The Edge Of Something Real
Bucky Barnes x thunderbolts!reader
Summary: Bucky Barnes falls for a tough new Thunderbolts* teammate and risks everything to save her when she’s injured on a mission, revealing their growing bond.
Word count: 1,490
Notes: no thunderbolts* spoilers :)
Bucky Barnes wasn’t one for first impressions anymore.
He’d learned long ago that people were complicated, layered, and often disappointing. But the new recruit on the thunderbolts* team? She shattered every expectation from the moment she walked in.
Her name wasn’t important at first. What stood out was how she carried herself—calm, controlled, eyes like fire. She didn’t try to impress anyone. She didn’t talk much. And when Valentina tossed her into a sparring match with Ghost during her first week, she didn’t flinch. She won.
She was fast, brutal, and efficient. Bucky knew killers when he saw them. And she was one.
So maybe it made sense that he couldn’t stop watching her.
⸻
The first time they actually spoke was in the training room.
Bucky was working the punching bag with quiet precision, sweat dripping from his brow. She walked in without a word, unzipped her jacket, and started stretching on the mat beside him.
“Nice work with Taskmaster yesterday,” he offered, not looking at her directly.
She raised an eyebrow. “You saw that?”
“I hear everything.”
She smirked. “You always this chatty, Barnes?”
That made him glance over. “Only when someone impresses me.”
She tilted her head slightly. “Then you’re hard to impress.”
“Exactly.”
She let out a dry laugh, then started wrapping her hands. “Good. Wouldn’t want things to be too easy around here.”
They trained in silence after that, but it was a comfortable one. Bucky couldn’t help glancing over at her form—sharp, purposeful, never wasting energy. She didn’t just fight well. She moved like someone who survived things most people couldn’t imagine.
And that… he understood.
⸻
Weeks passed, and the team started gelling in that broken, violent way the Thunderbolts* were known for. The missions were ugly, high-risk, and rarely clean. But she never hesitated. She kept up with the chaos, stood her ground with Yelena and U.S. Agent, and even earned Taskmaster’s rare nod of respect.
Bucky watched her more than he admitted. Not just in combat, but in the little things. How she patched her gear herself. How she didn’t talk about her past but carried it in her posture. How she always volunteered to scout ahead alone.
She was a lone wolf. Just like he used to be.
So when she got hit—really hit—during a botched extraction in Prague, Bucky’s reaction surprised even himself.
She was bleeding, her shoulder torn open, pinned down by gunfire.
“I got her!” he shouted before anyone else could respond, already breaking formation.
He reached her under heavy fire, shielded her with his body, and hauled her behind a wall.
“You’re an idiot,” she grunted, wincing as he checked the wound.
“Probably,” he muttered. “But I’m your idiot now, so shut up and let me stop the bleeding.”
She blinked at him, stunned—not just by the pain but by him. For once, she didn’t argue.
⸻
Back at base, after stitches and silence, she found him alone, cleaning weapons.
“You didn’t have to do that,” she said softly.
He didn’t look up. “Yeah, I did.”
“Why?”
Finally, he met her gaze. “Because you’re not just another soldier to me.”
She swallowed hard. “Then what am I?”
Bucky set the gun down and stood. There was a storm in his eyes, the kind that carried decades of regret—and something else, something fragile.
“You make me remember I’m still human.”
She didn’t respond right away. She didn’t need to. The look in her eyes said it all.
So did the way she stepped closer, reached for his hand, and didn’t let go.
⸻
They didn’t talk about it much. Not in words. Their connection grew in looks, in quiet touches, in the way Bucky stood a little closer to her in the field. In how she learned to read his silences.
They started sparring more—sometimes as an excuse to be alone, other times because it was the only way they knew how to connect. When she knocked him down one afternoon, he grabbed her wrist and pulled her on top of him.
They stared at each other, breaths shallow.
“Gonna kiss me or keep pretending we’re just teammates?” she whispered.
Bucky chuckled, voice low. “Depends. You gonna let me?”
She didn’t answer. She kissed him instead.
It was sharp and slow and messy in all the ways that made him feel alive again.
⸻
Of course, nothing stayed easy for long.
During a covert mission in Madripoor, she got separated from the team—and vanished.
They searched for hours. Then days.
Valentina declared her MIA. The team prepared to move on.
But Bucky refused.
“She’s not dead,” he snapped. “I know she’s not.”
“You’re letting feelings cloud your judgment,” Taskmaster warned him.
“Good,” he growled. “It means I’m not a damn machine anymore.”
He found her two days later, trapped in a holding cell underground, barely conscious. He broke the lock with his metal arm and carried her out himself.
Her voice was weak. “Took you long enough.”
“You knew I’d come?”
She smiled faintly. “You always do.”
⸻
After that, something shifted. She didn’t push people away as much. She let him in, piece by piece—her real name, the reason she joined the team, the life she lost before this one.
And Bucky? He opened up in return. Told her about the nightmares, the guilt, the weight of being someone the world used and feared in equal measure.
They weren’t perfect. But together, they weren’t alone anymore.
One night, as they lay in bed in some safe house far from war, she whispered, “You think we deserve this?”
“I don’t know,” he replied, fingers tracing lazy circles on her back. “But I want it anyway.”
She closed her eyes and rested her head on his chest.
And for once, neither of them dreamed of blood.

Hi, love your page! Could you do Hu Tao, Amber, Shenhe and Ganyu(or any characters you want if you don’t want to write these) with a partner who turns out to be a werewolf?
a full moon!
❀--❀--❀--❀--❀--❀--❀--❀--❀--❀--❀--❀--❀--❀
them with a werewolf S/O!
thanks for the ask!
various characters x werewolf!reader
characters: hu tao, amber, shenhe, ganyu
warnings: none
a/n:
-werewolf!reader can't control their transformation during a full moon, when normally they can
-werewolf!reader doesn't like, lose control of themselves when they transform
─── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ───
hu tao -`✮´-
• she'll already be suspicious since you're always "staying the night at your parents" on nights with a full moon
• curiosity will eventually get the better of her and she'll secretly tail you when you're "going to your parents house"
• when she discovers you're a werewolf, she isn't scared or anything, instead she thinks it's the coolest thing in the world!
• best of all, you only seem to change appearance, not the way you act!
• if you're worried that she's not going to look at you the same, don't worry! she still loves you just as much as she did before, maybe even more now that she's found out <3
• will love to sleep with you when you're in wolf form! she loves your fluffy fur, and she feels safe and protected when you wrap your tail around her!
• she'll expect you to let her ride on your back though
─── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ───
amber -`✮´-
• she'll be nervous when she first witnesses you transform during a full moon, approaching you carefully
• once you demonstrate to her that you aren't a threat, and basically the same ignoring the appearance change, she becomes curious, examining you up and down
• she'll agree to keep this a secret from the general public, but will notify jean and the knights of favonius so they don't hurt you when they're out patrolling and run into wolf-you
• she learns that you're a pretty good fighter in wolf form, so she loves when you agree to join her on her expeditions!
• she'll also put it on herself to make sure your coat is always properly cleaned and groomed
─── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ───
shenhe -`✮´-
"S/O?"
• because of her ropes, she would be calm, but also because she could probably easily subdue you without bringing harm to either party
• once she deems you unthreatening, won't even ask you any questions, but will just silently spend the night with you
• will take you to visit cloud retainer and ask her how to properly take care of you
• probably won't tell you to transform often, but she does enjoy sparring with wolf-you, being extra careful as to not cause you any harm
• whenever it's a full moon, she will accompany you and stay with you until you can turn back to normal so you don't feel lonely <3
─── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ───
ganyu -`✮´-
• will be mesmerized as she witnesses your transformation, but her heart shatters when you just just simply curl up in a small cave and wait for morning to come
• too think you've been going through this all alone is enough for her throw all rationality out the window, and jump out from the back of the tree she was hiding behind and run towards you
• will apologize for not realizing it earlier, for making you bear all the weight yourself, even though it isn't anywhere near her fault </3
• on a lighter note, you become her favorite place to take her afternoon nap!
• her heart always melts whenever she spots you from her window at the pavilion, laying down in your wolf form, waiting for her to come nap at her favorite spot
• best believe she comes running
a/n: thanks for reading!!!!
sorry for any typos!!

Cunning Of The Wolf: How Ambessa seized control
**Spoilers For All of Arcane**
Ambessa Medarda is truly terrifying physically. She towers over most people that she meets. She has an extremely imposing physique but she isn't just strong, she's fast also. She's also covered in scars and you have no trouble believing each of them came from combat. True Caitlyn had been cracked over the head and stabbed, but it takes Caitlyn and Mel both, to BARELY take Ambessa on at the end of the show.
But to me, what really stands out is her mind. She is truly a master manipulator. She wields Caitlyn like a puppet on a string and takes control of the twin cities in front of every ruling family with absolutely zero resistance. So, I wanted to spend a little time digging into it, both to give due credit to the amazing villain, and to emphasize my point I have been focusing on lately. Caitlyn never stood a chance.
WHAT SHE WANTS:
"If there is a chance hex-tech can be weaponized, we must have it"
Ambessa is not shy once she is alone with Mel. We don't learn the name of the threat to them until later, but Ambessa has come because they are threatened by The Black Rose, and with the innovations in Hex-Tech, Ambessa sees an opportunity. The issue of course, is that when she first arrives, it has not been weaponized. Mel knows what Ambessa intends. They argue and Mel outright accuses Ambessa of wanting to start a war to push hex-tech into being weaponized. Ambessa does not deny it, and instructs her daughter:
"Let the war unfold..."
THE OBSTACLE:
There are in fact more than just the council standing in the way of Ambessa's aims, but ultimately what she wants is control. The easiest way to deal with Mel's resistance, Jayce's hesitance, all of that is to seize control.
The Opening:
"War is coming, you've let the problems of your undercity fester too long"
Ambessa has recognized that the conflict with Zaun is pushing Jayce toward the development of hex-tech weapons, therefore giving her the door she needs to start working toward her aims.
HOW SHE DOES IT:
Attack On The Council: (I'm not saying she orchestrated this don't quit on me )
The attack by Jinx on the council is actually what save's Ambessa's aspirations. They are moments from granting freedom to Zaun when Jinx's rocket crashes into the chamber, killing three councilors and severely wounding two more. This gives her the opening she needs to start manipulating Councilor Salo.
Salo is pushed into the meeting after the attack by Ambessa herself. We of course learn later they have been promising him leadership, but he speaks of his plan to flood the undercity with Enforcers armed with hex-tech. But Ambessa is thwarted. Her own daughter is defeated in opposing the invasion, but will not concede on hex-tech. So Ambessa makes her next move.
2. The Attack On The Memorial:
This entire incident is orchestrated by Ambessa herself, as we learn later. One of the primary objections to the use of hex-tech in the invasion force was that the attack on the council was the action of a "single deranged individual". Ambessa has now ensured Mel can't use that to defy her, by assisting a full scale attack by a group of undercity warriors. Additionally, Ambessa has shown the "need" for hex-tech weapons by showing what can happen to Piltover forces caught unawares when facing Shimmer.
*It is worth noting that Vi notices Ambessa looking at Caitlyn closely after the attack even before she marches into the council meeting. I suspect Ambessa's plan for Caitlyn was forming since that initial meeting, but hard to say*
It seems fair to say that Caitlyn interrupting the council meeting to announce her strike team plan was a deviation from Ambessa's aims. But Ambessa is clever and adaptable. So when Caitlyn tells them they are not up for an invasion but she is leading a team wielding hex-tech, the impressed and pleased look on Ambessa's face tells us all we need to know. Her weapons are made, and she has her new scapegoat.
3. Taking Control:
Ambessa's whole handling of this scene is terrifyingly brilliant. Let's run it down:
Blames Amara's killing on Zaun: She killed Amara due to Black Rose conflict. But uses this to stoke fear in the crowd for families.
"you've given Zaun opportunity after opportunity, to repair their wrongs" :Obviously a blatant lie and not really anything to do with the current situation. But it stokes that indignant anger, Us VS Them. "Yea we have!"
"How have they answered?": Makes a point of showing the little kid after Jinx using the grey (act of a single person), "half your council is dead" (act of a single person), your memorial is made a massacre (her fault), but we keep driving that indignant anger!
"Wrath must be met with wrath": Its proportional. they did it. so we can do it. its fair! its just!. Validating their anger and desire to hurt.
"Declare Martial law": Appoint a general to lead. "Until all our families are safe"(stoking that fear), she and her soldiers will be at their disposal (I'm here, don't worry, you can trust me, comforting them)
"Caitlyn! Kiramman!" : Starts thumping her chest, her soldiers immediately join , then the enforcers. Caitlyn looks afraid, confused, in shock, but when Ambessa calls her up her feet move like she isn't even aware of it. Mob Mentality
"Your mother will have justice": How does she lock Caitlyn in? By swearing the thing she knows is causing so much pain will be answered. Validating her anger, building that trust, and making her part of the mob.
Summary:
So what has Ambessa effectively done?:
Exacerbate conflict: Memorial Attack
Exploiting fear: Lying to powerful families and enforcers and twisting events to suggest greater threat than is real
Installing Puppet Leader: Choosing young, grieving, isolated and angry young woman who thanks to her recent mission fits every detail Ambessa describes to the crowd. As well as one with a hole in her life Ambessa knows she can fill.
Caitlyn:
I only yesterday posted a discussion/psychotic rant relating to Caitlyn's time as the "dictator" so we aren't getting into all of that here. I just wanted to touch on two main things regarding Ambessa's manipulation and and control of Caitlyn during this darkest time of her life.
One on One:
Caitlyn has two major holes in her life that have left her open to manipulation. The loss of her mother, and the loss of Vi. Ambessa expertly weaponizes both. Regarding her personal relationship with Caitlyn and her becoming a stand-in maternal figure to her, my delving into this lead me to the concept of what is called a "Push and Pull Relationship". Psychcentral.com states that:
"In a push-pull relationship, one partner may oscillate, move back and forth between two points, between moments of pulling, like:
intense closeness
affection
attention
Followed by periods of pushing, such as:
distancing
aloofness
hostility
This cycle repeats, creating a pattern of instability and emotional highs and lows within the relationship.""
And among many other reasons, lists the desire to exert power and control as a reason people do this.
So, using this approach and keeping in mind the lens of power dynamics and how a woman more than thirty years older may keep Caitlyn off-balance and easily manipulated, let's look at the following conversation:
Caitlyn: " Was it for my encouragement that your man Rictus was instigating violence?" Ambessa: "You don't trust me" (PUSH: Guilt trip) Caitlyn: "The blade cuts both ways" Ambessa: "Fearless child, you never shy" (PULL: Affirmation) Caitlyn: "You have a recommendation?" Ambessa: "If it wasn't Jinx at the checkpoint, one of them knows where she is." Caitlyn: "Arrests require cause" Ambessa: "What greater cause is there than returning peace to this city?" [hand on Caitlyn's shoulder]: (PUSH: Challenges but softens) Caitlyn: "Why is peace always the justification for violence?" Ambessa: "We've lost so many. the anger, the sorry, it's tiring. Gods I know it's tiring(PULL: shared grief and pain) But you will never rest knowing that she's out there (PUSH: Pressure to act, Ambessa knows better what she needs) Or maybe I underestimated you. Maybe you have the strength I do not. To forgive, and trust in tomorrow. The decision is yours commander" (PULL: Admits her own weakness, lets Caitlyn think she has agency)
Ambessa has Caitlyn on her back foot the entire conversation. But sure, Caitlyn is running the show.
Her Relationship With Vi:
Just as a closing note. If everything we had already discussed was not enough for you, Ambessa literally plants a spy in Caitlyn's bed. Yes Caitlyn lets Maddie into her bed to distract herself from Vi, but the fact even in the privacy of her bed Ambessa is manipulating and controlling Caitlyn is very disturbing.
Conclusion:
All-in-all Ambessa was a truly imposing woman. She deals terror on the battlefield with her bare hands and seizes control of a city with the only blood shed by being a Black Rose cultist. She is clever, and merciless, and truly a force to be reckoned with. I hope you get something out of this, and if not, well.. thanks for reading anyway!

Okayyy so i just had a idea and since you are amazinggggg with tvdu fan fiction, thought I might a request😅
Basically, yn is a wolf but for some reason or another, her puppy sized wolf is out of control and so whenever she gets emotional, she slowly starts transforming, like first she will get the ears and like the shift is slow but not painful anymore since it has been happening a lot and she just gets a headache.
Elena's gang except for Tyler and bonnie dislike her and Caroline doesn't have much of an opinion. She is usually a happy person since she is homeschooled so doesn't have to deal with any bullies or anything.
Klaus finds her with teary eyes and her wolf puppy ears out as she tries to stop herself from full on crying.
Klaus takes her in and cares for her and helps her control her wolf side so that her emotions don't control them. At this point, she loves her wolf form so much that Klaus has to scold her and treat her kinda like am actual naughty puppy and he even has a hard time keeping her in human form because she has learned that she can run off in her wolf form and not have to study
-✨

Tamed and trained
Y/n’s parents had always been worried about her. She wasn’t exactly normal, being a werewolf anyways was hard enough let alone a completely out of control one. They assumed there must have been some sort of mutation in the gene system or something similar which caused her to turn at any time, like how only few vampires were rippers and few witches were siphoners.
They had been to the Bennett’s who told them that this had only happened a very rare few times since the first werewolf was created and that she would learn control as she grew.
Of course their first fear was she would be picked on, misunderstood and seen as a monster, so they kept her inside. And then they worried that her werewolf anger would be 10x worse as instead of having emotions heightened on a full moon, hers are 24/7. But it turned out she showed nearly every emotion but anger. But the tears were the worst. As soon as they started falling they knew they needed to hide her asap. The ears would sprout from her head, then the tail and claws, the nose and paws, until she were howling her sorrows for the world to hear.
And gosh did she cry when she was little, always in a puddle of pity and fear of her own shadow.
He parents had pretty much given up with trying to control her. Just locking her in the house and telling her to be quiet while they went out and tried to live like normal people, pretend they didn’t have a daughter that the council would kill to obtain.
When Bonnie grew up they tried to convince her to spell Y/n but Bonnie refused when she saw the fluffy ears a big sad eyes looking back at her.
They tried to have Tyler help her when he broke his curse but he wasn’t sure what to do either other than bond over the experience of being in wolf form.
So she continued to hide inside, only getting out when her parents had gone away, most likely to get drunk and forget their worries.
She knew she was an inconvenience for them but the harder she tried to control herself, the worse it made her feel and then she ended up turning again. She didn’t know how to fix the cycle she was trapped within.
But on that day, her parents had gotten a little too angry at her. Called her a freak and a mistake causing her to run as far as she could on her human legs, praying to god that she wouldn’t turn halfway through a step.
She huddled up to the big willow tree besides the Mystic Park and kept their until dark. Her sniffles were the only sound heard as she wiped her eyes and cheeks.
Her knees dragged to her chest and she rest her chin on top of them as she kept her cries to a minimum, hiccuping as she tried to fully stop.
It was the sound that drew Klaus Mikaelson toward the park that night. His eyes squinted as he spotted a girl in the distance, two large and fluffed ears on her head which twitched very few seconds. His curiosity was peaked and so he approached the source of such sad sounds and crouched before her. His hand slowly touched her knee making her jolt and look up at him alarmed. Immediately smacking the top of her head to make her ears go away making him frown and grab onto her hands
“It’s alright love” he mumbled as she shook her head and tried to squirm out of his hold. He sighed and resorted to picking her up which made her cry again and him to panic. “No no no” he whispered, covering her mouth with his hand and his eyes widening when a tail curled up between her legs and little claws scratched at his arms. “Oh bloody hell” he muttered before speeding her to his home and getting her on the floor just as she turned entirely.
His brows shot up seeing her so small, running around like a lunatic and barking continuously. He blinked in surprise and slowly shut the front door, locking it and walking around the smashed vase and torn painting as she chewed at his brand new sofa cushions with her tail wagging so wildly that her whole body shook.
He made a gradual approach but the second she was in reach, she had darted up the stairs making him sigh and chase her through the house for the next 20 minutes. Having a little too much fun for an almighty hybrid as he tackled a small wolf to his kitchen floor and kept her firmly to his chest until eventually she turned back.
Asleep and completely naked against him. He cautiously lifted her up and brought her to his bed, not wanting her to run off while he slept.
He slipped his boxers up her legs and henley over her head, not without peeking at her lovely little body of course, and quickly stripping to his boxers before tugging the covers over the both and watching her from the other side of the bed. He kept an eye on her for as long as he stayed awake, until the steady beating of her heart sent him to sleep.
When he woke he was entirely on top of her, her big eyes looking up at him as he lifted his head to find her squished beneath him and shoving helplessly at his chest.
He kept quiet and in response so did she, swallowing thickly as she watched him observe her. She didn’t comment as his eyes lingered on her nipples that stood out against the soft material on his top, nor the way his tongue wetted his lips when he studied her legs.
“Do you do that a lot?” He asked just above a whisper when his eyes came back to hers and she nodded with a blush of embarrassment coating her cheeks.
“I don’t mean to” she uttered and he tilted his head ever so slightly
“I wouldn’t have thought you did” he murmured and she kept silent. He thought to himself for a moment before making an unklauslike decision “I think I’ll keep you love” he told her and she opened her mouth to speak but he was already talking again “no arguing, I’ll teach you to control yourself and we’ll see what happens from there okay?”
“But my mother and- and school! I learn at home, I can’t-“
“Do you know who I am love?” He cut her off and she turned her head
“Klaus?” She questioned, having heard of him before when her parents were researching, the mention of him from Tyler and the smell of both vampire and werewolf which twisted together when she lay under him.
“That’s right little wolf, Klaus, now I’ve been alive a very long time, I can teach you much better than any mother could. And besides, your mother would’ve found you before I had if she were worried” he waved it off and she frowned
“She will be…” she whispered and he watched in amazement again as the ears formed at her head. His hand automatically reached out to feel the soft fur against his skin making her lean into him. He could feel the smirk pulling at his face as he calmed her back down
“Oh you’re right love,” he began, seeing her brighten up a little bit in curiosity, “she will puppy, so how about I’ll handle it okay? She’ll let you come here, you want me to help you don’t you?” He manipulated and she immediately fell into it, nodding and laying still under him. Klaus couldn’t help but admire how she looked beneath him, her big round eyes and wolf ears still on display. If emotion was what brought this out in her, he could only imagine how she would howl if he treated her the way he desired.
But he would wait, he needed to get her under control at least a little so that she didn’t destroy his house and hurt herself in the meantime. He didn’t believe she would be able to hurt someone else, especially not purposely but he saw how she basically ran into walls without a care and worried for her own sake.
He snapped out of his thoughts at the whine she produced, confused on his face before he realised his knee was inbetween both her legs and she had almost definitely never been touched like that. One because of her little wolf issue, and two because she clearly had a lack of time outside her home just based off how afraid she was outside and then looking in wonder at simple objects in his home. Not that it was an issue for him, the more unaware she was in general, the better. She would be easier to tame if he could train a fresh mind.
And she was just that, a breathe of fresh air.
Simple and appreciative. No matter how small a thing he did for her, she was smiling brightly with her tail wagging and ears up. Whether it be a new bookmark or a diamond bracelet.
He remembers when he told her she could decorate her own room, he had never seen someone get so excited so fast. The room looked completely out of place, the rest of the mansion was relatively dark and gloomy but her space was bright but soft, calming in a way instead of tense.
He loved how she was like that, calming. Whenever he was having an awful day, there she was in his lap, ears up and a book in her hands that he had ‘assigned’ her to read for her ‘schoolwork’. She seemed to have at least her ears out all the time, especially when he touched her, just a hand on her leg would have her tail wagging and he couldn’t find it in himself to make her stop.
But he found that if he did tell her to put them away, it was the only way she would do so.
He had found her in tears over two star crossed lovers in a book she had gotten from her personal library, a gift from him of course, and watched as she struggled to calm herself down. But the second he used a commanding tone on her to put the canine features away, they were gone and she was whimpering quite literally like a puppy being told off.
He found that he had more control over her wolf than she did. And he loved it, she was his good girl, his little puppy to play with and look after.
She kept his bed warm when he was gone and made his heart swell when he was there.
He loved seeing her so freely running around in her wolf form, finally able to control where she was going and what she was thinking as she chased the birds and and spun around to get his attention. Only issue was when she gained more control, he seemed to lose some. And she was quick to tease him, running circles around him and nipping at his ankles when he was busy, having him chase after her because she had taken his phone or worse: the white oak stake. Of course she didn’t understand the importance but to her it was a game and she wanted him to play too.
He understood her mindset of course and she was completely entertaining for him but it was a pain to have to hunt her down every time he needed her to practice her school work.
He would always remember the first time he turned to chase her down. The surprise in her eyes when she skidded to a halt and looked up at him. He must’ve been nearly 10 times bigger than her and although she should probably have been terrified, she yipped happily and darted for the tree line. He shook his head before following after the flash of grey and brown that weaves through the woods, ultimately pinning her down and bringing her home before claiming his prize for winning the game.
The prizes varied greatly, sometimes he got a kiss on the cheek from her, sometimes he would get to sink his teeth into her sweet skin, sometimes he would just lay with her, y/n on the other hand got very different prizes, on the rare occasion that she won he found himself wearing a face mask and cucumber on his eyes as she giggled and held his hand.
Whatever she did, whether she were human or a little wolf, he kept her happy and hidden from the rest of the world but this time she didn’t feel like a disappointment, she felt adored.

The next morning, Steve rolls out of his bed, having collapsed onto it in his wolf form last night, unwilling to let his human brain take control after that disaster. He throws on the nearest shorts and stomps down the hallway to the last door on the left; swinging it open, he yells, “You owe me ten bucks.”
“Whazit?” Under a pile of blankets, most of them over her face, Robin raises her head blearily, half of her dark-blonde hair raised in spectacular form.
The room is made a dusty pink by the sun shining through the sheer, ruby drapes that lead to the balcony, matching the blush and cream decor in the unimaginatively titled ‘Ruby Room.’
“You. Owe me ten bucks,” Steve grits out through clenched teeth.
Robin sighs, letting her face collapse back onto the soft pillow but Steve doesn’t let her hide in peace. Grumbling, he throws himself on the bed, spreading into a starfish to deliberately sprawl over Robin.
Nothing.
He undulates his body, enough to make the bed reel and jostle at the woman currently pretending to be a roll of blankets.
“Okay, okay, keep your shorts on.” She throws back the pile and peers at his near-naked body, “Please keep your shorts on.”
He snorts in reluctant amusement; despite Robin not being a shifter herself, she had gotten used to his naked body fairly quickly once she knew what he was. A secret exchanged, in turn on a grotty bathroom floor after she’d confessed her sapphic secret to popular boy Steve Harrington as they had swam out of the fugue of Russian truth serums.
Still sprawled out, he tilts only his head, staring down his best friend, “He ran.”
She grimaces, turning over to her side, their faces separated by barely a hand’s width. Her blue eyes are sad and they match the dampened tone of her lavender scent, “I know. I’m sorry.”
“No,” Steve refuses, closing his own eyes, “don’t give me that look.”
He can sense the sympathy of it rolling over him in waves and he can’t let himself truly feel the rejection from Eddie. The very thorough repulsion and fear, from Eddie of all people, is enough to make him doubt his very core.
Eyes still clenched shut, he says as much, “It’s Eddie.”
“I know,” Robin says softly.
“He’s supposed to find these things fun. Weird is good, right?” Tears burn at the back of his lids, but he refuses to shed them.
“Exactly,” Robin gently agrees.
He squeezes tighter. “I am good.”
A hand rests on his cheek, conferring comfort and love, “You are, babe. You’re my very best doggo.” Startled, he chokes out a laugh; it catches at the back of his throat and he turns his entire body, hiding wet eyes into the pillow.
“This sucks,” he mumbles into the downy cradle.
Robin allows him a moment and he gathers back his control, consoling himself that at least he was the only one to take the brunt of Eddie’s disgust.
Yet still sighing at his wayward emotions, knowing that it was the vulnerability of last night that grates so sorely at him. It’s a fragile thing, to stand in front of someone and declare that this is me. A me that he knows is more freaksome than the usual.

Prologue: Short Version
LORE | CHARACTERS | ABOUT / WARNINGS | CHAPTERS
← PREVIOUS | BEGINNING | NEXT →
NOTE: This is a shortened version of all 3 Prologue chapters for those who want to quickly get to the main part of the story. Please be aware that every other chapter of the story is written in 'standard' prose and is not short.
Áine is born to parents Brádach and Saoirse. She is a newly-born witch, and her father is fearful for her future, as he writes in his diary. He actually hopes that she doesn't have magic at all (there's a chance that even a child of two witches won't be born with magic) because he always fears for his own life and his family's. He doesn't want her born into a world that will tear her apart, and instead of actually doing anything to try and change that world, he merely just hopes that Áine won't have any magic.
At about three years old, Áine discovers her first spell and is mesmerised by the light in her palms! Her mother is overjoyed! Her father, not so much. Saoirse wants Áine to embrace her gift instead of hiding it from the world, and Brádach would rather she hide it from the world and not be killed. Saoirse is writing a grimoire for her daughter for when she's older.
Five years later, and Áine is helping her mother out with her herbalism and potion-making. She's confused as to why some people hate witches considering she finds them and herself fascinating. After they go hunting, Áine tells her mother about how her father would rather she stop using her magic.
Saoirse basically tells her, in politer terms, that her father is full of shit. Saoirse knows that people might kill them because of magic, but the problem with not teaching a child their power because you think they'd be better off without it, is that they never learn to control it (something very familiar to another character you'll meet later). She also wants to teach Áine how to defend herself.
Saoirse teaches the children the basics of magic. On the evening, Áine hides behind a tree and witnesses a commotion outside of a jeering crowd and a woman tied to a stake. She can hear the crowd yelling 'witch', see them burning her, and can smell the burning flesh... She's horrified, and she realises she is fortunate to have a home and a family when many other children like her don't have that.
Saoirse is angry that Áine went outside to see it happen, but she apologises. Saoirse also argues with Brádach on the matter. Áine gets angry that they're arguing and accidentally casts an Ignis (Inferniate) spell.
Ten years pass, and Áine is a teenager learning under her mother Saoirse. During practice, she creates such a powerful fire spell - a spell she has learned to tame the thing that people to use to kill people like her- and accidentally manages to burn off her mother's eyebrows.
Saoirse tries to be sure that she has taught Áine all she should know, from casting spells to the birds and the bees (Áine states that she does not need to hear that again!) They go to help out a neighbouring poor village by giving them fish that they catch. The poor families are thankful for them, so in return they lead witchfinders off the scent of them to help protect them.
After years of practicing mental shifting and 'thinking like the wolf', Saoirse finally teaches her how to physically shift. Áine has an amazing time with her mother in wolf form and seeing the world through the eyes of an animal.
When Saoirse and Áine get back home, they find a letter on the table from Brádach saying that he feels bad for his inaction concerning the witch-hunts, and that he is going out to make the world 'a safer place' for them. He, of course, gives half-hearted apologies and tells them not to go looking for him.
Saoirse goes after him, since she doesn't want harm to come to him- and Áine tells her not to, but Saoirse knows that Áine probably wants to go too and would rather that Áine stayed where it was safe.
Three weeks pass, and no sign of either parent's return. Áine looks everywhere around neighbouring villages and places and asks around, and nothing. She has a feeling both were killed as witches were often killed alongside their partners. She tries to live by herself and remember what Saoirse taught her, either until one or both return or until 'the Moon will guide her' from then on.
Years pass, and Áine is twenty years old. She is tired of this lonely life and wants to lead as full a life as she is able to. She feels she's full of useful knowledge to help others and has no chance to actually use it. In the back of Áine grimoire is a map showing her country and the surrounding countries and areas, one of which is Henford-On-Glimmer. It'll be a while on foot, but not impossible.
After a long travel, made shorter by a kind farmer who took her part the way on horseback, she ends up in the small town of Withernham. She notices a large church-like building, and figures it's the best place to go for someone who's in need of some kind of assistance, and for someone who's part of a community that's normally shunned.

Just a really small pack.
@tornsaviors
A Vale and Shiloh mood board.
4 headcanons I have for them.
They are old friends who drifted apart sometime after becoming adults. During a moonlit meetup and reconnecting while others ripped at each other for show.
When they were younger and still learning how to control the wolf. They would spend hours running around the forests. Shiloh felt most free during these times. She enjoyed the winter runs most of all because the snow felt great against her feet. But the forest floor during the summer months gave off the best smells and was the most fun to just lay on.
Shiloh has tried to talk Vale into moving to the small town she lives in. Vale at least visits her, and they have gone on some very long camping trips.
Shiloh has a vast amount of tea in her cupboards that she has shared with Vale when she visits. Vale has most definitely found a few that she enjoys.
3 songs I tie to Vale.
New Blood - Zayde Wolf
Chasing Twisters - Delta Rae
Here Come The Wolves - Lola Blanc
2 plot ideas.
Just spending a night in wolf form and running. The term "do you wish to live deliciously" comes to mind when I think about this idea. Just enjoying their time.
Maybe in teen years, surviving an attack from a much bigger and older werewolf.
1 drabble.
Ever since that night of reconnecting. Shiloh found herself outside the woods a lot more often. It's not like Vale was waiting in there. This was far off from her territory and where she usually ran. This small town offered nothing but the untouched vast amounts of wilderness. The town wasn't too shabby either, but that wasn't enough to draw most people in. Small mountain towns didn't offer much. She stepped on the butt of her cigarette. Eyes just staring at the wilderness, her mind wandering.
"Come on!"
"I am running as fast as my legs can, Vale!"
The two girls' laughter rang through the empty forest. Barefoot and feeling the forest floor below them as they ran. Each step is nearly a leap. Almost taking off; if they had wings instead of fur, they may have just flown from the forest. Everything had a smell, and it was all amplified by the recent rain. Nothing could be focused on in their rush to explore as far as they could before being called back. There was no waiting around; they had to run as far as their legs could get them. The walk back would allow them to take in everything they had missed in their haste.
They came up on the small river, which would lead them directly to the waterfall. Shiloh recalled the few times they had traveled out here to catch tadpoles. With the wolf awakening, would she be coming back here to catch fish instead? That was an exciting thought. Vale still had a good distance in front of her. The run was new, and the ability to go for longer and greater distances opened new experiences. She wanted to discuss it with her friend, but she wasn’t going to get her to slow down.
It wasn’t long before they were standing at the top of the waterfall, algae-covered rocks below their feet, cool water on their ankles, and a good 70-foot drop in front of them. Shiloh peeked over it. “I see why the adults said when you're older.” Mocking her father's voice as she spoke, trying to deepen her tone as much as possible. Vale laughed, peeking over the edge herself. Shiloh could see the want to jump in her friend's eyes. It would be a lie of her to say she didn’t also want to. But both had been warned they could experience the jump when they were older. After their first shift, after their first moonlit event. They still had several years before that. Shiloh went back to looking at their surroundings, moving away from the edge. She kicked up water as she walked. Her toes curled on the rocks, a small shiver with the algae between her toes. Her least favorite feeling in the world was algae between her toes.
Stepping up onto the shore, Shiloh listened to the birdsongs, trying to pick out the unique chirps and tweets and distinguish where they sat in the trees. Smelling everything that traveled on the breeze that came at them. "You know it's going to be an entirely new world for us." Vale was standing beside her now, also looking around.
"Well, let's just make sure to explore it together."

Tim's Menagerie of Chaos: the Bats
Bruce is a so called Chaos Monster. He is made of literal, pure chaos, which makes him the most powerful being there, because his chaos overpower those around him. However, because of this, he has a really hard time keeping a corporeal form and most of the time he's just a vaguely shaped blob of chaos and only when Tim is touching him or when he's near someone made of pure light (Clark and Diana) that he can keep it up for long. His communication also gets lost in the chaos, so most of the time it comms across as grunts.
This makes Damian a hybrid. Bruce's Chaos Monster and Thalia is a demon (so is Ra's), however, Damian's Chaos is much weaker than they expected, but he has much more aptitude for magic than Bruce. If he learned how to use his Chaos to fuel his magic, he would be incredibly powerful, but right now he's too blinded by the fact that his Chaos is weaker than Thalia anticipated at his birth.
Dick is an incubus and he hates it. He hates his powers, his hates the fact that he's constantly hungry and hates the effect that he has on people. He's the only one who genuinely enjoys being around Tim. The highlight of his day is always when he and Tim had their daily cuddle time, because that's the only time he's not hungry and he feels like a person instead of an object. He's also trying to teach Damian how to harness his Chaos for magic, because he's an expert at that, which makes him also incredibly powerful but constantly hungry.
Cass is a phantom. Most of the time, she's perfectly fine in her phantom form and can become physical if she exerts herself, but sometimes she gets touch starved and doesn't feel like using her power for it, then she cuddles up to Tim, because his touch, much like in Bruce's case, forces her into a physical form.
Stephanie is a werewolf, but in a Teen Wolf like way. She can transform at will, but she has a harder time controlling it during full moons. Tim cancels out her shifts, but generally she really likes being a wolf. She thinks the extra strength and speed is fun and it makes parkour much more fun.
Duke is an anomaly for the Justice League because even though his power is Light based, he harnesses Chaos to use it. Nobody really understands it, but he doesn't really care as long as he can use them reliably.
Barbara is actually human and yet is the most powerful of them all.
Alfred is a vampire.

Danganronpa V3 Werewolf AU: The Unknowing
So I came up with a Danganronpa werewolf AU idea where all the students at Hope's Peak are werewolves, but nobody knows that everyone else is a werewolf. Basically Monokuma makes a motive saying one person is a werewolf, and the first person to find out who it is will get a free murder with no trial. Of course this is a trick motive since ALL OF THEM are werewolves.
Shuichi trusts Kaede, confesses he's a werewolf, but Kaede thinks he might be lying since she's a werewolf too. They realize the motive must be a faks or something, bit are still nervous to inform the others.
Of course at some point, everyone finds out they're all werewolves and the motive was just to break people's trust in others.
So here is everyone and how they were infected, split between WolfBorn (Born as a werewolf) and WolfTurned (Infected/Turned into a werewolf after birth)
Kaede Akamatsu- WolfTurned: Kaede has a pretty average werewolf story, being bitten and turned into a werewolf when she was in her early teen years. Nothing much to share compared to her talent, other than she has decent control, and can speak a little bit while a wolf. She is a quadropedal werewolf, meaning she walks on all fours as a wolf.
Shuichi Saihara- WolfBorn: Shuichi was born a werewolf, getting the gene from his uncle's side, and being able to use his keen senses and wolf instincts to help with his detective work. His uncle assisted in helping him with his wolf instincts and all that jazz while growing up since he was a werewolf too, and Shuichi has really good control over his wolf form overall, being able to speak and communicate well while a wolf. Shuichi is a polypedal werewolf, meaning he walks on his hindlegs and all fours as a wolf.
Rantaro Amami- WolfBorn: Rantaro was born as a werewolf alongside his sisters. Being the oldest, he always found it as his duty to help his sisters with being werewolves while they were growing up, and helped them through tough transformations and just did what he could to make him feel better. He's worried his sisters could be hunted while missing around the world, so he's doing whatever he can to reunite with them all as soon as possible. Rantaro has an equal amount of control like Shuichi does, but cant speak much while a wolf and is only able to let out growls and barks. Rantaro is a quadropedal werewolf.
Ryoma Hoshi- WolfTurned: During his fight with the mafia, Ryoma was attacked by one of the mafia werewolves who bit him on the shoulder, but Ryoma didnt know that it was a werewolf, and thought the mafia just had really big guard dogs. One night in prison, he transformed out of the blue, and had to be transferred to a werewolf prison. Since he had been bitten by the mafia werewolf, he now has a permanent fur pattern that represents the mafia's logo, which is permanently in his fur forever as a constant reminder of what he did. Ryoma had decent control, and can talk, but just prefers not to. Ryoma is a PolyPedal werewolf.
Kirumi Tojo- WolfBorn: Kirumi was born as a werewolf in her family, and made it her duty to assist humans and werewolves in need, no matter the cost. She looked after the young werewolf pups of the families she worked for a lot while they were out turning, but still did her maid duties during the day whilst a human. Her control is one of the best of the group, Kirumi practically acting like she isnt a werewolf at all in wolf form. Kirumi is, obviously, a bipedal werewolf, meaning she only walks on her hind legs while a wolf.
Tenko Chabashira- WolfBorn: Tenko was born as a werewolf, and was always aggressive in wolf and human form as a child. When she was sent to train with her master, she learned to teach herself disciplinary control with the help of her master. She would always scare away the bad people with her wolf half, using it to her advantage. Tenko has decent control of her werewolf form, but can loose control easily when she gets pissed off by someone (that someone will most likely be a boy...) Tenko is a PolyPedal werewolf, leaning more toward the Bipedal side more than anything
Angie Yonaga- WolfBorn: Angie's island was full of werewolves, everyone there being a werewolf in some way, so it made sense for her to also be born a werewolf as well. She grew up with werewolf traditions, and still uses them at the academy. Angie has good control of her wolf form, and howls more than she talks. Whenever she does talk, it's usually to convince people to join her werewolf rituals, which are blood sacrifices in disguise! Angie is a PolyPedal werewolf, leaning more toward the quadropedal side.
Korekiyo Shinguji- WolfTurned: Korekiyo was infected by his sister "accidentally" at a young age after she was bitten by a werewolf a few years earlier. He still studied anthropology however, still feeling a strong connection to his human half despite being a werewolf. He is fascinated by his werewolf form though, and doesnt hate it the slightest. Korekiyo has a great grip on control, and like Kirumi, treats his body more like a human one than a wolf one. Korekiyo is a bipedal werewolf
Miu Iruma- WolfTurned: Miu was cocky with one of her inventions and tested it on herself, causing her to turn into a werewolf. Womp womp moment. She hated it at first, but now adores her beautiful wolf form, bragging about how good she looks every chance she gets, especially to Kaede since her chest fur is thicker than hers. Miu has a decent grip on control, getting easily annoyed with her wolf instincts and body when trying to invent something are her claws get in the way. Miu is a polypedal werewolf and switches between the two when necessary
Gonta Gokuhara- WolfTurned: This one is pretty self explanatory since Gonta grew up around wolves. One night him and his wolf family got into a fight with a werewolf, and Gonta was bitten by it. He felt more apart of the family since then, but tries to contain his wolf self to make his human family proud. Gonta usually just acts like a big puppy in wolf form, but can't speak while a wolf alike to Rantaro. Gonta is a quadropedal werewolf.
Kokichi Ouma- WolfBorn: Kokichi pretends that he's a WolfTurned, changing the story of how he was infected every time someone asks him. The reason he does this is because WolfBorns all have birthmarks resembling something werewolf related, and Kokichi's birthmark happens to look like a werewolf infection scar. Kokichi was actually born a werewolf and taught himself to gain control with no help. All the members of DICE are also werewolves too, and he considers them like his pack. Another thing Kokichi will lie about is saying he's a werefox, despite being a werewolf. Kokichi pretends he has a terrible grip on control, purposefully acting aggressive but never really hurting anyone. In reality, his control level is up there with Kirumi's level, but he doesnt want anyone else to know that!~ Kokichi is a PolyPedal wolf, usually walking on all fours when pretending to be feral, and walking on hind legs when he isn't pretending or he's just bored of the feral act.
Kaito Momota- WolfBorn: Kaito was born a werewolf from a long line of generations, and he never really liked his werewolf heritage in any way, believing he was a monster in some way. Despite this, Kaito would always find a way to help encourage new werewolves, and teach them proper control, even teaching them good werewolf exercises. Kaito has good control in wolf form, and can speak fluently. Kaito is a bipedal werewolf and refuses to walk on all fours unless he has to.
Tsumugi Shirogane- WolfBorn: Tsumugi thinks her story isnt that special. She was born a werewolf and grew up as a werewolf around humans, living through basically an average Teen-Wolf plot. The only thing special about her is a rare werewolf birth defect, giving her eight tails as a wolf rather than just one. (Eight because Danganronpa V3...five plus three is eight). She even gained the ability to make outfits for those who still want to wear clothes as a werewolf! Tsumugi is practically an "average" werewolf with average control, and can somewhat speak in wolf form. Tsumugi is a polypedal werewolf.
K1B0- WolfTurned: Probably my favorite one of the bunch, Kiibo was turned into a robotic werewolf by some malware that somehow made its way into his program. Professor Idabashi never being able to figure out a way to get rid of said malware, changing into a robotic werewolf under the full moon was now a normal occurrence for Kiibo. He's still adjusting to both human and werewolf culture, coming to Miu every full moon due to the painful transformations he has to endure. The entire time Miu was alive during thw killing game, they would always transform together, and even after Miu's death, he still went to her Ultimate Lab to find comfort during his shifts. Kiibo is still adjusting, and has somewhat decent control over his wolf half. When he doesnt havd control, he usually just growls and warns people to stay away, but is overall friendly when not feral, and has the ability to speak normally. Kiibo is a polypedal werewolf, and often loses balance in wolf form.
Himiko Yumeno- WolfTurned: Himiko was caught in a violent werewolf attack when she was in her early teen years, but prefers to say she was infected by an evil mage. She doesnt like to talk about her infection story, and does what she can to change the subject when asked about it. When in wolf form, Himiko usually just sleeps most of the time, and when she isnt sleeping, she's usually just laying somewhere while practicing magic. Himiko hates her transformations, and like Kiibo, usually transforms with someone. Sometimes Angie or Tenko, but after they died, she did it with whoever she could find as long as they were okay with it. Himiko has a good grip on control, and can speak, but doesnt really want to (opposed to Ryoma just wanting to keep to himself, Himiko is just to exhausted to speak). Himiko is a quadropedal werewolf.
Maki Harukawa- WolfTurned: One of Maki's targets was a werewolf, and unfortunately for her, it fought back and turned her. She is what is called a newly-turned, having a fresh infection wound and still adapting to being a werewolf. Even though she wont admit it, she appreciates Kaito's willingness to assist her in her werewolf journey, despite always shrugging him off and saying she can handle herself. Thanks to her pain tolerance, Maki can handle the transformation pain...or at least make it look like she can. Maki has great control, especially for being a newly-turned. She spends her nights running around to get some exercise in, and is basically a 'lone wolf', but will sometimes hang out with Shuichi and Kaito to do some small group howls. Maki is a quadropedal werewolf, and is adapting to walk on her hind legs, since she thinks walking on all fours makes her look ridiculous
And there it is! All of the werewolves of V3! If anyone has any questions, my ask box is always open! I might also draw them at some point, but no promises!

@mayfay I just created a new post just to make this a little easier
That "protect the pack" mode would kind of be like the Avatar state where Katara just becomes incredibly powerful and dangerous when her friends are in danger and gets a sort of adrenaline rush. Which, like you said, has some potential especially when Katara start looking at herself beyond the last wolf of the south pole and starts to have feelings for Azula in Ba Sing Se.
When Katara grows up as the sole wolf in the South Pole, she gets an isolated version of what a waterbender/wolf should be and assumes that she is exactly what a waterbender and wolf should be. She's as powerful as a wolf should be, as big as a wolf should be, as fast, as strong, etc, etc. When she goes into the Earth Kingdom, she doesn't expect the wolves to be the same as her. She doesn't love that they try to capture her or call her a monster, but she also doesn't really think much of it. Then she gets to the North Pole where she's still the odd one out. The largest wolf form there is 3 feet tall and she's much bigger than that. Everything in the North Pole is built for smaller wolves and Katara is completely removed from that. Sokka and Aang know she's feeling horrible but there isn't much they can do. On the plus side, when Zuko tries to put restraints on her, it's all too easy for her to stand up and brush them off or snap them in her jaw.
Zuko, looking at the broken chains on the ground: Oh, shi-
The mental image of the North Pole giving them the same house because they assume Katara has a handle on her wolf form only for her to almost bring the whole house down because she absolutely cannot fit in there. Poor Katara just wants somewhere to sleep but the North Pole has nothing for giant wolves. I feel like the necklace would change sizes with her. She has no idea why but it always changes with her and adjusts perfectly to her size. So when Pakku sees her in her wolf form, he's able to easily make out the blue necklace around her neck only now he can't take it and hold it because if he tries to grab it, Katara will bite his arm off. I feel like Pakku would ignore her because she assumes all her power is in her wolf form so he isn't prepared to fight her when they have a waterbending battle or something (which happens the very first time he refuses to teach her).
I can get what you're saying about her both choosing not to suppress her wolf form but also just not having the time (and being so much bigger than every other wolf makes it so much harder for her). I think a good middle of the road approach is Katara learning how to suppress her wolf form to the degree that she can spend the night almost as a human except she has a wolf tail, ears, claws, muzzle and strength because she didn't have to time or want to learn how to completely suppress her wolf side. At nights, she usually just goes as a full wolf if they aren't being chased but when they need to get on Appa it's a good trick that she can suddenly make herself as small as her human form is. (Azula 100% finds Katara's wolf ears adorable. Whenever she touches them, they flick and move and Azula finds it so cute).
------------------------ (Season 2)
Yeah, I think the first part would be pretty close to the show where they don't get very far but are trying to get through some character development moments. Sokka is still being a leader and Aang is coming into his role as the Avatar while Katara is trying to strengthen her bending (because I also imagine she felt kind of weak when Tui took control of her and felt like her wolf form was strong but also out of her control so she wants to learn waterbending which feels more in her control, especially since she really wants to learn that and becoming a better southern waterbender)
Of course the major season 1 upset that'll get things changing is the inclusion of Toph and appearance of Azula. Toph quite literally came in a vision, is a level of magnitude stronger than even Katara at this point, and comes in right when everyone's trying to figure out dynamics and purposes. Needless to say it shakes things up. On top of that Azulas first encounter with the Gaang happens right after, taking the place of Zuko and cranking the danger up to 11 (even if she's not as good at tracking them as he is).
👆👆👆
The Chase is the best chance for everything to go from the frying pan into the fryer. Sokka and Katara are strong enough to, at least, be on Azula's level, especially with Katara's wolf form. She's been trying to keep in under wraps at night for safety so she can easily get on Appa but it's a lot harder for her to do that when she is exhausted and fighting with everyone. (Despite Toph's strength, Katara has to constantly remind herself not to attack her as she could do real damage to a twelve year old as a ten foot tall wolf). Aang is trying to help her but also keep everyone safe and Toph is struggling with her first time on a team. Meanwhile, Azula, Mai and Ty Lee are shocked to see a waterbender with wolf characteristics because they were taught that waterbenders were either human or wolves. Azula isn't that shocked or scared because she still thinks Katara is a small wolf. When they fight in the little town, Azula gets to finally see Katara as a full wolf and she is shocked. She expected a small wolf, a regular wolf that she would see in the EK not one that, with a wack of her paw, could send her flying into one of the buildings. She flees but is injured because of Katara's attack and I feel like, after that, Azula isn't going to try and stick around to see what this giant predator is going to do. (I do really want Katara and Azula to talk more but I also think Katara views Azula as a pure enemy and wants to get rid of her). (But also I need Azutara 😢).
I do think Katara would stay because her healer and waterbender moment is overpowering her need to chase down Azula. It's a big shift for her to act instead on her waterbending side and not wolf side.
------------------(season 2 part 2)
I agree with you on Toph and Katara being pretty similar to their canon versions here. They’d still have moments where they just flat out don’t get along but that also is now coming from Katara seeing Toph as the most powerful bender on the team (minus Aang) who can bender 24/7 unlike her and isn’t stopped by a wolf form which would just further her feelings on her wolf self not always being what’s best for the situation. In the desert, Katara probably not only becomes the one keeping the group together, as we saw in the show, but the main method of transportation since Appa is gone. (Although she and Toph can rant about the sand. Toph can’t see in it and for Katara it gets all in her fur). Wolves are hunters but they are not suited for long runs, they’re endurance hunters, so Katara won’t be able to make a lot of progress especially with carrying three people. And her fur is meant for the cold weather of the South Pole not the desert (so….highly overheated and making water supply a big problem especially when their main waterbender is a wolf almost all night because she’s exhausted from walking in the desert all day). Katara helps them make up some distance for half the night and then she practically face plants into the sand and sleeps out of pure exhaustion the rest of the night. Actually, fun fact, in the world of ATLA the desert has sand sharks which are giant predators so…..Katara’s getting some sea eat food.
There’s such a good moment where to show Katara, as a wolf, struggling to take steps. She just keeps forcing herself to keep moving but every step is a battle. Sokka is the first one to notice this and notice that she’s struggling to stay conscience but he can’t stop her from walking. Aang helps get Toph and Sokka off of her but she still refuses to stop walking, believing that she has to keep going and has to keep moving. Finally, Aang and Sokka literally trip her up and she turns back as she falling to the ground. At this point it’s much easier for Sokka to stop her from walking and get her to finally fall asleep. She’s hungry, thirsty, tired and mentally exhausted from having to keep everyone together. Being out in the desert is a test for everyone, but that really is the moment when the three see how much Katara is struggling. Aang is still upset over Appa, of course, but he also doesn’t want Katara to literally collapse because she’s trying to do everything.
Sokka, honestly, would probably have a similar time as he does in canon. He’s clinging to trying to keep the group moving and keep them alive and struggling the entire time. The desert really would be when that’s highlighted and you can finally see both how much Katara does for the group and how they really don’t know what they’re doing without Sokka there to help them. They’re struggling to just keep moving by the end of the desert arc and make it out alive. No one ever speaks about the sunburns, loss of weight, almost collapses into the sand, etc that happened there.
Moving on to Zuko and man is yet again bound to canon. That being said I do see him with a bit more angst than expected (though that's pretty much the bread and butter of the changes these kids are getting so far). I mean on top of the canon issues hes been very thoroughly bested by a single novice water bender, Sokka showed how he can't lead for crap in comparison, Azula reminded him of his position in the FN and is doing about as well as he'd expect, hell even Zhao managed to come up with a plan and execute it, a pretty dumb plan that left him as dog chow but credit where credit is due the man did kill the moon and breach the northern walls. This is all of course a pretty bad comparison but it's Zuko, gods favorite chew toy who has literally never seen anything normal in his life before and would have an allergic reaction if he did. Most of his time is gonna be like canon and getting a taste of the world, though he's unlikely to actually notice how different normality is maybe he'll get some small seed planted deep in his mind. Probably not but you can't say Iroh didn't try. Speaking of, Iroh is probably gonna be a bit worse for wear here. See, even if Katara didn't go after Azula and immediately healed him, she's a pretty novice water bender so her healing's kinda garbage right now. It'll do the work, girl is literally gifted by the moon and might've been able to brute force it if healing was as uncomplicated as canon made it out to be (I refuse to believe a 6 year old with some healing water could fully fix a fried heart, no matter how magical it is. So I'm taking the liberty of poking atla's magic system with a stick and nerfing healing to require some degree of skill). Point is he might have survived and maybe even redirected some of it, but you can't give the heart some electricity and amateur healing and expect him to come out looking like he's 20. That's right, Iroh gets the heart problems he should've had from Zuko. Probably mostly translates to being weaker in a fight (not a big deal for him really) and not being able to push himself as hard as he used to (a slightly bigger deal when traveling on the road with no supplies). Also some extra Zuko angst over Iroh not only getting hurt by Azula and nearly dieing, but seeing the lasting consequences of it. Also likely slows down their travel time a bit but what else is new in this.
👆👆👆
(That being said, I do think that there’s also room for some humor with Zuko too because everyone assumes he stopped chasing Aang because of Azula or he was scared of Aang’s strength but that’s not the reason. The reason is because Team Avatar has a giant wolf on their team who literally bit through the restraints he brought. He’s not that stupid.)
I love the idea of Azula having a crush on Katara. Girl sees a pretty girl and is just like 😍 and then said pretty girl becomes a giant wolf capable to biting her in half without much effort and Azula’s like 😍😍😍🤩🤩🤩. I do think you could have some fun with Azula having a crush on Katara at the drill because the drill takes place during the day (so no wolf) and Azula and Katara could have a fight scene inside the drill. It’s just a bunch of witty banter back and forth but Azula finds herself wishing the fight would never end (Katara is also finding this Fire Nation girl kinda cute and wants to know more but forces herself to focus on the fight). The reason the fight does end is because Aang stops the drill and Katara flees when he does. Doesn’t stop her from winking in a smug way to Azula and Azula blushing or Katara blushing when she realized that she winked at the enemy.
———————————Season 2 Ba Sing Se
Toph 100% would completely renovate their house in Ba Sing Se so that Katara can fit when she’s a wolf. And it’s not like Joo Dee can say anything cause the other option is a giant wolf sleeping outside the house and freaking everyone else out. (Toph: It’s some renovations or facing the Karens of the city. Joo Dee: Have fun building).
Sokka also spends some time planning for the invasion as well. This is the perfect time for Sokka to feel like he is contributing to the team in terms of strategy and not just keeping them alive by making sure these incredibly powerful children don’t piss off a group of firebenders or forget to eat or something. Oh! I love this idea of Sokka learning from a Pai Sho game and getting the White Lotus’s attention. The White Lotus does have people everywhere so it makes sense that they would have someone in Ba Sing Se to monitor the last city safe from Fire Nation rule.
I kinda love the idea that Katara actually can’t transform into a wolf for the first few weeks in the city because she used it so much in the desert, so not only is she mandated by the Gaang to sleep but now she doesn’t have a wolf form for a while to keep herself busy at night. It’s not by choice but Katara does finally get some rest. And her going along with Toph and Aang on various missions is just her finally getting to spend some time as something other than the group’s primary protector. Katara is able to keep up with Aang easier with just her waterbending but she does still feel vulnerable without her full wolf form to back her up. She and Aang learn how to get through the city and avoid the Dai Li while she and Toph become closer and closer. Katara takes time to rest with Toph and Toph helps Katara by basically telling her that being a wolf is awesome but bending is also great and she can help the team all the same even without her wolf self. (She and Toph can still help stop crime and commit crime together though).
Toph spend most of her time with Katara, as mentioned above, but learning goes both ways. While she might be the best Earthbender in the world, Azula and the desert was a bit of a wake up call. Strong does not equal invincible, and if any one of them hadn't cooperated it would've ended up a lot worse than their battle with Azula (which looking back she might be able to see ways they could've properly cornered Azula and taken her hostage, had everyone worked together). So she's taking an effort to, uhg, be more "cooperative" and whatnot and keep Katara company. And from there she can see how despite being weaker, Katara has her own strengths and fun moments. I mean she even joins along in having some fun in the city, even if it's directed more towards blowing up labor mills and releasing animals than anything else. All in all a very good chance to start recognizing peoples differences, which will help with teaching Aang and figuring out why people are acting they way they are.
👆👆👆
Aang meanwhile gets his fair share of issues, namely the Appa search going nowhere fast. Hes tried everything he can think of, reached out to everyone possible, even tried using his position as the avatar to get something done, and yet nothing has happened. It's still posters being torn down in the night, fake smiles, and everyone acting like things are going great when Appa is gone. Tis a rough time for the boy, and without Sokka and Katara leading the way he's gotta do stuff independently this time around. It goes poorly. Very poorly. Break into houses, release a zoo, and wind up in jail poorly. At this point the guards hear it's another one of the Gaang and just pull out the keys, enter Long Feng. See hes heard about Aangs plight and he knows just how hard it can be to get anything done due to bureaucracy. But he's one of the Dai Lee, keepers of culture created by Kyoshi and as such loyal to the avatar and all they represent. So hes taken it upon himself to work behind the scenes to try and help (he could possibly bring it up to the Gaang, Joo Dee might report back to someone he stepped out of line). And what do you know, hes found Appa! Hes starved and half mad at this point though and only the avatar can possible calm him down enough for them to get him out. See it turns out Appa has cornered himself over by the lake (poor thing probably got loose and ran wild till it crashed) and while they have a tunnel there they can't restrain him without risking Appa hurting himself, so they need Aang to come along. Naturally there's no time to gather everyone up, Appa's scared and hurt and hungry and they didn't care enough to look every hour of every day like hes been trying to do (Sokka is so tired man, at this point they're safe in the city, just let the kid roam free till they get their audience with the king). And so Aang goes with the strange man into the tunnels without telling anyone.
I thought you were going to make Long Feng a good guy for a second 😂, but yeah he would trick Aang into going down into the tunnels.
If Iroh is still struggling with his health then I can see Zuko taking on the role of being the main tea maker. He feels a responsibility to help his uncle and provide for him while they’re in the city since Iroh can’t be on his feet as much. For now, he’s focused on Iroh and making sure they have the money to survive in the city. His days of trying to capture Aang or Katara have passed, especially since he assumes that he’ll never see them again. I LOVE the idea that the Gaang knows Zuko is in the upper ring and he’s the first person they suspect of kidnapping Aang (because…..of course he’s the obvious suspect). Katara is most likely seconds away from ripping out his throat if he doesn’t cooperate with them but Toph is able to tell if Zuko is lying and saves him just because Katara can make good on her threats.
Of course, Zuko wants to capture Aang again but he also knows in a little something called “the enemy of my enemy is my friend”. Aang is the only thing standing between him and his father’s wrath and he would rather take his chances with the Avatar, so he agrees to help them. Everyone meets up and tries to decide what they can do to find Aang, they do suspect the Dai Li (since Zuko is cleared as a suspect after a long, long interrogation process) but the problem is that they don’t know where he is. Thankfully, Zuko heard the Dai Li say something about a lake when they took Jet away. It’s as good a place as any to start looking.
They start looking through the tunnels to try and find Aang or Appa when they’re ambushed by the Dai Li. As we saw in the show, the Gaang can take on the Dai Li but the numbers are not in their favor and Iroh is weakened. They get captured and Long Feng tries to start his monologue but he, nor the rest of the group, realize that Katara’s wolf form came back. (Fangs to the throat is a horrible way to die). Toph breaks everyone free while the Dai Li are distracted and they flee, but not before finding Aang and Appa and getting them out. There’s a sweet little reunion on the beach where Iroh tells Aang that he needs to go and talk to the Earth King about what happened. Aang agrees with him and the group runs/flies off towards the palace. When they arrive it's similar to canon where they talk to him and prove that Lake Laogai exists which results in Long Feng being thrown in prison. The only difference is that now, when Katara is trying to head back home, she picks up on something and finds Azula, who then captures her. The last wolf of the South Pole is bound to be a worthy catch to send back to her father but she also knows that she can't exactly move a giant wolf out of the city without someone seeing her. Thus, a deal is made between Azula and Katara. After Long Feng's kidnapping, Aang is going to be anything but an easy target but that doesn't mean she can't get some damage in. Katara, desperate to keep Aang safe, agrees to go with Azula and back to the Fire Nation. (Azula knows she can't take down Ba Sing Se with just her, Mai and Ty Lee, even an assassination wouldn't guarantee her victory in the city, so she's decided to take down who she views as the most powerful person on Team Avatar and weak the team so that she can attack later). Everyone is celebrating and having fun while Katara has just been taken prisoner by Azula and is being transported out of Ba Sing Se.
I do think Azula needs a bit more attention maybe some behind the scenes stuff because of now it’s not very Azutara-y. Though I do agree with you that they don’t have many scenes together so I think so every time they encounter one another they need to have an interaction of some kind to build a connection.
#you have no idea how tempted I was to throw canon to the road to write early Wolf Azutara#where Azula goes with Katara after The Chase as a “prisoner” (she's just going along for reconnaissance. Yeah that's it)#(not cause feelings no)#(that'd be stupid and dumb and she'd obviously never stoop so low over a not a crush)#Honestly might still do it as a separate reblog chain at some point - How dare you leave this in the notes?!?!
No, but imagine Katara attacks Azula because she’s the enemy, of course she would attack her, and bites Azula’s leg (no this is not becoming a werewolf thing). Azula tries to run but her leg is heavily damaged and she can’t get far and Mai and Ty Lee aren’t around to help. She can try to firebend but her bending is considerably worse since she can’t properly stand up. Zuko and Iroh are a bit busy at the moment (Iroh is trying not to die and Zuko is mourning) so the Gaang decide to “take her hostage” (Read as: don’t leave her to bleed out in an abandoned town). Not only does this allow for a lot of cute Azutara moments but the opportunity is there to explore Azula’s connection with her bending and how she feels about it now compared to Katara and Toph who are also prodigy benders. (Sokka makes her a walking stick because she needs some kind of helper to walk).

tell me about the werewolf au
Oh anon I am SO glad you asked. I was already thinking of just dumping some info about this AU in a post but it is lovely to know there is an audience of more than just me and my spouse 😌💗
So some backstory: Rolo and I are constantly exploring AUs for our OCs, and we pull inspiration from all kinds of places. A little over two years ago, we stumbled upon a tumblr post about werewolves and love and it activated our brains at lightning speed. From this, Werewolf!Emily was born.
I love this AU so much. I wanted to write the whole story in November 2022 and managed to write 13k words, but sadly as usually happens with large projects, I was unable to keep my focus until the end. It comes back to rotate in my brain every once in a while though, and I was able to add some words this year, so who knows! Maybe in 10 years the story is fully written lol.
Oh also the Spotify playlist might be my favorite of all time. I curated the vibe perfectly if I may say so myself 😌
As for the story - Beca's had a crush on Emily for who knows how long. Their brothers are good friends and they see each other fairly regularly. One night, Beca is attacked by a wolf, and while its towering over her ready to bite, Beca sees that it has Emily's eyes and she says her name. The wolf calms down, responds to every word Beca says, and she has no doubt that it truly is Emily, how crazy that might sound. The next morning Emily explains that her ex cursed her to be a werewolf and that she can never control herself when in wolf form. Over the next months they try to find out why Beca saying her name calmed her down and eventually they find out it's because of love babey!!! Beca loves her and all her quirks and it grounds her and reminds her of her humanity!! And Emily loves Beca too!! And they live happily ever after!!
Obviously there's a lot more twists and turns that I won't go into because this post is already getting too long dfhjf but I will say this:
this AU, with Emily's struggle with her wolf form; learning to love the monster inside of her, has actually helped me on my healing path too and I am so, so grateful. There's a reason this AU has stuck with me for over two years. I'm making art for it too so this is definitely not the last thing you'll be seeing of the werewolf au 😊
#werewolf au#answered#anonymous#emily pricefield#beca desjardins#I wrote the story in Dutch so far but I was considering translating some bits to English to indulge my lovely mutuals#don't know when that will happen though

For BEST GIRL: desire, future, ghost, hate, mask, nightmare, secret, skin, torture. 8)
FINALLY getting around to finishing this batch of asks from this very fun set of questions! And AS YOU KNOW the best girl has been through SOME THINGS. A LOT of things. >.>
desire: What’s one thing your OC wants more than anything in the world? Are they open with that desire? Why or why not? What would they do to fulfill it?
In a word: freedom. Ahuska is so so tired of having to hide, of being hunted, of being a danger to innocent people. She wants the freedom to live, and love, open and carefree and unburdened. She wants the control phrase conditioning out of her head. She wants to undo whatever it is that makes her tear Force Sensitives limb from limb. She wants to exist, openly, with rights, without a bounty on her wolf's pelt. She wants to stop hearing 'we can't, you can't, it's not safe for you'. And she is completely open with this, her driving force in life for some time now, and she will do almost anything to fulfil this desire. She might even fully embrace learning to use the Force, now that someone's put the idea into her head that it might be the one way she'll have to earn an unchallenged place in the galaxy.
future: What’s the worst possible future for your OC? Are they taking steps to avoid that outcome? Are they even aware it’s a possibility?
Probably to wind up back in a cage, broken and under external control, used as a tool to destroy everyone she loves. She's acutely aware of how real a possibility this is and is incredibly driven to avoid this outcome. (Five has no idea how lucky he is that some very good people are quite fond of him, or Ahuska might not have been able to resist the temptation to hunt him down and remove him from the equation, which would substantially reduce the risk of anyone using her control phrase against her.)
ghost: Who or what haunts your OC? What happened? How do they live with their ghosts?
The people she's killed, for sure, especially as more and more memories of her early werewolfy days as an Imperial tool become open to her. These ghosts, she lives with by reminding herself that she had no choice, she had no ability to consciously stop herself, and of course by doing everything she can to avoid winding up in that situation again. The nights she's slipped up despite finally knowing what she's capable are much harder for her to deal with.
She's also definitely haunted by the knowledge that her monstrous form was one of Blakk's nightmares, and possibly still is. She still hasn't found a way to properly deal with this yet, and might not until they can finally have an actual conversation again.
hate: What does your OC hate? Why? How do they act towards the object of their hatred?
Before she became close to Thirteen, it was very very easy to hate Five in a very pure and righteous way. For what he did to her, for the way he treated Blakk, for his casual cruelties and despicable, high-born Imperial attitudes. She still does not understand at all how anybody could ever be fond of such a person, but she's not actively targeting him for a future murder any more which is a pretty big deal.
mask: Does your OC wear a mask, literally or figuratively? What goes on beneath it? Is there anyone in their life who gets to see who they are under the mask?
Ahuska wears a lot of masks, largely as a matter of self preservation. A very common one is the 'I'm fine' mask that she's learned to wear around little stuck-as-a-fox Blakk, because it breaks her heart to see him feeling any sort of guilt about their situation. I think she and Thirteen are currently sharing a mask that's telling the world 'we're brilliant, actually, very put-together and also extremely sexy and talented', which is quite actively preventing them both from experiencing their own private catastrophic depressed meltdowns. It's a super healthy coping strategy that won't at all end in heartbreak. And of course, in her day to day, out in public life, there's the mask she wears to give the impression that she's a simple, unremarkable, absolutely-not-a-werewolf-or-fugitive little Bothan, just going about her day with no troubles or lofty aspirations. It's tiring, though, and being a hermit is far far easier.
The fact that she's currently quite intimately bonded to Thirteen means that he's actually the most likely to glimpse who she really is under all the masks; how broken and frightened she is. He's definitely been the only person so far to demonstrate a real understanding of who she is and what she wants in life, and the wild but intensely caring duality of her nature.
The Jedi on Tython who have been helping her are also committed to peeling back the protective layers she's built around herself and helping her discover and come to terms with the pieces she denies and ignores; they have seen more of her than most.
nightmare: What does your OC have nightmares about? How do they deal with their nightmares? Do they tell people, or keep it to themself?
Ahuska has nightmares about being caged. About suffocating walls closing in on her, about heavy chains wearing her down, about heavy boots resting on top of her head. She has nightmares about a seductive hand brushing along the length of her leg, luring her into the cell from which there's no escape. She keeps these nightmares very much to herself, and doesn't know what else to do but try and push them from her mind, bite back the tears, and desperately hope they won't return when she closes her eyes again.
secret: What’s one secret your OC never wants anyone to know about them?
I don't think she ever wants to let on just how tempted she is by the idea of just running away with Thirteen and never facing reality again. It's a fantasy, and she knows it, but gods if he were to actually suggest the idea out loud, she's not sure she could resist.
skin: How comfortable is your OC in their skin? Do they grapple with anything that lives inside them—a beast, a curse, a failure, a monster? How do they face the smallest, weakest, most horrible version of themself? Are they able to acknowledge it at all?
Ahuska has gone through the full range of emotions, from absolute loathing to complete adoration of her inner wolf. Ultimately she loves her wild self and lives for the day she can exist freely and openly in whatever shape she feels like wearing in the moment.
Knowing that the Force is something she's privy to and has the capacity to wield has taken a lot longer to come to terms with; after a long period of denial and disgust with herself, absolute anxiety and mistrust of learning, she finally reached a stage of cautious acceptance that was workable... and now, finds herself on the verge of embracing it in full.
The weakest and most miserable version of herself? When she was completely broken, had lost all faith in herself, and handed over complete control of her thoughts and actions to the worst person she'd ever met? Oh, it kills her to know that she can be brought so low, and to acknowledge it is to bring herself to tears. To shivering, shaking, ugly crying. She hasn't yet found a way to properly reconcile this part of her.
torture: Has your OC ever been tortured? Would your OC ever torture someone else?
Oh, yes. She was subject to some very nasty treatment at Five's hands. Frequent pain, starvation, denial of basic needs, basic comforts, any form of privacy or dignity... and, having suffered so, she has absolutely no desire to inflict the same on any other being. She is, deep down, committed to the idea of being a force for good in the galaxy- and not wanting to be anything like Five is a pretty solid motivation to steer her in that direction, as well.
#character asks#ask meme#not so nice asks#ahuska asks#ty!!!#for all of these!!!#why do we make them suffer so >.>#best girl#side note on the torture though#I'm pretty sure 13 has described some of their recent escapades#as torture#*eyebrow waggle*#very different things going on there though hahahaha

Next to Normal/Scream/Five Nights at Freddy's AU
Believe me, I know how it sounds.
In my defense, all of these little shitheads have been ping-ponging around in my head for a hot second now, and I absolutely adore WILDLY out of character AUs where everything is awful but also actually okay? It'll make sense, I swear. Bear with me.
Little disclaimer: this is not canon to ANYTHING. This is so incredibly self-indulgent that I can't believe I'm even posting anything about it, but whatever. If this isn't your kind of thing, maybe goodbye? If this IS something you'd find vaguely amusing, read on.
Heads up for spoilers? Maybe? Especially in the Next to Normal segment, which is right in the beginning and goes until the line of red text.
Gabriel Goodman from Next to Normal.
First of all, I'll be using the West End version of Gabe, played by Jack Wolfe. That's the version I was (visually) introduced to, and the version I always picture.
Cool beans. So, in this AU (which I'm going to have to find a name for eventually), Gabe DID get sick at eight months old (like I said, West End), but the doctors caught it barely in time. Instead of dying, Gabe was treated for the intestinal obstruction and sepsis, and survived. He was later diagnosed with spastic diplegia, a form of cerebral palsy.
He started having seizures around his first birthday, and was diagnosed with epilepsy not long after. Natalie was an oopsie baby born about two months before Gabe's second birthday (instead of being the child overshadowed by a dead sibling, she becomes the child overshadowed by a medically fragile sibling. Not either of their faults, but I imagine it WOULD happen). When Gabe was around three, he had surgery to help with his spine (the muscles on one side were WAY tighter, causing his spine to curve. In order to slow down/prevent the development of scoliosis, he had the surgery and wears a brace, in addition to KAFOs and forearm braces. He's also an ambulatory wheelchair user.
I think Diana could still be bipolar in this AU, but her delusions would be different. Rather than being triggered by the death of Gabe and hallucinating an older version of him, I think it would be more focused around everything that can, has, and will go wrong with Gabe. Maybe like constantly convincing herself he's dying? I'm not sure, I'd have to do more research.
⚠️⚠️⚠️I am NOT a medical professional, nor am I ANY KIND of expert. If I get any kind of information wrong at ALL, please please please let me know and I'll fix it ASAP.⚠️⚠️⚠️
Ethan Landry/Ethan Kirsch.
I will say that as of writing this, I've only seen the first two Scream movies, but I've read the synopsis of Scream VI on Wikipedia and I've watched a BUNCH of clips on TikTok. I'm getting around to it. I'm also already very fond of Jack Champion, so I'm biased in favor of Ethan's character. This is definitely one of the more OOC ones.
Ethan is the youngest son of Wayne and Margaret Kirsch. He has an older brother, Richard "Richie" Kirsch (8 years older), and an older sister named Quinn (3 years older). In this AU, Richie torments Ethan in the name of making fan films, and Quinn often records (despite her insistence that Ethan is too young). Starting as young as two, Ethan was in and out of the hospital with multiple "roughhousing" injuries.
He and Quinn formed an unhealthy bond early on. She became fixated on "protecting" him (really just a desperate grab for ANYTHING to control), and he learned from a very young age that Quinn was in charge of everything. It started tipping over into codependence/enmeshment territory, and eventually it would have led to the events of Scream VI (where he was so isolated that he genuinely didn't know that he had a choice in NOT going along with what his family said he had to do). Instead, when he was five, he met Gabe, also five, and started hanging out at the Goodman house.
Because of this, he was exposed to actually GOOD influences (instead of his violent father and brother, absent mother, and overbearing), and learned to make choices and such for himself. He and Gabe became BEST friends quickly because Gabe has all his assistive devices and Ethan is frequently in some kind of cast or sling or bandage. Dan and Diana are concerned, obviously, but there's not much they can do aside from give Ethan a safe place to stay for a few hours. Wayne is a well known and well respected detective, and the local... everyone turns a blind eye to what's going on in the Kirsch household.
Evan Afton
Evan Afton is the son of William and Clara Afton. He has an older brother named Michael (eight years older, and the same age as Richie), and an older sister named Elizabeth (four years older, one year older than Quinn). Like Richie, Mike takes immense pleasure in tormenting his little brother, although it's more psychological than physical (jump scaring and mocking rather than chasing and hurting. He gets physical sometimes, but much less than Richie does).
Evan meets Gabe and Ethan, because like them, he's kind of an outcast. Gabe has his braces and crutches and wheelchair, and Ethan has his bruises and casts and Band-Aids, and Evan has his tears. Dan and Diana are, at this point, vaguely concerned about how Gabe seems to be a magnet for little boys with terrible families, but they open their home to Evan like they did for Ethan.
The boys are around seven when they meet. On Evan's eighth birthday, the infamous incident occurred. I haven't decided if Gabe and Ethan were there. Evan, miraculously, survives this. He's left with a severe traumatic brain injury, which leaves him almost a combination of Gabe's physical issues and Ethan's family issues. Nearly losing Evan kind of makes Michael realize he's been an ass, and he stops tormenting him and takes over as his primary caregiver (their mother is gone by this point and their father is... well. He's their father).
Michael meets the Goodmans, and by extension, Ethan, and gets a look at what he was actually doing to Evan (it didn't seem so bad to him until he saw how Richie treats Ethan, and realized how fucked up it is to see it happen to a different kid). Dan and Diana help him kind of figure out how to care for a kid with medical issues (Gabe's CP and Evan's TBI), and give him a support system for the abuse and isolation he faces at home. He starts bringing Liz, and Ethan starts bringing Quinn, giving both girls an escape and a friend.
The Actual Thing
So, I think the Whatever-Form-This-Project-May-Take would start sometime when the boys are around ten? So the ages would be:
Gabriel Goodman: 10
Natalie Goodman: 8
Richie Kirsch: 18
Quinn Kirsch: 13
Ethan Kirsch: 10
Michael Afton: 18
Elizabeth Afton: 14
Evan Afton: 10
Dan and Diana are trying to manage Diana's worsening disorder while also staying on top of Gabe's intense medical needs. Natalie is acting out more in a desperate bid to get SOME attention from her parents, who are distracted not only with their own family's needs but also Ethan's increasingly more dangerous home situation and his and Quinn's increasingly unhealthy dependence on each other, AND the Afton's situation (William is getting more dangerous, Michael is trying to sneakily get his siblings out of the house while also managing Evan's medical needs and Liz's increasingly rebellious teenage behavior). Wayne and Richie are lurking (they don't like that other people have influence over Quinn and Ethan).
Soooooo... yeah. That's kind of all I have? I like this AU, though, so I might come back to it. Short stories, maybe? Comics? Just random blurbs? More planning? Who knows.
I haven't actually edited this at all. It's mostly just stream of consciousness while I watch the Next to Normal proshot.
Again.

Some werewolf Max + lumax headcanons:
At first she has zero control over her shifting and her behavior while shifted. I like to imagine werewolves have more control over their wolf form the better their mental health is, so for now Max can only shift during the full moon, and she has very little control over her actions. She can remember most of it, though.
As she becomes part of the Party, and as she becomes closer to Lucas, she gets a lot more control, to the point she can shift at will most times.
She was turned by Billy, who in turn was turned by his father. The only non-werewolf family member there is her mom. They're considered a pack in werewolf terms, and they have a weird status system in which Neil is on top, Billy is always fighting to be the one trying to "take over" and Max is the small, weak underdog over whom Billy tries to excercise the little power he has. Max is at the bottom of the food chain there. She was, or course, turned against her will. She hates being a werewolf and hates herself for it. She feels it makes her deeply and intrinsically like them, like she can never escape them no matter how much she tries; not what they did to her, and not her fate to one day be just like them.
Her greatest fear is biting Lucas.
Neil is the only one who gets to roam free during full moons. He always chains Billy up despite Billy's constant fighting. Max locks herself in her bedroom. Conveniently for Neil, she is very quiet during full moons, mostly hiding under her bed all night. She's learned to behave - the only thing worse than full nights for her is the possibility of being locked up with Billy.
Lucas is the first person to ever tell Max she could find her own way to be a wolf, that she didn't have to be like them.
Max pretty much secretly swears loyalty to Lucas right there and then. She doesn't notice at first, but this is the moment her bond with her old pack breaks, and she begins to form a new pack with her human friends, Lucas being the first member.
Max's wolf fur used to be very thin and coarse. She used to shed a lot due to stress. During these past few years, though, she's grown a beautifully soft reddish brown coat. Lucas and El love to brush it whenever she's in wolf form.
All of Lucas' sweaters have little brown hairs on them. His mom has no idea where they come from, since they don't have a dog and, as far as she knows, neither do any of his friends. He smiles awkwardly and tells her he just discovered he's a dog person and pets every dog he sees. His mom thinks he's just hiding a puppy somewhere in his room. Erica calls bullshit on him, but tells him she'll keep his secret if he shares the puppy with her.
He actually kind of does - Erica instantly loves Max when she meets her. She tries to act unimpressed and aloof, but she's the only one small enough to ride the giant wolf so she does get the coolest experience of her life there. Turns out having a werewolf for sister-in-law is pretty fire.
Max and Erica become friends and they spend most of their time roasting Lucas and sharing embarrassing stories about him. That has nothing to do with werewolf stuff I just needed to mention it.
Max is fiercely protective of Lucas, even in human form, and will always fight anyone who tries to bully him. She's especially aggressive when it comes to Billy. They HAVE fought in wolf form, and it was terrifying because Billy was so much bigger and stronger than Max, and it seemed like he was about to kill her - she was probably saved by Lucas shooting a rock at his eye with his wrist rocket, giving Max enough time to dig her fangs into his neck. Against all odds, she wins, and in that way somewhat climbs higher up the ladder - she's above Billy now, and he needs to stay the fuck away from her and her new pack.
Lucas is very protective of Max in return - he always accompanies her during full moons and makes sure to find safe spots where no one will bother them.
He HAS played fetch with her. Once. And because it was his birthday.
El is often also there. She thinks Max looks so pretty as a wolf, and has commissioned Will to draw her a lot of times. She just really loves the feel of her fur in her fingers.
Max can be pretty rough with the other boys while in wolf form, especially Mike. She's big enough that one swipe of her tail can knock him down. Bullying Mike is one of her favorite passtimes. She's super soft and careful with Lucas and El, though.
She loves snow!!
She has little fangs when in human form. When Lucas found out he fell in love all over again.
Her clothes, too, are covered in little hairs from all her shifting.
She begins to lose control of her wolf form after Billy dies. By the time she's vecna'd, she's worse than she's even been - another reason to stay away from Lucas. She doesn't want to hurt him.

Just running an Azutara idea by you. Bloodbender!Katara with Werewolf!Azula?
Whenever the full moon comes out, Katara thinks she’s the monster everyone should be afraid of. She’s a bloodbender and, under the full moon, she can practically feel people’s blood all the time. Because of this, after the war, she hides away whenever the full moon comes out to avoid accidentally bloodbending anyone.
When she starts to date Azula, Katara feels bad for leaving on the full moon because Azula doesn’t know about her being a bloodbender so Katara thinks that Azula thinks she’s just abandoning her on certain nights. Katara decides to tell her one night during a full moon and goes looking for her girlfriend.
She can’t find Azula anywhere though, even after searching their room, looking in the throne room, and war room. Katara’s starting to get worried until she hears a noise from the kitchen. In the kitchen is a massive black wolf, eating Azula’s mochi supply, Katara’s shocked enough that she doesn’t notice something on the table and accidentally knocks it on the floor, getting wolf!Azula’s attention. Of course, wolf!Azula doesn’t attack Katara and instead knows she’s a friend. Katara spends the night taking care of her girlfriend turned wolf and, come morning, the two have a overdue long conversation.
I really love this idea @waterfire1848 Trauma bonding Azutara!
Have you ever watched Vampire diaries/the Originals/Legacies? If not, I think for this scenario you can borrow two things about werewolves. The first is we’re the werewolf curse is activated once the carrier takes a life (either in accident, murder, war, etc.) the second, the pain of transformation (it is called a curse for a reason)
In the case of Azula, the only person she killed was Aang. Albeit only temporary (thanks to her darling girlfriend). Now in Azula defense, her slaying of Aang wasn’t murder, despite what many in the fandom claim. It was self defense in battle (due to the uncontrolled Avatar state) as well as a preventative measure (Aang was killed after Azula learned that the Gaang was going to invade Caldera city. Azula’s home, during the eclipse which she learned from the EK King).
But no matter how justified (be it war, self defense, or planned invasion) or how Azula rationalized the decision, it would be enough to trigger the curse.
The transformation would be incredibly painful. Imagine the worst pains you’ve ever experienced, then multiply that by 50. Then by another 30. The bones all break and shift. Rearranging in new and foreign forms.
As such, it may serve as “confirmation” to Azula that she is indeed the most seer her mother believed her to be. Damn Ursa for giving Azula that false impression, but Katara would dissuade of her of that notion.
In regards to Katara, she would of course be traumatized by the very nature of blood bending. Turning someone’s blood against them, and making them a puppet to her whim. Katara would be horrified. Both at the power itself, it’s temptations, and how it makes a monster out of her. Or at least do Katara believed.
Now when Katara confront Azula in the morning the two have chat. Azula for one is incredibly surprised that Katara stayed the entire night with a werewolf that could kill her. If she at all doubted that Katara could love a monster like her, then it was gone. Azula would even prove to herself that she can exercise control even in wolf form. She could stop herself from hurting her love. Which was the best gift Agni or whomever had ever granted her.
Azula would begin the “long overdue” conversation first. She’d talk about what triggered the curse, how long she’s had it, and the transformations. Azula would probably try to hide just how painful the transformations are from Katara. Not wanting her to worry over something she can’t fix. Azula let’s loose a Freudian slip, and admits that Ursa was right. That she is a monster.
Katara understands the feeling her girlfriend is going through completely. She tells her about blood bending, and how she becomes a monstrous maleficar every full moon.
Azula would assert that her girlfriend is no monster. She controls this blood bending, doesn’t let it consume her and hurts no one. Despite how easy it may be to fall to the temptation of using it, Katara remains strong in her principles. Azula would tell Katara that she is not a monster. Privately though, Azula would think that Katara controlling the literal blood of her enemies is insanely hot.
Katara would also say in response, that if she isn’t a monster, than Azula isn’t either. Despite whatever she may claim. Azula would protest of course but Katara would shoot back that Azula didn’t attack her as werewolf last night, then she exhibits the same control as Katara. Katara is quite literally throwing Azula’s logic back in her face. If both girlfriends say the other is not a monster, then neither is. Privately though, Katara would wonder just how Azula’s wolf strength could be… applied to the bedroom.
Tearfully, the two girlfriends embrace. Their hearts at last beginning to mend, and new start for the two prodigious benders. Promising to be their for one another. On every full moon, and on every night thereafter.
Love finds a way! Especially Azutara love. It’s enough to overcome trying to kill each other during a war after all 😉
I’m not sure that adequately described just how painful the werewolf transformation is. Below is a link to a TVD clip on YouTube that showcases it.
