THE SQ3R METHOD
The SQR method (survey, question, read, recite, review) is a reading comprehension technique that helps you to identify important facts and retain information within their textbook.
STEPS
I. Survey - Skim over the reading instead of start reading the textbook.
2. Question - Form questions of the topic.
3. Read - Begin reading the full chapter and look for answers to the questions you formulated.
4. Recite - After reading a section, summarize in your own words what you just read
5. Review -Review by quizzing yourself on what you just learned

Today I thought I’d share a translation app that I frequently use to help me study Korean.
It’s called…
🥁🥁🥁
mirinae
This app is great because it not only translates the Korean text you input, but it also breaks down the sentence.

They also have a section called wikinae (which is basically an urban dictionary for Korean) where you can learn Korean slang. Here’s a sample entry from wikinae:

Anyways, that’s all for now.
Happy studying! 👋🏾

Hi! Little update on the Quizlet-like app, henceforth known and tagged as Innaflash. (One of my friend's ideas, and I'm a sucker for puns :) )
Tl;dr of below is i'd like opinions on the UI mockup so far, maybe some alternative color theme ideas.
No coding has happened yet, but I started making a UI mockup to get the brain juices going and also bc i just love messing around with color themes and graphic design, hee hee. I think I'm going with a webcore theme. Default will be purple, but there will be the option to change the theme (i already have the code for this so it's easy to implement). A couple images are above, I'd like to hear what you all think :)

study tools
everyone knows about quizlet, but it’s hard to get a well-rounded review when you have to meticulously create questions. and it’s especially not helpful for learning diagrams. here are some of my favorite study tools right now. they were a lifesaver for A&P this summer (other classes too but especially that one).
for studying facts, i highly recommend gizmo. you can use it on desktop or download the app. there’s somethings you can pay for but ultimately you do not have to purchase anything or start a subscription to use this tool. here’s a few images. and a video of me using it to review a deck real quick will be at the end of the post. in the video, you’ll see “coins” i’ve earned displayed in the top right- i didn’t purchase them but obtained them by “playing” aka studying. as you get questions right/earn xp, you get coins you can use to replenish hearts or freezes if you run out and don’t wanna wait for more.

for learning structures and memorizing diagrams, i liked purpose games. i feel like a lot of people have probably seen this before, but you could look up what you’re needing or make you own. for example, google “cranial bones quiz” or go to purpose games and search similar terms and you’ll almost certainly get tons of options to take as many times as you like for free. if you couldn’t find exactly what you needed, or didn’t like the ones there already, you can make an account and create your own quizzes for free. here’s their logo for easy location/recognition:
hopefully i’ll be back with another helpful post soon! i might try some with my notes and study routines for different classes. i’ll have to get into routines first though lmao. thanks for reading, and i hope one or both of these websites seems/is helpful for you. as promised, scroll down to see gizmo.ai in action.

8/30 Days "Back to Uni" Challenge
Q: What's your favourite study tool? I definitely use a LOT of different study tools depending on what I'm studying/trying to learn but the number one tool I use for everything is definitely Forest! It's an adorable app/browser extension that lets you plant and grow trees while studying to keep you off of your phone/social media sites! I don't even use it for that anymore since it trained me out of it, I just absolutely adore the cute little plants you can grow - so if you want to be friends on Forest, then here's my referral code: 387HHQASG
Join the challenge here!

Instead of using Grammarly premium, try this free add on I found! This awesome tool seems amazingly helpful for academia reading and writing! The free level is still really helpful! If quillbot doesn't work for you, I've seen that wordtune is good too.

My (ADHD) focus/organization strats
Here's some stuff that I've found works, and is working for me this semester! I want to go back and make cute graphics for this but. We'll see.
Doing a reading: Going for less visual clutter (tip: throw everything in a box, a pile behind you, or tucked behind your computer so you can't see it). Just need:
Computer to keep pomodoro timers and use with...
...Overear headphones to (1) block out distractions and (2) give me enough stimulus to stay present. My fav is white noise + the lofi study stream (nothing else fits my brain's requirements of no voices, round not sharp sounds, minor or no fading/switching side-to-side)
Critically, mini notepad for distracting thoughts. Anything that's not the reading (cool websites, chores, people to text, games to try...), write it down, deal with it when you're done. By which point it will probably not feel as important lol
A notebook if the reading is digital, or the reading + stickynotes if it's physical (bc I take notes like this but without the rewriting part usually)
Taking notes: Going for faster & easier writing, reviewing, & remembering
Color code classes and use that color in my headings, boxes (if we watch a video, i'll box my bullets on the video so I can differentiate from the lecture content), and...
...Pictures/diagrams, esp during lecture for Speed. Easier to look at and easier to remember than words.
Color code annotations (underlines/highlights in my notes, or the sticky note colors). I use big point, subpoint, new term / names / etc stuff I'll probably be tested on, and my thoughts/stuff i like
Annotate everything. Add your emotions, reactions, connections, examples, questions, ideas. I give these their own color. They go good in margins. Easier review, better remembering.
Surviving lecture: Thankfully my professors are very engaging this semester but I still use some strats
Fidgets omg. I got over myself and started bringing a fidget spinner and popit to class and it saves my life
Chop up video lectures, this is Prof. Mary Latta's idea she gives us 2-3 shorter video lectures instead of 1 long one. Pomodoro it.
Get involved with people. This is hard and took me years but it's awesome. Complement people and ask questions (stickers they have? their outfit, hair, nails, tattoos? work? major? interest in the class?), because you can (1) get friends/study buddies/people to sit next to, and (2) break the ice to asking for help and getting different perspectives. Hang out a little after/before class, ask for their reactions, examples, ideas. Gush your excitement or confess your confusion to the prof, or overhear someone doing that and jump in if you relate. None of us know 100% what's going on and it feels great to fill the gaps (or validate asking the prof for clarification!)
And important addition, when you get the pomodoro breaks (and before you start), ACTUALLY TAKE A BREAK. Do you need a shower/snack/water. You probably need to stretch. You might even need to move locations or get a different chair or move the light just to shake things up.
#studyblr#adhd#adhd studyblr#adhd student#study tools#idk tags anymore i havent been on tumblr for years#i want to be active on here but idk if i have tIMe#working 20h/week. full-time class.#volunteering at a local school for my education class.#perhaps running the campus childcare center's library. for a bit.#bc i love biting off more than i can chew#but at least it's activities with people this time and not hyperfixation projects alone on my computer#as if thats not what this post was lol uh byee

Giving a review to the note taking app I used during the pandemic: REMNOTE
During the pandemic, I came across this note taking app/ software: Remnote.
I tried it because the two features I've been looking for (for note taking and flashcards) is there all in one.
I was using the free version so there are features that are limited which was a bummer. I think I only used it for a year because I could not take more notes during my final year.
Pros: Minimalistic, kind of easy to navigate, flashcards, help support is real active, you can now use other people's documents online, good for offline too as long as your work is up to date.
Cons: Note taking is time consuming, limited features (for free version), some functions can be confusing when note taking/ you may be looking for a specific function and you don't know how to apply it.

I found a random app yesterday that lets you listen to K-pop songs while viewing the lyrics and their translations. It’s called…
DicToc KPOP
😂😂😂 I know the name sounds funny, but it’s actually a pretty cool app.
There are two modes: listening-mode and study-mode.

Listening Mode (left) helps you understand the meaning of the Korean lyrics. As you listen, the lyrics appear at the bottom of the screen in 한글 and English. (There’s also an option to enable romanization).
Study Mode (right) helps you strengthen your recall skills. In this mode, you listen to the song lyric-by-lyric and you have to remember what you just heard and put the lyrics in the correct order.

That’s all for now. Happy studying! 👋🏾
