There was a loud clanging sound when your arms hit the lockers in front of you as he forcibly bent you over, grabbing your hips hard and rubbing himself against where your swimsuit rode up on your ass cheeks. You muffle a surprised noise by pressing your mouth to the inside of your arm and squeeze your eyes shut when you feel him start to harden in his own swimsuit. The heat radiating off of him could be from arousal or training or anger. You still feel like you can’t tell the difference at the beginning like this. 

During your first official university swim practice, your captain Rin Matsuoka ran you and the other first years ragged with what felt like never ending drills over and over and over, and when everyone had shaky legs and jelly arms, he lined you all up on the edge of the deck of the pool and gave you a speech about responsibilities to the team  during your swim career. In order to teach you all a lesson, he decided to assign individual jobs to each of you, so you all could do your part in helping the team run efficiently. 

One by one, all the other first years were privately given their assignments and sent off to showers, while Rin occasionally shot glances in your direction and raked his gaze up and down your rippling, exhausted body heaving with breaths. Soon, you were the only one left, and he took you aside to the other locker rooms to give you your assignment.

That was the first time he took you, raw and rough, in the showers. Your job was to appease him whenever he needed it, and when he asked if you could handle it, all you could do was drop your jaw open and let him fuck himself with your throat.

You weren’t going to give up your full-ride scholarship over a measly sex arrangement.

I had a great time with the prompts. Most of these stories just came up as I thought of the prompts and I would never have written them otherwise. There is one story in specific I will probably continue and I am thinking of some of the other ones. 

Fun fact: for the first time since I started on AO3, my amount of Free! stories has surpassed the amount of Prince of Tennis stories :D

Thank you!! &lt;3 put “top 5” anything in my ask and i will answer Okay so here’s a shameful fact about me: I rarely read rinharu fanfics anymore. This is not because I don’t want to or that there’s not any good ones I haven’t read already out there (there is!! so many!!), but I simply don’t have time to read that much fanfiction in general anymore. :/ If I have time for fanfiction, I either write or read through my own WIPs. I try my best to read other people’s RH fics, not just for the pleasure of reading, but also to engage with other writers and write comments for them, and discover and appreciate other ways of writing the characters, but there's only so much time in a day. ;-; That being said, I also never really kept tabs on the fics I used to read/still read. I never wrote them down or saved them in any way, not even with an ao3 bookmark (i regret this so much), and so it would require extensive amount of time to go through my giant ao3 history to try to rank them properly. However! I do want to answer this ask with some recs (that aren't my own fics lol) in some way, so here goes the ones that sticks out the most in my current memory: 1) Family (3577 words) by NamelessPastel. An absolutely adorable fic in which Rin is babysitting his cousin and Haru comes around and ends up helping him. 2) Chicken Scratch (Ongoing, 88.754 words) by MatsuokasPonytail (@matsuokas-ponytail). Lovely and captivating fic with gardener!Rin and rich kid!Haru. It was wild to follow from its origin in @tomakehimfree's wonderful and sexy art and all the anons in her askbox, to the fic's first chapter and all the exciting chapter updates that followed. Sadly it’s on hiatus (and likely stays that way), but 1) what's there is still 100% worth reading! 2) I still naively hope to get that new chapter mail notification any day now lol. You can read all the individual chapters here on tumblr too. 3) The Long Engagement (25/25 chapters, 175,128 words) by RubyEliz. It's an arranged marriage fic with tons of angst and miscommunication that'll have you at the edge of your seat, then leave you with a warm little hug of a happy ending. This is the last longfic I've read of RH. It grabbed a hold of my attention SO hard and made me pull an all-nighter just to finish it. I couldn't put it down at all. 4) AO3@Misila (@misila / @nenufair) has written SO many RH fics, way more than I’ll ever get the chance to read (i think. Might dare myself one day jkfdk). She writes extremely well, so I can recommend checking her extensive list of works out! She definitely has at least one fic for any rinharu shipper’s taste. 5) I own physical copies of the fanfics Inked (tattoo artist x biker au), Dinner For One (angst with a happy ending) and Fluid Like Water (Olympic setting) by AO3@ellerean/@ellereanwrites (formerly tumblr@letsswimtogethernanase. I love them all a lot. The fanfics were the first RH "fan-made" merch pieces I ever bought (I think?), so they mean a lot to me and I feel privileged that I can have them displayed on my RH alter. <3

9. What fic meant the most to you to write?

The first fic I've ever posted for RinHaru, hands down. I wrote this high on the RinHaru feels I got from watching Free! and at first, I was a little bummed out that the show didn't make them outright canon. But as I worked on this fic, writing out whatever it is I think should have happened on the show (lol) helped me come to terms with that and I actually learned to appreciate that we're given the liberty to choose how they'd end up together. As such, I've come to really love writing fanfiction thanks to the realisation that we as shippers are bestowed with the freedom (and power 😌) to decide how we want that magical moment of them getting together to finally happen 💖✨

TLDR this was the work that made me realise how much fun I could have with fanfiction, and I've been hooked on this hobby ever since!

11. What fic was the most satisfying to finish writing?

This was a tough one since the feeling of finishing a fic is always satisfying, but if I had to choose one... Dear Diary. It was based on the first prompt I chose for make a splash! and I felt kinda pressure, to be frank. I mean, I got an AO3 account for this event! The least I could do was to contribute at least something decently readable. The prompt caught my eye since I wanted to write something lighthearted and fun, but the thing about this prompt is that it also very much reminds me of this legendary fandom classic by sauntering_down. I could only ever dream of making something half as funny as that 🙈 The pressure I was giving myself made me force words out in a feeble attempt to make it work initially, thus my first draft was an unreadable mess. By the grace of the fanfiction gods and my kind beta reader @declawedwildcat, I managed to pivot and rewrite the entire thing, so it was such a relief that the prompt did not go to waste after the initial struggle I had with Nitori's POV.

12. What fic was the most difficult to write? Did you finish it?

My entry for Soumako Week since I was challenging myself to use one prompt from each day of the week. I planned to make "drabbles" every day that would connect to make a coherent story, but they turned out to be much longer than just drabbles 😂 I struggled with the plot for some time, and while the end result got me thinking of what could've been (not my best work, I'm afraid), I'm still so glad I somehow managed to finish it. Even though it was difficult I did enjoy learning from the process and managed to have fun with the event, so I would love to repeat a challenge like that for another ship week someday. Seeing how I could connect prompts to weave them into stories is too much fun!

“So here’s a deal.” Rin hoisted himself up, curling his tail around himself to look Haruka in the eye. “You help me to find my sister, and in exchange you have a merman indebted to you for the rest of your life—which I can assure you, will be shorter than mine. What do you say?”

For a mythical creature whose existence he hadn’t been completely sure of up until that very morning, Rin was earnest and open, and honest, and annoyingly human.

And he was wrong. Haruka was the one who had been indebted to Rin for years.
