11 for the artist ask : Do you listen to anything while drawing? If so, what?

My music is organized almost by BPM and I listen to playlists, or more often, just the one song on a playlist on loop for hours, that match the pace I want. Composition is fast, line work is slow and colors is about in the middle.

Interestingly, the emotional vibes of the music I want tend to be the opposite of those of the piece. To the point where Husbeast heard me working to the Bollywood dance number playlist and asked who was getting dismembered this time. The worst scene in the fic was written to aqua's Barbie Girl on loop. The cutest critters and tooth rotting fluff are made to an ominous Gothic chanting playlist.

If the Owl House was released in 2016 the very SECOND Caleb was confirmed to have been a character that existed we would’ve gotten 20 Hamilton animatics within the week. Don’t look away. Look at me. We’d have had countless animatics to The World Was Wide Enough with the Wittebane brothers and some would go hard. There would be that one It’s Quiet Uptown animatic about Evelyn after Caleb died and it’d send everyone into shambles. Aaron Burr, Sir would be Luz meeting Eda with the hexsquad done 8 different times and they’d all be made in the same month. Burn. Do you know how many would be made from Burn. I could go on. I need you all to understand that Little Miss Perfect was the tamest plague we could’ve hoped for

Despite me thinking this is really suspicious, i'll tell you.

We are currently trying to figure out these strange coordinates we catched on the radio. I think it might have something to do with the rumours on the south. People think there's dragons there. If there are strange creatures, there must be precious stuff too, right? Roier likes dragons too, so that's another good reason.

I don't mind anything in particular i just like solving the enigmas they put on the way, Roier is who likes the shiny things. I'm more into the "getting there" part of it.

1. Art programs I own but don't use?

I have Corel painter on my computer, apparently, but fuck me if I can remember where I saved it.

3. Ideas from when I was very young that I still use?

There are some OCs I have that have had dozens if not hundreds of incarnations or been projected into blorbos or generally played with like dolls since I was like. Eight?

There's a gentle and often feared and/or tragic giant that is always some sort of massive, beastly thing with the gentlest intentions. It's always huge. It's always sapient. It's always monstrous. It's always kind. It's been a giant feline. It's been a sapient plant large enough to swallow a man. It's been Mewtwo. It's been 800lbs of sapient goo. It's been a lot of dogs.

There is also a character who suffers, but is alright now. They get abandoned. They're beaten and bruised and bullied. They're sick. They're plagued by various ills and persecuted. They often die. But at some point the suffering stops and help arrives.

Sometimes these are the same character. Sometimes the gentle giant saves the sufferer. Sometimes the sufferer saves the giant. But they're two halves of the same hurt- comfort whole, and they always find each other.

probably goes without saying that a) I will be wrong about this b) if I'm not wrong you will never hear the end of it and c) this is speculation but should be treated like a potential spoiler because some people really want to be surprised by needle drops

So in this Collider interview, David said there would be not one, but two Nina Simone songs this season and we've reached the penultimate episode without another one yet. I started thinking about it and the first one was in Stede's Beach dream sequence so it's very possible the second will be on the beach as well.

If it's for the moments when they're running toward each other and/or when they reunite and we get our super romantic beach kiss, I've seen many people suggest "To Love Somebody" and "Wild is the Wind" which are both great contenders. There's actually a lot in Nina's catalogue that would work very well for that moment and make us all cry.

But what if they use it for another moment? The actual fighting? When Ed sees the carnage from his little fishing boat and rushes back to land? Insert other possible beach-set moment? What about "Sinnerman"?

It's frenetic and desperate and builds and builds and builds on itself but also, something about how Blackbeard is described as a/the devil in both seasons. And some lyrics about the sea boiling. And some still half-formed thoughts about sin and the weight of sin and reckoning and the ways characters have been thinking (or not) about their pasts and if one's past can ever be escaped?

Idk I'm not all the way there yet, but I hadn't seen this song come up so I wanted to mention it before next week.

Yeah nothing crazy. kinda predictable i guess. classic rock, country rock, classic blues, nostalgic 60s folk, contemporary stuff when it comes on the radio and isn’t unlistenable by their middle-aged-white-man standards.

oh no no no, I am totally okay with people doing things inspired by my art, thank you! like, a few people have done UM posters for their own characters, and always it's super flattering to see! 💚 as long as you're not straight-up tracing over my art and/or representing my stuff as your own, it's all good.

it can feel kinda subjective sometimes, so if you're ever worried about working off of direct inspiration, or using a reference or something like that, giving credit is pretty much always a sign of good faith. ✌️ but I think it's usually pretty obvious when someone is deliberately trying to misrepresent something as theirs, versus doing a homage or using reference, so no worries!
