Here's a snippet from an upcoming BTAS Scarecrow x Reader fic hope you guys enjoy!

“How long has this been going on, Professor?” 

“Ever since he arrived…he immediately made his dominance known…he destroyed one of Isley's potted plants when she didn't return back to her cell in time…he stomped on Tetch's hat for the same thing…he threatened to burn one of my books…Even when we're obedient he makes our lives here…Hell…” 

Guilt swelled up in the pit of your stomach. Bolton has been the head of security for a little over a year…how are you just now hearing about all this?

“Oi! It’s me! Th’ hell ya locked the door for?! Open up!” Mammon, your supposed guide to all things Devildom, shouts at the top of his lungs. You wince. 

Oh. 

You scramble to your feet, interrupting the beginnings of a new assault on your door handle by opening it a smidge. Only half of your face shows, and you squint at the onslaught of light. 

Mammon’s attention seems to perk, his head pushing forward, slouch straightening, and he gestures his hand at you. “Are ya tellin’ me ya ain’t even dressed yet?! Lords, Lucifer’s gonna kill me! Ya humans are so incompetent, I swear!”

You glare at him, then promptly shut the door in his face. 

Basked in the darkness of your room again, you head towards your bed – and jump when the door slams open behind you. 

“What the fu–” you begin, but Mammon interrupts you.

“Ohh-hohoho, ya gotta lotta nerve, human! Who d’ya think you are?” He snaps, and you turn to face him – but he’s already plopped his dandy ass at the end of your bed.

“Who the hell do you think you are?” you mimic. Immediately, you regret your words, remembering he’s a demon, he could kill you in two seconds flat, but he just lets out a snort.

The room is still relatively dark, and when you squint to focus on him, his eyes seem to have a hazy golden glow. Eerie.

Cool, but eerie.

“Ya blind or somethin’? Dumb too? Ya need me ‘ta help ya waddle ‘round on yer two feet?” His grin isn’t kind. It’s nearing sadistic, bullyish. 

“Jesus fucking Christ, dude,” you mutter in disbelief.

Zhou Xu braced his knees and stood up. The movement itself signified a thick fatigue lining his bones, but the play of his brows was easy. He crossed over to Kexing, picking up the plate with dates Kexing was holding. He tickled him under the jaw. “The great Wen Kexing…” Zhou smiled and let it trail off there, because even the most confident men had their limits. Kexing understood without Zhou Xu finishing the sentence.

this is from the same wip as the last excerpt (: <3 <3 <3 its also what i originally considered for the no-context condition of that game but it didnt seem to be mysterious enough. though i dont know if the other snippet i settled on in the end is much mysterious either huehe. at least there is the birth of a calf

Jamie has dreams sometimes, see. And they’re not usually good dreams. Dreams where he’s walking, and it’s dark, and something is behind him, and he knows something is behind him just as well as he knows he shouldn’t turn around to look at it. It’s like, when you’re a little kid, and you turn off the switch at the bottom of the stairs and run, fast as you can in the dark, to the top. So the monster won’t get you. Except Jamie never gets to the top of those stairs.

WIP Whenever

Wahoo it's actually Wednesday this time. Last week I was tagged by @firstelevens and @sunsetmaidenwrites to share a snippet of something I'm working on. My longer wips aren't presentable right now, so here's a goofy short one

This is from a fic where Bucky takes his niece to meet baseball darling Sam Wilson. She gives him a friendship bracelet and Sam wears it during the game that night. And then strikes out for the first time all season. Twice. So Bucky thinks the bracelet is cursed and tries to get it back from Sam.

Bucky put his arm down on the table between them, showing off the half dozen or so bracelets. "Please, just choose a different one. They were all made by the same kid. You'll get the same sentiment."

Sam Wilson continued to look unimpressed. "No," he said slowly. "Because she made this one for me. It has my name, and my number, and this cute little baseball on it. It's mine."

"It's cursed!" Bucky insisted, sounding strangled. He melted more against the table, the desperation literally bleeding out of him.

"A bracelet is not tanking my batting average," Sam scoffed. He had plenty of superstitions. He always got a smoothie at the same place on game days. He always got dressed in the same order. Said the same prayer before taking the field, and did the same pre-at-bat ritual. But he didn't believe in not washing his jersey or swapping out his gear bag. He never thought he was the reason a team lost after he tuned in for a game when he hadn't been watching previously. He kept the same cleats all season but that was more about comfort than superstition.

He did not believe a bracelet a nine year old girl gave him in a meet-and-greet was cursing his bat.

Bucky groaned and dropped his head on the table. "Is there any way to convince you to take off that bracelet when you bat?"

"Dude, do you have money on the game or something?"

"You're myher favorite player! She's distraught when you guys lose!"

Sam's eyebrow rose. Any hope Bucky had that he'd salvaged the little slip was dashed. "Does she think it's because of the bracelet?"

Bucky sat back in the seat and groaned again as he dropped his head back. "No," he admitted. "She's not superstitious at all. She thinks it's because you started adjusting your stance and now you keep your left leg too far forward, so you're closing yourself off to outside and high pitches."

Now both eyebrows went up, but in surprise this time. "She's nine?" he asked. "Does she want to be our assistant batting coach? Or is her bedtime before the end of the games?"

i was gonna try to post just a line or a paragraph like you are supposed to but whatever!!!! this is from my latest 8th year hanahaki wip and the whole chunk is better so have it:

"Malfoy," Harry says, swaying. "What the fuck is wrong with you?" Malfoy whispers, eyes wide. "Get out of my way!" "No—Calm down," he says, frowning, and reaches out to grab at Malfoy's shirt. "And shut up, I just—I've got to ask you something." Malfoy moves smoothly out of reach, just a single step back down. Harry's fingers swipe at nothing. A hot irritation spreads through Harry's chest. He clenches his fist, and now Malfoy looks scared, body tense like he's about to bolt back down the stairs. "Would you just—" And he reaches out again to grip at Malfoy's arm—to hold the flighty bastard in place, is the idea. Malfoy takes another step back. Just like that, Harry's stomach swoops. His reflexes are as dead as his legs. With a helpless lurch he's plummeting head-on towards the look of utter bewilderment on Malfoy's face. It's a slow fall; he even has time to find the whole thing extremely funny, to be accidentally dropping into Malfoy's rigid, unwelcoming arms, of all things. Then Malfoy takes one additional step back, and Harry hits the stone.

“My walkie was busted, man. Drenched. So, uh, I did the thing that I do now apparently…” Eddie went on, wiping at the water dripping off his chin with the sleeve of his leather jacket, his mouth twisting into a wide, wry smile. “I ran.”

Despite the words being spat with anger and self-deprecating venom, Eddie’s dimples were on full display, a sight Steve hadn’t had directed at him in months. Seeing it now, like this, made his heart ache something fierce. 

Eddie wasn’t a runner, was the thing. 

Steve knew that. Anyone with eyes knew that. Eddie would gleefully stare down a guy twice his size, go toe to toe with the meanest assholes Hawkins High had to offer without hesitation to keep his people safe. And sure, sometimes Eddie got his ass beat, but he hadn’t cultivated that freak reputation for nothing. These days, more often than not, bullies and their minions stood down when Eddie’s hackles rose.

“Do you know what time this was? The attack?” Nancy asked, business first as usual. Like she couldn't see the poor guy was on the verge of losing it, or probably she just didn’t care. It was all about the task at hand.

Can you do Supernatural Au for the wip ask game? 👀

ah yes! the very self-indulgent AU that is a) way too long and ambitious, b) only appealing to like 3 people. but it IS my beloved

anyway, it's what it says on the tin: a Supernatural AU. Jyn is Dean, Bodhi is Sam, and Cassian is Castiel - but my goal is to make it accessible to those who aren't familiar with the show as well (as for the other characters I actually think I'm gonna make Galen be Mary, and Lyra as John. Krennic is of course Yellow Eyes. I like Chirrut and Baze in Bobby's role. I'm uncertain about Kay)

I kinda like the idea of following the show's storylines for the most part (obviously tweaking it to make it more-Rogue One accurate, and also focusing on Rebelcaptain) but that's why it's so ambitious. fifteen seasons of plot is a lot. but my god, the pining and angst between Jyn and Cassian would be unparalleled

I do think I'd have them hooking up from time to time though, never officially, never something that sticks, always something coming in-between. the ultimate star-crossed lovers. messy, unhealthy, co-dependent, sometimes toxic. but ultimately so full of love.

a little snippet:

"Screw you, Jyn," he spat out, anger bubbling like hot lava under his skin.

She let out a noise, halfway between a scoff and a chuckle. Her eyes measured him, up and down, the way his nostrils flared, the way his chest rose and fell with each furious inhale. Eyes so dark she could have drowned in it.
