A-T-4 144 Murray Head One Night In Bangkok

The internet is taking advantage of my love for this track and trying to deceive me. I'd love their to be an official 1984 Instrumental and Extended Disco Version but despite what you might find on youTube they don't exist. The extended version on the original 12" is the one with the long orchestral instrumental also known as Bangkok / One Night In Bangkok

That said this ai separated instrumental is pretty decent. The quality probably isn't good enough to play in a club, that's my personal opinion. I've been to doos where the sound of a notification kept coming through the speakers because the guy was playing off his phone and not disabled that feature, it's basic stuff... the other week I saw someone DJing off YouTube open in two tabs, he was playing dub but the bass was puny, Coxsone Dodd would be turning in his grave

One Night In Bangkok is from the musical Chess written by the lads from ABBA and Tim Rice, the soundtrack featuring the LSO who were on a high from Star Wars, ET, Indiana Jones etc. If Falco is eurorap then this definitely is, is it where Slick Rick gets his story telling skills from or was that Noel Coward? Is this the first example of rap in a musical, decades before Hamilton, or is that Rex Harrison and Why Can't the English? in My Fair Lady? The video for One Night In Bangkok (and I'm assuming the musical, I've not seen it) is "problematic"

The MC on One Night In Bangkok, Murray Head is the brother of Anthony Head from the Gold Blend adverts and, maybe less well known, Giles, Buffy's Watcher in Buffy The Vampire Slayer... those Gold Blend ads were a big deal in the UK. Murray Head has been recording since the 1960s and he performed on Webber and Rice's first hit Jesus Christ Superstar as Judas
