sterek fic recs - all completed

i struggle big time when it comes to finding good sterek fic recs, so i thought i'd make a list of some of the soft fics i've found along the way.

stuck in reverse by crazyassmurdererwall (smartalli) - i've gone back to this one multiple times. it's got pack mum stiles, awesome character development for derek, their romantic relationship comes together naturally, and you even get jackson and stiles as best friends, which is one of my favourite tropes in teen wolf fan fiction. their relationship had so much potential to be fucking awesome and the writers just brushed over it, so i adore that fan fic writers love to build on it.

something more by kaistrex (weishen) - i actually really loved this one, the characterization is near perfect and it was so fucking romantic? the way their whole relationship comes to be is just so sweet and stiles makes it so simple and easy for derek, there's no pushing, no yelling, barely any angst. it's just a really wholesome fic which is honestly my favourite kind. i like the easy love kind of stories.

five times stiles woke up in derek's bed unexpectedly, and the one time it was on purpose by isthatbloodonhshsirt (wasterella) - this one is just super cheeky and soft; stiles keeps getting into rough situations and wakes up in derek's bed after every one. it's a whole lot of sweet fluff and stiles being insanely oblivious. good for when you want an easy and fun sterek read. i also recommend going through the entirety of this authors works, they have some really great fics, such as five time stiles fell out of a window and the one time he jumped and it's not pretend when it's real.

dysfunctional domesticity by yodasyoyo - a short and sweet christmas one shot, it's absolutely adorable and derek is a cheeky shit, i absolutely loved this one. i typically prefer longer fics, but i do enjoy a good one shot to get a quick fix of the ship i'm after.

gracious in defeat by yodasyoyo - another one from this author, i do recommend going through their works as well, they have some really sweet stories. this one is a soft one about stiles going to stay with derek to try and escape the hell that is being trapped in beacon hills. there is so much domestic bliss in this story, it felt so pretty to read, if that makes sense. there is a small bit of angst, but it gets resolved pretty quickly. i'd definitely read this more than once. derek is so vulnerable in this fic, and the characterization was great.

STEREK Fanfic Fanart

Found a new STEREK fanfic gem that I just loved and wanted to recommend it to everyone. It is called "Devoured" by Hedwig221b and to just give a brief summary; Derek is the God of Lust and Stiles is his virginal sacrifice, who outsmarts him in the best way possible.

This definitely belongs among my favourite "#Possessive Derek Hale" fics.

Four years after season two, after the pack has solidified and are attending school in Southern California, civilization crashes to a halt that kills most modern electronics. Yeah. Stiles’ dad is way overprotective. He’s the sheriff too, so even if Stiles tried to be bad, he’s got every single deputy keeping their eye out for Stiles.

But there aren’t any deputies here and it’s not like Stiles is at some crazy party where he feels anxious and nervous. So….

“We don’t have to drink any of it if you don’t want to. You just asked to see the stash so… here it is,” Derek says and Stiles knows he means it. There’s no pressure at all coming from Derek. He would’ve been content to eat pizza and play video games all night if that’s what Stiles wanted to do.

Stiles opens the vodka bottle and sniffs. He doesn’t smell anything. It might as well be a bottle of water. Without any more thought, Stiles decides to be bold and just goes for it and takes a huge sip.

“Whoa, Stiles wait-” Derek tries to warn him, but Stiles is going for it and ignores him.

And big mistake. HUGE.

Fuck. FUCK. That is maybe the worst sensation he’s ever felt. It fucking burns. Stiles knew alcohol could burn, but he had no idea it was like this.

He forces his gulp of vodka down and coughs, his eyes watering and face pinched together.

“Jesus Christ,” Stiles says, sucking in a breath and Derek is laughing. Stiles just had the worst first sip of alcohol ever and Derek is fucking laughing.

“I’m sorry. I tried to stop you,” Derek says, taking the vodka out of Stiles’ hand to put the cap back on. “But you just went for it. I’m just glad it wasn’t the whiskey, you would’ve died.”

“Ha ha. Laugh it up,” Stiles says, shaking off the shot he just took. His body already feels a little warm. “Jeeze and people like that?”

“Normally people have chasers for shots or they mix it with something else. But you party hard, Stilinski.”

“Hey, you’re the expert here. You have to teach me,” Stiles says, a wide grin on his face as he sits down on the floor where Derek is still kneeling.

“Oh, so I’m teaching you now?” Derek asks, highly amused as he sets the bottle down on the floor. “I’m happy to share my drinking expertise, but I gotta warn you, I’m not the raging party animal you think I am.”

“You have a secret stash of alcohol and a fake ID. That’s pretty hardcore,” Stiles points out.

Derek shakes his head, chuckling. “At least you think I’m pretty,” He teases.

Stiles laughs. “The prettiest,” He says and honestly it's true. Derek is pretty. He’s got pretty eyes and his silky dark hair is pretty and his face is-

Okay. That’s enough of that.

“Do you actually want to drink?” Derek asks, and he’s not being judgemental. Stiles can tell. He wants to make sure Stiles is completely comfortable with it, which makes Stiles feel safer, so he nods.

“I don’t want to go crazy and get drunk or anything, but yeah, I’d like to try,” He says.

Derek smiles and gets up. “Alright. But no more shots. I’m going to make you a drink you’ll actually like. Wait here,” He says and then he’s out the door, leaving Stiles in Laura’s bedroom.

Hey all, it's Gruul. I've been doing a lot of reading these past couple of years, and ofc I love all my fandoms and my OTP's, each of them hold a special place in my heart. I really love the dark and gritty, angsty, oblivious idiots in love tropes. Sterek matches everything perfectly in all categories and if you can't ever find what you're looking for, you can write it. Ever since TW (Teen Wolf) aired and Stiles and Derek were introduced I was like yeah, these two belong to each other, its gonna happen right? Nope, teased, yes but never canon. Like all fans, I wasn't happy with this so I went head first into the deep dive for the fanfiction and boy did I find them. Some are so good you can't help but reread them, over and over again. UNTOUCHABLE

One more little fanart dedicated to the masterful Hedwig221b and her Sterek fanfic "Untouchable." I personally have a deep love for A/B/O aus, but the thing I loved the most about this story was the fact it was predominantly written from other characters´ points of view. This scene was for instance Issac´ pov of seeing Derek and Stiles in deep embrace before Stiles´s dorm room and I really loved the idea of them being so deeply lost in one another, Derek´s leather jacket wrapped around Stiles´s shoulders and pulling Stiles as closely as possible, peppering his face and neck with kisses. No care in the world for anything or anyone else.

As a note, these largely range from ~vaguely medieval~ to incredibly well-researched SPECIFIC 'Medieval' to ~general regency ish~ to VERY Regency to various points in between.
