I whisper your name

The wind carries the softness

To your eager lips

I inhale a breath of wind so gentle

Like a prayer, keeping faith

Whisper my name

And I call…”Pristine”

Into the night once again

My words are your breath

A grin on your lips

Lips that cover mine

As I tremble and sigh

A grin we both share

A kiss, we both give and take

Yesterday, I asked @brooklynbubbles about her favourite painting per an ask game, and on a whim added the bonus: add an oldies song to capture that painting’s feel. You can find that post, here. She combined Noah Davis. Untitled. 2015. with The Mama’s & The Papa’s - Dream A Little Dream Of Me. And it worked out so well! Really, do check it out. Watch the painting, listen to the song. The combination of the two gives them both a whole other dimension. I want more of this, so I’m making it a challenge.

This is the first time I’ve done one of these so I’m really excited!!

last song: “Kool Thing” by Sonic Youth. I’ve been on 90s alternative kick for the last week and the guitar work in this song has been scratching some deep aural itch in my brain (Best experienced with headphones)

currently watching: I’ve just got done with the first season of FX’s The Bear which is so good! Beautifully intense and full of heart. I’m about to start its second season. (Also, who else is excited for the new season of What We Do In the Shadows ???)

current obsession: I’ve been obsessing over historical topics these last few months. Back in April/May-ish it was progressive social movements in America in the 60s and 70s (and the music of course!). These last few weeks it’s been the history of neurodivergence with a particular focus on autism spectrum disorder. To that end, I’ve been slowly combing through Neuro Tribes by Steve Silbermen. I’ve also read The Autism FAQ by Joel Biel and Faith G. Harper. I highly recommend the latter if you’d like to learn more about ASD.

Who is/are your writer-crush(es)?

Haha this is an interesting ask. There are so many amazing writers here that inspire me deeply! I really don't have nearly enough time to read them all. I don't know that any of them qualify as my crushes per say, but I admire and respect all of them. 1. A song I would like played at my funeral: Zucchero - Il Volo. It's so beautiful it almost causes a profound sadness. I never looked up the translated lyrics until today, but they seem rather fitting as well.

2. A book I enjoy rereading: Herman Melville's Moby Dick. Ahab is one of my favourite fictional characters.

3. Last new movie that I watched for fun: Mortal Kombat (2021). I hope they'll make another, because the last one's cliff hanger was Johnny Cage. These kind of movies are usually so bad, they're good, but in this case I actually thought  the movie was good.

4. An old movie I enjoy rewatching: Old: Total Recall (1990 (there is no other Total Recall movie, but I’m adding the year just in case you thought there was another Total Recall movie)). Old-old: Moby Dick (1956), with Gregory Peck as Ahab. It's awesome. It's timeless. It's timelessly awesome.

5. A song I enjoy but doesn't fit my aesthetic: André Hazes - Zeg Maar Niets Meer. There's not a direct translation for this Dutch music genre called Smartlap. Somewhere between city folk music and a tearjerker. It's not for me, but this song's all right. The original is Lesley Gore's You Don't Own Me.

And no I did not steal the title from @definegodliness (this man is lying).  ;)  Thank you Mark, who along with sanddollarpoems, @prasannawrites, @expoundingspark and @goneahead kindly invited me on one or both of these.  Although I’m probably famous, or more likely notorious for being anti social (media) here, I think I’ll play.  This might be fun.   5 nice things about me: 1: I love to write, after 20 plus years of writing (nearly 11 on Tumblr), it’s a little more difficult, yet the love is still there. 2: I make people laugh, especially at work. 3: While I can be whinny, I’m rarely if ever mean.   4: Back to writing, I especially love my inner writer/child.  He’s very kind and loving even when I’m not feeling it. 5: This last one is kind of challenging, being very emotional, along with knowing sorrow a little too well, I’m also on a first name basis with joy and beauty.  This combination I believe helps me to be understanding of and compassionate toward others.
