Oh Cody is absolutely 1000% being delusional and excusing Rory’s…. everything™️ despite knowing and HELPING the crimes Rory commits on a 24/7 basis.

Cody just thinks that because Rory was merciful to them ( it’s literally just Rory being biased because they took care of Cody when they were a teen & also a pinch 🤏 of codependency on the era of their life they miss, with Cody being the only one in close proximity to them from that era so— ) that everyone should just suck it up when it comes Rory’s bad side.

But it is also a bit!! complex with what’s going with Rory.

Cause with Bailey, you know, everyone sort of knows Bailey isn’t great and everyone in that orphanage is in debt and when you bring up the orphanage almost EVERYONE has an idea about it because they hear rumors. Rory on the other hand, I made a bit more ‘insidious’ with how Rory actually acts more like a sweet, yet tired guardian in front of everyone. Very easy to love and laugh with, when it comes to the public and even some of the orphans because in Depths of Depravity not everyone is indebted to Rory.

So you have some orphans who seen how harsh and demanding Rory is about payments, and then others who have no idea what they are talking about. Like trying to bring up Rory’s bad behavior with others, if you don’t have a high love with them, some people will straight up not believe you and think you’re lying, damning your reputation a bit and your relationship with some of your peers. Even if you try to tell them the threats Rory whispers in your ears when you pass them in the hall.

Cause like, some people have gone missing under Rory’s care, but it’s never really gone into ‘Oh, Rory has something to do with this’ its more of ‘oh this kid got mixed up with the wrong people’. Because Rory cares SO MUCH ( doesn’t ). Still having missing posters put up in St. Agatha’s in hopes they come back :( ( we know the lies )

Which Rory’s reasoning for running the orphanage does still tie in with the previous guardian of the Orphanage like how we assume Bailey does. For Rory’s backstory, I just simply think the idea of St. Agatha being more terrible before Rory is hilarious, with orphans being openly abused and put through the wringer, ( it adds onto why people are less likely to believe the player if they try to accuse Rory because they are like ‘well no. have you seen the previous guardian? rory is doing the best they can’ ) Rory being a former orphan who was the guardian’s favorite, who they constantly brought to the other ‘friends’ to ‘go on outings with’. until y’know. rory & company got fed up and murked the previous director. and out of spite and anger, rory became the new guardian at a young age, and because they also wanted to get back at the other people who went along with their abuse because why would their violence end at just the guardian, started to delve deeper into the underground and raise up rank to the point that in their developed age ( i imagine late 30s ) that Rory now is one of the more powerful heads in town.

Okay but on the other hand how refreshing must it have been for dan and phil for once to have an interview without the interviewer questioning about their relationship or shipping or any of that. Like. Jack and tommy just had no idea bout any of it, and even if they did, they simply did not care. So dan and phil could be as cryptic or gay as they wanted without getting the third degree, because jack and tommy were more interested in their actual career and content. It was so fun to watch

yeah very true! they definitely didn't seem like they were withholding or uptight whatsoever, which was really nice to see! i like that point! 🩵

this is a pretty separate tangent, but on the topic of tommy and jack as interviewers, I feel like i experienced some dissonance in watching d&p be in conversation with these two successful content creators who seemingly haven't had to polish themselves at all and still seem so naive and young and just overall...mid? fine? idk, i've never seen anything either of them have done before, so i definitely don't know their hustle nor the quality of their typical content, but it read to me like they're two decent guys who just kind of...lucked out?

and obviously all big youtubers/digital stars were very much right place/right time, but seeing the difference in d&p's readiness, active engagement with tommy/jack/audience/one another, ability to keep the conversation moving and interesting, to balance lightheartedness with depth, to take all the fumbling and mid material and hiccuping wasted time of tommy and jack in stride and just be gracious and authentic and engaging throughout.... the distinction in talent level/experience/on-screen presence/communication styles felt huge. and had me thinking about how much dan and phil had to work at their careers and work at their public facing selves, yknow?

basically the vibes of the whole thing felt kinda bizarre to me! but definitely some excellent morsels came out of it and it was nice to see d&p comfortable, as you pointed out. i rly just love seeing them in any new settings. and tommy and jack seem like rly kind, genuine dudes.

personal finance question! ive always thought FIRE was about working as much as possible and then like. being a millionaire by 30 after years of asceticism. which i now realize was an unfair understanding.

setting aside that some of us are coming to this late and havent been hustling as hard as they can since their late teenage years—how do you balance enjoyment now with retirement (and freedom!) later? really want to get into this, but also want to live my life now, yknow? not that “living my life” has to require spending money, but sometimes it might?

Oh yeah I love demystefying this shit. What you're describing is sometimes called "Fat FIRE" -- its for big earners and hard working grindset sigma males who want to (and can) stack a ton of money and then live pretty comfortably at an earlier-than-average retirement age. This is also more on the "RE" retire early end of the spectrum. What most of us here are likely to be more interested in is the FI part of the spectrum -- financial independence. That means assembling one's life around a relatively low cost of living, with a large savings, so that you can no longer be exploited by an employer quite so easily, can afford to quit a job or work less for a period of time if necessary, or get to pursue work that is more meaningful to you but earns less. This is also sometimes called "Lean FIRE" -- and there is a subreddit specific to it that is worth checking out.

Even Mr Money Mustache (who is a bit more of a "Fat FIRE" guy, given his lifestyle and earning potential) always reminds people that the whole *purpose* of the FIRE movement is to not have to work yourself to death doing shit you hate to maintain an artificially inflated lifestyle. It should be about finding some freedom -- not soaking up every single paid gig you can possibly fucking get and saving as much as humanly possible at the expense of enjoying your life.

We pursue FIRE because we're disabled and cant work full time, because we're environmentalists and want a lower footprint, because we dont want to have to take on gigs that morally compromise us, because we want out of the conventional capitalistic life path, and so on. The goal isn't to make as much as fucking possible -- it's to be able to not weigh every decision you make in terms of income!

It's also not binary either -- you don't have to be a hard-core early retirement person with a like million dollar index fund goal, or whatever, you can just aspire to like, have a couple tens of thousands of dollars in savings so that you can take a few years off working if you ever need to or want to, and pursue that goal while also contributing to mutual aid and buying yourself a gaming console or a trip once in a while. Your priorities and the particularities of your situation are what matter here -- and you having a little more freedom to make decisions around that you're happier with.

ok so i love them as twins. and like identical twins. however not as like 'fred and george variants' or whatever & i also fuck with them being very very different people. like i view fabian as more of a serious guy, he's very into his work and education and everything. whilst gideon is more laidback and popular. but they're both still best friends with each other and love to hang out with each other- despite like fighting a lot. they're still siblings yknow. i also see them as molly's younger brothers, but they're still older than marauders. idk like roughly ted and andromeda's age. Idk why but I do hc him as like. Something that always sticks out to me in the book is that Ponyboy is religious and goes to church with Johnny (but then the gang RUINS that 😒😒) so perhaps some hcs for ponyboy going to church for the first time since that whole embarrassing moment anddd maybe curly is with him, hell maybe somehow curly the person to convince pony to go again? Idk I was thinking about this cause I'm in a church choir (just for their Christmas show, I've never even stepped foot in this church 😭😭) and it got me thinking. her voice changes quite a bit honestly. it’s part of her whole deal. the masks she’d have to wear, who she’d have to be in front of certain people. she’s good at pretending. she’s someone whose whole career is about being something idealized in front of a camera.

first i will link a post i made awhile ago about my protagonists and voices/languages cus i think it provides a good basic idea of how she speaks. but i do have a few pieces of written dialogue from different points in her life.

pre-war was marked by a lot of code-switching and putting on a certain persona, of finding that balance, that sweet spot between serious big name celebrity and fun-loving party girl.

so here i wanted it very clear that she’s putting on a very professional façade, almost too much. still quick on her feet and smiling, but still a stern undercurrent. a sense of feeling held back. bunny knows how to talk to get what she wants, how to talk to put on a certain air. like i said in my linked post, she just has a strong command of her voice as a tool. but also being around nate just burns her out.

early post-war is kinda similar in the sense that she’s. well. pretending. she doesn’t trust anyone completely yet, she doesn’t want them to get any sort of upper hand. she’s guarded, but she’s also a lot more…blunt? she’s not worried about hurting anyone’s sensibilities so to speak—she just wants answers. she’s caught on quickly to how the wasteland seems to operate. she takes stock of who she’s talking to and figures out how to play it then.

as time goes on and she starts to make close friends, especially as the main story comes to a close, her true self begins to shine through. she clearly cares deeply about them, she loves to make them laugh. gives them hugs and kisses. she’s not necessarily spilling her guts about everything to them but she’s sincerely willing to listen to their issues if they wanna talk.

here’s some post-canon stuff, specifically between her and maccready.

“You look pale.” he says flatly.

Bunny was used to Maccready’s bluntness—hell, she’d be worried if he didn’t give it to her straight. Still, being subjected to any type of caustic attitude made her stomach turn even more. He never pulled punches, and around him, neither did she.

“I’m fine.” she replies. She clears her throat, feigning nonchalance. Like she didn’t just vomit in front of him. Like she still doesn’t taste bile in her mouth.

Maccready blinks, studies her a moment.

And suddenly he smirks to himself, and Bunny feels exposed at the sound of his contented sigh, like he knows something she doesn’t—or like he’s figured her out.

…in that trademark tone, but she can tell he’s making a conscious effort to soften the blow. His concern is enough to make her nauseous all over again. That voice he uses that reminds her he’s a parent, too.

like i’ve said before, their dynamic is a lot more comparable to siblings, and though they like to give each other a hard time, there’s a very clear sense of concern and care between them. sometimes she finds it hard to hide things from him specifically because he confides in her so much.

anyway this is probably getting long enough and i’m worried i still haven’t answered the question well😭 i wish i could beam my thoughts directly into y’all’s heads or something. i hope her voice comes across clearly and i’m really sorry if it hasn’t!! bunny is someone who’s clever, quick, flirty, and loves to laugh. she’s got a super raunchy sense of humor but can pretend to be just about anyone if the occasion calls for it.

i love that thing where people will shriek and moan eternally about a fallout thing. except if its in new vegas, where they suddenly decide its actually Serious and Deep and Different because its new vegas and the devs must have meant something serious and deep by it.

but like yknow, especially so because when that game was in development i happened to know a decent chunk of the staff working on it in other places and they'd talk shit about what they were doing freely.

so I know straight up that it was not that deep and they were just hustling to implement shit fast enough to meet the strict deadlines to complete the contract.

features have gotten OUT OF CONTROL. on the most recent travis scott album, only SIX out of NINETEEN tracks are just his vocals. Thats not to mention the uncredited features. only SIX. the FINALE isnt even just him its him, and fucking 21 SAVAGE of all people. i am not here for another miserable 21 verse!! and hes on TWO SONGS IN THE ALBUM. same with the weekend!!! who is so unbearably dull he drags every song thats otherwise fine down to his level!!!! i cant even focus on the good parts of these songs because theyre so utterly cluttered with herbs that its miserable!!!! i love the beyonce fearure but frankly i dont need it!! yknow who else is on this fucking album?? DAVE CHAPELLE. 13. worst blorboficiation

Objectively, Lee is the "least evil" mishima and congrats to him for leaving (tho forcefully) that fucked up family and yeah his childhood sucked big time and I have to respect the hustle of him rebranding himself into the funny "excellent" flamboyant guy but GOD he somehow successfully tricked everybody into forgetting that he is also very not a good person. I KNOW we are starving for positive relationships in tekken but he is very much as egoistical and self-interested as the rest of his family, kazuya is his brother only by name only and lee not only doesnt care about him nor their father and he would happily throw him or both of them under the bus to get ahead LIKE HE IS DOING NOW BY WORKING WITH LARS AND JIN AGAINST KAZUYA. Lee could not have inherited raw power from heihachi so he got his manipulativeness, sketchyness and charisma, and lets not talk about how the devil gene is alienating both kaz and jin so there is no way lee could even keep up with that. But if he could I really doubt he would still be regarded as the meme man that he is now. I love lee but I feel like the only person that can see smth sinister lurking under the surface thats funny and approachable and even has friends. Thats not a negative btw I love that about lee but the overly kindness I see from people's interpretation of him sometimes take me out. Hes better, but hes still not good, yknow?

(as for mk im just slipping it there bc its fresh in my head, johnny cage holds the really heavy burden of being the only somewhat comical main character in a sea of dramatic people so he is doomed to be mischaracterized I think. Either hes treated TOO seriously and it feels... wrong in a way I cant explain OR he is subject to comical whorification. But thats just me hating fun I guess.)

Heihachi has the worst fucking development in tekken 7 it genuinely makes me insane that some people would enjoy this botched attempt of sympathy toward him, all while making fun of his original reasonning like "haha lions dont push their cubs off cliffs" WE KNOW its a traditional asian misconception that even has a name and it makes sense bc heihachi is old school but also ITS NOOOT ABOUT THE LITERAL LION THING ITS A METAPHOR ITS ABOUT GENERATIONAL TRAUMA AND TOXIC MASCULINITY GNGNHGNH and its BETTER than a hypothetical witch trial that makes NO SENSE bc HEIHACHI YOU THREW THE KID SAYING THAT IF HE SURVIVED, HE HAD THE EVIL IN HIM. Ive never written a fan fiction before but i really wanted some spooky gvf fictions (cuz i love Halloween and spooky season) so i thought id give it a try!

The Cabin Trip

Jake sat in an old wooden chair slightly uncomfortable on the hard surface, he leaned back with his legs tucked up.

Him and Josh decided to stay the night in the old cabin for a ‘nature retreat’. Some place to relax and get away from the hustle and bustle of tour life while they could.  It was October and they’re headed off to Europe for their Starcatcher tour come November.

"yknow autumn would be a lot nicer if it didn’t get dark so fast" Josh motioned as he slipped inside the rigid old wood door, to find Jake pretzeled on the wooden chair.

Jake shrugged his shoulders barley taking his eyes off his book.

"eh, I kinda like it.. don’t have to wear sunglasses all the time."

"HAH- yeah except you do anyway" josh chirped grabbing his jacket and some kindling from a dusty silver tub.

"I get overstimulated alright!" Jake said fake mad turning his head to see josh giving him an eye roll as he turned the corner into the dark hallway.

Josh went out the back door. 'To the firepit to start a fire' Jake assumed given the kindling tucked in his arms as he left. 

Some time passed and the quiet sounds of nature came to a hush. Its almost too quiet. The darkness of night came so quickly Jake hadn’t realized he was sitting in total darkness until his eyes strained to see the words of his book.

He was about to flick on the lamp beside him when he heard a creek in the floorboard down the hall. He almost forgot about Josh outside. Jake paused his motion leaning his head to get a better view of the dark hall.

"Josh?" Jake asked casually into dark. Still paused in his motion of reaching for the lamp. His eyes strained and saw a dark figure walk passed the hall with heist. Quickly Jake finished the motion of turning the lamp on without removing his eyes from the source of the movement. He waited in silence for a second.

"Josh?!" Jake called out annoyed this time. I know you can hear me he thought.

"Seriously Josh fuck off... what are you doing!?" Jake voiced into emptiness. It was deathly quiet all throughout the cabin.

Until a loud bang from the front door opening made Jake jump and rip his eyes off the hallway. Josh walked in completely chipper and said

" oh there you are! what the hell I thought you would’ve came out? some hell,ve a book" he said doubtfully grabbing more kindling under his arm. Jake wide eyed, still shaken up from the bang of the door.

“hey, did you call my name by the way?' Josh asked bent over picking through pieces of wood.

"Yes! I saw you walk down the hall why the fuck didn’t you answer me?!"

josh frowned a confused look matching his twins face.

"I didn’t? I was outside the whole time" Josh said standing straight up slightly irritated

"Why did YOU lock the back door, now I had to walk all the way around to the front?" Josh retaliated.

"I didn’t! -…" Jakes voice trails off remembering the human figure he had seen earlier. If josh was outside the entire time ...jakes head quickly turned back to the hall scanning wide eyed.

" What?!" Josh said more irritated than anything.

Jake stood up not taking his eyes off the hall as he did. He slowly walked towards his twin and pointed to the hall as he spoke.

" There was a person-w-walking past the hall earlier-I saw it!" He spoke in hush tones as if fearing being heard by anyone else but josh. Josh looked at him skeptical, trying to rationalize what Jake was saying.

"No, I’m deadass right now Josh I’m not fucking around!!" Jake pleading Josh to believe him. The seriousness and panic in Jakes eyes were enough.

" .. and you didn’t lock the back door... are you SURE??" Josh said equally hush locking his eyes down the dark hall.

"YES, I’m fucking sure!" Jake said between is teeth.

A thud came from the corner of hall where their eyes couldn’t see.  All corners where pitch black even with the lamp on. They froze not making a breath. Staring at the location of the sound.

The light switch to the hall was far to close to the source of the sound for that to be an option. Plus neither of them could move... even if they could.. would they want to see ?

They stood for what felt like hours. Finally, Josh grabbed Jakes arm lightly and tugged, whispering to him

"we need to go .. like now.."

With that they bolted out the front door and straight to the car without looking back. Jake driving, quickly started the car and made heist down the dirt path back to civilization.

As they drove, dirt dusted up behind them, sparkling under the moon light. Josh looked back to see the dying fire he left was completely out.. and standing by the firepit where Josh had been all night..there was a black figure of a man, with glowing eyes waving at him as the car turned the corner leaving the old cabin behind.
