A TV Tropes story… not quite a rant

One day, I discovered the character sheets for Degrassi: The Next Generation on TV Tropes, and thought that I could mine them for tropes to flesh out my OCs. However, partway through the first one, I was repulsed by the sheer grimdark, to the point of being glad that I never watched the show. That being said, I do like the idea of mining a character sheet to flesh out my OCs, but Degrassi just might not be the right source for that, probably because it's more of a straight-up drama and my OCs are more dramedic. Does anyone have any recommendations for works that I could mine for this purpose?
