“Not much, for now we hired Charlotte as class clown, she’s is pretty funny. The other day she talked a lot about you”

“What did she say? Hope she didn’t reveal any secrets” Daniel showed a smile

“She looked sad, you know why?”

“Yeah. She’s the type of talent you saw on the track and your mind already click on what’s coming next, like, the next big thing. I told her that the events that happened on McLaren aren’t gonna affect our friendship”

“So, you’re good with the decision?”

“This is a sport that If they’re not happy with you, you’re out, you just have to remember the good days, enjoy the butterflies. I told her that she’s so powerfull, to surround to people who cares about her and then continue with their feet on the ground and let go the idea that you have to be the best or do the most to be worth something”

“You’re a good friend and we’re gonna miss you. What’s the next thing for you?”

“I don’t know. I guess we have to wait ‘till next season”

What I sent to the discord on the new support hero Juno

So here's my take on her since I finally had the chance to watch her trailer and she's currently playable for very limited time (I think today is the last day) so I goofed around in Practice Range.

She's a solid support hero. Her abilities are nice, I like the speed boost ring cause I think it'll help enable certain tanks (reinhardt) without needing a Lucio on the team bc it gives speed boost to start a fight and is on short enough cool down that it can be maybe used again at the end of a fight. Her healing/damaging missiles are not super strong, and will divide between how many targets you have. If there is one target (enemy), then they have the potential to do a lot of damage, but honestly it's not worth it imo to use on just one enemy. I'd rather use the healing potential on my friendly tank if possible. Her glide ability is only horizontal, which means she needs to use her double jump ability if she wants to be higher up, she's actually not very high in the sky box at all.

Her primary fire is like Ana's: heals when you shoot friendlies, and damages when you shoot enemies. Except Juno's damage/healing is very low per burst. She has 180 rounds, I don't remember how many bullets per burst, but it's not a lot of healing/damage. I like this concept in heros, especially supports. Helps force a balance between damaging and healing

Overall, I don't think she's broken, I think for a support she's actually really well balanced already

Now as for her personality and voice lines: I think she's fucking annoying 😅

She gets one point for calling Reinhardt "Sir Wilhelm" because he IS a knight

I think she's going to be a lot like Kiriko in the sense she's gonna get a lot of skins and stuff pretty frequently, but she's got an iconic appearance and has been a favorite since her teaser/leak.

She seems very simple in the sense she's super easy to play and get value out of, but it's not broken. She has a good skill ceiling though for her knowing how to most effectively use her abilities to enable your team during team fights

Overall I actually really like her and can't wait to be able to play more of her

You know without a shadow of a doubt that when it comes to playing games with each other, you and Kenma can get really competitive. So much so that when you end up playing on opposite teams, whoever loses throws a huge hissy fit afterwards. Lucky, that usually results in the winner giving kisses and cuddles to the loser, so it really was a win win situation no matter what.

However, you and Kenma have a nasty habit of making bets. Sometimes, the bets don't even make sense or relate to whatever game it is you're both playing. And the stakes of those bets are even more ridiculous. Like, the bet will be, "I bet I can grab more coins than you by the time the rounds over," and the punishment is, "If I win, you have to act like a dog for a whole hour." Just a bunch of random bullshit. But it's fun random bullshit, so you guys never questioned it before.

Kuroo most definitely finds it a little weird when he overhears your conversations. Like you'll wager, "If my skin wins the skin comp, then you have to wear a dress for your next practice." It honestly concerns him sometimes, but he never says anything because it was always funny when Kenma would have to come in some weird outfits during practice.

But most of your real disputes and "arguments'' come from whenever you guys argue who the best character in a game is. Here is a little scenario that I believe would happen: (and apologizes for using Overwatch as the example, its a good game okay?)

"Damn, someone already took Widowmaker." You huff. Kenma's face distorts with disgust. "Widowmaker, seriously? Ana is definitely the best sniper." You stop and slowly turn around, looking over at Kenma. "Are you serious? There are only 4 snipers in the whole game and you wanna pick Ana? She does, like, no damage dude."

"Well, neither does Widow unless you can actually land a shot." He looks over at you with unamused eyes. "Oh shut up! Not like you're much better at aiming, Mr. D.Va main!" You and Kenma both knew where this conversation was gonna end up, but the heat of the moment always prevented either of you from backing down. "D.Va is the best damn tank in this game and you know it! And unlike you, Mercy main, I can actually defend myself and fight instead of hiding behind all the strong players."

"Without my healing and power boosts, you'd be dead so many times that it's uncountable. My healing keeps you from losing the payload you arrogant prick." Those kinds of insulting nicknames were commonplace in both of your vocabulary's at this point, so it didn't really hurt him.

Nonetheless, a hush falls over the two of you, neither of you looking at one another. After what maybe be an hour of you two playing games in silence, you sigh softly and turn to him. You knew he could be stubborn sometimes, and so can you, but you knew he wasn't going to be the one to bring it up again after it seemed like the issue had been dropped.

You stand up from your chair and walk over to where he was sitting in his own chair, leaning down and wrapping your arms around his neck from behind. "We good?" You ask softly, just like you have every other time something like this happens. Kenma nods, a faint smile on his lips. "We're good." And no more needed to be said.

Because despite your differences when it comes to something small like video games, both of you knew that your little quarrels were nothing to actually get mad about and hate each other over.

Making time

Players: Pedri, Gavi

Theme: Bromance, Platonic love

It was 11:00pm at night and his phone was going off. The girl that Pedri met at Eric’s TikToker girlfriend’s party during the weekend, Ana, finally texted back and they started chatting on Whatsapp. Dating has never been easier or harder. Being well-known is confusing when you're famous, but Ana seemed authentic. The third year in Fc Barcelona has started well and for now, September is looking great. The team is winning, and most of the new guys are fitting in and understanding the Barcelona style. His friendships with his teammates were as bonded as they could get. Ferran and Eric are always texting and when they're not with their girls, they all hang out. Gavi is his best friend at the moment. He is the closest friend he has ever had besides his brother, Fernando. On Thursday’s training, Eric was teasing Pedri about Ana, according to Eric, Pedri had little game but Ana was into him anyway. “Hey, Pedri, are you talking to Anita? It’s been a while since you’ve been on a date, hermanito." said Eric “Yea, you'll start feeling like a virgin soon” Ferran interrupted. “Guys, grow up, there’s nothing wrong with being a virgin. It’s going great for me” said a smiling Gavi as he got into their conversation’s circle. They all laughed. “Yea, I’m talking to Anita, she’s nice and so cute, we’re figuring out when to go out and what to do”. said Pedri “Oh, great! Now I’m gonna lose another friend to a fucking novia” snapped Gavi. “Gavi, I’m too young for a girlfriend! That’s too serious,” said Pedri defensively, “we’re just talking”. “Right, sure!” Gavi said sarcastically. 

Later that day Gavi and Pedri went to Pedri’s house to watch TV, eat a bit, and play FIFA. They both were half sitting, and half laying comfortably on the couch. Gavi was drinking water and had his big light brown eyes wide open while looking at the TV.

Pedri looked at him for a second, while remembering the conversation in training. “Mira, Gavi, even if I get a girlfriend, I won’t disappear. I’ll always make time for us, you know” he said with a bit of nostalgia in his voice.

Pedri didn’t care if he sounded like he cared too much, Gavi had really become a good friend and he wanted to guard him and his feelings. They understood each other, how they both hated the cold and navigated towards the warmth like in their home cities. They are the same in a lot of ways, like how they both could only think of football, being good at it, being in shape, driven to be technically better, and winning, but they’re also family people and trying hard not to be affected by all the attention and money. They both had their parents manage their money, it wasn’t important to them to be flashy. Gavi was important to Pedri.

Gavi looked at him with a shy smile and said “Hermano, I know. I feel the same way” and immediately he side-hugged Pedri while kissing his shoulder at the same time. Gavi always showed his feelings with physical attention. Gavi admired Pedri, deeply, he felt so lucky to have his friendship. “Ok, now when this episode ends. How about we get a snack and play FIFA? I’m out of practice, but I promise to beat your ass." said Gavi “Ni lo sueñes, enano” said Pedri with a side smile “I always have Messi on my FIFA team”.

Okay. I know this sounds terrible. But I am a fiend for drama. The whole new blood comic, and the Voicelines that go along with the game.

I desperately want to see lines being crossed.

Now I'm not saying 'hey lets have history repeat itself again, yeah! Let's do that!'. No no no.

I wanna see each character go through some sort of struggle getting used to the team. Someone may overstep boundaries with certain situations.

I'm pretty sure Cassidy said something about people like them 'doing whatever it takes'.

And that could definitely effect how they handle certain situations.

All I'm saying is that no group is 100% perfect.

'New Blood' will definitely be shed at some points.

LORD YOU ARE SO RIGHT-

One thing I think will definitely cause conflict between the New Bloods is Zarya's view on Omnics. Most of the New Bloods have no real opinion on Omnics, most of them being positive. But Zarya has only recently been going into the direction of accepting Omnics, even then we can see she has a long road a head of her. The big problem is that Cassidy, out of all the New Bloods, is the most accepting towards Omnics, especially with his dynamic with Echo. So her being hostile towards Echo might cause some serious internal conflict, and considering that Cassidy has a very similar story to Zarya, they both lost parents, they both had to give up they're dreams in order to protect/survive, I doubt he'd let her use what's happening in Russia as an excuse. Though I do believe Cassidy would be understanding if she immediately backtracks and clarifies that she's trying to change her behaviour, something we see happening.

That would definitely be a part of the overstepping boundaries part of the equation.

With the whole "doing whatever it takes" statement, I think it's about them all willing to risk they're lives and the mission to protect the people they care about or to do what's right. We see it with Cassidy on multiple occasions, we see it with D.VA in "Shooting Star" where we find out her ultimate is actually an incredibly risky thing to do, we see it with Baptiste and risking his life to save a traitor of Overwatch in order to try and protect the information of ex-Overwatch agents, we see Zarya abandon her mission in "Searching" in order to save Lynx, we see it with Pharah when people tell her to take a break and she refuses.

They all put they're own well being on the line in order to do what they think is right.

As for history repeating itself, I don't want that to happen either. However, I want to see characters learning from they're pasts. I said before that I think the New Bloods and the Original Strike Team mirror eachother, but specifically I said Pharah and Reaper mirror eachother and I think that is the main thing that will cause contention.

Cause everyone says Pharah is like Ana. No one but Cassidy would pick up she's going down a dark path.

Both Pharah and Reyes have the same "change the system from within" mind set. We see it with Reyes countless times and we see it in Pharah with her interactions with Kiriko. They are also both stubborn and are quick to hostility.

Do I think Pharah is gonna end up like Reaper? No. Cassidy and Ana would die before that happened. However, I do see conflicts rising within the New Bloods because of this, especially with Cassidy and Pharah.

I think another thing that should be mentioned is that compared to the stuff that the other New Blood members do, D.VA is way more reckless then them. What she did in "Shooting Star" was borderline suicidal and she was lucky to be alive. I see that being a big concern for everyone else, especially Cassidy and Baptiste.

Also Cassidy and Baptiste's habit of brushing off the things that are bothering is definitely going to be an issue, to everyone else they're not taking the situation seriously. To them they are one inconvenience away from a meltdown. With Baptiste it's a bit easier since we see him open up to Cassidy and Pharah, we also know he and Sombra are close, but Cassidy doesn't have that. In the Deadlock novel Ashe mentioned that Cassidy had a line, a wall, that she was never able to cross. I don't think that ever went away.

But one thing is important to point out and that is, this isn't any of these characters first rodeo. Cassidy saw how the first Overwatch fell first hand, Baptiste saw the corruption of Talon, Pharah witnessed the people she cared about slowly drift away, Zarya had her whole world view turned upside-down, DVA was given the responsibility of protecting a whole country at a young age.

I think that unlike the Original Strike Team, who were never really able to properly deal with all they went through, the New Bloods are going to learn from the struggles they face and come out the other side better than before.

Are they romanceable: Absolutely, by either Shepard, but you gotta unlock the romance with a hard to reach dialogue tree. 

How do they react to the PC returning: Oh, she’s real upset about it, for obvious reasons. But Hope Lilium tells her to join the Normandy crew at all costs. And to kill Shepard before she goes on the Suicide Mission (to stop it from happening.)

Personal quest: One of her old classmates in biotic training, Dreya T’Vasi, has been kidnapped and is being held for ransom. Travel to Hyetiana and free the hostage.

The tricky bit is Dreya is being held by a Justicar. Cause Dreya is an ardaht yakshi. So Shepard has to choose between saving Dreya for the clone’s loyalty or siding with the justicar for Samara’s. 

Do they fight with any other companions: Just Shepard. She corners them in the Normandy cabin on the eve of the suicide mission. Pulls off her wig and demands Shepard argue why she should be allowed to live. 

What files does the Shadow Broker have on them: Training footage on Hyetiana. The Illusive Man’s plans for the Clone should Shepard fail. Her journal entries about Shepard and Dreya.

Can they die in the suicide mission, and how: You absolutely do not want to select the Clone as team leader. She does not command loyalty and the B team will end up being taken out by the Collectors.

MASS EFFECT 3:

When/how are they recruited: Being a ME2 character, The Clone only shows up in the Citadel DLC. The DLC runs as normal, but you can choose to save her from falling. As you should. (But you only get to save her if you earned her loyalty in ME2)

Where are they on the Normandy: Right in front of the galaxy map. Oh you mean after her and Shep make up. She doesn’t tend to stay in one spot. But she’s most often found in the lounge, staring out the window as if the stars have the answer to her questions.

Are they romanceable: Yup, but only if you started the romance in ME2.

Citadel meetup (during the game, where do you meet them on the Citadel and what do you talk about): The Clone is naturally cleaning the mess in the Archives. She’s surprised that Shep accepted her invitation, but definitely doesn’t begrudge the help. It quickly devolves into a contest of who can clean the fastest, with a few dialogue options that turn flirty if you romanced her in ME2.  

How does the PC relax with them in the Citadel DLC (ie, buying gifts with EDI, watching the game with James and Vega, etc.): The Clone will suggest a Paint Your Own Pottery place, where they can get to know each other better. It quickly devolves into a rivalry of who can paint better/faster. The finished plate ware will show up in the kitchen of Shepard’s apartment upon their return. If romanced, the cut scene ends with a kiss that lands clay on Shepard’s face.

What do they say to the PC before the final battle: “If you’re expecting me to take your place, you’re full of shit, Shepard. But thank you, for everything. I owe you my life three times over. Crazy, huh? But don’t you dare get yourself KO’d, alright? Or I’m gonna come Lazarus your ass just so I can kill you myself. So don’t get any crazy ideas.”

If you want to try to ramble about the Mother series, I'd love to hear what you have to say

Okay I

Cannot at all guarantee this will be coherent it's very hard for me to put some of my thoughts on this series into words, especially as omitting a lot of context

Not gonna even try and make this spoiler-free bc the spoilers are what I love most abt it, so heads up on that. This may end up having follow-up posts depending on how long it gets, but for now I'm mainly gonna talk about the characters as they're what I love most about the series. We'll be here forever if I try to explain the plots too

Also, Mother is a surprisingly dark series past all the nonsensical whimsy. There's themes of bullying, death and child neglect mentioned in this, you've been warned.

The Mother series is very unique, as it is (overall) an RPG set in the modern day. 198X for Mother 1, 199X for Mother 2/Earthbound, and an unknown time for Mother 3. On top of fighting things like aliens and robots, you also fight crows, gas pumps and hippies. Weird time, but a fun time too.

The protagonist of Mother 1 is Ninten, who's mission is to stop an invasion from the alien Giegue, as well as recover the pieces of a song for a woman called Queen Mary in the fantasy world of Magicant. Ninten doesn't get a huge amount of development due to being a silent protagonist, but I find the types of psychic abilities he learns to be indicative of his personality: he learns mainly defense and protective abilities, he wants to keep his loved ones safe most of all. He is also one of the first canonically disabled protagonists in a video game, being asthmatic.

The first friend Ninten meets on his quest is Lloyd, a timid but intelligent boy with a love for rockets and other gadgets. Unfortunately he's the victim of severe bullying from his schoolmates, to the point he spends his free time in a garbage can on the school roof to avoid them. Befriending Lloyd is a key moment in Mother 1: he is the only companion absolutely mandatory to complete the game, and when he joins you the overworld music changes from the song "Pollyanna" to the very appropriately named "Bein' Friends".

Ninten's next friend is Ana, who joins the party after the boys return her hat to her in the hopes of finding her missing mother. Ana isn't very physically strong, but her psychic abilities are extremely powerful, enough that she's been having dreams of Ninten before she even met him. She and Ninten harbor feelings for each other, shown late in the game when they dance together in a mountain cabin.

There's also Teddy, in his late teens/early twenties, leader of the local criminal gang, who joins the group to avenge the deaths of his parents. He kicks Lloyd out of the team, believing him to be too weak, but Lloyd later saves them from a robot attack by destroying it with a tank. Teddy's severely injured and has to stay behind to recover, but grows to respect Lloyd as a result. In the original release it was implied he died of his injuries, but in rereleases it's confirmed he recovered and started over, leaving his criminal past and becoming a club singer.

After recovering the pieces of Queen Mary's song, it's revealed that she is Maria, Ninten's great-grandmother. Magicant is the last remaining ghost of her consciousness, and before it disappears she reveals she and her husband, George, had been abducted years ago to become Giegue's surrogate parents. The song you've been learning was the lullaby she sung to him as a baby. When you finally confront Giegue, it's a very unconventional final boss battle. You don't kill him, you don't even physically beat him; you sing the lullaby, reminding him of his mother Maria. He even offers to let Ninten come with his before he leaves, acknowledging him as family. He swears to return someday, though.

Mother 2/Earthbound is simultaneously a remake and sequel of the first game, and it's protagonists are noticeably similar to their predecessors. Ness is the new main protagonist, and like Ninten is mostly silent. He loves his family dearly, to the point that if he doesn't phone home regularly he will become homesick. Unlike Ninten, who practically stumbled into his journey, Ness and his friends are prophesised to save the world from Giegue (now known as Giygas). Ness must also learn a song, but this time from visiting powerfu energy spots across the world.

The first friend Ness meets is Paula. Much like Ana, she is physically weak but extremely powerful psychically. She's been kidnapped by a cult, and after her rescue (and reuniting briefly with her parents), joins Ness on his journey. Her telepathic abilities are invaluable in meeting with the next friend, Jeff.

Jeff Andonuts is from overseas, living at a boarding school. The only member of the group without PSI, he more than makes up with it with his technological prowess. After hearing Paula's call for help, he sets off to meet up with them. His best friend, Tony (one of the first canonical gay characters in gaming!), helps him out of the school, and Jeff heads to his father's science lab in hopes he can help him get to Ness and Paula over the ocean.

Dr. Andonuts is... absent, to put it tactfully, despite only living the other side of the lake from Jeff's boarding school, he hasn't seen his son in ten years. Jeff even corrects himself whenever he calls him Dad.

Extra note: the novelisation is... not my favourite, but Jeff is physically disabled in this version, using leg braces and later prostheses although how he gets them is a bit yikes. He also uses an off-roader wheelchair in one chapter, and personally this is smth I've adopted as my headcanon

The final member of the party is Prince Pu (who received a much more unfortunate name in translation that I refuse to call him :]), from the Eastern kingdom of Dalaam. He goes through some... absolutely nightmare-inducing meditative training before joining the group, and if you want to see what I mean look up "earthbound mu training" on youtube.

Mother 3's main protagonist is Lucas, although aside from the prologue you don't actually get to play as him for quite a while. Lucas is initially a shy but still very happy boy, but after the brutal death of his mother and disappearance of his twin brother Claus, and the subsequent neglect from his father Flint, who spends all his time searching for Claus, Lucas becomes a shell of his former self. Yet he has a signature PSI ability: PK Love. And at the end of the game, when offered to restore or destroy the world, despite having experienced nothing but loss and loneliness for years, Lucas chooses to love the world that hurt him.

Kumatora is a so-called "princess", but by choice she doesn't really live up to the role. She continues the trend of incredibly skilled PSI-wielding girls, but unlike her predecessors is a rebellious tomboy.

Duster is the successor of Lloyd and Jeff as the group's non-psychic member, but the similarities end there. Duster's a grown man, raised as a thief by his father Wess. Unfortunately, Wess holds the title of Fucking Terrible Parent. He's verbally abusive to Duster after he makes an honest mistake, and the game all but outright states he permanently disabled his son by overworking him. Duster walks with a limp, a fact that is mentioned in-game and was even animated into his walking animation, a detail that I appreciate a lot as someone who also walks with a limp.

There's also Boney, Lucas's loyal dog. He accompanies Lucas throughout his journey, remaining a constant and reliable companion.

Then there's Pokey Minch, Ness's neighbour from Earthbound. There's... honestly so much to talk about with this character, so I'm gonna save it for a post dedicated solely to him. He's surprisingly complex and quite a tragic character despite the antagonistic (and.. almost irredeemable) role he plays.

This post really doesn't do these characters justice, but they mean so much to me. The games are all noticeably more challenging before you meet your friends, because struggling alone is tough. All three groups are quite diverse and a lot of them come from difficult backgrounds, but they're all treated quite respectfully. They send some important messages, especially for the time the games were released; disabled people can still be strong, girls can be as skilled as boys (if not more so), you don't need special abilities to be important.

Here’s the thing. I understand that 911 is a show about first responders, which means the majority of the focus and screen time will be dedicated to the first responders. I also understand that any other characters that aren’t first responders (re: any of the kids, Karen, small recurring characters like Sue or Josh, etc) just aren’t going to get that much screen time. I really do get it. 

However. IF the people at 911 are so set on pairing off Buck and Eddie with female love interests, particularly as an endgame (whenever that happens. right now we have no idea what Natalia and Marisol will end up being), then I’m gonna need them to step up their game. Again, IF the folks at 911 are truly set on Buddie not becoming canon (yes we’ll have to wait and see, but the season 6 choices have really, uh, dampened my faith about this), then I truly hope they put legit effort into making whoever the endgame love interests are decent and some level of interesting characters. 

Will I care about whoever the endgame LI will be? Probably not because nothing will compare to Buddie for me, and I’m allowed to feel this way. BUT I want to at the very least be able to say, “they actually tried to make each person interesting, and each couple decent.” I really hope to be able to give out a “you tried” sticker because so far? They continue to do a poor job at even trying. 

I think some people forget that Abby was a main character in season one, which is why she was more developed compared to any other person Buck has been with romantically. For Shannon... honestly in some ways we still don’t know all that much about her. We just know the big things like her and Eddie didn’t know how to work as a team, Shannon’s mom got sick, the Diaz parents didn’t seem to like Shannon (even before she left), Shannon abandoned her son for 2+ years with no contact, and before she died she - I believe - was going to leave again. Shannon generally seemed to be a kinda selfish person. 

But anyway.

Can’t say much about Ali because she was in, what, 4 episodes total and 3 of them kinda briefly. The biggest thing was that she couldn’t handle the reality of Buck’s job, so she left. The actress and Oliver had I guess decent chemistry.

Can’t say much about Ana either beyond she’s a teacher, she’s some level of ableist, and uhhh has a family? Like y’all, we didn’t learn anything about her cfgvjhlj. (side note? we were only ever told that Chris loved Ana, but we saw no true evidence of this. we saw zero legit bonding moments between Ana and Chris). The actress and Ryan had zero chemistry. 

Unfortunately TK go a lot of screen time, but it was all to say what we’ve known since her first appearance in episode 2x06. TK is career driven and will do whatever she has to to get ahead. She’s selfish, possess little sympathy or empathy for anyone. Has trauma from her childhood that she clearly never worked through, and uses it as an excuse to exploit other peoples trauma in the name of “sharing the truth” or whatever bullshit. Idk, she’s not a good person. I’ll truly never understand what Buck supposedly saw in her, but whatever. And you guessed it, the actress and Oliver had zero chemistry. Hm, I’m sensing a pattern here...

As of right now we know nothing about Natalia beyond her profession. Well - and she thinks Buck’s death was “so cool,” she got overwhelmed at Buck’s life and ran, but came back because?????? and thinks buying a couch with a guy she’s been on like 4 dates is normal I guess (Buck is weird for this too). And once again the actress and Oliver have zero chemistry, ffs.

Don’t know anything about Marisol beyond liking DIY. The actress and Ryan have no chemistry. No seriously, why are Ryan and Oliver now constantly stuck with acting partners they have no chemistry with???? This makes it even less enjoyable to watch.

Hell, Eva got more development than most of the love interests I just talked about. I actually felt like the show tried with David, too, Michael’s partner (husband now? still fiance??). So I’m just baffled at how Buck and Eddie continue to get the short end of the stick with their love interests. 

tl;dr I wish the writers would just. try with the love interests they give Eddie and Buck, because the evidence so far tells me they don’t. Also, I’m begging them to hire acting partners that have literally any chemistry with Ryan and Oliver.

Mat Barzal was one of the hottest players on the Islanders and when you met you never expected it to end up where you were now. A year and a half into a serious relationship with the Isles star and you truly couldn’t be more happy. Mat saw you for who you were immediately and fell for you within the first month of dating. You accepted him for who he was in more than just a “hot shot hockey player” kinda way. You understood him and learned who he was outside of hockey.

You stood in the tunnels chatting with the other wags, waiting for the guys to come out of the locker rooms to congratulate them. When you finally see Mat making his way over to you, you feel the butterflies erupting in your stomach and the giddy feeling taking over your body.

“Baby, you won! I’m so proud of you.” and he could tell you truly were proud just by the gleam in your eyes and the adoration written all over your face. You wrapped your arms around Mat’s neck, allowing for him to pick you up by your waist when you hugged. He spun you around once before placing you back on your feet, leaning down to kiss you. “You ready?”

“Hell yes. Time to celebrate with my guys and my girl.” Mat said proudly, interlocking your hands, giving yours a small kiss as you walked down the hall.

Just like every other team in the league, going out to a popular club or bar was a tradition whenever a game was won, especially a home game. So here you are standing in a crowded bar admiring your boyfriend boasting about the game his team won. You felt like the most proud girlfriend in the bar that night, everyone around you cheering and doing shots going all out to celebrate. Mat had his arm wrapped around your waist as he stood at the bar talking with Tito when a few girls made their way over. You’d seen them hanging around before after games so you weren’t surprised when they leaned in front of you to give Mat a side hug and a kiss on the cheek. Mat involuntarily let go of your waist to reciprocate the hug wanting to be polite to the girls gawking at Mat and Tito. You stood idly by trying your best to interact in the conversation the boys were pulled into by the tall, blonde, beautiful girls.

“No, like you guys were so great tonight!” One of the girls spoke, grabbing onto your boyfriend's shoulder. You rolled your eyes, slowly backing away from the small group not wanting anyone to notice. you figured they were better off in their own world without you, for now, mat deserved the praises even if they were coming from beautiful bombshell groupies. He looked so happy and with how you were feeling, you decided to get some air. You made your way outside, instantly wrapping your arms around your body to shield from the winter New York weather and took a deep breath in and out trying not to work yourself up. The thoughts never escape your mind about how Mat might be better off without you and with one of the girls talking him up inside the bar. It wasn’t fair how they pushed you off him and wormed in between you guys. You didn’t want it to bother you, but of course, it did. You chewed on your bottom lip looking up at the sky, the darkness filled with the city lights. That same darkness trying to consume your thoughts.

It didn’t take long for Mat to notice you were gone and immediately sensing a panicking feeling forming in his chest at your absence. He felt like a dick for not even seeing you leave the group, he moved away from the surrounding girls and Tito making his way around the bar to look for you. Feeling his heart pounding in his chest when he didn’t see you with the other wags.

“Where’s Y/N? Have you seen her?” Mat asked the groups of wags, eyes wide, concern filling his features.

“I think she went outside. She looked upset, I was gonna check on her-” one of the wives spoke up, pointing towards the exit. Mat thanked her and started towards the door when he was pulled back by one of the girls.

“Mat! Where are you going? Don’t leave us!” the three blondes giggled surrounding Mat, hands touching his back and biceps.

“My girlfriend needs me. Take a hint and find someone else to grope.” Mat says through gritted teeth, the anger now finally showing through. He shrugged the girls off before beelining out the door and spotting her, his only girl, leaning against the side of the building.

“Baby, there you are!” Mat breathed out, touching his hands to his chest signifying his relief upon seeing her face. His nerves shown by him running his fingers through his hair.

“What's wrong? What are you doing out here?” you asked, not wanting to get into why you disappeared from the group. However, your boyfriend wasn’t stupid and he could see right through you. He knew you better than anyone else ever had.

“You came out here alone? You okay, did someone bother you?” Mat ignored your questions, grabbing your hands and looking all over you to make sure you were still in perfect condition and no harm had been done. Younod your head yes, but Mat can sense when somethings not right. He brings his hands up to your face, cupping your cheeks delicately, his hands warming you up instantly. Your hands following in suit, placing them right above his, clinging onto his wrists, keeping his hands on your face. He’s looking deep into your eyes, his hazel ones silently asking you what’s wrong and how he could help you in these moments. You can feel yourself sinking into the trance he’s pulling you into and you don’t notice your eyes starting to well with tears. Mat wraps his arms around you, pulling you into a tight hug and kissing your forehead and temple.

“Those girls in there...I-”

“Hey listen to me, you know nobody compares to you right?” Mat whispered into your ear and you chuckle shaking your head, now feeling a few tears slip through. “It’s true. I only got my eyes on you, you’re it for me. Now and forever.”

“I love you,” you say looking up at Mat, a shy smile on your face when he kisses your nose and wipes away your stray tears with his thumbs.

“C’mon, you wanna go back inside?” you nod when he asks, and grab his hand letting him lead you back inside the club to a vip table where the rest of the team and wags are sitting. He pulls you into his lap, rubbing up and down your arms before resting them wrapped around your waist. He’s whispering sweet nothings into your ear and leaving kisses on your neck and shoulders between every word. Mat can feel the girls from before staring at the two of you and when he looks over to confirm it was true, he smirks before turning your cheek to look at him. His hand on your hip tightened, he let out a hum as he leaned closer to you, his nose brushing against yours. You hardly had a second to react before he closed the gap, meeting you in a kiss that he rarely gave you in public. One of his hands on your waist and the other cupping your cheek bringing you closer to him, your lips enveloping eachother’s. Your hands tangling themselves in his hair, massaging his scalp lightly and pulling on the ends of his hair just enough for him to moan into your mouth. He lightly bit your bottom lip, the tactic working like it always did and making you open your mouth. Just as he was about to keep going you pulled away much to his protest, with a smile covering your features trying to regain your breath.

“What was that for?” you laugh, poking his slightly pink cheeks. You ran your fingers through his hair, loving the feeling and giggling when Mat let out a small grunt as you twisted your fingers pulling on the hair at the nape of his neck.

“I just love you. And I want everyone to know.” Mat says confidently nodding his head at the girls and leaning back in his chair. The two of you watching the blondes storm out with stank looks plastered on their faces as you pull your boyfriend back in for another kiss.

“You’re the one I’m taking to bed tonight.” Mat says against your lips, squeezing your hips moving his hands down giving your butt a soft squeeze too. “And every night.”

On Buddie and them potentially being aware of their feelings

So we definitely see evidence of how Eddie might feel about Buck, how he clearly loves and trusts him. He absolutely relies on Buck a lot as someone who loves Christopher, as that person you go to who cares about your kid as much as you do. And he clearly doesn’t handle not having Buck around very well during the storyline that must not be named. 

He also looks at Buck like “you’re lucky you’re pretty”, a LOT. And he’s shown to think about Buck’s wellbeing and Buck’s feelings. For a guy who’s not usually great at ~the talking~, he seems to sense that Buck needs to hear him actually *say* things like that he trusts him, out loud. For Buck, someone who’s been told that he’s reckless and impulsive, not diligent, not reliable (and to be fair to Bobby, has been all those things at times, but is desperate to change that view of himself), to be told that he’s trusted - more than anyone else - with someone’s kid? That’s huge. And Eddie knew that he needed to hear that, he also knew that he needed to feel like part of something when Buck was depressed and hanging around at home after the truck bombing. And Eddie was the one who noticed Buck wasn’t around at the station. For Eddie, the fact that they “have each other’s backs” is so important, because, and it’s insane how this is not wishful thinking on the fandom’s part, he actually tells Shannon that she doesn’t have his back. So yeah, absolutely nobody is disputing that Eddie loves Buck.

And I’ve talked about how I believe that Eddie might be bi leaning towards more into men than women (his “not my type” and aunt pepa’s reaction to buck are the foundation for this theory), and his particular combination of upbringing, experience and location really messing with him admitting that to himself (Conservative religious culture, Texas, army, getting married young because of outside expectations). But many of the scenes we get from him could - FROM THE OUTSIDE - very well just show a guy who has a lot of love and respect (and occasionally some fond exasperation) for his best friend. Possibly more, but not in that active, pining way. Not like he’s truly aware of it, yet.

But Buck? He pretty much always looks at Eddie like he’s the best thing that has happened to him, ever, and he can’t believe his luck of getting to be around this man. The smile he constantly gives him, and - in seasons 2 and 3 - only him, is the actual “I want to sleep with you smile” from season 1 Buck. I don’t make the rules.

He constantly finds ways to help him out, reads up on things he knows Eddie is interested in or things that are for some reason something Eddie is dealing with (whether it’s baseball biographies or summer camp brochures), and absolutely always looks to him for approval anytime he does something well or remotely badass. Or even when he makes a joke. It’s almost like 95% of the stuff he does, he does so that Eddie will see.

He sees himself as part of Eddie’s family to the point of not feeling like he’s a guest at their house, he has proven he would actually die for Chris, and he spends much of his free time finding ways of making Chris, the most important person in Eddie’s life, happy. He shares in both the happy and the difficult parts of raising Chris, he gets involved in school problems, and he’s there for Eddie to talk through all the little things that come up when you’re a parent. Often times, with single parents, when the other parent isn’t around, the problem is that there’s nobody else in your life who shares the same love and enthusiasm or worry you have for your child. You could talk about everything relating to them for hours, but even the best meaning friends will at some point reach the limit of how interested they are. Not so with Buck.

But unlike Eddie, Buck is also aware, to a point, of how much he’s focused on Eddie. Where Eddie’s jealousy comes across as more spur-of-the-moment, not something he’s even aware of, Buck seems like.. he’s thought about how he feels about Eddie. Others definitely have. Maddie’s comment about his “man crush” aside, even a random christmas elf (long may she live) comments on it. Hen and Karen immediately agree Buck would invite Eddie, like, Karen knows about this even. Their reaction when Buck is acting irrational over how they might get Eddie out when he’s buried alive and most likely dead already is that reaction of “Oh fuck, this will break this person” that is usually reserved for the significant other or parent. Bobby definitely reacts to Buck in relation to Eddie the way a father would, carefully weighing being amused at how obvious he’s being, and concern over not wanting him to get hurt doing something stupid trying to save Eddie, or by falling for him when it might not be reciprocated. They all know that Buck’s a little (more than) smitten with Eddie. And Buck... of course he’s going to notice how his friends and family react. I think he’s been aware of it for a while and is constantly trying to navigate and balance this. 

Of course he hasn’t told his face about balancing anything at all yet, because look at that man’s face any time he looks at Eddie, look at that scene with the medal. He absolutely can’t help it. And sometimes it’s like he wants them to pick up on it - for example, pushing Maddie on the fact that he doesn’t consider himself a guest. And that’s completely understandable, sometimes you want people to pick up on something and maybe even comment on it (because their reaction reaffirms to you that maybe you’re not crazy) while also not wanting attention on that point. People are complicated like that. And Buck may be a himbo, but he’s complicated AF.

We get Buck being really weird about Eddie and Shannon in general - right off the bat. When Shannon shows up at the station and she and Eddie talk, Buck’s in the background and overhears that they’re sleeping together. He clearly struggles with this information, (and Chim possibly notices..) then he get’s real petty about them potentially getting married again (”Maybe you can get a discount”) - and he nopes out of the situation as quickly as he can - because he doesn’t want to risk saying anything snarky.

Then Chim and Buck go christmas tree shopping, and Chim comments on how Buck can’t let Eddie’s situation with Shannon go, and it’s true, he can’t stop himself. But when Eddie asks him for advice in front of the fountain (/metaphorical water penis as I like to call it), he’s suddenly all “I didn’t think it was my business” ... ok, sure, Buck. Then he basically tells Eddie to try and make it work with Shannon. In terms of character development, in a romance, this is the part where person A wants to be with person B but doesn’t think they have a chance, so makes the choice to try and settle for being their friend, which, heartbreakingly, involves pushing them into the arms of someone else.

Also, his kind of “oversharing” of Eddie’s situation with Ana to the rest of the team is, to me, a pretty clear indicator that the topic makes him uncomfortable and he’s trying a Ross Geller-I’m making Fajitas- “let’s show everyone how very completely normal I feel about this” approach, which.. it doesn’t.. work that well. And when does this ever work, it’s super easy to see through this, and it usually just serves to draw more attention to the fact that you’re uncomfortable with whatever is being discussed.

Buck also takes everything Eddie says to heart. Like, fucking takes it and will not let go of it. Half a season after Eddie tells him that he makes everything about himself, he breaks down telling Maddie he’s worried he’s making the situation with the old firefighter about himself again. During the kitchen scene (or “The actual how-to-guide of what to do when you thought the guy you have a crush on doesn’t reciprocate but then you have a fight and he really doesn’t handle being away from you so well so you kind of might as well see where being a little more openly flirty will get you”), Buck’s clearly thought about Eddie’s words from the grocery store fight, and he’s gonna call Eddie out. And maybe do other stuff.

Looking at what the writers are actually doing, to end the season, there’s the clawing at dirt of it all, Buck falling apart when Eddie’s buried alive. Buck being in almost all of Eddie’s memories when he’s close to dying. And Maddie’s comment about not wanting to set Josh up with Buck, which is innocent enough, but why throw that in on top of all of the above, if not because maybe what we’re actually looking at is that they’re setting up a sexuality crisis for Buck, and him realizing he’s maybe into Eddie, but Eddie not actually reciprocating (yet)? And say Buck is then somehow forcefully pushed to see the truth about how he feels, maybe by, i don’t know, coming across TK and/or Carlos on a call, and one of them asking him how long him and Eddie have been together? We might get Eddie with Ana, and a very long, drawn out process of Buck realizing what’s happening and trying to leave them alone, and Eddie being really confused about why Buck’s being like that. Then we would have two options (well, more, really, but these are two I like): 1) Eddie pushing Buck on that point and demanding an explanation and Buck just coming out with it because fuck it and sorry and please let me see Chris still 2) Buck’s sexuality crisis (or not crisis, if he’s always been pan/bi, which, look, nothing I’ve seen has disproven this theory) leading to him dating a guy and Eddie getting really jealous but not actually being aware of the fact what he feels is jealousy (because he doesn’t realize how he feels about Buck, see this whole essay you just read), and Buck being the one who confronts Eddie about why he’s being such a homophobic asshole about this, and Eddie straight up kissing him because he can’t not anymore.

OKAY. I have WAY too many thoughts about the mid-season finale. I'm apologizing in advance for the mad rambling that's about to come. And continue. In many posts. Making little to no sense.

Anyway.

Being a hoe for angst... damn, I got treated. And damn, I got treated angst... now I'm feeling angsty. A lot. A lot a lot.

I didn't really see Eddie quitting coming at all, to be honest. Kudos to the writers there. Even though it came as quite a shock... it's still pretty damn good and organic storytelling. They have built up the drifting apart of the team also as a result of shared and individual trauma very well thus far. Eddie “breaking out” by actually quitting the 118 seems like the first peak that may finally open up a conversation here.

A long overdue conversation.

Or five... hundred of them.

Because the lack of talking is the bane of most of it for the team, for the members of the team, particularly for Eddie and Buck.

Also, kudos for all the foreshadowing/callbacks, e.g. Eddie telling Buck that them falling out of touch isn't happening, just for it to happen. The parallels of Buck's and Eddie's recovery arc. The list continues and continues.

Also, blessed be all the metas and gifsets already out there pointing that out. Y'all are amaze-balls.

While it's painful to watch, I'm glad we actually see people being confronted with their traumas and that of their loved ones. As tough as it is, part of the process of healing is talking about it, accepting that things don't go linear in the healing process. That you have setbacks. Christopher dreams of his mom again. He is having panic over Eddie being in danger. Buck is facing some of his inner demons, dealing with his separation from Maddie and Chimney. Athena and Harry working through things, too, etc.

And I pray that Eddie finally takes the hint to find himself a therapist to click with. Coz my dude, you're so close to getting the point, and then take a sharp 180 every damn time.

You don't need another job. You need another therapist. A therapist at all.

While it's surely just a temporary measure for Eddie, I am aching to know how they are gonna tackle this whole issue. Carla basically spelled it out already: Being a firefighter is something Eddie did and does for himself. Thus, neglecting that as well as everything else he has, in favor of Christopher's wellbeing and/or comfort, is going to bite him in the perky ass. So damn much.

Not because I think it's wrong of him to take a break to sort things out with Christopher. I think it's great to see a father not just downplaying his son's trauma, doing whatever it takes to get him what he needs.

But it's a knee-jerk reaction in the end. In the course of 1 episode, Eddie decides to quit the 118. Which is more than a job. It's where his found family is. It's one of the few things he's ever decided for himself. Normally, he thinks things through more carefully, sometimes too carefully (see sticking it out with Ana. Also because of his feeling of obligation to have a “ready-made family” for his son despite not being ready for it with Ana. Coz she's not the right one). But with this, he goes straight away. He doesn't take time. He goes for it. Chop-chop.

Eddie doesn't know how to respond to Christopher's reaction and his fears regarding his father's wellbeing. But Eddie feels like he has to respond in some way, and the only thing he can come up with at that point is to quit the 118. To get out of the danger zone.

He is being triggered (operative word of especially this episode but also that whole season... I mean, how often did we hear that word spelled out this season, hmmmmm?). By that boy asking whether his dad is dead (which he isn't!). He is triggered by Chris being triggered and not knowing how to fix that. List goes on.

Because Eddie wants to fix things. Still, quitting permanently seems like such a huge step perhaps in the right direction (taking time to sort his mess after Ana left all those muffins in that kitchen. So many muffins...), but taking a wrong turn along the way. Because taking time off to search for solutions, not just going through the motions at the job, swallowing it down, that's good. That's the right thing to do.

But he also could have taken leave for a while. He could have taken off for some time, I bet Bobby would have had him covered. And I bet he knows that, too. Chim's doing it.

But Eddie seems set on punishing himself for failing his son. Because his old fear of not being good enough is back in full swing, as he expresses to Buck under the Christmas tree. Because he failed to have that relationship with Ana that he thinks made Christopher feel happy and safe. Because he got shot and Christopher was upset. Because he got panic attacks that his son got to see and deal with. Because he is not okay - and he needs to be okay to support his son.

Dude is spiraling so hard right now.

Eddie feels like he is failing Christopher, so he is seemingly also in part punishing himself for it. Because that job is important to him personally. It's more than a job. It's a calling. It's a privilege. It's a decision he made for himself. And he will give that up in a heartbeat, thinking that this will fix things for Christopher.

Spoiler alert (not really, but I'm feeling like it's gonna be just so): This is not how you're going to fix things, Eddie, my dear.

Because there is a crucial difference between responding to your child's needs and total personal self-neglect. Bobby warned him before (in relation to Shannon) that he doesn't have to lose everything before he allows himself to feel something etc. And I think that's what's happening here. He is giving up everything for his son. He neglects himself, he gives his last for his son, even that one thing aside from Christopher that he cherishes, this job.

But that's not the solution.

Because life is dangerous. That guy that got him triggered? He didn't get buried under a broken house (like that gingerbread house, hmmmmmm) while he was doing a dangerous job. He was going about his everyday life. Most of the calls are just that: People living their lives, getting caught up in sometimes strange situations. Which is not to say that firefighters have a less risky job. They do a very dangerous job. And yes, chances are higher for them to wind up hurt or dead. But I think there's a narrative undercurrent showing that Eddie is wrong by trying to find the solution in quitting this dangerous job.

Because again, life is dangerous. Life is hard. Buck and Christopher got caught in a tsunami while at the peer. He got shot responding to a call that had nothing to do with the sniper other than him having that uniform. And by quitting as a firefighter, Eddie is merely glossing over what's underneath: That he and Christopher have to have an honest conversation. About the traumas they share. About what they lost. About *why* Christopher is upset. Why it's *now* that he reacts that strongly to the potential of his father being in danger on the job. And what *other* possible solutions there are.

Eddie thinks he has to do it all alone - and that's just not true. And I think that may also be the grand Buddie sweetness in it all. Or part of it. Maybe Christopher finally gets to understand that Buck is there for him, not just in the event of Eddie's death but also living up to his promise to be there for him while Eddie is very much around. All of them talking about it... So. Much. Potential.

Makes me wonder whether they are going for a similar trajectory as we've seen for TK on Lone Star. That following an injury, he quits for a while, only to have that epiphany moment, telling him what he has to be and how to be it - and that he needs to be a first responder, that this is his calling. While I don't think that Eddie's solution is going for paramedic necessarily, I could very well see some variant of that trajectory for him.

More to the point, I can very well envision a scenario wherein Eddie e.g. sees the 118 working a job that's extremely dangerous. Maybe they are understaffed. Maybe TV is reporting. Eddie is watching at home, all nervous. Because he should be out there. He needs to be out there, but he can't. The more I think about it... maybe it really will be some variant of TK and Tommy - wherein Chris tells him that he needs to be out there, like Tommy's kids told her.

Bonus points if this involves Buck. ALL the bonus points if it's about Buck, and we get both the epiphany about the job and the Oh moment for Eddie.

Actually, here is an alternative thing for you to occupy your time with, and a question I have been meaning to ask you for a while. I have finished 911 finally! So I'm ready for the new season. And I wonder, realistically, what do you think the roadmap would be for a buddie endgame?

I absolutely see how their story has been framed and filmed in a lot of parallels to how a romantic storyline would be set out. But there has been no outright mention of either of them being bi - although the conversation about Maddy setting Buck up with whassisface was very casual and could very easily have been an example of canonically bi Buck - and they are both at the end of season 4 in 'relationships' with women.

So, in your estimation, what's the timeline? What's the transition? How do they go about this and how long does it take? I wanna know your thoughts 👀

okay yes i have lots of thoughts on this and it's actually one of my fave questions i get asked. I've always watched a lot of tv shows so I'm just estimating on what I've seen before and what I would personally do. IMO this love story is a slow burn. We only have four seasons so far and only three of those seasons have Eddie in them. This unsurprisingly got long so ill put it under the cut.

So I'll go by seasons bc to me its important to look at everything that has happened so far by seasons and by love interests and not as a whole. Its the best way i can form a timeline that I think would make the most sense and why

S1: So we don't get any hints at Buck being anything other than straight and I think this is because he was supposed to be. They hadn't planned for Eddie yet and they definitely hadn't planned for the chemistry Oliver and Ryan were gonna have. S1 Buck was this reckless kid who didn't take anything serious. He was definitely super immature. Then he meets Abby and he starts to get serious about his job and his love life. I'm not gonna say "Abby changed him" because she didnt. He saw the person he was and the person he was becoming and decided on that change himself.

S2: Eddie!!!! So we get introduced to this army medic turned firefighter in the least heterosexual way. Then Buck is angry because Eddie is hot and really good at his job. they work together and Eddie compliments Buck and now they're smiley bffs. Seriously wtf was all that? Anyway this is all sus bc from what ive seen before in other shows when a main love interest leaves and a new main character replaces them, that means something. JLH replaced Connie Britton as far as big name actress but i really believe Eddie replaced Abby as far as importance in Buck's life. Do i think they brought him in with the intentions of turning him into a LI? No but they sure fueled the narrative from the get go. I think they saw fans reactions and started testing the waters.

Moving on to LIs in this season. We find out Eddie has a kid and the mother is not in the picture (eddie made sure buck knew that right away). Then later on we find out he's technically still married. shannon comes back and we get Eddie finally getting to confront this head on. He tries to get his family back together for the sake of his son. Its big for Eddie's character bc all he does and all he's ever done is for his son. Then Shannon asks for a divorce then she dies bringing this arc to an abrupt end and leaving eddie heartbroken.

meanwhile Buck is still waiting for Abby. Then he finally accepts that shes not coming back and decides to move on. He goes right back to being "Buck 1.0" with Taylor and feels bad about himself because that really isnt him anymore. He wants a real relationship. So then Ali calls and asks him on an actual date and he agrees. This is his first try at a relationship after a heartbreak. in tv these don't usually work out but are used to develop the main character's growth. We don't really see much of her but she breaks up with him so.

S3: This is Eddie finally dealing with his feelings/guilt season. This is also the season I think we really see how important Buck is to the Diaz boys. S2 had cute buckley-diaz family moments but those could still be interpreted as a best friend and his best friend's kid. This season though... after the tsunamic episode was when i really started to fully believe buddie was going canon. This season is solidifying their bond not only as Buck and Eddie but as Buck Eddie and Christpher. As I'm writing this I realized neither of them really has a love interest in this season do they? Ana is introduced but then is clearly presented as definitely NOT the right choice for eddie and especially for Chris. Then they counter that with Buck helping Eddie build a skateboard for Chris that he can use as opposed to Ana's ablest remarks about how he can't do it so just move on to something else. Then we get Buck's reaction in Eddie Begins. Buck has seen his team his friends his family get hurt on the job before but he has never reacted the way he did when it was Eddie in danger. Again solidifying just how much these two mean to each other. Don't even get me started on this season being when Eddie changes his will offscreen. Anyway we get Abby back and Buck finally gets the closure from that relationship that he needs to move forward into a serious relationship.

Now S4: jfc s4....IMO this is the only logical season to get the ball rolling on Buddie and they sure did that with 4x14 despite everything else. So i never thought they would be the first serious relationship for each other after the heart break theyve both experienced. It wouldn't be fair to their character developments. Buck tries dating Veronica and that clearly doesnt work but we know hes now open to dating again. We get Buck Begins where we see why Buck is the dare devil he is. The only way he got his parents attention as a kid was to put himself in danger. They bring back taylor and how to they ultimately get together after she friendzones him? She thinks hes in danger and suddenly wants him. As much as i hate it this is really gonna be a relationship where Buck finally stands up for himself and sees his own worth and realizes he deserves more. He deserves someone who sees him and loves him for who he is. He deserves to be chosen, something Abby Ali his parents dont do and what i think taylor wont end up doing. I feel like shes gonna choose her career over him. Maybe not in a "I'm breaking up with you" way but maybe she takes a new job and want to do LD (hes tried that twice and it didnt work for him. hes not gonna want that) or she could ask him to go with her but he wont. His family is in LA. His job is in LA. Eddie and Chris are in LA and he won't leave them. Then we have Eddie finally deciding to move on and try dating again so they bring back ana. To me it's not gonna work out so I'm not bothered at all lmao. It's interesting that they'd choose her though. Someone we already know Eddie doesn't trust with his son. There's also more buckley-diaz family scenes of them being coparents. The hildy episode, Chris running to Buck when hes mad at eddie, Buck being the one to tell Chris Eddie got hurt, then Buck staying with Chris and taking on the guardian role without him even knowing just how much that role really does belong to him. He didn't do it out of obligation. He didn't do it because he was asked to. He did it because he thought it would be best for Chris. Finally to 4x14. This is by far the biggest "Oh shit this is it. This is the beginning of buddie". We find out Eddie changed his will a year ago and has just been sitting on this info. I think Eddie knew back then what it meant but he wasn't in the right mindset to accept what it means so he kept it to himself. I think he finally started allowing himself to go there during treasure hunt. The man was jealous yall. Carla coming back and her comment about doing whats best for him and not chris is his oh shit moment. I think he wouldve broken up with Ana a few days after that if he had the time lol. He gets caught up in the mother/son sl then this poor mf gets shot by a sniper. The way that whole scene was filmed btw was not in a bff way. That was a lover watching his beloved almost die in front of him. Buck again puts himself down and Eddie decides this is the moment. He needs Buck to see how important he is. He wants buck to know how loved he is. So he sits there talking himself up to it and finally lets Buck know just how big of a part he is in Eddie's family. Buck's previous scene is him saying he wants someone who wants him back then here is Eddie saying he needs him...Chris needs him. wtf.

So with S5: I think Eddie knows and Buck has a feeling but he's not sure so what i would do is spend s5 with Eddie basically showing Buck his feelings but not exactly getting in the way of Buck's new relationship because Buck has to be the one to make that choice. Id also have chris feeling the different shift with buck having a gf like he did with Eddie. This newfound info wasnt just dropped on us for a "Aww so sweet" moment. This will business is gonna be a part of a bigger storyline. I'm hoping its with Eddie's family during maybe 5b.

So what I think would be the best timeline for canon buddie is 5a eddie already having either broken up with ana or is gonna break up with her, Buck choosing himself and ending things with Taylor by midseason finale, them bringing in Eddie's family in 5b and maybe then being when Eddie confesses his feelings for Buck. Then 6a we could get them walking on egg shells around each other not really knowing what to do bc this is all so new for both of them. This could bring just the right amount of comedy and angst especially them awkward and flustered around each other at work. A big blowup can happen between them for added angst (maybe an arguement before one of them or both of them is put in danger) then a midseason finale kiss. Then trying to find the balance between their personal relationship and their work relationship during 6b.

I don't know how long Fox shows last but procedurals can last a long time. I'm not sure thats gonna be the case for 911 especially with all the main cast staying that long so i think this would give us at least a whole season (S7) of canon buddie.

As far as then being presented as straight, there's been more seeds planted about buck being bi. A few i can remember off the top of my head: all of 2x1 lmao, maddie's comment about bucks boy crush on eddie, buck hinting at thinking eddie is cute when he thinks maddie is talking about him, the christmas elf, the comments on the instagram livestream, idk if youve watched it or not but TK's comment to Buck in the crossover episode, and like you mentioned Maddie's casual comment about setting him up with Josh. All we really know about Eddie's love life is he married Shannon when they were young and is trying with Ana so it could turn into a whole storyline for him.

Is he talking to Taylor here? I don't think so. My guess is that Taylor's not even there yet. I feel like this scene is in Bobby and Athena's house. They probably have a small gathering there to celebrate the success of their call. My theory about the "great" line is, Eddie comes to Buck to where he's standing and invited him to his house to finally meet Ana for dinner or whatever. Buck of course agree and he felt like uncomfortable ( I have no proof to back up his discomfort but the way how he looks when he said "great" doesn't look or sound like he's excited or happy) then Eddie is glad Buck agrees and leave him to meet the other people in the area. That moment is when he said "great" and then the doorbell rings signaling Taylor's arrival.

Then here it is, Buck and Taylor finally talking and even said they make a great team.

But what makes Eddie decides to finally introduce Buck to Ana after more than 3 months of dating?

Again, my theory about this came from a pattern of events that happened from the previous episodes. Eddie's impulsive decisions has something to do with Buck's actions. Here's why.

Taylor Kelly was first introduced in 2x06 Dosed episode. Buck clearly show interest on Taylor after rescuing her on that chopper. It was also clear he show his interest when Taylor visited the firehouse for a documentary. Everybody was there to witness, including Eddie.

Shannon was first introduced in 2x07 Haunted episode through Carla's insistence. Carla talked sense to Eddie that Christopher needs his mother though Eddie made it pretty clear he doesn't want Shannon back in his life but because of Carla and the school, he finally gave in and invited Shan to his house. After the argument, he considered reconciling with his wife after the school visit and kissed her. Though hesitant at first, he kissed her again like kissing all his pain away.

Buck jumps back to the dating scene in 2x08 Buck Actually episode. He had sex with Taylor in a public restroom. He even went as far as talking about it to the 118 especially with Bobby. Eddie was there and he heard it. Also, during the episode, Ali's been calling Buck but was hesitant at first. Closing the episode, he finally agreed to meet Ali in a shop. That's when they started dating.

It is now known to everyone that Buck is dating Ali. This is when Eddie finally had sex with his wife in 2x10 Merry Ex-mas episode. After having sex and arguments, Eddie invited Buck instead to join him and Christopher to visit Santa. Buck loves to cry about the military surprised their family videos, Eddie realizes that he fully needs Shannon for Christopher.

Buck and Ali's relationship continues to grow (but there wasn't any build up) Buck finally found an apartment for himself so Ali can stay whenever she wants. Eddie and Shannon's relationship reconciled but it feels like they're both walking on eggshells. The only push that Eddie needs is that when Shannon though she's pregnant but was false alarm. She felt like Eddie looked at her as Chris' mom but not his wife anymore and so she wanted file a divorce and eventually died in 2x17 Careful what you wish for episode.

In 2x18, Ali left Buck. She loves him yes, but she can't handle Buck's job anymore after seeing him almost died.

Season 3 both Buck and Eddie are single. Hmm suspicious.

In Season 4 (LS's crossover episode) Buck was caught staring to Marjan by Hen and Eddie confirmed it by saying "you're staring" looking disappointed. Disappointed Eddie joins Judd, Paul and Marjan instead of his partner. He was intrigued why Buck was staring at her and decides to follows her on Insta. He talks about Buck helping him build the skateboard (It was Buck's idea anyway) and not-so defending him that he's harmless but mostly. It was bordering defending but clearing him while staring at Marjan to get a reaction from her. And later on asked her to follow back Buck in Insta. A mission accomplished for Eddie.

In 4x06, Buck announced the software update to Buck 3.0 - Kinder and Gentler version of himself. It was also his declaration of moving on from the past and starts to look for his future because he was tired of looking behind his shoulder. Eddie processed all the new information and even said that Buck should allow to give himself some time to process. An advice that he's been doing to himself, allowing some time to mourn more. STUCK. Eddie met Ana again. He talked about it to Buck but nothing came out of their conversation. He almost forgot about it when Buck's bratty attitude cornered him in front of his team mates about Ana's love languages (Like as if Eddie knows, right?) Hen, Chim and Bobby interrogates him about her. It was then implied that Eddie has no plans of dating Ana but it was Bobby that pushed him to go back out there to find something real. So Eddie dates Ana in an episode called JINX.

After learning Eddie's date (an implied scenario) Buck let himself back to the market as well in 4x07 and dated Veronica. It ended up in a disaster. He talks about it to Eddie even if the date didn't end well. Information is key.

After learning of Buck's back to dating again, Eddie dates Ana again, in her house. A Math date which he set an alarm for. Eddie did even say she's a terrible Math teacher but a great cook and an amazing woman. Just like a female version of someone. Buck is terrible at Math, can cook and obviously an amazing guy. Buck asked Eddie how was the date and he answered without looking his eye that she taught her MATH. It was an intentional slap to Buck's lack of Math knowledge. Why mention Math? I will never understand. Also, Taylor Kelly is back again. Covering at the same time the 118 attending the call. Buck was with Taylor most of the 6-hour waiting call while the 118 we're almost together. An implication that everyone knows including Eddie that Buck is with Taylor talking to her the whole damn time. So that night an impulse decision was made, he tells Chris that he's seeing someone. Christopher didn't take the news right and went straight to Buck's. Since they didn't show the scene where Eddie picks Chris to Buck's house where most probably he learned that Buck just came from a double date with Taylor and Albert with Veronica, and after learning Taylor called Buck to ask for a miracle, another impulse decision Eddie has made, he let Ana introduce her to his son too soon..

While Buck and Taylor continues to be friends, Eddie and Ana's relationship continues after 3 months of dating as seen by the time jump in 4x10 Parenthood episode.

As you can see, everything that Buck does first, it affects Eddie... In a very SUBTLE WAY. Another perfect example was the lawsuit. Buck's lawyer told Buck to stop communicating to the 118 (including Eddie) until the arbitration. The none contact triggered Eddie's past from Shannon. It was an implication that he put Buck in Shannon's position. The none contact has seen Eddie in an instant downward spiral. His impulsive decisions and constipated emotions led him to jail and almost kill someone in an underground fight club. This is the same person who will do everything for his SON, fyi.

So what I'm trying to say again here is, after the episodes 4x11 and 4x12 where most probably a Buck/Taylor centric episodes, Eddie's gonna make an impulse decision again and invite Buck to finally meet Ana to his house. And Buck, most probably bring Taylor with him. We'll see about that.

You know without a shadow of a doubt that when it comes to playing games with each other, you and Kenma can get really competitive. So much so that when you end up playing on opposite teams, whoever loses throws a huge hissy fit afterwards. Lucky, that usually results in the winner giving kisses and cuddles to the loser, so it really was a win win situation no matter what.

However, you and Kenma have a nasty habit of making bets. Sometimes, the bets don't even make sense or relate to whatever game it is you're both playing. And the stakes of those bets are even more ridiculous. Like, the bet will be, "I bet I can grab more coins than you by the time the rounds over," and the punishment is, "If I win, you have to act like a dog for a whole hour." Just a bunch of random bullshit. But it's fun random bullshit, so you guys never questioned it before. 

Kuroo most definitely finds it a little weird when he overhears your conversations. Like you'll wager, "If my skin wins the skin comp, then you have to wear a dress for your next practice." It honestly concerns him sometimes, but he never says anything because it was always funny when Kenma would have to come in some weird outfits during practice.

But most of your real disputes and "arguments'' come from whenever you guys argue who the best character in a game is. Here is a little scenario that I believe would happen: (and apologizes for using Overwatch as the example, its a good game okay?)

"Damn, someone already took Widowmaker." You huff. Kenma's face distorts with disgust. "Widowmaker, seriously? Ana is definitely the best sniper." You stop and slowly turn around, looking over at Kenma. "Are you serious? There are only 4 snipers in the whole game and you wanna pick Ana? She does, like, no damage dude."

"Well, neither does Widow unless you can actually land a shot." He looks over at you with unamused eyes. "Oh shut up! Not like you're much better at aiming, Mr. D.Va main!" You and Kenma both knew where this conversation was gonna end up, but the heat of the moment always prevented either of you from backing down. "D.Va is the best damn tank in this game and you know it! And unlike you, Mercy main, I can actually defend myself and fight instead of hiding behind all the strong players."

"Without my healing and power boosts, you'd be dead so many times that it's uncountable. My healing keeps you from losing the payload you arrogant prick." Those kinds of insulting nicknames were commonplace in both of your vocabulary's at this point, so it didn't really hurt him.

Nonetheless, a hush falls over the two of you, neither of you looking at one another. After what maybe be an hour of you two playing games in silence, you sigh softly and turn to him. You knew he could be stubborn sometimes, and so can you, but you knew he wasn't going to be the one to bring it up again after it seemed like the issue had been dropped.

You stand up from your chair and walk over to where he was sitting in his own chair, leaning down and wrapping your arms around his neck from behind. "We good?" You ask softly, just like you have every other time something like this happens. Kenma nods, a faint smile on his lips. "We're good." And no more needed to be said.

Because despite your differences when it comes to something small like video games, both of you knew that your little quarrels were nothing to actually get mad about and hate each other over.

Many people imagine their dream person or think of the person they want to date or marry from a young age. Y/N remembered going to sleepovers and her friends talking about how they wanted a boyfriend with blue eyes and blonde hair or brown hair and brown eyes. But when Y/N's turn came around she always said the same thing "I don't care what they look like as long as they are the right person for me." And that's when the game would end. Because twelve year olds could not fathom that everyone had their person and at some point they'd meet and everything would work out. Her mindset was set as growing up her mom would always tell her the same story. When I met your dad I just knew she'd say.

Tito had dated his fair share of girls. Blonde, brown haired, a red head, and a spontaneous colored haired girl here and there. But none caught his attention. Not that they weren't pretty or anything but Tito was not really one to date and dump. He liked forming connections and really getting to know them. But being a hockey player was not really quite helpful. They'd be invited to a party here and there and of course Mat begged Tito to go with him because he needed a wingman and Tito could not really say no to his best friend.

Y/N had believed she had met her special person her second year into college. A tall lanky boy with brown hair. They had both met in the library when they reached for the same book. Might seem cheesy but she took it as a hint. After "considently" bumping into eachother in the library many more times he had asked her out. Most of their dates were pretty basic just like her. Maybe that's why she enjoyed them so much. Two years. Two years is how long she dated him for. But sadly people fall out of love. She had heard about that happening only in movies. Never really thinking that it could happen to her. But then she heard some of the worst words anyone could ever hear. "I don't love you anymore." 

Her heart was sad. Her first real relationship. Who she believed was the one. But she understood. This wasn't her fairytale. But she was broken. Her still being in love. Thoughts invading her mind. What did she do wrong? What could she have done better? So after that it took her time to open up again, to bring those walls down to handsome looking strangers. She wasn't one just to date for fun. So she rarely did bring them down. Sometimes she'd sit in her dark room late at night letting her thoughts consume her. How maybe she'd never find the one, how she was unlovable, how she had way too high of expectations to believe there was someone for everyone.

Every Monday morning Y/N would go to the same coffee shop and get the same order, a medium coffee with sugar and cream. To her it was a nice way to start the week. She had been doing it since she moved to Brooklyn in 2016. 

Tito had been begging Mat to go with him to this coffee shop in Brooklyn that apparently had great coffee. Tito was what you could call a food and drinks connoisseur. Having cooked many times for his teammates and best friend.

" Come on Mat, Grace and Anders said it the best they've had and they've lived here much longer than us. Plus you owe me for getting you that girls number last week, don't forget to call her." Tito wasn't one to get acquainted with Mat's hookups but he did feel bad when the next morning Mat was kicking them out before sunrise.

Mat finally agreed and here they were on a Monday morning way too early for Mat's liking for a straight black coffee that was "rich in flavor" according to Tito. It was quite busy for it being Monday but they patiently waited in line.

Y/N gathered her stuff and exited the crowded coffee shop, careful not to bump into anyone and headed her way to work.

After waiting for about fifteen minutes they ordered two medium coffees and headed out to the busy New York streets.

She had walked about ten minutes away from the coffee shop before she realized that she forgot her phone. Y/N checked her watch and noticed that if she was gonna make it on time she had only five minutes to retrieve her phone. So she quickly but carefully dogged through people as she made her way back to the coffee shop.

Tito and Mat were casually walking back to the car having parked it a few blocks down when they saw someone running their way. Tito wasn't paying much attention due to savoring his cup of coffee which to him was totally worth the twenty minute drive and six dollars.

"Dude she's hot." Mat turned around and checked out the girl that somewhat seemed like she was running away from something instead of for something. 

"Mat that's gross. You literally didn't even see her face and are labelling her hot just by seeing her ass, I understand why you need a wingman now."

"Hey!" Mat slapped his best friend's shoulder as Tito drank his coffee trying to stifle a laugh (which he failed) since Mathew knew it was true.

Y/N had heard it many times from her friends, family, and probably even a few strangers. It was time to get a date. She wasn't desperate to really get anywhere. She was a 22 year old living in one of the most populated states in the country. She has time right? Deep down she knew that if she didn't get out there her person would probably not come by themselves. Which brings her to present day staring at her  phone screen at 1am. Earlier in the day Y/N's friend texted her that she knew someone who deemed specific qualities the young romantic wanted.

Y/N met Grace in the coffee shop. She had come in a little bit later due to having the day off and sleeping in. Grace and Ruby sat in one of the corners of the small spaced coffee shop and Y/N sat next to them trying to stay in her own space but finding it quite difficult when there was a cute baby trying to get her attention a few feet away. After Grace apologizing for invading her space and Y/N saying it was really no problem they continued to meet in the coffee shop every once in a while. And a friendship blossomed later having exchanged numbers.

Grace was great. She listened to Y/N's tall tales of soulmates and love and she even told her about how she found her love (which she referred to as anders, y/n never having met him before) and how they had a beautiful baby girl together. She knew Y/N wanted someone who was sweet and kind and liked forming deeper connections so when she had an encounter with Tito she knew she should text her.

It was a late Friday night and the boys were celebrating a win in a rowdy club somewhere in downtown Brooklyn. The single guys trying to get the attention of some girls by buying them drinks. Grace had been standing at the bar with some of the other girls when she saw that Tito sat alone at the booth that occupied their stuff.

"Seems like our stuff doesn't really need a bodyguard, why aren't you out there buying a girl a drink or dancing?" She spoke somewhat loudly due to the pounding music and shouting of people.

"Not really my thing." He smiled softly back at his captain's wife. Tito was not fond of clubs or bars. He felt as though it was way too loud to actually have a proper conversation with someone. That's when it clicked. Of all the times the team had gone out not once had Tito really smiled or joked around with a girl. Grace connected the dots and decided to text Y/N in the morning.

A simple message was displayed across Y/N's screen. Simply reading "hey i know dates aren't your thing but i know someone who i think you might like."

After sleeping on it for quite a few more hours than she needed to, she decided to bite the bullet and text Grace back. "Why the hell not." 

Not even two minutes later Y/N's phone dinged indicating a response. "Perfect, I'll let him know."

There she sat on her bed over thinking if this was really a good idea.

Tito was way over his head. Grace had texted him that she knew of a girl who was quite exactly Tito's type. At least she loosely stated it that way. He had agreed only on the condition that Mat was having a girl over later tonight and he wanted to be as far away from that as possible since they did have pretty thin walls. So exactly five hours later here he stood outside the infamous coffee shop which held the secret ingredient to the best coffee he had. Grace didn't tell him much other than her hair color which was quite difficult to find in New York since every once in a while a sea of same colored haired girls would come by. He waited outside deeming it more on the gentlemenier side. Whatever that meant. Ten minutes later wrapping his coat on tighter and checking his watch for what seemed to be the five time. Maybe she stood him up. I mean he didn't have too many redeeming qualities. I mean hell he lived in New York and didn't like clubs, parties, and sometimes hated big crowds which were what seemed to be a big part of where he lived. Rocking on the back of his heels he decided to wait a bit longer thinking that hopefully she was just running late.

Indeed she had been running quite late. Her cousin had pleaded her to take care of her baby because she had some errands to run. She didn't mind at all since she did in fact love babies. But when four thirty rolled around and still no sign of her cousin she began to worry. She didn't have this mystery dudes number (which Grace referred to him as Anthony) so she couldn't really text him that she was gonna be a bit late. She really hoped he would wait because all throughout the day her excitement grew more and more. Finally five rolled around and Y/N quickly handed off the baby and changed into something more date worthy rushing out the door in the cold breeze of the afternoon. She rushed to the coffee shop and as she arrived she could see a tall stranger looking down at the ground presumably freezing since it was pretty cold. She dodged a few people hoping that this was indeed her date.

"Hi uhm are you Anthony." She spoke up and she stood awkwardly pulling the sleeves of her sweaters. "Gosh please be Anthony or im just gonna look like an idiot." She whispered.

Tito turned around at a soft voice and was faced with one of the most beautiful girls he had ever seen. Her baby hairs were sticking out and her nose and cheeks were red from the cold, she seemed to be somewhat out of breath.

Y/N looked up and caught sight of some of the most memorizing eyes she had ever seen. This handsome stranger who she presumed  as Anthony had amazing features.

Tito cleared his throat and reached out his hand. "Hi uhm yeah im Anthony but you can call me Tito, or at least that's what my friends call me." He began to ramble.

"Nice to meet you im y/n." They shook hands and a soft electric shock was felt between the two. They both glanced up and she knew it was too soon to tell since she had just met him but she felt an extra special connection with him.
