V is for Villain 2/3
Tumblr media
What does it mean to be a villain? What does it really mean to be a vigilante? A vanquisher of evil or a victor for the good? Stories praise the fall of devils, cheer at the marvels of the virtuous, and forget the victorious tell a version conveniently veiling their own atrocities. Evilness was once the brightest star in heaven. And goodness, well, morality can so often be contentious. This time, there is the hero with the strength of a hundred men, there is the villain that can vanish his vulnerabilities in a very instant, and then there’s you.
PART 1 HERE. Superhero/Super Villain AU. Taehyung x y/n x Namjoon love triangle (or rhombus if you wanna count Yoongi :P) Continuation to Your Friendly Neighborhood Superhero, RM.
Warnings: love-hate relationship, soft yandere tae, smut, dubcon, exhibitionism, oral, shower sex, rough sex, police brutality, attempted SA, violence, unhinged y/n
Word Count: 17.8k
---
You look down at the ground quickly approaching. Namjoon isn’t going to reach you. You smile, just knowing he tried was enough.
Namjoon screams your name. He will always be your hero no matter what.
You look up in his direction again and hold out your hand, manipulating the air in an attempt to slow him down, all the times he produced craters when trying for a soft landing replaying in your mind, but the super powered hero is flying too quickly, cutting right through your efforts, desperate to get to you.
You shut your eyes.
This is going to hurt.
Jungkook side swipes you, knocking the air out of your lungs as you disappear right before Namjoon’s eyes.
How many craters has it been? Add one more to the tally.
---
You catch your breath, finally sitting up. “Is V not coming?” Jungkook hopped you immediately to Yoongi and Jin, the four of you all falling to the ground like bowling pins at the impact. Jungkook has a knack for strikes.
“He needs an alibi, he is going to be answering questions with the press.”
You huff, Taehyung should be here too, it’s his damn narrative. “Ready?” Yoongi asks the group, his eyes narrowing in on you.
Yoongi reveals his cell, showing off a map with a dozen large dots moving through the streets. “I don’t know if I can take anymore of this,” Jungkook whines wearily.
“You know, all this ended up being perfect practice for hopping into a moving location, yeah?” All three men glare at you. “Err no?”
Jungkook psyches himself up, jumping up and down. “Argh okay!”
“After that, a speeding vehicle can’t be that hard. Just don’t hop us inside of anyone,” Jin teases, grabbing onto the teleporter.
“WHAT. That’s a thing?! He’s done that?” you ask, horrified, pulling your hand back, unwilling to grab onto Jungkook.
“No!” Jungkook yells. “Okay, well, it wasn’t a person. I-I was a kid. Dammit, why did you have to remind me, Jin!”
You gag. A doe-eyed young Jungkook covered from head-to-toe in animal carcass like some tiny serial killer was not something you wanted to imagine at all. Jin laughs at you.
“Jungkook, c’mon, me and y/n got you,” Yoongi reassures as Jungkook concentrates on the map, anxiety and strain clearly present on his features.
“Me too!” Jin says. You grab Jin’s hand and place your other hand on Jungkook’s shoulder. “Yeah bunny, let’s hop, we got you,” you repeat, winking as you and Yoongi send energy into your teleporting friend.
Jungkook focuses, imagines the streets, the cars, the very exact target rolling down the highway, passing an intersection. With Jin’s help and his powers tapping into the target’s mind, and Jungkook’s overactive imagination, Jungkook can visualize everything so perfectly. It takes only a few seconds to really see…feel the differences between here and there, now and then.
So much in the world to see yet Jungkook can’t be in two places at a time, however two places at a moment's notice? That, he is excellent at!
There’s so much energy whirling around your group, Jungkook vanishes you all in a crackle of electricity.
‘What have you gotten yourself into, y/n.’ Namjoon thinks, zooming to your location.
He found you just in time to see you vanish. And then, like a lightning bolt himself, RM flies into the sky.
---
“Ahh!”
You couldn’t blame their frightful fits, four hooded figures appearing out of thin air like a demon quartet inside the politician’s special armored vehicle would make even the most hardened armed guards yell out of surprise.
“Pull over!” he yells to his driver.
“I c-can’t!” his driver yells back, desperately pulling on the steering wheel that’s locked into position, stomping on brakes that have no more give. Yoongi smirks, in the passenger’s seat. He runs his fingers over the car’s dash, revving the engine. “The car is not going to listen to you.”
Guns are drawn, but the triggers have already been locked by you.
Click.
Click Click Click.
This is the most uncomfortable ride of your life sans murder attempt, you’re squished in between Jungkook and Jin, practically in their laps. “I’m just gonna-” you wiggle your fingers in front of you and everyone’s weapons land in the laps of the men beside you, who each grab their favorite and put the safety switches back off, smirking.
His secretary tries to dial the emergency number on her cell but thanks to Yoongi, the cell tower has decided not to respond. You freeze everyone’s limbs in the caravan, making things easier.
“I heard rumors of this city, but I can’t believe it's real,” the mayor stutters, body locked and his eyes bulging.
“Rumors, what kind?” you ask, intrigued.
“Super…villains.”
“Eh?!”
“Get it done,” Yoongi grunts, watching the other dots on his cell move throughout the city.
“Hello Mayor,” Jin speaks. “I’m glad I could catch an audience with you before you left our beautiful city. Seeing as we both share an invested interest in our neighboring habitats, as you demonstrated at today’s rally,” he says, landing a hand on his shoulder and the politician’s eyes glaze over, “this will only take a moment.”
Everyone else stares at your group like the undead, it creeps you out. so you shut their eyes, pulling off your hood. “This thing is itchy, I hate it.”
“We should wear eye masks instead,” Jungkook suggests.
“No masks!” You and Yoongi speak in unison.
“All good!” Jin says cheerfully as he removes his hand.
“He’s pissing himself.” Jungkook complains.
“Ew!” you groan, the smell of pee filling the confined space.
“They do that most of the time, don’t they?” Yoongi grimaces.
“These guys are so old it's amazing they have any control of their bladders,” Seokjin huffs.
“Can’t you, like, stop it,” Jungkook whines at you.
“Ew! No way!” you retort back. “What did you do to him?” you ask, the politician’s eyes still look unfocused and scared, shell-shocked.
“Just had a nice long chat,” Jin says, which didn’t make any sense to you, barely a minute had passed, but you guess it was another one of Jin’s mind games he likes to play. “We worked out a great deal! Right?” Jin warns. The petrified man in front of you can’t really move without your permission, but he squeaks out a small sound of agreement.
“Like I explained, we don’t want to hurt you. We just want your support,” he says, patting the politician’s knee. “But we can hurt you.”
You tighten his tie with your powers, constricting the politician's throat with his own party colors.
“And find you, wherever you go.” Jin’s voice drops to a lower register and it has a terrifying effect.
Terrifying and sexy, you think. The mind reader rarely acts this serious. It’s a hot look on him. You truly hope Jin is too busy to pay attention to your next thoughts. Jin leans back and puts his arm over your shoulder, dashing your hopes.
“Ready?” Jungkook asks, turning around to peer at Yoongi’s map once more.
The car stops abruptly. So abruptly everyone is thrown forward and backward, but you have the forethought to catch your bodies before any damage happens.
You turn around, ready to yell at Yoongi for the abrupt stop and see dark brown eyes, a determined scowl, and RM standing with his hands on the front hood.
“I know we can count on your support,” Jin warns.
“How the hell did he find us?”
“Your damn earrings!” Yoongi yells.
“Don’t blame me!” you pout. “You said you took out the trackers!”
“I did! So why is there one in there?!” Yoongi yells back, realizing the new devices installed.
“Maybe RM put them back in during one of your little sleep overs,” Seokjin whispers in your ear.
“Your what?”
“J-Jungkook now!” you yell.
In a coordinated effort you all reach for one another, hands interlocking and disappearing right as RM crashes his fist into the windshield.
The chase is on.
Roads are backed up, city traffic is worse than usual while everyone tries to leave the arena, and driving a couple blocks is taking five times longer than usual.
But RM can fly.
And JK can move through space and time.
It takes mere minutes between targets. Though, the time you experience dreading RM causing another commotion while waiting on Jin really feels like an eternity.
-
Ugh, you wish Namjoon didn’t have to wreck every car he managed to track you guys to. He’s really blowing the whole point of this plot, discreetness has gone out the window, or rather his fist is going through the window, and the convoy of police vehicles already surrounding the rather important politician is realizing the enemy had already snuck inside their barrier, turning their sights and guns to the scene.
What will the media say this time? No one was supposed to see you guys or know what you were up to! That was the whole point of this crazy plan, but with RM plans rarely go smoothly. At least part of your plans are succeeding, you think, as the man in front of you agrees over and over again he will be cooperative to Jin.
You pull your hood down lower, concealing your eyes.
“This is the last one, isn’t it? Still need me?” you whisper to Jungkook.
“Uhh yeah, you’re kind of crucial to us not being killed,” Jungkook whispers back.
“You have the guns, though,” you retort.
On cue RM pulls the car door off its hinges, grabbing the closest hooded figure out of the car.
Unfortunately, it’s Jungkook, and the teleporter hops out of his clothes, a new trick he’s learned after dealing with RM.
A very bare chested Jungkook appears right back where he was, hair disheveled and only a mask covering his mouth and identity now. Thank god for Yoongi no cameras are able to catch any identifying tattoos, and you are surprised to see the young teleporter has a lot.
You all reach for him in unison, hands landing on his skin. You and Jin have the same idea, both grabbing a handful of pec...and squeezing.
But RM is not to be underestimated! He wanted to stop you all, but more than that, he wanted to catch you...red-handed.
A small little device was all it took. Namjoon; who has studied up and read every book he could find on electricity, using his intellect instead of his power to try to defeat you this time, with his newfound alone time he started to make devices that might finally help him counter-attack your friends’ infuriating powers; he sets off one of those devices right inside the vehicle.
Jungkook is stunned, quite literally unable to move through the currents shocking his system.
Yoongi is overwhelmed, and by the time it is going to take him to figure out a translation to the new handmade device, with every shockwave he is experiencing, it might be too late!
You, however, could see a solution even if every shock clouded your vision.
You can’t speak, you can barely move, the stunning was impressively strong. You might have been shocked into a stupor, but in your mind, communication with Jin was perfect.
‘Jungkook!’
‘Hey…JUNGKOOK.’
At a time like this Jungkook didn’t know whether he should be grateful or cursing the fact that all he could think about was Jin’s voice instead of his friends and family and everyone he was about to let down getting so publicly arrested.
‘Jungkookie, hop us!’
‘DO YOU THINK I WASN’T TRYING?!’ Jungkook thinks back. But due to the untouchable electricity Jungkook couldn’t concentrate on even hopping himself, much less everyone else.
‘No, hop everything! Hop the entire damn car!’
THE CAR THAT WAS CURRENTLY FUCKING UP HIS POWERS? Jin wants Jungkook to bring it along for the ride, err well make it the ride? Hasn’t Jungkook done enough?! The teleporter’s inner monologue rivals the self-pity of a Greek Tragedy hero.
There is a pretty blue glow all around him, the electricity taking on a familiar trait.
Yoongi’s.
Jungkook can hear strained cries coming from you. The shocks multiplying to a painfully strong degree as the device is supercharged.
Actually it doesn't really hurt, it kind of feels like a massage, all the energy is making Jungkook feel good...powerful.
-
“SHIT!” Hoseok yells.
Jimin cries out, falling off his chair.
The device in the car goes haywire for a second, before completely dudding out.
You all topple out of the vehicle, reorienting yourselves with the help of Hoseok and Jimin. You grab Jungkook, stumbling with him to the rear of the caravan.
“You h-have to take it back. The caravan!”
“I can’t,” Jungkook groans, feeling sick.
You lean against his back, hugging him tightly, exhausted from using your powers to such magnitudes, and even still doing so to keep the targets frozen. “You have to,” you squeeze Jungkook, healing and powering up the teleporter one last time-
-
Namjoon blinks. ‘It’s invisible? Did V- No, it’s gone.’
Oh, now it’s back.
He circles the vehicle, finding you and Jungkook sprawled on the ground.
You’re lying face down, passed out over the teleporter, who shifts and tries to kick his feet away from the advancing and furious superhero. Red lasers land on Jungkook’s bare chest-
The tires deflate, hit by the bullets that would have gone through you and Jungkook if the teleporter hadn’t disappeared at that exact moment-
Namjoon stands frozen. ‘S-She’s not dead, Jungkook teleported before she could have gotten hit,’ he thinks.
You’re not dead...you’re not dead...you wouldn’t dare...
He recollects himself, focusing back on the caravan as police descend around him. He looks inside the vehicle, where a group of scared personnel and one positively petrified politician sit...and no one else. “Are you okay?! Tell me what they did to you, I can try and help-”
“Nothing! N-Nothing, they didn’t do anything,” he swallows.
The neighboring city’s mayor stumbles out of the car, screeching at his confused security. “Goddammit, what do I pay you all for?!” Namjoon watches him berate everyone, trying to gain the power he had momentarily been stripped of.
“I can help you,” Namjoon says slow and reassuringly as if her were talking to a temper tantrum-ing child. “If you explain what happened, I can stop them.” Namjoon was frustratingly hitting dead ends as no politician would let him in on what your group was doing, and if there was no crime to report...
“Mayor! Please listen-”
“I-If you’re gonna stop them, then s-stop them! Otherwise leave m-me out of it!”
Namjoon clenches his jaw, eyeing one security guard who looks like he’s on the verge of quitting...
---
“Today is the worst day of my life.”
“What about that time you teleported your hand through a fence and we had to take you to the hospital?”
“Or the time you teleported to that volcano?”
“It was inactive,” Hoseok reminds Jimin.
“Excuse me, the worst day of your life? Did you get shot?” you grunt. Jungkook holds up his arm angrily. “That’s just a graze.”
“Yours is just a graze.”
“Mine is deeper,” you pull Hoseok’s hand away, and blood gushes out from the cut across your hip. “Ow ow ow! See!”
“Can’t you heal it?” Hoseok asks, holding the compress to your side.
“God, I have to do everything around here!” you whine. “I’m tired!” You would still be passed out if you hadn’t woken up from the excruciating pain.
“Should we take them to a doctor?” Yoongi asks Jin.
“Ehh they seem to be okay?” The two oldest watch as the others dote on you and Jungkook, the both of you making convincing arguments as to why you need to be carried in Hoseok’s arms to the couch and why Jungkook needs Jimin to hand-feed him food.
---
You stretch, waking up from your nap, delicately removing yourself from Hoseok’s and Yoongi’s embrace, and finding the teleporter eating his third bowl of ramen. “Jungkook, hop me to RM!”
“What? Are you crazy? That last time he looked ready to kill me!”
“I will actually kill you if you d-”
“Y/n, I need to debrief with you,” Taehyung calls out to you, entering the quarters.
Oh there he is, so untraumatized from the whole day’s ordeal, you can’t help but glare at him. “Can’t Jin-”
“No,” Taehyung says sternly, “You, y/n.”
You cross your arms, deciding in which direction you should hurl Taehyung away from you. He crosses his arms too, standing tall, stepping into your space.
“Alright,” you huff, rolling your eyes. He’s lucky you find the authoritative look so hot. You glance at the mind reader, he better not be listening to you. You bump Taehyung’s shoulder as you head for his room, not wanting to wake the others.
-
“What I don’t understand is how RM found you all so fast?” he asks rhetorically, leaning against his work desk after you explained everything (well, clearly not everything), the two of you alone in his old small office quarters. You stay quiet. “What did I say about wearing those earrings on missions-”
“‘Y/n, don’t wear those earrings on missions,’” you lower your voice as low as you can, mimicking Taehyung’s deep timber.
Taehyung’s eyebrow twitches. You cross your arms. “I didn’t know! If you’re going to blame someone, blame Yoongi! Tech is his specialty, is it not?”
“It doesn’t change the fact that you and Jungkook almost died, because of RM. I can’t stop thinking about what would have happened if Jungkook had waited only a second longer-”
You wanted to argue with him, tell him people almost die all the time. That technically it wasn’t RM’s fault, it was Taehyung’s fault for making you all do this in the first place, and that Taehyung has no right to look at you with those accusing eyes of his, just because you weren’t going to stop wearing the present Namjoon gave you. How were you supposed to know he was going to put the trackers back in while you were sleeping, it was kind of impressive actually-
“Everything could have been ruined-”
“You have the support,” you argue. “What more do you want?”
Taehyung runs a hand through his hair, glancing over at you...you, he wants to say. But the way his eyes refuse to look away says enough, making you feel guilty. You decide to change the subject.
“They are catching on though...” you murmur, moving closer to him. “About our powers. We all have to be even more careful.”
“Let them talk, they should feel a little fear. It’s all rumors still. Nothing will hit the news circuit, I will make sure of it.”
“And what if it does come back to you, dear Mayor,” you cross your arms, spitting out the title. “Isn’t that what you have been trying to avoid, by making us do all the dirty work?”
Taehyung smiles at you rather than matching your ire. He pulls off his tie and jacket, removing the stuffy formal clothes. “I appreciate that you help me...us...that you do this for us. Even if you are...compromised,” he says begrudgingly. “You kept my friends alive, and that means more to me...”
‘If he thinks touching your cheek like that and giving you those eyes is going to smooth things over, he’s wrong!’ you think, annoyed and flustered from the attention. You smack his hand away. “My money? You also owe me for fixing the floor...and the table,” you add, looking over at the newly cleaned hide out space after the “car crash” that happened inside.
“Done.” You turn to leave but Taehyung pulls you back. “Before you go running off into the night…” He stops, holding your attention, “...I wanted to show you something.”
He goes over to his desk, pulling out a file, and showing you a bunch of complicated diagrams, but you get the gist of it. Compared to all the other cities, recycling is up, pollution is down, renewable energy use is up, violent crime is down, it's all very impressive data for such a big industrial city. “I just wanted to remind you...why we had to do that...we are doing good-”
“I know that,” you frown, sighing. “I’m not the one you have to convince.”
You don’t have to say his name, Taehyung already knows who you’re talking about. You won’t seem let it go...him go. You desperately want RM on your side.
Taehyung sighs. You sit in his leather chair, putting your feet up on his desk, looking through the figures again, humming. It does make you happy to see the city so drastically improving, Taehyung doesn't have to know that though (you threaten Seokjin just in case he’s listening).
“How are you and Yoongi?” You catch Taehyung looking at your legs.
“Me and Yoongi? I am great, Yoongi is great. Why don’t you ask Yoongi?” You stiffen. Actually, he seemed pretty upset at you...
Taehyung laughs, “Funny, he said basically the same thing.”
“Well, he’s my favorite for a reason,” you speak apathetically, worried Taehyung will try to use him against you like he does with everything else.
Taehyung smirks down at you knowingly. You cross your arms, wheeling your chair around “Is there anything else before I go, Mayor?”
Taehyung scoffs, leaning over you until you’re caged in, his hands pressing down on the chair’s armrests. He looks down at you, serious, no sly smile or hint of playfulness anymore.
“You really like throwing that in my face. You know, when The Mayor died, because of you by the way, we all decided I was going to run,” he gestures to the cracked door, where you can hear the others argue over...food? Again?! “Do you think I enjoy being in the limelight like this, every little thing I do being scrutinized for everyone to see?”
His face is too close to you, his eyes watch you like he’s peering through you…inside you. “I think you do, and so what? You’re good at it.” You compliment him to smooth down the tension. It's also true, Taehyung is ridiculously charismatic when he wants to be, and great at convincing people to do what he wants, he convinced you...and maybe you hold it against him, the way you always seem to help him get exactly what he wants. Especially when he says things like...
“I feel like you hate me now...” he laughs, unable to hide his sadness and making you feel guilty in the process. “Is it because I keep beating your superhero?”
You break eye contact first, scoffing, following the lines of his jaw down, the top two buttons of Taehyung’s shirt now undone, giving you a glimpse of his chest. By now you are used to everyone else being in your personal space, but not Taehyung.
It feels...different when he gets so close to you. It feels forbidden.
Maybe Joon’s disdain for V affects you more than you want to admit-
“I don’t hate you...” you swallow, leaning back as he gets closer. “I...I...just don’t like you.” You decide it’s easier to keep Taehyung at a distance, so you lie. You don’t trust him, or yourself, when you’re around him.
Taehyung stares at you in surprise. “You liar!” he laughs.
“Go ask Jin then!” you challenge, you know Jin is going to tell him you’re lying, but that doesn’t mean you haven’t made it confusing. Taehyung huffs, and then vanishes before your eyes. You barely caught a glimpse of the anger in his expression, now unsure whether you witnessed it at all.
You try to stand up but Taehyung hasn't actually left, and you bump into him. “You want to know why I don’t like you?” you ask, pushing against his chest. “I know you have Yoongi keeping tabs on me, Jungkook watching me, even Jimin following me acting like a stray, like it’s a crime to want to leave, like I’m not allowed to be on my own. Taehyung…I am never ever going to stop wanting to see my friend!”
You feel Taehyung’s hot breath against the shell of your ear when he whispers, “I’m trying to keep you from getting hurt, y/n. Namjoon is going to hurt you. He always hurts you. It may not always be like today, where we can see it,” you can feel his hand nudge carefully against your healing scar, “but we can all tell you’re hurting...”
Somehow that last part stings worse than your injury.
His invisibility powers makes Taehyung more confident, daring, adding, “I would never hurt you like that.”
“You say that now…but your powers can’t show the future,” you say quietly. “I-I just want to take my money and go-”
“Go where, to Kim Namjoon?! Dammit y/n, you think he’s going to be happy to see you after today…”
“Why are you being like this?!”
“Because I can’t stop! I can’t stop worrying about you…thinking about you…caring about you...” You feel something soft graze your jaw.
You stay quiet, biting your tongue. You can’t see Taehyung, but it’s like you can feel him everywhere. The chair tilts as he moves himself against you, your arms and legs bumping into his body as you try to balance yourself. You’re not sure what you’re touching but it’s hard and muscled and warm and makes your breath hitch.
You knew Taehyung had grown a particular liking to you for your powers, and you also knew he was a big flirt, but sometimes his honeyed words would catch you off guard, make you wonder if the sweetness oozing from his lips was genuine, and you would have to catch yourself from wanting a taste.
“I’m okay, Taehyung,” you say under your breath, “You don’t have to worry.”
Taehyung appears right in front of you, startling you how close he really was to you, lips right next to yours. “No, ‘Mayor’? Looks like we’re making progress, y/n.” He smirks, his smirk quickly turning into a smile.
You scoff. “You are such a little brat. What do you really want from me, Kim Taehyung?”
“What I’ve always wanted,” he glances down at your lips. “Just you.” The back of his fingers run along your chin. “For once, don’t go to him and stay with me tonight?”
Namjoon liked to tell you how ruthless, how dangerous and evil Taehyung is. Part of you wanted to believe Namjoon…to actually hate Taehyung, it would make things so much easier if you could see what Namjoon sees. But you don’t. So what if he’s opportunistic and vengeful, or willing to do anything to win? Taehyung is a lot like you.
---
You finish showering, wiping the condensation off your mirror. Scalding water felt the best, and tonight, you needed the hot steam and soothing lavender soap to calm you down.
“Jimin! I forgot my towel!”
Jimin brings you a towel in his mouth, having shifted into a small brown dachshund. He shakes his tail happily at you. You know your roommate only stays with you so Taehyung can keep tabs on you, but Jimin is so damn cute when he transforms! You don’t even mind it! He barks twice before leaving, ugh, he’s adorable!
You went home after talking with Taehyung, deciding you wanted to have a night to yourself after all, feeling confused and worst of all, guilty for passing out at the most inconvenient time and almost getting the teleporter seriously injured.
You pull on a satin pair of pajamas, a lacy trimmed tank top and shorts, turning on your tea kettle to make Jimin and you some hot tea.
You sigh, looking down at dachshund Jimin, “Some watch dog you are,” you mutter, picking him up. He licks your face. “I don’t forgive you, traitor,” you accuse, before dropping him down again.
“I know you’re here, I can feel you,” you yell into your empty apartment. You close your eyes, it’s easier to concentrate that way. Was he by your couch, no, where did that sneak move to?
“What do you think? If I tear your body to pieces while you’re like this do they reanimate or will you just be invisible forever so they’ll never find you?” you threaten.
A loud knock at the door stops your thoughts and you whip your head around. You knew who it was, unfortunately. There was no mistaking the size and strength of the particular grouping of molecules that made up the superhero shaped figure stalking around your door. You definitely had to smooth things out with the tech talker so he could remove the earring tracker again.
Jimin growls behind your back, transformed into the largest Doberman you’ve ever seen. “Oh now you wanna guard me? Go to your room, Jimin!” you hiss.
“And don’t fucking move! Wherever you are!” You whisper at your uninvited guest.
Moving to the door, you open it up to a not so friendly face. Joon stands tall in a sweater and jeans, an annoyed glare behind thick frames.
You look him up and down stopping at his new glasses, “Break another pair?”
He stares at you blankly. Did he come all this way to give you the silent treatment?
You step into the hallway with him, shivering. If there wasn’t a certain moppy headed menace in your new apartment with a vendetta against your ex friend you would have pulled Namjoon in by now, but you couldn’t risk it.
“Were you- Are you okay?” he asks, getting his concerns out of the way.
“I was grazed by a bullet,” you smile meekly.
“What?” Namjoon falters, concern spreading over his features.
“Oh, it was bad,” you tease. “I’m lucky I’m alive.”
“Don’t joke-”
You laugh softly, feeling a little less unburdened over his anger at you. “Well I’m fine now, so don't worry,” you smile. “Did you hurt yourself when you landed?” you reach out to touch his shoulder.
Namjoon grabs your hand before you can touch him, back to business. “I need you to come with me-”
“Are you asking me out?” you joke.
“I need you to come with me and tell every one of those people you hurt that when they go to vote next session, they can vote freely without any fear something will happen to them or their families-”
“We wouldn’t hurt their families...”
“Y/n!”
“If you want me to go with you, I will, but it won’t change their minds,” you argue. “You know it too. Just let this one go, Joon, we beat you this time.”
‘We,’ the way you say it breaks Joon. He shakes his head no, holding your wrist tighter.
The tea kettle starts to whistle. “Did you want some tea?”
“Seriously? You can act like nothing happened, after what they did, what you did to-”
You sigh defeatedly, massaging your brow to stop the forming headache. Why does Taehyung always have to be right, it can be so damn infuriating…
“But you don’t mind when I’m helping you, when you’re using me to undermine The Mayor? Suddenly, it’s okay to be around someone you find so despicable, right?!” you yell, your anger getting the best of you.
Namjoon touches your cheek, turning you to meet his eyes again, letting all the words he wants to say sit on his tongue.
‘I don't think that,’ ‘Do you know how worried I was about you?’ ‘I was losing my mind,’  ‘Please, just stop what you're doing, I will forgive you if you just! stop!’ “Y/n...”
Namjoon grabs your arms, pushing you back inside your apartment. “I know he’s in here with you.”
Well, he was, but not for any weird reason Namjoon was currently processing through right now. “I saw the kettle move. V!”
You look over your shoulder at the silenced kettle. Idiot. But you knew Taehyung was no idiot. You knew he did it on purpose, and that pissed you off even more.
“No-” Namjoon presses, pushing past you. You move in front to stop him, using more than your physical strength to match his own. “It w-was Jimin!”
On cue, a very human Jimin walks out in his boxers, glaring at the superhero. “Y/n, do you need my help?”
“N-No! G-Go put on a shirt!” you hiss, embarrassed at his lack of clothes. You turn back around to face Joon, who is preoccupied, eyes scanning your home for any movement. “Joon...”
Ugh, you just wanted to relax tonight! Screw this! “You know what?! If you want to get back at V, don’t try to change their minds, just make sure they can’t vote.”
“What are you talking about?”
Jimin calls out your name in warning, scanning the room slowly.
You look around your apartment, trying to pinpoint Taehyung, walking around the superhero who follows your movement. “Why do you think we could blackmail them? They’re corrupt, obviously. Expose them if you really want to try and stop us. Get them arre-”
“I think it’s time for you to leave, Namjoon.” Jimin warns, his eyes flashing an intense yellow, pupils shifting into slits, resembling a cat’s eyes.
“Bring her back, V,” Namjoon growls, reaching out to where you just stood, touching only air.
Taehyung’s hand covers your mouth, your kitchen knife held to your throat. You put your hand over his, pulling at his fingers slowly so you can speak.
“Joon, I’m fine, listen to Jimin-”
“Show me!” Namjoon tries to pinpoint where he heard your voice. And to your surprise, Taehyung reveals the pair of you before hiding you once again.
“You really want to piss him off, huh?” you whisper under your breath to Taehyung, laughing bitterly as Namjoon’s shocked expression turns into fury.
“You did it, you compromised us for what? A nod of approval from someone who only ‘uses you’ to undermine me...your words!” He hisses back.
“You use me, you asshole. And maybe I’m tired of being used, so screw you both!”
“Y/N!” Namjoon roars.
Taehyung pushes you into the superhero, letting him see you. “Y-You’re bleeding!” Namjoon looks over your body for any other marks. Jimin’s eyes go wide in surprise, darkening back to his usual color.
“Oh. Yeah,” you wipe the small line of blood off your neck, healing yourself quickly.  “See, I’m fine.”
Namjoon holds you tightly. “You’re coming with me-”
“You won’t win that way-”
“W-Well, I’m not leaving you alone with them!”
You laugh, a sudden warmth in your chest returning at the frightful concern in his eyes, “I’ll be okay Joon, trust me,” you hug him suddenly, whispering into his ear, “Go, you’re going to need to work fast if you want to beat us, right?”
‘Us’ again, Namjoon thinks bitterly. Namjoon holds your head in his large hands, rubbing away the smudged blood from your neck. If you didn’t know better, you would have thought he might have kissed you in that moment.
You glare at the spot over Namjoon’s shoulder, lifting your hand away from Joon, a knife reanimates and flies into the kitchen, clanking to the ground close to Jimin, making the shapeshifter yelp. Namjoon tries to punch V, only swinging at air, “I can take care of myself,” you reiterate, shoving Joon away and closing the door shut with your mind as he escapes.
“Okay okay, you can’t blame me for trying to kill him,” Taehyung reanimates in front of you, an apologetic smile on his annoying face.
“You are insufferable. I can’t stand you. You’re the worst-”
“Jimin, wake up Jungkook and tell him he needs to have eyes and ears on our new friends until I can get my bill passed, now it’s going to be out of our jurisdiction so he needs to be careful-”
“-All that bullshit before about being worried about me-”
“-Then in the morning let Yoongi know he needs to monitor any new police record requests-”
Jimin clears his throat. “Y/n, are you okay?” Jimin asks you wearily before Taehyung goes any further.
“Like I said, I’m fine,” you glare at Taehyung when you say it, finally nodding at Jimin and giving him a weak smile to let him know you’re okay. “So what now, asshole? Gonna try and stab me in the back next?”
“Like you did to us? But I know you’ll stop me before anything really happens to you,” Taehyung says a matter-of-factly. “C’mon, you weren’t in any real danger. I would never actually hurt you, obviously.”
You have half a mind to just let him brutally maim you out of spite. The way Jimin ignored him meant he wasn’t too impressed with what Taehyung did to you either, could you turn him against Taehyung for you?
A hawk lands on your shoulder, Jimin’s beak knocking against your jaw, “I’m okay,” you laugh, “He wasn’t actually pressing hard.” Hawk Jimin lands on Taehyung’s shoulder next, ruffling his feathers, listening to the rest of his instructions before leaving out the window.
“Y/n, I’m sorry-”
“I just took a shower,” you whine.
Taehyung wets a wash cloth, cleaning the dried blood off your skin. “I’m sorry,” he repeats. “But I had to think fast, and you left me with little options.”
“And your first thought just had to be kidnapping with a deadly weapon? You drive me crazy.”
Taehyung chuckles, deep, soft, comforting, his fingers delicately working to help you now that Namjoon was gone. Taehyung’s specific type of comfort wasn’t what you really wanted, but it was better than nothing. You glance over at him as he silently works to clean you up.
“I’m not sorry,” you mutter, sulking.
“Oh I know damn well you’re not,” Taehyung mutters too.
“Why did you come here in the first place? I promised you, didn’t I?”
“Looks like it happened anyways...I know I said I would give you space...I...couldn't stay away.” Taehyung looks lost, unsure about what to say next, there’s no confident banter you’re used to from him.
“So needy...” you raise your eyebrow at him. You said it lightly, only teasing him, seeing if you could get him to crack a smile after the intense show down. And he does.
“...and we’re not even dating.”
“Not yet,” he smirks.
“Funny, how about we go a day without trying to kill each other first?”
“I can do that,” he says confidently.
---
Jimin is purring, cuddled against your head as an orange tabby cat. You scratch his ears and he purrs even louder. “Where are we?” This bed is huge and definitely not yours. Jimin stretches his cat body and jumps off the bed, hiding away because he knows you’re going to be mad at the answer.
You quickly put two and two together, noticing the opulence in the room, the only other place you could be was at Mayor Kim’s mansion.
“Where is Jungkook?” you find Taehyung in his study.
“Out cleaning up your mess, why?”
“Because I promised him I would break his fingers if he hopped me without my permission again.”
“I asked him to, so-” Taehyung holds out his palm to you, continuing to write down notes with his other hand.
You should. You really really want to.
“And why did you do that?”
“Because I needed to work.”
You try not to raise your voice with your next question, “And why am I here?”
“Until the bill is passed, you’ll stay with me,” he states, going back to his note taking.
“And why would I agree to that?!” You scream, poise and restraint now long gone.
Taehyung crosses his arms. “Because I can say with a hundred percent certainty you will somehow find a way to mess this up even more if I let you out of my sight.”
His desk begins to shake, the pictures in his office tilting askew. “You think you can keep me here?”
“You’ll do what I say, because I’ll tell the others what you did and as much as you like to pretend you don’t care about what they think of you-”
“Shh.” You hold up a finger, shutting Taehyung’s mouth with your powers.
You look around his office. The decor is tasteful and elegant, expensive antiques and gold finishing. Taehyung fits right in with his dignified demeanor. But you don’t belong here…and you don’t want to.
“Mayor Kim…” you step closer to your immobilized cohort, circling his desk. “You could have just asked nicely.” You take a seat on said desk, crunching the paper under you. You grab the tip of his tie wrapping it one, two, three times around your palm, pulling him closer to you.
“I’ve played along, haven’t I? Don’t make me your enemy.” You finally let your telekinetic hold on Taehyung go.
“RM is the enemy,” he swallows.
“Joon is not my enemy-”
“But he is though, y/n. You can’t be so naïve-” You yank his tie to the side, his head pressing painfully on the wood next to you. He breathes through his teeth, glaring up at you.
“And you’re so wise? Then choose your next words wisely, Taehyung.”
Taehyung grunts, palm flat on your thigh, pressing down as he tries to lift himself up unsuccessfully.
There is really only one man strong enough to fight your power.
His fingers curl into the flesh of your thigh, catching you off guard. “Did you forget our promise to each other?”
You roll your eyes, letting his tie go and crossing your arms. “You’re making it very hard for me to even like you-”
“Not that promise,” he says, fingers still gripping at your thigh. “The one we made to each other the day you asked me to help you kill The Mayor.”
-VOWS-
“Have you ever killed someone before?” Taehyung crosses his arms, looking you up and down. You would have normally faltered under his scrutinizing gaze, but you had let go of your shame in your desperation.
Should you lie? Make him believe you had no reservations. You had a feeling he would be able to see right through your lies even without Seokjin’s assistance. “No.”
Taehyung’s office had high windows and bad lighting, but the moon was full and the blinds were broken. Streaks of moonlight covered the walls of Taehyung’s office, striping the shadows where he stood.
It took you all day to build up the courage to ask Seokjin to take you to see Taehyung. You knew it was going to be no easy task to convince Taehyung and the others with the way Seokjin’s normally cocky demeanor darkened when your initial shock wore off and your intentions were clear.
Taehyung shakes his head. “We’re all going to have targets on our backs if we do this and he doesn’t die. Also, if we do go through with what you want… Y/n, you’re asking us to become murderers-”
“I’m not asking you to! I’m asking you to help me… You help me do this, and I’ll help you.”
“With what?”
“With anything,” you swallow, resolute. “I have to do this. He’s going to…he’s going to hurt Joon if I don’t do something!”
“I know.” Taehyung says impassively, “You know, that would solve all my problems, I won’t have to worry about RM anymore. So what do I even get out of helping you? What is worth putting all of us in danger to save Kim Namjoon?”
You look at him in disbelief. You want to tell Taehyung to go to hell, but you have no idea how to stop The Mayor on your own without getting caught. You need his help. “You brought me here! Why would you kidnap me, have Seokjin show me those things-”
“You’re not listening, so let me ask you again, what will you do for me-”
“What! What do you want?! I said I’d do anything!” Your eyes sting as you blink away tears in your frustration. “Taehyung, please,” you cry.
“Everything. Not anything, from now on, I want you to help us with everything.” He grips your shoulders tight. “Then, I will kill The Mayor for you myself if I have to.”
You swallow, mentally working through Taehyung’s conditions and confession. The way he said it so ardently, you wonder…if Taehyung has killed before. “No, I’ll do it.”
For Namjoon, to protect him, you would do the absolute worst without any regrets.
---
You look down at Taehyung’s long slender fingers, splayed across your thigh, resigning to his touch. “I haven’t forgotten.” You lie back, stretching out your arms, sighing. You are very aware you are making a mess of his carefully stacked memos and you don’t care. “What if I promise to be a good girl from now on? Cross my heart.” You wink, using your powers to move Taehyung’s fingers in an X across your thigh.
He licks his lips, watching as his fingers trace along your skin. “Oh but I know you’re not” Taehyung’s eyes narrow on your sly smile, his fingers moving higher up your thigh. “You like to play the part, but you always end up being…” he coughs, “bad.”
“Maybe,” you say flippantly. “Or maybe you don’t give me much of a choice.” You glare at him.
He leans over his desk and over you, caging you in. “Don’t act like you don’t enjoy it. I’ve watched you torturing people with a smile on your face.”
You sigh, giving up again. “People. People or monsters?”
“You don’t have to defend yourself to me, y/n. That’s why we make a good team,” he smiles, gripping your knee instead and shaking your leg reassuringly. You grind your teeth, resisting the urge to roll your eyes.
“I don’t mean to upset you, but…do you think Namjoon would ever give you the same grace? I wish you would see what’s in front of you…”
His hand moves to your cheek, holding you gently. His lips touch yours so softly and leave so quickly the act could barely qualify as a kiss.
Taehyung had been so gentle with you, which made the following brutality hurt even worse.
“If Namjoon knew how you really were, would he think you were a monster? If he saw what I saw that night, and what you did in that room over there,” Taehyung turns your chin so you have to look. The door to the adjoining room is shut and locked. Taehyung keeps the small study room closed, because even he can barely stomach the memory. “Would he touch you like this?” his lips press against your cheek.
-
“Jimin,” you grunt, cuddling the napping feline close to you. “Turn back into a human, please, I...need you.” Jimin transforms, his limbs tangling around yours, pulling you into an embrace.
“You know Tae is not as bad as you think he is, he’s helped me so many times, give him a chance to prove himself-”
“Bad…good…I don’t care, right now he’s being a pain in my ass,” you mumble, burying your head in Jimin’s chest where it’s warm and cozy and his steady heartbeat calms you down.
“Why do you hate him so much?” Jimin chuckles.
“If I hated him, would I still be here?” you mumble, resting against him.
“Hey, what’s wrong?” Jimin holds you tighter when you shake, breath catching in your throat. “What happened?”
“Nothing,” you don’t want to think about it and confirm your worst fears. “Can I ask you something?” you ask, looking for a distraction, perhaps some blackmail. Jimin turns his head, waiting.  “Why V?”
“Why do we follow V?”
“No.” You remember the purple spray paint etched across the bank door, back when you and Namjoon were inseparable. “Why the name, V?”
Jimin laughs, sighing, “Well-”
-
“How’s it back home?” Taehyung asks as Jungkook and Yoongi reappear with a week’s supply of homemade food in their arms, a gift from Jungkook’s mother.
“It’s getting worse,” Yoongi sighs. “Some parts can’t even cook with it.”
‘It,’ being their town’s water supply. Yoongi and Jungkook just finished their weekly trip to drop off cases of water to their families and friends. “And if that new bill goes through…I don’t even want to think about it.”
“Well, you are thinking about it, quite loudly,” Seokjin interjects, rubbing his eyes.
The group sits quietly together. “Should we try another petition?” Hoseok suggests, optimistic.
Everyone knows it won’t work. They all knew what had to be done, but Taehyung was the only one courageous enough to say it.
“No…” Taehyung sighs, glancing over at Jin, knowing he could see the idea he had in mind. “We’ve tried it their way, now let’s do it our way.”
Jungkook cracks his knuckles. “What did you have in mind?”
Suddenly Seokjin laughs, gathering everyone’s attention. “This guy not only wants us to kidnap The Mayor, he wants us to rob a bank and blow up the courthouse.”
“Blow it up?!”
“Wait, rob a bank? Like…bank robbers?”
“Me and Jungkook have discussed it before,” Taehyung says, shrugging. “We can do it…with your help, Yoongi.” Taehyung turns to the tech talker, who seems to be mulling the idea over.
“But The Mayor, you really think we can get away with it? It’s-”
“Dangerous.” Seokjin finishes Jungkook’s thought.
“Dangerous and high-profile. I thought we are supposed to be keeping a low-profile,” Jimin reminds them.
“We’ve tried everything else,” Taehyung interjects. “Haven’t we? Maybe it’s time we make a scene.”
“And if we get caught….you’re asking us to commit about seven different felonies,” Seokjin says.
“The Mayor is too risky,” Jimin interjects again.
“We can do this! Jin?” he asks Seokjin, hoping for backup.
“I’m definitely not The Mayor’s biggest fan, but this…”
“You’ve looked through his mind, tell me if there is another way to convince him.” Jin rubs his jaw, stretching his neck, thinking it over. “This is for our families too, not just us this time. This is a chance to really make a difference. A huge difference!” Taehyung tries to convince him.
“If anything goes wrong-”
“Then Jungkook and I will get you out, no matter what, right?” Taehyung catches the youngest’s gaze and he nods.
He looks around the group, adding. “Just like any other time. We can do this.”
“This is not like any other time,” Jimin whines.
“We were almost arrested at the last protest.” Taehyung says bitterly. “They want us to be criminals so badly, so why don’t we?”
Hoseok crosses his arms. “You’re asking us to be a little more than criminals-”
“I’m in.” Yoongi speaks first, surprising everyone.
“I’m in,” Seokjin adds immediately after, coughing. “I try not to hold people’s thoughts against them, but…” He looks around the room, “Taehyung’s right, The Mayor only cares about money, he’s not going to change his mind.”
Taehyung tries to hide his smile unsuccessfully. “They think they have all the power. But the six of us here? We have real power, we just have to be willing to use it against them.”
“You forget…RM…” Jimin adds.  “What if he gets involved?”
“Against all of us? Six against one? He’ll never see us coming!”
“But he’s a superhero,” Jungkook says with a mixture of awe and worry. “How are we supposed to beat him?”
“We’ll we’re– uh,” Taehyung falters. “We have super powers too, don’t we?” Taehyung sighs. “RM and The Mayor have control of this city, but they don’t know it like us, we’re in the streets every day.”
“What are you saying?”
Seokjin laughs quietly, breaking the silence, “...I’m not wearing a cape.”
Jungkook’s eyes widen, “You want us to be superheroes?”
“No,” Seokjin says, staring at Taehyung.
“No,” Taehyung says. “They’ll never see us as heroes.” He sighs, leaning back.
Hoseok frowns. Jungkook nervously taps his foot and Yoongi crosses his arms. Jimin looks around the room at everyone’s solemn expressions and Seokjin laughs, breaking the tension.
“We’re going to be super-”
“-Villains.” Seokjin finishes.
“I’ll be their villain. I’ll be, V.” Taehyung adds, “So will you help me?”
Seokjin tsks, “RM vs. V? I’ll put some money on that. But I guess first we’re gonna have to steal it.”
“Tell us your plan, then, V.” Hoseok crosses his arms.
“Yeah, V.” Jungkook chimes in, laughing. And everything goes back to normal for the time being.
-
“Hmmm.” You play with Jimin’s fingers, “Not super subtle, is it? And you all just agreed?”
“Yeah, we all agreed eventually, wouldn’t you?” he smiles.
You roll your eyes. Well knowing what you know now about The Mayor, it wasn’t even a question! But…
“You’re loyal,” you look at Jimin, watching as his eyes slowly shift colors. “I can respect that.” You add, “Do you ever regret it?”
“Hmm,” Jimin stretches, crossing his arms behind his head. “Nah. We all…had a difficult time growing up. Now I’m sleeping in the Mayor’s mansion with a pretty girl next to me,” he jokes. “Even if this all blows up in our faces, it was worth it.”
“You don’t mind the whole world seeing you as a ‘villain’?” you ask, trying to keep your own anxious feelings down.
“The people I love don’t see me like that.”
You frown. You wish you could say the same thing…
Jimin realizes his mistake. “We all think you’re pretty badass. I’m glad you’re on our side,” he soothes. “Listen…” He sighs, wondering if he should mention the superhero, eventually deciding to continue, “I think Namjoon will eventually-”
You scoff, “I don’t wanna talk about him, just...don’t let go.” You move closer into Jimin’s arms.
You didn’t want to think about Taehyung or Namjoon or anyone right now. You just wanted to be hugged.
-
“This is a panic room, not a lounge.”
“Well, you’re keeping me here like a damn prisoner, I thought I should play the part,” you dismiss, looking over the multiple camera displays with an idealistic hope you might catch a glimpse of your superhero in the sky.
“I brought in a private chef the other day-”
“I have work, you know-”
“You are always complaining about wanting a vacation!”
“Yeah, to like, The Bahamas!” you whine.
Taehyung sighs. You sigh even louder.
“How about this, I’ll take you out, I’ve been so busy with drafting proposals, I haven’t had a chance to get out either. We could go out for drinks?”
“Aren’t you worried about being recognized?”
Taehyung smiles.
-
You know Taehyung has to hold your hand so his powers could make you invisible too, but it still feels like his fingers interlocked with yours means something more…
You did however enjoy the feeling of weaving through bodies undetected, walking down the street together completely undetectable to the naked eye.
“How are you doing?” you ask him.
“I could do this all night,” he smiles, looking in your direction. You stifle a laugh. “Seriously, lately I haven’t had a chance to use my powers. Before, I used to be invisible all the time.”
“Oh yeah?”
“Yeah, I felt more myself when I was.”
You guess you could relate in some ways. Growing up, you would avoid your powers like a plague, constantly afraid Namjoon would notice or that you might even lose control. But now that you freely use your powers, it feels like a relief, like you had been holding your breath all this time and you can finally fully breathe.
You still have those anxious thoughts every now and then, but it’s gotten better the longer you’ve been around Taehyung’s group.
“Saw that.”
“What?” you play coy, eating the fried dough you swiped from the food cart you and Taehyung just passed by. Taehyung sighs, stopping and pulling out some bills, dropping the money under the cart.
“Look at you,” you eye him, “Is this the same man who stole an entire suitcase full of jewelry?” you rib.
“That’s different, to someone like him, the value of losing a sale is worth more and I can afford to pay him.”
You stuff the remaining fried dough in your mouth. “Mhmm, not to that jeweler. Let’s go look at the lights!” You pull Taehyung along, running towards the water, a place in the city that has a nightly light display to music.
You want to get closer, but the crowd makes it impossible, it’s already hard enough to dodge people without causing a disturbance and freaking out the people around you. Taehyung holds you from behind as you reluctantly move further away to avoid suspicion. “Should I unmask us so you can see?”
“Hmm I could use my powers and-” You use your powers to defy gravity, as you and Taehyung’s body start to rise.
His grip around you tightens, “Ahh no no.”
You laugh, letting your powers waiver so your heels drop back down. “What, scared of flying?”
“Scared of heights,” Taehyung winces.
“Ooh, now I know one of your weaknesses,” you tease.
Taehyung scoffs, “Here, get that for me,” Taehyung gestures to a man standing close, looking at his hat, which at the precise moment blows away in the “wind.” You catch it easily as the man looks around for his missing hat. Taehyung thanks you and puts the cap on and pulls it down over his eyes before revealing himself and you.
“C’mon, let’s go.” He pulls you this time, guiding you into the crowd so you can see the lights better.
“Are you sure this is okay? What if someone recognizes you?” you whisper.
He leans in closer to you, head over your shoulder. “I’m not worried, I have a more than capable bodyguard right here.
You laugh, “Alright, if you say so,” you smile, letting him hug you from behind. This is the closest you and him have ever been, and even though you have the perfect view of the lights, it’s hard to pay attention with Taehyung wrapped around you so tightly, his hot breath hitting your cheek.
“You okay?” Of course Taehyung wouldn’t give you the luxury of ignoring your body’s traitorous responses. “Your heart is pounding.” His arms move up higher against your torso, pressing up against your breasts. “Excited?” he says teasingly.
“I haven’t seen the lights in awhile, so yeah,” you dismiss, turning your head upwards to the sky.
Taehyung chuckles, enjoying the moment.
“Y/n, I like you,”  Taehyung whispers in your ear.
“Do you say that to all the girls that help you overthrow an election?”
“I liked you way before that.”
“Sure, you did,” you dismiss.
“Do you even remember when we were in school?”
“Of course I remember you.”
“No you really don’t. You were always too busy with Namjoon to notice anyone else.” Taehyung sighs. “Maybe you would have noticed I liked you then.”
“What? Don’t lie to me.”
“I did!” he defends himself, “You really don’t remember, do you?”
It was true Taehyung never bullied you like your other classmates, but he was just being kind, wasn’t he?
“You were like me, different. Even before our powers. And I liked the way you never backed down to others. I wanted to be like you. I tried to be your friend-”
“That’s not true,” you turn around, forgetting about the lights.
“Ask Jimin and Jungkook. Namjoon was like your human shield.” He runs his hand along your jawline. “And I was…not brave enough then,” he looks down.
Can you believe him? Back in school you remember Taehyung was well-liked and popular, a little eccentric sometimes and acted like a goofball with his friends, but…
You try to think back to any interactions you might have had with him-
A group of popular girls had knocked your books out of your hands. You yelled at them as they had walked away laughing. You wanted desperately to throw them down the stairs with your powers, but you calmed yourself before acting rashly, knowing you probably would have miscalculated and fatally hurt one of them…as if they didn’t deserve it!
But before you could work yourself back up again, your classmate Taehyung came and picked up your books for you, apologizing on their behalf.
God, you wish you could remember more. When you thought more about that day, you only remembered how Namjoon came bounding to you, worriedly looked you over, vowing to tell the teachers, which only made you hit him with your books before making him promise to let it go, cause no one liked a snitch!
Taehyung’s hand firm against your cheek brought your thoughts back into the moment, to his face so close to yours and his determined eyes staring down at you. You tried to find another memory, something to confirm his words, but you couldn’t. You felt glued to him in this moment, lost in his deep brown eyes, so pleadingly looking at you to believe him.
You feel so shocked you can’t move, even when his lips press against yours.
-FIVE DAYS LATER-
You and Jimin wore sunglasses and the same tight-fitted black suit, standing on both sides of the mind reader, you all really looked the part of Taehyung’s entourage.
“I’m not taking a bullet for that man,” you mutter under your breath at Yoongi, who pushes his sunglasses down to stare at you.
“I like you in a pant suit.”
“Yeah? Well cause I look better than all of you.”
“Not better than me!” Seokjin announces.
“That’s debatable,” Jimin laughs.
“Jimin, I would die for you!” You smile, and remembering security is supposed to be stoic, go back to glaring at anyone who looks in Taehyung’s direction.
There is so much controversy surrounding the bill now, every political figure is on high alert. Taehyung has to keep appearances, lest they suspect him.
“So what’s the tally now?” you ask Yoongi.
“He’s got one on a pretty damning domestic violence charge, his ex wife was all over social media accusing him, but RM finally got the DA to charge him...but he’s out on bail.”
“He can still work?!”
“Well yeah, he’s not convicted yet. Innocent until proven guilty!” Jin says sarcastically.
“What about the embezzlement guy?” Jimin asks. “The one all over the news now.”
“Oh we lost that one, looks you can beat your wife but not the feds.”
You groan. “And I guess I’m not allowed to hurt Mr. Wife Beater until the bill is passed?”
“Correct,” Taehyung says, looking over his shoulder at you. You roll your eyes.
“See you in a bit,” you whisper to Yoongi.
“See ya, don’t enjoy yourself too much,” he whispers back, hooking your pinkies together.
“Oh but I will,” you wink, teasing him before you, Jin, and Hoseok veer away from the group.
“I was kind of digging the pants suit,” you say as Hoseok hands you a backpack full of new clothes. The three of you are in one bathroom stall, changing into clothes that look less like security and more like Taehyung’s attire, a dress and suits fit for someone of elite status.
“If you peek I’ll know,” Jin says, unbuttoning his shirt.
You turn your back to him, doing the same. “Not interested,” you scoff.
“That’s a lie,” Jin says.
“Okay, human lie detector,” you groan, unbuttoning your pants.
Hoseok’s bare shoulder rubs against your naked body as he pulls on a new pair of pants.
“Hoseok, please control your thoughts,” Jin whines.
“What?” Hoseok squeaks as you step into your dress.
“Can you zip it up for me?” you turn around. Hoseok’s suit is white, a relaxed loose fit that looks perfect on him. Seokjin’s suit is devilishly red, buttoned tight around his waist, showing off his lean and tall frame. It makes perfect sense to you, their choices, an angel and devil, who would you choose to listen to tonight?
“W-Where are your clothes!”
“What do you mean?” you look down at your own dress, long, black and velvet, with sheer detailing, and a very very very high slit.
“It’s see through!”
“Whatever, it’s covering the important bits.” You fasten a diamond necklace around your neck and decide you will not be returning this ensemble to Taehyung at the end of the night. “Zip it!” Jin does it for you, teasingly slow, of course, that devil.
“Ready to play your parts?” Jin asks. You and Hoseok both nod and then you scatter into the crowd inside the art museum.
The life of the party. Hoseok chats everyone up, learning who is who, and who the important people are. Of course there is Mayor Kim tonight, a fan of art, visiting the city Museum during its charity event. There is a slew of socialites, daughters of rich men, flirting and offering Hoseok their thoughts on the artist. There is a high profile collector in attendance, and a lastly, a few lovers of art, who would have guessed?
The gaucho. Jin is loud, condescending, the worst kind of art critic. Oh, you haven’t heard of him? That sounds like a you problem. He’s the type that can sway a whole crowd with his views. A pat on the back, to look at the piece again, and suddenly they can see it too. He strategically thins the crowds around certain art pieces.
And you are, the provocateur.
“Joon!” The challenge. He looks cute, so out of place in his sweater and long coat, but somehow fitting in perfectly between the art pieces.
“Y/n, w-what are you doing here?”
“Oh, well...” you move to his side, hooking your arm under his, “I am...going to steal that,” you nod to the large art piece against the farthest wall.
Namjoon scans the area, seeing if anyone heard you. “You’re being serious?” he says in disbelief, “Are you insane? Do you think I’m going to let you?”
You lean against him. “No,” you smile. “I intend to steal it and get caught doing it. It’s a fake, Namjoon,“ you whisper, laughing, as if it were obvious.
“What?” he peers over at the painting, holding himself back from getting closer. “How can you tell?”
“Well you can’t really, that’s the point. Which I guess begs the question, what makes that one so worthless?”
“The original holds the artist’s idea...” You two walk around the room, looking at another art piece. “It just can’t be compared.”
“But, if the copy is flawless in every way, the effort it took to paint is still there...the brush strokes, the paint, the time, all add up. Yet the original is just...always better? You can’t even tell the difference!”
“The artist who painted it can tell.”
“The artist is dead, and you know what? I bet he couldn’t, I bet I could convince him that that one was the original, just like everyone else here is convinced.”
“Then it’s selling a lie.”
“So you agree then, I should take it? Expose the truth!” you tease.
“Where’s the real one?” Namjoon asks, ignoring your question with one of his own.
“Probably in some old guy’s home collecting dust and being used to launder money. Taehyung wants to expose the fake and the art gallery’s shady dealings, maybe even get the original back...”
“Why would he go to all this trouble?”
“That’s just his style,” you joke. “You should know by now. So will you let me steal it?”
“How do I know you just didn’t make all this up right now?”
You sigh. “I guess we can’t all have Jin’s assuredness, huh?”
“Yeah,” Namjoon frowns, watching the man in question walk to another painting with a large crowd in tow, ready to hear his thoughts on the next piece.
“Well, I’m still stealing it,” you declare. “But we have time until then, so want to show me around? Or leave me to my own evil devices?” you tease, “Or take me someplace where we can be alone?” you bite you lip, eyeing him up and down.
Namjoon swallows, trying to think of anything other than the way your body is so on display in your sheer dress, your curves rivaling the beauty of the three dimensional art pieces around you. He tries not to think about you in his arms, twisting you as he pleases, the translucent nylon stretching and showing more of you until he forgets to breathe. “Why do I get the feeling you are trying to distract me?”
“Well it’s true I want all your attention,” you stare at him, daring him to look away. “I have to remind you though, now that I told you, if you do let me steal it...you’ll be an accomplice.”
Namjoon laughs a little too loud and people stare at the pair of you.
“Joon...” you say softly, “I miss you.”
“You have lots of friends now to keep you company.” He fixes the gems of your necklace, fingers lingering on your cheek. “Which one of them stole this for you?”
You resist the urge to frown and roll your eyes, turning to the still life painting in front of you instead. “Go ahead and confiscate it if you want, might as well take the dress off of me too,” you challenge.
Namjoon drags you to the next art piece, defiantly silent.
“I hoped you might have felt the same,” you sigh, “I guess that’s stupid of me, to hope you missed me too.”
Namjoon clenches his jaw, eyes focused on the large painting. “You know how I feel about you-”
“I don’t know,” you argue, wanting to hear him say it.
“What I feel doesn’t matter, actions matter.”
Goddamn him. “I don’t want to argue with you tonight. Can’t we enjoy the art, like we used to?”
“The red lines in this painting, notice how you can follow through to this one, and this?”
You nod, holding his arm tighter. He pulls you closer to the last painting, turning your body to look at all three, so you can see how the overlapping lines connect across each piece. “Red for blood, representing the strings of fate.” Namjoon’s arm naturally wraps around your waist, his jaw against your cheek as he gently guides your eye line.
“You see all that?” you smile, you could listen to him pick apart art all day long.
Namjoon’s finger taps the plaque next to you, titled “Moirai.” The three fates. You tilt your head to look behind you, where his frame towers. His eyes sparkle with passion for the art. You think it’s the art, but your heart hopes it’s something more...
“I…want to kiss you so badly...”
Namjoon looks at you, his heart jumping in his chest-
“There you are! I was wondering where you went off to. You don't mind if I steal your friend away, right?”
Taehyung. This was not part of the plan!
Cameras are suddenly around you, a handful of photographers that have been shadowing The Mayor. Namjoon has no choice but to offer him a tight lipped smile, nodding. “She’s all yours, for now,” he adds under his breath.
Taehyung holds his hand out to you and you don’t miss a beat, placing your fingers in his palm. He kisses your knuckles and the cameras love it, a dozen flashes going off in unison.
“You look familiar. Have we met before?” Mayor Kim addresses Namjoon. Taehyung is clearly out for blood, playing coy and using his status against him.
“Namjoon is an art history expert,” you say proudly, “and he is a collector of art!”
“No I am not,” Namjoon mutters, ears reddening.
“You are!” you still remember how he saved up for months to buy a particular painting he adored. When he first moved in, you helped him frame all the drawings he has collected over the years. “His home looks like an art gallery.”
“Ahhh,” Taehyung fakes intrigue. “One more photo, guys!” He turns to the cameras, “Please, let me have some time to myself to enjoy...the art,” he grins in your direction.
Taehyung pulls you to his side, and you’re forced to fake a smile for the cameras, the flashes nearly blinding you. How does Taehyung do this all the time, and seem to enjoy it?
Taehyung smiles wide. His arm is over your shoulder, fingers tickling your arm. Cameras flash.
His arm moves lower, stopping around your waist. Flash. He quickly pulls you closer, turns his head and nuzzles your neck. Flash. You can’t help but giggle uncontrollably and cameras flash two times faster. Flash Flash Flash. You’re going to have to have a talk with Yoongi to make sure none of those photos end up online.
“She’s beautiful, isn’t she?” Taehyung says after photographers have scurried away. He peers over at Namjoon who has managed to keep himself from ripping Taehyung's arms off of you up until this point, his restraint now wavering to dangerous levels.
Namjoon nods in agreement, staring at you as you become increasingly more uncomfortable with whatever game Taehyung is playing. “Mayor Kim, have you been drinking?”
“Yes, there’s an open bar,” he reminds you, “but I am still more than capable of-” he turns to Namjoon, whispering, “stealing that painting.”
You step in between both men as Namjoon advances, running into Namjoon’s arms instead before The Mayor’s security descends. You hadn’t expected Namjoon to wrap his arms around you. “I would love that. I would love for you to try, instead of making my friend act like a criminal.”
Taehyung tilts his head at the pair of you, “It’s no act.”
“Joon, show me your favorite art piece here, will you?” You try to move the headstrong pair away from each other.
Namjoon looks between you and the Mayor. He can’t figure it out, the plan you have both concocted, and it is infuriating. “And what if I leave and take you with me right now.” He interlocks his arms around your frame, looking at you, testing your reaction. You want to tell him to take you, more than anything-
“Hmm I’d let you have her for tonight to keep you out of my hair.”
“Taehyung!” you hiss as Namjoon pushes against you to get closer to the Mayor, a huge mistake that has what’s left of his security coming to stop Joon. Why is he ruining his own goddamn plan?! Unless...
“Is there a problem, Sir?” Jimin speaks up, halting your argument. You glare at-
The mastermind. It was all Taehyung’s idea to do this. Even though Taehyung had an appreciation for the craftmanship of modern art, he despised the art scene, the overinflated prices, the elitism of it all, the very culture often being critiqued gathering together to inflate their own egos rather than to show any real appreciation for what it took to create such magnificence. Which is why Taehyung wanted to expose all of it for the sham it was. And, perhaps, get the real art piece somewhere where it will be appreciated, like in his study...
But the plan was to distract Namjoon while the others work to switch the original with a fake, not piss him off so much he was going to get you all kicked out before you could do anything!
There was something Taehyung was keeping from you...
Is there no honor amongst thieves?!
“Yes, Jimin, can you please escort Mr...Kim Namjoon, was it? Mr. Kim Namjoon out before he does something he regrets.”
“No. No!” You hold onto Namjoon. You didn’t want your time with him to be cut so short.
“Don’t make a scene, darling.” Taehyung pulls you to him quickly.
“You’re the one making a fucking scene,” you whisper, unwilling to part from Joon, wanting to cry at this unfair treatment. You knew how much Namjoon loved art and how much he wanted to be here.
Namjoon watched as you abated your breath and held in your tears, and the sight kept him from charging through security to get to Taehyung, even when the young politician put his arm around your shoulder arrogantly.
“I’ll be back…as RM,” he threatens.
“We’re counting on it,” Taehyung smiles.
-
“Why would you do that? We said he would stay!”
“He has to believe it. That’s the plan, right, my damsel?”
“He will,” you swallow, worried you’ve gone too far. No…this will work. Even though you have a sinking feeling in the pit of your stomach over Taehyung’s enthusiastic cooperation.
“And will you give me some damn space?” you threaten, acutely aware of how Taehyung has himself pressed up against you, leaning into you like a lover would.
He wraps his arms around your waist. “Do you have any idea how hot you look right now?”
“You really are drunk, aren’t you?”
Taehyung chuckles, head knocking into yours. “I want to kiss you.”
You look around, surprised no one has noticed his antics. “You’re going to kiss me? In front of all these people and cameras?” you laugh.
“No. Because,” he holds your waist tightly, “They don’t see us.” He moves you closer to a vase on display. You peer down at the shiny surface, your reflections missing. “They haven’t for awhile now.”
“Huh? Damn, I didn’t even notice.”
“It’s nice right? We could do anything we wanted, and they wouldn’t know.” He moves you further away from the crowds. “I could kiss you...I fuck you right here, and they wouldn’t be the wiser,” he teases, “That is...if you can keep quiet.” You wore the perfect outfit, his hand travels down to your exposed thigh.
“You drunken idiot.”
“If I kiss you, would you stop me?”
“Find out,” you challenge.
“The mission first.” He pulls away from you. You realize your hand had absentmindedly snaked its way around Taehyung’s neck when he removes it and places your palm on the wall next to you.
“You’re giving me mixed signals, Mayor.”
“Knock down all the paintings on this wall.”
You sigh, running your finger along the wall. “Fine.” The row of paintings fall when you point down earning frightened yelps from those in attendance who are closest.
“You could destroy this whole museum without even trying,” he whispers, shamelessly eyeing you up and down. “So fucking hot.”
Taehyung holds your shoulders, pushing you against the newly bare museum wall and then kisses you, devouring your lips so roughly your head knocks against it, hands wrapping back around your waist until you’re pressed so tightly together you’re melting into his embrace and Taehyung knows you’ve stopped thinking about your damned superhero.
The remaining three walls suddenly become bare when Taehyung presses his knee up between your legs. “Shit,” you manage to calm yourself down as the Museum’s curator goes into hysterics.
Taehyung doesn’t seem to mind, his head buried in your neck. Everyone is ushered into the adjoining room. “We should help,” you stutter.
“They got it handled, isn’t this more fun?”
Once the room is cleared, only staff remain, frantically trying to figure out what to do. That’s when you see him, the wide eyed teleporter in a fancy black suit similar to other staff members. He works quickly and discreetly, switching out real paintings with fakes. Everyone was so tense and focused on their task, no one even noticed the slight changes in his stance. You watched mesmerized, watching Jungkook work was like watching a video skipping frames, a real time glitch in person.
“How many originals are you taking?”
“What if I took all of them?” he smirks.
You roll your eyes. It is true that there have been shady dealings, but Taehyung hadn’t quite figured out which paintings were fakes, his solution? Steal them all, make them all forgeries.
“He’s lurking outside of the South entrance.” You can feel Namjoon, it is…nice to think about him. Sometimes you wonder if he can sense when you do this, if he can feel your presence as if you were holding him. “Now?” you ask Taehyung, ready for action.
“No, change of plans-”
“What?” you hiss.
“Relax, you’ll still get what you want-”
“You know I don’t like being left out!”
“Ohoho, when you begged me to leave the others out of-”
You grab a nice chunk of Taehyung’s hair and yank. “That is different.”
“Yes, yes, it’s different...” You watch his Adam’s apple jump up as he swallows, his long neck outstetched and very enticing to lick, the sight makes you lessen your grip only slightly.
“What change?”
“Sorry love, we won’t be stealing anything-”
Taehyung has to be joking. You made a deal and if Taehyung goes back on it now, you’ll make him regret everything. “I have to get arrested-”
“Oh you definitely will.” You frown because he’s not making any sense.
“I know you hate it when we drag you into our politics. If I told you everything you were just going to be a brat about it,” he says. You blink, taking a deep breath, disappointed and annoyed. “It will still have the same effect! When they clean the paintings they’ll realize they are fakes.”
Huh? You groan, you reliaze exactly what Taehyung...no, V and the rest of those ecoterrorists want to do. “This new plan is fucking lame. You know this kind of shit goes right over people’s heads?” You have heard of this happening to other museums. Defacing art in the name of the environment definitely gets people talking, but you have to wonder if it actually changes minds?
“As long as they are talking about it, it keeps my clean energy proposal relevant, that’s what matters. If anything my proposal will look so much more reasonable in comparison, don't you think? Hoseok will do all the talking, you just have to make sure your aim hits.”
“I’m tired of being used as a pawn.” You glare at him, and then against his will, his fingers move of your own accord.
“Not a pawn,” Taehyung grunts, unsuccessfully fighting against your powers. “You’re a Queen…a Queen...”
“Queen huh,” Taehyung’s body goes rigid as he moves against his own will.
His head rests on your shoulder, then in between your breasts, moving down the front of your body, falling to his knees, head resting against your hip bone. This kind of tortuous play Taehyung could get used to.
You notice Mr. Art Critic and double agent 006 sense in the art curator’s ear, no doubt whispering persuasive white lies to further the plan along. Eventually you’ll move to the other room, where everyone left will be the perfect captive audience.
You could have sworn Seokjin looked right at you at one point, as if he can see you and his friend kneeling at your feet.
You lean against the wall, letting your anger subside. Eventually, you allow Taehyung to look up at you.
Sometimes you wondered who you were looking at, which version of Taehyung was staring back at you. This kind of occupation fractured people, or perhaps you all became broken that night in the forest, who you were supposed to be and who you became were shattered fragments held together by unimaginable power.
You run your hand through his hair, fixing the strands you messed up back in place. “You’re very frustrating.”
“Have I ever not given you what you wanted? This plan will work, you’ll get your white knight back as a black knight.”
You swallow, your will to fight against Taehyung diminishing less and less until you let go of your mind hold on him all together.
This little plan of yours might be drastic, but the gentle approach when dealing with RM never works. But unlike Taehyung, you don’t need Namjoon to turn dark, just...understand you. You can do this, play this game you and Taehyung have set up. You just have to push Joon just a bit, but not let him be captured by your side. A Queen can move anywhere across the board after all, the Queen is more powerful than the King.
“You don’t have to stay on your knees,” you eye the very handsome man caressing your legs.
“We have plenty of time,” Taehyung’s lips graze your exposed thigh.
“Fuck,” you murmur, looking around. No one even looks in your direction. You look down at the man in between your legs, so willing to stay on his knees for you. You should focus on the mission. You need to make yourself available, but all you could focus on were the small electrical currents of pleasure caused by Taehyung’s slow and determined caresses.
His fingers are a shock to your system when he drags his hand under your dress, pressing into your heat suddenly.
This is the last time, the last time Taehyung will have any power over you.
You hoped.
---
“RM, hey! My kid’s a big fan, do you think I can get an autograph.”
“Err yeah sure, what’s going on-”
“Can I get an autograph too?”
“Did I say you could speak? Shut your goddamn mouth,” the officer yells at you and you pout, flinching when he reaches for you.
“What happened? The museum, there was an event, right?” Namjoon tries to remain calm, grabbing the officer’s attention again, purposely making sure he doesn’t touch you. Namjoon had been preoccupied, distracted by an accident that had nothing to do with your plans but worked in your favor, a family that needed urgent medical attention after a car crash, as RM was quicker than any ambulance and stronger than the jaws of life, he saved them just in time.
“These two lunatics crashed it.” He gestures to you and Hoseok, sitting handcuffed on the ground, your dress torn at the slit and across the collar at your resisted arrest and Hoseok with a busted lip. “Not only that, once they realized they were cornered they defaced everything with paint-”
“It was actually gazpacho,” you interject.
“Yeah yeah, and that’s called a felony charge,” he reminds you and you roll your eyes. “His name is Daniel, you can put Danny, he’d love that.” He hands Namjoon a piece of paper. “You can take this one,” he tells his partner, pointing at Hoseok, “I’ll take her in.”
The officer looks down at you, eyes zoning in on your cleavage, and Hoseok makes himself heavy on purpose when his partner grabs at him, unwilling to leave you alone. You try to wrap your legs around his calf when he is pulled away, neither of you able to grab on to each other with your hands handcuffed.
“Goddammit!” the officer yanks you up by the elbow causing you to cry out in pain. Namjoon holds you up, unable to stop himself from interfering.  “Don’t worry, RM, I got it handled,” the officer says, trying to grab you again. “That’s two counts resisting arrest already,” he yells in your ear,  “Do you want to add a third?!”
“Why yes, officer, I would,” you mock, trying to twist your arm out of his hold.
You scream as he pushes you against the side of his patrol car.
Namjoon’s chest feels tight, his teeth hurting from how hard he’s clenching his jaw.
Again RM steps in, “Shouldn’t you be more gentle on her-”
“She’s overreacting, these girls love to cry crocodile tears, don’t fall for it,” he dismisses. You cry louder, rattling the superhero to his core.
The officer shoves you in the back of his vehicle, slamming the door shut, and you stomp your heel into his window, cracking it on impact, something that should have been physically impossible to do on bullet proof glass, but remarkably easy with your powers.
“What the hell! Crazy bitch,” he mutters under his breath. “That's another charge! Vandalism to a police vehicle!” he bangs on the window with his fist, cursing.
“I should go with you, in case something goes wrong,” Namjoon hands back his hastily scribbled signature.
“What could go wrong?” he laughs. “Nah, it’s gonna take me some time,” Namjoon tries not to think the worst when the officer mumbles out a convoluted excuse, “Anyways, you can fly! What wouldn’t I give to be able to fly-”
“I’ll follow behind your car.”
“You don’t have to do that,” he says curtly. “Like I said, we’re good here, RM. You wouldn’t want people to suspect anything like tampering with police proceedings, right?” The officer makes it a point to emphasize his thinly veiled threat. You sit up when he starts the car, looking at the superhero with pleading eyes.
Of course Namjoon followed you.
The superhero stayed high in the air, right above the police cruiser.
Namjoon knew you could get out of this. So why weren’t you! You were really going to let yourself get caught just like you told him? Fuck, why were you letting it really happen?
Namjoon, an annual pass holder to the museum, had built a nice friendship with many of the older women curators as such a regular visitor. So they would sometimes offer him discounted tickets on nights like tonight where he could get to see newly curated artwork before the general public, an opportunity the art enthusiast could rarely pass up on, even if the tickets did cost a small fortune.
Namjoon had, however, not anticipated this kind of event would be taken over by V and he surely had not expected the sight of you. But you had a knack for dropping back into his life and leaving him reeling. You had a knack for confusing him too, making him question himself and his actions over and over again, and all those agonizing questions he had were about to be answered...
-
Namjoon tails the police cruiser turns down an alley, watching as the headlights turns off and the engine stops as he parks.
You could escape now, it would be the perfect time, Namjoon thinks. The driver door opens and the officer circles the vehicle, pulling out his firearm.
You need to escape, you have to. This wasn’t about the paintings anymore, this was wrong.
Jungkook was going to come, right? Hop you away from punishment like he always did. Where was he? Or any one of them?
They should be protecting you! Namjoon didn’t think he could despise V any more, but the fact that he couldn’t even properly safeguard you when his plans went awry made Namjoon’s blood boil.
Yet, he found himself desperately wishing Taehyung would reveal himself.
Right now. Right now!
Namjoon clenches his fist.
He watches as the officer opens the back door, pistol aimed right at you, crawling into the backseat and on top of you.
---
You wash Namjoon’s hands under cold water silently until the bleeding stops.
“I was going to kill him.”
“No, you weren’t,” you remind him, holding his hand as you work to heal his knuckles.
“If you hadn’t stopped me-”
“I didn’t do much,” you laugh solemnly.
“I should...turn myself in,” Namjoon says dejectedly.
“Are you crazy? So you can go to jail with every criminal you put away?! Everyone will know your identity, what if they go after your family- No, if you even dare try something so stupid, then I’ll…run a rampage in the city!” you threaten, serious even if it sounded ridiculous.
Namjoon looks up at you, eyes softening. “We have to tell the Chief of Police. They should know…what he was going to do to you…” Namjoon couldn’t even say it, disgusted all over again, his anger rising.
“You saved me before he did,” you mumble. “They protect their own, you know that,” you sigh, “If we do that I’ll just end up getting arrested again, probably by one of his friends. Don’t worry, Joon. Jin will get to him, alter his memories so we don’t have to deal with them again, he’s gotten pretty good at it.”
Seokjin...Namjoon felt a bitter taste in his mouth that it was Jin who was going to deal with that bastard and not himself. You can see the torment raging in his eyes.
“Why didn’t you...do something?”
You flick him on the forehead. “You know, if I didn’t have my powers-”
“You do, you do! You could have-”
“What? Escaped? Were you planning on capturing me to hand me over to the police yourself?” you try to lighten the mood.
Joon rests his head on your shoulder. “...I would have let you go.” Namjoon scoffs, sighing. “You...weaken me. I was going to kill him, I-I still...” Namjoon has to calm down, he has to be better. But all he could think about was seeing that officer over you, rage filling inside him so quickly he reacted before even thinking. He yanked the door off its hinges and grabbed the officer with all intent to stop him from ever doing that to anyone ever again.
There was so much blood.
You lean your head against his. “I’m sorry. The way things are…going against them, it doesn't make you a bad person. Sometimes justice is unlawful…”
Namjoon didn’t know what to say.
“Joon?”
“Yeah?”
You pause. “Now…can you try to understand…why…I…” you take a deep breath, “...why I killed The Mayor? He was going to do something…horrible to you. How could I not protect you? Can’t you forgive me? Please?”
“And everything else you’ve done since then?” Namjoon can’t meet your eyes, clenching his jaw.
“I admit, yes, I’ve made some…bad decisions since then. Killing the Mayor was not one of them.”
You admitted your wrongdoings, that was something Namjoon could cling to for now. “You can use my shower, to clean up.” he whispers, looking down at your torn dress. “I’ll bring you one of my shirts.”
“Can I ask a um favor?” You look around his small bathroom, thinking about the last time you had been in his home, feeling the pain in your chest become sharper.
“I don’t want him to be the last person who kissed me, so-” Namjoon pounds his fist on the bathroom sink, breaking the marble. “Yah!” You grab his hand again. “I just fixed your hand!”
He hugs you close to him, letting the scent of you calm him down. The smell of your hair, the remnants of your lotion, even the salty scent of your unwashed skin, he likes. He almost resists when you pull his head away, not wanting to stop breathing you in.
He looks into your pleading eyes, your awaiting lips, your abated breath, you have always been his weakness.
His mouth captures yours, letting his lips mold together with yours. You pull him in closer, wrapping your arms around his neck as he lifts you up into his arms.
“Don’t stop, please,” you say desperately, wrapping your legs around his torso, reaching for the shower curtain and pulling it open.
He steps inside the bath as you attempt to unzip the back of your torn dress. Namjoon lets you stand, helping you pull the tight dress off your shoulders. You run your lips across his neck, kissing his jaw, his cheek, any part of him you could reach, needing to leave your mark on him.
The water runs red as the showerhead washes the blood off RM’s suit. You reach around his back, removing the offending material. Namjoon kisses your exposed shoulder, the warm water relaxing his tense muscles. He wishes he could forget tonight and remember only this moment with you.
The more he touches you, the quicker the hopeless feeling in the pit of his stomach is replaced with a desperate ache to have you. Your soft moans extinguish the white hot anger inside of him, simmering it down so he can only feel the heat of your bodies, the steam of the shower and the wetness of your slick mixed with water.
He caresses your skin, memorizing the lines of your face and the fullness of your cheeks, the specks in your irises. It's been too long, he curses his forgetfulness.
“Joon?” you look at him worriedly, he looks like he’s about to cry, and you can’t be sure he wasn’t already, wondering if the shower water running down his face might be concealing his tears.
You should feel guilty, you should feel ashamed, but fuck...he’s here with you, you have him, Namjoon was what really made you feel less broken. But if you were breaking him in the process...Fuck, fuck! You’ll find a way to fix it!
He crashes his lips against yours once again, refusing to let you go until you’re both gasping for air.
You laugh when he slips, using your powers to catch him and press his body to yours.
He hikes up your leg, moving quickly, needy and desperate, with an urgency like he needs to prove something to you, to himself. He holds you too tight, ruts into you so hard, fingers digging into your legs painfully, crushing you against tile.
You grind your teeth, keeping your mewls silent as his thick cock stretches you out. He pulls you closer to him, thrusting in so deep and hard you know you’re going to be sore, and you want it to never end.
You hold onto his shoulders, nails digging into his back, hoping you’ll leave marks, something that will make him think of this moment and want you all over again.
You lean your head back, pull him in by the neck, leading his mouth to your throat, tightening against him when he sucks on the sensitive skin under your jaw.
It feels too good, it feels too right, you quiet your worries, you silence your doubts, hold him tighter.
He’s close, you can feel him swell inside you, his head bumping into yours as his rhythm picks up. You moan out his name encouragingly, wanting more.
You’re shivering and feverish all at once, chasing your release with him, goosebumps blooming over your wet skin, the aching inside your chest turning into molten lava, flowing straight down and spreading warmth across your stomach, the place your bodies connect throbbing until you can’t think straight.
You snap into a million burning sparks, all ignited by Namjoon.
He slips again, falling with you.
“You’re so clumsy,” you smile, holding your bodies up a few centimeters above Namjoon’s tub as the superhero catches his breath, head buried in your neck, his body tightly wrapped around yours.

“Y/n!” Seokjin runs to you first, “Are you okay?! What happened?!” He grabs your head, running through your thoughts.
“W-Well…” Aish, you did not want to remember all of that! And you felt a little embarrassed as the rest of the night replayed in your head. Seokjin doesn’t seem too angry or bothered, hugging you close.
“You weren’t there. And the scene we found was…” Jin falters, “troublesome.”
“Jin went a little ballistic,” Jungkook adds, hugging you next. “We all thought something terrible happened to you.”
“His thoughts…I could barely make sense of them, he seemed to have suffered some brain damage. I thought he…never mind.”
Hoseok hugs you next. He notices the bruises on your legs, “Shit, he fucking hurt you.”
“I’m fine! I’m fine,” you stutter, glancing over to Jin who stays quiet, thankfully not outing what really happened to you. “I’ll fix that, okay?” You wince at his busted lip. “Sorry for disappearing,” you say sheepishly, “Were you able to ‘change’ his mind?”
“Well, I don’t think he is going to be doing much on the police force…or much of anything.”
“Damn, what did you do?!”
Seokjin stays uncharacteristically silent. “The guy wouldn’t stop screaming, and Jin wouldn’t let go of him,” Jungkook speaks up. “Taehyung wants me to take you to him. He said as soon as you came back-”
“I can’t go right now. I have to heal Hoseok and also, I don't want to,” you add.
“She’s not going,” Yoongi says, holding your cheek as he looks you over. Jungkook has no choice but to relent.
“I’m fine, nothing actually happened-”
“I watched the cameras...the way RM reacted...Jin was pretty convinced-”
“You think I can’t handle some creep? There was no way he was going to get away with that, okay? So don’t look at me like that…please, it makes me feel pathetic,” you whine, running your hand over his furrowed brow.
“We have another problem,” Yoongi says, pulling your hand away.
He holds up his phone. “Oh what the fuck.”
“It’s every trending topic on local news.”
Fuck! You knew you forgot something. Pictures of Taehyung and you were reposted over and over, with headlines like, ‘The Mayor’s Mysterious New Girlfriend.’ Even pictures of you together at night looking at the lights…
Oh no…
Yoongi scrolls through blurry pictures of you kissing Taehyung.
Oh shit…
“Can’t you erase it?!”
“If it had been only one or two sites, maybe. Now that it's all over the net, it's impossible.”
“I am not ‘The Mayor’s girlfriend,’” you plead to Yoongi.
But it had always been the plan. Yoongi knew it had always been what Taehyung wanted, but it didn’t make it hurt any less. “You look good together.”
“No we don't! I can’t stand him, I don’t like him, Yoongi.” You wanted to say you liked him instead, but the words caught in your throat at his next question.
“And Namjoon?”
“What?”
“Where were you all night?”
You keep your mouth shut tightly, looking away.
“When Seokjin said Namjoon took you, I was relieved. After what happened to you, I knew you would want to be with Joon most of all. Still, I was hoping you might come back. I was hoping I could have been enough,” he holds your cheek one last time.
You want to scream and cry, ask Yoongi for forgiveness, but you knew you didn’t deserve it. Even ‘I’m sorry’ feels like a hollow gesture. “Don’t look at me like that,” he sighs, mustering up a smile, “It makes me feel pathetic.”

“When asked about the ‘new woman’ in his life, Mayor Kim acts impartial for the first time in his political career. Though, he hints they may be more than an item, adding next election there might be a first lady by his side.” You read the article to Taehyung, fuming. “Why in the hell would you say something like that? I am never going to be your girlfriend, in fact, I am beginning to despise you.” You want to throw your phone at Taehyung’s head.
Taehyung crosses his arms, leaning back on his office chair. “I just need you for a couple public appearances here and there, it’s not the end of the world to be seen with me, you know.”
“No-”
“You owe me,” he lowers his voice, anger contained to the few slowly spoken syllables.
“This is not what I had in mind,” you argue, surprised at his demeanor.
“No, but it is what I want. I gave you what you wanted, didn’t I? You even have my friends worrying about you. Did you enjoy all the attention?”
“Fuck you. It wasn’t like that.”
“I’m not judging! I’m impressed. Your twisted plan worked. You even turned me into the bad guy, everyone is still mad at me for what happened to you,” he says, clicking his tongue. For the first time in years Taehyung feels the tight bonds around his friendships loosening and he doesn’t like it at all.
Intentionally or not, you had weaved yourself in their lives, loosened the strings yourself. It was your fault and he was going to tie you to him one way or another, and he was going to make it suffocatingly tight, make you depend on him to breathe.
“You are the bad guy,” you whisper.
“Yeah…” he puts his hands in his pockets, looking down at you. “You’re really evil, then. Don’t you think we’d make the perfect pair?” It’s not in a teasing manner. He’s serious. He doesn’t shy away from you, only watches you slowly fall apart in front of him.
Tahyung’s happy encouraging smile makes your insides twist. You ruined a man. In your opinion, he dug his own grave, but you gave him the shovel, placed him atop his plot. But he did it! So why did you feel so dirty?
Were you really the evil one?
Taehyung thought so. The way he looks at you, relishing in the fact you did something so twisted, it makes your skin crawl. Maybe you were where you should be, in the dirt, in Taehyung’s arms.
“I changed the plan for you, y/n. I would do anything for you.”
“No...you knew this would happen, that’s why you let me go with Joon, right?” Fuck, it had been your idea, so why did it not feel like you had any control?
His lips on the crook of your neck made you feel helpless.
When Taehyung explained the plan to you, you saw an opportunity. Steal the paintings, get arrested, escape before reaching the police station. Taehyung told you Namjoon would be in attendance.
Taehyung wanted you to distract him. You resented becoming the decoy. You asked the question, “What if RM becomes my escape?” It intrigued Taehyung, so you continued. Taehyung hated RM’s annoying altruism, you also wanted Namjoon to make a selfish decision, one for you, two birds struck with one stone. “Find me a cop with a history...”
You were never in any real danger, you could have stopped him yourself easily, but you begged Taehyung to make sure the others left you alone. He made them believe it was his mistake, a miscommunication between him and you.
You knew Namjoon would free you if he had a good reason. Was it so bad to want him to see how not everything can be solved by the books? If he could just understand that, understand where you were coming from…
Hoseok was hurt because of you, you still feel guilty about it. Namjoon and Seokjin almost killed a man because of you! Sure, that man ultimately decided to abuse his power over you, but you egged him on in the back seat, did everything you could to make him snap. You wanted him to snap.
You wanted destruction.
And perhaps some part of you deep, deep down wanted Namjoon to kill for you like you did for him. You just missed him so damn much, felt so small and unsure of your place in his heart. But in the end you stopped him, you couldn’t let him become like you, ignoring that horribleness growing inside of you.
“Night events only,” you concede. Grabbing him by the collar, you add, “Don’t expect me to be on your damn campaign trail.”
V smirks. “That’s my girl.”

My brother dragged me to see Deadpool 3. Didn't like it very much. But some of the jokes were funny. Idk man. I'm so tired of multiverses and nothing really meaning anything and characters just getting sidelined/being told things and not shown. Have some heart ffs. Make me feel something. Ugh.

It's always so sad hearing about just how badly corporate meddling and lowered budgets and shortenings screw over SO many great stories for literally no reason, and we gotta be normal about it

The one good thing to come of your escapade was, unexpectedly, quite a plethora of entertaining tales designed to make you feel better. As it turned out, most of the boys had also been just as, if not more, stupid than you on occasion.
While your body was exhausted, and smiling pulled at the cuts on your face, you couldn’t help yourself. All of you would be in bed long after the sun rose at this rate, but right now you made no complaint as you fell back against the couch with laughter. Even Yoongi, the butt of the current story, bore a begrudging grin.
“I still can’t believe it!” Jimin cackled, falling over Yoongi’s lap dramatically. In all honesty, you didn’t know how he even managed to speak around his giggles, “those innocent people just wanted to have a fun night!”
“Most of them were innocent-”
“And the non-innocent among them were terrified when the disco lights got hijacked,” you deadpanned.
Yoongi rolled his eyes.
“I was in a bad mood.”
“You heard it here: don’t mess with our Yoongi, you can’t imagine what he’s capable of,” Jin teased.
“It’s less of an abuse of power than stopping an entire highway of traffic just so the Kan CEO couldn’t get away,” Yoongi responded, eyes pointedly fixing on Jimin.
Jimin’s head snapped up, surprised by the turn towards him. His hand tightened on V’s, but the next second he scoffed a laugh.
“He deserved it!”
“That’s the reason every time one of you makes a fool of yourself,” Jin smiled. “You can be stupid and they can still deserve it.”
His eyes flicked over to you, then. While embarrassment still washed over you, it gave way to a sheepish smile, your private response.
Sinking into the warmth of the squishy sofa, a smile laced your lips, not leaving, as your friends kept laughing and poking fun. The night went on, eyes beginning to droop and laughter growing sleepy.
They had welcomed you back with understanding. It was more than you could have hoped for, some hours ago fighting for your life in the cold.
This was your home. And the man who once wanted you gone had been the one to bring you back.
Jungkook hadn’t sat beside you. After the revelations you had shared in the bathroom, perhaps your both needed some reeling space. But you noticed his eyes on you from his spot opposite, and found your smile came easily.
Though he didn’t return it, he wasn’t cold. His expression unwavering, his brows were almost imperceptibly creased with intrigue.
You only let your body’s haze of exhaustion wash through you, not trying to read closer into his demeanour. Although you may not understand him half the time, you knew one thing for sure, and for tonight, that was enough.
He still wanted you here.
Tumblr media
Noise drenched the space, wrenching you from sleep. Even while your eyes were still opening, your body moved without you, getting your legs under you.
Covers thrown off, the relative cold shocked you fully to your senses before another crunch shook the very walls.
Suddenly very awake, your brain whizzed through the last dizzying seconds. And didn’t land very far from the initial, sleep-crazed and panicked conclusion that you were dying.
The crunch was interrupted before it even finished ringing out, by another noise, splintering through the air. An immense thud of something hitting the ground buzzed through the floorboards beneath your feet.
Heart hammering as if trying to match the cacophony assaulting you, you sprinted for the door. You threw it open and stopped dead.
Sudden, brilliant light assaulted you. Of course it was light; you had all stayed up far too late after yesterday. So much for a rest.
But the light didn’t come from the window.
It came from the gaping hole in the ceiling.
Hardly daring blink, you let your eyes strain in shock and staggered from your doorway. A chunk of rubble sat in the hall, between yours and the others’ bedrooms. Gaping, you looked to the chasm above you, beyond which was sky.
Just then, another movement drew you back to earth.
You had never seen Namjoon with bedhead before, your scrambled brain realised as you met eyes with your bewildered leader through a doorway.
And then darkness plummeted between you.
Thunder deafened you, and you were forced to jump back from a shower of debris. Beyond the caving of the roof, a roar rumbled. Not another sound of stone or brick; it was like an animal.
You readied your hands, the only thing you could do.
The wall of wreckage settled so high you could no longer see Namjoon. But the others must be awake, too. Whatever the hell was going on, you would take it together.
A shape loomed then in the open space, blocking out the sun. Before you could make out more than a silhouette, it stomped closer, the building shuddering beneath it. Dust rained down in the thin remaining streams of sunlight.
Then, all at once, it pounced through the hole it had opened, and was filling the air with its great roar.
Rubble cracked under its feet. The floor shook. The doors rattled – before the thing lashed out an immense arm, and the wood splintered like paper.
So it had arms. And legs, poised beneath it like a predator. And teeth.
Eyes adjusting, you honed in. You didn’t like what you saw.
Unfortunately, it saw you too.
The beast’s furry head twisted your way, fixing you with eyes you would never forget. Its jaws opened, and your power surged within you at the same moment it lunged-
Then shot sideways in a blur. It fell with the crunch of its own weight, a lump of masonry disintegrating around it.
Aborting your shot at the last second, you fell back against the wall, blindly throwing your arms up as claws slashed through the air inches from you in the fall. Bricks flew, slamming dents into plaster.
You stayed there, fixed in place, gasping. Not just because of the near-miss.
You knew this beast.
A blur and Jimin was in front of you, feet skidding to a halt among the dust and smithereens. Looking up at him in shock, you found his face hardened, nostrils flaring as he glared towards the creature.
He stuck a hand under your nose, but as you took it, a lumbering shape reappeared in the corner of your eye.
Clutching your hand tighter, Jimin stepped back.
The monster whizzed around, limbs flailing. Nothing it came into contact with could put up a fight; the tv sparked as talons sliced through the centre. It fell uselessly to the ground and burst into flames behind the creature, who drew to its full height. The glinting gaze was the same, unperturbed by Jimin’s rock-solid attack.
“What is that?” Jimin hissed in horror.
You could have answered, but shock had words sticking in your throat.
Everything moved at once, the monster leaping forwards again. It forced you and Jimin apart, both diving away from the vicious claws. Its bulk smashed against the wall, but it was already scrambling up, readying a new strike.
Crawling below the kitchen table on your elbows, you looked over your shoulder in time to see the eyes swivel straight to you again. Dread overflowed in your chest.
But it got no further.
An impact knocked its head sideways, though not off-balance this time. Merely a jolt, as if dodging a fly. Growling deep in its throat, it looked around.
At the same moment, you found the form streaking through the air which had struck it. Hobi.
Uncaring for the chairs you sent crashing to the floor, you shot up from your shelter and took aim. Your electric blue took out the arm that threatened your friend.
And so it was back on you.
Thundering steps pounded closer and you were backed into the wall. Another strong blast hit it square in the chest, but only served to anger him more. Every nerve screamed at you to dodge, flee sideways, but you squared your jaw and let him run at you.
Remembering what Kuyang had told you, you hoped the same weak spot still held true on Frank. You had never actually had to use it before.
“Y/N!”
Jin’s yell of your name threw you off, tearing your eyes from the spot on Frank’s head. Flooding over the pile of rubble came the rest of your team. Jin cocked a gun by his head. Your eyes darted between the monster and your friends, the world slowing for a breath.
“No…” you whispered. Frank was almost upon you.
Jin fired. The crack of a bullet made Frank turn, the sweet spot on his head now out of sight.
Cursing, you ducked as he made impact with the wall, apparently forgetting you were ever there. Scrambling clear of his reach, you found your feet. But Frank was already moving again.
Among the mass of matted hair, you saw the tail of a dart poking from his back. A tranquilizer. While a good idea, you knew that it wouldn’t knock Frank out by a long shot. He needed strong sedation, and a lot at that. Your lab wasn’t equipped for that.
All they had done was piss him off more. Your heart thundered along with Frank’s steps as he lunged for your friends.
With a sweep of his hand, V shot up a wall of purple flames. Frank bellowed and swiped at them, unfazed by the burn. Orange fire burned thicker your end of the room, spreading from the tv to the rug, and you leapt around it, firing at the monster’s back. Anything to keep him from your brothers.
Sure enough, Frank turned, but a new shape came at him. Your heart squeezed as Hobi flew so close by – near enough to the weak spot on his head, but he didn’t know about that. Among the crashing and roaring of fire and fighting, he would never hear you. Your comms were safely tucked away in a room downstairs. This was a fight you hadn’t seen coming.
Frank’s eyes locked onto the boy coming for him. Hobi landed a solid kick and whirled away, but Frank wasn’t giving up. A slash of talons followed.
“No!” you screamed, firing with precision into Frank’s eyes.
The creature stumbled, claws fumbling wildly, but it hadn’t been enough. Hope’s form dropped hard to the floor, rolling away. He stayed there, still on the floorboards.
Jimin marched closer, a hand raised, and Frank was slammed back into the wall. Jimin flung his arm down and Frank’s face was smashed on the rubble, dropping to his knees.
With the brief distraction as cover, you raced towards Hobi. Skidding to your knees in front of him, a breath punched out of you as you saw his eyes open.
“Shit, Hobi.”
Reaching out, you circled your arm around his shoulders and hauled him to sit with your help. You winced along with him, but you had to move. A long gash ran down his chest.
“I’m… okay,” he panted.
“Bullshit,” you spat.
A new holler from the beast had you whirling to look over your shoulder. Frank held Jimin in a gargantuan fist, raising him from the ground.
“Jimin!” you cried, but your voice was drowned out in Frank's roar, and the bursts of desperate rifle fire from Jin.
V had already leapt into action, murderous purple tinting his eyes as he brought flames up around the beast, swamping him. Jimin’s eyes still burned pink, despite his immobilisation. His brows drew down in focus, and a new piece crumbled from the roof onto the monster’s skull.
Though it stumbled, the creature didn’t even fall.
“We need to get out of here,” you hissed.
Though Hobi sagged against you, you felt him nod. Easing him to rest against the wall, you stood.
A silhouette darting through the flames emerged. You had never seen V like this. His expression was clouded with dark, wild anger and he leapt for Jimin, catching hold of Frank’s arm and swinging from it.
Blazing purple circled Frank’s flesh along every inch where V made contact.
An ear-splitting howl of pain and rage ripped from the monster’s throat. Throwing his arms to the side, he tossed both V and Jimin who came flying towards you. In mid-air, Jimin caught hold of V, curling around him before they both came tumbling to the ground at your feet.
Thrashing his immense arms, Frank blundered out of the column of fire, leaving it to eat up the building behind him.
Seeing Jimin and V untangling themselves, bruised but mobile, you stepped around them.
“Get out of here,” you told them with urgency, “take Hope.”
“Y/N-!”
Jimin called after you, but you were already starting forwards.
The only one left standing was Jin – where were the others? – so you had to put a stop to this before anyone else got hurt. Dashing forwards, you found Frank hadn’t made a target of you yet. He took his fury out on your house, which was quickly devolving into little more than wreckage.
A glance at Jin showed him backing away, to your relief. In the other direction, Hobi was sandwiched between Jimin and V, rushing between the violet flames to escape through the garage.
A booming roar brought you back to Frank.
The monster stomped his foot, gaping jaws wide and snarling as he lifted his arms. Claws dug into brick, tearing off a chuck of ceiling. You jumped as he sent it crashing to the ground in a fog of dust.
A wall of rubble was stacked in front of you, but Frank’s enormous foot cracked it easily as he stepped over it.
Red fire spat at your back, the heat immense. You couldn’t back up further.
Frank’s giant fist descended, grip circling a couch, the end of which was already flaming. He lifted it, flung it to the side. Removing it from his path as he advanced on you.
Below it, someone moved. Ducking underneath, heading straight for you. Next moment, the figure crashed against you, throwing you to the side with strong hands gripping your arms.
They flipped, taking the brunt of the fall to their back as you slid together among the debris.
Instantly, you were struggling against them, throwing the arms off. They let you go, and you struggled to your feet, rounding on them.
“Jungkook?”
He staggered up too, reaching for your arm.
“We need to go,” he panted, “we can’t fight it.”
“I can,” you protested, shaking him off.
But he sprung forwards, grabbing you. With a startled cry, you were twisted around. His arm caught your waist, yanking you against him, placing him closest to Frank to fire a golden beam at the claws which had swiped for you.
“I thought we went over this?” Jungkook’s voice was ragged in your ear.
A new pounce from Frank sent you both diving over the rubble. You landed hard on your elbows, Jungkook’s arm on your back.
“We did,” you gasped, scrambling to right yourself, eyes never resting between Jungkook’s confusion and the looming threat of Frank. “But I mean it this time. I know how- argh!”
Frank swept a forceful kick at the table. It cracked under the force, two halves shooting into the air to crash against the kitchen cabinets.
Dropping to the floor, you rolled away from the hunk of wood as it clattered back to earth between you and Jungkook.
In the haze of dancing flames and cascading dust, thick in the air, you met Jungkook’s eyes.
“Just trust me!” you shouted, the words wrenching deep from your chest. Your chest rose and fell sharply with exertion. Frank was running again. You had had too many chances already; this had to be the one.
With one last glance back at Jungkook, you found his eyes blazing. But with determination, not anger.
“Cover me?” you called.
A sharp nod was all you needed.
Not sparing any moment to doubt, you took off. Charged straight at the beast.
Just as you trusted he would, Jungkook rushed the other way, firing gold right into Frank’s heart. Its predatory eyes followed Jungkook, while its back turned to you.
Frantic heart spurring you on, you fixed your eyes on the spot you aimed for.
And jumped.
There was no way Frank didn’t feel the human landing bodily against his back. The moment you made contact, you grabbed on fiercely, anticipating the enraged lurch of his body as he tried to throw you off.
Dangling from his shoulder, you swung a leg up, securing around his neck.
Dazzling gold knocked a fist aimed for you off-course. Jungkook had your back. You couldn’t afford to spare any attention on where the next one would come from.
Reaching up, you grabbed onto Frank’s head, fingers closing around a bony ridge that lined his monstrous skull. He shook harshly, making you cling with your every muscle as your hand fumbled over his skin.
And then you pressed down. Scrubbing your hand back and forth, the effect was almost instant.
The shaking stopped. You didn’t. This patch should knock him out for at least half an hour, you remembered.
Then Frank dropped, his entire mass hitting the ground as one. You were thrown down with him, head jerking forwards and stopping inches from the floor.
There you stayed for a long second. Just panting in the sudden stillness.
At last, you rolled off the monster’s form, bracing your landing with hands against the ground. A bit shaky from the adrenaline crashing through you, you let yourself smile, and looked up.
The place was a mess. If only you could have got to Frank sooner, it need not have escalated like this. But you had no way of telling your friends not to get involved. At least you had done it now, although the place was left a disaster scene of fire and debris.
Trying your best to ignore the crackling flames, you looked up to the figure silhouetted in front of them.
Jungkook looked back at you in total shock. His slack face was painted with a shade of bewildered horror.
“What. The hell.” He said flatly.
Huffing a laugh, you finally pushed yourself to your feet and wiped your hands on your trousers.
And found yourself knocked back by a fierce hug. The shock alone nearly swept you off your feet. As it was, you kept your ground and blinked, startled, into Jungkook’s shoulder as his arms wrapped fast around you.
It was all you could do to get your arms to stop hovering, and tentatively hold him in return. Not to mention the effort it took to ignore the frightening soar of your heart under his touch. Surely he would feel it thumping against him, with how tight he gripped you in that moment.
“You’re crazy, you know that?” he half-laughed, stirring the hair above your ear.
Forcibly shutting your gaping mouth, you chuckled, face falling forwards against his shoulder.
“So you keep saying,” you replied wryly.
Finally, you summoned the courage to ease away from him. Honestly, you were a bit worried about the speed your heart was pumping the longer you touched, but it was strangely counter-intuitive to step out of his arms.
Jungkook found you with wide eyes, and slowly lowered his hands in a mirror of yours.
With an awkward laugh, you darted your gaze away.
“Kuyang made this guy,” you nodded down to the creature. Your eyes lingered the closed eyes and tantalising teeth that had always made you shudder back in your days at the lab. “We called him Frank.”
You weren’t sure Jungkook’s eyebrows could climb any higher.
“…Frank?”
“Yeah. Bit more fun than ‘Necrus X’, I suppose,” you shrugged, and stepped to Jungkook’s side.
He kept eyeing Frank.
“How long do we have?”
“He’ll wake up in around half an hour,” you told him.
His eyebrows pulled downwards a fraction, and he glanced around the space.
“How do we kill it?”
But your focus was distracted by a pitch floating through the air, growing closer. Looking up, you found your gaze on the empty hole torn in the roof.
Sirens.
People were arriving.
“Let’s not stick around to try.”
Jungkook seemed to agree with you, reaching for your hand in an instant. Then he was tugging you with him, towards the stairs leading underground to the training space. You never usually had to scale piles of rubble to get there, but the world did change very fast these days.
Near the peak of the mini-mountain, you took the chance to peer up through the cracks. Blue lights flashed somewhere near, and you had never heard so many people at once in this part of town.
Soon, Jungkook’s hand was urging you on, and you jogged down the stairs side-by-side.
“Looks like we’re busted,” you worried aloud.
Jungkook sighed, but it could have been from the exertion. Your feet met the training floor and you raced away together. He kept clutching your hand. Of course, you had expected him to let go the first chance he got, and yet you found yourself holding firmly in return. Must be the need for some kind of steady comfort after that fight. Right?
“Namjoon and Yoongi cleared us out,” Jungkook was saying. You had to force yourself to tune in, wresting your mind away from the ever-present warmth of his fingers around yours.
“I guess they’re prepared for something like this. They shut down all the tech, collected some documents. Destroyed some things too. It was almost like Namjoon was... ready for this? He told me to just get everyone out.”
“But how did they find us?” you frowned.
Turning down the corridor where Namjoon’s office lay, you saw Jungkook was right. The doors all stood open, nothing but darkness beyond.
Jungkook led you both to the end of the hall. You had never been here before, but somehow it hadn’t crossed your mind to question Jungkook about where you were going. He eased to a stop beside you then, unable to help a glance over his shoulder. Just in case.
“I don’t know,” he admitted, meeting your eyes. His shoulders slumped and he frowned to himself, shaking his head. “I mean, there was the car you saw tailing you guys. Maybe there were more. They tried again, or-”
There was no way either of you could know right now. It wouldn’t change anything.
Turning himself from that line of thought completely, Jungkook dropped your hand and approached the wall. You bit your tongue, your fingers retracting straight away at the lack of his warmth. It had felt strange, standing still and yet holding hands – no, not holding hands, but… grabbing. Out of necessity.
It just hadn’t crossed his mind to let go. You ignored the fact that once upon a time, it would have been the only thing either of you thought about until you could finally be rid of the other.
Shaking your head, you almost wiped your hand on your trousers. You stopped, for some reason, and just ran your thumb over your fingers instead.
In front of you, Jungkook reach for a fire extinguisher fixed to the wall. Raising your eyebrows, you prepared to tell him that the place really was past repairing, when he pushed down on it instead.
It moved, something clicking into place out of sight. In a blink, a square had emerged in the blank wall, and Jungkook pushed it out. A panel swung inwards, revealing empty space beyond.
Lifting a leg to swing inside, Jungkook turned to you with a smirk. It was your turn to be stunned.
“That sure is helpful,” you muttered, before starting forwards.
A bright laugh came from Jungkook as he hopped down into the passage.
“Namjoon-hyung really thought of everything.”
Humming your assent, you climbed through the opening. Jungkook secured the panel back into the wall. For a moment, you were submerged in total darkness, only sensing the click of your hiding place being concealed.
A weak light filtered to life above you after a few seconds of waiting. It illuminated Jungkook, who was looking up, clearly anticipating its arrival.
“Right.” He met your eyes, and swallowed. The space here was much thinner than outside, the walls forcing you nearer. “Let’s get moving.”
Nodding rapidly, you waited for him to turn and lead you on. Once his back was safely to you, you let out a breath, feeling your heart winding down in your chest. Some adrenaline trip you had been on, huh?
“Where are we going?” you asked, hurrying after him. Something about this place made you hush your voice, however illogical that was.
“It should get us a safe distance away,” Jungkook replied over his shoulder, “Namjoon had time to give me this. We’ll head to the coordinates he sends.”
The emergency lighting in the tunnel was sparse, and as you walked you fell through light and shade. Currently in a patch of darkness, you squinted to make out a small pager screen which Jungkook held up to show you.
So you carried on. With no idea where you were, or what was going on, you probably should have been freaking out a lot more. But right now, you had a direction. Somehow, following Jungkook eased your concern. You were glad he was the one with you...
Wow, that was something you shouldn’t admit out loud. You eyed the man in front of you, as if worried he could have read your thoughts. He only kept walking.
Eventually, the passage gave way to a set of industrial-looking metal stairs. Together, your footsteps clanged gently against the comfortable quiet.
At the top, you found a door made of thick metal. A grate set into it at eye-level let in the buzz of traffic beyond – and sirens.
Ahead of you, Jungkook peered through the small gaps, before stepping back to make way for you. He met your eyes with the same concern you felt. Was it safe for you out there? Looking down at yourself, you took in your attire. Neither of you were wearing anything particularly distinctive, having been surprised at home.
“Let’s not chance it,” Jungkook interrupted your thoughts, but you could hear the frustration concealed in his voice. Neither of you much fancied sitting around doing nothing at a time like this.
Better that than blowing the whole thing up by being hasty, though. You had learned that the hard way.
The passage widened, but not enough to sit face-to-face. So, agreeing with Jungkook, you joined him and sat at his side on the top step.
It was impossible not to feel his eyes on you. Or the weight of his arms from where he had hugged you, lingering like a phantom. Having him so close only teased what you had just felt, the gentle warmth where your shoulders brushed sending ripples over your skin.
“Your face,” Jungkook spoke, “it’s better.”
Swallowing, you lifted your head from the surface of your thoughts and back into his eyeline.
Sure enough, when you lifted a hand, there was no need for the trepidation in your fingertips. No pain returned your touch. The skin was totally smooth where Monsoon had broken it yesterday.
“This lifestyle does have some perks, then,” you shrugged.
Jungkook’s smile rewarded you.
“Hey, you wouldn’t change it for the world,” he retorted jokingly, elbow nudging your arm.
You gave a small chuckle, but it soon faded into a more distant smile.
“No,” you sighed. “I really wouldn’t.”
“That… that’s good.”
You had never really heard Jungkook fumble for his words like this before. Maybe his mind was elsewhere, like yours. Although ‘elsewhere’, in your case, was directly on him; you just couldn’t tell him that. Among all this chaos, it made no sense that he was the thing dominating your mind.
“Thank you for trusting me,” you offered into the newfound quiet.
Though Jungkook let the silence stretch out a little longer, one lone siren soaring through it, he found his voice eventually.
“I should have done it sooner.”
Turning to him fully, your heart threatened to burst again with the earnestness in his eyes.
“You did it at exactly the right time,” you shook your head, adamant, “and… it’s good to know I earned it. Just about, in any case.”
You couldn’t help the joke creeping in. Giving into your cowardice, you ducked with a self-depreciating laugh from the force of his gaze. A force all too soft for you to know what to do with. When he gave you fire, you could push back with something just as solid. But here, with his defences long abandoned, all you were met with was the terrifying prospect of falling right in.
“Hey!”
The hard edge that crept back into Jungkook's voice, surprising you with his ferocity, was almost a relief. But the spark in his eyes that trapped you in his stare wasn’t of anger. Something far from it.
“You’ve earned more than-”
His words choked off. It was only now you realised how breathless you were.
You were quickly giving in to the pull of his gravity, the words floating unsaid only dragging you in further.
Eclipsed by him as you were, you hardly registered the warbling siren that drew nearer outside, and passed by. All you could see was the way Jungkook’s eyes slipped treacherously downwards.
At the peak of the siren’s volume, he drew the smallest gasp, pushing himself away. Hands bracing on the step, he hovered, breathing harder now.
The way your heart lurched at the thought he might leave right now sealed your fate.
His eyes met yours with vaguely panicked apology. Before he even spoke, you had made up your mind.
“Sorry,” he breathed, “I shouldn’t-”
Some of the steely determination he always stirred up in you made itself known. You needed him to hear, to see how certain you were of this.
“I think you should.”
In one frozen moment, you saw the reservation flee from his eyes. Rising temptation replaced it. His own hunger terrified him, but yours matched it, always, since the beginning.
You felt the moment he gave in. Felt it in the fingertips on your jaw, the heat rushing through you- the lips on yours.
In one movement, Jungkook had allowed himself to fall, and fall he did. He surged towards you, taking your face between his hands, kissing you with a blistering urgency. The vigour in his movements drowned out all trace of caution, everything flung aside the instant you kissed him back.
He needed to feel you.
Your body sang against his, warmth erupting in your chest. Every move of his lips stirred it further. Supple, like the rest of him, their softness belied the power there which he had never hid from you.
You relished it, the exhilarating force making your head spin. And you gave back equal fire, too, grazing his lower lip with your teeth. It summoned an electric sound from his throat, a grunt that accompanied his hands roaming further, hungrily running down your back, tugging you onto him.
He tasted gold.
It was a taste you knew, from his powers when he had trained you, when he had rescued you- yet so tantalisingly new in the way he gave himself to you now, painting it in laves along your mouth.
His desperate sigh, ripped from his lungs, told you he was being ruined the same way you were from this kiss. And you weren’t ready for it to end. You had no idea how long you drank him in, surrendering like you had to no one else. Your world was lit only by the glow his every touch made bloom on your skin: his arms around you, his lips, his tongue pressing between them and making your eyes flutter back.
You had repelled each other for so long. Now, at last, you had given in to the magnetism, and you could no longer bear an inch of space between you.
Even as you split apart, panting hot across each other’s faces, you welcomed the way Jungkook kept you pressed flush against his chest. Dozens of times, you succumbed to each other’s pull again, lips colliding to indulge in a desperate one-more, becoming two and three and...
Each a brief, fruitless struggle to escape the force drawing you together.
It had been there all this time.
You drew back again, panting, in time to see a crackle of gold spark in Jungkook’s heavy-lidded eyes. It mingled with a jet of your own, reflected blue dancing with the gold in his iris.
Stiffening, you remembered all the times your power had turned him away. The way he had run from you when you last lost control. The dreadful truth he had told you last night, about what Bolt’s power had done.
But his hands only clawed over your sweater, dragging you nearer again as he stared up at you with such open eyes.
“Fuck,” his voice was raw, barely more than a ragged breath, “you were right, Y/N. They are beautiful. You’re beautiful.”
Every time, you never expected Jungkook to stun you more. Of course, he outdid himself at every turn, leaving you scrabbling for words again, as you were right now.
Eyes drinking in your gaping expression, his loosened into a grin. The lazy shift into a deep, breathy laugh was like the sun coming out. You refused to look away.
You couldn’t refuse when his arm tugged you back against his chest, though.
Flopping there with a breathless laugh of your own, you closed your eyes, pushed your face against his neck. The energy to question this, to resist what had been building, had abandoned you, and you were ready to accept it.
How could you not, when his touch made you feel like this? When you had proved yourselves to one another time and time over?
You realised it all now, as you listened to the mingled sounds of your breathing with Jungkook’s.
You realised something else, too.
The sirens had stopped.

The autopsy lab falls silent as everyone takes in the sight of the bodies, but your thoughts are circling around like a roundabout, gaining in speed with every turn while your gaze drifts back to Jungkook. His earlier joy has mellowed into a focused determination, the same look you’ve seen in him so many times before, but now, knowing you’ll be working side by side with him for the foreseeable future, it feels different—more intense, more charged, more dangerous.
You drag your eyes away, forcing yourself to focus, but even as Mr. Choi starts giving more detailed instructions about the cadavers, your mind keeps circling back to the same thought: how are you going to survive the next few months without losing your grip on the carefully maintained but broken facade you’ve still got somewhere in you?
The answer, as always, remains elusive, slipping through your fingers like water, leaving you with nothing but the cold certainty that this will be harder than any other project you’ve faced before. And yet, a small, treacherous part of you can’t help but look forward to it, to the chance to be near Jungkook, to see if whatever this is between you will grow or wither under the weight of the secret you carry.
As Mr. Choi's instructions continue to wash over you, you can't help but steal another side-glance at Jungkook. He's focused, his eyes still warm but clearer as he listens intently. The sight sends a pang through you—admiration, yes, but also a deep, gnawing worry. He’s everything you used to be and somehow to the outside world still are: open, kind, brilliant in a way that shines like the sun after a long night. What would he think if he knew the truth? If he knew about the nights you spent in darkness, longing to be bathed in the blood of the guilty, driven by a vengeance that had long since consumed you, rushing like heroine through your veins?
You take a deep breath, trying again to steady yourself. There’s no room for weakness now, not when you’re about to step into a new role for him—partner, confidant, equal. You can’t let your feelings for him, whatever they might be, get in the way. You have to be stronger than that, for both your sakes.
Mr. Choi finishes his speech with a final, ominous reminder about the importance of accuracy and thoroughness in your reports, his gaze lingering on each of you as if to drive the point home. Then, with a curt nod, he gives a go for the class, leaving you all to your thoughts and the quiet hum of the cooling units.
As the group begins to disperse for the assignment, gathering their materials and exchanging murmurs about it, you find yourself rooted to the spot, your mind still whirling with everything that’s just transpired in less then thirty minutes. It’s only when Jungkook’s warm hand touches your back, giving you a gentle push, that you’re pulled back to the present.
“Come on,” he smiles, his voice light, though you can sense the excitement in his tone. “Let’s get it, yeah?”
You nod still a little absentmindedly, allowing him to lead you to your designated body. Lost in your thoughts, you barely registered that Yoongi and Hope have already begun their examination, their movements synchronised like the ticking of a clock. A few feet away, Jennie and Taehyung are absorbed in their own conversation, voices hushed but animated as they discuss the immaculate condition of their cadaver’s skin, debating whether it had once belonged to a model or beauty influencer. Ben and Juan however stand frozen before their own table right beside yours, staring at their lifeless cadaver with wide, frightened eyes, unsure where to begin.
Taking a deep breath, the sterile, cleansing scent filling your lungs as you take your designated place beside the cold, metal dissection table, your eyes trained on the white cloth draped over your cadaver, hiding it still from view. You can feel Jungkook’s gaze on you, a silent question hanging in the air between you as he now stands tall on the other side of the dissection table.
“Ready?” he asks, his voice soft, almost hesitant as he slips his hands into the sterile gloves, the latex snapping softly against his skin, while you follow suit, your fingers sliding into the cold material as well.
You meet his eyes, offering a small, almost mechanical smile as you nod. “Ready.”
With a careful, almost reverent motion, Jungkook reaches out and lifts the cloth, revealing the body beneath. His movements are gentle, as if the man lying there might still feel something, as if he might stir awake at the slightest disturbance. You watch him with a detached curiosity, wondering why he bothers with such care. The man on the table is dead, a lifeless shell. Whatever humanity he once had is long gone. Would you have handled death as gentle as Jungkook does if you weren’t who you’ve become? You don’t dwell much on it, seeing no point in feeding into an alternative reality long forgotten.
The face of the man is revealed, his features slack in death, and something unfeeling and calculating clicks into place within you. There’s something familiar about him, something that triggers a buried memory. You shut down, pushing away the remnants of the smile you’d forced moments ago, your expression hardening as you’re consumed by the darkness that lurks within you.
It’s that darkness that seethes repeatedly in your mind that the man lying before you resembles the first man you ever killed. And it’s that same darkness that forces you with an iron grip around your throat to look back. You try to resist, suffocating the flicker, but it only burns brighter until you’re engulfed in the burning flames of your past.
The room was barely lit with a single desk lamp, the air suffocating your young airways with the acrid scent of cigarette smoke, walls stained with dampness, dark streaks creeping down like veins in a dying leaf. The sound of muffled cheers and shouts echoed through the small, grimy office, a space tucked away in the bowels of Seokjin’s underground fighting club.
Seokjin stood by the window, shoulders broad and imposing even if he wasn’t doing much but looking outside and smoking silently. His dress shirt rolled up to his elbows, revealing muscular forearms that hinted at his strength, occasionally flexing with every drag of his cigar. His black hair was sleeked back as usual, and his face—sharp, chiseled, almost inhumanly perfect—void of any emotions, trained to be a mask of cool animosity. He had a presence that commanded everyone's attention, fear, power, a dangerous allure that drew you in and held you captive years ago.
“He raped her,” Seokjin grumbled through the smoke slowly escaping his lips, his voice low, honeyed, yet laced with something so much more darker. His eyes, like shards of obsidian, glinted with malice as he glanced from the moonlight at you.
You shifted uneasily in your seat, the worn leather creaking beneath you, you were acutely aware of the dampness in the air, of the smoke curling from the ashtray on the desk, of Seokjin’s piercing gaze that seemed to strip you bare like it always did.
He continued then, his voice becoming more and more compelling, “So, for your plan to be fruitful, it’s time to learn how to capture a man much stronger and taller than you.”
“Right,” you responded, though your voice wavered with uncertainty. You knew he was right, but the prospect of what you have to do made your stomach churn and your heart scream.
Seokjin’s lips curled into a menacing smile, one that you’d grown familiar with during the time spent together. It was the kind of smile that promised pain and pleasure in equal measure, a smile that told you he saw you as something to be moulded, shaped, and honed into a weapon of his design. A trophy to be displayed, a beautiful raw diamond ready to be cut and polished into something lethal.
“Don’t worry, angel,” he murmured, his tone deceptively gentle as he stepped behind you, massaging your tensed shoulders with his cigar resting between his full, rosy lips. “My men and I will be nearby. If something goes wrong, I’ll be right behind you.”
The words were meant to be comforting, but the smile he sent your way twisted them into something else entirely. You nodded, swallowing your doubts and fear as you steeled yourself for what has to be done. You had no choice; you were too deep in and too close in being ready for your revenge.
Later that night, you found yourself standing in the shadows outside a small, nondescript grocery store while its neon sign flickered weakly in the foggy cool air. You watched your target—a middle-aged man with a weathered face and a gait that spoke of confidence, of someone who didn’t fear the dark nor what’s hiding in it. He paid for his groceries with a bored expression, and headed down a narrow, barely lit alley, all while oblivious of the predator lurking in the darkness, of the eyes that followed his every move.
You slipped into the shadows, your steps silent, your presence undetectable. You were like a wraith, moving fluidly through the night, your breath shallow, your heart racing, charged, pounding like a drum calling for war. Every muscle in your body was tense, ready to spring into action at the slightest provocation.
The man turned down another alley, this one narrower, darker, foggier, the perfect place for an ambush. You quickened your pace, your fingers tightening around the rough rope coiled in your hand.
When you were close enough, you struck.
Without warning, you lunged forward, the rope slicing through the air as you aimed to wrap it around his neck in a swift, decisive swing. But he was quicker than you’d anticipated, his instincts catching you off guard. He spun around just in time, his hand shooting out like a snake, his fingers clamping around your wrist in a punishing grip that restricted your arm, the muscles pulsating, signalling pain where you didn’t feel any. The force of his grip made you stumble, your balance faltering as you struggled to regain control.
Your mind raced, calculating your next move even as your body fought to keep up. The rope slipped from your grasp, useless now as you twisted your body, your free hand striking out towards his throat. The hit connected, and he grunted, his grip loosening just enough for you to wrench your wrist free. Your joint locked from the point of contact, but you pushed it aside, focusing on the man before you.
You circled him like a cat to its mouse, your eyes narrowed, every muscle in your body coiled tight with anticipation. He was bigger, stronger, his broad frame still towering over you despite his slouched form. You knew you had to be smarter, faster—use his size against him. With a growl, he lunged at you, his massive arms swinging in a wide arc meant to take you down in one blow, but you were quicker this time, slipping under his arm without a second thought.
Turning, you landed a swift kick to the side of his knee, your foot connecting with a satisfying crunch. He staggered, his leg buckling slightly, but he didn’t go down, his resilience unnerving, his strength seemingly undiminished by the hit. He growled, a low, guttural sound, and you saw the flash of anger in his eyes. He was done playing games.
But so were you.
Before you could fully react, he charged, his body flashing before your eyes as he slammed into you with the force of a freight train. The impact knocked the breath from your lungs, sending you crashing into the brick wall behind, the rough surface scraping against the skin on your back, but you barely registered the blood seeping through your shirt. You ducked just in time to avoid his fist, which smashed into the wall where your head had been a split second earlier, leaving dust raining down the brick wall.
Blood roared in your ears as you ducked and weaved, dodging his powerful blows by inches. He was relentless, each punch fuelled by aggression, each missed hit only making him more furious and faster. His fist finally connected with your ribs, a sickening crunch echoing through the alley as air rushed again out of your lungs. You gasped, your vision blurring momentarily, but you couldn’t afford to stop, not when you had the advantage of not feeling the damage he has done to you. Another punch grazed your jaw, the force sending you spinning to the ground like a puppet.
Your lip split open then, the taste of copper pooling in your mouth as you hit the cold pavement. He hovered over you, his shadow silhouetting against the faint light. Desperation crashed through you, adrenaline drowning out any other thought as you rolled to the side just as his boot came down where your head had been. You scrambled to your feet, ignoring your locked muscles and the numb throbbing in your side, the blood dripping from your mouth.
You feigned a retreat, backing away to lure him in. He took the bait, rushing at you with all the ferocity of a wild animal, too dumb to think clearly but only on instincts. But you were ready. As he closed the distance, you sidestepped at the last moment, using his momentum against him. Grabbing the rope again, this time with both hands, you swung it over his head, catching him around the neck as he stumbled past you.
His hands flew to the rope, trying to pull it away, but you were already behind him, tightening the noose with every ounce of strength you had left. He thrashed, his body convulsing as he tried to shake you off, but you held on, your grip like an vice, your mind focused solely on bringing him down and capturing him.
He swung his arm back, his elbow connecting with your side, right where he’d punched you earlier, but it didn’t faze you the slightest. You twisted the rope tighter, using his own weight to pull him off balance. His breaths came in ragged, desperate gasps, the sound like a wild animal caught in a trap with nowhere to escape.
He managed to land another hit by pure luck, his fist slamming into your shoulder, but his movements were growing weaker, more desperate. You felt the rope digging into your palms, the coarse fibres cutting into your skin. Ignoring the blood tickling down from your hands to your elbows, you twisted only harder, faster. His struggles slowed, his movements becoming jerky, uncoordinated.
“KILL HIM!” Seokjin’s voice boomed from the shadows, echoing around you from wall to wall.
“I CAN’T!” You screamed back, the severity of the situation and the order settling into every pore.
“I said, KILL HIM! You won’t be able to kill anyone else if you haven’t done it before!”
Sweat dripped down your face, mixing with the blood trickling from your lip. You knew Seokjin was right—he was always right—but the truth of it twisted something deep inside you, making you want to cry, to run, to abandon it all and disappear forever and never look back. But you couldn’t. And you wouldn’t. The muscles in your arms protested from the effort, your joints locking even further in protest, but you didn’t stop. The man’s resistance finally began to fade, his hands falling limp at his sides. With one last, desperate gasp, his body went slack, collapsing to the ground with a heavy thud.
You stood over him, panting, spent, your breath coming in ragged bursts mixing with the fog engulfing the whole scene. Bending down, you grabbed him by his head with both of your small bloodied hands, and with one forceful move, turned it sideways until his neck broke. Your vision swam as the adrenaline began to wear off, the numb pressure in your ribs and shoulder intensifying with a vengeance, making moving hard. You were battered, bruised, bloodied, but you’d done it. The man lay dead at your feet, the rope still wound tightly around his broken neck.
The night was silent once more, the sounds of your struggle already fading into the darkness. You swallowed hard, trying to steady your breathing and keep the tears at bay as you wiped the blood from your split lip. The victory felt hollow, the darkness that followed after a kill creeping into your mind, suffocating your weeping heart and soul.
Then, from the shadows, Seokjin finally emerged, his face lit by the pure joy he felt seeing you kill for him. He surveyed the scene with a sparkling gaze, as if he was gifted the most precious present in the world.
“Well done, angel,” he nearly cheered, his voice dripping with wicked pride.
You nodded, but there was no triumph in your heart, only the echo of violence and the chill of the night. The darkness within you had grown, fed by the blood spilled, the life taken. As you stood there, the rope and body to your feet, you couldn’t help but wonder how much more of your soul you’d have to sacrifice before it was all over.
The memory fades, leaving you indifferent and withdrawn as you stare down at the body on the autopsy table. The resemblance to the man you’d killed all those years ago is uncanny, but you push the thought aside, knowing better than to let it distract you.
Jungkook, unaware of the dark thoughts swirling in your mind, begins reading the personal information from the file in his hand. “Beomseok is a forty-year-old male, found deceased in his apartment. No signs of forced entry, cause of death undetermined. He had three children, two daughters and a son. All go to college. His wife is thirty-seven years old, her name is…”
“Jungkook?” you interrupt, your voice cold, devoid of any warmth.
He looks up at you, his eyes wide with curiosity, maybe even a touch of concern. “Hm?”
“I don’t care,” you say flatly, cutting him off. The look on his face tells you that your tone has caught him off guard. He’s never seen you this detached before, this devoid of the kindness you usually radiate.
He hesitates, searching your face for an explanation, but finds none. “Okay, yeah, right,” he finally says, his voice tinged with confusion, not knowing what to do or say. He quickly sets aside the clipboard, his demeanour shifting as he realises you’re not in the mood for personal talk.
You step closer to the body, your gaze clinical as you begin the external examination. “Let’s just begin.”
Jungkook nods, following your lead as you start with a careful inspection of the outer appearance.
You begin with the hands, lifting them to examine the nails, the skin, the joints. “No signs of defensive wounds,” you note, your voice steady as you turn the hand over, checking the palms. “No calluses either. He didn’t do much manual labor.”
“Right,” Jungkook agrees, leaning in to inspect the hands himself. “His skin is smooth, well-maintained. Maybe he had an office job, something that didn’t require much physical work.”
You move on to the arms, examining the veins, the muscle tone. “The veins are collapsed, consistent with post-mortem changes. No track marks, no signs of intravenous drug use.”
Jungkook nods, jotting down notes as you speak. “Skin turgor is decreased, typical of someone who’s been dead for at least twenty-four hours. No petechiae on the conjunctiva, so it’s unlikely he was strangled.”
You shift your attention to the torso, running your fingers along the chest, feeling for any abnormalities beneath the surface. “No broken ribs, no bruising. The sternum is intact.”
Jungkook mirrors your actions, his touch gentle as he presses down on the abdomen. “No distension. Rigor mortis is fully locked in the limbs, but I think it’s starting to resolve soon. Livor mortis is fixed, so he’s been dead for several hours.”
“Skin shows no significant lesions,” you add, your voice detached as you lift the man’s head to check the scalp. “No signs of blunt force trauma to the head…nor neck.”
Jungkook watches you carefully, his brow furrowed. He can tell something is off, that you’re more distant than usual, but he doesn’t press the issue. Instead, he continues with the examination, his voice softer now. “The pupils are fixed and dilated, no signs of hemorrhage in the sclera.”
You nod, acknowledging his words as you move to the legs, checking for any signs of injury or abnormality. “No edema, no signs of deep vein thrombosis. He was healthy, at least externally.”
“Initial external examination of the front shows no obvious signs of trauma,” Jungkook summarises for you to write down. “No petechial haemorrhages, no contusions, no lacerations… he looks peaceful, doesn’t he?”
You don’t answer, your attention focused on your notes, but still noticing Jungkook watching you closely, his gaze following the movement of your pen.
“He does,” you finally reply. “But looks can be deceiving.”
Jungkook glances at you, a faint smile tugging at his lips as he tries to lighten the atmosphere. “Always the pragmatist, aren’t you?”
You give him a brief nod, not meeting his eyes. Instead, you focus on jotting down the notes and handing him the clipboard.
"Let's continue with its back."
"His," Jungkook interjects, his gaze surprised, stunned even, tinged with a light sheen of anger. You can see in his eyes that he doesn’t comprehend this detachment of yours, and perhaps he never will. So you pull back, meeting him not just halfway, but where he stands, knowing it’s a small concession you’re willing to make. And at the and of the day, it truly doesn’t matter to you.
"His back," you correct, watching as his expression shifts again, returning to his default warmth and care.
Jungkook gently shifts the body on the table, his movements careful, almost reverent, as if not wanting to disturb whatever peace the dead might still hold. "Let’s see your back," he whispered softly, his voice low with a subtle mix of respect and anticipation. You look on, switching your eyes from Jungkook to the body. It’s remarkable how respectfully he handles the dead, his personality still deeply ingrained and showing despite this environment.
It triggers something deep within you, your kind self clawing and pounding against the locked doors of your mind, desperate to break free, to surface and take control again. But you push it back with a force that betrays your fear, making certain the locks are secure, fastened tightly so that part of you never escapes when it’s not needed.
The body rolls onto its front with a muted thud, and you both fall into a practiced rhythm, your mind secured into that distant space where emotions need to be  locked away.
"The scapulae are intact, no signs of trauma," Jungkook murmurs, his fingers gently tracing the bony ridges beneath the skin. The taut flesh stretches over the spine, the vertebrae visible like a faint chain beneath the surface of dead skin.
"Livor mortis is pronounced along the lower back," he continues, pointing out the purplish mottling that has settled, staining the skin in uneven patches. "Consistent with the body lying supine after death."
You nod, leaning in to inspect it more closely, your fingers gliding over the skin beside Jungkook’s, checking for anything out of place. "No signs of movement post-mortem," you add, your voice clinical.
You pause, catching a slight tremor in Jungkook’s voice, the faintest hint of something personal creeping through his professional exterior, but the flash in his eyes disappears as fast as his tremor. "I don’t see any indications of a struggle, no bruising or abrasions."
He nods, his eyes scanning the back with a careful intensity. "No obvious signs of external trauma," he echoes, his brow furrowing in concentration. "Time of death estimate aligns with the rigidity and the lividity. Likely around eight to ten hours ago."
Your fingers continue their examination, pausing at a small blemish—a freckle, now just another detail in the report. "The muscles are indeed stiff, rigor mortis fully set in as you said,“ you observe, your tone matter-of-fact, as if discussing a routine case of a textbook, though your mind is miles away. "This aligns with your estimate. The body’s been undisturbed."
Jungkook glances at you, a hint of curiosity in his eyes as he asks, "Do you ever wonder about who they were? What their life was like?"
You meet his gaze, the question hanging in the air like an unwanted intruder. A part of you wants to answer, to slip into the role of the person he knows, but the darker side of you has already taken over and doesn’t back down. "No," you state, your voice cold, dismissive. "It doesn’t matter now. We’re here to determine how they died, not who they were."
He blinks, surprised by the sharpness in your tone, but nods, accepting your words. "Right," he agrees, though there’s a hesitation there, a moment where you see the empathy in him, something you can’t afford.
Each question from Jungkook reverberates through the hollow chambers of your mind, calling again and again for the part of you that you’re trying so desperately to cage while handling death. His words are like keys, unlocking the doors you’ve bolted shut, making that lighter side of you stir and rise, stronger, louder, more insistent with every syllable he utters.
It’s a delicate dance, this push and pull within yourself, a balance you have to master if you are to navigate the semester by his side. You realise with a growing sense of dread and exhaustion that you must learn quickly—how to respond to him without slipping too far into the gentle persona he knows, for your own sake and mind, and without letting the killer within emerge fully from the shadows. The lines are beginning to blur, the edges of your dual selves bleeding into each other, and you wonder if and how long you can keep them separate.
Without a warning, a deafening slap echos through the room, the unmistakable sound of flesh meeting tile. Instinctively, you turn to find Ben and Juan standing helpless beside their dislodged cadaver, its lifeless body sprawled across the floor. The clumsy attempt to turn it had clearly gone awry in all its glory.
Jungkook, always quick to lend a hand, rounds your table, but you halt him with a firm, “Stop.” He freezes mid-way, eyes wide as he looks back to you, and the room stills. Everyone’s attention hovers on you, suspended in the silence as if waiting for some deeper explanation.
You break the tension, your voice the coldest it’s every been. “It’s their body. They need to learn how to handle it properly themselves—and if not, they should learn how to correct their mistakes.”
The words leave your mouth without hesitation, even though your lighter side inside you protests at the detachment. Jungkook, visibly taken aback, stares at you as though he’s seeing a stranger. Still, he returns to his place beside the table, not leaving his eyes stray from you as you  watch as Ben and Juan awkwardly manoeuvre their cadaver back onto the table.
Once everything resumes and you turn back, Jungkook leans in, his voice soft but filled with disbelief. “What was that? You always help. That wasn’t like you.”
You meet his gaze, your expression hard, impenetrable. “This isn’t a textbook, Jungkook. It’s a human body. If they can’t handle it, maybe they should reconsider their career.”
Jungkook stands there, visibly shaken by your words, mouth open, his brows furrowing as he wrestles with the dissonance between the person he thought he knew and the one now standing before him. Sensing the weight of his confusion, you steer him back to the project, eager to salvage him from the spiraling thoughts that threaten to cloud his mind and risk further questions.
"Let’s move on," you say, already stepping back from the body, the examination of the back complete anyway. "We’ve got a report to do as well."
Jungkook’s eyes linger on you for a moment, as if trying to read the thoughts behind your composed exterior. "Yeah," he says finally, his voice softening. "How about we grab some coffee? We can work on the report together."
You pause, the unexpected offer catching you off guard. But then you nod, forcing a smile that doesn’t quite reach your eyes.
"Sure," you say, already pushing the darker thoughts to the back of your mind. "Coffee sounds good."
You strip off your gloves with a smooth flick of your wrists, the latex snapping as it peels soaked with sweat away from your skin, the cadaver’s earthly remains now tucked into the cooler's sterile abyss. The faint metallic hiss of the door sealing shut behind goes unnoticed by you as you gather your belongings. Jungkook is at your side, silent but watching, his eyes following your movements with prying concern that he doesn’t bother to hide. As you both step into the corridor and finally onto the park, the oppressive air of the lab seems to lift like a spell, and when the afternoon sun greets your frozen skin, it is as though in an instant a switch is flipped inside you. The darkness within you recoils with a hiss, retreating like a vampire scorched by daylight. And it’s when you inhale deeply, that the warmth of the sun floods your senses with clarity, like fresh air filling a long-forgotten room.
Jungkook falls into step beside you, slowing his pace, though you notice his mind is still wrapped around the events of the past class. The two of you head towards the coffee shop on campus, a quiet cozy stroll that allows the tension of the lab to dissipate off your muscles. You glance over at him, catching his profile, the way his dark hair shifts in the light breeze while his arms swing softly with every step he takes. You’re the first to break the silence, sensing the need to soften the edges of your awkward interaction.
"How was your weekend, by the way?" you ask, keeping your tone light, as if the lab and its strange, unsettling energy was years behind you both.
Jungkook blinks at the question, almost as though he hadn’t expected it. „Huh?“
"I noticed your absence in the group," you try softly, gentle, like the way he knows you. "Even though you're mostly quiet, you're always… there, you know? Present. But you weren’t this weekend.“ The words linger for a while, your honesty catching him obviously off guard.
„Oh, it was good," a small smile tugs at his lips. "Spent it with my family. My brother came home from overseas, so it was a bit of a reunion."
You nod, your eyes sweeping over the campus as you walk the short distance, enjoying the moment with Jungkook to its fullest. His cheeks flush a faint shade of pink, but he masks it by pushing open the door to the coffee shop, holding it for you with an air of politeness that feels almost bashful. Inside, you step up to the counter and place your orders, the familiarity of the ritual, despite your friend group not being complete, settling your nerves entirely. You slide into a worn booth, Jungkook across from you, his gaze soft but still attentive as it always is.
And for the first hour, the two of you dive into the report, dissecting the details of the external autopsy while joking occasionally. As the work dwindles down, you lean back in your seat, stretching slightly mirroring Jungkook. With the weight of the first part of the report lifted, the conversation between you begins to shift into something lighter, more personal. It’s a natural transition, easy in a way you hadn’t expected after the tension of the lab or rather being alone with him. Jungkook talks about his family again—about his brother’s plans job, about the little traditions they’ve maintained. You find yourself smiling at the warmth in his voice, enjoying him having a complete, healthy and happy family.
"You know," you tease, a small smirk on your lips, "this feels a bit like a date, doesn’t it?"
Jungkook’s eyes widen slightly, his cheeks once again dusted with that faint blush. He shifts in his seat, chuckling nervously. "It could be… if you wanted it to be," he replies softly, eyes locked steadily onto yours, though there’s an unmistakable shyness in the way he looks at you, as if he’s bracing for rejection but daring to still hope.
For a moment, you falter. The thought lingers, hangs in the space between you, tantalising in its simplicity, but the weight of your split reality crashes against it like a tidal wave. You can’t afford to entertain such possibilities—at least, not now, not when your plan isn’t executed and completed. Your mind whirls with the implications, the future, the darkness still lurking inside you, waiting for night to fall again.
Instead of answering, you look down at your coffee, watching the way the light reflects off its surface, wondering what drove you to even tease him in the first place. It’s easier to ignore the undercurrent of feeling, to push it aside. But Jungkook, undeterred by your silence or just hoping to save what’s left, continues the conversation, his voice mellow despite not receiving an answer. And tt’s easy, this back-and-forth of conversation, the small confessions of likes and dislikes of mundane things, the simple joys of everyday life. Without you noticing, he’s peeling back layers with each sentence, not realising himself how dangerous it could be if he got too close.
His next question catches you off guard. "I never asked," he begins, his tone curious, light. "How did you get into medicine?"
You glance up, your heart stuttering in your chest. You should have seen this coming. Jungkook’s eyes are wide with expectation, with a yearning to know you, perhaps the you beneath the layers of control and masks. But you can’t give him that—not yet, not ever, if you can help it.
"Medicine?" You feign a thoughtful expression, playing dumb as if you hadn’t already anticipated where this conversation was headed.
"Yes… no, just generally. What brought you here?" His eyes are earnest, filled with the desire to understand.
It hits you, he wants to hear your story, wants to hear which arrows have pierced you, which made you bleed, sometimes less, sometimes until no blood was left. For a fleeting moment, you want to, you want to tell him all, offering the the broken pieces of your heart and soul up with trembling hands for him to take. You imagine him standing before you, fixing them how you know he’d be able to, letting him be the one, who fights your battles where you’re too weak to even protect yourself from the blows. To stand tall before you, so you finally can heal.
But it’s only a fleeting moment that passes like the seasons, and so you hide away and lie „I’ve always been fascinated by the human body. I guess it just seemed like a natural choice—to want to help people."
It’s the safest answer, the one that reveals nothing of the truth.
Jungkook looks at you for a long moment, as though he senses there’s more, but before he can press further, a sudden commotion draws your attention. A girl nearby stumbles, her books scattering across the floor in a chaotic mess and without hesitation, you rise from your seat, moving to help her gather them up.
„Here let me help,“ it’s instinctive, the part of you that seeks to protect and aid still very much alive despite it all.
"Thank you," the girl breathes, her voice filled with relief as you hand her the last of her papers. She smiles up at you, eyes shining with gratitude.
"You're welcome," you reply warmly, returning to your seat right after. Jungkook watches you, his expression caught somewhere between admiration and the newfound confusion. He doesn’t say anything for a moment, his gaze lingering on you as though he’s trying to piece together the contradictions you continue to present for the first time to him.
You settle back into the booth, your thoughts swirling again, but you catch sight of the setting sun and the time on your phone, and pack your things, briefly looking him in his dark eyes. „I have to go.“
Jungkook’s brow furrows slightly. "I thought we could grab dinner, maybe…?" His voice is hopeful, laced with a quiet plea which makes your heart squeeze on itself.
„I really can’t,“ you reply, the smile on your lips wavering. "I’ve got something to take care of." Before he can protest, you add quickly, "But another time! I’d love to…if you would still like to…“
„Of course!“ He stands with you without much thought. His hesitation is clear in the way his hands fidget at his sides, but after a short moment he steps closer, and for the first time, he pulls you into a hug. It’s brief, tentative, but warm, his arms wrapping around you with a gentleness that nearly breaks you in half.
You stiffen slightly but manage to return the gesture, pulling away quickly before the contact lingers too long. "Goodnight, Jungkook," you say, not meeting his eyes but offering him one last smile before turning on your heel and heading out the door.
The campus is quiet as you make your way back to your dorm, the sun now beginning to dip behind the horizon. And as the darkness creeps over your path, so too does the other side of you—the side that laughs menacingly within the corners of your mind, knowing that tonight, blood will be spilled. The first name on your list awaits, and nothing will stop you from striking.

Genre: superhero au, poly rlsp, Marvel Avengers au, comedy is the main genre
Summary: it's just a normal day as a superhero, a normal day of alien invasion, a normal day of close to death experience, a normal day of bickering during fight, a normal day at being manhandled by your seven superhero boyfriends.
Warning: there's mention of past traumas, talk of losses, angst, gore, talk about death and fight, a bit of sexual talks and reference, and absolute silly talks.
Side note: this is kind of an Avengers inspired oneshot that randomly popped up in my brain, there will be refrences to some of the Avengers related descriptions but it's brief so you don't have to a marvel fan. It's just pure out comfort fic for me.
Word count: 4.6k
There's a saying that even in the greatest of calamity there is a blessing hidden. Like one must face the worst of there fears to get back to the world with a renowned soul that breaths fire and knows how to tame the situation which would have been dier for the older self.
The blessing that came from the calamity also knows as the chitauri attack was that the world got their superheroes, who defeated the alien army lead by a mind controlled Loki.
Well it didn't exactly turned out good one would say but yeah..that might have worked to some point. Leave behind the normal consequences and as we all know War always leaves behind destruction, new problems and nightmares. Nightmares that can't be shaken off.
But some nightmares are actually good, like the unknown attack brought to face the potential threat of dealing with other worldly being which lead to the world in accepting their heroes for good.
The bangtengers like how yoongi aka iron man had suggested after some thought, the orginal plan by SHIELD was Avengers but yoongi said that the name should sound interesting something that would leave people saying cool.
Like they say what is kept in the name so everyone else agreed, what matters in actuality is the teams job and that typically shitty line that with great power comes great load of bullshit. So yeah it was pretty much normal superhero stuff.
As normal as a sudden attack by some alien jet..
"Remind me again what were you trying to do?" You can hear the mock in namjoon's tone through your intercom, as you ran full speed towards the purple alien guy and body smashed him. "I was just trying to communicate okay!" Yoongi defended himself as flew from top of you, you would have added in a comment but your mouth was currently busy in chanting a mind control spell on the alien, the familiar crimson light igniting from the tip of your fingers and tracing a wave pattern towards the guys brain which was disgustingly visible through that transparent skin of his, yikes!, It didn't take even a second before he was knocked unconscious with a painful grunt. Well if you got in this mess for yoongi wanting to game some information about aliens, you would rather be of help.
"Well they definitely don't want to talk." An almost panting hoseok ran past you making you look up in the direction he was heading, you raised in silent question to his run opening your mouth to ask him about the obvious rush in his features. Doing quick work of jumping back onto your feets, a sudden blast on the side hoseok just ran from turned your attention to the direction to see a visible struggling 95's duo who were currently trying to take down one of those gaint Hulk sized monster. Speaking of Hulk it's about damn time hoseok did some real work instead of keeping up the act of 'we can handle this without the big guy.'
You raised two of your fingers up in the air as the monster charged in taehyung's direction who visible braced himself for the upcoming damage but before the monster could smash your partner a red sheild of fog surrounded him, the monster looked just as confused as your friend who slowly turned in your direction to look at you with realisation, you just winked back before the fog surrounding the monster grew thicker and he started to choke, his hands came automatically to his throat strangling his own self before he vanished into thin air. "Where to this time?" Jimin's laugh following those words turned your attention to him to see him fighting against one of the kinds you just knocked unconscious, a smirk appeared on your face on realising what jimin was talking about.
when ever you teleported one of the opponents it was either an isolated island or a desert or antartica, once you had tried teleporting one of the attackers to some other planet but it had kinda backfired and like wisely you had found yourself unconscious with a headache that you could feel for three days straight. After that incident you mostly tried to play safe, the guys had been super worried about you after that one incident, so you had no choice on trying to expand the range of your power.
Your thought about saying wonderland but before you could even word out a single syllable your heart missed a beat , the ground trembled beneath your legs a visible vibration radiating from the ground making your blood run dry, the sudden shift in the wind made you look up to see a large spaceship almost the size of the SHEILD helli carrier roaring high in the sky. Honestly you were partially glad that you had already taken care of the civilians and that this area was already declared a war zone. But just because you were superheroes didn't mean you didn't value your life or the life of your friends, the thought of any of them getting hurt was not something you could afford, they were the family you as an orphan had the chance to have and you wouldn't let some shitty alien ruin it.
"you deserve a pat on the shoulder with a chair for this yoongi." The obvious irritation in jimin's voice made you want to laugh bitterly but you couldn't agree more with him, he was right, genius or not yoongi was a dumbass bitch. And someone needs to do something about that lab of his, "i swear tintan the moment I get home I am going to blow up that genius lab of yours." You finally let go of the little amount of patience you had developed in the last three years, rage wasn't something you wanted to get used to but right now the adrenaline rush felt all to familiar. The crinkling sound of glasses cracking and the view of all the windows of the building in front of you shattering had jimin and taehyung exchanging quick glances before they walked towards you, well jimin did walk taehyung used his speed ability and within the blink of an eye he was infront of you and within next blink he was hugging you trying to distract you from the situation. All the members knew that you had traumas, traumas of losing your family right in front of your eyes and the simplest idea of anyone dying was enough to let you be blinded by rage.
"Guys incoming from three o'clock." Jungkook's voice brought you back from being drowned by the enchanting trance of taehyung's hold, you pulled away slightly giving a quick nod to taehyung to let him know that you were okay, taehyung didn't seemed to trust your answer but he still reluctantly let you go before you both turned in the direction jungkook had just pointed out to you all as he came swinging from behind one the tall buildings, Spiderman webbed swing his way to where you three currently were.
"I will handle that." Namjoon's voice sounded almost out of breathe and you were already signalling to them that you will go help him,
"if you guys don't kill me after this, how about we go to that shawarma joint--"
"No! And whose to say you will make it out of here alive??" The obvious frustration in hoseok voice had you cackling as you ran past him this time, purposely bumping your shoulder in his who was currently standing infront of the pile of three unconscious or dead bodies, you could see the way he was about to rip of your head before he realised it was you not one of the guys messing with him.
You blew him a quick flying kiss distracting him enough that he didn't notice the crimson smoke typing around his feet like a rope before his legs were rugged from beneath him and with a girly scream hoseok was gone. You didn't stayed back to watch him turn into the big guy but knowing Hulk it would be three seconds before he would be jumping to your side and just at the count of the familiar shaking of the ground with the loud thud and the Hulk scream.
"Woah now who let pea brain sized green ass out?" Jin voice was followed by the sudden lifting of you from the ground, the transition was too fast for your brain to have proper time to react, you blinked looking at the ground becoming foreign to your figure as you were currently being held in the arms of none other than the lightning man of your group, "i warned you about this jin." You grumbled while you narrowed your eyes at him who winked at you totally unaffected, "I am just helping you." You knew there was a silent, 'but you must return the favour next time.' in that statement, that was enough for making you roll your eyes. The familiar crackling of thunder filling the already noisy environment as he leaned in and stole a quick kiss, his lips sealing your while you were trying to grumble out a protest.
"Fare trade." He whispered mischievously pulling away as you looked into that familiar black eyes of his, the look in them reminding you of Loki, they weren't blood related but the way you could see the traces of being siblings briefly in their action made you heart sink, "if you could put side that flirting not that there's any rush but we are in a bit of a pickel down here." The sarcasm in namjoon''s voice was so
Thick it made you internally cringe, you looked down to see him glaring right back at you both, the parental look in his eyes making you let out a sheepish grin before you saw that they were being cornered by aliens that were heading in there direction from every corner.
"Jin a thunder strike would be really kind of you." You commented turning your eyes from the crowd to the man infront of you, "as the lady wishes." The overly drawled words had you wanting to roll your eyes but you were grateful for the thunder nevertheless that fell down in circles a few inches away from namjoon, who jumped back in order to avoid the lighting knowing exactly well that it was on purpose hence the death glare in namjoon's direction was acceptable.
"Opps?" There's wasn't even a single ounce of guilt in Jin's tone as he lowered you both to the ground and the moment your feet touched the ground you were snatched from the between the men in a rush of wind, you were about to curse taehyung for the sudden counter but your words died down on your tounge when he came to a stop before jungkook who was currently trying to web an alien to the statue of some recognised public figure.
"20° angle jimin." Taehyung shouted as you both turned to see jimin struggling against a shit load of aliens, "fuck you yoongi." You hissed raising your hands in the air and letting the energy flow through you, "after this mission babygirl." Yoongi's unaffected remark only added to your words had your pissed mood doing a hundred and the energy flow just seemed even more powerful, you lifted your hands in the air and the aliens advancing in on you guys all froze in there spot. Jimin turned to you for signal and you didn't take even a second before nodding your head.
"I would recommend earplugs but I don't think we have that.." jimin trailed off just as taehyung speeded around handing everyone earplugs, since you were trying to hold back a whole shit load of aliens taehyung helped you with the earplug making sure to ask you if they were secure enough and once you nodded clearly not able to hear a single word he said, taehyung gave jimin a thumbs up who turned his back to you guys, you saw how his shoulders stiffened and you wanted to move forward and comfort him but you were currently holding back the aliens so that was kinda hard.
You waited for jimin to do his work, taehyung's warm hand around your waist kept you anchored to the awake world as you watched jimin with anticipated breathe, just like that you felt the pressure of the fight from the aliens that you were holding back reducing drastically, you eyes bouncing off from jimin's back to watch as the alien fought against their own people, the horror of them killing their own kind making you want to tremble and shut your eyes tight but you couldn't do that, you couldn't even look away as they pierced each other's body with their blade swords.
It was straight out bone chilling but you couldn't stop thinking about jimin, you knew what effect using his power to do this had on him but almost always he had to use them, it wasn't always sunshine to be a superhero.
The moment you saw jimin dropping to his knees you let the hold on the aliens go and rushed your way to jimin, "fuck yoongi for this." Jimin mumbled jokingly as you lowered yourself next to him, he sent you a half smile trying to hide the wobbling of his bottom lip, you smiled gently at him reaching forward and lacing your fingers with his trembling one's, "thanks for the offer jimin but y/n already booked me for the day." Both you and jimin rolled your eyes hearing yoongi's reply as you leaned in and placed a quick kiss on jimin's cheek.
"Umm guys there's more coming." Jungkook sounded so confused saying that and partially frustrated, you had to hold back a groan at the information as you helped jimin up, "ugh give me a fucking moment to breath." You heard taehyung growl through the intercom as you watched him speed past you both to help jungkook with the alien that was currently pinning him down, you could hear the distance sound of thunder in some distance from you probably a few buildings away and the familiar sound of yoongi's suit.
"Okay guys enough playing around let's get this shit done." You heard namjoon bark out as you sent a limping alien crushing straight into the hardware store. "Yoongi any free clearing for proper battle nearby?" Namjoon questioned as he appeared from behind the alley of one of the bookstores signalling you all to follow him.
"Two stores and a left." Yoongi's answer was brief as you all navigated your way to the clearing, it was weird that a bunch of superhero were walking the streets like a kid exploring his new neighbourhood. "Has anyone seen Hulk?" It didn't even take a second before the all too familiar shout filled the air turning all of your attention to the spaceship which was tilting oddly, you saw a few black dots falling from the ship knowing exactly well what they were.
"When did he even get there?" You questioned know one in particular, you were quite amused to see Hulk doing his work so well, and it wasn't just you who found it amusing because you could hear the thoughtful hum of the others who had also stopped walking and were right now looking at the spaceship being taken down single-handedly by hoseok.
"I am bringing party." Yoongi's urgent voice had all of you exchanging glances before everyone ran to where yoongi had asked you all to be, and true to his words yoongi was heading you way with a whole swarm of small alien jets chasing after him and on narrowing your eyes you saw that there was a crowd of them running your way too, "just what did you tell them yoongles." Jin's comment was really showing his curiousity, "atleast not that i am looking forward to banging their wives." Yoongi's comment had you all scoffing as everyone braced themselves for the fight.
"Bang it vengers!" Jungkook shouted from behind as he shoot his web on a near by tree and moved forward to strike at the aliens, "it was supposed to be assemble." You heard Jin complain as you all charged at the crowd, taking down as many as you could. "Remind me again to never let yoongi watch Bollywood movies." You commented as you kicked one of the aliens before sending them flying with a quick flick of your wrist, "hey! It was not the movie."
"Oh please you watch Krish and suddenly you wanna see if you could talk to aliens."
"Now that makes sense to me." Namjoon chimed in as his shield came flying to cut an alien throught that was advancing in on you from the side, you gave a quick nod before moving forward and letting your fingers lift up as the Hulk sized monster got raised in the air, "so is the shawarma plan still on?" Yoongi questioned as he flew down to stand beside you, blasting an alien advancing in on you, "what do you mean by still?, I never agreed to it in the first place." You calmly retorted side eyeing him before turning to deal with the Hulk alien who was struggling against your restrain of crimson fog, poor soul.
You heard the blasting of Yoongi's energy blasters, before the very usual series of wae's he uses to make you give in to his requests, "i don't see one good reason for you rejecting this offer." Yoongi challenged as he turned his whole attention towards you, the mask of his suit flying open to show that obvious pout on his lips, you rolled your eyes fighting away a smile. Scoffing you twirled your index finger in a circle the alien going full circles along with the direction of your fingers, "please I could give seven good reasons." You challenged back with a smug stare, risking a glance over you shoulder at the men behind you.
"Hey!"
"I don't see why I am being dragged in this!"
"What do you mean by I it should be we tae!"
"I didn't speak last time!"
"And I didn't even eat!"
You laughed at the way all the complains came flying your way while you guys combated against your opponents, yoongi knocking two of the aliens and blasting a hole through one of them, jin flying around striking thunderbolt and choking one of the Hulk sized alien, jimin taking down three of the aliens one knocked down with a punch to his gut while a knife was still slitting his throat open, the glint in his eyes was of pure menace, it was moments like this you could see the damage he got as an assassin. The other was still holding onto the blade that was pierced right at the top of his heart another was next to him with his dead eyes staring at you directly, his mouth agape as blood spilled from it.
"You know it's moments like this.." taehyung trailed off with a heavy breathless grunt snatching your attention away from jimin to taehyung who was currently visible just like a blur of monotoned blue and gray going around in zig zag followed by the fall of alien who he passed. You shook your head with a smile turning your attention back towards the aliens advancing towards you, you held your grounds against them going into hand to hand combat with one of them as you advanced towards them and striked him with your silver dagger that you always carried around.
"I rethink if I should have taken farming serious instead." Taehyung completed his statement while you kicked the alien in his shin turning a good 360 on your left heel and bringing your another feet to collide with the jaw of another of the alien on your side, you chuckled hearing taehyung's statement, "sounds fair to me." Namjoon chimed in agreement to taehyung's previous comment while you watched him fight one of the aliens, the whole Team was trying to take down the mess as quick as you could.
"Farming in the day coming home by evening and then spending the rest of my day with y/n and our kids." The dreamy tone of taehyung's voice made you laugh out in disbelief while you heard the other guys mutter out their agreements, "I don't get what I am doing in this 'regrets of my life' preach of yours." You snorted wipping your the blade of your dagger clean of the green blood with the khaki shirt of the alien.
"Come on love, you know what you are doing there." Taehyung smugly retorted back followed by the strong breeze of wind when he passed from beside you not forgetting to place a quick peak to your right cheek, you didn't fight back the smile instead restarting to bite the inside of your cheek, "you met me because of this whole SHEILD thing tae." You reasoned with him sighing exhausted with the whole fight thing.
"Oh don't be ridiculous, I would have met the love of my life one way or the other."
The series of ohhs from the guys had you rolling your eyes while you tore apart a few aliens with the flick of your fingers, "and I thought jimin was the best with words." You heard jungkook tease from behind you, turning around you came in face to face with him well a masked him, "wanna fly?" The suggestion sounded pleasing consider just how exhausted this whole fighting was making you feel, "you don't basically fly." That earned you a grunt but before jungkook retort or do something a loud thud sounded from inches behind you making you close your eyes and purse you lip as you waited for the next move.
"Dolls mine." You had to stop a surprised yelp when Hulk growled behind you, eyes shooting open to see Spiderman backing away with his hands raised in surrender, you turned around giving out a sheepish smile to Hulk while you did a timid way at a very pissed hoseok aka Hulk, you could hear an alien advancing on Hulk from the side but he didn't even move his eyes away from you as he punched the alien square in the face. You held back a hiss at the thud of the alien falling, "you tricked me." He grumbled advancing in on you as he started to get smaller in size the spandex material of his suit shrinking to get to hoseok's size.
"It's tripped not tricked." You corrected grinning innocently at hoseok who rolled his eyes pulling you in for a kiss, his lips crashing with yours while his arms circled around your waist, the sound of screams and bones drowned away with the feeling of hoseok's warmth around you, you were partially glad that hoseok was still in control of Hulk or let's just say it takes a lot more convincing and sweet talking to get Hulk to relax, not that he has ever tried to hurt you.
"Can you guys do this later, I have an assignment due tomorrow for goodness sake." Jungkook's complain came in from beside you both making you pull away from hoseok with a slight pant, eyes still fixed on his while your faces were inches apart, "you should be thankful you are so cute." Hoseok rasped giving you a pat on the small of your back before he pulled away turning to jungkook with a scowl adoring his features.
"We are almost done I guess." Jin spoke as he came down to stand beside you both, "shawarma--" "no yoongi we ain't going." You didn't miss a bit to disagree as pushed the boys away seeing namjoon struggling against a squad of aliens, his shield was thrown on a five feet distance from him while the aliens were holding him down, "give me one damn--"
"One, the last time we went there you tried to buy the shawarma place."
A red wave of energy sent the aliens flying away from namjoon and his shield was brought closer to him by another wave of red.
"Yes but-"
"Two Jin caused an almost short circuit."
"That was by mistake!"
"Happened none the less. Third namjoon broke a whole set of their new cutlery."
Namjoon sent you a sheepish smile before throwing his sheild at one of the alien coming from infront of him.
"That why I tried to buy the-"
"Four jimin feel down the chair thrice and later broke the chair blaming it was defaulted."
"It was defaulted!"
"Five taehyung went inside the diners kitchen which was a staff only area."
"I needed a spoon"
You huffed breathless as you took down another of the alien, just how many of those were in that wrecked ship.
"Six Hoseok left a Hulk sized whole in the diners wall."
"It was the other guy not me!"
"Seven jungkook tried to web the wall."
"I was trying to help!" Jungkook reasoned sounding whiny as you scoffed turning the neck of the alien that you had in chokehold on, the crack sound of bone followed by the spill of blood of his mouth signalled the death of him as you let him go, "yeah like I wouldn't have noticed the difference, i went to the restroom for like five minutes and you guys did a whole show in there." You scolded them walking to where they all were fighting the last of the remnants.
"Anyone wants anymore reasons?" You directed your question at yoongi as you kicked one of the alien advancing from behind him, "i would rather stay quite." Yoongi grunted throwing you a quick glance before he turned away punching an alien with all his might, or the suits might.
"Can we be quick i have an assignment on theoro dynamics to complete."
"Me too."
"What a coincidence!"
"We are literally in the same year, doing the same course, in the same uni kook."
"Oh excuse for being an optimistic on this shitty ocassion"
"Your are excused." You threw back no missing a beat as you threw one of the alien in his direction using your power while he moved out the way letting the alien strike against the concrete wall.
"Guys can't you be quick, i don't want to stay up late finishing that assignment." You whined dodging another extraterrestrial with a shield of your energy way in front of you.
"Who allowed the kids to tag along for this mission in the first place?" Namjoon sounded really curious and partially parent like with that tone but all you felt was annoyance.
"They would have sneaked in the jet even if we left them at h--"
"Jin.."
"What I am trying to say is that they are sneaky as fuck so--"
"I told you not to again"
"Okay fuck it, i told them about the mission." Jin shouted from behind you somewhere making you snicker as you heard the guys bickering over it, "i can't do this anymore." Jimin announced followed by taehyung piping in, "there not much I and yoongi will take care of this you guys can go back to base." Namjoon suggested giving jimin a quick glance who nodded his head.
You looked at the guys who started to leave one by one while the duo who agreed on staying back dealt with the last of your enemies, "i can sta--" you didn't get to complete the sentence when jimin came forward sweeping you off your feets and into his arms before he placed you on his shoulder.
"Hey this isn't fair." You protested squirming as he secured you with a hand on your waist, you could see hoseok and jungkook snickering looking at you.
"You ain't staying back angel."
"Nice ass sweetheart."
"Fuck you hoseok."
"Gladly."
"Aww not without me."
"Urghh you guys are insufferable."
"No we are bangtengers."
"Your humor sucks Jin."
"Not as good as you suck us off."
"I hate you guys."
"We love you princess."

V is for Villain 1/3
Tumblr media
What does it mean to be a villain? What does it really mean to be a vigilante? A vanquisher of evil or a victor for the good? Stories praise the fall of devils, cheer at the marvels of the virtuous, and forget the victorious tell a version conveniently veiling their own atrocities. Evilness was once the brightest star in heaven. And goodness, well, morality can so often be contentious. This time, there is the hero with the strength of a hundred men, there is the villain that can vanish his vulnerabilities in a very instant, and then there’s you.
Continuation to Your Friendly Neighborhood Superhero, RM. Superhero/Super Villain AU. Taehyung x y/n x Namjoon love triangle (or rhombus if you wanna count Yoongi :P)
Warnings: lots of backstory but it's cute, love-hate relationship, soft yandere tae, pda, eventual smut, unhinged y/n (will you forgive her?)
Word Count: 7.5k
---
“V, show yourself!” RM roars. He’s a terrifying sight, drenched from head to toe, wet hair pushed away from his eyes so his intimidating stare is perfectly seen, cape billowing in the storm. Lightning flashes and you see him clearly, Hoseok’s rain washing the blood away from his face and neck, a magnificently frightening sight that makes your stomach drop.
What are you supposed to do?! What is the right choice...
In RM’s mind, you’ve already chosen. You ran towards Taehyung and he gripped your hand, disapparating the pair of you. Taehyung’s fingers interlock with yours, squeezing tightly, keeping you and him invisible. Taehyung knows better, he knows you only did this to keep RM from hurting himself any further. You really are aggravating…Taehyung sighs, disappointed, his anger turning into an idea-
V laughs softly so only you can hear, grips your hand in a crushing vice, and then, doing the thing you least expected, he unveils himself and you…
“No....” you gasp, looking at him in disbelief.
“You’re going to have to make a real choice now, Love,” V whispers.
“It’s over. All of it.” RM says sternly. “No one else will die, except for you.” He looks directly at V.
‘Joon, no…’
You realize there was no other choice.
He had become too powerful…
You had to stop him…
You were going to have to kill him…
-22 WEEKS EARLIER-
“Mayor Kim, welcome!”
The frantic event coordinator ushers Taehyung and his staff through the tent, towards the stage. The rally is enormous, the sound of the crowd carries into the closed tent area causing everyone to yell their questions at Mayor Kim. Taehyung smiles, he never would have imagined this would be his life…
Most of his childhood he just wanted to be invisible. Until it really happened…
-ACTIVATION-
“What the hell is that?!” Jimin points at the green orb in the sky, barreling straight for the trio.
“...Run!” Jungkook yells, sprinting away from the ominous object.
Jimin curses, running after his friend, Taehyung turning and following quickly behind.
Everything starts to become illuminated in a sickly green color and Taehyung dares a look behind him as the meteor descends past the skyline down into the forest.
‘What is that thing?!’ Taehyung could feel it, an intense aura that surrounded everything in sight. It dashed through the forest enveloping everything and everyone.
The trio was hit first. Then the two oldest, Yoongi and Seokjin who were on the other side of the forest. Seokjin was trying to convince his younger friend to stop coming to school late, Yoongi’s grades were going to suffer! he said.
Yoongi, who whined that Seokjin wasn’t exactly helping the problem dragging him all the way out into the forest late at night when he should be sleeping, saw the orb, heard the crash, and didn’t get any sleep for the rest of the night as the effects hit him and Seokjin almost immediately.
You and Namjoon were far enough away to only notice the odd green falling star in the sky. The trees ruffling back and forth could be mistaken for the wind at that point, you were too engrossed in each other to pay too much attention to what was passing over you and through you anyways.
The effects of the meteor even hit the outskirts of the forest, right into a scared young Hoseok who had been desperately biking away from the green glowing sight. That was the start of everything. A shift happened and now you all were on a collision course much much larger and much more destructive than just a bus inside a courtroom. And there would be casualties. But this isn’t their story, or even your story. This is a story about Taehyung, when Taehyung became V.
---
The crowd is even louder now so close to speech time. It didn’t matter if you supported Mayor Kim or not, everyone wanted to see the captivating politician speak. “Big crowd, eh? I still remember when it was only the five of us who would have to listen to your crazy ideas!”
“You okay?” Taehyung asks Jin, checking in on the mind reader, worried that Jin’s powers were doing more harm than good at the moment.
Jin raises his brow, clicking his tongue, “No complaints here!” he winks, dismissing Taehyung’s worries. Unless Seokjin really concentrated on a single person, the rumbling of their combined voices mimicked the sounds of their thoughts, big crowds like this made Seokjin feel damn near normal for once. Everyone, not just him, was suffering from the noise. And Seokjin, who had become used to the chaos, considered himself to have the advantage.
He pats Taehyung’s shoulder, Jin’s voice speaking clearly now in Taehyung’s thoughts so the mind reader didn’t have to yell. ‘I’m excited to get this show on the road. Now go be the perfect distraction, Mayor.’
---
You yawn, imagining all the ways you can get away from this boring bureaucratic display and start staring at the way Taehyung’s adam’s apple bobs up and down every time he speaks. ‘What is he talking about again?’ Some new clean air legislation he wants to propose to the state governor. He is rallying support from neighboring cities, calling for help not only from other mayors, but from the people. ‘He has nice lips,’ you think, focusing on the way he licks them when he’s thinking of what to say next.
The people love him and you don’t blame them, it will be easy to put pressure on the other mayors. But lately, even with pressure from their voter base, their donors always have the last say. You’re here because for the other mayors to agree, Taehyung is going to need some leverage. You’d like to leverage something between his legs.
They always include you now, which is a nice sentiment, but you rather be doing literally anything else, speaking of doing, you wonder where Namjoon is…
You can’t help but mull over your strained relationship with your old childhood friend turned superhero.
In the course of your very tumultuous relationship, you were currently sailing a small wave of harmony.
You had helped RM stop an up-and-coming crime lord, which to this day you deny, you were just in the right place at the right time, and instead of suspecting you of ulterior motives (something you have grown used to even if you do despise the implications) RM instead thanked you.
While waiting around for police to come carry said criminal away, to keep Joon’s attention you might have divulged a small hint about V’s next target, which you also vehemently deny, thus putting yourself in the superhero’s good graces.
For the first time in a long time, you had your friend back, if only for that one night, because (and this is something the superhero would also deny) Namjoon missed you like crazy.
There was one thing you both couldn’t deny, you knew each other better than anyone else. You could see Namjoon needed a friend to talk to, you could feel his loneliness because you felt it too, and Namjoon could see the longing behind your indifferent attitude, a feeling he shared...
So after the arrest you both went to the highest building in the city and you stayed there all night talking, nothing of really importance, but catching up with Namjoon meant the world to you nonetheless.
It was like all your problems stayed down there in the city dregs, unable to reach the heights where you and Namjoon stood. Alone together, you could be cordial with each other, talking and listening and talking, refusing to leave even when your eyes felt heavy and you could barely concentrate on anything but the warmth of his body and the comfort Namjoon just naturally exudes, a sense of security that had you falling asleep against his shoulder...
Namjoon carried you home to keep an eye of you. That was Namjoon’s excuse as to why you woke up in his bed.
It’s happened a few times since then, sometimes you really were in the right place at the right time. Was it fate? You and Namjoon always seem to naturally gravitate towards one another...
You’re not crossing any lines, you and Namjoon are past that, according to both of you, but falling asleep next to your old friend, his hard muscles pressed close to yours and his slumbering face against your shoulder, that’s where you want to be right now.
And then in the morning, when he’s not thinking about the principles of good and evil and leans into your warmth, when he doesn’t move away as your lips bump his forehead, his morning wood poking your thigh....
You quickly remove the embarrassing smile off your face and unclutter your thoughts when you notice Jin smirking at you, replacing your grin with a scowl instead. ‘Tell anyone and I will find a way to rearrange your atoms to shrink your dick, understood?’
Seokjin opens his mouth in mocking shock, aghast.
You look around and catch the glare of Yoongi’s yellow sunglasses in the sunlight as he stands twenty bodies away, completely immersed in his cell.
It’s comical how unfazed Yoongi is amongst the jeers and cheers of the crowd. Then you look behind you and smile when you see Jungkook’s cute wide-eyed expression as he listens to Mayor Kim’s speech, completely distracted from his mission.
‘Cute,’ you think. It’s not like you too weren’t distracted moments ago, but you’re wondering how you three got entrusted with this...
They want this scheme to succeed, don’t they?
---
‘You know she’s started seeing Kim Namjoon again,’ Seokjin lets Taehyung know telepathically.
Taehyung is smiling at the crowd, waving. He does not falter even if inside he’s mentally cursing.
‘Does Yoongi know?’ he asks the mind reader.
Seokjin scans the crowd and scrutinizes the tech-talker in question. ‘He has his suspicions,’ he deduces.
‘Let me handle it.’ he thinks. ‘And our plan?’
Seokjin catches your bored face. You’re looking around into the crowd, lost in your thoughts, and Seokjin finds what he’s looking for. ‘She’s all in,’ the mind reader lets Taehyung know. ‘That’s not the problem. I don’t trust her-’
‘It’s okay, Jin. Remember, you didn’t trust me when we first met either…’
Jin, had been the last person (besides you) to join Taehyung. He had reluctantly became part of their world because he wanted to make his old friend and resident tech-talker happy, the person who had been by his side at his worst, and Yoongi wanted to befriend Taehyung and his friends because he knew they could help his friend Jin, who at that time never really got a hold of his powers as well as Yoongi and had been suffering since high school.
Back then it had been so much easier. Now Taehyung has so many people counting on him, an entire city of people. And the weight on his shoulders feel even heavier, Taehyung would take on the weight of the world if he could.
He never expected he would be thrown into the spotlight, most of his childhood he wished to hide, away from his father who left bruises on him anytime he would act out. Then after the meteor-falling, Taehyung spent his teenage years learning how good it could feel to hide, get away with things he could only dream of. His new powers let him feel invincible when Taehyung was invisible. Hiding became not for self preservation, but self liberation.
And so Taehyung spent most of his adulthood stalking in the shadows, getting things done. Then he realized he had a talent for commanding an audience, and it sure felt good to be finally seen.
You, however, were not looking at him, he notices, as you meander in the massive gathered crowd. He might as well be invisible.
He looks down at the podium, quickly gathering himself. He will make you see him.
-A VERY LONG TIME AGO-
“Your friend is Kim Seokjin?” Yoongi won’t look Taehyung in the eyes and Jin winces, turning the earbuds he religiously kept in his ears to full volume.
Taehyung remembers how the charismatic upperclassmen seemed to had fallen off the face of the earth in his last year, “Ahhh...so what is it? Something powerful, yeah?”
Hoseok, Jimin, and Jungkook try to look like they aren’t paying attention, sitting around the corners of the room. Yoongi looks over his shoulder, watching Seokjin fidget on the spot. “Can I tell him?”
“That’s why we are here, aren’t we?” Jin mutters, very well aware he is the center of everyone’s attention.
Jin had good reason to be weary, he could hear all their deepest thoughts, the ones you would never admit out loud, desires to change the world...but changing it into a place where Taehyung and his friends came out on top.
Back then Yoongi’s power was only just strong enough to tap into small electronics and local CCTV. That’s where he first saw the mysterious group, he recognized their faces as his former classmates’ and spied things he would have believed were video anomalies if he didn’t know better. And once Yoongi realized who they were and what they were, the tech talker immediately tracked them down.
Jin and Yoongi had a long talk following his revelation, in which Yoongi finally asked Jin,“You barely leave your room, I haven’t been able to find a decent job in the city since we moved here, do you even know how much our rent is every month? How do you think I pay for it? ATMs are very friendly here, Jin, but... We need them, and they need us.”
“Hey...” Taehyung looks past Yoongi to Jin who seems to want to disappear from everyone’s sights, a feeling Taehyung was all too familiar with. “Seokjin…everyone here,” he gestures around to the group, “we’ve all been there, unable to control our powers-”
“Yeah yeah yeah,” Jin shuts his eyes, the music is at maximum volume and yet he can’t stop the thoughts running through him as the men recollect the first time they used their powers. “Let’s cut to the part where you help me turn it off.”
The men exchange glances. “You don’t, um, turn it off,” Hoseok interjects. “Sometimes I wish we could…” he looks down guiltily, “but that doesn’t mean you can’t find, well, peace...” Seokjin snorts, hearing Hoseok’s chaotic thoughts whirling around like a storm from behind his tight lipped silence.
Seokjin can’t take anymore, why is it that their thoughts are so much louder than everyone else’s?  “Can you all just stop thinking so damn loud!”
Remembering Yoongi’s earlier conversation with him, Taehyung puts everything together, and Seokjin doesn’t know whether to yell or cry listening to Yoongi’s worried confession in Taehyung’s thoughts.
Seokjin looks up at Taehyung as he works through the mind reader’s predicament. He pulls out an earbud, glancing over at the youngest man in the room, “He can do that?”
Taehyung nods. “Jungkook, can you hop him somewhere where it’s quiet, so he can relax for a bit.”
“Oh! ‘Ay-ay.” Before Yoongi could protest, Jungkook stood up and disappeared, reappearing just as quickly in front of the oldest and grabbing onto his shoulders, disappearing together.
“See you soon!” Jungkook smiles before leaving Seokjin all alone...in the middle of the Sahara.
Seokjin looks around, listening to…nothing. Even his own thoughts seemed quiet as the wind picked up and whipped around him.
‘…damn…it’s…hot.’ Seokjin laughs to himself, it’s been awhile since he was the only person in his head.
Seokjin sighs...then smiles at the beaming sun.
After a while (too short of a time in Seokjin’s opinion) Jungkook appears with Taehyung in tow then disappears leaving the two men alone.
“You’re gonna force me then, huh?” Seokjin speaks up after a long amount of silence, Taehyung being very unquiet in his mind, calling out to the mind reader over and over again.
‘The more you allow yourself to use your powers, the easier it might be to control them, ever thought of that?’
“I’ve been kind of too busy listening to everyone else’s thoughts!” Seokjin snaps back, kicking sand in Taehyung’s direction.
Taehyung, to his credit, was a person who rarely loses his temper. Instead he just smiles encouragingly, hands in his pockets. ‘Well, it’s just yours and my thoughts now...so...c’mon and try.’
---
Green light. A rumbling.
Taehyung couldn’t outrun whatever had been in the night sky. The meteor impact and the crash that followed knocked Taehyung off his feet. He was thrown to the ground by the force, his head knocking on the hard dirt, falling unconscious.
When he finally woke up, he thought he was having a heart attack by the way his chest was pounding, by the tingling in his fingertips, and how disoriented he felt.
Taehyung stumbled through the forest until he caught up with Jungkook, who was lying on the ground in the fetal position.
“J-Jungkook?”
Jungkook flinches, screaming when Taehyung touches him.
“Hey, a-are you okay? Where’s Jimin?”
“Taehyung?” Jungkook looks around frantically, “W-Where are you?!”
“What?!” He grabs Jungkook’s shoulder again and Jungkook shakes him off, looking around like he’s just seen a ghost.
“Jungkook! JUNGKOOK.”
“W-Where the fuck are you?” Jungkook spins around, his frightened stare passing right over Taehyung.
Taehyung looks down at his hand, it’s there. He sees it.
When he moves timidly closer to his friend, waving it in front of his face slowly, Jungkook doesn’t react.
“Jungkook!”
Jungkook flinches again, and then, Jungkook feels his inside twist…
“Not agai-”
Taehyung falls backwards, wide-eyed and speechless…
-
“Why are you showing me this?” Seokjin interjects.  “I already know Jungkook can teleport.”
‘So you understand where we are all coming from, and how we controlled our powers. It wasn’t easy for us either.’
“Fine, let’s get this backstory over with,” Seokjin mumbles, lying back down in the sand, relaxing under the sun.
-
“…J-Jungkook?” He was just there. And now he’s not! Taehyung yells out his name frantically, and Jimin’s too, walking around in circles.
Jungkook could hear Taehyung, but why couldn’t Taehyung hear them! ‘Why can’t we see each other?!’ Taehyung was all alone, deep in the forest, his two best friends vanished from sight, and Taehyung has a sinking feeling it all had something to do with that green light...
Aliens? Government experiment? A falling radioactive star? Ball of magic? Taehyung thinks of every possible thing it could be. What the hell could it have been?!
Suddenly there was a roaring, like nothing he has ever heard before. He looks around terrified, looking for the source-
“Oof!”
“Jungkook!”
Jungkook shivers. Fingers and toes numb with cold, shuddering again when he hears his name.
“I’m..I’m...”
“You need to calm dow-”
“Taehyung! Where the hell are you?!” Jungkook asks on the verge of tears.
“I’m here! I’m here!” Taehyung places his hand on Jungkook’s cold shoulder, trying to think of a reason why his friend still can’t see him.
“Can you see me? I’m, um, standing to your left.”
“No,” Jungkook cries, shaking, “And I…I…was here and then I was somewhere else and now I-I’m here again-”
“Take a deep breath-”
“I can’t! I can’t! It’s going to happen again, I feel it!” he wails. “I can't control it!”
“I’m here with you!”
“But I-I can’t see you!”
Taehyung’s heart hurts for his friend, he’s never seen Jungkook so terrified. He holds him tighter, hugging him.
“Taehyung!” For the first time since this ordeal, Jungkook is looking at Taehyung and not through him.
“You can see me?”
Jungkook nods, chewing on his bottom lip. “W-Where did Jimin go?!”
“I don’t know.” Taehyung pauses, “Somethi-”
In that moment Taehyung felt his insides twist and turn. And then the sky turns, encircling him, until everything was upside down. The sky was on the bottom and the ground was at his head and the world felt like it was spinning, or shifting, everything hot and cold and fast and slow all at once.
And then he landed on concrete.
“W-What t-the hell,” Taehyung groans.
Jungkook’s shoulders heave and he throws up on the side of a building.
It’s dusk, the pair are in an alley, the pebble gravel looking like nothing Taehyung was familiar with. “Oh shit, Jungkook,” he shakes his friend’s shoulder and Jungkook throws up again. “Ugh...you…we…we fucking teleported!”
“What?!”
“We teleported, man.”
“No way! I-I’m gonna be sick again.”
“Where the hell are we?”
“I think…in Athens.” Jungkook barfs up the remaining food in his stomach.
“What?!”
Jungkook lifts his head up a bit to point down the alleyway, at “That building, I think it’s a colosseum, it looks like the pictures on that cover...the book we were reading in our literature class.”
“You took us to ATHENS?!” Taehyung should start paying attention in school. How long would a plane ride home be? Oh god, how much?
“I didn’t mean to! It just keeps happening. Fuck, I just didn’t want to end up back in the Antarctic or wherever the hell I was.”
“Okay, so that means we can control it…somehow…” Taehyung decides. “We have to be able to control it…right?” He didn’t sound so confident, looking down at his hand. “Y-You can see me now?” Taehyung asks and Jungkook nods.
What did it feel like to be invisible...was there a difference? Taehyung wasn’t quite sure. How does one will himself not to be.
Taehyung takes a deep breath, inhaling slowly to concentrate. On what…he had no idea. But relaxing seemed better than being jittery and scared about it. And Taehyung’s calmness seemed to have an effect on the younger teenager as well, Jungkook starting to mirror his breathing.
“Jungkook, we can figure this out! Do you feel anything happening?” Jungkook shakes his head no, jumping when he hears a rat scurry between trash cans.
Taehyung had a good sense, he grabbed the younger man in anticipation, and lucky for him, Taehyung was right.
“Ugh! Shit, that’s going to take some getting used to.” Taehyung lies on the forest ground, dizzy again.
Jungkook curls into himself, fist pounding on the damp earth. “I don’t want to get used to this!” he curses. “Make it stop!”
The roar is back, closer, yet lower in pitch. Taehyung covers Jungkook’s body with his own, before Jungkook teleports them only a few meters away this time.
“W-Where are you?”
“Right here. You can’t see me again?” Hmm. Taehyung wanted to hide. Actually, it was an overwhelming sense to disappear that Taehyung felt in that moment. Maybe…
Jungkook lets out a surprised yelp. Eyes going wide as his friend rematerializes in front of him.
“You can see me!”
Jungkook nods, speechless. A large twig snaps. Taehyung reaches out for his friend but Jungkook has already gone from the spot.
Taehyung curses inwardly, hoping Jungkook is okay. “Who’s t-there?”
There is a whining noise behind the bushes, a very inhuman whining...
Taehyung repeats the question bravely. And instantly regrets finding out the answer.
A bear appears, standing on its hind legs, so large and tall its body eclipses the moon.
Taehyung should be terrified, but there were no bear sightings in this forest ever. Especially not a polar bear. The bear trips over its legs, and falls backwards with a grunt, its large paws holding its head.
“....wait, wait, wait, Jimin?!”
The bear makes a gurgling, grunting noise, high pitched and very un-bear-like.
“Oh shit…”
“IS THAT A FUCKING BEAR?!” Jungkook reappears and promptly disappears.
Jimin’s bear paws cover his bear eyes and he pulls his bear knees in. White fur shifts to something sleek, white, and feathery. Jimin’s large size begins to shrink as well, head shrinking and body shrinking until he is a very very tiny….chicken.
“Jimin, it’s going to be okay,” Taehyung pats his friend’s feathery head, lifting him up in his arms. “Are you trying to tell me something about our Jungkook?”
Jimin clucks, perturbed.
The next time Jungkook appears Taehyung tackles him to the ground. “Where were you?!”
Jungkook heaves, “...a…roller...c-c-”
“Yeah, yeah, I get it.” It’s going to be a long night.
“Bro, there’s a chicken on your head.”
-
The trio had gone all around the world trying to get a hold of their powers. Taehyung was the first to figure it out. He could only disappear and reappear, but he could do it on his own terms.
Jungkook was another story, and the reason the trio missed two full days of school. Once Taehyung convinced Jungkook his power was actually the coolest thing ever, the young teleporter could finally calm himself down enough to keep his body still and present.
And Jimin, who kept shifting into different animals and scaring innocent passerbys every time Jungkook teleported them to another location, had been the hardest to help.
Taehyung knew Jimin always had an image complex, however this power was totally out of hand!
But with a little encouragement, and a night of Taehyung and Jungkook telling an anxious alligator all the things they loved about their best friend, Jimin was able to finally shift back into himself.
The inseparable trio added another into the mix when they ran into their classmate Hoseok and recognized the sheer panic in the way he was acting, also noticing the intense heat that seemed to only exist in Hoseok’s vicinity.
By the time Taehyung and Jin found each other, Taehyung and his friends had just moved to the city after graduating. The younger group was a well oiled machine by that point, and conversely, Jin and Yoongi barely had a grip-
“I choose not to have a grip on my powers, by the way.” Jin mutters. “So what’s the catch? You’re not doing this out of the goodness of his heart, I know that.” Back then, just like now, Jin had no problem calling Taehyung out. “I came because Yoongi said you could help me. I want to stop hearing people’s thoughts, not do whatever the hell you’re thinking!”
Jin could see all the imaginative ways Taehyung believed his power could be used. Taehyung looked at Jin in almost reverence, imagining how many great things they could get done together.
Taehyung was the first to see a purpose in their powers and how they could work together. Alone, Jungkook had been a scared teleporter, his powers propelled him, but he had no direction. Alone, Jimin had been a shapeshifter that could gain freedom in his form, but was confined in so many other ways, unable to communicate with his friends. Alone, Hoseok was a force of nature, destructive more than he was productive, and alone, Taehyung could disappear, move undetected and get away with a lot, but it was so small in comparison to what Taehyung wanted, it was not enough.
But together? The scared little rabbit turned into a master hopper, taking his friends wherever they wanted to go. The shapeshifter learned how to transform into exactly what the group needed, becoming the perfect diversion, or tool, or weapon. The weathered man became a weather wonder, with practice Hoseok was able to harness his powers into the perfect storm. And Taehyung kept them hidden, under the radar, working in the shadows, helping his friends become more and more powerful.
Learning to master their powers had always been the goal, and honestly, the crime that followed was just a natural consequence. Their powers were just so perfectly suited for crime-
“How convenient,” Seokjin narrows his eyes on Taehyung, who remains unfazed. In fact, he looks proud thinking back to his friend’s first exploits.
Hopping into theaters without a ticket or hotels without a reservation, disappearing food off grocery shelves when they were hungry or clothes that they couldn’t afford. A large deer scaring workers away so his friends could take the latest electronic, a small contained fire so the group could leave without paying. It was stealing, sure, but they weren’t hurting anyone except for a few soulless corporations.
But then a circus came into town and Taehyung saw a different kind of opportunity. A crazy idea to everyone else but Taehyung, who was waiting for the perfect situation where they could use all their powers together.
“You did that?!” Seokjin laughs incredulously. Taehyung laughs too, thinking back to that day proudly. “But why?”
Their string of small thefts had prepared them for something sensational, something that would become the blueprint for Taehyung’s later exploits.
Growing up, Taehyung often felt helpless, but there were others much more helpless than him, without a voice to ask for help. Helping small creatures became something to fixate on instead of Taehyung’s troubled home life, like keeping a torn winged butterfly alive, saving something beautiful made him feel like his life was still worth it.
Young Taehyung hated most people, most people who were cruel like his father, but he loved nature and animals and those like him who were willing to protect the beauty in this world.
So, with Taehyung’s convincing, the group staged an elephant-napping!
Disappearing an entire brigade of circus elephants, ransoming back Jimin, hopping the real elephants into the wild where they belonged, destroying the circus tent with the strongest winds ever recorded in the area, and taking their profits right under their noses, it was a chaotic debacle that...actually worked. It worked so well, none of them could believe it. It worked so well, they decided to keep going. What next?
Yoongi and Jin would have been the perfect addition. They could all become...so powerful! Taehyung could see it and Jin saw right through Taehyung, but he could also see how confident and strong the four men were now. By comparison, Jin was hanging on by a thread.
Jin scoffed, shaking his head back and forth. ‘Just imagine...imagine what you could be. What we can be! Can’t you see it? I can! Just look!’ Taehyung thinks.
“I don’t need to hold your hand for it to work.” Seokjin stares down at Taehyung’s outstretched hand.
‘Have you tried, man? Maybe it will help you focus...’ He moves closer, hand still welcoming Seokjin in, hoping for a truce. ‘We can help each other. You want some control, right? That’s what we all want.’
“No, you want to control.”
Taehyung laughs. ‘Yeah, so? Is that so horrible? You can look through all my thoughts, go ahead. Why were we given this kind of power if we weren’t meant to use it? We can be...a good team.’ When Seokjin looked into Taehyung’s mind, he saw the truth in his words.
Jin looked around at the vast desert and realized how content he felt for the first time in a very long time, how Jin could finally be himself here, in the middle of...nothing. Jin could be the king of nothing...
Or Jin could entertain Taehyung’s wild fantasies for just a moment...
Well, Jin couldn’t very well pay Yoongi’s kindness back in nothing...
And so Jin decided, fine, “If we’re going to be a team, I propose a team name then.”
“What?”
“Team Kim Seok Jin!” he joked, laughing and he grabbed Taehyung’s hand.
---
And they did work well together, Jin and Yoongi fit in like missing puzzle pieces. Taehyung had been right. Their powers lent an advanced level of “security” to their operations. They became an unstoppable force, they became partners in crime, they became friends...family.
And now Taehyung and Seokjin were both sharing a stage in front of thousands, both working together again, helping each other, because a very long time ago they both decided they wanted a whole lot more than the nothing they were dealt with.
-
Taehyung finishes his speech and the crowd cheers. By now the three of you have moved your way through the crowd, calculatedly finding each other until you’re all standing in the perfect spot to do some business.
In eye-shot there is a closed off section designated for “important” guests only. Celebrities, elite members of society, politicians-
Wait…
“What’s wrong?”
You yank Yoongi around so his back is to the tent too. “RM is there!” you hiss, pulling on Jungkook’s hair to get him to pay attention.
“Ow!” Jungkook lifts his hoodie up, courageously flicking your forehead in retaliation. Lucky for him you find his actions cute, but that doesn’t stop you from punching his shoulder and putting him in a headlock.
“He was not on the list! What the hell!” Yoongi grips his cell tighter, tapping into the electronic and scanning through the VIP guest list again.
“Would you turn away a superhero if he randomly showed up?” you ask, then realizing who you were talking to when Yoongi raises his eyebrow at you, you add, “I mean would they-yah!” Jungkook picks you up in his arms, abating your headlock.
Yoongi groans. You look over your shoulder quickly, noticing the crowd around RM. You scoff, catching all the women huddled around the larger than life hero, gazing up at him in reverence, practically undressing him with their eyes, ugh.
“The plan is still on!” you mutter, back to business, “If RM gets in the way, I’ll handle it”
“Alright,” Yoongi laughs amusedly. “JK, this one,” Yoongi holds up his cell in front of the younger man's face, showing Jungkook the screen. Displayed is a picture of a man with graying hair. You tilt your head to see as well, leaning on the tech talker’s shoulder. “Go fetch,” Yoongi teases.
“I will leave you on top of Mount Kilimanjaro,” Jungkook growls, “without hopping your clothes.”
You giggle, you would pay to see the tech talker power his way out of that. “Aww, good boy,” you pet the top of Jungkook’s head. He grabs your hand and bites it, gnawing on your palm to tickle you.
Honestly, the three of you should not have been in charge of this plot.
---
“Got ’em,” Jungkook hops back. “Next one?” Jungkook holds his hand out so Yoongi can give him another small device. Without another word Jungkook crouches down, disappearing in the process.
“People really don’t notice things, huh,” you mumble, hugging Yoongi.
“Well there’s a lot of people.” He drapes his arms around you. You smile and Yoongi stares down at your lips. “Lost in their own worlds,” he moves closer, “You can get away with a lot-”
“Next!” Jungkook hops up, right in between the both of you, your lips grazing the teleporter’s check instead. He flinches, surprised, and you smack him before he disappears once again.
Yoongi acts quicker this time, lips pressing tightly against yours until you forget all your annoyances, getting lost in the softness Yoongi rarely exhibits. Soft lips, soft tongues, soft caresses down your back...
Jungkook bumps you both with his shoulder. “Next!” he says, annoyed he’s being ignored.
You giggle and find your favorite spot behind the tech talker’s ear to nibble, trying your best to distract him at the mission at hand as Yoongi fumbles with his cell.
---
“I can have a penthouse set up for you no questions asked, our city is beautiful, a lovely landscape to uhh fly-”
“My daughter is a huge fan, RM, let me introduce you-”
“We would love your support, we can set up some endorsement promos, if you don’t want the money, we could donate it to a charity?”
“RM! RM! Can I take a picture of us for my Instagram...pluh-ease!”
“I, uh, better, um – just here for, er to make sure you’re all safe – um, I’ll just uhhhh-” Namjoon stumbles backward and hovers a few meters off the ground, needing some air away from the forming crowd. The superhero RM is becoming a celebrity amongst celebrities and they all “oooh” and “ahhh” at his small feat of power.
Namjoon sighs. At this height he can see better anyways, he deduces, floating even higher. He knows Mayor Kim is up to no good, he just knows it!
The sheer number of prolific figures visiting the city could not be a coincidence, and all perfectly rounded up in front of Taehyung, no, “V” and his gang were planning something, Namjoon could feel it in his bones.
Namjoon agonized on what to do, worried he too was falling into a trap if he were to come as RM, but Namjoon was confident if this was a trap, then he would be able to strong arm his way out of it. He is the strongest man in the world, after all.
And Namjoon wanted Mayor Kim to see him, cape and all, and know that the superhero was always going to be there to put a wrench in his evil plans.
Sure, it was a little obsessive the way Namjoon would keep tabs on The Mayor. Taehyung had wounded the practically indestructible superhero in a way that Namjoon couldn’t seem to ignore or forget. RM was always picking a fight with V and his team, he couldn’t help himself, like picking a scar, re-opening the deep cut in his heart. Namjoon was never going to forgive Taehyung for turning you against him.
But now The Mayor’s speech is over. Nothing out of the ordinary has happened. Namjoon wonders if he was wrong about Mayor Kim after all. Taehyung stands on the podium while one of his advisor’s addresses the crowd. Namjoon can’t help but scowl, wishing he had super hearing so he could listen-in on the conversation the Mayor and his “Head of Security,” Kim Seokjin, were currently engaged in.
Jin excuses himself away. Namjoon raises an eyebrow, shouldn’t his Head of Security stay by Mayor Kim’s side at all times? What’s going on?
Namjoon smiles, ready for action. If there is a security breach, the superhero should be lending a helping hand too, it’s the right thing to do.
---
“Where are we hopping to, Bunny?”
“To Jin first,” Jungkook mutters. “And don’t call me, ‘Bunny.’”
You pout, hands squeezing Jungkook’s cheeks. “But you’re so cute, like a bunny.”
“First a dog, now a bunny,” Jungkook mumbles. “I’m not Jimin, you know.”
Yoongi places his elbow on your shoulder. “C’mon JK, we’re running late,” he warns.
“I wonder whose fault is that,” Jungkook looks between you and Yoongi accusingly.
“Let’s go! I don’t get paid unless this works!” you shush him.
Jungkook has tagged a few other Mayors, those who came to listen to Mayor Kim’s speech on his request to show their ‘support.’ A hollow gesture, Taehyung knew his bill was so controversial that when it came down to the help he needed, it would be one excuse after the other before they would really show their allegiance.
That’s where you three came in. And Seokjin, the real boogeyman.
Jungkook hops you and Yoongi backstage, right in front of Jin-
-and RM.
“I knew it,” Namjoon grab’s Jin’s security badge, yanking the lanyard tightly around Jin’s neck.
“Well if you listened, I wasn’t exactly disagreeing with you-”
“You said, ‘what kind of crazy person would think you’d try something in front of so many people.’”
“W-Well obviously the kind who was right,” Jin grunts.
“We don’t have time for this, do something” Yoongi whispers to you. “Quickly!”
“I need to hop you all together,” Jungkook grunts under his breath. Now all four men are looking at you, Namjoon looking most disappointed of all.
‘Dammit.’ You had to say you would handle it, didn’t you, y/n? You start putting together a plan, sticking whatever idea you have that can remotely fit together in the seconds afforded to you, hoping you created something that works, a Picasso of strategies.
‘Got it?’ you ask Jin, who translates the insanity he just witnessed in your brain to the others.
“Oh God...” Jin takes a swing at the superhero, who easily catches his fist.
RM stumbles backwards, suddenly overwhelmed by everyone else’s thoughts thanks to the mind reader pushing his powers through their conjoined hands. First puzzle piece, stroke of the brush, or whatever you wanna call the parts of this crazy plan-
A scuffle ensues. You jump on the superhero’s back like a spider monkey, RM holds the mind reader in a headlock, pushing through the mind noise, and Yoongi and Jungkook latch onto the superhero’s arms, quite unsuccessfully doing any form of restraint.
This is such a bad plan! Ready?
‘By the way, that’s really not what I want to hear whenever we start a plan. It’s like being in the passenger’s seat and the driver screaming when turning onto traffic-’
Whatever! ONE TWO THREE GO!
Before you can cause a real commotion, you all disappear thanks to Jungkook’s teleportation.
And then you all reappear. Only this time, ten-thousand stories above ground…
And falling…
And screaming...
Namjoon uses his powers to stop everyone’s descent, hoovering in the air with four fully grown human beings holding onto him for dear life.
Life has a way of catching up to you, and sometimes you need to just be catched too. “Let go!” you yell.
While Jin still struggles in RM’s grip, you, Jungkook, and Yoongi all let go.
Jungkook hops himself through the air, trying to get a hang of teleporting...while also falling to his death, not a feat he thought he would ever have to accomplish.
Still holding onto the mind reader, Namjoon watches as you and Yoongi rapidly descend, astonished that you just willingly and recklessly decided to let yourselves fall.
Jungkook hops right into Yoongi’s path, crashing into each other and tailspinning together before they both disappear from Namjoon’s sight.
The pair finally roll to a stop on the ground, Jungkook definitely not prepared to handle the acceleration. Yoongi starts dry heaving as Jungkook stands up quickly. Always a fast learner, he disappears once again while the tech talker tries to regain his composure.
Yoongi lies down, staring at the sky, still surprised he was there just moments ago. Yoongi thinks the two specks in the sky might be his accomplices, but he truly has no idea how your plan is ever going to work...
‘Why isn’t she stopping herself?!’ Namjoon thinks, worried the high altitude has made it impossible for you as he watches as you fall backward, staring at him the whole way down.
“You know, she swore Jungkook not to save her. I guess she believes you’ll save her-”
“You’re lying!”
“You could be right,” Jin grunts, tightly squeezed by the superhero, “Or you could be deathly wrong. Are you willing to take that chance?” Namjoon grinds his teeth, accelerating him and the mind reader down.
Just as he is gaining momentum, Jungkook appears next to him with a coy smile, teleporting them all higher again, before falling and disappearing from RM’s sight once more.
“Let me go!” Seokjin yells, struggling as Namjoon descends after you again.
Namjoon is determined, he flies even quicker, not listening to Jin’s annoying thoughts. ‘It’s going to have to be me or her, Namjoon. We’re high, if you let me go, Jungkook can save me. That woman is crazy enough, you know she won’t give in. She’ll die if you don’t save her.’
To prove Jin’s point, Jungkook does it again, hopping the superhero even higher this time.
RM descends like a bolt of lightning. Jin curses this plan of yours, victim to the sickening shift in gravity once again. ‘She is not going to give up her life for whatever stupid shit you’ve planned! Y/n is not like that!’ For once, Namjoon can count on your own self-preoccupation. ‘Where the hell is that menace, Jungkook?!’
You’re falling faster now. You glance downward and hold out your hands, managing to slow yourself down in the air, but only momentarily before you start struggling again.
Your body starts turning uncontrollably. ‘Save her, RM!’ Seokjin’s panicked voice permeates the superhero’s mind as he pushes away from him, attempting to free himself from Namjoon’s vice hold.
You scream. Namjoon curses, finally giving in.
He lets go of Jin, speeding through the air to you. But he’s too far away, he took too long. He pushes his body, accelerating to inhuman speeds trying to catch up with you.
-
Jungkook hops himself to the screaming mind reader, teleporting him to Yoongi. The three men all fall to the ground like bowling pins at the impact.
Jungkook stands and trips over his feet, disappearing in the process.
“You had to tell her ‘quickly,’ didn’t you?” Seokjin groans, trying to fix his wind-swept hair and clothes. Yoongi lets his mouth drop, back on the ground with grass and dirt in his hair again, regretting ever getting out of bed this morning.
-
You look down at the ground quickly approaching.
