Knights of the Round Table
A selection of my random faves, ft. Kay and Bedivere gossiping about the new recruits, Dinadan and Palomides debating the point of courtly love, the Orkney brothers (Gareth, Gaheris, Agravaine mid-curse, and Gawain) and Lancelot and Galehaut putting the ro in bromance

I feel like you can do something really cool with this imagery.
"The Crowned Serpent of Logres" sounds like a really cool title. And there's some interesting heraldry to go with it.

Galehaut about Lancelot: He is the greatest, most intelligent man I have ever known.
Arthur: That says more about you than it does him.

Sir Lancelot du Lac
Behold, the knight of the lake loved by men and women
Prince of the Joyous Guard, knight of the Round Table
His hostile and brutal tendencies can never be forgiven
During a sparring match, Guinevere lost her inhibition
For the knight in shining armor whose pride was damnable
Behold, the knight of the lake loved by men and women
The Kingdom of Camelot was once whole and Christain
An affair and slain noblemen made the kingdom unstable
His hostile and brutal tendencies can never be forgiven
Sir Galehaut was surrounded by corpses and crimson
He ended the battle for Lancelot for like all men, he was fallible
Behold, the knight of the lake loved by men and women
Lancelot attacked old compatriotes with deadly precision
Praying with bloodied hands for absolution and a friendly face
His hostile and brutal tendencies can never be forgiven
Dead yet immortalized in the eyes of France and Britain
The world knows about his love, ambition, and betrayal
Behold, the knight of the lake loved by men and women
His hostile and brutal tendencies can never be forgiven

you ever think about how lancelot like chronically kills the people he loves? not always in a direct and literal sense but baaad stuff happens (or almost happens) to the people he cares about usually directly because of him
Gawain's obvious with the red-hilted sowrd prophesy and all but honestly that blade could've just said 'Sir Launcelot will kill those he loves most" and still been right on the money.
Galehuant (and one of the Elaine's) dies of grief over lancelot
Guinevere almost gets burned at the stake because of her affair with lancelot and him subsequently not taking her with him when he fled
Galahad gives himself up to the grail quest (something lancelot can't do) so completely it takes him (this is on shaky ground but let me have my moment)
Lancelot kills Gareth in blind rage
lancelot mortally wounds Gawain
Lancelot through his affair and killing half the round table in one go sets the stage for Mordred's usurpation and Arthur's death
Loving him is dangerous
Being loved by him is dangerous

not at all what I normally post, but I just have to talk about this book. As an amateur Arthurian nerd who is slightly out of practice, this book was amazing. Now granted, the King Arthur Brainrot has been on the downlow for a bit for me, but safe to say I'm back into it. I picked it up on a whim and finished it in record time (I don't have the time/energy to read like I used to) so I know it's good. It's so refreshing to read something Arthurian by someone who gets it??? Like.... so much good stuff here. we have:
Kay centric narrative (!!!)
Historical accuracy for the 6th century! (mentions of no plate armor, accurate weapons, place names, romans, saxons, etc)
Galehaut (who I didn't even know existed but am now obsessed with. what do you mean he acted like a romantic rival to Gwenhwyfar??? (as her name is spelled in the book))
on that subject, queer Lancelot
Warrior King Arthur (who swears like a sailor and is depicted in a unique, almost negative light)
Glastonbury Tor as a central location (yes I know he was "buried" at the abbey but the tor is so iconic)
calling the sword from the lake Caliburn rather than Excalibur
Neutral Morgan le Fey/Morgana figure (sorta net positive I guess)
Christopher Marlowe is here
probably more stuff I'm forgetting tbh
anyways please someone go read this book. It's very good I promise. Especially if you're an Arthurian nerd. You can tell the author had all of this knowledge and decided to write about it, rather than an author who decided to write about an Arthurian topic then researched it if that makes sense.

Look me in the eyes and tell me this song isn't Taliesin delivering a prophecy about the downfall of the order and the events that lead to the battle of Camlann:
'I see a song of past romance' - Guinevere's love for Arthur turning into love for Lancelot
'I see the sacrifice of men' - Merlin litterly knowing because of his future vision that Vivian would seal him away if he pursued her and eventually teach her magic, his sacrifice for fleeting affection
'I see portrayals of betrayal' - both Lancelot and Guinevere betraying Arthur's trust, also applies to Mordred betraying his uncle by taking his throne
'And a brother's final stand' - I suppose when Kay kills Loholt who's Arthur's kid? I honestly didn't know what to put for this one
'I see you on the brink of death / I see you draw your final breath' - Arthur getting fatally wounded in the Battle of Camlann
'I see a man who gets to make it home alive' - he gets taken to Avalon to be healed
'But it's no longer you' - not only is he a changed man (not just the PTSD) but he's also alone, his wife is gone, his children are dead, his loyal (except for Lancelot and Mordred) knights who where practically his brothers are dead, and his only mentor is sealed away due to giving in to blind love

Looking to Arthur for love advice is really a lost cause, man isn’t really a romantic. Love at first sight is not something he understands.
Also he’s still pretty peeved about the whole “declaring war on you, then backing out after we got our armies together” thing.
