I haven't played the game but based on your posts it felt like there were a lot of PegoRyu interactions. Which was your favorite (if any)?

I guess i went insane with the P5/pegoryu spam in general... i can't control the hyperfixation 💀 but yeah, there is a LOT of interactions cause the two are best friends and Ryuji is one of the first characters the protagonist meets! So it's hard to choose a favorite interaction cause there is a lot throughout the games such...

But maybe in P5R in Ryuji's confidant cause of how he thanks Joker for staying with him and not abandoning him... tldr of the story, Ryuji was without a real friend for quite a long time, so you know he really meant that. plus how he says things in his confidant like how he feels free when talking to him and how he's glad he finally found a place to belong and that there was place for Joker too... right next to him... like bro what do you mean?? What did you mean by that?? 😭

Lily working with Mikuni is kind of a twist, but we all know he didn't actually behead Tsurugi right?

Like that's Lily's scythe but his powers literally do not work that way lololol

Buuuuuut his specialty is illusions, so the real twist is maybe Tsurugi and Mikuni were working together all along??

I'm gonna be honest though I don't really get what's going on lol I figured this whole thing Mikuni was doing was to help Tsubaki (shoot Testu to force Hugh to form a contract, so he'll have a contract item that can be destroyed to 'kill' him, go to Alicein house to take out Tsurugi who's one of the only people around who could successfully fight Tsubaki, etc) BUT if he's working with Tsurugi then maybe it'll be what I've been hoping for and he'll end up turning against Tsubaki at the end or something lol

It's just, Lily literally only does illusions?? The scythe doesn't really cut shit?? But why would Tsurugi play along though it doesn't make sense 🤔🤔🤔 Unless he's just knocked out or something lol

I don't know what happened, I don't know if Horikoshi had input or what. But they clearly took a different approach this season. I mean last season had an arc that was SOLELY about the villains, and that wasn't enough for them to get the kind of focus they did this season.

I don't know how to explain it but it's like the anime team finally GETS IT.

Like yes!! The villains are important!! Their connections to the heroes are important!!! Let's draw attention to that NOW since it's like 90% of the focus for the final arc!!!!

Because not only did they focus on the villains, they focused on who they're connected to on the hero side.

Look at Ochacko and Toga, who for the most part don't get much focus in art and extra stuff:

Ochacko (she looks sooo pretty in that first picture 😭) turns around and sees Toga's handkerchief. Ochacko never saw that handkerchief, it was never something that was brought to her attention. But her seeing it here, and then it immediately flashing to:

Toga and Twice, who are connected by the handkerchief. And Twice was Toga's breaking point during this arc, and that breaking point brought her to Ochacko.

I love the way they used that here, it's subtle but it's obvious. 10/10

Then Touya (I wonder what anime only people who really avoid spoilers think of this lolol)

I love how they drew the connection to BOTH of his parents. Not just the one, but both. It really drives it home that it’s not about Touya’s dad. It’s not about Endeavor. It’s about their family. The family Endeavor and Rei both created. All of them are important.

Beautiful, amazing, heart breaking.

The only slight disappointment is the absence of Shouto, but his role becomes much more prominent later. So I’m sure we’ll see them together in openings and endings in the last season.

Then the butterfly, and the dream scape that Shigaraki wakes up from, into a brand new "life form", after sleeping in a cocoon for four months, like a butterfly.

Then we get some moments that aren't in the manga, but expand on what IS in the manga.

Shigaraki looking at all the destruction he just caused with the touch of a hand. Looking like he's thinking.

Then The Trauma, and no more thinking. Time for more destruction.

Then:

I have nothing much to say here. I do love the way they adjusted from the manga panel and made Tenko stand up, just to make it a little different. He's a tad bit taller, even though they're technically the same age in that panel. And I LOVE how they put Tenko in the shadows, and Izuku in the light walking toward the shadows. Just, 10/10. (lol at their current height difference tho, shig is quite a bit taller lmaooo)

Eyes. Looking at the lonely path ahead, both of them.

Again, looking at the lonely, self-destructive path ahead. Both of them.

Anyway—I’m done I think. I wasn’t expecting anything like this. I’m glad I kept my expectations minimal because I get pleasantly surprised.

this is hard !! im going to pick a passage from treading water , specifically from chapter 12 because its <3 so much tension, kurts so desperate….

spoiler warning ? but it makes less sense without context. idk. i just really love this whole chapter.

Sounding firm, “Blaine, I would wait for you.”

Blaine looks up at him, and his reddened eyes narrow. “Kurt,” he shakes his head, “Stop-I’m not that.. naive ,” he stresses the last word, and his hands let go of Kurt’s shirt.

Kurt catches his wrists. “Blaine.” He squeezes them and pulls them back close, over his sternum. From his chest, he asserts, “I want you . In whatever capacity I can have you.” Looking at Blaine’s agony is causing Kurt’s own vision to blur, but he presses on, “In every vision I have of my future, you are in it.” He shakes Blaine’s wrists in his hands, desperate to convey this, to try to get Blaine to understand. “You are it for me. Okay?”

Blaine shakes his head again and squeezes his eyes shut. “Stop. I-I need you to tell me goodbye, so I can move on. Please. That’s all I ask of you.” He whispers, pained, fighting this- “Can you please give me that?”

Kurt can’t. “I’ll always look for you in other people,” he says instead. He loosens his grip on Blaine’s arms.

Blaine rocks his head back and forth, messy hair and flushed cheeks blurring as they pass Kurt’s line of sight, flashing side to side. His voice breaks. “Stop. You can have anybody.” Blaine breaks free from Kurt’s hold, wipes his tear-stricken cheeks with the back of his hand, and returns his palm to Kurt’s torso, laying both of them flat, cupping his shoulders. “You don’t mean that.”

“Blaine, I want you.”

“Kurt-“

Kurt’s arms find the small of Blaine’s back and pull him closer. Again, “I’m sorry.”

Just how did you get yourself into this predicament? 

A/N: Okay! Hi guys, so sorry for not posting but here have the first chapter for this Vanderwood fic, that will have 11 Chapters (maybe a bonus too) in total! Enjoy my crappy fic :)

{Day One}

Your eyes narrowed at the phone. It wasn’t overly old, definitely an iphone of sorts but certainly was one of the older bands. You double checked the address that flared up at you. Practically demanding you to open the door. A gut wrenching feeling of uncertainty settled in your stomach as you stared at the apartment before you. So far the only off putting thing about the scenario was the slightly creepy vibes that you got off of the ‘unknown’ guy. Having one last final debate with yourself you typed in the password and stepped inside.

The apartment was as clean as a crisp, it had the appearance of one of those set-up walk in homes that were trying to make a sell on the real estate market. For a moment you feared this might be a set up to some show. “Hello?” You called meekly, sheepishly peaking your head inside. “Uh, I have your phone?” No answer.

Suddenly, the phone in question buzzed incessantly.

You had just entered a new chat, with people (or so you presumed it was people) who were unaware of your presence. That was until the one labelled 707 started spamming the chat with a string of ‘AAAAH’s. 

707: HOWD ZOU GRT HERE!!!!!!!

yoosung ☆: seven wht u on- OMG STRANGER DANGER?!

ZEN: Seven did you let... someone in?

You watched the chaos unfold in the chat, utterly bewildered. Just who were these... people? Why did it matter you entered their chatroom, it was just a chatroom? Besides it was clear that this phone had the app on it before, so you were just using their phone surely it wasn’t such a surprise... It was the same name after all, right?

MC: Uh... hi?

yoosung ☆: EEP! It talks!!!!!!!

Jumin Han: How did you gain access to our messenger? Luciel?

707: HOLD ON CHECKING CAMERS!!!!

Cameras? You gasped and spun around to the door, searching for the cameras, surely they weren’t spying on you? That’s when your face dropped. There placed perfectly above the door was a small black camera, hidden in the corner of the hallway, unnoticeable if not pointed out. You gave the camera a sheepish wave and held up the phone before typing in the chat.

MC: Sorry to barge in! I was given the address and code to return this phone I found um... who owns this phone?

707: No way... guys she accessed Rika’s apartment. She’s standing there right now in the hallway. 

yoosung ☆: SHEWHAYT!?

*V has entered the chatroom*

Jumin Han: V? Do you know this girl?

Your mind, to say the least, was fried. You hadn’t intended on causing such a ruckus today. In fact, all you wanted to do today was search for a new apartment while you tried to escape the clutches of your crazed, lunatic of a roommate. However, looking at the situation here made you double back on your decisions and debate on retreating to the psycho you deemed your roommate.

MC: UM... look i really mean no bother I really was trying to return this, the guy on the phone told me to come here... does Rika own the phone can I give it to her?

V: MC... is it? Listen there is a cafe down the street from you, would you mind meeting me there? I’ll be there in about ten minutes.

V: Luciel.

707: ...ye?

V: Call me.

*V has left the chatroom*

You stood there dazed. What... just happened? You didn’t even get a chance to interject. The members each seemed just as dazed as you were, still debating with themselves whilst you had an internal argument on the plan to go see this mysterious guy you just met on the internet or bail this crazy scheme entirely. 

Feeling no less unnerved than you had when you arrived you decided your best bet would be to put up with this crazy half thought out plan. Nothing terrible could truly happen. You were meeting him in a public place after all. After bidding these new members a strange farewell you grabbed your bag that lay halfheartedly against the too painfully white walls and headed out in pursuit of this cafe the mysterious V had mentioned. 

You checked the address that V had forwarded to you, making sure once again that this was the place you had arranged. You sat down apprehensively, jumping in the swivel stool as each person entered. You had no idea what he looked like, and until now just realised you had been in fact guessing he was a he, the little icon from your previous chat provided little leeway for your guesses. Your thoughts disturbed when a quiet voice snapped your spiralling queries.

“Hello, I hope you’re MC?” 

Your eyes lifted from your phone taking in the person before you. Your guesses were right; he was a man, and certainly not just any man… he had the face of a model! You could’ve sworn an inaudible ‘wow’ escaped your lips as you took in his dishevelled turquoise locks that curled perfectly into his face and framed his defined cheekbones. And the way in which his eyes slanted ever so slightly, provided him a look belonging to the wise. Oh and his eyes, he had such gentle, kind eyes. Immediately you felt a tension lift from your shoulders (one you hadn’t realise had settled there), as he took away your worries with a soft hum and warm eyes. 

“May I take a seat?”

“Please.”

V ran through a bunch of things, things that left you sitting there utterly bewildered once more. The day just gradually became more and more confusing.

“I would like something to ask of you, MC?”

“Hm?” You hummed politely glancing up to meet his soft gaze from your steaming coffee. “I hope...” He began, voice akin to his kind eyes. “That you would join the R.F.A.”

At that you choked on your sip, dismissing V’s worried hands as he tried to comfort your coughing fit. You? Join them? You didn’t even know these people! It comforted you even less when he insisted you stay in the apartment. Especially after learning that it belonged to his ex-fiancee. You didn’t know how to process this information, much less relay your reluctance about the whole idea to the head of the organisation, no less. However long you took to answer V sat back with a gentle smile, patience evident through his body language. He really did appear like an angel to you. 

“Um... while I appreciate your offer... sir, I really did just want to return the phone.”

“I completely understand.” He returned, same level of confidence and patience unwavering in his words. “I just feel that because of such... unusual circumstances in which you came to find our little app it may prove to be an issue for you.”

“Issue?” You echoed, confusion written in bold letters across your furrowed brows.

“Only a hunch.” He smiled back, once again his warmth evaporating any worries that may have previously infested your mind. Your fingers itched and your knee bounced anxiously beneath the table. “Alright...” You began slowly, swallowing your coffee as you allowed his words to truly sink in. “May I at least think on it, like have a nights sleep and... uhm tell you tomorrow? Or something?” 

“I wouldn’t ask anything more of you.” He nodded contemplating your request. For a moment you feared that he wouldn’t let you go and would kidnap you to be apart of this charity organisation, as though it were a kind of cult. But you were quickly reminded that this was not in fact a movie or soap opera, or drama thing of any kind and in reality things such as cults and kidnappings didn’t happen to ordinary people such as yourself. 

V pushed the little rickety french chair away from the table, the cafe he had chosen seemed to fit him so well. It was petite and had a frenchesque style, something that seemed very befitting to a man so beautiful. “Reach out to me tomorrow, I’ll tell Luciel to grant you access. And for now I welcome you temporarily to the R.F.A, until you’ve made your decision.”

And with that the two of you departed, shaking hands like old friends do.

You slumped back in the chair allowing your brain to catch up with the speed of events. In just three hours you found yourself with a new phone, an apartment to rest in and a job of sorts.

You debated whether or not pinching yourself would bring you any kind of consolation or just a little bruise. Sipping the rest of your coffee you decided to make your way back to the pristine apartment, which to V’s request you would sleep in until you came to your decision. Maybe it was naive of you to trust his kind smile and warm-hearted words. But suddenly you felt a perk to your walk and thought that maybe life could get more sunny afterall.

Kicking the gravel from under his foot Vanderwood stalked up the driveway with a scowl etched onto his handsome features. He was furious. How was it his job to be involved with the stupid red headed brat? It wasn’t like he was the lazy one mucking about. But alas, ever since they’d assigned him to the weird red head kid Vanderwood’s life had been utter chaos. More so than the usual.

Vanderwood banged on the door. “Yo Seven, open this damn thing.” Briefly the air went still and time froze. Raising a fist to continue pounding the gate finally clicked and slowly opened. Vanderwood scoffed. “Trust him to only let me in when he thinks I’m gonna wreck his precious creation.”

Seven spun around to face Vanderwood with a wicked grin. “Oh Mary have you come to look little ol’ me?” He blinked, feigning innocence. Vanderwood folded his arms - thoroughly unimpressed.

“No, I’ve come to tase some sense into that thick skull of yours.” Seven mumbles something unintelligible as her turned back to his screens. Vanderwood momentarily cringed. He truly thought that staring at those screens all day might one day give Seven square eyes. “Jesus, would you look at the state of this place?”

“Mary!” Seven gasped. “That is utter blasphemy.”

“Stop calling me that.”

“To think you’d use such language.” Seven tutted, shaking his red locks to and fro as his fingers stilled. Vanderwood scowled, glaring daggers into the backs of his head. “It’s shameful, Mary.”

“Not my name.” Vanderwood’s eyes lazily drawled over his screens, observing with little interest just what Seven was up to. With an audible sigh Vanderwood realised just why the red had been slacking off. “Are you shitting me? The charity shit? Seven - fuck - I told you before, I’m only letting it slide if you actually do your work.”

Seven remained quiet, his body tensed. Vanderwood knew immediately that Seven was guilty. It didn’t take a genius to read body language. Vanderwood toed a packet of filthy crisps away, he felt a headache coming on. Slipping out his cigarette packet he was determined to let off some steam, figuratively and literally.

“Oh no you don’t.” Seven cut in, spinning in his chair to face Vanderwood with a rare scowl. “If you’re going to do that, smoke it outside.”

“It’s cold.” He retorted.

“Don’t care. My house, my rules.” He waved Vanderwood off, making the latter grumble out in protest. Before the two could begin arguing Seven’s computer bleeped.

“Is that the work for your man? Is it done?” Vanderwood stuffed the cigs back into his pocket, determined to sneak one later.

Seven shook his head. “No, I’m running a background test on someone.” He rubbed his neck sheepishly, mouse clicking across the screen.

“MC…” Vanderwood read her full name aloud, eyes scanning over the rest of her features. Age details, family, job, hobbies. At first glance she appeared to be any other girl, simple and ordinary. He frowned. What did she have to do with anything? Unless she worked for a rivalry agency?

“She’s just regular.” Seven tutted, as though reading Vanderwood’s thoughts. “As suspected… but how’d she even manage to get in then?”

“In?”

Congrats you can be that Dames Bond you rave about.”

“Vanderwood.” Seven cut in, incredibly serious for a change of pace. Vanderwood raised a brow, debating how likely it would be the younger agent might actually kill him if he smoked in his place.

“I need a favour.”

Thoughts on the final Given chapter

I got my copy of Cheri+ so these are just some thoughts after using my basic Japanese and piecing together the panels with Keru's wonderful twitter translation.

-- SPOILERS AHEAD --

I was hoping for a cover illustration of Mafuyu AND Ue together but I'm okay with solo Mafuyu too. This was ultimately the story of his grief, discovery, and growth, so to see him smiling at the end of it all is so beautiful. He's surrounded by cherry blossoms, which symbolize change and a new season, and is set against the ocean, which holds special meaning in both of his relationships. I cry.

The fold out poster (pictured above) is so cool!! I really want to cut it out of the magazine and display it somewhere but I'm afraid I'll mess it up...

Given debuted, rejoice!

It's really nice that Kasai wasn't just cast aside as "that jealous girl" competing with Mafuyu for Ue (although she never stood a chance lol) and grew to become kind of a confidant and supporter for him. They may not fully understand each other, but they share a mutual respect and provide little bits of unexpected encouragement for each other and it's so wholesome.

Hiiragi being a menace but also sparkly, usual stuff. It's so funny because Hiiragi and Ue don't get along on the surface (two ore-sama types am I right), but they totally jive as artists, which is why Ue will continue playing support - and "ONLY SUPPORT" says a very bitter Mafuyu - for SYH.

I'm surprised at how little Haruki and Akihiko showed up in the chapter, but we did get crumbs that Haruki is apartment hunting~ They are so stable, just get married already.

When Keru initially tweeted that a significant portion of the chapter covers something she was hoping would happen but wasn't sure if it would, my mind immediately went to the gutter and assumed it was RitsuMafu sex lolol. It wasn't just me, right???

Anyways, they went to the BEACH. Mafuyu has gone to the beach with Yuki, but they went during the biting cold of winter and weren't "officially dating" so they didn't really do date-y stuff. His experience with Ue was totally different. There's several pages of them just eating and having fun, and they look like they can't get enough of each other.

Ugetsu calling Mafuyu out of the blue to thank him for the CD was really sweet. When I initially watched and read the series up to the end of the AkiHaru arc, I wasn't too big on Ugetsu and I actually thought that he was romantically interested in Mafuyu and would stir things up or cause trouble. Clearly I was wrong, and I'm glad. Their friendship is so valuable for both of them as two musical geniuses who are a bit socially awkward, and they've taken turns being there for the other when they needed a push, whether it was to say goodbye to an unhealthy relationship or to take a step towards love and music.

Ugetsu's wish to Mafuyu back when Yoru ga Akeru was in the works - about hoping that despite everything that's happened between him and Akihiko, if at least the music could remain - ends up being the driving point of this chapter and the end of the series. Mafuyu tells Ugetsu that he believes that Ugetsu remains in music, and so does Yuki, even if he can never see him again. When Ue comes back and kisses Mafuyu before offering him a drink, Mafuyu muses that someday, he'll probably forget this moment too, and that's why he wants to keep making music. It ties back to his last time at the beach with Yuki, because Yuki insisted that Mafuyu would eventually forget that day, but now with Fuyu no Hanashi and Umi e, these moments are able to live on.

The kiss had me squealing! It's nothing big or grand, but Ue is kneeling and he looks up at Mafuyu for a moment before going in for the kiss. This is such huge growth for Ue~ Their first kiss was a result of his overwhelming emotions after the live, and he didn't even remember it later! When they shared the classroom kiss after their fight, Ue wanted to take initiative but got shy and so it was ultimately Mafuyu who made the move. Now Ue has kissed Mafuyu on his own, in public!!! and with full intent and absolute love and affection. When he pulls away, the look in his eyes is like Mafuyu is the most amazing being in the world and he can't believe he's his. Ughhhhhh.

There is a full blank page of just text that says, "If only everything could stay like this forever." This is what Mafuyu is thinking as they ride the train back from the beach. I found it a weird thought to highlight because obviously, things WILL and SHOULD change.

As they get up to leave the train, Mafuyu (blushing slightly) calls out to Ue and says, "When we get back, should we do it?" to which Ue responds with "EHHHHHHHH?!" A little unexpected as the final panel of the final chapter but it's a nice callback to when Yuki asked Mafuyu the same question. MAH BOY UE IS FINALLY GRADUATING! I knew Mafuyu was going to have to take the lead, hehe.

MINOR GRIPES AND FINAL THOUGHTS

I've had two months to deal with the series ending and I had already tempered my expectations knowing the ending was going to be rushed, so honestly as long as Kizu-sensei didn't like, spontaneously kill off a character or break up a couple, I was pretty okay with anything the chapter was going to give us. I do still have some some gripes and things I just wish had been explored more.

My biggest complaint is in regards to the treatment of Ue as an individual and his relationship with Mafuyu. If we recall, Given actually starts off from Ue's point of view. He had been in a musical slump until Mafuyu came along and rocked his world. He had to come to terms with his unfamiliar feelings, and then he also had to deal with the fact that he knows almost nothing about the boy he likes. Even after they started dating, Mafuyu really didn't share anything about Yuki with him, so whatever he knew was very vague and second-hand knowledge. THEN in addition to that, he's tasked with finishing the demo of a piece that Yuki had obviously intended as a love song for Mafuyu. And ironically, he works on this song at the expense of his relationship with Mafuyu. He had brief moments of vulnerability, once when Aki called him out for his feelings toward Mafuyu (this is one of my favorite scenes in the anime), and again when Mafuyu rejected his invitation to SYH's debut concert. But then we never really see him working through these complicated feelings. My boy's been through so much and he is strong, but I wanted to see more growth and development from him. After all, he's just a teenage boy who fell in love for the first time and is trying to balance that with music, school, a part-time job, etc.

As for Ue and Mafuyu as a couple, they are my endgame, my OTP, so while I enjoy the arcs that focus on AkiHaru and ShizuRagi, I was never as invested in them. I was okay reading 20+ chapters of them because I always assumed that the series would circle back around to have a final arc focused on Ue and Mafuyu. I also found the resolution to their problems in the hiiragi_mix arc to be very rushed. They had MAJOR communication issues, which is completely understandable for two young guys. Ue was trying so hard to finish the song as a gift for Mafuyu, but Mafuyu pulled away because he saw a repeat of what happened with Yuki coming again and got scared. The root of the issue is that they've never talked about Mafuyu's relationship with Yuki and Yuki's death.

At SYH's debut live, Mafuyu hears Umi e, instantly recognizes that the song came from Yuki, and then is so moved and inspired that he basically proposes to Ue that he wants to make music with him for the rest of his life. And then the final chapter just cuts forward after this declaration to Given debuting. This resolution is too fast and unrealistic. I would have preferred at LEAST one whole long chapter dedicated to Ue and Mafuyu after the live debriefing and talking. In an even more ideal world, they would have also done it after the talking. I never expected anything explicit but I would have at least liked to see the lead up, because it would have been the truest form of intimacy they could share, and Ue coming to terms with his sexuality and what exactly he wanted to "do to Mafuyu" was such a big part of the series early on.

Regardless, Kizu-sensei wrapped everything up nicely, brought back every character for at least a cameo, and ended things on a happy, meaningful note. I've seen that many people are unsatisfied with it but I mean, I watched Game of Thrones, so I know a bad ending and this was just fine. Although I didn't get everything on my Given wish list, I am glad that I got to see the end. I prefer that over it getting cancelled at some point for whatever reason and being left unfinished. And we still have more to look forward to! I'll be hoping for some extra manga content with the volume 9 release and waiting to hear Umi e in the anime.

Just like Mafuyu says, Given and the music will remain with us. It touched my heart and will always have a special place there. Thank you for everything, Given!

So, my initial thought when I saw the thumbnail pop up was 'bullshit' so let's seeeeeee

They have a whole ass theater with a giant cinema screen, they don't need the monitors in the lobby to watch movies. Also can't they just watch it in their heads? Cause their robots?

Oh. OH. We're talking original ORIGINAL Moon.

Is he having a nightmare?

Okay he's having a nightmare. He was sleeping on the couch. Yeah that'll do it.

Good on you Sun. Stand up for yourself! FUCK YEAH.

It's cool seeing the actual growth in Sun standing up for himself. I can hear the other version of this conversation in my head where Sun is timidly trying to assure himself that no he's not the stupid one and no this isn't real. But he's much more confident now, most likely thanks to the positive support and assurances he's been receiving from Earth and New Moon. The issues are still present, he still does feel guilty about Moon being reset but he's more capable of handling these feelings now, even just in a dream. More confident. A palpable effect. I like it.

Also the admittance that, no he doesn't believe his own words that this isn't real. I like that too. Admitting and recognizing there is a problem is difficult but also generally the first step in fixing it. As far as I can remember, normally, before this point, Sun refused to admit there WAS any problem. I'm thinking specifically of, like, the Bloodmoon hallucinations (see: later in this episode lolol) and insisting that they weren't real because that's what I can remember off the top of my head, but I'm sure, I KNOW there are other instances of him saying everything is fine and not actually addressing the issue.

Taking ACTION. Removing yourself from the situation. Love it.

"I'm sUn i'M All Ladedah LA DE DOO!" Made me wheeze.

The delivery of the 'I loved you. I did.' line was soooo good. Got my heart hurting, bruh, the voice wavering is RRRRRRRRRRR so Awesome.

Now hold ON a second there nightmare moonie. If we're talking BLAME, then

Bloodmoon jumpscare.

"No you." Pfft

This entire.

Like, this entire exchange is SO good.

This entire exchange is happening between Sun and himself. THERE IS NOBODY ELSE. Sun recognizes this and even points it out. However, Sun also admits aloud that he is having trouble recognizing that this isn't real. So while he IS having a conversation with himself, reflecting his own morals and internal struggles, HE BELIEVES he is having a conversation with Bloodmoon at the same time.

So, right off the bat you have multiple layers to this entire conversation happening with Sun. Which is fucking phenomenal. Everything "Bloodmoon" is saying is really just Sun's deeper conscious. Things he feels about himself. But everything Sun, himself, is saying is also true. He feels both ways and it's a really cool representation of an internal struggle.

Everything that Bloodmoon is saying is Sun saying thing's to himself. Anything Bloodmoon says, Sun thinks about himself. Sun thinks he's a murderer. He thinks he didn't do enough to help Bloodmoon. He thinks he's a coward. A fool. A flaw. Insults that "Old Moon" just said to him moments ago, who was also just Sun. He thinks all these things he says to justify why he did what he did to Bloodmoon are just excuses even though some of them are completely reasonable considering the circumstances at the time! He's right! Bloodmoon would have just kept on killing because that's what Bloodmoon was built to do WHICH HE RECOGNIZES because both he and "Bloodmoon" say that!

Sun believes he's talking to Bloodmoon. So when he apologizes to Bloodmoon it's GENUINE. He tells him he really is, truly, sorry that that entire sequence of events happened the way that it did and he's sorry he killed Bloodmoon. And it's true. He really is that sorry and he's taking the time to apologize.

He wishes he could have saved Bloodmoon somehow, given Bloodmoon the opportunity to live a full life with friends and family.

He tells "Bloodmoon" that if they could have helped him, they would have done it without question. And he means that. If Bloodmoon had tried to fight his code like Killcode, or grow as a person, change, they would have helped him. They would have wanted too.

But he didn't. Sun knows that Bloodmoon didn't want to change. And Sun says that aloud. "If there was a way to make you not want to hurt people, I would have done it in a heartbeat but you never wanted that. You only ever wanted to hurt people. To kill things. To do horrible things! And there was nothing that could have fixed that." He KNOWS in his heart that is the truth.

Bloodmoon was not working on getting better. He was working for Killcode, who was antagonistic at the time, learning blood magic. He repeatedly entered the daycare to harass Sun specifically. And he killed regularly, violently, without remorse. Yes, according to his programming, but also because he enjoyed it. If anyone 'felt a rush' from killing, it was Bloodmoon. Every other character in the show has been shown to be capable of and willing to change (except maybe Eclipse in the willingness department).

Killcode was also built for killing, a direct mirror to Bloodmoon's situation! But he put effort in, struggled to change himself (Paarthurnax quote anyone?) and succeeded!

Bloodmoon did not. He didn't need too, want too, or make any attempt to as far as I can remember. Which makes the 'I was built like this.' line "Bloodmoon" says moot. His final action was him literally tormenting Sun. Correct me if I'm wrong though, I know other people are more familiar with him than I am. (The actual 'Bloodmoon sees a bloodmoon' episode maaaay have something but I haven't watched it in a bit)

"How much did you really try?" "How much did you?"

But the things here is, Bloodmoon is dead. He's been dead for months. So this apology can't BE for Bloodmoon.

So. It's for Sun. It's for himself. It is for Sun's benefit alone. He's saying it to "Bloodmoon" but there isn't a Bloodmoon anymore so this? This is Sun hallucinating an apology to Bloodmoon because he wants to apologize for what he did. He feels genuine regret over it, and it's been tearing him apart.

Deep down, Sun knows the truth. All the things he's said are true. Bloodmoon was not going to change, he'd made no real attempt to do so. Bloodmoon was dangerous, to both Sun and his family, as well as anyone else who was around Bloodmoon. He had a trail of victims behind him. It wasn't Bloodmoons fault he was made that way, but it was the way he was made nonetheless.

Sun didn't enjoy killing Bloodmoon. But I don't think he regrets doing it.

I think he regrets that there was no way to undo it.

I think he regrets all the 'could haves' he imagines may have been possible if Bloodmoon was alive. The possibilities, no matter how fantastical in the face of the truth of the situation. (The brother thing, the Bloodmoon getting better thing. Beautiful ideas, but let's be real, do we really think that was going to happen? In the face of everything I'm about to bring up, was it actually a possibility or just a pastel cover stretched across a bad situation? A longing that wasn't based in any truth?)

I think he regrets the way it happened, in a fit of momentary anger. He was in a bad place at the time which made him emotionally irrational. Bloodmoon was just one of many pressures weighing on Sun at the time : Eclipse, Killcode, Moon, Lunar, The Star, Solar Flare, the Creator, I think Earth was also introduced just before everything went down, so Sun had a fuck ton on his plate at that point. And he says that! He was just tired of dealing with it all. So many things were happening, so many people hurting him and his family unendingly over and over and over, everything everything everything for MONTHS, no end in sight, and he snapped! Because everyone has their limits and no one can be a paragon in the face of such horrible things forever!

But I think Sun feels justified in killing Bloodmoon. It was necessary.

Based on all the information we have now, the justifications he set down in front of himself this episode I think Sun thinks what he did was the right choice.

Which is why, given the chance, he'd do it again.

And that's why this is SO

FUCKING

GOOD

Because it was necessary! Even after all this time, Sun believes what he did was the right thing. He knows, HE TELLS HIMSELF his own logical reasoning for it, reasoning that makes sense.

But that doesn't stop him from calling them excuses. Questioning himself.

You can do something and believe it was right and still question it. You can take an action and recognize that it was the only good, or hell, even just the ONLY action you could have taken and Still agonize over it. Lie in bed with it at night and roll over and have to sit with it. Cry over it. Regret it.

Did Sun do everything? Well, yes! He did! He did everything he believed he could have done at that moment with the information he knew. You can't conjure up information you just don't have. Bloodmoon wasn't going to change! He didn't want too! He'd made no attempt too! Sun says that! His repeated actions proved as much!

But... Maybe Bloodmoon could have changed. Did you really give him enough of a chance?

Killing people is bad! Sun knows this! He feels regret for how it happened! He is genuinely sorry Bloodmoon is dead, that it all got to the point where it had to happen! He feels awful for killing Bloodmoon!

But... is he really? Is he really sorry if he'd do it again? Did it really have to happen?

Yes! If Sun had let Bloodmoon go what was the alternative? Bloodmoon could have hurt Sun right then! He most certainly would have continued killing people for blood! If Sun hadn't done anything, would that blood be on his hands too for letting Bloodmoon leave? Would he have felt like it was his fault Bloodmoon kept hurting people when he had the opportunity to stop it? He saved all of Bloodmoon's future victims, people who would have gotten killed for sure because that's what Bloodmoon was! SUN DIDN'T HAVE A CHOICE!

But... You don't know that. And you prevented the possibility of it.

And over and over and over.

It's this horrible cycle of 'did you really do enough' when Sun did all he could with what he had. The pros of killing Bloodmoon at the time, the justifications all came together to outweigh the cons of it, and Sun had no idea he'd be haunted by his actions. How could he? He wasn't a murderer before this.

All of it comes together to make him wonder if this apology is really real when he has such conflicting feelings about what happened. When his actions contradict his words and feelings.

He did it because he had too. He did it because it was necessary. But, by GOD it's fucking tearing him apart.

I talk about the trapping episode a lot. It's simultaneously one of my least favorite episode as well as being, in my opinion, one of the better lore episodes on the show. But I think about Moon telling Sun, "He couldn't change! He's DEAD!" all the time. I fucking love that line.

So it's really. I can't help but wonder if that line stuck with Sun all this time too. If that's where all this talk about the possibility of Bloodmoon changing stems from.

"How much did you really try?"

I realized while I was writing this.

Ages ago, I wrote down a thought about how it felt like Sun didn't really see Bloodmoon as a person? After he killed him?

This brought that idea back up, but that Sun did not see Bloodmoon as someone who was in control of himself.

So the whole thing I wrote down, all the way back when the direct consequences of Sun killing Bloodmoon popped up was this.

"I think Sun does not consider Bloodmoon a 'person'. He says 'I haven't killed anyone' and when Moon calls him out for killing Bloodmoon, he has to pause for a moment before he says 'He... was somebody that deserved it' but the slow way he says it feels hesitant. It's weird. There was also an earlier episode where Sun said that he didn't feel anything when he killed Bloodmoon. He has no regrets about it. It feels like they're really hammering that in."

Which was followed by a written exchange from the show

Moon: Who couldn't control it, like I couldn't!

Sun: Do you think that excuses it, still!?

Moon: Then how- I'm just as guilty!

Which makes the entire exchange about Bloodmoon not being able to control himself, as well as Sun beliving he's guilty all the deeper.

It also matches up with thoughts I had above which is cool.

But I have run out of energy to try and formulate cohesive written thoughts about this specifically. Just thought I'd throw it in here.

Good Episode.

"I would have loved to have another brother." Oh nooooooooooo. Oh NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

That one hit. Oof that one struck home.

I started legitimately getting emotional when he popped into the room and was holding back tears. ASSURING HIMSELF he didn't enjoy it, didn't enjoy hurting them.

I had to pause the episode for a hot minute when he said he wished he was dead. Kudos to those of you who picked that out before hand. It caught me dead by surprise even thought I had seen people discussing that aspect of Sun's character before.

Interesting to consider that he is in fact possibly jealous of Moon resetting. That Moon doesn't have to live with his mistakes and consequences and Sun does. I'd love to see that particular line of characterization delved into further.

Sun steeling himself to act 'normal' when he's feeling so troubled kinda hit me persona-

To those people who voted "no", you are valid. In character, that's probably what a capo would've done. If that was the majority vote Alhaitham would be swiftly removed from the game. I will literally put a giant red "X" in his drawing if it happened but alas it was not. His entire route relied on that single choice and he won lololol

CHOICE 2 RESULTS:

My friend is in shambles. The Diluc Simps won in an Alhaitham/Tighnari/Cyno fic and she's dying lmao– It was so entertaining watching this part of the results. It just kept changing. I didn't even write the draft for this one for a while cause I can never be too sure how it'll end so I made plans to just write both lolol.

Anyways, choosing Tighnari was supposed to be an easy route to a bad ending. But alas, yall survived. I thought I could get you all into blindly hunting Tighnari down but I guess not 😭 Well it's either you guys saw the danger coming or you're all Diluc Simps (⁠≧⁠▽⁠≦⁠) LOL

romance on the farm spoilers for ep 18

...im cautious of assuming that shen nuo is another player or that man'er will ever get out of the game (although i personally hope so)... anyway the scene where they get boss wu into their restaurant and shen nuo acts like hes the boss with his good wife at his side was really weird to me...? and i hope its evidence that theyre both players and will leave the game because if its NOT shen nuo's mission progress causing him to treat man'er like that then idk i dont like it.

i know patriarchy was the reason why three men acted like they had all the power in that conversation while she stood there silently (one line?) (its man'er's restaurant!!! her farm!!! her money and recipes!!!).

still... a little mad at shen nuo for not bringing her into the conversation at all. even tho it makes sense in context why he essentially used her as a prop to sell his fake identity.

the female lead tian xiwei's other costume drama is literally just 1,001 ways wealthy women are oppressed and romance on the farm is so far pushing HARD on agency and value within the family so its not like i dont trust where theyre going with this lolol

im rambling and have more thoughts but MAN i would love to know what theyre gonna do with the simulation premise...

noi, alone’s antag is a girl named hannah belle grace — can’t really say Why bc spoiler but she’s not okay lol. and also the fucking police bc acab :)

jenna the reaper’s (both parts) antags are first yehna, then the reaper council. yehna is the reaper spirit that was looking for a host in the town of braebrooke; her presence is what was causing all of the odd supernatural occurrences that were happening in book 1. once jenna and yehna start to share a body, the main antag sort of shifts to the reaper council in general bc they start trying to interfere to keep them from being separate and they can kick rocks lol.

(didn’t include jenna the witch king or mason at the airport just bc they don’t really Have antagonists tbh)

tmc: following your dreams, friendship, marching to the beat of your own drum, heroism tm

donut wip: nothing is ever a coincidence, the past is never just the past, trauma lingers

noi, alone: curiosity killed the cat and satisfaction did NOT help, if you want something done do it yourself, closure can have consequences

jenna the reaper: love solves all problems, understanding and compassion bring about real change, to know yourself is to know all parts of you even the negative

jenna the witch king: what makes you the chosen one is choosing it, if you want it manifest it (literally and figuratively)

mason at the airport: not everything you see can be explained and that’s okay, cherish the time you have :)
