Me when “The eye of darkness” by George Mann preview came out and George Mann had the balls to write “Elzar had allowed Avar to take his hand in that moment, to lend him strength. He'd taken comfort from that; a shared understanding, a silent acknowledgment that they still had each other, despite everything. Despite the galaxy turning to chaos around them. But he cursed himself now that, lost in his own shock and grief, his own shame at what he had done, he had failed to ask Avar how she had felt. Had failed to offer her the comfort that she had offered him. And that pain she'd been carrying, that sense of loss and failure, had driven her away.” IM SICK TO MY GODDAMN STOMACH. WTF.
what would happen if a jedi got pregnant? what would happen to them? would they be forced to give it up? is there contraceptives they are forced to take? would they be forced to leave the order? are female jedi given the choice?
cuz like, we all know jedi aren't "celibate" but like what would actually happen if a jedi didn't want to give a child up?
like i know no one will probably answer this but i giggle imagining someone telling yoda and the jedi council that they're pregnant and they dont know what to do and the council is just exchanging side eyes lmao
like we know that ki adi mundi had multiple wives because his species was dying out but like... idk has anyone ever thought about female jedi in this scenario like??? what if a woman was in that position?
in usual fashion, star wars is male-centered and doesn't think about these things so here i am wondering about them.
ok so in the wake of the new acolyte trailer I decided to finally keep reading the high Republic books I've been meaning to get to, more specifically 'light of the jedi' and I read something I absolutely adored
so avar kriss
she has a very special connection to the force, needs to find a hunk of a damaged ship in the whole star system.
she sits down in a field of farmers crop saying that the force is extremely strong here, it's all around her. she floats up her saber and makes it start to spin like a windmill in front of her, she then uses this lightsaber and adjusts it's speed to channel the force to find the object like a kind of force magnifying glass to put it simply if crudely
i really love this and think it's a genius push to the boundaries of what can be done with a lightsaber when paired with the force and it got me thinking of maybe alternative ways that a lightsaber could be used.
what if a Jedi needs to push something that's far away, so they throw their saber in that direction, ignite it with the force and use the blade like an extension of themselves to push said object away? that would be so cool!
id love to see more of this in the new show, fingers crossed!
ps. avar kriss' lightsaber is so gorgeous and I love it
The like to dislike counter add on on YouTube is saying the acolyte has about a 50/50 ratio and I could care less. These people couldn’t handle being in the same vicinity of a minority why should I care about their opinion? If I like a show or not it should solely be based on the story. To judge something based off an actors race or sexuality is beyond pathetic. It’s just sad that this is what they spend their life doing.
Tep Tep appreciation post + EfV book thoughts (minor spoilers)
(Divider by @animatedglittergraphics-n-more)
I just finish Escape from Valo and I can’t get enough of the new characters they added, but I especially enjoyed Tep Tep. I adore Jedi whose shtick is that they commune with animals, it’s always the best and doesn’t get old in my opinion. Just one book and she already has to be one of my favorite characters to come out of the High Republic. Her being transgender is just the cherry on top and a big win. Protect Tep Tep!
WE NEED MORE REPRESENTATION IN STAR WARS, ANY AND ALL
I’m hoping we get to see more of Kildo & Gavi’s relationship, I’m curious on how it’ll turn out, them being Jedi and all. Ram’s “you guys are mine” speech made me tear up a little and this book made me really appreciate him more. Also more pirates!! Pirates are my favorite thing to see in Star Wars behind the Jedi & Sith of course, I want more pirate centric stories (it’s the One Piece fan in me wanting this). Phase 3 is really shaping up to be my favorite phase and I can’t wait to see what’s next and how it all ends!
Ima have to re-read the books with Ram in them and this book will be getting an encore reading ^^
Remember at star wars celebration they announced "Young jedi adventures" the Disney junior show that's gonna release on May 4th?
And on tiktok people keep referencing order 66 and the murder of the younglings
W e l l
Young jedi adventures takes place 200 years before the phantom menace ( the high Republic era)
So 230(ish) BBY
so obviously none of them will be alive to witness and fall victim to order 66
But there was a Republic space station that orbited the very small planet of eiram on the outer rim
This station housed jedi knights, their padawan's and younglings.
And in 230 BBY an attack on the station was launched by
Eye of the Nihil Marchion Ro
They disrupted the systems aboard and set of a bomb causing the starlight beacon to fall out of orbit and crash into the planet of eiram below leaving no survivors
So no the younglings of "Young jedi adventures" didn't die to the hands of anakin skywalker but they probably died after plummeting 420 km down into the planet of eiram :D
Common High Republic W giving us more new rep in a single book than the rest of the (None HR related) franchise probably will within a year.
Those two boys on the right? Gay as fuck for each other.
A fifth main character not on the cover? Non binary and it's so casual it took me ages to realise they use exclusively they/them.
Bring the total of nonbinary characters in the era to 5!
Then Spoilers cause its revealed halfway through the book.
The girl on the left?
She's trans!
You literally don't know till like page 200 in a flashback mentioning she's grown her hair out, changed her name and dorms recently and seems so much happier for it.
(We knew Ram beforehand hence why I'm not including him as new)
But yeah, you want queer rep? Join the High Republic!
You know, Santari and Dagan were also a really tragic pair that doesn‘t get enough attention IMO. They were pioneers together, they built a temple together and then everything came crashing down around them. Dagan couldn’t let go of Tanalorr and Santari couldn‘t let go of him. Yes, she stopped him, but she also saved his life and left him a path to Tanalorr in the hope that he‘d wake up and choose the light side again.
