I had an exact conjunction (sun mercury venus mars all in early degrees cancer like 0-2orb) with a scorpio moon (mars and moon debilitated mutual reception) eventhough everything trined it took us forever to get started (Saturn conjunct jupiter in the first) we finally hooked up after 3 years we barely talk and every single conversation was either arguing or sexual. Mars really did its thing there.

I think the mars being debilitated overpowered the sun mercury and venus who are all okay with being in cancer but the mars caused these angry and sexual feelings to linger for a long time also the scorpio moon added to the inability to let it go. But it could also be because that scorpio moon is super important

Venus conjunct sun in composite is better than in synastry. Venus and sun in synastry can cause idealization but in composite it’s a little more mutual. (Can be superficial though)

Anything in the 7th house for a composite chart shows how you guys deal with third parties. From my experience

Okay, so I wrote this on reddit to a depression doomer, but I want someone who might have an iota of openness to considering it to read it, so I'm posting it here. I assume there will be doomers here too, because depression is depressing. All of these things are things that I've tried, and all of them are things that have made my life better than it was before. All of them I have started in an incredibly janky way and they've still helped. If anyone is interested (or I receive the same combination of depression-based hostility and intense focus), I'll make separate posts on how to actually do the thing.

Things that might make a person's depression improve that don't involved going to a therapist:

Aerobic exercise 4x/week

Membership in a community/close relationships/human touch/human interaction. I'm bundling these together, because in a practical sense, you're making about the same decisions yourself, and the interactions with other people will follow. I recommend finding a "Third Place," such as a sports league or dance community (see exercise), game/knitting/metaphysical store, bar, cafe, meetup group, adult learning class, regular volunteering gig, music venue, RPG group, book club, brunch group...you get the idea. The best ones are open to the public if you're socially isolated or looking to date, because you'll meet a greater variety of people, but anywhere where the same amorphous or literal group of people shows up at a place and time will help you build relationships.

Omega 3 Fatty acids, Vitamin D, Vitamin B-complex, Magnesium: I'm not a doctor and this is not medical advice. They might give you energy and run your body more smoothly.

St. John's Wort: I'm giving this its own thing because the above are supplements that the body gets in its diet, this is a drug™, but you can purchase it over the counter. It inhibits the reuptake of serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine, for which there is some evidence that it helps depression on a chemical level. It has mad drug interactions and PLEASE do your research before taking it.

A lot of things in the cognitive behavioral therapy realm. Gratitude practices, affirmations, I'm sure there are CBT workbooks for depression that one could find. The idea is to reframe your thoughts to make sure they are a) true and b) priming you to feel emotions and take actions that will make your life suck less.

Going outside. Living in a suboptimal space is depressing, and so many of us do it. We do better when we see and hear trees. We do better when we see and feel the sun. We process things when our brains run electricity back and forth between the two sides, as happens when walking (drumming is also good for this, or bilateral stimulation from something else).

Accomplish things. I know. This, even more than the many difficult things I've listed, probably feels impossible, but I'm writing it anyway, because it really does help. If you have small tasks you've been putting off, try and get one done. Break up big tasks into accomplishable steps. Not like "Clean the house" to "Clean the bathroom," like "Clean the house" to "throw all the trash on the couch in the trash can" or "get out all the products to clean the bathroom" (the second kind doesn't vibe with me but some people like it)

You'll notice none of this is going to fix the world, except for the shitty little corner the person doing it is sitting in. That's the point. There is so much wrong with the world, and it asks a lot of us to fix it: our labor, yes, and also our joy. And also, our ability to get out of bed in the morning, our ability to send emails, our ability to check in on each other, our ability to keep ourselves out of entanglements with the state and other institutions. I'm not saying this because it's fair, I'm saying it because it's the way out I see in front of us.

Sona - First Five 2001 House / Progressive House

Well I'm back on my grind in these early 2000s Montréal club music mines and I managed to uncover this nifty, little anonymous mix that celebrates the five-year anniversary of a popular venue called Sona.

Here's some glowing liner notes about both the club and this particular mix's purpose:

Sona opened in February of 1996 as the first legal bar / after-hours club in Montreal. Its purpose has always been to offer the very best in music emerging from an ever-evolving club scene. Sona has managed to cruise through the fad phase, relentlessly striving to live up to its hard-earned legendary landmark status. It would be impossible to try and pinpoint a specific perfect Sona moment, for everyone seems to have his or her own favourite. We wouldn't dare claim that any compilation CD could ever achieve such a task. We just thought these few anthem tracks would bring back sweet memories to anyone who has been a part of this amazing ongoing party. If you were among us anytime during this crazy ride, you know it's true : the sun always shines at Sona. Here's to five more sunny years !

So, this CD's got some real house bangers from the late 90s and early 2000s, folks. It takes some time to get going, but it really starts finding its groove after the first third. French-sounding funky stuff from a duo called the Skeudymen that consisted of the prolific Frédéric De Backer; back-to-back cuts from Edinburgh's George Thomson, performing as both The Plastic Avengers and The Shutter Bug, with something sci-fi and futuristic and then something self-descriptively perfect called "Real Deal Party Feel;" and then a lovely trio at the end, with Chicago's DJ Sneak doing probably my favorite type of house music there is—that stringy and filtered disco-type shit—France's Didier Sinclair laying a passionate vocal sample over stabbing flute synths and a Euro-beachy bassline, and François Kevorkian going buckwild jazzy on his synthesizer to end the whole shebang.

Surprised there's no mention of who actually made this mix anywhere in this release's liner notes, but whoever it was ended up doing a pretty bang-up job of it; the transitions are solid and the selection's dope. Seems like they definitely did right by Sona here.

Venus Rx and Fated Relationships

Is it possible you could meet your future spouse during a retrograde? 

A retrograde is when a planet reverses its motion—it moves backwards. Depending on the planet, retrogrades can last anywhere from 30 days to ~6 months. Venus goes retrograde approx every 18 months. Venus is the closest planet to Earth. In a world filled with hopeless romantics and love being the goal of life, when Venus goes retrograde, the effects are felt heavily.

Venus retrograde is a time when we are called to reassess ourselves in terms of “Venusian” things. These “things” revolve around love (internal or external), relationships, values, finances, pleasures, etc.

Because Venus is widely known as the planet of “love” it is no surprise that many people get into relationships when the planet goes retrograde. We’ve heard of exes coming back during Mercury retrograde to get closure (revising communication), but what about going back to people from past lives? Because retrogrades revisit the path a planet was once on, we do the same here on Earth. During this time, many people find themselves in relationships—specifically, “fated” relationships.

At the most basic level, our goal on this Earth is to procreate, carry on our lineage, and achieve happiness in some shape or form. The primary way of life goes: fall in love, have kids, and strengthen our family line. You hear songs about love on the radio, you see it in movies, shows, books, poetry; Love has been an emotion untouched since the beginning of time, so much that the idea of a “soulmate” is popular in pop culture and worldwide. Venus, Uranus, and Jupiter were all trine each other at this time. Indicating an abundance of out of the blue fated connections and relationships.

There’s no denying that Zayn and Gigi are pretty much in “soulmate” territory. Despite breaks and breakups, they’ve amounted a total of 5 years together. Five years ago, when Zayn and Gigi first met, the planet Venus was in retrograde, which Zayn actually mentions in his song cruel:

Converse: a situation, object, or statement that is the reverse of another or corresponds to it but with certain terms transposed.

Zayn and Gigi met at Kylie Jenner’s birthday party, on August 9th, 2015. The song Cruel is about meeting somebody at a party and feeling a spark. Put two and two together.

When looking at Gigi’s chart, Jupiter was transiting her 5th house with a pretty tight conjunction to Venus (3 degrees separation) in the sign of Leo meaning that Venus and Jupiter were in an exact conjunction that Summer.

Leo is ruled by the Sun, the center of our universe, the Sun shines down on humanity and makes everything beautiful. Leo is home to the 5th house.

The 5th house is the house of relationships, sex, children, parties, creativity, and joys. Speaking of Joys—Venus’ joy is in the 5th house, meaning that this is an extremely favourable place for Venus to be (side note, Zayn had a planetary joy transit himself during this time. His moon was transiting his 3rd house and 3H Moon represents the Goddess.) She enjoys being in the 5th house, as she can utilize everything on the table in that room of the house.

Moreover, Jupiter, at the utmost basic level, has to deal with abundance. Jupiter being in the 5th house is favorable because the sign Jupiter rules (Pisces) is the sign Venus is exalted in. That said, Venus conjunct Jupiter in the sign of Leo equals an overflowing abundance of Venusian energy. It should also be noted that Jupiter rules a woman's husband in the birth chart. At this time, Gigi was in a VERY FAVORABLE position to meet her potential spouse. Moreover, when Jupiter crosses one’s 5th house, this indicates that a woman could meet her husband.

“Whenever Jupiter and the lord of 7th house transits the first or ninth house this is more indicative of things like Marriage commitment, deeper and strong relationships. And if Venus or Jupiter itself rule these houses then it is a double significant of relationships.“

Now, remember when I said the Moon was transiting Zayn’s third house? The Moon changes signs every 2-2.5 days, so this transit came and went, but it was extremely fitting for the moment. The Moon was in Gemini, the sign of communication.

The 5th house is the house of relationships, sex, children, parties, creativity, and joys.

Where did Zayn and Gigi meet? What happens at parties? 

Venus, Jupiter, and Mercury (Gemini’s planetary ruler) were in a nice conjunction during this time. The Moon was also making a few aspects to Zayn’s natal Moon that day.

Moon in aspect with his Venus in the 1st house (opposite of the seventh house, house of long term relationships) within 1 degree of each other. Venus signifies ones girlfriend or wife in the natal chart.

Moon in aspect with his Jupiter in the 7th house (opposite of first house, house of self and the physical body)

“The ascendant represents the body in the individual of the person who wants the relationship.”

Another thing to note is the planet Uranus. Uranus is an outer planet known for causing upheaval and out-of-the-blue events. During this time, Uranus was transiting Zayn’s 1st house of self. Another thing to consider is his natal 7H Jupiter sextiling Uranus transiting his 1H, which means positive, but abrupt change in relationships. 

“This is a good time to tackle difficult tasks that have caused frustration or limitations in the past.” Venus Rx tends to bring people into your life who you’ve had a “past life” connection with.

Because of Uranus’ influence, Zayn’s life was a bit all over the place, so he found himself in a more adventurous state. Because his 11H (the 11H is responsible for social circles) Sun and transiting 1H Uranus were in a square aspect within 2 degrees, That said, Zayn was meeting new people and doing new things with said new people.

We got such a spiritual connection...

Zayn and Gigi are a great example of proving Venus Rx to be a time for cuffing szn. Despite having breaks and breakups, they’ve always found their way back to each other.

I’ve spoken to many other people to have met their partners during Venus retrograde, and almost all of them say it’s like a spark. They feel an automatic deep sense of familiarity with their partner, saying it’s like a spiritual connection.

Zayn is always singing about Gigi and him having this spiritual, fated, and past life connection:

While some find their exes coming back around for a second try, or end up in murky karmic relationships, for the most part: Venus Rx seems to be a good place to start if you’re looking. 

Venus retrograde does not always mean things will work out because retrogrades are here to reassess things we did not master in the past. But love is all about taking chances. So take your chance, and have fun. Soul mates do exist, and you may end up finding the one.

First: I literally do not give a fuck about retrogrades. Don’t use them, don’t pay attention to them, never have, never will. (1) Looking at your chart and seeing that you have a birth planet(s) in retrograde isn’t going to give you any new information. I cannot say it enough, people: every chart has an overarching theme, all the planets are working together to tell you the same shit, over and over again. When we’re trying to understand a chart, we want functional information and we want ease.

Which set of information feels more functional and accessible to you?

This: Aries Sun in an intercepted first house quntile to a Gemini Moon in the third house conjunct the IC, both opposite retrograde Pluto in the 8th house and retrograde Jupiter conjunct the ninth house cusp semi-square a conjunct Uranus and Neptune in the eleventh.

Or this: Man, this bitch has a fucking Aries Sun in the first house and her Gemini Moon is down there in the same quadrant - from that alone we already know she’s all about discovering herself and learning how to apply her damn brain in a flexible, influential way. Of course with an overarching theme like this she’s going to have to learn to be empathetic and sensitive to others so she doesn’t become a ruthless-ass, self-serving cunt with literally no awareness of other people’s realities and experiences (Jupiter and Pluto up top).

The placement of the Sun and Moon alone tell us 90% of the shit we need to know about a person. Everything else is supporting information, and none of that supporting information is going to contradict the overarching theme.

Did knowing that Jupiter and Pluto are in retrograde tell you anything you didn’t already know? No. Seeing both an Aries Sun and a Gemini Moon in the first quadrant already tells you this bitch is clearly all about developing and exploring herself - of course someone with such self-focused priorities is gonna need to spend some extra time building an awareness of other people’s realities, and of course that understanding is going to come from inward withdrawal and reflection - with the way this chick operates, it couldn’t come from anywhere else. So, seeing that Jupiter and Pluto are in retrograde should just confirm what you already knew from looking at the more important elements of the chart.

Being a quality Astrologer requires just as much formulaic thinking and logic as it does intuition and sensitivity, bitches. Don’t let anyone tell you you’re not intuitive enough to read a chart, bust out your math and destroy them.

(2) That being said: Retrogrades typically represent inward withdrawal and reflection. What even is a retrograde? It’s a going back over of degrees we already covered. It’s an opportunity for revision, reflection and deeper understanding.

Is a retrograding placement good or bad? Neither. A retrograde planet means nothing on its own - every individual element needs to be considered in the context of the rest of the chart. That is why retrogrades are a detail you could completely overlook and still miss nothing from your overall understanding of a chart. Guaranteed you’re going to catch the same information somewhere else in the chart: there will be other, stronger indicators of (1) the need to put extra time and attention towards a particular area of your life, or (2) a person who has more reflective, introspective nature in general.

(3) The same logic holds for transits: again: every individual element needs to be considered in the context of the rest of the chart. Mercury, Venus, these mfs aren’t just floating up there by themselves randomly going in and out of retrograde - they’re part of the entire landscape of the Solar System!! They have family and friends!! You’re better off looking at the current chart as a whole - seeing where all those sweet celestials are hangin’ in relation to each other - than randomly jumping to conclusions based on a single piece of (honestly, extraneous) information.

All in the Cards: A Brief Introduction to the Tarot

Good evening, loves!

It’s been a while since I’ve written a blog post on paganism, and with Beltane fast-approaching and my spiritual senses heightened, I would like to break that hiatus. I’ve already written briefly about setting up an altar space and using crystals for everyday purposes; now, I’d like to address the spirits’ most effective method of communication with humanity: the Tarot.

I started using Tarot cards about a year ago, when my finances and living situation finally allowed me to create a safe space for readings. Ever since, I have learned much about myself, my environment, and my own unique spiritual journey. The first thing I recall from beginning the process was quite the opposite of what I’ve since achieved: utter confusion. I had no clue where or how to start!

The start of my path was rocky, and although I eventually pulled through, I wish I would have had some sort of beginner’s guide to show me what to expect before beginning my journey. This post is dedicated to anyone who may now be in that same boat.

BEFORE YOU BEGIN

Please note that this is only an introduction; your journey is your own, and as such, the energy you transfer into your own deck will bear unique results and interpretations. This guide, I hope, will simply give you an idea of what to expect during your first few months as a reader.

The Minor Arcana

Tarot decks are not your everyday playing cards, but there are similarities. Because they are already commonly known, these are a good place to begin your study of the deck. 

Every Tarot deck comprises 78 cards: the traditional 52 cards (also known as the Minor Arcana), ace through ten, Knight or Jack, Queen, and King; their Pages; and the 22 of the Major Arcana. We’ll begin by reviewing the traditional(ish) four sets of 13 and their Pages.

Wands

The Wands family, or the Deck of Wands, is represented by the element of air. As such, these cards tend to be indicative of figures and events that may require additional energy, creativity, or entrepreneurial effort. Wands cards present the most lighthearted of omens.

Astrology: Planets to consider: Uranus, Mercury, Venus; Constellations to consider: Aquarius, Gemini, Libra.

Cups

The Cups family is represented by the element of water, and deals with deep emotions and emotional connections. A reading from the Deck of Cups may symbolize a new relationship or friendship, a deepened connection, or, on the less appealing side, heartbreak or loss. 

Astrology: Planets to consider: the Moon, Pluto, Neptune; Constellations to consider: Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces.

Pentacles

The Pentacles Family is represented by the element of earth, and deals with material gains and carnal affairs. A card of Pentacles might advise you to pick up a new craft, or prepare for an increase of wealth, or foreshadow grave carnal worries.

Astrology: Planets to consider: Saturn, Venus, Mercury; Constellations to consider: Capricorn, Taurus, Virgo

Swords

Represented by the element of fire, the Deck of Swords is perhaps the most intense family of the Tarot. Readings may range anywhere from symbolizing or foreshadowing a sudden epiphany, to a stalemate, to a betrayal, and so on.

Astrology: Planets to consider: Mars, the Sun, Jupiter; Constellations to consider: Aries, Leo, Sagittarius.

The Major Arcana

The Major Arcana is interesting in that it originated as its own set of playing cards. Also known as the “trumps,” this deck is represented by the fifth element, most commonly referred to as Spirit. Each of the 22 cards symbolizes a figure or event with heavy spiritual significance. This deck is composed of:

Types of Readings

Once you’ve familiarized yourself with the cards, you can better begin to consider the different ways to read them.

A Card a Day

Drawing one card every day is comparable to reading a horoscope, but more personal to the reader because of the direct touch. This reading is ideal for giving you a quick glance at what may be in store for you today. Try to draw your card before leaving your house for the day, if applicable.

Past, Present, Future

Three-card readings are one of the most common. The first card you draw symbolizes an element of your past, the second represents a significant element of your present as effected by the first, and the third shows you where you are headed.

A Year in Review

Twelve-card readings are a lot of fun for New Years, birthdays, or any other major holiday or annual date of significance. Begin by drawing for the current month, then move from right to left, top to bottom for the following months, until you’ve drawn one card for each month of the year.

Tips for Shuffling

The first step of any reading is, of course, properly shuffling the deck. 

Begin by spreading the cards out before you, then gather them back together however they choose to fall.

Cut the deck three ways. If you’re drawing for yourself, you cut. If you’re reading for someone else, you shuffle, but have them cut. Then, you draw.

Helpful Hints for Beginners

Now that you’ve covered the bases, here are a few things I’ve picked up over the course of my journey.

Cleansing your deck

It’s always a good idea to cleanse your deck every so often to rid it of foreign energy: before the first time you use it, after doing a reading for another person, after the deck has been handled by someone else (or stepped on by a cat, as happens to me quite often), or just whenever you feel the time is right. Sage smoke is the most commonly used for cleansing, but there are many other alternatives as well.

Reading reversals

Because of their vague nature, reversals are often considered an unnecessary option, sometimes even feared as all-negative omens. That’s not the case. A reversal simply means the opposite of a card’s typical reading. For example, if you were to draw the four of Pentacles in reverse, it could mean you need to prepare for upcoming financial hardships.

Don’t become a self-fulfilling prophecy

This is a difficult thing to do sometimes, especially with the more intense card readings. Should you find yourself caught in a bad omen, it’s best not to try to avoid it. Instead, do what you can to prepare yourself emotionally, financially, or otherwise.

Note astrological / celestial figures

Tarot cards are a form of communication between us and the spirits of the earth, but that doesn’t mean the celestial influences don’t combine their energy with the cards as well. Pay attention what planetary bodies are in what signs. If you’re not in a good place to read the stars, download an app that tracks them instead. I use Time Passages.

Keep a journal

You may find your experiences more beneficial if you track each reading. Be sure to number your entries, and to include the date, time, and number of cards drawn. Begin by jotting down your initial thoughts. You may want to go back later the same day and add any other comments on your reading and how it may have translated into the day’s events.

Tarot cards in rituals

Personally, I don’t use Tarot cards in many spells, but I do occasionally use them to enhance crystal magic. For performing such rituals, your altar should include some sort of cloth or talisman; it could be a pentacle, or some other symbol. Place your Tarot card on one of the five points or sections of the talisman: North if it’s a Pentacle, South if it’s a Sword, West if it’s a Cup, East if it’s a Wand. If you draw one of the trumps, place it in the center of the talisman. Set your crystal(s) nearby and light a candle so that it shines on both the crystal(s) and the card, then speak your blessing or intention over the flame.

Myths about purchasing your first Tarot deck

There’s an old legend that warns of bad luck clinging to the deck purchased by a first-time reader, and that all first-decks ought to then be either gifted or stolen. This legend is only a myth passed down by ancient Gypsy tribes who were thought to be smuggling with money gained by dishonest means. So long as you cleanse your deck immediately after purchasing it and keep the cards stored somewhere safe, no misfortune will follow you.

Simply put, that would take way too long. There are guidebooks available for cheap that provide good summaries of what each card could mean; or, tarot.com is a free website also providing short descriptions of each card.

“What is it again!”

Your aunt sighs in exasperation as you run back up the stairs to your bedroom for the third time in the past 5 minutes, wondering why you’re still not satisfied with your appearance. Sticking your face close to the mirror, you dab a little bit more of the pink lipstick off your lips, finally backing away when you found yourself looking acceptable. With the pink lipstick looking less vibrant now, you breathed a sigh of relief, hoping that your little effort to tone down your makeup was actually working. You wanted to look good, but you didn’t want to overdo it either.

“Are you finally happy with your look now?”

You can see your aunt folding her arms across her chest in the mirror, her lips set in a thin line as you turn to smile sheepishly at her.

“Yes, I think I’m finally presentable now.”

“What nonsense, you’re more than presentable Rachel. You look absolutely stunning tonight.”

“Oh, please don’t say that! You’re only going to give me more jitters!”

“You know that I’m right. Besides, Brian will like you even if you’re wearing a trash bag; I’ve seen the way the boy looks at you. He’s absolutely in love with you.”

Your heart stops for a moment as you process your aunt’s words, your heart breaking a little when you doubt her words.

It’ll be great if he does… but he doesn’t.

Too lost in your own thoughts, you absentmindedly followed your aunt as she guided you by the elbow to the door, giving you a once over before leaving you with some advice that floats over your head.

“Come home safely, and don’t drink too much. If Brian drinks, don’t let him drive.”

“Uh…”

The door to your house is then flung open and you watch as Brian waves to your aunt in greeting.

“Bring her home safe! And don’t drive if you drink!”

“Got it!”

Brian flashes your aunt a thumbs up as he grins at her, but the smile fades after you hear the door shut behind you with a soft thud, the look on his face now one of wonderment. The two of you stand in silence for a few moments, taking time to admire one another.

His hair is done differently today – his slightly longer hair slicked back to reveal his handsome forehead. His crisp navy-blue suit adds an air of youthfulness around him, making him look suave. The sleeves are rolled up till the point just below his elbows, exposing the forearm and hands that were used to protect you.

You had matched him today – upon his request – with a navy-blue dress. It was one with your favourite halter neck, the bodice of the dress covered in sweet lace details. The skirt that ended just above your knees billowed around you slightly as a gentle breeze passed by, causing your hair, worn down today, to flutter around your face.

Both of you simply stand in your spots, wishing for time to stop so that you had all the time in the world to marvel at one another’s beauty. Yet the sun was setting in the horizon, signalling that the wedding will start soon, and that both of you should really get going.

Stepping off the steps of your front porch, and him off the pavement, both of you walked till you met one another right in the middle. You stood there unmoving for a short while, peeping up at Younghyun nervously from beneath your lashes. He remained the same as he was a few seconds ago, still carrying the same look of amazement on his face, his lips parted slightly in astonishment. Extremely self-conscious now under his focused gaze, you tugged your dress lower, hoping to cover more skin and you looked past his shoulders; at the horizon, at the clouds – refusing to look anywhere but him.

With a timid voice, you ask,

“W- W- Why are you looking at me like that? Does it look bad?”

“No! No, it doesn’t look bad at all!”

Startled by his huge response, you turn your head to look at the previously stoic boy, surprised to find him instead with eyes blown wide, a look of seriousness on his face as he waved his hands fervently, trying to convince you that you looked good. In fact – to him – you were more than good. You were absolutely breath-taking – maybe even perfect.

After a few moments of frantic gesturing, he then falls silent again as his hands still, mouth slightly agape as he continues to admire you. His eyes slowly scan over the details of your dress, right down to the silver straps of your high heels. You continue observing him as he slowly takes in the exquisite sight in front of him; his gaze on you not at all predatory, love shining out of his twinkling eyes instead.

The sight in front of you makes your heart throws all caution out of the window and for tonight, you just go where it feels right.

Brian is still beaming at you when his eyes finally find their way back to your face, the shy curve of your lips making him smile. In his mind, he has a grand speech all planned out; he wants to talk about how the navy of the dress brings out the colours of your eyes, or how your loosely worn hair is such a drastic yet nice change from your usual neat hairdo in school. He'll even talk about the perfectly timed moments; about how the soft orange glow from dusk shines upon the planes of your face perfectly, making your usually sharp eyes look gentler now. If he could, he would go on and on about how wonderful you look – yet – you render him speechless and this, is all he manages.

He whispers his next words softly, so softly that you would not have heard it, if not for the gentle breeze carrying them to your ears.

"Wow. You look beautiful Rachel. Really."

You could no longer contain your laughter, throwing your head back to let it out freely as your teeth show in a radiant smile. Brian captures this moment like a snapshot in his mind – the first time that you’re so carefree around him – and stores it safely in his memory forever. When you finally come back up to face him, he spots the stray strand of hair that has escape from your hairdo due to your actions just now. He instinctively reaches out to tuck it behind your ear as the other hand gently clasps around your fingers to pull you closer.

His adoring eyes never left yours as he does so, the rough pads of his fingers resting against your jaw as he continues to repeat the words to himself, his physical body unable to contain his feelings towards you anymore.

“You’re so beautiful… so, so beautiful…”

“I know that Younghyun, you’ve said that three times already.”

He snaps out of his trance when he hears your voice, his snarky self coming back to make a cheeky remark.

“Have I? I must have been so mesmerised by your beauty that I didn’t even realise it.”

You smack the back of his hand lightly for being too cheesy, scrunching up your nose as you did so. You were supposed to look angry, but Younghyun found your actions absolutely delightful, now beaming brighter than before.

“Kang Younghyun, what are you smiling at? We’re going to be late; we should leave now.”

“Your wish is my command, my dearest.”

Your eyes grow wide at his flirtatious nickname for you, and Younghyun lets out a hearty laughter at your scandalised expression; one that comes from a place deep within his chest, rumbling with happiness. Teasing you will always be worth it if it meant that he got to see your cute, flustered self.

He turns behind to open the passenger car seat, and you gladly enter, using the precious few seconds he took to round the car and assume his seat beside you to frantically fan your face, willing the blush creeping onto your face to go down instead. But a quick glance into the side mirror reveals a face flushed red; your body reacts to him on its own now, and you have absolutely no control over it anymore. From his spot beside you, Younghyun lets out a small chuckle but quickly starts the car when you turn to glare at him, clearing his throat loudly to ease the tension.

Halfway through the drive there, he lets a hand slip from the steering wheel to reach for yours. He almost does so successfully, until…

“Both hands on the steering wheel Kang Younghyun.”

“Yes ma’am.”

The wedding was going on in full force by the time both of you arrive – you could easily spot waiters and waitresses donning their chic black and white uniforms darting through the colourful sea of people, trying their best not to step on the expensive dresses and shoes as they balance flutes of wine on their tray. Your heart palpitates at the inevitable future; having unknown faces staring back at you as you get whisked around to repeat your introduction, perhaps even being forced to make small talk – which sounds like an absolute nightmare.

Brian senses your apprehension, and he’s immediately by your side, fingers gently slipping through yours before giving it a reassuring squeeze.

“What’s wrong?”

“I’m very bad with meeting new people.”

“Don’t worry, I promise to not leave your side. And anytime you want, we can just leave the venue for a while.”

“Thank you.”

“Anything for you sweetheart. Let’s go?”

You nod – and that’s how you found yourself walking into the wedding reception hand in hand with Kang Younghyun – breathing in a deep breath to steel yourself for the onslaught of questions ahead.

Younghyun keeps true to his words, and never once leaves your side. He’s always physically reminding you that he’s always there – sometimes it’s a reassuring squeeze of your hand, or his fingers rubbing lazy circles onto your clothed hip, and at other times, his thumb stroking straight lines along your waist. You’re grateful for his support; the slow, almost imperceptible touches helping to soothe your previously frayed nerves. With time, you get much more comfortable talking to his family, although the compliments still catch you off guard. You’re receiving it from everyone – the little ones hug your legs as they babble about how pretty you are through gummy smiles, the elders clasping onto both your hands, complimenting your look as a couple and your kind manners. Younghyun is also getting many claps on the shoulder from his relatives, many telling him that he’s lucky to have you as a girlfriend.

Yet, he thinks – I’m the lucky one here.

By the time you make one round around the entire lobby, your face is hurting from smiling too much, your hands sore from all the squeezing by his relatives. You’re all ready to take a seat on the plush velvet couch at the quiet corner of the room, but Younghyun has other plans.

“I know you’re tired Rachel, but just one last person; the most important one.”

You give him a smile of reassurance as you nod your head, and Younghyun breathes a sigh of relief as he leads the way through the crowd to finally reach the person sitting right at the back of the room. When she turns to look at you, the resemblance to Younghyun is striking, especially the eyes. She had got the same fox-like eyes, sharp at first but immediately melting into gentle crescents when she smiles at you to beckon you forwards.

You turn to Younghyun – asking the silent question – who is she?

He merely smiles at you, before turning his attention back to the lady in front of him.

“Grandma, this is Rachel, the one you’ve been asking about for so long.”

You immediately bow your head when you hear her salutation, realising that you’re now talking to one of the heads of the household. Brian pushes you forward slightly as she reaches her hand out towards you, and you naturally extend your hand to meet hers. Her palms are warm, and you feel the coarseness of her skin when she rubs her palm across the back of your hand, a lasting reminder of decades of hard work before you were even born.

“Rachel my dear! It is so good to finally see you! How have you been? Has our Younghyun been good to you?”

“I’m doing great and Younghyun has been excellent so far… Grandma.”

Addressing her as grandma sounded very foreign on your tongue, yet Younghyun’s grandmother seems to be loving it. The creases on her face deepen as her smile grows upon hearing you address her so affectionately, and her smile is mirrored by Younghyun’s – not that you can see it, with him standing behind you as he keeps one hand on your waist.

“Come Rachel, sit beside me and tell me more about yourself. If Younghyun has been mistreating you, you can tattle on him now, and I’ll make sure to give him a good beating.”

“Grandma!”

You hear Younghyun’s cry of indignation coming from behind, but you can hear the teasing lilt beneath his words, knowing that he isn’t actually angry. Grandma clicks her tongue at Younghyun as she chases him away to talk to his other relatives, before pulling you to sit beside her. Both of you soon lapse into a comfortable conversation, her hands covering yours the entire way. The occasional pat or squeeze of your hand as she listened to you talk was very comforting, albeit something unfamiliar at first. Growing up without parents, you’ve never had the opportunity to have someone hold your hand as you talked, your aunt often busy working to provide for you when you couldn’t. Grandma’s physical touches were a constant reminder that she was listening, and that was especially touching for someone like yourself that grew up lonely. It was very easy talking to her, and that’s what you do; the concept of time getting further lost on you as both of your transit from one topic to the next with ease.

Younghyun watches the entire scene from afar, his heart swelling with adoration at the sight before him. You’ve gained the approval of his grandmother, and it was heartening to see two important people in his life hitting off so well right off the bat.

Like a scene in a movie, this frame is picture perfect – and he wants it to last forever.

The Bad, the annoying, and just plain wrong Sailor Moon Fanon

Given Sailor Moon was released back during the early 90s and the ...issues the American dubbing had, a whole lot of fanon has sprung up about the series. Some of it is good and some of it is incredibly bad -- though this most often shows up in crossovers. Years ago, I made up a list of some of the most common misconceptions which I stumbled over and figured it might worth posting here.

Crystal Tokyo

The Senshi going out of their way to make sure Crystal Tokyo will come about.

People in the 30th century are obeying Usagi because the alternatives are freezing to death or being exiled into the far reaches of space. The only people “exiled” where criminals, such as the mass murderer who eventually became Wiseman/Death Phantom.

Usagi using mind control to set herself up as Queen of the World. Both sides in the future state she was elected to her position in the future of Crystal Tokyo by the population of the world. Which yes, is unrealistic but it is shojou manga and it is worth considering what Usagi brings to the position: she’s a neigh immortal God-queen who freely gave people millennia long lifespans, access to ancient lunarian supertech, and the knowledge that when the local eldritch abomination appeared, she would be there to kick its butt. Her extremely positive reputation with various galactic powers was merely the cherry on top of all that.

Utopian and dystopia Crystal Tokyo. There is still crime in Crystal Tokyo and people are still capable of being petty and selfish creatures. It's a better world but it isn't perfect. Some of the few examples shown people outside the future versions of the cast in Crystal Tokyo are kids who bullied Chibi-Usa and snobby politicians.

Usagi/Neo-Queen Serenity

Power hungry Usagi. Her stated dream at the start of the series is being a bride and house-wife. She constantly goes on about people’s right to make their own decisions and at the end of the Dark Kingdom arc in the manga, turns down the chance to crown herself.

Usagi being an force of stasis. At the end of the series, Usagi flat-out states the need for there to be change and growth in the universe, no matter how painful that it might be at times. That at times fighting was necessary for a better future. Of how the end of a war would lead to hope for the future and how it was all part of a balance.

Usagi as some type of valley-girl or crybaby post-series. Please, give the girl some credit. She beat back several demonic invasions, saved the world several times and managed to redeem an enemy that had supposedly wiped out all life in the galaxy/universe depending on whether you're using the manga or anime. Not to mention several times going to what was certain death for her, but doing so anyway. Hell in the manga, Usagi is shown through the series growing into a highly charismatic leader and skilled fighter. And even in the anime, she is shown growing at least some.

Usagi as some insensitive clod who's incapable of being charismatic. One of Usagi's strongest traits in both the manga and anime is her incredibly sensitive to people's feeling and ability to sway people’s hearts. This is the same girl who would eventually be elected by the world's population to lead them into a new future and had such a force of presence that she managed to redeem an enemy that had supposedly wiped out all life in the galaxy/universe.

The spamming of the Ginzuishou in a anime inspired story. Manga's understandable since it had no consequences. But in the anime she only used it at full power against Death Phantom and Metallia and once in the R movie. The anime emphasized the Ginzuishou would kill her if she used it. She had three one-time saves saving her life every-time. She had plot armor for the sake of the first arc because they thought the series would end with that episode and she wished to go back to being a normal girl as she lay dying. In R she and Chibi-Usa's wish to protect each other canceled out the effects. The third time, Fiore gave up his life to save her. Each time the senshi warned her she would die from the crystal if she used it. Yet she accepted it anyway.

Senshi

Guns can hurt the senshi. Anime shows the Senshi being bulletproof while the manga!senshi are blatantly superhuman.

The girls lives entire lives being wrapped up in their role as Senshi or the idea of Crystal Tokyo. ALL of girls are shown to have actual lives and dreams completely outside of their duties of being a Senshi.

The senshi all showing up to fight some no-name canon fodder. The senshi have only been together once during a whole fight and that was with Nehellenia. During S, Pluto died before Saturn appeared. The inners and outers are constantly separated and the outers tend to have their own lives to live. 

Minako, Rei or Makoto giving up Usagi for some guy who happens to come by. In the manga, the inners all pledged to each other that no matter what happens Usagi would always come first and that boys would come later because she was so precious to them.

The Senshi betraying Usagi out of their own free will. The girls have repeatedly proven willingness to die for Usagi when the chips are down. Even more importantly in the Dark Kingdom arc, when they all believed that Sailor Venus was actually Princess Serenity, their loyalty was still first and foremost to Usagi.

Haruka being super masculine. In the manga she was androgynous and enjoys both male and female outfits. Following her gender being revealed, she generally wore feminine clothing and has been show to enjoy wearing short skirts. Also, she is is canonically stated to be bisexual.

The Senshi being unwilling to kill human opponents. In the manga, the Senshi usually ended up brutally murdering their enemies. In comparison, the anime has the majority of the enemies being either mind controlled or manipulated by an outside force, but even in the anime, they were willing to kill if necessary.

Mamoru being a pedophile. In the manga, there is only a three years difference, with Mamoru seventeen years old vs Usagi's fourteen years old. In Japan, fourteen years was very much legal as the age of consent was thirteen in the Tokyo region at the time the series was being written. With marriageable age thirteen for girls and sixteen for boys with parental consent.

Mamoru being willing to betray Usagi. They are engaged by the end of the series and happily married by the end of the manga. They are quite content with each other and even in the anime where Mamoru has often acted like an ass too her he's almost always had the reason that his generally being mind control during this time of the week.

Chibiusa's hair color came from nowhere. Ikuko, Usagi's mother and Chibiusa's grandmother in the manga has pink hair.

The Senshi simply being magic users who happen to be able to draw upon a planets mana. They are literal avatar of that planet's spirit made flesh. A Senshi is born when a Sailor Crystal nest inside a newly formed planet. And are the ones affected when something happens to their planet. As long as a Senshi exists in some form their planet, star, moon, asteroid etc has a chance to be reborn at a future date. The only senshi for whom this is not true is Usagi. Instead, her starseed is implied to have been a piece of the starseed represents the universe...

Pluto/Setsuna

Setsuna as some figure of of absolute order and/or stasis. Sailor Pluto is the 'Solider of Change AND Revolution.

Pluto using Space-Time Door as the "TV of Time.” She does not possess the ability to watch events through it. The Space-Time Door’s  purpose is time travel, nothing more.

Setsuna as a some ice princess. In canon, she is a lonely woman who loves her Princess, her closest friend is Chibi-Usa, and she considers the Outers to be her family. She has dreams (to be a fashion designer) and fears (Cockroaches). She is not some manipulative shrew but instead a person who has a job that leaves her distant and with trouble relating to other people.

Pluto manipulating events to create Crystal Tokyo or purposely killing thousands. Her job is to stop time travelers from abusing the time stream. She remained guarding the doors through the fall of the Silver Millennium, the canonical restart of evolution on Earth, and all the way into the 30th century. Pluto only left after she died trying to reach Chibi-Usa while she was Black Lady. The only reason that she was able to have a life outside of her duty is due to Neo-Queen Serenity reincarnating her backwards in time so that there are two versions that currently her existing. Her older self-guarding the Space-Time Door and the younger one living with the Outers.

Chaos, its spawn and various servants

Beryl as a super-important person during the Silver Millennium.  She was a maid and small-time witch/sorceress who made a deal with the local eldritch abomination sealed way in the sun.

Wiseman being anywhere close to that of a good guy or even neutral entity. Death Phantom is a Cosmic Horror born from the root of all evil in SM-Verse.

The Black Moon family being freedom fighters against the tyranny of Crystal Tokyo. Their ancestors are flat-out stated to be religious nuts who thought that the infinite power of the Ginzuishou and its ability to give people eternal youth went against God's will. They  willingly fled to Nemesis after being told by Wiseman they could gain they could power and are implied to be responsible for transforming the planet into the living hell it became. The very first actions that people of Nemesis took when they returned to Earth was to kill countless innocent people without mercy by bombing planet and using poison gases on civilians simply because they believed long life went against god. Both sides also state the Black Moon's goals were only about their hostility toward people’s lifespan and later, to try to take over earth.

Chaos representing “just a little chaos" or serving as a “force of change/growth.”  Chaos in Sailor Moon canon hearkens back to Chaoskampf of older myths. It is a primordial force of nothingness and destruction, which predates the Big Bang and is still salty about the universe existing. Every terrible thing, every planet destroyed, every life lost in the SM-verse all lead back to it. Chaos was behind the corruption of Galaxia, and Metallia, Death Phantom, Tau Ceti were all incarnations of it.

The Dark Kingdom only targeted Tokyo. They mind controlled everyone in China during Sailor V and it was her efforts to stop them got Venus so famous famous as Sailor V.

Misc

Calling the 'Space-Time Door' the Gates of Time.

There is no Juuban ward. Azubu Juuban is a neighborhood in the Azabu district of the Minato ward. It even says they live in Minato is volume one of the manga.  

Anime "purification" is mind control. It is repeatedly shown as the process of outside forces leaving the victim’s body. Whatever that purification is it ISN'T about enslaving people to one monochrome will, something that the Senshi's enemies often did and what they fought against tooth and nail against. It is the realization you can be yourself AND stand strong with others. And if you don't like it you are free to leave or return but not find strength and purpose in hurting others.

Happy Valentine’s Day

Paris, the city of love, welcomed the sun on a Saturday in September. To all, it was a day that was normal, but to two superheroes it was the day they first met. The day was like any other Saturday, but due to Chat Noir not being able to contain his excitement, Parisians had been told that the superheroes would be getting married this month. All Parisians kept an eye out for the wedded two, but each day yielded no hint of the superheroes. Would today be different?

Nino rubbed the sleep from his eyes as his ears were assaulted with fast breathing. He heard his kwami humming softly while Plagg moaned.

“Adrien, calm down kid. You’re ruining my breakfast.”

Wayzz snapped, “Have you no shame? Your wielder is having a panic attack!”

Rolling his eyes, Plagg spoke through a big bite of Camembert, “This is his third one.”

“Adrien? Buddy, are you okay?” Nino prodded, moving closer.

“What if she decides that I’m ugly and she doesn’t want to marry me?” Adrien shouted hysterically.

The other three’s eyebrows rose while Plagg asked, “Are we talking about Marinette? The one who proposed to you?”

Adrien’s eyes widened, “See! She even has a reason! I put her in a horrible position!”

Plagg murmured quietly, “I highly doubt that girl can be forced into anything.”

“I think you need to take a deep breath, Adrien. I highly doubt that anyone thinks you’re ugly.” Nino bit his lip. He shouldn’t laugh at his friend’s turmoil, but the guy was being ridiculous.

Wayzz flew closer to the blond’s face, so close that Adrien went cross-eyed. “Young man, I’ve known the two of you since the day you were chosen. Your lives have been melded and entwined since the moment your fate was decided.Do not worry so. Why don’t you go hop in the raining bath and we will get breakfast ready?”

Smiling softly, Adrien nodded and left for the bathroom. Wayzz turned his eyes on to the other two who began looking anywhere but at him. “You two! He is panicking and it doesn’t help him if others are selfish!”

“Wayzz, Adrien always gets into his head.  Sometimes you just have to support him while telling him he’s too in his head.” Nino replied heading to find his sweater to go downstairs.

Sniffing, Wayzz pointed to the sweater as his weirder shrugged sheepishly. As he did so, his wedding band sparkled. Ah, that’s what I have to ask Plagg.

“Hey Plagg, I was wondering if you’d like to hand me the rings now since you’re the ring bearer and all.” Nino chuckled at the thought of the little Kwami being the ring bearer with nobody knowing that it’s actually him except a few.

Freezing in midair and mid bite, Plagg spoke slowly, “I thought you were the ring bearer?”

Nino’s face drained of color.

Across town, the beautiful bride to be took her time in the bath as her best friend, who was very pregnant, got last minute details squared away.

“Marinette, the makeup artist will be here in three hours whereas your hairdo person will be here in two.” Alya scribbled a checkmark next to her tasks as well as made sure the alarms were set on Marinette's phone. Nobody will be late getting the bride made up if Alya could help it. “If they aren’t here, please call me so I can deal with it.”

A dry look greeted her as two Kwamis squealed in excitement at a bubble floating up. “You do know it’s just Juleka and Rose right? They did your wedding.”

“I know! But just in case!”

A soft voice contrasted the previous tone out of the blue, “This isn’t going to be spoiled, right? I deserve one day… right?”

Alya smiles softly, “Of course you do. You deserve the world.” Her smile turned vicious. “And if anyone wants to spoil this day, they will have me to deal with!”

“Oh my gosh, Alya is going to kill us. We’ve ruined the wedding!”

“Nino! We can do this! We’ll find the rings, do the vows and eat cake! It’s a foolproof plan.” Plagg responded as he inhaled another slice.

“You don’t understand! Alya is scary enough, but pregnant Alya is a ferocious hamster!”

Wayzz turned his eyes on Nino with disbelief, “Did you just call your mate, a hamster?”

Plagg nodded, “They are ferocious, scary beasts.” Nino began pacing the floor as the Kwamis floated in air before him.

“Okay, okay. I have an idea. Plagg and I will follow his footsteps while Wayzz, you keep Adrien busy. Support him as he gets ready, stuff like that! Deal?”

“As you wish, but I do think it would be better if we just told Adrien.” In response, Plagg and Nino gave him faces contorted in horror. “Or you could just do your plan.” Without another word, he flew into the bathroom to soak up the serene atmosphere, shaking his head the whole way.

Plagg floated up and hid beneath Nino’s cap. “We should start at the venue since that was the last place we were last night.”

Nino nodded, “Good idea. On our way, we’ll have the chef send breakfast up to Adrien.” The two bolted out of the room, shedding their calm demeanors. Adrien’s house wasn’t too far from the event center that served as the venue. Nonetheless, the drive there for Nino took far too long.

In his rush, he didn’t see his wife headed upstairs to check the bridal suite one last time. If he had, he would’ve known to avoid her, but unfortunately it was fate to screw Nino over.

“Alright, Plagg? Where’re the rings at?” Nino whispered. He smiled innocently at a caterer as he passed.

“I think I saw the boxes in the Groom suite.” Plagg quickly flew past, phasing through walls in his hurry to the suite.

Nino sighed, “Hopefully they’re there, but if Adrien wonders where we are, it won’t be too much of a lie. I needed to check the suite anyway.”

The two entered the room and spied the boxes sitting on the table holding snacks. Plagg chuckled, “And you were worried! Some of Tikki’s luck must be rubbing off on me!” Nino ignored him and opened the boxes, and Plagg groaned. “You’re kidding me! Who took the wedding rings?”

A shrill voice interrupted before Nino could respond, and the breath left their lungs fast. “You lost the wedding rings?”

Gulping, Nino named where the scream came from, “Alya.”

Marinette waved goodbye to Juleka and Rose who had just finished her hair and makeup. The two arrived at the same time and with a dance that was coordinated, had her ready in no time.. The three arrived at the venue together and Marinette shared the sandwiches that had a lovely note For the Bridal Party before they left to get ready for the event themselves. She smiled softly at the thought of what was finally happening. A piano broke her thoughts as she realized it was her love’s ringtone.

“Adrien? Is everything okay?” She answered, slightly worried the cosmos were against them.

He laughed in response, “It’s fine, Marinette.  I was just calling to see if you were upstairs?”

An eyebrow raised. “Why do you want to know? It’s bad luck to see each other and with the God of Bad Luck around….”  

Silence answered her until her poor kitty softly said, “I just want to be a little close to you…”

“Pick a utility closet and I’ll be there.” Marinette spoke as she tied a robe around herself. If Adrien needed her, she’d be there.

“The one next to my room?”

“I’m on my way.” She wasted no time slipping her flats on and headed downstairs. She found the utility room easily enough and opened the door slightly. “Adrien? If you’re in here, grab my hand.” The warm, slightly calloused hand greeted her and she sighed in peace.

“Marinette? How are you able to make me feel so happy without a word?”

She squeezed his hand three times, I love you. “It’s easy when you’re soul mates. We were fated always.”

Adrien laughed softly, “That’s what Wayzz said… how are you wearing your hair?”

Smirking, Marinette cocked her hip, “Wouldn’t you like to know? I guess you’ll just have to wait!” Adrien wasted no time in squeezing her hand three times amidst his silent laughter. She smiled in relief, knowing that he just needed reassurance she was here to stay.

“I have to head back upstairs to get dressed and ready for some bridal shots. If you need anything, chaton, let me know?” She brought his hand close and kissed the top as she stepped away shutting the door. She leaned against it and felt her partner on the other side.

“I can’t wait to kiss you every day, morning and night. Especially this night… see you later, my Lady.” With that farewell, Marinette stepped away and headed to the stairwell. As she passed the kitchen, she heard a shout about cheese and pregnant hamsters. She didn’t have time to stay and question what in the world was going on though.  She trusted Alya would be able to deal with whatever was going on.

Alya was at her wit’s end. After scouring the groom’s suite, they still haven’t found the rings and it was three hours until the wedding. They had sent Plagg to discreetly check to see if the caterers had found them, if someone had left them in a room or if he could hear anyone else mentioning the rings. While he did that, Nino was sent to check the garbages. Two hours passed when Alya got the notification that Marinette was on her way over with Juleka and Rose when Nino came in covered in grime.

“You need to take a shower. There’s a shower in the bathroom next door to the bridal suite! Don’t let Marinette see you, do you understand? I’m going to go find Plagg.” Alya pinched her nose as she side-eyed Nino and vacated the room. She was too pregnant for this. “Now, if I was mischief incarnate, where would I be?” Her answer came from a thud in the kitchens. Alya froze because she remembered Marinette groaning that they had to have a cheese buffet for Plagg for when everybody left.

She knew as she looked upon piles of empty plates, she would become known as the extinguisher of the Kwami known as Plagg.

Trixx popped out from behind her as he whistled. “Plagg, you’ve really done it now.”

The only response from Plagg was a burp as Alya began to scream.

Nino heard Alya scream as he jumped off the last steps of the stairs, so he was already moving. To his delight, no danger was occurring except for the life of Plagg. Alya was trying to reach for the Kwami while Plagg held off growling Trixx.

“What’s going on?” Nino asked which was the wrong question.

“Your pregnant hamster is trying to kill me!” Plagg screamed, phasing through Nino’s hat. The man felt Plagg sigh in relief as he laid down, but another force had phased through and Trixx threw the both of them and the hat to the ground.

“How dare you call my wielder a hamster?” Trixx howled.

“Nino did it first!”

Alya’s stormy eyes turned slowly to Nino and he felt the daggers inTrixx’s eyes. Somehow, his savior came in the form of Tikki.

“What is going on down here?” Tikki frowned. Plagg flew to her and hid behind her, trembling.

“They’re trying to kill me, Sweets!”

“I told you not to call me that!” Tikki glared. She took in the sights of Alya and Trixx, hair raised, the empty platters and Nino paling with each second. “Alya, Marinette knew that Plagg might’ve done this, so there’s extra cheese in the deep fridge. Trixx and I will start sorting that out. Nino, you need to go help Adrien get ready. Luka is making sure the reception hall is perfect and the instruments are tuned. Alya, Marinette is finishing getting ready and the photos will start soon. Why don’t you head upstairs? Nino, please take Plagg with you.” Tikki began to head to the fridge when she realized nobody was following through with her orders. If she had eyebrows, they would be raised. “What am I missing?”

After Alya and Nino explained everything, Tikki was sure she would be having a headache. “We have two hours until we have to begin lining up, but Alya is needed now. Plagg, you and Wayzz will find the wedding rings unless you want to face Marinette.” Plagg gulped, but quickly left to find the wiser Kwami. “Everybody else, go do what you need to.” The two humans bolted and left the two Kwamis alone. Trixx and Tikki began the tedious task of placing the cheese on the platters again, hoping that nobody notices the change. As the caterers came in to check on the food, only one seemed a little off that the cheddar was in place of the Brie.

Tikki phased quickly up to the bridal suite to see how things were going there. Trixx had somehow beaten her there, but he just smiled as he hid in Alya’s mermaid tail hair. Tikki found her eyes growing moist as Marinette stood in front of the mirror adjusting the gown. Their eyes met and Marinette smiled in a language Tikki understood. She flew down and landed on Marinette’s cupped hands.

Tikki cried in complete happiness, “You look stunning, Marinette!” In response, Marinette brought Tikki up to give her a gentle kiss on the head.

“Today is thanks to you, Tikki. And of course, Master Fu.”

Shaking her head, Tikki wiped tears away. “No, Marinette. You two were fated long before the miraculous even came into your lives.” Marinette’s eyes filled with tears, but a strong, choked up voice interrupted the conversation.

“Both of you, stop it! You’ll ruin the makeup!” Alya blew into a tissue. “Now, I’m going to go ensure that everybody is lining up. You’re getting married in thirty-five minutes!” Alya left the room, patting her head to make sure Trixx was with her as she descended the stairs. As she got to the bottom, she saw Chloe and Luka standing together. A pin in Chloe’s teeth as she straightened the boutonnière, and she pinned it with expertise.

“Alya!” Luka greeted her as she finally made it to the end of the stairs. Chloe’s eyes showed worry as she watched Alya hobble.

Alya waved her worry away. “I’m fine, Chloe. Have you seen Nino?”

Chloe snorted as Luka bit his lip to keep from laughing, “He’s yelling at the Kwamis where the groomsmen are. They’re just waiting for Adrien to join them.”

Groaning, Alya shuffled over, throwing open the door and eyeing the human. “Did you find them?”

Plagg shrank back while Wayzz shook his head mournfully. Nino began to hit the wall with his forehead.

“Find what?” Chloe interrupted. Luka pulled Nino away from the wall and placed the distressed guy in a chair.

“Plagg lost the wedding rings.” Nino moaned.

“I didn’t lose the wedding rings!” Plagg spluttered. “You did!”

“One of you did and now I have to tell Marinette that we have to put her wedding on hold!” Alya turned to Chloe who had a thoughtful frown on her face. “What are you thinking, Chloe?”

“Well, did you ask Adrien?”

“Ask Adrien what?” The blond professor questioned as he entered the room, fixing his cuff links.

Nino looked wide-eyed and panicky, but Chloe asked before anyone could stop her. “Where are the wedding rings?”

Adrien froze and everybody held their breath in waiting for him to explode and panic. Instead, he raised an eyebrow in question, “In my pocket. Why?”

At that, the room exploded. Alya screaming, Trixx howling with laughter, Nino and Plagg blaming each other and Chloe and Luka as witnesses.

“Woah!” Adrien shouted. “What is the problem? I told you last night that between Plagg and Trixx, I didn’t trust anybody but me with them.”

Alya glared at everyone and grabbed Chloe. “I’m done with you all. I can’t believe this.”

Plagg murmured softly, “Angry hamster.” Just as Trixx tackled him in midair.

Alya and Chloe had twenty minutes left, so the two greeted guests walking in. By the time the last guests began to trickle in, Marinette and her father came out. The large man sniffled a couple of times and Chloe handed him her handkerchief with a small grin. He nodded in thanks and the music began to play. Before either girl could walk in, Marinette grabbed their hands and squeezed.

“Thank you both for standing with me today.”

Chloe and Alya both nodded smiling brightly although fighting tears and the three girls shared a hug before Chloe left to enter the hall. Then it was Alya’s turn, at the last second she blew a kiss to Marinette who giggled as Alya headed down the aisle.Then as the crescendo began, Marinette took a deep breath and headed towards her future. She recognized people from collège, university and work from both of their lives, but as soon as she made eye contact with Adrien, everything faded away. Her heart began to hammer in excitement to finally be married to him.

As her father gave her hand to Adrien’s in blessing, she squeezed three times and her father smiled largely at her as he backed away to sit with her mother. Adrien’s hand was warm, and his nervousness was all there. It made no difference to her. She grinned, repeated the vows and next thing she knew, Adrien was smiling as he kissed her. Their wedding was over and she could finally breathe. Nothing ruined her day.

The priest exclaimed, “I now present, Mr. and Mrs. Dupain-Cheng!”

As husband and wife left the room with cheers following them out, a group of Kwamis hid in a nearby planter. Plagg, Tikki, Wayzz, Pollen and Trixx all watched as the humans began to trickle out while a few stayed by the altar near the kwamiis.

Tikki sighed in content, “I can’t wait for the vow renewal.”

Pollen nodded excitedly, but the other Kwamis shared a stricken, panicked face.

Overhearing the Kwamis’ conversation, Nino told Alya quietly that they would be eloping for their vow renewal. Alya nodded as she slipped out of her shoes and wished she could drink the ills of the day away. She held her bag open for the kwamiis to dart in as they followed the newly wedded to the reception hall.

That night, Parisians were greeted to the sight of  Ladybug and Chat Noir darting across rooftops each holding a “Just Married” sign. The two shared a kiss for the first time as married superheroes on the eiffel tower, but definitely not the last.

Empty Houses

An empty house is defined as a house empty of planets or luminaries - asteroids and the nodes do not count! Everyone has them.

Empty houses are often explained as areas of life that aren’t important to the individual, but I think they can manifest differently too. Whilst some people may not care about the areas they cover, others may find them challenging or things they are self-conscious about. However I do want to preface this post by saying if it doesn’t apply to you, you might be one of the people who don’t place importance on the issues the house deals with. I’m also of the opinion that people can grow to feel that way over time. Lastly, it’s highly unlikely everything will apply to you - I wrote this looking at all of the charts I know, and so they are amalgamations of multiple people.

1st - Issues with the self. This can be a feeling of emptiness, or self-consciousness in terms of appearance, personality, or the self in general. In terms of personality, they can feel as though they lack one or are boring, and I’ve known some empty first house people to compensate for this by being loud and having a clear bravado - though some do go the other way and retreat into themselves privately. These people often have a lack of confidence, and don’t feel as if they know their place in the world. Sometimes they seem to change often, as if they don’t have set identities, and sometimes they can seem quite false. Many of the people I know seem to give off a fire, almost too much, though few do seem very plain. They often need validation and attention, though are secretive, and don’t like people knowing them too well. Some may also have trouble or take time in starting new things and following their hearts - they often do what is expected of them, rather than what they want to do.

Positive Aries, fire, cardinal, or Mars energy can balance this out.

2nd - Feelings of insecurity and instability. Finding it hard to value things, or feeling unvaluable themselves. I’ve known people to try and compensate by hoarding or placing too much value on people and things - this can be especially true with Cancer on the house cusp, a duplication, or an interception. I’ve also found that some with an empty second house can not understand the value of things, when others do not let possessions determine their lives and have a lack of interest in them. It’s often either one extreme or other. I know some empty second house people to not care about much and be rather impractical too. It’s a possible coincidence, but I have also noticed that some have difficulty asserting themselves, and others are too assertive.

3rd - Difficulties communicating. This can manifest in many different ways, such as having a tendency of bottling things up, stumbling over or losing your words and being unable to explain your thoughts. It can also show itself through a nervousness in social situations, or even overcompensating - for example, babbling, talking about yourself a lot, bragging, and lying. Though some dislike being and speaking about themselves at all. Many empty third house people also enjoy being alone, and have come across hardships in learning (I know a couple with learning difficulties). I’ve found that they often give the impression they aren’t particularly intelligent (no matter if they are or not). Often these natives can be very stubborn.

4th - As one would expect, an empty fourth house can indicate issues with family, and a lack of attachment towards their families. Some individuals with this placement may find themselves unable to care for certain family members. They may even feel as though they are never truly at home anywhere, and may have had detachment issues as children. They could also have either extreme or very mild views on their parents, rarely any in-between. Unexpectedly, these individuals do tend to be closer to their mothers than their fathers, but can also have a more complicated relationship with their fathers. One girl I know is actually one of seven and is extremely close to her family, and finds it hard to let them go. The fourth house is ruled by the moon, and many of these individuals do struggle in expressing and dealing with their emotions.

5th - These people can be bored easily, and may flit through hobbies and interests trying to satisfy that. Often, they only have a few major interests. They might find it difficult to have the motivation to get things started. I’ve known empty fifth house people who’ve struggled with asserting themselves too - they’ve either been too aggressive or not enough. It may also leave way for people to have ‘guilty pleasures’, that is, enjoy things but be embarrassed or private about them. There tends not to be much focus on children or sex, and these individuals may indulge in casual sex too. I’ve found they often gravitate towards being centre of attention, without realising it or even particularly wanting it sometimes. They are also incredibly stubborn, and have somewhat of a desire to be seen as leaders.

6th - Empty sixth house people can very possibly be prone to illness and accidents. They could rely on others too much, and probably wouldn’t do well in service-based careers, preferring more non-traditional ones.. The ones I know are sort of ‘wannabe perfectionists’ - i.e, perfectionists who often lack the motivation or capability to execute things the way they want to. I believe an empty sixth can manifest as a lack of care for their health, but very often there is a switch in them to change this. These people want to be seen as intelligent.

7th - The seventh house deals with relationships, and those with empty seventh houses may have a lack of interest or even a distaste in romantic love and relationships. It may even manifest as commitment issues. These people can have trouble compromising - however, positively, many don’t let relationships determine their lives, in my experience. Unfortunately, however, I do know those that do feel they need a partnership and have unhealthy and/or complex mindsets about them. A couple are even controlling of their partners.

8th - These individuals can lack a fear of death or danger, and because of this they can take many dangerous risks. Conversely, however, they may live lives with very few changes, and have trouble letting others in. Others feel as though they are almost constantly changing.

9th - This can manifest as an over-attachment to the home, or the place they grew up. They may even have a desire never to change. A lack of ninth house can also bring detachment or even issues with spirituality and beliefs in higher beings. These people can feel tied to their childhoods, for better or for worse, and harbour a dislike of change. This may be a coincidence, but I’ve also noticed these people have a tendency of gaining weight.

10th - Enigmas! These people may seem like total mysteries to others (or people may think they know them but actually don’t), and can have ups and downs in their reputations. They may also be lazy and find difficulty in staying organised.

11th - Difficulties with friendships. It may be that they have difficulty maintaining them, or may be that they find it hard dealing with many friends at one time. From those I know with empty eleventh houses, they have a few close friends, and are practical people, though sometimes they can have few ideas or solid plans for the future. They yearn for validation and for people to like them, and because of this, they may seem to make more of an effort than others to impress people. They also may have a fear of being themselves, not wanting to be judged or disliked.

The Astrology of Ted Cruz

ok so I’m just learning astrology, having some fun with it, and am trying to practice how to do full chart readings. I’m looking at the chart of someone who clearly sucks, this is absolutely not a condemnation of any sign, house, or placement. It is just a look at how someone can take their natural talents and gifts and try to use them in a horrible way. I am also trying to use this as a way to reflect on how some people can be drawn to people I find detestable. I believe we pick our stars and we continue to pick who we are and who we want to be. With that disclaimer out of the way let’s take a look at this chart!

 Teddy is a libra ascendant and therefore has libra in the first house. Here he has his moon and Uranus. I love libra ascendants, but not this one. With his Uranus conjunct the ascendant here he may come off to some as weird and I mean this in a bad way, but with his moon in the first house he may SEEM emotionally intelligent. With the moon in libra he can become passive aggressive and may have an easy time misrepresenting what he truly wants to get what he wants. This placement generally wants harmony, but without careful work and practice I find that they go about it in nefarious ways. His moon and Uranus both square his mercury which makes me wonder if he often learns things that challenge his emotions and beliefs, but has a hard time internalizing what he learns. With this all going on in the first house I see how people could have very different reads on him. Some of us could be picking up on the Uranus more so than the moon sign, we see his bizarre callous actions like flying to Mexico while Texas was in crisis. Others notice the way he seems calm and logical in debates more thanks to his seemingly balanced libra moon. 

His second house is in Scorpio, and here we have a stellium consisting of mars, Venus (his chart ruler), and Jupiter so this house and the sign of Scorpio play a prominent role in his life. He obviously cares about his money and wealth which makes sense with a stellium in this house, and because Scorpio is here, for him, I’d say he is alright using unscrupulous means to get what he wants, like taking lots of lobbyist money. Since his Mars and Venus are both here it makes me wonder how he treats his wife and other partners. I won’t speculate on that, but I will relay a strange anecdote about his relationship I read somewhere. After coming home from their honey moon Ted went to the store and bought 100 cases of Campbell's chunky for he and his wife to live off of basically. She found it and returned them immediately, not being the sort to want to live off that and after called her mother in law to talk about it. Her mother in law made her cry and eventually she went out and repurchased the soup. This is a strange possession to care a lot about given as a strange gift by a weird dude. I guess maybe it was a strange attempt at romance? It makes a lot of sense to me that his Jupiter is here, even though I normally think of it more intellectually it is often called the planet of “expansion.” What does Ted want to expand? his wealth and power. How does he want to do it? By hook or by crook, and unfortunately for many that means death, change, and disenfranchisement, but Ted keeps himself safe. 

His third house is split between Sag and Capricorn with his Neptune and Sun here. Assuming his birth time is accurate (which is a little doubtful, but we’ll read it as is), these planets are both at critical degrees. His Neptune is in the first degree of Sagittarius and conjunct Jupiter. This seems to make him fanatical in his faith, and perhaps because of the conjunction with Jupiter it makes him want to expand the faith, to proselytize. He might feel as though he is on a crusade, and because of the fact its in the third house which is about how we communicate our own beliefs and personality this comes across loud and clear. His Sun is also here, but in Capricorn at 0,′ with several challenging aspects. At its worst this can make one cold and materialistic. His sun is square his ascendant so who who is at his core is counter to how he comes off.  It squares his Pluto and deeper darker nature. It is also in opposition to his midheaven which is in cancer, which may be why he uses a position in which he should serve others to serve himself. 

In the 4th house/IC we have Capricorn and mercury. People with Cap on the IC tend to have cool home lives and his relationship with his parents seems to reflect this. Also,

but that could be a one off. His Mercury is here and it is in good aspect with his Jupiter meaning he is intelligent, how he learns, and how he puts that knowledge together works well. However, it is square his Uranus so I wonder if this means when he is presented with new or strange information he struggles to internalize it. 

His North Node is in Aquarius in the 5th house. This node would normally be about moving away from focus on the self to focus on the group, but as it is in the 5th house which is frequently associated with the opposite sign and south node, Leo, so he may struggle to learn this lesson. 

His descendant is in Aries, I have no idea if he is extra attracted to Aries energy or not. His chiron is also here, although not pictured in the wheel, maybe this is why he can’t seem to grow a spine. 

His Saturn is in Taurus in the 8th house and in opposition to his Venus, Mars, and Jupiter. I’d suggest this means he feels very personally constrained in his anger, sensuality, and mind. Particularly though when it comes to sensuality. He wants to restrain the taboo and unknown, but the more he tries to repress it the weirder it gets. 

His midheaven is in cancer which makes sense as he works in public service.

In his 12th house and in Virgo at the 29th degree. This seems to make him afraid of change and self-aware about that. It conjuncts the ascent even though its in the 12th house, meaning even though it is hidden from him, we on the outside can see it.
