Slider blinked before getting an excited grin on his face. "Oh man! Best birthday gift ever!" He holds out his hand, counting on his fingers as he lists his priorities. "First, I'd wanna go see Matt, Jackie, and Inez's places and let them be my Earlie tour guides! Next, I'd wanna try some Earthlie food.... but not anything *too* weird." He hums in thought for a moment before holding up three fingers. "Definitely try some skating competitions on Earth! Would love to see how I measure up against other Earthlies besides the Cybersquad!" He chuckled, giving a small shrug with a chuckle.

wait you guys, we know ice canonically has glasses in tgm right. What if when he first was told he needed them to read/see or whatever he was embarrassed so got the prescription in his aviators instead because he always wore those anyway - so nobody would suspect a thing. It wasn’t until maverick (or one of the flyboys) accidentally picked up the wrong aviators and found out ice’s had a prescription in that anybody found out he needed them. They then proceeded to tell ice he was being stupid for not getting regular frames but ice didn’t cave until he was promoted to Rear Admiral and out of the sky and got fed up of trying to read paperwork with sunglasses on while indoors in dim lighting 24/7. Then because he’s self conscious he didn’t let anybody see him wearing them for ages until the group let themselves into his office since they hadn’t seen ice in a while and ice was fast asleep on the keyboard of his computer: having passed out from exhaustion.

Mav and Ice don’t truly start becoming friends until Ice somehow gets de-aged. Sure, Slider stands guard over the kid like it’s his damn job and Mav can barely say hi to him, but he can watch.

And he notices.

How little Tommy Kazansky flinches at loud noises, and that he gets the slightest hint of an accent when he gets agitated, how he goes real quiet when he gets distressed, and several times, Mav overhears Slider telling him that it’s okay to ask if he needs something.

And Tommy Kazansky loves planes but he won’t say it, he'll just stare at them with wide eyed fascination, and he gets real shy when someone actually calls him Tommy, and he'll snap his mouth shut in the middle of a word if Viper comes into the room.

And Mav thinks, Oh.

I understand you now.

Ice comes out of it not remembering anything and Slider glares at anyone who tries to bring it up, but Mav just keeps watching and keeps noticing. And keeps understanding.

I think Bradley technically could go to Ice and Mav for dating advice but it’s not all that useful because it’s basically either “I don’t know how I did it, kid” and “I just hated him until I didn’t? And it happened?” So not a lot to work with

So he goes to uncle Slider, and it’s not much better?? Cause Slider’s dating advice is basically a list of what not to do, taken from his time witnessing icemav’s beginning

So Slider’s advice is:

Don’t snap your teeth at them

Don’t insult them

Don’t stare at them from across the room with a weird smirk on your face, everyone can see you and you look ridiculous

DON’T snap your teeth at them please

Don’t play any sport shirtless against each other, it gets weird for everyone

Thinking about Mav being unsure of what Ice's eye color is

Of course he's not going to do the normal thing and ask the man, so he settles for finding ways to get up close and personal to try and see for himself without being obvious (-> he fails)

But every time he gets a close enough look they're different. One day they look blue but the next they look hazel. One moment they look brown but then he turns his head and a different light catches on them and they look almost green

It turns into one big game of "How close will he let me get? How much will he let me see?" And it's not until he's gotten to the point of being a breath away from Ice's face- close enough to brush lips- and standing under the bright white LEDs that he realizes that they're gray

i would like to inquire about the lore of your death the farmer

I had some backstory in mind while I was staring at the character creation screen but absolutely none that matters because "Death becomes a farmer in a small town" is a concept that can stand on its own, I think.

He's Death. A very stereotypical Grim Reaper. He talks to people and helps them because that's what Death is supposed to do. He likes bone themed items and halloween decor. He's a little too enthusiastic about requests asking him to fish or kill creatures. He put fruit bats in his cave because the concept of mushroom creeps him out.

The farm was Grandpa's. Maybe Death was given it, maybe he just moved in. Not like it matters anymore, and no one can stop him anyways. He's Here and they just gotta Deal With It.

The scale of the story is limited to what's mentioned in-game, though. So don't even worry about the global or cosmic ramifications of Death becoming a farmer. It's not gonna come up C:

I can’t remember what fic it was but essentially mav couldn’t read very well (or he was dyslexic like I said I can’t remember) but he still read Bradley bed time stories but the stories were based off the pictures in the book. Would Jake do that with his swamp chickens growing up so they would have bed times stories?

Also how does slider ice and mav react to finding out Jake is dyslexic????

Oh he absolutely did that! Also all the Cajun stories he heard about while working with adults to get money, fishing and lifting heavy stuff, he commits to memory — he tells them the scary stories of the rougarou and feu-follet.

He wants them to be like ordinary kids, scared of things that go bump in the night, not people.

Jake copes with his dyslexia very well as an adult, most people don’t even notice his occasional stumbling over words that he spells or him taking a little bit longer to read something. His kids have never known anything different, so it’s normal for them for one kid (usually Mack) to do all the ordering if they go out, or to read street signs aloud. They just do it like second nature and eventually someone asks why… Oh, Ness has math brain and he’s tired so I figured I would read the sign so he didn’t have to double check.

Jake, turning bright red as he drives the crew around: She means I’m dyslexic.

It changes nothing and everything. 😉❤️ Suddenly every piece of paper Jake gets handed by Mav is at a lower contrast level so it’s easier for him to read. Slider will offer to read aloud a chunk of the big NATOPS Jake is studying. Ice won't give him directions like left and right, he’ll use specific coordinates or clock hands, or “follow the yellow car”. Bradley will proofread his writing without a single comment and Jake… is very confused.

Do you use the slider things Kevin Temmer uses for animation? I don’t have any animation software so idk what to call anything

There are a lot of sliders when you mess with 3D, a 3D program like Blender is basically slider-mania. I will go out on a limb here and assume you might be talking about rig sliders.

A rig is kinda like a skeleton which makes characters move. It essentially works like the armatures stop-motion animators use. Sometimes, a 3D rig can have sliders to make animating faces and other things easier. I usually make these sliders myself, and it's a pretty lengthy process. They look something like this.

These sliders control the face. If rig sliders isn't what you were referring to, then I will assume you might be talking about shape keys.

Shape keys are cool and awesome and rad because they are like layers in a drawing program. You switch them on, sculpt on the geometry, and then a slider will change the shape to what you sculpted the geometry into. I usually use them to make extreme expressions on pre-existing characters:

I also use shape keys to fix errors, like when geometry clips together, or whenever I want to make free-form changes, as they allow for a lot of creative freedom. Hope some of this was insightful! :'D

Ice goes through many emotions after meeting Ron’s new partner Jake. Ron is happy his long time best friend gets along with his new boyfriend but he wasn’t expecting them to get along that well. Mav isn’t thrilled that stinky brought a mini Ice to lunch. Jake is amused by the whole thing and just happy that Ron’s friends like him (mostly).

I have no idea how they got together (at the moment) but the fic is essentially icemav meeting Jake. This is definitely somewhat of a crack fic.
