What do you headcanon as AU careers for Dick?

I don't much like the idea of Dick as a cop (in Wayne Family Adventures I'm pretty sure they never explicitly mention his job, so I'm gonna pretend he's not a cop there)

Gymnastics instructor seems to be a popular choice in most of the Happy Dick and Nice Batfam AUs and it sounds in character... Except his night job related injuries would be difficult to hide.

Neither Fae nor Talon Dick are likely to have the kind of falling out with Bruce which led to Dick striking out on his own, so they will likely never have the worry about earning their own living. Bruce would no doubt be willing and eager to give them cushy jobs with the WE, or they can just treat Superhero-ing as their full time job. But still, I think they will want an independent, non-nepo baby job.

I like the idea of Dick as a CPS worker, or just with social services in general. He'll be great with traumatized kids, has so much experience both first and second hand to draw on.

And if Fae Dick is with CPS... Well. The lore about fae stealing children is well known, but less well known is the lore that fae steal neglected children.

Now, that can simply be the predator going after the vulnerable, but it can also be in some stories the fae see humans refusing to take care of the children properly and getting their adoption instincts triggered Bruce Wayne style, taking them away from the parents who don't deserve them to a better life.

CPS takes neglected and abused children away from the parents who don't deserve them, to a better life.

Love the idea of a fae as a CPS worker, getting official sanction and human cooperation to do his traditional job :)

It depends on the Au!

I’m very flexible with what I read as long as the author manages to fit it into the story in a plausible and believable way. Like with the Titans TV series where it establishes very early on that Dick is rather feral and not as opposed to murder as Bruce *cough*

But over all I do agree that him being a cop doesn’t check out most of the time since most comics (at least from what I’ve read, so take that with a grain of salt. My comic knowledge is like— 3% if we’re being generous lol.) depict him as being very opposed to using firearms, and to killing. And cops have to carry guns to protect themselves and others, and sometimes also shoot people. So yeah I don’t know.

And acrobatics instructor actually isn’t such a bad idea imo! Yeah there are some pretty revealing suits out there. But if we go with what Dick is wearing in Gotham Knights in between missions it could totally work out! He’d still have to be careful tho, obviously. But honestly I don’t think people will look too closely at someone who does potentially dangerous sports as a living and comes in with a black eye or a broken arm or something.

CPS sounds like a very fun idea tho! Espiecally in regards to Fae Dick! He’s got a soft spot for children and their wide eyed wonder. And kids aren’t nearly as frightened of him if they happen to catch a glimpse of other either. So yeah, perfect!

But now I’m also thinking of the Pied Piper of Hamelin tale, because I can totally see Dick leading a gaggle of kids through the streets and out of harms way if there’s ever a Gotham wide catastrophe going on… hmmmm

Other than that I could also see Dick as someone who takes a job leading and organizing multiple charities (sponsored by Wayne Enterprises) and rising through the Gotham Elite. It would help his vigilante cover (poor and dumb Richie Wayne, always drunk and being scandalous, just like his guardian) while also serving the ulterior motive of rooting out corruption.

Idk that last one’s just a thought (cuz I love good rich people playing other bad rich people and causing their downfall… eh.)

Digimon Frontier - Episode 3

For this episode I decided to check out the English dub for Frontier. I really enjoyed it! My problem is that the Digimon dubs are more fun and nostalgic to watch, but I'm always really conscious of missing out on lore and emotional beats. Maybe I'll finish the sub and then watch the dub someday when I wanna revisit this.

Notes:

The American OP is hype as heck! I like the tribal vibe with the drums. I think I like the Japanese digivolution music a little better though.

I liked most of the English VAs but Takuya sounds like a 30 year old lol. For some reason, Izumi's Italian outbursts were a lot funnier in English, "Mamma mia!"

I coulda sworn Takuya said he was in the 4th grade in the last episode but now he's in the 5th? In the dub he's in the 6th, so let's just say he's somewhere in the upper elementary range.

I really loved Tomoki's digivolution sequence. I like how his hand movements are a little more childish/cheerful than Takuya or Koji's Also, in the dub I love how he said "EXECUTE" lol. I know they meant like "executing a program" but I was just thinking of the murder version of "execute" hehe.

So I guess Bokomon and Neemon have a boke/tsukkomi dynamic going on. I think they overdid Bokomon's bullying a bit tho

Lol @ the DigiCode fixing one (1) single bridge in this episode whereas in the first episode they fixed like an entire village. I guess some digimon get you better results than others? (Also they said that the bridge "protected them from bad digimon," how does that work?)

So they've established a bunch of times now that there are supposed to be 10 warriors. Betting the cast will expand with some minor characters later.

I just noticed this, but Takuya has a little symbol on his shirt and hat but I'm not sure if it's supposed to be a reference to something or it's just a cool graphic.

Speaking of graphics, I finally noticed that the symbols for the spirits are literally just kanji. Like Agnimon's is the kanji for fire, Wolfmon is light, Chackmon is ice...

Uhhh...why is the dub name for Chackmon (Kumamon) way more Japanese sounding? I guess they couldn't have used Kumamon in the sub cuz...

Chackmon is a weird name and even after reading the etymology on the wiki I don't really get it.

These kids are kinda savage. First Bokomon is pleading with them to save his world and they just look annoyed and then when Agnimon is battling all the Candlemon they're just like "wow, he's really trying to fight a fire type? What a dumbass" (paraphrasing) and they walk off (to be fair, Takuya told them to hide, but still!) It was really funny when Bokomon was telling the Candlemon that the kids were there to save the Digital World and Takuya was like "not really" lol.

I'm glad that they were at least given the chance to go home because otherwise it feels a little bit like they're being blackmailed into being heroes (save our world or you'll never see your home again)

I'm sure someone has meme'd on Agnimon being covered in white drippy wax before...I'll refrain.

I feel like we already have too much lore here. First it was Cherubimon was messing up the world and now it's actually Lucemon that was the OG world messer-upper? Now I dunno who the big bad is!

If there are 10 warriors...I wonder what the elements are gonna be. Well I guess Pokemon has managed to come up with a zillion "elements." Is someone gonna end up with "heart?" hahaha

and yeah you're right 🤧🤧🤧— yuusha would try to hide and escape, especially as she overblots bc she would try to avoid hurting people (and like elsa, it'd only hurt others more trying to escape bc of probably how she leaves destruction in her wake trying to make others stay away from her 😔)

(this is a small tangent but i remember thinking about an overblot kalim and i imagine him to be similar, like he would not hurt anyone intentionally in his overblot.)

anyways so the way it would go is that i imagine her friends got fatally injured either because a) she feels that she’s too “useless” without magic to help and wasn’t able to do anything OR b) her attempts at helping to try and prove that she can help without magic made everything worse.

and then she just goes into a guilty spiral then boom — overblot.

ALSO in the song, the way elsa briefly contemplated taking her own life but then realizing there’s no guarantee that would solve anything hnghgh (<- another unintentional parallel to my yuusha lore because that’s actually how she ended up in twst except she did NOT have the latter realization)

there’s this “yuu is dead” theory i’m just using and that the black carriage actually just caught yuusha’s soul after she took her own life from all the burden.

also some bonus angst context for that violin post :3

yuusha back in her homeworld is raised and known to be a gifted musician. people can feel the life and soul in her music but when people interact with her, they are usually met with an ice-cold (heh) personality.

the dead family member was the one who taught her music and the only one who was kind to her.

there’s always an expectation from her family to perform well and to keep up appearances as to not be a humiliation since anything she does can reflect on her entire family. (also hi, slight yuusha/jamil parallels maybe???)

the way she presents herself also stemmed from an incident as a child when she went apeshit on another kid bc she was defending a friend.

so from then on she was taught taught to conceal don’t feel those emotions — which just unfortunately extended to any positive ones, not just negative ones like rage.

so when she is brought to twst, there’s no memory of her being forced to hold back her emotions so she’s just unapologetically affectionate and open with everyone bc that’s how she really is.

but every now and then, memories of her breaking down haunt her in her dreams or as subtle reminders in the waking world.

then yuusha just goes on her day like she just wasn't reminded of her past.

ginny - $300 junko enoshima wig! sorry for double dipping with danganronpa it was just the first fandom i actually started like. on purpose noting fandom happenings with + a lot of shit happens in that fandom. this one cosplayer who at the time was called snowthesaltqueen / badguyincorporated started selling pre-made (and styled) junko enoshima cosplay wigs for $300. which WOULD be fair (i think? idk how cosplay commissions work) if said wig was styled well or quality at all, but what was ACTUALLY provided was a rly basic wig base and few clips with no note or no nothing, and rly flat. like on purpose. like that was "the styling". also you may recognise this cosplayer for 1) getting in trouble when they did a cosplay photoshoot (danganronpa cosplay funnily enough) in a graveyard, posing ON a gravestone. 2) KILLING SOMEONE. they were screwing around with a firearm and fake pointing it at someone and then they accidentally shot them.

■ - Tangy makes her long-term stay wherever the Scions have settled- the Waking Sands, the Rising Stones, unfortunately missed out on most of The Falling Snow.. while she’s still a much smaller Miqo’te staying in the Waking Sands she insists she doesn’t need much space to sleep, and just has a bunk with a leather bag hanging off one of the posts. Granted, that bunk is piled with blankets and pillows, and she doesn’t even sleep under them; it’s all just lumpy padding for curling up on top of and snoring. (After meeting with Chuu and finding out 1) there was a way to avoid getting arrested after the Banquet fiasco and 2) she could totally be stronger. Totally. And subsequently getting… let’s call it Off-Brand-Fantasia’d, she needs a bit more space.. she stops snoring most of the time, though. Having more snout apparently makes it easier to not snore!) She doesn’t ever keep an apartment of her own, but she does sometimes trek from Revenant’s Toll to Vesper Bay to check in on the old haunt, since Urianger seems keen to Never Leave. lmao.

✿ - She’s Asexual! In that she doesn’t feel sexual attraction towards people, but she does enjoy the act? It’s a good way to relieve stress and it’s fun exercise and it’s a nice way to bond with others.

She does, however, struggle with the ‘Oops’ part of Chuu’s ‘Fantasia’ which was giving her a body with a dick :T There’s a learning curve. (Among other curves. Wink? Sorry dndndndnfke) Also, not necessarily sex, but she probably kisses her friends. Because she cares about them! Cheek kisses, lip kisses, forehead and top of head kisses… hand kisses… Kisses :)

∇- I genuinely think Tangy gets a handle on Accounting by hanging out with Tataru so much over the years. It keeps Tataru’s mind off worrying about everybody as much while they’re away on business, and Tangy gets to wrinkle her brain (this takes. Such a long time though. She’s still not reliable for it, either, but she’s passable :3) .. for a proper aging headcanon tho I think as she gets older she becomes an anchor point for the Scions like Tataru is. Sets up shop and trains young adventurers in combat and cooking and camping. Her whiskers twitch when thunderstorms are brewing. She still sometimes needs nudging from her own students on things, but it’s usually in things relating to Reading. I feel like she has pretty bad dyslexia and maybe even dyscalculia that she’s just learned to deal with.

♒- LOVES food. Loves to eat. Loves to help with cooking. Measuring ingredients for recipes is actually pretty easy since it’s not demanded exactness, it’s just “half of this cup, level this cup, just enough to cover the bottom of this pan,” like, not exact. You feel cooking with your heart. And kneading bread is an excellent and fun work out to her. Can not bake.. Kinda wishes she could. She’s just not precise enough, and she gets the order in which things have to be done mixed up, so she ends up with some pretty…. Not exactly inedible but…. 🫢 It’s not appetizing looking.. and it doesn’t taste great… She’s not a picky eater, but she hesitates to eat snails. It just makes her a little sad, cos they’re cute to her. And then she eats them anyways =w=; the chef worked hard to make this delicious meal and she’s gonna eat it! (And not eating the snails would waste their life so. Honor their sacrifice and eat them.) Her favorite food is whatever she can eat with her hands/whatever’s in front of her at the time, and any of F’lahminn’s cooking. Even if it’s burnt.

Skarner sketches - 2024-04-03-06

Okay, so, uh... this is new?

I don't actually play LoL for a multitude of reasons, and I can't claim to have been very deeply ingrained in its lore before either. Sometimes one champion grabs my attention temporarily, like Tahm Kench (most accurate re-imagining ever of the Devil in folklores), Kindred (Death never had a more awesome interpretation), Braum (he is just an amazing guy) or the God of All Sass in the Universe, Aurelion Sol (Boop). But I have never created fanart of them, or started reading up on the lore even at a surface level.

Well, for some reason, the newly reworked Skarner has somehow gotten my attention on an entirely new level. No, I'm still not going to play League. I might check out Riot's non-PvP games, tho...

Turns out, I'm kinda sorta joining in when LoL's lore building is at its lowest, few new champions, no "color stories" anymore, and basically no other stories, which is... kind of heart-breaking, not gonna lie. Because I see the unified lore Riot is trying to build and it is genuinely impressive both in ambition and in actual execution. They can even work in redesigns and reworks into the story seamlessly at times. I hope they pick up steam again soon.

Skarner might have gotten my attention because of his design; because of his amazing similarity in appearance and in role to the best sea monster ever put to screen - Leviathan from Atlantis: The Lost Empire; because of his banger music; or because he has a lot in common with my Ra from my Egyptian mythology story idea where they both teeter on the brink between utter paranoia-fueled tyrannic rule and genuine protection of their people.

Whatever it may be, I like Skarner, the Primordial Sovereign. I am not sure how much LoL's story is allowed to progress, and champions to have arcs, but I hope against all hope that Skarner's story will involve one hell of a bi--slap from life that will get him back on the proper way to protect his people and not actually ruin them in his paranoia.

Maybe the Void will swallow Ixtal in a surprise attack, but Skarner manages to make it out with citizens on his back like Milio, and Qijana as the last Yun Tal and therefore de facto human leader of the Ixtali. The formerly isolationist nation is now forced into nomadic life atop Skarner as they seek a new home or allies to get back at the Void finally. I mean, Jax is looking for volunteers from what I have heard, and Skarner actually likes Jax and Icathia. Now... wouldn't that be a fanfic idea?

I hope I can deliver a few more sketchdumps, because I have ideas both for Skarner and for the brackern species as a whole.

Long read ahead!!

Well, I've been with the fanbase for what's gonna be my 6th year now. I would say at the start I mostly kept to myself so I didn't engage a lot with others. I got into the games after playing Hotel and took my time learning all the lore. After that, I mostly just talked about RL with my close friend and bestie. After a while we both started making fanart which really wasn't anything significant on my end. I was a nobody and still kept mostly to myself. I have made friends in the fanbase tho, some who I'm still friends with today. The fanbase was small but dedicated. (Obviously smaller than now)

Then my friend and I created our own community for Rusty Lake that we managed and were mods on and kept it going and growing for 2 years, which allowed me to meet more people. Everyone mostly liked sharing their art and theories, and that's when I started getting a better view at the fanbase as a whole. They were SERIOUS about their lore and theories. Lots of people didn't accept other people's headcanons and fought back and forth on it, everything had to be lore correct yada yada yada. Also shipping was a HUGE NO NO. People fuckin hated shipping RL characters.

And then Paradox happened and idk why but something in the fanbase shifted after Paradox. It was a volcano erupting and then going back to sleep. It got bad before it became good, but I wasn't there a lot during this period as I decided to take a hiatus when things got to their boiling point.

Through the entirety of 2020 I was gone, and then I came back for a while to draw my silly son and check on the games, since there was nothing interesting ( FOR ME ) at the time, I left again. Same thing in 2022. And then 2023 the brainrot returned HARD and though there was still nothing interesting going on with the current games (again, FOR ME) I still played them all and went back to reclaim my throne as David Eilander's # 1 fan. By that time, I've really bettered my art skills and I was way more confident in sharing my art openly to other platforms like Reddit, where it was a great success. It also allowed me to meet with the fanbase again and BY GOD IT CHANGED. Everyone is a lot nicer now for SURE. Everyone is way more respectful and discuss their lore and theories in a civil manner. No more gatekeeping. It was BEAUTIFUL. And I guess that's what made me stay this time around.

So yea, fanbase was bad, now is good.

As for Jackalope, I feel like it's more popular outside of Rusty Lake than inside the fanbase. Most of the people who like my Jackalope art don't even know what Rusty Lake is. While in the fanbase I think it feels big simply because I keep it contained within my community, and since it's just a group of familiar people sharing their work about one topic, it feels big. But in the larger scope of the fanbase? I don't think so, no. I think Jackalope is just enjoyed by a few of us who bounce ideas off one another. I make art that inspires someone to write a song or a story, and then I see their work based on my work and get inspired and make something based of what they made, so on and so forth.

And this time around I also tried to introduce my dynamic for Dale and David very differently than the times before. I approached the fanbase with a slow burn idea and a comic to make it interesting. And people were surprisingly open to the idea of them, not necessarily as a ship, but just that they deserve to meet again and make amends.

Jackalope is a small ship, but it's a ship that inspired a lot of amazing things and honestly? Got a lot of people in my community interested in the game.

Did an embossing peice. It's the Mojo Chessmaster! I tried by best to make it as detailed as possible, and I think I did pretty alright. The neck was probably the worst part to do. Below are close-ups

the head of the guitar was a pain in the ass.

This part was also pretty tricky but it came out okay. the dials at the bottom are raised as much as I could get them to go, so I'm not worried about them. My issue here was the pickups.

I also added Flansburgh's little signature guy but i drew his hair because why not? Anyways this piece took me a good hour or so to finish, I think it'll fetch a good grade (it was for my metal design class).

it's from a tally hall fanfic/au i made back in may after my grandpa passed away. It was a great stress-reliever and I still really like how it turned out. It's about cryptids and monsters and shit. I'll post a summary on a different post because this one was mostly for the drawings. I might post a few installments of it on my ao3. It could be a weekly thing since i usually have time on fridays to write.

•Recovery

In Luci's brain a blurry picture was playing. It was showing some monster hands dragging a body of a child, slowly opening the child's mouth and putting it's arms in it. Suddenly, they woke up, all sweaty and shaking. Doctors were so surprised! Soon they dud some tests on Lucifer and later called his mom to pick him up. When Monica came she was so happy that her child is alright, but Luci still needed a lot time for recover. First, they needed to remember how to write and read again, then how to speak, how to walk, how to remember family members and loved once and other stuff. After ''full'' recovery Lucifer noticed something strange. They started feeling more angry and wanted to hurt ppl.

•Age 14

At this time Luci was a real teenage dirt bag. One day he woke up and saw hsi mom panicking in the living room and dad talking on the phone. They had no idea what was going on. But when they looked out of the window everything was clear. The neighbours broke down their gate. How could they! And this qas not the first time neighbours would do such a thing. Lucifer was getting bullied at school 24/7 . Plus the neighbours didn't like the family cause of Monica being German. Months passed by and in the end luckily, through all the courts and payings, the gate was finally back and now stable. But that doesn't mean that neighbours were being any nicer. In fact they were even worse! Because of that horrible behaviour Luci made a plan how to make 'em pay. One night Luci got a lighter from her father...

And burned a bit of the Woods that were near the house. Soon everything was on fire! Neighbours called the fire fighters who slowly started putting the house down. In 2 am police took Lucifer and Monica to the station. In the court it was decided for Lucifer and his family to move somewhere else. After those news Octavius yelled the hell out on Lucifer and told them really shitty stuff. They had a week to choose where are they going. After calling family members and checking the money situation, Monica and Octavius decided to move to America.

Luckily Monica's sister lived there and paid for everything. The next week they got their card and papers and moved away.

•Someone special

Days went by and Luci really felt like home. He knew English really good, didn't have problems with understand and finding places and no problems with the crowds. But, in school he was quite a trouble maker, with great grades tho. Only grades were getting him out of trouble. After few school switching cause of big fights and sending a Lot of kids to hospital, Luci finally started middle school, but this time.. with Moe! They went to same middle school and Moe was so happy that his closest cousin isn't that far away anymore. One night when Luci was getting home from detention he heard some noise. He was curious and decided to follow it. She got to the place where noise was coming from and it turns out it was a shark... It was all beaten up. Luci came near it to help.

"Oml Are u alr??"

"Y-yes it's just a scratch..."said shark

"Umm don't worry I have sum... bandages if that is gonna any how.. "

"Nono no u Don't have-"

"Oh don't be silly, u need help and I can help u"- said Luci i and started helping the shark out. After that he asked the shark where he lives and Shark told him he can come yo the docks near "Molly's café". As he said that Luci took shark and started carrying him. On the way they talked about a lot of things.

"And I didn't catch ur name..?"

"It's Lucifer. And urs?"

". . . Lou. . ."

"Ok so we're here. U sure u can continue on ur own?"

"Yup plus u already did enough. I need to prepare for new school tomorrow anyway."

"Which school?"

"Ahhh "Arnold junior high"?"

"Wait-THAT'S MY SCHOOL!!!"

"Really!? Really...cool.."

"But why school on the ground?"

"Well tomorrow Starts that *swap up* day we have here. It's about sharks going to earthlings schools and earthlings go to our water school woth crystals."

"BEY!!"-she said and Lou swam away. The next day Luci was really hyped for seeing Lou. They came to school all happy and were waiting for him. Lou soon came. Luci was really pleased to see him. The day went by and it was time for geography. A teacher of geography was a real bitch and didn't like anybody sept rich kids. She caught Lou and Luci talk. She started yelling at them and told how they need to tell their moms to come.

"But Ma'am I-"

"Don't u "Ma'Am bUt" ME!!! WHO GAVE U THE RIGHT TO TALK IN MY CLASS!!!

"But miss I-"

"U what!?"

"...I don't have a mother..." -said Lou quite sad.

"Oh...well then...Call ur father or whatever.."-she said and Lou got out of the class. Luci asked if she can use the bathroom cause of her period and the teach let her. When she got out she looked for Lou and heard someone in male bathroom.

It was Lou. He was crying cause of this shit. Luci entered

"Hey u good bro?"-he asked and hugged him

"Y-yes dw.."

"I am so srry for -"

"It's ok...not the first time won't be the last.."-he said on the edge of the tears.

Luci hugged him again and told him he can cry all he wants. The rst of the class they spent in the bathroom, crying amd comforting. For the next few months everything was amazing. Lou and Luci really became close. One night they decided to run from home and meet up. They did so, both escaped during the night and had an amazing time. But when they stopped at one lil shop the owner called the cops because of vagrancy.

"Shit! We gotta go!" -said Lucifer as they started running. They ran for a while and decided to stop at one lake.

"Wow...that was a close one... wasn't it?"

"Yeah..."

"Welp at least we escaped am I right?"

"Yeah..."-he said as they continued talking. They talked for a while when suddenly they saw some light. It was the car. It was near them so they both jumped into the water, before it was too late. Luckily, the car didn't get them. Lou looked out of the water.

"Is it safe?" -asked Luci swimming

"Yeah, I think it is"-he saud and they both got out of the water all wet.

"Are u cold?"-asked Lou Luci

"Nah broo I'm good :D And u?"

"I'm ok, as a shark u get used to it. But I know earthlings get cold when they are out of the water."

"Nah I'm good"-he saud as they both set down. They continued talking while drying. And out of nowhere... Lou took off his jacket and gave it to Luci. Lucifer blushed and their eyes went wAcKy.

"Ummmm u good?"-asked Lou suprised

"Yes, certainly. I do this when I'm happy."

Times passed and their friendship was growing and growing.

ok so let's see honkai star rail's relics system, im gonna keep it as simple as i can and once you understand it's actually pretty simple. i will succeed in making it impossible to understand tho, trust me! also still can't post pictures so use your imagination (or open the relics' menu while you read.)

we'll use the passerby of wandering cloud s(PoWC) et as an example for no reason (read: renheng lore relics <3)

SO. basically once you enter the relics' menu you see 6 placements: 4 around, and 2 inside the circle

theres a number of relics sets, and their purpose is to make your characters more useful with what's called set effect. for the relics in the circle placement, you can either have 2 pieces or 4 pieces.

for example, 2 pieces of PoWC gives this effect: "increases outgoing healing by 10%". if you add the other two pieces to it, you get the 4 pieces effect in addition to the 2 pieces: "at the start of the battle, immediately regenerates 1 skill point".

now let's check the pieces. what you'll want in addition to the sets effects is the statistics, which is mostly rng based. so, while the head will only have flat hp as its main stat (the one in orange) and the hands will only have flat atk as its main stat, every other piece has multiple option. i'd advise looking it up on google because im not gonna give every possible main stat for every piece

now for the 2 remaining pieces, they're the planar sphere and the link rope. you can only farm those in the simulated universe and there's also a good number of sets, so you'll either need to study it or look up your character's build on google

as an added info: the planar sphere is where you'll fetch elemental/physical bonus for characters who deal dmg, and the link rope is where the energy regeneration is

and finally, to fully ruin your expectations of how cool relics are (if you play genshin this won't be a surprise), the substats. they're ALL rng-based, so you'll need to grind to find good relics with the right main and sub stats. i won't go into detail on what each stat means, there's probably a few better guides out there on the internet

OK I WAS THINKING WDTFD TOO IT IS CRIMINALLY UNDERRATED AND ive literally been spending more time than necessary trying to figure out why, because I would argue it is one of your best and one of the most unique out there in general. You can ignore me if you want but I have a Theory (gonna mark myself with this emoji ⚡️ so you know it’s me)

this is... an absolutely fascinating theory XD i have no clue, to be honest, and always just put it down to 1) being a busy time of year (tho thematically appropriate) when maybe people weren't reading a lot of fic then so it never got that established, and 2) me going dark for a month afterwards while i worked on my novel, resulting in less content to bump me up in the ao3 tag (or on people's dashboards) that might make people check what i'd just done, or help them notice they missed a fic right before it (i have people comment on a new fic all the time being like "OH SHIT i missed the last one, time to binge!").

its interesting to get an outside perspective, because for me personally i notice jumps in interaction around a few fics (knifepoint for example) but i never really attributed a spike to BFM. i was really shocked when i recently saw beg for me was ranked 24th in hit count for she-ra fics (its worth noting that both slas and asdlm rank higher than it, but i also remember lots of engagement with both of those - especially asdlm, there was so much fanart). i dont remember a lot about what was going on when i was writing bfm, so i just assumed it... wasnt a lot XD but apparently it left an impression.

(actually, i did just remember i had anon off while writing BFM because i didnt want people getting Too Horny and crossing into creepy, and that probably had a big effect on the interaction i got and my perception of it)

as far as the smut thing... honestly, no clue, although you might be onto something with vampires being generally slutty (and rightfully so) and WDtFD being lore-focused. i feel like im reluctant to say fics without smut dont do as well, but i think that it might be true and i just dont want to acknowledge it XD i do think that, as far as rating goes, T and E do better than M because... if you dont want smut, you go T, and if you want it, you go E, you know? M is this middle ground i enjoy, but people tend not to be on middle ground with smut XD

i have no clue, but it was fun reading theories, and thank you for the enthusiasm for a fic i really love! to be honest i think if i wrote it a year before it might have been smuttier.... but the idea was also a year old and never had anything but that one scene in it, even if that scene was originally a bit more explicit, so idk. i do tend to go in cycles and whatever i did after beg for me needed to be smut-light because writing beg for me took a lot of time/energy XD see lotd following knifepoint, as well

i really loved crafting a lore fic, i had a whole outline where i tracked what had been hinted at and in what ways, what had been revealed so far, what i still needed to foreshadow/explain, etc, because there was so much stuff i wanted to imply and then reveal, and im realllllly happy with the finished product, so thank you for the love! <3

I was listening to music on shuffle earlier and a nightcore song played, and I was just instantly transported back to the year of our lord 2012

that got me thinking–because damn, it's kinda weird that I was OBSESSED with this one youtube channel for like two years but it was german and obviously ten years ago so. idk it didn't feel like it but I guess it WAS niche even back then. but now it's like. not to be dramatic but it did shape me as a person a little and no one even knows it!!!!!

okay so listen there was this one channel called "applewar pictures" (if you recognise that you deserve a veterans discount fr) and like 10 people worked on it. it was a big friend group who liked making videos together and most of them also had individual channels. that's the deep lore we're not getting into that

one of the main guys was this 30 year old dude who went by "chan" and was obsessed with mangas which back then was still very novel to the german youth. trust me I was there

okay but the important part was. that guy had a BUNCH of guinea pigs. he had a whole room dedicated to them and he made ANOTHER youtube channel where he would post little sketches he did with the guinea pigs. they were all named after food items and he gave them all distinct characters and voices. to a kid that was the FUNNIEST shit ever. are you with me so far

now, the plot thickens. that channel attracted a fan artist who drew the guinea pigs as humans, and she started working together with the applewar crew and. sit down you're not gonna believe this. PRODUCED A GERMAN MANGA ABOUT THE HUMAN GUINEA PIGS. YES I OWN THAT IT'S IN A BOX IN MY ROOM

I kinda miss "early" youtube and being a child and getting invested in some weeaboo and his very lovingly cared for guinea pigs. there was a whole bustling fandom around it too!!! man. the artist also produced original works I read as a kid and she had a lot of really cool ideas and concepts I was slightly obsessed with. I wonder how everyone's doing today. not gonna check tho, some things need to stay in the past. anyway

alright I made this post and @knife-moth-mc indicated that more concrete instructions(??) would be appreciated, SO! this is not like, a checklist or anything, not orders or must haves or w/e, just stuff that I find easiest to engage with especially when my brain is a big ol pile of goo (ie Right Now)

(before we begin I recognize that all this shit is Work and Takes Time And Also Effort, I'm not saying it should already be done; I do however have various mental disabilities(?) that unfortunately stack and make it really difficult for me to 1) read big blocks of text and 2) synthasize information myself. a lot of this list is going to be stuff like that!)

LET'S BEGIN!!

to start, having at least some kind of landing page or template for every character in the SMP- it doesn't have to be detailed, it doesn't even have to have information beyond like, their name and pronouns- but trying to follow a stream for the first time and having characters pop in and out is really difficult when I go to check their pronouns and they aren't even on the list of characters. idk how the wiki editing works? I've never done that, but I think there's a way to just have the sections with [TBD] in them, as a placeholder. not sure how difficult that is tho, but even that would be super helpful

alternatively (or maybe additionally?) some kind of list of All Characters, with basic information like pronouns, name, race/species/abilities, notable relations, and so on. a short list so I know who everyone's talking about

a lot of these are gonna be short lists sorry akldh BUT just... a ten words or less description of each character and their arc. maybe not literally ten words, but Very Short and succinct; details could go somewhere else, so if I'm interested in a specific character I could go and dive deeper on their page, but if I'm trying to figure out why idk c!Aster hates c!Sleep (???? not canon I don't think but idk!!) I can go to their page and see oh yea they had some kinda argument over bombs or the void or smth.

edited versions of vods!! that would be SO helpful (if Incredibly Difficult :pensive:)

alternatively, a short list of "these are the lore relevant vods, watch these to know what's going on"

building off that, playlists of different arcs and different people, not necessarily wholly seperate but isolated so I can go "wait what's up with the maskarade huh" and watch idk 5 hours of video instead of. hundreds.

clip videos. those are my saving grace, they let my poor adhd ass stay focused on the same video for Many Minutes while also highlighting what's important AND letting get multiple perspectives, which helps me orient myself in the story/lore.

clip video ideas (inspiration): funny moments - Aster paranoid moments - STARS eats chat??? compilation - Sleep&STARS interactions - bloopers - Haven fucked up and evil moments - every time [character] speaks in [video/stream/specific streamers video/etc]

going back to the wiki stuff, maybe a timeline version that has one sentence per event, and then links off to a more detailed page on that specific event? so someone can skim it and have an idea of The Server At Large, but the information on all the fun moments and little character interactions is Still There, just not cluttering up the summary (:V bad wording but brain no work :V).

TL;DR: a short list of all the characters and their pronouns/names, stance on different server events, and a two sentence summary of what those events Are would do wonders in my personal ability to delve deep into haven lore 👀
