This is a (sort of) concept design for an AU i'm putting together called "Road Less Traveled" or "RLT" for short. I took some inspiration from other creators and their AUs for some of ideas I incorporated into mine

Alright. Onto the plot synopsis of this AU

Road Less Traveled mostly focuses on The Midnight (my interpretation of Nightcat). The Iterators are a sort of side story.

Years after the tragedy that shaped her, she settled into the slugcat colony that resides in the Outer Expanse. Her life is peaceful, looking after the pups in Gourmand's absence.

One day, a fluffy green slugcat appears in the colony and starts helping out the best he can with his pacifist nature and knowledge of things beyond their understanding. Midnight's confrontation with the green slugcat takes her on a journey to find answers (and family) to assist the curse that plagues her existence.

Five Pebbles somehow found the work around for a taboo that prevented Iterators from tinkering with their puppets. In a bid for freedom, he incorporates The Rot into his puppet and dresses himself for adventure.

Shortly before leaving his can, he broadcasts his work-around and the easy method of achieving it. He then sets out to forge his own way and make his own findings. He is tired of being confined and miserable. But now he can be free to do what he wants; And his first course of action is helping Moon.

Located just four miles west of Carrizozo, Valley of Fires is one of the youngest lava flows in the continental United States, the second youngest in New Mexico behind the McCartys flow in the El Malpais National Monument.

Volcanic vents on Little Black Peak starting oozing lava about 5,000 years ago, filling the northern end of the Tularosa Valley with streams of molten rock for about 30 years. The volcanic field is associated with the Rio Grande Rift, a part of the Earth’s crust that is being gradually pulled apart. This creates faults, which provide paths for magma to reach the Earth’s surface. Whereas most of the volcanic activity has been steady seepage, the last eruption, about 1,500-2,000 years ago, was more explosive.

In total, the Carrizozo Malpais lava flow is 4-6 miles wide, 44-miles long, and approximately 160-feet thick, covering 125 square miles of the Tularosa Basin. The view from the top of Sierra Blanca is outstanding on a clear day. Valley of Fires lava flows extend from the north end of the Tularosa Basin to 14 miles north of the gypsum dunes of White Sands National Park. Dark and light. The geologic contrast is striking enough, and large enough, to be seen from space.

"Elidibus! I have a surprise for you," Rhea announced in a song-like voice as she strolled into the Emissary's office. As per usual, Azem had given exactly two knocks before letting herself in. Since Elidibus was not known for doing anything uncoth, the worst she had to worry about was interrupting an important small meeting. Since it was Elidibus - and he didn't seem to mind (emphasis on seem) - she usually just waltzed in whenever she required his aid. Today was no different. Even if she had volunteered him to accompany her on a potentially dangerous mission.

"Do you remember how I was last headed to the southwest? To the rainforests of Trinae? Their people are being hounded by a sickness with no known cure for them. Now, after consulting with the Words of Halmarut, and Halmarut of course, we've tracked down a plant that should cure their ailments. It's located in the Great Woods of Tarrgein. You know, that immense spanse of wood that eventually turns into the Khotar mountain range? I've requested you accompany me and managed to be granted approval provided you consent and have nothing requiring your attention."

The green haired woman paused to take a breath and gave a smile. "If our theory is proven successful a supply route between the two peoples will need to be established if possible. Since that is your area of expertise, you will be required. Given Halmarut is never wrong when it comes to flora, I highly suspect it may be a long mission for you."
