I am going FERAL over this imagine:
So basically Bruce brings reader home to be his new daughter/the boys' new sibling but Uh Oh! They now want you carnally and reader is just like "you said you wanted me as a daughter/sibling, wtf is this" and being their platonic darling is better than being shared between them romantically so reader tries to come off as innocent and child/sibling coded by being like "yeah I've never actually kissed or dated anyone before aren't I just so innocent" and the boys are like :)))
So then Dick says you can call him your boyfriend "just to feel it out" and Tim starts blatantly stealing your panties and Jason says he can give you your 1st kiss so you can "practice" with him and Bruce offers to teach you how to touch yourself and (and him) and when you try to walk it back cause the boys are being Freaks they're in their delulu era so eventually you end up tied to the bed with the boys and Bruce drawing straws over who gets to take what 1sts (like 1st date, kiss, virginity, ect).
And Damien is just in the background absolutely SEETHING cause the the boys and Bruce's Horny Time keeps interrupting his Mommy Time with the reader
And reader using Damien as kind of a shield cause what are they going to do, feel you up in front of a CHILD? Like just, "Stay Platonic :))"
Just that kind of pseudo incest makes me Feel Things (*/∀\*)(///∇///)
I'd love your thoughts/a fic based on this! Ty ❤️
TW: Brief mentions of pseudo incest(y) scenarios/behavior, manipulative tactics, yandere tendencies
(Okay so I’ll answer this with my thoughts for right now.)
I know I primarily write incest(y) related topics for my Game of Thrones/ASOIAF stuff but I have been tempted to/curious about branching it out into some of the other fandoms I write for 👀. (I’ve had a few ideas rolling around in my noggin for a bit if anyone is interested.) So I would be willing to give this a try. I’m down to experiment with some new stuff, within reason of course.
I imagine the Reader being older (probably 19-23), maybe even having been a runaway of sorts or not having a very stable home life, so when they’re given the ‘offer’ to become part of the family they’re looking to fulfill a familial void they’ve never experienced or have forgotten how it’s felt like. I definitely see Bruce and the rest of the boys keeping a very close eye on the Reader before they decide to finally bring them into their family, basically full on stalking them from the moment they caught their attention (you know how the Batfam works). It wouldn’t be a surprise if even before the Reader was with them physically that the boys developed a more carnal desire for them. At first, their intentions were completely platonic, but with all the lengthy observing and information gathering of their supposed-to-be-new-family-member eventually something changed in how they all saw their darling.
I really see the change in their obsession starting with either Dick or Tim first. Especially regarding some accidental or purposeful peeping Tom foolery. I feel like Bruce would be the last to fall victim to the change in direction or at the very least he’s the last one to admit to it. If Damian is younger than I see his obsession staying strictly platonic, but if he were much older than I could see him involving himself to the same depths as his family.
At first, I see things happening subtly. Knowing that at the very least a few of them are already in an obsessive-romantic headspace in regards to their darling before they even physically become part of the family the guys would try to be as welcoming as possible without revealing their true intentions. They don’t want to scare you off right away, they want you to walk into it semi-willingly at least. But the interactions with the Reader would show something else. The lingering touches, the being much closer to you than really necessary, the heated grazes over your clothes here and there that leave you wondering if that actually happened or not. I also kind of like the other members not being fully aware of each other’s change in obsession, everyone giving each other the side eye until it sets in and then all out war of who gets the darling to themself unfolds only to eventually end up with them working together and agreeing to share. That’s when Bruce’s heel-turn is revealed.
Once things get truly amped up, the interactions with the Reader really begin to escalate. The boys would walk around shirtless more often, all of them trying to get their darling to look at them, to really look at them. Eventually, it’s not just them being shitless but either them in nothing but their underwear or nothing at all. They start out as accidents but eventually it’s pretty loud and clear that the guys want you to see them, all of them, to even touch them and feel them to your hearts content. But thats not all, of course it’s not. The touching of their darling only gets all the more intense, to the point that you know damn well that they’re touching you and they want to leave you wanting for more. So much more. The Reader’s innocence and lack of experience would only spur them on even more. They absolutely thrive off of it. They all want to be your first, your first everything. There will be a lot of secret ‘lessons’ being given behind closed doors and telling of “Don’t tell Batdaddy or he’ll get real mad.” “Don’t let Jay know, or he’ll want to punish you for not doing this with him.” “Let this be our secret, (Name). Something just for you and me.” “Can’t tell anyone about this or they’ll ruin it for the both of us.” And they only get even worse from there.
I can’t see Alfred being okay with this in any situation, whatsoever. I think he especially would feel like Bruce and the other boys completely took advantage of the Reader and he would try his best to aid them in trying to keep up with the platonic intention of this entire fiasco. He would be a total cockblock, even going as far as helping Damian in his cockblocking endeavors. Alfred’s intention would be to play both sides so he knows how to help the Reader when it comes to Bruce and the others but it wouldn’t take too long for them to figure out that Alfred is working against them. Like, Alfred was all for the familial-platonic obsession but when things started getting more romantic he was ready to shut that shit down ASAP. You can’t tell me he hasn’t, at least a few times, locked Bruce, Dick, Jason, and Tim out of the house to give the Reader some peace and give Damian his much deserved allotted time with them.
Speaking of Damian, he is a menace (as per usual) but even more so than normal. He really doesn’t take too well to the new direction of his father’s and brothers’ obsession for the Reader. He thinks it’s pretty messed up but he sincerely likes and cares about the Reader and he wants them to stay, he wants them to continue being a part of the family forever so he’ll let some things slide. Some. He even may be willing to look the other way when it eventually comes to Bruce, Dick, Jason, and Tim baby-trapping the Reader if it means this whole ‘family’ thing becomes set in stone with the arrival of a new ‘sibling’. But for the most part, at least early on, Damian would be a huge pain in the ass for the other family members. He feels like he needs to step in to save his darling from the others and their ulterior motives. He’s all his parental/older sibling figure needs, at least at that point. He may even try to runaway with them to keep them safe from the others. Hell, he may even get his mother involved if he was desperate enough, especially if he saw the Reader as a parental figure. Or maybe even another Justice League member to either adopt him and the Reader so that he could have that family experience he was promised with the Reader. Or he would be completely content just living the rest of his life just him and the Reader, platonically of course.
It would either take Bruce or Dick to have a talk with Damian to get him to come to some agreement to allow them to continue with what they’re doing in regards to the Reader. I think Dick would get away with manipulating Damian much better than Bruce could. I think Damian would have some opinions about his father especially throughout this whole situation. Especially since I see Damian being very observant of how Dick, Jason and Tim are behaving towards the Reader early on and picking up on the fuckery taking place, even going as far as telling Bruce about it under the belief his father would be on his side (not ever fathoming the idea of his father also doing similar things to the Reader without him ever knowing). As far as Damian knew his father was completely platonic towards the Reader, as a ‘father’ should be. Right? So understandably Damian feels not only betrayed but also disgusted when he finds out that his father was and still is taking part in, acting in a similarly depraved fashion as the others.
Eventually, I could see them coming together and being one big ‘happy’ family. But it sure as hell comes at a price. (Usually the Reader’s freedom and sense of self outside of the obsession they’ve been dragged into, to drown in alongside their yandere(s).)

I am proud of my body! #2
Continuation of this nonsense. -----------
It's a new day and Jaune stands outside his classroom door. He can hear that all his classmates have already arrived at class. But after what happened yesterday he's nervous. What will they say about him when they see him? Will they make fun of him? Will they treat him badly? A thousand thoughts ran through his mind. But within all that negativity a phrase his grandfather used to tell him resonated within him. "Dignity always prevails."
Gathering his courage and holding his head high, he enters the classroom. At that moment everyone falls silent and turns to look at him. Without losing confidence, he walks to his seat next to Pyrrha. She looked a little flushed and hadn't looked in his direction since yesterday.
Jaune: (It must have been embarrassing to have a partner go through such humiliation)
He told himself.
In the case of Nora and Ren, they still treated him the same. But he could feel like they were figuratively "walking on mines" when they talked to him. But it's better than nothing.
Above his sit Ruby was sleeping while waiting for the teacher. Next to her was the rest of her team. Weiss watching him closely. He turns to look at her and she immediately looks away. It would be a lie to say that this didn't affect Jaune, but he resisted. Yang and Blake on the other side can't seem to stop taking glances at him, especially his lower area.
Moments after sitting down, the others in the classroom began to whisper among themselves without taking their eyes off him. Some looked annoyed, while others giggled at something they said. The conversation continued and continued, the stares wouldn't leave him alone. Jaune felt like he had a target on his back. So he decided to do something.
*Slam!*
He stands up quickly, slamming both palms of his hand on the table to get attention. He walks over to the teacher's desk, looks at everyone with a brave look, and speaks.
Jaune: I know many of you saw what happened to me yesterday. So rather than let you talk behind my back, I'll save you the time.
Jaune takes a deep breath and looks around at the class. They all seem to be paying close attention to him, as if they're curious? No no no, Jaune shakes his head. Why would they be so interested in that? He must be reading the atmosphere wrong.
Jaune: Yesterday Cardin pulled down my pants. Showing everyone my… *Ahem*.. my little Jaune.
Classmate: HA!
One of his classmates all the way in the back laughs, and immediately shuts up.
Jaune: I know my size is not like the rest. I was always embarrassed going into the gym showers here with the other guys after training because of that. I mean, how many people have you know whose penis size is only 9 inches long?
Yang: Damn!
Yang yells quickly in surprise.
Jaune: Well... A-Anyways, I'm proud of my...
At that moment he is interrupted by one of his classmates who raised her hand.
Classmate: I have a question?
Jaune: A question? To be honest, I didn't expect to answer any questions. But okay, what's your question?
Classmate: Is that measurement when flaccid or erect?
Jaune: Um... flaccid.
Classsmate: Follow up question. When erect, is it bigger? And by how much?
Jaune: Well… it's a little bigger… I'd say about 10 to almost 11 inches.
Yang: DAMN!!
Yang yells again but this time in astonishment.
After sharing the information, people began to talk amongst themselves about it. There were so many people talking at the same time that Jaune couldn't understand what they were saying. But he knew he had to regain control of the conversation. So he raised his voice.
Jaune: Anyway! Now you know. I'm proud of my body and I wouldn't change it for anything. And if someone could tell the teacher that I'm not feeling well, I'd appreciate it.
He walks towards the exit, leaving the classroom. For a moment the class was silent until Ruby spoke.
Ruby: *Wakes up and looks around* What did I miss?

Teaser
Pt.1 (Read teaser first and then the rest.)
It was a Thursday afternoon in AMMO, and as you sat at your desk reviewing some data Rita had asked for, a conversation between Rita and Kelly caught your attention.
"What do you mean you can't go?" Kelly pressed Rita.
"Guys, something came up and I won't be able to make it. I'm sorry, but don't let my absence stop any of you from going. You should still go," Rita responded with an understanding tone.
"Now that there's an open spot, does anyone else want to join?" Rafe inquired, casting a glance at Marcus, Mike, and Armando.
"I'd love to, but I'm way too old to be partying all night and riding Jet Skis." Marcus quipped, prompting a chuckle from you at your desk.
"I can't, I'm running errands with Christine," Mike mentioned while peeking through a file.
"You should go, Armando," suggested Rita, leading everyone in the room to pause their activities and direct their attention towards her, including you. Suddenly, all eyes fixated on Rita and Armando.
"I wasn't invited," Armando stated bluntly.
"Yeah, but now there's an open spot, and I think it could be good for you. Think of it as a bonding experience," Mike added.
"It will be fun; besides, they are more in your age group," Rita tried to encourage him.
"I don't know, I'll think about it," he replied, picking up his things and returning to his desk.
Feeling guilty for forgetting to invite him after Rafe had reminded you about the trip, and to remind everyone you decided to approach Armando once the others had left. As you made your way over, Kelly raised an eyebrow, curious about your next move.
"Um, Armando, are you busy right now?" you asked, your nervousness evident in your voice.
He looked into your eyes and inquired, "What's up?"
"Um, nothing. I just wanted to apologize for not inviting you to the weekend getaway. I was supposed to, but the day I was meant to inform you was the day the systems malfunctioned, and I had to stay and work on that. So, I just wanted to apologize and formally invite you now," you confessed, breaking eye contact as you felt he could read your thoughts.
"I don't think I'll go; it's not my kind of scene," he replied, keeping his gaze fixed on you.
"Oh, okay. If you do change your mind, just let any of us know. We leave tomorrow afternoon," you said before turning around and returning to your desk. But then he called out your name.
"Y/n, thank you for the invitation," he said, prompting you to nod and continue back to your desk in silence.
As you sat at your desk, physically present but lost in thoughts about Armando, Marcus interrupted your reverie.
"I know that look; that's the Mike effect," he teased. You responded with a sly smirk, gesturing for him to quiet down.
"Hey, I'm just saying, but be careful with Mike Jr. Don't forget, he's still the son of Playboy Mike. I'm just teasing you, sweetheart, but choose wisely so I don't end up having to avenge anyone," he said, attempting to elicit another smile from you, which he succeeded in doing.
"I know, Marcus. I'm just being nice," you said before gathering your belongings and preparing to leave.
>>> Fast forward to evening at the Lowrey residence:
"So, have you decided whether you're going or not?" Mike asked Armando as they cleared the dinner plates.
"I'm not sure," Armando responded.
"Look, an attractive, kind, and fun girl has just invited you on a weekend getaway. You should go; it will give you a chance to connect with people your own age," Mike stated as he loaded the dishes into the dishwasher.
"Plus, you never know what might happen on this little weekend escape," Mike added. Armando simply looked down, trying to hold avoid this conversation.
"What are you talking about?" he asked.
"I can see the looks you give Y/n and your attempts to get closer to her. Fortunately for you, she seems interested," Mike pointed out.
"Thanks for dinner; I'm leaving now," Armando said, grabbing his jacket to avoid continuing the conversation with Mike.
"Just take the invitation and try to have a conversation with her," Mike urged before Armando could exit through the front door.
"Okay," Armando agreed.
>>> At your apartment where everyone was gathering:
"Can we really call this a getaway? We're just driving like 20-30 minutes away. It's more of a field trip," Kelly remarked as she scrolled through her phone on your bed.
When you emerged from the closet, you were wearing black shorts that felt a bit shorter than usual, along with an oversized graphic tee for some extra coverage.
"Y/n, I thought you'd be showing some more skin, what's with this?" Kelly teased, eyeing your outfit.
"It's a casual look, plenty of time for that this weekend," you replied casually as you applied lotion, grabbed your shoes, and headed to the living room where everyone else was gathered.
"Finally, what took you so long?" Dorn asked.
"Beauty takes time, Dorn," you retorted with a hint of sarcasm.
"And why do you have a mini suitcase?" Dorn questioned.
"Mind your own business, Dorn," you said with a wink. Kelly chuckled and ushered him off the couch to wait for her in the car.
As you put your mini suitcase in the trunk of your car, you felt your phone vibrate. It was a message from Armando asking for the address of the house. You smiled slightly and sent him the location.
"Well, whatever happens during this getaway, stays at this getaway," you declared before starting your playlist and driving off.

TOO HOT TO HANDLE.
Tumblr media
PART II
Han x reader. (s)
Too Hot To Handle masterlist
Synopsis: You and Han become contestants in a reality dating show, Too Hot To Handle. (12,7k words)
Author's note: I had so much fun writing Han's season idk why so I hope you enjoy this one too! x
The party is in full swing.
Everyone is dancing and getting friction off each other, having the time of our lives by forgetting that everyone here is locked in this sexless retreat.
Han has his hand around your waist and you look over your shoulder at him, your eyes meet in an intense gaze. Your eyes drop to his teeth faintly biting his lower lips, getting curious of what it would be like to kiss those lips.
You drop your head against his shoulder and he leans in...
The music abruptly stops and the chime comes in. Everyone knows where to go whenever they hear it and off to the cabana we go.
All the fun and euphoria of the party seem to have evaporated once you are seated on the sofa and waiting for the boss lady to come.
The chime comes in again with her cone body flickering in purple-hued lights.
"I've gathered you all to remind you that this retreat is for finding deeper connections, not just physical ones. This information is not getting through to some guests."
As always, you can sit this one out because you haven't broken any rules yet but Lana sounds so mad and that puts you on edge.
"There has been a breach of the rules."
There's a dark cloud casting over everyone's head and you prepare yourself for what's coming, it's most certainly going to get ugly.
Asher reclines in his seat and glances at Gwen next to her, it's obvious that he did it.
"I don't want to say I lost you guys more money but..." Asher is stalling only to prolong the pain.
"Did you guys kiss or not?" Finn simplifies it for them.
Asher and Gwen exchange a look, then after a minute, Asher finally answers, "Yes."
"I thought we're here for the experience—" Gwen's words get cut off by Finn's loud scoff.
Gwen is only here for a day so it's not a surprise that she still has that mindset, that it's okay to break rules and have fun. She hasn't felt the consequences of her actions like the rest of the group.
"This kiss has cost the group $6,000."
"Mmh... brilliant," Sawyer lowly mutters.
"The prize fund now stands at $149,000," Lana announces the current amount of money in the pot.
"That is not all," Lana is not letting anyone breathe yet.
"What?" Nya gasps.
"Last night, there was another breach of the rules."
Last night, everyone behaved nicely but maybe that's just what it seemed to you. Again, you can't control everyone in here because the only one with that power here is Lana.
Mikaela is looking uncomfortable that she keeps playing with her earrings even though nothing is wrong with them. You dare to ask them, "Rio, Mikaela, did you guys kiss?"
Rio is quick to shake his head to deny it while Mikaela keeps quiet next to him.
"I'd rather speak up," Han lets his suggestion hang in the air for anyone to get the meaning of it.
"I mean..." Mikaela breaks out of her silence.
"It was an accident. We were showering together and I kind of touched," she pauses to avoid continuing her sentence.
Your jaw drops in surprise because that's just a stupid thing to do. They're struggling to take their hands off each other yet they had a shower together, it would be impossible for something to not happen in there.
"We thought it wouldn't be a rule break," Mikaela adds, in what is supposed to be her words of defense.
"It doesn't matter," Finn remarks with an annoyed look on his face.
You doubt that that's the only infraction they did in there and everyone seems to think so. You remind yourself to keep your tone calm to not upset her, "Mikaela, honey, is that it? Is that the only thing?"
Your question sends the tension soaring high but it's either they tell them the truth or face everyone's wrath. You hope they choose the former.
"We uh... we kissed," Mikaela meekly admits.
Indeed, they were aware of what they were doing and the repercussions of their actions.
"Rio and Mikaela, what you did goes against the rules of the retreat," Lana sternly remarks.
You just can't believe that they choose to act selfishly like this but you refrain yourself from talking, afraid that you'd say things you didn't mean.
"These rule breaks have cost the group $10,000."
Even Avery who's been Mikaela's supportive friend is looking just as disappointed as everyone. She has nothing to say to defend her and can only try to calm her down.
"I'm sorry, you guys," Mikaela apologizes with an exasperated sigh.
"The prize fund now stands at $139,000."
-
YOU: What are they thinking? Really? Lana is not stupid. If she said it's a rule break, it is a rule break.
-
When you think Lana is going to end this agonizing meeting, Lana continues to speak still not letting everyone catch a breath.
"Rio and Mikaela, you have broken the most rules since arriving at the retreat and have repeatedly broken the trust of your fellow guests."
You lean back on the sofa and reluctantly listen to everything, exhausted from the roller coaster of emotions Lana puts you in.
"You must now prove to them that your connection is more than just physical. You will face the ultimate test of chastity."
"Sorry?" Sawyer asks, afraid that she misheard what Lana just said.
"Rio and Mikaela, you must spend the night alone in the private suite."
Finn sarcastically laughs at that, "We're done. We're done for."
Nya looks at Mikaela and asks, "Are you going to do anything?"
That seems to trigger her that Mikaela starts to ramble, "I feel like getting negative energy, right now. We're being pointed and like... I don't understand."
Well, after what they did, it only makes sense that everyone doubts they'll pass this test.
"Please make your way to the suite," Lana orders.
And Rio couldn't take Mikaela faster to the private suite.
-
YOU: [shrugs] I think we're finished.
-
Han can't wait to sleep on it but he senses something as Lana is not letting everyone go even after Rio and Mikaela leave for the private suite.
This is supposed to be a good night for him, he told you about his feelings and it was well-received, then the party was fun.
It was great until he sees Lana's cone-shaped body. He puts his arm around to seek comfort from you and you rest your head on his shoulder right away.
"Forming meaningful relationships with people always starts with trust. My question is how much do you trust Rio and Mikaela?"
That is the hardest yet the easiest question to answer. Hard because Han trusts Rio so much, he's the closest to him amongst everyone else here but it's also easy because of what they did when they're together.
Han trusts Rio but he doesn't trust him when he's with Mikaela.
"Jeez..." Asher hisses.
"All they're doing is losing money," Finn says with a snide smile.
"If you decide to trust them and they pass the test, the $40,000 that has been lost so far will be returned to the prize fund."
Some are gasping and a few others are sighing in pessimism. Sure, $40,000 is a lot but everyone's concern is on whether Rio and Mikaela will pass the test or not.
"But if you decide to trust them and they fail the test, the prize fund will drop by a further $40,000."
"Nah, no way," Asher immediately responds with a head shake.
As much as Han wants to back Rio, he has as little faith as everyone that they'll pass the test. However, it's not just about their friendship, it's about money and the group as a whole.
"They got so much shit tonight, they're not going to do it," Gwen says.
But coming from someone who's only been in the retreat for a day, everyone dismisses her right away.
"They know they'll lose money if they do anything," Finn surprisingly takes Rio's side but Han believes it's because he wants the money back.
"Guys," Avery is taking her turn to speak now, "This is a real test. Watch them actually pass it."
Now that it's coming from Mikaela's close friend, everyone listens to her, and their minds slightly change.
"This is their chance of redemption," Avery concludes.
A moment passes as everyone tries to mull things over, deciding whether to trust that they'll pass the test or not for a chance to get a lot of money back.
In the end, it's being decided by voting.
"If you think that we should trust them, hands up right now!" Finn says.
Hands are rising to the air in favor of trusting Rio and Mikaela to not break any rules in the private suite. Han also raises his hand, going with the majority.
He then turns his head to see that you're not raising your hand along with Sawyer sitting on the other side of him, he respects that.
"Thank you. I have noted your decision. Goodbye," Lana ends the session with a grim closing.
-
HAN: I trust my boy, Rio so I'll ride with the majority
-
They're making a big mistake.
Yes, there's a chance to gain some money but they forget that they also risk losing more money for doing it. Anyway, you voted no and if things didn't go as they wanted, you wouldn't be a part of it.
You groan as Han puts his whole body on top of you, propping his hands on each side of your head with his face hovering only inches away from yours.
He flashes you that gummy smile, then leans in to whisper, "I feel like we're getting closer."
You put your legs around his waist and your arms around his neck, pulling him close against your body.
"And we're getting a lot closer now," you playfully say back.
He buries his head in your neck and you can feel his warm breath fanning the sensitive skin, making you tingling inside.
You still feel the slight shock from the sudden confession he told you earlier in the bathroom and you feel the need to ask him if he was just saying it because he feels like it or...
"'I like you,' huh? Where did that come from?" You ask him with your hand on the back of his hair, ruffling it between your fingers.
Han pulls away to hover above you, he props his elbow against the mattress to support his head, "I like the fact that you're a bit silly like me," he says.
You scrunch your nose at that, "You're a whole lot of silly," you disagree with him.
"You're fun to be with, you're not taking things seriously, I... I'm enjoying getting to know you," he answers.
Han then leans in and presses his nose to your cheek, "How about you? How do you feel?"
You look away and pretend to think, "Uhm... you're alright, I guess," you add a shrug to tease him.
He drops his head into your neck as he breaks into laughter and tries to muffle it as everyone else is trying to sleep in the room.
"Well, that's what I like about you, you're so chill..." he compliments.
He looks at you as he continues talking with his hand playing with the strand of hair on the side of your head, "I've been pushing my feelings away but now, I gave in," he sincerely tells you.
You place your hand on his arm and feel his warm skin as you intently listen to him speaking his heart out.
"I admitted to how I feel and honestly, don't regret it," he finishes and brushes your hair away from covering your face.
It's heartwarming to hear everything he said and know that underneath that goofy layer of his, there's a part of him that is so pure and earnest, proving to you that he's not this cool guy he disguised himself him when it comes to someone he likes.
"I don't know what you want to do with it..." You try to articulate your thoughts into words but also avoid giving him the wrong idea.
"I think it would be cool to get to know each other and see what happens, see if something comes out of it," you tell him.
You're not trying to play his game plan back to him but you want to play it cool.
"Okay," he agrees with a sweet smile.
"You blew my mind, really," you tell him how surprised you are by his sudden confession.
"Well, I kind of want to blow you elsewhere but..."
You gently slap him on the arm and pull him, holding him close to wish him goodnight.
"Goodnight," he wishes back with a soft kiss on your cheek.
-
YOU: I do like Han but also, he did tell me that he liked Avery so... I don't want to get hurt. I can only hope that he's telling the truth.
-
Lana chimes the second the lights are on.
You groan as you force your eyes to open and squint to see the cone blinking in the middle of the room. You pull the duvet to your chest, waiting to hear what Lana has to say early in the morning.
"Good morning, everyone."
"Mmh... morning," You're slurring your words as you yawn at the end of your sentence.
"Are you feeling optimistic?" Lana asks, reminding everyone of the big gamble they did last night.
"I think we'll get the money back," Avery says, standing firm on her ground.
"Given Rio and Mikaela's history, you might be, as humans say, screwed."
Is Lana hinting that they didn't pass the test? You thought by voting no, you would be excluded from feeling guilty about it but you feel it nonetheless.
"I feel broke already," Asher groans as he tries to sit on the bed.
"I think they've got it," Avery says while twirling her hair in her fingers, looking not convinced by her own words.
You don't want to think about it but here we are, talking about it the moment you woke up and now you can't stop thinking about it.
You turn on the bed and put half of your body to overlap Han's, cuddling him as usual before starting the day. You look at his face and see that his eyes are closed, even with his face is slightly swollen and his hair is disheveled, he looks adorable to you.
You poke the tiny mole he has on his cheek, "Morning, goober."
He takes your hand away to kiss your plan then puts it across his chest, "Let's sleep for another five minutes," he mutters with eyes closed.
Feeling playful, you put your mouth close to his ear and whisper, "Okay."
-
YOU: But honestly, if Rio and Mikaela cost us any more money, I'll be fuming.
-
When Lana calls you, you drop everything and go.
You're not done with your makeup yet when she calls everyone to the cabana. You drag yourself to get there with Avery linking her arm with yours.
With the two of you as the last ones to get there, you decide to sit at the end of the sofa.
Everyone is looking nervous as they wait for anyone to come in, either Rio and Mikaela or Lana.
After a while, it turns out to be the former. Rio and Mikaela look happy and you know looking happy doesn't mean they did something but it makes you nervous seeing the smiles on their faces.
Lana chimes not long after, saving them from being drilled with questions by everyone.
"Hello, everyone."
"Hi, Lana," you weakly reply.
"Rio and Mikaela, how was your night at the suite?" Lana asks the most spending couple.
"Oh, yeah? What happened?" Finn asks with faint enthusiasm.
Mikaela looks at Rio before answering, "It was romantic."
"How romantic?" Nya asks.
"Bubble bath, champagne, rose petals... it was beautiful," Mikaela answers with a smile on her face.
You look at the ones who voted to trust them and see if anyone shows regrets.
"Rio and Mikaela's stay in the suite was the ultimate test of restraint to further their connection without surrendering to physical desires."
You half-heartedly listen to Lana as you start to get a bad feeling about everything and prepare yourself for the worst outcome.
"However, this was also a test of trust."
From the looks on their faces, Rio and Mikaela seem to not expect that Lana is brewing something behind them.
"Rio and Mikaela, when you left the suite, I asked the group whether they would put their fate on you as a couple."
Mikaela's jaw drops at the information and her face dims as if someone has turned off the lights.
"If they trusted you not to break the rules, I would reimburse the $40,000 you both lost so far."
Rio rubs his hands together and licks his thick lips, having nothing to say but you can't quite tell if it's a good or a bad quiet.
"However, if you broke any rules in the private suite, an additional $40,000 would be deducted from the prize fund."
"That's how much faith we had in both of you," Avery says and intentionally, makes it sound like a warning to them.
You take another look around and can see that most of everyone regrets their decisions already.
"I can reveal that Rio and Mikaela did break the rules," Lana announces.
-
YOU: Don't say I didn't warn you.
-
To say that he's disappointed would be an understatement.
Han can't believe that someone he thinks that's like a brother to him would do such stupid things. He knows that he should not do it, they should take this test as a way to earn everyone's trust but they wasted it away.
Not to mention, wasted some more money too.
"What did you do?" Nya asks.
"We maybe uhm... kissed," Mikaela answers.
"Again?" Asher gasps in shock.
"Did you think for a second that maybe it's not a good idea? That you knew you had to resist it?" Avery says, gritting her teeth as she speaks to Mikaela.
To everyone's surprise, Mikaela doesn't look like she's feeling guilty or shows even the slightest of remorse on her pretty face.
"And because you kissed twice, you have been fined an additional $12,000."
Han thinks that's already the worst of it but Lana doesn't stop there.
"That means your night at the suite has cost the group a total of $52,000."
"I'm sorry I failed you all," Rio finally speaks up for the first time today.
"We-we don't know you bet all of that money on us," Mikaela defends but that's so out of touch.
"But we— You were put to the ultimate test," Avery pressed the focus on the matter and that she shouldn't blame everyone when they're the ones who shit the bed.
"I know," Mikaela says, defeated but still not looking sorry for what she did.
"The prize fund now stands at $87,000. Goodbye."
-
HAN: $52,000 for two kisses? [Shakes head] It's not even funny anymore.
-
You walk back to the dressing room to finish getting ready for the day even though you don't feel like doing it anymore after losing more than half of the prize money when it's not even halfway of the retreat.
You take a long sip of water from your tumbler then sit on your usual spot on the vanity table.
Nya, Gwen, and Sawyer are there too, probably can't find anywhere else to vent but here. The room is loud with their rant and frustrated groans.
Unfortunately, Mikaela steps into the dressing room and everyone gets quiet as she takes a seat on the chair. She looks at everyone but none of them is looking at her.
"I feel like I need to come here and talk to everyone," she says.
You pick up your eyebrow pencil and carefully fill in your eyebrows with it while looking into the mirror.
"You guys shouldn't put your trust in us," Mikaela says.
Instead of sincerely apologizing, Mikaela flips it back to everyone and hopes that it'll make everyone feel better. Nya scoffs at that while the others keep on ignoring her.
"I feel guilty. I feel so bad right now," Mikaela says in the hope that's enough to assure everyone that she's sorry.
Sawyer puts down her hairbrush and starts talking, "I don't think you're sorry for doing it."
You look to the side and see that Sawyer is speaking up for everybody here.
"I think you just feel bad at how bad we're reacting," Sawyer points out.
And she's right. Mikaela only feels bad because no one is taking her side and not because she feels bad for what she did.
"I mean, is it like what? Seven times? You're obviously not sorry for what you're doing," Nya also can't help herself from adding to it.
It's clear that everyone is not pleased with Mikaela and her behavior, especially without Avery on her side to help her.
-
YOU: Mikaela, [holds up hand] please!
-
"I'm genuinely sorry from the bottom of my heart," Rio begins with a heartfelt apology as the boys gather in the bedroom.
Han is not sure an apology would ail this sense of betrayal he feels but at the same time, he doesn't know what Rio can do to make it go away.
"If you were smart, you should have slept away from each other," Finn rants.
Meanwhile, Asher is sitting still on his bed, scratching at his head with a blank expression on his face.
"I put everything on you, man..." Peyton says with a low sigh.
Han still doesn't know what to say but he guesses that Rio can see the disappointment on his face as he presses his lips together into a thin line.
"I'm genuinely sorry," Rio apologizes again.
He leans forward with his hands clasped in front of him, "Over time, you'll see that," he finishes.
If only his apology brought back the money they'd lost, Han wouldn't be this mad and so would anyone, but well...
-
HAN: Obviously, they had no idea we risked that much money on them and I do feel sorry but they should have known it's called the ultimate test for a reason.
-
"Looking like a handsome sausage!"
Han breaks into laughter as you watch him getting ready in the bathroom, then continues combing his dark hair while looking into the mirror.
"We got called to the cabana," you inform, leaning your body against the doorframe of the bathroom.
"Bleugh!" Han reacts with a groan and takes a can of hairspray for his hair.
"I know," you agree with him.
Han is indeed looking good in his red shirt and dark slacks but oftentimes, he wonders why he is impeccably dressed up just to get anxious over a talking cone.
"My belly is turning," you whisper to him.
Unluckily, Han can't give you the comfort you need when he feels the same way. He puts a hand on yours and intertwines it, resting it on your thigh.
The cone chimes and everyone gets tensed at the sound of it.
"From the date I've gathered during your stay in retreat so far," Lana skips the usual greeting and that only means she's angry.
"I must inform you that some of you have not demonstrated the capacity to make deeper, emotional connections."
Is it what Han thinks it is?
"Oh, my days..." Nya weakly gasps.
He holds your hand tighter, afraid that his thought manifested into reality.
"There are two guests that have not committed to the retreat or show signs of progress."
It's becoming real now that his heart is pounding out of his chest. At this point, he can't tell who these two people are because Lana is the only one who can objectively see everyone's progress in this retreat.
"And I must bring their time here to an end."
He can't believe what he heard but as you press your head into his shoulder, he knows he heard it right. Lana is sending two people home, right now.
-
HAN: I am freaking out. I want to get to know her and see where that might go so... I don't want to go home.
-
The possibility that this might be his last night in the retreat is there. Han puts his arm around you, pulling you close and putting his head close to you, catching that natural scent of your body as he breathes you in.
"The first person who has to leave the retreat tonight is..."
Everybody is nervous and the tension is rising, everyone is uncomfortable in their seats. Han is stressed, thinking that it would be him.
"Sawyer."
Nya, the one sitting next to her, throws her hands around her while Fabian who sits on the other side, gently squeezes her shoulder.
"Sawyer, you have failed to commit to the process or make any emotional connections. I have calculated that you have the lowest possibility of forming meaningful relationships," Lana lays out the reasons why she's being sent out of the retreat.
Sawyer sadly smiles and looks at everyone, "It's okay, you guys," she says but her eyes are glossy with tears.
Nya rests her head on her shoulder and holds her hand, snuggling up to her as if she's the one who needs the comfort not the other way around.
"The second person leaving the retreat tonight is..."
Han feels like someone is squeezing his heart dry and his throat is closing up, making it hard for him to breathe.
"Peyton."
Han is unconsciously gripping your shoulder and you end up holding him, providing him the comfort he seeks by placing rubs on his back.
"Peyton, you have continued to display behavior from your player past and you have shown no remorse or signs of change."
Peyton puts on a smile and coyly says, "I don't say much but all of you are like family to me."
Avery sniffs with her eyes wet with tears while Nya looks like she knows it's coming for him.
"Sawyer and Peyton, please leave the retreat."
It feels like he's letting them down even though Han is not the one with the decision to cut them off the show. He feels sorry for them as he hugs them and bids them farewell.
"See you again, everyone!" Sawyer says for the last time before leaving the villa.
Everyone is just as gutted as he is, sitting on the sofa waiting for Lana to finish speaking.
"I hope the rest of you take this as a lesson to take this process more seriously."
When bedtime comes, it feels not right to see one bed empty.
He feels bad for them but he's also relieved that it's not him and you, he's not ready to go home yet. Moreover, he is determined to make progress in this retreat.
He dives into your arms and lets you hold him, keeping him in your warm embrace.
As if you know he needs your comfort, you gently rub the back of his neck, "I'm still here," you whisper with a soft laugh.
He smiles hearing that and places a kiss on your cheek, "I know."
-
HAN: We've just started getting to know each other so I'm glad that we're staying.
-
It's another day in the retreat and another day of spending hours to get ready for the day.
You understand that you should look presentable because you're in a TV show but doing it for almost two weeks now, you're getting tired of it now.
"You look cute in that bikini, babe," Avery compliments you as you put on a black pair of bikini.
You take a step back to see the whole look in the mirror, "Mmh, yeah, I look good," you agree with her.
One thing you learn in this retreat other than making emotional connections is that you like hanging out with girls.
Instead of rivalry, the girls are very supportive of each other, you can see that from compliments being thrown around the dressing room every five minutes.
The only girl that isn't vibing with you is Lana.
After a very intense day yesterday, you feel like turning the other way instead of going to the cabana. It's like you can't go on with your day without seeing her cone-shaped body.
"Come, baby cake," Han holds his hand out at you.
You take his hand only to let him pull you hard until you topple onto his lap, making you laugh as he puts his hands around you.
"It's kind of suspicious to me that there are presents for us," Asher says.
You wouldn't notice the small boxes on the table if Asher didn't say anything, not sure if it's a present but it looks like it from how the lid is wrapped with a pretty bow.
"Hello, everyone," Lana greets as soon as she comes online.
You get off Han's lap to sit on the sofa since it's not a good time to get cuddly.
"I have a gift for each of you."
Lana confirms your guess but you get nervous instead of excited for it. It's never just a gift, there must be something else in there.
"What it is, Lana?" Finn asks.
"The gifts will serve as a reward for those couples who show me that they're taking the right steps toward deeper connections. They will be given the chance to take those connections further."
Everyone is intently listening, probably wondering if there's a catch behind this sudden gift-giving.
"Can we open it?" Nya asks with eagerness.
With the cue given by the staff, everyone takes one box from the table and discovers a smartwatch inside.
"For free?" Han innocently asks you.
You're cackling as you put the watch around his wrist and let him do the same with yours.
"When I observe two people forming a genuine connection, they will be given a green light like this..."
Lana demonstrates it by turning the watches green along with a melodic chime of hers and everyone is cheering in reaction.
"... where the rules do not apply for a little amount of time."
Han leans in to whisper into your ear to relay Lana's message, "Green light means we can fuck."
You burst into laughter and gently push his head away, stopping him from saying another silly thing. That doesn't stop him from resting his chin on your shoulder.
"I would like to remind you that those who do not receive a green light are not displaying enough progress."
You see that everyone is excited about these watches, well, the idea of getting a pass to rule break is nice but knowing Lana, earning a green light wouldn't be easy.
"Thank you, Lana!" You thank her nonetheless.
-
YOU: With this [shows watches] I think I'm ready to deepen my connection with Han.
-
Motivated by the promise of a green light, you pull Han aside, walking to the beach together to get some privacy to talk with him.
You both sit on rocks facing the beach with the surface of the water reflecting the afternoon sun at you. You've been meaning to talk to him about your feelings and you don't like talking about your feelings so it's going to be hard to open up.
However, you know he gave you a lot and you've only given him so little.
"I've been meaning to talk to you about us," you begin.
"Okay," Han says with a nod.
"I know I've been holding myself back a little," you admit to him with a thin smile.
"A little?"
You smile at that and corrected it, "I keep my guard up."
"I think the Avery situation plays on the back of your head, huh?" He correctly guesses.
Well, that's one of the reasons so you nod, "Yeah, it does."
Han gazes into your eyes even though he has to squint under the bright sun to do that, "I barely spoke two words with Avery, I didn’t vibe with her. It was purely physical attraction," he says.
He pulls his legs and puts his hands on his knees, "But spending time with you, getting to know you, it all feels natural, you know?"
You nod in agreement because it does feel natural like you've known him for years instead of days.
"I feel like now... if anyone else came in, I'd still stick with you no matter what," he earnestly says to you.
It feels like discovering a new side of him and this talk feels intimate because it feels like you're talking to his heart from how open and sincere he is with his words.
"It's not just that," you confess.
It's been so long that you haven't been this open to anyone that you forgot how and it scares you so much. You keep retreating even though you keep reminding yourself to lower your guard down even just a little.
"The last time I opened up to someone, I got badly hurt and it makes me scared of commitment," your heart aches as the truth escapes your mouth.
"That's my problem," you say with a nervous laugh.
Somehow, letting those hurt out sets you free from the burdening past and you feel so much lighter and better. As you gaze into his eyes, you feel like you can tell him anything now.
"Yesterday made a massive difference."
"What do you mean?" He asks with an eyebrow raised.
"I didn't want to lose you," you sincerely tell him.
Han leans forward, trying to get as close to you until his knees bump with yours. He takes your hands and holds them while keep looking into your eyes.
"I knew that you were the only one I connected with since day one," you confess and you hope it's enough to tell him how you really feel.
He smiles at you, the silly one that makes you can't help but smile back to him.
"I want to kiss you now," he says to you.
"We can't. Unless this turns green," you remind him while showing him the watch on your wrist.
He then looks at the vast sea behind you and comes up with an absurd idea, "Do you think Lana's rules still applies on international water?"
This is why you like him, he's not only tugging at your heartstrings but he also shakes it, teases it, and twirls it around his little finger.
-
YOU: To be honest, I wouldn't want to do this with anyone else but him [smiles]
-
sThe boys are off to do a workshop in the front yard and the girls are hanging out by the beach, talking about, well... boys.
"It's so hard to keep my hands off of him," Gwen shares.
Recently, a few people have been doing bed swaps. Since the night Asher kissed her, Gwen now shares the bed with him while Avery is now sharing the bed with Nya.
"How do you feel about him?" You ask out of curiosity.
Gwen brushes her hair to the side, "I like that he's so fun to be with and not afraid to make a fool out of himself," she answers.
"Do you see any possibility that it could be more than that?" You ask.
The question seems to take her aback that she takes a minute to think, "Yeah, I think so but let's see," she vaguely answers.
"It'd be amazing to have more people in here," Avery says.
Nya turns her head around to look at Avery, "And more of my type," she adds.
"Someone with confidence, masculinity..." Avery lists all of the things she wants from a man.
"And big hands!" Nya continues her sentence which sends everyone into laughter.
"We just need more meat in here!" Nya desperately wishes her heart out and hopes that it's loud enough for Lana to hear.
It's like Lana hears their prayers, someone steps into the villa but unfortunately, it's not one she wishes for.
Avery lets out a shriek and covers her mouth too late to muffle it, "Oh, my God!"
"Is that a new girl?" Mikaela asks, looking suddenly intimidated but doing a great job masking it with excitement.
The new girl waves her hands, looking at everyone with a bright smile on her face, "Hello, hi, babes!"
You hear a British accent and that explains the distinct charms she has. When she introduces herself, she holds strong eye contact with you, "I'm Portia."
You exchange a quick hug and kiss both cheeks, "You're gorgeous," you tell her in admiration.
"No, you're gorgeous," she flips the compliment back at you with a sweet smile that showcases her dimples.
The girls look fine sharing the attention with the new girl but you can see the sheer disappointment drawn on Nya and Avery's faces.
But guess what? Another guest walks into the retreat and finally, it's one they're looking for.
It's a whole lot of meat in one man, Nya will have her desired feast. He's tall, has stunning brown skin, and a charming smile, you spot a few tattoos on his body too.
"I'm Ed," he introduces himself around.
He looks pleased being the only man in the villa at the moment, "You're all so beautiful," he says with a grin.
Avery is smitten already, she can't take her eyes off of Ed. You're afraid that she has to share him with Nya and you notice that his eyes are on you.
"So, what is your type, Ed?" You ask, being the one to start the conversation so the available girls would know which one he's more into.
"I don't really have a type, just someone I vibe with," he coyly answers.
Avery laughs even though there's nothing funny with what he said. On the other hand, Mikaela seems to be worried that the new girl is going to steal Rio away from her when clearly, she hasn't even met him yet.
"What about you? Do you have a type?" Mikaela asks her.
"Tall, gorgeous, nice smile..." Portia answers with a giggle.
You almost choked on air hearing it, "That's Rio," you blurt out.
"Well, Rio and I, we've been together since day one so..." Mikaela indirectly tells the new girl to not touch his man. She may as well piss on Rio to mark her territory.
You exclude yourself from their chat and decide to join the other group of girls talking to the new guy.
"That's some sick tattoos you got there," Ed says as he looks at the tattoos on your arm.
"Thank you. You got some uh... impressive ones," you say, but it's hard looking at them when his toned abs keep distracting you.
He lightly touches your inner arm to show you which one he likes, "This. I like this."
You shudder at the contact like you've been zapped by electricity and at the same time, you see the boys are returning from the workshop.
-
YOU: New guests mean more rule breaks [laughs] I just hope that they catch up on our progress fast [laughs]
-
What is happening? Han comes back from the workshop to find that there are two new guests in the villa.
One is a beautiful brunette and the other one is a tattoed guy with tousled hair that makes him look like he's just rolled out of the bed looking attractive like that.
If Lana's plan is trying to intimidate him, no, it's not working. However, if the plan is to try to make him jealous then yes, she's succeeded at it.
The new guy touching your arm in an excuse to see your tattoo and as a player himself, he knows that it's just one of his tricks.
Everyone is going around introducing each other and he can see that Finn and Fabian have their eyes on the new girl, surprisingly, Rio too. He looks over to Mikaela and she has the right to drill a hole on her head with her laser eyes.
"Portia, what do you think about the boys? Do you like what you see?" Asher asks, representing the curious singles in the villa.
"Yeah," she shortly answers.
"I'm excited to have fun and get to know everyone," she says with her eyes daringly glancing in Rio's direction.
"Are you planning on breaking rules or what?" Finn asks straight to the point, still has his priorities right as the sex police.
Portia giggles at that and then lightly shakes her head, "I can't promise anything."
This new girl looks cute, with freckles dusted her cheeks and a dimpled smile but he senses that she's going to stir things up in this retreat.
With the two new guests, the dressing room is a lot more crowded than usual. Han dresses up in a black shirt and jeans, styling his hair with Asher putting his long hair into a bun next to him.
"What do you think?" Asher asks him for his opinion.
He looks at him, up and down to know if the whole look complements each other, "Great, man," he says.
Seeing the new guy able to land his hand on you merely a few minutes after he stepped into the villa, Han feels like he needs reassurance that you're still doing it with him, getting to know each other and making deeper connections.
It's so easy to play cool and confident but you've seen everything in him, he knows that you'll see right through him.
No one ever told him that liking someone makes him more insecure about himself.
While everyone else is hanging around the new guests at the firepit, he pulls you aside to talk on the small sofa where you both squeeze yourselves into.
Han slouches with his head resting against the sofa, looking up at you while you're propping a hand under your head and one leg draping between his legs.
You look so beautiful in that tight black dress, you smell so good and those lips tantalize him more than usual tonight.
With his arm around you, he aimlessly runs his fingers on the small of your back, "What do you think of the new guy?"
You peer down at his face and ask back, "Ed?"
He's only been here for hours and you already addressed him with his name. Again, no one ever told him that liking someone makes him think irrationally.
"Do you think he's good-looking?"
You think for a second then nod, "Yeah."
"Handsome?"
"Mmh," you nod again.
"And I'm not handsome?" He asks with a grin but genuinely curious what you think of him physically.
You crack a laugh and think again for a while, "Yeah."
"'Yeah I'm not handsome' or 'Yeah I'm handsome'?"
You're laughing instead of answering and his hand stops moving on your back, waiting for you to answer.
"Is that why you don't want to kiss me?" He asks, turning serious all of a sudden, then looks away to not let you see how embarrassed he is asking you this.
You stop propping your head with your hand and put your hand on his chest, "First of all, you're not handsome," you tell him.
"I'm super handsome, I know," he entertains himself.
"You're cute," you say with a gentle pinch on his chin, "And I like cute guys.
That makes him look back at you with a smile that blooms on his face, "How cute?"
You lean in close to tease him, leaving only a few inches of space between your lips and his, "Very cute."
Han is already dizzy with your warm, sweet breath brushing his cheek as you speak. His eyes drop to your lips as they tantalize him more and more.
"Kiss me then, I'm cute," he teases back by putting his hand on the nape of your neck, not letting you back away.
"How about Lana? The money, mmh?" You softly rub the tip of your nose against his cheek.
"I don't think they'd mind us breaking a rule," Han reckons since none of you have broken any rules yet it's more likely that everyone will let it pass.
You cup his jaw and softly swipe his lips with your thumb, "You think so?"
From the way you're looking at his lips, he knows that this is also what you want.
"Yeah..." he breathlessly says, his throat getting dry the more he craves your lips.
"Mmh..." you answer with a sultry hum.
Han can't take it anymore. He slowly pulls your head close until your lips collide in an explosive kiss, a kiss that obliterates his senses and stirs chaos inside his head.
His tongue pries open your mouth and you eventually cave in, letting him invade you, tasting more of you. He's so deep in it, drowning himself in it that breathing doesn't feel necessary anymore to him.
Oh, he loves your low moans that slip out against his lips and the hand that lingers on his neck. He also feels your leg slowly rubbing his inner thigh, inviting the other part of him to come and join.
He almost pouts when you pull away from the kiss, and you console him with a quick peck on the lips, "That's enough for tonight," you say.
He doesn't want to stop but he looks at the bright side of things, there's always another night.
"We should wipe that lipstick mark..." you sigh as you clean his lips with your thumb.
His hand flies to your lips, helping you to fix your smudged lipstick so as to not leave any evidence for everyone to see. However, touching your lips only makes him want to kiss you again.
As if you're reading his mind, you immediately retract yourself from him to get a space, you take the chance to fix your hair and then your dress.
He helps by pulling down the hem of your dress to cover your exposed thighs. He leans to your side and whispers, "That was a good kiss."
That doesn't enough for him, he then throws himself at you, putting his arms around you as he pinned you down on the sofa, "Fuck, that was so good," he sighs again into the crook of your neck.
Wrapping your arms around him, you bring your mouth close to his ear and murmur, "Don't get used to it."
-
HAN: It feels like I kissed a girl for the first time all over again [smiles]
-
Lana seems to let him go for the night and Han can't tell if he should feel lucky or what.
Eventually, Lana will tell everyone and everyone will know that they kissed, he is very well aware of that.
But God! That kiss was so good and it was worth every penny of that $6,000 he spent on it. He didn't even think of the money because he was kissing you and you're such a good kisser.
It wouldn't be like every other night, it would be hard for him to sleep next to you tonight and not try to kiss you. He licks his lips to get any taste of you that lingers in his and his head is spinning, a little lightheaded thinking of the kiss.
Most of everyone is already on their beds and he's been waiting for you long enough he starts to get antsy. Truthfully, he just can't wait to see you so he walks to the dressing room, he finds you sitting and applying something to your face.
"Baby," he calls you from the doorway.
"Yeah?" You answer without looking away from the mirror.
"When are you coming to bed?" he asks, half whining.
"In a few minutes," you reply, carefully dabbing the skin around your eyes with your finger.
"Come to bed..." he grumbles as he walks up to you only to realize that someone else is there.
The new girl, Portia, is brushing her hair on the other side of the vanity table. Han immediately gets embarrassed for acting like a toddler to you, not knowing there's someone else there.
"You guys are very cute," She shortly comments with a smile.
Han can only wait until Portia leaves the room to start talking with you, even though he's not sure if it's a good idea to be alone with you.
He watches as you dab your lips with lip balm and smack them together, inviting him to touch and feel the softness of your lips.
"Put some on me too," he says.
You hand him the lip balm to put it on himself but he refuses, shaking his head at you. You reluctantly put it on for him, and slowly glides the lip balm on his lips.
"Okay, now we're ready to kiss," he says after smacking his lips together.
You gently push him away and swivel your chair to the other way, "Told you not to get used to it," you say, getting up from the chair.
He puts his arms around you, hugging you from the back while you're putting your things back into your make-up bag. You smell so good that he can't help but plant his nose in your neck, getting himself drunk in your scent.
You start walking in the direction of the door, dragging him to you with your hands on his, "Let's go to bed."
"One more kiss," he whispers with a soft kiss on the sensitive skin behind your ear.
You look at him through the reflection in the mirror with his head buried in your neck, "We can't rule break again," you tell him.
He starts whining like a baby, humming against your skin with his arms tightening around you.
"You're just a baby, mmh?" You gently nudge his chin with your shoulder.
"It's better to get scolded for two kisses than one," he offers his idea to you.
You softly laugh at him and you seem to be more worried about anyone finding the two of you here alone from the way you keep looking at the doorway.
"I know you want it too," he teases you, then playfully bites at your ear shell.
You take his hands away from you but instead of walking away, you push him until he's pinned against the Asher's close on the other side of the dressing room to prevent anyone from walking in on you unnoticed.
"You won't stop until we do it, mmh?" You murmur, putting your body against him and dropping your hands on his shoulders.
He looks into your eyes as they sparkle and he can see that you want it too. But you get ahead of him, crashing your lips against him and knocking the air out of him.
Somehow this kiss is better than the first one and he gets even hungrier for you, opening his mouth to take more of you.
He twirls your tongue with yours and mischievously, you gently tug it between your teeth as he tries to pull away, giggling when you finally let go.
The temperature in the room seems to have raised a few degrees, making him feel hot all over yet he pulls you incredibly closer, leaving not even an inch between your bodies. He has one hand on the arch of your back and the other on the nape of your neck so he can angle your head as he pleases
With your body pressed against him, he can feel it starts to mold to his body and he wants to feel every curve of your body with his hand.
You immediately drag his hand back as he attempts to touch your rear, clicking your tongue at him as you pull away from the kiss.
"That's enough rule breaks!"
You leave him with his mouth hanging open and his lips wet from the kisses, it's cruel that you leave him wanting more.
"We can't enter the bedroom together so..."
You take steps back from him and walk in the direction of the door, "Wait for a few minutes then you can come to the bedroom," you instruct him.
He manages to catch your hand before you walk away, "One more kiss."
"No!" You refuse but with a sly smirk on your face, hinting that you're not completely opposed to the idea.
"I know you like it," he says, standing in the middle of the room, defeated.
You stop by the doorway and look over your shoulder, "I meant it, wait for a few minutes!" You remind him.
You know what? They'll eventually know so he doesn't why you bother to avoid everyone's suspicion.
-
HAN: I started paying attention to the little things she does. How she purrs in her sleep like a kitten or scrunches her nose before smiling [shyly laughs] everything about her is adorable except the kisses... her kisses are out of this world!
-
Is this how everyone feels when they know they're about to get exposed by Lana?
Surely, you can't calm down like usual since you blatantly broke the rules twice last night. You didn't even think about the money at that time and the guilt only hit you right now, fast and hard.
Well, it's not like you commit a murder or something, it's just a kiss, well... two kisses and they cost $12,000. You gulp air thinking of the money you spent on those two kisses but in your defense, it was worth every cent of it.
You glance at Han and he flashes a knowing smile at you, there's no way out of this but through.
When the chime comes, your heart drops to your stomach and you inhale air to calm yourself.
"Hello, everyone," Lana starts the session as usual with a lukewarm greeting.
"Hey, Lana," you reply with a weak smile.
Han takes your hand so you can stop playing with the frayed hem of his sleeveless top and takes your other hand, pinning your hands by the wrists on his lap to make you stop fiddling altogether.
"I must now inform you that yesterday, further rulebreaks occurred."
You turn your head at him and he's looking calm, he even winks his eyes at you which you respond with a scoff.
Avery points her finger at Mikaela and Rio, the biggest spender in the villa.
"Not us," Mikaela immediately denies.
You look at Han, giving him the signals to start talking before the tension rises. He gets the cue right away, letting go of your hands to hold it instead.
"It's us," he coyly says.
Rio says something in Portuguese while Asher claps his hands, both impressed at him. You see that the response is not as horrifying as you thought it would be.
"Did you kiss or did anything else?" Finn asks, wanting to know how much you did so he can calculate the damage.
"We kissed. Twice," Han answers.
You get so embarrassed at how proud he is at admitting the rule breaks that you start laughing next to him. You suppress another wave of laughter to apologize.
"We're sorry, guys, everyone," you sincerely tell them.
-
YOU: Everyone is taking it well and I think it's because they know we have a genuine connection here.
-
"These rule breaks have cost the group $12,000," Lana informs.
However, you know it's not going to stay this calm when the bills turn up.
"The prize fund now stands at $75,000."
Now everyone's faces dim at the amount of money left in the prize fun and it's not much. You are sorry for breaking the rules but it's not right to put the whole blame on you.
Avery crosses her hands together and warns everyone, "No more rule breaks!"
It's so easy to say for her to say now. It was easy for you to refrain from anything sexual but now that you have a partner and you try to build a connection with him, it's so hard because physical affection helps you to achieve this connection you're having with him now.
"Is that all, Lana?" Finn asks.
"As you know, I encourage genuine romantic connections so I have planned dates for our latest guests," Lana comes with an announcement instead.
That gets the new guests, Portia and Ed excited hearing it. Only Mikaela looks like she's plotting a murder plan in her head.
"Ed, please select someone from the group to take on a date," Lana orders.
Feeling like he needs to show ownership over you, Han puts his arm around you as Ed is looking at the girls to take on a date.
Ed's eyes land at you for a second before it shift to Nya, "Are you up for anything later, Nya?"
Nya smiles so brightly and pretends to not care, "I don't know. I'll have to go check my schedule," she jokingly says.
You look at Avery and she looks a bit disappointed with it. She is pretty and all but maybe Nya fits his vibe more.
"Portia, please select someone from the group to take on a date."
Han leans into your ear and whispers, "I'd be worried if I were you."
You snort at that and you're not saying that there's zero possibility for it, it's just that you know Portia has her eyes on Rio. Not sure if she's gutsy enough to take someone's man on a date.
"Uhm... I would like to try and get to know someone," Portia says and she happens to sit next to Rio.
"I'd like to take..." she stalls with her eyes secretly glancing at Rio.
"Rio on a date," she finally says.
There's no one here that is not surprised by her daring move. Portia may look adorable with her freckles and blonde hair tied into pigtails but damn, she is ballsy.
"Sorry, Mikaela," she says to her but you don't hear any guilt in that apology.
Mikaela only nods and forces herself to smile, "Here we go," she sighs.
This only reminds you that you're indeed in a TV show and you believe the viewers would enjoy this drama so much because you're secretly enjoying it too.
"Thank you very much for the date," Rio says which only takes the drama further and sets Mikaela on fire.
Gosh, you feel incredibly good for not being a part of that drama. You put your hand across Han's chest and are just grateful that what you have with him is genuine.
-
YOU: If Rio kisses Portia on their date [shakes head] all hell will break loose on this retreat.
-
Mikaela is pacing around in the dressing room while the girls are getting ready for the night, except the ones that are on their dates.
"You have every right to feel like this. It's so shitty, I know," Avery says, validating her emotion while doing her make-up.
You see that Mikaela is on the verge of crying as she holds the back of her chair and grips at it, "it's been hard for me to build a genuine connection with Rio," she says.
Avery pauses doing her make-up to give her a gentle squeeze on her arm, "I know, I know," she comforts her.
Putting the drama aside, you feel bad for her because as wild as you can be you refrain from stealing someone's man. It's girls code and you're not a fan of anyone that has no respect for that.
"Mikaela, sit down, honey," you tell her because she's looking like she's about to faint.
She obeys you, taking a seat next to Avery and rubbing her temple in distress, "If he goes in and his head turns, just know that he's making poor decisions," she stutters her words trying to hold in her tears.
You're bad at comforting people so the least you can do is listen to her and make sure she feels heard.
"He's entertaining this, he-he's..." Mikaela can't keep it anymore so she bursts into tears.
In a second, Avery comes to her aid, holding her as she's crying. You reach for her shoulder to place tender rubs on it to comfort her.
"It's just that... I haven't been vulnerable to one person in so long," she says with a quivering voice.
You can relate to that more than ever and you'd feel the same way if it happened to you.
-
YOU: That's just what happens when you get too close to someone, they'll gain the power to control your emotions.
-
Consider him lucky that Mikaela-Rio-Portia drama diverted everyone's attention away from his $12,000 worth of rule break.
But here's a new problem: Han craves it more than before.
He blames you for having such addictive kisses that he can't wait to have more of it. However, he craves for something more than just kisses now.
Yes, he's aware of how dangerous it sounds but how can he can stop thinking about sexual things when you're always looking so damn sexy.
Just like tonight, you look so gorgeous in that black silk dress with thin straps and it showcases your beautiful neck that he wants to tear it off of you.
You drain your wine before sitting on his lap, "Hi, crawdaddy," you greet him with a giggle.
He sees you licking the drop of wine trying to escape the corner of your mouth and he wishes he could do it for you.
"You look so hot," he praises you with his hands on each side of your waist.
"Mmh?" You squint at him.
"What do the kids say now?" He thinks for a moment before continuing, "Fire!"
You laugh at his choice of compliments and put your hands on his muscular chest.
"You're fire!" He says again with a sly grin.
The night is lovely with the full moon hanging in the sky and the winds blowing so softly, brushing his skin with salty, warm air.
But all he can feel is the touch of your fingertips on his neck as you look into his eyes, "What are you thinking?"
Should he tell you what is inside his head right now? Not sure if it's a good idea though.
Han tucks the strands of hair escaping your ponytail behind your ear and keeps his hand there, holding one side of your head with such love.
"We have so much sexual chemistry going on, don't you think?"
"Mm-mmh," you nod in agreement.
"And I think we can have sex," he says.
Before you get it wrong, he quickly adds, "Only if you want to have sex."
You nod again and scratch the tip of your nose with your knuckle.
He puts your hand away and leans in close, "What do you think?"
You seem to hesitate to answer him, "Hmm..."
He leans in closer and places a soft kiss on your neck, you keep a safe distance with your hand firmly resting against his chest.
"I think we should stick to the rules," you tell him.
Then you put your hand on his neck and look at him as you continue talking, "I just don't want us to have sex and suddenly things change, I don't want things to change between us."
He pulls you close and locks his arms around you, "Things are not going to change between us," he assures you.
"I know," you say, "I'm just scared that it would happen."
He completely understands what you're saying that you're afraid that sex would change things between you and him.
"I know what you mean," he tells you.
To console himself, Han places another soft kiss on your cheek and looks at you as you endearingly brush his hair to the back.
"Don't get me wrong, I'd like to have sex with you," you bluntly say with a sly smirk.
"But..." You don't even get to finish your words as you pull him into a hug but that proves you're just as sexually frustrated as he is.
You pull away to look down at his crotch, patting his thigh as you say, "Down, boy!"
Han laughs, embarrassed that you know he's having a boner when you're only sitting on his lap. He wants you so much but at the same time, he wants to prove that it's just more than physical attraction.
With or without sex, he's a happy man to be with you.
-
HAN: I've been horny as it is... [sucks air through teeth] Hopefully I can hold out.
-
Another drama unfolds during bedtime.
You're joining Avery in chatting on Asher's bed, the three of you are chatting when Mikaela suddenly comes. She looks unhappy, duh, you'll be too when your man is on a date with another girl.
"Portia has disrespected me, she said some things on the date so I will be having some conversations with her," she says.
The three of you automatically look at each other and notice that Mikaela is having a meltdown. There's a concerning thing going on in the room so you walk back to your bed and so is Avery.
Mikaela is impatiently waiting for Portia to come into the bedroom while Rio is comfortably snuggling close to her on the bed.
You don't wait to share it with Han once he gets onto the bed, telling him everything he missed while he's away in the dressing room.
"Things can get ugly and I'm worried," you tell him.
Mikaela is an intelligent person, but when it comes to her emotions, she can be intense and almost volatile. You're right to never try to mess with her.
Han offers his arm as your pillow so he can cuddle you as it gets intense in the bedroom, you can see that from how everyone is looking tense on their beds.
The wind sends the door shut and Han gets startled, thinking that it's Portia as his head snaps in the direction of the door.
"What a fucking stress!" He sighs as he snuggles to you while you're lowly chuckling at his reaction.
The drama has to end in an unsatisfying way because Portia doesn't get on the bed yet even after the lights are out.
-
YOU: Mikaela has this fiery attitude so I... [laughs] I was really afraid that there'd be a fight but thank God for Portia's long bedtime routine.
-
There's already tension between Mikaela and Portia this morning and you can only hope that the workshop will help to sort things out.
There's an instructor already waiting in the front yard and a small bonfire in the middle, you wonder why they set a fire during the day.
"Hello, I'm Amy, a relationship expert," she introduces herself.
Everyone is sitting in a circle around the small bonfire and intently listening to Amy talking.
"Today's workshop is about letting go of the past so that we can be present. Let's talk about any issues in trust that we have with men."
She looks around as she asks, "Who wants to share first?"
No one seems to want to talk about their feelings, including you. You feel uncomfortable letting yourself bare and be vulnerable, especially in front of everyone.
After a few minutes passed in silence, Gwen decides to be the first to share her emotional baggage, a shocking one about how her friend cheated with her boyfriend.
Everyone starts to share their story and when it comes to your turn, you're shriveling a little but you remind yourself that you're in a safe space.
"My thing is when I fall in love, I tend to throw it all out there and end up getting hurt for it so... I kind of become numb because I don't want to get hurt," you honestly share.
"And do you find someone here you want to open to?" Amy asks.
"Yeah," you shyly answer.
You suddenly feel like a schoolgirl falling in love for the first time all over again but isn't it what love does to people? Making you a bit loopy.
"I found someone here that I like and I'm slowly opening up to him, and I'll continue to share more of me with him," you make a promise to yourself.
"That's good. That's great!" Amy praises you.
When you look back, you feel good knowing that you're slowly changing as a person, you came in as someone who's against relationships and now, you're sharing an emotional journey with someone, together.
The workshop started as a heartfelt talk between the girls until Mikaela's turn. You get the feeling that she'll use this as a chance to confront Portia.
"I met Rio here and he's just a really special guy, I've never met anyone like him."
Mikaela is looking at Amy then as she continues talking, she looks at Portia, "Last night, I had to sit through and watch Portia take Rio on a date, and obviously, I feel uncomfortable with it," she tells her right to her face.
You and the rest are watching Mikaela calmly handle her emotions and talk it out in a mature way with Portia.
"I don't want to feel like it has to be a competition or territorial. I want us girls to be on good terms but I think you break a boundary here," Mikaela concludes, throwing the ball at her court.
Portia gets quiet and she takes it all in really well, she smiles at her before speaking, "I respect you for speaking out and I'm sorry," she sincerely says.
A smile finally rises on Mikaela's face, "Thank you so much, Portia, that means a lot," she responds.
Like a parent, you feel proud watching them solving their issues in such a grown-up way and you hope it continues to stay good like this.
Amy then hands out a piece of paper and pens to everyone and comes with a new instruction, "You're going to write the things that have happened with your life that you're ready to let go of and forgive."
It feels good to be able to share things with everyone but it takes everything in you to write things down without getting emotional.
On your paper, you write, 'Good enough, perfect, comparison.'
Amy wants you to share the reason why you wrote those things down. You take a deep breath before explaining it.
"I never feel good about myself but the girls are..." You pause to look at everyone as they smile at you.
"They're all beautiful and kind, they help me learn my differences and things I love about me."
They're all cooing at you and you know how cringe it is but you don't feel embarrassed about it at all. It feels nice to let them know that.
After everyone shares what they wrote on their papers, Amy instructs everyone to take that paper and ball it up before throwing it into the bonfire.
"Just feel like you're putting it all behind you, right?" Amy says.
She gathers everyone into a circle before ending the workshop with a group hug to let go of all the bad and take the good with you.
These girls may seem superficial but you can feel that you and them are in this together and it's a really nice feeling. Despite that you're all different, you feel this sense of belonging toward each other, a sisterhood.
-
YOU: I still have some way to go but I know that I'm learning and Lana is starting to knock down my wall [smiles]
-
Going back to the villa, you go straight to the dressing room to dress up for a party Lana suspiciously throwing tonight.
You put your bad thoughts aside and focus on dressing up for the party as it has a Black and White theme.
Han comes up behind you and playfully bites you on the shoulder.
"Ouch!" You yelp in pain.
You continue fixing your make-up in front of the sink since everyone else is crowding the dressing room, "Why did you do that?"
He puts an arm around your waist, "Because you're edible," he answers with a foolish grin.
You glance back at him and sense that he's chipper than usual. You get it that it's getting hard to stay away from each other with sexual attraction getting more unbearable every day.
Gosh! There's not a day when you don't think of ripping his clothes off and having hot, filthy sex with him.
"That's not how I want you to eat me," you joke back.
He plants a long kiss on your neck, "How do you want me to eat you then?"
You chuckle and look at him, "Want you to eat me well, that is."
He puts his other arm around you and draws you closer, "I can do that."
"Yeah?"
He breathes you in and looks at you through the reflection in the mirror, "I can show you," he says.
Before it gets dangerous, you put an end to this conversation and playfully elbow his stomach.
"Ouch!" He yelps in pain this time.
You pull him into a hug for an apology and kiss his cheek, "Let's go, hubba hubba!"
A party is necessary so everyone can blow some steam off for being locked up in this sexless retreat but it also means that Lana plans to throw everyone off.
That doesn't stop you from enjoying the night and the company you're with. You're dancing to the music with your hands draping around Han's shoulders as he slowly sways your body together to the fast-paced music.
After the workshop, you feel much lighter and better, more importantly, you feel confident about how you feel. You look at Han and you feel like you can share anything with him, you can see a relationship with him.
So you hold on to him, tighter and closer but Lana, being the ultimate cockblock she is, chimes in and stops the party.
-
YOU: I have no idea what's about to come next but I know it's not going to be good.
-
It's like the fun has evaporated and been replaced by anxiety once everyone is seated in the cabana waiting for Lana to come online.
"I am very disappointed to report there were several breaches of the rules."
When Lana skips the formality and goes straight to the rule breaks, it means that she's pissed off. You feel good for not breaking the rules with Han after the last time so you don't have anything to worry about. You can freely guess who did it this time.
"We kissed on the date," Ed is kind enough to own up to it fast.
"I think it was okay, yeah," Nya adds to it.
Everyone seems to let them get away with it, maybe because it's one kiss and Ed and Nya are a potential couple. You don't know but you sense that they wouldn't like what they hear next.
"Ed and Nya, your rule break has cost the group $6,000."
Avery is rubbing her temple while Finn seems to have had enough of people selfishly spending the prize money.
"There was another breach of the rules," Lana informs.
Everyone is tense once again, looking around to catch any guilty faces and you bet the biggest spender has anything to do with it.
Han looks over his shoulder at you, covering his eyes he says, "I may have broken the rules in the shower," he meekly says.
Surprised, you spit out, "You did what?"
Han can't be doing another rule break with anyone else, you know that for sure and that leaves with one possibility. You cover your eyes this time as he admits it to everyone.
"I did a little... uh self-gratification," he blurts out at once, aware of how embarrassing it is.
Everyone bursts into laughter at his confession as he hides his head in your neck. You can't do much about it since he didn't tell you about it
"Han, your act of self-gratification has cost the group $4,000."
-
YOU: I'm actually quite offended. Did he not want my help?

10,000 hours
"I'd spend 10, 000 hours and 10, 000 more. Oh, if that's what it takes to learn that sweet heart of yours"
(Inspired by Dan + Shay and Justin Bieber's song (˶ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ˶)) Some lyrics are used here!
(Oh and credits to the original artist for the fanarts I used!)
For Alhaitham and Zhongli, consider it as the sequel to the first fics.
ALHAITHAM (part 1)
ZHONGLI (part 1)
CHARACTERS USED HERE: Alhaitham, Zhongli and Neuvillette
ALHAITHAM
Tumblr media
"Do you miss the road that you grew up on? Did you get your middle name from your grandma?"
"Oh, why is that?" Alhaitham mumbled as the corners of his lips urged to curl up into a smile if not for him holding it back. His eyes skimmed the pages of the book he was holding although shooting occasional glances at you blabbering about how the Akademiya's strict yet ridiculous rules and customs. Contrary to his insouciant countenance, his ears were keen on picking up every word you said to engrave them into his memory; especially information about yourself. He believed that gathering up personal details of you would help him succeed in wooing you.
"They made us wear those itchy hats which are made of rough linen! It's making my scalp itch!!" You poured out all your complaints, your legs dangling upon sitting on Alhaitham's desk. "But don't get me wrong! Sumeru is really nice; a whole new experience! But I do miss my hometown and my family..."
Alhaitham heard your soft sigh at your last sentence which made his ears perk up with curiosity. A trace of a faint smile lingered on the scribe's face as he closed his book with a soft thud sound. "Who do you miss more? Your hometown or family?"
"Hm... maybe my family? They mean the world to me... Especially my grandma!" Your face lit up when you mentioned your grandmother. The scribe's lips parted to say something but instead, he just chuckled.
"Your grandmother? May I inquire why?"
You weren't the type to deduce a situation without seeing the big picture but you could have swear you heard his voice crack at the word 'grandmother'... Was he washed over by the feeling of nostalgia? You didn't know his past exactly but your guess was that he was brought up by his grandma judging from the way he weighs that specific word. Curious, you shifted your body to his direction to observe his body language so that you could confirm your suspicions. Finally after a long pause, you replied with a soft smile, "She bakes me excellent chocolate cookies. And oh, I'm not sure you know that but my family runs a small yet successful bakery!"
You paused for a while, silently weighing the words you were going to say to make sure if it was appropriate to let it out loud in front of him.
"My mother said that I take after my grandma from head to toe. That's why my middle name was named after her." You finally mustered the courage and let out a giggle to ease any possible tension between you two in case he was offended by your words.
Antithetical to what you have believed, you saw a soft smile on that handsome face of his instead of a scowl. Who knew he could be a heart-throb when smiling? Maybe you should persuade him to do more...
"Ah... I see. No wonder your middle name sounds so obsolete yet beautiful- in a good way of course"
Although the things you just said couldn't benefit him in buying gifts to your liking, he was glad that the walls around your heart were starting to crack little by little.
"But guess what?" You got off his desk and reached for the exit "I know her secret chocolate cookies recipe..."
"So get ready to taste some tomorrow!" You left the room with a wink which seemed platonic to you.
But not for him.

"When you think about your forever now, do you think of me?"
"Do tell me dear, what does the word 'forever' and 'eternity' speak to you?" The Geo lord strolled along by your side.
"Erm... the Electro archon? Lightning? Inazuma?" You made multiple guesses but each one earning his shook of disapproval. Your eyebrows knitted into a frown as you scrambled for the correct answer.
"You will get no where if you continue making such guesses far from truth. I must admit that she would be flattered by your words if she happened to be near us." Zhongli patted your shoulder as he looked down at the city of Liyue from the mountains above. The orange evening sky colored the red buildings of the city crimson and laughter and chatters filled the streets. Colorful flowers of pride blossomed in his heart at that sight; the city he built from scratch had now became a civilized one. But these feelings didn't even had a room in his heart when compared to the pride and love he felt when around you.
"Think again, dear." He raised his eyebrow in amusement upon seeing that puzzled look on your face. "Let me give you a hint then... how do you see yourself in five to ten years?" Zhongli tilted his head with his eyes closed towards the sky casting an orange glow on his face. Under such golden light, his features were more refined. When he opened his eyes, you noticed that they seem to lighten in hue which made it more alluring.
"Well, I'm still young so I'll probably stick by your side and my instrument too." You smiled at the mention of your musical instrument; you could as well as say that it was your first love.
Zhongli's breath hitched in his throat as his face went slack- his lips parted slightly with widened eyes. Being self-conscious again, he hid his happiness behind that calm, professional mask of his. "So, you're saying that you want to be by my side....forever?"
"Suppose so" You shrugged as you ran down the hill, feeling the cold wind fanning your face as it also made your ears pop. At the bottom of the hill, you found yourself followed by Zhongli and you both walked your way into Liyue's harbor. Suddenly, you heard an old woman's weak cries near the entrance of the city. Worried, you glanced at her direction and found a basket of glaze lilies next to her and it seemed that she was trying to sell them before the end of the day. You felt pity for her so you approached her with slow delicate steps.
"Erm, excuse me. I would like to purchase some glaze lilies. May I have four of them?" Your words had a gentle lilt to it.
"Unfortunately for you dear... there are only two left!" The elderly lady replied with an anxious expression. You bit your lower lip in thought but then you nodded.
"I'll have two the-
"Wait" You felt a presence approaching you from behind; Zhongli. "You said you wanted four. Shall we come back tomorrow?"
That's when you knew that you were stuck between the devil and the deep blue sea: You didn't want to hurt the elderly woman's feelings or Zhongli's. You had to find a way to please them both.
"W-Well... I'll buy only two today" you glanced at Zhongli "I hope you don't mind but I want you to buy two for me everyday...until it's big enough to be a bouquet."
NEUVILETTE
Tumblr media
"Do you love the rain, does it make you dance when you're drunk with your friends at a party?"
"I can see that you enjoy the feeling of rain..." A man's voice interrupted the daze you were in. You let out a yelp in response and turned your head around swiftly to see who it was: Monsieur Neuvillette.
"Ahaha... Monsieur..." You chuckled nervously as you shook off the water droplets on your extended hand to hide it in your coat's pocket. You lifted your blue umbrella a little bit higher so that his face could be seen in detail. "Erm... maybe." You lowered your gaze in guilt. Being a pluviophile is tough especially when rain only pours when the Chief Justice of Fontaine is feeling under the weather. During your teenage years, you used to run in the rain alone or with friends after a party. But right now? That hobby of yours had became a guilty pleasure ever since you became Monsieur Neuvillette and Lady Furina's personal stylist. It's not like you must hide that from him but when you put yourself in his shoes, the whole situation changes: how would you feel if you see someone acting all buoyantly in front of you when they clearly know that you're distressed? Offended right?
"Ah... so my guess is correct then" He let out a soft chuckle "Why is that?"
"Oh, well... ever since I was a little girl, I would go on strolls with my mother and when it rained, I would jump into shallow puddles and play with it." A wave of nostalgia intertwined with guilt cascaded over your whole being; Afterall, the rain served as a reminiscent of your childhood. "During my teenage years, I would dance under the drizzle with my friends..."
"Really? Oh. So you used to frolic in the rain?" Your head snapped in his direction faster than the speed of light at his question because you thought he was offended. His calm yet sharp reply could be mistaken for a sarcastic comment. Contrary to what you had thought, he was, in fact, insouciant. You were expecting him to be purple with rage and fire you from your position at that instant. But no, he was just staring at you...with a soft smile.
"I-I was drunk... I didn't mean it!" You dropped your umbrella on one shoulder so that he couldn't see your face.
"Oh no, don't do that... may I?" His gloved hand reached to lift the object veiling your face. "Don't hide that pretty face of yours"
His eloquence left you flustered- you could hear the flutter of a thousand butterflies resonating within the depths of your stomach and the echo of the pounding of your heart creating ripples of sensation throughout your body. "A-Aren't you mad at me?" You exclaimed, your voice trembling. "I mean... my happiness stems from your misery."
"Hmm... for the time being let your imagination run wild. And do tell me, what kind of dances do you dance when there is a shower?"
"Like twirling...swing dance and stuff like that"
"How about ballroom dance?"
"I'm normal at it? But I might step on your shoe or even trip over it if the ground is slippery because of the downpour"
Neuvillette held himself back from wheezing when you mentioned your flaw when it came to dancing. "You like to dance in the rain hm?"
"So, If I shed more tears, will you grant me the opportunity to sway in your embrace, my chérie?"
Tumblr media
(Guys, I'm so sorry for Neuvillette's part- It sounds so cheesy because I was so high on caffeine while writing his part 😘😘🤗🤓 trust me it's from all those cups of coffee I consumed during the day since I'll pulling an all-nighter for tests)
Anyways thanks for reading ❤️ Credits to @cafekitsune for the divider!

So, I'm curious: What's your take on Aylin's experience after/if she kills Lorroakan?
Allegedly, there's some information floating around somewhere that said Aylin was angry with Selune after she killed Lorroakan, but I can't find where this info is.
If you saw posts about that here on tumblr it was probably posted by @justanotherignot! I've actually been meaning to gather up all the devnote tidbits about Selûne from Aylin and Isobel for a while now, so thank you for the excuse to do so and ramble a bit.
Player: I was just wondering what it was like in that cage of Balthazar's. Aylin: Let us not dwell on those dark days. Their memory is a vortex within my heart that leads directly to the Hells.
Tumblr media
What is happening is, well, it's the century of unthinkable horror catching up to her. It's the Trauma(TM) - in one of the conversation options she's literally triggered by the mention of someone being run through repeatedly! It's the growing awareness that although she's been freed (and possibly reunited with her love), the secret is out and there are always going to be assholes gunning for her, aiming to use her as an "artefact" and power source to fuel their ambitions, without any regard for her, you know... basic personhood and well-being. Also, Lorroakan was blatantly lying. He didn't find any super special way to siphon her immortality with "no harm, no pain of any kind", he was just replicating Balthazar's soul cage (you can even find a letter from Ketheric to him, showing Lorroakan was pestering them).
On to the stuff from the game files! First, the conversation with Aylin directly after the Lorroakan fight in the tower. I'm going to be putting the context notes in square brackets next to the lines they apply to. I also plucked some audio out from the files for some of these because I love the delivery.
Aylin: The fire-haired fool is dead. Yet as I stare upon his corpse, I feel… sadness. Why? [Slow and curious, angry and confused by all that has happened.] Player: What kind of sadness is it? / I know something of sadness - or at least the ballads do. What does it feel like? Aylin: A gripping in the chest. As though I'd lost someone, something. [Lost in thought for a moment; confused.] Aylin: A paladin's fatigue, no doubt. You were excellent in battle, as is your way. And I am proud to fight at your side. [Remembering herself. She is Dame Aylin.] Aylin: I will catch my breath, then to camp I will bring my bones. Moonmaiden be with you. Player: Smiting is a weighty duty - sometimes it can be tiring. / Perhaps smiting has lost its pleasures. Aylin: Say it can't be so. For I am Selûne's sword. And ever must be. [She means it, but on the periphery of her consciousness is a tiny crack. Wondering about her fate.]
The above never fails to get me - she is Dame Aylin! Sword of the Moonmaiden! Glorious immortal paladin, champion of a righteous cause! She smites evil-doers for breakfast, that's, like, her whole thing! What do you mean she can't just pick up where she left off and go about her merry smitey way? What do you mean the thing that is supposed to be the literal core of her entire being (forever) doesn't feel good and glorious anymore, but just makes her feel sad and empty? No, no, no, we can't have that.
Player: One of the greatest tragedies of revenge is that it can only be taken once. / Because you won't get to kill him again? Aylin: Perhaps. Yet if I could run him through a thousand times, I wonder-- [Lost in thought, she's been triggered to remember her own fate being run through over and over.] Aylin: Battle has tired my mind, made me susceptible to flights of fancy. You were excellent in battle, as is your way. And I am proud to fight at your side.
Aylin: I will return to camp shortly. I just need a moment to… to… [Lost in thought.]
She so very desperately needs some rest and a chance to come to terms with everything that happened and that was done to her. And it's clear it's going to be hard because she is defaulting to trying to deny anything is wrong, is clearly trying (and failing) to just be her old self immediately, has blatantly internalised a lot of that classic I Am A Sword stuff on top of everything (even though her mother is huge on free will and choice!), and is just really not well-equipped to handle any of this at all.
Next, this is the post-Lorroakan convo you get if you have both Aylin and Isobel in camp.
Aylin: Ah. Ally mine. We are reunited once more. [Warm, but drained. She's not feeling like herself.] Aylin: I was just regaling sweet Isobel with tales of our prowess. Isobel: Very impressive. Thank you for helping Aylin - that wizard sounded absolutely dastardly. [Good humored. Soft in tone. A little uncertain - she's not sure why Aylin isn't herself.] Player: My pleasure. He had it coming. Aylin: He did, and it came. Now, my friend: bask in your victory. I will do the same. Aylin: But fear not: when the time comes for you to face the foe of foes, Isobel and I will stand by your side. [Rallying her soldierly spirit, but still a little drained.] Isobel: We wouldn't miss it. Not for anything. Aylin: Go well, friend. We will see you soon. And with our great powers combined, this city will be saved. Player: Hopefully he'll be the last. Aylin: There are always more bastards behind bastards. But we will run through them all, each by each.
Player: I hope you can rest easy now, Dame Aylin. Aylin: I always do, with darling Isobel by my side. Aylin: Enjoy the spoils of your victory. Spin memories of Lorroakan's death in your mind like silkfloss.
If Isobel isn't there (meaning she died in Act 2), you get this version:
Aylin: Ah. Ally mine. We are reunited once more. [Warm, but drained. She's not feeling like herself.] Aylin: I was just reviewing our fight against foul Lorroakan; your moves and mine. The victory was soundly won. Aylin: Don't you think? [Uncharacteristically, Aylin is seeking input. She's usually so confident about everything, but killing Lorroakan has not had the intended effect on her.] Player: Indeed I do. Let his demise serve as a warning to anyone else who'd seek you out. Aylin: Let him be the last. If my dear mother has any mercy, she will ensure it. [Trying to stay her usual self, but her mask is cracking a tiny bit here. Privately, Aylin is dealing with a great deal of anger toward her mother, the goddess Selûne, But she's not yet willing to face it. How could her powerful mother let all this happen to her?]
Player: We fought well - though I was a little worried about you afterward, in truth. Aylin: Set your mind at ease, my friend. Dame Aylin is more well now than she has been this past century. [Good humored. Soft in tone. A little uncertain - it's true she's better now than she has been, but why does she feel so shitty, then? (She's in the beginning of reckoning with the trauma of what happened to her).]
Player: I hope you can rest easy now, Dame Aylin. Aylin: Yes. I wish for the very same. Aylin: Enjoy the spoils of your victory. Spin memories of our prowess in your mind like silkfloss.
So, a few things pop out for me here. First, you get the more explicit anger at Selûne if Isobel isn't there, as opposed to the "hahah, I will smite all the bastards who dare come after me, no matter how many there are" line. "How could her powerful mother let all this happen to her?" just... damn, hits hard, even if you subscribe to the theory that Selûne simply could not intervene in the Shadowfell imprisonment beyond sending those poor people whose graves you find in front of the mausoleum.
And here Aylin really lays it on thick with the denial that there's anything wrong at all. Combined with the letter you get from her in the epilogue if Isobel is dead, it just paints such a bleak, sad picture. I can just see her going all out on the Sword of Selûne duty-bound paladin side of things, no rest, no healing, no stopping even for a moment, no dealing with anything at all, from the trauma to the bitterness towards mum. Until whatever horrible breaking point comes, a year or a century from now. The need for Isobel's humanising influence is so clear. I've touched on Isobel's side of things here.
Speaking of having a bone to pick with Selûne, if you're playing as a cleric/paladin of Selûne, you can get some extra very honest dialogue with Isobel in Last Light:
Player: Why has the Moonmaiden waited until now to take an interest in this curse? Isobel: Maybe she was waiting for one of us to find this place ourselves. Free will, and all that.
Isobel: Though if it were my place to ask why she let Ketheric turn; why she allowed this village to rot at his hands - believe me, I would. [A cold edge in her voice]
Player: Are you faring all right? It can't be easy holding a lone candle in such darkness. Isobel: All things with her strength. You know the litany. [A little sarcastically. She's got a bone to pick with Selûne but isn't being too overt.]
Side note: the amount of devnotes for Isobel's lines that say she's delivering them "with swagger" and being "cheeky" makes me smile every time. Love her. Love her snark.
Also, to get it out of the way: no, I'm fairly sure Aylin did not break her oath. I see this brought up a ton and I just see no way for it to be the case. There is nothing to suggest this outside of a wording similarity and it just makes no sense. Girl is clearly some flavour of Oath of Vengeance (she uses Abjure Enemy, so this is the case even mechanically, even though she's obviously an NPC and not a standard player-build paladin) and she killed a very shitty guy who was also explicitly after her in godawful ways. You can do far worse things in the game than her dramatic speech and backbreaker and not break your OoV.

WIBTA if I tried to find out different synagogues' general attitudes on Zionism before converting?
I (late 20s) was raised Christian, but moved well away from that faith after being berated by my homophobic preacher grandma for supporting gay rights (she didn't know I myself was gay at the time). Currently I'd say I'm mostly agnostic, I don't have any strong feelings towards things like whether god exists or what the afterlife is like or anything like that, mostly I am just curious.
I've been interested in Judaism for a while for a lot of reasons. Mainly because, as far as I can figure, the idea of asking questions and debating meanings and forming your own opinion on these topics is actually encouraged unlike in Christianity, where it was a lot of being told not to question god and all that. I've wanted to try converting and seeing if that all feels right to me, but haven't been able to because I don't live somewhere with much of a Jewish population or any synagogues. However, I'll soon be moving to a city that does have a few options for that.
Here's the question: I know that asking individual Jewish people their stance on Israel is inherently antisemitic. I know that just because someone is Jewish doesn't mean they're a Zionist. And I know there's been a lot of antisemitism lately among the discourse surrounding the ongoing Palestinian genocide. However, if I'm going to be joining a community of Jewish people who are gathering because of that, there could very well be some strong feelings one way or another among them. I've also seen a lot of "online conversion" sites (which I've been informed are not reliable) that focus heavily on helping converts Visit To Their New Homeland Of Israel which...again, I know these services aren't reliable, but the way it was emphasized as ~part of the process~ rubbed me the wrong way, and I have no idea how reflective these sites are of actual IRL Jewish communities in general.
Basically, I worry that in my pursuit of conversion, I'll end up within a community of mostly people who support Israel, and if that's the case I'd rather know sooner or later. I know (or, I suppose, people on jumblr have said) that it's practically impossible to get a whole group of Jewish people who agree on any one thing within their faith but I'm betting there are communities who more or less agree on certain things. So WIBTA (A for antisemite in this case ig) if, when speaking to different rabbis, I asked about the general attitude on Zionism within the congregation(? if that's the word for it??) Is there any way to go about it politely?
What are these acronyms?

The Double, ep 18-19
I love that the Duke knows Li well enough by now to that he can tell she is gathering her courage to tell him something. There's part of her that desperately wants to tell him because she trusts him. However, when she says to ask her anything, he immediately gets to the point and asks who she is. She can't quite let go of that information but she will relent enough to say that she is not Jiang Li, which he already knows.
Yet he teases her and gets a smile out of her. He backs off, because just her admitting to him that she is not Jiang Li is huge. The rest will come. He reassures her that she is right to see her justice and that she is not just a ghost; she is real and alive. She does not have to be defined by her past.
I WAS SCREAMING AT THE CONTEXT OF THE SHIRTLESS RAIN SWORD PLAY.
The Duke stripped off his shirt in the pouring rain and... uh thrust his sword while thinking of Li. At the same time, Li is leisurely taking a bath, stroking bright red rose petals thinking of the Duke and smiling. And Li has a self satisfied smirk the next morning. Girl, what are you going to do when he really wakes up next to you?
Not sure how exactly they will top this.
The flower scene was so amazing! He says the flower is pretty and suits her so Li says it's ugly. Which leads him to pull her closer under the pretext of "fake" lovers. But Li dislikes being called lovers as that was the fake accusation that destroyed her before. The Duke though simply says when she's more open, it won't kill her. Meaning she is his beloved, and he would never betray her.
I adore that she stuck the flower in his hair. AND he kept it there the whole time, even when threatening the thugs. He only removed it when she left.
I think my favourite scene from ep 19 is the argument they had. She lays the out the entirety of the Duke's plans so accurately that he's a little stunned. He's always admired her intelligence but I don't think he realized how clearly she saw everything. However, he doesn't want her part of this because he doesn't want her hurt.
And here she calls him Xiao Heng, as she's starting to do whenever it's actually personal and important. She knows he's afraid for her; that he's unwilling to risk her life for the sake of the country. But their paths are converging. They may have differing angles and goals, but the end result is the same. She needs to be a part of this. She will risk her life for the justice of her father, brother and herself. She needs his help, because without it she will likely die.
The Duke relents, reluctantly. Because even if he refuses, she will go about her plan anyway which means more danger for Li. She's forced him into a corner and they both know it. So he lets her in, knowing that while it's still dangerous, he can protect her better this will.
But he still has rules! If she wants to go to the cave then she'll need to figure out a distraction plan for them. And so she does, and the Duke thinks it's brilliant. Plus he had full confidence she could do it.
When they are in the cave, I love how he recognizes that she has some kind of trauma (and expected since the caves remind her of being buried alive) so he takes her hand firmly without asking any questions to help her. He doesn't even consider asking her to leave if she has an issue.
Was the Duke showing off when he took of his shirt and gave his undershirt, which probably smells clean and like him and is warm from his body. Yes.
Did Li watch shamelessly and was turned on by this? Yes. (It gives her more to think about while bathing teehee). She's also curious about the scars on his back.
When Li and the Duke find the mining going on, Li finally has some of the missing pieces about how she and her family, Yurong, and the princess are all connected. It's one of the things the Duke was trying to protect her from but now she'll have a better idea what they are up against.
I didn't think I'd like the Third Uncle at first but he and Li are chaos together and feed into each other's chaos. I love them.

SSR Ortho Shroud - Bloom Birthday Voice Lines
Tumblr media
When Summoned: Today's my birthday! I'm gonna show off something super special to everyone who's gathered here for me!
Summon Line: What, you're curious about the "super special" thing? Well, of course, that's... still a secret!!
Groooovy!!: I'd always dreamed of flying on a broom like this. Looks like I got another wish granted.
Home: Don't I look just like everyone else?
Home Idle 1: I was able to gather super detailed data on the flavors and ingredients that went into the dishes here at the party. I guess I made the right choice in asking Ruggie-san to put together a report on the food.
Home Idle 2: Shoelaces, stationary, a winning popsicle stick... It sure is fascinating that even though everyone's getting me something, no gift is the same as another.
Home Idle 3: Amazing! The previous record was surpassed midway through morning. I never expected the day would come where I would be given so many birthday wishes from so many people...
Home Idle - Login: It's my birthday, huh. I want to be able to grow more in mind and spirit during my time here as a student at Night Raven College.
Home Idle - Groovy: In preparations for my discussion with Sebek-san, I need to update all of my information. I definitely have to make sure I win the debate.
Home Tap 1: The members of the Film Research Club put together an improv play for me. I super enjoyed it, especially because it didn't end the way I was expecting!
Home Tap 2: A little bird landed on my finger just now. Thanks to Silver-san, I was able to experience something completely unique!
Home Tap 3: The reason why there are some packaged meals in the center of the food table? That's because the nutrition in those are completely balanced. I asked my parents to send them to me.
Home Tap 4: I made sure to save a picture of each present I got as an image file. That way, I can take my time looking back at them, like the apple sculpture Epel-san made for me.
Home Tap 5: Yup, don't worry, I'm listening. I was just capturing into my memory banks the way you looked as you got all worked up, just because I wasn't answering.
Home Tap - Groovy: Ah, you're finally here! I was waiting for you to come say hi to me. I'm not going to let you leave my side today until I'm completely satisfied.
Duo: [ORTHO]: Thanks for the birthday wishes, Sebek-san! [SEBEK]: You better enjoy yourself, Ortho!
Birthday Login Message: Hey, do you know what today is? That's right, it's my manufacturing... I mean, my birthday! I love birthdays, because I get to spend so much time with everyone. I could barely wait for the date to change over! Will you come to the party, too? Hehe, awesome. Let's have tons of fun today!

Not Quite Hidden AU: Part 10. Word Count: 692. Readers chose: Ask if he has questions.
Mildly infuriating as it might be that the child apparently thinks Draxum is weird, he’s got some rather more pressing concerns at the moment.  He crosses his arms behind his back.  “Surely you had your own questions to ask.  You must be observant if you knew that I recognized you.  Are you not curious?”
The boy looks around the study for a long moment.  “You have lots of books, Donnie would like that.”
A non sequitur.  Perhaps the child is hiding his motives for coming.  Is it possible his father sent him?  But that ferret obviously harbors a strong dislike towards Draxum, and no logical parent would send their child alone to gather information from someone they held a grudge against.  That said, the man had seemed rather… emotional, to say the least.  Most people avoided raising their fur like that, especially in public.  It was just as rude and aggressive as yelling, for some species even more so.  Someone who reacted with such volatility in a grocery store of all places seemed rather unlikely to behave rationally at other times.
Draxum rubs his chin thoughtfully as Huginn settles onto his shoulder.  “And which one of your siblings is Donnie?”  Perhaps he can use this opportunity to gather more information on the lives of his turtles.
The child tilts his head.  “Are those green crystal lights?”
“Ah—yes.”  What does that have to do with anything?
“Why green?  Blue's a way better color.”
“What, do you want the lights blue?  I can change them.”  It's simple to reach out towards the crystals and adjust their mystic output, and while it feels rather odd to have his study bathed in blue light instead of green, something about the grin on the child’s face is rather nice to witness.
“Woah!  I didn't thought you were so good with magic!”  The boy looks around appreciatively, scanning the color differences cast over the room.  He drums his fingers on the desk, pausing as his hand brushes against a few of the papers still resting there.  Just some notes Draxum had been writing down after today’s encounter, so why would they draw his attention?
Draxum watches with a mild sense of amusement as the boy twists his head, frowning and mouthing the words as he reads off the sheet.  “My writing seems to have drawn your interest, child.”
The boy hums.  “You spelled Dad’s name wrong.  The P goes before the L.”
Draxum snatches the paper away.  “What are you talking about, I wouldn't have—” Oh, it looks like he did write Slpinter.  Oops.
“An’ you didn't get Donnie’s or Mikey's right, either.  They're really way longer.” The child then has the audacity to grin up at him, kicking his heels against the desk.  “Didja forget their names already?”
Draxum is not going to entertain this conversational thread any longer.  He leans around the turtle and slaps his notes down on the far end of his desk.  “My notes are personal effects and I'd prefer you not go through them any longer.”
The turtle reaches for the paper, and Draxum drags it out of his reach.  That isn't enough to deter him from making another grab, and another as Draxum once more pulls away the sheet.  The boy grunts something under his breath.
“Speak up, brat,” Draxum snaps, and if it sounds a little more like an order than a request, at least it works.
The child huffs, looks him in the eye, and says with all the derision such a small face can muster: “You're annoying.”
“Excuse me?!”
The turtle reaches for the paper again, this time managing to latch onto it.  “You're annoying, and weird, and creepy, and I wanna go home!”
“You—what, you come here just to disrespect me?  Is that what you wanted?”  A growl builds in the back of Draxum's throat, barely restrained.  “You little—”
A small tap at his shoulder, barely noticeable. Just claws drumming against his armor.
“Boss, look, the kid’s not gonna cooperate much longer,” Huginn says.  “I'll just take him back now, hopefully his dad won't even know he was gone.”
Draxum bites back a sharp retort.  Inhales.  Exhales.

FALSE LOVERS CHAPTER XXVII
"IVE ALWAYS WONDERED if this day would ever come. I'm sure that some of you have already heard of this.." Albert turned his head from the dark window to face the others, attempting to speak over the thunder outside "The situation has become extremely worrisome..this crisis is the first of its kind that the moriarty family has ever had to face."
Crack
Lightning had hit a tree outside, burning it to ashes dramatically. Rain poured down in typical British fashion, the windows foggy, covering the gloomy sky.
"Let's work together in order to build strength." The brunette clenched his fist tightly, brows furrowed with determination as they all huddled together, hands upon hands. "we'll overcome this no matter what the cost..! Is everyone ready? All for one and One for All! Let's go!"
The door creaked open mysteriously, pulling the attention of the men to the entrance.
"Sorry we're late..what the hell..?!" Bonde had opened the door with (name) and Josephine stood behind him, bags in hands after they had just returned from a shopping trip
"What on earth is going on?" (Name) asked, her eyebrow raised in suspicion.
"Tea party...?"
"That's right Bonde. As you know," Albert informed the trio who were stood in front of him "families hold tea parties on a rotational basis. Tea parties are often held in the day time, opposed to night parties. I've tried my best to hold it off but the other day, Earl Rockwell finally called me out.."
"It was about time," (Name) commented, sitting down with a sigh, legs folded over each other. "Frankly, I think we've been avoiding them for a while now."
"I was reluctant, but I agreed to host the party at our manor this weekend." Albert added
Josephine nodded "If the party is to be held on Sunday, we don't have much time to spare. We should get started on preparations as soon as possible, provided there aren't any obstacles in our way."
"I have business to attend to on Sunday," (Name) said abruptly.
"Care to elaborate?" Louis asked
"I..erm.." she hesitated, looking for an excuse to not go to the tea party "I have a research project due in a few weeks for the university."
"No you don't," William said, debunking her excuse. "I recall you saying you wished to spend Sunday reading-"
There was a moments silence, all eyes on (Name) who suddenly found her shoes rather intriguing. She lifted her head with a groan "Fine, I don't want to host the tea party. Why on earth would I? All I'd do is have disturbing older men explain concepts of various natures which I am clearly more educated in, or worse, they'll flirt with me and treat me like they do a common harlot."
"If she's not doing it then neither am I!" Moran exclaimed quickly.
"(Name), you're attending the tea party just like the rest of us," Louis said sternly, turning to Moran. "We all are."
"I don't want to," she folded her arms over her chest with a childish frown "You can't make me!"
Albert sighed, glancing at William as if asking for help. He should've known having his brother marry a spoilt noblewoman wouldn't be easy, regardless of how in love with her he may have been.
William nodded, scoring over to (Name) and leaning in to whisper into her ear as she listened attentively before sighing, speaking up reluctantly.
"Fine, I'll do it."
Albert blinked in surprise, curious as to what he said to make (Name) agree so easily.
"Despite the whole fake marriage ordeal, many ladies still have been attempting to gain access to Will using various excuses." Albert spoke, continuing after the small issue.  "Such women will use the party as an excuse to approach him which means that you..!" He pointed to the (hair colour)-ette dramatically "Will have to keep them off, alright (name)?"
"Roger that." She said, much more cooperative than before.
William chuckled. "In that sense, you're also in danger Albert."
"Of course I know how to deal with the ladies but when they gather in large groups..they gossip and become impossible to read.." all the men in the room shifted their eyes over to (name), who was still despairing over the thought of socialising against her will.
"Huh...?" She murmured
"You're the only one of us who'll be able to outsmart the ladies, (nickname), considering both the brat and moneypenny will be acting as maids." Sebastian said to the confused woman "So we'll need you to keep a close eye on them"
"Shut your mouth," Josephine frowned in annoyance at Moran "I'm far more capable than you are..you'll probably just go drinking whilst the rest of us are working hard.."
"Surely you wouldn't place such a grand burden upon only me," (name) said, returning to the point "you all know how difficult it is for me to socialise. I can't even read basic social cues half the time."
"You'll be fine, (Name)." William placed a hand on hers reassuringly "We wouldn't choose you if we didn't think you were able."
"The only reason you chose me for anything was because I'm handy with a knife." She said, revoking her hand "But if you insist, I suppose I could always try.."
"Okay..let's go over our responsibilities one last time." Jack said, pulling out a small folded piece of paper from his breast pocket. He unfolded it, reading aloud from the list "As soon as young Al's toast is over, I will attend to the guests at the main venue."
"I mainly manage the party's progress" said Louis with a nod
"And as head maid, Josephine and I will take charge of the maids to serve you." Moneypenny stated, adjusting her head piece.
"I'll be in the garden, talking to a few of the guests while keeping a close eye on the more curious ladies." (Name) sighed. She wasn't a fan of tea parties. Ball room parties were usually much more entertaining, possibly because someone would usually somehow die during them but also because she was able to stand aside without any need to talk to anyone. Even at her own wedding, she refused to speak to any guests who weren't her family or close friends because she had gotten so fed up.
"Our position is in the garden, William." Albert reminded the blond.
William nodded, "Yes, brother. Let's monitor the situation and help each other in need."
"I'm mainly here to protect you two." Spoke a butler-ified Moran.
"I'll be in the rose garden and entertaining the guests there." Fred murmured, fidgeting with his gloves.
"And I'm in charge of the guests in all areas of the manor." Bond grinned, too enthusiastically for (Name)'s liking.
"That's right," Jack nodded "Bond is our so called 'Fighter', because a 'battle field' needs personnel who can respond quickly to unexpected situations."
"Battle field..?" Fred repeated nervously.
"It won't be that bad," Josephine reassured him, placing a hand on his shoulder "Believe me, I've had a lot worse with (Name)..once she got carried away and murdered a man in one of the Marquis (Last Name)'s villas during a party, but in my lady's defence, he had deeply offended her with his remarks."
"what did he say?" asked Fred in a mousey voice
Josephine chuckled nervously "let's just say, you can't insult the female sex without provoking (Name)."
"By the way," James said, changing the topic promptly "What's Herder doing?"
"Ah, he's already in position," Moran explained. Herder was stuck in the basement, doing puzzles whilst listening out for guests who might find the weaponry.
The instructor glaced around "Everyone is ready." He confirmed "It's time..!"
Not even a second later, the street outside the manor's gates were filled with carriages, full of noblewomen, their giggles echoing as they stepped out of their carriages
(Name) flinched upon hearing all the loud noises coming from the ladies leaving their carriages. She noticed there were a few males amongst them but not nearly enough as the noblewomen. A ratio of about 1:8, she had observed, and all her comrades would be counting on her to navigate this all in the appropriate manner.
"Now that we're all here.." Albert started his little toast once all the fawning ladies had surrounded him whilst the young noblmen who were waiting for the toast to be over so they could instantly made a bee-line to the poor overwhelemed (Name)  "It's thanks to Lord Rockwell that we were all able to welcome you here today. As you can see there are many shy people in our family," he side eyed his sister-in-law, resembling her deceased brother for a moment "even standing up here is making me a bit nervous. Please take this as an opportunity to look at our rose garden. It has been blooming very well."
Albert picked up a glass of champagne carefully and raised it as he ended his toast
"Last but not least, there are refreshments laid out for everyone to enjoy. Please take as much time as you'd like to talk to us," He lifted his glass higher "Well then..cheers!"
Within seconds of the toast ending, both William and Albert were surrounded by multiple noblewomen. Of course, (name) hadn't had it any easier and was soon approached by multiple noblemen who were exited to converse with her. During her time in University, multiple peers were interested in her but disliked the idea of getting closer to her in fear that she, a woman with an education, would go against their ideals for such a lady, or rather their stereotypes.
How abhorent! A woman with the ability to think for herself!
She had a mysterious charm to some. Usually she would be seen with a blank look on her face, whilst other times, she concealed her ture nature with a polite yet deceiving smile. Although she was 'married' in the eyes of the law, it wouldn't hurt anyone if they merely converse with such an elegant lady.
"I had looked forward to talking to all of you, but I can't talk to any of you if you all are speaking at once.." Albert said, snapping (Name) out of her thoughts. "and I don't think a tea party is supposed to be like this. I was hoping we'd be more elegant and austere..." He trailed off, gently grabbing a lady, who stood beside him, by her chin, guding her gaze to his emerald eyes.
The noblewomen and noblemen had caught onto what Albert had meant and slowly dispersed, allowing others to take their time. Some had headed for the greenhouse, full of flowers that had been cultivated by none other than Fred, whilst others stuck around with the two brothers, batting their eyes and attempting to gain their attention.
(Name) could only furrow a brow and sigh as she watched, quickly distracted by a young man whwo haad caught her attention with a question once it had all died down, far more unique than the ususal questions about her life in England, even if she had been living there for 8 years, or older men attempting to make her feel like an idiot.
"My apologies if I am out of line, but what are your opinions on the recent Jack the Ripper case," a man with dark hair hair asked her. He seemed around her age, maybe a little younger, and had a polite smile which made his eyes crinkle slightly in the corners "You seem so knowledge on all subjects of conversation, not just superficial ones like most men may assume.."
"Well, I as a sophisticated lady of polite society, could never be exposed to such tragedies, I have no knowledge of such a case," She jested, a smile on her lips "Although, I'd say the Yard are trying to cover it up with their recent list of suspects, surely nobody would believe that.." she said under her breath
"Yes, well," He took a glass of wine from a servant, swirling the drink in his glass, "I have a theory that the entire thing was a hoax to promote that Conan Doyle's next story."
"You read the Sherlock Holmes series?" (Name) laughed at his theory"That's interesting, I've actually made his aquaintance, we met on the Noahtic.. and a train to London, both times a murder had occured. He just seems to be riddled with bad luck, it must be something to do with his hair."
"Is that why he covers it up with that dreadful cap?" the man asked with an amused tone
(Name) shrugged her shoulders as she bit into a small cake, "Personally, I think he looks better in darker tones, and that cloak does him no justice whatsoever." She paused, realising she was actually having fun "I don't believe we've been formally introduced, dear stranger. Perhaps you could change that?"
He took her left hand, kissing her knuckles over the silk glove she wore. "Lord Oliver Hastings, first grandson of the Duke of Hastings it's a pleasure to make your aquaintance, Lady Moriarty."
"I really shouldn't be surprised you already are familiar with my name," She smiled, a genuine smile at that
"Well why wouldn't I? You are rather famous amongst the ton, after all, although, I first saw your name in a research paper you had published in your Almer Mater, Oxford ring any bells?" Oliver reciprocated the smile
"I'm surprised anyone would read that, I was half asleep whilst I wrote it. Do you still study there?" She asked, her eyes drifting over to William, who stood in front of a group of ladies
Oliver shook his head with a laugh "God no, do i really seem that naive? I graduated last year, personally, I was more fond of subjects which frequire critical thought rather than just making up numbers to solve, so I studied Literature and Philosophy mostly, but I made an exception for what you had to say in that little thesis of yours, and I must say, I've been dying to talk to you since."
"Well consider yourself saved from such a tragic fate." She chuckled, glancing again at William who seemed to be struggling with a flirtatious young, no scrath that, she was definitley considered a spinster, woman.
"Is something bothering you? You keep looking over there."
"Oh no, I'm fine. It's my husband I'm worried about." She turned back to face him, her (eye colour) eyes on his blue ones "He's even more socially inept than I am."
"And that's why you're seen so frequently in polite society?" He asked
She frowned in faux annoyance "Doesn't mean I enjoy it." He laughed once more in response whilst (Name) sighed looking back at William, the damsel in distress needed saving "I'm sorry, I'm going to have to cut the conversation short...I don't think I'm a fan of bigamy." She half joked  before walking away, seeing the look of relief on William's face as he noticed her presence.
"What's this, darling?" A sweet voice, almost unrecognisable, called out to poor William, still embarrassed after that 'subtle' confession. If he had taken any more steps further back, he would have tripped and broken his skull in half.
"(N-Name)." William, face somewhat flushed, managed to utter.
He didn't often stutter, rather his speech was always elegant and sophisticated, the 'confidence' he exuded was never not noticeable in his speech and yet, that voice...that siren like voice had The Lord of Crime trembling and nervous. William could feel his heart speeding up, eventually pounding in his chest even though his wife was a good few feet away from him, but of course even the mere mention of Lady (Name) could make his brain numb with overwhelming thoughts.
(Name) walked through the other noble ladies, admittedly rather jealous now that she had finally come to terms with these feelings she had. She gave a polite smile, whispering a few 'pardon me's and 'good afternoon's
"Now that I recall," She said, pushing past the woman who had attempted to make advances on William "We really bonded over one particular consultation, didn't we?"
"We did indeed.." William said, still flustered. His cheeks grew a deeper shade of red as (name) cling to his arm, her frame pressed against his as her fingers caressed his bicep.
"I really am lucky to have such an intelligent, and not to mention handsome husband," (Name) complimented, using her palm to cup his chin and bring him to face her. She turned to the other ladies, flashing a glare at the woman who seemed to have made her husband uncomfortable and then returned back to her lovey dovey expression, smile from ear to ear.
"My apologies ladies but it appears you must seek consultation another time. I have something my dearest William and I need to discuss in private." She said with a wink, dragging a stunned William towards the nearest entrance to the manor.
Once they had entered, climbing upstairs, away from the guests, (name) dropped his hand promptly with a groan.
"A 'thank you' would be nice." (Name) said as they walked down the quiet halls. "I had to practically fight off all the men, no thanks to you involving me in this boring tea party..although I must say, I expected a lot less gentlemen within our age range, I typically would attract the older, perverted sort, rather than the nice ones we had this afternoon."
William clenched his jaw, fighting back his jealous feelings "You found them attractive?" He managed to say.
"Well, there were a few handsome ones, I suppose." She put a finger to her chin, lips pressed together in thought.
Was she aware of the effect that she had on him? William was always so rational and calm and he hadn't ever felt so envious of anyone, not in his entire life. Of course he could be occasionally jealous when he was but a child, often looking towards those more fortunate and wondering 'why not me?'
The last time he had felt like this was when (Name)'s first lover wasn't 6 feet underground and torn to pieces, whenever he would see her smiling with the older boy or laughing at some very clearly not amusing joke (he often thought he was much more entertaining than that dull man, his personality was like that of a lemon which had been squeezed dry). Once he had even seen him kiss her, not very skilfully and much too rough for someone like (Name), he would be so much better for her.
It was in between some shelves in the library when he was trying to find a book on probabilities of all things. He had to resist the urge to throw it right in his hideous face, at the very least (or murder him but (Name) beat him to something for once). William actually remembered asking himself what the probability that she would rid herself of that fool and turn her attention to him.
"Actually there was one particular man, dark hair, rather beautiful, very funny...what was his name again..? Oh yes, Oliver..." She was almost giggling like a teenager, hands clasped behind her back in an innocent manner. The description seemed rather familiar. Was she really attracted to 'amusing' dark haired men?
God, she was aggravating.
But so beautiful too, and witty of course. And her eyes were so captivating, so enthralling. William had known this since forever. Nobody knew it more than him. He'd often gaze into her eyes, especially if she was enthusiastic or explaining a mathematical concept to him.
"Is that so?" He choked out, eyes lingering on her as she brushed her gloved hand against the textured wallpaper.
She hummed with a nod "I was convinced he fancied me, but of course, you being you, you had women practically throwing themselves at you and I had to come to your rescue."
"Women do not throw themselves at me." He stated curtly.
"Oh yes they do, professor." (Name) teased "You aren't exactly an eyesore, are you? A nice physique, a pretty face, and a tolerable personality. You're considered desirable amongst the women of the upper class."
But was he desirable to her?
He had to take a deep breath. She was doing this on purpose, she had to be. She must have caught onto his attraction for her and now he was being tormented by a higher power for his desperations.
"More so than this Oliver?" He blurted out. He had meant to say something completely different, but it was as if his brain was no longer thinking for him, rather his heart was.
Had Freud been well established in 1879, one may call such a mistake a 'Freudian Slip', but of course, he wasn't. He had to wait till the 1900s for that. For now, though, dear reader, we could call this a "Liam-being-a-desperate-man-whore-slip."
(Name) had to fight back the smirk on her lips, wrestling with her desire to laugh at him for now feeling the same way he had made her felt, although William wasn't flirting with anyone in an attempt to make (Name) jealous, he was just existing and trying to give advice to women who couldn't help but adore him.
She leaned against the wall, inches away from her bedroom door. "Is someone jealous?" She asked, voice sickeningly sweet. William could never truly hate her, well he did at one point, but it wasn't hate so much as it was irritation at her antics, yet she was only a child, a mere teenager. He couldn't blame her. But God, the way she smirked up at him made him want to wipe that expression off her face, it was so unlike him.
"Jealous?" He repeated slowly, processing and analysing his own feelings. He had long known how he felt for (Name), that was certain, but he hadn't expected it to become more than simply admiring from afar..and yet here they were.
"The mere mention of another man seems to be making your blood boil.." she said smugly, eyes shining in the sunlight "I never knew your affections for me were so grand."
"It's not that," William spoke, trying to articulate his speech when all he truly wanted was to press his lips against hers, his voice slowly raising as he grew more tense. "It's improper in polite society for a married woman to act flirtatiously with other men."
"I didn't take you as one for polite society, William." She retorted, fingers ghosting over his shoulder "I thought that was something you aimed to destroy, sweetheart."
"You know what I mean." He said, red eyes piercing through her (eye colour) eyes. "What would everyone think knowing you've had extra marital affairs?"
"Now this really isn't like you," (Name) laughed, hand slowly drifting down to his arm "I thought none of that bothered you? We don't exactly have any commitments to one another-"
"It was implied." He cut her off, almost aggressively. How dare she bring up the initial regulations for this contract marriage when she knew the lines were blurred so heavily at the point, ever since they had slept together, no, ever since they had even kissed! His palms rested against the wall, just short of (Name)'s ears while she tried to stand straight, unwilling to allow him the upper hand. "During our past two years of marriage, you haven't expressed any interest in any men, and there is no need to change that now."
There was a short silence. The only thing (Name) could hear was her own rapid heart beat and the sound of William's soft breathing as he lowered his face away from her gaze. The position she was in was truly unfortunate, but not exactly unwelcome. He had both arms caged around her while she leaned against the wall, her knees feeling slightly weak as they bent slightly, making her feel much smaller than she was. She had retracted her hand from him, holding to wall to keep herself steady as she attempted to anticipate his next move. It was like chess, except with just the king and queen. Actually, maybe it wasn't that similar.
"And it does bother me," William eventually spoke, voice ragged and breathless "Ceaselessly. I hated seeing you with that womaniser. And when I had finally thought he was gone and you would turn your attention elsewhere, more only followed..but once we had both left university, I had to witness you sneaking off at balls, usually with that Lord Henry and-"
"So you did know who Theodore was?" She asked, irritated by his confession "And you felt the need to pretend you didn't, as if you weren't spying on me the whole time! God you are insufferable!"
"Not nearly as insufferable as you are!" He glared down at her.
"You know that they didn't mean anything to me, I don't see why this is even a point of discussion," (Name) defended herself, leaning her head against the wall "Why should I be held responsible?"
William unconsciously clenched his teeth, eyebrows furrowed together. "Must I make it any clearer to you? Are you really that foolish, that naive?"
"Perhaps I am, I'm just a stupid whore to you, aren't I?" She spat, a raised eyebrow as she waited for him to speak. "But I think I know jealousy when I see it."
"It's not that I'm jealous, it's just that.." he almost stammered before snapping, much to (Name)'s surprise.  "You're mine, (Name). My wife, not Oliver's, not Lord Henry's, and certainly not Theodore Arden's."
Since when was he so possessive..? And why was it undeniably attractive?
His words hung heavy in the air, realisations to his rudeness hitting him suddenly. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to say that.." he apologised, pulling away in embarrassment, averting his gaze.  "I shouldn't have.."
(Name)'s fingers looped through his belt, grasping onto his arm as she  pulled him back in for a fiery kiss. He was quick to return the gesture, his hands making theirway to her back and pulling her closer, seeking more of her.
"You're so irritating.." She murmured against his lips "I despise you with every breath."
He chuckled bitterly at her words, his lips parting and coliding with hers "And you aren't? Nobody has been on my mind more than you..you're a distraction, an obstacle. I can't believe I was foolish enough to marry you."
"Believe me, it hasn't been easy for me either," (Name) groaned against his lips, pulling his hair. "Can't you do anything right? Kiss me properly...I hadn't waited that long just for you to learn nothing from our previous encounter, or maybe you've forgotten."
"I promise, (Name), I haven't..I think about it constantly, to the point it haunts my dreams." He moaned as she bit his lip, twisting the doorknob to her bedroom and opening the door with a creek "But if I didn't, I'd trust you to help me recall."
She cupped his cheeks in her palms, walking into the room with him as he shut the door behind them, allowing them some privacy. "So I'm better than you at something for once, and you have no feelings of hatred? How underwhelming."
"I hate you." He said as he pressed her against her bedroom wall, the wallpaper contrasting beautifully with her skin. "I hate you so passionately I don't know what to do with myself half the time. I wish I could say I regret meeting you but then I wouldn't be here with you.."
"Mm.." (Name) hummed, her hand making its way to his hair again, her fingers tangling in those blond locks she adored "I hate you more..if you hadn't bribed me to attend this party, we wouldn't be doing this right now."
"Then thank God I did," he smirked against her lips, breathless from kissing her so long with barely enough room to breathe. His mind was hazy now, and he was just going to exert himself even further, but he didn't mind. Anything for (Name).
"Yo Patterson," Moran called out to the man in glasses "You- this was a difficult win.."
"I understand..it seems everyone had a hard time today," He pushed up his spectacles with his pinky
"What about everyone else? And the old man?"
"Albert and the old man already went to their rooms...William and (Name) left early, and I haven't seen them since, but they're around...and moneypenny's gone home." Moran explained
"Really? I brought some alcohol." Patterson smiled, holding up the bottle
"Sorry," The colonel smirked
"It seems Bond is already asleep..and I've come all this way..at least you can join me for a drink, Moran."  Patterson said through the snores of Bond, Fred and Josephine who were curled up on the couch together.
"By the way Moran," He continued, gazing out of the window "I hope you didn't put your hands on any of the ladies during the tea party."
"I didn't have time for that! None of us did, we were all doing our jobs." He protested, already starting to get tipsy.
"Hm? I thought you said William and (Name).." the detective paused, shrugging his shoulders "I see you've finely seen the joy of hard work."
"You don't think they..?"
"You never know."

Chapter index at the end of chapter one
Jing Yuan isn’t expecting to meet you here out of all places.
He'd been gathering information about you as the conversation with Luocha can only take him so far. The more Jing Yuan found, the more curious he became. What’s a god doing posing as a chemistry student at Xianzhou University? Why are you suddenly researching The Withering now if you have something to do with it? How could you have escaped his radar all this time?
Your photo sparked something when he saw it for the first time.
There’s something familiar about you that he can’t put his finger on, but he knows he’s never seen you before. If he did, he would remember you. There’s an innocence about you that’s different from the vixens Jing Yuan has always been with.
Now, seeing you in person, the familiarity has grown stronger, and it’s eating away at him. He needs to know why, and Jing Yuan is a man who always gets his answers, whatever the cost.
As Jing Yuan walks towards you and Dan Heng, the great white shark encircles the area. “How do you know who I am, sweetheart?” The nickname almost makes you cringe, but your poker face doesn’t falter. “I think I’d remember a pretty face such as yourself. Or…” His predatory gaze land on Dan Heng. “Has the goody-two-shoes been gossiping about me?”
Did you forget? You’re my evil, soul-sucking, fake ex-fianceé who I want to rip apart and feed to the sharks. That’s what you want to say, but is that a little too intense for a first meeting in this time period? Yeah, probably. So, you opt for something more… subtle. Yet, it might give you some valuable information.
“We've met." Dan Heng looks back at you. Clearly, he's not expecting your answer either. "It's a given you don't remember me. Your reputation precedes you."
Jing Yuan narrows his eyes. So, you have met before. Sometime. Somewhere. But it doesn't look like you're going to tell him when or where. Jing Yuan has decided not to call you out as a god. It's obvious you aren't fond of him, not that he expected it, but he definitely isn't expecting the sassiness. He doesn't need to spark a train of thought that leads to you suspecting he's in cahoots with Luocha. At first, Jing Yuan plans to get close to you, but seeing as you somehow know him and whether that's because of Dan Heng or not, it's time for Plan B.
Jing Yuan stops a short distance away from you and Dan Heng. “Regardless if we’ve met in the past or not, it’s fate that brought us back together, is it not? So, let’s put the past behind us and start anew.”
Why is Jing Yuan so interested in you? He shouldn’t know who you are. Does he? Dan Heng glances at you; there’s also something odd about you. Your body language makes it very clear you don’t want him around. Dan Heng isn’t too surprised as you already know about Jing Yuan. But it somehow feels… personal.
“I'd rather not.”
Are you trying to test him? Probably. Is Jing Yuan going to take it? Definitely not. But he’s a man of class. At least that’s what he thinks.
“But I want to.” Jing Yuan steps toward you, but Dan Heng prevents him from getting any closer. Jing Yuan shoots him an unamused look. “I’m not going to hurt your pretty little girlfriend. Trust me.”
You know Jing Yuan as a master liar. If he's anything like his past self, you'd rather die than become his puppet again. This time... you will win.
“Let me be candid,” Jing Yuan says, looking back at you. “This is the first time I need to know where I’ve met someone before. I can't fathom why you think so badly of me." He leans closer to you much to Dan Heng’s very obvious dismay. “So, why don't you enlighten me over a coffee date, Princess?" Jing Yuan looks at Dan Heng out of the corner of his eye. “The boyfriend can tag along as a plus one.”
“Pass.”
Dan Heng almost smiles at the blunt, cold way you rejected Jing Yuan's invitation. He takes your hand and says, “Let’s go.”
You and Dan Heng are about halfway across the room until Jing Yuan says, “You still haven’t given me an answer, Dan Heng.” You feel his grip tighten around your hand. “If you leave with her, I’ll take your answer as a no.”
Dan Heng doesn’t turn around and continues walking. Jing Yuan sighs and looks up at the great white shark that's staring at him. When Jing Yuan got close to you, he saw you weren’t wearing the pendant he and Luocha were looking for.
“What's so special about a locket?” Jing Yuan asked, leaning back. One leg is crossed over the other as he stared at his companion from across the table.
“There should be only one in existence,” Luocha answered, and Jing Yuan raised a brow. “It was an artifact that belonged to my great-grandfather.”
“Ah, yes. The one who lost his mind.”
“The locket was passed down for generations until it went missing, and I haven’t seen it for many years. And now it reappeared around the neck of a woman who’s a god and someone who has something to do with The Withering.”
“Then, perhaps it never belonged to your grandfather. Perhaps it belonged to her. And… perhaps the locket also has something to do with the disease.” Jing Yuan had his hands together on his knees. “How did your great-grandfather get that locket in the first place? Did he make it?”
“No. He found it.”
Jing Yuan vaguely knew about Luocha’s great-grandfather and his descent into mental hell. Jing Yuan never knew the reason why behind the man's suffering… until now. Luocha's great-grandfather had found a locket during his earlier years as an archaeologist. Despite being warned not to take things that didn’t belong to him, he’d secretly kept the locket, thinking that he could make money from it as it was made of real gold.
“It was by accident that he found out it was imbued with magical properties.”
Jing Yuan’s eyes almost widened. “Magical properties?” he repeated as if unable to believe what his friend had just said. “Are you aware of what you just said?”
Luocha poured himself another drink. “Very much so.” He picked up his filled glass and slightly raised it. But when Jing Yuan didn't pick up his intentions, Luocha put his glass down. "Come now, Jing Yuan. It’s not like you to be so serious.”
“Get to the point,” Jing Yuan said flatly.
Luocha sighed but continued the story. “He was curious about what was inside. Yet, he couldn’t open it. He tried everything, but what was strange was that despite the efforts, the pendant remained undamaged. So, he tried burning it. What do you think happened next?”
Jing Yuan poured himself a drink. “Was the locket the cause of his mental anguish?”
It was. And by the time Luocha’s great-grandfather wanted to expose the locket to the world, it went missing.
“Well, I’m sure the man is rolling in his grave now that it reappeared around a god’s neck.” Jing Yuan put his empty glass down. “I wouldn't be surprised if magic exists.” He began spinning the large, metal ring on his finger. “The Withering is a prime example. But, now that the locket is in the possession of a woman who has something to do with this god-forsaken disease, can we assume that she and the locket hold the answers we need?”
The men held up their glasses and clinked them together. “A woman who started the curse and a possible... cure in the form of a locket. How interesting.”
“But we cannot act so rashly.” Jing Yuan took a long sip of his drink. “Even if we get the locket back, I doubt we can open it.”
“Does this mean you want to wait? Wait until they get it open?”
“The locket found her for a reason.” Jing Yuan’s gaze turned predatory. “I believe she is the key.”
Why aren’t you wearing the pendant? Does this mean it’s not in your possession anymore? Jing Yuan exhales sharply. He never thought warming up to you would be a walk in the park. You know Dan Heng who has his suspicions about him. Then, there’s Lan. God knows what he’s up to. Still, he never expected you to be this unwelcoming.
Jing Yuan had taken Dan Heng’s lack of response as a decline to his invitation to work together. Fine. Jing Yuan isn’t the type to beg, and he isn’t going to start now. Men or Women. People come to him for favours. You and Dan Heng will be no different. You, however, are under the suspicion of starting The Withering, and until Jing Yuan figures out the truth, he is not going to let you go.
Somewhere in the aquarium, Dan Heng is still holding your hand but you haven’t the slightest idea of where he’s taking you. He hasn’t spoken a word nor has he looked back. Is something wrong? Did Jing Yuan get under his skin? Because he sure as hell—
“Do you know him?” Dan Heng has stopped but he still hasn’t turned around.
“Jing Yuan? I—”
“Personally. Do you know him… personally?”
The question takes you off guard. But before you can say anything, Dan Heng turns around, half of his face hidden in shadow due to the lighting.
“He’s a person from my past,” you say, sounding a little defeated. “I had a dream about him yesterday night… I was once engaged to him.” For once, Dan Heng’s surprise is clear. He’s stunned at the revelation, and you don’t blame him. “But we never got married. At least, I don’t think we did.” After telling him about your dream, your voice drops. “I don’t know what happened after that night with Young.” Then, you look down. “Young was executed, and I wouldn’t be surprised if Jing Yuan was behind it.”
Dan Heng puts his hand around your head and pulls you close. You take comfort in hearing his heartbeat as you hug him. Dan Heng can’t tell if Jing Yuan remembers you or not. He narrows his eyes as he recalls the way Jing Yuan flirted with you. Does that mean he remembers you? Or does it have nothing to do with the past and everything to do with the present? Everyone is starting on a clean slate. Putting his jealousy aside, Dan Heng takes a small breath to think more rationally.
Does Jing Yuan know you have something to do with The Withering? But, that's not possible. Unless someone told him about you.
As if reading his mind, you say, “Luocha, Caelus’s new doctor… he was my brother. And I think he was working with Jing Yuan.” Dan Heng slowly lets you go; when he looks down at you, he can see the gears turning in your head. “I don’t have proof, but…”
“He was your brother,” Dan Heng says. “He should’ve been on your side.”
You sigh. “My thoughts exactly. Maybe Jing Yuan promised him something or gave him something in return."
“Regardless, we should be careful of both of them.” You nod. “And…” Dan Heng exhales sharply and says coldly, “We’re not working with Jing Yuan.”
You have no complaints. But, thinking rationally, while Jing Yuan is a douchebag, everyone is still after the same goal. Who started The Withering? Why? And… how do we get rid of it? You’re sure Dan Heng knows this, too.
Dan Heng looks towards the tank. His hand finds yours and gives it a tight squeeze. “Did you ever have feelings for him?” He isn't looking at you when he asks the question. But as if feeling your stare at him, he slowly meets your eyes.
“I thought I did,” you answer honestly. “I vaguely remember moments when he would keep me company. But he probably had ulterior motives even back then.”
So, you were fond of Jing Yuan once upon a time. It just happened he turned out to be a conniving bastard. Still, it makes Dan Heng wonder… if Jing Yuan wasn’t, would you have realized your feelings for Young?
At Dan Heng’s silence, you gently poke his cheek. “Hey, what are you thinking about?” Then, after a small chuckle. “Don’t tell me you’re jealous.”
“I am.”
Your eyes slightly widen, clearly not expecting the confession. Dan Heng wonders if Jing Yuan loved you but ruined it for himself. He knows it’s pointless and ridiculous to make assumptions now as you obviously have more important things to worry about. But in this time period, it’s a chance to start over.
Dan Heng puts a hand on your cheek and slightly leans in. Your face turns a slight pink which almost makes him smile.
“No matter where we are,” he says softly, “I won’t let him have you.”
His lips are inches from yours, and you see nothing but warmth when you look into his eyes. You blink once, and Dan Heng’s soft lips are on yours. Then, your lips part, allowing his tongue to meet yours in a dance that sends a wildfire of raging flames throughout your body. Dan Heng’s hand grazes the delicate line of your jaw, strands of your hair whispering against his fingers as he kisses you with an unparalleled urgency.
You taste like everything he thought you would... and more. Like berries bathed in the sun on a warm summer day. Dan Heng has never wanted anyone like this. Ever. The more he kisses you, the bigger his craving and the less he wants to stop.
If he is the moon, you are his sun, the one he longs to see, to touch, and to love.
You pull him closer as the world around you melts away. It’s your first time kissing Dan Heng, yet he knows exactly where and how to draw those quiet, breaths from your sweet lips that leave you fighting for more. He already has you mapped out; his fingers tease your curves as your skin burns with a desire that you want him to satisfy.
You’re rudely drawn back to reality when the kiss stops, leaving you at a literal loss for words. Your hearts are beating wildly as you look at each other, the fire evident in your eyes. You see his eyes land on your lips again, and you two lean in for another kiss. His hot mouth is on yours again, his tongue teasing your bottom lip before pulling away.
“Never thought you’d be such a tease,” you say breathlessly.
His lips curve into a small, sexy smirk.
You have to stop yourself from grabbing him in for another kiss as you hear rushed footsteps and children laughing and screaming. Dan Heng steps away from you, and you turn to see a large sea turtle swim by just as a few families enter the room.
You take his hand, having made up your mind. That kiss has answered all of your questions. You don’t want this man. You need him. And you’d be damned if you were to let him go. A god and a human? It’s never happened, not that you’re aware. But there’s a first for everything. You’ve played the role of fate for many people, bringing them together to find their happiness. But now it’s your turn. It’s time to find your happiness.
Dan Heng turns to you as he holds your hand. He can see the answer in your eyes but also something else: the beginning of so much more.

Pom never thought he’d be hunched over at a desk reading about history. But here he is. Sitting in a public library with piles of books beside him. For the past couple of hours, he’s been trying to find out anything about the locket, magic, and… shapeshifters.
Pom was not supposed to exist. He was but a character in fairytales people told their children before bed. A mysterious shapeshifter who was a guardian of the woods. No one knew where the story came from as it was a tale passed from generation to generation. But most importantly, no one knew someone like Pom actually existed.
Occasionally, he ventured to the North, South, and even the Middle Kingdom in different forms. He was amused by the rivalry between humans and those that called themselves the human dragons, wondering who would get the last laugh. He wasn’t prepared to get tangled in their affairs.
Pom was sitting in his small cabin situated deep in the woods. It was where the fog was thick and surrounded by wetlands that would be impossible to traverse unless one had magic. Suddenly, he sensed a presence, and he immediately shut the book he was reading and stood. With a snap of his fingers, he teleported outside and to his alarm, he saw the silhouette of a figure in the fog walking effortlessly on the surface of the wetland. That was impossible; this person knew magic. Advanced magic.
When the figure finally came into view, Pom crossed his arms.
“The heir to the Middle Kingdom… What brings you here?”
Pom closes another book. While there’s a bunch of information about magic and shapeshifters in general, there’s nothing to tie them to the past or to Pom. But there must be a reason why he dreamt of being a shapeshifter and meeting Young.
There's a connection. Pom can feel it in his veins.
He's finally getting answers to his past, and his hunch has always been right. If Pom met Young, it's likely he also met you. How? When? In what form? For the first time in a long time, Pom feels like he's finally getting somewhere. And he'll see it to the end.
When he looks up, he’s surprised to see a familiar face. Luocha is walking towards him, eyes on an open book in his hands. Pom is about to get his attention, but before Luocha walks past the table, as if sensing someone’s looking at him, he turns and makes eye contact with Pom.
“Hiya.” Pom looks at the empty seat in front of him.
“I wasn’t expecting to see you here, Pom.” Luocha closes his book and sits across from him. He notices the many books about magic mythological creatures. “Are you interested in magic? If you are, we have something in common.”
“Really? I… never expected you to be curious about these types of things.”
Luocha scans the page. “Do you believe in magic?”
With the existence of gods and Pom's discovery that he used to be a shapeshifter, it would be almost criminal if magic didn't exist.
“Because I do.”
“You do?” Pom asks, surprised. "I wasn't expecting that."
“There’s a locket that I’m looking for.” Luocha closes the book and looks Pom in the eyes. “It looks exactly like the one your friend was wearing that day at the hospital.”
“Cupid's locket?” Pom takes it out of his breast pocket.
Luocha’s eyes slightly widen. “Yes. That’s the one. Mind if I see it?” Pom moves to give it to him, but Luocha catches his slight hesitation to which he asks, “Is something wrong?“
“Ah… well… It’s not exactly mine.”
Luocha chuckles. “I won’t run away with it.”
“Right. Of course not!”
After the locket is in his hand, Luocha carefully examines it.
“It can’t be opened,” Pom says. “At least, we haven’t figured out how.”
Still looking at the locket, Luocha asks, “Have you tried destroying it?”
“That’s… going a bit overboard.”
Luocha looks at Pom. “The locket I’m looking for can’t be destroyed.” Pom raises a brow. “That’s how I know it’s not an object of this world. It's why I believe in magic."
“How did you lose it?”
“It belonged to my great-grandfather. He was the one who found it and it was passed through my family for generations.”
“Um… how did he find it?”
“He was an archaeologist and found it on a dig.”
Pom looks at the pendant. “Maybe this one just happens to look like the one your great-grandfather had.”
“Perhaps… but the one he owned couldn’t be opened either.”
Pom immediately looks at him. “Really?”
“So, I’m curious how your friend… Cupid, was it? How she got ahold of it.”
Should Pom tell the truth? It's crazy enough that someone as rational and scientific like Luocha believes in something like magic. Perhaps telling him will get you and Pom a step closer to opening it. Before Pom can say anything, a gust of wind blows one of the books open. After the wind calms down, Pom is about to close the book when he sees the page the book flipped to.
Fire. Destruction. Black magic.
The words stood out to him as if they are bolded. While Pom wants to believe it's just a coincidence, his gut is telling him a different story. It's as if it's a warning.
"It was a gift," Pom finally says.
Pom almost starts sweating at the way Luocha is looking at him. It's as if he's examining him under a microscope. Then, Luocha goes back to examining the locket.
“Would you mind doing an experiment with me?”
“An… experiment?”
Luocha smiles. “As I said, the locket I’m looking for can’t be opened or destroyed. Should we test to see if it's really the same locket?”
Something tells Pom that Luocha already knows the answer.
“Don’t tell me you’re going to try to destroy it.”
“Of course not. But that doesn’t mean we can’t try to force it open.”
Again, Pom doesn’t know what it is, but he doesn’t have a good feeling about this. How is going to politely decline without sounding too suspicious? As he racks his brain for excuses, his phone buzzes, startling him. He quickly looks at the message on the screen and picks it up when he sees your name.
Cupid: Forgot to mention it earlier today… but we can’t trust Luocha.
Wow. Great timing.
“Is something wrong?”
Pom quickly looks up and sees Luocha staring at him. "No! Everything's fine."
Another message comes in.
Cupid: He might be working with Jing Yuan. I'll tell you more when I get back.
Pom's breath gets caught in his throat, knowing he doesn't have the time. Looks like it's time to bring out the big guns.
You and Dan Heng have just left the aquarium when you see Pom's message: SOS

A few days ago you reblogged an "incorrect Witcher quotes gifset" where Ciri interrogates Geralt about him being in love with Jaskier. JUST SAYING but I'd read that a million times over if you wrote it 👀
Based on this gif-set by @lamberts
Why, thank you Nonnie-love! Because I don't need sleep anyway (I do) I decided that flattery gets you everywhere, so I pulled together this.
Though, I do have Ciri Science and the Idiot Syndrome, if you are looking for some more idiots being called out.
Thank you for the ask, love, hope you enjoy! On Ao3 here
The morning is still freezing cold, the sun barely up to melt the lingering frost clinging to the cliffs and forest floor. Their steps are quiet, precise, their breathing measured.
Ciri doesn’t need the guidance anymore, but sometimes it’s nice to just run. The path around the keep has many traps, many tricks to watch out for. Geralt watches Ciri bounce over the icy rocks of a creak, then follows closely behind her.
Just in front of a log, she sidesteps, easily avoiding the fall trap there. She uses a branch to swing between two rock formations, balances along its side until she can simply slide down it safely.
Geralt follows, he meant to keep an eye on her, but he finds himself zoning out. The mind numbing task is something he could probably do in his sleep by now.
His mind drifts to lazy evenings by the fire, with easy banter and friendly ribbing. With songs, filthier than any brothel, or older than Vesemir himself.
After the mountain, Geralt wasn’t sure he would get that again. Talking it out was one of the worst things he has done, but a wound must be cleaned, or it will fester.
Ugly truths and shaky apologies were exchanged with the help of some dwarven spirit. Bitter stuff.
Geralt had woken up the next morning on the floor in Jaskier’s room, reclining over a tipped over footstool. His back was hurting, his ass was freezing, but his chest was lighter than it’s been for many years.
“Keep up, Geralt!” Ciri calls from up ahead, and the forest comes back into focus around them.
“As if you can keep up with me, cub.” Geralt smirks, lengthening his stride.
Of course Geralt out paces her. Ciri got sloppy and slipped in the frost, swearing as colorfully as Lambert when she found her feet again.
Together they walk through the gates and inside the keep to join the others for breakfast. Most of them are still on their respective morning duty, so the main hall is more or less empty except for them.
Among the many bookshelves along the walls, Geralt spots Jaskier’s cloak. The eggs are still steaming hot, but he peels one absently anyway, eyes lingering on the forgotten cloak.
“I have a question.” Ciri announces, working her knife on the hard cheese between them.
“Ask it.” Geralt replies, gathering the shells in a neat little pile.
“How long have you known Jaskier?”
Geralt considers this, to be completely honest, he haven’t given it much thought. Maybe he should have.
“How old are you again? Eight?” He asks teasingly, and she gasps in mock offense.
“Thirteen!”
“Right. I had known him for six years at your parents' betrothal.” Wow, time really passes by fast.
Ciri frowns at this, considering this information.
“But… No, that can’t be right.”
“What?” Geralt bites into the steaming egg, already eyeing another one.
“He doesn’t look older than twenty five, does he?” She says, finally managing to get herself a piece of cheese.
That… could technically be true. Geralt is spending too much time with people who doesn’t age the human way, he doesn’t really react to it anymore.
“Ask him about that.” Geralt advises, even if he himself is a bit curious now.
They chew in silence for a moment, sounds from the keep waking up filtering in through the thick wooden doors.
“I have another question.” Ciri says at last, tearing a bread bun into two. Geralt nods at her to go on.
“You are in love with Jaskier.”
Thank the crazy scientists of the past for gifting witchers close to perfect control of their bodies.
Geralt too reaches for a bread bun and tears into it, only to keep himself focused on anything else but what the little brat princess just said.
“That wasn’t a question.” He remarks, attempting to play it off. But no such luck.
“So you agree it’s a fact.” Ciri says, a victorious smile playing on her lips.
Geralt is just about to disagree with her, as the doors to the main hall swings open and the bard himself walks in.
“Oh, that's where I left my cloak!” He says to no one in particular, saunters over to it, and swiftly drapes it over his shoulders. “It is dreadfully cold this morning, don’t you think?”
Jaskier sits down next to Geralt and reaches for the jug of watered down ale.
“What? Is there something on my face?” Jaskier asks when neither Ciri nor Geralt picks up conversation.
“You look fine.” Geralt mutters, finishing his egg in one bite.
Ciri just keeps smiling her sneaky little smile, that only grows wider when Geralt rolls his eyes and thumbs away a smear of ink on his chin.
“I have another question….”

Someone on reddit asked, "What do you hate about The Hostage chapter?" and i was like, "oh, it's my time to shine."
My reply, copied from reddit:
Tbh, Captain Allen's flippant response to Connor. But not for the reasons other people have commented. Yes, he was needlessly antagonistic. Yes, he should have kept his calm, and not escalated the situation.
But i understand that he was under a lot of stress, two of his men had been shot, an officer from the local PD was dead, Emma was currently being dangled off a very tall building, and Allen was being made to wait an hour for a fresh-off-the-line android to show up so CL could test out their new toy, when at any time, the deviant could jump. There was no guarantee in his eyes that it'd even work, for all he knew, Connor could still have some bugs to patch, and if he failed, a little girl would die. I'd be unbelievable angry in that situation, too.
No, what i don't understand is why Captain Allen knows absolutely NOTHING about the deviant. Connor asks him two questions, and he can't answer the first, and refuses to answer the second. Now, he could just be angry because of all the aforementioned reasons, plus Connor seems to be asking nonsensical questions from his standpoint (Who cares what the deviant's name is? We don't have time for that), but his response to the first question (and it's the same for all 4 questions Connor can ask) gives me the impression he knows absolutely nothing. Which is ridiculous, because that means he's been essentially sitting with his thumbs up his ass for an hour while Emma was in constant danger.
SWAT teams very rarely go into a mission blind, they are briefed on the situation before being deployed, or updated on the go. They know the importance of learning every bit of information about the situation as possible. For them, it can mean the difference between life or death. Especially for a hostage; standard procedure is to learn every single tiny detail you can about the kidnapper's life and motives. This is a big part of hostage negotiation, Allen should be familiar with this considering his job title. This is what he should have been doing, before he got the call that Connor was coming.
In addition, i don't know if Allen ever became a detective before he entered SWAT, but i know that every SWAT personnel must spend at least 2 years as a beat cop, same as everyone else. SWAT usually spend many years as regular officer, some gaining a higher rank, before tranferring. And even a lowly officer knows to 1) assess the situation, 2) learn the how (figure out what happened), 3) learn the why (figure out why this happened).
So.......you question the witnesses.
Emma's mother was there, being escorted out of the premises as Connor arrived. She would be a key witness, as she was presumably in close contact with Daniel often, making sure Emma did her homework, drafting grocery lists, delegating tasks, etc. And buying a new android to replace your old one is not a secret you would keep in a marriage. They're pretty pricey, and that would generally be a joint financial decision. She had to have known her husband bought the AP700.
Allen could have been questioning her....but i have my doubts. He doesn't know Daniel's motive. He doesn't know if this is out of character for him. Hell, he doesn't even know Daniel's name. So what the hell was he doing for that entire hour before Connor showed up?
Why the hell doesn't he know anything about the android he's trying to rescue a 10 year old hostage from??
This has bugged me for years lmao. I was curious of your opinion on it
I don't think Allen and his team was there planning to negotiate at all, and I might be wrong but from what I gathered from a quick research, SWAT doesn't typically do negotiation on their own, they have optional Crisis Negotiation Team attached to them (?) which although works closely with SWAT isn't exactly a part of it. Moreover, from their POV it's a case of a broken machine, not an actual hostage-taker with human motives that are even worth looking into as such — android took a hostage not because it had a reason to but just because it was faulty, end of story. You don't negotiate with a crazy robot, because it's not a person with motives. Even Connor is there wording it as "errors in his software".
So, I think Allen doesn't know those things because he doesn't exactly find them relevant on the first place, his job is to come up with an armed strategy aka the position of snipers, the helicopter, etc, like all those people around the area are organised by Allen, that's what he's been doing. Their team just wants to shoot the android in the right enough way without any negotiation, that's what I think is happening.
As you said, they escorted Caroline in the beginning of the chapter, which means they probably assessed the situatsioon of what and how happened from her words. So it is possible she didn't know the motive herself, so even from her POV Daniel just got bonkers out of the blue. And once again, in their eyes it's not exactly a hostage-taking as it is a case of a broken machine, something not reasonable to talk to. They might have as well be called in a scene with an armed monkey, a wild animal pet that got aggressive. Who gives a shit if there was a reason, it's a wild animal, it's not exactly an acceptable course of action to talk to it and reason. That's why Allen is do annoyed, I think, he sees it as ridiculous to even try to talk to something that doesn't actually understand you. A waste of time.
And regarding what Caroline even knew about tue situation... Buying a new android could really well have been a decision made on a whim because Really, have you seen how rich those people are? Ten grand for them can be an impulsive purchase, even people who Don't have the money sometimes make crazy expensive purchases they can't afford just because they suddenly decide to make a bad financial decision, and then they buy a used sports car just because they saw it on sale and it was slightly lower price and higher quality than usual or something. Things like this happen.
I honestly wonder if Caroline herself even knew about this decision at all, and I think, it's entirely possible she did not. It might have been a surprise from John's side. It might have been even that John's plan wasn't actually to replace an android but just to buy another one, for whatever purposes, without talking to Caroline prior. And if you look at the timing, Daniel shoots him pretty much immediately after he hit the purchase button. Even if Caroline did know about the plan to buy a new model (if there was indeed a plan), do you think she'd have a chance to connect the two things in such a short notice, possibly not having an opportunity to know that John proceeded with the purchase at THAT evening?
So yeah, I don't think the things you listed are really a fault of a chapter tbh. I love it the way it is, I think it makes sense. The only thing I find regrettable about this chapter is that it's barely ever mentioned later on in the game.

[Kuroshitsuji Collab] 6★ William T. Spears (MOON) Translation SS 特別編 職場環境は整然と Secret Story: Work Environment, Orderly
“Regarding the Grim Reaper Dispatch Association which he works at…”
CV: 杉山 紀彰 (Sugiyama Noriaki)
*Yume100 Masterlist *Requested by A. Carina Spears~ *Spoiler free: Translations will remain under cut *Name will remain as my normal ( ラン )
Moon Chapter 1 / Chapter 2 / Final Chapter / Secret Story Normal / Sun + SS
It has been a while since William had wandered into the world of dreams…
And despite our tireless efforts, we had yet to find any solid leads…
William: Perhaps we should reconsider our information-gathering methods.
William pushed up his glasses, his face set in his usual look of utter seriousness.
Ran: Maybe we should…
William: Seriously, this is negatively affecting my work. If this carries on… I'll have to submit a written letter of apology. And I won't stand for it happening on my watch.
(A written apology…?)
Although I've been curious about the association he works for for a while now, I've never actually gotten a chance to hear more about it.
Ran: What's your workplace like? You know, the Grim Reaper Dispatch Association?   The stern look immediately returned to his face.
William: What does that have to do with our investigation?
I was fairly taken aback by his frigid tone, but…
Ran: It might serve some purpose to know, so I won't completely write it off.
I pushed back boldly, trusting in our budding friendship of sorts now that we were certainly closer to each other compared to the first time we met.
William: …
I'd made a good point. With that, he solemnly averted his gaze, seemingly unable to refute against that.
William: The Grim Reaper Dispatch Association is an organization in charge of dispatching reapers worldwide.
William: The equivalent of that in the human world would be… I suppose you can think of us as civil servants.
(Civil servants…)
William: I work under the management division.
Ran: You're in management?
William: Yes. However, I am often called into the field due to the misconduct of a certain trash dispatch member.   He breathed an exasperated sigh tinged with slight annoyance.
William: We also have the personnel division, the general affairs division, and the retrieval division, among others. Additionally, we also provide training for recruits who join the association.
(Sounds like… how a normal company works actually.)
Ran: So that must mean that you've undergone this training too, right?
Despite how imposing he is now, he was still a rookie once…
(I wonder what he was like as a rookie…)
William then faced me with a sharp look in his eyes, as if putting a premature stop to the question resting at the tip of my tongue.
William: It's something that belongs in the closet and should stay in the closet.
Then, he proceeds to explain the other divisions.
(Did he also have a hard time as a rookie?) (Now I kinda feel some sort of affinity with him…)
William's greenish-yellow eyes narrowed into a glare as I unwittingly chuckled at the thought.
Ran: …! Come to think of it, your glasses are a little oddly shaped.   I could see him stiffen the moment I let my words slip.
He brushed his fingers over the rim of his glasses and gave me a pointed stare, his expression set into one of seriousness.
(William-san…?)
William: I’m not the only one who wears glasses.
William: All of us reapers are short-sighted.
He had a faraway look on his face, almost as if reminiscing about something from his past.
However, it also seemed as if he’d wanted nothing more than to pretend whatever he was reminiscing about never happened. And oddly enough, I too, found myself unable to turn away.
William: So… Do you think any of this information is going to be of use regarding our current predicament?
Ran: Ah…
His sharp gaze fell on me again, and I instinctively responded to him.
Ran: Learning about how things are in your world has motivated me to work harder on our investigation!
I shared my heartfelt thoughts with him.
William: …
He simply adjusted his glasses again, neither confirming nor denying what I’d said.
(I wonder how many lives those lenses of his have witnessed…)
However, that’s something I can’t possibly imagine.
William: Now then, let’s continue with our investigation.
Ran: …Okay!
All I wanted to do now was to do everything in my power to help him return to his world as soon as possible…
The END
