ASMR, ASMR, ASMR!
Be it Instagram or YouTube, one incredibly common thing we find these days is ASMR audios and videos. There are documentaries made with heavy crowd fundings and films too (Tertiary Sound, Shut Eye). What is this ASMR? Why is it always on trend?
Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response is abbreviated as ASMR. Often confused to sexual arousal, ASMR is a non-sexual response associated with tingling sensation which starts from center of the brain and extends towards spine and limbs. Jennifer Allen explained this better by describing each term.
Autonomous – spontaneous, self-governed, controlled or uncontrolled
Sensory – all about sensation and senses
Meridian – highest point of development, signifying a peak or climax
Response – refers to an experience triggered by an internal or external source
Tumblr media
Let me simplify, did you ever experience any stimulation while having a haircut, gentle shampooing by the stylist or when a masseur is massaging especially foot or flipping through a magazine or crinkling paper, licking sounds, nail tapping sounds, stirring a bowl with liquid food or any subtle movements? And the aftereffect of this experience is peace, relaxation and contentment, then that response is an ASMR. It is scientifically supported that, it reduces headache, calms mind, therapeutic for depression, anxiety and insomnia.
Still the studies are being continued, ASMR is assumed to have connections with Autonomous Nervous System (ANS) and release of neurohormones like dopamine, oxytocin and endorphins. Interestingly, not everyone has pleasant experiences with ASMR, some find it stressful and irritating while for some, there’s no effect. ASMR creates positivity, helps mental healing, puts us to sleep, things every one of us need and crave for and this satisfactorily supports the hype around ASMR.

Our brains are really weird and complex but can I just say how grateful I am that the "pretty-sounding noise make brain endorphin/dopamine reward system go brrrr" function of our brain has remained intact within humanity throughout its evolution because holy shit music alone has so many times made a shitty day better by making me cry real tears while laughing in pure unfiltered joy and experienced an absolute blasting off into the sky like my entire body is glowing with happiness. And all that just from listening to music - hearing a nice chord progression or something like that, or focusing really hard to hear all components of a song and suddenly feeling/seeing it all like a picture and being overwhelmed with its beauty. Like it's just sound!!! But it can produce a reward response even though it's so different from all the typical things that produce dopamine rewards!!

idk it's just mindblowing to me how an assortment of specific-looking soundwaves, of all things, can cause an individual to feel that kind of strong positive emotional response. think about it. vibrating air makes your inner ear move and then produce nerve signals and you register it as sound and then you feel emotions in response to that sound and those emotions produced could, in real-time, shift your entire perception of reality from negative towards positive. what a fucking wild world we live in i feel like a little kid again looking at the world in wonder and curious awe, wanting to find out everything I can about everything simply because i need to for some reason i don't know other than because it makes me happy.

I've uploaded a new video. This is a relaxing video of the dripping water at Akado in Jindaiji Temple. The sound of water washing away dirt is perfect for relaxing. Try playing it in the background while studying or doing some other work. It's also good for sleep.
【For studying, relaxing, sleeping, and working】The holy water hall purifies the body and mind 【ASMR】

i've got so much respect for what coldplay do
#watching their shows (I watched the music of the spheres live for reference) always reminds me this is what I want to do and am meant to do#and why im working in entertainment#in a way that is very similar to harry's shows I actually think Chris Martin and Harry are very similar performers in some aspects and mum#said so today as well after the screening so that's fun#anyway one day you're watching the msfar video and it's valid and it's true and it's something that needs to be addressed and the other day#you're watching something like that happen so many people being so connected and feeling so alive#and being so filled with love thanks to music and all that Coldplay do and it's not mutually exclusive and never will be#id bet often that's what makes it worth it for people like harry apart from the fact that he loves music so much but that he really is#giving so much to people and sees so much energy and excitement and love and emotions like that's always been what I personally wanted to#do#to be able to make so many people feel so much and feel so passionate about sth and so alive#ANYWAY I DIGRESS#so I grew up with and around Coldplay in the sense that my brother listened to them when they were kinda small and alternative so so much#and I never really came to grasp just how huge they got and yes I know they are the biggest band of the century Alkdjlk but that's the#absolute magic of it#I've got so much respect for how diverse their sound is and the different directions they've branched out into which makes them kind of#universal rather than alienating for certain groups of fans#they do keep everybody happy staying true to their roots and growing and they're feel so /normal/ but larger than life and#there's hardly anyone in this age who's shows will be /this/ healing and huge and life-changing as theirs are and the way they carry it is#unbelievable and Chris Martin in particular is an absolute genius like the energy he has and the humanity he displays is unmatched#they manage to connect so so many people in so many moments and their music branching out does that and so does the way their shows are#built and yet they're not afraid to be political which is so so important which such a huge platform and instead of taking it as a divide#they're using it to connect people like they used such a huge show to perform an iranian song#also people of the pride made me lose it as always Chris Martin ages like fine wine (damn) and I could've done without the puppets#and fix you is one of the greatest songs ever written rant over#wow so many typos excuse autocorrect at the who's instead of whose etc
