funny to think that when i was a kid i was all "i REFUSE to ever work an office job, i am a wild creature, my spirit is free and tempestuous and cannot be contained within cubicle walls" and now at the age of [REDACTED] i'm like please. please give me an office job. please give me a sensible office job where all i have to do is get up at the same time each day and clock in and send emails and clock out again. i am on my knees begging.

Hey!
I have a question for your slashers boys it's maybe a bit random but what's their morning routine like? like what do they have for breakfast? (if they have any at all) and who's more of a morning person Sun or Moon? I already have a feeling who it could be but maybe I'm completely wrong.
Anyway
I Hope you have a good day/night!
Sun's up at like. 5 am. Sometimes, he'll come out into the living room to see that Moonie is still out perusing the neighborhood. But Moon's usually home by sunrise see what i did there
Sun showers, gets himself ready and dressed, makes coffee, does a bit of tidying up, laundry, other household chores. Can see him throwing some bread in the toaster or popping a frozen meal in the microwave for breakfast. Bet both he and Moon like sugary cereals 😝✨.
Moon's pretty low-energy, grumpy. Likely to get extra snappy in the morning. There are few words exchanged during this time of day, save perhaps some reporting on what Moon saw during the night. Moon showers (most of the time), eats, and then dozes on the sofa until Sun's ready to head to the arcade—around 9. Moon drives. All of his vocalizations are grumbling growls and forceful sighs. As soon as they get there, Moon usually makes straight for the breakroom couch. Sun will roll his eyes and start on getting the arcade in order.
I think this is one of his favorite times of day. Sun doesn’t really like to be alone for too long, but the arcade is home and Moonie’s enough of a presence in the break room to put him at ease.
He turns on the arcade speakers, then hums and dances his way through his morning checklist. Restocking the prize counter, vending machines, doing any cleaning that he felt was necessary even after the closing scrub down last night. He looks to see if there's any parties or scheduled events, makes orders from the computer and phone, double triple checks all the machines and games to make sure the place is spick and spam before they open midday.

@gorps I think that's a pretty reasonable response to the opening of the game and, while not the intended one, fairly obvious. It's a bit difficult to sum up what Signalis is * about * to someone who's never experienced the game (because it's very much a game you experience) but it might be good to start by saying that Signalis is a game about a truth that is too horrifying to comprehend and, to that end, tends to involve a lot of misdirection in its storytelling.
The purpose of using the trappings of East Germany is fairly obvious to me, having played the game multiple times, and it basically comes down to the game wanting to signal a dystopian setting that coincides with Germany and (as mentioned in the tags of a different post) the two aesthetic archetypes for that are East Germany and the Third Reich. Signalis did not choose this latter option for obvious reasons. Beyond aesthetics, however, the setting does not sincerely attempt to imitate East Germany or the USSR, and these aesthetics are inherently farcical, beginning with the assumption that you are dealing with a setting that is overseen by a "government" as opposed to a carceral institution or a family.
A common misinterpretation (or at least I'll confidently call it a misinterpretation) of Signalis is that it's necessarily about a society or an institution rather than an individual. Signalis is a very personal and a very individual story that encompasses a number of themes, notably the alienation of racial minorities in Germany. Yuri Stern has stated that their identity as a Malaysian-Chinese-Austrian person living in Germany affects the themes of their work, and Signalis establishes a pretty extensive library of geometric and linguistic symbols to communicate this idea.
Like I said, I don't think reading the trappings of Signalis as anti-communist is like, wrong, per se, so much as short-sighted or missing the forests for the trees. The game is much more about racist, psychiatric, and domestic violence within modern day Germany and has really no interest in commenting on the USSR or communism as a system.

I thought my "struggling to get anything done until its very very late at night, and only for a few hours, after a full day of fatigue and laziness" behavior was a recent thing, in the wake of graduating and being unemployed and out of schooling, but its been at the very least 5 years because I made a comic about this when i was still IN college.

Interesting. Don’t necessarily think I’m autistic but I have more going on than just ADHD and I’m not sure what that is.
#I’m not even sure if the ADHD is actually ADHD either or if it’s just technology addiction#Gonna get a REAL neuropsych evaluation at some point out of sheer curiosity as to what the fuck is wrong with me#I relate to a lot of autistic things and I relate to a lot of ADHD things; but I don’t entirely relate to the majority of either population#and I don’t relate to people with both enough to think I have both#I’ve begun treating myself as if I am autistic just for Kicks and using things that help them and it’s helping in some ways#but I know it’s probably not autism because even though I struggle socially; it’s not because of the same reasons#I understand social cues; I was only accidentally perceived as rude as a kid (and most kids are kind of blunt)#(Mostly a moderate amount of “Stop correcting me! It’s disrespectful!” from my parents)#And nowadays because of how much psychology and acting I study; I can perceive shrimp social cues#And I’m purposefully doing all the right things but it still feels like I fail social interactions because of my lack of assertiveness#which I KNOW come from being raised in a cult#so perhaps my odd social behavior is from CPTSD from being raised in a puritan doomsday cult as an only child#Because I was NOT introverted or sensitive to others as a child#I did not have routines as a child and the ones I did have were for fun and did not distress me if I strayed from them#But now I need structure as an adult because I don’t know what else to do with myself if I have nowhere to be#But at the same time everyone feels worse when they have no routine or expectations#And is it actually inattentive ADHD or severe derealization and an itch to do as many things as possible#because I spent my childhood being raised in a boring doomsday cult by disabled older parents who couldn’t physically do much?#(And I don’t fault my parents for being disabled but I do fault them for the whole doomsday cult thing)#So I spent my whole childhood doing mentally tedious things when really I’m more wired for physically spontaneous things#Because I was not allowed to walk around the neighborhood alone until I was sixteen#And I couldn’t hang out with friends I wanted to hang out with because they were bad association#So of course I got really good at drawing even though I don’t even like drawing that much#Of course I got really good at writing even though I don’t like writing that much#Now that I don’t need to escape from anything I find I actually hate drawing and writing because it’s such a chore#they make my heart rate accelerate in a way I don’t like to feel#(I hate writing less than drawing)
