🌿how does creating make you feel?

i did answer this here, but i guess another good word for it is relieved. not just about finishing, also about the process! i guess im just pretty often tense but when i get to create (again, especially with writing, though i guess that's the main way i do create!) i get to relax. the things that don't exist yet, that i get to build into this world, they will be exactly how they are meant to be. with say painting, it's a little less relaxing bc i can't undo things as well, but with writing, every word is something i can adjust until im happy with the outcome.

so it's just relieving. it's something that i can't really mess up, which makes the process so much fun. and then i get to share it with others and that's also a whole thing <3

🍉in what ways has writing helped you process trauma and/or navigate through your own life?

i think mostly by just being there. i don't tend to write my own traumas into my stories because when i was young, it was an escape from them. like i said before, writing makes me happy and it gives me space to release the tension.

if i could do nothing else, i could write. and i could daydream about the worlds i wanted to build and the stories i wanted to tell.

i remember, at a time when i was at an all-time low, i read a fic for the first time in months. and in turn, i began writing again for the first time in years. and i felt lighter than i had in so long. it was a breath i hadn't been able to take. and it helped me fight through those days.

i don't know much about pod-fics, sadly ;;; but idk, i feel like it would be super interesting to be able to hear (wit)jitp as a pod-fic!! how chilling would it be to have an actual audio contrast between Nathaniel speaking normally vs. when Riko drugs him and he calls Kevin :00000

🤲what do YOU get out of writing?

i get joy, and community, and a feeling of accomplishment, and a desire to learn more and grow more, and a whole lot of self-love and pride, and an appreciation for every story and book i've ever read. and some unique feeling, something i can't put words into. writing just lights up my heart. and sharing what i write, and seeing how it makes others feel? is the best feeling in the world. and writing gets me that feeling too.

It doesn't matter if "the chicken is already in the nugget", people have a right to mad at Tumblr for selling off their user's data. Their promise to "discourage AI crawlers" make it very clear that their partnership with AI companies is one born out of rentseeking behavior. After how much of a shitshow this site's management has been, especially as of late, they honesty could have won back at least a little bit of goodwill back by making this an opt-in process, and not "opt-out and we'll make the companies paying do a pinkie promise the companies won't take your shit for their own profit" like it is now.

i mean, yes, all websites partnering with AI companies are rentseeking, but the people they're seeking rent from are the AI companies, so like, why should i care. bleed those idiots for all they're worth! what 'selling off their user's data' means here is just putting a price tag on the data that web crawlers have been taking for free for years--there was no protection of your posts or content from AI training data set collection before, the only difference now is that tumblr wants a cut of the midjourney money pile when they take what they were already taking.

& to be quite honest if 'making it more inconvenient for midjourney specifically to use your art for training thir models' would buy any goodwill from you towards the website whose ceo just had a transmisogynistic meltdown then your priorities are absoltuely fucked.
