RP accounts and such
If you follow fandom content even slightly, you probably know what RP accounts are: accounts that portray themselves as characters in a defined universe, established or not.
My issue comes from the rampant mischaracterization that happens in said accounts. In some cases someone will take a character to RP as, but only portray certain specific traits of the character and leave out the rest. An example of that is the Harry Du Bois account.
Hdb is a really complex character with lots of trauma and flaws, he's really unstable and depressed, but does the Tumblr RP account reflect that? No, it reflects the fandom version of Harry that is basically "I'm baby". The Project Moon fandom also has that with the Carmen account that flanderizes the whole character but that's another story.

i can't help but feel completely frustrated by the group rp community. for all i know it's just the circles i've been in. but i feel like there is this hyper-fixation on immediate activity. i feel like i have watched and been involved in groups where loads of people join, only to put nothing on the dash— as if waiting to see how much other people will contribute— then deciding when it's slow that it's not enough and leave. or those that put something on the dash and get turned off when it's not fireworks right away. i feel the need to remind people that a lot of us now have jobs now. some of us have families. we have likely more external commitments than we had in previous years. i was in college when i started roleplaying. i just turned thirty. and this isn't some PSA, just words i've been needing to get off my chest about group rps as of late, from someone that loves the rp community. i'm a twelve year veteran at this point. i both love and hate it. overall, i guess the TDLR is, i just wish people let group rps have time to mature, breathe and develop a second before deciding to jump ship, especially activity wise. negative vibes negates all this. leave places you aren't happy. but like... maybe try adding to the activity of an rp to aide it before deciding it's too slow. you could be the difference.

i understand having people neglect your female oc while writing with your male muses is disheartening. we have all been there. believe me, i know how upsetting it is. but, while misogyny is certainly still an issue in the rpc, it may not be the leading factor you aren't getting interactions. in fact, the blogs i see make these complaints do have people attempting to interact, only to be met with nothing in return.
stop expecting a grand entrance and praise from the masses upon arrival. that's only a start. then, stop posting repeatedly about how everyone else is the problem. you are actively pushing people away. as nicely as possible, nobody wants to have you point the finger at them when you, yourself, are also responsible, whether you want to accept that or not.
also ask yourself if there's something you could do to make your oc more... interesting? i've noticed a trend of ocs, particularly those that are white women, following relatively the same formula as each other, and (i'm sorry) they aren't particularly interesting. if people aren't being pulled in, all the aggressive vent posts in the world won't change that. your oc genuinely just may be boring. i know it's hard to hear, and i truly don't mean to be mean, but it just might be true. instead of attacking the dash, which will only further alienate you, look inward.
especially if you are a white mun with a white character, you shouldn’t be so quick to jump to misogyny. white female ocs actually have an incredibly easy time getting attention (which is why i raise the point about interest). if you tried to write a muse of color, especially a dark skinned one or black one, then you would really see how difficult it is to get interactions. even with compelling developments, beautiful writing, amazing graphics.
all i'm saying is self reflect. if you can’t do that, this will never get easier for you.

I don't mean to sound jealous, but is he really that good? I understand he made his own mobility aid and he's successful, but he's also a terrible person! They all just praise him because he makes the most amount of money... They never saw what he did.
It's always "Darren! Our most successful boy! How's the company? Make anything new to sell? Can we do anything for you?" and never "Lavender! How was the move? How's your new location? How was it driving almost 17 hours back??"...
Whatever... At least it's over... I don't have to see him again until Christmas...

Thinking about how the elves have zero political representation in Thedas at the beginning at the Dragon Age series and the situation doesn't change at the end of Veilguard. Like they want you to forget that every political and religious power on the surface of mainland Thedas is run by humans.
Thinking about how Warden Mahariel asked for a boon from the rulers of Ferelden, for the Dalish to be given sovereign lands and was denied.
Thinking about Warden Tabris asking for Shianni to become the first elven noble, and how she was murdered in the epilogue slides.
Thinking about how Lavellan is the only elf who is a public political figure.
Thinking about how Briala can attempt to empower the elves from the most precarious situation where she has to joint rule with Celene and/or Gaspard of all people.
Thinking about how making Leliana divine was the most tangibly good thing you could do for the situation of the elves.
Thinking about the viddathari, elves who join the Qun so that they can be treated with some form of dignity.
You can have a world state where you do literally everything possible to help the elves and it's just a drop in the ocean. So of course elves are vanishing from society en masse to join Solas' cause because it appears to them as the only option they have to change the social order. Even if Solas is just using his followers for his own personal crusade, with everything we know about Thedas it's just a no brainer.
But no, we don't need any of that because now we have the Veil Jumpers, a loose coalition of elves and non-elves that is comprised of citizen archeologists who excel at getting lost in the woods and blowing themselves up.

i have not been on the internet for very long, but ever since joining i have encountered something on many websites i have developed an extreme dislike for, and that is captchas.
you know, these:
Tumblr media
i understand that they are meant to prevent robots from using your website, but sometimes i feel as though they are made to be too difficult for even some people to pass, including myself! i regularly have to try multiple times to pass these captchas, because the website thinks that i am a robot, which is obviously ridiculous, and a clear sign that they are a poorly designed security feature, and they are only driving people away from using the websites that they want to use. i doubt that any tech developers are reading this, but if you are maybe you can work on a better web security system that only keeps the robots out, and not actual people, because this is getting ridiculous!
apologies for the rant, but this is something that i have been frustrated about for several days now, and i needed to get it off of my chest.
if anyone else has encountered this problem please let me know.

I'm almost afraid to ask, but... when are we going to acknowledge that there’s no actual evidence Sirius Black was physically abused in canon?
It’s become so common in fan spaces to treat it like an indisputable fact that Walburga and Orion were regularly using Crucio on their teenage son - as if that wouldn’t have literally landed them both in Azkaban for life.
Yes, I understand that abusive people don’t care about legality - but the level of violence some fanon depictions of the Blacks reach is so extreme, it starts to feel disconnected from the characters entirely. We're not just talking about toxic parenting anymore - we’re talking about full-blown war crimes happening in a family home.
It doesn’t always sit right with me as a survivor of abuse myself - this unspoken implication that the only kind of abuse that really "counts" is physical abuse. That unless Sirius was tortured to the brink of death, the trauma he endured doesn’t feel valid enough to explore. As if emotional abuse isn’t already damaging, isolating, and deeply formative.
Canon gives us plenty to work with.
Sirius calls his family unpleasant and describes being seen as the "bad" son for rejecting their ideals, while Regulus was the "perfect" one - classic emotional abuse: scapegoat vs golden child. He talks about his home as being dark and miserable, and he actively rebelled against his parent's pureblood beliefs just to spite them.
This all clearly points to psychological abuse, emotional abuse, and neglect - but there’s no mention of physical abuse, and there doesn't need to be.
Walburga, especially, is a textbook example of a verbally and psychologically abusive parent - the way her portrait rages with such intensity, the language she uses, the way she made Sirius feel othered and lesser. That’s already serious trauma.
If the physical abuse is part of your headcanon - go for it.
Ultimately, this is fiction - it’s a sandbox, and everyone should feel free to build the version of the story that speaks to them. Honestly, I think it’s totally plausible that there was some element of physical abuse involved, and I’ve written Sirius that way myself, more than once. I will again - I completely understand why some people love the idea of Sirius falling out of the Potters' fireplace half-dead.
But that's just one possibility.
When that headcanon becomes so dominant in fandom spaces that any deviation from it is met with resistance - that's when it becomes slightly frustrating. Especially in roleplay, where that collaborative, "yes, and…" approach is key to keeping a scene alive. If tortured!Sirius is the only headcanon people are willing to engage with, it makes it nearly impossible to explore different dynamics, motivations, or emotional arcs.
The dominance of that headcanon doesn’t just flatten his story - it shuts down the nuance of the entire Black family dynamic. If we take it as given that Walburga and Orion were literally torturing their son, then how do we make sense of Regulus staying? How do we explore complex family loyalties, internalised ideology, or the slow erosion of self that happens in environments like that? It reduces the entire family to caricature, and removes any space to write meaningful conflict, guilt, or generational trauma.
The truth is, the Blacks were awful - but they were also interesting. Shades of grey exist, and fiction is a perfectly safe place to explore that. Sirius himself summed this up with "...the world isn't split into good people and Death Eaters..." and it would be incredibly dull if things were so black and white.
Sirius, canonically, pushed back. He rebelled. He resisted. His bedroom alone tells you everything you need to know about who he was and what he was up against. That kind of defiance in the face of psychological control, suffocating expectations, and constant verbal degradation is real. It is damaging. It is abuse.
We don’t need to crank it up to cartoon villain levels of torture to take it seriously.
I think it’s important to remember that the Blacks were oppressive bigots hiding behind respectability - not open criminals. Walburga and Orion didn’t join the Death Eaters; they just quietly subscribed to the same hateful ideology. And honestly, that’s what makes them so terrifying. It’s also part of what cost them Regulus - but that’s a rant for another day.
They weren’t the type to take bold, visible action, even in support of the cause they believed in. So the idea that they were secretly committing acts of illegal, mind-destroying torture on their own children should be a huge leap - a leap which, in my opinion, should be considered an AU, rather a widely accepted fact.
Anyway - live and let live, it's fiction, none of it really matters anyway.

Sᴛᴏᴘ Wᴀɪᴛɪɴɢ – Sᴛᴀʀᴛ Pʟᴀʏɪɴɢ!
𝑀𝑎𝑘𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑌𝑜𝑘𝑜ℎ𝑎𝑚𝑎 𝐴𝑙𝑖𝑣𝑒
Alright, let’s talk about it: Everyone keeps complaining that no one interacts, but at the same time, the only thing I see is "interact with me/my blog" and then? Nothing...
So, instead of just shouting into the void, why not write what you actually want? Angst? Fluff? Silly moments? Drama? Long-term arcs? Just say it, and people will know how to approach you!
1. Use the Resources Available!
I have already built multiple blogs to help people interact, but they only work if you use them!
→ The @bsd-rp-masterlist sorts everyone by organization, AU, etc. It’s literally designed for you to find people easily!
Example: "I have an OC in the ADA. Let’s check who else is there and start a conversation!"
The Masterlist also collects independent characters: consider recruiting them into organizations or even founding your own! If you see someone missing, help me find and add them!
→ @bsd-yokohama: This isn’t just a generic rp setting. It’s a city I carefully mapped out based on BSD’s unique version of Yokohama. Many places in BSD don’t exist in real life, so I used Google Street View to find the location where it could be and marked them accordingly. I’ve included key spots from the series and made sure to create a city that feels immersive and alive. Use it to place your character in specific locations and build natural interactions!
→ @bsd-bdays helps you check who has a birthday coming up so you can throw maybe an rp party!
2. Let’s Make the World Feel Alive
We all live in the same city. Why don’t we act like it? If we were actually in Yokohama, we wouldn’t just sit at home screaming "Interact with me!" and then sulk when nothing happens. We’d go out and do things. So let’s create events and shared moments:
I already made 2 missions, but I also want to introduce city-wide events. And not just any events, but events that make your characters feel real. What are they passionate about? What skills or professions do they have? Let’s bring that into the city!
→ A writer could host a book reading or a literary discussion at a café.
→ A painter might hold a vernissage at the Yokohama Museum of Art.
→ A detective character could get involved in solving a high-profile case.
→ A journalist might uncover a major scandal.
→ A chef could organize a ramen contest.
→ A scientist might present a breakthrough discovery.
→ A local bar could host a karaoke night that gets wildly out of hand.
Think outside the box! Yokohama isn’t just a backdrop! It’s a city waiting to be lived in. If you have an idea that could work as a mission or a city-wide event, tell me (@bsd-yokohama)! I’d love to incorporate it!
3. Small Groups & Social Bonds
Something I love from Vampire the Masquerade (which I rp in real life as pen&paper) is forming small groups, "coteries", even across enemy factions:
→ Why not have an ADA, Port Mafia, and Guild member who always meet at the cemetery for goth picnics?
→ Or create independent gangs, new organizations, or just a group of friends who always hang out at the same bar?
Think beyond basic interactions – build something that lasts!
4. Get Out There & RP!
Lᴇᴛ’s sᴛᴏᴘ ᴛʜᴇ ᴄʏᴄʟᴇ ᴏғ ғʀᴜsᴛʀᴀᴛɪᴏɴ ᴀɴᴅ sᴛᴀʀᴛ ᴍᴀᴋɪɴɢ ᴛʜɪɴɢs ʜᴀᴘᴘᴇɴ.
Yᴏᴋᴏʜᴀᴍᴀ ɪs ᴡᴀɪᴛɪɴɢ! 🔥
Much love,
Tilsk
