Francis and the Lights
Francis and the Lights sets up synthesizers and drum machines next to the piano in a dreamy cathedral. Soulful vocals filter through the stained glass windows out onto the streets lighting up the day of everyone passing by.
Recommended songs: Just for Us, Like a Dream, Morning, May I Have This Dance

what do you expect, want, think H5 will be like? any ideas?
Oh man, so many. None of them are very organized right now, and they're all based off my memory of things H has said/done recently, and rumors online. But here are some of my thoughts!
(Also it's gonna get a little parasocial with a whole lot of speculation.)
I have to shout out some sources here: this one that breaks down all the clues on the formylasttrick website and this one keeping track of the rumors/theories that people have so far and also this one detailing some "insider" rumors about the release of the first single/video
In short:
People are picking up big 70s vibes, references to disappearing, references to magicians/magic tricks, some rabbit hole references, maybe something about Biblically accurate angels, etc.
I've also noticed Halsey referencing some things a lot in their social media posts. Spiders were a theme of the orchestral shows they did at the beginning of 2023 (merch was sold with the phrase "the life of the spider") and H recently posted an Instagram spread that included a photo of a spider on a piano with the caption "me writing." They've also posted more than one photo of herself in wings, specifically butterfly wings and angel wings. These posts often came with references to cocoons or rebirth.
Halsey has been going through it lately, and I think a big part of why they stepped away from social media so much is because they needed to grieve privately. Their relationship with Alev, their health struggles, the death threats and SWATting scares - I think their relative silence and distance in 2023 was to protect the space they needed to heal and grow while going through a lot of tough shit. And I think this is going to be a very vulnerable album as a result, because she's had time to try to process things with a bit more distance from the public eye. This album has also been hinted at as being "A2" - aka similar to Manic in that it's an Ashley album, and not as much of a Halsey album. Less dressed up in a concept or a specific aesthetic and more abstract and reflective of a her as a complex person.
Because of that, I really have no idea where the genre is going to go, or if we'll be able to really pinpoint an exact aesthetic or vibe. Manic is - intentionally - a very all over the place album, and I think we could be hearing a similar theme with H5.
It's interesting, because one of the things that happened in the lead-up to Manic was that Halsey changed her mind. The "Nightmare" video was the first place Manic was ever teased. For awhile, H was talking about making a really angry, punk-rock, feminist rage album. And then things shifted for her, and the vibe on Manic ended up being completely different - so much so that "Nightmare" didn't find a home until IICHLIWP. And I think something similar might have happened here.
If you asked me eighteen months ago, before Halsey and Alev broke up, I would've said that I expected a fully pop album, in the vein of "So Good" and this song snippet they posted on TikTok. It really seemed like that was where they were headed. But then 2023 happened, and I think things changed. Based on the little hints we have, I think this is going to be a more 70s folk rock kind of vibe.
What I don't think it will be: a pop album, anything hip-hop/rnb a la HFK, a hard rock or industrial album, a cohesive concept album like IICHLWIP, HFK, or Badlands.
I would personally love to see something a little more stripped down. More guitar, piano, violin, less synth and vocal mods. I've kind of already had my ideal producer for H - it'll be very hard for anyone to beat Trent Reznor at this point, for me. Would be wild if they worked with Lido again, lolololol. It'll be interesting to see what direction they take for the production style.
So yeah, I don't have any really hard and fast theories, other than I think this will be a really vulnerable album, it likely won't be pop (like it first seemed it might,) and it will likely have 70s influences and the references I mentioned up top.
On the bright side, if the insider rumors are correct (and a lot of times, they are, "insider" usually just means "this celebrity's manager") we won't have to wait too long! There's allegedly going to be a single and a video to go with it in the second half of February!

i need your thesis on all the songs in the album i'm being so serious rn 😭 i'll rb it once a day for months and months don't deprive me like this of things i didn't even know i needed
ioaefjerjgioajo ill try my best aiofjoerjgiojao i was so annoying to my friends over my first impressions over all the songs so im gonna try my best to summarize my thoughts on these songs
joonie said this entire album was a recollection of everything hes done in his 20s aka the transformative years of his life and you can ABSOLUTELY hear the member influences (at first i heard the sope influences bc they have the biggest body of work so their style is most distinct but upon relistens its really a love album to his younger self (you can really tell its an evolution from rm and mono) and his members. ALSO i love how he modulates and changes his style and timbre to fit the style and quirks of his featuring artist? hes so fucking cool????? oh my GOD?????? anyways heres the impressions by song:
track one: yun ft. erykah badu very hot of him to start the entire album w 'FUCK THE TRENDSETTERS' the bassline the restraint of a laidback soundscape the reverb set to max the lines 'I wanna be a human / ‘Fore I do some art / It’s a cruel world / But there’s gon’ be my part' is so fucking insane? fuck. this song lyrically is all about uncertainty and the soundscape has a lot of space for growth and white space for art to be exhibited dare i say, its like the debut group's first stage? full of promises and expectations and uncertainty, but you march ahead regardless......what a sexy first song on the track track two: still life ft. anderson paak
BRING IN THE FUNK HELLS YEA VHOPE IS VIBING SO HARD RN I JUST KNOW IT now the empty space and reverb bassline is given some direction and happiness here. still life is a form of art and thus begins rm's first piece of art here in his lil art collection and joon accepting that things will come as they are and ppl will try to reduce him down to one thing, but hes still a fully realized human moving forwards like us all
track three: all day ft. tablo
ok this bassline and instrumental SCREAMS yoongi to me. the lil kick between verses the beats w the bassline the high melody line the bridge that sick transition from verse to chorus like no wonder tablo is here. i know yoongi draws lots of inspiration from epik high so it makes sense. sonically speaking this song takes the funky sounds of the previous track and condenses it and brings a hint of melancholy just in time for our next track. speaking on less fun notes, tablo is really the only other person who survived such vicious tonguelashing and emerged more powerful and a better person and im just glad joonie has someone to look up to.
track four: forgetful ft. kim sawol oh our queen of folk here to deliver some nice kindie chill vibes thank you i need it for our coming song mwah. here we slowly start to hear the funky bright poppy merge to a chill sound this song was for tae i just know it!!! sonically theres some fun stuff going on but it feels like a cooldown piece for the rest of the album. joonie really said i can pull off ALLLLLLLL genres.
track five: closer ft. paul blanco mahalia
the rnb influences the syncopation the pop beats i bet jk is having the time of his life singing to the chorus. the guitar and the beat and the piano makes me an immediate fan. also they modulated the message beep to be in the same key??? as the song?????? AND it gives us a diving board into the electronica of the next song and then the sound expands when joonie comes in???? i love it.
track six: change pt. 2
OOF KIM NAMJOON DID SUM NASTY WORK ON THIS SONG ITS SO GOOD ok ok ok so this sudden electronica synthpop isnt jarring bc joonie did a fantastic job ordering this album BUT you know whats the fucking kicker???? the way he arranged this song. on paper this song should NOT fucking work but it does bc they used the same chord from the synths as the piano that comes in later even tho it turns to double time half way thru the song and it would be amazing at there BUT(dont quote me on this) change and change pt 2 are either in the same key or are on relative keys AND if you listen to change ft wale which starts on the piano and goes to electronica, he does the exact opposite here???? fuck and the lyrics mirror each other as well????? fuckK
track seven: lonely
this is the love song to mono the reverb on that guitar the upbeat melancholy the tokyo forever rain vibes are THERE BUTTTTT hes added more complex transitions and layering? like even in this short amount of time hes grown exponentially fuck kim namjoon ur so sexy track eight: hectic ft colde
THIS IS THE HOBI SONG OF THE ALBUM YES KING GIVE ME THAT BOUNCY BASS AND HIGH AIRY SYNTH CITYPOP VIBES YES KING i NEEDD someone to give me a just dance x seesaw x hectic remix asap it would sound SO good. also as someone who listens to a lot of colde/offonoff, this collab is SO FUCKING good bc you can hear coldes influences as well? its so good my god the sax the lil touches the production FUCK. ANNNDDDDD they switched to double time again for this outro so the next song doesnt come in too jarring??? mr kim how did you fit so many genres into this album and yet they all belong together????? im in so much fucking awe man!!!!!
track nine: wildflower ft. youjeen
ive told you pretty much everything i wanted but fuck the production on this song is just so fucking good. the details. the expert control of the soundscape. the arrangement. i cant wait to hear vocal line sing youjeen's lines. i also love that he put his title song at the end bc hes at the end of his 20s. this is him currently. hes still growing and growing roots and stretching to the sun fuck man i cant believe this song took over my most played joonie song forever rain in a week.
track ten: no 2 ft. park jiyoon
and here we are returned to the starting spot but slightly to the left, like when you've walked thru the museum exhibition and am spat out the exit right where you started, but w the new insights and experiences that the you from an hour ago didnt have. joonie is a masterful curator and this song ouroboroses us right back to listen to this album again. the tongue in cheek of ending w 'no looking back' when im ready to replay this album again like you literally inviting me to replay this album youve made it a point to end like this?????? lmfao kim namjoon who do you take me for hmmm?????
if youve made it to the end here i love you nothing makes sense anymore i only know that i love kim namjoon and that ive had this album on loop and i STILL hear new things in it i have no words for how much respect and awe and love i have for this man. and when he said 'fuck the trendsetters' he really did it. he dabbled in ALL of the most popular sounds and genres you hear in the music industry, pulled it off w aplomb, and moved on. anyways i love kim namjoon.

Billboard USA Exclusion Zone Episode 21 (01/13/2024)
Tumblr media
Now that all the Christmas stuff is gone, what do we have to replace all of the Christmas songs? Well seems like we are still stuck with what 2023 had to offered. Regional Mexican, J-Pop, old songs that went viral on TikTok, and some legacy songs just debuted. And yet looking at the chart reset I think showed a bigger picture that I will get to on my blog, stay tuned. Enough stalling let's get into these meaty lists of new arrival
--------------------------------------------------------
49. "Goat" by Number_I
You know the year hasn't even started yet and we might have a contender for the worst song of the year. Like imagine if Fleeting Lullaby by Ado was remixed by a B-tier boyband and the productions sounded like the backwash of Gen 3 boyband group sound...you get this.
51. "Rompe La Dompe" by Peso Pluma, Junior H, Oscar Maydon
This is probably the most well produced Peso Pluma song in corridos scene. I love how chill the song is. Definitely needed after...that car crash the size of opening lap of Belgian GP in 1998 proportion.
64. "Wherever u r" by UMI ft. V from BTS
Seems like V beside making solid RnB album, also want to platform small RnB artist as well. And it's a great song to boot as well. I'm instantly hooked by UMI's voice with the melodic guitar, spacious production, and just immaculate atmosphere which is perfect for the sort of cut about long distance longing. I do think the percussion is a bit loud. But hey it's still a high recommendation
114. "Poco A Poco" by Xavi ft. Los Dareyes de La Sierra
Seems like the train of regional Mexican sound is still rolling because we have a newcomer by the name of Xavi. He's not Spanish by the way he's from Arizona. But, he has been going up on the chart with La Diabla which is a good song. And this one might be better due to the fact that there's a slap bass in it.
132. "Maria Mariah" by Silva MC, DJ F7, C NO BEAT & MC Meno Dani
10/10 would Brazilian funk again.
154. "Modo DND" by Xavi & Tony Aguirre
I feel like the reason why I've been positive with Xavi because in terms of corridos tumbados, his sounds are very full and competently produced for once. I love the horn lines here the most because it's kinda like all over the place.
161. "Murder On The Dancefloor" by Sophie Ellis-Bextor
TikTok strikes again and this time it might be their best find yet. Coming from the Saltburn ending where Barry Keoghan "dancing" to this song, we have quite possible the reason why Future Nostalgia existed in the first place. I'm glad that Americans are listening to this two decades later. The lush nu-disco production that didn't aged a day with the liquid guitar, tight bass, and the strings. Every seconds of this song is just tight and controlled which could be attributed to Gregg Alexander aka the bald guy with the bucket hat from New Radicals. The guitar solo is just an icing on the cake on otherwise fantastic tune.
162. "Husn" by Anuv Jain
Never thought I would hear a song from India like this to be honest. But hey it's a nice surprised to hear this type of sounds in other languages that I am not familiar with.
170. "Overdrive" by Ofenbach ft. Norma Jean Martine
It's kinda cool how dance genre has probably its stronger year in 2023. This is the first one I'm listening to this year and yeah the streak keep on going here. Never have I heard more beautiful piano house since...shit probably Hold My Hand.
172. "Alucin" by Eugenio Esquivel X Grupo Marca Registrada X Sebastian Esquivel
This is probably the best "Edm mixed with regional mexican" song I've heard. Though when your competition is a song by Fuerza Regida featuring Marshmello...yeah
186. "Let Me Love You" by DJ Snake ft. Justin Bieber
Not gonna lie, the sound of DJ Snake just didn't hold up so well with time. This song in 2024 sounds so empty and devoid of anything interesting.
190. "Have You Ever Seen The Rain" by Creedence Clearwater Revival
Meanwhile this song is timeless and could be played at any time where you are feeling down or just sick of the bullshit get thrown at you.
191. "Livin On A Prayer" by Bon Jovi
Just listening to this one song and you will get why hair metal was at one point the biggest genre in the world in the mid 80s.
193. "Poker Face" by Lady Gaga
Meanwhile just listened to this song and you'll get why Lady Gaga is an icon and deserved her acolades.
197. "Be A Flower" by Ryokuoushoku Shakai
Wait so this is the song that became an opening for an anime about ancient China? Why does this bang so hard????
199. "One Dance" by Drake ft. Wizkid & Nyla
One Dance is a good song but this song marked the exact point where Drake stopped trying most of the times because his status as #1 hit makers has been sealed.
200. "Lean On" by Major Lazer ft. DJ Snake & MO
It's a good even great EDM song but it's pale in comparison to its competition at that time.
I highly recommend everyone listening to these songs

Spooky Billboard Top 5
Welp. It's October, currently the 4th and the Billboard Top 100 doesn't look too different.
Number 5: I remember everything, Zach Bryan
I, as a personal preference, do not like country. That being said this song makes me happy. It reminds me of folk songs from other recent artists. Noah Kahan and Zach Bryan have help restore my faith in country and have maybe pushed me to give the genre a second chance. Lyrics like these harcon back to my childhood and are more than nostalgic. 6
Number 4: Cruel Summer, Taylor Swift
By virtue of it being a T-Swift song I will not give it above a 3 as she doesn't deserve more praise than that. 3
Number 3: Fast Car, Luke Combs
Fast Car is an amazing song, that i just don't think Luke Combs fits. The song's original writer is a queer woman who most likely wrote this song about her love interest at the time and it feels so odd not to have her sing it. Aside from that, the instrumentation is nice and not overbearing. Most who cover this use piano so it feels much better hearing its original guitar part. 7
Number 2: Snooze, SZA
Snooze is pretty low energy and as I am less of a fan of RnB than most I really am not too much of a fan of this song, its low energy and slower tempo have me feeling more conflicted that anything. I genuinely enjoy SZA's music and find her more energetic songs fun and entertaining. This song has relatable lyrics and a story worth telling, I kinda hate that I just don't find the story that interesting. 5
Number 1: Paint the Town Red, Doja Cat
Doja is back, and without acting like her friend I can say this song is amazing. The backing beat is one of the best in her discography and it's been stuck in my head since its release. I love Doja, I love her music and her on stage persona that we see. She is in peak performance here and her recent album is just as good. 8

VirgoTwins — ArtSpace (Damn That Noise/Expanded-Art Records)
Tumblr media
youtube
Jon Ivan Gill is an author and academic who views hip hop culture as a global philosophy of life and social justice. Encompassing history, religion, Afro-futurism, culture and philosophy, he collapses lineal time and logic, making world building connections that are often startlingly apposite. Part cosmic beat poet and part hardboiled dialectician, his musical alter ego, Gilead7, embraces contradiction, paradox and poetic license, building his narratives to arrive at deeper truths about the world. In producer Boricua Sandy, Gilead finds a collaborator equally wide-ranging in her inspirations. Together as VirgoTwins, their debut release ArtSpace combines an eclectic range of soundscapes with Gilead7’s exploratory verses. Sandy matches his words with expansive backings that owe as much to ambient electronica as traditional hip hop. If this seems counterintuitive, her music frees Gilead7’s lyrical flow from the strict imperative of rhythm and gives ArtSpace a loose, understated vibe that serves as a counterpoint to the intensity of the words and the scratching of guest DJ Presyce.
“Othello’s Children in the New World” is structured as an argument between a tenured professor protecting his status and his younger non-tenured colleague, with Gilead7 playing both parts. It ranges across Afro-diasporic history, the destruction of indigenous cultures and dismissal of their intellectual and artistic achievements by an academic structure wedded to power rather than knowledge— “What they don't know won't hurt 'em/But it will still our imperial power from global interior to coast/And to prevent that great awakening I'll do the most/Make the real historical records disappear like a ghost.” This tour-de-force of verbal and analytical dexterity plays out over growling bass and snippets of communal voice. “Shadow Work” celebrates unacknowledged underground artists. Sandy energizes hazy dreamscapes with loping drums and a circular guitar riff as Gilead7 chronicles the struggle of unrecognized innovators. Jessica Santana provides a foil on the RnB tinged “Empath” where removing a water bug from the house leads to a meditation on difference and co-existence set to a quite lovely piano backing. “A-Symbol” is a freeform reflection on how language and meaning are twisted by power but offers art, specifically, hip hop culture as self-defining path to identity and resistance. With ArtSpace VirgoTwins meld poetry and polemics into a potent interrogation of distorted of histories and a demonstration of the subversive potential of language and music.

Top 10 Title Tracks of 2022
I am once again back with my top 10 of this year!! plus little nerdy reasons I love them<3
10. Cheshire - ITZY
Tumblr media
a song from the end of the year always sneaks in on my list and this year it was cheshire<3 the music is so intriguing and everything I love from the overtone piano to the harsh synth bass. 'Lalala's just always win .. they rly do. So catchy and wonderful and COOL which is exactly what I want from itzy. They are so cool!!!
9. Youth - Kihyun
Tumblr media
it's just simply a beautiful song :( it's so familiar and homely ... it sounds nostalgic which ofc perfectly matches the theme of the song. the lyrics... so bittersweet and honest. 'I want to be happy without trying so hard' :( kihyun how dare. This genre, pop-rock sound, is so comforting to me and is the best vehicle for the emotions the lyrics speak about. It is ultimately I think just a wonderfully well-rounded and truthful song
8. MAISON - Dreamcatcher
Tumblr media
the thematic message of this song is incredibly important and special and musically, it matches it, enhances it, Perfectly. It starts small and angry. And constant. There's not a moment to catch a breath and it rly feels like a fight. Then the outro... the reharmonisation of the chorus changed the energy completely, and the harmony is ascending as the choral voices are brought in and it feels Epic and Desperate. Where it started off as anger and confidence, the last chorus feels like a plea. It's so Emotive it's really beautiful
7. O - VERIVERY
Tumblr media
incredible INCREDIBLE mixture of smoothness and harshness. The guitar is as sexy as rnb gets, the melody is smooth and catchy and fluid. And then the Sound.. it also has this fluidity but it is Harsh, it is Crunchy. There's metallic clangs and screeches, so much NOISE. It sounds like a machine malfunctioning underneath the smoothness of the melody, which thematically is beautiful and perfectly matches the beautiful mv. Just STUNNING it's so artistic
6. Guerrilla - ATEEZ
Tumblr media
so this simply makes me go insane. One of the BEST intros to ever intro. The aggression and loudness in this song is so tangible and emotive but they vary it so well and create tension and release and shift dynamics so so well which is so refreshing for this style of song. The prechoruses allow some breath before the power of the chorus .. and then the post chorus... choi jongho... the tension along with the double time beat AAAA it hits sosososo hard every time. Overall just ..... choi jongho... CHOI JONGHO
5. MANIAC - Stray Kids
Tumblr media
BEAUTIFUL beautiful modal mixture<3 sort've skz's first major venture into drastic modal mixture and it was Perfect (Phrygian dominant is just *chefs kiss*.) It mashed together both the brightness and darkness skz do so well and it just made a very interesting song that deserves my admiration. The Movement in the background is everything to me, the arpeggiators and percussion filling the space rly make it constantly interesting
4. Ring The Alarm - KARD
Tumblr media
this song just Grooves. An addictive reggae beat with very pretty and satisfying harmony. And probably most of all the top line is just gorgeous, the melody is floaty and punchy at once. The lyrical change for the last chorus is so effective. And the OUTRO, the heavier instrumental for just a moment making me want to replay it every time<3 just exactly what a bop should be
3. GingaMingaYo - Billlie
Tumblr media
this song is so odd and wonderful and FUN. truly set off the year in such a good way. The sonic textures are crazy. Billie's voices are so varied and expressive they can handle this kind of loud crazy track so well and it's incredibly impressive. And on top of that their stage presence is INSANE. This song made me fall for them it rly did, it's truly the definition of weird and wonderful
2. Adrenaline - Cravity
Tumblr media
it is no surprise to anyone how much I love these boys and this year was just their year<3 this place could as easily go to party rock, i am still debating to this minute jfjf vity just filled this year with happy bops! ... the bass is INSANE firstly, the top line is so punchy and catchy. this song is just sososo fun and uplifting. it's filled to the brim with happy vibes and interesting sounds. The second verse just decides to change genre for a couple bars, the half-time sections don't get old and make a unique end to the chorus. just! happy music made interestingly and the outcome is very very cool
1. INVU - Taeyeon
Tumblr media
... it is the most beautiful song to ever have blessed my ears. To me this is a perfect song, plain and simple. The production is so smooth and perfectly subtle and clear. I feel like I can hear every single sound they put in there. The top line is so smooth and clear too, and an incredible use of taeyeon's range. The vast space that the production creates allows her voice to sound raw and emotional and allows her the freedom to run, bend timings and sing with feeling. This song makes me levitate. My soul leaves my body completely<3

TDE-Signed Producer Devin Malik Steals the Mic With Debut EP ‘DEADSTOCK’
Tumblr media
Getting his start as a behind-the-scenes weapon for some of the industry’s hottest names, Devin Malik is ready to step into the spotlight. Today, he shares DEADSTOCK, his highly-anticipated debut project as a rapper. Along with the project, Devin announces his signing to TDE as a producer, making his close relationship with the label official.
According to Devin himself, “DEADSTOCK is an audible horror film focusing on themes of lust, rage, and comedy, directed by Devin Malik.”
DEADSTOCK is an experimental exploration of the wide-range of sonics that can live within hip hop. Devin’s curation of the project is unpredictable, keeping listeners on their toes from track to track. Favoring grittier synths and chilling bass on the EP’s opening track “BANG YOUR HEAD” ft. ScHoolboy Q and recently released single “LINK DUCKER,” he switches up the sound later on the project, using sentimental keys and RnB cadences on “PDA” and jazzy, 60’s inspired piano riffs on “TRAUMA QUEEN.” Leaning into the freedom of expression found in indie-rap, Devin explores the myriad of ways to melodically tell a story, a perfect example being “WASTE NO TIME” where he ping pongs between gassing himself up to the sound of gravely acoustics strums and scattered keys before changing the melody entirely to sentimental keys, spitting down-to-earth lyrics like “the money, the clothes, it all, gets old, we all, get old, I can’t waste no time.”
Devin’s experiences working with some of rap’s favorite indie darlings and legendary heavy hitters is reflected in DEADSTOCK as listeners with a keen ear can hear inspiration from the very best qualities of all the artists he’s admired or worked with. Back in April, the talented rapper-producer released “PDA,” a flirtatious video and single. Produced by Devin and co-producer WillGell, the song uses a sample from Kendrick Lamar’s “PRIDE,” supplementing it with rolling hi-hats and an ethereal piano melody to create a room-enveloping canvas for Devin to paint on. “BACKSTAGE” continues Devin Malik’s red hot 2024, following his contributions as a producer and rapper on his mentor ScHoolboy Q’s new album BLUE LIPS. The young artist produced and rapped on “Love Birds,” also featuring Lance Skiiiwalker, and tore up the first verse of album highlight “Back n Love.” Behind the scenes, Malik contributed his production talents to highlights like “NuNu,” “oHio” and closing track “Smile.” After years of steady rise, and a recent co-sign from the one-and-only Kendrick Lamar, ScHoolboy Q has taken Devin Malik under his wing, nurturing him to become the next talent to emerge from the TDE orbit. Most recently, he vibed out with Kendrick Lamar on stage at his historic ‘Pop Out’ LA show on Juneteenth during one of the performances of “Not Like Us.”
Born in Philadelphia before his family moved to Rancho Cucamonga in Southern California's Inland Empire when he was young, Devin Malik first made his name in the industry as a talented producer. He sold his first beat when he was in high school, purchased by D. Savage, before heading to college to pursue a degree in Computer Science. By 2018, Devin (then under stage name ‘Yoga Flame’) started to see dividends as a producer working with the likes of Lil Yachty, Ken Carson & more. His life changed when his music found the ears of Isaiah Rashad, who collaborated heavily with Malik on his 2021 comeback album The House Is Burning, contributing to 6 songs including album introductory track "Darkseid."
Tumblr media
Since then, Devin Malik has been strongly affiliated with Top Dawg Entertainment, producing for Ab-Soul, Doechii, and REASON, including REASON's single "Extinct" ft. JID & Isaiah Rashad. Though he was known in the industry as a producer, Devin Malik always had a passion for rapping, and ambitions to embark on a rap career. In 2023, Devin Malik popped out on his own, releasing his debut single "LINK DUCKER," acclaimed by Billboard, and "Wallflower," earning attention from Pigeons & Planes who named him Best New Artist in August 2023.
Malik’s impressive resume, paired with his unique musical ear, has allowed him to create an EP that stands alone in the rap scene.
