Regulus feels very, very bad.

They’re currently crowded in front of the living room door with their grandkids because—

Because they’re a bunch of useless, horrible adults that have gotten way too tipsy on mulled wine last evening over charades. Regulus was riding high on his win over Harry in Monopoly and so he might have had one or two or three sips too many. Or cups.

And so when they’d all bid their Goodnights and gotten ready for bed, pleasantly tipsy and airy-minded—distracted what with James nosing at the dark curls behind Regulus’ ear as he was brushing his teeth and then the press of him, a hard line against the seam between Regulus thigh and bum, when he’d bent Regulus over to spit out the toothpaste into the sink—well, there’s no pleasant way to say that they forgot to put the bloody presents under the tree.

And Regulus often doesn’t wake up anymore after all the years of sharing a bed with his husband but he remembers having woken up to James babbling about ‘The gifts, honey- wait, the gifts’ and Regulus in his barely state of consciousness had simply told him to shut it, pulled James head into the crook of his neck and forced him to fall asleep again, goddamnit.

The looks on their three, round, big eyed, little faces had just about nearly broken Regulus’ heart and that was before he’d seen Harry blanch and turn white as a sheet.

Luckily Regulus has married someone who’s good at improvising and so James had casually draped against the doorframe and told them that, “Ah, don’t worry, loves– It’s a leap year! Santa always starts a little later to deliver the presents during those years!”

Which leaves them hiding out in the hallway right now while Harry quietly brings in the presents through the kitchen. 

“Just a glimpse, Pops!” Louis whispers loudly, leaning his little body with all of his 5 year old body strength against where James has a single broad palm over his small chest.

“Nah-uh, Louibear,” James whispers back from where he’s squatting behind him. 

Regulus knows his knees will pop something horrible when he stands up but the sight of his husband’s thick thighs filling out the pleated pyjama bottoms is making Regulus selfishly keep his smart mouth shut.

“But Grandpo-ops!” Louis whines.

Chelsea shushes him immediately and rather aggressively. She’s between Regulus’ knees, bouncing up on the balls of her feet every now and then, her pigtails tickling Regulus’ nose.

Teagan is draped over James’ wide back and continuously throwing Regulus conspiratorial looks and mischievous little smiles. She’s 8 now, the Santa bubble has already been burst for her.

Regulus winks back at her every time.

“We have to wait until Santa is done putting all his presents under the tree, bug.” James drives placating fingers through their grandson’s wild hair before he goes on in a gentle murmur, “If we go and disturb him now he’ll bolt out through the chimney, up on his reindeer sled and whisk away with half of the presents that were meant for our family, you see.”

Louis gasps horrified.

James bites down on the smile trying to break to the surface. It’s unfair how handsome he looks in the dim light with his hair sleep mussed and his trimmed beard sprinkled white like the snowflakes making their way onto the ground outside.

Regulus forces his eyes away when Chelsea makes a little pained, squirming noise. Like she’s barely suppressing ripping herself from Regulus’ loose embrace and dashing through the door back into the living room.

There’s a clatter of wood and then a badly imitated Hohoho from what Regulus recognises to be Harry.

Louis and Chelsea look at each other with wide eyes and then back at James and Regulus respectively, vibrating with anticipation yet waiting politely for permission.

His husband throws Regulus a warm grin, a hint of teeth and a glint in his chocolate brown eyes that makes his heart stumble a little in his chest.

Regulus rolls his eyes and gives him a single nod. He kisses the side of Chelsea’s head and tells her to go on.

She barrels through the door with a squeal followed closely by a skittering Louis where he’s hasting over the smooth linoleum after his sister in his too big, woollen socks. Teagan throws Regulus another excited grin and then rushes after her younger siblings as well.

When Regulus pulls out of his seat there’s only a faint sting in his lower back while as James follows the motion his husband instantly buckles under his renewed weight, joints predictably cracking several loud pops. 

Regulus snaps out his arm for James to steady himself as this one grunts and pants under the pain and slowly lifts himself into an upright position.

Regulus snorts. “Getting old, Potter? Shouldn’t have been so enthusiastic with bending me over that bloody sofa ledge last night, huh…”

James growls playfully as he yanks Regulus closer by his arm though he catches his husband wince at the sudden motion of that half step.

He squeezes Regulus hip bone, right over the teeth mark he put there a few hours ago and then it’s Regulus’ turn to suck the air in through his teeth.

“Worth it,” James rasps low into his ear before kissing a fluttering path up Regulus’ jaw until he finally reaches his mouth, tilting his chin back with two fingers.

Regulus sighs happily into James’ mouth, shivers at the familiar sensation of beard rasping against his own stubbly skin.

They’re ripped out of the moment by Chelsea’s voice droning around the corner, “Gramps, look! Santa brought you dried cat grass for Mochi!”

“Cat grass?” comes Harry’s confused voice from the living room.

Regulus scrunches his nose at James, sharing the cluelessness. James shrugs.

Crinkling sounds, then Teagan’s voice, “It smells weird.”

“Fu– That is not cat grass, Chelsea!” Harry responds panicky, “Honey, please put that down right now. I’m not joking, sweetheart. No, gimme– unhg.”

Regulus raises his eyebrows at James but his husband simply tugs his lips in and hurries into the living room, presumably to help his son purloin the weed from his six year old little grandchild.

That other anon was being an asshole, but I am curious about what you had planned for EfC? Not gonna lie, I'll miss the cast—would be nice to know what happens to who!

I'm still unsure what I'll do with EfC. I might come back to it once this current period of my life is over, though it'd likely be very different. First of all, it'd be a shorter story. I'd either get rid of some of the ROs, or find some way to better integrate them into the narrative (compare Harry, who you can have this huge, important backstory with vs Val, whom I love but is also just some guy, I guess?). It'd also probably be more focused on romance since that's usually what interests me the most in IF anyway.

I also might scrap a lot of it and stick to the storylines that interest me the most—mainly the Harry stuff. A shorter game dealing with The Hedonist returning to Court and having to face Harry sounds really fun to write, and it'd be a lot less complex to plan than this whole mess. Also, Harry is definitely a more developed character than some of the other ROs. For example, I love Camila to death, but she doesn't have much significance in the story other than "The Hedonist's friend" and I was never able to find her some meaning.

I'd also make The Hedonist even more of a fixed character by getting rid of all personality stats and focusing solely on their actions instead of worrying about personality. The stats were all carried over from CoG, and it's never been something I enjoy in their brand of IF. I was going to do this anyway when I first transferred the game to Twine, but stupidly asked Tumblr what they thought and, since most people preferred keeping the stats, I did that even though I didn't really want to.

As for to what would happen to the cast... In case I do come back to EfC, I don't think this would change much, so I'll put it into a read more in case someone doesn't want to know. If anyone has any more questions, don't hesitate to ask!

Also, Cordelia was The Hedonist's twin who drowned in front of them, but that was a bit obvious, wasn't it? I'd definitely remove that from any rewrites, it's so unnecessary and cliché.

Henry would divorce Elizabeth to be with Nicholas. The Hedonist could either support him on this or not.

Due to the divorce, the rest of the family would be disgraced in Court. Evie's reputation is a little less affected if she's still with Harry.

As I mentioned in the past, The Hedonist can choose whether to stay in Court or not at the end.

The Hedonist and Evie can repair their relationship or not. Evie eventually makes an effort to become friends with The Hedonist, and you could choose whether to play nice or not. If The Hedonist romances Harry and you manage to have a good relationship, she forgives you, but asks for some time away from both The Hedonist and Harry.

I didn't really plan Camila's character arc well. She becomes a Republican rebel and can either still be friends with The Hedonist or have distanced herself a bit if they continue to be an asshole.

Sabina can choose to no longer be a nun if encouraged either by a friend or romanced Hedonist. If you romanced her but didn't encourage her to leave the convent, she dumps you. (Note: You later find out she was forced to become a nun by her family.)

Similarly to Sabina, Narcissa can choose to break things off with the Emperor if, again, encouraged either by a friend or romanced Hedonist.

Calvin's ending is the wildest one, actually. He finds out he's a father after the boy's mother passes away. The Hedonist can either tell him to abandon the boy or tell him to raise him (if Calvin is romanced, they kind of become a step parent).

Val can be encouraged to start studying to become a librarian. Also, his whole thing is that his father is the Emperor lol

Lastly, horse boy Harry will want to divorce Evie if romanced and marry The Hedonist instead. If you refuse to marry him, he divorces her anyway but doesn't stay with The Hedonist. A friend!Harry stays with Evie, I think? I don't know.

i did see a post about how marvel keeps shoving steggy down our throats and the way stucky shippers shot themselves in the foot by making peggy/steggy so prominent in fic and like lol fanon is not responsible for canon (though it sounds like every what if steggy storyline is ripped straight from stucky fic - and stucky canon lol) but it really is crazy when you think how much of the significance put into steve and peggy's relationship was based on fanon rather than what was actually on screen bc outside of catfa it was *harry styles voice* not that important so it's like....how did people who aren't relying on that fanon buy into it? i know part of it is the movie itself convincing the audience it makes sense and also probably the fact that she kept popping up in the mcu over the years but it was virtually never to convince us she was still the tragic lost love endgame made her out to be

When do you think the window will close for HL to become a power couple or to CO and make a big impact? I was just thinking about how Nicholas is gaining a lot of attention and he's almost 29, not far off Harry. His age hasn't really worked against him. Same with many other musicians and actors who are in their 30s upwards and are doing great. I don't know why but it feels different with HL. Maybe it's because they've been in the limelight for so long. Generally speaking, they're very boring compared to other celebrities. Their images haven't changed much since the beginning of their solo careers. Whereas someone like TS keeps reinventing herself. Harry is still a womanizer and Louis is still a laddy lad. Because they're in the closet they're not unleashing their full potential. It holds them back in every way. It affects both of them but I think it especially affects Harry. He looks so tired and fed up. It would be a huge weight off them if they CO. The longer it takes them to CO the less impact it'll make.

I think mostly it's because as you say, they haven't really reinvented themselves. They don't have social media precence and is not engaging their audience in other ways. It's like they're tired of playing these games and they're low effort and low energy.

They've also got so much baggage, so many loose ends to tie up before everything is forgiven and forgotten. As much as they are going for a blank slate, the slate is alredy full of paint. They can't rid themselves of their history and former actions.

You misunderstand me, anon. We are talking about H's career not being designed to last until he's 80yo here. He can't stunt until he's 80 and expect to keep his fans. I see you mentioned that you are on twitter, so what im about to say might not be news to you but I have to disagree with that ask mentioning Harry’s new stuntship is garnering positive attention, full disclosure im not on tiktok but I have been monitoring Harry/Harries/Larries on other social media platforms like twitter/instagram/tumblr to see the reaction of his fandom, I have to say that there is a general indifference to H and her, most of their outings don’t even make noise outside of a relatively small portion of Harries (im basing this on comparing the numbers of interactions Harry gets on his own versus he gets with her, bigger update accounts dont even posts updates on them (it is funny that hld does and other dont lol) -i saw his team got an account posing as a new pop culture account post about them tho it is hilarious), he has a large fandom that is known to be online all the time so a couple of hundreds of people talking about those outings is nothing compared to thousands of people reacting to his ‘newest’ tattoo reveal, funny enough that is the most he was talked since the tour ended, that must be alarming to his team seeing that he has a new fling, so we know how exciting and erratic that gets within fandom with girlfriend harries acting like they are the ones in the honeymoon period of said relationship and larries trying to prove that it is yet another pr attempt, larries have the biggest “whatever” energy I have seen we have when it comes to this, what must be concerning for them is that this is not a consequence of conscious effort on fandom’s part, people just don’t care. I’m of the opinion that his team pit hets against larries or vice versa to generate nonstop convo surrounding Harry, but that is not happening rn. I give them that they tried something new with this pr, they chose a poc interest which became a hot topic for just a minute but people quickly got used to that “reality”. However some poc harries are not as much pleased by this situation bc they are realizing that so much of Harry’s public persona and life is just him/his team reacting to how he is perceived so they are feeling like this is not something genuine but an attempt to savor a part of Harry’s image -this i observed in older harries (when i say older I mean people aged 22 and above), younger ones are just accepting it as is.

A rebrand doesn’t have to mean a coming out. It might just be changing the target audience, changing music genre or changing clothing style. Maybe he's doing more movies or maybe he wants to start a luxury clothing brand. We don’t know.

Hussell will never be a power couple. She's too unknown and not on his level. And i don't think Harry would want that either. He'd look visibly unhappy and uninterested if they tried that. More than he already does with her now.

2. what’s your favorite moment with your least-favorite doctor?

My least favorite Doctor is 4, so that’s frankly a lot of material to comb through looking for the brightspots, forgive me if I’m forgetting something that should be obvious

(The honest answer would be saying it’s something from the audios Deleted Scenes or Fate of Krelos/Return to Telos, but I’m resisting that urge because it feels like cheating, since the things I don't like about 4 are all on TV. In the EU I’ve only interacted with things of his that feature characters I do enjoy, so for all I know the majority of his audios might address those issues, and it’s only TV 4 specifically that I’ve got anything against)

I like a lot of his back-and-forth with Romana I, especially in The Ribos Operation, though I think it’s largely due to Romana more than him. Her presence - and her introduction in particular - give him someone to bounce off who it’s harder to effectively be superior towards, so his general attitude feels less bullying with her than it can be with some other companions, right from the start - but also, since he’s got every right to be a bit offended that he’s suddenly been handed an assistant by higher powers, his resistance towards her is not only justified but more compelling to watch than when he’s being down on someone like Harry or Leela, which in my opinion is the kind of Doctor-Companion tension that detracts and distracts from a story, and gets old pretty quickly. His later interactions with Adric could also be considered a favorite of mine - especially when they’re more or less traveling alone together in Keeper of Traken and Logopolis - because they similarly bring out a new side to the character that I appreciated, again putting him in a position he doesn’t quite know how to deal with - so I feel like we see a little more genuine-ness from him than usual, even if it’s just that he’s genuinely perplexed/at the end of his rope with this teenager.

16. is there a character you feel is generally misunderstood by the fandom?

I hear the words ‘character fandom doesnt get’ and Rose Tyler will forever be the face that comes to mind. But I feel like that’s still a somewhat spicy topic, and while the things I have to say about her are definitely not hate & honestly not even negativity towards her as much as a rejection of the more popular interpretations of her character, it still feels safer not to get into it lol. “Let people enjoy things” & all that

I think One is hugely flattened out by the fandom, to the point that when I first started Classic, I was convinced I wouldn’t like Two at all because of how surprised I was by how much I liked One. Yes he’s older and stuffier than his immediate successor, and yes William Hartnell was playing a character inherently different from what the brief is these days, but even people who talk about One in a positive light can frequently skip over many of his complexities & the different sides he absolutely does show us over his time in the role, to focus on his significance as The First & the character who established the show. Like he only gets partial-credit as an incarnation.

Six too - people often say his audios redeemed his character, but from what I’ve heard of them so far, his character hasn’t really changed at all, even though the caliber of plots he’s handed does improve (though I also don’t think his TV plots are that bad, I can’t pretend the audios haven’t been on the whole more polished). I understand why Six is so often painted as one of the meaner Doctors, but in a way it couldn’t be further from the truth - he’s abrasive for sure, but he’s SO liable to be sarcastic, pretentious, and downright scathing that the show embraces that, and even his messier TV-plots tie it in so that any serials that feature him being particularly morally questionable in one place also make a point of proving him to be ultimately good-hearted later on, in a way that doesn’t get prioritized with other Doctors who are less overtly biting. When 6 says something mean and then does something that really shows how much he cares, he comes off as both a kinder and more complex character than 4 continually walking through the universe talking down to people, but doing it with enough ‘charm’ that it doesn’t jump out to the writers as requiring addressing or justification. With 6 it feels like a trait that’s actively utilized in his episodes.

And this one does stretch my definition of ‘fandom’ a bit but there’s hardly a classic companion, but especially the 60s and especially the women, who I wouldn’t argue falls into this category. It hardly even feels worth mentioning in this context, because in my experience it’s not a problem among fans of that era & therefore the bulk of people who tend to be discussing Barbara, Susan, Vicki, Sara, Katarina, Dodo, Polly, Victoria, or Zoe... but then again, it’s 2022, so I suppose if you know any of them well enough to even mention at all, you are a fan instead of a casual viewer, and I’ve certainly seen reductive takes that must then technically count as ‘fandom misunderstanding a character.’ And I get how that would happen - the 60s is the beginning of the show, and format-wise, the most distinct from what comes after it (black&white, missing episodes, really diverse serial lengths all spliced up into 20-minute mini-plots) - and as such, it’s likely to’ve been watched by fans of later eras who are curious to make a comparison, but not necessarily likely to appeal to them itself, so you’d get a fair number of people who are more “fans of Doctor Who who’ve watched the era” without being “fans of the era.” But let’s not reduce our assessment of female characters to whether or not they scream a lot and then pretend that’s a feminist perspective, shall we? Just say you didn’t pay enough attention to her episodes to actually speak on behalf of her character and move on, jeeze. Don’t pretend that’s all there is to her just because you went looking for some poor un-emancipated female character from the past to cite as a talking point in your pre-written & deeply unoriginal argument about how far television/Doctor Who has come over the years

(This answer is already way too long to get into another rant, but I think that last one has a lot in common with EU writers who have to invent a new Jamie for their book because they’re writing for 2, so Jamie’s gotta be there, but they clearly missed or never really enjoyed how he was actually characterized onscreen.)

18. what other piece of media would you recommend to fans of doctor who?

ugh that's so hard because I think it depends so much on what you think of as the defining/alluring feature of Doctor Who, and there are so many it must change person-to-person. Plus, a large part of it being my favorite show is that I don’t think there are many other things like it at all. But I’ll try:

Obvious answer, but Star Trek TOS for highly-episodic, stand-alone stories through space/time. TOS’s years perfectly overlap with the Second Doctor’s run, and that alone makes for a v interesting comparison, both in content & production values/approaches (someone write a book on this so I don’t have to)

Hitchhikers Guide & Dirk Gently - also obvious, but despite the 4th Doctor’s run being a low-point for me personally, I do think the combination of tone & literal randomness in Douglas Adams’ stuff is very DW-ish in general. The 2016 Dirk Gently series especially is quite different from the books, but absolutely weird enough (while still being interesting & plenty follow-able) to appeal to an audience that’s into NuWho/I might even say Torchwood tbh. Honestly even Adams’ nonfiction Last Chance to See (a book recounting his travels to witness endangered animals all over the globe) might also appeal to Dr Who fans, again for its unique voice/tone, but also its approach to humanity’s history w/our environment & what we both hope & fear for the planet’s future. It’s more memoir than science, so it’s very Important Science Topic Through The Lens of a Lay Person, which I feel is itself the approach Doctor Who takes in exposing companions/its audience to the crisis of the week & its real-world relevancy

I know there have been short stories by Jorge Luis Borges, Nikolai Gogol, and Ray Bradbury that have the vibe of Doctor Who stories, but obviously that varies from story to story & I’m unhelpfully blanking on many of the specific ones. Bradbury’s Martian Chronicles in particular feels like a very relevant choice though - it’s basically a series of independent short stories that all take place over the course of several decades chronicling humanity’s attempts to colonize Mars. It definitely has that Doctor Who-ish mix of the scifi and the mundane and I think you could see anyone from like, Barbara & Ian to Amy & Rory inhabiting the same world these events are taking place in - it’s got that very slight touch of fantasy about it in some ways, and also reminds me a bit of the prose Short Trips. (oh and I just remembered Big Finish adapted some of them for audio with Derek Jacobi & Hayley Atwell!)

I haven’t read enough of H G Wells (including the literal Time Machine, I know, I know) but War of the Worlds might appeal to DW fans - I was surprised by how much the book focused on the impact an alien invasion had on everyday life, but really, that’s the whole point of it! So perspective/vibes-wise, I consider it Doctor-Who-like in that it’s scifi that’s not hugely about the complex lore or world of the aliens, but a couple of human people who are frankly shocked by suddenly having to handle life-threatening aliens in England. Donna in Turn Left could’ve been living in this book, if that makes sense.

The Road to Mars is a novel actually written by one of the Pythons (Eric Idle) and I don’t think it’s all that popular, since sketch comedy guys aren’t typically who you go to for scifi novels - but in that vein it’s sort of on its own, definitely not reliant upon a ton of high-concept/heavy scifi lore, it’s funny, and presents a universe that sounds compatible with some versions of the future that exist in Doctor Who. It’s about a comedy duo & their android who are just trying to make the rounds across the solar system as low-end performers & accidentally get caught up in a Big Scifi/Political Plot, so I’d say it has Doctor-Who-level antics & the wrong-place-wrong-time premise that has prompted many a serial

If 60s British television (at Limegrove Studios specifically!) and/or Peter Capaldi are enough to hold your interest in something that bears little resemblance to Doctor Who itself, I’ve been singing the praises of BBC’s The Hour for about a decade now, but it’s not at all scifi so that’s probably a weirder recommendation.

I’d also throw in The Umbrella Academy - I enjoy the comics but like Dirk Gently, the TV show probably has more in common with Dr Who - for time travel as a major plot element, characters forced to work/grow together in one of the weirder definitions of found family, and a world that’s allowed to be strange & interesting and sometimes unexplained (ie no dense lore behind its scifi parts, while still having plenty to think through w/paradoxes & foreshadowing to figure out & keep you engaged)

I’m not terribly far into it myself, but the Discworld series for that same anything-could-happen, sometimes it’s very stand-alone, sometimes it’s characters you’ll get very invested in, funny but poignant fantasy/scifi universe that doesn’t take itself too seriously but can make some Extremely Good Points through genre fiction

You just give this plot to this character and that plot to another one and all of a sudden you have Rogar Baratheon on steroids walking around yet they are calling him Viserys :D (please tell me you know what he does to Anemia on the show), and you have someone walking around with daddy issues, who wants to be a knight (lol stfu you are no Lyanna and no Arya) who gave 0.1 f_cks when her mother was opened like a pig :)) because what’s important is that daddy - who is a psychopath at this point - loves us.

ok so to clarify i've been following you for forever but tbh idk for how long, why, or where i originally know you from. i'm not invested or involved in the harry fandom (harries? idk the term) but some of the asks you get just seem so wild. like i'm an outside observer and you're my primary source for all harry esque/ olivia adjacent info here on tumblr so it's just been a ride lol. i know obv you're biased as much as anyone is but tbh even coming from someone with a semi skewed lense it seems pretty blatant that a lot of his fans are just weird. too personally involved, constantly projecting their own fantasies on him, pressuring him when he doesn't conform to their set narritave, and just overall lack of boundaries or respect of privacy. i was never involved in the golden 1d days bc i'm a big ole lez and i was using being "not like other girls" as an excuse to not talk about boys but even my friends in the deepest parts of their phase were never this gross, and that's when we were all degenerate preteens & teens writing unhinged fanfic and getting catfished on kik. some of these people still harping on about larry and making up the most batshit conspiracies are full grown adults. like my fellow adult friends who still care about 1d (liam, zayn, harry, niall, louis, and their respective music and relationships) don't act like this. the most 1d drama i've heard from them has to do with liam cheating on his significant other or zayn apparently defending his kid/attacking his mother in law. and even that didn't really break the main news streams for more than a hot minute. they do mention harry more often (hearing about olivia getting served custody papers in public was kinda funny ngl) but that's honestly just bc harry news is so saturated and widespread. harry fans have, imo, always been the most. out of all the boys he somehow amassed the worst of the 1d crazies who kept up w him after the band disbanded and honestly were obsessed with him from the beginning. all in all you a soldier fr.

But to this day, I still don't think they ever broke up for any significant amount of time since 2010. But any sort of arrangement is possible in long-term relationships like theirs, so who knows what they've tried in the past, or are even trying now...as long as everyone is happy and not sexually frustrated, everything is valid, and it's none of our business really. Personally, I just think Harry seems too much of a jealous bitch to let anyone else touch his man LOL and they don't really give me that vibe as a couple. But again, what the fuck do we know! I'm trying to take a step back and think, like. What a songwriter could see in a hall(way). I see it as a place where there's "traffic", lots of stuff passing through, never settling. A place that offers many possibilities and private spaces behind doors. It could be the waiting stage, like a purgatory, waiting to know if you can come in or not, in which case you just have to...sleep on the floor, in the cold, in the dirt. But you just can't stay there eternally. Get in or get out yk.

In MMITH, Harry is in the hall, waiting, begging for someone to come out of their room. He was already in the room before and he misses who/what's inside already "give me some more", "once you go without it, nothing else will do". I honestly... can't tell if it's about himself, like a prequel to Only Angel, or if he's in the hall of someone he's super intimate with. Someone that is just too deep in their head like Pink was and who refuses to open up. Or both or neither yk

In Only Angel, "she" is locked inside a room and Harry wants to come in so bad he's ready to break his hand and even then, he still has to crawl. I take it as "he wasn't ready to enter that room yet, and it affected him terribly". When he mentions meeting her in the hallway every single time, I can picture the scene as in "I saw you once, twice, all the time but only passing, I had to get more." Hence him literally breaking into her room, somewhere they could both... sit down and get to know each other more hopefully.

All in all, Harry can't stand being left in the hallway in this album. He needs to get better, he needs to be there, inside. I think this could mean he really wants to know himself/his significant other, after years of celebrity frenzy and not having the time to sit down and breathe, years of only passing rooms without ever getting to enter them. So yeah, the hallway being a place of traffic, of nothing ever settling down, where ghosts pass by boooo.

In Brain Damage, the opposition between "in the hall/in my hall" reads like this to me:

First, the speaker sees the lunatic in the literal hall, the morning paper on their threshold. More and more of those lunatics are discussed in the paper everyday. Next thing, the lunatics are making their way into the speaker's mind, "my hall". You know, the way you could recognize and get to know yourself through medias, except here I don't think... good things were said about the lunatics in the paper. Makes me think of that line in Mother: "Mother, do you think they'll try to break my balls?" which kinda makes you laugh at first cuz lol bawlls but then you think a bit of the historical context, post WW2, Alan Turing's highly-publicized trial and... oh.

And from there, the lunatic goes further than the hall, the lunatic enters the room and settles for good in the speaker's mind: "the lunatic is in my head". Charming things ensue, like medical interventions and plain imprisonment to get rid of the lunatic, except with all of this the speaker does not recognize themselves anymore without the lunatic roaming free in their head:

I believe Pink, secluded deep inside his mind, is trying to reconnect with whoever's in command of the body, whatever's left of Pink to the outside world. And that part of Pink is breaking bottles, violent and mad intoxicated (since right before Pink was taking out his anger on a groupie and a hotel room before ultimately attempting to "fly", it makes sense). This is not who he really is, but what the world has turned him into. This is just the surface of him who's breaking bottles in the hall.

And I think the "real Pink" is trying to reach out to that "facade Pink" because the real Pink is attacked by the worms, so he desperately needs to "get out of his head" and gain back control of himself fully. I ranted a bit about the worms and the brain in Hey You here <3

Ultimately, in The Final Cut, the shotguns in the hall are guarding the deepest level of the mind, like a defence mechanism you may developp around people who would want to know you a bit too much. The deepest level of the mind being the damn priesthole where no het romances are burnt.

SO YEAH. I think the common thing between all those halls is that "surface level" likeness. If you want to know who you are, you can't just stop at your hall, you have to dig and open some doors even if it hurts sometimes. The same way that if you were to visit a house, you couldn't say much about it by staying in the hall. But you still have to get through the hall first before going any further. (I really concluded this by going ''see a hall like, in a house ? well exactly this'' lmaooo)

My Top 10 Ships of 2020

It's been a weird year but I've seen other people doing this. Plus this year I've been way more into gen fics (love a bit of found family especially in clone wars and marvel) than anything shippy. So I genuinely don't know what imma put on here aside from two ships for sure. Sorry this post is super long idk how to do the below the cut thing and I've had this app for 5 years...

10) Viktor Nikiforov and Yuuri Katsuki - Yuri!!! On Ice

It was a real toss up between this, supercorp, kanera and wolfstar cos they're all very integral ships to my fan heart but this son because of the Yuri on Ice fandom's rebirth this year. I've never stopped shipping this, never stopped reading fanfic of them for any extended period of time, they're still my most bookmarked ship on ao3 (although I think now star wars - all media types may have overtaken them for fandom). They were one of the first things I watched where the queer ship I loved became canon and I can't wait for the film (and hopefully someday a season 2). Heck I even made my mum watch Yuri on Ice with me so I think that says it all.

9) Edelgard Von Hresvelg and female Byleth - Fire Emblem: Three Houses

My first fire emblem game was fates when I was like 14 (and finally gay awake lol). I was so disappointed that I had to be with a guy character because the only female option was kinda creepy and also I wouldn't get the character of kana. So when three houses came out I was so happy because finally there were beautiful incredible female characters my female byleth could romance (I'm so sorry mlm you deserved so much more than you got). I got the game as soon as it came out (had to search a lot of shops let me tell you) and started on black eagles. I was actually kinda disappointed back in 2019. I didn't like the explore the monastery bit (still find it kinda tedious) and the battle mechanics weren't quite the same as fates (no pairing up?! Aka my main battle technique for protecting the weaker units). So I got like 20 hours in and put it down. Came back to it in lockdown and finally finished it! I'm so proud of myself I virtually never finish games. And I fully fell in love with the useless lesbian edelgard in the process. When I started back playing in 2020 I was like eh I wish I'd picked a different character to romance (like shes an emperor that's morally very shady) but then the romance stuff started with edelgard and I fell the heck in love.

8) Cory Matthews and Shawn Hunter (and Topanga Lawrence) - Boy Meets World

Disney+ was released in the UK this year and I finally got the opportunity to watch boy meets world in its best quality (aka not on YouTube). I watched it back when I was like 12 or 13 and it's such a nostalgic show for me. Watching it again I still absolutely adore it (and my bi ass was low-key crushing on Shawn especially in chick like me - I'm 18 btw and I got so scared for a sec but rider strong was 18 when chick like me came out so it's fine woah). And of course now I see the possibilities of the beautiful Cory and Shawn relationship like they were so bromance it was basically romance and throw in topanga it's the perfect ot3 (but I'm also fine with just Cory and Shawn or just Cory and Topanga). Read some good fanfic for them this year. My favourite was one about Shawn stealing makeup and stuff and exploring gender (need more fics like this I'm biiii).

7) Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes - Marvel Cinematic Universe

I rewatched all the MCU films this year too. And got really into Peter parker whump and irondad. Plus my eternal obsession with identity and relationship reveals of course led me from Spiderman identity reveals (and found family cuteness) to stucky coming out. Especially when it involves the internet and social media. Not my favourite ship but it's been significant to my year due to the sheer amount of marvel stuff I've read.

6) Satine Kryze and Obi Wan Kenobi - Star Wars

I rewatched clone wars in prep for season 7 and wow Satine's death was sad and sudden. She first appeared in S2 E13 I think and just the sheer sexual tension of their bickering. "The sarcasm of a soldier. The delusion of a dreamer." Just ugnnhhh my bi ass can't take much more of this. And Anakin just sipping his wine in the background grinning. And I fully believe korkie is a Kenobi.

5) Commander Cody and Obi Wan Kenobi - Star Wars

I am very much an Obi wan multishipper. I don't really have a favourite but I fully believe he was with satine and Quinlan in his life. I don't think be would've actually done anything with Cody because of the whole superior officer thing. And this probably isn't even my favourite Obi wan ship - that honour probably goes to quinobi or obitine. However the most popular ships in the fandom are codywan, quiobi and obikin. No offence to anyone who ships these they're just personally not to my taste, but I can't stand quiobi, and obikin I find only slightly more tolerable and I think that's just because there's so much obikin content so if I like the concept of a fic that happens to be obikin I'll read it. I'm just not a fan of the mentor/student relationships. So I generally favoured the codywan fics when there was shipping involved meaning I read a lot of them this year. Needed that nice fix it content post season 7.

4) Zuko and Katara - Avatar: the Last Airbender

Again I am a multishipper I have nothing against zukka it's cute. But I'm a zutara shipper first and foremost because when I first watched avatar I was like 13 and denying my gayness and gayness in general so I shipped the straight things and the straight things only. Most of these ships I stopped shipping - dramione, spuffy, some my little pony ones which we don't talk about. Zutara stayed. (I have nothing against any of the things I used to ship I just stopped shipping them so much/shipped new things more). I've continuously shipped zutara since I first watched avatar even if I didn't necessarily spend that much time on it it has always been here as one of my favourite ships. It has such good fanfic I swear including my favourite ever fanfic from any fandom - love thy enemy. Plus like the black games (reread this for the millionth time this year), a delicate subterfuge (which I read for the first time this year and damn it's so good) and so many more. With the avatar resurgence this year I haven't actually rewatched avatar aside from my normal random episode every now and then when I feel like it. But there's been a lot of avatar on my dash from people I follow getting into it and people I followed for avatar returning so naturally I returned to the fandom and read quite a lot of fanfic. I also read just a lot of avatar gen fics which were great at the whole found family thing I've been so obsessed with this year.

3) Catra and Adora - She Ra and the Princesses of Power

Catradora is canon! They kissed! What more is there to say. Arguably they should've been top but I never shipped them that much since I was always very much a multishipper when it came to she ra so yes I was very happy it became canon because we actually won for once but also I've never read much fanfic for them etc. But they are very much a dynamic I love and watching she ra all again in prep for season 5 I really enjoyed the build up of their relationship. The other two only go above because Buffy is my favourite show ever and damn there's some good fuffy fanfic and Aphra and Tolvan is both fresh in my mind and star wars owns me. Would love some catradora fic recs btw if anyone has them tho.

2) Buffy Summers and Faith Lehane - Buffy the Vampire Slayer

I didn't realise it was last year that I got super into them but according to my ao3 bookmarks it was lol. 2020 I swear it's lasted an eternity. I got into them about a month before lockdown (which feels like another lifetime). I've loved Buffy since I first watched it when I was 13. It's arguably still my favourite TV show. I've been through a lot of ships for Buffy - bangel to spuffy and now fuffy. I still think angel and her were a beautiful ship back in season 2 and especially in the angel episode I will remember you. But faith and Buffy had so much chemistry in season 3 - she would've been a fresh start for Buffy and the amount of fix it fics I read I swear. My favourite has to be one where they met in LA during Anne and how that changed everything feat Buffy's internal homophobia.

1) Cheili Lona Aphra and Magna Tolvan - Star Wars

I read Darth Vader (2015) and Doctor Aphra (2016) for the first time at the end of 2020 (got a comic subscription which has served me very well already I've nearly finished the star wars canon comics). Just to see canon queer ladies in star wars was so magical for me as a queer lady. I didn't think star wars would be so overt yet as to have a queer kiss in canon (even if it's in the comics) and especially not with the main character of arguably their main comic series. Now we just gotta hope that we'll get it in live action someday soon. They weren't the ship I consumed the most content of in 2020 but they were the highlight of my 2020 because star wars did that and I finally found out about it

Honourable mentions: Vivian and Elle - Legally Blonde, Candace and Vanessa - Phineas and Ferb, Stevie and Alex - Wizards of Waverly Place, Xander and Spike - Buffy the Vampire Slayer (I actually don't ship this but damn some authors are good - this was the ship that made me realise I don't need to like a ship if the author is good enough to write it well), Eli Vanto and Mitth'raw'nuruodo - Star Wars (started reading the books last year but finished this year and only started with fanfic this year), Villanelle and Eve - Killing Eve, Kanan and Hera - Star Wars, Barriss and Ahsoka - Star Wars, Remus and Sirius - Harry Potter, Kara and Lena - Supergirl (let's hope this becomes canon next year!) (Those last four are ones I've shipped forever some of my og ships but nothing particularly big has happened for me this year with them so)

An otp: Thomas/Humphrey. Every so often Thomas sees Humphrey as more than an object, and Humphrey is able to let his guard down around him knowing he won't be punted that day. The two would bond over their artistic pursuits in life, be that poetry or painting. I have a lot of soft feelings about this pairing, though there's some heavy lifting to do on Thomas's part to get him to be nicer to Humphrey.

Thomas/Fanny is a new interest of mine, as a short-lived affair when Fanny was still new to the ghost crew.

A notp: Thomas/Kitty romantically (but I am partial to Kitty having a one-sided schoolgirl crush on him. Once Thomas found out, he started playing into it, but then she wasn't interested anymore)

Not a strict notp, but I'm not interested in Captain/Thomas. No big reason as to why, I just don't care for them together in that way (weird considering I ship Humphrey with both of them individually).

Favorite platonic/familial relationships:

Thomas/Kitty as besties, I DO think!!! There's a lot of fun to be had with these two, with them both being hopeless romantics and slightly annoying about their infatuations. They're supportive of each other nonetheless.

Thomas/Mary, I see the vision, I see it for them! Mary has no issue putting Thomas in his place, and she apparently is a voice of reason for Thomas. There's a lot that can be explored with these two. I also like the idea of Mary having been attracted to most of the ghosts in the house, except Thomas. And he takes that personally lol.

A headcanon that is popular in the fandom but that I disagree with: I don't think Isabelle was Thomas's true love. I think she was one of several women that he became infatuated with. It's just tragic that he happened to die over his feelings for her. 12: why did you choose to write osa? how long have you been working on it?

these idiot kids have been in my life since july or august of 2015. so 6 years! during which there were quite a few false starts, and ultimately 3 complete drafts - the first one at 111k words when i was 15, the second at 101k when i was 18, and the final at 134k when i was 19. osa itself went through...a LOT of changes. at its conception, it was contemporary fantasy - a fae story. the kids did not have magic; poseidon just had the special ability because of his ~youthful innocence~ to see and commune with fae spirits. i think the idea was that he kinda dragged nerissa on his little adventure because said fae spirits were calling to him for help (which...i'm realizing now is pretty parallel to his connection with chaos, actually). i don't really remember and i probably never wrote more than a couple thousand words of it like that.

so then i changed the concept entirely. i wanted to keep the title and the character names (at that point iirc nerissa and poseidon were the only characters i had. they were inspired by the sacrifices arc, which i read that summer for the first time. it made me want to write a story about an older sibling who would do anything - even to the point of sacrificing themself and others - to protect their younger sibling (well, connor and harry are twins, but - still). so anyway you know. when i say nerissa is a similar character to harry, i say that because he was literally her original blueprint. other influences definitely include katara and maybe a smidge of raine from tos. it might be hard to see now without it being pointed out, i'm not sure, but like...100% hp and atla are my biggest influences wrt genre and i've grown away from them more as i've gotten older but it's very present in osa because i was so young when i drafted it originally LOL). i was like - i want nerissa to have a corruption arc because i was 14 going on 15 and i was in my first big "i hate my parents and my life" phase.

which is. uh. who nerissa's other blueprint was. me. edgy, angsty 14-year-old me (even now, it shows. so much. lmao). i decided i wanted to write a story about a character who feels somehow tainted. obviously the magical oppression is in essence a form of racism, but it's actually a total 1:1 with the author's experience of homophobia growing up in a small town and feeling really isolated as a result. the idea is, like - dark magic is bad and evil! but all magic is something inherent to its user, a part of their soul. you can't get rid of it. it would kill you (case in point: ryes, who tried and failed to do that). nerissa was actually initially a wholly dark mage. at this point in development, it became an urban fantasy story, wherein mages made up a secret underground sort of society. nerissa and poseidon were raised away from it because adrienne didn't want them involved in the inevitable war. but poseidon was a light mage, like adrienne. nerissa had a wicked inferiority complex with him, which is kind of funny because he was 12 and she was 15 but she had some issues.

anyway, the idea i was playing with was like...the classic dark = bad, light = good thing. at first, i wanted nerissa to be like...not a good person, at all LMAO. but she just didn't become that. i got about 25k words into this draft and abandoned it. in july 2016, i finished the first actual draft of osa, which more closely resembles the story it is now. there are some significant differences, but the story is fundamentally the same. the only big difference is in this draft, the kids didn't know they had magic. in the end i decided it didn't make sense for adrienne to hide that from them, so that was the biggest change in the first full rewrite, which i did in 2019. i also aged nerissa up to 16 instead of 15, and emmet and ada also got aged up 1 year (in the og draft, pelferia was ages 16-19, not 17-20). it was the thing that got me back into writing after my Literal Mental Breakdown, actually! so then i rewrote it once more in 2020, impulsively decided around idk february or so i wanted to publish it, set a date, and made a lot of stupid mistakes because i really wasn't ready to publish yet haha.

buuut even though it first went into print with some pretty bad typos (that have since been fixed, thank god), it's got a special place in my heart for sure! my perspective on the dark/light thing changed a lot the older i got and the more i had to challenge my own internalized prejudices. from the beginning, i refused to write a character who experienced fantastic racism and wasn't some sort of real-world minority herself, because those are just...bad metaphors imo. if you can't empathize with the experience of discrimination unless it's fictitiously applied to a cishet able-bodied conventionally attractive white person, idk how to tell you you're probably not a very good ally irl. i know there's a lot of discourse around including real racism or homo/transphobia in fantasy stories, but i thought - and still do think - it was important that nerissa is as much a victim of racism and homophobia (though her less so than other characters, like avery and ada, and some others introduced later in the series) as she is of magical oppression. she's a product of the way society has treated her. that's what was supposed to push her into corruption. but...that didn't happen, because i grew up and i realized that being angry and wanting other people to hurt for the suffering i had endured at the hands of our society was only actually hurting me. i understood that nerissa was not supposed to be this, either. i understood that it's a more impactful story if she learns to love the world despite all it's done to her.

i don't want to spoil the plot of the next three books, so i won't, but the point is that the story is driven by nerissa's internal conflicts (and she has a lot of these pretty much from chapter one of osa to the early chapters of old). for many years i had planned for her to have ptsd and for it to be called that - and for it to be an actual problem she has to overcome, like any debilitating illness or injury would be. there's a period of literal months in the canon timeline dedicated to her recovering from a mental breakdown, compounded by all her grief around her parents' deaths and the knowledge that they are dead because of the magic she and her brother possess. what she has to learn throughout the story is that these things didn't happen to her because of her magic. they happened to her because there are people in the world who can't accept magic that is different from theirs. and that's a really different thing!

so the tl;dr is that the story has changed a lot. but i think nerissa experiences a lot of things i experienced, and has to learn a lot of the tough lessons i had to learn, too. i think it's a good thing i didn't pick the story up again until i was an adult, because i don't think i could have written books 3 and 4 before having to come back from my own horrific mental breakdown and all the issues of grief and identity that had caused it. there...is some irony though because actually nerissa's arc was planned out for years. i didn't actually base that portion of it off my own experiences. my life just happened to go that way, and that was when i decided to come back to her story. it helped me in a really tough time - and i think it did that for me when i was 14/15, too. hence why the book is dedicated to my 14-year-old self haha. once i had my concept properly grasped, it started and ended as the story i really needed to hear when i was that age. now, i think that the last two books are probably the story i needed when i was 18, or maybe that i need now. there are very few works that i've written so wholly for myself, and this one is definitely the biggest!

Max Moore is a Vashon Island based artist, who just released stunningly ethereal album called Trust under the moniker August. Check it out-- ya won’t regret it! Thank you so much to Max for taking time to answer these questions and providing wonderful insight on this crisis and how we can all support each other!

Lola Gil: Tell me about your project. How long have you been making music (as August, or otherwise)? Which artists are you most inspired by? How would you describe your sound?

Max Moore: i started making music under the name august only this year ! for a long time i have been searching for a project and creative space that felt both personal and truthful, it just happened to all come together with the release of my ep, trust, in february ! i have released music under many other names over the years as i experimented and dipped my toes into different sounds and styles, my first releases on the internet were from when i was like, 12 !!! as far as musical heroes, the list is long but at the top would be arthur russell, bjork, brian wilson, arca, nick drake, sophie, elliott smith, autechre, harry nilsson, burial ... i really could go on forever. i think a lot of people try to hide their true influences but i feel there is something sexy about putting it all out there and referencing them as would an author, filmmaker, painter etc. my "sound" these days seems to be quite amorphous, it really is shifting from minute to minute. i would like to think it would sound like some amalgamation of the artists i listed earlier but it's hard for me to tell. 

LG: How long was the process of making and producing your most recent album, Trust? How do you feel now that it’s out? Are you planning on releasing any new music soon?

MM: the process was looooong, like really long. i didn't release any music "seriously" for 3 or 4 years ! trust came out of a sudden, brief moment of clarity and surrender, as cheesy as that sounds. i was able to overcome a lot of the blockages i face in my creative process and just assemble this thing, and it just fell together ! i had all of these bits and pieces and sketches and ideas that never fully developed into anything, so i decided to compile them into one continuous piece of music. i was really into this idea of sonic miniatures or vignettes, short and sweet but with a depth that's only barely touched upon before moving on to the next. it was so incredibly therapeutic and wonderful to put it out into the world, so much support from friends and peers all around me. for now i'm still incubating but am hoping to see new music taking form this year :)

LG: As an artist, how have you been affected by COVID-19? You mentioned you had a handful of shows cancelled-- what has your experience been/what are your thoughts towards live streaming?

MM: like many artists in the community, i had a good handful of shows, contracted work, etc. canceled as a result of the virus. i am lucky enough to be in a position currently where i did not have to take a significant financial hit due to this (i work a day job at a record store & cafe) but i know many artists who now are struggling to make rent and stay safe through this pandemic. i think live streaming is a beautiful and special way for artists to connect with fans, especially in a time like this ! but there are so many aspects to a real, alive, performance that just can't exist in that digital space. for example, making friends and connections, selling merch, interacting face to face with fans, etc. though there is something beautiful about people from around the world being able to tune in to a livestream and make song requests, leave a nice comment, confess their love lol

LG: Apart from August, have you been involved in any other creative projects recently?

MM: recently i have been moving into more sound design work ! i was recording and mixing sounds for a play that was to run in june i believe, which just today was postponed until next year. that was my first *official* sound design job, i was really looking forward to it :(

LG: How have you been personally affected by COVID? What has your quarantine experience been like so far? 

MM: aside from being out of work, and not being able to connect with friends, i feel very privileged as i am with my family, in my home. i have had a lot of time to do things that normally i am barely able to squeeze into my day like journaling, going for walks, extensive music writing sessions, playing video games. i think a lot of us are facing serious anxiety and depression right now, so i am really prioritizing my mental health, and making sure my friends and family are well. also, this new animal crossing game really could not have come at a better time, i don't know where i would be right now without it to be honest. 

LG: What music have you been listening to recently? What has been your go-to quarantine album/song?

MM: in any times of crisis, confusion, sadness, happiness, really in any time at all i always turn to the same album: arthur russell's 'world of echo'. to me it is the perfect record, i aspire to make music that makes me feel the way that album does. it is a great listen if you need some time to reflect, or need something reflected back at you ! another favorite right now is bo en, he's done some incredible video game soundtracks (i'm playing through one right now called 'pikuniku', soooo sweet) and just has the most brilliant ideas. ooo and alice coltrane !!! special music only right now.

LG: Were there any spring shows that you were particularly looking forward to that got cancelled?

MM: i have been waiting to see arca in seattle since i was a sophomore in high school, and she announced a tour only a few weeks before all of this went down ! hopefully there will be a rescheduled date that i will be able to attend ... fingers crossed

LG: How do you think the Seattle/greater Seattle area music scene is going to shift post-COVID?

MM: i think coming out of this time we will see an enormous influx of events as we all recognize how special and necessary these sorts of things are. i know i will be so grateful to be able to run around and dance and meet up with friends, all of that good stuff. i am hoping that we will not forget these times though and can sustain that excitement, we really will need it moving forward. there will be many more bumps in the road and we need to be prepared (as a community) to address them together !!!

LG: In this era of social distancing, how do you think artists can support each other during these weird and difficult times? How do you think social media is facilitating and/or inhibiting connection within Seattle’s creative community?

MM: luckily thanks to the internet there are SO many ways to support our artist friends, if anybody is unsure of how to do so please reach out to me or any other artist, they will be so happy you asked ! whenever i can i try to purchase merch, support on websites like bandcamp where money goes (for the most part) directly to artists, and promote + support bipoc, trans, & queer artists. it never hurts to reach out, connection is so important to sustain any way possible right now. i think social media can be dangerous as far as connection goes, but right now i am seeing a lot of openness and offering of resources as we all wake up every day into the reality that there is this crazy virus taking over !!!!!! the internet and technology are completely shifting the direction of art and community, in some good ways and in some bad ways. we need to remember that social media is a tool and a resource firstly, and also that the people who designed these apps we use purposefully made them addicting, mostly through analyzing our own data and habits ! my hope is that as our brains gradually begin to adjust to these new devices and systems, we can let go of some of the isolation and anxiety that they bring up in us.

No umm let me explain myself, I'm sorry I know for a fact it's gonna be a looooong long answer lol

I'm kinda a new fan, obviously I knew about 1d (they're indeed the biggest boy band of their time) larry (since 2015! Hahaha!) and harry styles for years. It's hard to not notice harry when you're a fashion freak queer woman.

So I knew about this fandom, but never been a fan myself till early October 2019 when I read a book ( wayward son ) a sequel to one of my favourite ya novels, in that book I believe the author fashion-vise used harry as some sort of an inspiration for one of the main characters, my favourite, my gay vampire son, baz! So one day I was trying to draw baz but I was doing terrible and needed reference pictures! Of course I searched harry styles floral gucci suits lmao. Next thing I was watching a bunch of harry things on YouTube lol. Just listened to sott, kiwi and medicine and I was like yeah that's it I'm a fan.

Insane right? I was a solo harrie at first!

I believe I watched all I could find of solo harry, I totally was in awe of harry, such charming young man, a dork with good attitude towards women who I, as a queer, could easily see that is also queer, right?

So then I started watching larry videos only to see how much of it actually is true. I was a fan and wanted to get to know harry more. I'm not blind, soon I was convinced they had a thing. But my mistake was that I used to think they were over by the beginning of hiatus, if not years before.

I really never saw anything in Harry's official relationships tho, haylor screamed fake relationship for publicity to me, hendall seemed like friends hooking up once and then going back to being just friends. (Although now I believe that was also for publicity for sure, the yachtgate? Just yikes) Hamille? We literally got two articles and they simply could be friends... you know that people can have friends of opposite sex right?

But then fl era began and Harry's interview with lowe came out, articles about cherry and I had literally no reason to think they're lying. So I started to think he dated the French girl for real, how could i be so wrong? lmao (i know some believe in hamille, that's ok, i mean no offense) it took me a month or so but I finally came to this conclusion that unfortunately hamille is also bs. Yk sometimes I wish I could go back to the time I believed they were a real thing, It just makes it so hard for me, to enjoy this whole era, with the constant references to her in Harry's songs, music videos, interviews if they're nothing but a fake relationship which I believe is the case.

There was a time tho that I thought maybe Larry's still going strong, I remember how excited I got when they played we made it in Harry's listening party. So naive of me, I know!! I think it's kinda so clear that unfortunately they're not a thing anymore for ex: euphoria incident and how they both reacted to it! Also their lyrics, It's crazy how so many people like to ignore their lyrics, especially louis' since harry's always have this sort of hope in them. Hope for future. He literally finished the album with fine line, do I need to say anything more? Lmao

But like walls, the song, made me so sure about my larry beliefs, it's so clear to me what it's about, I can't understand how larries interpret it really...

But umm yeah I was saying it's so clear to me, larries say they're in a 10 yo happy relationship and if that's the case can you explain why for the sake of god, there's not even a song on walls saying I'm-in-this-happy-10yo-relationship-with-my-so-happy-days-indeed???? Not even one!!? And don't say we made it, it was written in 2017. Louis said it went through so many changes, and is about the fans who were patient with him:/ (I do think it initially was love a song, still is maybe with the el's lines, but other than that I don't think it means anything significant, not anymore at least, he said he doesn't like it that much and it was his label's favourite)

So yeah while I definitely see myself as a part of larry fandom, and I believe they were real partners, i also think they fought a lot for the beautiful thing that they once had, but they couldn't make it unfortunately (that's my belief, pls don't attack lol)

like you'd tease him for being too scared to ride a rollercoaster and oh would you look at that suddenly he wants to ride the rollercoaster to prove you wrong

and then you'd join him to prove that you're also no wimp

and you'd both be scared shitless the whole time 

but when you get off h'd be like "that wasn’t as bad as i thought it would be”

likes to teach you chinese and really likes that you're interested in his language and culture

you thought he'd tease you about your pronunciation but he's actually so supportive because he knows how hard it is to learn a language

brings snacks to your study session as a reward but ends up getting distracted and eating them himself

he hates having his photo taken but the minute you ask him for a selfie he’s already getting into a pose lol

this kid will literally do anything for you

you're sick but he had plans? sorry looks like he's cancelling his movie date with chenle

your significant other just broke up with you? um jisung is an idol but who says he actually needs to do live stages hah

you're moving cities/countries? lol jisung packed his suitcase weeks ago

real talk though jisung hates to see you upset or sick but he's also real awkward and doesn't really know how to make you better

so he just comes over and you watch stupid youtube videos together

most times he'll force you to take random quizzes like "we will tell you which cartoon character you actually are based on the cereal you put in a kiddie pool"

he will then spend the next twenty minutes ranting to you about how your result was pink panther only because you chose the strawberry flavoured cereal

and you'd be adamant that pink panther actually reflects who you are on the inside, and that buzzfeed quizzes wouldn't lie to you

"omg jisung i AM pink panther you just don't understand, why can't you accept me for who i truly am" 

in the end you wouldn't know what you and jisung were even talking about anymore but hey at least you don't feel as upset/sick as you did before 

you also say a lot of stupid stuff (whether that's on purpose or not is entirely up to you lol) and jisung always pretends to be embarrassed by you 

he will literally let out the biggest sigh ever and pinch the bridge of his nose, as if being around you is the most stressful, testing thing ever 

but he's only kidding because he's well aware that if you weren't his friend he would definitely be a hermit in the mountains or something lol
