Hey, first of all, I really love your work!

I was reading some of the news stuff and I wondered if Peach ever gets a quiet contented moment for herself and what that looks like. And maybe for the extra challenge, we’re there ever moments during her training or adventures like that? Five minutes where she was just able to breathe?

Oh she gets them, it’s whether or not she takes them.

Peach pre Hisui is tightly wound, a workaholic, always stay busy so the stress and the panic doesn’t settle in. If she keeps working and training then nothing bad can go wrong. Her “down time” was spent painting for days on end in secret, and while she found joy in it, she also sold them under a pen name for cash so the labs can get needed upgrades and items. There was always a stressful background hum of needing to do well, to make money to help others. On the rare moments she got back then to relax, it was brief but pleasant. Fleeting moments where she could sit and take a breath, try to focus on the good for just one minute.

The readers of the current comic and various story lines get to watch her learn how to relax during Hisui in particular, it’s a huge part of her growth, and it’s all thanks to Rei, the boy who just happens to be there when she is, and destined to intercept her grouchy stressed out life. He shows her how to relax and enjoy more. The hisui arc is SO important to her unwinding, learning not to be a control freak, not to get hung up on her rage.

She gets plenty of opportunity to relax despite being thrown around in the past, and it’s that endless struggle to survive and win that makes her see that in fact the joys matter, they never did until she gets close to losing them all. She learns to laugh at jokes more, Rei gets her dancing even when she can’t much, but he teaches her what he can. They start to have inside jokes, start to laugh together. Their “training” turns into a more jovial activity, where both parts are actually having more fun than they’ve had in a long time. There’s plenty of moments where she can accept that sometimes you can sit back and relax. It’s ok to not always be ‘on’. Rei is her change, a teenager with no bad vibes what so ever, she needs him way more than he realises.

So when she's finally home and dry, with the people she thought she'd never see again, her loved ones, human and pokemon alike, Peach is a changed woman. Grey has never seen her demand a day off, but she's activly picking her schedule and allowing for time out (unheard of) and in that down time she's busy sure, but busy with things that make her smile, even takes a nap in the sun sometimes, or gets five minutes to stitch in peace for the hell of it. Plum will watch this once stoic and often serious woman crack more jokes, dance with her, she can kind of do that now??? They get to all see this person finally step back and do things for herself in a way that gives her time to rest and come back to do her job way better.

It's a huge notable change, she's much more fun, way more open, with a softer heart, and a calmer disposition. Once you fight a god, can you really be stressed out by the small stuff? She sure can't.

she even kicks a ball around with the oddish now, takes joy rides on Boa just for the fun of it, goes and wades around in the mud with donphan, is a sucker for taking a day to bake something she really likes, bonus everyone else gets to enjoy it. For a non traditional looking woman, her hobbies do slip into quite traditional areas, gardening, baking, sewing, art, and sport.

i love when characters get angry when they're frightened. shelter dog characters. i love when they bite, not able to tell the difference between a hand that feeds and a hand that strikes. there is no difference. a hand is a hand is a fist. i love characters that are deemed unadoptable. unlovable.

Kora made a new sound/call today and I'm going to try to record it, but I was so surprised

She has a somewhat standard reproitare of calls - the call for me, for my mom, for anyone, her "just chatting" sound, the chirps she shares with the sparrows, her annoyed chirps, etc. Everything we've heard for years.

And then there we are, I'm talking with my dad, and after trying to get our attention with the usual sounds Kora suddenly let's out a "chee-CHOOOO". I turned to stare at her and I'm like Kora wth where did you learn that? And she goes chee-CHOOOO again, then her regular "pay attention to me" chirping.

I go back to talking with my dad and she goes back to "chee-CHOOO" and I know its gonna become part of her list bc I kept giving her attention lol but I have NEVER hear her - or any canary - make a sound like that! It sounded more like she was was mimicking someone saying "chee-CHOOO" rather than a bird sound!

*hitting you with a stick* no benoit blanc movies should not interact. they should not lead up to something. you need to detox from the marvel/sherlock bbc poisoning. they should be completely independent movies (maybe w some cameos/little references for fun) and go on for as long as there are stories rian johnson wants to tell in this universe. i do not want an overarching plot i do not want a team up i dont want a benoit-focused prequel i want some good old fashioned episodic murder mysteries that have nothing to do with each other!!!!!!!!!!! also rian johnson has literally said he's not gonna do a prequel and he wants the movies to all stand on their own

addendum 1: by "marvel/sherlock bbc poisoning" i dont mean that those caused this over-serialization, but i think they are partially responsible for why audiences are expecting it. learn to engage w murder mysteries on the genre's own terms

rewatching Avatar is so weird because Sokka is literally the only thing keeping them alive and fed. He constantly is like,

'guys we're out of supplies/ we need to stop/ we're attracting too much attention with the flying bison we should walk' etc.

Like in the ´The Storm' when they're completely out of money and supplies the one to get a job in hopes of making money (he never actually gets paid, the world hates him) is Sokka.

In 'The Waterbending Scroll,' it's Sokka who's concerned about their lack of supplies when Aang sends them in a wave down the river, and is making sure they're careful with their spendibg when in town shopping.

He's also seen to catch fish and gather nuts (I know more often than not he fails to catch things on screen but it's implied he's the one that does most of the hunting and gathering)

It's like- Aang totally would have starved to death or gotten completely off track with often they're completely out of food and money

so my younger cousin is flying in to visit from brazil on sunday, and will be staying here for like, the entirety of july. which, don't get me wrong, is super cool! i love the kid! but it felt like a super weird move, considering his parents are the SUPER strict and borderline helicopter parents. even the smallest prank/roughousing with him/his little sister would lead to a strict talking to from his parents, he couldn't ever do anything without their clear permission, that sort of stuff. so letting him fly at alone at 16 to a whole different country and stay there for a whole month seemed WILDLY out of character. additionally, it just felt like a super last-minute trip. it's not like we have any plans to do when he gets here, and the flight itself and stuff only got booked like, midway through june.

and i was talking to my mom about it, kind of trying to nudge some answers out of her, and after a while she went, "yeah, i think they're sending him over here to get away for his boyfriend. see if the distance breaks them off." which, first of all, surprised me because last i checked, they didn't KNOW he had a boyfriend. literally everyone in the family did EXCEPT for them because while that entire side of the family being semi-conservative, his parents (mostly his dad) are EXTREMELY old-fashioned. so clearly something already went wrong. and considering the only reason the rest of the family knew is because one person found out and it spread like wildfire, i have a sneaking suspicion he wasn't the one to tell them, either.

and second of all. they're sending him HERE. to try to make him forget his homosexuality. i couldn't do anything but just wordlessly gesture to the multiple pride flags scattered around my room, then to myself, because really? he has like two other cousins in the us and they're sending him to me? honey i am about to introduce this kid to queer scenes you have never even heard of. he'll be returning home with labels only shrimp can perceive
