Do you remember the convo about checking each other's slang terms in the Dandelion Shrine ep? They're talking about Charles liking that Crystal is around and Edwin rudely comments "but my father would have called her a bobtail", to which Charles responds, "well, your father would call me an unlicked cub, or worse".
Tumblr media
Look at the 3. point — "that's not very nice" indeed.
Tumblr media
And obviously, what Charles is trying to do is show that Edwin's father may not be the best judge of character. Either because he's generally an asshole, or because he's from a different time period.
But I also can't stop seeing this bit like— how you're inviting your friend or partner over to your house for the first time, they meet your parents, and everyone forms some kind of impressions. Edwin probably chose the "bobtail" like the mostly 18th century slang meaning "a lewd woman, or one that plays with her tail" (yeah), cementing the fact he was thinking of Crystal as Charles' interest getting seriously romantic and sexual. But then, Charles goes and INSERTS HIMSELF into the comparison. He's immediately taking the attention back to himself, both kinda protective of Crystal in a sweet way, and like he's been imagining meeting Edwin's parents, proved they were alive. Like he's unconsciously placed himself in the suitor role?
Is this reaching? When in the same ep, minutes apart Charles barges on with this [on Crystal being difficult, willful, combative]:

Charles "brb, holding onto my alleged heterosexuality with the little pinkie" Rowland, everyone.

Sports AU
Palasaki au where Niko is a professional figure skater and Crystal is a professional hurdler. Niko doesn’t really run but one day she’s training and runs into Crystal. They become running buddies, then Niko teaches Crystal how to skate. Despite her hard shell, Crystal warms up to Niko very quickly. Crystal is a lot better than Niko expected, at everything. Also Niko makes her own clothing, Niko and Monty are classmates and Charles plays tennis.

Can we again just appreciate how good at kinging The King is? His health is preventing his doctors from signing off including New Zealand in the itinerary for his upcoming tour. So after the announcement, what does he do - has the NZ women’s team (yes women play sport KP!) over for a reception to also express his sorry that he can’t visit and express his love for the country.
The moment when the players asked him for a hug is pure joy! Top tier royalling 👌 compared to the shambles at heir headquarters 😂

Eurovision 2005: The Stage and Set Design
Tumblr media
Surrounded by pillars of light and jutting forward into the crowd in the arena, you'd be forgiven for thinking that this year's stage in Palats Sportu was a grand affair. It's clear that NTU invested greatly in Eurovision this year including the host venue - despite the upheaval of the revolution. However looks can be deceptive.
The crowd size is around 5,000. This is roughly the same as 2002 and 2003. The area around the stage is not brightly lit, but just occasionally you can see how close the crowd are to it, and those shots give a sense of scale. It's actually pretty small.
The darkness surrounding the stage not only allows that size to be hidden, but also to show off the floor illuminated from below. There are LEDs on the pillars as well as size curved screens at the back from the stage - but these are still restricted to blocks of colour and screen-saver imagery of clouds.
Tumblr media
The audience surround the stage on all sides and all of them have clear, unobstructed views of the stage. The darkness in which they sit is barely illuminated by some globular glowing balls on the strings which are capable of some fancy movements and choreography - enough for them to be a theme in the opening interval act for the semi-final - but when it comes to their abilities as lamps, they're not so great.
Pyro is again missing this year. There's some confetti at the end of the evening, but that's it. There's also a lack of any dry ice. These were elements not present in the original 1960s building and weren't installed in the Eurovision refit. There is however a wind machine.
Tumblr media
On screen graphics are on a blue and green background, with simple white text in a rather blocky font reminiscent of the what futuristic text would have been imagined as when the Palace of Sports was being built. From the perspective of decades in the future, it looks even more dated that how it would have looked in 2005.
The need for a separate scoreboard screen is once again dispensed with on the main stage. The table for the EBU officials is subsumed by the audience. When it's time for Svante Stockelius to make his appearance, he's surrounded by Croatian fans mugging for the camera to his apparent dismay.
Tumblr media
There's one major technical innovation this year. It's the first Eurovision to be broadcast in widescreen 16:9 format. The slogan for the year is 'Awakening', chosen to chime with Ukraine's emergence from the past into a European setting. The new Government hoped that Eurovision would not only boost Ukraine's tourist industry but also would serve as a demonstration to their intention to move towards EU membership and integration into the wider Eurovision project.
Tumblr media
The green room, like last year is hidden away in the backrooms of the Palace of Sports. It looks fairly compact. Everyone is squeezed in together in a jamble of glitter, sofas, champagne glasses and flags.
When it's time for Helena to emerge from it to collect the trophies - more on that later - it's only a short distance but there's an intense scrum as she gets miked up while being harried by floor managers and security staff, as the two hosts vamp for all they're worth on stage. There doesn't appear to be much in the way of private space for the performers away from the dressing rooms.
The Executive Producers was Pavlo Grytsak, with Creative Director Mikhailo Ilko and Show Producer Tarmo Krimm

A Word For Football Fans Everywhere
I would tell anyone who jumps on these “manager out” bandwagons as soon as their club loses a game to just grow up. I love you all, I truly do, but that’s not the mature or discerning response to a loss.
You’re not entitled to win every game. City lost to United twice in a season a while back…and?? You didn’t see the fans rioting online or outside the stadium demanding Pep should go. Palace haven’t won a game yet this season after two games, you’re not seeing the fans calling for Glasner’s head. The media would love it because they need a story, but anyone with a level head can look at what he did last season and determine that with some time he will sort it out.
You can get mad about a loss, you KNOW I do. But you don’t throw the baby out with the bath water every time things don’t go your way…welcome to life, that happens. Enough with the entitlement that demands your team win every game because “do you know who we are??”
Even the legendary Invincibles didn’t win every game, they dropped points. Imagine if Arsenal sacked Wenger in the middle of that season the moment he drew a game they probably should’ve won. 🤔 Imagine if United had sacked Sir Alex when the oh so knowledgeable fans insisted they’d never win anything under him. He lost plenty of games and still won trophy after trophy. He’d be the first to tell you that champions, WINNERS, don’t react like this to losses. You get mad, you dust yourself off, and you go again. True in football, true in life. ⚽️
