Thinking abt that quote from I believe, tho I may be misremembering, Phoebe, when he was talking abt gay culture and like Freddie and other gay men he's known, abt how you find platonic love as a gay man with your friends first if/when romantic love is hard to come by as it can often be
And I know he was talking more abt the 1980s gay culture but my god if there isn't an aspect of that which still exists now, except now as a gay man I struggle to even find strong platonic love with friends and it all feels v fleeting and impermanent and wow!!! That feeling is not great paired tonight with my also feeling touch starved and in want of romantic love and attention as well as platonic.

hi elliot! can you do a drabble or hcs of how kuroo, the miya twins, oikawa, and bokuto would propose to their s/o? if that's a lot of characters, then pls just take your pick but pls include kuroo! thank u so much!! btw i really like your "they accidentally hurt you" post. it provides realism and a middle ground to the usual extremes we see in reader-insert content - idyllic/saccharine vs dark content (•ˇ‿ˇ•)
how they propose to you 𓍢 ᭡
Tumblr media
includes : oikawa , kuroo , bokuto !
warnings : some misunderstandings in oikawa’s from a prank lolol , some cursing !
a/n : hi anon! ur my first anon message and you warmed my heart<333 also i lowk got inspiration from bokutos from a spanish music video i watched in spanish class today, sue me lololol
Tumblr media
oikawa tooru
he’s just dumb
he thought it would be funny to try to prank you
dumbass
butttttt knowing his luck, it didn’t go as planned—
okay, well, it started off innocent— he planned to try to casually slide it in, maybe catch you off gaurd, then get down on his knee and ask you to marry him!
but, when you were on top of him tickling him, he wanted to get back at you.
and like tooru oikawa, he didn’t fully think it through.
“mei! stop!” he laughed, as a joke. it was supposed to be a joke.
you stopped your fingers that were wiggling by his sides. you slumped on his lap. “what?”
he peeked at you and smiled. “what do you mean what?”
“who’s mei?”
“i didn’t say mei,” he replied, your eyes watered and you got off of his lap. he sat up and stared at you. “y/n? are you okay?”
he got up but you already were in your room, slapping the door shut.
“stupid tooru! you made ‘em upset,” he scolded himself quietly.
when he walked up to your shared room, he heard the sniffles and sobs that came from the other side that broke his heart. he knocked on the door three times before entering.
“honey,” he walked over to you and hugged you. you sobbed into his chest.
“how long has it been going on tooru?” you asked through your sobs.
he pet your hair, “what do you mean baby?”
“don’t act dumb! it’s like—“ you paused. “it’s like you’re trying to ignore the fact youve been cheating!”
he thought you knew he was joking. “y/n—“
“if you’re not going to tell me then i’m leaving,” you turned around to start packing your bags.
his eyes widened in panic. “nonono! no, shit—“ he was embarrassed. “i didn’t mean it! it didn’t happen! mei isn’t real!”
you stopped packing, “what?”
“she—it was supposed to be a joke. a joke to make you stop tickling me. it’s dumb because i don’t think things through. but that’s why i need you— i need you to be there so you can stop me from doing the stupid shit that i do,” he looked at you to see if you were looking at him.
and you were, you looked pissed. he sighed and bent down on his knee, pulling out the ring he had gotten weeks ago.
“y/n, i know i’m dumb. but please, forgive me for this stupid prank, and please stay with me forever. don’t leave, please.”
“stand up.”
he did so, and he wasn’t sure what to expect, but a slap across the face wasn’t it.
“you’re a fucking idiot, tooru oikawa,” you laughed, kissing him. “but— i suppose that’s why i’m here. and i’m not leaving.”
he beamed at those words, he wasn’t sure if he smiled wider in his entire life. he kissed your cheek repeatedly, “i love you so much
Tumblr media
kuroo tetsuro
PLEASE- he would set you upppppp
giving you hints, to where he is
but not random hints, it would be like a mini time line of your relationship
he would through a lil chemistry is there to mess with you
lovingly, though<3
you woke up alone in bed, a little confused since your boyfriend would always be there— to kiss you good morning.
you rolled over to grab your phone from its charger, looking at the text message from kuroo.
boyfrie tetsu<3
good morning baby<3 sorry i’m not there this morning, let’s play a little— hide and seek game, the prize is a big one!
the first hint: we didn’t quite meet there, but it was where i became your “boyfriend” for the first time
good luck baby!<3
you were confused by his text, and honestly, you almost wanted to ignore it. it’s too damn early for this.
but, you can’t. you knew he was going to be waiting for you, and you can’t leave him all alone.
your eyebrows furrowed in confusion as you groaned and started your day. you still got dressed none the less, and went to a café you always go to.
as the barista handed you your drink, you saw a note on it.
dear y/n,
you’re probably here for your morning coffee, but, none the less, this is where we first started to ‘date’! that one guy who wouldn’t stop hitting on you, and your prince charming (aka me aka the most handsome man ever) came to your rescue;)
where we promised each other is your new hint, good luck!<3
you knew where it was once you read the bolder letters. you thanked, and tipped the barista. you were more than happy to remember the memory.
“tetsu, it’s so late out, what if we get kidnapped!” you ranted your anxieties to him.
“kidnapped? you think anyone would dare to fight your prince charming?” he kissed your head as you two walked. “we’re almost there.”
he led you to the bridge that curved over the water like a C shape. you both leaned forward on the cement railing and looked at the moon.
“i’m so in love with you, y/n.” he admitted out of the blue, you looked at him.
“i’m in love with you too, tetsu.” you leaned your head on him, he wrapped an arm around you.
“i know we’re only in highschool. but i promise, i’ll marry you.”
“i’ll be waiting for that day, tetsu. even if it’s till we’re sixty, or if we’re only in our young twenties and being stupid. i’ll be waiting for you.”
you both melted at each other’s words, you shared a passionate kiss.
you ran up to where the bridge was. your pace slowed as your boyfriend came into view. he was holding flowers, and a lock.
you panted, “i hate running tetsu.” you breathed out, he laughed at you. “i know, sorry.”
you stood straight, looking at what he was wearing. it looked fancier than usual. “what’s the lock for?” you asked.
he looked at it and smiled, “i remember, it was our second year of college. you were so mad that they changed the bridge. that they changed the fencing, and couples started to put locks on it.”
“..and?”
“and i was thinking we could do one too?” he questioned. you smiled and grabbed the lock. you bent down and locked it, he wrote both of your initials on it.
you stood up, but your boyfriend stayed on his knee.
“tetsu what are you doing?”
he pulled a little box from his back pocket, a few pedestrians stopped and watched what was happening.
“when we were sixteen, we made a stupid promise to each other at midnight on this bridge. and i promised i would marry you. y/n, i told you ten years ago, when we were sixteen, that i love you.” he paused for a second to look up at your face, which was in shock. “and i still do, so please, keep the promise and marry me.”
“oh my god, oh my god! yes yes!” you got on your knees with him. he laughed at you for getting on your knees with him instead of waiting for him to stand up.
you tackled him in a hug while other people clapped for you two.
Tumblr media
bokuto kotarou
tbh this stressed him out
he wasn’t sure when, how, or what to say
you two had talked about marriage and how you two would gladly marry each other
but he wasn’t sure when!!!
he kept the ring on him at all times just incase:)
you and bokuto were just returning from a walk. the snow was heavier than expected by you two, so when you got home to a pile of snow, you were thrilled.
“kou let’s make a snowman! like we did with your old team, c’mon!” you dragged him by the hand to your front yard.
you and bokuto were always childlike in your relationship, you two getting excited at the tiniest things that makes you two act like children. so when you saw the snow, you felt more than joy.
you began by making a small snowball in your hand, and rolling it as you walked around your yard, to form a big snowball for the base. by the time you were done with the biggest snowball, bokuto was done with the medium sized one.
“okay, if we pick it up at the same time, it shouldn’t break,” you lifed the medium sized snowball with him. you set it on top of the biggest one.
“hey hey hey! y/n! let me make the tinniest one while you get the scarf, carrot, and eyes and smile,” he suggested. you nodded and kissed his cold cheek before heading inside to quickly grab the items.
you grabbed a pink scarf, a white hat that kou got you one year, and a carrot and some coal for the eyes and smile.
when you headed outside, you saw the snowman was all made. your insides felt bubbly as your childlike happiness was showing.
you ran out to him. “i got everything kou!”
“okay! you decorate, and don’t turn around until i say so. i have a surprise for you,” he replied. you were confused at what the surprise could be, but you agreed none the less.
you put the carrot in the middle of the snowman’s face. you then placed the eyes, and tried your best to make the smile symmetrical.
you wrapped the scarf around it’s neck, and put the hat on top. “okay kou, i’m done! can i turn around?”
there was a short pause, “okay now you can.”
you turned around to him on his knee, holding out a ring. your mouth dropped open to see writing in the snow.
will you marry me? ♥︎
“yes! yes yes!” you basically screamed, tackling him and kissing him repeatedly.
“the ring! wheres the ring?” he questioned. you both started to dig it up in the snow, laughing at how stupid you two were.
you found it, and slid it on your finger. “i cant wait to marry you, baby.” your hands slid up and down his chest before you kissed him.

The Island Home (JJ Maybank X Reader)
Summery: You go to your best friends second home on an island outside of outer banks with her new boyfriend and his group of friends. Unlucky for you a storm rolls over the island which leaves you terrified, luckily a cute boy is there to make you feel safe and calm.
A/N: Okay I suck at summaries and I also haven’t written anything in about three years so sorry if this is bad! (I also didn’t proof read it so I’m really not helping myself out there...) It also doesn’t actually have that much JJ and reader in it until the end so apologies, but it leaves room for a part 2...right?
Length: 3.3K words
Requested: No, but if anyone has any requests let me know, I’d like to get back into writing more!
You place your bag on your bed next to the items of clothing you decided to take with you, half mad at your best friend for forcing you to go and half glad that she constantly forced you out of your comfort zone. You’d been to Sarah’s families house on the little island across from outer banks a couple times before, but it was always with her whole family, not just with Sarah and some friends. Sarah’s friends that is, you’d hung out with her and her new boyfriend and his group a couple times and for the most part got along with all of them. You still felt a little awkward around them, not because they made you feel that way but just because that was how you were.
Your phone buzzed on the bed beside your bag, a text from Sarah signalling that they were outside waiting for you. You sighed, too late to back out now even if you wanted to. You zipped up your bag and slung it over your shoulder, grabbing your jacket which was hanging on the back of your bedroom door on the way out. You shouted a quick goodbye to your parents but got no reply so you headed out the house and over the the beat up camper van parked at the bottom of your driver. As you approached the side door slid open and Kie smiled at you from behind it.
You dropped your bag onto the floor next to the others and sat down next to Kie as you greeted everyone with a smile. “Beer?” Kie asked, already grabbing one out of her cooler and handing it over to you before you could answer.
You smiled and took it from her, “Thanks.” You reply as you open it up and take a sip.
“I still cant believe your family owns an island…A whole ass island!” Pope shakes his head, looking over at the passenger seat where Sarah was sat.
Sarah turned to look at the boy over her shoulder, “How many times do I have to tell you, we don’t own the island! We just own the house on it.” Sarah rolled her eyes.
“That’s basically the same thing!” Pope argues back, looking over at the others for back up, both of them nodded in agreement.
Sarah just laughed and turned back to look out at the road as they drove to the docks. Sarah had some how not only persuaded her parents to let her and her friends stay on the island on their own, but also to borrow the boat to take them all there. You weren’t sure how she hand managed it and decided not to ask her.
It didn’t take long for you to reach the docks from your house, the boys grabbing all the bags, refusing to let the girls help and telling them to start the boat up for them. You followed Sarah and Kie up onto the boat, sitting on the comfy chairs outside while Sarah went to start up the boat ready for John B to guide them all over to the island.
The boat ride was only short, the island not being too far away from the one you lived on, so close actually that on a nice clear day you could see the outline of the house if you stood on the docks and looked out. The journey was full of beer and the group messing around, play fighting, teasing and joking around. At one point JJ almost fell over board while he was messing around and climbing onto the railings, resulting in a stern telling off from Kie while the rest of you watched and laughed.
You carried your bag up into the house, after having to pull it out of Pope’s hands, insisting it wasn't heavy and you were capable of carrying it yourself. You carried it up the stairs, placing it on the bed in the room which you always use while you were staying here. You could hear the rest of the group running up the stairs, exclaiming at how massive the house was and fighting over the best rooms. You decide to unpack later and leave your bag on the bed and make your way downstairs to Sarah who was in the kitchen mixing drinks with John B.
“Apparently we’re having cocktails.” John B tells you as you walk in, an almost confused look on his face as he watched Sarah mix liquids in a shaker and pour it out into glasses, “Not sure what’s wrong with the beer we brought though.” He adds, scratching his head as Sarah handed him a glass.
“Just try it.” Sarah urged him as she handed a glass to you. You sipped the drink, smirking as John B did the same and pulled a face.
“Is this just juice?” The asks, pulling the glass away from his face to take a better look at it and then putting it to his nose to sniff.
“You just watched me add vodka!” Sarah laughs pouring the rest into the remaining glasses for the others, “It’s supposed to just taste like fruit. Tastes good, gets you drunk. What else could you want?”
John B pondered her question for a moment before shrugging and taking another sip, “I wouldn’t ask for it, but if it gets you drunk then I don’t care.”
Soon everyone else had come down and joined them all in the kitchen, equally as confused and disgusted with the cocktails laid out for them, all preferring to have a can of beer.
“Just shut up and drink them!” Sarah scolded them, “I will hide your beers until they are all gone.” She threatens.
JJ grabs his glass and downs it in one quick gulp, practically slamming his glass back down on the table, “It was great. Can I have a beer now?”
Sarah sighed but grabbed him a can from the fridge, “Fine, Mr. I have no class.”
JJ grinned and popped open the can, taking a sip and letting out a satisfied sigh, “Much better.”
You all gather in the living room, you sit in the window seat looking out and up at the sky which had turned a violet shade of grey, you could see distant lightening making it’s way over outer banks and to the island.
“I thought the storm wasn’t supposed to be for a couple days?” You wonder out loud, watching the first few spots of rain drop onto the window and slide down the glass.
Pope appears behind you, looking out into the darkening sky and shrugs, “Guess it came early, I hope theres not a power outage.”
“We have a generator.” Sarah replies, laying her head down on John B’s lap as she spreads out on the couch.
“Of course you do.” Pope rolls his eyes, sitting on the window seat beside you, “So, what’s the plan?”
“Chill out?” John B suggests, laying his head back on the couch and looking up at the ceiling.
“Boring.” JJ states, standing up from his seat and pacing around.
“We could explore the house?” Kie suggests, looking up at the boy walking around the room.
JJ shakes his head, “Is that the best we can come up with?”
“Well you come up with something then, genius.” John B lifts his head up and gives the blonde boy a glare.
“Fine.” JJ sighs, “First, we need the right atmosphere.” he states, walking over to the speakers and turning it on, requesting Sarah play something good. Once the music is going he heads over to the kitchen, grabbing more beers for everyone and plonking them down on the coffee table, “Now, we drink.” He starts throwing the fresh beers around the room into peoples waiting hands.
“We were kind of doing that already/“ Pope raises his eyebrows as he catches one of the cold cans.
“We drink.” JJ repeated, “And we play a game.”
“What game is this?” You ask, opening the can he had thrown you and placing it on the shelf beside you.
“JJ shrugs, truth or dare? Never have I ever…You know, drinking games.” He states, opening his own can and taking a drink.
“Didn’t realise we would be playing kids games.” Sarah sits up from John B’s lap and swings her feet down onto the floor.
“Do you have a better idea?” JJ retorts with a glare, “It’s not like we have anything else to do, unless you want to go outside in that.” He points his beer can at the window which was now covered in water, rain battering against it loudly.
“I think it will be fun.” You say, sitting up, “I also don’t know any of you that well, it might be a chance to get to know each other better.”
Kie nods her head, “Yeah, I’m in, truth or dare?” She suggests.
JJ grins and hurries to grab an empty bottle from the kitchen, placing it in the middle of the dining table, “C’mon, everyone sit down.”
Everyone grabs their drinks and makes their way to the dining table, sitting out it you place yourself between John B and Kie, placing your can in front of you and your hands on the table, ready to start the game. You had said you wanted to play but now almost regretted it. What you said was right, you didn’t know anyone very well but forgot the part where you would also have to answer questions about yourself. Or do a dare, which you weren't sure you would be comfortable doing.
“Okay,” JJ leans over the table and grabs the bottle, spinning it in the middle of the table. All eyes were on the bottle as the spinning slowed down and stopped to land on JJ, he looked a little defeated, probably already having a good idea for a dare but soon brought back the usual grin to his lips.
“Go on then,” he stands up, “Who’s gonna dare me?”
Everyone looks around the table trying to come up with a suitable dare. You wait and see if anyone will say anything and when they don't you speak up, “I dare you to run down to the sea and back?” You almost ask, shrugging as everyone turns to look at you.
JJ looks out of the window, the rain hitting the panel so hard you were scared it was going to brake through, “Okay.” he nods, putting his drink down on the table, “Oh, and new rule. If who ever is asked the truth or dare doesn’t do what they’re asked they have to drink. If they do it, then the asker has to drink.” He smirks at you.
“How are we gonna know if he actually goes all the way to the sea?” Kie asks with a raised brow.
“A rock.” Sarah answers, “The beach is covered in little rocks, he can bring one back with him.”
“Alright, deal.” JJ smiles, making his way over to the front door, “This one’s too easy.” He adds before disappearing out into the rain.
A couple minutes pass before he returns, bursting through the door quickly and throwing the rock onto the table, “So. Fucking. Cold.” He shivers, wrapping his arms around himself.
Sarah grabs him a blanket and throws it over his shoulders before grabbing the bottle and spinning it herself, this time it landed on John B.
“Truth.” John B decides, looking up at the people around the table.
“Boring!” JJ exclaims, tilting his head back to the ceiling in exasperation.
John B shrugs, “I don’t care, I don’t want to be dared to go out there.” He laughs nodding his head in the direction of the door.
“Okay, out of everyone in this room,” Kie starts, “Who would you trade lives with for a day?”
John B ponders the question for a minute before stating that he would want to be Sarah for a day.
“Why?” She asks, furrowing her brows as she looked over at him.
John B shrugs, “Because | get to see what being a girl is like and could look at you naked without feeling guilty about it.”
Sarah’s face turns red and she slaps him on his shoulder, “That is disgusting!” she shakes her head.
Kie takes a sip from her drink and then grabs the bottle and spins in. The game continues for the next hour or so, everyone getting landed on multiple times until the lights suddenly went out. Everyone groaned and Sarah stood up, grabbing John B up with her to go and sort the generator out. Everyone else retired into the living room, spreading out on the couches and floor, climbing under blankets and cradling their beers in their hands.
The power soon came back on with the generator and the couple joined the rest of them back in the living room and sat with their backs against the couch, a blanket thrown over their knees. The rest of the night was spent talking about everything they could think of from memories to hopes and dreams, family and embarrassing moments. It was nice getting to know everyone better but the later it got the harder you found it to keep yourself up right and stop the yawns escaping your mouth.
“Me too, Y/N.” Kie said through her yawn, “I think I’m gonna call it quits.” you nod in agreement and stand up.
“Yeah same here. I had fun tonight.” You smile at the group, rolling your blanket up into a ball and throwing it onto the seat you just vacated.
“Night girls!” Pope calls as both your and Kie head upstairs to your rooms.
“It was nice getting to know you better.” You smile at Kie as you stop in front of your door.
“Yeah, you too.” Kie agrees, “Sorry I was a bit bitchy before, I get kind of…”
“Territorial?” You suggest, both of you laughing, “Yeah, I noticed. It’s not a bad thing. Night Kie.”
You turn and head into your room, forgetting that you hadn’t unpacked yet. You grab your night clothes out of your bag and throw it onto the floor, telling yourself you will sort it out in the morning but knowing you probably wouldn’t. You quickly got changed into your shorts and tank top and climbed under the covers, pulling them over your head to block out the sound of the on coming storm. You hated thunder storms and was embarrassed to admit the the sound of thunder gave you the scared the crap out of you.
It was around two in the morning when a loud burst of thunder woke you up, it sounded like it was coming from right above your room and you could have sworn you felt the room shake. You bury your head under the overs as lightening lights up the room shortly followed by another roll of loud grumbling. You close your eyes tight and count the seconds between the different bursts, it was roughly four seconds, not long enough for your liking.
The sound of the rain on your window was loud and angry, the sound of the storm sending a shiver down your spine making you feel colder than ever. Even wrapping the covers tighter around you didn’t help to warm you up. You sigh, not wanting to get out of bed with the storm raging but also knowing you needed another blanket and a glass of water, your throat was dry as a desert thanks to all the beer you had been drinking hours earlier.
You slowly climb out of bed as another crack of lightening makes you jump, you squeeze your eyes shut until its over and then hurry to your door, deciding to run down the stairs, grab what you need and then run back up, the less time you spent out of bed the better.
You grab a glass of water first, placing it on the kitchen counter ready to grab on your way back up. You head into the living room, grabbing the first blanket you could see, turning around ready to run back upstairs to the safety of your bed.
A bang of thunder makes you jump, letting out a surprised gasp and gripping the blanket closer to your chest.
“Scared?” A voice asks from the dark, causing you to let out a squeal and whip round to see who was down here.
“Sorry!” the voice apologised, “I didn’t mean to make you jump.”
You recognised the voice and once your eyes got used to the dark room you could just make out the figure of JJ sat on one of the couches with a blanket around his knees. “JJ,” You place a hand over your heart which was racing like crazy, half from the storm and half from the boy in front of you scaring the life out of you, “What are you doing down here?”
JJ doesn’t answer for a couple seconds before you hear a slight sigh, “I couldn’t sleep, figured I may as well sit down here instead of rolling round in bed. Watch the storm.”
“Why would anyone want to do that?” You ask, shivering as the room lit up bright with lightening shortly followed by more growling from the angry clouds.
“Scared?” The boy repeats his question from earlier.
You bite your lower lip, trying to decide if you should admit the truth or just shrug it off and say you didn’t mind it. Whatever you decide didn’t matter as the boy didn’t give you any longer to answer.
“C’mere,” he beckons you over with his hand, you furrow your brows and hesitate, “C’mon, I don’t bite.” The boy laughs.
You sigh and walk over to him, crawling onto the couch beside him as he wrapped the blanket over you and placed his arm around your shoulders.
“It’s okay, it’s only a little storm.” He says, stroking your shoulder lightly.
“What are you doing?” You ask, still tense beside him as you looked at the blonde next to you, just able to make out the side of his head.
“Uh…Comforting you?” He asks, turning to look at you in the dark.
“No, I know, I just…Why? I didn’t even think you liked me that much.” You laugh softly.
JJ shrugs, “Of course I like you. And I don’t like seeing people scared, even if it is only over a silly little storm.” He teases, bumping you with his shoulder.
You roll your eyes, “I just don’t like them,” You shrug, “Don’t really know why, they’ve just always freaked me out since I was a kid.” You admit, not really knowing why you were telling him but also not minding if he knew this about you.
JJ pulls you closer to him, pushing your head down onto his shoulder, “It’s okay, I won’t let the creepy storm get you.” He teases.
Usually you'd be embarrassed and angry at someone joking about your fears but somehow you knew JJ only meant to tease you, probably to take your mind off of the storm raging above you. Although you still felt scared by the storm, you were amazed at how comfortable and safe you felt in JJ’s arms, especially as you still didn’t know the boy that well.
“This is nice,” You admit, nuzzling your head into his shoulder, feeling his head come to rest on top of yours, “Who knew you could be so sweet.” You teased.
You felt him smile against the top of your head, “Don’t you go telling anyone. A boys got to keep up appearances.” He jokes, you feel a soft kiss against your hair, “And this side doesn’t come out for everyone… Try and get some sleep.”
You smile and curl up against the boy, slowly sliding your arms around his waist, the storm long forgotten as your ears were filled with the sound of the boys heartbeat and quiet shushing as he stroked your hair. You could definitely get used to falling asleep in his arms, maybe next time you’ll tell him you're scared of the dark too.

Fallout 4 Companions react to Strong having a crush on Sole
(REQUESTED!!) (im cackling like a maniac already)
Tumblr media
(I know I used this before but...This IS Sole and Strong)
some are them realising it and some are helping him come to the realisation  (some of the reacts even work together as one!)
Cait:
Tumblr media
Cait watched as Strong stomped back and forth in front of Soles house in Sanctuary, at 4 am, on a Sunday. ‘’Oi buddy! can ya quit yer stompin?’’ she whispers out angrily, putting out her cigarette onto the side of one of the small shacks sole built Strong grumbles under his breath which makes Cait come striding up ‘’what is your problem?!’’ she was trying her best to whisper at least ‘’Strong doesn’t know!’’ he roars back she covers her ears and sighs ‘’Listen big guy, people are tryin to sleep and they cant with you stompin around’’ Strong grumbles again and points at soles door ‘’Strong cant be without master’’ ‘’what you like a lost puppy or somethin’? yer supposed to be a big mean ol’ supermutant’’ Cait scoffs, now leaning against soles house ‘’NO Strong does not want to be, without master near him, makes Strong MAD!’’ Cait’s eyes widen and she backs away slowly ‘’good lord, you better talk to MacCready about that...’’
Curie:
Tumblr media
‘’Ah monsieur Strong!’‘ Curie waves strong over in a chirpy tune ‘‘How have our experiments gone so far? any pain? some memories? violent tendencies more than usual?’‘ Curie had gotten some data from some ‘hospital’ of sorts from New Vegas and was testing the medication in does on Strong so far nothing was different of course Strong was already more ‘Put Together’ compared to many supermutants and it had been a very small dose, ‘‘No strong want stop, making head fuzzy! weak!’‘ Curie nods and checks her chart ‘‘When does this usually happen or is it all the time?’‘ Strong stomps his feet slightly ‘‘If Strong is near master it becomes fuzzy! want to stop! need to be strong and protect Master’‘ Curie stops writing down in her notes and freezes ‘‘Oh Mon dieu’‘
Codsworth:
Tumblr media
Codsworth is what he calls ‘Smart for an old bot’ he knew from the get go, hes still full of old world ideals so he isn't to keen on it, considering supermutants are known as violent brutes as well, but he warmed up to Strong (well as much as one possibly could if they weren’t sole) and it became quite entertaining for him to watch over a cup of tea and a nice book (he makes the tea for show, sadly he cant drink it) as strong ‘somehow’ gets red when with Sole, it really makes Codsworth rethink many things
Danse:
Tumblr media
Danse...Isn’t exactly a fan of supermutants in general, that's just the way he’s  wired (haha get it...Ill go)
Strong would always try to size Danse up, whenever he would talk to Sole Strong would be there, either watching intensely with a violent glare or just interrupting whatever he could, so he went up to him and asked what his problem was, guessing it was because he used to be brotherhood and also because...Danse obviously wasn't a fan of him. Strong just stares him down and points a thick green finger to Danse’s chest poking it into him slightly ‘’Sole needs real man, not metal man’’ and walked off leaving Danse to be (the gif above)
Dogmeat:
You know that thing dogs do when they cover their eyes with their paws and or ears as well?...Yeah just that
Deacon:
One word nine letters  Terrified
Deacon thought it was kinda cute at first when he would watch strong follow Sole around, in that scary sort of way...in that way where little girls sing ring around the rosy or your child stands beside your bed in the middle of the night and says nothing, but then he noticed things...different things, like how he would rarely let anyone else around Sole, and that one time where they went to the third rail and that person tried to hit on sole and he chucked a tantrum and set the third rail on fire and- OH MY GOD
Tumblr media
Piper:
Tumblr media
Piper was making her usual rounds around Diamond City, trying to question whoever she could about her new piece ‘’Mirelurks and their MireQuirks’’ when suddenly she saw strong browsing the general supplies store she was confused why he was here alone, things may have changed since Sole came into play but he might still get given a hard time, he scratches his chin and Piper moves closer to greet him ‘’Master friend, Strong need gift for Master, Master gave Strong milk of human kindness’’ Piper thought this was very normal in fact and did help him pick out something, but then he turned to her and said ‘’How do humans show ‘E fec tion’ ‘’ and she froze ‘’Oh wow buddy i’m not the one for that um...Maybe Nicky can help he was married once well- when he was- when he wasn't- wait was he him- yes of course- um - but its- well-’’ Strong had enough of her blubbering and scoffs already walking off to see valentine, Soles gift in hand. Piper breathes out and then in deeply but then starts laughing softly, it was kind of cute really, but she didn’t think Supermutants could feel ..Love?, Piper had already found a new, and better article idea. SCORE
Preston:
Tumblr media
Preston sighs softly, wiping the sweat away from under his hat, taking it off to fan himself with it he noticed the ground rumbling slightly beneath him ‘’Strong that you?’’ Preston turns to the direction of the rumbles and places his hat back on, sure enough he was met with big green mean fighting machine, strong. ‘’You know master, what does master like, besides blood and fighting’’ Preston purses his lips in slight confusion an audible ‘huh’ leaving his throat ‘’Strong want say sorry for Third Rail on fire, Mack Ree Dee says I should show sorry with actions’’ Preston scratches the side of his face and stares at the ground for a minute ‘’why don't you go to diamond city? check out the stuff there I’m sure they would like anything from the surplus store’’ Strong grunts in agreement and stomps away again behind Strong stood MacCready with a tilted head and raised eyebrows Preston looks at him completely confused until MacCready takes his two fingers and draws a heart, Preston stands there dumbfounded his gun falling from his hands
Valentine:
Tumblr media
It was a slow day for nick, seemed not many people needed help nowadays guess he had Sole to thank for this time off, but he was getting a bit restless with all this sitting around waiting for something, he felt kind of bad for wishing for things to happen but he was sick of the small ‘Lost my cat’ or ‘forgot where my nuka-cola truck was’ and sick of the fact all of those were deacon in different wigs, so when his door opened he was pretty excited he turns his head up quickly and is met with strong slowly trying to squeeze into the door, he struggled for a few minutes before sitting down, and then breaking the chair, but he still sat in place on top of the broken chair on the floor, nick chuckles and rubs at his temples why was the world against him ‘’Strong, great to see you...What do you need?’’ strong was quick to speak ‘’Paper send me but before that pwes ton and then before that mac ree dee and then before him irish lady, and now im here help strong now metal man!’’ nick rubs the lower part of his face and sighs ‘’so...Paper? sent you specifically?’’ strong nods with a grumble ‘’Alright..tell me what you need’’ it was better than seeing deacon in a long blonde wig talking in a high pitch voice about his cheating husband for 5 hours ‘’Strong been told to come to you because you were married and I need to know E fec tion’’ Nicks eyes widen slightly, the pupils whirrling vibrantly this had to be one of deacons tricks ‘’Affection? for whom’’ Strong slams a big green fist on the desk, breaking it, nick pretends the desk is still there for sanity sake and rests his arms in midair ‘’For Master! who else would be good enough for E fec tion’’ Nick could die at that moment ‘’Alright Deacon you can come out now’’ Strong roars angrily ‘’Bald man at settlement!’’ oh god so this was...Serious, nick takes a looooonnngggggg drag of a cigarette and sighs ‘’Alright...ill help ya’’
X6-88:
Tumblr media
(petition for me to just use Raymond Holt gifs for X6 considering they are basically,,The same person like the personalities are spot on omg)
All of the companions where sharing their opinions/outlooks on Strongs growing affections on sole/if Sole would return them and all that, Hancock threw in a few sexual jokes (making everyone groan in different tones) while everyone else already knew X6 did not, and he found it obscene
‘‘x6, what do you think about it?’‘ Curie asks with her eyes full of curiosity, as always.
‘‘Absolutely...Not’‘
‘‘What do you mean ‘Absolutely not?’’ Piper asks with a joking scoff
‘‘it is ridiculous at best, there is no way’‘ the other companions sigh at him ‘‘hey it could be a real blossoming love my guy, they will have gorgeous half green babies’‘ Deacon says with a mouthful of carrot X6 looks at him in distaste and turns in his hair ‘‘X6! don't ignore us, stop being a grumpy pants you aren't in the institute anymore! love is real!’‘ Mac says excitedly X6 slowly turns his chair back and stares at him through his glasses
‘‘It might be, but not between sole and the supermutant, now before you complain, i am once again turning in my chair’‘
he will come around
MacCready:
Tumblr media
‘’MACK REE DEE!’’Strong stomped up to Mac at INCREDIBLE speed ‘’whoa there strong! you could flatten me buddy’’ he chuckled but he was literally terrified for his life seeing strong run like that ‘’Loud lady says you can help me’’ strong says bluntly ‘’help with what?’’ now mac was interested  ‘’I told her I didn’t want to be without Master and she tells me to see you little man’’ MacCready rubs his neck in confusion why would she send strong to him over nothing it was only natural that he would be if he considers Sole his Master ‘’After fire in Third Rail Master was upset at Strong, STRONG CANT STAND IT’’ Mac nodded slightly ‘’uh well...Sometimes a good ‘’hey I’m sorry’’ and some affection, maybe a hug and a gift can work?’’ strong seemed to like that idea ‘’I GO NOW’’ he roars ‘’whoa buddy wait! do you want me to tell Sole you’re leavin? I’m on my way to have dinner with her now’’ dinner!? Strong’s alarms went off in his head and he picks Mac up by his jacket snarling slightly ‘’Dinner?!’’ Maccready stares at strong, confused and terrified ‘’Um yeah...The thing people do to eat? she wanted Duncan and Shaun to meet formally? you were invited remember?’’ ‘’oh’’ strong slowly and gently (for a supermutant) and slightly dusts Mac off and turned away MacCready laughed softly at how strange he could be and then stopped dead in his tracks ‘’Wait what the fu- ‘’
Hancock:
Tumblr media
Once the institute was defeated Hancock and Sole both came up with the idea to have a party for everyone at the third rail, all of good neighbour was decorated from top to bottom with funny decor, synth scraps, all of that (much to x6′s dislike, he still went) everything was fine and dandy, everyone was partying it up, Magnolia switched It up for the night and was singing some upbeat party tunes, and then some random stumbled up to Sole, Hancock watched for a distance he knew Sole could handle themselves so he just watched silently, it was chill and all until Strong war cried, threw the person into some lit candles which then got caught on a decoration and set it on fire and then in shock some people bumped into each other and started fighting AND THEN as everything was going to shit Sole had to jump up to Strong to avoid the fire as it pooled around them, the way strong held onto Sole, told him enough whether supermutants could feel that kinda thing or not wasn't his business. Putting out his cigarette he sighs and decides to help in the chaos as Deacon walked into the third rail ‘’ I BROUGHT PIZZ- aaaa???!’’
BONUS
Sole:
Sole was sitting at dinner with Mac, Duncan and Shaun and turned towards the empty spot they had reserved for Strong with a sigh. They just continue to smile and eat, until the door gets fireman kicked down (I cannot stop with that) and strong appears Sole stands up and strong walks towards them, a pretty sweet looking belt in hand he throws it at sole and they catch it ‘’is this for me strong? well thanks! I-’’ then Strong picks them up and awkwardly  hugs them to his body sole struggles a little bit against him ‘’is this about the third rail? its alright strong I told you that I was just busy’’ Strong ‘’I’m trying to do human E fec tion’’ sole goes silent and then smiles softly ‘’thanks strong that’s really nice of you to do that for me, but you don’t have to I like you the way you are’’ strong slowly puts sole down and sole pats him on the arm
Mac and Duncan just looked at each other awkwardly and kept eating the whole time

Hi !i hope you enjoyed your vacation! Can you write a atsushi x blind reader and she falls in love with his voice and it kinda takes him a while to like her?
Tumblr media
Hi! I did enjoy it thank you so much:) Sorry this piece took so long i was honestly kind of scared to write a disabled reader as i didnt want to fuck it up but at least i tried haah! Also i tried writing a reader who didnt work in the ADA which i hope worked out good, regardless thank you so much for your request, i hope it turned out to your liking though i did get carried away as its a little longer than usual…
Word count: 2.6k
Pairing: Atsushi x reader
TW: nothing
Summary: Basically u cant see much and atsushi is insecure cutie again
It was a long day ofworking and there was nothing that you wanted more to do then go to bed forwhat would seem like all of eternity, that’s how tired you are. Yawningslightly, you made your way up the stairs to your apartment with a relativeamount of ease.
Your body had already gotten familiar to the pathway to your livingspace, although you were partially blind. You had been partially blind yourwhole life, only being able to recognize the shifting of light and whatnotbehind your (e/c) eyes.
The familiarity of the routine encompassed a feeling ofserene comfort. All your life, you relished in the concept of order, everythinghad their place in the world and you greatly respected that notion. It onlymade living life a tad bit easier, with that belief you had clung onto.
As you continued toclimb the stairs, you briefly let go of the railing in order to place a handupon the wall, letting it travel upwards as you felt up the hard, stone surfacebeneath it.
You recognized the sudden shifting of light and realized that youwere at the top of the stairs now. Making haste, you walked the approximate numberof steps that you were familiar with in order to get to your door and unlockedit, before scurrying inside in and shutting the door behind you.
You briefly turned onthe light in order to recognize the area in which you should place yourbelongings and did so before making your way sleepily to your bedroom.
You didn’teven bother changing into your pajamas and instead just settled for strippingout of your work clothes so that you were in your undershirt and underwear.
Allin all it was kind of a shitty day, you thought as you settled into yourbed. See, you worked in a café that normally wasn’t this exhausting but todayit seemed as if you had received a greater number of either ignorant or rude customers.Accompanied by the fact that your manager asked you to stay back to close onlyirked you even more.
This had overthrown your routine and you were upset aboutit as you had most likely missed your favourite part of each day.
Unfortunately, youlied in bed feeling quite awake now.
Of course, that was until you heard it, hisvoice.
Smiling to yourself, you rolled over in bed until you were closer to the thin walls that separated youand your neighbor. You could clearly make out the mutterings and comments madeby your neighbor, Atsushi Nakajima.
Every night the poor boy would come backhome and spend half an hour or so speaking to someone, most likely over thephone, about the day’s mission he had to endure. It was always so entertainingto you, his whole life was an adventure to you, almost like a good book that hewould speak verbally out loud to. It always lulled you to bed ever since hefirst moved in.
From what you could gather, he was a recent employee of theArmed Detective Agency starting from a few months back.
This agency was right besidethe café that you worked at so you always managed to hear him there as well asin the mornings when both of you would greet each other a good morning.
You let your eyelidsfall shut as you homed in on his soft voice. Unlike the noisy sounds of thecity that so often gave you a headache, his voice was incredibly soothing andquiet.
It was always accompanied by gentle undertones as well which shocked youslightly at first as you couldn’t believe how someone could be that type ofkind.
His voice was almost to the point of melodic, the words that would takeform by his tones would spin into a plethora of stories and recounts that youyourself liked to listen to as you fell asleep.
Besides his voice, hehimself was a kind and gentle person. You had heard that way he had interactedwith his co-workers in your café, his undying patience in the antics of his, what you assumed to be, supervisor Dazai Osamu.
The interactions between thetwo never failed to make you chuckle as you would hide your amusement behindthe coffee machines.
Through all this, itwas no surprise that you fell in love with him.
Unfortunately, the feeling was not mutual as both of you were mere acquaintances.
But you werefine with this, as much as it pained your heart you accepted that not everyonein the world was lucky enough to be loved back by the person that theycherished close to their heart.
With this thought inmind, you let yourself quickly let yourself succumb to the sweet promise ofsleep with Atsushi’s voice in the background.
Hours later, yousnuggled into your comforter serenely, turning over and inhaling deeply. It hadbeen quite a while since you’ve been this well rested.
In fact… the mere notionof how well rested you were feeling was a tad bit suspicious.
Throughthe foggy haze clouding your mind, you shot up in bed as a shocking realizationshot through you. It seemed that you had been so exhausted the previous nightthat you had forgotten to set your alarm for the upcoming workday.
The possibility thatyou had slept in quickly caused your heart to speed up slightly in fear thatyou completely missed your shift. “Siri, what time is it?” you demanded as youdistressingly rolled out of bed.
“The time is 6:47 am” YourAI responded back in that calm, robotic annoyingly professional voice. A suddenbout of irritation shot up through your body, how could this stupid phone be socalm when you were here panicking the hell out, trying to find your belongings?
Shaking your head, you focused on the fact that you had 13 minutes to get to workand you had to scram!
You paced around the room, hands reaching out and patting every surface insearch of your work attire. Thank god you had memorized the layout of your flatotherwise you would surely be stumbling across every piece of furniture in yourwake. Okay, so maybe you were stumbling, but not as much as if you were in a completelyunfamiliar place.
Suddenly, your handsfound several articles of clothing and once you had identified them as yourwork clothes by running your fingers over the logo stamped on the shirt, youwasted no time in pulling them on before racing out the door.
Not so carefullysprinting across the living room, you grabbed your backpack from where you hadthrown it the previous night and pulled open the door.
Shutting the door behindyou, you turned the corner to the right in order to make it to the stairsbefore you collided with a taller, harder body.
The impact sent yousprawling to the ground and in return, you heard some of your belongings fromyour backpack crash as well. Oh my god, you thought Did I just make afool of myself?!.
“I-I am so sorry sir!”You hurriedly apologized as you dropped to your knees, quickly trying to searchfor your belongings so you could get the hell out of there in order to not be moreof an embarrassment.
“A-ah no it’s my fault, here let me help you,” the other body hastily said back, and you felt your bodygrow hot with the awful realization that you recognized this man’s voice. It wasyour neighbor, freaking Atsushi. It seemed that you had indeed made yourselfout to be an embarrassment. Crashing into your crush on a 7am morning wasnot how you wanted to make your first impression on said crush.
“You’re too kind, haha, thank you!” You anxiously said back as the both of you quickly gathered the itemsthat fell from your backpack. Once he had finished handing you your items, theboth of you stood up.
“I-I’m really sorry again, I didn’t see you there,” hesaid, the sound of him scratching the back of his head could be heard and youcould only smile at his nervous behavior. His antics were adorable if you hadto be quite honest.
“That’s alright Its kind of my fault, I was too much of ina rush to get to work to remember the layout of my surroundings,” you said backapologetically.
A brief pause followed before he cleared histhroat, “You can’t see?” he asked and you could only imagine the cute way hisfeatures would scrunch up, the widening of his beautifully coloured eyes, whatever colour they may be.
Shyness coursed through you as you nodded, youhoped this fact didn’t define you or change how he would possibly see you inthe future.
After all, you were more than your disability. You then explained, “I’vebeen visually impaired since I was a kid..b-but I can still see shadows and light, even movement.”
Another pause followedand you swallowed in anticipation of his reply.
“If it’s no trouble miss, please let me walk you to work to make it up for crashing into you!” Atsushi rapidlyoffered and your (e/c) widened. You felt your jaw drop slightly at hisproposition but before you could ask why, he answered for you, “I- you work atRen Café right? Near the ADA?”. You blinked at this; how did he know? Could hehave possibly remembered you from the small interactions you both shared?
“It’s just Dazai’salways talking about how good the coffee you make is which I guess is how I knowyou and its also on the way so it would be no problem.” He shyly explained andyou felt your cheeks heat up at this.
“A-alright,” youaccepted hesitantly and the both of you made your way down the stairs and outof the building, Atsushi kindly offering any assistance if you were in need.
Days turned intoweeks, and slowly this became a part of your routine.
More precisely, Atsushi kindly walking you towork before moving on forward to his own workplace. On those walks, not onlydid you learn more about Atsushi himself, you got to hear more of his voice.
Throughhis words, you learned about his special ability, about his work as a detective, how Dazai managed to do this, or how his other co-worker Kunikida managed to dothat. It was still as lovely to you as it was back then and only caused you tofall for him even more as you got to know him.
The slight low pitchof his voice grew increasingly more attractive to you with each passing day.
On this particular day,you opened the door of your apartment, “Good morning Atsushi-kun!” you greetedcheerfully, knowing full well that he would always be waiting for you on theother side of the door to walk to work.
“M-morning (Y/n)-chan!” he replied, andyou could basically sense the smile on his lips.
Shutting the door behind you,you looped your arm through his before rounding the corner like you would do everyother day. Humming, you let your stride fall into a small skip, unwillinglypulling Atsushi along with your movements.
“You seem like you’re in a good moodtoday,” he commented as the both of you made your way down the stairs. His armtightened around yours to ensure that you wouldn’t fall as you had done the daybefore.
Oh, how much you had laughed from the sheer embarrassment of it all ashe quickly fretted over you in clear worry.
“What?” you asked, feigning offense, “Am I not allowed to be happy?” you accused. Laughing at howhe stumbled over his words in an attempt to deny your words, you shook yourhead, “Just kidding!” you giggled.
“(y/N)-chan!” hewhined adorably at your teasing before quieting down, “(y/n)_chan..” he saidquietly. “Hm?” you hummed at the sudden change of tone.
“I-uh, are you evercurious to how I look?” he asked, and you blinked, turning your head to hisdirection silently probing for him to expand. “I mean, you know what I am.. I mean…the monster inside of me, but you still want to be my friend..” he hesitantly said,“What if…what if it’s only because you can’t see me, the person I could really be…”
You took in his words, confused for a moment before you realized. Something you had not known beforebefriending the detective was his incredible low level of self-confidence.
Itwas no secret how close the two of you had become recently, you even taking theinitiative to visit him at his workplace as he would do the same to yours.
Hemust have been blaming his current happiness of your friendship because you couldn’tsee, and thus was never witness to his transformation into his alter ego of thetiger.
Because of this unintentional avoidance of not seeing him at his worst, hemust think that I am in an ignorant position.
Huffing slightly, youfelt your growing irritation spike, “Atsushi, me being blind doesn’t haveanything to do with our friendship or my judgment of your character,” youstated annoyed, “I don’t need to see in order to know what you can become andthe fact that you even think that I need to see in the first place so that our friendshipcan have true meaning is frankly offensive” you furrowed your eyebrows angrily asyou placed your hands on your hips.
“A-ah Im sorry(y/n)-chan! I didn’t mean to insinuate… I just…” Atsushi trailed off andyou sighed, letting your arms fall.
Softly you took a few steps forward untilyou were sure you were much closer to him. “Atsushi, you know how I know you’rea good person aside from what you’ve told me?” you gently asked. “No, I don’t…”he whispered back.
“Your voice,” youstated.
“M-my voice…?” hestuttered out in confusion.
“Yes Atsushi, yourvoice,” you reaffirmed, “You speak in such a gentle manner, in a way that is socomforting and serene to the people around you, its so full of kindness andpatience and that is so rare to find in a world like this.”
“It paints me all thepictures ill never see which I’m fine with because I would honestly just have yourvoice then see any of the sights of the world…and I don’t know about youAtsushi but I don’t think anyone would describea monster like that” you continued to explain before letting the silencesink in as he took in your words.
Exhaling, you took a step forward and reachedfor his hand, intertwining it with your own. Tilting your head upwards, you leta sudden burst of confidence fill you as your nose brushed against his, “(Y/n)-chan”he stuttered out, but you never let him finish.
“Your voice is the most beautiful thing I’veever heard” you admitted in a shy whisper.
Where this confidence came from, youhad no idea, but he had to know how much of a good person he was, how he wasnot the monster so many people had previously tried to make him out to be.
Itseemed as even though you were blind, you could see things this man couldn’t.
“(Y/n)-chan…”he breathed out as you felt his hands caress the sides of your face. His foreheadrested upon yours before he whispered, “thank you” and then you felt his softlips claim yours.

Who: Avery Clarington & Alastair Wilde Where: London, Hospital Room When: 05/02, 1PM Triggers: Violence, Injuries, Pregnancy, Mention of Abortion
Avery was excited to be showing off her skills in front of her boyfriend and have him watch her in action. However, she didn’t plan on getting seriously hurt and quite frankly, the lady should pay for her hospital bills. So she was on the bed, lying down when she woke up and glanced at Alastair and reached out for him. She knew that she wasn’t the prettiest sight to see, busted up lip, a black eye, a cut below her left eye. She noticed that her left hand wrapped since it got sprained in the ring when she tried to catch herself from failing. Which she was thankful that one of the bouncers caught her but that didn’t stop the lady from knocking her out cold. “Baby,” She whispered softly.
It hadn't admittedly taken quite a lot of self restraint for Alastair not to lose his shit on the women that knocked Evie out. It was a fair fight, he told himself, and she didn't need him stepping in. Of course, that didn't ease the worry. He'd very quickly taken he from the bouncer and driven her to the hospital, no need for ambulances or police involvement. When she finally woke he took hold of her uninjured hand as it was offered. "Yeah, Evie, I'm here. Gave me a little bit of a scare, darling."
Avery interlaced their fingers together as she basically pulled him into the bed with her. Once he was in the bed, she snuggled into him and pressed a kiss against the back of his hand. "Im sorry," She said softly as she glanced up at him and knew that she was ready to cry at some point.
Alastair got comfortable beside her, wrapping an arm around her waist and making sure not to upset any of her injuries. "It's alright, love. I'll just have to teach you to take a punch better," he joked. He kissed he jaw very gently and pressed his face into her hair. "Nurses are about somewhere. Took some blood from you. Said it was routine testing but you ask me, that just didn't believe me when I said you wasn't on any drugs."
Avery let out a small laugh before she let out a small ow. “You better,” She said as she listened to him, knowing that it was routine for them to take the blood. “I’m sure they believed you, baby. Also, did you tell Hunter & Patrick that I’m in here?”
Alastair winced at her pained reply. He hated seeing her like this. He stroked her hair and kissed her forehead. "Who?" he asked with an oblivious tone.
Avery gave him a knowing look. “My siblings who I’m not talking to at the moment.” She said as she felt him kissed her forehead. “Also your brother.”
Alastair rolled his eyes and laughed. "Yeah, yeah. I told them, don't worry. I'm sure they'll be here to annoy us at some point. Or I could tell them you're fine and to fuck off?"
Avery laid her head back down onto him and shook his head gently. "Not yet, no because I don't think they would believe you if you said I was fine and to fuck off."
Alastair sighed and continued to lightly stroke her hair. "Yeah, you're right there. They mean well at least, I suppose." They laid their a few minutes before the nurse came in. Alastair sat up in anticipation. "Well, she's all peachy keen then?"
Avery nodded slightly, then sat up when the nurse came in as well. “We would like to keep her in here for at least the next twenty four hours, for observations. She has a few bruised ribs.” She looked at Avery and then at guy then back at Avery. “Everything showed up normal on the blood test and maybe stop the fighting, since in few months, I don’t think your significant other would like to put you and your baby at risk. You’re very lucky that there wasn’t any damage to the fetus or you guys would have a different talk. So congratulations are in order, you guys are pregnant.” Avery could feel her heart dropped and swallowed thickly. She couldn’t be pregnant. She didn’t have any of the symptoms, sure her period was late but that was normal for her. “I would say you are a month along. I’ll leave you guys alone.” The nurse left the room and Avery pulled  away from Alastair.
Alastair was numb to the news. He didn't even react when he felt Avery pull away from him. He blinked, staring at the door where the nurse left them. Pregnant. Avery was pregnant. With a baby. His baby? What had the nurse said? "You're a month along," he said aloud.
Avery shook her head as she heard him. “There must be a mistake, I’m not pregnant. I can’t be pregnant.” She said as she started to feel a panic attack coming and gripped the railing. “I-I’m not having this baby. I have my whole life ahead of me. I want to, go into the city with you and act like fools. I want to take you to Italy and have you meet my family. I want to get drunk with you, then have drunk sex. No, this can’t be happening.”
"You're not drinking if you're pregnant," he said automatically. He sighed and stood up. He brought his hands up to rest behind his head and he began to pace the room while staring at the ceiling. "Fucking christ," he murmured to himself. "Who's the father?"
“I don’t even know if I want to keep the baby, Alastair.” Avery admitted as she looked at him as he stood up and swallowed thickly when he asked her the question. “....Levi.” She could feel guilt wash over her and knew that she was about to cry.
Alastair rubbed his face and closed his eyes. He didn't know what he was supposed to think. His girlfriend was pregnant. That alone was terrifying enough. But then the fact that he wasn't even the father hit him harder than he thought. "I cant..." He walked out of the room and closed the door behind him. He got all the way outside of the hospital before he sat down on the ground with his head in his hands. What the fuck was he supposed to do. "FUUUCK!" He screamed loudly into the open air. He got a few stares but couldn't be fucked to care. He shot off another text to his brother and headed back inside.
Avery watched him walk out and pulled her legs close to her body, swallowed hard once he shut the door. She tried not to cry since she didn’t want the added stress and ran her hand through her hair. She was going to get rid of the baby, that was it. She was going to get rid of the baby and flee to Italy. She literally wasn’t in the shape of being a mum right now, she wanted to continue fighting and now she can’t even do that. What the hell is she supposed to do, now? She didn’t want to have a baby with Levi. Deep down, she wished Alastair was the father instead.
Alastair walked back into the room and saw Avery close to tears. He felt like a selfish prick for walking out but he was feeling a lot of things he couldn't deal with. He sat next to her in the chair by the bed. "You don't have to get rid of it if you don't want to," he said. "Levi's a peice of shit, but he's not a deadbeat. He'll help when you tell him." He sighed. "Or you can get rid of it. Its up to you."
Avery couldn’t look at Alastair in the eye as he spoke and wrapped an arm around her torso. “What about you?” She asked above a whisper then looked over at him. “What are you going to do?”
Alastair sighed again and ran a hand through his hair. "I don't know, Avery. I'm not fucking cut out to be a father." He fought the urge to stand and start pacing again. Instead he just shifted forward in the chair. "Told you before any kid of mine would turn out to be a violent peice of shit, just like me." He scoffed. "So I guess you're lucky its not mine."
Avery glanced over at him and swung her legs over the bed to place her hands on his thighs. “Listen to me Alastair Wilde and you listen to me good. You are fucking soft with me and took care of me while I was out cold. So don’t sit here and tell me that you’re not cut out to be a fucking father when you know damn well any child would be lucky to have dad like you. You’re a great uncle, sure I haven’t seen you interact with them but I know it in my heart that you will be a great dad to my baby. You will love it as your own and will protect it like it it’s flesh and blood.” She paused as she kept eye contact with him. “I wish that you were the father, not Levi. I am not lucky it’s not yours. Now, go away with that talk or oh so hope me god, I will drag you by your coat, out of this hospital and put you on your brother’s porch myself. Because you are a gentle guy, you have showed me care, kindness and love. You opened up to me about your nightmares when you didn’t need to do so, but you chose to do so. Any man of that, is worthy of being a father.”
Alastair composure crumbled at her words. His eyebrows scrunched together and he could swear he was on the verge of tears himself. She almost made him wish it was his as well. Part of him did, in fact, but he was conflicted and so fucking scared. She said such kind things about him and he wanted to believe her. He shook his head. "You don't know what kind of man I really am Evie." He balled his hands into fists. "I've fucking beat men to death for looking at me wrong."
Avery covered his hands and gave them a squeeze. “So? That doesn’t make you a monster or a terrible dad from the gate. These hands,” She brought them and kissed them before she opened them up then placed her face into his hands. “Have also done a lot of good things, soft things like playing with your family, holding my hand and other things you have done that I don’t know about. Just because you’ve done that stuff, doesn’t make you a monster, Alastair. I understand it’s easy to focus on the bad stuff, but focus on the good stuff, as well. The good and bad, go hand and hand and these hands have seen both.”
Alastair let out the breath he didn't even realize he'd been holding inside. A tear slid down his face and he felt pathetic. He hadn't know how scared he was of her reaction until she'd given it. She had no idea how much he'd needed to hear her say he wasn't a monster. He pushed forward to kiss her and then held their foreheads together. "I'm not going anywhere," he finally said. "If you keep it... I'll be here."
Avery cupped his cheeks and wiped away the tear. She returned the kiss as she let her own tears roll down her cheeks and brushed her nose against his. “Good because I’m not letting you go, not ever.” She whispered back to him. “Help me raise it? And love it like it’s your own? Raise it as your own, care for it as your own? Protect it as your own?”
A spark of panic went through him again. What if he fucked it all up? Kids were easy to fuck up, weren't they? And he was fucked up enough just on his own. He took a deep shakey breath and closed his eyes. "I'll fucking try," he answered.
“That’s all I want, because like it or not. You’re stuck with me, Wilde.” Avery said as she started to caress his cheeks. “Baby and all.”
Alastair chuckled despite the situation. "Think you got that backwards, love." He sighed again, this time more out of emotional exhaustion than anything else. "We'll need to tell Levi at some point. It annoys me to say it, but he deserves to be involved." He paused. "That is... if you've decided?"
Avery shook her head after she pulled away slightly. “I don’t think so.” She said as she pecked his head as she tried to stifle a yawn. “Yeah, I know. And I have, so it looks like we’re going to be parents.”
"Oh, fuck. Christ, what are we getting ourselves into?" He took another deep breath and then pulled away from Evie so he could point a finger at her stomach and staring as if he could see the growing child within. "You better be a fucking girl is all I'm saying, alright?"
“I don’t know but I’m excited to see where our journey takes us.” Avery said as she ran her fingers through his hair. She laughed before she moved over so he could get onto her bed. “So she can be like her mum and kick the boys’ ass.”
"If she's lucky she'll be all you without a trace of me or Levi." He crawled onto the bed next to her. He wrapped his arm around her rested his head on the pillow just above hers. "Could be a bad night," he confessed. "All this going on in my head... thinking about a kid now... nightmares will probably hit hard tonight. Might not be a good idea for me to stay the night."
Avery snuggled into him and kissed his neck. “And that’s okay, I just want you to hold me before you go for the night.” She said as she looked up at him when she rested her chin on him. “If you do end up having a nightmare, can you let me know? That way I know you’re okay, for the most part?”
Alastair looked down at her and nodded. "Yeah, I can do that," he replied. He shifted his hold on her, being careful to mind her injuries, and pressed a kiss to her forehead. "When we get back to the Village you'll have to go see our family doctor. We'll set up on of those ultrasounds."
“Thank you, baby.” Avery said as she closed her eyes when he pressed a kiss to her forehead. She nodded as she interlaced their hands together and caressed the back of his hand with her thumb. “Sounds good to me. Then I’ll start the prenatal vitamins and tell work that I can’t continue doing the underground fighting ring story. Even though the pay is nice.”
"Mm, fuck the pay," he mumbled into her hair. "I'm paying for everything now." As far as he was concerned Avery was now his to take care of. She'd never work another day if she didn't want to.
Avery glanced up at him. “Do you enough money to pay for everything?” She asked softly as she started to rub his side.
Alastair paused, realizing that she really didn't know anything about his family or their business other than the fronts they'd told her about. "Yeah, more than, darling. Don't you worry about that." He'd have to discuss more than just his baby fueled emotional meltdown with Tobias, and soon.
Avery nodded as she rested her head onto his chest and closed her eyes. “Okay.” She said as she gotten comfortable and knew that she was exhausted from everything.
Alastair stroked her hair and watched as she began to nod off. "Rest for now. I'll wake you before I leave."
Avery snuggled into him. “I’m not tired.” She murmured softly, knowing that she was going to fall asleep at any moment.
Alastair rolled his eyes and continued the soft motion of his hand in her hair. "Yes you are. Sleep. I'll still be here when you wake up."
Avery snuggled more into him and let her eyes close. “Do you promise that you will be here when I wake up?”
Alastair nodded his head slowly and hummed in response. "Yeah, baby. I promise."
Avery swallowed thickly as she closed her eyes and drifted to sleep shortly after that.

Could you tell us about your ocs? If you wouldn't mind of course...
Shit, I meant to answer this earlier, but I got distracted!
I actually have a page on my tumblr dedicated to my characters, if you wanna check it out, but basically, you have:
Bibi - The Badass Female Character everyone needs in their life. She owns a Saloon in the middle of fuck-nowhere with a bunch of people dubbed “Survivors.” She has blood red hair and dark, dark Red eyes, and she is only 5 feet tall, but built like a fucking ox. She is so strong, she literally spends 90% of her free time pulling boards off her saloon so she can reinforce the framing against desert storms (yes, she lives in a goddamn desert). She is a close-combat fighter, and she has 0 time for anyone’s shit, so I recommend not pissing her off. She has no qualms about kicking someone’s face in–literally. (But also, in the book, she is the Open World RPG protag who gets a main-plot quest, but then gets immediately side-tracked by 18 sideplots and just goes off the rails for a solid 100hours because she does things as they hit her, with no plan, because plans are for the weak)
Demitri - Is the peaceful salve you need after an encounter with Bibi. He is a fucking gem, and everyone should love him. At average height and weight, he has sun-kissed skin, short shaggy brunet hair and green eyes–which are so rare in the book, he literally had to escape to the goddamn desert to escape horrible things Anon. Horrible things. But Demitri is not the type to give up. Oh, no. This guy is a fighter, and while he is absolutely ready to let you cry on his shoulder (and cry with you, cause he a sensitive Bitch), you better bet he will be the first in line to throw hands for his friends. He survived 2 years alone in the Barrens (the Desert), and if he can survive spiders the size of your face and scorpions curling up on his stomach for warmth at night, you better fucking know this bitch ain’t afraid of no Ghosts. But he’s still got a heart of gold, and his altruism knows no bounds. Also, he loves scarves. Absolutely loves them, Anon.
Zhong - was an Assassin since he was 8 years old. This dude is legit. He doesnt talk much (which, haa, is a bitch for a writer who loves dialogue. Fucking thanks, Zhong), but is still a sassy cat despite that (
Vera - At 15, she is my youngest main character and a fucking hothead. If you have read anything where I write a foul mouthed Roxas, well, Vera is a lot like that. Headstrong and overconfident, she is a natural born leader who cannot follow to save her life. Has a bit of an authority complex and will fight the whole world if she fucking has to. While the adults around her tend to be patient and thoughtful, Vera is the jackass who knocks the doors down without a plan and just fucking hopes for the best. If I’m being honest, she’s not really a good leader, but she gives it her best shot. (oh, I forgot her description, lol) She is like…5'3/5'4ish? Taller than Bibi, shorter than Demitri, still with room to grow. She has strawberry blonde/ginger hair and midnight blue eyes, almost like marbles, and seeing her smile is a fucking miracle since she is serious or mad 99.9% of the time. She has a lot of growing to do, but that’s what books are for. I hope she grows into a character who at least listens before she kicks the door in, but we’ll see which direction the wind blows her.
I have a few others, but the only one of merit worth introing this early on is Haneul, so:
Haneul - is one of Bibi’s oldest friends, and also a computer programmer. Along with her husband Sergei, she creates Drones/Droids (read as androids that are indistinguishable from humans) and keeps an eye on the turmoil rife in the streets of the cities all around the world. She feeds this info to Bibi so that the Bartender can keep an eye out for refugees who need a home away from home. But Haneul also part-times as a hacker and believe you me, there is no back door she cant get in through. She is all around not someone you want to get on the badside of, and she is not afraid to put a piece of shit in their place. Also, she is rich and owns a bunch of hotels all over the world, because “why not.” Standing at the same height as Vera, she has black hair with streaks of dyed blonde, and kindly dark brown eyes. Also, a fashion sense to die for. I love her.

Subject: Oregon Intervention From: Ty S - Oregonian Date: 24 Nov 2020 To: the new Biden Administration Attention - the honorable Cedric Richmond Senior Advisor to the President Greetings elected officials, diplomats, and honorable people, Last time I wrote my elected officials it was under a circumstance of distress. I'm pleased to say that my experience with that situation was resolved with the help and assistance of some good people in public service. I dont write these letters often because Im often not feeling up to putting the kind of energy it requires to express the situation in terms that are solution oriented. But I seek solution oriented strategies often to remedy strife and stress that people in my community live with. It appears to be a time once again to update on the latest issue that we need serious intervention. My name is Ty S I live in Portland Oregon with my wife and son. The experiences as a high school student was quintessential to a Black man growing up in Oregon but my story is unorthodox. My trajectory in education was similar to phil knight of nike as I share two of the four schools he attended: Cleveland High and U of O. So Im as Oregon as the swoosh, Powells, and the Rudolph sign. Politics is my life mostly having been involved in the Oregon students of color coalition and OSA in 2004 and Urban League in 2009 before going on to serve in the Oregon Health Authorities Transformation Center and the Oregon Advocacy Commissions. I'm particularly proud of my community organizing in the between 2004-2016 which includes electing Obama, helping Black Activist run for office, and building a grassroots community health worker project called We Are Health Movement. Once Trump came to power things changed dramatically for the worse in Oregon. Nearly all of my activism ended as a powerful racist insurgency became more visibly violent and threatening to the Black community. Events of Portland Oregon 2020 require intense analysis. Im not a total alarmist about our situation like our media has gaslit and painted Oregon as a place on fire with leftist anarchists extremists. Please recognize that intervention can only be settled diplomatically at this point. We have lived and walked and witnessed a very violent escalation since 2016. Look at the evidence of tracking hate crimes in our state https://www.splcenter.org/hate-map?year=2016&state=OR . We should not be on this list. We have such a small populations of minorities including Black, Hispanic, Asian and Native populations and the many immigrant cultures are very small in overall numbers. The story behind these hate crimes is a way more then just isolated incidents there is a large scale and spreading networks of organizations that only purpose is to antagonize, disrupts, hate, punish and resort to violent intimidation and terrorism. Hate groups in Oregon have dramatically grown in the last four years and as a political, social, and defensive response people have responded in a counter activity to keep those movements from growing further and pledge to end their reign of terror. It started in mid 2016 when Jeremy Christian a pre-radicalized activist with the Proud Boys murdered in 2 people on the Max Transit system (which is like our rail car). Jeremy Christian is part a new movement of internet organizers that have particularly recruited young white men to organizations like the oath keepers, 3 percenters, and inspired by the Bundy occupation movement of 2016. They are living in the shadows of Waco movement. Out west they love that shit and 2016 opened the door for growth of these right wing extremism. Oregon responded initially in Portland by counter protesting against the groups that would gather in various parts of the city including on the Federal freeway 213, Downtowns Terry Shrunk Plaza, and Tom Macall Park. Each of the events in the summer of 2016 organized by violent right wing extremists involved heavy confrontation from counter protesters. This included verbal, physical, and organized violence. This was warfare in a small scale. But many things escalated. This history must include a contextualization of the types of organizations that began to sprout and grow on the opposition which I will categorize as the organized left until I describe it more fully. In Portland initially the ecumenical faith community, the non-profit activists, labor, and a variety of socialist organizations. Some of this coalition of organizations had previously collaborated against neoNazis in the 80s as resistance to hate before. The events of Jeremy Christian galvanized a large scale opposition that sought to resist racialized terrorism of that kind in our community. As events and confrontations continued to persist summer after summer after summer we are now where we are today. As the events continued the city of Portland often utilized the Portland Police Bureau as a referee of sorts to prevent wide scale violence. But there were many instances where people of Portland felt that Portland Police were more favorably protecting the right wing groups more and more the activists involved from the left lost favor with the city government, Police leadership and elected such as Ted Wheeler. The impasse really escalated between the city representatives and diplomats in political actions, contract negotiations for the police union contracted are included as a source of the strain and political tensions escalating. The summer of 2020 was by far the most chaotic situation because the global movement for justice for George Floyd and Briana Taylor tied with Oregons #BLM picked up a new confrontation with the Police and state officers in downtown Portland. Oregon activists like many other states have been fighting for justice for many unarmed black men and women and those with mental illness shot and killed by the Portland, Vancouver, and Gresham police. Local movements converged it was a mashing of black activism in a new generation of young and emerging people for Black Lives with the Oregon defenders and anti fascists who had basically been in battle with right wing extremists continuously for 4 years. The combination produced energy seen no where else in the country. The City saw had over 130 days of continuous protest in a call for anti racism, justice for police murders, and anti capitalism oppression. Now I do not need to detail all of these events and how they were organized and what happened between the night to night. I do know that a lot has happened and most documenting and historicizing these events can tell that story. My purpose today is explain that there is a diplomatic intervention needed. We are desperate in this city for a focus of attention that doesn't involve us looking down the dark hole of a barrel. There needs to be a peace tribunal set up in our city (similar to south africa). The need is so great out here. No convening, No conversations, Nothing seems to be working. Please help us out here and we don't need photo ops, only real commitment and work can solve anything we got out here. The pain is deep and the grievances are so numerous that our community might not heal for a generation. We need peace in this city. We need peace. Peace between police and protesters and between the right wingers. There are some clear changes needed. Here are my suggestions that will give people a part of power. Total and complete overhaul of the law enforcement in this country in the first step we must examine. The Portland Police contract needs a total revamp. All of there leadership needs to be changed. There is a certain segment of Portland that wont setter for less. The many proposals by thousands of activist in portland none of which has happened in the more then 4 years of advocacy: https://www.portlandmercury.com/blogtown/2020/06/09/28519183/all-of-the-... We need to accelerate these changes locally and nation wide. We are not an outlier here it is part and parcel of similar movements that started in Furgeson. Even if you or your office got involved and moved the needle on any of these issues Portland still will need to grapple with its right wing violent extremism problem, because it is growing out of control with reports of continuous recruitment in the suburbarbs and nationwide show this. Oregon is the theater of a national program targeting this state as battle ground for the clash of extreme ideologies. What should we do about that? Well my feel is that its not important to most law enforcement or it really feels like it. The law cant really keep up with the type of warfare that is just as much virtual as it is physically in the streets. It will have to be part of a robust strategic initiative on a large scale organized nationally coordinated and well resourced. No longer can cities afford to build volunteer resistances to hate groups. There needs to be a common societal agreement on this in a new contract of acceptance of what is right and wrong in our communities. It is appropriate but it will also need alternative opportunities to get people out of those groups. Violence is not ended here and we expect next year will be worse then this one and we live in fear for our lives. Black people in particular fear that violence is eminent in any outing, they must use precautions to protect themselves in this kind of violent political and social environment because your skin tone and or your social status is often the determinant factor. Hate crimes need national attention to end. We need a nation wide movement to end racism. Many of the right wing extremists are entrenched in their ideology and need an counter narrative that is stronger to inject alternative perspectives. But it might be too late for that here in Oregon we are at the point where violence and counter violence are yearly occurrences and it becomes a matter of desperation to even reach out to the federal government for help and support. Oregon is my home that I spent most this year has required a high level of alertness and protection of my home and family. This is the first year we have seriously discussed leaving the United States because really feel unsafe for us to live here and thrive. I hope this country can do something about our situation with both Policing and Hate before we dissolve into non stop tribal warfare and violence. This call to action and support will go to the high courts of international conflict. Please help me forward this letter to leaders of every civil society.

A Letter To My One Year Old Son
* This post was originally posted on August 3rd, 2017 *
Hello Rory,
One year ago today – your mother gave birth to you, and in that moment my life was changed forever.
I did not realise what responsibility was before you came along. But as soon as I saw you laying on that hospital bed, that my whole body was overtook by a sense of protection and love that I had never experienced before.
Now I am not saying this first year has been easy – in fact it has been pretty tough. You haven't slept through a whole night yet (but you have constant energy) and I have had to go part time in my job to help your mum around the house and to make sure she gets enough rest. But apart from how tough it has been, it has been without a doubt the best year of my life – its the year I learned who I am through you.
For the first couple of months, I was not really sure how to parent. Parenting IS part instinct, but a lot of it is learning. Your mother is obviously great with children, as it is her job – so I always felt as if I was not pulling my weight enough. But it came to me in time. And I definitely think – now – that I am a fantastic parent.
Now onto my first subject:-
Sleep
You have always been trouble to get to sleep. Your mother would feed you, and if you slept then you would be awake in a couple of hours. So my main job in the nights was to get you back to sleep. There have been many methods as you have grown. The first one – when you were in the first couple of months, was to hold you under your arm pits and basically lift you up and down as if I was curling weights. This would only take a couple of minutes and you would be back to sleep. My other method at this time was to put you in your car seat, play car engine noises through a bluetooth speaker I had installed in the back of it, and rock you back and fore on my lap.
Once you had got past this method, I found my absolute favourite way to get you to sleep – "The Bon Iver Disco". I would take you into your room, the only light being a small flashing disco ball that would cast a pattern on the wall, and I would play either of the first two Bon Iver albums. I would then hold you in my arms and rock you back and fore until you slept. This would sometimes take absolutely hours – but it would always work.
Now the only way I can get you to sleep is to sit you next to me while we watch In The Night Garden episodes over and over. You show your strength through how hard you fight sleep. I like to think its because you don't want to miss out on anything, but I promise you – the only thing that happens when you sleep….is your mum and myself going to sleep.
Swimming
When you were just 3 months old, your mum and I took you to your first swimming lesson. At first I thought it was just something to keep your mum happy, but with every lesson you have improved. You currently will happily dive into your mums arms in the pool, hold on to the railing by yourself, and also swim under water! Its been an honour to watch you learn these skills, you make me very proud (especially because I can't swim very well at all!)
Development
Over the last 3-4 months you have started to find who you are. Not only are you walking, but you are running, crouching and stopping without falling. The first time you had the opportunity to climb the stairs, you were at the top within a minute. You are so smart – and very ahead of where the charts say you should be (we have a list of things you should be doing at 2 years old that you are already doing confidently!)
You can say Mama, Dada, Duck and Dog. And lets not forget the constant "Hiyayayaya".
But the most important thing in your life right now are the god damn rubber ducks. Every bird you see "Duck!" This place is turning into a duck sanctuary with the amount of rubber ducks you got for your birthday.
Family
I can definitely say you are a very loved little man. All your aunties, cousins and grand parents absolutely adore you (and I can't blame them). You are yet to meet your Aunty Katie as she has been living in New Zealand the last year. But she is home next week and is very excited to meet you.
Future
Over the next year – this is what we are going to do. Firstly, its your mum and dads wedding, so you need to look fantastic in the suit and lets hope the day goes without many hitches! Secondly, we need to work on your love of wrestling – at first you were a big wrestling fan (probably because of the fast movement and colours) but this has been forgotten and replaced by In The Night Garden, Paw Patrol and Super Simple Songs. Thirdly, your speech has been coming on so well lately, so I think that is what we are going to see a lot more of by your next birthday. I cant wait to have conversations with you, and be able to teach you things. Finally, Sleep! Thats right. I want to make sure by when you turn TWO that you have at least had one full nights sleep.
You are a fantastic, cheeky, intelligent little star. You are beyond handsome. I love you with every fibre of my being.
Thank you for helping me find who I am.
Until next time kiddo,
Dad.

Chapter Eleven: Tightrope Dreamer
Word Count: 6779
✮ ✮ ✮ ✮ ✮ ✮ ✮
“Be down in a second!” Mabel calls out to Thomas followed by a squeak directed at Riley.
“Meow.” Riley giggles softly, referencing a previous ‘scaredy cat’ comment Mabel made about herself.
Mabel stands by Riley’s bed completely frozen.
“Go on then.” Riley giggles as she gives Mabel a gentle shove. “He’s waiting.”
“Come with me?” Mabel asks hopefully.
“I can’t come with you.” Riley’s soft laughter continues.
Eventually, Mabel does make her way downstairs and opens Jed’s front door. She jumps a little in place when she finds Thomas standing directly on the other side of it.
“Sorry.” He chuckles quietly with a gaze pointed at the ground. He looks up slowly, focussing mainly on her clothes. “Are you in pyjamas?”
“Riley’s pyjamas.” Mabel nods and self consciously folds her arms tightly across her chest, knowing she probably looked ridiculous in sleepwear with the shoes she threw on before coming outside.
“Of course.” Thomas nods as if he needed to provide an answer for what she said. “Are you okay to walk or would you prefer to sit?” Thomas motions to the porch steps.
“Walk.” Mabel says quickly after deducting that it would be the less awkward of options. “We can walk...”
The two begin their strides down the street. Mabel is approximately a metre away from Thomas. A safe and comfortable distance for the redhead but also not too far away that it would raise suspicion with Thomas. Or so Mabel hoped.
“Nice night.” Thomas clears his throat and finally speaks up.
“It’s a comfortable temperature.” Mabel nods but internally she’s cringing at her awkwardness.
“This is weird, isn’t it?” Thomas chuckles nervously after a moment of silence.
“Most social situations are for me.” Mabel’s smile is pained.
“How is it that you’re braver on your own than you are with other people?” Thomas questions. After he sees the change of expression on Mabel’s face he quickly apologises. “That wasn’t supposed to sound so insulting...”
“Being alone is comfortable for me.” Mabel offers up a simple one shoulder shrug. “This right now is my own personal equivalent of riding Tombstone.”
Thomas smiles at the comparison. “So you’re nervous too?”
“Isn’t it obvious?” Mabel exaggerates a cheesy smile. She may be dying of nerves on the inside but at least she was remembering to breathe and respond verbally. She had come so far from when they first sat together at lunch.
“This doesn’t have to be weird.” Thomas shakes his arms and legs as he walks as if he could rid himself of the awkwardness with the silly motion. “Now it’s not weird.” He exhales loudly and turns to Mabel with a smile.
“Sure. It’s not weird at all anymore.” Mabel laughs softly, jokingly affirming his shaking brushed off all the strange tension.
“You’re a nonbeliever.” Thomas smirks. Mabel has to turn her attention back towards the road ahead of them. “Come on. We’ve done this before.”
“Done what before?” Mabel knits her brows.
“Walked home.” Thomas states. “Last weekend, after Chubbie’s.”
“Did you not pick up on an awkwardness then?” Mabel coaxes her head.
“No?” Thomas squints a little. “We talked the whole way back.”
“You talked.” Mabel says. “Does this look familiar?” Mabel turns to him with a small and sweet smile as she nods continuously.
Thomas scratches his head and thinks back to the previous weekend. As it starts to come back to him, he crinkles his nose in disgust. “Did I totally over compensate and just ramble on about complete crap?”
Mabel’s small and sweet smile returns and she nods like before. Thomas chuckles at her making fun of him and he playfully scolds her. “That was just me implementing my advanced knowledge of non weird social interactions.” Thomas shakes his limbs again.
“Alright,” Mabel says feeling more comfortable now. “Teach me your socially confident ways.”
“Well you could start by walking beside me.” Thomas looks down at the space between them.
“I am beside you.” Mabel states.
“No, you’re practically on the other side of the road.” Thomas jokes.
“Okay. Step one: disregard a comfortable amount of personal space.” Mabel says. It takes Thomas a moment to realise she was only jokingly making his ‘advice’ sound offensive but once he spots her soft smile he picks up on a better understanding of the game they’re playing. Dramatically, Thomas side steps closer to Mabel.
“Now we look like two normal teenagers.” Thomas jokes.
“Ah, normal. All I’ve ever aspired to be.” Mabel is playfully sarcastic.
“Another helpful tip is to maybe not run away from people when they’re trying to talk to you...” Thomas grows sheepish again as he tries to segway into the main reason he wanted to chat.
“I didn’t run.” Mabel shakes her head. “I just walked quickly in a direction you weren't...”
“Oh well if that’s the case then I let my emotions get bruised for nothing.” Thomas returns to his lighthearted banter.
“Bruised?” Mabel stutters through her laughter.
“How come you walked away quickly?” Thomas only half laughs in attempt to mask his increasing nerves. “Was it something I said?”
“Well... I just felt like the conversation was going somewhere so I decided to go somewhere else.” Mabel says simply.
Thomas pokes at his chest around where his heart would be. He fakes a light wince. “Yep. Still tender from that bruise.”
Mabel rolls her eyes with a soft laugh. How is it she was so scared of Thomas when he’s actually just a big dork? “I thought you were going to say something that couldn’t be unsaid.”
“You a mind reader or something?” Thomas jokes.
“Maybe.” Mabel says more seriously than she actually meant it.
“Okay, so lets say what you think I was going to say is what I was actually going to say..” Even Thomas finds it difficult to keep up with himself. “What’s so bad about it being said?”
“The part where it changes everything.” Mabel says dramatically as they stop just shy of her front porch.
“What if it’s a good kind of change?” Thomas questions.
“Too risky.” Mabel shakes her head.
“But you still agreed to come down from Riley’s room and talk to me.” Thomas highlights. “Does this mean you’re open to hearing it aloud?”
“Riley suggested I broach the subject of ‘why?’ but now I think it’s a good idea we just go back to the whole smiling and nodding thing.”
“Why?” Thomas is confused. “Why what?”
“Maybe I did grossly misjudge the situation...” Mabel frowns with an embarrassment creeping to the forefront.
“If you thought anything other than me admitting my feelings for you then yes, you got it wrong.” Thomas finally says. He couldn’t beat around the bush any longer.
Mabel’s eyes widen and she slaps a hand over each ear and shakes her head. Thomas gently pulls her arms back down. “Maybe we should sit down and talk now?” Thomas motions to the steps and Mabel is back to silently nodding. She sits first and this time it’s Thomas who puts the distance between them. The teen sits on the top step with his back pressed firmly against the edge of the white rails lining the porch. Mabel fiddles nervously with her fingers as she waits for him to speak.
“Suddenly it’s weird again...” Thomas’ laugh sounds forced and full of nerves.
“Why now?” Mabel blurts out. “That’s a stupid question. I know why now. I mean, I’ve lived in the same tiny town as you for my whole life. Of course I know why you suddenly see me-”
“What are you talking about?” Thomas cuts in.
“I’ve already let my insecurities ruin one great friendship in my life. I cant let those same negative feelings destroy something else.” Mabel shakes her head. “I’m sorry, I won’t.”
“Mabel, I’m not following... At all..” Thomas begs for an explanation.
“Riley.” Mabel stresses. “She is helping me so much with my confidence and I know it’s only been a short amount of time but I already value her friendship so much. I can’t risk tainting that.”
“I like Riley too but what does she have to do with you and me?” Thomas questions.
“You didn’t even know I existed until she showed up.” Mabel lets out a very frustrated breath.
“You really believe that?” Thomas scoffs.
“Yes and I can’t let that thought grow into jealously or some other ugly emotion towards Riley.” Mabel shakes her head again. “I can handle making friends through her, that, I welcome but to think that we started something because of an initial interest you had in Riley- No. Nope. No thank you.”
“You think I like- or liked- Riley?” Thomas looks shocked but a hearty laughter builds.
Mabel frowns, she didn’t enjoy being laughed at especially with such a sensitive topic lingering. “Your interest in her was clear right from her second day at school...”
“I’m sorry.” Thomas clears his throat in an attempt to seize his laughter. “You could not have misread that situation more.”
“Oh really?” Mabel’s frown remains as she folds her arms.
“Promise this will stay between us?” Thomas edges forward slightly.
Mabel gives him a tiny nod.
“Lucas has been fairly... How should I put it... Interested?” Thomas looks all over the place as he speaks. “..In Riley since.. Well.. before she even started at Hillford High.”
“Before?” Mabel’s voice picks up a pitch. It sounded like some stalker situation.
“Riley arrived sometime on the weekend before she started school. Lucas spotted her on the balcony.. and later he mentioned something about her in the yard?” Thomas is fuzzy on exact details. “Anyway, so Lucas had mentioned her to Tris and I already. Then come her first day at school we finally got to see her but when we brought Riley up to Lucas he seemed super weird... Which we later found out was because he accidentally called her a snob..” Thomas takes a moment to laugh. “So Tristan and I basically concluded that Lucas was interested in Riley but since he plays Mr. Cool Guy about everything me and my brother decided to insert ourselves into the situation. So whilst I was showing an interest in Riley, Tris was trying to gauge Lucas’ reactions.”
Mabel furrows her brows and ponders it for a moment. It all sounded pretty ridiculous to her but she knew she couldn’t judge because her and Riley had done similar scheme like things when it came to Thomas. “I think things would be a lot easier if we all just said how we really felt...” Mabel mumbles her thought out loud.
“Kinda what I’m trying to do here.” Thomas says quietly.
“Right.” Mabel giggles softly but her nerves are still present.
“I don’t know what’s worse... The fact that you believe I’m so self involved that I don’t notice people other than my inner circle... Or the fact that you believe you could be overlooked.” Thomas holds Mabel’s gaze. “Now I know we haven’t been best friends or anything but I certainly know who you are.”
Mabel remains quiet, she lowers her gaze into her lap. The whole conversation was making her brain go into overdrive. She didn’t know how to process things quick enough to show emotion.
“What feels like the end is often the beginning...” Thomas says.
Mabel snaps her head up and gives him a quizzical look. “What did you just say?”
“I take it you remember the poem you wrote for your dad..” Thomas grows softer with his approach.
Of course Mabel remembers. It was her first day back at school after her father passed. She brought a poem she wrote for him with the intentions of reading it in front of the whole class but a sad Mabel panicked and ran from the room, throwing the poem in the trash on the way out. That was the beginning of her severe social anxiety. ‘What feels like the end is often the beginning’ was the last line. Something her father told her right before he passed.
“Since no one ever heard that poem aloud you’re either a mind reader or...”
“The person that put it back in your desk?” Thomas finishes her sentence.
“That was you?” Mabel pulls nervously at her bottom lip.
Thomas wears a small but warm smile. “Sorry I didn’t ask you if it was alright to write a short story about him.”
“You would have written about him?” Mabel is quiet and Thomas nods softly. “The tree. I’ve always wondered about the tree.” Mabel is referring to the hand drawn tree that was left on the side of the page, with leafy branches cascading over the poem. A pretty drawing that wasn’t there before the poem showed up in her desk.
Thomas laughs silently. “Do you remember our class field trip to the botanical gardens in the third grade?” He asks.
“Zay got in trouble for picking flowers to give to Vanessa.” Mabel smiles at the memory.
Thomas curls the corner of his mouth upwards too. “We were all supposed to choose a flower we saw and do some sort of report on it. ”
“Of course..” Mabel smiles to herself. “I picked a tree from across the street.”
“You told Ms. Allner you much preferred the trees.” Thomas grins.
“I can’t believe you remember that.” Mabel coaxes her head.
“I told you.” Thomas wears a crooked smile, “It’s insulting to us both if you think  you could be overlooked.”
A silence falls upon the two smiley teens. This one more comfortable than awkward. “So what now?” Thomas finally asks.
“We could practice those steps again?” Mabel suggests bravely.
Thomas looks confused for a second but when Mabel dramatically slides across the step, shortening the distance between them, Thomas catches on and grins.
“Now we look like two normal teenagers.” Mabel smirks.
“Cool.” Thomas chuckles through the word as he holds her gaze.

Riley wakes up the following morning feeling revitalised after a good nights sleep. The New Yorker sits up and looks around her room sleepily. She notices Mabel’s neatly folded clothes on top of Riley’s dresser and suddenly a vision of a nervous Mabel in borrowed sweats and a t-shirt, fumbling to slip on her boots and meet Thomas out front, flows into Riley’s mind. It takes a moment but suddenly it clicks with Riley that Mabel herself was no where to be seen.
Still partially groggy, Riley trots downstairs in search of her friend. Instead of Mabel, Riley finds Jedediah sitting at the dining table reading the newspaper.
“Good morning.” He greets her pleasantly without lifting his gaze from the article he was reading.
“Morning.” Riley says softly. “I don’t suppose you’ve seen Mabel this morning have you?”
Jed looks up with a confused expression. “Never mind.” Riley shakes her head with a smile. She figures Thomas must have walked her home after they spoke. Riley slips in the seat across from Jed and reaches forward into the fruit bowl and settles back into place with a bite of an apple.
Jed puts down his paper and gives his attention to Riley. The old man asks her about the rodeo and all that came afterwards. Happily, Riley engages with him, not sparing a single detail about Lucas’ event. During her excited ramble, Riley called Jed ‘grandpa’ at least three times making him smile a little more each time.
“Anyway...” Riley lets her nervous laughter taper off after her ramble. “Do you want to hang out today?”
“Hang out?” Jed asks like a confused old man and it makes Riley chuckle.
“Yeah.” Riley smiles. “We can go into town, you can show me some of the places you went with grandma? A memory lane tour of sorts.”
“Alright, sure.” Jed nods with a grin.
“Yay.” Riley claps her hands excitedly. “I’m going to get ready.” With that she tosses the remainder of her apple in the bin and races upstairs to get changed.
Riley’s first stop was the bathroom where she brushes her teeth and inspects her face for blemishes. Her complexion is relatively clear other than the small bags under her eyes even despite her goods night sleep.
Riley tugs at a clump of her brunette locks, knowing she should wash it but decides to put it off until that evening. She didn’t want to keep Jed waiting too long. To compensate the ready to be washed hair, Riley takes a section and pulls it into a half up, half down do, with a few of her shorter bits left out at the front to frame her face.
Quickly, Riley changes into a comfy but pretty floral print sun dress. One Topanga purchased for Riley over a year ago but never actually wore before. Then she scoops up the denim vest her mom sent over in the big package, another item Topanga bought her but this was something Riley loved back in middle school. Riley would wear it with everything. With a smile, Riley slips her arms into it. After lacing up a pair of white Chuck Taylor’s, Riley does a little spin and watches as her dress moves around her.
“Riley?” Jed calls loudly from downstairs.
“Coming!” Riley stops her spinning and shouts back. “I wasn’t taking that long was I?” Riley giggles as she bounces down the stairs. She’s only halfway down when she spots Lucas standing by Jedediah. Before the brunette could question it, Jed cuts in with an awestruck expression on his face. “Riley, you look... just like your mom.”
“Said nobody ever.” Riley giggles nervously and points her smile downwards. “Lucas, what are you doing here?” She quickly tries to shift focus.
“I thought we could hang out today.” Lucas smiles.
“Oh, I made plans with Jed...” Riley shifts awkwardly.
“I already told Lucas he can have you for the day.” Jed smiles.
“Do I get a say?” Riley folds her arms and pretends like it bothers her.
“ ’Fraid not,” Lucas smirks.
“Guess I’m hanging out with Lucas then.” Riley gives her grandpa a funny look.
“Have her back by dinner please,” Jed turns to Lucas. “It is a school night after all.”
“Yes Sir.” Lucas nods.
The pair head out the front door and begin walking down the street.
“Have you heard from Thomas or Mabel?” Riley questions, sure she wanted to know what they were doing today but Mabel was on her mind. “I texted Mabel whilst I was getting ready this morning and her response was ‘tomorrow’ with a bunch of excitable emojis.”
“Thomas texted me late last night to say they’re going on a date today.” Lucas says.
Riley’s face lights up with excitement. “He used the word date specifically?”
“Yes.” Lucas laughs at her excitement. “He’s probably taking her to the movies.”
“Hillford Creek has a movie theatre?” Riley raises a brow.
“It’s just a room with a small projector screen and about fifteen fold up chairs.” Lucas laughs.
“Sounds fancy.” Riley jokes.
“Yeah.. I’m pretty sure our ban expired over the past summer so that would be my best guess as to where he’s taking her:”
“Your ban?” Riley questions.
Lucas looks guilty for a moment but explains. “Me and the twins were seeing something and might have been a little too loud. We got banned for a few months”
“Here I was thinking your reputation as ‘the rat pack’ seemed ill-fitting.” Riley jokes.
“Just another thing the town exaggerates.” Lucas shrugs with a laugh.
“Speaking of the rat pack.. Where are the rest of them?” Riley asks. “I figured it being Zay’s last day and all, you’d all have some sort of plans.”
“We’re having a big family dinner tonight. Jacob’s going home tomorrow too.” Lucas explains. “But right now, Thomas is of course with Mabel, Zay and Vanessa are opening old wounds and Tristan is sneaking around with whatever guy he doesn’t want us all to know about yet.”
Riley tries her best not to react to Lucas’ comment about Tristan. The last thing she wanted was to spill his secrets. “So.” Riley pauses. “All our friends are on various romantic endeavours and naturally you thought we should spend the day together?” Riley coaxes her head momentarily as they walk.
“Mhmm.” Lucas nods simply with a smile but his brows knit together and he quickly adds. “In a friendly way.”
“Okay dokay then.” Riley giggles and adds a small skip to her step. “Where are we going today?”
“It’s a surprise.” Lucas says.
“Oh not this again.” Riley chuckles. “The last time you dragged me out of the house we went traipsing through the woods.”
“And that turned out to be a good surprise didn’t it?” Lucas gives her a look to communicate ‘you know I’m right’.
“Fine.” Riley purses her lips. “No more complaints from me.”
The two continue walking down the dirt road until Lucas veers off at his Pappy Joe’s farm. Riley wears a dubious look as she asks, “You know taking me somewhere I’ve already been before doesn’t count as a surprise?”
“It’s not so much the where but the what.” Lucas is a few steps ahead of Riley. She follows in a literal sense but not so much with what he’s saying. “And I’m not taking you back to the inn if that’s what you’re thinking.”
Instead of questioning him further, Riley jogs to catch up. Now beside each other Lucas leads Riley towards the hub of Joe’s farm rather than through it like they would if they were going to the abandoned inn. An excitement building inside Riley although she tries to play it off as nonchalant.
“Now would be the time you start guessing or at least pressing for answers again.” Lucas laughs.
“Farm animals?” Riley tries to act like she’s not that excited.
“Yep.”
“Yay.” Riley giggle whispers to herself.
Lucas throws open the big barn doors and Riley jumps back when a number of chickens cluck and pile out.
“Are they allowed out?” Riley hides behind Lucas.
“They’ll come back for food later.” Lucas cant help but laugh at Riley’s fear.
Riley straightens out her stance once she realises the chickens weren’t all too interested in her. But as Riley goofily followed them around one turned on her quickly and chased the brunette around the barn as she squealed nervously. Lucas is left in hysteric laughter. Once Riley eventually ditches the clucky bird she cowers behind Lucas again. “Okay, maybe we should move on.”
The two then move onto the various pens between the stables and the barn. Riley completely muddies up her converse shoes as she plays with the little piglets in the pen. She also spends time with a goat and a little lamb. Pappy Joe only has a few farm friendly animals as his farm wasn’t reliant on meat, it was the vegetables and eggs that Joseph and Cassidy dealt in at the markets which made Riley really happy to think that she wasn’t playing with someones dinner. The animals he did keep were a personal preference.
“You hungry?” Lucas checks the watch on his wrist. Riley playing around with the animals went on for longer than he expected. It was now past midday.
“I could definitely eat.” Riley nods, all she’d eaten was an apple.
The two enter Pappy Joe’s home. He’s out for the day as he spends most Sunday’s at the market and then running his errands. Riley sits on a wooden stool by the kitchen counter. Lucas stares into the fridge.
“Are you okay with a sandwich?” Lucas asks.
“Sounds perfect.” Riley nods.
Lucas begins retrieving various salad items, bread, condiments etc. all necessary goods for a nice sandwich.
Riley leans forward and pulls the chopping board and tomato closer to her. She begins cutting it into thin slices.
“I saw your face when Jed compared your likeness to your moms.” Lucas casually brings up the topic as he butters bread.
“I don’t take compliments well.” Riley tries to shrug it off quickly.
“It was more than that.” Lucas insists.
“I find it hard to believe.” Riley sighs quietly. "I am very different to my mom. In every way imaginable...She has light hair, light eyes, she’s shorter than me.. Just very different.”
“Jed seemed to think otherwise.” Lucas says.
“He’s old and unreliable.” Riley jokes.
Lucas shares a quiet laugh. “Maybe you reminded him of her in a different way, other than looks.”
“My mom is a big shark lawyer.” Riley eyes Lucas. “Fierce, amazon warrior... She’s a lot like Maya that way... I guess I’ve always been quietly jealous of that.”
“Jed was saying how your mom grew up with a very different lifestyle. You even were surprised to learn about it.” Lucas highlights. “Maybe you share more similarities than you think.”
“I guess I didn’t think of it that way..” Riley knits her brows together in deep thought. “I always thought I was a weirdo like my dad...”
“I don’t know but the way Jed smiled was like he was looking at a memory.” Lucas says.
Riley tries to hide her smile. “Shall we eat outside?”
They gather their prepared sandwiches and two glasses of not so bitter lemonade and head outside. They settle under a shady tree and begin nibbling on their lunch.
“Can I ask you something personal?” Riley takes a sip of her lemonade.
“Sure.” Lucas nods, not even fearing what she may come up with.”
“Why are you a year older?” Riley questions, “I knew you were but I never really thought to ask anyone why that was?”
Lucas rolls his head forward with a slight laugh. “When I got to the first grade, Tommy, Tris and Zay were all starting preschool. I was so jealous that they got to spend all day, everyday together so I pretended like I couldn’t read for the whole first year so they’d hold me back.”
“You purposely flunked the the first grade?” Riley laughs in disbelief.
“Wasn’t the answer you were expecting, was it?” Lucas laughs too.
“I don’t know what I thought, but certainly wasn’t something so.. cute.” Riley giggles.
“Shut up,” Lucas laughs softly and gives Riley a gentle push in the arm. Lucas’ laughter tapers off and he more seriously adds, “I know that me and the guys weren’t exactly saints but we were never town terrors. But after a while I guess we sort of got a reputation, and like everything else, the town exaggerated the drama. So after the story was tweaked and told a few times, fact was forgotten and replaced by stupid stories like I got kicked out of school for a year because of fighting.”
“If it makes you feel any better I will always remember Lucas as a little dork who purposely flunked first grade because he missed his friends.” Riley smirks a little.
“I’m not sure that makes me feel better at all.” Lucas jokes. “So,” Lucas softens, “Do you regret not getting on that plane yet?”
“I reget letting things get so messy in the first place.” Riley sighs heavily. “You know when I was little I wanted to be a tightrope walker?”
“Really?” Lucas gives Riley a quizzical look. He’s unsure how this segwayed naturally.
“Before my little brother was born, my parents took me and Maya to the circus.” Riley explains further. “I was obsessed with the tightrope walker. She wore this purple, sparkly leotard.” Riley laughs softly.
“Ballerina, tightrope walker...” Lucas chuckles. “You have some big dreams.”
“Much like the ballerina thing, my clumsiness proved to be stronger than my desire to walk ropes.” Riley is looking past Lucas as she speaks. “My parents didn’t seem to think it was such a good idea either but Maya... When I asked Maya if she’d run away and join the circus with me, she said ‘whatever you want’. You see that was kind of our thing.” Riley finds Lucas’ gaze again. “Unconditional support... And like I said, I’m realising that that might not be the healthiest thing but I can’t cut Maya out of my life. I felt like the universe was making me choose between this life and my old one.” Riley frowns. “But what I’m realising is that, New York, Texas- It doesn’t matter because I’m Riley wherever I go.”
“That’s what I’ve been trying to say.” Lucas wears a crooked smile.
“I know.” Riley smiles downwards and slowly picks up her gaze again. “It’s just taking me a little while longer to fully understand things.... So to answer your question about missing my flight; I don’t regret being here but I do regret not being there...If that makes any sense...” A nervous laugh leaves her.
“Perfect sense.” Lucas smiles.
“So I just hope that when I do go back, Maya’s willing to forgive me.” Riley says. “So I can be Riley for her again.”
“Riley, you didn’t do anything wrong.” Lucas frowns a little. “You shouldn’t feel bad for reacting to the situation the way you did...”
“Maya’s upset because she feels like I’ve abandoned her. The one person she thought never would.” Riley’s smile barely masks her sadness. “I hope she can understand why I did what I did.”
“She will understand.” Lucas nods.
“And how can you be so sure?” Riley coaxes her head to the side.
“Because you want her to.” Lucas grins. “And ‘whatever you want’ is kind of your thing.”
“You know if the vet thing doesn’t work out you could be like a new Dr. Phil.” Riley jokes. “But less bald and preferably without the moustache.”
“You don’t think I could pull it off?” Lucas playfully brushes his fingers against his bear upper lip.
Riley scrunches up her face and shakes her head.
“Alright then.” Lucas laughs and gets to his feet. He extends a hand out to help Riley up. “Are you ready for the real reason we’re here?”
“The real reason?” Riley accepts his offer and rises to her feet.
Lucas wears a devilish grin as he runs their empty dishes inside. Then Lucas leads Riley into the stables. Riley is immediately surprised by the size of it. The stable was bigger than Pappy Joe’s actual home. There were individual stalls for at least twelve horses. The horses became noisier once the teens entered.
“Horsey's?” Riley asks sweetly.
“I just couldn’t get past the revelation that you’ve never ridden a horse before.” Lucas says as he pats along the cheek of a palomino horse sticking it’s head out of it’s stall.
“I am not riding that.” Riley squeaks with a shake of her head.
“You seemed excited about the horsey’s before.” Lucas gives her a quizzical look.
“Now I’m actually close to the big animal and the thought of patting it makes me nervous.” Riley takes a few steps back.
“This is Sophia.” Lucas says, his face is right beside hers as he pats. “And Sophia wouldn’t hurt a fly.
“I appreciate the effort but I’m good.” Riley nods a little too eagerly. “Really.”
“Just pat her at least?” Lucas holds his hand out and wiggles his fingers, motioning for Riley to come forward.
Riley is reluctant and she’s still pulling herself as far away as she can with every step she takes forward. Cautiously, Riley holds out her hand but pulls it back again when she’s just a few inches shy of Sophia.
“I promise she won't hurt you.” Lucas says soothingly. Riley looks at him dead in the eyes for a moment and she believes him. With a deep breath Riley reaches out and gently strokes where Lucas was previously petting Sophia. The horse doesn’t jolt or react in some big way like Riley had imagined she would.
“See. Harmless.” Lucas smiles.
“You’re right.” Riley smiles too. “Like a big kitty or something.”
Lucas chuckles at the obviously ridiculous comparison and clicks open the latch of Sophia’s stall. Riley jumps back a few steps and Lucas chuckles as he leads the horse out. Riley stands back as Lucas saddles up Sophia and Riley walks off to the side as Lucas leads Sophia into the arena.
Riley remains on the other side of the hip height fence surrounding the arena while Lucas fiddles around with a small barrel. Sophia stands still beside him, patiently waiting. Riley watches as Lucas hooks one foot into the stirrup on the saddle and then swings his leg over. He then looks to Riley with the same devilish grin he wore earlier. “Your turn.”
“Nope.” Riley shakes her head. “Not going to happen.”
“It won't be as scary if we do it together.” Lucas holds onto the reins with one hand and extends out his other for Riley.
“I’m in a dress.” Riley looks for excuses to get out of it.
“I won't look.” Lucas says dramatically.
“I didn’t think you would but now I am and it’s weird.” Riley folds her arms.
“Sit side saddle then.” Lucas suggests. “Like a princess.”
“Mmm, princess isn’t really my thing.” Riley shakes her head goofily.
“You’ve wanted to be a ballerina and a tightrope walker but you expect me to believe you’ve never thought about being a princess?” Lucas gives Riley a knowing look.
“Maybe when I was twelve.” Riley scoffs through a nervous smile.
“Today all your dreams come true.” Lucas waves his hands theatrically.
“I don’t know.” Riley shakes her head.
“I promise you will be okay.” Lucas waves his still extended hand.
Riley takes another deep breath and climbs into the arena. She uses the barrel Lucas set up to give herself the extra height. Riley takes Lucas’ hand and she allows him to help her onto the horse behind him. Riley was in a dress but it had  enough give in it to protect her modesty as she sat with one leg over each side.
“See it’s not so bad?” Lucas says once Riley’s safely on the horse. He flicks the reins gently so Sophia would walk but it was too quick for Riley and it spooked the New Yorker.
“Not so fast.” Riley grips tightly at Lucas’ shirt.
“Sorry.” Lucas smiles to himself. Riley secures her arms around Lucas’ stomach  and the two slowly make their way around the arena. Riley’s tension slowly fades and a bubbling excitement builds. By the end of it there’s no nerves coming from Riley just a blissful happiness like she felt twirling in the grass her first weekend in town.
Once they’re done, Lucas gets off Sophia first and then helps Riley down.
“Was that so bad?” Lucas questions once their feet are both firmly on the ground.
“The complete opposite.” Riley’s smile is still wide.
Lucas takes Sophia’s lead and ties her up to the fence. He begins to take off her saddle so he could brush her before putting her back in the stable.
“I think you could do it by yourself next time.” Lucas says.
“I don’t know about that.” Riley chuckles. As Lucas was occupied with Sophia Riley lets her eyes wander around and then she finally settles with a crazy idea in mind. The brunette wiggles the fence to see how sturdy it is.
“What are you doing?” Lucas questions.
“You said ‘today all your dreams come true’,” Riley mimics Lucas previous theatrics. “I braved the big horsey so now I’m going to brave this pretend tightrope.”
“Oh boy.” Lucas quickly makes his way beside Riley just as she’s climbing the fence. The brunette tries to find her footing along the top rail, with arms spread out at her sides for balance. Lucas hovers close by her with arms out prepared to catch her if she falls.
“I’m a natural.” Riley wobbles through her first few steps. Lucas ghosts her along the way.
“Maybe I should buy you a purple, sparkly leotard.” Lucas jokes.
“This isn't so bad.” Riley gains a little more confidence with each step she takes. “I bet I could do this with my eyes closed.”
“Please don't.” Lucas panics from the safety of the ground.
“How about with one leg then?” Riley bravely kicks one foot back. Ultimately resulting in her downfall. “Ah, pineapple.” Riley squeaks as she goes tumbling into Lucas, pinning him to the ground. The New Yorker rolls off him with a nervous chuckle and checks if he’s okay.
“That hurt more than falling off Tombstone.” Lucas jokes still lying on the ground.
“Hey!” Riley playfully smacks his chest.
Lucas sits up. They’re both directly beside each other but facing opposite directions. Riley leans back so she can see Lucas face, his clothes all dusty from landing on the dirt ground.
“Thank you for today.” Riley smiles.
“Don’t mention it.” Lucas matches her toothy grin. “I couldn’t have you feeling like you were missing out on anything.”
The two hold each others gazes for longer than necessary. Another undeniable moment between them. Riley notices Lucas edge forward slightly so she quickly reacts by faking a cough.
“I should probably get back to Jed.” Riley nervously fiddles with her hair. “I can help him with dinner or something...”
“Sure.” Lucas shifts anxiously too. “I can walk you back?”
“No, it’s fine.” Riley insists as she stands up. “You have to put Sophia away and then you have your family thing you need to prepare for...”
“Okay, sure.” Lucas rubs at the nape of his next and Riley scurries off. Brushing the dirt off her dress as she goes.
The brunette calms down a little during her walk and tries to compose her angst before entering Jed’s house. A few deep breaths later and Riley swings open the door.
Jed is sitting on the sofa. “Good day?” He asks.
“Yeah, great.” Riley nods, she intended to bypass him and head straight for her room where she could freak out about how she freaked out in peace but Jed stops her.
“I got this down from the attic.” Jed pats a big leather looking book on his lap. “I have a bunch of your mothers things up there.”
It takes Riley a moment but she eventually realises that it’s a photo album.
“After seeing you this morning, I wanted to find a picture I took of your mom back in high school.” Jed smiles and he waves an individual picture that he’s holding.
Riley almost forgets about her awkward parting with Lucas and sits by Jed on the sofa. The old man hands Riley the picture. The brunette carefully holds the corners of the photograph and is taken back by the person goofily posing. It’s Topanga around Riley’s age, maybe a little younger. She’s poking her tongue out but what captured Riley’s attention the most is her outfit, almost identical to the one Riley wears now. A sundress, denim vest, sneakers. Even right down to the half up, half down ponytail she wears in her hair.
The two of them flip through the rest of the photo album together that’s labeled ‘1992-1998′ which was Topanga’s preteen - teen era. (in a flimsy bmw timeline where they skip 2 years at a time lol) Riley looks at Topanga in lace dresses and bulky boots with crimped hair. A visual Jedediah had described to Riley when they spoke her second weekend in town but a visual she almost couldn’t believe until actually seeing it.
“Mom was a little weirdo.” Riley smiles as her fingers brush over a photo of Topanga with lipstick drawn over her face.
“She was- is- unique.” Jed says as he too stares fondly at the picture. “And so are you.”
Riley gives him a warm smile for the compliment.
“I have a whole lot more of your mothers things in the attic.” Jed says. “Maybe you could clean up before dinner and we can go through a few more.”
“I’d love that.” Riley nods. The brunette runs upstairs to shower, wash her hair and change into some comfy clothes. Excited to look at her mothers past some more, Riley returns downstairs with a wide grin but it quickly fades once she finds Jed out on the back porch coughing quite viciously. He had stepped out so he wouldn’t raise suspicion with Riley but when she finds him spurting out a goopy red into the palm of his hand panic takes over her. A worst case scenario had already formed in her head.
“Grandpa?” Riley asks at almost a whisper.
“Riley.” He spins to her with pain in his eyes that he’d caught her like this.
“You didn’t call mom randomly a few months ago, did you?” Riley remains frozen in the doorway. “You called her to... To tell her you’re sick?”
“Maybe we should go inside.” Jed says solemnly.
End notes: Firstly, sorry for that ending dslkghf secondly, SORRY I TAKE SO DAMN LONG TO POST I HATE ME TOO OKAY!!!!!!!!

She Drives Me Crazy
Roommates AU Part 1/2: Spencer and Emily live together and have a very agreeable arrangement between the two of them.
Summary: In Spencer’s eyes, they were good roommates. They didn’t bug or pester, they tried their best to communicate, and of course there was the matter of their sleeping together. That wasn’t going to blow up in their faces at all.
Author’s Note: The rating on this one is a littler higher than most of my fics. There’s no graphic sex scenes, as I basically do a literary fade-to-black, but there is some pretty explicit references to sex, and some heated scenes between Spencer and Emily. Just warning in case that’s not your thing.
Spencer and Emily were shockingly good roommates.
Both of them were studious but not holed up without a social life, timely when paying the bills, good at splitting the groceries and never – well, almost never – stole the other’s food. Both were organized without being anal, and when Spencer was overly stressed and thus became like a tornado, Emily understood. She was a good roommate. Who else would freeze full meals with a note telling Spencer how to properly reheat? Honestly, sometimes Emily was the only reason Spencer would remember to eat during midterms or finals. And Spencer paid her back in kind, making sure Emily got eight hours of sleep and a balanced diet during champs.
And yeah occasionally one would go a little off the rails, or they’d fight, but it always evened out. And their fights were always well intentioned.
They had the same taste in wine. Or whiskey. Or gin…or…well, the list went on. They generally liked the same movies and tv, and Spencer didn’t mind suffering through Emily’s guilty pleasures, and for her part, Emily had not once complained when sitting through countless documentaries or period pieces.
Yeah, Spencer thought. They were good roommates. They didn’t bug or pester, they tried their best to communicate, and of course there was the matter of their sleeping together.
Right. That thing. The no-strings-attached, friends-with-really-good-benefits, I-scratch-your-itch-you-scratch-mine deal they had between them.
It was an efficient, purely logical deal. They were in proximity to each other more often than not, obviously, and they were young and attractive, and they’d known each other forever. They were busy people with needs and this fulfilled those needs. Nothing complicated about it, in Spencer’s eyes.
They worked as well in bed as they did as roommates, to be honest. Spencer’s relentless, perfectionist nature ensured Emily got off at least once, and the more experience she got with Emily’s body, the easier she was able to read it. It was like Latin, or French, or any of the other languages Spencer took. She studied, and worked her way to fluency.
For her part, Emily’s compassion and tendency to give, made her a great partner, and something about her – maybe it was the eyes – made Spencer stop overthinking, get out of her head and get what she needed.
Basically, it worked well, it made their lives easier, and no one but them knew about it. Spencer wasn’t sure they’d ever tell Hanna or Aria. She didn’t see that going well.
“Spencer?”
Spencer looked up from her spot on the couch, where she was curled up with a book just in time to see Emily walk in the apartment, looking weary, and dropping her backpack on the floor as she kicked the door closed.
“Welcome home,” Spencer said, turning back down Herodotus’ histories.
“I had,” Emily said, toeing out her shoes, “the worst day.”
Spencer’s quirked one brow, unable to contain a smile. She was used to hearing that. And she knew what usually followed after. They’d only been doing this for three months, give or take, but routines had started popping up. “Oh?”
“Don’t get excited, Hastings, I’m being serious,” Emily said, scowling at her.
Spencer dropped her joking demeanor and tucked her feet up so Emily had room to sit on the couch. Emily dropped down, sighing, and raked her hands through her hair. The thought flittered through Spencer’s mind that Emily was probably the prettiest girl that Spencer had ever seen.
“Want to talk about it?”
Emily just sat there for a moment, steaming.
“My psych professor is an asshole, my partner in peer review today was a homophobic psycho and I did not get enough sleep last night to put up with this,” she said.
Spencer frowned, putting her book down. “What’s with your partner?”
Emily shrugged, “Just what it sounds like.”
“Give me name, I will destroy her. Quickly and easily.”
It, at the very least, drew laugh out of Emily. That always sounded wonderful. Emily leaned over, dropping her head onto Spencer’s shoulder. Then she mumbled something inaudibly.
“What?”
Emily sighed, resting her chin on Spencer’s arm, looking up at her. “I said, thanks, but I’d rather just forget about it. Her and Professor Whitt”
Spencer nodded, pressing a perfectly platonic kiss to Emily’s forehead. “Let’s have a night in. Breakfast for dinner. Shitty tv. Beer. You can forget all about Professor Shit and your English partner.”
“Sounds perfect.”
“Where’s your roommate at?”
Spencer turned to look at her friend Katie. They’d bonded in their freshman year history class when they had to suffer through everyone’s idiocy together. Their extreme exasperation had solidified and casual friendship that had lasted two years so far.
“Emily? I don’t know, she was just here,” Spencer said, looking around the party they were at. They were all squeezed into the apartment of Katie’s brother Peter. Most people Spencer only knew on acquaintance-basis, then there were a handful of strangers, and a slightly smaller handful of people she actually liked.
Emily was here somewhere, Spencer didn’t keep track of her every movement at these things, but she also knew more of these people than Spencer did, so she had more to do here.
“You know, when I first met you two I thought you were dating?” Katie asked, punctuating her thought with a giggle.
Spencer snorted. “Seriously?”
“Seriously.”
They hadn’t even been sleeping together when Katie met them. Ridiculous.
As if on cue, a very, very tipsy Emily appeared from the crowed, a little flushed, lips a little swollen, and bubbling with laughter.
“Hi,” she said. Other partygoers were crowding against her on either side and Spencer couldn’t help but chuckle at the sour looks Emily gave them. Then she promptly swooped down so she was sitting on Spencer’s lap. “Let’s go home soon.”
“What?” Spencer asked, trying to think through her rum-haze to focus on not resting her hand on Emily’s hip, or waist, or legs. “It’s only eleven.”
“Yeah,” Emily replied, eyes not focused on anything in particular as she talked, “But I’m bored. Everyone here is boring.”
Spencer looked over at Katie, who only raised her eyebrows as if to say, See? Spencer rolled her eyes, because she was being ridiculous.
“If they’re so boring,” Katie started, “whose lipstick are you wearing?”
Emily sighed like Katie was being purposefully stupid, “A mistake’s.”
Spencer laughed even harder. Emily was always funny when she got a little drunk. She wavered between giggly and cranky, blunt and overly affectionate. It was always a ride.
“Alright,” Spencer said, nudging Emily’s hip so she’d get off of her, “let’s go.”
Emily stood up, sliding her hand into Spencer’s to pull her up and then guide her out of the party. She didn’t let go even when they were outside, walking the two blocks to their own building. She moved their hands, still clasped, so that Spencer’s arm was around her and she could rest her head on Spencer’s shoulder. The chill from the early-October air was actually pleasant after being in the stuffy, overcrowded apartment.
“Good night?” Spencer asked.
“Yeah.”
They walked into their building, and it wasn’t until they were in the elevator that Emily talked again.
“It’s about to be a great night.”
Spencer looked over at Emily. Her eyes were dark, and a smile teased across her lips. Spencer felt warmth surged through her in anticipation. As the doors slid open, Emily slipped her hand into the back pocket of Spencer’s pants and pressed her side up against her as they walked.
As soon as they were in the apartment, door locked and closed, Emily was pawing at Spencer’s shirt, pulling it up and over her head.
Spencer wasn’t sure which girl it was that had been making out with Emily, getting her hot and bothered but failing to seal the deal, but whoever she was she left an itch that Spencer was getting to scratch. Maybe Spencer should send her a thank you card.
“Hey,” Spencer breathed as she combed her fingers through Emily’s hair, tugging just hard enough so that Emily’s head dipped back, extending the column of her neck so Spencer could leave a trail of messy kisses there, “apparently when Katie met us, she thought we were a couple.”
Emily laughed and Spencer could feel the sensation under her lips, sending sparks down her spine.
“That’s ridiculous,” Emily said, grabbing onto Spencer’s waist as she guided them both to her own bedroom.
Spencer had thought the same thing, but Emily’s dismissive tone made her heart squeeze for a second. Spencer didn’t let herself pause to wonder why. She chalked it up to alcohol, or just a weird quirk, and focused on the way Emily kept canting her hips forward to find friction.
After all, Spencer thought as she carefully undid Emily’s pants and started kissing down her body, the thought of us being together is ridiculous.
Spencer spent most of freshman year studying by being holed up in room for hours. Now, though, she found she studied best in the living room of their apartment, stacks of books around her, with color-coded post-its and highlighters, and Emily on the other end of the couch, doing her own work.
Currently, Emily was at one end, typing up an essay, her legs stretched across the length of the couch and resting on Spencer’s lap as she annotated Anna Karenina.  She hated Tolstoy, but she would get through this if it killed her. Which it might.
“Hey,” Emily said, nudging Spencer with one of her feet, “pass me a twizzler.”
Spencer obliged, still mostly paying attention to her book. “I’m gonna make coffee in a little bit, you want some?”
She didn’t have to look up from the book to know that Emily was giving her a pointed look.
“If you drink coffee you’re gonna be up all night and be miserable tomorrow.”
“Well, then, that’s my cross to bear.”
Emily rolled her eyes, but she was smiling, and she went back to writing her essay.
Aria and Hanna visited in November for Emily’s birthday. Which meant no sex for Spencer and Emily. Well, no sex with each other.
“I still can’t get over how cute your place is, my apartment is so crappy,” Aria sighed, grabbing her third glass of wine.
“Yeah, it’s nice. Spencer and I agree on most decorating decisions. Though our first big fight as roommates was over throw pillows. So,” Emily said, nudging Spencer.
“Typical,” Hanna grinned, looking at both of them. “I’m so glad we all got together, though, it feels like ages.”
She wasn’t wrong. Between internships in the summer and family vacations over breaks, it was hard to get them all in the same place at the same time. And reunions over skype just didn’t feel the same.
They spent the rest of the night talking about Hanna’s fashion design classes, her bitchy classmates, and how glad they all were to be out of Rosewood. Hanna bugged them about how single they were, and Spencer was almost surprised at how good Emily’s poker face was.
The next morning, which was Emily’s actual birthday, they all got ready to go to the local greasy spoon for breakfast.
“Em, hurry up. You may be the birthday girl but we’re hungry out here,” Spencer called.
“Is it cold out?” was Emily’s answering reply.
“I told you the weather four times. I’m not telling you what to wear, you’re an adult!”
Hanna rolled her eyes, “God, could you two be any more married?”
Spencer thought about being offended for half a second, but she had to admit that the bickering, which wasn’t too bad, and was always quickly forgotten, made for a strong case against her. She just let it slide.
Breakfast went smoothly enough. Hanna kept trying to get the waiter’s number for Spencer, but if she was being honest, Spencer was almost numb to Hanna’s antics at this point. Hanna did get the number, and made Spencer take the scrap of paper with the digits.
Spencer just rolled her eyes and stole a bite of pancake from Emily’s plate.
The apartment felt strangely empty once Aria and Hanna left. It felt like a relief and sad all at once. Spencer had a small hole in her heart and a three-hour lecture the next day that she was absolutely dreading.
“Thanks for a good birthday,” Emily said, smiling brightly at Spencer. “I loved my presents.”
“I am literally the best at buying gifts, so I should hope so,” Spencer shrugged. “But seriously, you’re welcome. You know I want you to have a great birthday.”
“It was great. I’m glad we got everyone back together,” Emily said. Then her tongue darted out, moistening her lips. “But it’s also kind of nice that they’re gone.”
“Yeah?”
Spencer was only half paying attention, mostly focusing on loading the dishwasher. Until she felt Emily pressed up against her back, hands settling on her hips.
Spencer closed the dishwasher and turned around to look at Emily. “Now?”
Emily gave her a look that was somehow innocent and filthy at the same time. “It’s my birthday,” she shrugged.
Spencer barked out a laugh, but couldn’t fault her logic. If the tables were turned and it was Spencer’s birthday, she’d probably want the same thing. So she’d oblige. She’d let Emily lead her back into her bedroom, and then inevitably wake up in her own bed the next morning. They never shared a bed overnight after sex. It was one of their unspoken rules, one of their boundaries that kept their friendship from being awkward.
But when Emily was sprawled out on the bed, writhing and sweaty and urging Spencer on, it was hard to complain about sleeping arrangements. Her laser-sharp focus was on Emily, and Emily alone.
The Hastings Annual Christmas Party was really just for show. It was a time for Peter and Veronica to show off their house, their family, their money, their class. They decked the house from roof to basement, opened the doors to basically all of Rosewood, dressed up nice and pretty, and always ensured that Melissa and Spencer were there to complete the pretty picture.
Despite the performative nature of the party, Spencer did enjoy it. The house felt cozy and festive, and as long as she avoided people she didn’t like, it was a good time. She could get a little buzzed and eat gingerbread and listen to her favorite Christmas carols.
Ashley Marin was there. And the Montgomerys, and the Fields. Hanna and Caleb were milling around somewhere. Aria hadn’t come back for Winter Break yet.
Emily was currently caught up in a conversation with her mother and also Veronica Hastings. The Hastings adored Emily, understandably, and the Fields loved Spencer, and both families were beyond thrilled that they were both living together.
Every so often Emily would look over at Spencer, their gazes locking, and offer a small, mischievous smile.
She was doing a shockingly good job of pretending she was stone-cold sober in front of their mothers.
Something about the evening – maybe the spiked eggnog Hanna made her drink, or the Holiday Cheer – made Spencer feel bold, and she stood up from her perch on the couch, not bothering to pull down her skirt to a more acceptable length, and strode over to Emily, smiling politely at her mother and Pam Fields before plucking the champagne glass from Emily’s fingers and take a sip.
“Seriously?” Emily asked, making to grab it, but Spencer was to fast, sinking another sip before giving a cheeky smile and handing it back. “Get your own.”
She didn’t sound too irritated, so Spencer didn’t feel bad. Their mothers were laughing at them. Spencer shifted just a little closer, letting her leg brush against Emily’s, because she was craving the skin contact but needed to be subtle about it.
“Spencer,” Veronica said, drawing Spencer’s attention away from the curve of Emily’s back that was very visible in her dress, “Ms. Thompson is leaving, will you go find her coat?”
Spencer nodded, moving away from Emily and towards the den, where all of the coats were being kept. There was a toy train running around the low-shelving in the den, and fake snow had been deposited almost everywhere. She could hear the echo of Johnny Mathis from the rest of the house, but the chattering and the closed door muffled it.
There were coats everywhere. What had Ms. Thompson been wearing? Some ugly, garish, red thing, if she was remembering correctly. All baubles and fake fur. Spencer was so focused on finding the coat that she didn’t even hear the door open and then close once more. She found the coat, finally, but before she could turn around, something icy cold pressed against her shoulder.
Spencer jumped, nearly dropping the coat, and whirled around to see Emily, with a new champagne flute in one hand and her own in the other. The hand with the new champagne was outstretched, clearly having been the culprit.
“Payback, huh?” Spencer asked.
“Bringing you a gift,” Emily quipped with a smile, offering the glass to Spencer.
Spencer smiled as she took a sip, watching Emily sway a little bit. Spencer’s eye caught sight of a little sprig of green over Emily’s head.
“Hey. Look up.”
Emily did as told, and when she spotted the mistletoe, an unreadable expression crossed her face. “We shouldn’t…” she said slowly.
“Right. Of course,” Spencer agreed. But when Emily looked back at her, biting her lower lip and looking torn, Spencer gripped the ugly jacket in her hands harder. “Then again, it is tradition.”
“True,” Emily agreed. “It would be festive. We don’t wanna be Scrooges.”
“Certainly not.”
“Spencer?”
“Yeah?”
“Just kiss me.”
Spencer didn’t need to be told twice, and closed the gap between them, swiftly setting down her drink and then lifting that hand to cup Emily’s face and hold her close. They didn’t usually kiss like this. They never kissed unless there was sex involved, and they usually spent most of their time kissing almost any other part of the other’s body except for their lips. Another of their unspoken rules.
Still, it was familiar enough, feeling startlingly intimate, while still making Spencer’s whole body hum. She teased at Emily’s lips, tugging just a little on the bottom one, and when Emily moved to deepen the kiss, Spencer pulled back, drawing a small whine out of Emily that she loved. It made it that much harder to stop.
“We should, uh, probably get back to the party,” Spencer said, lowering her hand and settling it on Emily’s bare back. They didn’t do this. They weren’t…they were friends who occasionally used each other to get off. “Ms. Thompson needs her coat.”
Emily licked her lips, slowly, and nodded. Then she looked down at the coat for the first time. “That is the ugliest coat I’ve ever seen.”
Spencer couldn’t help it – she laughed a little too hard at that. It was too true.
She let her hand drop away from Emily’s skin, and they both took a step back. They shared a small smile before picking up their drinks again and slipping back into the party without a word.
Spencer gave Ms. Thompson her lovely coat back, and found Hanna and Caleb. Emily was off…somewhere.
“We might head out soon,” Caleb said, looking down at Hanna who was tucked against his side. “She may have had one too many cups of your spiked Eggnog.”
Hanna hit his side, affectionately, and looked back at Spencer. “He just has no reason to stay now that the sugar cookies are gone.”
Spencer shook her head, smiling. “Go whenever you need too. We’re gonna hang out in a few days anyway. And it’s mostly old people here now anyway, so I’d get out before you get roped into a conversation about crochet.”
Both Hanna and Caleb looked horror-stricken for half a moment, before sharing a look and nodding. Spencer knew she was right. Better to get out of dodge than be stuck talking to one of the older people who always stuck around too long. Even her own parents hated having to put up with them.
Of course, it wasn’t just old people yet. Their parents were all still here, Melissa was around here with a few of her friends. But the party was seriously lacking in people their own age.
“Mom?” Spencer asked, once Hanna and Caleb had gone to find their coats and some cookies to go, “have you seen Emily?”
Veronica looked around absently, “I think she went upstairs.”
Spencer nodded and slipped upstairs, trying to find Emily. She opened the door to her bedroom to see Emily smiling down at a picture of them, Hanna, and Aria from high school graduation. Spencer cleared her throat to announce her presence.
Not even Spencer’s room was spared from Veronica’s festive decoration mania. Soft lights had been strung throughout. Now, when they were the only lights on, it cast a soft glow over the room. And a few, intricate, glass snowflakes that had been hung from the ceiling also caught the light.
“Hi,” Emily said, and when Spencer looked at her, she saw how dark her eyes were. She swallowed thickly. “Got distracted.”
“No worries. You going home soon?”
“Trying to get rid of me?” Emily teased. She turned to face Spencer fully, and Spencer had to take a moment.
Emily had pulled her hair out of her updo, letting it billow down her shoulders. Her dress, backless and clingy, was breathtaking. Her heels only accentuated her legs, and the glow from the lights made her shine.
“Not at all,” she said, stepping further into the room and closing the door. Emily dragged her own eyes up Spencer’s frame, taking her sweet time, and making heat pool in Spencer’s stomach. “What?”
Emily shook her head, stepping out of her heels. “I’m literally dying right now.”
“You could not have used that word more incorrectly.”
Emily rolled her eyes, fondly, and stepped forward, stealing Spencer’s lips in a frenzied kiss. Spencer responded in kind, reaching behind herself to lock her bedroom door before bringing her hands back to start to lift Emily’s dress higher.
There were still people downstairs. Half of their neighborhood, their parents, probably Hanna and Caleb, Melissa and her friends. This felt different. The first time it didn’t feel so secret, yet it also felt wildly more intimate.
Spencer backed Emily up against the bed, her brain feeling hazy. This was the first time it didn’t stem from needing to scratch a random itch. They had put each other in this place. They had been the one driving the other wild.
Emily pulled back, moving them so Spencer was seated on the edge of the bed, and Emily moved to straddle her. Spencer, per usual, raked her hands through Emily’s dark hair, feeling flushed as Emily’s hands ran over her, trying to touch every inch of skin that she could.
Spencer stilled her hands for a moment, causing Emily to pause everything, and look down into Spencer’s eyes, breathing hard.
“Happy Holidays,” Spencer whispered, and Emily cracked a smile. Spencer raked her fingers down Emily’s back, but tried not to hurt her. Emily sat above her, glowing and gentle, and Spencer’s heart squeezed. Then Emily leaned forward, so Spencer was laying on the bed, and angled their mouths together once more.

 MASTERLIST
The past two years had been something close to hell for you. You thought that when you began to work at Star Labs, your life would be in order. You would finally be done with school, plus have a good paying job straight out of college. You were honestly so excited to begin working at Star Labs. Harrison Wells had been a role model to you the whole time you were in college. You actually took the classes that you did in hopes of getting hired.
So, when you got the call that you were hired, you were ecstatic. You were finally going to be working beside the man who you had looked up to for most of your teenage and young adult life. After working for a week however, you realized that it was going to be even better than you expected. Dr. Wells had taken a liking to you, taking you under his wing and training you himself.
When Cisco began working at Star Labs, you were the one who was chosen to give him the tour; not that you minded. You and Cisco became friends from the moment the two of you met. While he was actually older than you, his excitement had reminded you of yourself when you started working there. The tour was like a breath of fresh air, distracting you from all of the other things you needed to get done that day.
Ever since that day, you and Cisco had been attached at the hip. You worked together most of the time, that was until Cisco had been moved to start helping with the particle accelerator while you had been stuck working as basically an assistant to Dr. Wells. Now, don't get it wrong, you loved your job. Even though you were pretty much just his assistant, you also got to help Harrison with his formulas, giving him ideas on how to make things run more smoothly.
The day that the accelerator broke changed everything. Star Labs went from a wonderful place where there was people everywhere, to it just being you, Dr. Wells, who was now in a wheelchair, Cisco, and Caitlin. You didn't really mind all that much, it was just an huge amount of change that happened in the span of a few weeks. It shocked you to your core. You were never really that great with change, but then again, who was?
Things moved slow, the lot of you mostly just cleaning the labs up and trying to get everything restarted. Then, Barry got transferred to Star Labs. At first, you hated it. Star Labs was not a hospital, so why the heck did you have some guy in a coma sitting in the middle of your lab space. Whenever you asked, Harrison just told you to trust him. So that's exactly what you did. You just sat around, got everyone coffee, and organized papers while you waited for Barry to wake up.
As time went on, the group of you got closer. So you can imagine the shock that you felt when you found out that the Harrison Wells you thought you knew, wasn't who he said he was. It was even worse due to the fact that you had known before everyone else. Eobard had forced you to keep his secret until it came out on its own, and it was the hardest thing you ever had to do. You don't even know how you managed to keep it a secret for so long.
When the secret came out and Eobard was finally gone, it was like a weight was lifted off of your shoulders. You didn't have to keep it from everyone anymore, you could finally express the fear and anger that you had been keeping in for so long. The best part about it, was that Cisco had been with you through it all. All of the late nights spent talking on the phone because you had a nightmare about it and you couldn't shake it. You had begun to fall for him.
The day started out normal. You headed to work, picking up coffees for the team like always. When you walked in, everything was in place. You greeted everyone with a hello, passing out coffees before taking your place at the desk next to Cisco. It wasn't until a few hours later that everything got weird. You and Cisco were just talking, you leaning against the railing of the desk as the two of you laughed about something that Cisco had said.
Then he walked in. You froze in place as your eyes landed on him, Harrison Wells. The guy who had been in all of your nightmares, the guy that gave you hope for your future and then crushed it in the palm of his hand. As your breath caught in your throat, Cisco's eyes furrow, before he follows your gaze. He freezes for a moment two, before he turns, his stature instantly turning into a protective one as he stands in front of you.
Just as you begin to break down and Cisco gets ready to pretty much murder the strange man they thought they had gotten rid of so long ago, Barry walks in. Cisco instantly becomes confused again at the fact that Barry seemed so casual, so comfortable around the guy who wanted to kill him. So instead of wasting time figuring out what was up, Cisco turns, pulling you into his arms as you try to prevent the oncoming panic attack.
Once Barry's eyes land on you, which takes longer than expected, he instantly begins apologizing, explaining the situation and how even though it looked like Harrison Wells/Eobard, it in fact was not. It was his Earth-2 counterpart. While you understood, you still wanted to be as far away from the Harrison Wells that was standing in front of you, so with one look at Cisco, he nodded as he grabbed your hand and led you out of the room.
Seeing you like that again, killed him. Cisco had fallen for you, hard. You were constantly on his mind. You lit up his whole day with just a smile. You had cared for him in a way that no one ever had. You were everything to him, but he felt like he was practically nothing to you. Now, obviously this wasn't true, he meant just as much to you as you did to him. The only problem was that he didn't know this; he probably never will.

Hi! We are going for a long vacation to Hungary by car. (I live in the UK but I'm a Hungarian national). My car (UK registered) insurance will expire while we'll be in Hungary. I was trying to get a new insurance before we leave but my current insurer will only give a renewal quote 21 days before it expires(which means we already be abroad) and they will only give my proof of bonus then as well. What are my options? Can I get a new insurance without losing 1 year of no claim bonus?
4 years after DUI... insurance?
so when i was 21 i got a dui (it's called an oui here in Maine, but same thing). PLEASE DONT JUDGE ME I KNOW I WAS YOUNG AND STUPID. anyway, i ended up selling my car to pay for the whole mess since my license was getting suspended anyway. since then i have been a happy bicycle commuter! now the time has come for me to become an adult woman again and get my license back because i have enrolled in a college that is not in biking distance. I have signed up, paid for, and in 2 weeks will be taking the DEEP class required by the state of Maine in order to be licensed again. basically i am curious about my insurance premiums. i haven't had my license for almost 4 years, but i have read online that your insurance will have to be sr22 and all expensive and whatnot for THREE years. also, i have since turned 25 and will be 26 soon, so i expect a rate decrease from that. i guess my question is: have i managed to bypass the higher insurance rates because it has been 4 years? if so, it almost seems too good to be true. i am highly suspicious. can anyone give me some insight as to what to expect when purchasing my insurance? thanks chums""

What kind of Life Insurance is out there for the Elderly? 70 years old and up.
I've seen some on TV and for the life of me, I can't remember all of what's out there. So far, there is no life insurance on my husband's mother and he and I are wanting to take out life insurance on her. What kind of life insurance is out there for ppl 70 years and up that does not require a medical background? She has a bad hip, smokes like a turned over train, and she hasn't had a physical in aprox. 15-20 years. And she has no assets of any kind to help with expenses if she should pass unexpectantly. Am i paying too much for car insurance?
I am in my early 30s. A single male, no kids. I have a pretty much spotless driving record. The only ticket i have had in the past 10 years that i can think of off hand was for not using a turn signal, that was over a year ago. Other than that, nothing in around 10 years. No claims on my insurance in over 10 years either. I drive a 2001 Ford ZX2, its a compact car-for those not familiar with it , it would be similar to a Chevy Cavalier or Dodge Neon. Oh, im paying $700 every 6 months for full coverage car insurance through Nationwide. I have been with them ever since i started driving. This seems like alot. Is it? My friends tell me im overpaying, yet when i call around other places to get quotes i never find anything cheaper. In fact several places have told me to stay where im at. I dont have a problem paying it, but im just trying to find out if this sounds about right and fair as far as the price goes. Anyone out there a insurance agent?""

About how much is high point auto insurance a month?
Well, I just recently got my license and I wanted to buy a car, but my mom said that it's a bad idea and one of the reasons is because of how expensive insurance is. Motorcycle insurance?
I'm 18 years old and without taking all the time to go through and get a quote I was wondering what a ballpark guess would be for the amount it would cost for a year's worth of motorcycle insurance. The bike it would be for would be the Kawasaki Ninja 250R. It's a pretty small and compact sport bike with no too much power to spike my coverage prices I'm just concerned with my age the price will be relatively high. If anyone knows what state farm or geico is charging 18 year olds for low end start up sport bikes per year that would be great.
Did you see the left/right coalition letter against the health insurance mandate?
March 19, 2010 Dear Member of Congress: On behalf of our organizations and the millions of people we represent, we strongly encourage you to oppose the individual mandate in the Patient Protection and Affordable Health Care Act of 2009. Our groups and members may disagree on what are the best solutions to our health care problems, but this unprecedented coalition of organizations from across the political spectrum agrees that forcing individuals to buy insurance from private companies under the threat of fines or jail is not the reform we need. The individual mandate is a section of the bill that requires every single American to buy health insurance-whether or not they want it or feel they can afford it-or break the law and face penalties and fines. Consequently, the bill does not actually cover 30 million more Americans-instead it makes them criminals if they do not buy insurance from private companies. We hope you agree that it is unconscionable to force people to buy a product from a private insurer. This would effectively be a tax-and a huge one-paid directly to a private industry. Enacting this mandate would be a major victory for the insurance companies at the expense of the American people. It should be no surprise they support the government forcing everyone to buy their product. Imagine how the hamburger industry would respond if the government forced everyone to have hamburgers for lunch or pay fines? According to the President's Council of Economic Advisers, the average annual premium for single coverage is $4,321. If the 46 million uninsured are forced to purchase private health insurance at that price, then the insurance industry stands to bring in up to $200 billion in new insurance premiums per year. The Senate bill also includes an estimated $630 billion in corporate welfare for private insurance companies in the form of subsidies over the next 10 years, creating even less incentive than currently exists for private insurance premiums to be lowered. To make matters worse, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services estimates that 19 million Americans would not buy insurance and as a result would be forced to pay $29 billion in taxes/fines. The Joint Committee on Taxation has made it clear that failure to pay these fines could result in jail time. Thirty-six states have passed or are considering measures that would allow their residents to opt out, including Virginia, Utah, Pennsylvania, Florida, Minnesota, Michigan, Georgia and Ohio. Given these fact, it is not surprising that a recent NBC News poll finds 57 percent of Americans do not want the government to create a law that requires everyone to have health insurance coverage and that only 38% of Americans favor the mandate, making it the least popular part of the bill. The American people stand in firm opposition to the individual mandate. We stand with them. We hope you will, too. A vacation to a nice country would increase my overall health way more than health insurance. False Auto Insurance Claim Against A Friend?
A very close friend of mine received a call from his auto insurer yesterday regarding a 3rd party claim against him. According to the 3rd party, my friend hit their parked car (which was parked on the curb in front of their home), then parked his own car, went up to their house, rang their doorbell and exchanged insurance information. The 3rd party claims that this took place in a town that's more than 1 hour away from where we work and live. This allegedly happened 3 months ago. There are two major problems with this story: A- The alleged incident never happened. I carpool with my friend to and from work and was with him that night. B- The 3rd party has all of his insurance information. Could the insurance company have called the wrong person (i.e. gotten policy numbers mixed-up while processing the claim)? If not, how could a 3rd party have his insurance information? How common are fraudulent insurance claims (against another person)? And has anything similar happened to you or someone you know? My friend is a little worried because there is some minor damage to his rear bumper. We live in a major city and pretty much every 3rd car has nicks and scratches along the bumper from parking garage 'mysteries' and whatnot. Also, about 8 months ago, a young woman rear-ended us while we stationary, waiting to turn left at an intersection. Other than a scratch to his rear bumper caused by her license plate bolt, there was no cosmetic damage, and while we exchanged insurance information, my friend decided not to file a claim (she was very nice and didn't look as though she had a lot of money). I'd hate to think that it's her trying to commit fraud against him...""

Question on Divorce and Auto Insurance?
Background: My wife left me and is filing for divorce. She took her car which is a marital asset that both of us own. Is is my responsibility to make sure she is still insured on my policy? She won't return my calls or the calls that my new agent has left for her so my hands are tied. Dear reader I am a 17 year old male. I am searching for car insurance once I get my driver's license I will be required to pay for my own car insurance. I want to get an average cost (monthly) for someone my age- regardless of the company I am not sure what factors play into a policy's amount- however, if it does matter, I am a straight A student with a 4.2 GPA (scale of 4.0)- I have never been convicted, nor prosecuted for a felony or anything of that sort. To sum up, I am quite responsible for a male my age. Please do not be rude in your responses I appreciate your help PS. the car that I would be driving is a Toyota Camry 2005 (all paid for). In this album is pictures of the car after it was taken to the scrap yard, also is a map that demonstrates my terrible MS Paint skills, but I thought it would help paint the picture. The little white blobs on the red rectangle is to show where the front of the car was facing.

After I graduated High School I started working as a Lube Tech for a Cadillac dealer, pay was decent for an 18 year old high school grad in 2002. After about a year of working there they made me Lube Tech / Used Car tech. Finally I got the opportunity to take on more technical jobs and prove I was a capable mechanic. I really liked this because changing oil all day was getting boring and I got to road test, diagnose, and repair most of the vehicles that got traded in. Fast forward to February of 2004. It was a cold morning, the temperature was around 10F. I walk in and go through the work orders of used cars that need inspected. There were some Devilles, Sevilles, an Escalade... OH HELLO! 2002 Corvette with 13k miles. "I'll start my day with that" I thought, after all what 19 year old lead footed male wouldn't jump at the chance to drive a sports car. As I make my way to the used car lot I pass my Service manager. "You getting ready to grab that Vette?" he asked. "Yep!" I replied. He told me "I've already driven it, its basically brand new. So just bring it straight over and give it a LOF (Lube, Oil, Filter), no need to road test it, we want to get it out on the lot today.". I continued to the lot thinking "it's 10 degrees, I need to get that oil warmed up for the LOF to be done correctly" and that was going to be my excuse if he asked me why I took it down the highway.
"There she is" I said to myself as I approached the car. I get in and fired it up, and start going through the interior as I would any used car. Everything functioned like brand new, as I expected. I sat there debating on putting on the seat belt (at the time I wore a seat belt about 50% of the time driving anything, it was a random decision and little did I know that morning that roll of the dice would most likely determine on if I would live to see another day), I decide to put the seat belt on.
I turn off traction/stability control and put her into drive (yes it was an auto). As I start up the entrance ramp I roll into the throttle and the back end steps out. This is where some people are smart enough to make the connection that 400hp sports car, summer tires, and 10 degrees are a recipe for disaster. Not this guy, all I could think is how much fun this is and roll into the throttle a little more to see how far I could go with the rear end stepping out. Alright I'm on the highway just before rush hour, which in my mind was the green light to open her up. The stretch of highway I was on had a long sweeping right, then long sweeping left, then a short straight with a slight bend at a bridge then it had a long straight (you'll see what I'm talking about on the map I made). The speed limit there was 55MPH so I was doing around 90MPH waiting on my opportunity to go WOT, I pass the only vehicle I see, a white van with some graphics, I didn't pay attention to what the van said. Alright coming onto the short straight I give her all the beans and off I go. Watching the road and HUD I see my speed climb, 100, 110, 120... At this point I was at the small bend on the bridge, going from the concrete bridge back to blacktop there was a bump. "I'm sideways" I say to myself. At this point I'm calm cool and collective, I roll out of the throttle a bit and start correcting. I start to bring her back straight and I say to myself (I talk to myself a lot when I drive) "Holy shit! I can't believe I just did that". I was fully confident that I had just recovered from a slide at 120mph in a Corvette. How many people my age can say that! Just then the car whipped the other direction. When you realize that you have just fucked up and you are sure that you are getting ready to die time really does slow down just like you see in the movies. The rest of the slide and crash all happened in seconds, but in my mind I can still play through it remembering every little detail. It seemed like it took minutes, not seconds. I am spinning to the left now, steering wheel is full counter lock, but it is too late. I have lost 100% control of the vehicle, but I haven't given up. As I go through the grass median backwards with the leading rear tire not even touching the ground (according to the police report) I have my right arm on the back of the passenger seat looking through the rear window, my left hand is working the steering wheel because at this point I am going towards the oncoming lane and all I can think is I need to avoid any other cars. No matter what I do with the steering the car is not responding, there is to much momentum and not enough grip, I realize at this point that I am just along for the ride. I turn back to sit straight in the seat, and mash the brake as hard as I can. Remember how I said time slowed down? I look at the steering wheel "that air bag is coming out" I thought. I reach down and recline the seat just before I slam into the drivers front of a Cadillac (talk about irony). CRUNCH! I don't even know how to describe the sound it made, but it was horrific. I see white front the airbag and everything goes dark. IDK how long I blacked out for, but it couldn't have been more than 10-20 seconds. I come to, steam and smoke billowing out of the front of the Corvette, the dash is a Christmas tree. I put the car in park and turn the ignition off. The road I am on runs East to West, I am facing North. I look to might right (on coming traffic) and see a semi truck stopped in each lane, "I'm glad I didn't hit them" I thought to myself. I look left to see a steaming trail of car parts and fluids... "Is that?... FUCK FUCK FUCK!" I try to get out of the car not even knowing if I am injured or can even walk. The door is stuck, I start slamming my shoulder into it and finally get it opened. I go to get out but I can't... I'm trapped!... Nope I just needed to undo the seat belt. I get out of the car and start running. I'm crying at this point, there sits the car I hit up against the guard rail. Another new feeling that I hope I never have again, I may have killed someone. I run up to the car and look inside, 2 ladies sit there looking like they have just seen a ghost. "Are you okay?" I asked them. They did not say anything, but just looking at me and shook their head yes. "I'm so sorry" I reply. Then I turn around and look back at the disaster I have created. I lean up against the guard rail and take a deep breath and feel like puking. Just then someone approaches me. "Hey buddy, you okay?" The stranger says. "Yes, I'm fine, get back into your car and go about your day, you don't need to involve yourself with this." I said to him. He informs he that actually he cant go anywhere because I also crashed into him. I look over to see a Blazer sitting in the median with heavy front end damage. "I'm so sorry, I'm such a idiot... GOD DAMN IDIOT!" I say. He tells me to calm down "everyone makes mistakes, don't beat yourself up" he tells me.
At this point police cars start to file in, I lean back against the guard rail and stare at the cars on the other side of the highway, they were letting people through one lane over there. Just then I see a coworker drive through, he looks like he has seen a ghost as he sees the Corvette and realizes who was driving it. I yell and wave my arms to get his attention so he at least knows I am alright, but he is fixated on the pile of what used to be a Corvette. Roll back shows up and the driver starts sweeping crap off the highway. I walk up and take the broom from him "Go sit down, it's my mess" I tell him. I can't even explain the level of guilt I have at this point, I felt terrible for everyone involved from the people I crashed into to the police who had to handle it. I give the police a statement and they tell me "alright sir, we are going to take you back to your work now" I ask them "can't you just take me to jail?" They laughed and took me back to the shop.
As we pull into the parking lot everyone in the whole dealership files out onto the sidewalk. I didn't want to get out of the car. I was so ashamed. I get out and look at the ground as I walk into the service drive. Time slows down again as I start hearing everyone asking questions. "Are you okay?" "what happened?" "how did you do that?" "what is wrong with you?" "do you realize you could have killed someone?" "do you know how lucky you are?" "did you learn your lesson?". All of these questions seemed to run together, yep tough guy here is crying for the second time today. I get back to my tool box and start to lock it up. "We thought you were dead" one of the shop guys said. Then more guys from the shop come over "are you sure your alright man" "we heard and we all stopped working, we didn't know if you were even alive" "we couldn't go back to work until we knew you were alright". That was the third time I cried that day, but that was a mix of shame and joy that they cared that much. Then my service manager walks up "come with me" he says. We sit down in his office and talk. He was cool about the whole thing. Then he says "Jon wants to talk to you.". Jon was the general manager, he was known to be a bit of an asshole. I had never talked to him in the near 2 years I worked there even though I seen him almost daily. My service manager knocks on his door and tells him I'm waiting to talk to him, then my service manager walks out of the room. Jon walks in, his face is bright red. He walks up to me, takes a deep breath and turns to walk away. At this point I thought I was off the hook for this conversation when he turns back around unexpectedly. "WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU? DO YOU KNOW YOU COULD HAVE KILLED SOMEONE? DO YOU EVEN FUCKING UNDERSTAND HOW BIG YOU FUCKED UP TODAY, DO YOU? GET THE FUCK OUT OF MY SHOP, NOW!" He was inches from my face during this ass chewing. I thought for sure he was going to punch me, and I had no plans to do anything but except said punch.
I actually had to do one more thing before I could go home, I had to go take a drug test. No big deal I knew I'd pass that, but I just wanted to go home at this point. The service manager told me he take me so I didn't have to drive. We get in his truck and pull up to the first traffic light. He says "Eh, you gotta watch those Vettes, they ain't no Mustang, they'll get away from you.". He had a Corvette almost identical to the one I crashed and would always given me shit about my Mustang.
That's pretty much the main story. The others involved were all okay, they had very minor injuries. I could type much more but I figure it will just get too long, so AMA.
