Water drips down in the corner, the steady dop drop drop— does wonders for the bat.

Batman has been taken, tied up, and undressed of his utility belt. It takes him a second to figure out who took him, by the large but empty and run down warehouse, the sound of the shore not far away.

The docks. He shuffles, bound and comm off.

Then, the steel enforced door slams open and Joker enters.

"Batsy!" He calls, overjoyed. The man walks to the bound vigilante and crouches to his height.

"It's been so long, hasn't it been?"

The vigilante grunts. "Joker."

"Today will be different." He goes on, "today, we have," the crime Prince drums his fingers on Batman's thigh. "A guest!"

He freezes at that, Joker has a civilian.

(Oracle sends out the message, her voice firm, and the coords are shared to the rest of the clan in seconds as she looks at her monitor. Batman's red dot at the harbour bright.)

"I'm a guest now?" The voice of a child asks, it brings slight confusion that the boy wasn't tied nor harmed in any way.

It's relief that he seems okay, but the danger of standing next to the Joker has Batman wiggling in his restrains.

"Is that a promotion or demotion for son?"

A brief look of annoyance enters Joker before being smoothed out, the boy is dealing with a delicate time bomb. Uncomfortably close to the madman.

(He hurries in the process of breaking free.)

"My son! My blood!" Sings the clown, throwing his hands around the boy's shoulders and prancing around.

Which brings another question.

Son?

Cool lighting hits the boy's head and the tuffs of pink, blue and green become more obvious, hidden beneath black hair previously.

Joker and Harley have a child. A son.

He will visit harley later. The boy comes first.

"Dante! Danyal! Daniel?" Joker croons, shaking the boy. "What was it again?" He stops, turning his son toward him with a grin.

(Robin drops down behind him, hiding, katana ready to be swung.)

"Danny, actually," the child— Danny– shrugs off the hands and steps back. Unflinching from the judging stare, simply waving off the hands creeping to his throat.

"Danny," the name is tested, and the Prince of Crime hums to himself. "We can always replace it as Joker Jr! It fits you better than Danny."

(Red Robin and Spoiler get on position above them, ready to pounce from the construction pillars.)

"Yeah, I don't know about that." He chuckles nervous, catching Batman's eyes and—

His eyes alone scream of fear, scared– scared—!!

"We will get you an acid flower, a new suit as well, the hoodie looks horrible on you." The man notes, humming.

"I prefer hammers." Danny replies with tense shoulders.

Joker clicks his tongue, "You always went after your mother." he hisses, outright glaring at his son now. His hand tightened around the crowbar he'd gathered not long ago.

"I mean," he hesitates, eye trailing off the Joker and over his shoulder. "I did come out of her."

The sound of a loaded gun shatters the silence, and Joker is pulling Danny, switching their positions and pushing him right in front of the gun in Red Hood's hand.

"Always a coward, hiding behind others, aren't you." Danny stops himself from squealing. That's the Red Hood!

(Escrima sticks light up with electricity as Red Hood speaks.)

Joker is ticked off, party ruined and surrounded now that he looks around.

Oh well, he can get his son on his villain path another day.

Cackling, he evades the escrimas, dodging the wonder boy and evading the twin attacks from above.

He pulls out a trigger and presses the bright red Button.

"Have fun bats and birds!"

The warehouse is completely flooded with fear gas, scarecrow wouldn't be mad he sacrificed one of his warehouses, will he?

It's all blurry. In one moment, his view is shrouded, and he's coughing. In another, he gets picked up and brought outside, the Joker gone.

An oxygen mask is placed on him by a paramedic, being handed off to an ambulance that had been called.

Peeking around, he sees Red Hood (!) still lingering around. Danny catches his eye and with a wave, the man is walking towards him.

He simply crosses his arms and tilts his head, waiting.

"Could I get a picture?" Danny blurts out, flushing after and coughing, holding the oxygen mask in his lap.

Red Hood makes a show of his shoulder sagging before crouching down and leaning toward him.

Later, Danny will look at the picture with a boyish grin, crooked and charming.

We don't talk enough about how well ALL of the Vees know and care about each other so much, like--

We first see them when Velvette is calling Vox about Val being upset in ep 2, but there's no way he would have asked for the help himself. Like he's not gonna be like "hey get Vox for me I need him" because that seems too vulnerable, BUT he was expecting Vox to come.

He literally says "Fuckin' finally!"

Which would either mean that Velvette told him Vox is on his way, OR Val knew Velvette would tell Vox to come. (It is possible he expected it because of the cameras, but Vox didn't seem to know Val was throwing a tantrum until Velvette called him, and Vox's plan for the day seemed to involve multiple meetings, so I don't think he watches the cameras often enough for that.)

Also Velvette knew how to calm Valentino down. She was busy with a fashion show and needed to focus on that, and she was mad that Val was wrecking her shit, but even after he was out of her hair and not a problem to her, she repeated to Vox that he needs to go take care of Val.

"Take care of the piss baby!"

I 100% believe she could have done it herself (she probably did partly?? considering he stopped the tantrum and was in his room before Vox got there-- unless her telling Val that Vox was on his way was what did it, but that would still be something she knew to do), but she had a show to run. Still, she wasn't going to leave Val alone to be moping around.

Also the fact Valentino seems to have some level of control over his smoke implies he wanted to be dramatic as fuck or wanted to hide himself and sat in a cloud of smoke on purpose.

Vox obviously knows how to talk Val out of shit, and canon makes it more clear that he understands Val well.

But overall there's obvious intimacy between all three of the Vees in that they care for each other and know exactly what's needed and/or what will happen in situations like that.

i didn't expect ekko and jinx's relationship to be what stays so strongly in my mind after watching arcane but here we are. it just goes to show how incredibly impactful THAT SCENE is

#i get the feeling ekko and vi are gonna switch in season 2 #vi spent all of s1 trying to take back the very last thing she did pre-time skip #but she. can't. jinx DOES have a talent for destruction #she literally keeps getting people killed #and now she's doing it on PURPOSE #and vi is making connections with topsiders so she won't be cool with that #like it's. it's unfortunate but vi wasn't Wrong #and then there's ekko who's presumably spent years trying to convince himself that jinx isn't the girl he knew anymore #only to not be able to finish the fight because oh shit it is actually??#also i think this is overlooked because the Attempted Murder is a pretty big part of jinx's stunt blowing up the bridge #but she was also willing to blow Herself up #and i think i see a little bit of that in ekko's face when he sees what she's done #jinx and vi are so compelling but it can't be Them #that makes jinx better #there's too much there #vi coming back made jinx unravel #it needs to be Outside of that #and i'm eyeing ekko so hard about it #especially because he Also knew both jinx and powder #between vi's approach of- just punch your problems in the face. ignore the dead child. it's fine.#and ekko's more. idk. sensible priorities? protecting and looking out for his people from all sides #with those two world views i know who i think would be the most help with jinx's incredibly delicate mental health situation #unfortunately you can't just punch the trauma away. like ekko said it's not about having enough to survive you need enough to Live #aaaaand i wrote an essay in the tags again #ekko and jinx important okay bye #arcane #arcane league of legends #arcane jinx #arcane ekko

#in a strange place today and i need to put this somewhere. i do not have a journal yet. this is it #my grandad was diagnosed with dementia years ago and the grandad i have now is often unrecognisable from the one i grew up with #and while this like isn’t fun and it is strange for him to look at me and not know me more times than he does. it has also been kind of l #lovely?#bc he thinks my granny is still alive so whenever i get to go see him i get to pretend she is too. and she is for a minute. and tho i am #glad she went before him. it is nice to say oh i’m popping in to see her after this grandad and talk about her like she’s hasn’t been gone #since i’ve been ten. my dad has spoken more to him in the last five years than he has his whole life #he was not an easy man. he was loud and friendly and hard working and funny and scary but not easy. in ways he is even #harder now. in others he is easier.#he is more of a child. this is what dementia can do to a brain. we are learning things about his childhood that no one alive has ever spoken #about. that no one knew. my dad doesn’t love him more now but he understands him better #my grandad taught me how to drive a tractor and how to fish through my dad and he has not recognised me in over a year and he #hasn’t walked since he broke his pelvis seven years ago and his muscles are nearly all gone. he is a fraction of the size he used to be. his #personality and body took up my childhood like adults on the screen in cartoons. he hasn’t dressed himself in a decade. he told one of the #nurses that after dinner he wanted ice cream plain like herself and nearly peed when she laughed and told him to fuck off #he is in there. he is himself. i know him. but he isn’t. he doesn’t know me but he allows me to tell him how to ppl he knows are doing. he #still somehow trusts me. we talk a lot about my granny and how she stayed up watching tv again last night so she’s tired today. don’t stay #long when you call in to see her?#whenever we would journey to see him and my granny and get in v late he’d ask us if we wanted apple tart and my granny would say michael.#not ur kids. u can’t parent them. he didn’t know my name yesterday but he asked me if i wanted apple tart #i hope he dies soon. for all that i will miss this. miss my dad having this. he would not want to live like this. it wouldntbe living to him

The idea of Anakin trying to “fix” what he did as Vader (or more like redeem himself, since what he did can't be ‘fixed’) by helping people all over the galaxy as a Force Ghost does something to me

#anakin skywalker #darth vader #star wars #like. he goes to tatooine to help children find their way home when there's a sandstorm #he helps the slaves find food and water #when the empire returns he stays with the child soldiers they're using to give them company #he eventually becomes famous #leia and luke hear about this and go investigating #leia gets herself stuck in a shipwreck somehow and anakin helps her fix it without telling her who he is until she's finally safe #anakin regularly talks to luke and tells him stories about his mother. he doesn't see obi wan much but they're way better than before #leia doesn't forgive him (she never will) but after a while she's willing to listen to him #anakin is happy. leia will never forgive him but she can at least try to get to know him better bc that's what they both deserve #anakin is scared of interacting with ben solo bc he doesn't want him to end up the same way he did #still when ben gets lost in the woods he goes to help him. other children used to make fun of ben for never seeing the blue ghost #until he shows himself in front of them and says hi to ben like he knew him from forever #leia's not thrilled but she gets why he did it #anakin is being blocked from talking to ben when he Falls. he promises leia that he'll try to get through him but it's just not working #when ben dies anakin scolds him. that's when ben realizes that “YOU are darth vader??”#“i sure fucking am”#he helps rey and finally gains the courage to talk to ahsoka and apologize to her #just imagine the possibilities #avis talks #avis' post

#i need more people to understand her character and not just dismiss her as an evil person #a pawn or an emotionless husk #i need more people to understand that Ursa isnt a good parent #she married a monster and only realized her mistake after it was too late #once she had Zuko she finally had someone to pour her love into and to make her feel less isolated #so she coddled him and would spend all of her time with him #Ozai is a smart man im sure he noticed and figured out exactly why she was always preoccupied with Zuko which made him have a certain #disdain for his son which only grew as he got older and didnt meet his father's impossible standards #and then came Azula #her mother already had her perfect child so she didnt get as much attention from her #especially when she started showing certain characteristics that were reminiscent of her father #ursa was unnerved by Azula and her difficulty understanding certain things such as empathy #she was certain this child would grow up to be a monster like her father #so she never bothered trying to teach her to be better than him #which left her all to her father #who could groom her into the fire bending prodigy and brutal warrior that we knew in the show #he controlled her and manipulated her into being exactly what he wanted #a puppet and a weapon to be used as he saw fit #and when the curtains lifted ever so slightly from her eyes showing her the reality of her situation she broke #rambles #avatar the last airbender #princess azula

Was looking through my drafts and a good handful of them are like just a sentence or two, piece of dialogue, a paragraph, yknow just something that’s more of an idea instead of a draft and one of them is

“Garroth freezes as soon as he opens the door. Baby in a basket”

And that’s it. And it tells me I’ve reread that sentence before and could feel myself forgetting the base idea so I just. Slapped a little reminder onto it. Baby in a basket.

Someone told me that he 'like hanging around with me' and he 'love my smile' today

#years after my birth im finally finding out the genuine joy of making friends #also relief. ive got so used for my mere existence to be an annoyance to other people as a child so its so important to me when people say #they like to have me around #had to turn down a very big socialization opportunity bc i was hungry and i couldnt come with him - will try to make up for it next time #what he said was totally platonic btw hes gay and im not a man #he also told me 'when i first met you i thought you were trans' and the urge i felt to come out to him and say 'YES ACTUALLY (but also here #the nuances:') but it came out of nowhere and there were bystanders so i didnt want to risk it and just. 'honestly im not sure' was the bes #half-truth half-lie i could muster #but hey he made me comfortable with coming out to him so one day perhaps #gosh i wish im not going to mess up this newly forming friendship (?) with my little to non-existent social skills #man also has the same dumb humor as me. i have to find a way to keep him around #my mom would burst into tears if she knew how much i smile talk and am open around him. not my fault he is a person whom you naturally feel #safe around #normally people ask me if im 'angry/pissed/annoyed/sad' because i have a resting bitch face and dont talk much to anyone #the surprise people must feel once they get to know me better.. granted i cant name any but whatever lol
