What are your opinions on each of the songs? (you can answer with as much or as little detail as you'd like)
Tumblr media
Big shocker that the songs from the 2 good episodes are in S and the only one that isn’t is still B tier/sar
The first 2 songs in S made me either tear up/shake violently or cry, and therefore they deserve to be up there IMO. Out for love is also just genuinely catchy and had actual build up to it. Also God “Ready for This” just. OOUGGGHHH IT SCRATCHES MY BRAIN SO GOOD LIKE A WARRIOR CATS MAP. I like it a lot. You cant have multiple characters sing about working together and expect me to NOT cry.
“Stayed Gone” isn’t one I listen to often but it’s so peppy and fast and full of hatred I can’t help but enjoy it. Also everytime the song starts my brain does this
I dont know anything about Welcome Home
I have. Issues. With “Loser, Baby” but aside from those the song holds a lot more weight to it than I usually give it credit for. And for as cheesy as the start if it is, the line before of Angel talking about self destructing resonates with me a lot. Also Husk lays down in a puddle of vomit and no one talks about that ever.
Tumblr media
I think the first song in B is “Happy Day in Hell” and I’m adding it there 1. Because it is the first song 2. It gets a reprise thing 3. Charlie almost gets hit by a truck. Other than that it’s not really my favourite but I respect the impact it has.
“Hell is Forever” just fucks. End of story. Alex Brightman killed it.
“Respectless” is good I love Velvette’s VA, but the sudden start of the song and the ending are so out of left field the first time me and my friends watched this show we had to pause cause we lost our fucking minds. Could’ve been better but I’d listen to it again, yeah.
“Hell’s Greatest Dad” is silly and funny and maybe I’m biased as a violin player and jazz enjoyer but a lot of the instrumental tickles my brain so nicely. I will say though it confuses me so much because why does Alastor care about being seen as a father figure?? My mom said it could just be him wanting to show up Lucifer and that’s it but I dunno.
“More than Anything (Reprise)” AKA “Charlie and Veggie Kiss Scene - Hazbin Hotel”
Tumblr media
This song sounds like it’s straight out of Barbie & Th Diamond Castle and I’m honestly pissed the girls in the movie didn’t kiss so I’m coping with this. ALSO THE FACT ITS A REPRISED SONG ABOUT LOVE MAKES ME A BIT CRAZY. I never noticed this was the same song Lucifer sang to Charlie SOMEHOW but that’s actually really cute.
“It Starts With Sorry” Has a big part in Sir Pentious’s character growth and just his character in general. I’ve been working on this in my Pentious rant but I never see people mention how much this song probably meant to him. Yeah it’s super corny, but he was fully expecting to be killed and had just been told to kill himself. This was definitely huge for him and I’m not gonna be convinced otherwise.
“You Didn’t Know” is really good but Lute’s part is by far the best and I pray to GOD she gets her own song in S2 her voice actor can SING. GODDAMN! I am very interested in Lute’s character development and I love seeing what people do with close-minded characters like that and hopefully Vivzie doesn’t condemn her to Vivziepop Woman Syndrome. If she isn’t important in S2 I’m going to be pissed but I dunno maybe S3 if we get one.
“More Than Anything” Wish my dad was like this! This song is incredibly sweet and I appreciate it a lot. Honestly might go way higher on the list if I keep thinking about it.
“Whatever It Takes” Sorry you will never be Imagine Dragons. Vaggie doesn’t sound anything like herself cause her VA is making her voice so much more gruff for her character, which is fine! I like her voice (the voice direction is not very good but I digress) it’s just her voice is so high in this I can’t even tell it’s Vaggie.
“Welcome to Heaven” is boring, but we got a Molly cameo!
“Poison”. Read this and this and this. -10/10. I’d rather make out violently with Elon Musk.

FINAL THOUGHTS ON TUA S4/TUA IN GENERAL
First of all, I can't believe I make this account because of this show and waited excitedly for 2 years only to feel so numb right now...
Unlike some people I didn't hate season 3. Season 2 is still my favourite but 3 wasn't that bad, just a bit odd. And there were many directions where things could have went.
Mostly spoiler-free, for season 4 I can say:
-It did answer some long awaited answers but I feel like it didn't answer everything, some things were just vague mentions, and it also created more questions.
-I feel like either some actors were busy, or didn't want to return, because there were characters I expected to see but they were either not mentioned, or vaguely addressed, which was disappointing.
-The ending somewhat wasn't terrible, I have always assumed something like that might have to happen, yet I hated how by the time it did, all the characters were so ruined that I couldn't feel even a bit bad for most.
Now, I'll get into some more details about the things I liked, and the ones I didn't.
Spoilers ahead:
Things I DIDN'T LIKE:
-I already ranted a lot about this in my comments while watching but - Five and Lila! I like(d?) both characters and I thought the journey they had from constantly fighting enemies to reluctant allies to friends who relied on each other, was great. Loved their scenes in the beginning of episode 5.... And then wanted to jump out of somewhere. The thing is, I don't exactly hate the way it happened. I hate the fact that it 1) happened when Lila was already with Diego, and had THREE kids with him, that was basically cheating, and 2) the fact that in the end, it didn't bring anything to the plot. Diego and Five fought almost until the end, and it was uncalled for. It didn't bring the characters' development anything. It turned Lila into a cheater and Five.... Well, I've said before that I didn't see him as aro/ace like some other people, but I didn't see anything that this brought for him. I just think they worked better platonically altogether, because they went a long way and nothing suggested anything between them.
And this also leads to...
-Diego and Lila. For me, they were sorta relationship goals. They were constantly bickering and fighting but it was their thing. They were on the border of toxic sometimes but somehow managed to stick together. So how did this happen?! It could have went a whole another way. Diego realised he really loved her and wanted to be with her. I think that I would have accepted it if she and Five had kissed or something, and she had realised she loves Diego too, and returned to him, but no. In the end, it's unclear what she even feels for him.
-Lack of interactions between Klaus and Ben. Okay, I know this isn't the OG Ben Klaus spent years with, but in s3, Klaus was the one who constantly tried to reach out to him and convince the others to give him a chance. Now, nothing. Luther was the one who interacted with him and looked after him, and then later Viktor. I get it that Klaus had other stuff on his head but it was a weird development, and it felt even a bit OOC.
-The lack of closure to some characters relationships altogether. Ben... Just turned into a monster with Jennifer, didn't get the chance to interact with the rest again. Ray was mentioned to have "walked away", Allison never mentioned him. She spent the whole season 3 ranting like mad, now only Klaus said a word. We didn't even get to learn what happened exactly. And in this universe, was Claire his daughter or no?! Also. Luther literally mentioned Sloane once. Never heard about her again. Like, maybe he had searched for her but it wasn't mentioned at all. Dave also wasn't mentioned even once. Sissy wasn't mentioned. Now, I know all if these characters were from other timelines but they were loved by the Umbrellas, and in previous seasons, they mentioned them, and wanted to find them. Now, not one mention... Even the Sparrows were barely mentioned. Nobody mentioned Pogo. Or OG Grace (well, the robot one they called "mum". Not the real one from the 60ies). I just feel like these were left as some plot holes. I get that the last two weren't exactly needed here, but there could have been at least a mention. They were from the original timeline, the siblings had spend their whole lives with them.
-Gene and Jean. I get it. Every season has some "villain" character(s), but I just really disliked these two for some reason. Won't even elaborate.
-Not even one dance, except for Gene and Jean. All seasons had at least one iconic dance.
-The music, now, I won't complain too much about it, but all seasons had some great songs. Here we had them too, but we mostly listened to Baby Shark, which was hilarious but also a bit weird.
-No epic battle scenes. Well, Luther and Diego had something of the sort, but the end battle was pretty lame, imo.
-They got back their powers, and some of them had new powers too, but it was all unexplained. What happened with Lila, what were these laser eyes?! Also, Allison got new powers, never used the old ones again (I kinda get it, tho). Klaus.... Presumably got the floating? Which was supposed to be a thing in general? But in any case, none of this was explained! I thought at first that they got the powers some of the other children like them had but we didn't learn that. Also, Diego, Luther, Viktor, Five, Ben didn't get any new powers. Diego did something weird at one point but his whole thing was controlling flying objects and I don't count it. And Five's arriving at the station isn't exactly a new power. Ben's was a result of touching Jennifer. Nothing new for them, otherwise.
-Speaking of getting back their powers, no epic battle and all, here's another thing. In s2, in the beginning, and then the end, it was epic! They were all fighting with all they had, unlocking new ways to fight and all. I believe they were at their peak. Five also managed to get a few seconds back in time, Klaus was able to control armies of ghosts. Here, none of that. They were pretty weak. And maybe it was a side effect of just getting their powers back, but it was disappointing. Klaus didn't go back to alcohol and drugs, yet he only saw one ghost of a random guy, then a dog. They could have made the ending at least a bit more epic.
-In the end, the Umbrellas ceased to exist but.... What about the rest of the special children?! This Ben wasn't even from the Umbrella Academy. And ok, in the end, only these got their powers back in this timeline but surely, the thing with the branching timelines must apply to all 40-something. So how only 7 gave up their powers in one universe, and things got back to normal?
-All in all, the weird pacing and vibe. It wasn't as serious as season one, or chaotic as season 2 and 3. There were barely moments that made me truly laugh, and some characters were OOC. And some didn't really get to achieve anything. Viktor, with his whole plan on helping Ben, achieved nothing. Five kinda ruined his brother's family. Klaus... He also didn't achieve anything, in the end Allison saved him yet again. And while it was cute, it also was, I feel, a step back from his characterisation because he was shown as quite adaptive and able to get away from a bad situation. Allison pretty much only saved Klaus. Diego had a family drama, but nothing much. Luther.... He was just there. Ben's arc was ok but I hated how little time he had with the rest, in the end, he never got to feel as part of the team, and Lila just... Ruined her family for someone who is both around 20 years older and 20 years younger than her at the same time.
-This one is pretty much for humour purposes but - Luther without pants way too much!
-I feel like I must be forgetting something but I'll just move on to...
Things I LIKED:
-Claire having much more screen time and actually being a developed character, rather than just someone staying there for the sake of Allison!
-Claire and Allison, and especially Claire and Klaus's relationship! I feel like Klaus would be good with kids, and even change his ways because of them. (He sorta did, despite walking away at one point. I like to think that spending time with Allison and Claire helped him get clean.)
-Allison and Klaus! I mentioned in another post that I've noticed that they were closer even in season 1, where they interact much less hostile and with more fondness that with the rest of their family, in flashbacks he comforts her when they get their tattoos, etc. And then, of course, their reunion in s2. In s3, we didn't get much of them but I loved them in s4.
-Allison and Viktor taking care of each other! These two had some really rocky relationship throughout all of the seasons but they still cared for each other in a way that was different than the rest. They had the true sibling bond but I think by the end, they also learned to be friends.
-Viktor in general. The only character that didn't once irritate me with a decision he made. I feel sorta sorry for him because he seemed to care for everyone. Allison, after all she did, Ben, although this isn't the one he knew. He got to clear things with this version of Reginald, too. Generally loved him here.
-Now I'm a bit bitter-sweet about that, seeing how things developed but, Lila and Diego's daughter named Grace!
-Even more bitter-sweet, and tiny bit hippocratic but Lila and Five, before that one development in ep 5. They could have truly had a good and normal PLATONIC bond.
-Allison, somewhat. She's one of my least favourite characters, especially after season 3, tho she wasn't my fave before that either but here I liked her.
-Luther somehow didn't irritate me either, although I didn't like him much too, before.
-Klaus has always been my favourite and even though I didn't quite like all that happened, I liked his development, his desire to be sober, and his unwillingness to get his powers back. I think he had lots of potential, and obviously most of his problems came from his powers.
-Despite everything, the last scene, with all the characters we've seen before, being happy and all that. Agnes and Hazel! For some reason, loved that even in this timeline, without all else, they found each other! And the fact that the kids of the Umbrellas were still there. This is a tiny bit of a plot hole on it's own but it was a nice scene.
-And finally, somewhat learning how Five founded the Comission, and finally learning what the "Jennifer Incident" was!

I remember you saying you liked young justice so I wanted to know who's your favourite character or the one you think is most like you? I've been attached by the hip to this show since I was 13 so I'm a little... not normal about it lol.
also opinions on s3?
YES oh my god it was like formative media for me genuinely and i still love yj dearly i was rewatching it like last month actually along with yaboyroshi's reactions to it 😅 we are both a little not normal about this show dw 🤝🏼 im putting the rest of this under a cut because i start Yapping
my fave characters were dick, artemis, jaime, bart, and zatanna! dick i was Obsessed with from the moment i laid eyes on him in hindsight for gender reasons, probably but artemis always meant a huge deal to me as a kid because she was like the only vietnamese character (and with a skintone like mine!) that i'd ever seen on a screen. i loved everything about jaime's character and personality and arc and i had a really soft spot for bart because characters who are very outwardly upbeat and fun but are going through a lot of shit and hiding it are my favourites ever usually 😅. i also liked rlly them as a duo. zatanna's sort of cool-girl sass was always really fun to see and i think especially in s4 where her sort of less-rigid morality had more room to shine, really made me appreciate her character more. OH also when they introduced cassandra wu-san/orphan in s3 i like literally cheered out loud 😭 shes one of my fave characters from dc comics in general, so i was already biased towards her and i really liked her depiction and the room they made for her arc
i'm actually not sure which character is the most like me... i think because i watched it so young a lot of the characters kind of made their way into my personality in one way or another. i think irl im most like dick but it could be wishful thinking 😅 i'm not as cool as he is for sure
season three.... i'm kind of on the fence about it? i will say though i think it was a little rough with the dialogue especially, and i definitely didn't bond as well with the outsiders as i did with the original team and then the s2 cast. violet was the most likeable of the group by far but i think i was really put off by the fact that they kept killing them 💀 like i get that you guys can do this now with the higher rating but there are better ways to show off your newfound creative freedom than repeatedly brutally killing them. it was offset with the majority of the other characters suffering from basically no visible injuries too- if they'd been hit with bruises or scrapes or broken bones or ANYTHING and reduced the harm dealt to vi then i would've been less urgh by it.
i also wish they'd introduced victor a bit earlier into the season instead of spending sooo much time with brion because cyborg's story felt a little tacked on at the end, and um i was annoyed by brion from the jump 😭😭 tried so hard to sympathise with him because to be fair he went through a Lot but he just kept being such an aggressive ass to like everyone. which i guess was the point.. didn't make it any more fun to watch though.
i do like that they kept with the huge mass of entangled threads of the plot that were to me the hallmarks of the earlier seasons, picking apart scenes to try and work out how things interconnect was always my favourite part. i think the cast of the show at this point for what they were trying to do and focus on may have exceeded the show's bounds though- it was still a compelling narrative but i imagine for a casual watcher who isnt as meticulously invested in who is who and can recognise adaptations of arcs from the comics it can get very confusing or frustrating. its hard because i Love the og cast too but i think with s3 they couldn't decide on letting them go or letting their new characters shine and it ended up muddying the waters a bit, with the outsiders suffering the most from it due to no nostalgia or prior narrative heft to keep them from looking secondary to the original members of the team.
with s4 they chose to throw their lot behind the old team, which i appreciated and it neatened the rough edges of the show more, but i do still miss the s2 cast quite badly so i actually kind of wish they'd kept expanding the cast but just narrowed focus onto the new characters for every season. the title of the show is young justice, so i personally would've liked to keep seeing a focus on the newer and rising heroes of each successive generation as opposed to returning again and again to the originals
sorry that this is such a wall of text 😅 but i think this is one of the shows that i could genuinely just like sit and talk about for ages and ages... even the characters i dont like at all have a fair amount of gravity and heft to them that i love. wally is still alive btw i will never stop believing 😤 get that man out of the speed force!

Are you planning to do a rewatch of The Originals? I'm actually watching it for the first time and season 3 is by far my favourite of the first three.Barring Cami's death,I loved it.The show can be melodramatic at times but the storytelling is much better than The vampire Diaries.I love Marcel and Vincent and feel like s3 could have been a great ending to the show.I think Paul would have enjoyed it if they had crossed Stefan over to The Originals. He did much better on that one crossover episode than an entire season s7.He used to speak highly of them back in the day and the casting is pretty strong.Do you think if, by chance, vampire diaries had not been renewed for an 8th season, julie would have crossed some characters over?
I'm thinking about it Anon, I did watch 3x14 during my rewatch since it was important and I always thought the world building on the Originals was much better than TVD. Yeah S3 was my favorite season of TO I LOVE Vincent and Marcel and I loved the trio of Lucian, Aurora and Tristan in that season. I was so happy that Lucien and Stefan shared a scene and they sassed each other because they are both Klaus' murder boyfriends it was only right. I also like TO S4 it's different but I thought the Klaus/Hope relationship was it's strongest that season and I thought the big bad that season was fantastic, like genuinely scary.
So apparently there's some rumors that Stefan was someone they wanted to move over to TO and that crossover was a test to see how he'd fit in. There's a thread on Reddit about it so of course take with a huge grain of salt because anyone can post anything there. Julie also said after S7 ended that there was a possibility that was going to be their last season because they hadn't been renewed yet when it was written and that they wrote it with the intention it could have worked as a series finale. So if the rumor on Reddit it true then that would fit because that finale would have set up Steroline together (AS VAMPIRES) and Damon probably would have died when he went in the vault. I'd kill Enzo too and have Bonnie go to TO with Stefan and Caroline so Boncel could happen if I were in charge but c'est le vie.
According to that Reddit post they offered Paul basically what Matt D got, guest spot on TO to introduce the Salvatore school, Klaus would have hit on him while sassing him about his wife. Then maybe him and Caroline guest spot on TO in S5, dare I say they'd do the Klefaroline triangle a bit and I think Klaus still would have died and Stefan and Caroline would have ran the school until they died (Julie pretty much confirmed that here). But I think Paul and Ian had an agreement after Nina left that when either of them were done the other was too, I think that's why they both wanted their characters to die they wanted finality.
I think Stefan became a tricky character for them after Klaus was introduced because he became so much bigger than the triangle of doom. Stefan as much as he complained in the early seasons about being a vampire he loved having vampire powers and he loved to "play the game" which is why Klaus wanted him around, Stefan's ability to manipulate people was one of his greatest skills. The problem was the premise of TVD was Stefan's story and the foundation of it was anchored by both Damon and Elena and that's why it was always hard to remove him from either of them. I think that's why they would have offered Paul the chance to go to TO (plus him and JoMo had AMAZING chemistry) because that show had nothing to do with the triangle of doom and in general wasn't as much about romance as it was family and supernatural politics.

Stranger things scenes Q&A.
Please copy and paste and answer as you wish! ☺️
The saddest scene in stranger things?
Max's 'death'. I couldn't believe my eyes when her legs started snapping. I was balling my eyes out at her saying "I don't want to die" and Lucas's reaction. They acted the hell out of those scenes.
A scene you wish ended differently?
The scene where Nancy wakes up after sleeping with Steve, hes tired and doesn't really respond. You can tell by the look on her face that she's worried he just wanted to sleep with her and now doesn't care (obvs we know that's not true, cut to the cute locker scene) but still gets me.
An underrated scene?
Nancy talking to her mum in S3 when she got fired. (I mean any of their scenes really) So beautiful and real. I love the way that you can tell her mum didn't think she could have the life she wanted and encourages Nancy to go after whatever she wants. The duffers really got the feeling right for women of those generations who had little to no choice.
A scene that shocked you?
Wills exorcism! that was some proper horror film stuff, when Nancy stamps him with that fireplace poker ! Ouchhh
A scene that you hate/strongly dislike?
When Jonathon rants at Nancy in the woods, saying she's trying to be someone she's not. Calling her some ordinary suburban girl who thinks she's rebelling, I hated that so much. He put her in such a small box, he clearly thought so little of her and any girl who chooses something in his mind that's boring. As if he's so different from everyone else. He's the 'pick me'/ 'nobody understands me' guy that just annoys me so much!
A scene you always laugh at?
Steve saying 'Nancy?' when max is driving the car. All his lines kill me 'stop the car..slow down' 😂
A scene you found creepy?
(Aside from the jonathon photography scene ) I was really creeped out in the scene where the police are questioning the kids and that one Police officer goes upstairs to get them and says ' oh little pigs..' what the heck was that?! Ew
A scene that's your comfort rewatch?
The Winnebago scene. So cute and mushy. I can't stop smiling every time I watch it.
A scene idea/concept that you're hoping to see in season 5?
I want to see Steve and Nancy go back to their school in upsidedown. There could be so many cute moments when they remember the talks they'd had by the lockers and kissing in the bathroom! Nancy could even open her locker and find the notes from Steve 😭
Your favourite scene?
Too many to choose from but right now, it's the 'Sherlock Holmes' Stancy scene. It's just the sweetest moment. The eye contact! ❤️😭

So Bad Girls, real good, gets even better with Consequences (also cool more drowning in Consequences with Faith drowning Buffy this time), with Buffy's reaction to the coverrup and Faith spiralling and she really comes into her own as a mirror for both Angel and Buffy around about now, I love Angel as her murder sponsor I wish it lasted longer. I also love that the whole Slayers murder people sometimes it happens Watcher'sll generally just move past it. It's just great fallout and great mess. Her dynamic with the Mayor also great, perfect mixture of affection and veiled threat from him and her just wanting someone to tell her she's doing a great job, and it's also a good mirror for the Buffy Angel dynamic in parts I have written down for Choices a quote from the Mayor talking about Angel and Buffy "Keeping a blossoming young girl from the life she should have," which is also gonna happen to Faith since I know she's gonna end up in jail at some point as a result of siding with the mayor. Also like the gradual building her up to be his Dragon with him not sending her to kill Willow in Doppelgangland, her killing the demon who had the books in Enemies (sidenote I have written down great outfit for Faith this episode, and I just checked what she was wearing and yes that was a correct note(Double sidenote: I also did not see that the Angelus turn was a fake coming either)) but clearly not handling the blood on her hands well reminding her of the deputy mayor to casually killing with the bow and then chopping off the guy's hand in Choices and then even more casually killing that Geologist with a knife in Gradutation Day, its a good step by step it wasn't like immediate.
The big sewer break up in The Prom was worth all the mini break ups, I guess, Sarah Michelle Gellar is just so good at that crying she does and that line and delivery she gives in the scene with Willow afterwards "I think horrible is still coming. Right now is worse. Right now I'm just trying to keep from dying," was sooo good. Also I knew the Class Protector moment was coming but it was still nice to see.
Anyway I watched Graduation Day part 1 last night and I gotta say they did a great job this series with keeping Faith looking strong for the big fight with Buffy, they've thrown down a few times but gone out of their way to make sure there's not been a clean proper ending to one of them yet, unlike last series with Angelus who IIRC got slapped down pretty conclusively the episode he lost his soul and survived entirely on the merit of Buffy not wanting to kill him (which is a fair dynamic don't get me wrong and Angelus got a lot of good psychological play), and that combined with the dynamic of Buffy going hard for the kill in this fight and Faith loving it along with the actual fight itself, it's definitely my favourite of the show thus far, and then falling off the roof onto the truck just to spite Buffy so she's killed her nothing great stuff.
Also wasn't expecting Anya to become a regular, she's fun I like her, but also shout out to Willow for being the only core cast member capable of a relationship not with a demon vastly older than them or worse Wesley.
Also also since I watched Graduation Day Part 1, gonna watch Part 2 tonight and then I gotta figure out what the rotation I'm gonna go with for Angel I assume there's gonna be some crossover even though I don't remember anything that seemed particularly weird from back when I watched it all that time ago, though I do wonder if they cover the whole the sun got turned off for a few weeks, Satan himself walks the Earth and Angel lost his soul again, guess that's a job for Faith in jail to solo she's got it.
Really enjoyed the first have of Series 3 but I really really enjoy the second half
okay sorry this took forever to reply to! i'm just bad at answering asks sometimes!
anyway as always, love hear your thoughts, and very glad you enjoyed s3. i don't think the high school years of buffy are better than what comes after (some of my favorite episodes come in the later seasons!) but I do think 1 - 3 are really special in the way they're very tightly woven together. season 3 is about season 2 which is about season 1. there's still continuity and reverberating themes in the later seasons, but nothing AS direct and i honestly love the 1:1 moments.
now that you're caught up through s3 i'll leave you a few of my favorite fics to read:
moonshot by aliceinwonderbra - this is a two-shot canon-divergence AU starting at hearshot that focuses on what could have been different if faith had been present. if buffy had insight into faith's fractured mindset, could that change things? first chapter is the episode re-write and has some incredibly good character study. second chapter is the timeskip happy ending, very cute. and very smutty.
coexist by coraniaid - total s3 AU. canon divergence from season 2, beginning with the question of "what would have changed if angelus had killed giles instead of jenny calendar?" the answer is: A LOT. LIKE. SO MUCH. but also not everything. beautiful, intricately latticed stuff here, dude. major s3 events are changed, subverted or replaced in ways that are gonna have you like :0
to hold off the lightning by cinnamonfiglatte - canon divergence starting after finch is killed. this story explores what would have happened if buffy and co actually HAD been able to get through to faith and pull her out of her spiral. faith's arc is so richly and powerfully written that her lack of full-blown villain arc does nothing to lessen the depth of her journey and complexity. it fuckin owns. amazing slow burn romance here and the characterization is incredible.

ok well, I’m well into s11 and so it’s time to talk about s10
Edit: talked so much about Margaret, that now I’m gonna divide it into individual posts: this one Margaret, then Klinger, then Charles, and maybe some closing thoughts
it’s funny because I’m reading back on the episodes and they were really solid + had some overall favourites in them, but I think my head has been in a “rapidly approaching the end” kind of mood, which has made it hard for me to go into watching episodes that are following the same patterns as before.
which is interesting, because obviously it’s syndication, and so that’s what the episodes are meant to be doing, I’m just being more and more subjective in how I engage with that format. I instinctively want these episodes (and the s11 ones) to give me character insights and building stakes, but of course it’s not going down like that
(on that note I wonder if the backhalf of s11 will have some of that -- not the stakes so much, but big character moments that affect them throughout the rest of the season, or if it’s not until the last episode that these things occur)
I think my main (subconscious?) comparison while watching this is deep space nine -- I’m drawing lines across the two that aren’t at all intentional, but just come from how deeply these two shows have affected me, but of course one of the things that makes deep space nine special is that it resisted easy categorisation by making a series of arcs that continued throughout the whole show and continuously affected and changed the characters, even as it was technically meant to be in syndication (and airing things out of order was consequently a mess)
watching MASH for the first time, what surprised me was that it threaded in long-term character arcs into the syndication format, with Margaret’s arc being the one that I think is the most obvious.
so speaking of Margaret I think that arc culminated in “stars and stripes,” in season 8, which gave me one of my favourite interactions between any characters on the show (the final one with her and Hawkeye).
In s9+10 she’s had “father’s day” and “the birthday girls” which both give us things (in particular was interesting to finally see her father and be like... “yeah, you’re exactly the kind of man I imagined... a dick” + whenever Potter especially stands up for Margaret I’m warm and fuzzy -- “birthday girls” sees a rare Klinger and Margaret bonding moment, and I just rewatched “aid station” way back in s3 in which he and Hawkeye both tell her she’s their favourite, so am glad they got this moment)
but I would argue, especially “the birthday girls” isn’t so much taking her character new places, so much as polishing up some things we already know + giving a few neat character interactions
beyond that she’s been far more of an ensemble member, and not in a way where she gets to have narratives in conjunction with others, except for in “give ’em hell, hawkeye,” in which she’s specifically in charge of the garden + speaks with the Korean kid who’s struggling
In “that’s show biz” she fades a bit to the back after the first half, but it does have one of my favourite things about Margaret, which is her bonding with another woman (and me feeling some kinda gay way about it)
-- I’m also personally very fond of the dressing-down she gives BJ in “wheelers and dealers” -- she and BJ and Hawkeye don’t share as much space as during the hey-days of s7. (There’s also “oh, how we danced,” in s9 when she dances with BJ, but she’s not so involved with the plot beyond that, which is similar to her space in “wheelers and dealers” and generally how I’ve felt her character to exist in s10).
EDIT: actually as with so many others, one of my favourite Margaret moments in s10 came from “where there’s a will, there’s a war,” and it’s the scene where she and Hawkeye are laughing in the supply room. have talked a lot about how she and Hawkeye have one of my favourite dynamics as a particular kind of misfit finding one another, and that scene highlights it so well!!!
EDIT EDIT: I cannot BELIEVE I forgot her scream in “follies of the living” it’s one of the top ten Margaret moments of all time! I feel like that really contained some of the tensions I’ve been missing from her character in s9+10, and it didn’t need that much episode space!
what I’m getting at is that she’s not much of a plot-driver, either on her own or in coordination with one or a couple of other characters. She’s in the main ensemble, but she’s not getting to do much that tells us about how she feels or where she might be going next. there’s a little bit of plateauing going on in my opinion
lastly wanted to mention “sons and bowlers,” in which I felt kind of bad for her the whole way through, which was at odds with the intentions of the episode I feel. I think she deserved to be angrier at the way she was being treated in it, rather than “just” desperate for a chance to prove herself, and I think that was a good example of where I feel like I’m missing something from how she’s included this second-to-last season, in connection with what I was saying above (that is, as childish as it comes out, I want there to be some lasting deep character exploration to take me towards the end of the story. I think my expectations are unfairly higher, because I’m sad)
It also features this one sweater I have mixed feelings about, which she wears reeelatively often these days (I am going to figure out how often on this next watch I’m doing). On the one hand, it indicates a freer Margaret who isn’t so bound by military conventions in order to create her sense of self, on the other hand, I feel like it acts as a softening characteristic, similar to (more ds9 parallels) how Kira Nerys went from being a stompy butch to growing her hair out and wearing dresses in order to allegedly not alienate fans.
so whenever I see it I feel a bit... suspicious.
It’s a hard balance for her to pull off the abrasive, perfectionist a-student with a chip on her shoulder characteristics with the person who has softened, because she now trusts the people around her and doesn’t have to put up so much of a front all the time. And I imagine this is all so subjective, and back in “stars and stripes” we got some of the core of Margaret’s conflict and it relates very much to what I’m saying -- everything that she is is balanced precariously and constantly expected to perform in one way or another for men around her. In a lot of ways that performance relates to how an audience views her as well. She has a lot more to pull off than the other characters, and has from the get-go
It’s nice to think that maybe her character has let go of some of those expectations, but at the same time I feel like there’s so much more depth to get out of the questions and conflicts her character has, and I don’t think a looser sweater can solve them

please don’t let kathony go, i love your essays ! i aint gonna watch s3 in no way (other that kanthony clips)
This is such a sweet ask!! Thank you so much anon <3 I am so so happy a good number of yall enjoy my essays, it really makes it worth it
To put your fears to rest, I will never fully let them go! They were my first and all time favourite HR couple and book I ever read (I skipped TDAI when reading the Bton books cos I already watched the story on screen first lol).
What I meant here:
Tumblr media
Was that letting go of them and S2 did me a WORLD of good. Especially reading more HR, it just made me less insane (derogatory) and upset about how badly they adapted TVWLM. However, this is my personal choice of course! I just suggested it if anyone wants to feel less angry all the time about this show.
This is definitely an unpopular opinion with Show Kathonys and I will take that but it is my opinion: I do love Jimone and their interpretations of the characters, as well as some of the better changes of the show (See: The Bee Scene and Accident) but disrespectfully, the plot and storytelling was SHIT.
I just adore the book far too much and always pictured Jimone when I read the book (fun fact: I called Simone's casting a couple weeks before it was announced while reading TVWLM for the first time!!). This is probably why I was so upset with the progression of S2 especially the end of Episode 4 onwards and I have never rewatched S2 since that first week. I think I've only seen the whole season three times. After internalising how shitty Kathony was treated alongside the character assassination of Bookwina and sidelining the best stepmom ever Mary, it's just too painful to watch now. I don't mind edits and compilations though. But the actual full season (Featherflops and all?) gives me psychic damage. Hence why, I'm 'letting go' of the show. Never Kathony, especially not the ones from the books and a mishmash of the book and show version! They'll always have my heart for being the very first HR couple and characters I saw so so much of myself in for the first time in my life.
I may have a new fave HR couple - AlexGen from What I Did For A Duke by Julie Ann Long - I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!! - but Kathony and TVWLM will always be Top 5 of my lists. Don't worry, there will always be essays - just more on HR and films in general moving forward because honestly I don't really see myself blogging about S3 even to criticise it. I prolly won't even watch tbh but I will be putting out a post on how to watch and not engage with it before it drops! I cannot be bothered and do not want give the show anymore exposure anywhere.

Awe that is actually so thoughtful of you. But yes it was just like being slapped in the face. This is such a non significant thing but I got really excited because I saw that we share birthday and I never read about a celeb with my birthday, then boom!. Then finding out he has such young kids, man. And yes, like you say I just got a new obsession and I'm going to be honest, Aram was on of the biggest reasons for me enjoying it so much, so I'm not 100% sure if I want to continue, but it may just like you say take some time to digest that he won't be back because I for sure have not accepted that. He played it so freaking well, that line between seeing that he is a mob guy who does bad things but also has a sweet nature to him. Because usually in this series either they do too much on one, and the sweetness doesn't feel genuine. But I think bringing up his background and then Thory/Nadia working together is a good way to continue it without him. I mean I do agree with you that I liked in S2 that it wasn't like "Oh so Thory and Arman are together now" but we got to see them grew a stronger bond. But, that scene where they are alone, they are both not in a relationship anymore and he says he doesn't want to leave her alone. Like man, that deserved a kiss haha. That seems like a very healthy take, like I do like most of the plots but somethings gets a bit too much for me, and also as a health care professional, man some of those bug the hell out of me like they do when there is any medicine involved on screen. Like there is noooo way you could use a ventilator in a chapel, you need to connect it to oxygen flow. But in those cases, I just make up my own stories in my head and pretend that is what happened haha and I'm happy.
Haha oh man the amount of ranting I have done about the medical stuff in this show... Thony's resus of Kamdar in his club in 2x10 is the pinnacle for me, like omg how many things can be portrayed incorrectly in just one single scene. But because I love this show so much I generally just do my best to turn my medical brain off and just roll with whatever happens whenever I watch it, mostly for my own sanity haha
I can definitely relate to what you said about the scene in 2x08 with the two of them alone at her house... I think I even read somewhere that the writers considered having Armony hook up in that scene, but then obviously ultimately decided against it. Tbh given that he then has to go back to Nadia only hours later, I'm actually kinda glad they didn't do anything more than hug! Still, I've got a fic or two drafted about an alternative version of that scene, and hopefully I'll eventually get around to posting them one day lol.
I also agree 100% that the show did an amazing job with creating Arman's character, and keeping that realistic balance of hard exterior and soft heart. I have a genuine love for all the main characters in this show, but Arman really captured me, and he quickly became one of my favourite characters of all time. And of course Adan did an incredible job portraying him, and his chemistry with Elodie was just off the charts. The show will absolutely never be the same without Arman/Adan, and that's something I'm still coming to terms with.
And I don't think it's silly that you were excited about sharing something in common with Adan; I think that having innocent little connections like that to the people behind the media we love is absolutely part of the fun, though the flip side to that is that if something bad happens with them, it can feel more personal. I encountered Adan on a plane once in 2022, and now what was once an awesome and delightful memory just makes me sad. And of course the fact that he was so young and had such little kids has been a really challenging aspect of it for all of us, because no matter our specific family circumstances, a loss like that hits a little too close to home.
Anyway, regardless of whether you do watch s3, if you're ever missing Arman you can always come over to Ao3 and find him there. At least in fic he can live on ❤

for the ask game, 001 heartstopper, 002 byler, 003 bobby cañero-reed :)
literally such good choices too
Heartstopper
Favorite character: Charlie my beloved. But also Elle <3
Least Favorite character: Harry, no explanation needed
5 Favorite ships (canon or non-canon): Charlie/Nick, Tao/Elle, Tara/Darcy, Mr. Ajayi/Mr. Farouk, annnd I can't think of a fifth
Character I find most attractive: hmm I'm not really physically ~attracted~ to people in general per say and most of the cast is younger than me anyways so I don't know if I feel comfortable calling any of them attractive tbh
Character I would marry: Tara
Character I would be best friends with: Tori, I feel like we'd vibe well. But also Nick, and also Elle (and, like, pretty much all of them)
An unpopular opinion: I'm not really involved in the fandom so I'm not sure how unpopular this really is, but - Tao's a really good friend, actually, and I'll fight anyone who tries to argue with me on this
My Canon OTP: Nick & Charlie
My Non-canon OTP: none of them I think?
Most Badass Character: Nick, my brave boy
Most Epic Villain: Ben (though I don't know if I'd call him epic)
Pairing I am not a fan of: Charlie/Ben, for obvious reasons
Character I feel the writers screwed up (in one way or another): literally can't think of any
Favourite Friendship: the Paris squad <3
Character I most identify with: Nick, and also Tao
Character I wish I could be: Elle, she's amazing and I love her with all my heart
Byler
When I started shipping them: season 2
My thoughts: I think to me they're more of a lowkey ship, like if they just remain friends for the rest of the show I won't be devastated or anything, as long as their relationship is handled well. But I do ship them and their relationship is probably my favorite of the entire show (esp their relationship in season 2). I just love how much they trust and rely on each other, and how much they care about each other and the fact that they would literally do anything for each other. And like, I just want them to be happy. They've been through so much, let them be happy, I'm begging.
What makes me happy about them: Pretty much the entirety of s2 is my happy place when it comes to them. Also like I said, they care so much about each other, they would literally risk their lives for each other and have in fact done that and more, and they understand each other so so well. Also the shed scene in 2x08 makes me cry every time I watch it, so there's that.
What makes me sad about them: Just the way their relationship has been going since season 3. Even if they're not going to happen, even from a purely platonic standpoint, it's so disappointing to see Mike go from completely devoted to Will to basically not giving him the time of the day in s3 and parts of s4, and while I'll wait for the end of the show before passing any final judgements, right now comparing where they were in season to 2 to where they have been ever since Mike got a girlfriend makes me kind of sad (no hate to El though, love her)
Things done in fanfic that annoys me: I don't think I read enough fanfic to have an opinion on thiss
Things I look for in fanfic: Again, I don't read enough fanfic
My wishlist: First of all I want them to be happy, especially Will who hasn't known a day's peace in four years - LET THEM BE HAPPY, PLEASE. As long as they're happy and alive and on the same page, with no more misunderstandings and hurt feelings between them, I'm good. I just want them to be a team and to take care of each other.
Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: literally don't ship either of them with anyone else
My happily ever after for them: They confess their feelings for each other, preferably on Mike's initiative, get together and live happily with the full support of their friends and family without ever having to deal with anything related to Vecna or the Upside Down ever again, and Hopper despairs of the fact that his kids seem doomed to fall in love with Michael Wheeler.
Bobby Cañero-Reed
Bobby my beloved I miss him so much thank you for sending him <3
How I feel about this character: I love him, I miss him, he deserves everything good and I'll forever mourn the fact that we don't get to see him get that (although he was in a pretty good place where we left him so that's good at least)
Any/all the people I ship romantically with this character: Liam
My favorite non-romantic relationship for this character: him and Elena own my entire heart
My unpopular opinion about this character: I don't think I have one?
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: I mean this isn't just limited to him but like... to actually get to see him in s3! Like I said we left him in a pretty good place and I'm grateful for that, but I would have loved to see him navigate his relationship with his first boyfriend, learn more about the lgbtq+ community, and man the love triangle would have been everything and I'm devastated that we didn't get to see it play out. And also just in general I would have loved to see more scenes with Elena, they're the best sibling duo.
Favorite friendship for this character: the boy squad! they're dumbasses and I love and miss them dearly
My crossover ship: none I don't think, although I did read a few fics where Cartero meet Tyrus and I am here for that friendship

top 5 scenes from tua???
I've actually done a whole Top 14 Favourite Five Scenes thing a while back, so if you want elaboration on what I picked and why, that's a good place to start, but back then, we didn't have Season 3 yet, and it was only scenes with Five in them, so here's a more general ranking. Season 3 is pretty fresh on my mind, which should explain why this looks how it looks. These are personal favourites, not objectively the best scenes, because I would have to think more deeply on those.
5. Five & Reginald at the end of the world (S3E09)
This scene has booted Five & Reginald talking in S2E05 down the list. I love this scene. I love the dialogue. I love the acting. Love the visuals. It's so good. Five is the only one that Reginald tells the truth to. Five doesn't know that, but he rattles Reginald in a way his other siblings don't, and it's so good. Aidan Gallagher genuinely channels comic Five for a moment there, it's incredible. I have so many gripes with the writing in Season 3, but this scene is incredible.
4. Allison & Diego team up (S1E07)
Honestly forgot how much I love this scene until a rewatch, but Allison and Diego are so good together when they're on the same page, and I love Diego almost confessing to killing Grace and catching himself at the last moment. The iconic Allison look after Diego says Luther was right happens here. This scene is barely ever mentioned, but I love it.
3. Allison & Ray on the swings (S3E06)
This one was just heart-breaking. It's the closest S3 came to actually making me cry (which both previous seasons actually did manage. somehow. don't ask how s1 managed, because the fact that it did and how it did is just. this stupid fucking show.). Emmy's acting in this...woah. And I love Ray and the way he was used in here...so good. That scene really hit, and it really hurt.
2. Everything Five & Lila do in S3E03
Okay, sue me, they have been on my mind, but their relationship in this episode is immaculate. How easy they fall back into their banter? Beating the shit out of each other because they are both angry at the world and the other one is a welcome outlet for that? The casual familiarity? Diego thinking they bathed together despite knowing what kind of relationship they have? Five being all 'young lady, you should wear more clothes (please don't try to kill me in the nude again)'? Lila watching him almost electrocute himself? The entire scene before they get back into the closet? Five being brutally honest to her? 'Oh, I hate that smile'? The hand-holding? 'Garlic is for winners'? Yelling about how much they hate each other while holding hands? Succeeding, for once? Incredible. Show-stopping. 11/10. No notes.
Commission Showdown against the Handler (S1E06)/Istanbul (Not Constantinople) (S1E01)
If you want a deeper dive, the above link has a deeper explanations, but these two scenes have genuinely been at the top of my favourite scenes list for forever. I love them both so much, they are so effective in what they are trying to achieve.

Hi! How much do you believe Beth holds herself responsible for what happened to Lucy? Do you think the show did a good job with that arc in general?
Do you think the show did a good job of portraying the girls' guilt, particularly Beth's? If you could, would you change anything about that storyline?
Hi! I think she holds herself responsible for what happened to Lucy a lot, anon. I think we saw that manifest in many ways across s3 and s4, but particularly through Beth's arc with Max and the scene with the two of them in the car in 3.07. I think it's probably one of my favourite scenes in the show where Beth talks about the hollowness of violence, and it's something I personally find really affecting. Sometimes when tragic things happen, when you've been a part of those tragic things happening, it cuts a hole in you and empties you out, and when you just have to keep going, when you don't have time to process, when you just have to keep pushing forwards, you don't have the time to repair it or to refill it, so this part of you just stays leaking.
I think about the intended s3 arc a lot and what we would've gotten if the season had been able to play out as intended instead of been interrupted by the COVID shutdown, and it bums me out that we never actually got to see it properly. In it, Beth would've had a really distinct arc in terms of her relationship with violence – one that began with shooting Rio in 2.13 – scaffolded by three milestone moments:
3.05 - Beth becomes unintentionally complicit in a murder (Lucy's death)
3.08 - Beth becomes intentionally complicit in a murder (delivering Boomer to Rio)
3.15 / 4.04 - Beth becomes actively complicit in a murder (sending Rio to kill Fitzpatrick).
And with the sort of - - mmm - - drapery, I guess, of the hitman arc layered across the top of it. I think had we been able to watch it as it was originally intended, it would've been a lot more effective as not just a part of Beth's moral slide, but also her relationship to her own role in the violence in her life, and her growing acceptance and accountability that while she never necessarily wanted it, this violence has become a part of her, not just since she shot Rio, but since she robbed the grocery store way back in s1.
I really love that arc, even if I do have problems with some of the deliveries of it (especially the hitman arc). If I was to change anything, I think it would be in changing the shape of Fitzpatrick's role, and, of course, having s3 play out properly and uninterrupted. I think the intention was likely that s3 was supposed to be about the girls' relationship to violence, and that s4 was supposed to be about the true aftermath and effects of it through the gun that killed Lucy being a major plot point and motif, but that all got blurred and ill-defined in the shuffle.
I do think another few touchstone moments around Lucy's death would've been good, but I don't think it needed much more in the aftermath tbh? I loved the way it fuelled this new chapter in Ruby and Stan's relationship, and I love the way the gun that killed Lucy really drove the conflict of s4 and manifested in Annie putting her prints on it to try and protect her sister. I love too that I think it moved Beth forwards in a way that I think was necessary – Lucy was an innocent lost, and as a part of that, marked a fundamental loss of Beth's innocence too.

My Top 5 Episodes From Every Season of Knight Rider, Just Because
Season One:
Slammin’ Sammy’s Stunt Show Spectacular. It’s just iconic isn’t it.  Trust Doesn’t Rust. Because it’s KARRs debut episode. Angry car go brrrr.  Chariot of Gold. You can guess why I like this one.  White Bird. I like some character development, even if it’s not perfect. Also Stevie is OK I don’t mind her, even though she doesn’t have that much of a personality. Short Notice. I like the bit where they go to the little town and the girl asks for two ice creams and Michael is like ‘two???!!!??’. That’s all I really remember of Short Notice. And that Tiny guy, I quite liked him.
Season two:
Blind Spot. I can’t remember much of it but it has a dog in it. I liked the dog. Soul Survivor. This one really stuck with me. I’m quite fond of any episodes that centre around the FLAG crew, rather than just being some random crime somewhere, like Big Iron or something. Knightmares. I just watched this one again. It’s great. KITT and Michael have a great friendship and I love that funny little sound effect that plays whenever Michael gets a flashback.  Race For Life. I think everyone likes Race For Life. It’s just good. I like the bit where Michael eats liquorice. It is a core memory, despite me not having watched the episode in a while. A Good Knight’s Work. Has a talking teddy bear in it. I enjoy for comedic value.  This may come as a shock, but I don’t hate season two. Despite it being the season that had the two worst episodes ever (in my opinion, although I’m sure many would agree): Let It Be Me and Mouth of the Snake. I actually had to close my eyes for some scenes in Let It Be Me because it was so cringe. The fact that it exists is funny, though.
Season three (my favourite season):
Halloween Knight. Have you SEEN this? It’s the best thing ever. I have watched this episode many times and share it with my loved ones. One time I watched it while I felt ill so I could be immersed. I even bought a soft pink dressing gown. There’s a guy in a gorilla suit who tries to run Michael over. Funniest thing. Dead of Knight. I really like the bit where Devon grabs that guy’s collar and shouts about poisoned orange juice. I just think it’s fun. Also KITT tries to tell jokes and it is nice. Lost Knight. This was the first full episode I ever watched so it has a special place in my heart. In the script version Devon threatens to deactivate KITT if they can’t find him so that’s absolutely wild. Junk Yard Dog. Iconic. Bonnie does cool mechanic things. Michael has an emotional flashback to good times spent with KITT and the funniest music I’ve ever heard plays over it. It’s amazing. I just like me some angst. Circus Knights. Michael is just generally a clown so it just feels right for him to be in a circus. I cringe internally every time I see his outfit for that one performance. But mostly I am distracted by the strange stuffed animal (?) that Bonnie has on her lap in that scene. I have studied it in great detail and I cannot decipher what it’s supposed to be. My best guess is a weird dog or perhaps a bald horse. Have a look and please help me. I want to discuss this with someone. It bothers me. S3 has a lot of fun episodes so it’s hard to narrow down my favourites. I also quite like Knight of the Drones, Knight and Knerd, and Ten Wheel Trouble (just for the ‘FLAG is a family’ line. I don’t like the bit at the end. You know the bit). And as much as I like KITT VS KARR, I cannot include it because that John’s awful outfit really ruins it.
Season four:
Knight of the Juggernaut. I usually like the ones where KITT gets rebuilt. We also get to meet RC, and I really like RC. Like, I really like him, he’s great. I like how they didn’t test SPM before letting Michael take KITT. Just send him out there, let him push the big button, he’ll be fine. Sky Knight. This is no shock. I don’t like flying so already I can relate. I enjoy how Bonnie cares less about a terrorist hijacking than she cares about being on a plane to begin with. She gets shot at on those stairs and doesn’t even care. She has a unique energy. Knight Sting. I don’t really know why I like this one but I do. I like the montage of them all getting in their disguises. It’s just fun. It’s silly. I enjoy! Knight Behind Bars. I watched this one yesterday. The beginning is a bit slow but nearer the end everything just goes wild. Spoilers if you haven’t watched it, but the way Michael flies into the prison yard is just amazing. Bonnie beats someone up. I am scared of her. RC is just In The Wall at one point. They open a secret door and He Is In There. Amazing! Killer KITT. This spot was between Killer KITT and Deadly Knightshade (I like magicians). But this one takes the cake just for being wild. A bit crazy. Bonkers. Unhinged, if you will. Does what it says on the tin. I like Michael’s red shirt.
Reblog with your own list if you so wish! It doesn’t have to be top five, it can be one or three or ten or whatever. Let us celebrate the silly car show. Together. Also tell me your favourite seasons in order. Mine is three, four, two and then one. As much as the first was iconic, two has more interesting storylines I think. I’m not even marking it as last because of April. Are you proud of me?

fandom end of year asks 1, 2, 8, 10, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 20, 21, 27, 29
😁😁
1. favourite fandom you joined this year
OneChicago. Obviously. This doesn’t even feel like a question!
2. favourite fic of the year
This is the hardest question. Oh my god. I’m going with four fics because if you try making me choose between them I just can’t.
There’s Contentedness by @kim-ruzek. I’ve talked enough about this fic anyway but I love it so much, it’s the first appearance of Alice Ruzek, and I love the line about Kim having to admit to Voight that she and Adam were each other’s booty call.
Next is Spinning Out by @sylvies-chen. Abby writes nearly the only AU fics I ever read, and this is a glorious portrayal of Burzek, their relationship and love and how losing something you’re so happy about can nearly ruin everything. And the ending, oh that ending. It’s gorgeous.
Partners by @coincidenceconnection is one of my favourite fics of the year. It introduced me to burgstead as a romantic couple, and it’s such a perfect slow burn fic. After something happened in one chapter I Quite Literally walked around the house just going “OH MY GOD [SPOILER]”. It’s so good.
And finally, all that I’m gaining is all that you’ve lost by the phenomenal @oliviiadunhams. It’s Sylveride and it’s perfect and I love it. I’ve reread it So Many Times and I will continue to reread it because that moment of Sylvie not wanting to be the person dating her best friends exes but realising whatever she has with Kelly is worth it? I love it. It’s Everything.
8. favourite author of the year
Oh don’t make me choose! Apart from the ones above who I’ll read anything they’ve written, @storiesofsvu and @resanoona. I’ve read so much amazing fic and I’m definitely missing people but these are the first ones I think of.
10. favourite blog of the year
Oooooohh. You know what? @agent-bash. Rhys always comes out with things that make me think critically about characters I adore, and makes me see other sides of things. I love blogs that make me think like that.
14. best fixit you read this year
It’s got to be all the ways a heart can break by @kim-ruzek. Ree wrote this gorgeous S3 fixit that makes so much sense, and the angst. If I ever need to cry I reread it.
15. favourite headcanon of the year
The hoover chronicles that will eventually get its own fic I swear. (Kim and Adam have sex rewards for doing chores around the house, Kevin finds out, for their second birthday Kevin gets their child a toy vacuum cleaner. Mayhem ensues over multiple generations)
16. best BTS (behind the scenes) moment of the year
The first moment we saw Marina filming outside for s9.
17. WIP you hope gets updated next year
I’m not gonna answer this, because I know how hard writing is. I don’t want people to feel obligated to write!
18. fandom you plan to join next year
I’m not planning on any, but I’ll see what happens!
20. favourite character of the year
Kim Burgess
20. favourite ship of the year
Burzek. My babies.
27. best fandom moment of the year
This wasn’t fun, but the moment Kim was shot when we were watching 8x16. Just the complete line of people screaming NO on tumblr while watching it. It meant a lot to spend time with everyone seeing it.
29. fandom “first” you accomplished this year
I wrote my first (and second, third, fourth, fifth, and sixth HOLY CRAP) long fics. That was a big deal for me.

Teen Wolf triads are something that can be so personal, so here’s a list of my faves
Scott/Stiles/Allison
The OG trio. The gang that dies together might not stay together, but they’re still iconic.
Scott/Stiles/Lydia
Any Scott/Stiles/X dynamic is brilliant, but few more than this one. These three have been there since the beginning and they’ve gone through so much together. There’s no Teen Wolf without them.
Scott/Stiles/Derek
They were the driving force in S1&2 and had some absolutely iconic moments together. Hate that there wasn’t more of them after that.
Scott/Derek/Isaac
Mostly based on S2/3. I was very invested in Isaac’s struggle to pick between these two.
Scott/Stiles/Isaac
This triad’s dynamic completely changes between S2 and 3. In Season 2, Isaac, as part of Derek’s pack is a slightly antagonistic figure and it’s very much Scott&Stiles vs Isaac but in S3, Scott and Isaac grow closer while Isaac and Stiles erm, don’t. It’s very fun to watch.
Scott/Isaac/Allison
My ot3 and the only trio on this list that I 100% ship.
Isaac/Erica/Boyd
Ayy, it’s the OG Hale Pack aka 3 teens bonding over being thrown headfirst into something they weren’t prepared for and Derek’s horrible leadership. Isaac should’ve ran away with Erica and Boyd for solidarity’s sake.
Chris/Allison/Isaac
Chris’s struggle between hating Isaac for dating his daughter and wanting to adopt him is hilarious. One of my favourites.
Scott/Melissa/Isaac
Who didn’t completely melt at Isaac joining the McCall fam? The scene where they’re ‘guarding’ Melissa was so cute. As a bonus, it made Stiles’s animosity towards Isaac that much stronger. Will forever hate that this trio was more or less non-existent in 3b even though I love Chris/Allison/Isaac.
Derek/Cora/Peter
The non-dead Hales. Why oh why did Cora have to leave? Their family dynamic was great.
Allison/Lydia/Cora
I know they only had a couple scenes as a triad, but there was so potential. We love antagonism with underlying sexual tension. And ofc, the only thing better than 1 terrifying badass that can secretly be super sweet is 3 terrifying badasses.
Derek/Isaac/Boyd
At one point, the only non-dead members of the Hale Pack (TW quickly amended that). I always think of the S3a Loft scene where Boyd and Isaac skip school to protect Derek. Despite how awful of an alpha Derek’s been, they still care about him and he cares about them (as actual people and not just betas that he needs for power like he did originally)
Derek/Allison/Lydia.
Yes it’s my 5th s3 based trio in a row, but can you blame me? This is 100% based off the classroom scene in 3x02.
Allison/Lydia/Jackson
Although Lydia and Jackson were both awful in S1, their friendship with Allison and their immediately taking her under their wing was beyond precious. Additionally, it combines both the asshole-who’s-soft-towards-1-person- dynamic (jydia w/ allison) and assholes-who-secretly-care-about-each-other (jydia) And ofc, the underlying tension due to Jydia’s disdain towards Scott and later, Jackson and Allison’s experiences/knowledge of the supernatural.
Malia/Kira/Lydia
Comedy gold. Their scenes speak for themselves and we needed more.
Liam/Mason/Corey
Their S6a dynamic is sooo underrated and should’ve been given more screen time. I loved watching Liam and Corey struggle to get along for Mason’s sake because they want him to be happy. It was all very wholesome and one of the few things that made 6a worth watching.
Stiles/Scott/Liam
Aka the best part of S4.Their dynamic is so fun and well-balanced and infinitely better because they’re a triad. You’ve got Scott and Liam figuring out their mentor/mentee relationship with Stiles co-parenting and preventing the Scott/Liam dynamic from turning unhealthy. (Liam and Scott’s S6 dynamic veered way too close to parent/child for my taste. They need Stiles to balance it out) It’s also hilarious how quickly Liam accepts being aggressively adopted by two idiots who are barely older than him. And Stiles takes so easily to playing older brother/co-parent. It’s adorable. They’re adorable.
Erica/Allison/Lydia
Very similar dynamic to Allison/Lydia/Cora due to Cora and Erica’s similar personalities but also not, which has a lot to do with Allison and Lydia’s reactions to Erica’s weaponized feminity. Also, there’s a lot more history between these girls and I want to know everything about what Erica thinks of Lydia after going to school with her for years.
Sherriff/Melissa/Chris
Of the top of my head, I can only remember that time where they were trapped under the Nemeton and that’s simply unacceptable.
Sheriff/Noshiko/Melissa.
It’s a crime that this triad never got scenes. Especially after the Sheriff tried to arrest Kira. I know Melissa bitch slapped him but I wanted to watch these two badasses gang up on the Sheriff together. ( the Noshiko/Melissa dynamic would be so iconic.)
Victoria/Noshiko/Melissa
Another triad that never shared scenes (obviously because Vic is dead) but their power would’ve been off the charts. I want to make a joke about milfs, but I’ll refrain.
The Yukimura fam
Seemed appropriate since my last two also included. Noshiko.I love family dynamics and the Yukimuras are no exception. The attraction of this triad, for me, is mostly the dynamic between Kira and Noshiko and how Ken navigates between them. They’re also a trio that we didn’t see nearly enough of in S4 and 5. Like seriously, where were they? Noshiko’s on the dead pool, but she’s barely mentioned. (on a mostly unrelated note, how is the 900 yr old Kitsune worth less than a girl that just found about her kitsune powers?)
Derek/Allison/Scott
I don’t need to explain this one. The angst, the drama, Derek projecting Kate onto Allison and Allison trying to murder Derek and their evolution to reluctant allies with a good dash of Scallison and Scott navigating his own difficult relationship with Derek. Aka the complicated, tension fraught trio we all loved/should love. ( ok, I kind of explained it)
Derek/Scott/Liam
And here we have a two for one deal; two mentor/mentee dynamics in 1 triad. People much smarter than me have written about this trio in extensive detail, so all I’m saying is that Derek’s that one uncle who occasionally comes around and gives somewhat helpful advice.
Braeden/Malia/Scott
Braeden and Scott were great in S4. Braeden and Malia were great in S5. Scott and Malia are pretty great when they’re not in a relationship. Combine, and you get what had to be a kick-ass triad that’s sadly never canonly shown together (I think)
Melissa/Chris/Isaac
Not actually featured in the show, but Isaac deserves all the parental figures and I want to witness the surely epic custody battle between Chris and Melissa.
Malia/Scott/Peter
That this trio is on here is actually pretty funny because I hate both Scalia and the forced Peter/Malia bonding in S6. But I loved the scene where Peter warned Malia not to fall in love with Scott because a) he has absolutely 0 right to advise her on anything and b) because of the history between Scott and Peter. In a way, a relationship with Malia is just another thing tying Scott to someone that’s repeatedly caused harm to him and his friends and was the initial cause for all the pain he’s suffered in the last couple years. I just find this dynamic worth exploring.
Malia/Derek/Peter
The Hales 2.0. Derek and Malia deserve to bond over unwillingly being related to Peter, that scumbag.
Malia/Stiles/Peter
Stiles and Peter are so fun together and Stalia is my jam. Throw in an antagonistic Malia and Peter relationship and they’re entertaining as hell. Much more lighthearted than Malia/Scott/Peter.
Stiles/Malia/Lydia
To clarify, this has nothing to do with a love triangle and everything to do with how their personalities play off each other. It’s one of those trios where together, they’re either terrifying or absolute morons.
Stiles/Cora/Derek
Admittedly, my version of this is very Sterek+Cora and the hilarity of Stiles and his attraction to Hales but it’s also 3x snark and you really can’t go wrong.
Scott/Stiles/Melissa
It’s Melissa and her boys 1.0. This woman is by far the best parent on this show, and I love the specific dynamic among these three. Melissa might not always like Stiles, but she cares about him and there’s the mutual understanding that they both adore Scott and would do anything for him. Also, Mel being exasperated by the dumbass duo is always funny.
Kate/Allison/Chris
Lowkey another custody battle because Kate and Chris do fight to be the bigger influence on Allison This is such a tragic trio to me, and the lesson here is basically that sometimes love isn’t enough. Chris and Kate both genuinely love Allison and she loves them too but can’t have both and at some point, she has neither. Kate and Chris care about each other, but that’s not enough either. In the end, they all lose each other. There’s no happy ending for them, at least not with each other.
Derek/Stiles/Peter
Stiles just has chemistry (not necessarily romantic) with all Hales and this trio really shines through in 3x01 and in S3 in general. “Chess is Stiles’s game” asgdhfjgh. I wanted more of that very specific dynamic.
That was a hell lot longer than I thought it would be, but what can you do. Feel free to tell me your own opinions in the tags/comments.
