waiting for us — chapter forty one. sunset wc. 677 + 2 ss a/n: so while writing this i listened to waiting for us (both versions) and was like lowkey on the verge of sobbing. anyway enjoy :D

Later that night almost feels like a repeat of this morning, Jeongin driving you to the same little outlook that Chan had taken you to. This time though you actually follow him to the clearing. The sun has almost left the horizon, the same familiar orange glow slowly fading into black. Jeongin lays out a fuzzy blanket and motions for you to sit down. As you do, he quickly runs back to the car, rummaging in the back seat. He comes back with a small picnic basket, filled with a small bento dinner (courtesy of one Minho). Once the two of you had finished the food, the sun has already set, leaving the two of you basking in the light of the moon, stars shining bright in the sky. You’re on your back against the blanket, your heads lightly pressed against each other and hands linked together. Jeongin attempts to point out any constellations he knows but to be honest both of you are pretty clueless about astronomy. But it doesn’t matter, you feel so content and cozy just staring up at the vast sky, thinking about how big the universe is - wondering if there was anything more out there.

You end up completely curled up onto Jeongin, head resting against his chest. You can feel his heart beat echoing in your ear and you find it cute that’s it’s slightly fast just from having you so close. It feels like barely any time has passed but the two of you end up spending a few hours out there. Even though you still have a few hours left before your curfew, you’d rather not risk it for now. When you sit up, you stretch your arms out from having laid down for so long, bones popping lightly. Jeongin moves to clean up but you pull him back down to sit. He blinks at you confusingly, head tilting cutely.

“Jeongin,” He nods his head, encouraging you to continue. “Thank you,”

“Huh? For what?”

“For finding me. For not giving up on me even when I tried to push you away. You could have given up on me, seeing that I wasn’t worth it. But you stayed. You fought for me. I really can’t thank you enough,”

His smile turns bright, a fondness swimming in his dark eyes. Jeongin brings a hand to cup at your jaw, brushing back some of your hair. Your eyes flutter shut for a second, relishing in his small touch.

“Silly girl. We would never give up on you, even if you had decided you had wanted to be platonic. You have and will always be so important to us. Now that you’re with us, we could never let you go. You are ours. Forever. Until the end of time,” Jeongin swipes his thumb against your cheek, wiping away the single tear that falls from your face.

“Jeongin. I love you,” His eyes widen and get watery, looking like he might cry himself.

“God. Y/N. I love you so fucking much,” His words are almost a whisper, like a secret just between the two of you. Jeongin pulls your face closer to his so he can press his lips softly against yours. It’s sweet, soft kisses shared between the two of you, lips slotted perfectly together. His tongue is tentative when it swipes across your lower tier, testing the waters with how far you’re willing to go.

But when you part your lips for his tongue, it feels like he’s lost all control. Jeongin’s hand comes to cup the back of your head, leaning you back down against the blanket, his other hand holding himself up to hover over you. He’s practically devouring you, tongue licking into your mouth and prodding your own wet muscle.

Jeongin finds that he absolutely loves the way your lips look after he pulls away, slightly swollen and slick. You’re staring up at him with literal sparkles in your eyes and Jeongin thinks that you were quite literally everything and more than they could have ever hoped for.

I really don't buy a lot of the recent rumours Earthspark is cancelled after series 2.

A lot of it seems to be coming from misunderstanding the Hasbro investor /financial statement, You Tube "news", and fan speculation.

True Hasbro didn't do well last quarter, *edit: I've taken a section I originally wrote about Hasbro's overall profit out as I'm not convinced I understand the statement correctly, as financial stuff isn't my field, and I don't want to contribute to more rumours*

However most other large media/toy/entertainment companies are struggling right now, and a lot of Hasbros struggles are down to their p*ss poor handling of massive properties like MtG and especially D&D.

However Transformers as a brand did okay on the whole. Yes, the companies overall revenue is down but the statement itself says "strong performance in GI Joe, Furby and Transformers", indeed it says transformers saw a revenue (I think) growth of +25%. I really don't know where the "news" Earthspark specifically was a flop has come from, as the statement doesn't mention Earthspark at all, just transformers in general.

Maybe the show will ultimately be cancelled, given how poor its distribution and marketing has been I wouldn't be surprised unfortunately (the last 6 episodes of the series still isn't available on UK Netflix or BBC iPlayer for example). Paywalling your flagship toy advertisement behind a relatively small streaming platform that's mainly used for watching Star Trek, is not a great way to get kids watching.

But as far as I can tell Hasbros made no comments on it officially and by the standards of a pretty crap year for businesses as a whole Transformers is actually doing fairly well.

So NO its not cancelled, not until Hasbro or Nickelodeon actually say it's cancelled, at the moment all people are going off is speculation and rumor.

the importance of mike and will simply getting each other (pt 2):

I’ve covered the significance of Mileven simply not understanding each other, & now it’s time to talk about their counterpart !

(specifying that nothing in these posts is new or groundbreaking, I’m just covering multiple topics and gathering info in one place !)

season 1:

Episode one begins with the party playing a d&d campaign:

When Mike goes upstairs to talk to his mom, Will discovers he’d rolled a seven, meaning the monster got him in the game. Dustin and Lucas say “Did Mike see it?” to which Will shakes his head no. “Then it doesn’t count!” Lucas replies as they scramble to leave the house.

Dustin and Lucas leave and Mike stands next to Will in the garage. After a moment of quiet, Will tells Mike,

“It was a seven. The roll. It was a seven. The demogorgon, it got me.”

To which Mike responds with:

nothing.

This scene is the first scene we get with Mine and Will alone in the whole show. This scene sets up the entirety of their relationship, telling the audience right off the bat,

“Hey! These two boys are best friends, and they don’t lie to each other!”

First impressions are always important in media, and next we get El and Mike’s first scenes together.

Remember, Mike only found El because he was out with Dustin and Lucas looking for Will.

Now, Mike is sweet to El that first night and next day. But keep in mind that the only reason El spent that first night in Mike’s basement was because Mike didn’t want to get in trouble by his mom, because he had been out looking for Will, something he wasn’t supposed to be doing.

Dustin says, “I think we should tell your mom,” and Lucas agrees. Mike responds with, “Who’s crazy now?”

Lucas: “How is that crazy?”

Mike: “Because we weren’t supposed to be out tonight, remember?”

Mike makes the plan to have El sleep there for the night, then go around to the front door in the morning so Karen will know what to do with her. Mike wants her to leave in the morning so they can go back to looking for Will.

Remember, the only reason she stayed the night was so the boys didn’t get in trouble for looking for Will.

Mike keeps Eleven around 1. because “bad men” are after her, and Mike does care for her and her safety, and 2. Mike has a feeling Will is alive and El knows how to find him.

They don’t have many interactions in season 1 due to Will being in the upside down, but they reunite at the end of the season and everything is (seemingly) back to normal.

season 2:

Everyone knows season two is byler’s season ! El is living with Hopper, unbeknownst to the boys, and Mike and Will are as close as ever.

Episode 1: The party goes to Palace Arcade and plays Dig Dug. In the midst of this, Will gets a weird feeling and suddenly sees the upside down.

He walks outside slowly and sees the Mind Flayer, followed by one person and one person only: his best friend.

(can’t ss netflix but mike comes out and asks will if he’s okay)

Mike is the only one out of the other three to notice Will is gone and follow him out. He puts his arm around Will and walks him back inside to play Dig Dug.

Later on in episode one, Joyce picks Will up early from school for his appointment with Dr. Owens,

and the camera zooms into Mike and Mike only, saying,

All three boys notice something is off, but Mike is the first to say something about it.

This whole season is meant to showcase the special friendship Mike and Will have. They know each other the best and even the rest of the party knows that.

Episode 2: This episode is an important one. Max joins the party while trick-or-treating and Mike is not on board with the idea.

I've noticed when the party split off into groups, it's almost always Mike & Will, Dustin & Lucas, or Lucas & Max. Mike and Will are glued to each other's hip most of the time.

Mike is upset that Will allowed for Max to join them while trick-or-treating, and when Mike hurries ahead of Will, Will almost seems disappointed in himself for disappointing Mike, staring after him like Mike caught him committing atrocities and he feels guilty. lmao poor will, he just wants to make mike happy !

A moment later we have bullies push Will to the ground, resulting in him seeing the upside down & Mind Flayer again, calling for Mike and running to safety.

When Mike finally reaches Will, he exclaims, "Will! I couldn't find you, are you hurt?" indicating that the moment Mike turned around and didn't see Will behind him, he sensed something was off and went looking for him, just like at Palace Arcade.

While the others chase down the stairs, either cussing or verbally confused, Mike is the only one at Will's side asking him if he's okay.

He helps Will up and puts an arm around him again, just like at palace Arcade, and takes him ho--- oh, you thought I was gonna say home? To Will's house? Nope! Mike says he's going to take Will home, and takes him to the Wheeler's basement.

Ladies and gentlemen, how could I make a byler post without including the infamous crazy together scene !?

We have Mike and Will sitting on the couch in the Wheeler's basement, and Will is telling him all about these "visions" he's been having.

He begins describing,

but stops, not knowing how to finish his sentence. But no worries, Mike finishes it for him!

Will then begs Mike to keep it a secret.

Why won't the others understand? Did the other party member not already see a demogorgon? Do they not already know what the upside down is? Will just wants to have something special--a secret only he and Mike know. He knows the others would understand, but doesn't think they'd be of any help. Unlike Mike, whom he trusts completely.

the kingscholar name had been passed down to three people.

falena kingscholar, the eldest of the three. the current king of the afterglow savanna who is widely regarded as the "best kingscholar" for his caring demeanor balanced with his approachable character.

leona kingscholar, the second oldest. the so-called inferior son that stemmed from his lazy attitude as well as his horrifying power to bring about a drought with the touch of a finger.

(name) kingscholar, the youngest of the three. the... what were they? they weren't anything special, were they? they didn't have leadership qualities like falena or even an ounce of power like leona. so what were they to the kingscholar name?

if there was anyone you hated the most in the kingdom, it would have to be the elders and those who worked directly under them, which, unfortunately for you, were the majority of the people who took care of you.

the servants that were assigned to wake you up and help you dress for the day would linger outside your quarters, murmuring to each other just on the other side of your door.

"prince(ss) (name) seems to be lacking in their magical studies," you could hear from the other side.

"they are falling behind in their general etiquette classes, as well," they continued. you couldn't tell if they were on purpose or not...

they can't be bothered to do this in their own time? you often thought to yourself, silencing your grumbles and whines. they had to do this in front of your room where you could hear it all? why didn't they bother trying to cover it up?

meeting with the elders didn't help, either.

your elders were the ones who ran your classes, ranging from royal etiquette to magic. they always had something to say and, unlike the servants, they didn't bother talking about you in the next room over.

"no, no, no! you do it like this!" they would scold you, slapping your back if you slouched even the slightest bit. "carry your head high like king falena! you don't want to be a disgrace to the kingscholar name, do you?"

"at least prince leona is well-versed in magic. even our laziest prince could perform better than you," another scoffed as your magic fizzled out into nothing but sparks.

there was not a moment where you were blessed with not hearing these words. it was a constant that replaced your brothers' lacking presence in your life.

falena was always off doing his job as the king, tending to the many issues that would land on his desk from the citizens of the savannah.

leona had isolated himself from you early on and after being admitted to night raven college, you saw even less of him.

you missed them greatly, mainly because they were the only ones you remembered not hearing these words from. they never let you down in that aspect and you were grateful for that. your earliest memories of them were when you were small, when falena was still just the heir to the throne and the three of you were somewhat attached to the hip.

sure, it wasn't a completely perfect relationship, but it was enough. until falena and leona got older. they got older and you stayed the same (at least according to everyone around you, that is).

you didn't grow in status like falena did.

you didn't grow in magic expertise like leona did.

you didn't change. at all. and they loved to make you aware of that fact.
