RSD is crazy sometimes.
I called a library in Mad*son to confirm that they’re a federated system and wanted to see if I still have an account and I knew there was a decent chance they wouldn’t look me up in case it wasn’t me. And I felt horrible like close to tears when they said they can’t do it over the phone and I’ll have to come in with an ID. Like sick to my stomach I feel horrible. Because they couldn’t do something that I KNOW they can’t do. I mean there’s ways to do it you can’t give away much information for ethical and legal reasons but. Why am I like thisss
#part of the answer is I was off my vynse for a few days and it’s set me off in a particular way#like it hasn’t built back up in my system yet and also it was a few days of. off.#I’ve gotta go to work and I know it’s going to be stressful bc whoever was supposed to be the other morning person called out.#it might be fine maybe some of the professional staff helped out more#I hope so at least. this week it will be warm at home and I’m gonna get a ton of music onto my phone which will be cool#so. hopefully I don’t freak out from being home right after/while I am so fragile

What Happened?
(Story Post)
“…A severe weather anomaly in the Thunder Bay area took place last night, at 11:45pm…” Dax heard the sound of the radio as he slowly woke up. He was exhausted and rather sore all over, his body feeling like a pile of bricks. “…Locals reported seeing a big bird made of light fly through the clouds while scientists are saying the lightning, in combination with Canada Day fireworks, may have appeared similar in shape to a bird…” Dax couldn't ignore that and he sat up straight, looking around for the source of the news broadcast. There was a little clock radio on the bedside table reading out 5:44am. Moments later, he realised he didn't recognise his surroundings. He wasn't at the hotel but he was in a bed. He was alone in a room with wooden walls and big glass windows. There was a closet and a dresser, with little wooden animal figures lining the top. Outside, he could see over a small lake. It was awfully familiar.
The bedroom door opened and Kent stuck his head in, glaring at Dax. “So you're awake.” “What? Where am I?” Dax asked. “What happened?” “This is my room, dumbass,” Kent said. “Now get the fuck out.” “Um, how did I get here?” Dax asked. Kent narrowed his eyes. “You don’t remember flying in here like a bat out of hell?” Dax shook his head. Kent huffed. “Best you don't, then...” “Please, I... All I remember was going back to the hotel with Nathan, and then... Then...” He wracked his mind. “I don't know... I don't remember a thing.” “Again, it's best you don't. Get out.” “You don't understand!” Dax said desperately. “I never lose control like this anymore! This isn't normal for me! I need to know what happened. I can't let this happen again. It sounds like a whole city saw me!” “At least the bird's all they fucking saw...” Kent grunted. “You came falling in like a shootin' star and then barge into my house and into my bedroom.” “Really?! I'm so sorry!” Dax apologised. “Please tell me I didn't hurt you!” “Hurt me?” Kent scoffed. “Fuck no... You think you could hurt me, veggie boy? Get fucked.” “So, then... What?” Dax asked. “What did happen last night?” Kent clenched his jaw. “Nothin'. You went to sleep.” Dax blinked. “...Seriously, Kent. What happened?” Kent just set his jaw and didn't make eye contact. Dax started to panic. “...Don’t tell me... We didn't... You and I...” Kent just retreated and closed the door behind him. “Get your clothes and get the fuck out!” he called through the door. Dax dropped his head into his hands. “No... Shit, shit, we can't...” The aches of his body told him otherwise though. He got up with the blanket wrapped around his waist, and looked for his clothes. He found them on the floor and pulled on his boxers before hobbling to the door, opening it again. His eyes found Kent standing in his kitchen watching his coffee pot drip. “Kent,” Dax said getting the bear man's attention. “We need to talk about this.” “We absolutely do not,” Kent growled. “Your bags are there.” Dax looked down to find his and Nathan's overnight bags at his feet. “I need to call Nathan... Let me borrow your phone.” Kent huffed and went through his kitchen drawers before he pulled out a smartphone and tossed it to Dax. Dax wasn’t prepared and fumbled it, but his managed to catch it. “Be careful! These things are fragile and expensive...” Kent just shrugged. Dax tried to turn it on but he got nothing but an empty battery symbol. “It's dead...” “Yep.” “You have to keep it charged up,” Dax said. “Where's the charger?” Kent frowned. “Don't know.” Dax groaned in frustration. “Have you ever charged it?” Kent shook his head. “Nope.” “So, I imagine you never took the charger out of the box,” Dax assumed. “Do you have the box?” Kent opened the same drawer again and pulled out the box onto the counter. Dax went over, giving the bear man wide berth, and took the box before going through it. He pulled out the phone charger and looked around for an outlet. “Hopefully this thing charges fast,” he said as he found an outlet by the light switch and plugged it in. “Although it'll be a pain if you never even set it up...” “It's set up,” Kent said. “It went off a whole lot before it crapped out.” “It just lost charge,” Dax said. “It's probably like brand new. They even provided you a case and screen protector. I wish people gave me free thousand dollar phones...” “That thing costs a thousand dollars?” Kent exclaimed. “You have to be kidding me!” “No, this looks like the latest device...” Dax said. “I can't google it right now, but these big brand ones can run you anywhere from $1000 to $1900 depending on if it's the fancy version or not.” “Shit, you ain't joking...” Kent went over and picked up the phone where it was charging. “If I'd known, I would've pawned it off immediately...” “Good thing you didn't since you're going to have to use it if you want to be in contact with your kids,” Dax said crossing his arms. Kent sneered. “I’d just buy a normal land phone.” “Um, you're off the grid. Your house literally isn't near any telephone lines. It's a miracle you have cell reception in the first place.” Kent groaned and put the phone down. “Still though... How am I supposed to use this thing anyway? There's no real buttons and my hands are too big." “No, they're not. Look, there's accessibility settings in the phone to help you out if you really need it,” Dax said, picking up the phone to see if it had enough charge to turn on. He got a happy little jingle and the logo appeared. “Yes! Alright, after I call Nathan, I'll show you how to use it.” “Don't need it,” Kent said firmly. Dax frowned. He stood up straight and looked Kent dead in the eyes. “Look, asshole. You have been nothing but rude to me this entire visit. I get it. I'm the other guy. I'm the one Nathan chose to raise his kids with. I'm the one in the way of you having a happy little family or whatever... But I'm really not your enemy. Nathan has said a lot of bad things about you, but I gave you the benefit of the doubt because I didn't know you. I even tried to convince him to bring the kids up to meet you in the first place. And now that we're here, I still think you deserve to see your kids, but you need to show me at least a tiny ounce of respect. I'm literally just trying to help you. Nathan, like everyone else in the ‘First World’, is smartphone dependent. If you can't use one, he's not going to bother trying to reach you some other way, and you're not going to see your kids. Let me show you how to use the damn phone.” Kent crossed his arms and didn't say anything. Dax sighed and just tried to figure out if he could access his contacts online through Kent's phone. When he managed to log into his own account, he found Nathan's phone number and called it. After a couple rings, Nathan picked up. “Hello?” “Nathan, it's me, Dax!” “Dax? Oh, thank god... Are you alright?” “I think so... I'm at Kent's. I'm using his phone,” Dax explained. “Yeah, I'm on my way over now. APID tracked down your location, but they insisted on me waiting until they had everything under control around here before they let me come get you... I'm really glad you're okay. You really scared me last night.” “Nathan, I'm so sorry... I honestly have no idea how I even ended up here,” Dax said. “The thunderbird took over and I...I don't understand what happened to me... It's been years since I've lost control like this, and it's never been this bad...” “It's okay, babe. What matters is you're safe and it's over. I'm coming to get you. Just relax, okay?” “Yes, alright...” “Can I talk to Kent for a moment?” “Sure.” Dax offered the phone to the bear man. Kent took it and grunted into the receiver. “Nate?” “Yeah, hey... I'm coming to get Dax and you better be nice to him. He's freaking out, and I'm kinda freaking out too, so give him a break.” “Veggie boy's fine here,” Kent said. “Don't get your knickers in a twist.” “What state was he in when he got to your place? Did he cause any damage?” Kent hesitated. “...No, he just swooped in and passed out...” “Okay... Well, we're ten or fifteen minutes away. You can tell me everything when I get there.” “There's no everything, that's it. You should be telling me what the fuck happened for sparky to come bustin' in here in the middle of the damn night.” “Aw, did he ruin your beauty sleep, big boy?” “Shut up... Come get your boy toy and y'all can get the fuck out. Go back home and get my kids for me.” “That's pretty much the plan,” Nathan said. “You just have to uphold your side of the deal.” “I already trained you some, damn dog. I earned my time with my damn kids.” “You're gonna see them. Relax.” “I better.” “Give me back to Dax.” Kent handed the phone back before going to his room and closing the door behind him. “Nathan, I want to apologise again if I hurt you at all...” Dax said. “I never wanted you to see me at my worst...” “Dax, you've had to be there at my worst countless times already. I'm willing to do the same for you. I care about you.” “...Thank you, Nathan. That means a lot.” “I'll see you in ten, okay?” “Okay. See you soon.” “See you.” Dax hung up the phone and walked it over to Kent's bedroom. He knocked on the door gently. “Hey, let me show you how to make a call before Nathan gets here... Then you can show him what you learned.” The door opened and Kent stood there, looming over Dax. “...Are you plannin' on tellin' him what transpired last night?” Dax shuddered. “...I still don't know exactly what happened last night. You still need to fill me in on the details.” Kent set his jaw. “What do you want me to say?” Dax pursed his lips. “...If I cheated on Nathan, I need to know.” Kent glared at him. “Nothin’ happened!” “I know you're lying to me,” Dax said. “I know you're scared of being gay or having feelings for men and whatever, but this isn't just about you. My relationship is at stake here!” “You think I don't fuckin' know that?” Kent growled. “Do you think Nathan would let me see my damn kids if he found out I fucked his limp dick boyfriend?!” Dax stepped back, his body feeling weak suddenly. “Oh god... So we did... We actually did...” Kent grabbed Dax's shoulder. “Listen, celery stick. Nothin' happened if no one says anythin' happened. Got it?” Dax shook his head. “But what did happen? I don't remember a thing... Did you...did you take advantage of me?” “Advantage?” Kent snarled. “Are you insane? You came on to me! You came into my fuckin' room and tried to ride me!” “Maudite château de marde...Sacrament...” Dax rubbed his temples. “But you let me?” “Don't try to fuckin' blame me,” Kent growled. “There was something wrong with you, you had all these damn pheromones reekin’ up my damn room, I didn't have any damn control. The bear had control!” “I fucked a bear?!” Dax felt like he was gonna pass out. “Well, no. I was still mostly human,” Kent said. “It ain't that time.” “If you didn't transform, you were in control!” Dax said. “You didn't fuckin' transform and you weren't in no damn control!” Kent said. “I’m not a therianthrope, the Thunderbird has different levels of control, it's all complicated!” “Well, I'm complicated too, damn it! I ain't fuckin’ no man on purpose!” “Bullshit!” Kent grabbed Dax's arms and turned them both around before shoving him against the wall beside his bedroom door. “Listen, you little bitch!” Dax gasped in pain. “You're hurting me...” “Nathan ain't going to hear about this,” Kent growled. “Nothin’ happened. Do you understand?” Dax frowned looking up at Kent. “I'm not going to lie to him.” “I will fuckin' kill you,” Kent threatened. Dax didn't back down. “And then what? Nathan will be here in minutes with agent Hanover. You'd be arrested on the spot, sent back to the US, and they will execute you for real this time. You'll never meet your children and they truly will be the kids of a murderer.” Kent just glared at him a few more seconds and then he squeezed Dax's wrist, digging his thumbs in. “Why do you want to tell Nathan? You want to lose him?” “Of course, I don't, but I...” Dax bit his lip. “I understand what it's like to be cheated on. I know how horrible it feels to be lied to and to be made to feel guilty about something someone else did. But I love Nathan, and this was a mistake. The best chance for this all to work out the best possible way is to be honest and work through it together.” “...That's hippy crap,” Kent said. “He's going to kick your ass to the curb.” “Then...so be it,” Dax said. “But I trust Nathan to be a better person than that.” Kent just let go of Dax and walked back to the kitchen in a huff. He opened the fridge and pulled out a beer. Dax exhaled, his heart racing faster than he wanted to let on. He rubbed his wrists and found small punctures where Kent had dug in with his sharp nails. They bled a little. “I can still show you how to use the phone...” Dax offered, trying to be the better man. “I'll need a couple Band-Aids first, though...” Kent popped the lid off his beer with the edge of the counter. “Bathroom, under the sink. But don't bother with the damn phone. Nathan’ll be here soon...” “Well, if we got started, we'll at least look like we're getting along when he gets here,” Dax said as he went to the bathroom. Kent grunted. “Fine. But get dressed.” “You don’t have to tell me twice…”

If anyone has any other requests for me, feel free to send them in, and if you have them in my inbox already, know that I am working on them, I swear! 😂 I feel like its kinda rushed, ngl, but here we go! ENJOY!
--------------------
"Come on out Parker, I know you're up here," Bucky called out to the outwardly vacant rooftop. He swung his legs over the side of the Tower calmly and waited.
"Uhm, I'm good. Thanks." he heard Peter squeak nervously from behind him. He chuckled a little at the evident panic in his voice, and patted the spot next to him.
"It's okay kid, I'm not here to hurt you, I just wanna talk."
Moments passed, and Bucky could practically hear the gears of fear and curiosity winding inside the young spiderling's head as he contemplated things. Bucky sighed, his patience running thin.
"Come on Peter, you know that if I wanted to harm you that I would've done it already."
After a few more moments and a mutter of something that sounded a lot like 'that's comforting', Peter eventually sat on the ledge next to Bucky.
Well, actually he was a good six feet away from being next to him, but Bucky would take what he could get.
"So," he broke through the silence, eyes focused out towards the sky rather than the blue and red clad figure sitting beside him. "What are you doing here kid?"
"Oh I was just out on patrol and so ya know I was like in the-- in the neighborhood so I just thought I'd drop by," Peter cleared his throat, stuttering awkwardly through what was so clearly an excuse. Bucky chuckled.
"Kind of a long way from Queens though," he drawled amusedly. "And I'm sure you 'stopping by' has nothing to do with the fact that you can very clearly see Y/N's bedroom window from here."
Peter's flush was instant.
"Oh no-- that's not -- I wasn't--" he stuttered frantically, waving his hands wildly. Bucky let him go on for a while -- a sick sense of glee filling his chest as he watched his daughter's ex-boyfriend panic. Eventually he raised his hand, and Peter instantly fell silent.
"C'mon kid, let's not start this out with a lie. Why don't you tell me why you're really here?"
"I just...wanted to check and see if she's okay," Peter murmured after another pregnant pause, voice so quiet he was barely audible. Bucky turned to face him more fully, and felt a little of his lingering anger dissolve at the look of utter sadness splayed across the young boy's features.
"She's not." Bucky replied firmly. "But I think you would've already known that, seeing as you were the one to end things."
"Yeah I know," he muttered. Peter's hand flicked towards his face, gloved fingertips batting away a few of the tears he'd let escape. "But I didn't really have much of a choice."
"So I've heard," Bucky hummed. "I think I know why that is, but why don't you tell me why you think that is."
Peter paused, tear-filled eyes staring off into the distance as he contemplated his next words carefully. Bucky let him think, taking the time to study Peter's face more fully in the meantime. His eyes were puffy and red from his tears, but the dark purple circles under them made it clear that this wasn't the first time he'd cried recently. The skin of his face was paler than usual, and his cheeks looked a little gaunt.
All in all, Peter looked miserable.
If he were being honest with himself, Bucky would have to admit that the sight of his pain was a little satisfying -- after all, he was the reason Y/N had been so heartbroken lately. But it was the look in the young boy's eyes that kept him from feeling too smug. It was the same dull, lifeless look that he'd seen in his daughter's eyes for weeks. Bucky couldn't help but feel his heart reach out for the kid as he noted his evident suffering.
"I thought she'd just be better off without me," Peter's soft reply broke him out of his thoughts abruptly. "I mean, you saw what happened with those girls. All because of me, because of Spiderman, and I just thought if I cut things off now then hopefully she could just...I dunno, move on? Find somebody new, someone normal, that way she'd always be…"
"Safe?" Bucky supplied quietly. Peter's eyes snapped to the older man's face, expression one of complete surprise. He nodded slowly before casting his eyes away once more.
"Yeah," he managed to reply, voice cracking as his tears began flowing once more. Bucky sighed, scooting closer to him and placing a comforting hand on Peter's shoulder. Peter jumped a little at the contact, but he didn't move away like Bucky expected. They sat that way for a few minutes -- Peter sobbing quietly and Bucky sitting stoically next to him.
"Did I ever tell you about the first time I held Y/N?" Bucky asked plainly. Peter sniffled, head turning upwards to face the older man in surprise.
"N-no sir. I don't think we've ever actually talked before today," Peter replied slowly.
"Yeah, that's probably true," Bucky chuckled. "But it's worth telling now."
Peter nodded, eyes still trained on Bucky, a look of confusion overtaking his features.
"Well obviously Steve was the first one to hold her -- he barely waited until they hosed her off before he snatched her up," he recalled fondly, chuckling a little at the memory. Peter too cracked a smile at the mental image, and Bucky scored himself an imaginary point for managing to keep the kid from crying for a minute.
"But when I finally managed to pry her away from him long enough for me to hold her, the very first thing I felt was this overwhelming sense of love. But almost immediately that love led to this feeling of terror," he continued, the smile sliding from his face. "I mean, there she was -- just the tiniest little thing you'd ever seen, her entire body fit practically in my hand she was so small. I was overcome with complete panic when I realized just how fragile she was. I just stood there for a minute, picturing all of the terrible things that could happen to her, that sweet little alien-looking thing. How on earth was I supposed to keep her safe, when so much of mine and Steve's lives were filled with constant danger?"
Peter didn't move an inch, his entire being enthralled by Bucky's story.
"I struggled with that a lot when Y/N was younger. Hell, I'd be lying if I said I didn't still struggle with it -- I think that's a big part of why I'm so protective of her now, as I'm sure you've noticed," Bucky smiled wryly. To his credit, even though Bucky could tell Peter was fighting the urge to scoff he merely nodded dumbly in response. “Yeah sorry about that I guess? I mean I’m not, but I feel like I should say that.”
Peter chuckled a little at the brutal honesty, the slightest hint of an amused smile quirking at the edges of his lips. Bucky gleefully scored himself another mental point before he continued.
“I spent every second I could with her after we brought her home, just watching her sleep and making sure she was safe. They say parents don’t get any sleep with a newborn, but I legitimately didn’t sleep for more than an hour at a time for almost a month. Unless I knew Steve was awake, I couldn’t bring myself to take my eyes off her. Eventually I got so burnt out that I had a full blown panic attack and Steve finally forced me to take a break. He all but locked me in our room, and wouldn’t let me come out until I’d finally gotten some decent rest. It was hard, but I knew in my mind that he was right -- while I was stuck in there I wound up doing a lot of thinking. And do you know what I realized?”
Peter shook his head, brown eyes wide and locked onto Bucky’s face as he breathlessly waited for the answer. Bucky looked him directly in the eyes, pausing for a moment. He wanted to ensure that Peter heard and understood everything that he was about to say.
“Even though bad things might happen to Y/N because of our lifestyles, she was better off with us than without,” Bucky stated firmly. Peter’s face scrunched in confusion for the briefest of moments but Bucky saw a flash of understanding pass through his eyes. The young boy glanced away, spurring Bucky to continue. “True, I couldn’t and can’t protect her from everything, but she was gonna grow up with the biggest, strangest, and most loving family a kid could hope for. Not to mention the fact that she was born into a family full of extremely capable superhumans and assassins that would literally kill for her. Sure she was going to inevitably run into problems from time to time, but as long as she had us to teach her and protect her then I truly felt she would be alright.”
Peter swallowed thickly and the two sat silently for a few minutes as they let the gravity of Bucky’s words sink in. Sometimes it was all too easy to forget just how young Peter really was, but he'd never looked more his age than in this moment. His eyes were cast downward and his tear soaked lashes were so long that they rested across his pink-splotched cheeks as he cried. Bucky patted his back comfortingly as he waited. After a few moments, Bucky internally wondered if he should continue, but Peter spoke up before he had a chance.
“But don’t you ever-- I dunno, feel like guilty?”, Peter blurted out curiously. “I mean even just that little fight was enough to freak me out completely. I can’t...I don’t ever want her to get hurt because of me.”
“I get it kid, I used to feel the same way,” Bucky exhaled through his nose, a soft chuckle unintentionally bubbling out of his throat at the insinuation. “But believe me, I learned very early on that if Y/N wants to get into a fight, then she will. I think she takes too much after Steve, the two of them are so damned stubborn that they almost make me seem like the level-headed one.”
Peter laughed out loud for the first time all night, and Bucky would be willing to bet it was the first time in much longer than that. He chuckled along with him, slightly proud of the look of fondness that took over his boyish features.
"Yeah. Yeah that's probably true." Peter chuckled.
"Mmmmhm. So, you feeling any better kid?"
Peter nodded earnestly, fingers brushing away the last of his tears.
"Good," Bucky hummed. "Now, I'm going to need you to fix things with my daughter, otherwise you and I are going to have a very different kind of conversation. Am I clear?"
"Y-yes sir," Peter replied meekly, an audible gulp escaping the poor boy. Bucky grinned widely, clapping his hand on his back once more.
"Knew I could count on you."
--------------------
Peter couldn’t remember the last time he’d been this happy.
Sitting on the couch, you were wrapped so tightly around him that he couldn't hardly tell where his limbs ended and yours began. You were curled up in his lap, his arms cadging your back firmly against his front as his face rested into the crook of your neck. There was some movie playing on the giant tv in front of the two of you, but Peter wasn't paying attention to it at all; he was too awestruck by his sheer luck, eternally grateful to be with you again after so long.
Even though he couldn't see your face from his position, he could tell that you were on the verge of falling asleep. Every few minutes your fingers would pause on their trek up and down his forearm and your head would roll even further backwards as you drifted asleep before snapping back upwards once more. He chuckled fondly at you, placing a sweet kiss to your cheek as a feeling of warmth spread throughout his entire body.
"You're exhausted sweet girl," he murmured into your neck softly. "Go ahead and sleep, I can tell you're fighting it."
You shook your head stubbornly, adorably clinging to his arms even tighter at the insinuation.
"M'not," you protested through a yawn. Little butterflies swirled in Peter's tummy at the sound of the pout evident in your voice. He placed another kiss to your cheek, unable to contain the feeling of joy that'd been coursing though him since he'd first gotten you back in his arms.
"You are though," he chuckled.
"I don't wanna sleep," you argued. "Too afraid this was all just a really good dream."
Peter's chest immediately felt heavy, arms winding around you more securely at your whispered confession. He understood exactly what you meant. To be perfectly honest, he was having a hard time believing this was real too.
He knew it was probably just teenage dramatics, but the two weeks that he’d spent without you felt like the longest weeks of his life -- weeks spent in absolute misery. It’d seemed like the only solution at the time, but he’d had an increasingly difficult time justifying that choice when not being with you had been so difficult. He was honestly reaching his breaking point long before your dad had sat him down to talk about things, so it didn’t take much convincing on Bucky’s part to get him to change his mind.
But now, as he found himself perched outside your bedroom window he couldn't help but worry that he might've done permanent damage to your relationship. He felt his heart shrivel and harden at the prospect that you may not forgive him, but he couldn't possibly blame you for it. Hell, he'd hated himself since the moment he ended things.
He was only outside your window in the first place because as soon as you'd realized it was him, you'd swiftly slammed the door in his face. He'd tried pleading with you through the wood, but he couldn't tell if any of it was getting through because (outside of some choice swears) you hadn't said a word in response. So, desperate and on his last chance, he'd crawled outside your bedroom window, hoping that even if you didn't speak to him that at least he'd be able to see your face again. Ignoring the weight that settled in his stomach as he took note of your reddened eyes and tear stained cheeks through the glass, he'd focused on saying what he came there to say. You simply stood in the middle of your room stoically with your arms crossed as he rambled on through the pre-planned speech he’d come up with as he tossed and turned all night.
Eventually he reached the end of his hastily prepared monologue, and he fell silent, waiting anxiously for you to respond. The seconds that passed felt like hours as you contemplated things, and his heart felt like it was going to beat out of his chest as he cautiously appraised your every move. A stab of fear and defeat ripped through his chest the moment he realized that you weren’t going to budge. Fresh tears welling in his eyes, he turned to leave, the feeling of defeat and sorrow weighing heavily on his limbs until he felt an actual weight on his arm.
You grabbed his wrist before he’d even moved an inch.
Glaring at him as your own tears slipped silently down your cheeks, you dropped his arm before opening the window wide enough for him to fit through. He sniffled and shot you a desperate look, to which you responded only by rolling your eyes and motioning for him to come inside. Once he'd scrambled through, he could only muster up enough courage to stand wordlessly in the once familiar room as he waited for you to make the next move.
"You're an idiot."
Though your words were biting, Peter couldn't help but think to himself that, after not hearing your voice for weeks, they were the most beautiful sound he'd ever heard.
"I know," he swallowed thickly. You scoffed, fingers swiping your cheeks angrily to remove the lingering traces of your tears as you stared him down.
"What you did really sucked," you continued crossing your arms protectively in front of your chest. "And just because I get why you did it now doesn't change that."
"I know," he agreed, tears silently beginning to fall from his eyes. You sucked in a shuddering breath. "You're absolutely right, I'm an idiot."
You chuckled a little bit at his admission, your arms dropping by your sides.
"I wish you would've just talked to me. Told me what you were feeling, you know?" you replied in a near-whisper. "Cause just getting cut-off from you all at once...it really sucked."
Your bottom lip began to tremble and fresh tears began to run down your face uncontrollably. Peter swore he could actually hear a crack echo in the small room as his heart broke at the sight of you. Unable to physically handle the distance between the two of you for a moment longer, he wasted little time in crossing the short space and pulling you into his arms.
To his immense relief, you allowed him to pull you into his chest easily, your arms wrapping around his body just as tightly. He thrust his face into your messy hair, and your face buried itself into his chest instantly. It wasn't long before he felt your hot tears seeping through the thin fabric of his shirt, but he really couldn't care less at the moment. Especially given the fact that he was sure you could feel his own tears soaking through your hair.
"I-I'm so sorry Y/N," he sobbed, his voice muffled from the way he pressed his face to your head. "I'm s-so sorry angel, I'm such an idiot. I hated every single second I wasn't with y-you, and I swear I'll never do anything like that ever again."
Your only response was to pull him impossibly closer to you, your arms practically clawing at his back in the process.
The two of you had stood like that for an immeasurable amount of time, sobbing into each other in that dramatic way only teenagers really could, until eventually both your eyes had run dry. Then you just talked. First about the whole situation and then about everything the two of you had missed about the other in the time you weren't speaking. Peter had come to see you early in the morning, but by the time all was said and done it was already the early evening. Despite the fact that the two of you were exhausted, neither one of you were willing to part just yet and thus you'd wound up where you were now, cuddling in one of the Tower's many common rooms.
Peter exhaled tensely, your quiet admission sending a stab of guilt deep into his chest. He kissed the top of your head apologetically.
"I'm so sorry y/n," he murmured against your hair. "I can't explain how sorry I am that I've made you feel like you can't count on me anymore."
You were so silent that, for a moment, Peter thought you might've finally succumbed to your evident exhaustion. It wasn't until a few moments later that he felt you snuggle deeper into his hold and place a delicate kiss to his cheek that he realized you hadn't. He couldn't hold back the large grin that overtook his face nor the raging blush that began creeping up his cheeks at your sweet gesture.
"S'okay Petey," you mumbled, clearly on the verge of dozing. "I mean, it's not, but you can just give me constant cuddles from now on and then we'll be good."
Peter let out a breathy giggle, feelings of amusement and affection surging through his chest at the determined, and yet sleepy tone of your voice. He felt your breaths even out, and he placed a light kiss to your hair as he listened to the slow, comforting thumping of your heartbeat.
"Don't worry angel, already planning on it."
--------------------
"Buck, are you seeing what I'm seeing?" Steve whispered, stopping dead in his tracks and pulling his husband to a stop through their interconnected hands. Bucky frowned a bit as his eyes scanned the room, wondering what could've possibly been behind the pure shock lacing Steve's tone. They were on their way out, intent on spending some time alone together for the first time in a long while, and Bucky knew something big must've caught his husband's attention if he was making the time to stop.
"What?" he questioned confusedly after finding seemingly nothing amiss in the common room. Steve nudged him gently, wide eyes darting towards one of Stark's insanely expensive leather couches as if to say 'there, look over there dummy!'. Bucky felt his brows furrow deeper as he struggled to process what could possibly have his husband so worked up. It was just Y/N and Peter, the two of them sitting disgustingly close to one another as they idly watched some movie on the Tower's practically movie-theater sized tel--
Oh.
Steve grinned at the sight of the two of them, squeezing Bucky's hand excitedly as he watched them.
"That's great, I didn't know they were back together, did you?"
Bucky merely grunted in response, rolling his eyes and feigning nonchalance whilst internally feeling exceedingly relieved that things would hopefully go back to normal now. He felt so light, in fact, that a deep chuckle burst through his chest before he could stop it-- although he quickly covered it with a cough.
The sound of him clearing his throat did not go unnoticed, Peter lifted his cheek slightly from the top of your head to look at the two super soldiers. His face immediately broke out into a furious blush, and though he would normally scramble away from you at the sight of your dads, he didn't move a muscle. Instead, he simply smiled nervously in their direction.
Steve's face broke out into an even bigger grin, and he nodded curtly at the young boy before looking at Bucky with a very smug 'I told you so' face.
Bucky rolled his eyes in fake annoyance, but shot Peter a knowing wink once Steve turned away. He scored himself a final mental point for sorting things out with Parker as he allowed his husband to pull him towards the door. The teen smiled and returned his attention to your sleeping form, feeling much happier than he had in weeks.

Missing In Action
I wish she would stop staring at me.
Lucille sat at the Lees’ usual table and apathetically picked through a heaping salad. (Friday was salad bar day, which I appreciated considerably more than the chicken finger obsession that marred Mondays at Calawah University.) Every once in a while, Rami nudged her and Lucille would spear a cherry tomato with her fork and bite it in half with perfectly even, white teeth. But her large blue-green eyes—they reminded me of webs of seaweed tumbling in the cold, frothing La Push waves—always found their way back to me, strangely focused, inquisitive, perhaps accusatory.
Ben probably told them how much he hates me for whatever nebulous reason and now they all hate me too and I’m going to spend the next two years being death-glared by five ridiculously attractive and somewhat incestuous foster kids.
Chemistry was a three times a week class. Ben hadn’t shown on Wednesday, and I was 99% sure he would skip again today. I spotted him around campus periodically, always from a distance: dropping quarters into a vending machine, clandestinely vaping behind dorm buildings (what self-respecting pre-med student VAPES?!!), browsing YouTube videos in the library next to a tower of unopened textbooks, biology and chem and physics and calculus. He wasn’t home, he wasn’t sick; there was no attempt made to construct any sort of pretext. He was patently avoiding me.
I stabbed moodily at the serrated disks of cucumber in my salad. Jessica was blathering away about the latest season of The Bachelor and ranking the contestants’ eyebrows from best to worst. “...Like seriously, has she never heard of microblading?!”
“For real,” Angela offered, not especially invested but forever a good sport.
Lucille’s eyes settled on me again as she sipped a cup of steaming tea, staring until her forehead crinkled with the effort, staring hard, almost leering.
“What’s her problem?” I muttered.
Jessica shot a glance towards the Lee table and slurped her Sprite. The great mystery surrounding her potential Mormon-ness persisted. “Who? Lucy?”
Only Lucille’s friends called her Lucy. Jessica, a shameless aspiring socialite, presumed she was everybody’s friend unless they explicitly informed her otherwise, which of course no one ever did.
“Yeah,” I answered glumly.
“Maybe it’s your dress.”
“My dress? What’s wrong with my dress?”
Jessica wrinkled her nose and surveyed me as if I were a bug, and not a cute bug like a roly-poly bug or The Very Hungry Caterpillar or whatever. Like a really hideous bug. Like one of those spider-cricket hybrid things that hopped straight out of a hell dimension and into the dark, drippy corners of your basement. “It’s, like, very 1960s. But not in a sexy Woodstock way. In a ‘I’m about to join a hippie murder cult’ way.”
“I got it at TJ Maxx. It was on sale.”
Jessica snorted. “Probably for a reason.”
“That’s it. I’m giving all the hippies in my new murder cult your address.”
She and Angela laughed. Mike and Eric, the missing pieces of our daily lunch puzzle, were preoccupied with a campus protest to convert fried fish day (Thursdays) into tacos day. I sympathized with their efforts, but didn’t feel that my one-week tenure as a Calawah University student gave me much right to go around overhauling the dining hall schedule.
“I doubt she’s actually offended by a dress,” Angela said, nibbling on French fries that shed grains of salt like snowflakes.
Jessica sighed dreamily. “But Lucy’s just so fashionable...and that accent...” She drifted off into some daydream which began—I could only assume—with Lucy’s invitation to go shopping together and concluded with marrying Ben on some lush tropical island in the South Pacific.
Lucille was definitely fashionable, especially today: short black dress with sheer sleeves that ran to her fragile wrists, black polka dot tights, black heeled oxfords, dangling ruby earrings like beads of blood. She would have blended in perfectly at Paris Fashion Week. Rami was wearing a cardigan and khakis, per usual; Joe was in dark fitted jeans and a roomy U Chicago hoodie despite the fact that Forks was at minimum a thirty-four hour drive from the Windy City. What did Angela say his major was? Finance? No, Mathematical Economics. So he’s probably aiming at Chicago for an MBA or Econ PhD someday. Angela had told me that Joe was wicked smart. He better be if he’s entertaining fantasies of grad school at the University of Chicago.
Scarlett had come straight from Fencing Club and was wearing bright pink yoga pants and a t-shirt with the sleeves cut out, sprinkling Hot Cheetos into her open mouth, her blonde hair secured in a tight French braid. You know those girls who are so irrationally, gluttonously, unfairly beautiful that it doesn’t seem possible the genetic lottery could spit out so many winning numbers at once, and you comfort yourself with the certainty that there must be some set of circumstances that would level the playing field—I bet she looks like anyone else without all that makeup, she just has a really good sense of style and knows how to maximize her assets, there are definitely some goofy oversized ears hiding beneath that hair and that’s why she always wears it down—and then one day you run into them wearing sweatpants and a ponytail in the tampon aisle at Walmart and they’re still so perfect it stings you, baffles you, makes you feel like there must have been some divergence in the evolutionary chain because there’s no freaking way you’re the same species? Yeah, Scarlett was one of those girls. Scarlett was the queen of those girls.
Ben was conspicuously absent from the table.
Scarlett’s pink leopard-print iPhone rang and she answered. “Hello?” She turned to Joe. “Dad says you left your phone at home. Do you need it?”
Joe was gnawing his way through his third slice of pepperoni pizza. “No, I’m good, thanks though.”
Scarlett relayed the message. “Dad says he’s going to bring it by just in case.”
“Oh my god, ScarJo, I’m fine! Tell him not to!”
“Dad says he doesn’t trust you and he’s going to be here in fifteen minutes. He’s also bringing the Game Theory homework you left by the hot tub.”
Joe groaned and rolled his lively dark eyes as Rami grinned at him; Lucille was still watching me and entirely oblivious.
“Isn’t it weird that Ben and Lucille have accents?” I asked Jessica. “That they’re from the U.K.? I didn’t think fostering kids was an international thing.”
“It’s not that weird. Dr. Lee is British too. Maybe there’s some kind of exchange system, I don’t know. But you know what I do know?”
“What?” Now my interest was piqued.
She smiled. “That the British accents are hot.”
“Ugh,” I exhaled involuntarily.
“Please get a hobby,” Angela begged Jessica. “Start a YouTube channel. Make care packages for orphans. Grow marijuana. Adopt a cat. I have a shift at the animal shelter this Sunday morning, you want to come with me?”
“Sorry, can’t. I have a temple thing.”
Temple on Sunday. The mystery is solved. She’s a Mormon for sure. I mentally resolved not to let her set me up with anyone unless I was still single on Valentine’s Day. Which, obviously, assuming I’m not dead in a ditch somewhere, I will be.
I gathered up my trash and slung my backpack over my shoulder. “Okay, well this has been a bizarre lunch to be completely honest, and now I have to go to Chemistry so I’ll see you later and hopefully we can brainstorm some more alternatives to Jessica’s current life trajectory on Monday. Because I am not looking forward to being a bridesmaid in these impending Lee nuptials.”
“Oh please!” Jessica lamented. “He doesn’t even know I exist. You, on the other hand...”
I scoffed. “Yeah, he wants to kill me. I truly have a gift.”
They waved as I left. I could feel Lucille’s eyes on me until I reached the door.
Sure enough, Ben wasn’t in Chemistry. I tried not to notice. I drew my atoms, wrote my equations, took my notes diligently and in my favorite sky blue ink. But I felt the emptiness in the chair next to me like a black hole, like an immense and dragging weight, like a snag in the fabric of all those interwoven strands of physics that orchestrate the universe like an immortal puppeteer. Why can’t I forget this guy? Why do I still feel like I’ve met him before?
Halfway through class, I hauled my emergency sweatshirt out of my backpack and pulled it on over my dress, floral and flowing and golden yellow like the sun, the sun that never shines here in Forks. I had liked it plenty under the florescent lights of the fitting room at TJ Maxx, and I had still liked it this morning; but Jessica’s words hummed around in my skull like wasps. The zipper of the sweatshirt was broken, but it accomplished the task of obscuring my dress well enough.
After Chemistry, I journeyed to the campus library to find a book I was supposed to read and present for a different class. I looked it up in the computer catalogue, spent an embarrassingly long time trying to figure out how the Dewey Decimal System works, eventually wound up finding the book on the highest floor of the library...and, to add a little extra peril to the mission, on the highest shelf. The book mocked me from its lofty, unattainable stronghold. The title was embossed in gold letters down the crimson spine. The Walruses And Me: A Transformative Experience. Idiotic title, I’m aware. It’s about some marine biologist who spent months alone in the Arctic studying the lifecycles of walruses. A noble pursuit, sure, but still a terrible title.
There wasn’t a chair or stepstool in sight. I tested my weight by stepping up onto the second-lowest shelf. The metal immediately squealed and shifted in protest. I retreated back down to the carpet, defeated by gravity. I scowled up at the book and sighed melodramatically. Ugh.
“Need something?”
I spun around to see Joe in his University of Chicago hoodie and pale flawless skin and intangible magnetism, that bewildering trademark Lee ethereality. I instinctively crossed my arms, clutching the sleeves of my sweatshirt, shrinking inwards like a startled armadillo in the Arizona desert.
“Are you, uh, anemic...?” he ventured.
“Oh no, I’m not cold. I’m just trying to hide my dress. My friend said it was too hippie-murder-cult 1960s.”
I figured he’d laugh, make a snide comment, maybe just blink in confusion. Instead, he glimpsed down at my dress—what could still be seen of it, anyway—and shook his head. “The neckline isn’t right for the 60s. And you seem like you’ve showered at least once in the past two weeks, so definitely not a hippie.”
I smiled, completely unexpectedly. “I didn’t realize Econ majors knew anything about leftist counterculture.”
“Disparaging it is our favorite pastime. Are you trying to get a book or are you just disrespecting university property for entertainment?”
I pointed. “The big red one.”
“The Walruses And Me...?”
“I know, it’s a horrible title. Not my personal preference. It’s for a class.”
“Bestiality 101?”
“Good guess. Marine Mammals.”
“Ahhh.” He glanced up and down the aisle, tapped his chin with agile fingers, pondered something I wasn’t privy to. “Turn around for a second.”
“What? Why?”
He waved his hand mysteriously in front of his grinning face. “It’s a magic trick. I’m going to make your problem disappear.”
“You can’t climb that,” I warned. “You’ll fall and break your neck. Or you’ll knock the whole shelf over and cause a tragic domino effect and the university will withhold your diploma until you pay them restitution.”
“I’m extremely athletic.”
“Are you sure?” I appraised him with exaggerated skepticism for comedic effect. “My dad refers to you only as the spindly annoying Lee.”
Oh my god, WHY did I say that?
Now he would definitely hate me. Now I’d have two mortal enemies on one campus. I mentally calculated how humiliating it would be to transfer to some Florida college, any Florida college, after only one week at Calawah. Hi mom, yeah I’m coming to live with you and Paul, a gang of hot pasty foster kids wants to slaughter me.
Instead, Joe threw back his head and cackled wildly. A librarian—mid-fifties, angry red hair from out of a box, fuzzy cat sweater—glared into the aisle and shushed him.
“Chief Swan...he actually...he calls me that? Really?!” Joe managed, wiping his leaking eyes. “That’s hilarious. I’m so glad my life is in his hands. Okay seriously, turn around.”
“Why would you help me?” I asked suspiciously.
“That’s just what I do. I’m a friendly guy.”
“This friendliness must not run in the family.”
Again, Joe’s cheerful demeanor didn’t falter. “You mean Ben? Forget about Ben, he hates everyone. Don’t take it personally.” Then he added: “Plus, as I’m sure you know, we’re not biologically related. No overlapping genetic material whatsoever. I didn’t get the male supermodel gene, he didn’t get the irresistibly charming gene, life’s not fair but the world keeps spinning.”
“It sure does,” I agreed softly. Unexpected wisdom from my new favorite Lee. I turned away from him. “Fine, I’m not looking, go ahead and dazzle me with your supernatural friendliness—”
“Done.”
“What?” I whirled around. Joe held The Walruses And Me in his hand. “How...did you...?!”
He passed me the book as I sputtered incoherently. “I told you. Magic trick.”
“I don’t....?!” I gawked up at the top shelf, at Joe, back to the top shelf. Sure enough, the space where The Walruses And Me once lived was now just a vacant slit in the row of dusty books. How could he have climbed up there that quickly? How could I not have heard anything? “The shelves didn’t even creak,” I murmured shakily.
“Yes, well, that’s due to my conveniently spindly physique.” Joe winked. “Any other problems I can help you solve at the moment, Baby Swan?”
“No. And don’t call me Baby Swan, or I’ll push this whole bookshelf over and tell the feisty librarian lady you did it.”
“That’s cold, ma’am.”
I liked that Joe didn’t make me feel like Ben did: unworthy, unloved, infuriating. Joe made me feel something else, something lighthearted, casual, buoyant; like the world didn’t have anything in it worth worrying about, regretting, agonizing over. Like unadulteratedly myself was all I ever needed to be.
I heard a muted buzz and Joe slid his iPhone out of his jeans pocket. Dr. Lee must have successfully delivered it. “Whoops, I forgot that Ordinary Differential Equations existed. Got to go. See ya.”
“Bye,” I replied. And then Joseph Lee was gone, very quickly, a little too quickly, the same way that Ben had vanished on that first afternoon after Chemistry.
Forks is weird. Calawah University is weird. And the Lee kids are super fucking weird.
Long Walks On The Beach
“Can I ask you a random question?”
“You just paid me $100 for an oil change that took fifteen minutes. You can ask me anything you want.” He grinned, flashing bright teeth and deep dimples.
It was Saturday afternoon. I had shoveled down a Chipotle veggie bowl as Archer changed the 1999 Accord’s oil in a small garage with a cracked concrete floor and the searing pungency of gasoline fumes thick in the air. He had apprenticed all through high school and rented his own shop after graduation. Archer now had a loyal clientele that encompassed virtually the entire Quileute reservation and a growing chunk of Forks...including Charlie and me, of course. Archer was the only child of Larry Foxchild—Charlie’s best friend since they worked together at Dairy Queen as teenagers—and the closest thing to a son my dad would ever have. I guess that made him like a brother to me, something that seemed intuitive now that I’d thought of it.
After the Accord was serviced we drove it down to La Push to walk on the beach, climb the salt-lashed rocks, toss pebbles into the roiling surf, reprise our childhood enthusiasm for poking dead washed-up marine creatures with shards of driftwood.
“Do you know anything about the Lees?” I asked Archer, investigating a deceased green shore crab.
His brow furrowed. He looked so serious like that, suddenly so much like Larry: the same tan skin, jet black hair, umbral eyes like oil wells, strong jaw overlaid with the stubbled shadow of a beard. We really aren’t kids anymore, are we? “The doctor and his kids?”
“Yeah. The foster kids. They’re really pale and strange and half of them are British.”
Archer chuckled. “I know who you mean. They’re hard to miss.”
“Are they...” Just eccentric rich people? Traumatized from abusive childhoods? Government experiments? CIA agents? Secret murderers? The image of Ben in that first Chemistry class came roaring back to me, including the adjective that had flashed red behind my eyes like an emergency exit sign: fierce. Finally, I decided: “Dangerous?”
Now Archer full-on laughed, gripping his belly, shaking his head. Drops of saltwater flew from his short hair. “Seriously?!” he exclaimed. “Come on, they’re freaks but they’re not, like...that kind of freaks.”
“Are you sure?” I was starting to feel better already. Of course they’re not actual demons, you fucking idiot. This is Washington, not The Twilight Zone or Black Mirror. Not goddamn American Horror Story.
“Yeah.” Archer skipped a grey pebble over the water, something I’d never been able to do. “I’ll be honest, I don’t know them all that well. They usually keep to themselves. But I’ve never heard anything bad about any of the kids. And everyone respects Dr. Lee and appreciates him for taking the pay cut to come to some bumblefuck town like Forks. He’s insanely highly credentialed, has degrees from Harvard or Yale or somewhere like that. Super impressive. We’re lucky to have him. I definitely sleep better at night knowing he’ll be the one to fix me up if I ever get a few fingers ripped off on the job.”
“Don’t even say that. Then who would I grossly overpay for oil changes?”
Archer smiled, then sobered as he peered out over the Pacific Ocean.
“What?” I asked, feeling a plummeting in my guts like primal fear.
“Well...okay, so there is one thing that’s always bothered me. You remember Grandpa Foxchild?”
“Yeah, of course.” He had been an impossibly ancient man with long grey braided hair, a low rumbly voice, gnarled arthritic hands, ceaseless wrinkles. I remembered Charlie calling me when he passed away last spring. Renee and I had picked out a flower arrangement to send to the funeral.
“So,” Archer said slowly, like he was still puzzling it out himself. “Grandpa used to say things like ‘That Dr. Lee has been around a long time.’ Which of course makes no sense, the Lees moved here like two years ago. And I’d tell Grandpa that, but he completely ignored me. He would just keep repeating it. ‘That Dr. Lee shouldn’t still be here.’ ‘That Dr. Lee should go on home to where he came from.’ ‘That Dr. Lee isn’t right.’ Creepy shit like that. My dad and I always assumed it was the dementia talking, but...I don’t know. It just bothered me. Because Grandpa...he wasn’t just being gossipy or suspicious. He was angry. And he was afraid. Grandpa was at Guadalcanal and Iwo Jima and he would talk about that no problem, mention landmines or flesh melting off a soldier’s face like it was nothing. He was a tough guy. Immeasurably tough, I’ll never be half the man he was. But if you mentioned the Lees, Grandpa got scared. Why the hell would he be so scared of them?”
I didn’t have an answer for him, not a single word. I just stared at Archer, my eyes growing huge, my heart sprinting, blood pounding in my ears. He knew. Grandpa Foxchild knew there was something off about them, and now I know it too. I don’t know how I know, but I do.
Archer tittered nervously. “Anyway, that was genuinely disturbing. But like I said. It was probably just the dementia.”
“What if it wasn’t?”
“It had to be,” he insisted. “There’s no other logical explanation.”
“I guess,” I agreed, scooping up the green shore crab corpse with my bare hands. I hurled it out into the waves, imagined it sinking through murky water and suspended grains of sand, the body settling into prehistoric silt, the scavengers descending upon it, the inescapable wheel of birth and death and resurrection through those who unwittingly carry our atoms with them into the next generation, into the perpetual future.
That night my dreams were full of pale skin and scorching eyes, Ben and Joe and Rami, Lucille and Scarlett, crashing waves, cold water and bleached bones; and Grandpa Foxchild’s mistrustful refrain: That Dr. Lee has been around a long time.
Benjamin
I soared down the staircase and through the dining room. Gwil was working late at the hospital, Mercy outside tending the animals, everyone else presumably scattered throughout the house. I had to get out before anyone noticed me. I had to get out without Rami or Lucy knowing.
I yanked open the door to the back porch. Rami was waiting there.
“Good evening,” he greeted me in that slow, thoughtful drawl.
“Stay the fuck out of my head.”
“You know how it works, Benny Boy. I can’t ignore the loud thoughts. And you’ve been having some very loud thoughts lately.”
I stared down at my shoes, all black Adidas. Black is good. It doesn’t show stains. For example, purely hypothetically, splatters of human blood and organs. “I can make it quick. I can make it painless.”
Rami’s aura flared maroon; not enraged, no, not quite that, but certainly revolted. I was always finding new and horrifying ways to revolt them, whether I was trying to or not. “She has a family, Ben. A father. You know Chief Swan, you’ve seen him around town. He’s a good person. She’s a good person. You really want to do this? You really want to relapse like this?”
I didn’t reply. I didn’t have to. Hearing thoughts is a tricky thing, and not a gift that I would ever want; unspoken words are rarely a steam and usually a storm, disjointed and twisting, interrupting each other, bottomless layers of whispers and screams. But I was sure Rami could catch the important parts: that I didn’t know the difference between good and bad people, that I didn’t know what to think of people at all, that for me her blood was not a desire but a compulsion. I couldn’t stop envisioning it spilling over my tongue and teeth, down my throat, hot and pulsing erratically and fading. “Why can’t you hear her? Why can’t I see what she’s feeling?”
Rami shrugged, characteristically placid and restrained. It was maddening. “There are seven and a half billion people on this planet. So maybe every once in a while you get one that lives in our blind spots, there’s something chromosomal or psychological that puts them on a different frequency. I don’t know. How the hell should I know? All I know is that you definitely shouldn’t be seriously considering...well. What you’re considering.”
“Have you ever met someone whose thoughts you couldn’t hear before?”
“No,” Rami admitted; and was that a ghost of unease that crossed his face?
“Please, Rami. Let me go. Pretend you never saw me.” My words come out strained, hushed, like a spilled secret, like a confession. I’ve never wanted anyone’s blood like I want hers.
He heard that; I could see the dismay in his eyes. Now his aura is dark grey, almost black. Disappointment. Resignation. Mourning. “I told you what Lucy saw.”
“What she saw is impossible and you know it.”
Again, Rami shrugged. That blind, mindless faith. I wished I knew what it felt like. “She’s never wrong.”
“Have you told him?”
“Who, Joe?! Of course I haven’t told Joe. He...”
“He wouldn’t believe it either?” I snapped, like it was a victory.
“No,” Rami amended carefully. “No, he would believe anything Lucy saw.” Lucy had visions: flashes of the future, the past, the present. They were rare and unpredictable, often fragmented, snapshots rather than arcs. But they were always true. Or, rather, the other Lees claimed they were. The real Lees. “I don’t know what he would do about it,” Rami said finally. “So I’m waiting it out. And killing one of the primary participants is definitely not waiting it out.”
I seethed as I glared at him, hating him in that moment, hating myself only slightly more; and he heard that too. But then that wispy, fleeting haze around him was a pink like the last threads of sunlight sinking into the Western horizon. Forgiveness. Attachment. Love.
“Come with me, Ben,” Rami said gently, opening the door. “Come back inside. You can beat this. You’re better than this. You’re a good soul. You wouldn’t be with us if you weren’t.”
I tried to laugh. It came out like a snarl. “I haven’t had a soul in a long time.”

10.14 - Spoilers
Random thoughts, no particular order.
Danny has some workdays off. He sits in a bar, at 10 am, alone, watching TV. I haven't decided yet if this is a sad picture or if Danny's having a good time, some me-time, away from the normal daily routine… I really don't know. Maybe he's somehow heartbroken over Grace being at college, far away from home, far away from her Danno. It might be all about a dad who must get used to the fact that his daughter grows up. And that hurts, a lot, especially Danny. He's a great dad. Because Danny doesn't look relaxed in this first scene at the bar, more like deeply immersed in serious thoughts. So maybe his face expresses all about the changes in his life he can't stop from happening.
Steve's worried about Danny and I know he has his reasons. So, it really might all be about Grace and college and moving away from home. Steve's looking out for his boy the only reason for his early call to check up on Danny. Okay, I mean Danny must have left the house around what time? 8:30 am? 9:00 am? Something like this? So, he's seen Steve just a moment ago, had a cup of coffee with him. He even petted Eddie before he went to drive off to this bar. And Steve is separated from Danny for how long exactly? For about 2 hours tops? Before Steve decides it's time for a call, to touch base, making sure he's fine. I mean…this, yeah, this is what I live for.
Steve calls Danny, asking him how he's doing. And it's not anywhere near lunchtime but Steve asks Danny to join him, to grab a bite to eat for lunch. Danny has this day off and Steve can't stand the thought thinking Danny might overthink things, having a bad time, a somber mood. Whatever. Anything is good enough to pretend it's all about caring instead of admitting he only wants to hear Danny's voice. Steve's worried, he misses him…
(Damn, right this moment, in the middle of writing this text there's some other thoughts popping up…GAHH!)
How could I forget about that? OHmYGoD! Steve has just had this awful moment with Eddie! He was terrified Eddie might die on that highway, disorientated, run over by a car. Steve's all shaken up emotionally. He can't really admit that fact to himself, not yet at least, only later when the vet is there with him…I got a little of that myself today – talking about anxiety… So, the call to Danny is also to calm Steve down from the recent, shocking events because Eddie is much, so much more than just a dog to him.
Eddie is the main supporting pillar of Steve's fragile world he hides in his heart and his shattered, scarred soul. Steve is still upset and who does he call? Danny.
He calls, just as Danny would have called him and he checks up on his boy. What a great, tender, comforting moment. Steve doesn't see Danny at work due to his short time-out, though Danny still lives at Steve's place (…if he hasn't forgotten his key…) and Steve sees him in the evening for sure but he wants to eat lunch with Danny although he knows Danny is off to have some good time with whatever he's coming up with. The call Steve gives Danny is similar to the one Danny gave Steve in 10.01, exactly the same. I love this continuity. Warms my heart and the inside of my body down to my little toes.
Danny and the unknown, sexy woman. She's a natural beauty. I love everything about her. From her hair to her fair skin, down to her curvy, hot as hell body, to the way she's dressed, wearing the badassery-is-my-first-name tag like she invented also sensuality. I appreciate the absence of heavily put-on make-up. She's gorgeous and perfect. What a woman!! Whoa, she's freaking hot! And so damn far away from Danny's comfort zone, it makes me want to bite something. That pick-up scene where she just entered the bar to catch up on Danny was a total turn-on, so special, totally out of the ordinary, so hot! Holy shit! This sexy brunette plays with Danny and makes one hot move on him after the other.
God, she's so sexy, full of sass and wits and she swaggers into the bar and within seconds she hits on Danny and it knocks me off my feet with the wave of passion and lust and joy of life breezing my way. Bow chica bow wow!
Danny goes with the flow. How could he not? Steve is still important, and he takes the call. Danny would never not take a call from Steve. But after that Danny's world spins out of control. This woman seduces him into a state where Danny's cock rules his body. They go and have a hot fuck in the woman's bathroom of that bar! Danny stumbles into a tiny, confined space with no windows and only walls around him and he's fine! I have a great live-sex-movie in my head with Danny having this impromptu sex and that's why I have to use other words! Let’s be dirty! He bangs her, right there, from behind, and Miss Sexy-and-Brunette has one palm spread wide against the mirror, and with her other hand she clamps the rim of the counter to catch the heavy snaps of Danny's hips against her ass. God, they watch each other in the mirror, Danny takes her from behind, face red and flushed from arousal and joy and a tiny bit embarrassment that he even sees himself fucking a stranger in a public toilette. A hookup, not even knowing her name and she lifts her skirt and pulls her panties aside to let Danny glide into her wet, hot pussy. Jesus!
I mean, what the hell? (I love Danny’s wet spots under his armpits on his shirt after the sex, that's a great detail.)
The absolute cutest thing happens afterward. Danny has never done this before..just savor this...Danny has never fucked a stranger in a bathroom. He’s not so adventurous and this all-in now or never guy and it shows a tiny bit in the way of his movements which aren't all that confident, just a tiny bit insecure but the desire is there, burning like a wildfire. I mean the red-kissed, sore skin on the sexy brunette’s throat makes my knees go weak.
We know how Danny approaches his women, not like this. He's very much hesitant, insecure, shy, careful, cautious that this event right there with Miss Sexy-and-Brunette?? This renders me damn speechless. Wow! I'm sure Danny calls her (the unknown, sexy woman he just had sex with) Vivienne in his head. I see him whispering hot nonsense in her ear while he comes inside her, and her eyes grab his gaze and lock on. She's so damn self-confident. Who had the condom? That had to be Miss Sexy. I really don't think Danny plans such an act on purpose. He has never done this before!! And he's a bit shaken from his courage and he's so damn sexy with this touch of shyness and the way he speaks to her afterward, coaxing her into giving her a lift…wow, man, Danny's such a hot a stud when he sets his passion loose!
I have no idea if they had had a chance for a relationship. It wasn't the question anyway. But Miss Sexy-and-Brunette is from the East Coast, she loves Jersey, she gets movie/baseball/football (?) quotes. She knows 'Romeo's'…she's such a great gal and I literally can see Danny falling in love iwith her just because she so very different compared to his previous women. She's a wild one and I'm not so sure if Danny could have handled her. Really, I'm not so sure. But she sounds perfect.
Everything that happens afterward seems to be fate, just bad luck, even if it kills you as a viewer, you can't turn back the clock. It's so terribly heartbreaking and this strong, incredible woman dies without telling Danny her name. She's outstanding and a tough she-warrior till the end. She fought so hard, she was so brave and everything...but it wasn't enough. God, I cried for both of them.
Danny had the hottest adventure in the morning because of her, Miss Sexy-and-Brunette and because of her asking him questions about his life Danny came up with some damn honest answers.
For example, Danny told her that Hawaii isn't the worst place to be. He said 'Hawaii 'grows on you'. Or when 'Vivienne' asks about Danny's reason for being in that bar and he answers the reason might be his ex-wife. And Rachel comes up and we get to know that Danny and she tried to make it work and they failed, again. As Danny said, they're better off as friends. So, Rachel's out of the picture. Hopefully forever.
But Life has other plans and this wonderful, sexy morning turns in another haunting, dark, life-sucking event. Danny relives a terrible nightmare – the one where his partner Grace got shot, that day 9/11, right next to him and he couldn't save her. It happens again that a woman dies in his hands. The circumstances are brutal. Danny has experienced paradise and heaven, love and passion, despair and bone-deep grief within hours. He's a mess. He can't deal with anything at the moment. He had it, this spark and it's gone, forever lost, seconds later.
And what’s with Steve? There's also some heavy shifting on the emotional side happening. He opens up to his ohana and we get some deep insights into his heart and his well-guarded feelings because of Eddie. He's honest with the vet-lady and it hurts my heart to know his job always comes first like as if he has no idea how to create a personal life. He would want a relationship with someone, but he can't fit it into his life and the vet-lady wasn't as important as it had to be to make it happen.
In the end, Danny and Steve are single again. They try hard to make things work, but it's not happening. Steve needs Eddie to get through his days and his ohana is always there for him. It breaks my heart how much everyone loves Eddie. Eddie has gone through the same war terror as Steve and neither of them came out sane and healthy. Both of them carry a heavy, invisible burden and that ties the bond between them even tighter.
Steve is going to break down when he gets to know what happened to Danny while he was hat home. God, he’s going to be a mess, too.
At the end of the day, Steve will do everything in his power to be there for Danny. They end up sitting on the couch, leaning into each other and helping one another to get through this mess that is life and love. But they always have each other. Danny lives at Steve's, Danny's single again, Steve's also single and one day, I'm sure of it, one day they stop being so stubborn and they will kiss and snuggle on the couch and they know they'll grow old together because they love each other deeply and uniquely.
There are so many more details. But again, let’s stop here. Thanks so much for reading!
Season 10 is quite outstanding. Great episode. It was poetic, sad, heartbreaking cinema.

You were already home, recreating the scenario which took place a few hours ago. Luckily he didn't go after you but how could he. Maybe he didn't even recognize you at all.
He was with his son, being all happy with him as if nothing had ever happened. Why would something like that bother him anyways, it was planned so it probably never hurt him as much as it hurt you.
Walking into your bedroom, you pulled out some clothes of your luggage. You changed yourself into something comfortable as you laid down on your bed. Even though you were hungry you couldn't eat anything. Whenever you saw something edible on your way home, you felt your stomach aching and hurting as if someone stabbed you.
If his son is here it means that he and his family isn't far away. When did they move here again? Did he even recognize you? He was so quiet and shocked, it was impossible for him to not recognize you.
But why didn't he approach you? Was he feeling guilty, ashamed or just surprised that he saw you again? You sighed as you watched the white ceiling, completely lost in thoughts. He was the last person you expected to meet again, and why the heck was it him? After seeing Junho, you weren't sure if you should accept the job offer. In fact, you weren't really sure about teaching in that certain school where his son was. To be honest, you wouldn't even see Taehyung at all. According to your calculations, his son must've been in first grade and you did apply for English teaching which every elementary school begins at grade four. It was impossible to meet him again, and if it was the case then you planned to leave without exchanging any words with him. That's the least you could do because you came here to follow your heart and dreams and he certainly shouldn't be a barrier for you.
Suddenly the doorbell rang, bringing you back to reality as you started wondering who it could be. Nobody knew you were here and you merely had any contact with anyone you knew since you left.
What if ... Hopefully, it's not him. But it can't be him because he wouldn't make any effort to get to you. It's impossible.
You walked up to the door, your hand surrounding the cold metal of the doorknob as you closed your eyes. Of course, it wasn't him but just in case if it really was him, you wanted to be prepared. With a long sigh, you pushed the doorknob and pulled the door open.
"S-Seokjin?" You muttered being surprised that he showed up in front of your door even though you didn't tell him about your return.
"You're back and you didn't tell me?! Wow Y/N I thought we had a better relationship" he laughed as he suddenly opened his arms. You didn't know why but seeing him made you lose all of your senses. Your emotions acted first when you started to cry as your arms surrounded his waist, hugging him tightly. Was it tears over joy or tears you longed for being cried off in someone's arms? He was the last connection to what happened to you. He was like a brother to you. He was family. After your wedding day he never left you alone, in fact, he was the sweetest and most caring person for you in your hard times. Making sure, that you won't let yourself down easily.
He surely was surprised by your action but he embraced you without saying any words. Knowing, that you were a very fragile person, he let you cry off until he broke the silence.
"I didn't expect you to feel that happy about me visiting you. I can leave if my presence makes you cry-" he let out a sarcastically chuckle when you hit his chest getting an 'ouch' from him. You leaned back and watched him rubbing his chest as if you hurt him too much.
"I am happy that you came" he smiled at your words, staring around the door as he bit his lip.
"Can I come in now? It's cold and I am freezing" he said, chuckling softly as you nodded immediately.
"I just came here yesterday, so sorry if anything is dirty" you smiled as he nodded. He sat on the ground because you threw away the old couch. You wanted to design your living room newly. You went into the kitchen which was connected to the living room, there was no door or wall dividing the two rooms.
"How did you know that I returned?" You asked curiously as you pulled out two cups and boiled water in order to make tea.
"I came across your landlord and he told me that you moved to your flat again. I was surprised but sad that you didn't tell me" he said, trying to make himself comfortable on the ground. He glanced up at you, watching you preparing the tea.
"I am hurt" he pouted when you approached him with the cups of tea. You giggled at his expressions.
"You're an adult you should stop pouting" he chuckled as the words left your lips.
"So, how are you doing so far?" He asked hesitantly, staring right into your face to make sure that you don't feel uncomfortable at all.
"I am good" you lied not mentioning the encounter with Taehyung. It would just bother him as much as it bothered you. Before he asked other questions you bombarded him with yours.
"What about you? Did you finally find your dream girl?" You asked while smiling widely, remembering him fantasizing about his dream girl years ago. He always waited for the perfect moment and didn't let time ruin his future because he truly believed in destinies magic. Suddenly his eyes lit up and his cheeks flushed with a shade of pink.
"Don't tell me you-" your eyes widened as your mouth dropped wide open. You started getting excited about the idea of him being in a relationship.
"Well, I did." He said not bothering to look at you since he felt flustered. You sat down across him and grabbed his shoulders.
"Boy! I am so happy! Who is that freaking lucky lady?" You started thinking about the girls who Seokjin knew.
"Ahran" he started "Jo Ah Ran" you tried your best to match a familiar face with the name but couldn't. "I've met her last year. It's impossible for you to know her. But she is so kind-hearted and beautiful-" you cut him off by placing your hand on his lips.
"You have to introduce us to each other," you said sincerely and he nodded. Your heart felt at ease and you embraced him tightly. "I am so happy for you!"
He leaned back and stood up. "I have to go now but call me whenever you need anything. Let's also catch up together sometime" he smiled as he helped you stand up, taking your hand and pulling you up.
"That would be awesome," you said while opening the door. It was really cold and you couldn't wait to close the door to run into your room and bury yourself under your blankets to warm up. You were happy about Seokjins visit. He was always the one who surprised you. Finally, he found someone and hopefully he won't let her go.
After your meal, you made yourself comfortable on the couch where you fell asleep. - The next morning you were woken up by the sound of your phone. You opened your eyes and tried to get comfortable with the light which totally blended you. The ringing didn't go off. With that, you were supposed to answer the call. Taking all your strength you got out of bed where you took your phone and answered it without looking at the caller ID.
"Hello" you roughly answered, your voice sounding lower than usual.
"Good Morning. Is this Y/N?" the female voice asked as you nodded, and also facepalmed yourself for your silliness.
"Yes. How can I help you?"
"It's Mrs Lee calling-" when she said her name your eyes flashed open and you got out of the couch. "We know that our reply is pretty early but we are in need of teachers since many leave due to illness or pregnancy. We decided to accept your application and are happy to greet you on Monday for your first day" she said. You couldn't tell if you were happy or surprised. Pressing your lips together, you prevented yourself from screaming.
"Ms Y/N? Are you there?" Again you started nodding but laughing immediately at your second mistake.
"Yes! O my god, this totally made my day! I am so glad that you chose me and of course I am excited for Monday" you said without pausing once. You heard a slight chuckle on the other side of the phone.
"Be there at 7am. Have a nice weekend." Mrs Lee hung up and suddenly you screamed from your lungs. It was perfect. Even though you applied so early you didn't expect them to take you in so fast and easily. It was only two days left until Monday and you couldn't wait for what will happen and literally counted the days until it was Monday. Time passed by and it was already Monday, your first day. You were pretty nervous because you never had any interactions with kids. You always worked with adults who wanted to learn English.
Suddenly you remembered. Except for Junho, who was in first grade at the elementary school, you got accepted in. A slight regret came up in your mind and you were afraid that you have to see him every day. No, it's impossible because you applied to teach English in fourth grade, so hopefully, you won't be able to see him any day. You left the house early to catch your bus, seeing snow falling down on the ground was making you happy. It was in the middle of November and it already snowed so much which made you pretty excited about Christmas which wasn't far away. Getting off the bus you went to the school seeing the children getting dropped off by their parents. Before going into the staff room you knocked on the door. When you opened the door you were greeted by smiling but also tired faces. You went in and stood in front of them as all eyes landed on you.
"Hello, my name is Y/N and I am the new English teacher" you bowed down and grinned looking into the crowd. They said that they had a lack of teachers when in fact the room was full. All of them greeted you nicely as they showed you your own desk where you could work in your free time. It was still early and the first lesson would begin at 8am. You sat down on the chair next to your desk. Right next to you was a man who was smiling at you.
His hands were under his chin staring at you admiringly somehow. His blonde hair was looking messy but still very good. The smile on his face was so wide, it made his eyes disappear. Somehow your heart jumped once you stared into his face, making you smile at him yourself.
"I am Jimin. Park Jimin" he greeted you while he pulled out his arm, offering his hand. You nicely took it and shook it in a friendly way.
"Y/N" you told him while he nodded knowingly. You mentally rolled your eyes because you just told him your name even though you introduced yourself a couple minutes ago. He chuckled, sitting down while he stared at you confused.
"So, umm?" He started "you can let go of my hand," he said a little surprised that you didn't let go.
"Huh? Me? I am sorry" you muttered, feeling the nervousness growing inside you. You pulled your hand out of his grip fast, hitting the cup of coffee which landed on his desk where many documents became wet.
"Oh shit- I am so so sorry" you couldn't believe yourself, by being so clumsy on your first day. Immediately, you tried to clean the desk and the documents when he stopped you by holding your wrist.
"It's okay," he said while letting go of your hands "they weren't important anyway" he chuckled and put his hands in his pockets. You smiled awkwardly.
"I'm sorry," you told him again.
"It's okay..." he smiled as he took his bag because the bell was about to ring.
"I will pay you back the coffee," you said.
"No need to" he grinned as he thought about something "do you have any plans for lunch?" He asked hesitantly, biting his lip as you shook your head.
"Let's drink some coffee together" he clarified and turned his shoulders to make his leave. Nonetheless, something came up in his mind as he stopped.
"It's on you" he chuckled and the soft sound of his voice was making you smile. Well, hopefully, you will get to know many teachers and make friends fast.
"Ms Y/N" you turned our head to look at Mrs Lee and standing up to greet her.
"I already told you that we lack teachers so you have to take classes in first grade as well. You will teach in 4th grade and in 1st grade as long as we hire new teachers, is that okay for you?" She asked and you were only a little shocked.
"But why me? I mean I'm new here... wouldn't it be easier to choose experienced teachers?-" you didn't know what to teach them because you only applied for teaching English.
"Don't worry. It's really easy what they do in first grade. It's only based on learning Hangeul. I am pretty sure that you can endure it for a couple months until we hire someone new. If you need any help you can ask Jimin since he has been teaching in first grade for many years now." She smiles giving in your schedule which was written on a piece of paper. Your first lesson was in first grade which made you pretty nervous. You weren't prepared for them and you didn't know how to start the lesson. Seriously, they could have told you earlier. You packed your belongings and went out of the room to search for the number of the room. The bell had rung already. Finally, you found the room and waited for a little. Come one Y/N they're only first graders they won't eat you. You rolled your eyes and went in as fast as you could, leaving your belongings on the desk which was in front of everyone's seat. The children were pretty quiet.
"Oh? That's the new teacher" a little kid yelled, with a familiar accent. You turned your head and searched for the voice, feeling the anxiety growing bigger when you finally spotted him in the last row. Just as other students started staring at him he looked at the ground, probably scolding himself in his thoughts for being so loud.
Junho.
He smiled widely at you while your expressions were pretty shocked. Still, you gave him a weak smile. All of the first graders stood up at your presence and bowed while greeting you.
"Hello. I am your new teacher Ms Y/L/N" you felt your hands getting sweaty because you couldn't look another way than to Junho. He was still smiling at you. You sat on your desk and tried to look elsewhere but your eyes wandered to him since his face was too similar with the face of his father. "I introduced myself and know it's your turn. Tell me about everything you like or not, your hobbies, just anything you want to say. How about we start with you?" You pointed at the girl in the first row. She stood up.
"Hello. My name is Lee Hyejin and I am 6 years old-" she started and went on with her hobbies. You were listening to all while focusing on their words and gestures while taking notes because you liked to get to know your students. Some of them liked playing basketball and the others enjoyed playing instruments or playing with their friend. Your heart stopped beating when it was Junho's turn. He cleared his throat feeling all eyes on him as he stood up from his chair, face down, watching his fidgety fingers.
"My name is Kim Junho and I am 6 years old-" he nearly whispered and stopped in the middle of his sentence when someone yelled "I can't hear you" you furrowed your eyebrows as he suddenly sat down again, the anxiety growing bigger. The other children were laughing and chuckling at his actions.
"Stop it!" You suddenly yelled, getting angry at the behavior of first graders. Junho stood up, his face was still staring at the ground while he ran off.
"Junho!" You called for him but he was already gone. With furrowed eyebrows, you stared at the children in front of you. "That wasn't nice of you. If I come back with Junho I expect all of you to apologize" you said getting angry as if it was your own child. You started looking for him everywhere. The toilet, the playground, other rooms which weren't closed. Where the hell did he go? Did he go home? Your eyes widened and you ran as fast as you can outside. As you exited the gate you saw him kneeling down the way you saw him last week.
The sound of his sobs was filling the air and you felt how your heart broke into pieces. You could feel the anxiety and sorrow in his cries. Slowly, you approached him, pulling out your hand to caress his hair. Just as your hand was about to touch his hair, you stopped, hesitated first but pulled your hand back. You kneeled down on his level, as you stared at him.
"Let's go inside Junho" you murmured putting your hand on his knee.
"I don't wanna go inside. I don't like any of them! I just want to go home" he said, not looking up while he still kept sobbing.
"But why-" he cut you off.
"Everyone is laughing at me. They make fun of me when I start talking. I always get so shy and nervous when I talk in front of a crowd and all of them mock me for talking so slow and quiet." he cried, turning around to you as he surprised you with surrounding his arms around your neck to hug you. Your eyes widened and you did not know how to react at all. You just let him cry his eyes out in your arms. The scent of his hair went up to your nose and suddenly your mind drifted off to an image of Taehyung in front of you. Your heart felt at ease and your throat got sore. Suddenly, you were about to tear up as well. He wasn't in front of you but his smell made you feel like he was here with you. He was just looking like his father.
You leaned back to wipe away his tears as you recognized the eyes and the plump lips of his father. Even the mole which Taehyung has on his nose was on the same spot of Junho's nose. Still, you were surprised that Junho opened up even though he didn't know you at all.
"It's okay..." you whispered not sure about what to tell him. You were actually a good listener and gave quite good tips when it came to problems with your friends and family. But you weren't sure what to tell a little boy who was crying his eyeballs out.
"When I was your age I was whispering a lot because I was pretty shy and because people were making fun of me, I was quiet. It was the worst decision I've ever made because even today I find myself in situations where I can't really talk because I'm afraid that people will laugh at me. If only I stood up for myself back then, my problems today would be easy to deal with. But you know what I did? I was like 'hey y/n what are you doing, you're gonna ruin your life because of some stupid people making fun of you? They're just jealous or have problems in accepting themselves and their flaws'. That made me who I am today. You should accept your flaws and if you do then you can work on your flaws to turn them into your strength. You should never let anyone tell you otherwise. It's okay if you still struggle but never feel sorry for your flaws. Accept them because you're perfect. You're still young don't let any bully be a barrier for you. Alright?" You were surprised by your wise words and had to smile. Somehow you were proud of yourself.
To be honest you missed Junho so much. Even though you only knew him a year you were always taking care of him. He was a lovable boy who didn't deserve to be treated like this. Just because his parents made a mistake doesn't mean that you have to cut Junho from your life as well. You will be his teacher and as a teacher, it's your duty to take care of children and not only teach them. You wondered if his parents knew about his struggles. "Thank you" he sniffed and hugged you again.
"Do you want to go home today?" You asked but he shook his head.
"No, I will come back to class" you smiled proudly when you helped him stand up. In fact, you were freezing because it was so cold. You both went in and got into the classroom. The children were surprised because they didn't expect you to return with him. He sat down at his place while you gave him a thumbs up. Of course, he wouldn't change immediately but you hoped that you gave him a little courage to finally open up. You stood in front of the class, waiting for his classmates to apologize but everyone stood quiet.
"I don't hear you," you said putting a hand in front of your ear and suddenly everyone screamed as if they sang in a choir. "I am sorry" the little smile on Junho's face made you happy. You started the lesson after everyone else who was left introduced themselves.
__
Time passed in a fast way and you found yourself remembering about your little lunch payment for - what was his name? Right! Jimin. You bought some coffee and brought it into the staff room. When he saw you he took his jacket.
"Can we go?" He asked when you furrowed your eyebrows.
"What do you mean?" you gave him his coffee and he chuckled at your behavior. He looked at the cup and sat down again.
"Nevermind" he smiled as he put his jacket back and sat down on his chair. You couldn't think of what he was referring to. Suddenly a slight knock came from the door. "Come in" you yelled and a young man came in.
"Pizza for Y/N" he said and you pushed your arms to the air.
"Mine" the smell of pizza was making you so happy and excited. You paid him and took the two boxes out of his hands. Smelling on the two boxes you went to Jimin who was looking at you questioningly. You sat in front of him an opened the boxes. The sight of pizza was literally reason enough for your salvia coming out of your mouth.
"Enjoy the meal" you chuckled while he gave you an amused look.
"You're eating pizza for lunch?" even though he was asking, he took a slice and bit it. You nodded as you took a slice yourself.
"Actually not every day but today is such a cold day and I didn't want to leave the building. We can order food easily why making any effort in getting them" he laughed at your statement.
"So Jimin tell me something about yourself" you started and he was a little surprised but started off. He moved here a couple of years ago and studied to become a teacher. He told you about loving kids and wanting to help them to make improvements for their future. He was a nice guy actually and you could tell that he was pretty attractive. You were happy about the idea of you two becoming friends. And that was what you guys did. Over a couple of weeks, you learned a lot from him. He helped you a lot with your schedule and also with decorating your little flat. You weren't colleagues anymore, you two became good friends and it was a great idea that you could rely on someone. He was handsome, no protest to that but you still liked the fact that he was only your friend better than any other thoughts. You never saw such a humble man in your life. It felt like he owned the world, he was so careless, had no problems, no worries and just lived his life and dream. It was fascinating.
Parent's day.
You were looking at the flyer in your hand.
"What is this?" You asked Jimin.
"Parent's day is a day where parents come to our school," he said smiling, you rolled your eyes and waited for him to continue.
"It's a day, well actually an evening where parents visit our school when they have time to talk with the homeroom teachers about their children. You just have to keep them on update and that's it. They also sell cake" he was licking his lips which made you roll your eyes again. You hit his head as he let out a sigh.
"When is it?" you asked him.
"This Friday" he said as you nodded your head.
You didn't teach much in Junho's class since your first day. It was three times a week and the rest was scheduled. You saw him pretty often and he always came up to you when he saw you. It was incredible that you had good chemistry between yourselves. He was too cute and humble just like his father. Sometimes he would even give you small presents like drawings or he would leave chewing gum or candy as gifts on your desk. It was adorable. You were happy about the fact that you didn't meet Taehyung or Somin even though their son was your student. You wondered if Junho told them anything about you.
The poor boy still didn't overcome his fear and you helped him a lot with bullies. He still has problems and gets bullied but when you see any bully you scold them and talk to Junho. You wondered if his parents knew anything about his struggles. Anything, but you totally wanted to avoid meeting them in any way. Everything was going pretty well. You gained a new friend and the best thing about this was that he works with you. You even met up with Seokjins girlfriend. It was all perfect and without any worries until Friday came up.
You were talking to the last parent for Fridays evening. It was already 8 pm and you wanted to go home and rest a couple of hours. When you heard that Junho's parents won't be attending you offered to talk to the parents of your first graders. When the last parent left you packed your documents and stood up. You stretched your arms because you literally sat on the chair for more than an hour and your butt was aching as well. You yawned loudly and took your bag when suddenly someone knocked on the door. You already completed the list, did you forget someone? The person came in.
"I am so sorry. I thought I couldn't come because of my schedule but I rescheduled it. I hope I'm not too late" the men exclaimed without pausing once. At that moment you two made eye contact. His gaze met yours and went into a shocking expression.
"Y-Y/N?" He nearly whispered. Your heart fell from its place and your eyes widened. Surprised about him being here. Your heart started beating faster and suddenly, you felt the warm air surrounding you. You two didn't move one inch from your place. Taehyung. Kim Taehyung was standing in front of you. You sight went blur and you knew that you had tears in your eyes, immediately you looked away. No, no way you will let him see you in your weakest position. You inhaled in and pressed your eyes together. He was here. Don't show any weakness. You changed. You're a new person. You thought.
"It's okay Mr. Kim. Have a seat" you said formally, trying to sound as professional as you could. He was startled by your words but he took the offer, sitting down. You felt how shaky and sweaty your hands were while you took out the documents again as if nothing happened. You didn't dare to look into his eyes.
"Kim Junho. Y-your s-son-" you literally wanted to punch your face when you stuttered and paused. Suddenly he laid his hand on yours which startled you. His hands were so warm and you literally wanted them to hold onto your hands longer but you couldn't.
"So, it was really you that day" his voice cracked. You had to pull yourself together. With force, you pulled your hand out of his, glancing up at him.
"Y/N-" you cut him off, sending him your glare.
"You came here to talk about your son, please listen" but again he cut you off.
"Please let's talk" he was so frustrated it made you angry.
"There is nothing to talk about ok! You're here for your son, stop being so selfish" you actually talked with your mind, not with your heart. It was all mixed up because of him. Your anger was growing the more he talked.
"Now that I caught you I want to talk to you-" you stood up and packed your belongings, not looking at him anymore.
"Listen here Mr if you want to talk about personal issues you should call a therapist because I'm a teacher and stop bothering me" you were about to leave when he grabbed your wrist. You turned to him, trying to pull yourself out from his grip.
"Let me go!" You tried to free yourself but he was stronger than you, holding your wrist forcefully,
"I won't until you give me a chance to talk to you," he said being desperate while he tried making contact with your eyes. You sighed out of frustration. How many times does he want to break your heart again? How many times will he walk on the pieces which broke because of him?
"Taehyung! I don't have anything to talk about with you. Just leave" he shook his head but you finally freed yourself from his hands. You were walking to the door while he stared at your desk where you've left your keys. Suddenly, he grabbed them and ran up to the door, closing and locking it while holding the keys in his hand, firmly. He turned to you, staring at you with desperation.
"Are you serious?" You deadly glared up at him. You knew for sure that you would cry whenever he would start to talk. He just stood there quietly and looked at you. Him not saying anything made you even angrier. Your eyes shot up at him as you sighed loudly.
"You won't leave my side until you tell me everything, right? If that makes you happy, I will listen" you chuckled in a sarcastic way to cover up your cracking voice. You didn't know why you gave in but you had no chance than to listen. To be honest you were curious as well. Curious about what he wanted to tell you, what excuses he and most importantly how he was going to defend himself. He was trying to find words to start with but he failed. Your impatience grew and you let out another loud sigh.
"Are going to start or should I leave?" You asked, your voice sounding surprisingly calm. He shut his eyes as he breathed in deeply only to step closer. Once he opened his eyes, he pulled out his hands to reach out for your arms.
"Stop coming for me. Just stop it." He was really surprised because he didn't expect you to act that cold. He still had the shy Y/N in his memories and you not being all quirky in front of him made him realize again that he made a huge mistake.
"How dare you to come after me? I can't believe you" you whispered but he still heard. His silence was making you go insane and every feeling you had on that awful day was coming back. It was eating you up. Even though he wasn't talking, you made up his excuses in your mind.
"What did you think? Did you think that you will come after me gently, look into my eyes, talk sweetly to me and I will forget everything? Did you really think that easy of it?" He was still silent. His stare was glued to the ground and it irritated you that he wanted to talk but no words were coming out of his lips.
"What the hell did you think about?!" You yelled suddenly. Your loud voice was making him more nervous but he still remained the same. Eventually, he stared up at you but still avoided meeting your eyes. You rolled your eyes and tried to take the keys no matter where they laid. It didn't matter as long as you could leave. He didn't let you take them anyways.
"Give me back my keys" you demanded, holding out your hand.
"You really want to run away from me? Is that what you want? Huh?" He started fixing his gaze in yours. Your mouth dropped open and you furrowed your eyebrows.
"What the? You freaking lied to me for months. Wait! Not only you but your family and my fucking best friend as well. You fooled me. All of you." you pointed at him, stepping back as you let out a sad chuckle.
"I was so dumb, you probably made fun of me, right?" you asked, your voice being brittle as the tears came up on their own once your voice cracked.
"You let your own ex-become a huge part of our life without me knowing. You let me do anything for that little boy who was your son! I had no idea! Nobody told me! It wasn't freaking you who opened up to me. No! Instead, you humiliated me on my precious day. The day I hate and detest to most" you wiped away the tears, shutting your eyes and turning around. You walked up to your desk as you heard his footsteps walking closer to you.
"Everything has an explanation" he exclaimed being surprisingly calm. You laughed sarcastically, turning around to push him away only to run up to the door which was still closed. You wanted to escape this room, no matter how. Your anger literally wanted you to kick the door open.
"Yah! I still have an explanation." Taehyung clarified as he turned around to you as well, watching you how you were trying to open the door. You kicked the door and he started yelling, not minding that he actually was in a public school.
"Even for the worst crime the accused has the privilege of self-defense." He yelled, pointing his finger at you. At that moment you kicked the door with your feet the last time as you turned around furiously to run up at him.
"What do you have to say, huh? How the hell are you going to defend yourself?! What do you expect me to say, huh? Come on let us live happily together because you told me everything. Fuck!" At that moment your worst fear happened. You cried in front of him. Awfully and hurt. It wasn't just tears but your voice cracking, your shoulders shifting.
"I was in pain while you finished your plan successfully" you started laughing as you clapped your hands.
"Congratulations. I am so happy that you ran off with my best friend. I am so happy that you never trusted me-" you wanted to go on but he cut you off suddenly.
"You weren't the only one in pain!" You felt the anger boiling inside of you and you grabbed his collar furiously.
"What the hell? I was in pain you asshole! You know what? That might sound ridiculous but, sometimes I thought about you feeling the same pain as me but that was just so impossible. You had a son and you never told me about him-" you mumbled, biting your lip to prevent yourself from crying further.
"I hate you Kim Taehyung." you gritted your teeth at him, furrowing your eyebrows at him. "You disgust me! Screw you!" you started hitting his chest multiple times as he tried to hold your hands.
"I hate you so much" you mumbled within many sobs, staring up to look into his eyes.
"You gave a damn about my love for you," you said, your voice cracking, "Why did you have to come into my life? Why did you still hold onto my hands when you knew that you would throw me away?" you cried into his arms. Finally, he talked again, reaching out for your face as he tried to cup them.
"I swear to go, I only saw Somin again after you introduced me to her. Believe me, I seriously had no idea that the situation would take such a turn. Please let me explain-" you cut him off while pushing him back.
"You still had to tell me even before our wedding. We were in a relationship and you had to tell me! When did you ever saw me getting jealous over anything? Have you ever seen me acting irrationally because of my feelings for you? You had to tell me Taehyung! But why didn't you?" you calmed down, stepping back slowly as you glanced up at him.
"You know why and I know too. We both know the answers! Its because you felt guilty and your feelings for her never faded." you pointed to his chest being calm, inhaling the air which you lacked.
"You never loved me. I was just a replacement, right?" he shook his head and tried to come for you, again.
"Please hear me out" again you pushed him away, looking to the side and shutting your eyes. You didn't want to look at him anymore.
"Please, Taehyung just leave. I don't want to talk to you anymore. You don't owe me any explanation because you never felt sorry for what you did to me or else you wouldn't humiliate me on my wedding day" you nodded to yourself, still having your eyes shut.
"Just go," you said calmly, closing your eyes and having an arm raised in his direction to prevent him from reaching out for you. You heard a loud sigh and quiet steps which were leading to the door. The sound of keys unlocking the door filled the air but you still had your eyes closed.
"This isn't the way it's ending Y/N. I won't let you go until I finally told you everything. That is not our ending" with that he left the room, leaving you completely confused and frustrated. Once the door was shut you opened your eyes again.

ThorBruce AU
Pain
Changed canon- Loki does not cause the battle of New York, it’s all Thanos.
Everyone is born with two letters on their wrist- the initials of their soulmate. Not every soulmate is a romantic partner, many are best friends, the kind you want to spend every waking moment with, and when you are apart you feel as if you’ll never be happy again until you are in their presence. Most are the same age, born days, weeks, or a few months apart. Rarer are the pairings in which the soulmate in question isn’t even a thought. Even rarer yet are when soulmates are decades or centuries apart in age.
Thor, the Asgardian prince, would live over a thousand years before his soulmate, a Midgardian by the name of Bruce would be born. It would be longer still until they met while saving the world from an alien attack.
8-year-old Thor snuggled into bed as he begged his Mum to tell a story. “About the soulmates, Mummy!” he thought to his own mark, displaying the initials “RB”. He wondered what their name was, what they looked like, when he would meet them and on what Realm…
“Well, Thor,” Frigga began. “Since the beginning of time, there have been soulmates, whose souls were torn apart during the Big Bang that created the Nine Realms. Every being ever born had and will have a soulmate. My soulmate is your Father, yours is RB, Loki’s is GM. You will know when you have met them because you will be engulfed in light and your marks will change color to match their favorite hue. After you meet, you will feel their pain, albeit muted.”
Thor smiled, dreaming of the day he gets to meet RB.
Bruce Banner was born Rebecca Alice Banner in 1969, a little over 1,000 years after his soulmate. From a young age, he never felt right in his body, leading to him declaring he was a boy at age 12.
“What the fuck do you mean you’re a boy?” Brian Banner screamed that night. “This TO man on your wrist isn’t going to want to be mated to a faggot. God damn it, Rebecca, I won’t raise a tranny!” Brian hit Bruce over the head, knocking the pre-teen unconscious.
When the young boy awoke, he cried, knowing his father would never accept him. Why would Brian? All Bruce had known was abuse from the alcoholic, hell, Brian had killed Bruce’s mother in front of him just a few months prior. Bruce knew if his mom was still alive, she would accept him, she had always been kind and accepting of the “Queers” he saw on television sometimes. Bruce knew he was a queer, liking boys while he knew deep inside, he was one as well. He knew TO was a man as well, although how old, he didn’t know.
“When will I be king?” the now almost-grown Thor asked Odin. He was physically a grown man. Hel, even his little brother was in his late adolescent years and Thor was 500 years older than Loki!
“When you meet your soulmate, my boy,” Odin grumbled, becoming used to the question being asked from both of his sons. Hela had asked when she would be Queen, as well. At one point she had taken the thrown forcefully, only to be banished. Odin was thankful he had raised his sons to be peaceful rather than seek war. Or at least he thought he had until Thor went to Jotunheim to fight the Frost Giants that had interrupted his coronation.
Odin was to be entering Odinsleep soon, so he temporarily named the boy King, even though neither boy had met his soulmate. Truth be told, Odin had put it off so long that he was afraid the stress would kill him, but he could not force either boy to meet their soulmate. A temporary arrangement would be enough. Until Thor disobeyed him.
“Damn it, boy! This is why I put this off for so long! You are a foolish, cruel, vain boy!” Odin screamed when he rescued Thor from Jotunheim.
“And you are an old man and a fool!” Thor retorted.
“You are unworthy! Unworthy of the crown, of your power,” Odin cried as he stripped Thor of his Asgardian strength. “I hereby banish you to Midgard!” Odin hoped Thor would meet his soulmate on Midgard. He set upon two terms to end his banishment- either Thor gets over his selfishness, or he meets his soulmate.
After Bruce left home in 1990, he immediately began transitioning. The twenty-year-old scraped together enough money to start hormones, get his breasts removed, and change his name to Robert Bruce Banner. He knew his soulmate would be looking for an RB, so he reluctantly kept the R initial. He had gone by Bruce at school since he entered senior high. Then, he poured himself into his studies, earning seven Ph.D.’s- in Gamma radiation, sexual health, astrophysics, Nuclear physics, philosophy, biochemistry, and medicine.
Bruce had taken up a teaching job at Culver University as Professor of Biochemistry. After the 9/11 attacks, he dedicated his life to helping others, which led him to be recruited by Thaddeus Ross. Unfortunately, it had the side effect of turning the young scientist into what became known as Hulk.
While Bruce had once, and still, hated himself because he was born female, he now hated himself because he turned into a green rage monster if he got angry. He went on the run, sacrificing his testosterone for his safety. Eventually, he was found, but not before he attempted suicide to rid himself of the monster. Looking back, Bruce was thankful he had failed, knowing TO would never forgive himself if Bruce had died before they met.
Years later, after Bruce got back on T, although still on the run from the military, he was focused on providing medical care for others, deciding that even if he could turn into Hulk, he could use his normal, less-of-a-freak self for good rather than the destruction Hulk brought.
Thor didn’t meet his soulmate- in fact, RB was on the other side of the country, but he proved himself worthy by sacrificing himself to save his friends on Midgard.
“Did you meet RB?” Loki asked excitedly when Thor returned.
“What do you think, brother?” Thor snapped, shoving the still black letters to Loki’s face. “Did you meet GM yet?”
“Nay, though I hope I meet them soon, I’m tired of being a child by Asgardian terms,”
“Loki, as the Midgardians see it, you’re a child there too. I am barely an adult. If RB would hurry up and enter my life, that would be grand!”
“I am sure we will meet our soulmates soon. Now, guess what our dear father bestowed upon me during your absence! I am Jotun! Yeah, I know! He picked me up as a babe, but hey, I can do ice magic now!”
A few months after Thor’s banishment ended, he and Loki were sent on a quest to Midgard because a group called The Black Order were planning on stealing the Tesseract.
“Perhaps you’ll meet your soulmate!” Loki cheered as they departed from the Bifrost. “We are long overdue, us being over a thousand years old.”
“What about you, dear brother? Don’t you want to meet GM?”
“Yes, Thor, we all want to meet our soulmates. But, let’s face it, you’re older, you are going to inherit the throne first. You proved your worthiness, I haven’t, even if we have not met our soulmates.”
Bruce was pissed. He had been whisked off from India, where he was doing good for once in his life, back to the United States, back to New York, to find this Tesseract thing. But Bruce knew better. This SHIELD organization just wanted to experiment on Hulk, they always did. Why couldn’t Bruce have been born into a loving family, as a boy, and not turn into a monster?
“H-Hey I’m Bruce Banner,” Bruce stuttered when the quinjet landed and he met the team he would be working with: Tony Stark, Nick Fury, Phil Coulson, Erik Selvig, the Norse Gods Thor and Loki, Steve Rogers, Clint Barton, and Natasha Romanoff.
God damn, Thor thought when he laid eyes on Bruce. That guy is stunning!
“Good to meet you, Dr. Banner,” Tony said as he shook Bruce’s hand. I hope that wasn’t weak. “Your work on anti-electron collisions is unparalleled, and I’m a huge fan of the way you lose control and turn into an enormous green rage monster.”
“Thanks,” Bruce replied sarcastically. At least no one here cared, or hopefully even knew he was trans.
“Dr. Banner is only here to track the cube,” called Fury. Thank you! “I was hoping you might join him.”
Captain Rogers spoke up. “Let’s start with that stick of his, Thanos I mean. It’s magical but it works an awful lot like a HYDRA weapon.”
“I don’t know about that, but it is powered by the cube. And I’d like to know how Thanos turned two of our sharpest men into his personal flying monkeys.”
“Monkeys?” Thor questioned. Bruce wondered. TO? Could that stand for Thor, Son of Odin, or Odinson?
“I understood that reference!” Steve smiled, while Tony rolled his eyes at the recently defrosted Soldier.
However, before Bruce could test his Soulmate theory, Tony whisked him away to do research.
Thor decided to do research on Dr. Banner and found out his first name was actually Robert. “Loki! I think Dr. Banner is RB! Look, his first name is Robert!” he cheered.
“Now to get close enough for the soulmate bond to recognize. You have to be touching, right?” Loki asked for clarification.
“Yes! At the end of the battle, I’ll give him a celebratory hug!” Thor hugged Loki for reference, in his signature rib-crushing style.
“Ouch, brother, do you want to kill your soulmate? He is merely mortal!”
“Alas, soulmate Banner is tougher than he looks.”
“He looks like an anxious mess,” Loki pointed out. “I have a point; he is especially fragile! Look at how he stood, playing with his sleeves and picking at his fingers.”
“I will teach him that he does not have to fear, that I will always be there, his soulmate.”
“That’s my secret, Cap. I’m always angry,” Bruce calmly said as he transformed into Hulk to take down the Chitauri and the rest of the Black Order.
That’s my fucking soulmate! Thor thought as he continued battling. Eventually, Thor cut off Thanos’ head with a sword he had taken from one of the dead Black Order… creatures. It was official, there was no remaining child of Thanos. They had won.
Thor threw the sword to the side and charged over to Hulk, who was transforming back to Bruce. He was glad his armor that day was sleeveless, he wanted to see his mark change. He didn’t care that Bruce was naked, he was going to hug his soulmate, damn it!
The two were engulfed in a flurry of light for a mere moment, but their arms stung as Thor’s mark changed to purple, while Bruce’s turned red.
“Holy shit,” Bruce swore, then realized he was naked, and moved quickly to hide from the Avengers and SHIELD agents. “Please, don’t look at me!” he yelled as he pulled on some discarded clothing.
“My soulmate! What troubles you?” Thor thundered, causing Bruce to flinch.
“What happened to your penis? Blown off in war?” Steve asked curiously. “I knew a few guys in my time who had that happen.”
“Uh, yeah, I can’t afford the surgery to get a new one.” Bruce lied. The man was from the 40s, who knew how he felt about queers?
“And those lines on your chest?” Bruce blushed, hard.
“Friend, Captain, do not worry my soulmate! He will tell us about his traumas when he is ready, and it is obvious he is not ready!” Thor explained as he held Bruce’s hand to stop him from running. It also served to calm the man.
“Thank you,” Bruce sighed. He’d never had anyone stand up for him like that.
Thor was back on Asgard. ‘How did I get here? I was with Bruce.’ he thought, several theories firing up as he waited for whatever had him home.
“So, you met your soulmate!” Odin called out, walking over to Thor and patting his son on the back. “Have you completed the final part of the ritual?”
“W-what ritual? We hugged and then our marks changed. Is that not it?” Thor asked with confusion. In all his years, in all the times he had asked about his soulmate and what happened when you met the, neither Odin nor Frigga mentioned a ritual.
“Nay, my son. The final part of the ritual allows you to feel their pain and emotions.”
“Then tell me what it is so I can complete it!” Thor chuckled. Why was Odin keeping it a secret?
“Alright, my boy, I cannot keep this from you forever. To complete the soulmate ritual, the two souls must combine, so to speak.”
“Combine? How the Norns?”
“Thor, you are a young man, surely you have had sex!” Odin laughed as he patted his boy on the back. Thor’s face flushed.
“Yeah, definitely!” he lied. “So, all I have to do is bed my soulmate?”
“Yes, my boy. Now, you need not lie to me, son. It’s fine to wait for your soulmate.”
“Did you, Father?” asked Thor, feigning innocence. He may not have had much action, unlike his little brother, but he knew enough from Loki’s bragging.
“I would be lying if I said I waited,” Odin admitted.
Bruce almost Hulked out when he realized he and Thor had to have sex if they wanted to fully activate the Soulmate Bond. If he could have been dysphoric about his lack of a penis at only one moment, this would be it. ‘Does Hulk have a dick?’ he wondered, never taking the time to check, or perhaps he never had the thought. Would Thor want to fuck him even if he had… that?
When Thor awoke, he was glad to find that he had not left Stark Tower, where the Avengers had set up a temporary living space. Much of the building was covered in debris from yesterday’s attack, but Tony’s apartment was safe, and he ha a few guest rooms. Clint and Nat had shared, as they were soulmates and had already bonded. Tony paired Bruce and Thor up, though thankfully their room had two beds- soulmates or not, they had just met. Tony had his own room, leaving Steve to the couch.
He staggered to the kitchen and decided to look for food. Pop tarts! He exclaimed when he saw the delightful treat. He popped two into the toaster and poured a cup of coffee.
“You’re up early,” noted Bruce as he walked into the kitchen soon after Thor sat down.
“A warrior always rises early. That, and I couldn’t sleep any longer. I’ve been thinking about this soulmate bond,” Thor said.
“Yeah, me too. I’ve had one-night stands before, but it feels different when it’s with my soulmate. Especially when he’s as handsome as you,” Bruce paused. “I want to get to know you in other areas than the bedroom before we do that. I’ve always had an interest in mythology, and it’s not every day one of the figures you’ve spent your whole life reading is your soulmate. I’ve only read your stories; I don’t know the man behind them!”
“Which story is your favorite?” Thor asked with enthusiasm, he loved recounting his adventures, now his soulmate was well versed in them. This was a dream come true.
“Probably the one where you had to dress up like a bride to get Mjolnir back!”
“Ah, yes. Now that was awkward. I had never felt such shame in my life, not until Odin banished me to Midgard after I attacked Jotunheim because they ruined my coronation.”
Bruce looked at his soulmate in wonder. “I never read that myth!”
Thor laughed. “That is because it happened last year.”
“It happened last year?”
“That is what I said.”
“Damn, I was, uh, tearing up Harlem at the time.” Bruce blushed as he remembered the last time he had been in New York. “Anyway, can you tell me the story?”
“Why, yes, Banner. So, me and my brother, Loki, have always been extremely close. When my coronation was interrupted by the Frost Giants, Odin forbid me from attacking them. In rage, I disobeyed my father, and me, Loki, my friends the Warriors Three, and Lady Sif traveled to Jotunheim, where we were attacked. Odin found us, and he was pissed that I had started a war with the Jotun. Long story short, he saw me unfit to be king. I must admit that I was arrogant and said some things I regret. He put a spell on my hammer that said only those worthy could lift it, and if they could, they would have my powers. He sent me to a place called New Mexico, where I met a young scientist by the name of Jane Foster.”
“I’ve heard of Jane, she’s a genius on the field of astrophysics! I’ve wanted to work with her for years, you know her?”
“Yes, she helped me to get my hammer back! I saved her from being killed by a being known as the Destroyer. He nearly killed me, but my selfless act proved me worthy and I was saved!”
‘He’s so fucking brave’ thought Bruce as he listened intently to Thor’s story. Of his adventure in New Mexico.
“What about you? Do you have any adventures?” Thor asked.
“N-not any that I would be able to tell, bad memories,” Bruce admitted quietly. “Whether it’s my mom being killed, my dad being abusive, being trapped in this hellhole of a vessel I call my body and my mind, being the Hulk,” he listed, every bad thing that had happened in his life flashing back to him. The only good times he had were in science labs, studying science.
“What’s wrong with your body? You’re incredibly handsome, Bruce. I don’t care I you have a penis or not. You’re still a man in my eyes.”
“It, uh, wasn’t blasted off in war. I never had one. These scars on my chest?” Bruce started, pulling his shirt off as he pointed to the thin lines lining the bottoms of his pecs. “Were from when I had my chest tissue surgically removed. Thor, I was born female.” Bruce’s eyes burned with the beginnings of tears, he could feel Hulk thundering in the back of his mind, begging to be released.
“HULK SMASH” he yelled in Hulk’s voice, before slipping back into Banner-mode. He threw his fists down onto the bed as he flopped onto it. His skin turned green but otherwise, he was still Banner. Hyperventilating, the years of ridicule he had faced at the hands of his father, and later Ross, flashed before his eyes.
“Bruce, you’re okay. I’m totally fine with it! These feelings are common on Asgard! If I could pass as a woman to a Giant, you sure as Hel can as a man. And you are a man, you aren’t pretending like I was pretending to be a woman.”
“Thanks.” Bruce took the compliment, not quite believing it. He hasn’t properly accepted a compliment in years, knowing from experience that trust would lead him to betrayal in the end.
“I mean it, Bruce. I would never lie to you; you have my word.”
Bruce spits blood as he takes yet another punch. “God damn it, Becca, how many times do I have to beat it into your head that you ain’t a boy?” Brian snarls, before punching Bruce again.
“Gee, why don’t ya punch me again, see if that does it?” Bruce yells, sarcasm dripping from his busted lips. Brian follows the request, breaking his child’s nose. Bruce’s head snaps back, hitting the concrete floor, knocking him out.
Except he doesn’t. Instead of going unconscious, Bruce transforms into the Hulk, growing in size until he stood, seven feet tall, green, still bleeding. “What the hell, girl?” Brian swears before Bruce snaps, forcing his father into the concrete. SMASH. SMASH. SMASH!
“Y-you punch like a girl. Oh wait, you are one, even if you’re a fuckin monster inside.”
Bruce wakes suddenly. He never was present for his father’s death, being deep in research at that point. He hadn’t even gone to the funeral, knowing his relatives would still see Bruce as the little girl he had always been in their eyes. Even if his curly locks had long been cut, and he had stubble along his jaw, and he had recently gotten top surgery, they would still call him Rebecca.
Yet, his mind, since he had turned into Hulk, liked to show scenes of him Hulking out on Brian, killing him, even though the man had died in real life from old age. Even in death, the man still hated his child. No, hate wasn’t strong enough a word. Brian despised Bruce.
Bruce didn’t realize he was crying until he couldn’t breathe, his sobs choking him, sending him into a panic attack. “Thor! Thor!” he managed to scream, throat dry, closing up, his fingernails clawing at his forearms.
“Banner?” Thor mumbled as he awoke, exhaustion still in his bass voice. “What’s wrong?” he reached over to turn on a light, only to see the smaller man shaking and scratching himself. “Hey, hey, hey, it’s fine. I’m here, you’re not in danger!”
Bruce jumps back at Thor’s fingers touching his bare chest. “Don’t hurt me!” he cries. “Dad, no! Okay, fine, I’m a fucking girl, I’ll never be a man!”
“Shhhh, the sun’s getting low, I won’t hurt you, you’ll never be hurt again. Your father is dead.” Thor reaches out to calm the man the way he used to calm Loki when the God of Mischief woke from nightmares. At first, Bruce flinches but then accepts the soft touch of Thor rubbing his back and brushing his hair from his face. Thor allows Bruce to cry into his chest, let the tears fall as his panic attack fades. “Bruce, my love, are you okay?”
“N-no. My dad,” he stutters. His face burns even harder than it was from his panic attack.
“Is dead, sweetheart. He won’t hurt you; I won’t allow it. If anyone hurts you, I will kill them. I’ve slain more enemies than the number of years I’ve been alive, that bastard won’t be the first nor the last.”
Bruce looks down at his wrists, skin torn and bleeding. He frowns, feeling the sting of his tears and sweat mixing with the wounds.
“Ah, I shall kiss them better,” Thor remarks, before running his lips over each and every mark. To Bruce’s amazement, the blood stops running, and each line turns white before disappearing completely.
“Can soulmates just do that?” Bruce asks.
“No, I don’t think so. However, I can. When Loki and I were small, my mother would kiss our battle injuries away, and by that, I mean the wounds from when Loki stabbed me. I guess I inherited her magic. Ironic, since Loki is the one of us that can perform spells.”
“Kiss all of my pain away,” Bruce smiles as he pecks the God on the lips. Thor quickly deepens the kiss as the two lean back so Thor straddles Bruce.
“Are you okay, my love?” Thor asks with concern. He feels a massive pleasure course throughout his body like lightning, but he can stop if his soulmate is too uncomfortable.
“I’m okay,” Bruce whispers. “I’ll tell you if my dysphoria gets to be too much.”
Bruce wakes the next morning and smiles at his soulmate, his naked form covered by their comforter. They had officially completed the soulmate bond.

Life is Real {Chapter One}
ROGER TAYLOR
how will Roger cope when he finds that his new best friend, whom he's falling in love with, is slowly dying?
HI! So I’m back and hoping this series will not flop, lol. A few people have been interested in seeing this, so here I am with what people want! If you want, drop a comment or send me an ask and I’ll add you to my tag list. Mwah!
.
Also... This story is a multi-part fan-fiction with heavy, mature themes. The Original (and Main) Female Character has a type of Cancer. The type will not be mentioned, but there may be some scenes with heavy implements of medication, treatment or heavily implied scenes at a hospital.
I DO understand that this topic hits close to home for a lot of people, and if this angst-based series is not something for you, please ignore. Thank you.
[also, send me asks because I need mutuals and also need entertainment!]
.
W/C: 2k+
Warnings: Angst. Mentions of personal struggle.
Main Characters: 80s!Roger Taylor, MammaMia2!Lily James (Lillian)
[the start will be a bit slow, but please hang in there! this will begin to swing into place in chapter two, fully being immersed in the plot once we hit chapter three! amazing! love you guys. show love, and enjoy.]
Don't you know... I'm still standing; better than I ever did." Lillian quietly sang, her mind foggy, hazy... cloudy with confusion at the thoughts cramming her brain. "Looking like a true survivor, feeling like a little kid." Why were these thoughts circling in her mind? She was fine, that's what everyone thought. It's what it looked like... looking like she had the normal life, maybe some even classified her as privileged after coming out of Oxford University with a post-graduate degree in English and Creative Writing. One with creatives wonders and endless ideas, she was. Her apartment was a bare representation of her mind that was constantly running at the speed of light, a new idea popping up maybe every five minutes, but, the only real action taken in her apartment was the jingle of her keys as she placed them down on the bench of her kitchen, her shoes she chose to wear that day - their clunk hitting the wall as she slipped them off and walked the rest of her way towards her room where she would immediately strip herself of the day's clothes and swap for an oversized hooded jumper. The twenty-seven-year-old always had the audacity to write about her dream life, always adding to the one project she would constantly come back to, like she always has. It had been her side piece throughout university, her majors and lectures always taking priority, a negative fact of her life, as she always wanted to work on this specific piece. The one about her life, not her life in this reality, but the next. Almost a replication of her life if it could be done over again. Her life would be a buzz in this reality. She'd have a better childhood, not one where her father left at the age of eight after providing a solid year and a half of social and financial abuse, leaving herself and her mother with nothing. They grew from that, though. Her mother found better, and even though Lillian hated the guy at first, they grew to become mutual towards each other. Nothing more. She'd have a sibling or two in this life. She'd always wanted one, always wondered why all of her friends had one and she didn't, an only child. But with life moving quickly and a fast independence building for herself, those friends soon faded from her life when she finally found her dream career she was going to work hard to get anywhere near the end goal. A form of desperation, giving her one of the few things she wanted in this life, which would be the only reward she'd receive in this life, too. But the next, she'd be twenty seven, hopefully engaged. Maybe even be a little risky, perhaps, and have her own child be a part of her bridal party. Her son, a page boy? Her daughter, a flower girl? But this life, her real life, held something different. She was twenty seven, at home in her bare, white coloured walls of an apartment writing this supposed dream she wanted to live; this supposed... fantasy, she wanted to fill. But instead of filling this void with her next dream and fantasy, she was filling it by achieving her goal of becoming educated enough to write a book. So that's what she did. Working one, singular shift a week at the local grocer, this is what she lived off. The basics. That's all she needed. She'd had her own form of independence for a while, ever since she finished school, her mother now an obnoxious brat who had her new man, completely forgetting about her daughter that was still under her care at age seventeen, as that's when she completed that form of education before shipping herself straight off to university. Don't get her wrong, she was glad she got this early offer for Oxford, her grades and teacher's recommendations actually getting her somewhere. Yes, don't take her as an ungrateful woman, glad that she was given somewhere to go after being shipped off to Oxford, her mother providing substantial money to find and buy an apartment. Yes, that's right, buy. Her mother even covered costs of attending university, and she was eternally grateful, but also disappointed she couldn't fulfil her duties of being independent as she wanted to, but she wasn't selfish, either. Ten years later and she could count on one hand how many times she's had a call from her, yet, after promising on those calls that both herself (her mother) and her 'father', would come visit. She couldn't even begin to count on one hand how many times they've come to see her. Zero. And, besides the point, she never had the heart to tell her mum that she was going through some tough things in life, fearing she would be met with words similar to 'stop being silly, you're just uneducated', or even better, 'you just don't know how to go about life', - all before she got to the actual reason she called. But that wasn't it at all, because she was perfectly fine in the aspect of having resources. She had an excellent education, a roof over her head and skills to get her somewhere in life, whether she had much of it left, that is. That's why she didn't have the heart, nor the confidence to tell her mother that she was dying, over the phone. She also feared that her mother wouldn't care. Wouldn't believe her. So here she was, strolling the streets in, the dizziness the succumbs her in the morning, the feeling of nausea that doesn't drift until around lunchtime a lot of the time. She tries to prevent wearing black in pure daylight, it attracts sun and heat, which could make her pale and fragile skin burn, making it turn red and peel at a much faster rate than what the rest of the human race would know. Refraining from wearing black also means the people who walk behind her oddly skinny figure don't have to see the constant fall of her blonde hairs that shed from her head, sticking to the material of her clothes. She doesn't want to freak anyone out. But today, Lillian wore black. She typically wears a long sleeve on the top half and long pants on the bottom half, prevents from scaring people, and more importantly herself away, from her constantly bruising skin, the weakness of her own skin bruising at the slightest touch with a little extra force, for example, hitting her elbow on the kitchen bench. Bruise, almost a few hours later, black and blue skin in a circular shape. With a negative mindset almost half the time, her mental health isn't always they greatest, as she sees how her body is affected from treatment, how strong it's getting as her body somehow, after some rounds, grows weaker. Independence was important to Lillian, as mentioned before. She had one, a real friend who stuck close by for a while, but dropped out of the degree they were in together half way through to move to Scotland. Sophie was her name, but after tears and shouted goodbyes at the airport, a promised call every week soon turned into calls once a month, and then once every birthday, maybe on Christmas day if she were lucky. Lillian doesn't even know if Sophie remembers her. So she didn't tell her. No one knows. It's hard that no one knows about that battles Lillian has with herself every day, fighting through the pain, the surprises and the side effects. She doesn't have an outlet, anyone to go to. Her confidence is drained to the point of no return, so she wouldn't even consider going to visit someone like a counsellor. It's been three years and seven months as of the beginning of July 1980. Today. January 1977, not the nicest way to start off the year when you're diagnosed with cancer and given, at that point in time, a message, one saying to 'live the next five years of your life to the fullest', because the doctor's didn't even know if Lillian would be here for her thirtieth birthday. This really isn't how she imagined her life to go. She knew since she was fifteen that she wanted to be an author. Yes, she was eternally grateful that she had an excellent education, the beginning of her life set up for her. But she also wanted to become an author, whether that meant she published a book and it made two people's bookshelves at home or if it meant she became the most known author in the world for the next ten years. She didn't know, she didn't care, she just wanted to get a book published. Lillian is twenty-seven years old. Her birthday is in April. In all honesty, she has a maximum of two years to get this book out, and if she does, she will die a happy woman, as long as she gets one of her works published. She didn't care if she didn't have a boyfriend, a husband for that matter. Yes, she may have been a little upset at the fact that the chance of her having children was becoming closer to impossible than highly unlikely, but what could she do? She was a woman walking around, her 'cancer tag' of sorts, invisible to the rest of the world, to the naked eye of the people that walk past her on a day-to-day basis. She'll sometimes get bruises on her shoulders when people unnecessarily barge into her. But what she felt right now was a sense of loss of direction. Her recent chemotherapy session was a little stronger than the last, and one of the side effects was a lack of remembering things. Forgetting things all of a sudden. Surroundings, thoughts, all those types of things. This thought overwhelmed her, as she tried to escape her routine of staying home in isolation for most of the week and escape to the different parts of England, wanting to explore. If she didn't have long left, she needed to do it. Lillian really didn't know where she was; picking up the pace as she sees street signs not far ahead through her blurry vision, both from tears and as a side effect. Speed walking was a common thing Lillian did, sometimes to escape the world when it all got too much. Running was something she refrained from doing, the speed her legs were to travel at making her muscles stiff after a while. Another side effect. She knew the city she was in. Norfolk. She was still in England, but she doesn't remember what specific part she's in. This is the difficult part, trying to remember. Slowing down as she enters a street with townhouses, mostly single or double storey, nothing extravagant. A quieter part of the town. Friendly looking. Lillian calms down a little, walking slow with an effort to make her heart rate drop back to average resting rate, so she wouldn't visibly stress once more. But her heart rate only sped up as she realises she's reached the end of the street. A no through road, no way to get to any other part of own unless she turns around, but that was the opposite of what she wanted to do. Her breathing increases, the effort to summon her energy to turn around and walk back to where she originally came from disappears, so she turns back and walks forward towards the door in which she was standing not too far away from. Knocking. A thing that makes her nervous. The chance of having to communicate with someone. She wasn't introverted, god no. She was as extroverted as could be... or, more or so used to be. She believed she still was, but, that was for both her and whoever answered the door to find out. Her breathing may be rapid, and her mouth may be dry, desperate for water. She was dehydrated- but her breathing only increases once more, her mouth becoming impossibly dryer than she's met with a confused face of a man, blonde. He's beautiful, and she knows who he is. She seems to forget everything she's supposed to know as she makes eye contact with this man's piercing blue eyes. She knows who he is. It's Roger Taylor. Drummer. Famous. Queen. "Uhm... Hello?" He asks, clicking his finger in front of the startstruck girls face. "Can I help you?"

(Film three. After “pirates medley”. The hook sisters have just run into an alleyway near the marketplace)
Harriet: ya shouldna done kiddo
Cj: why not.
Harriet: because it wasn’t a good move
Cj: you might like men drooling all over you but I hate it.
Harriet: you agreed to it.
Cj: I didn’t think they’d try that. So I’d apprecrie you dispensing with the victim blaming if you please.
Harriet: yeah yeah whatever. Lookee o’er there
Cj: aw FUCK!
(They’ve just spotted chadeficent and Ursula some ways away)
Harriet: SEA WITCH!
Ursula: oh god. (Fake smile) Harriet! To what do I owe the
(Cj shoots her in the stomach with a blunderbuss)
The sisters: where is he.
(Ursula straightens up and the bullet flies out of her stomach hitting some poor sap in the head)
Chadeficent: that was Balthazar yes?
The other three: who the hell cares?
Harriet: where is my brother?
Ursula: hmmmmm. Dunno don’t care. That work for you?
(Harriet lunges are the sea witch but Cj holds her back. While this is happening Hadie poofs back in slightly singed and very pissed off)
Hadie: for the record Rodan. I don’t appreciate being sent to Dark Mountain. Chernabog may be insultingly attractive but he’s far too fatherly for my tastes.
Cj: shove off spawn. There’s more important matters at hand
(Hadie chuckles sinisterly. Then force chokes the sisters)
Hadie: oh look at that. Fragile necks and bravado are such an inexplicable combination. And as you will see very soon. Deadly
Harriet: he.. he he mi...dea.
Cj: he...gone
Hadie: what? What’re you talking about?
Chadeficent: oh I think you know
(Hadie’s eyes glow bright grey. He drops the sisters, takes out a silver knife and throws it at Ursula. It slashes her cheek)
Hadie: ever heard of phlegathon tempered steel? It cuts you. Then heals you. But keeps you in burning unbearable pain. Until such time the wielder chooses to release you from it.
(Ursula’s cheek is starting to burn. Steam is curling from the edges of the cut)
Ursula: I was exiled from Atlantica. Whatever petty wound you deal me is of no consequence.
Hadie: yeah but (he sighs) cut you enough and it burns away your very being. So. What’ll it be bitch?
(Ursula growls in irritation and disappears in a torrent of water)
Hadie: now that that’s over oh cripes they’re gone.
(Chadeficent and the girls have left the scene. At the Jolly Roger Hook is waiting on deck)
Hook: GIRLS! What the hell have you been doing. Dukes is dead. And the men say you killed him Cj. If you keep doing this you’ll never land a husband.
Cj: aye. And what of it father?
Harriet: oh god not now.
Cj: yes now. Our brother has been missing for a year now and may as well be dead and all he cares about is his disgusting heterosexual misogynistic bastards of a crew
Harriet (coughing): code red. Code red
Hook: what’re you saying Cj?
Cj: what d’you think I’m saying dad?
Hook: it sounds as though you’re thinking to much like your freak of a brother
Harriet: Harry was bisexual pops
Hook: like I said. A freak. Men are with women. Women are with men. It’s the law of the world. And I expect my children abide by that
Cj: yes and when they don’t you cast them out and they need to take refuge somewhere else. Say a restaurant run by a squid
Hook: if you have something to say then say it.
Cj: ok. I like girls. Always have. Always will. And you cannae change it or me
(Starkey hobbles outside with a tea set. Sees the family feud. Starts to make his way back inside)
Hook: STARKEY! Did you know about Cj’s affliction
Cj: oh here we go
Starkey (diplomatically): uhhhh. I believe that. She. Wanted
Cj: it’s ok uncle Starkey. I told him last year. Considering he was the one that raised me while you were brainswashing Harriet into being Captain Hook 2.0 and Harry was fuck knows were trying to get Tick Tock to chomp his hand off in a vain attempt to get your approval!!!!
Hook: in time this will pass and you’ll be just like your sister
Cj (scoffing): of course. Be like Harriet. The pretty one. The smart one. The obedient one.
Harriet (for once very sheepish): Ceej. Could ya please lemme outta this?
Cj: no. He’s always wanted me to be like you. But guess what. I’m never gonna be who you want me to be
(This is when “sit still look pretty” happens. After the song Cj storms off)
Hook: and do you have any oddities you’d like to share Harriet? Because if so nows the time
Harriet: yes. As a matter of fact I do. For the past seven years I’ve been in uh heh “cahoots” with Gaston junior.
Hook: like the freak and the pansy
Harriet: sort of. Except theirs was more emotional. Ours is. Purely on the physical side. And yes. I’m the boss.
(Hook goes puce)
Harriet: uncle Starkey. I’ll be back presently
(She runs after her sister)
Hook: take me back to my quarters Starkey
Starkey: of course sir.
(He wheels the captain back in side. Harriet catches up with Cj. She finds her in an alleyway surrounded by the felled bodies of ten dogs and one cat)
Harriet: what the hell did you do.
Cj: the one thing I ever got from him, that wasn’t a hand me down from you or Har, was this.
(She holds up a whistle)
Harriet: wow
Cj: yep. Turns out it’s a dog whistle. Which pretty succinctly explains how the bastards could hear it all the way across Neverland when Jane found the treasure
Harriet: and the morbidly obese demon on four legs?
Cj: Tremaine’s moggy
Harriet: right. What you did was incredibly brave you know.
Cj: I don’t like animals.
Harriet: I meant what happened at home just now
Cj: I know. Like I said. I don’t like animals.
(At the core fours old apartment chadeficent has just arrived. Only to see Jafar watching tv)
Chadeficent: hello worthless. Miss me?
Jafar: who...?
Chadeficent (Maleficent’s voice): this better?
Jafar (exasperated): you couldn’t have taken control of a pretty one?
Chadeficent (Chad’s voice): fuck off you crypt keeper
(Jafar looks taken aback)
Chadeficent: bugs are to be worked out
Jafar: what is it?
Chadeficent: spawn of Cinderella
Jafar: you couldn’t have got the ash girl herself?
Chadeficent: too strong willed (Chad’s indignant voice) hey! (Maleficent’s voice) SILENCE! (Both voices) I am creating a cult. To destroy our children. Ursula is aboard. What say you?
(The next morning. At Evie’s palce)
Mal:...and Ben found them this morning passed out on the couch with like eight tubs of deluxe rocky road ice scattered at round.
Jay: deluxe?
Mal: chocolate marshmallow ice cream instead of chocolate ice cream
Jay (hopefully): Christmas list?
Mal (generating a tin with magic): why wait?
Jay: ooh yay!
Evie: AH! No. Not yet
Jay: awww. I’ve been here for an hour
Mal: let the man eat sis. It’s the least you can do since you are stabbing him with pins when you could just use 🎶🎶magic🎶. By the way. Your hair remarkably black today
Evie (snarling): get outta workshop
(Mal leaves cackling. She goes to the kitchen where Carlos is giving a plate the thousand yard stare)
Mal: hey kiddo. What’s up?
Carlos (softly with a lot of feeling): the cake...it’s gone. An entire macadamia nut chocolate sponge cake. Gone. How? There was enough for fifty people to have two slices each. And it’s all gone. How can it all be gone?
(The twins and Gil come racing pass the room screeching at the top of their lungs with food all around their mouths)
Mal (aside to Carlos): I think I know. (Normal volume). Gil! Could you bring the kids in here please?
(Gil troops back to the kitchen with the twins trailing behind. All three look terrified. Carlos and Mal lift the twins up onto the counter)
Mal (“mom” voice in full effect): now boys. Did you ask your papa to get the cake from the fridge?
Twins: uhhhh...
Mal: it’s ok. I’m not mad. I just wanna. If it was you then that’s ok. If it was Dude then we need to get him to a veterinarian.
Carlos: WHAT?!?!
Mal: oh shit. Sorry honey.
Carlos: listen to me you rotten little————(the twins look at him with the epitome of puppy eyed innocence) 🎶dad. Where are you. You’re good with this type of stuff🎶
Mal: paperwork
Carlos: fuck
Gil: it was us. Squeaky wanted a snack and I couldn’t find anything in the fridge but the cake. We only meant to share a corner but Celia oh crap
Mal: 🎶oh Celia🎶
(The girl melts out from the shadows clutching her stomach)
Mal: did you help Gil and the twins eat the entirety of Jane’s birthday cake?
Celia: if I says yes what would you do.
Mal: give you an antacid and advise you to take it easy with the party food.
Celia: then yes. I helped.
Mal: come on then.
(They head to the bathroom. But Mal’s phone starts ringing)
Mal: it’s Ben. Do you know how to get to the bathroom?
Celia: Dizzy sent me a schematic last night
Mal: good. That’s good. If evo finds out I will plead the fifth. You do know that don’t you?
Celia: wouldn’t expect anything less. See ya
(She runs off)
Mal (answering her cell phone): hello your majesty. Any idea on your eta or should I send your apologies to Jane?
Ben: I wish I was close to being done. But there are so many papers to get through and there’s no use in denying it. People are terrified at what ever killed the guards.
Mal: I could come and help you?
Ben: no. Definitely not. Go have fun. Do the routine.
Mal: but you’ll miss it. Though a private rendition for your eyes only could also be very interes-
Cogsworth: ahem hello my lady
Mal (trying not to laugh): sorry Carlton.
Cogsworth: that’s quite alright dear. I’ll just uh go ahem away
(He leaves and bal bursts into laughter)
Mal: oh that was oh god that
Ben: I I’m so sorry
Mal: don’t be. Just sorted a domestic so a I needed a laugh
(As they’re talking Mal’s walking outside)
Mal: what on the office menu today
Ben: chargrilled Damon foie gras and quinoa
Mal: what no pizza?
Ben: fraid not
Mal: I can always zap you some sausage rolls and mac and cheese cupcakes from the party
Ben: please and thank you?
Mal: and the new cake
Ben: Celia?
Mal: along with your brother and nephews. Carlos was not happy
Ben: of course.
Mal: hey, was chad supposed to meet us at Evie’s?
Ben: I don’t think so. Is he there?
Mal: yeah. Looking like the shalka Doctor.
Ben: oh.
Mal: I’ll go see what he wants
Ben: be careful. Love ya
Mal: always am. Love you too.
(She hangs up)
Mal: hey chad. Whatcha doing
(Chadeficent turns to look at her. Their eyes glow black. And Mal enacts the safety protocols on the house keeping everyone else inside and safe)
Mal: what did you do?
Chadeficent (Maleficent’s voice): oh it’s not chad. Hello my sweet
Mal (breathing heavily): Maleficent?
Chadeficent: mhmm. Now give me my sceptre
Mal: what did you do to him?
Chadeficent: he is simply a mindless hormone driven teenage boy
Mal: yeah, I know, he’s an dickhead. Nobody likes him. At all
Chadeficent (Chad’s voice, very, very hurt): they don’t?
Mal: yeah. You’re insufferable.
Chadeficent (Maleficent’s voice): ENOUGH! Give me the sceptre
Mal: you stole the wand didn’t you. And the staff and the mirror. So why do you need the sceptre.
Chadeficent: I want everything of importance (Chad’s voice) I wanna be king (Maleficent’s voice) I want my daughter back
Mal: I’m not your daughter. And chad you hate magic. Why would you use it to be king?
Chadeficent (Chad’s voice): I uh I dunno (Maleficent’s voice) he was easily bought with a butter finger and empty promises I have absolutely no intention on fulfilling. Now. The sceptre.
Mal (mind working a mile a minute): h how, how about a story. And I can make you a cup of tea yeah? Or coffeee?
Chadeficent (Chad’s voice): ooh beer (Maleficent’s voice) very well. But be quick about it
Mal: ok. Ok um
(She turns to the drinks table. This is when “she’s so gone” happens. After which Chadeficent picks her up from the splintered table by the neck)
Mal: why...are..you...doing...this?
Chadeficent (Chad’s voice): you don’t deserve this. None of it. You belong on that slag heap. You deserve to rot. To be forgotten. I want you all dead. Don’t you see? You can’t be queen. It’s not right. Audrey should be queen. And I should be king
Mal: but...Ben
Chadeficent (still Chad’s voice): ALL OF YOU WILL DIE. YOU. THE MAGIC PEOPLE THE RUNT THE CHICKS THE TRAIOR THE FREAK OF A DWARF. ALL OF YOU. DEAD (Maleficent’s voice) as for me. I want to break you. For you to see how useless you truly are without me.
Mal (turning purple in the face now): get...bent
(Chadeficent drops her and pulls out the wand)
Chadeficent (Chad’s voice): there’s never been an ugly bitch who’s been queen. Looks are everything. Bibbidi bobbidi boo
(Mal is washed is black light which solidified into a black cloak. The houses doors are blasted off their hinges and jay stands there completely gold and absolutely buzzing with power. Chadeficent cackles as they disappear in black smoke. Jay and the others rush to Mal’s side)
Carlos: oh my god! Mom are you ok?
Mal (voice hoarse thin and cracked): yes ahem yes ye yeah. What the hells wrong with my voice
(Evie takes the hood off of Mal and cackles)
Evie: HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! OH MY GOD! YOU LOOK LIKE
Jay (unimpressed with her behaviour): your mother. When she gave the apple to Doug’s aunt
(Evie stops cackling)
Carlos: what happened
Mal: Chad’s possessed by Maleficent. He wants to kill us all and be king
Carlos: and goat lady?
Mal: wants to break me
Evie: so what do we do
Celia: isn’t it obvious? Hades. Your father.
Evie: he is not
Celia: Mal was right and you know it. So stop pissing about and help me get your sister inside the house so she can get some proper clothes on cause an old lady in a minidress is not a good look. I should know. Cruella used to come to the arcade in the warm days. It’s was horrifying. Thank you Carlos for killing her last year by the way
Carlos: much obliged Ceels.
(Mal’s phone rings again. This time Carlos is the one to answer it)
Carlos: hi yes dad. Ok brace yourself. Chad has the wand. He’s possessed by Maleficent. He wants us all dead. Barricade yourself in your office. Emergency protocols. All that shizz. You have magic so you should be fine. We’re gonna stop them. It’s what we do. Us too (he ends the call) that’s dad sorted. Now how do we fix mom?
Celia: go to the island. Get the ember. Come back here. Kick him in the balls until he’s exorcised
Mal: Gil. You coming with us?
Gil: I would but. My boys
Doug: I’ll stay with them. I have my exosuit. I’ll keep them safe. I promise you I will
Gil: ok
Evie: oh my god!
Doug: our kid is fine. She’s with Lonnie and Jane. You know. A badass and a light fairy.
Evie: oh thank god
Jay: so we all know what we’re doing. Action time?
All the others: action time
Squirmy: AAAAAH
Gil (panicky): what? What is it? What’s wrong
Squirmy: I want to give the pretty lady my present
(He holds up a bouquet of periwinkle blue tulips. Everyone relaxes)
Gil: Jane will love them. But it could be a good idea to keep them here. Just until we’re all back together. Yeah?
Squirmy (unhappily): yeah
Doug: c’mon boys. You can help me bake a new cake.
The twins: YAAAAAAAAY
(They run back in. Evie goes up and embraces Doug)
Evie: we’ll be back soon as possible
Doug: take however long you need. I stabbed someon in the junk last year. I can defend myself
Evie: oh I know that. It’s just that
Doug: Evie sweetie. Look at me. I’ll be fine. I promise. And if I need to reach you there’s our phones the the psychic link you set up.
Evie (voice breaking): I...
Doug (understandingly): me too. Now let’s go
(They all run back into the house except for one)
Mal: uh. Guys
Jay: oh. Right
(He runs back and carries her to the house)
Mal: watch the hip. Watch the hip
Jay: yeah yeah yeah.
Celia: so do we get the the island. The limos?
Evie: no. They’re all the the school garages until next week.
Celia: then we’re screwed?
Mal: not entirely
Jaylos and Evie: THE BIKES
Celia: what?
Mal: how I left last year
(At the cliff site. The six of them are on their bikes. Celia’s hanging on to Gil)
Carlos: go on mom

The Day After The Ball
Fandom: Marvel, MCU
Summary: The morning directly after my The Royal Ball fic. It is essentially The Royal Ball part 2.
Pairing: Loki x Reader(lady Asgardian Reader)
Warnings: None
A/n: Honestly, some other fanfic authors are freaking out because of tumblr's mess, while some don't seem bothered at all (I totally feel for those who feel more negatively impacted and I want to send them all love and support). I, for one, am willing to have wonky searches and some dismal views for a while if it means that someone is finally working to stop all of those pedophile blogs and porn bots. I just have to have faith that the folks who follow me will still get to read this and I hope they enjoy. And hopefully tumblr doesn't burn up to a crisp over night. 💚
----------
The morning after the royal ball was a tough one. You awoke as early as your body would let you, having very little sleep during the night, only to be later than you should have been. While most of Asgard was able to stay at home, nursing hang-overs or nuzzling companions, Odin had scheduled his warriors in training to all meet for sparring under his watch the morning after the ball. Something about 'an invasion doesn't wait for an opportune time from those they are invading'. It made sense to you, but unfortunately you could tell by the amount of light already outside that you needed to run to even make it to the courtyard in time. You managed to drag your limbs out of bed and get the appropriate gear together through your exhaustion and jolted out of the room.
You normally would appreciate the warm sun shining down through the trees surrounding the courtyard, but you didn't have time to even register it as you trot up to the gathering of others.
"You look lousy." Fandral commented as you huffed into line beside him at the end of the group.
"Wow Thank you." You deadpanned.
"Sleepness night?" He pressed with a suggestive tone that made you a bit uncomfortable. "Get lucky after the ball?"
You leaned a may from him and rolled your eyes, "No." You deadpanned still, "I just didn't sleep well. Simple as that."
"Leave her be." Sif interjected with a glare.
"Fine fine. I was only going to offer my support anyway." He sighed and turned to the courtyard just in time for Odin to walk into the clearing followed by his sons and small collection of others in full armor.
You tried to not watch Loki approach. He was the main reason you had such troubles sleeping last night. At the ball, the two of you had danced. It was a terrible dance technically, but neither of you were going for technique. You spun around in clumsy circles trying to trip each other and laughed far too loud for such an eloquent event. You had the most fun you'd had in such a long time. Which wasn't surprising really, knowing how much you enjoyed your time with Loki. What was surprising was how the two of your came extremely close to kissing. Or at least you thought so. You were both giggling after almost intentionally knocking a stiff couple over in a dramatic dip, when you were suddenly so close to Loki that you lost your breath completely. He looked at you with a reverence you'd never experienced before. His eyes so soft and lips so close.
Those eyes and lips haunted you all night. You didn't know what to think. Loki had been your friend as long as you could remember now. You were just kids when you met and now you were both adults, so kissing him shouldn't have been such a taboo thought. Yet, it felt like you shouldn't be thinking about such things, like kissing him would break apart years of friendship. Still, you couldn't deny that you actually wanted to. Maybe. Probably. Definitely. You couldn't decide, and the debate in your mind kept you up all night.
Odin gave a quick speach about close combat before asking for trainees to split off into pair or groups and left the crowd to go sit in a shaded area to the side of the courtyard. A nudge to your shoulder pulled your attention to Loki who somehow slipped up next to you with out you noticing.
"Rematch?" He voiced in an almost teasing tone, however he sounded a bit tired himself.
"You want me to kick your butt again?" You laughed lightly.
"We both know that's not how it went. I went easy on you and I still won quite spectacularly, per usual." He corrected with pride.
"Or I let you win in order to maintain your fragile ego." You countered smiling wide.
"I do suppose a rematch is the only way to settle our differences in recollection then." And with that he walked out to a central part of the field, far enough away from others and turned to you. He mimicked the bow he made last night to initiate your dance before pulling himself back into a defensive stance.
You couldn't stop the memories triggered by his bow flood your head. Exactly what you didn't need right now. You rolled your head from side to side and shook your extremities out. You tried to wake your body up more and focus on sparing instead of dancing and kissing. Taking in a deep breath you scanned to field directly around Loki and made a game plan. You wouldn't be able to match his strength, and with his reach longer than yours, you knew your best bet was to out step him and be too quick for him to ever touch you. Even that was a stretch, you weren't a great natural warrior, but you have trained enough with Loki to know to his go-to moves and enough with Sif to be pretty good at dodging.
You stalked around in a circle around Loki who simply watched you out of the corner of his eyes. You could feel him watching you. You had a feeling he could even see you when he had his head turned away. A moment before you were going to lunge in his direction, he beat you to it. Loki's movements were fluid and graceful as he moved swiftly in your direction. You barely dipped away in time for the first strike and pulled a wooden practice dagger out just in time to catch his own wooden dagger inches away from your side.
He hummed in approval of your block then was off away from you immediately. The two of you glided and whipped around each other, exchanging blows in a display that was notably more elegant than your dance the night before. The sparring went on for a few minutes with out either of you landing a hit. You even attracted a small crowd that watched you go at it instead of practicing themselves.
Suddenly you lost your footing and instead of sliding away to avoid a whirling side slash from Loki you ended up doing an awkward lunge to the left and fell hard onto one knee. You braced for the impact, but it didn't come. You whipped your head around, but couldn't see Loki anywhere. You let out a breath in relief dispute your confusion. Then just as suddenly as he was gone, you felt a hand grasp yours and disarm you quickly as your hand was pinned to your back and you were pulled up to your feet. Loki's other slinked around your front and you felt the tip of his practice dagger gently poke you under your ribs.
You had a comment on your tongue about how it wasn't fair for him to use his illusions to trick you, but he spoke first. Leaning close to your ear from behind, whispering, "Caught you."
Simply put, your brain short-circuited. You went from being just able to focus on the fight to being able to focus on nothing but how close Loki was standing behind you. His breath warm against your ear. His arm snaked around your waste. It was a simple restraint position wasn't it? Oh but it was setting all your nerves on fire. Was his voice always this smooth? This was bad. You gulped down a hard breath and pushed out of Loki's embrace. You almost trip over your feet in the process to put as much distance between you as you could. You turned back to face him only to see his smug smirk in place.
"I win." He laughed.
"Yes, uh good, yea. Rematch goes to you." you mumbled too quickly. You nodded to him and turned to leave the area with haste. You could feel a warmth flooding your face in what could only be a strong blush and your breathing was uneasy. You needed space. You needed to get away.
Loki watched you make a quick line to another side of the courtyard and make what was an obvious attempt to feign interest in a couple of trainees trying, and failing, to take on Hogun at the same time. His rush from winning your little fight wore off quickly as he watched you. You were breathing heavy and fidgety. Both were new. You were usually up for best-two-out-of-three, and never out of energy this quickly. He had to admit he was tired today also, but he didn't expect you to be quite so out if it.
Later that day after Odin seemed pleased with his lot of exhausted warriors, everyone dispersed and went on with their normal day. Loki meant to catch you as soon as training ended, but you were no where to be found when the time came. Sif alerted Loki that you snuck out of the courtyard just as Odin was dismissing everyone.
A knock on your door startled you into reality as you were changing into some more comfortable clothes. Your daydream about the night before fading as you pulled the shirt over your head quickly.
"Come in" You call as you sit on the edge of your bed and pull on slippers.
Loki slides into your room, gently shutting the door behind him. "Are you alright?" He asked simply, not wasting time.
You thought about how you would deal with these feelings that were blossoming so strongly inside you on your walk to your room and made a simple decision, you wouldn't act upon them as to not endanger your most important friendship.
"I'm fine. I didn't sleep well last night, so I just wasn't at my best today." You said, and Loki smiled at the normally chipper tone in your voice.
"You too?" He exchanged, "I had the hardest time turning my brain off last night and it definitely kept me awake later than expected."
You pushed down your desire to ask him to elaborate or worse yet tell him what you couldn't get your mind off of was in fact Loki himself. Luckily he didn't pry either and the two of you fell into easy conversation about other matters as you sat on the edge of your bed together.
The next day, you met Loki at the library to study and before you could stop yourself you sat yourself down beside him, which wasn't the normal way you two studied together. You normally sat across the table from him in order to allow more room for all your scrolls, books, and notes. However, when he gave a lopsided smile at your proximity, you knew you made the right decision. Even if having him this close now released butterflies in your stomach.
Little did you realize at the time, all these changes were leading you exactly where you needed to be. Leading you to exactly who you needed to be with.

okay, let's go. tonight was good but most of the day leading up to it was either blah or difficult, depending on the task at hand. I got up and had court, it was a super easy day where it was just me and we only needed a quick update, so they put me into the courtroom feed before the camera in the court had turned on, which I found pretty amusing. The judge showed a minute or so later, and then I was done with court at like, 9:10 am, so that was a nice change. I was otherwise supervising clinic, which was either moments of me having nothing to do at that moment or intense focus trying to figure something out, especially with one of the cases today which required some intense scrutiny from my whole work team. We didn't get anything filed, which was unfortunate, but I have two cases signed and ready to be submitted first thing tomorrow, and another one hopefully not far behind it. I also had a chat with my supervisor about this deposition we have to do tomorrow, which I'm super not looking forward to and feel very anxious about. I'm trying to remember not everyone knows legal terminology; a deposition is a pre-trial action where the lawyers from the other side get to ask the party questions, much like a cross-examination at trial. It can have several uses, one being to obtain information they don't have yet, or them trying to get a specific statement on the record that could be used as impeachment (basically the other side presenting evidence that you were not truthful about something in your testimony) evidence at trial. Honestly I'm not sure what they think they're going to get out of this, they already have an 8 page amended affidavit with all our claims, and I'm just concerned their motive here is try to make my client upset and do something wrong, whatever that could be. I can't go into the case, but there are a lot of cultural influences on the marriage, and it seems like the husband is very much relying on said influences and their treatment of married woman for the case, so that's kind of challenging because she's been abused for so long and is honestly pretty fragile, and I really just don't want to make it worse for her. The worst part is that almost all of it I just have to sit there and not be able to do anything (there are certain objections I can raise, but they're very limited, and most of the time it's just the objection being noted for the record and the client still has to answer the question, so not super helpful. This is also definitely not a normal thing for us to deal with in cases. generally happens when the abuser hires a lawyer that doesn't know what they're doing in an order of protection case and try to apply other legal procedures which are really just not applicable here, and like I said I don't know what they think they're going to find out, and I of course always google opposing counsel, and it was clear in this case that the lawyer chosen was picked for cultural reasons, not expertise in order of protection cases, so this will be interesting. I just feel very anxious about the whole thing, and my supervisor is going to be there with me (on Zoom) but she's mostly just for background support and potential discussions during any breaks taken, but it's going to be on my shoulders as to what to object to, and really I just don't want to look like an idiot. There's this terrible trend in our cases where abusive men with hire male lawyers who are just as full of shit as they are, and it makes it incredibly difficult to deal with them. I haven't seen much of opposing counsel actually in action here, but by the documents I received from them I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case. but now I'm ranting and totally off the topic of today, I just really needed to get that all out. anyway, today. so we got those cases set for the morning and I did our new timekeeping procedure which is a giant pain in the ass, so super happy about that being in place going forward. A bit after 5 I got a text from friend that they were leaving work and heading to my apartment for us to get taco bell and go to
target, so I got ready (I didn't actually change because the "pajamas" I was wearing were technically just clothes because I'm out of proper pajamas again, so I mostly just put my bra on and such, lol) and she arrived not long after that. so we did our regular trip to the taco bell, and then parking in the home depot parking lot next door to eat our food. They're a really cute like walk up window ice cream place across the street from the taco bell, and it somehow got up to 80 today which is wild, so it was swarmed with people, and now I really just want that in my life lol because I do love many different ice creams, but vanilla soft serve (with sprinkles or chocolate crunchies) has a special place in my heart, so I always like that. so I need to get some soon. After we were done eating we drove over to target and did our shopping, a few random food items and some pharmacy stuff, then paid and left, friend dropped me at home from there. I took a few minutes to situate everything, then realized The Flash was probably airing right then, so I turned the tv on and clicked to start the episode from the beginning and fast forward the commercial breaks in an attempt to make it to the live airing. I'm really not invested in the flash very much to begin with, but this episode was such a filler episode it was really losing it. part of it was about a time loop, and okay, when writers go with tropes like that it's because they're really running out of ideas (there is an exception for legends of tomorrow here because they're in a different category of shows entirely, and in one where a time loop makes complete sense to happen, not to mention their time loop episode is generally regarded as one of the best episodes of the series, because Tala Ashe is really fucking good and it was really fucking good). so that was my observations there. While I was still watching it, a friend tweeted asking about my opinion on the Supergirl courtroom scenes that was playing after the flash, so I went straight into watching that. As expected for the Arrowverse, the courtroom scenes were complete bullshit, and they even tried to get some legal jargon in there but use it in an entirely incorrect premise (you can't just yell 'fruit from the poisonous tree" whenever you feel like it, and yes that is actual legal jargon). so that was too be expected anyway. the rest of the episode was fine I guess, not super interested in their plots going on, I'm here for the Luthors lol. when that ended, I watched a few episodes of Freaks and Geeks, which was amusing, especially with baby James Franco, and the girl who goes on to play Velma in the live-action Scooby Doo movies as the main character, so knowing that context was funny. After a few episodes I started getting ready for bed and now I'm here and I REALLY did not want to make this as long as it ended up being, but sometimes you just gotta let it out I suppose. oh well, time to go to bed now for sure. Goodnight sweeties, enjoy your Wednesday.
