There’s blood on your face, it trickles from your busted lip as you sit on one of the bar stools with a plastic bag of ice clasped to the side of your face. The bruising is starting to come out, flourishes of purple across your cheek bursting across your skin like a starburst.

The scent of cordite clings to your skin, intermingled with the soft floral perfume that you wear. Gunpowder and roses, that’s what his woman is made of.

Dwight’s fingertips trail across your jaw, cupping it lightly as he tips your chin up to meet his eyes.

“My brave girl.” He whispers, his thumb tracing over your lower lip. “You took him down all by yourself.”

They made a mistake coming after you, they thought you were just the girl he fucked, the one that kept his bed warm. They didn’t realise you were a powerhouse of your own, that his baby has been running high end card games with some of the biggest players in Oklahoma for almost a decade. They also didn’t realise you kept a Smith and Wesson in your purse, one you damn well know how to use.

“When you come for the queen.” He murmurs as leans in close, his forehead coming to rest upon yours. “You better not miss.”

Illya Kuryakin x Gender Neutral Reader

The mission was going as planned. The target was in sight, and you and Illya were in your positions. Everything was like you expected, except for the cold.

You didn’t take in consideration that the mission was going to be outside and in the middle of the night. Being too focused on what you would be doing, you hadn’t realized you should have brought a jacket.

“What’s the matter?” Illya, your partner in crime, was staring at you. Honestly, you were probably quite the sight, pacing and shivering as you were.

“N-Nothing” You tried to hide the problem, but it was hard to pretend like your teeth weren’t chattering or like you could barely feel your hands.

“Are you cold?” Illya reached out to touch your arm. When he felt how cold your skin was, he frowned and pushed you against him. “Come here”

You had no time to complain or squirm as he pressed you against his chest and trapped you with his arms. As soon as you felt his comforting warmth, you knew you didn’t really want to complain.

“What are... you d-doing?” You still asked, surprised that he would embrace you like that.

“It will help our cover” He gravely said, keeping his eyes on the target. “We are but two lovers snuggling” 

“Is that the only reason that you’re hugging me?” 

“You won’t be of any help if you’re too cold to move either”

“So you’re not worried about me then?” 

You peered up at him, finding a surprisingly concerned and tender expression in his features. His piercing blue eyes watched you attentively. Still, Illya shook his head, quickly averting his gaze once again.

“R-Really?” You nuzzled his chest, trying to gather as much body heat as possible. “Because your heart is racing” 

Illya paused, noticing your hand pressed against his chest. He went to squeeze it, but ultimately retrievedf his hand.

“Quiet” He resolved to say. “Focus on the mission” 

You were about to reply, but you violently shuddered when a cold shiver traveled up your spine. Illya’s arms immediately tightened around you, and he put his chin on your head as he pushed you further into his chest.

“Do you need my jacket?” He asked, now rubbing his hands up and down your back.

“I thought y-you didn’t care” You chuckled, patting your hand over his heart.

Illya didn’t reply, only moving your hand off his chest. You smiled to yourself, knowing him well enough to realize how much he was struggling to hide his concern for your wellbeing.

“The target is moving” Illya finally said after a small pause.

“How convenient” You muttered, reluctantly pulling away.

You were about to thank him when you felt a soft weight on your shoulders. When you turned to him, he was already going after the target.

I’m surprised so many people dislike Ricky. In my opinion probably one of the most underrated and incredible gets for the AEW roster. Incredible mic skills and charisma, great in the ring, and those videos he wrote and produced himself when he was still coming up through the ranks before AEW are genius. So glad he wound up teaming up with Taz because they’re 🔥 together, and his work while he was injured was *chef’s kiss*. He’s so fun to write because he’s another one of those who just pours so much into what he’s doing. But I love the glimpses of soft fan Ricky we get when he’s on commentary, especially on Dark. Fall into the rabbit hole and accept the lovableness of Ricky.

“Thanks for coming with me,” you tell Merlin as he pulls the car up to your parents’ house. He smiles at you, parking the car as you self consciously tug at your outfit. Your family always goes all out for the holidays, throwing massive parties full of friends and family you barely know, and you had asked Merlin to come along with you to keep you company. Merlin reaches over to open the car door, but you quickly clamp a hand down on his arm, blurting, “Wait, there’s something I need to tell you before we go in.”

“Oh?” Merlin raises an eyebrow at you, leaning back into his seat. He adjusts his glasses, asking, “Nothing bad, I hope.”

“No, no,” you wave your hand, nervously running your hands through your hair. Your heart is pounding in your chest, and you admit, “It’s just, uh, by the way, I might’ve told everyone that you’re my date because I didn’t want to go to this Christmas party alone.” 

Merlin blinks at you, before, much to your relief, he lets out an amused chuckle. Shaking his head, he says, “You scared me, y/n, I thought it would be much worse.”

“So you’re not mad?” you sheepishly ask, and Merlin shakes his head. You let out a relieved sigh, laughing, “Oh, thank God.”

“In fact,” Merlin tugs at his tie slightly. “If you just asked me to be your date, I would’ve said yes, anyway.” 

You can feel your cheeks getting hot as Merlin looks at you, trying to gauge your reaction. You’ve had a crush on your fellow Kingsman for years, but refused to act on your feelings, fearing you might be overstepping some professional boundary. But as Merlin doesn’t break eye contact, as if expecting you to say something, you stammer, “I... would you— oh, fuck it, a new year is about to start, and I can’t go another year hiding this from you — I love you.”

You clamp your hand over your mouth, shocked at your sudden confession, but Merlin’s expression softens. He smiles, reaching out to hold your hand, and he gives it a squeeze as he tells you, “And I love you too, y/n.” 

Your heart leaps in your chest as you smile back at him, and he nods towards the house. “Shall we?”

You nod, brimming over with excitement, and for once in your life, you’re actually looking forward to this year’s party.

"What do you think?" Arthur stepped back so proudly, arms thrown wide. If only you could focus on the red tablecloth, the beautiful dishes you only ever used for special occasions, the flowers he no foubt plucked from a nearby garden. It was beautiful, really. But that beauty was severely overpowered by the black smoke that filled the air of your home. Clinging to the air, making your eyes water. Something had burned to bone. You were scared to open the oven, to look inside. It was the first time in a long time Arthur had been left alone to cook. He insisted, as a means of keeping the love and excitement alive, that you stay as far away from the home as possible. You let him, knowing he had a good heart, though you expected this kind of thing to happen. Another Valentines Day on fire, just like the last one.

"I think the house could catch fire any minute." You smiled, wiping the soot from his face. Staining his hands, his suit, everything. It was beginning to cling to you, too. He'd tried to find a layer of food that wasn't burned, scraping away wirh a fork and knife, losing hope by the second. In the end, it was only char. The only thing that was left edible was dessert, and that he bought from the bakery. Trying to hide any evidence of his mistake, he left it sitting in the pots and pans, serving the sweets instead. The gesture was what mattered and he'd done his best, your Arthur, too kind for his own good. You loved it. You loved him. If there wasn't an accident or some sort of deadly mishap, it wouldn't be the same holiday. "Maybe we want to open a window?" He was quick to brush it off, setting the glasses down.

I hated MJF with a fiery passion and yet thanks to you ... Now I don't dislike him as much. Ugh. Totally unfair to create a love/hate thing with him now but he was really kinda sorta cute in the story. 💗

This is, I personally think, one of the nicest compliments a writer can receive. I'm always honored any time someone has credited my writing with making them like a wrestler more.

MJF is a favorite of mine to write because he's great at giving little subtle moments in the ring through his expressions or in segments like one from a long time ago with Penelope Ford that show some depth and so he's honestly a writer's playground to work with -- so much more than folks that are sort of one-note all the time.

I'm so pleased you liked the little mini series I put out today. Thanks so much!
