Big Kinnporsche and his uniform

i know the costume design dept gave the theerapanyakul bodyguards different versions of their uniform to make it easier to distinguish between them and make it visually more interesting (even though the point of a uniform is homogeneity) but i think it's interesting how they make big and porsche outliers

Porsche is out here in his slutty little vest and tie (the only one in his shirtsleeves because he is freewheeling, he is bucking the rules, we gotta show off that shoulder-to-waist ratio). he is new, he is special, he doesn't give a fuck. he is the Main Character.

pete, ken, arm and pol are in the usual blazer, no tie, shirt with a couple of buttons undone combo, with varying levels of undone-ness. (pete has the most buttons done up, intriguingly!!!! he typically only has the top button undone. what does this Mean. what could he possibly be hiding under there 🤫). this is what the typical bodyguard wears—most of the bodyguard extras are wearing a black suit and white shirt (one or two have ties, but most don't). they are integrated into the system. they are a team.

chan gets distinguished as head bodyguard by being allowed to wear all black, which gives him a very intense, no nonsense look. he stands out from the crowd when he first walks into frame—without words, you can tell THAT is a man with authority (😳 <- live me reaction)

AND THEN you have big over here in his closed blazer, shirt buttoned to the neck, perfectly knotted tie, and suspenders (!!) outfit. the whole getup. no one else on the main cast is doing it like him—literally. he is on the opposite end of the spectrum from porsche, even though they wear almost the same number of pieces. with the blazer on, big's outfit gives him the most buttoned up/rigid/follows the rules look, like he will wear the fullest version of the uniform because It Is The Correct Way. he has been at this job for years and he is still so strict about this. he is so strict about this BECAUSE he has been at this job for years. even with his ponytail and edgy eyebrow cut, he comes across as 'I am 100% on the job all the time'. he is All Business.

even when he's wearing the standard tracksuit, it's zipped completely up to the neck, sleeves all the way down.

we never see him in the pool. we don't see him in casual clothes. he is always SO closed off. he takes his uniform blazer off ONCE (making porsche crawl across the floor is hard work 😏).

the only time we see him wearing a shirt with the buttons undone is when they're at the casino and he's being forced to 'blend in'. looking closer, though, even that outfit looks like the shirt and trousers he normally wears, just without the blazer, tie, and suspenders.

same slim-cut black trousers, same type of stiffened spread collar, same big pocket. his trousers fit him well—clearly the suspenders are just for the Look.

the only time we see him in a short sleeved shirt is when they're on a SWAT-style rescue mission and everyone else is ALSO wearing that.

so arguably even both 'more casual' outfits are literally part of his uniform

where am i going with this... we see the others in their casual clothes. we see them disheveled, drunk, unbound from their jobs. they are allowed to be something other than just a bodyguard, even if just for a minute, even if they're still with tankhun at the bar—they are allowed that measure of freedom and personality. they drink, they laugh, they have fun. they have desires outside of their jobs (notably, we see ken in a hawaiian shirt when he is revealed to be the mole, i.e. have desires outside of the main theerapanyakul house)

we do not see big outside of his role as a bodyguard. he is this role and this role is him. there's something there about him scrubbing away all of his personal wants and needs to fit into this role as kinn's Head Bodyguard. giving up everything else so he can do this job, be of use to the theerapanyakul family—to kinn. not allowing himself to think about or want things outside of the compound because those things will distract him. no faltering from his role, or any vision of him as a person is allowed to come through. all he has is just a single minded pursuit of his goal and his focus (protecting kinn). he has dedicated himself and he is proud of that. he still gets up and puts on the whole uniform every day, suspenders on, shirt buttoned up, tie tight. he follows the rules and his orders even though he hates them sometimes, even though he might protest at first—one word or gesture from kinn or korn or kim and he falls silent. he will push down everything else he might have wanted under the role he has chosen for himself, that he has now become. he has already given up everything else for the theerapanyakuls—so, in the end, why not his life? what else does he have to offer? what else is left?

TBH the best case scenarios in my mind for Fit's lore ending on Thursday are either:

Madagio has mercy. They know what it's like to lose everyone they love, and seeing what's happening on Quesadilla Island is just a reminder of everything they loved and lost. Madagio releases Fit, and he reunites with Pac e Mike and Richarlyson, and they're all able to leave Quesadilla Island.

Or:

Madagio and Fit destroy the Federation together. Fit goes full 2B2T mode and there's nothing left of the Federation once they're finished. Madagio and Fit finally have their revenge. (And then maybe Fit can reunite with Pac + all his loved ones and they escape the Island, or reclaim the island for their own since the Federation no longer has any power over them).

Bonus: A very unlikely but "Wouldn't it be fun?" scenario would be Pac and Mike flying down on a fully-grown dragon Richas and rescuing Fit from Vacuus Island and they fly away and live happily ever after.

typing up character sheets for my minor kinnporsche faves/OCs, and currently i have:

yes, he’s aware his name means money. you’re not that funny, and he promises he’s already heard whatever joke you’re about to say

(his mother believed in being very direct and upfront with Fate about her expectations for her son, and unfortunately he’s useless at anything but figures)

became an accountant for the mafia partially so he could threaten people with a gun after one (1) too many jokes about his name

he’s never owned a gun. accountants aren’t allowed to keep guns in the mansion. this is the universe laughing at him for his hubris, he’d like it to stop now please

he makes his debut when kinn goes to order thirty new fish for tankhun (as an apology for his crush being a total walnut). he makes the mistake of crying over how the cost of this purchase is 3x his annual salary, then goes thru the very stressful process of begging kinn not to give him a raise. his life is a fucking trial

there’s two of them. absolutely no one knows their names, just the way they like it

as gross as the clean up is, they prefer that job to stocking. they are utmost professionals on and off the job and don’t judge, but sourcing half this shit is a trial. seriously, bubble gum flavored lube? do people even sell that still? please stop desecrating these top of the line hand wrenches sir, the hardware stores are starting to know them by face. they still haven’t found the right leather sex swing for mr. vegas and they’re running out of stores to shop in, he’s not really expecting them to custom make it, right? right?

when kim first moved out, there were some...ahem, disagreements between him and korn about how much protection he still needed, and kim took it out on the bodyguards assigned to him

this guy went “hahaha no” after a day of that and quit. except there was a mix up in the paperwork which resulted in him being taken off the guard rosters, but he’s still on the payroll accounts and this guy just...went with it

absolute madlad and world’s ballsiest gambler

the way he sees it, this is still safer than finding true bodyguard employment and he can just ride it out. if kim finds out, there’s an 83% chance he’ll just use this to get rid of more bodyguards. if the payroll accountant finds out, it’s 50/50 on whether the mistake is quietly fixed or made an example of. if chan finds out, 99.8% chance he’ll get a bullet to the head, but at least it’ll be quick

their contact is cash. he’s been ignoring their calls for years, but when they called to complain about the sex pool shenanigans, he made the mistake of being sympathetic and now he can’t get rid of them

there’s five of them, each one of them armed with a cleaning weapon tool of choice. i’m still picking out names for them, but vegas would take notes if he ever saw meen and her broom in action

all of them meet up for coffee at least once a month, but no more than twice

honorary mention to arm, who would be a part of this group if he had less of a role. he’s the most absolute unit of a bodyguard and apparently the only IT guy in the theerapanyakul‘s employ and i love him. chan is the only other one who seems to know how to operate an ipad, but he outsources that kind of thing

asako really is such a sweetheart. i think it would be easy to read and say she's stupid or something (and i think 'hikaru' here is kinda making a joke abt her choosing to do this, not literally calling her stupid) but i think she's really perceptive and just cares abt yoshiki and obviously hikaru. after that recent part, i wasnt sure how she'd react, if she'd finally be an ally or not, especially after seeing 'hikaru' at his worst, but the topic surprisingly got brought back fairly quickly. she's an angel 😭😭

Dumb idea: the Teen squad is hanging out again, though thankfully without quite as much chaos as the first time (though they did get kicked out of a movie theater because Pikachu snuck into the popcorn machine. He regrets nothing, of course). And then Arle's archenemy, sort-of friend, self-proclaimed fiancé and reoccurring headache Satan shows up, and starts with his usual melodramatic bullshit while Arle just sort of lets him get out of his system with an air of resigned frustration.

When it's questioned whether he's just the local version who confused her for his Arle, they both deny it, with Satan insisting that the power of his Love would never allow him to mix up his dear Arly with an identical stranger...and then Arle clarifies that her magic is slightly different from other Arles because of being an Avatar and both Satans are powerful enough to sense that difference. Then there's the matter of how, exactly, he got to the Mushroom Kingdom. He tries to make it sound like he went on some grand quest to uncover the secret of her disappearances as though it were some sort of challenge to earn her favor, but Arle points out that it was never any kind of secret, she just didn't see a reason to tell him about it, and she seemingly correctly guesses that he just heard about it from Draco during one of Lidelle's "sibling bonding sessions."

After a little longer dealing with Satan being Satan, everybody's thoroughly sick of him and Arle challenges him to a Puyo battle so he'll give up and go home if she wins. Which she does, of course. Everybody's a bit worried about Arle having to deal with that, but she insists that it's no big deal and she knows how to handle him. Though, when Sora asks if he's going to keep showing up and causing problems now that he's done it once, she rather nonchalantly goes "yeah, probably."

I've always headcanoned that Earthbound takes place over summer vacation, and in Mother 3 there is no formal education system in Tazmily (even after modernization), so there is no school to ditch. Ninten was definitely skipping school throughout Earthbound Beginnings though.

I don't know what hurts more

The fact that Porsche knew that he has to leave Kinn and that it's gonna hurt him and their relationship.

But he made sure to tell Kinn that he loves him in both of their respected love languages. (The I love you verbally in the pool and then the note being Porsche's and the whole sex and then even if Kinn was sleeping caressing Kinn's face lovingly being Kinn's)

It's like he knew what conclusion Kinn is going to come to based on the fact that he took Chay with him but still he couldn't try to make sure that Kinn will know that he is loved.

That Porsche is sorry that he has to do this but he loves him so much he tries to communicate it in every language.

Like Porsche can put up with Kinn distrust and hurt but he can't bear Kinn thinking he was never loved so he tries to tell him that for the last time, reassure him, them, that there is love.

Or maybe the fact that hurts more

Is that due to his previous relationship and trauma Kinn will feel like he can't trust this love, not spoken in Porsche's language and not even in his.

Because both of them has been used against him before and try as Porsche might to assure that Kinn was loved it didn't fucking feel like it when he saw him driving away from him.
