So I just had a thought, illusion magic is basically messing with a person's senses, mainly vision right?

So with this in mind, you can essentially give a person sensory overload and use it to disorient and even incapacitate them.

I bet you could even make someone either temporarily or permanently blind by making the illusion too bright to look at.

There's also the possibility to make someone absolutely hallucinate/trip balls.

If we want to go there, it also has the potential to trigger/give someone epilepsy. Heck, even straight-up give someone a seizure.

Now let's take it further.

Remember how Gus essentially mindfucked Adrian Graye with his worst memories?

What if you can prolong it and basically torture the person by making them see their traumatic memories for too long? (Hours, days, weeks, months, a year?)

You'd be giving the person a personalized never-ending nightmare.

It'd probably drive them to the brink of insanity.

Now that's a fate I wouldn't wish on anyone.

With this in mind, illusion magic is just certified mindfuckery and mind rape in its purest form and because of this, it's pretty OP and downright dangerous magic if used by the wrong person.

Or if the person gets a little too creative with illusions.

What do you think about Jimmy as a minecraft player, what is he?

i should preface this by saying i’m not the BEST person to give this opinion, cuz despite how much i write jimmy, i uh… don’t actually watch his pov? i haven’t seen any of empires (except the hermit’s crossover in s2), i don’t watch his streams, and i don’t watch the one-off vids he posts on his channel. most of my knowledge of jimmy comes from his appearances in other pov’s life series episodes and how ppl portray him in fandom.

howEVER, that said, i’m curious how my interpretation would line up with other ppl’s. i view minecraft players as generally fitting into a few broad categories- tho there can def be overlap between them or a jack-of-all-trades situation. and this prob applies more to people who actually play minecraft professionally (ie. ‘play video games for a living’) than the casual player (such as myself hagshdha).

builders: have a creative eye and practiced skill in building to the point where they can, generally speaking, throw down a decent build on the fly (things that require a lot of planning/detail work often drafted in creative mode first). have good understanding of achieving a certain shape and color with their block placements. may or may not include terraforming ability. generally drawn to the game’s building aspect and spend a lot of time/care making things look good.

redstoners: have an adequate amount of base knowledge for how most redstone components work and interact with each other, tho they may occasionally still use tutorials or take inspiration from others (can only reinvent the wheel so many times). usually capable of making simple redstone machines/contraptions on the fly. generally drawn to the game by the possibility of farms and automation. some take it to extreme game-breaking lengths (doc).

competitors: have highly-trained skill in areas such as PVP, parkour, and/or any other multiplayer server type minigame. think hypixel and MCC. this isn’t to say they don’t have their own solo worlds for building or other projects, or don’t participate in smps, but their main draw to the game initially was competitive multiplayer and it features heavily on their channels. to me, speed-runners/challenge-seekers are a subcategory of this.

explorer: this type doesn’t actually show up often in popular mcyt bc it’s a largely solitary- and in some ppl’s opinion, boring- experience. but these are the players that spend hours in their solo worlds just traveling around, mining out massive caves, or doing any other kind of repetitive grindy work as a manner of relaxation. some ppl really enjoy this aspect of minecraft and it’s a major draw for them. special mention for kurtjmac, a mcyter who’s spent 13 years and counting just walking to the farlands in an old version of the game (tho he does other things on his channel as well).

and now for what category i think jimmy fits best in (which again, doesn’t mean he can’t build or do other things). i don’t have a good name for it rn so i’m just gonna call it ‘the sillies’ (affectionate).

sillies: above all else, they’re here to have fun. most, if not all, of their content is on multiplayer worlds (both public servers and private smps), and on these worlds they are extremely social, making a concentrated effort to interact with others even if not legitimately roleplaying. high amounts of pranks and hijinks abound, as well as ‘committing to the bit.’ lots of videos feature them doing some kind of funny little challenge, game, or mod with their friends. again, that doesn’t mean they can’t engage w the other aspects of the game or be skilled in those categories, but generally, it’s not their main objective and not how they spend most of their time.

that’s what i’ve got! obviously u could split all of these into many subcategories, and your average player is gonna be fairly well-balanced. but for our pro cubitos, i think this is a nice way to categorizing things (and it at least makes sense in my mind).

2023 review

an extremely long post re: thoughts on this year

2023 was an extremely weird and fun year of a lot of personal growth! Late last year I had to take leave from work due to some health issues originating from burn out, and going into this year I was extremely nervous about returning to work. I was also determined to do more events and activities this year, which was my ~covid resolution~. And this year turned out to be way different from anything I could have imagined! Not only was returning to work successful, I could quickly tell that the time I took off was instrumental to my health going forward. The skills and perspective shift I practiced and worked on quickly proved themselves to be really important and I felt much better in just about every situation with them on board. I don't want to pretend that this year wasn't difficult--it was, it was stressful and full of a lot of hard work and uncertainty because I did a lot of stuff I had never done before, and tried a lot of new things, and also tried to make some decisions regarding my future. But all of that growth led to some really good things, which I wanted to document.

Good things:

got my driver's license

started doing yoga, which has been great for stress relief. now at the point where I have started to do it independently instead of relying on a class

got back into knitting and knit my first sweater!

saw several shows this year! and I went to a lot of them with friends

befriended some people at work! I always find it challenging to make the leap from work-friend to friend, but turns out going to concerts with people makes that happen. This is also nice bc a lot of my local friends have moved away due to cost of living

made a lot of training progress with Piper. Walking her is so much easier & enjoyable now, and I think our relationship has gotten even better. This has been a multi year project.

read 63 books this year, 13 more than last year. Audiobooks have been a life saver, and reading didn't feel like a chore the way it did at the end of last year.

returned to work successfully, started working on cool projects at work, and have gotten some recognition for it!

went to europe! on a sort of delayed honeymoon

wrote a couple more short stories and worked on original long term fiction a bunch

spent more time kayaking! and more time outside in general, hiking, walking piper, running, etc

got elected VP of the union and became a shop steward, which has been both very rewarding and very challenging

set clear financial goals that I am making progress towards

started being able to eat eggs again! not sure how this happened but it's been a life saver. thank you, immune system.

survived getting covid 😩

started adderall and oh my god....a game changer.

got better at setting boundaries

next year, I would like to work on:

becoming a morning person! I used to be a morning person and then when I got really depressed I lost that power. I know it's possible for me if I take the right steps. I've already started working on it because i'm a masochist

running. I hear it's so good for stress relief and it is so common in my field, plus it is a more attainable form of outside time than hiking (requires driving long distances, waiting for weekend, etc) or kayaking (seasonal, requires buying kayaks, waiting for weekend). my psych also told me that apparently exercise helps stabilize mood and adhd! two things i could def benefit from. i started running today and uhh we'll see how it goes lol. also, i don't drink, i don't smoke, i don't use substances of any kind, give me that fucking runner's high

driving more. driver's license or no, driving still scares me! i want to get to the point where I feel comfortable driving long distances alone, such as being able to take someone to the airport if the train isn't running

continuing big projects at work. honestly I am still considering law school and these projects will give me the chance to think deeply about whether complex litigation is for me.

writing. to be honest, while I still think about my writing projects almost daily, writing just isn't a priority right now. And that's fine. I want to give myself some space and time. i would not have been able to say this a year ago...

using my phone less! something I've noticed is that my phone sometimes makes me feel pretty agitated or i feel overwhelmed by notifications? and that I am happier and able to focus better if my phone is in the other room. for example, when i take a bath I typically put my phone in another room and then i am able to read for hours. I would like to work on this.

continuing creative hobbies. such as knitting, doing more wood working, learning how to sew, etc. brain feel good...

moving & creating a home. we are moving early in the new year, which I am stressed about, but I'm also really excited because it will be a great new space and the location is really, really good. i want to work on making sure this place is as cozy and happy as possible, and also set it up so we can host guests so loved ones can come visit more easily

continuing to build a wardrobe i am happy with! I think I have written before that a lot of my work clothes make me feel like I'm wearing drag, and I'd like to fix that and also continue to knit myself customized pieces I love. like, a sweater vest to wear with a white button down, etc. gender wise i am just vibing but I like menswear more and I would like to continue exploring that

this year I have spent more time talking with my dad and my partner about the future, and while I am still considering law school everyone, including me, is worried about my health w/r/t that, let alone financial shit. my thoughts on this are...I need to have a solid stress management infrastructure in place to be a happy person, regardless of what I do in the future. Knitting & yoga & taking Piper on very long walks daily, plus having stuff to look forward to (shows), has really helped me this year, so I would like to continue exploring that.

as far as work...well I would like it to dictate my life less. right now I'm working from home (office is being remodeled) and I feel like the most boring person alive because I am just. home all the time. I do find work novel because last year I was doing high stress complex litigation and absolutely falling apart over it and this year I'm so chill while doing the same sort of thing. mainly because I have spent so many hours building stress management processes, working on perfectionism, getting perspective, and i've recovered from burn out. game fucking changer! my workload is way too high really high right now, which I don't love, and I keep being put in extremely challenging situations! but that's okay.

anyway. I don't want to misrepresent my life and claim it was exclusively wins this year...there were some really difficult months. December in particular has been so hard. but I'm really happy that I tried so much new stuff this year and I'm excited for 2024.

Favourite OC: That one's really hard! I have so many whom I adore. I think it would have to be a tie between Dei and Ori. Dei's one of my OCs who's just so fun because of how OP she is, and Ori is one of my loved OCs to just play around with. I also have to give a special shout out to Ren, however, who was my darling for a solid few years. Newest OC: That would def be Kira! (The Wayhaven Chronicles). I made her for a new playthrough when book 3 came out a few months ago and I've come very quickly to adore her. Oldest OC: Elena! She's an OC I made back in like... middle school? high school? She's been a character that's followed me for years and I retool her for all sorts of various things. The most recent has been a minor character/NPC in a Masks campaign! Meanest OC: My meanest OC is definitely Charley Steele, my Sidestep-turned-mob-boss-antagonist for a story I play around with with @delucadarling. She's not necessarily mean for the sake of being mean, but she's ruthless and self-motivated, and brutal when she needs to be because of it. Softest OC: My softest OC is probably my OC Maddox, who's a very sweet, soft little equestrian I play with a lot. They're very softspoken and gentle and loving. My second softest (and yet another runner up for my favorite OC) is my darling Alice! Most Aloof/Standoffish OC: I wouldn't say she's a perfect fit, but I'd say Mellie probably is. She's very serious, and quiet, and prefers to have only one or two close friends (in this case, @delucadarling's Stevie and her twin brother Percy) and is not much of an introvert. Dumbest (Affectionate) OC: I think I'd probably have to say Alec is my dumbest OC, not because he's not smart, but because he does dumb things all the time with the full confidence he can pull it off (and unfortunately for him & others around him, he usually does!) Smartest OC: My smartest OC is definitely Viola! She's an astrophysicist, and is intelligent and very science-minded by trade. OC I'd Be Friends With: I think I'd have to say Ori again! She's so fun and unafraid and outgoing, I think she's the exact sort of person who's just a blast to have in one's life.

1: NL!Callista Glover. “The Red Soldier” (my own personal AU) This bitch crazy and traumatized. Lived in Red Scorpion Base and was basically a test subject and didn’t meet Team Abel until S9. Do not turn your back on her ever. She will kill with no remorse. Feels everything and nothing all at the same time. Girly is in her Reputation Era and doesn’t plan on getting out of it any time soon.

2. ZR!Callista Glover. “Runner 5” (main series) She isn’t in her Reputation Era just yet but she’s close. Her mind is literally breaking and she’s been traumatized ten times over and her marriage fell apart in front of her eyes. Like girl needs therapy, meds, a vacation, the whole works. She’s approximately two seconds away from snapping and killing everyone.

3: Ista-Glow. “Rookie” (Dystopia Rising) She is a mercenary. What would you expect? Also major parental issues. Has died before and in Dystopia Lore coming back is a horribly kind breaking thing so def has baggage from that.

4. Evangeline Freeman. “Walker” (The Walk) Has mental health issues at the beginning but isn’t really unhinged at the beginning of her story. Slowly becomes more unhinged as the story goes on. Will definitely need therapy.

5. Callista ‘Cal’ Glover. “Rider” (Dragon Flight) This version of Callista is 14. Do you know how unhinged 14-year-olds are? I don’t think I need to say any more.

6. Glass Woman “Five” (Endless Sea add-on story) Poor girl loses her memory and has black glass armor. Doesn’t talk to the aliens on the planet she resides on much and doesn’t let them ever see her in the forest where she lives. If unhinged because she is very casual about breaking and entering into the literal castle of the alien royalty and bossing the king and queen around and getting them to do what she wants. Isn’t super high on the list just because she doesn’t ask for much or anything drastic.

7. Callista Elizabeth ‘Eliza’ Glover. “Apprentice Five” (Abel’s Buccaneers). Literally became Dr. Samuel’s apprentice because her sister abandoned her on the streets of a place she’d never been in because she flew off the rails after her fiancé died. Fell in love with Dr. Samuel because he gave her the tiniest bit of affection. Girly needs therapy. Not unhinged as the others but as some issues she needs to work on.

8. Callista Glover. “Specialist Five” (Venus Rising). Goes on a mission while dying so she can spend more time with her secret bf. When secret bf does she blames the Captain for not doing anything and plots to kill her even while running for her life. Ends up doing so after the last mission of the series. Ironically becomes the last one surviving when she is dying of a terminal disease. Although that last part doesn’t make her unhinged. Everything else though…

9. Callie Morse. “Stoker Five” (Mystery at 4000 Fathoms). Slightly unhinged due to grief. Literally loses it when she can’t find her locket with her late husband’s picture in the beginning. But she does start the healing process at the end of the new adventure.

10. Celeste. “Bellhop” (Hotel Hijinks). Not really unhinged, but does whatever unhinged stuff she’s told to do, like getting into a dumbwaiter to spy on others. This is especially unhinged for Celeste because she’s hard of hearing/mostly deaf so she’d have to peak through and read lips.

11. Quinn (Rule Britannia series). Not really unhinged, although we could say she’s crazy for dealing with so much bullshit for as long as she has. But for the most part is very level headed and isn’t completely murderous.

12. Detective Glover. “Runner 13” (The 13th Runner). The most level headed of them all. Has a brain cells and actually uses them. No inning was unless we consider how the story could end which can go which her going to most unhinged or remaining least unhinged. But during the mission she is not unhinged and is super prepared. Is a bit of a workaholic though.

Furthermore I am proud of Henry for sticking to his guns and what is important to him. He’s been a big lover of the Witcher games and books from even before being cast. He loves the character and continually worked to try to keep things closer to the source material. He changed his lines. He made them adds scenes. He did his best to try to give us more accurate Geralt and witcher storylines. And when the shower runners literally bash the games and books and showed that they really don’t care about or want to stick close to source I am not surprised that Henry finally got fed up. The Witcher is important to him and I can’t image how frustrating as a fan and actor it must be to have to act in something you’re not as proud of as you should be. So I will miss him as Geralt. A lot. But I don’t have any anger or disappointment in Henry himself. He did his best to work with what he had but his bosses are shit. Happy for DC that they get him back as Superman even if I’ll always miss him as Geralt. He wasn’t 100% perfect but no one is and what mattered most to me was how much he did care about the character. I hope they give Joey more scenes so I can at least get more Jaskier. And I don’t have any ill will towards Liam for replacing Henry. I don’t have high hopes for him and even less hopes due to the writers but I wish him the best. I honestly think they should just wrap things up in season 3 and cancel it after but whatever. I’ll give Liam the chance but I’m not hopeful for the writing for season 4. Gonna def continue to finish up the books at the games and hold those closely.

Sweeny matched his pace, added with some court crafts. However, the latter's momentum did not last long once the former pressed back from the baseline during the second set tie-breaker, which led to A. Walton's ability to win in straight sets. As a result, A. Walton was able to convert 100% of his break points, given his 4 opportunities to break, compared to D. Sweeny's 66% from 3 break points.

Besides, A. Walton had an exceptional service game as the match went by. From his first serves alone, he stood out by winning 65% of his first serve points, 9% more than D. Sweeny, who did not score any single ace than A. Walton's 8. On the other hand, D. Sweeny could only win 50% points from his second serves, 8% lesser than A. Walton, where his 2 double faults did not help anything except adding risks to his second serve and its follow-ups.

This marked A. Walton's second career Challenger title after the Cary 1 Challenger last year, propelling his rank to a career-high of 153 live by the conclusion of the match. Besides, D. Walton will face wild card S.D. Prajwal Dev as the fifth seed and D. Sweeny will face seventh seed Stefano Napolitano. they were like. imposters i think? something would take the appearance of someone else but it also sorta seemed like an infection

first one took place in a school. allll high schoolers 18y/os i think. there was a girl who was the weak love interest that had to be protected i guess. dont super remember a lot

there was stuff before this. but mc runs to the door were girl is but it's locked and they cant get out but he was being chased by th3 monster so theyre kinda fucked now, except luckily some guy opens the door from the other side

idk how they escape from the monster here but they do. i think the monster was mcs bestie too? idk they knew each other and theyd gone out into the school with the mc not knowing the guy was an imposter

and then like after that. mc walks over to the group and says something about them all going somewhere, but then his eye twitches and a guy realises hes an imposter, but he doesnt say anything since rn it's not tryna kill them but it def would if he called it out, so hes like waiting till it's safer ig

thenn i go to watch another movie. cause yes these are movies in the dream. i look at the next movie in th3 series (trilogy) and it's something abt a mom, but im like. scared and p uncomfy cause of the movie already so i try to find something else

i irl have a problem of like. i genuinely think the only reason i watch so many horror movies is because it's the only genre i understand. like people will ask me for a genre since thats like the first step to finding a movie and i always say horror cause i jist genuinely do not understand what any other genres are. like i get the Concept but i dont get what movies are or arent those genres, i get that comedy is supposed to be funny but i dont know which movies are comedy and which ones are just funny

but anyways. i was very clearly having this problem in the dream also. because i really did not want to watch a horror movie but i did want to watch something so i was trying to find...unscary horror movies

i started other which started in a parking lot at night? and it was two old women who fought monsters i think. except one of the old ladies was an imposter now and tried to kill the other one. it mightve been the other way around but i think the human sprayed the imposter with red liquid (looked like blood but wasnt- and it was from like. looked like one of those mist sprays for plants) and it burnt its face

i thought something like. oh it's from the same universe as the other one. and then went to look for another movie cause it was too scary 😭

i think i woke up 2 or 3 times? and the looking for movies thing was almost like a loading screen for the dreams, because i was really only aware of the tv screen (it was netflix) and not myself at all, and when watching the movies they were 100% real, more than i was real when trying to find movies

Wow thank you nonnie!! What a lovely chain to participate in, I love this 💞 my own personal faves change quite a lot as I continue to write more, but here are a couple recs that I’d love to share:

Thief (kita shinsuke/reader) 👹 — honestly still kinda consider this my magnum opus just bc of all the world building I put into it with the demon!au. Out of all of my one shots from this hq thread, I think I’m still most proud of this one the Hinata one is good too but ima keep it to one for this list

Watch Over Me (kirishima eijirou/reader) 🐺 — I cannot tell you how much fun I had writing this. All the emotional layering, tension, and the lowkey animosity of this fic was just such a good time for me. Despite the fact that I’m not the most proud of how I ended it with the last chapter, I still go back to reread this one sometimes (beware of sensitive themes tho)

Fall Into Place (midoriya izuku/reader) 💚 — smth I kinda like to go back to when I can’t fall asleep. I wrote this for a fic trade and went a little crazy with the wc. Def not my usual genre or character but I ended up so proud of it bc of all the emotional development and heart wrenching twists

Shot clock (bakugou katsuki/reader) 🏀 — originally just a drabble that was inspired by a fanart I saw of bball player baku, but ended up becoming so much fun. I love a lil high school clique drama/teen romance, and this is prob one of my fave kiss scenes I’ve ever written 😌💋 (tumblr post link if you don’t wanna jump over to ao3)

No Time to Hide (bakugou katsuki/reader) 👨‍👩‍👦 — if it wasn’t for the kita fic, I think this one would be runner up for magnum opus. I think it’s one of my more popular fics already so I didn’t originally wanna add it to this list but… idk it just has so many things I love in it; drama, tension, slow burn, reconnection, adorable children, and dilf!baku 😔✊ I do find myself thinking about it again every so often so I guess I have to add it to the list
