So we all know Terezi and Vriska are moirails.

A concept of them sharing a third palemate may make more sense.

However, here's an AU where things are different from canon.

Maybe in this AU Kanaya was originally an Auspistice to Terezi and Vriska.

Then some event happened that lead to Kanaya and Terezi becoming Moirails.

That would leave things open to the two looking for a third.

Maybe Terezi still feels incomplete even with Kanaya as her Moirail.

So they discuss a third with one another... eventually deciding on you to join them.

You could be a troll or human, the two don't really mind.

You're most likely already friends with at least one or both of them, just nothing in the pale quadrant.

You and Kanaya do fashion, the jade blood often making you outfits.

You and Terezi also often role-play, usually something law related.

When the two are Moirails I imagine their interests mix.

For example, Kanaya makes Terezi outfits to fit her love of dragons and law.

The two would also try to give subtle hints to you, their friend, that they want you are their third.

For example, you're also given outfits that mix fashion and dragons.

Said outfits often share jade and teal colors.

Sometimes it's things clearly designed by Kanaya with help from Terezi.

For example, stylistic outlines of dragons surrounding a dress or suit.

Then there's outfits that have hoods and fake dragon wings, ones Terezi came up with because they are cool.

It's like their way of claiming you before you know it.

You take their gifts, even wear them.

You think the designs are cool and wearing them makes your two friends happy.

You are completely aware of the two being Moirails.

What you don't know is them wanting to make you their third.

The gifts are a good hint though.

Why else would they cover you in their blood caste?

You care for them as your friends.

Sometimes you even meet with them for role-play.

Kanaya isn't really that into it but will make outfits for you and Terezi to conduct court scenes.

Honestly you feel you're just friends, especially if you are inexperienced in pale relationships.

It isn't until you realize they do pale actions towards you that you find out what they're doing.

They're essentially manipulating you into the role they want.

Stuff like the gifts and Kanaya/Terezi shoosh papping you at times disguised as just an affectionate gesture.

Terezi probably even uses her powers to try and predict outcomes of the relationship she and Kanaya want for you.

Every action they do is strangely planned.

Kanaya acts motherly to the both of you at times.

Meanwhile Terezi metaphorically "oversees" every action to take to have you as theirs.

Also Terezi seems like she remembers your smell and can tell when you lie to them.

The two are overprotective and surprisingly manipulative as they try to convince you of being their third Moirail.

You may even settle into the role if they can play their cards right.

Terezi reassures Kanaya that they will... she knows it...

You're meant to be theirs.

Once you're officially Moirails, willingly or not, the two never leave you be.

Every outfit is made by Kanaya and their colors/interests are incorporated into it.

You may not want to wear the jade/teal dragon outfits... but Terezi can just tell when you aren't.

The two love you and are actually quite protective/attentive to your needs.

Terezi can just smell when you're upset and is always there to comfort you with Kanaya.

If anyone tries to tell you this Moirallegience is unhealthy or you don't deserve them... both of them aren't happy.

Terezi is already planning out justice and Kanaya claims she'll play executioner.

No matter how long it takes... the two will have you be their Moirail...

It's fate... all according to Terezi.

There’s a certain way things feel when you feel so strongly for someone that they are a key part of your world and then everything goes…wrong.

Karkat had become intimately acquainted with the experience over time. Next to him, Dave muttered and Karkat didn’t even bother trying to figure out what he was going on about. He’d gotten used to Dave’s antics long, long ago.

He looked to the hooded figure nearby and frowned. Knees pulled up to his chest, claws tapping out an unheard rhythm against his pants. He hadn’t said anything in a while, Karkat realized.

It was strange, he thought, on the edge of eternity. Even to Dave, time was nebulous at best. And Dave’s aspect was time. But even Jade couldn’t keep track of space here, either, any more than Kanaya could. So, he supposed, was the way of the Furthest Ring. Not like he hadn’t already known that, after three years on the meteor, passing through dream bubble after dream bubble. But he could still ponder the nature of it all regardless, now that he was a ghost.

A ghost did spend more time here than a living individual, after all.

Dirk stood abruptly and Dave cut off with a sigh. Karkat remembered when Dave couldn’t decide if he wanted to stay between him and Dirk or keep Karkat between them instead. It felt like centuries ago. Maybe it was.

Being dead wasn’t so bad anymore, though. He rarely thought about the absence of John, and neither Jake nor Jane commented on Roxy’s disappearance. No matter how hard they had searched in the beginning, they’d never found them.

Terezi cleared her throat. “Hey, stranger. We’re leaving.”

Their hooded companion, not really a stranger at all, gave a dismissive wave. He’d probably join them once everyone was ready to go. He spent a lot of time staring at the horizon of every bubble, watching the decay fester before it was inevitably wiped away. Karkat wondered why, sometimes. Other times, he thought he understood. Really, he doubted he knew at all. 

“Hey. Karkles. What’cha thinkin’?”

“Nothing. Don’t worry about it.”

Dave frowned but acquiesced. Jade squeezed his hand where their fingers were threaded together and Karkat pretended he didn’t want to do the same. Maybe one day, he’d get the chance. They had eternity, after all. One day he’d get the nerve to confess his feelings, and until then he would relish in the times Dave and Jade would drag him back from the memories of Gamzee’s smile over him as his body melted away. It was nice to be pressed between them, he thought. Peaceful.

Not much had been peaceful in his life. The meteor had been, in a way, although laced with dread and unease near the end. But here, now, he was safe. He was home.

“Do you think I’ll ever find a way back home?”

Karkat looked up from where Jade was toying with his claws and frowned. “What?”

Red eyes peeked out from underneath the hood, searching. “Do you think,” their companion said again, “that I will find a way back home?”

Dave was uncomfortably silent where his back was pressed to Karkat’s. Jade’s hands stilled around his own. 

“Yeah,” Jade said after a long, uncomfortable moment where Karkat watched his friends exchange looks of uncertainty. “Yeah, I think you will. And I think your friends will welcome you back with open arms.”

Karkat watched his own face twist into something near-wistful.

“Yeah. Maybe you’re right.”

Karkat’s heart ached for him, it did. He sat here, albeit dead, with the people he loved. His alpha self sat here, alive, yet separated.

Fate was a cruel thing, he thought.

ok okay 0k: a study in Homestuck style

Long has a vital issue in Homestuck fandom gone unaddressed. It's a question of style. Of canonicity. Of narrative convention itself. This very important question is:

How does each character spell that word that begins with an "oh" sound and ends with a "kay" sound? Do they spell it as "ok"? "Okay"? Heaven forbid, "O.K."? And are there any differences between the different characters?

This is a question that I am sure has haunted every Homestuck fan, but be haunted no longer, for I am here today with an answer. Drumroll, please…

Almost all characters in Homestuck prefer the spelling "ok". However, there are two major exceptions:

Kanaya almost always spells it as "Okay".

Tavros uses "oK" and "oKAY" about equally often, sometimes switching between the two in the same conversation.

This is so consistent that I feel confident in saying that Kanaya and Tavros's uses of "okay" are deliberate stylistic choices. In fact, so dedicated is Kanaya to "Okay" that her dialogue accounts for over a third of all "okay"s in the whole comic.

Here are some other general takeaways about how Homestuck characters spell this word:

Some characters who normally spell it as "ok" might add in extra 'a's if they're elongating the second vowel, a la Vriska's "Okaaaaaaaay".

Andrew Hussie spells it as "ok", both within the comic (in narration and the self-insert's dialogue) and outside of the comic (in news posts etc.) This is presumably why "ok" is the default for most characters and "okay" is the exception.

No one ever spells it as "O.K." Seriously, who does that.

No one ever capitalizes it as "OK" unless their typing quirk involves capitalizing everything.

So those are the main points. But if your curiosity is still not sated, no problem! Join me under the cut for even MORE details about this very important issue!

CYBERSTUCK - this one is really really specific, uhh its a post-apocalyptic dystopian cyberpunk futuristic humanstuck where the city everyone lives in once flourished with the help of several versions of androids, but as they advanced they needed more and more power which became fucking nuclear and there was a fallout. so now everythings radioactive, everyones scrounging to survive, androids from “the underground” (the main core of where most of specifically the power droids were kept) are SUPER fucking valuable cause theyre able to give you power, and the radioactivity mutated a lot of people so instead of zombies there are just mutants. and roxy is one of them but theyre still sentient so they look like fucking HEINOUSTUCK roxy but theyre still like. vibing

MAFIASTUCK - where everyone does Illegal Things but mostly not like morally illegal things. just like. yknow daves a thief and. sollux is the most wanted anonymous hacker in texas,, uh. dirk commits arson sometimes,. vriska is vriska,.. jane is in on some high key white collar crimes in the crockercorp company,, and poor john is just this normal idiot surrounded by all of this at college and hes like “god. i hate you all. please be normal”

What do you think about the characters becoming who they are in epilogues and HS2 like Dirk, Jane, etc.

For them, as people, it’s a step in the wrong direction. Dirk succumbed to the multiplicity of Bad Selves he’d been trying to fight back against for years due to Bullshit Ultimate Ascension Shenanigans. Jane fell for toxic systems of old Earth, mixed with a good slathering of biases stemming from subliminal influences and a wrong reconciliation with her Aspect that Maids go through. They’re not irredeemably evil, though. Dirk is afraid to show weakness, doubts and fear and tries to cover it up with a mean brand of narcissism. Jane pushes away her doubts through sheer stubbornness and doubling down on what she’s doing through emotional outbursts. They’ve gone really far, SPECIALLY Candy Jane, but also they don’t mark an unchangeable and inherent evil in their characters, just a bad road taken, a lack of communication with the people they used to care about. It’s painful to see them fall for their worst flaws.

As characters though it’s kind of really cool for me, I actually love Dirk’s verbosity and his justifications for his actions, while embracing the role of the Villain, and Jane going off the deep end and mirroring Condy’s ideals and Aesthetics, to the point of being called the Batterwitch? That’s fascinating to explore.

Other than them though, each character develops in different ways. Jade, isolated all her life, starts to crave excitement and action and other people, and I love love love love her new characterization personally, but you all know that. She’s made some major mistakes in Candy, yes, but I adore the... I don’t know. Open bluntness of her? Taking no shit attitude? All packaged into a still extremely-loving dog girl that adores her friends and family.

Rose, manipulated in Meat? Heart-wrenching, missing Kanaya but trying to justify ‘her own’ actions. In Candy? Spur of the moment decisions, past mistakes. Inability for foresight. But still a deep care for her friends, and now, the conflict with the wife whom she loves so much, but whose trust she’s betrayed and couldn’t DARE to tell her for over a decade, in fear of the retaliation. Unable to face the consequences. What a disaster of a woman, I love her.

Kanaya? Heart-broken, Rose taken away by Dirk in Candy, she sets out on a Galactic Quest, pinning over her, to get her back, rescue her. In Meat? A rebel leader, fighting for the freedom of Trolls, alongside her wife, and just having found about this major breach of trust. Angry, but trying to be understanding, a balancing act of high emotions, with knowing their love for each other has not faltered, but will need time to mend. The drama-

Dave and Karkat? Comfortable, domestic, in Meat, but complacent with the little pocket they have built for them, eventually pushed too far by Dirk, and deciding to take matters into their own hands before others can push them to it of their own accord. Actively dating, and searching for Rose, and Dirk. In Candy, lovers, split. Karkat cannot leave his race to suffer again, not like in Alternia. And he doesn’t want Dave and Jade to risk their lives. Dave, who keeps pinning after him, even with Jade by his side, Jade, who stays with him to cheer him up, because he lost Dirk, too, and knows it doesn’t work as a relationship, but can’t simply abandon him. And in the end, he just can’t, he succumbs to an offer from another Dirk, and finds catharsis in Other Iterations of Himself, led down a path of Narrative Relevance, but abandoning those he seemed to care so much about in the process.

Jake, oh poor Jake. He gets a rough deal, complacency, inaction, a lack of drive to push forward, he remains rather static. Dumped and manipulated by Dirk, in Meat, is left lost and aimless. Making bad choices in Candy, ending up in a loveless and abusive marriage, but eventually, oh, eventually, better late than never, takes his Kid from Jane, and stays by her side as a counter-spy attempting to outdo her. He hasn’t done much yet. But he’s in a fantastic position to actually show some drive for his family, and stop Jane from doing something even more awful.

John, depressive, isolated, fated to fight a fight he doesn’t want to and die in one Timeline, and stuck seeing a surreal and fake reality on the other. Aware that something is ever so slightly OFF with Candy, it consumes him, as the Heir of Breath he is, detaches himself once more from those he loves- But finds catharsis thanks to Jake, the drive to actually talk things out. Revelations, introspection, the slow return to form of the Protagonist, the realization that there may be more in them than they ever thought there was.

Roxy... The exploration of their gender. In Meat, leaning transmasc, non-binary, trying something that feels right for him. Friendly and open to those around him, going through his own journey of self-discovery. In Candy, they don’t transition. Finding solace in a familiar structure, she is stuck in complacency. Inaction. Not standing up to Jane and trying to gloss over that things will just work out! They won’t. She cares deeply for her family, and has found a purpose and happiness in trying to just, be a good Mom. One she never had herself. And although those potential feelings are still in there, isn’t life about being happy with what you’re doing, rather than torn up about what could have been? Mistakes can be made, bad things can happen, but... You keep pressing on.

Terezi, fuuuuuuck. Her pinning for Vriska? Vriska, stuck in Candy, isolated from contacting with her. Giving up on Vriska JUST as Vriska would’ve tried to contact her. Unable to let go of Dead John, clinging to him still. No place for her on Earth-C, no home to return to, torn up about her feelings, she joins the Narratively Relevant Journey of Dirk and Rose, only to find what she’s seeing is two broken up people who try to act tough, but are entirely unsure of what they’re doing. She’s trying to make Rose See, but those robot eyes of hers are too closed. Pitch feels arise. A fling, to try and stave off the need for a connection they both have lost.

Calliope, poor sweet dear Calliope. A Muse of Space. In both Timelines, cast aside. Ending up an Observer of what’s going on. Unable to assert their want to still be with Roxy, and ending up scared away by Alt Calliope, they at least seem to have been with her and Harry off-screen, so she’s probably Harry’s cool alien... Aunt? Gender-neutral aunt. In Meat, shocked out of their wits by Callie’s Jade-possession. Venting through gruesome art- Maybe even influencing the Candy Timeline unknowingly, which would explain so much of the Candy Timeline in general... Jade is now awake in the ship, and they may stop being so reclusive and coming back into the picture, which may also mark a shift in some things, as the scared, horrified fan regains their trust on the story, and takes on a more positive outlook on what’s to come.

Like I would love of they were all HAPPY on EARTH-C and exploring these things in healthier environments instead of being thrust into Angsty Space Adventures or Fascist Dystopias, but I looooove these characters, the good AND bad, their ties with each other, the unwarranted lashing out sometimes, the driving others away, the self-blame, the healing, the trying to make things better, the realization they have made something wrong... And the NEW characters? The Omega Kids... Just. *Chef’s Kiss*

The Limeverse is basically a timeline that split off from Homestuck so while everyone’s trapped in canonically dubious hell, the canon characters in the Limeverse are vibing and living their best lives while Lilith and Lyerre Neon Genesis Evangelion their way to the top of the eldritch heirarchy so it can stay that way. I am open to suggestions, but here’s what I have in my head so far:

- June becomes a stand-up comedian, but sticks to small shows instead of going big

- Rose’s main work involves grub adoption and the healtcare of the Mother Grub, but she also ends up making a few novels in the future

- Dave ends up working for the defense force Earth C set up during the absence of the gods and the uprising of eldritch horrors from the void, and mainly works as a trainer for the rookies. Dude’s kind of awkward with them, but is very encouraging and understanding. Also he makes SBAHJ a youtube animated series or something in his spare time SBAHJ cinematic universe real

- Jade works in nuclear physics, but also has her own garden/flower shop that she runs with Davepetasprite. They built their home in the field that borders the city and live a nice life. Since she’s the second most powerful being on Earth C, Jade and Lilith work together sometimes, mainly in the evacutaion of citizens in case of an emergency, as well as damage control.

- Jane basically tears Corckercorp to the ground and makes her own baking business alongside the Nanasprites, her dad and Jasperose. It’s a hit, and she learns to make the healing cookies and sells them to hospitals. Make a living, save some lives :D While she says she’s not focusing on romance atm, there’s definitely something forming between her and Jasperosesprite ;)

- I don’t have any ideas for Roxy, but she’s happy with where she is and still stays in touch with her friends

- Dirk is a mechanic, but also collabs with Dave on SBAHJ

- IDK what Jake would do for a living yet, but it would involve traveling Earth C and rediscovering the old world

- Aradia becomes an archeologist and helps recover stuff from the Old Earth alongside Jake. Since she no longer has to worry about her short lifespan (with the defeat of the Condesce, the age effects of the caste system vanished with the new generation of trolls, and she’s immortal so yeah) I feel like she’d end up teaching a college course on anthropology in the far future and when her students ask if she was really there as a joke she just does that signature Aradia smile and continues with the lecture.

- Tavros breaks off from the friend group to do his own thing and gets a job as a zookeeper. He’s still better with animals than he is with people, but he’s a lot more confident and happier than he was before. He probably looks the most like his ancestor.

- Sollux was an IT worker before Lilith came to Earth C, hated it, worked at Starbucks for a bit, got called up by Karkat and became a pilot. He’s the “youngest” of the goldbloods (minus the 5000-year time skip) but the best flier and had an easy time passing the entrance exam. He and Karkat are still good friends/rivals, and pretty much everyone in the entire force knows he’s got it bad for their eldritch ally. Everyone in the force is a Solith shipper lol.

-Lyerre is a pole dance instructor, but also works as a stand-in guardian while Lilith’s off doing DF work. He usually teams up with Horrorterror and can kick ass just as well as Lilith can. He also takes on gigs as resturants and bars as a singer, but Lilith usually tags along to keep his siren powers from getting too out of control.

- Commander Karkat is canon in this AU, and he’s one of the main heads of the defense force. He’s long given up on trying to be like his ancestor, and instead leads in his own snappy but well-meaning way. He works with Lilith a lot to help keep the citizens safe when she has to toss a giant monster into the stratosphere, and she trained him to fight on the side. Yeah, he can try to come off as cool and tough (dude hit one hell of a growth spurt during his adult molt and still lords it over his friends) but everyone knows that he’s a total softy deep down thanks to Dave.

- Nepeta also joins the defense force and is one of their best fighters. She and Equius are roommates and he frets constantly when she goes off on business trips and stuff. She has a huge celebrity crush on Lilith.

- Kanaya works with the Mother Grub, but also makes clothes as a side job. She’s gotten offers from companies, but so far has turned them all down. She doesn’t work with the defense force, but Karkat will call her up if the threat is small enough in size for her to handle. When they first met her, his squad mates thought she was his mom.

- Terezi went to law school and pretty much turned the entire justice system on its’ head overnight. She is Earth C’s most insightful, un-biased, cutthroat, take-no-shit judge, and every defense attorney and lawyer trembles in her presence because no amount of defense is getting your child murderer client out of this one Jimmy don’t even try her. They say she can smell a lie from a mile away, and they are 100% right.

- Vriska also joins the defense force and is possibly the scariest soldier they have. She mostly deals with normal threats and is head of her squadron, but also helps with planning and strategizing. She has a one-sided rivalry with Lilith, who keeps unintentionally one-upping her by putting yet another giant monster in a chokehold. Oops.

- Equius works with Dirk at the mech shop. He’s learned to better control his strength, and lets off steam by going to the gym and working out. There’s a specific section built exclusively for indigobloods since they’re naturally stronger than the average troll, so he goes there and has made some new friends. Nepeta tags along a lot and is happy that her moirail is branching out socially.

- Following the removal of LE and Apofis from his mind and going into rehab for the effects of the sopor (new planet, new medical practices ye), Gamzee kind of drifted around for a bit before tagging along with Tavros. He’s still figuring himself out, but he’s doing much better with the help of Tavros and occasional check-ins with Lilith to make sure LE and Apofis are gone for good. He also works at the zoo atm.

- Eridan “begrudgingly” joined the defense force and got a job in the maritime squadron. He’s their main navigator and is usually the one to plot out courses for patrols and go along on marine-based missions.

- Since she’s no longer obligated to become Empress, Feferi’s been able to branch out and ends up getting a job at the aquarium. She takes care of the animals and secretly uses her healing powers to patch them up if they get scratched or bump into things. She gets really emotional when she has to release the ones she takes care of back into the wild but has learned that sometimes it’s for the best. She helped Aradia find some stuff from a submerged section of what used to be New York and they’ve been close ever since.

-Lilith’s job is basically get beat up and keep everyone from dying. Luckily, the eldritch entities pay her well.

Driving

John: He’s a fairly good driver when he doesn’t want to fly, he just hits the brakes and the gas too hard sometimes. He also has no fear of tight turns. He will go 40 around a hairpin bend. “what do you mean, it’s not normal to have your body jolt from side to side while you’re driving?” He’s never been in an accident.

Rose: Legit has no fear of death. Also, she’s a New Yorker, so that automatically means she’s mediocre at best. Merges in as tight a gap as she can possibly manage. “I would have had plenty of space if you had only paid attention!” Listens to podcasts and audiobooks during long trips. Forgets to turn them off when the cops pull her over. Pays her tickets.

Dave: Decent. Plays the radio, but not very loudly. Has been known to switch on cruise control and put his feet up on the dashboard. Fell asleep while driving once. He woke up and saw that his car had been totaled and that there was lots of shrapnel in him, so he went back in time to fetch his past self out of the car before succumbing to his wounds. He is haunted by the experience to this day. Has never gotten a ticket.

Jade: Has never been in a car before. Never wants to get in a car. Dave makes fun of her, like, “all dogs love car rides and im sure youd love sticking your head out the window” but that only makes Jade more determined to avoid car rides like the plague. She teleports everywhere. She teleported to a hospital once and legit gave the nurse a heart attack.

Jane: Drives very well. Obeys all the rules of the road. Stays five over the speed limit. She keeps her car clean as a whistle: she makes everyone knock off their shoes before getting in her car, and God forbid if you eat anything. She probably has one of those “St. Christopher Protect Us” visor clips despite not being Catholic. (She’s Lutheran.)

Roxy: Is Not Safe. Has been in at least three accidents. Blasts rock music. One time [this is based on a true story], she was pulling into the driveway with her radio blasting away, and Dave, Jake, and Karkat were outside, and they started waving at her because there was something scraping the ground on the underside of her car. Her response? Turn the music up EVEN LOUDER, drowning out the scraping, and wave back.

Dirk: Excellent driver. Forgets to use turn signals. Occasionally drifts around corners, but only when nobody’s around. Occasionally puts Lil Cal in the passenger seat so he can use the carpool lane. For whatever reason, doesn’t ever let anyone ride with him.

Jake: Is a surprisingly good driver. Sometimes, he’ll get carried away with talking to his passengers and will have to be reminded to keep his eyes on the road. He uses one foot for the gas and the other for the brake, so occasionally, there’ll be this terrible grinding noise when he tries to brake. Put diesel in his car once. [Also based on a true story.] Nobody will let him live it down.

Aradia: Drives decently well, but does NOT put her hands on the wheel. She turns it with her telekinesis. She says “it helps me get a better feel f0r the car”. She has received numerous tickets. She does not care. The government can’t catch her if they can’t find her.

Tavros: Can’t legally drive because of his paralysis. He’s afraid of cars, partly due to his aforementioned paralysis. “dON’T YOU KNOW, hOW MANY PEOPLE, gET INJURED IN CAR ACCIDENTS,” Jade is more than happy to teleport him wherever he wants to go.

Sollux: Doesn’t have a license. Carpools with Aradia all the time. Knows how to drive in theory (because Video Games), but doesn’t. In video games, he’s fast and very prone to drifting, but somehow never crashes ever, except in the most extreme of situations.

Karkat: Doesn’t own a car. Very good driver. Complains constantly about all the other drivers. I mean, he’s good, so he’s justified? But still? Sometimes, he slows down in front of particularly pernicious vehicles just because he can. Slows down but does not actually stop at stop signs. Sings along with the radio.

Nepeta: Chaos driver. Makes U-turns whenever and wherever she wants. Goes out of her way to run down squirrels. (But not deer, because Equius would throw a fit.) Gets serious road rage. Honk at her? The next ten seconds of your life will be hell. Her car’s a legit mess.

Kanaya: The go-to carpool lady, if you're not in a rush. Very safe driver. Always drives the posted speed limit. Doesn’t move from the right lane, ever. Has threatened to turn Aradia in to the government. “Dont Make Me Turn This Car Around” Plays show tunes and sings along. Karkat and Roxy will join in.

Terezi: Legally blind and cannot drive. Is still a backseat driver. Every once in a while, she’ll yell “R4C3 R4C3 R4C3″ or something. Five minutes later, she’ll accost the driver for not using turn signals. Nepeta let her try driving one whole time, in an empty Target parking lot at 3 in the morning. It... went surprisingly well. They almost crashed into a line of shopping carts, but it still went well.

Vriska: Her license was suspended a year ago. Don’t ask why. She’s currently plotting to get it back.

Equius: Excellent driver. Stays 5 over the speed limit. Fixes everyone’s cars, so long as the customer does him a favour in return. His car is immaculate, somehow, despite letting the likes of Nepeta into it.

Gamzee: The epitome of not caring. Drifts over lanes. Coasts through red lights. Has miraculously never been in an accident. Has been pulled over multiple times but has never been arrested. The police are afraid of him for some reason. Tries to charge people to carpool with him, but nobody ever wants to.

Eridan: Pretty good. He also has a boating license. Never uses windshield wipers, for some reason. Is actually fond of hydroplaning? NEVER ride with him when there’s precipitation.

Feferi: CHAOS DRIVER ROAD RAGE GET OUT OF HER FREAKING WAY

Calliope: Very good. A little too tentative sometimes. Never takes a turn faster than like 5 mph. Not overly fond of driving. Doesn’t have her own car.

Caliborn: Reads your bumper stickers to decide whether or not to cut you off. Has his brights on in the middle of the day. Goes 30 mph in parking lots. So basically, not horrible, but also very jerkish.

This is my first time sending a request so sorry is this doesn't fit/abide by the rules. So Zombiestuck au. Who do you think would live or die? How do you think it would play out?

Ok I have no idea how zombie stuff works (since like the only things with zombies I came across was a webcomic) so sorry but I really have no idea what people do and how it works?

Zombiestuck

Beta kids

The beta kids stick together no matter what. They have a base where they spend most of their time.

It is protected by Jade who has her sniping spot where she gets all the zombies who try to get in even though their base is allways well locked its no better to be safe than sorry.

The rest is just improving the base from the inside. However when it's clear from zombies John and Dave are setting outside traps.

Jade is also trying to plant food and is taking really good care of it.

But of course they sometimes need to go out for supplies and they allways go as a group.

They actually avoid fighting if possible while they are out since they can't be sure how many zombies are out there.

When they see other people they try to help them in any way they can. Since it's only human to help others in such tough times.

But those terrible conditions don't stop them from goofing around in their base. After all it's easier to keep your sanity if you have fun from time to time.

In the end they all survive and save few people from other groups too.

Alpha kids

Dirk managed to make few robots that were protecting their base but the base itself wasn't in perfect conditions (and Dirk tried to fix that) still the robots never let any zombie inside.

Jane also tried to set many traps around just in case and so far it was enough to keep everything away.

Jake and Roxy are taking care of gardening and wich was the most reliable food source. But they still needed to go out for other supplies from time to time.

Dirk mostly volunteered to go alone but Jake allways went with him or whoever decided to go.

They took this a bit too seriously and so the atmosphere in their base was a bit awkward expecially when Jake or Roxy tried to light up the mood.

In the end they all survived but they didn't let their guard down.

Beta trolls

They weren't doing very good job. While their base was well equipped and had very good defense they couldn't cooperate well. Karkat tried to be a good leader and keep everything together but things started collapsing quickly.

Vriska often left the base without notifying anyone. She allways came back with more supplies.

But her reckless behavior often brought zombies to the base and so Eridan had to take care of it since she allways brought the zombies to area of the base Eridan was defending.

Nepeta and Equius were Frontline fighters and so when a bigger group of zombies approach they actually risk a lot.

Feferi tried to cheer others up while taking care of any injuries. But of course the zombie bites.

Nobody knew what Gamzee Terezi and Aradia were doing to be honest and even if someone asked them none of them gave proper answer.

Sollux was doing a lot of things at once. He was defending helping Karkat with making decisions and tried to contact other people. But even though he was doing all that if anyone complained about a thing he whould just be stop out of spite.

Kanaya was also doing most of the work but she actually did everything without thinking too much about it.

And Tavros just felt useless... He tried to help around but he actually didn't do much but set up few traps around.

One day he did that he got caught off guard but Aradia reacted in time and managed to save him. However few minutes later Aradia noticed a bite mark and knew that she was fucked.

So she asked to be killed. She observed people around and knew what happened after such bite so it whould be for the better if she died now.

Nobody wanted to kill her but in the end Karkat was the one to be forced to do it.

After this incident Tavros couldn't belive that it was his fault and Vriska being a total bitch wasn't helping either.

Feferi Nepeta and Gamzee tried to help Tavros but he just couldn't listen to it. He knew that it was his fault Aradia died.

But after Sollux yelled at him Tavros managed to get himself together.

Next loss was Feferi who tried to help Eridan with bigger group of zombies Vriska yet again unintentionally brought.

After that Eridan was so mad he tried to kill Vriska at least 3 times. But he was stopped each time by Kanaya.

So he just decided to leave on his own and nobody knew what happened to him.

Next thing that happened was Vriska was getting ready to leave just like Eridan did but she was followed by Terezi their fates were also unknown. 

For some time they were doing pretty well but it couldn't last for long since yet again another person was killed... This time it was Nepeta.

Her and Equius were guarding the base outside and they were doing great job holding all the zombies off but she got bitten by one zombie she thought she took down.

At first she didn't notice that but when no zombie was around Nepeta just then looked at her leg that had a bite mark on it.

She panicked when she saw it and she knew what it meant. So she didn't keep it a secret and just told Equius about it.

He blamed himself for this and as she begged him to kill her he couldn't do it. So Gamzee did it instead.

After that Equius was even more brutal towards the undead and he destroyed any threat not carrying if he lives or dies.

He actually survived and never got bitten becouse he hit so strong and so fast that even if more than 10 zombies attacked him at once he still whould get out of the situation unscathed.

So in the end Sollux, Tavros, Karkat, Kanaya, Equius and Gamzee survived. Aradia, Feferi and Nepeta died. Eridan, Vriska and Terezi were separated from the group and were nowhere to be found.

Dancestors

They couldn't do anything right everything was in chaos and the only ones that seemed to care were Rufioh Aranea Porrim and Kankri.

Meenah was bearly ever seen in the group and she was just constantly exploring. So nobody whould even notice if she died. But she did say that she was going to join someone else instead and since then nobody heard from her.

Aranea sometimes hoped that she whould see Meenah again but she knew it was impossible so she just tried to make everything work.

Latula just tried to protect Mituna and try to lift the spirits up for everyone.

Kurloz was also in Mituna protection squad but nobody knew what in the flying fuck him and Meulin were doing. They just stood in one place and talked about God knows what.

Cronus tried to help but he wasn't sure what he was doing.

Horrus was just working on traps and ended up setting so many it was almost impossible to go outside without risking getting killed by one. But he knew the way around them and had all memorized.

And Damara was basically just doing the same thing that was happening before the apocalypse.

First death was Horrus who was attacked by bigger group of zombies while he tried to measure few things to add few more adjustments to the base itself so it whould be indestructible. He of course held them off but since he was caught off guard he couldn't get out without getting bitten.

Shortly after Cronus died while he, Porrim and Rufioh went for more supplies. He was a sacrifice that needed to be made in order for other two to live.

Next death was shortly after and it was Damara.

She wasn't taking it seriously from start to finish (but still did better job than others). She was outside doing nothing worth noting and killing each zombie she saw one time there was just too many of them.

After that things only got worse. But fortunately nobody died... Yet.

The thing is Rufioh got bitten but he didn't tell anyone. He was scared but in the end he knew that it wasn't going to end well either way.

He managed to keep it a secret but soon enough Porrim found out and she couldn't handle it calmly. So in the end he got both yelled at and killed.

In the end Aranea, Kankri, Porrim, Meuiln, Kurloz, Mituna and Latula survived. Meenah ran away. Rufioh, Horrus, Damara and Cronus died.

I just wanted you to know that I just read all your hellmurder castle 'verse posts and I LOVE THAT AU SO MUCH

what you have to understand about my Hellmurder Castle AU (Homestuck set in the world of Girl Genius, if you haven’t read it) is that it was born specifically from my spite exasperation with all the long, epic AUs about either only the trolls or the trolls + beta kids, with alpha kids appearing as background characters at best and often not at all. Many of these fics are great, and many of them were written or at least planned before the alpha kids even appeared in canon, in which case it’s not the authors’ faults at all. But I LOVE my alpha kids, and Roxy may be my favorite and Dirk is a delight, but I was ALSO tired to tears of how even in fics featuring the alpha kids, it was almost always Derse-heavy.

So I basically said “fuck it”, yeeted them all into the world of Girl Genius (which was inevitable), figured out the torrid backstory of the beta kids and ancestors and how the dancestors and trolls fit in, and set about focussing the plot and character development exclusively on the alpha kids, particularly Jake and Jane. Particularly particularly Jake, because a) I thought him more underappreciated than Jane, and b) the idea of a Heroic Adventurer who constantly has to resist his own reflex to be a minion is fucking funny.

Let’s elaborate, shall we? Because I’m okay again, after the epilogue. I have forgiven. So, the hypothetical pfennig novels/fics in a series:

Jake English: Escape from Castle Lalonde

In which Jake leaves home, and meets a number of interesting people.

covers from basically that scene of Roxy capturing him through Jake escaping with Jane, and them agreeing to be adventuring partners. A lot of the middle consists of Jake helping Roxy and Dirk win back Roxy’s ancestral home of Castle Lalonde, defeating whatever villainous spark - probably an OC - had taken up residence.

Jake means to leave, but Roxy and Dirk need help cleaning up, and getting their labs running, and with interesting projects…and possibly they put a shock collar on him so he can’t leave the grounds…or at least tell him that’s what the collar does, and prove it, like, twice, and then turn it off because they don’t actually want him crippled in an emergency; mostly he’s just a great minion and Roxy is pretty sure he’s destined to be part of their team for defeating the Batterwitch, as laid out in the obscure and highly metaphorical prophecy her mother left her in a wizard book.

this is not at all good ground for either friendship or a healthy minion/master relationship, which is why Jake is pretty damn game to help Jane escape and then run away with her.

Jake English and the Red Miles

in which…I actually have barely any memory of wtf is supposed to happen in this one. Presumably, they have to survive the Red Miles at some point, with some ridiculous series of revivificationsthe trolls show up at Jake and Jane’s camp (okay fine, I love them, too), and after some alarmed mutual weapon-pointing, explain that Jake’s grandmother, Lady English, made them after Jake left, except now she’s died so they’ve come to find Jake and either bring him home or, at least, join his adventuring team and keep him safe

(yeah, Jade instilled some loyalty, which is Sketch. In fairness, when she lost control of the original generation of trolls, all her best friends were killed and/or disappeared, presumed dead. she has reasons)

I wonder if there was supposed to be a timeskip between this and the previous book, or if Escape from Castle Lalonde happened later into Jake going out adventuring than I think, or if Jade just got bored and made 12 new people like…3 hours after Jake left home

for pacing, the trolls should probably show up pretty early in this story, so they have a long time to be around before shit hits the fan

a lot of this book, aside from whatever shenanigans they’re dealing with re: Red Miles, would be Jake dealing with the fact that he is suddenly responsible for 12 people who keep looking to him for orders, and somewhere in the distance is an entire town (Hellmurder Village) that’s likewise.

they do not go back to the Castle at the end of this book, even though they arguably should bc Jake has responsibilities. But he also has adventuring to do, by golly, and…hm, it’s one of the Rings that causes the Red Miles, isn’t it? So maybe they get it at the end of this book, and now they have to track down the other one. Which brings us to…

Jake English and the Rings of Skaia

In which Jake and Jane (and Roxy and Dirk, and 12 young trolls) explore a castle, learn a little history, and generally level up their friendshipsI split up the aspects of Castle Heterodyne in this au: Jake has the recently inherited Castle with the terrifying, nigh-magical power source buried in its depths, and Jane has the abandoned derelict that is fully sentient, most automated, and even more malicious than it is trapped. This is the story of that castle, and the Ring of Life hidden somewhere in it

Jack Noir. The castle’s sentience is Jack Noir. Or perhaps more accurately Spades Slick? Who cares.

I had a very elaborate mythology/history thought up at some point about the twin spark queens of Derse and Prospit and their great enmity, and the saga of betrayal and heroism that marked their reigns and left behind this castle and two super magical scientific rings of power, and I do not remember ANY of it now.

This is the bit where that scene of Dirk ripping out Vriska’s soul comes from. He and Roxy are here for the fabled treasure as well - possibly the castle only appears/is accessible at certain specific times? And they don’t know the trolls are with Jake, so…clusterfuck, there.

Jake English and the Troll Queen

in which the big bad is reveeled

there’s trouble brewing in the countryside, idk, monsters or pirates or something that can be traced, after some investigative heroing, to the self-styled Her Imperial Condescension, still unfortunately at large

mostly this fic is Jake growing into leadering a little more but also addressing the question of that inbuilt loyalty Jade gave this generation of trolls, because really, that was Sketch - and in general, who are we as people defined by who we follow, what groups we ally ourselves with; is it birth or genetics or who raised us or the family we choose or…

i kinda think Dirk and Roxy are conducting concurrent but generally not overlapping investigations to Jake&Jane’s(+the trolls) (dirk and roxy having pretty neatly answered all the above questions years ago by choosing each other, but still being kind of insular about it, and need to relax just enough to trust other people)

in the end there’s some confrontation with the Condesce and she convinces ½-2/3 the trolls to join her bc, honestly, why shouldn’t they

Jake English and the Castle in the Lake

in which…okay, in this one bit of fic I implied her base was in the ocean but I totally had this title written somewhere, so what is the truth??

in the above linked scene, the trolls who stayed with Jake and Jane were Karkat, Terezi, Kanaya, Gamzee, and Feferi, but idk about that. If Feferi’s there, why isn’t Sollux? And, like, Aradia would probably have just fucked off in her own direction completely, given the chance…

our heroes are trying to sneak into HIC’s base and disable it, okay. that is the plot of this one. probably they have to find it first, which is tricky, and basically a D&D dungeon crawl, and that’s before Jane gets tiara’d. Which definitely happens climactically. and then everyone else gets captured, with the possible exception of Dirk, who probably gets beheaded instead. things do not look good for our heroes…

Jake English and the Lost Hero

in which we find out exactly what happened in the previous generation

maybe even alternating chapters, past/present? 

what happened basically is that the first generation of trolls, the Ancestors, went absolutely batshit roughly as per homestuck canon. The Condesce, being OP, started just conquering land. She was stopped, eventually, mostly by the epic sacrifice of Rose and Dave. And John…except Rose and Dave’s bodies were found, and in a clusterfuck of inventions warping time and space and reality itself, John’s never was

Jade survived, of course. obviously.

John did, too, it is revealed. He was just disconnected from the time-space continuum, stuck popping up in random times and places, sometimes close to those he loved and sometimes not, mostly uncontrollable…

he’s appeared here and there throughout the stories, probably, a mysterious figure in blue who nearly has time to say something before dissolving into fizzing wind. Now he appears more frequently, and for longer periods as the story goes on, including just enough to help break Roxy and Jake out of prison. And whichever trolls were stubbornly sticking with them - if the Condesce wasn’t just mind-controlling all the reluctant ones…let’s be real, she was…lotta “I know you’re in there somewhere” fights here, probably

also, Vriska reveals herself to still be trying to help our heroes, because it is SO Vriska to try to double-cross Her fucking Imperious Condescension

this double-cross is revealed partly from her using Jake’s minioning safeword that he developed with Grandma Jade, way back when; meaning roughly “I don’t want to do this but I’m not sure I can stop”. It’s pumpkin, of course.

they revivify Dirk on the way out, and either stop in the Condesce’s lab to get sparkily distracted trying to pin John into reality or they make it back to Hellmurder Castle before doing that?

What am I saying. The Condesce is probably working on some spacetime-warping tech of her own, and Roxy, Dirk, and Jake use it to fully anchor John for the first time in…who knows, subjectively? It’s possible he stays behind to buy them time to run

in the denoument Jake awkwardly invites everyone to live in Hellmurder Castle, because he feels vaguely like he should stay and look after it, and of course he wants his chums around. Jane, Roxy, and Dirk are all like, “well, a real lab or seven would be amazing…but also…adventuring. Why don’t YOU come with US?” Jake is like, “oh JEEPERS yes!” The trolls and dancestors meanwhile talk out among themselves who genuinely wants to stay and who wants to go out adventuring, either with these idiots or just to make their own way

aradia is half italian, half black, with olive toned, light brown skin and dark brown eyes. she has long, curly brown hair that she does not brush or comb. she’s tall, about 5’10, and thin, with minimal curves, though she is not stick-thin. she often plays d&d with tavros, vriska and terezi. her closest friends are feferi and tavros, with whom she likes to larp and play videogames. she has an outstanding interest in archaeology and collects dead insect wings. she also dabbles in self-taught taxidermy. she’s odd, but fairly friendly, so she’s well-liked at school and amongst her friends. she lives with both of her parents and is an only child. her cousin damara lived with them through highschool, but the two of them didn’t get along very well. she has a sheepdog named frogger, who she takes on her adventures to potentially haunted places. 

tavros is mexican and has hesitant speech with a fairly heavy accent. he’s got tanned skin and dark brown hair styled into a fohawk and brown eyes. he’s got freckles scattered across his face and nose. he’s fairly small, standing at only about 5’6, and his chest is thin with a tiny amount of pudge collecting at his tummy. he also has fairly muscular arms, from after his accident, when he was wheelchair-bound. he, vriska, terezi,and aradia were in a car accident their freshman year, killing his mother and causing his legs to be amputated from the knee down. he has robotic prosthetics gifted to him by the members of his school’s robotics club. he is very interested in disney, particularly peter pan, pokemon, and likes to watch anime. his best friends are aradia and nepeta. he also has a service/emotional support dog, a pomeranian named tinkerbell. he’s also vegetarian. 

sollux is half korean, half swedish and has both heterochromia and a lisp. he doesn’t show much of the swedish side at all, with his olive toned skin and black hair, which he keeps fairly shaggy. he doesn’t like to cut it. his twin sister is nepeta, but he doesn’t spend a ton of time with her. his closest friends are karkat and feferi, who he sort of both hates and loves simultaneously. he has bipolar disorder and forgets his medication fairly frequently, despite leaving post-it’s all over the house to help him remember. he likes to play video games and code things and he’s pretty good at it, which is a fact he doesn’t let people forget. he’s tall, 6’0, and very skinny because his diet consists of coffee and cheetos for the most part. he has debilitating migraines and a tendency to have somewhat prophetic dreams, so anytime he has a nightmare, he feels paranoid beyond all belief. 

karkat is half indian, half greek, which evens out his skin tone so he’s in between light and dark skinned. his eyes are hazel and he has thick, heavy eyebrows. he actually has a very pleasant looking face, appearing very approachable until he opens his mouth. he has a very grating sense of humor, which tends to hurt people’s feelings, but he doesn’t really mean any of the harsh things he says. he enjoys watching romcoms and helps his girlfriends paint their nails and braid their hair and does so with only a traditional karkat grumble of it being too much effort, not that it’s emasculating. his closest friends are dave and sollux, which he would never admit because he is too busy pretending that he hates their guts. he considers himself the leader of their friend group and so does everyone else, relying on him for begrudging advice and tough love, despite really being a softie underneath it all. he’s fairly tall as well, 6’0, but pretty thick and slightly muscular. he doesn’t work out a ton, just enough to keep himself toned. he is the only other person to join nepeta and equius in their daily gym routine. 

nepeta is sollux’s twin sister, so she is also half swedish and half korean. they are fraternal twins and she picked up all of the swedish genes. all of them. so many swedish genes. she’s fairly small in stature, barely scraping 5’4 and has short, honey blonde hair and blue-green eyes and thin lips. she also had a cleft palate when she was younger and has a scar on her upper lip from getting it fixed. she’s very muscular and tough, and extremely strong despite her small size. she has a full six pack. her closest friends are equius and tavros. for the most part, she spends her time with equius working out and arguing and utilizes her time spent with tavros to practice her other hobbies, like larping and d&d. she has a pet cat that she named pounce de leon and she takes her for walks, which she enjoys. 

kanaya is armenian and originally from england, and so has an accent. she has short ink-black hair and hazel eyes bordering on the green side. she is very elegant and wears a full face of makeup everyday, with dark lipstick ranging in tone from ruby to emerald to black sometimes. she likes to practice her makeup skills on her friends, including the boys, which, excluding eridan, will not let her. she is a lesbian and is out and fairly proud of her identity. her mother is a fashion designer and kanaya is following fast in her footsteps. she enjoys spending her time gardening and reading erotic vampire romance novels, which she shares with karkat. her closest friends are karkat and vriska, both of whom she fusses over and drives them absolutely crazy. she has a penchant for knitting and gives her friends homemade scarves for christmas every year. it’s a tradition. she’s fairly bottom heavy with curvy hips and a small chest, which brings her great embarrassment. she also has very long legs and is quite tall, standing at about 6’1. 

terezi is korean and adopted by her mother’s friend. this friend happens to be the mother of the person she has dubbed her scourge sister, vriska. terezi is slight and made of all angles and bones and stands at 5’7. she wishes she was taller, because she’d be a more threatening presence that way. she has braces, always with bands colored teal and red. she has black hair and dark brown eyes and is so thin because she exists on a diet of sugary snacks and that alone. she’s the captain of the school’s debate team because she refuses to admit defeat. she has an albino ferret called chief deputy pyralspite, which serves as the mascot of the debate team. her best friends are karkat and sollux, who she consistently harasses and refuses to leave alone. her hobbies include mock trials, eating fruit snacks, and searching abandoned buildings with aradia, in the hopes of catching a spook. she thinks it would be fun. 

vriska is 6’2 and thin. not quite as thin as terezi but she’s still very angular. she has long blonde hair that she dyes blue at the ends with kool-aid and dresses in baggy flannels and t-shirts that do nothing for her. she’s of swedish descent and looks it, with her extremely pale skin and hair. she’s adopted sisters with terezi and latula and the younger sister of aranea. things get more complicated when you throw in her step brothers, eridan and cronus. her mother married their dad when she was in 7th grade and she’s been spitefully teasing eridan ever since. she’s lanky and awkwardly built and doesn’t have much charm about her but makes up for it by meddling with her friends. she lost and eye and her arm in the car accident she was in freshman year and sometimes she thinks her left arm still itches. it doesn’t cause it no longer exists. her closes at friends are tavros and kanaya, who she likes to mess with. she likes spiders and creepy crawlies and often can be found begrudgingly helping aradia find them. 

equius is tall and exceptionally broad at 6’4. he has long hair that he wears down all the time despite his tendency to sweat and really likes horses. he really likes them. he works out daily with or without nepeta, and defends her daily. he’s odd and people find him vaguely off-putting more often than not. he has a weird obsession with gamzee that nepeta insists is a crush. his best friends are nepeta and gamzee, despite his inability to either take it easy or smoke weed. he finds most of his friends to be bothersome but he likes them anyway. he’s native american and has black hair and eyes that are bordering on black as well. 

gamzee is a stoner. he’s exceptionally tall, 6’7, and very very thin, despite constantly eating. he’s dark skinned with vitiligo and tends to have a slow reaction time. he’s weird but he’s so nice that everyone likes him except his friends, who sort of hate and love him at the same time. his attempts to learn to ride the unicycle have all ended in failure but he is determined. his best friends are tavros, who raps with him, and karkat, who pretends to be unable to stand him. he has wild messy hair and giant hands. he’s a juggalo and listens to icp and loves them, despite being nonviolent. 

eridan is from australia and has a watered down aussie accent that he tries to make as english sounding as possible. he’s on the swim team with feferi and has thick muscles and a broad chest. he’s 6’3 and actually very handsome, with an angular face and a sharp nose. he wears huge glasses and dyes a chunk of the front of his hair blonde, which offsets his attractiveness. his hair is medium brown and his eyes are a bright shade of hazel. he’s half indian, half white and so his skin is deep medium brown and covered with soft freckles that he is embarrassed about. he loves history class and is also on the debate team and is the only person who can even come close to arguing terezi down. he enjoys watching war documentaries and actually appreciates historical musicals (exhibit a: fiddler on the roof). he enjoys all of his friends, despite pretending not to, and he will participate in all of their hobbies with them. he often comes across as pretentious but has been dialed back a lot by the teasing of his friends. his closest friends are feferi and karkat. 

feferi is hawaiian. that’s all. just kidding. she has long curly hair and bright brown eyes. she’s in show choir and on the swim team and the class president and nobody knows how she manages to balance all of them. she’s thick and muscular, about 5’10 and bubbly very consistently. she is one of the few who is rarely annoyed by her friends. she enjoys swimming, exploring and actually quite enjoys playing games with her friends. her closest friends are eridan and sollux who don’t get along very often and constantly bicker despite caring for each other a lot

john has pale skin and black hair and the bluest eyes ever. he’s got a lopsided smile that he wears almost all the time, with those goofy too-big teeth. jade is his older half-sister, with whom he shares a father. he enjoys terrible movies and pulling pranks on all of his friends. no one is safe. he’s known for always joking and never really being serious, unless it’s about whatever movie he’s most recently watched. he’s never seen a movie he didn’t like, with the exception of every movie that karkat likes, mostly to irk him. his closest friends are dave and karkat and he spends most of his time with them. he’s the proud owner of a small golden cocker spaniel named casey. he’s 5’11 and fairly trim due to his fast metabolism. 

jade is john’s older half-sister. they share the same father, who is white, but her mother is a pacific islander. she was raised by her mother until the age of ten, when she passed away. she then moved in with her dad and half-brother, john. jade has long, dark hair and deep hazel eyes. she’s tall and fit from years of adventuring. she often goes barefoot and has very calloused feet and hands. she enjoys gardening and has a strong love for animals. her closest friends are tavros and feferi. she’s tal, 6’0, taller than john, which bothers him, of course. she was gifted a white german shepherd named bequerel for her thirteenth birthday. 

dave is tall, 6’2,  lanky and pale with little muscle mass to be found. he’s not albino and has light blonde hair and reddish brown eyes. he spends most of his free time mixing songs that he shows to no one. he explores haunted places with aradia and they share a mutual fondness for dead things. more than anything else, he enjoys giving his friends a hard time. he enjoys swords and takes up boxing his freshman year, which he’s surprisingly good at. he joined the debate team with terezi purely for shits and giggles but ended up enjoying it far more than he expected. he’s the proud owner of a pug dubbed “the mayor of can town” and a white german shepherd named maplehoof, who is beq’s littermate. 

rose is shorter than her twin brother, standing at only 5’2. she makes up for her lack of height in sarcastic and analytical spirit however, and patronizes all of her friends to the point that they don’t even know if she likes them or not. she does. she has short blonde hair and a  pinched face with thin lips and large eyes. she’s a proud lesbian and is very open about her sexuality. she enjoys reading and actually gardens with jade and kanaya a lot of the time. she’s an enthusiastic knitter, her specialty being sweaters, which she makes for her friends and siblings. she has a sturdy tuxedo cat called jaspers and she likes him but also doesn’t at the same time.

Coin flip timeline

i sent this concept to @hootpoop12 in an anon ask, but since sending it i’ve been thinking about it more and wanted to build on it some more so here i go.

i like to think that at some point before going off to do their missions at the end of homestuck Terezi made Vriska flip a coin and made her promise not to use her luck powers to effect the outcome, one side; Vriska can stay at the lord english battle till the end, the other side; Vriska leaves the fight immediately after deploying the weapon and regroup with everyone else in Earth-C, to ensure that somewhere out there there is at least one post canon offshoot timeline where everyone is together on Earth-C, and since it’s an offshoot it could possibly be free of the kinda narrative influence plaguing the epilogues, idk, also maybe Terezi being there helps some keep their shit together and not turn xenophobic.

in this timeline terezi would join everyone on Earth-C and wait for Vriska there, in the meantime she’d crash with John and live with him since he’d be one of the few who doesn’t already have a roommate of some sort, and cause she like messing with and teasing him.  they’re a little in denial of their black feelings for each other despite them being obvious to everyone else, kinda like Dave and Karkat in the epilogues(Dave and Karkat still being like that in this time line to for a time), John and Terezi joke with each other sometime how they think it’s ridiculous Dave and Karkat haven’t confronted their feelings yet without really realizing they’re in the same boat, Dave and Karkat do the same about John and Terezi.  due to the temporal weirdness of the furthest ring it takes a couple years for Vriska to finally get to Earth-C, when she finally gets there and reunites with everyone and her and Terezi decide to get their ownplace, moving out from John’s is a little awkward and rough for them, but they still find it too hard to confront their feelings, until like a few days to a week later John shows up at Vriska and Terezi’s place asking to move in with them cause he misses terezi busting his balls and hates living in an empty house without her.  Terezi instantly agrees and Vriska also agrees shortly after seeing how much Terezi missed living with and messing with John, they spend a lot of nights watching movies, john showing vriska more of his Nic Cage collection and Terezi and Vriska showing John Troll movies(most they “borrow” from Karkat’s collection)

and since this wouldn’t Alpha Rose or Drik they’d be free off the whole Ultimate self madness(assuming ultimate self stuff only affects the Alpha version of a person, unless awakened by an secondary force like with Dave in ‘Candy’, idk), so no illness for Rose and she’s free to have a happy life with Kanaya, and Dirk wouldn’t go mad by being overwhelmed by the awareness of all his various splinter selves that have found themselves tangled into evil forces, and he’d be free to continue keep bettering himself to avoid becoming someone like Bro from Daves timeline, so he can be a good brother for Dave and friend to everyone else.

it takes Vriska a while to adjust to life on Earth-C but eventually does settle into the freedom of living outside of cannon and not having to adhere to some cosmic purpose kinda like ghost (Vriska) did

Cupid Trolls AU

So with all this talk about cherubs, it got me and the Discord thinking and pulling a collaboration on creating a new AU.

Basically, all of the trolls are cupids. Wings, arrows, and everything, set to spread love all over Earth.

But because they are trolls, there are 4 love quadrants. So there are 4 different types of arrows, one for each quadrant. Getting hit with a heart arrow will create flush feelings, getting hit with a spades arrow creates pitch feelings, etc etc.

cupid!Karkat is one of the best cupids around, knowing the ins and outs of all aspects of love and possible love situations. He is a master of all types of arrows, and uses them in a scientific manner to create the best possible relationships.

It doesn’t help that he keeps accidentally nicking himself with his own arrows, causing him to fall in love with his targets. (Luckily the arrow effects act more as a nudge than permanent love, so it eventually wears off to his usual grumpy self)

cupid!Nepeta is the shipping queen, so she also the master of all the arrows. She takes a more emotional approach to making couples, letting a bit of her fangirlness take over.

Because Nepeta and Karkat are the best cupids, they manage the others and give them assignments. Most would prefer Nepeta because she has the better drawing skills, thus making it easier to find what couple to match. (Karkat tries to act like it doesn’t bother him, but it does).

cupid!Equius is a Moirail Cupid, so only uses Diamond Arrows. Nepeta tries to help him out, but Equius usually ends up breaking the bow and arrow with his strength. To keep up with his work, he just opts to just punch the target with the arrow. This has the unintended effect of knocking out the target as well, but he takes what he can get.

cupid!Feferi is also a Moirail Cupid. She is not only one of the top cupids out there (behind Nepeta and Karkat), but the world’s view and lore of cupids matches Feferi practically perfectly. This makes her as the ideal cupids, and is an unofficial role model for others. 

Both cupid!Terezi and cupid!Vriska are Kismesis Cupids, wielding Spade Arrows. They actually work pretty well together, teaming up to make sure the couples get a “hate at first sight” moment. However, sometimes they will let their own competetiveness get the better of them and start working against each other to see who can match the most pitched couples.

cupid!Tavros is a Matesprit Cupid, who uses Heart Arrows. Though, because he doesn’t have much confidence in himself, he tends to miss the target more times than he hits. It doesn’t help when Vriska suddenly appears from time to time to try and “help” him.

cupid!Gamzee is also a Matesprit Cupid. However, because he keeps eating the clouds that they are on (no matter how many times Karkat yells at him otherwise), Gamzee is about as high as the clouds he keeps eating. The couples that he matches are actually inanimate objects. A car falls in love with a stop sign and refuses to move, a tree loves a house and crashes into it. Karkat swears that Gamzee made his socks fall in love with each other and ran away from his feet.

cupid!Sollux duel-wields. He has arrows for both Matesprit and Moirail Cupids., so he is able to match flush and pale couples. He still likes to keep his binary aesthetic, so he spray paints the Diamond Arrows a pale blue. Party because it makes it easier to pick out which arrows are which, party because it annoys the hell out of Karkat.

cupid!Eridan is a Matesprit Cupid, but hates it. He is able to shoot well and hit one of his targets. But before he can shoot the other, another cupid (usually Sollux) snags them for his own match-making. This results in Eridan’s target having unrequited feelings for the other couple.

This, combined with the fact that he can’t find love in his own life with the other cupids, made him decide to try and match couples for himself. He would steal arrows and shoot his personal targets to make them fall in love with him. This never works, with the target seeing someone or something else first before him, creating more unrequited love. Multiple times he had targets have flushed or pitched feelings for their own reflections.

Eridan doesn’t steal arrows from Karkat. Karkat counts them, and Eridan never manages to get away with it.

cupid!Kanaya is an Auspistice Cupid, so she uses Club Arrows. To make a proper Auspistice couple, she would find her target by an already pitched couple and shoot them. She would also shoot the 3rd party to prevent pitch infidelity, so would usually go out with Terezi and Vriska during their assignments. While she is the best Auspistice Cupid, she doesn’t exactly like her job. Especially when Vriska and Terezi compete into one another and use Kanaya to make sure their couples stay together (points don’t count if they break up).

This usually results to Kanaya periodically stealing Spade Arrows to prevent Pitch Couples, thus no longer requiring her to make an Auspistice. When this happens, Terezi and Vriska usually tone down their competitiveness so give Kanaya a break and get their arrows back.

Karkat blames Eridan for his missing arrows, and Kanaya never bothers to correct him.

cupid!Aradia isn’t actually a cupid at all. While physically she is a cupid, she was always more interested in death than love. So she decided to be a grim reaper and join the reaper ranks in collecting souls. She is still on friendly terms with everyone, and periodically tells them the lives of the souls she collects after they were hit with the arrows.
