Should I write a The Proposal Steggy fic? and would someone be willing to beta if I do?

I love fic where characters are put into an other story. I want to write more Steggy and I love The Proposal, I think they would fit very well. But would anyone read it?

2. What's your biggest [insert pairing] pet peeve(s)?

i wasn't sure if it meant fandom takes or my pet peeves about the pair, so i went for the former because i could not think of a specific pet peeve i have about them as a duo?

so, from a fanfic/fandom pov, it's probably when someone has a preference that is so obvious, it ruins the balance of the ship. for example, being able to tell that someone kinda dislikes steve by making him uncharacteristically mean, or forgiving and justifying all of tony's actions but catastrophising all of steve's etc. i think the beauty of stony is that they're both fucked up in their own way and they keep misstepping and trying to fix things, and portraying one as a victim and one as evil doesn't sit right with me (it can work for certain prompts, but i'm thinking more about some mcu canon fics/takes).

7. (Without naming names) what's something you've come across in a fic that made you genuinely uncomfortable and/or angry?

ahh, this is hard. one thing that comes to mind is when an immortal supersoldier steve pressured tony into taking a not-very-safe early version of extremis just so they can be together forever? or something like that. i remember thinking not only would steve never ask that of him, but he'd definitely be against the risks?

15. Name an aspect of [insert character] that you think gets frequently overlooked in fanfiction characterizations/deserves more attention/exploration

this is for mcu steve: i understand why we all kinda minimise steggy as part of steve's journey from a stevetony perspective, but i always feel like her death and steve having to carry her coffin in the midst of the civil war drama is a bit overlooked. i think steve was at an all-time low in that film, and it reinforces why he fought as hard as he did for bucky. after she passed, he was truly his only anchor to the past. and as much as i don't like his ending, i think steve fooled us all that he's fine and has adapted to the new century, but i think he carried this trauma with him all the way to the end, and when he saw an opportunity to belong again, he went for it. i guess my point is that, canonically, steve presents himself as strong no matter what, but i don't know that he ever felt fully at home in the future. so, even if he's happy with tony, i don't believe that would be enough to fix it all, and similarly to a widowed person who will always love their late partner because it wasn't a breakup that separated them, steve would always have a part of his past deep in his bones, and he would need therapy, and him and tony would have to navigate that, together.

I saw your post about fanfiction getting nitpicked. Listen, as a huge history nerd for whom accuracy is really important, I do not give a shit!! A character uses a word that wasn’t popularized until much later? Don’t care. Their clothing doesn’t fit the period? Not a problem. I read a fic one time that talked about a character crocheting using needles (I’m really passionate about crochet). Crochet doesn’t use needles, it uses hooks, and crochet wasn’t around in the time period the fic was set. And that is one of my favourite fics to this day!!! The only reason I even remember this example is because I’ve reread this fic a million times and know like every detail! These details don’t affect the enjoyment of a story, and if it does, then it’s a you thing, and you stop reading. At the end of the day, what matters is the story. I’m really sorry someone was being difficult about your writing. That’s absolutely a them thing, it has nothing to do with you or your work. 💗

That's what it was, a word that wasn't popularized later than the fic was set, and the thing is, I'm usually pretty cognizant of stuff like that bc I want to be! I have a steggy story that includes two versions of Bucky (one from the alternate timeline who got rescued from hydra early and then also mcu canon Bucky who pops in sometimes via time travel) and I remember making a point to have 40s Bucky say one thing, and 2020s Bucky said "awesome" in response to the same thing and I was proud of myself for remembering that detail and it showing the difference between the 2 Buckys but they were still reacting the same way bc they're the same person. And that's not something that gets noticed and commented about which is fine but another time I put less thought into it that gets called out 💀 and a lot of times I find real clothes from the exact year a story is set in and use them bc that's fun for me! But it never bothers me when I read someone elses story and theyre less accurate either. So ig that's why I was kinda :/ like damn ok my bad 😭 but seriously it's so sweet that you took the time to send this thank you sm bestie 🩷

Summary: Steve and Peggy's search brings them to Paris - where they happen to meet up with an old friend.

Warnings: an intense makeout session/implied sexual content (it’s not smut, i haven’t decided if I’m putting actual smut in this fic)

ᴏxғᴏʀᴅ, ᴇɴɢʟᴀɴᴅ

Steve wakes up in a cold sweat, bolting upright in bed. Was he still dreaming? Was this...was this real?

He gazes at Peggy - to make sure she was there, that all of this wasn't a mere fantasy, who begins to stir.

So, not a dream then, at least. His heart is racing, his mind buzzing and yet still confused and his breathing erratic. She's speaking to him, saying something, and he isn't quite listening, his heart thundering his ears. Adrenaline surges through his veins.

“I’m...I’m sorry, Peg. I didn’t mean to wake you up,” he whispers. His pulse was still racing.

Lightning illuminates the room for a split second and he can see the sympathy in her eyes.

"It's quite alright, Darling. Will you tell me what's wrong?" She asks, trailing her fingers through his hair.

"I...I don't- I don't remember much," he admits. "It was just...some stuff from the past...or, future..." he could almost laugh at that if he was in a better mood.

She nods sympathetically. "Is there anything I can do to help?"

He drinks in her appearance, nodding slightly. He presses his lips against hers softly.

He kisses her, gently and imploringly at first.

His one hand softly trails down her back, and he notices her sharp intake of breath when his hand ghosts over her lower back.

"This hurt?" he asks.

She nods stiffly. "I do believe I forgot to tell you with everything that happened tonight. I had a bit of a scuffle in the restroom with a Hydra agent. She slammed me against the sink," Peggy explains.

An idea forms in Steve's head; a single minded goal to make her forget.

He would make the only thing on her mind be him.

Wordlessly, he smiles and dips his head towards her neck, brushing his lips against it. His teeth graze against a sensitive spot on her neck and she makes a soft "Oh,"

His hands go to rest against either of her thighs. He pulls back, pupils blown.

“Steve,” she whispers. She lifts her hips in a silent invitation.

He leans down to kiss her, his lips against hers, and she's already breathless. He doesn't want to rush things, but he can't resist her.

Her hand slides down his back, and she lets out a soft moan against his mouth. His hands trail up her shirt, he can feel the goosebumps on her skin. He kisses her neck, and she can feel his hot breath against her skin.

"God, you're so beautiful. I love you," he whispers.

"I love you too," she replies.

He pulls her in for a desperate kiss once again, pulling her close.

The rain came and went, and with it sunshine followed.

“Peggy. Peggy, wake up,” is the first thing Peggy is greeted with in the morning.

Peggy groans, rolling over in an effort to ignore him. “No, not now,” she mutters, burying her face in the pillow.

Peggy feels weight on the bed as Steve sits down next to her. She tries in vain to ignore him.

"Oh, c'mon now, Peg. It's a new day, it's time to get up," he says.

“You are far too cheerful considering how early it is,” Peggy complains, shielding her eyes from the light pouring in from the blinds.

“...Peggy, it’s eleven in the morning.”

Peggy groans, glancing at the clock as if to make sure he’s right. “Point withstanding, you’re still too cheerful.”

“Somebody woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning,” Steve teases, narrowly missing a pillow flung haphazardly at him.

“Do shut up, Steve.”

He snickers.

Peggy yawns, stretching her sleep-infused joints. "Where are we going, again?"

"Word is our target's in Paris,” Steve replies. “Or at the very least, someone important is.”

Peggy hums, sitting up. The blanket wrapped around her falls off, revealing her bruised back.

"Jesus, Peg. Have you seen your back? That looks like it hurts," Steve notes.

"Yes, thank you for that insightful observation."

"I just mean- do you want ice or something?"

Peggy shrugs nonchalantly. "It doesn’t quite hurt. I can deal with it, I’ve faced worse."

“To be fair, you are the woman who fell asleep standing up in a trench.”

“Exactly,” Peggy winks. She stands up, beginning to sift through her suitcase. “So tell me, Steve. When’s our train leaving?”

ᴘᴀʀɪs, ғʀᴀɴᴄᴇ

A few hours later, they arrive at their dingy, rundown hotel just outside of Paris. The lobby smells like bleach and old carpet, and a radio plays a somber, mellow jazz tune.

Peggy clears her throat, waiting for the receptionist to acknowledge them.

The receptionist does not, however, care to notice.

“Can we have a room, please?” Peggy asks the woman at the front desk.

The woman hardly looks up from her magazine. “Name?”

“Carver,” Peggy answers automatically before Steve can.

The receptionist takes a long, seemingly never ending sip of her tea. Finally, she says. “Take the elevator to the third room, first one on the left. Here’s your key,” the woman says, sounding as disinterested as she possibly can. “Enjoy your stay,” she adds dryly.

Peggy eyes her warily. There was something a bit...off, about that woman.

Perhaps it was just her imagination.

They make their way to the elevator, and Steve finally breaks the silence. “So...is it just me or was there something weird about her? I mean, she could’ve just been a disgruntled employee, but…” he trails off, scratching the back of his neck.

Peggy hums. “No, I happen to agree. Though, perhaps we were just inconveniencing her by making her do her job.”

The smile fades from her face. “Stop,” Peggy whispers. She tilts her head toward the door, which was ajar. She clutches her gun in her purse.

Steve snorts. “Maybe,”

She laughs right along with him, but she pauses abruptly outside their door.

It could be the maid...but they haven’t even gotten into the room once.

Silently, the two stalk toward the door. The smell of smoke escapes from the room when Steve nudges the door open.

Which, in both of their experiences, usually did not happen to be a good thing.

In the chair in the corner, there sat...

Howard Stark.

A collective groan escapes the couple.

“Howard, must you break into our hotel room?” Peggy scolds, turning on the light.

“We thought you were an intruder.” Steve adds.

Howard smirks, taking a long drag of his cigar. “Technically, I am. But don’t you kids worry - I bring a peace offering. By peace offering, I mean I’m inviting you to stay in my Paris apartment instead of this dump,” Howard gestures loosely. “I mean, I don’t think this building even has heat.”

Steve shrugs. “Wouldn’t it be better to stay somewhere inconspicuous?”

“That’s what I was thinking,” Peggy agrees, her arms crossed.

Howard sniffs. “Okay, fine, don’t accept my extremely generous offer to let you stay at my apartment. I know when I’m not wanted. Just know I’ll remember that in the summer when you want to come over because I have air conditioning and you don’t.”

Peggy rolls her eyes. “Quit the melodramatics, Howard. We’ll stay with you,”

Steve wraps an arm around her. “Yeah, we- wait, we will?”

“...What? This building doesn’t have heat, and quite frankly I enjoy summer visits to Howard’s house.”

“Attagirl, Peg.” Howard beams. “I’ll meet you two in the lobby,”

Later, the trio eats lunch at Howard’s apartment.

"-you are not funny, Howard." Peggy informs him, pointing at him with her fork. "You could've at least feigned innocence."

"Innocent? If you looked up "innocent' in the dictionary, you'd see my picture on it," Howard says defensively.

Peggy snorts at that. "Oh, please, Howard. With your history you could easily father a small country,"

Howard grimaces. "Eugh, kids hate me. Plus, who has time to tend to a baby all the time? I mean sure, kids probably aren't annoying when they're...late teenagers? But for most of their lives, kids just seem so clingy and needy."

Steve picks at his plate absentmindedly, reminded of a conversation he had with Tony.

"Clearly, you must've met a different version of my father. He was cold. He was calculating. He never told me he loved me, he never even told me he liked me."

The sound of Peggy’s voice brings him back to reality. "...That's because they're children, Howard. Babies aren't self-sufficient from birth. Do you expect them to come out of the womb ready for rocket science?"

"Well, thank you for absolutely shattering my argument, Agent Carter." Howard mutters, downing his coffee. Deciding to change the subject in order to deflect attention off of himself, he says, "Steve, you still with us?"

Steve snaps to attention. "I, uh, yeah. I was just daydreaming, I guess."

Peggy makes a mental note to ask Steve about that later.

"Penny for your thoughts?" Howard asks.

Steve shrugs noncommittally, continuing to eat with much less gusto than before. "Just thinking about our mission,”

Peggy eyes him carefully, choosing to say nothing but clearly knowing something was wrong. In due time, she would ask.

In due time hopefully meant whenever Howard left the room.

lmao so like i was listening to a bunch of james bond songs bc they’re dramatic and spy-ey right (cough cough tho a song that fits the general tone of the fic would be "the world is not enough" by garbage)?? and then there’s absolutely none of that in this chapter lmao. sorry if this chapter was boring compared to last one but i mean we can’t have constant action in the fic, silly goose. 

also can we talk about how it took me like 8 DAYS TO WRITE THIS and it’s this short i’m sorry ajsjdfkgjjklk 😶✌

27.Ship that you expected to ship before reading/watching franchise and you do

Glee:

Well, I started watching when Blaine was introduced (actually apparently my first ep was Grilled Cheesus, but i didn't actively start watching until 2x06) so I don't really expect to ship anything, especially since before Glee and starting tumblr I didn't know what shipping was! (I was mostly reading Harry Potter and Twilight fanfiction at the time lol) so I guess the answer is none as I had no clue about it going in except 'ooo harry potter from avpm is in it' and 'that kid who's dad was in the hospital and he sung that song about holding hands is interesting i want to see more of him'

Though i guess Finchel could be an answer as i knew marginally who they were and i guess i ship them.

MCU:

I had watched Avengers simply because tumblr was going nuts about it at the time and my brother was a mild MCU fan and wanted to go see it. That was how I got into the MCU, I then went down a rabbit hole of Stony fic, so I guess Stony even though I no longer really ship it.

Also Steggy, I love them, do i still think Steve was an idiot for leaving to live his life with Peggy, a little, but I also really liked it. (though he should have just brought her back to 2023, where she could have been a badass woman with less sexism stopping her, but then that branch timeline woulda gone to shit without her basically running shield and... uhg timelines and the multiverse, my brain his hurting)

Glee:

^ as above. kinda no-one as i didn't know anything going into the show except Finchel and Wemma and I never expected I'd ship Wemma and I kinda don't/do/idk emma deserved better but they have their cute moments.

MCU:

I guess at the time (2012) there was an awful lot of Thorki stuff on tumblr (if I remember correctly?), but again, i never thought I'd ship it and I don't ship it soooooo

3. Favourite ship ever

I guess it flip flops? but the main theme is Kurt/Happiness lol

I was a huge Klaine shipper as the show aired, but that's petered off a bit now (still love them, but I'm 25 now, I can see the problems they have, but all canon glee couples do 🤷‍♀️)

I love Hevans at the moment, because I've realised how much I love Sam, and add him to Kurt who is my favourite character in any franchise ever? When they canonically have really good chemistry? 🥰😍

Most glee fics I read are Kurt ships. so yeah, Kurt/Happiness is my favourite ship ever. that boy deserves the world.

36.Characters that you can’t decide if you prefer as ship or brotp

Kelliot is the first to come to mind, I love them together and I think they would have made an amazing canon midgame (or even endgame) relationship for Kurt, but also... I love thier dynamic and I also have this headcanon that maybe Elliot is Aro/Ace which I want to hold onto. But boy does that man look at Kurt like he hung the moon and the stars (who can blame him though?)

For the fanfiction asks: 1 for Nobody's Baby?

1: What inspired you to write the fic this way?

Oh. I don’t know. My brain is a scary place. 

It originally started with Steggy Week. I had wanted to get back into writing all of quarantine, and even though I’d just gone back to work, Steggy Week hit at the right time and I was all in. (It’s kinda caused a writing Renaissance for me, I’ve written more in the last few months than I have in YEARS. I think it also says a lot about and how I manage my mental health, for better or for worse....)

ANYWAY... 

Nobody’s Baby started out as a short fic for Day 2: Cliches. Baby!Fic is one of my favorite genres and I hadn’t seen much Baby!Fic Steggy where they weren’t a happy family, so I went for it. I also wanted to see a bit of a bumbling Peggy with a baby, unsure what to do, completely anxious Steve that was willing to jump in and help... it all made a LOT of sense in my brain. 

 I meant it to be 2, maybe 3 chapters. 

Ha. Haha. Hahahahahahahahaha

Despite the small black hole of stuff I have yet to write, Nobody’s Baby is now 199 pages and 82,000 words, Baby Steps (the ficlets that live in the NB Universe) is 2475 words, and The Sequel (which will be posted after Nobody’s Baby is officially finished- because YES I WROTE THE FUCKING SEQUEL BEFORE THE FIC WAS DONE) is 16 pages and 6,000 words. And FUCK, I’m working on a third part, too. Because THANKS BRAIN. 

To be honest, I don’t exactly KNOW where the plot came from, I just didn’t want them to stop having the baby. I initially figured they’d protect her a few days then give her up. But then I was like, “Well, WHY did Hydra have her?” and it wasn’t a simple answer. And then I saw the possibility to get them out of the war and Save Steve and I was like YES, LET’S DO THAT and I think I just REALLY MISSED CRUISES because they are my favorite vacation and YES I would like to play house with Steve or CE on a boat with a baby ANY DAY LETS GO. And then things got dark, and I honestly think that’s a little of my own frustration and messed up mental state based on 2020 showing through. 

But to be honest this story is 100% writing itself. I came up with stuff like them being on the boat and there being an agent there LONG before I decided it needed to be Dottie/Ida. I knew they’d be held when they got back LONG before I decided Masters or Rose were going to be involved. I knew what the happy ending was LONG before I figured out a vague way to get there. 

I’ve already written the Epilogue. I have a VAGUE idea of how we’re getting there, but that’s my BIG BLACK HOLE of plot I’m working on now. Like, I know, but I’m not going to KNOW until I actually write it.

Ultimate otp: The only ship I know I will forever treasure is Pepperony (Pepper Potts and Tony Stark) from the MCU movies. I know that, even if canon ends ruining them in the end, part of me will always love them. Till my dying breath. They are the first pairing to make me feel that.

Ship you’ll always love: Usagi Tsukino/Mamoru Chiba from Sailor Moon, I think because they were my first ship even when I didn’t even know what a ship or an otp was. I was just a child and I wanted those two to stop arguing and live happily ever after. It started my love for arguing pairings I guess.

Current obsession: Pepperony, of course. They are the only pairing I still have the will to write fanfiction for. My only artistic inspiration.

Ship you never thought you’d like: Rumbelle from Once Upon A Time.  At the beginning I thought it would be a lazy rehash of Belle and Adam from Beauty and the Beast but done worse and in the end they absolutely won my heart. I needed those two to have their happy ending so badly damn.

Ship you liked but don’t anymore: I usually don’t stop shipping a pairing once I’ve started. I tend to love them through the years. The interest just gets less and less. Like Mary/Mathew because they killed him on Downton Abbey or Steggy because I loathe Steve’s characterization from AOU onwards. 

Ship that should be canon: I just want the marriage between Sansa Stark and Tyrion Lannister on GoT to become real. That they could know each other and fall in love. Love those two and I think they could be good to each other.

Canon ship you hate: reylo, usagi/seiya 

Pair I’ve been shipping for years: So many. God I think the leads of every movie and tv series I’ve seen like ever but I’ll name some of them: Han and Leia, Marion and Indy, The O’Connells (Rick and Evie), Pepperony, Usagi/Mamoru, Haruka/Michiru, Gabby/Joxer, Steggy, Elizabeth/Darcy, Wondertrev, all disney animation pairings my faves being Belle/Adam, Tiana/Naveen, Mulan/Shang, Rapunzel/Eugene, Megara/Hercules... 

Ship everyone loves but you don’t: Every ship in the MCU that pairs Tony Stark with whatever character he shares oxigen on screen. Examples: Stony, IronStrange, WinterIron, FrostIron... Minus Rhodey. Rhodey is excluded of this. I love Tony/Rhodey and I would die for Pepper/Tony. I would set myself on fire for Pepper/Tony. My OT3 would be Pepper/Tony/Rhodey. Everything else, not for me.

Fav rare pair: Gabrielle/Joxer from Xena Warrior Princess. I kinda loved them growing up. I was 13? Everyone else loved Xena/Gabrielle or Xena/Ares. We were so few in the fandom shipping Gabby/Joxer that we were bullied in every online community for the show. Until we created our own community on Yahoo. The GJRS (Gabrielle and Joxer Romantic Society). I have such fond memories from that Yahoo Group my God. I even got to write some fics for them, although they were in Spanish. And vided them.

I’m so happy that you like my writing!!!I’m super busy IRL lately unfortunately but I have several (too much probably…) ideas drafted for Steggy and World war threesome, as well as some snippets for Hold onto each other that need finishing and editing. 1) Dream job?

I’m actually pretty lucky in that I landed my dream job a couple of months ago - at least, it’s a job I always dreamed of and never imagined I’d get. I’m an editor of genre fiction - it’s tough but I love it so much!

2) French Mistake or Changing Channels?

Changing Channels - it’s so ridiculous and it always makes me giggle. 

3) What song has been stuck in your head lately?

Stacy’s Mom by Fountains of Wayne 

4) Who is your favorite female supernatural character?

This is really tough but I think it’s probably Charlie - mostly because she’s kinda like me! I adore her and wish she’d been around longer. I also super love Jody and Meg 2.0 - they’re both kickass in their own way.

5) What’s your favorite food?

Probably ice cream - it’s just utterly delicious. If I have to pick savoury then I’m going for a British roast dinner (made by my mum) with roast pork!

6) Favorite season?

I adore Autumn - crunchy leaves, crisp mornings, foggy breath and snuggly jumpers! It makes me very happy. 

7) Take out of homecooked meals?

I do like the occasional take out but I’m a big fan of home cooking. I cook alot and so does my husband and we’re always trying new things - yes it can take a while but it’s always worth it!

8) How has the internet/fandom changed you?

This is a tough one. I’ve been writing fanfiction with friends since I was twelve or thirteen, so it’s always been a part of my life. But, I’m very new to Tumblr (I resisted it for a long time) and since I’ve joined I’ve signed up for challenges and met some amazing people! 

9)  Favorite ships.

I love Dean/Cas but I’ve started falling into Dean/Cas/Jimmy as well (I wanna write something for this soon). I also love Sam/Jess and Sam/Eileen. Outside of Supernatural, I adore Scorbus (Harry Potter & the Cursed Child) and I like Zutara as well (Avatar: The Last Airbender). Also Steggy, Stucky and Peggy/Steve/Bucky. 

10) Do you have a pet?

Well I do have an elderly labrador but she lives with my mum as we can’t have pets in our flat. I’d love dogs and a horse though!

11) Favourite Holiday

I do love Christmas (because Christmas) but if I can count it, I’m counting my birthday. I love my birthday and this year I also got married on it as well, so it’s extra special!

this one will probably never see the light of day (the light of ao3? idk) but it is in the folder so thems the rules.

it's a continuation of the loosely-vine-inspired Steggy AU series, Roomates (highly recommend giving it a read, IMO it's kinda one of the best things you can find on my ao3 account) featuring Steve, Peggy, and Bucky being in the main avengers timeline, trying to adjust to the modern world and just generally being old people. it's a love letter to tropey-2013-everyone lives in avengers tower-type-fanfiction.
