why is this edited for commercial breaks?!?

this was always designed to be a disney+ show, so why do major sequences end with a fade-to-black and flash-forward when the next one begins? this is not how (successful) nonlinear narratives work and it just comes across as lazy writing for a medium not beholden to network programming.

obviously, it’s easy to critique stuff and say “what i would do if i were in charge” but i had thought? hoped? envisioned? a script helmed by riordan himself would at least be irreverently whimsical!

it’s almost like that was the expectation set by the tone of source material—imagine that! so how can it end up so self-serious and “epic” that it literally looks like a bleakly color-graded marvel flick???

i can’t tell if this is the fault of the show-runner, director, or editor.

i’ll blame riordan/disney+ since it just feels right.

I do love a lot of aspects of Ender's Game. But since I find the Wiggins all pretty off-putting, since Orson Scott Card is such a frothing homophobe he makes JKR look progressive by comparison, and since there are some eugenicist leanings to the series that I don't love, I'm going to pass. Life's too short to read books one doesn't enjoy.
