Knack-Themed Writeblr Ask Game!

In advance of Sunset's release, we made an ask game inspired by the knacks (powers) of the characters from Sunset!

Sunset OC - Jo del Sol

I decided to take a page out of the books of @sunset-a-story and @touloserlautrec to make an intro for Jo, Sunset-style. Mostly because I know you two nerds will like it <3

Fun Facts: -was part of Saturn for a short amount of time before getting transferred to Uranus - super proud of their position in Uranus -has to set lots of alarms for themself -usually wearing headphones & listening to music -deadpan snarker -nicknamed 'Receipts' by Emmett (thanks Vee ;D)

Most people think having a perfect memory is awesome. Look at something once and remember it forever - who wouldn't want that?

Jo would be the first to tell you you're wrong, and also that technically you're talking about two separate mental functions. Just because you can form memories of something doesn't mean you'll be able to recall them later. Jo can do both. Perfectly. They remember everything - every thought and emotion they've ever had, every moment in time they've experienced, every word and sound they've ever heard. And they can recall it at will. Mostly. It's hard sifting through 944,327,000 seconds (and counting) of memory, alright? On top of that, it's easy to get lost in the memories, because everything is stored in perfect clarity down to the most minute detail, and if they're not careful, suddenly they're not just remembering something they're living it.

Plus, just because they know something doesn't mean they understand it. The words 'quantum mechanics' are just words until someone comes along and explains the theories behind them. And then, of course, it takes a lot of practice to be able to evaluate and interpret all that information. To connect ideas and from conclusions.

Jo's just saying, panmnesia isn't all it's cracked up to be.

👁️Enhanced Senses: If your OC had to give up one of their five senses, which would they choose?

You have no idea how tempting it was to answer this with a specific character and a specific sense (iykyk).

I think that out of everyone, though, Lleuwellyn would most willingly give up his sight, given that his power of having visions and being able to sense things around him a) makes using regular vision at the same time somewhat headache-inducing and b) he'd reason out that it's the most logical choice to make.

If it was an actual "this is a sacrifice you must make and not a hypothetical" situation, I think Christopher would give up his hearing. Firstly because Christopher would be the first to offer something in sacrifice, and because he's heard enough screams and cries to last several lifetimes and does not need any more c':

Do you have an ideal writing setup? (Music, font, writing program, setting?)

I have an ideal setup, but I almost never use anything close to it XD

My ideal, "What I wish my writing setup was like" consists of the following:

Sitting at a writing desk

A warm beverage, preferably tea or a tea latte

Probably gonna need a drink warmer set up because I always forget to drink lol

In the evening, all chores and distractions done with for the day

Dim lighting, such as a low lamp and/or candlelight

For drafting, my Alphasmart; for editing, Google Docs with a minty-green background to help reduce stress

The notebook for my current WIP within easy reach

My actual writing setup is almost always sitting in my bed on Google Docs because I keep forgetting my Alphasmart exists lol. It's a really useful tool for first drafts, I just haven't worked on a first draft in a while and Google Docs is just easier to access, even though I'm not as productive drafting on it ;w;

I'm still obsessed with my new SolCorp janitor, and I regret to inform @touloserlautrec and @sunset-a-story that these are the first words that have come to me in Jo's voice. I've created a weirdo :D

Jo liked to think of their memory as a long, long room full of buckets. Why buckets? They were incredibly versatile things, could be any size or color or material you needed them to be, and they were more interesting than some of the things they'd been suggested in the past. Boxes and filing cabinets were boring. But that was beside the point. Jo's memory was a long room full of buckets, and each bucket was full of something - or someone. And usually those buckets stayed exactly where they were meant to. But sometimes, something knocked a bucket over and suddenly all they could think about, all they knew, was whatever or whoever was in that bucket.
