Here's to systems who change a lot!

In neurodivergent or larger systems, it can be quite common for there to be drastic changes pretty often; whether it might be because their interests shift, or because they're so large that any one group might not stay static, here's to those who experience these changes!

Shoutout to:

Systems who don't have a host, or have multiple hosts

Plurals who's hyperfixations and special interests influence their splits/main fronters

Polyfragmented individuals who split off groups of fragments at a time

Large collectives that end up shifting over time in general

Systems who regularly experience system collapses, resets, shuffles, dormancy, hibernation, and similar events

Those who end up splitting large amounts of introjects

Anyone else I missed!

It's hard to go with the flow sometimes, but change is part of nature! I know it can be difficult to handle some days, but you're doing so amazing right now! Please never forget that!

Hello, I was wondering if you had some advice for us:

We used to have a lot, lot more alters, most of which were fragments and some of which were fully fleshed, however it seems like in the last year or so we have gone through a complete and total system restructuring of how we function, member count is only like as far as I can tell at least under 20 instead, we definitely feel more median than we used to and we share a lot of traits in common with some individual traits unique to each person. A couple things have stayed the same though- the host (me now, sorry we don't want to name any of us) is always in front and never able to leave, and we continue to definitely still be disordered the same way with memory issues, dissociation etc. Is this ..something that happens? We have dealt with a significant amount of change and stress in the last year that might have contributed to this as well. Also, we've been wanting to reset our pluralkit because of this but I'm feeling guilty because what if everyone who disappeared randomly comes back and gets upset with us? It's been a lot to wrestle with because it's very different, at least we have *slightly* better communication lol

Hiya! To answer your main question, absolutely!! Systems can and often do change, and sometimes they can experience drastic changes! This can happen for a wide variety of reasons, and we really think it will vary from system to system as to how and why these changes occur! For example, stress, big life changes, trauma, healing progress, system discovery, and finding safety are all things that might cause a system’s structure to change. It really does depend on the system and their unique, personal situations! >w<

Now, when it comes to feeling guilty about wanting to update your pluralkit… we do have a suggestion for you!

Could you possibly take a screenshot of your current pluralkit information and setup, then go ahead and make changes to reflect your system as y’all are now? That way, you have a record of how your system used to look, and you can always change it back if you need to in the future! But you can still update your pluralkit to match your system with its current alters! We think it’s better to help, accommodate, and work with the alters and fragments you have access to now... If any other alters or fragments resurface, y’all can regroup and reorganize your pluralkit when that time comes! :3

Ahh good luck to y’all with whatever comes for your system in this new chapter of your lives! Please don’t feel too bad for changing your tools to more accurately reflect your system as it currently is. We promise, change is normal and common for systems of all sorts!! And if any of your previous alters do resurface, it would be better to explain the situation and go from there than to make your current alters work with out-of-date information in the off chance that your dormant alters return.

#fashion #clothing #modern clothing is NOT practical. it may seem like it on the surface but we've moved so far from #actual practicality that if you take one step out of the system it breaks down #and we need to change the entire system for our own health and the good of the planet #I'm not saying everyone has to dress full historical stylistically! but. we need to bring back some TECHNOLOGIES our ancestors used

Studying linguistics is actually so wonderful because when you explain youth slang to older professors, instead of complaining about how "your generation can't speak right/ you're butchering the language" they light up and go “really? That’s so wonderful! What an innovative construction! Isn't language wonderful?"

#linguistics #gen z slang #english #as people in the reblog pointed out!#most gen z slang comes from (or was appropriated from) aave #honestly I was just excited to talk about how people in my field actually get excited about non standard uses of English #instead of ridiculing speakers #and I tagged incorrectly and didn’t point out the very real issues of language and power and appropriation inherent in modern slang #in that much of it was appropriated #and even that which experiences language change in the wider culture still originated in aave #aave is just as linguistically valid as any other English dialect because it is a proper language #and the grammar is incredible!!!#habitual be is fantastic and an excellent example of how a richer case system or a certain case can render an adverb unnecessary #and the phonology is just beautiful #anyway I’m very sorry #I fucked up
