fish in the sky (alby_mangroves, chaosmanor) - MCU: stucky, 37K - incredibly gentle and warm story of Steve going to the Stark Family Farm for a forced vacation and meeting the mysterious Russian caretaker, James. I really don't have the words to describe how wonderful this fic is, except that it will make you laugh and maybe cry and leave you as healed as Steve. And also you will want to eat a lot of cheese. This is one of those forever faves that I have bookmarked AND downloaded and saved on every device [reread]

Okay I have this doctor/River hc! So the 13th doc and the gang are off on some alien planet doing something zany and doctor whoish and when they’ve back to the TARDIS ready to take a shower, grab some food, and take a serious nap, instead they find this lady with space hair already on the TARDIS looking like she’s getting ready to fly it. And the lady turns to them nonchalantly and (not recognizing 13) says “is the doctor with you?” 1/?

(the ask is 8 parts long so i’ll cut it here out of consideration but this is super good so please read!)

And the doctor quickly says “He’s still on planet he just sent us back to the TARDIS to get some sleep” and sends the rest of the fam some serious ‘go with me here’ glances. River doesn’t notice and says something like “well I hope he doesn’t mind, but I need the old girl to pop across the galaxy to establish an alibi I’ll bring you back shortly afterwards, he won’t even notice you’re gone” and the Doctor gestures for the rest of the fam to follow her out of the console room to explain 2/?

And the fams freaking out and asking questions and the Doctor quickly says “you can’t tell her who I am” and Ryan’s all “but I don’t get it who is she?” And 13 says “she’s my wife” and Yaz is all “but how can she not recognize you?” So the doctor explains regeneration to them as well as a TLDR version of River and hers fucked up timeline and finally Graham goes “then why can’t you tell her who you are” and the Doctor gets serious for a moment and she explains 3/?... that she made a promise to River a long time ago to never change their timeline, in case something like the butterfly effect happens and they erase their time together “not one line” 13 says grimly “dont you dare” and the doc explains that river has already met all her former regenerations and that if she realizes there’s another, their timelines might change and Delirium might never happen so she tells the fam to call her John -oh wait that’s a boy name?- Fine ‘Jane’ and not the Doctor 4/?The fam agrees to call her Jane and something goes wrong in Rivers mission as it always does and they eventually end up trapped on some random planet running away from an army of people River has inevitably angered and River is flirting with her and it feels like the good ol days, but then something goes really wrong. The fam gets trapped with River and the Doc has to save them by flying in with the TARDIS and when ‘Jane’ walks out the doors instead of her husband, River realizes who she is 5/?And they get in and fly to safety in the brink of time and River finally asks why the doc hid who she was, and the Doc explains “because you couldn’t know” and River goes “why?” And even tho 13 doesn’t respond River realizes it’s because in the Docs POV River has already been dead for centuries and River goes “you didn’t even miss me?” And the doc gets mad and starts crying “I’ve never stopped River, it’s been a century and I miss you more every day” 6/?

And the doc is crying harder now, and River explains they don’t have to follow the rules of past, maybe they can be together even now. And she hugs 13, and then kisses her, but then the docs hands are on Rivers face, and River realizes what she’s doing and struggles, but it’s too late. The doc is already erasing her memories, and 13 is sobbing now and lowers her to the floor. She kisses her forehead one late time and goes back to the console 7/?And she flies the gang and an unconscious River back to the 1st planet, and 13 carries River to a bed of some sort and tucks her in, pressing her fingers to her temple and giving her the best of dreams before she flies off with the gang again. River dreams of an extraordinary girl with a plain name. 8/8-

Dude you deadass wrote an entire fic in my ask box 😂😂😂 not that i mind tho, it’s a lovely headcanon to have. I love any river/doctor thing and 13 is no different, honestly. But this is so so sweet and so so sad and gah, it’s like why can’t they be happy for once??? I feel like river and 13 would have a dynamic similar to 11 and river, where 13 has to really try and control herself around her wife to stop herself from doing something. That would be an interesting dynamic to explore in this situation. Like, imagine the doctor just relapsing into old ways and almost bringing up an inside joke they had in darillium and having to stop herself short because river can’t know. Gah, that’s so sad. But i love it so much.

But really, turn this into a fic, i’ll eat it up the entire way. It’s amazing.
