THE MANCHESTER ARENA BOMBING

On May 22nd 2017, 22 year old Salman Abedi entered the Manchester Arena in Manchester, England. Salam brought with him a 66 pound TATP nail-bomb hidden inside of his backpack, which at 10:31 p.m (UTC) went off in the city room as thousands of people left Ariana Grande’s “Dangerous Women” concert. This bomb would kill Salman as it went off.

The nail-bomb would also kill 22 others and injure over 1,000 others. The reason why Salam did this because of the deaths of Muslim children resulting from the American-led intervention in the Syrian Civil War. Though ,at the beginning, it was suspected he acted alone. Later on in 2020 his brother ,Hashem Abedi, was tried and convicted. He was charged with 22 counts of murder, attempted murder and conspiracy to cause an explosion. Hashem was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 55 years.

AFTER THE SHOOTING

A report by the Kerslake Report, the security of the arena was insufficient. Although bag searches were performed, they were inconsistent. Salman entered through the City Room, which was outside of the security zone. Security was made much tighter due to this incident.

This was the first suicide bombing in the United Kingdom since the July 7th 2005 London bombings.

Robert reading the paper in "They're Playing My Song" has two purposes. One, it further emphasizes him wanting to be aware of what's going on in his community (part of his sense of civic duty that Virgil is growing into). Two, it emphasizes that 'Bang Babies' are an ongoing concern, not just foes Static is up against, as well as indicating that people other than Virgil know something is up with what happened to cause the Bang Babies.

I am new to the True Crime Community.

I am particularly interested in the case of Adam Lanza. In late 2022, I got into true crime, I started researching the Sandy Hook case and then it gradually grew into an obsession. As my obsession grew I also became interested in mass murder. I like horror and true crime in general but I am interested in mass murder. I am also interested in the cases of Richard Farley, Wayne Lo, Kimveer Gill, Seung-Hui Cho, Tim K, Robert Hawkins, and Anders Breivik. I also have other things to talk about. If anyone wants to be friends then sure, I would be glad to be friends as that is the reason I joined.

In addition to allowing Robert Hawkins to be right to have concerns about the effects being had on 'Bang Babies', the episode "Aftershock" also showcases that Robert Hawkins has been setting an example of civic responsibility for his kids, as seen by him speaking up in a town hall meeting here. That example is very likely a factor in why Virgil readily stepped up to be a superhero.
