the fact that sasha stayed one of jons soft spots until the very end of the series. even in the tunnels where making noise could have KILLED him, jon told the not!them to shut up when it started to talk about the real sasha. in the unknowing, when he couldnt remember his own name, he remembered his anger at what happened to sasha. MURDERED the not!them, not when it threatened him or even martin, but when it once again mentioned sasha. trusted sasha the most out of all of his archival assistants, even when the not!them was making her the most actively suspicious. sasha is one of the only things jon will actively defend himself over. SICKENING. THEY MAKE ME SICK!!!!

im stubborn and i like talking here's the reasons i put every character i did in side a into the tourney. I'll do side b later cause i gotta go to bed soon

important first note, quite a few of my decisions were because i was trying to get women in here and it was getting desperate because i had to cut out a lot of women for only being "just some guy" because they were written by a misogynist that made her sit on the sidelines and cheer for the male leads. The Woman Situation Is Always So Fucking Dire.

anyways on to the actual contestants im gonna start with the characters that have been causing the most people to start up shit about them not being just some guy

barry bluejeans (taz balance): 2 submissions, personal bias. i think a lot of people are misunderstanding what this tournament is tbh. this isnt about the "normal" characters, tho normalcy does play a factor in it. this is about dudes who are just some guy. there is a difference. barry is a dnd npc who wears blue jeans in a fantasy world and he loves his wife. yes he is a lich. yes he is involved in the main plot. he's also just chillin. like if the plot didn't happen the way it did barry would be playing sudoku or crosswords. he'd be an average man in a very fantasy world. he is so average and human its funny. he is just some guy

tommy (hlvrai): 1 submission, personal bias. his just some guy energy is so there. he gets a propeller hat that does nothing when all of his crew is getting cool guns and upgrades. his life goal is to go home and take his dog for a walk. he gets a chuck e cheese birthday party. he sounds like he's going to burst into tears at any moment. compared to the rest of the crew, tommy is comedically just some guy

ulala (persona 2): 1 submission, description swayed me. it described the list of characters in persona 2 and ulala was just "your roommate that wanted to go to a party". that's hilarious. also i was getting fucking desperate for women that didn't suck ass as i stated above

I guess this is what I do now. Another fic snippet upon you (Jonelias this time)

It's called The Red string of fate (can go fuck itself)

Tldr: this is a fic where an organization and an algorithm basically determines who you are partnered to based on genetics and traits. Jon is ace and identifies as a man, and has been fighting the system, requesting an exception to the pairing program, though it's the law for every afab person to have at least one child, he wants zero. Zip. Nada. And on the day he goes in for the 5th time to ask for an exception, he learns he's been matched and is no longer eligible. His new 'destiny' is someone named Elias Bouchard. (Elias isn't evil and this isn't an abusive dynamic in this fic, pointing that out in advance) ANYWAY HAVE JON AND HIS FRIENDS COMMISERATING WITH HIM OVER COPIOUS AMOUNTS OF ALCOHOL.

"This is such bullshit!" Melanie King slammed her hand down onto the bar table suddenly, and Jon jumped. She immediately pulled it back. "I'm sorry, Jon, but it is!"

"I agree with Mel," Jon's other friend, Tim Stoker said severely. He swirled his drink in his glass before frowning and looking at Jon. "You've been in there four times already, and it's only now they've decided to pair you off? Something's fishy." Beside him, a pretty woman with a mess of curly dark hair was staring intently at her phone. After a moment, she huffed.

"I can't find anything on 'Elias Bouchard' on Yowler or Unlinked. The man is a ghost."

Sasha James, Jon's third friend and partner of Tim's, sighed and set her phone down on the table before picking up her glass. "That's not a good sign."

Jon groaned.

Tim tapped at his glass thoughtfully. "Maybe he's just not big on social media?"

Jon groaned louder, dropping his head into his arms. "Or he's a serial killer." Melanie offered, unhelpfully.

"Or that," Tim conceded. "You okay, Jon? You're melting off the table."

Jon lifted his head a little, eyes dull. "It doesn't matter what he's like," he said hopelessly. "I don't want this. I never have."

Melanie’s expression softened, and she reached over and patted Jon's back. "We know, man. We know. We're here for you."

Sasha slid over an unopened bottle of stout. "Here. Or you can get something stronger, it's on me and Tim."

Melanie sat up, picked up her drink and cocked her head. "I never got how you two just happened to match together. Tim, you're gorgeous but you’re a different, opposing alignment then Sasha. How’d this happen? Spill.”

Sasha and Tim exchanged mischievous looks. “We rigged the system,” Tim said abruptly.

“You what? How?” Melanie leaned forwards, eyeing the pair of them with disbelief and incredulity. “There’s no way. Tell me everything.”

Sasha grinned widely. “Well, me and Tim were friends for ages… and we decided a long time ago that we didn’t want to be split up if the system matched us to other partners. So…” She paused for dramatic effect. “I hacked the system!”

Tim devolved into snorting laughter, but Melanie swore. “Get the fuck out. There’s no way! It's not possible.”

“Yeah,” Tim said eventually, coming up from his giggles. “We paid someone on the inside to fudge the paperwork. God, Mel, you’re hilarious. Never change.”

Despite Jon’s atrocious start to the day, his evening was relatively pleasant, spent around friends who cared for him and wanted to see him happy.

“They’re going to send me the whole package,” he moaned, after his n’th drink. “It's going to have his photo, and all of his information. Do they realize how incredibly unnatural this all is? My apparent life partner, matched to me by an algorithm?”

“And genetics,” Tim added, swirling the beer in his glass. “Don’t forget that the whole reason for it all is to produce healthy offspring. In an age of birth decline,” He changed his voice, mimicking one of the LION’s top representatives. Everyone at the table had seen the video and the air was filled with groans, but Tim kept going. “We must all do our part to ensure our unique traits survive the test of time. That’s why -”

“Don’t say it,” Jon moaned, head thunking down on the table. He was well and truly inebriated, but it wasn’t enough. “Don’t even say it.” He pushed his half full beer away from him, no longer interested in it.

“It is fucked up,” Melanie agree, helping herself to Jon’s abandoned drink. “If you think about it, really think about it, this is a dystopia. Like, seriously. We’re living in a society.”

Sasha made a face, then leaned her head over onto Tim’s shoulder. “Mel, I love you, but I’m way too drunk to talk politics right now.”

The rest of the evening was a smeary, drunken blur for Jon. He woke up the next day in his bed with a terrible hangover and a feeling of dread settled deep in his gut.

Sasha Archivist au

Tossing my hat into the ring to answer 'What would have happened if Sasha had been made archivist instead of Jon'.

Personally, I believe that Sasha as head archivist would not start the apocalypse, but everything would still be sad and terrible. Let me explain:

First and foremost: addressing Sasha James' character. Since she died in season one (crying), we actually have fairly little to go off of. In that one season, we can only say a few things about Sasha. BUT mag 161 then goes ahead and turns everything we know about her on its head. She tells Tim that there's really no such thing as a real you, and we get the sense that maybe we didn't really know Sasha at all.

So, what does this tell us about Sasha as an archivist?

I think the most important piece of information regarding Sasha James, as a character, is her connection to Gertrude Robinson in Mag 161 and 162, and I believe it tells us all we need to know about an archivist Sasha.

Significantly, Gertrude named Sasha as her successor. This little piece of info drives me up the wall bc why did Gertrude choose Sasha??? Gertrude purposefully left the archives a mess so I doubt it was because she thought Sasha was the best academic.

Gertrude dedicated her entire life to preventing the apocalypse, sacrificing literally everything to save the world. Gertrude Robinson, needed to select the right successor, someone who would carry on her work. And Gertrude Robinson, who was an avatar of the watcher, of knowledge, must have had a good reason to choose her successor.

Because it is so important that Gertrude's tape in mag 161 is intended for Sasha. Gertrude tells her that she is entering "A place that will often demand a high price from you. Pay it without hesitation, because one way or another, the world is now on your shoulders." Gertrude has seemingly handpicked someone who knows exactly what it means when she tells them "Do what you have to do."

Because whilst we, the audience, don't know a whole lot about Sasha, Gertrude did. And what I think Gertrude Knew, is that Sasha would be able to do the same thing as her. Gertrude Knew that Sasha James would be just as ruthless and pragmatic in dealing with the apocalypse. That Sasha would make any and all necessary sacrifices.

Sasha immediately saw through Gertrude's mask of being a frail old woman. Who knew that Gertrude purposefully left the archives a state, wouldn't do what Jon did and try to reorganise them. Sasha having experienced artifact storage, would wait and trust in Gertrude's system.

Sasha, who invaded her co-workers' privacy by hacking into their computers, would have little problem joining up with the eye. Gertrude Robinson who again, knows an awful lot, put a lot of trust in the hope that Sasha would be just as cutthroat as her.

Archivist Sasha would still be a tragedy, and would still mirror Jon's descent into monster hood, but it would be a different kind. It would be Sasha's descent into ruthlessness, her making the kind of choices that Gertrude made, the kind that would have the story end with just as many dead archival assistants as in canon. But, no Armageddon. Because if you thought Gertrude feeding Michael Shelley to the distortion was bad, imagine Sasha leading Tim with a detonator to the Circus of the Other.

TLDR: Gertrude choosing Sasha is incredibly significant and implies that Sasha actually was or could have been just as ruthless as Gertrude as head archivist and thus would have prevented the apocalypse by sacrificing all of her assistants.

So I’m listening to The Magnus Archives for the first time (I’m late I know) with my flatmate/bestie right? We listen to it as we cook dinner, very domestic yada yada ANYWAYS

I was scrolling through the art tag, happily looking for anything with my main woman Sasha James, the Best Character in the show, when I notice something. I’ve been semi successful with avoiding spoilers but my autistic ass notices a pattern that confuses me, so go to bother the bestie with whom I live.

I go “Hey, why do people change her hair???” He jokes about it being a podcast so she has no cannon appearance. I tell him thats not whats up, I want to know why people change her hair between season one and the other seasons. 

He knows this. He says its a haircut. I’m confused as to why a haircut would be mentioned since no other appearances have been mentioned as of yet but maybe its very big. I express how much I like her long curly hair, because it think thats the most based character design.

He gives me the same look he gave me a few months ago when I played assassins creed 2 and told him I would die to protect my funny and sickly new brother. They later got assassinated.

He promised she isnt going to get possessed and laughed when I asked if she is cloned but answered nothing as to if she is replaced. I live Micheal too much to fear that he does something to her I think they are both so cool.

Anyways after I told him i dont believe that shes going to be okay I also told him I was snitching to you guys so heres the snitch post. We finished episode 32 during our dinner cooking last night and had guests over tonight but I gotta say Jane is so cool. I dont like her.

So, after seeing this post by @the-most-pathetic-edge-marquis, I ended up going through the Illustrated Guide a bit more thoroughly to look at the ages of all the Twilight Vamps when they were turned. It's a bit creepy honestly, and the woman the woman is for sure not trying to hide her knks with these mostly teenagers.

There is not really any info on the girl’s mother, Sasha, that isn’t in the books, but the immortal child, Vasilii, she created was 3.

Aro – Ok, so the guide says ‘Born around 1300 BC’ and ‘Transformed around 1260 BC’ But at the bottom of the same page says he was ‘transformed in his mid-20’s’ so ????

Marcus – ‘Transformed before he was 20’ But at the top of the page has his DOB as ‘Around 1350 B.C’ and his date of transformation ‘Unknown’… Like girl can you not do simple math!?

Caius – Late 40’s. But same as Marcus, has a DOB but and unknown date for his transformation.

Sulpicia – Described as a ‘lovely young orphan’ 😶

Didyme – No age, but is younger than Aro.

All right, so I start marching my way down to Elias and I knock on his door and I say, "ELIAS, ELIIIIIIIAS! I gotta talk to you about Sasha!" And when I open the door, what do I find? There's not a single goddamn desk in that office. There is no ELIAS in the building! Georgie, half the employees in this building have been made up. This office is a goddamn ghost town.

Not only do all of these people exist, but they have been asking for you to stop stalking them and sifting through their garbage and photographing their houses on a daily basis. It's all they're talking about in there! Jesus Christ, dude. You are gonna lose your job.

Jon: Well calm down, 'cause here's one thing that's not gonna happen.

Jon: I’m not gonna get fired.

Jon: 'Cause I physically can’t quit.
