dylan was a football player in high school, believe it or not. he was rather good at it too, which is sort of jarring considering his pacifistic nature. however, he DID land on someone incorrectly at some point during his senior year, and broke their wrist. he quickly abandoned the sport altogether because of how guilty he felt. 

touched on this briefly but dylan really… loves indiana jones lmao. like, it’s quite ironic given his absolutely inability to be a badass, and lack of suaveness. however, he admires indy’s lust for adventure. he also was obsessed with the mummy as a kid. both of these were incredible sources in his very irrational decision to sudden anthropology. however, he does really love and admire anthropology. his favorite ethnography is the spirit catches you and you fall down, which makes him cry like a little bitch every time he even thinks about it. 

he’s the second oldest, but he is also baby. he is SUCH a big momma’s boy. he misses his mom so much. he writes to her often, and of course calls her even more. despite being six-foot tall, he still goes home and rests his head on his mother's lap, falls asleep as she runs her fingers through his hair. he often tries to find native english plants and flowers to press, and mail back to his mother in the form of bookmarks. has nEVER STEPPED ON A CRACK IN HIS LIFE, BABY.

just leaves a shit ton of notes in books in the library. some are riddles, some are poetry, some are commentary on the book, some are doodles. just depends on how he’s feeling for that book. he doesn’t tell anyone he does it, but he’s waiting for someone to connect the dots with his handwriting and writing style. 

speaking of plants, his room is basically a big greenhouse. he has so many plants, and takes serious care of them all. he has a little humidifier in his space for them, marks down when he waters what plants, and has a label maker to label them all with a name. they are all named after shakespeare characters. 

dyl is a doodler, so much so that he contributes to the school paper as a cartoonist. his cartoons are usually just random thoughts he has, but sometimes they get political and he works marxism into them. (this man loves marx.) 

[ suicide implied tw, death mention tw ] he dresses like a victorian boy in love with his roommate who has recently died of scarlet fever and in his mourning, plans to disappear in the bog by the school by mysterious circumstances and become a ghost that haunts the college with his lover. like lots of gray and slacks and ties ands ties and sweaters, lol. also he has glasses that he never wears because he can never find them! catch him squinting in your classroom because he can’t see SHIT. too shy to ask you for your notes though, doesn’t wanna inconvenience you! but when he’s Out on the Town®, he fucking wears like, tacky patterned shirts that are expensive but ugly. someone please help him. 

all about fun socks! he loves owning socks that have dumb little images on them. if you get him a pair of fun socks, he’d absolutely go nuts. his entire week: made. 

he leaves his roommate limericks when he senses they are sad. tapes em to the bathroom mirror or leaves them in the fridge. also loves buying people presents. tiny ones. like haunted looking things from second hand stores, or your favorite chocolate. also is the sort of friend that has EVERYTHING in his bag, in case someone cuts themselves or has a headache. can be a bit of a mom himself. it’s the little things, y’know?

quite literally heeheheh ok I’ll see myself out LMAO the rest of this song doesn’t literally apply to these two, they love each other very much and rest assured they’d never actually, deliberately hurt each other. it’s more the general Vibe(tm) of the song that fits their courting process + I really liked the poetic irony of this line used as the quote & the last line of the fic XD Also bear in mind this is from D’leah’s POV and yes, it is semi-ironic on purpose because...it’s D’leah. Any regulars on the blog should be very familiar with mama Sith’s propsensity to be a bully with an overinflated ego at this point *shrugs* XD

OKAY, with that out of the way, here we go! A little oneshot. I haven’t sat down to properly write or edit for a good long while, but this is still one of my favourite oneshots that I’ve ever written tbh, so...enjoy! 😄😄 I’ll leave it up to reader interpretation as to whether they actually finished the mission her brother & dad sent them out on or got sidetracked(tm) 👀😉

I don’t think it needs a particular warning since it’s literally one sentence but there is a mention of killing an assassin in the middle of this (under the cut) so ig be aware of that. It’s not horribly graphic so should be fine but uhhh, just in case?

Of all the Royal Guards that could have possibly been assigned to accompany her on this mission, it had to be this one. The heiress would be lying if she said she wasn't a tad bitter by the Emperor's insistence on that arrangement; she'd attempted to change his mind in a moment of desperation in the past, but her father would hear nothing of it, patting her on the shoulder and claiming that none of the others had the skill level for this sort of task, or to keep up with her during it. So, once more, she was resigned to the company of the fool who, despite her snapping, always seemed to turn up when he was least wanted and needed. 

(This was, of course, not the case and given that his entire purpose was to protect the heiress from threats, perhaps she should have been more tolerant of his presence, or perhaps her protests stemmed less from annoyance and more from something else than she was willing to admit…)

 And he had been fraying D'leah's nerves ever since they'd landed on Tatooine this morning. Kissai had enough arrogance for the both of them, and he seemed to have gotten the idea into his head that she couldn't take care of herself without him needing to jump in to "rescue" her at the most inopportune moment. It was infuriating. She did not need him charging in to help, she could handle herself just fine.

Everything about this man irritated her to no end: the way he stomped around with his great big feet and woke half the karkin’ planet, his habit of always being right behind her whenever she turned around, the way he kept grabbing her by the shoulder to pull her back and insist he, of all people, went first; his stupid face and that annoying, oaf-ish smile of his…

She’d been so busy internally cursing her Guard that she’d failed to notice the man who had been tailing them since the spaceport; in fact, she only noticed him in the first place when she heard his spine crack as Kissai lifted him into the air with the Force, then flung the body down in front of her almost pointedly.

D’leah let out an agitated hiss as her amber eyes flicked from the corpse at her feet, to his face as he raised both browstalks at her as if to say "I told you so", then back again, and sputtered.

“He wasn’t going to shoot me.” 

“I think you’ll find he was, princess.” Kissai retorted smoothly, plucking the man’s blaster pistol off the ground and waving it at her as he added, “You’re welcome, by the way.” She bristled faintly at the word ‘princess’. Sometimes when she was in a good mood, she’d slip up and let it slide without correcting him. Today, after the morning she’d had, D’leah was in no mood to put up with it.

“I don’t need you following me around like a lost Tuk’ata pup!” she snapped at him, trudging onwards and praying he’d catch his stomping feet in a sinkhole when he tried to follow her.

“Your father seems to think otherwise.” The man simply laughed the comment off, pulling his hood up to protect his face from the sand that whipped into a vortex around them. His voice dropped an octave, to become a more serious growl. “Are you forgetting that my entire job is to protect you?” 

The Ahaszaai High Lady snarled under her breath, checking the locator beacon Duuma had given her as she ducked into the alcove it indicated. The lost artifact should be around here somewhere…

“I don’t need protecting, I can take care of myself just fine!” 

“Mm, of course, D’leahane, because Sith who can take care of themselves usually almost get decapitated by assassins.” Kissai snorted, though she could practically hear the shit-eating grin in his voice, “I think your father’s right to ask me to accompany you. You’d have died three times today if I hadn’t.”

“GO JUMP IN A SARLACC PIT!” she shouted back at him. 

“And there are the creative insults your brother warned me about.” 

D’leah paused in her search to turn her head and give him a dirty look over her shoulder, intoning menacingly. “I’ll kill him when I see him next.” 

Kissai’s expression moulded into one of concern this time, the red-eyed Pureblood blinking at her uncertainly as he reminded her. “...You don’t know which one it was.”

Now it was her turn to grin at him.

“Don’t need to, I have a fifty-fifty shot.”

“No wonder they’re both afraid of you.” he scoffed, rolling his eyes. Truthfully, the High Lady was doing her best to ignore his obvious needling as she ducked through another archway and moved further into the cave system, the words she threw over her shoulder echoing back to him off the empty passageway’s walls.

“You should be afraid of me, too. I could end you.”

She was surprised he was still behind her, he could move rather fast despite his large frame, it would seem. D’leah tried not to be too impressed by that fact, but if she was being honest...

“Does it bother you that I’m not, princess?” 

He wasn’t going to drop this, was he? She’d been about to levitate a pile of rocks out of their path, but stopped and spun around to glare at him instead.

“Don’t you “princess” me, you...you…” just when she needed it the most, her ability to think of an appropriate insult failed her, and instead she trailed off into awkward silence. Kissai took that as an invitation to make her even more irritated that his wit was quicker than hers, and added, grinning the whole while: “If you’re trying to think of something you haven’t called me yet, we’ll be here for a good century or so.”

“Fool.” she hissed in frustration. He had her on the ropes, now, and that wasn’t somewhere the Ahaszaai heiress was used to being.  “Is that the best one you have? Did I wear you out, my Lord~?” he crooned back at her, and that was when D’leah put her foot down. She flung a few bolts of lightning in his direction for good measure. As she had suspected, his reflexes were as good as his saber skills and he easily deflected them off his palm before the electricity did any damage, swatting them aside into the wall as if he were brushing dust off his cloak.

“I knew you were going to do that, too...do you really think I can’t handle you?” he teased fondly. 

“I’ve no time for oafs the likes of you.” D’leah growled.

"Then tell me to leave you alone." he stared back at her seriously, browstalks furrowing as his gaze slid from hers to focus on the rest of her face, as if searching her expression for a nonverbal cue he might have missed. "At your word, my Lord, you'll not hear another thing from me beyond those necessary for my duty." 

Looking into his eyes in that moment, she was forced to admit the reality that perhaps she didn’t want him to leave her alone. He’d figured out she was testing him, and now he was calling her bluff, the kriffing, good-looking bastard.  Her jaw spurs rattled in annoyance, but D'leah's lips remained sealed. He waited a full minute, still studying her carefully, to give her plenty of opportunity to voice her thoughts. 

She didn't. The corners of Kissai's mouth turned upwards into a faint smile. 

"That's what I thought." he stepped away from her again, but not before slipping up and forgetting his station for long enough to murmur fondly, "Your nose scrunches up when you're sulking, you know. It’s cute."

D'leah could let "princess" slide on a good day, as far as his pet names went it was among those she considered tolerable, but she drew the line at "cute"! Annoyed and frustrated in more ways than one, she strode after him to reach up and grab the taller Pureblood's shoulder to stop him in his tracks. The Guard turned towards her again, a small, confused noise rumbling in his throat.

First she punched him in the jaw, then she kissed him. Hard. And that was the end of that.

Heartslabyul

Edelgard von Hresvelg - Edelgard is in Heartslabyul because her response to being pissed off is a lot like the Queen of Hearts--she decides to topple the monarchy and recreate Fodlan. On that note, I can see her fitting Scarabia too, but closer to Heartslabyul. She’s probably Riddle’s favourite junior. Trey likes her, Cater has tried to flirt with her (Cater: “never again”). Ace and Deuce are probably intimidated by her, and she doesn’t try to get along with them.  

Hubert von Vestra - I was pretty close to putting Hubert in Diasomnia, but he’s a pretty stubborn guy and will push himself into Heartslabyul. Plus, he’s a pretty strict guy so Heartslabyul isn’t so bad for him... What’s that? You want to know who Hubert gets along with? *chuckles* oh how naive, he only sees Edelgard. I can see him getting along with Riddle and Trey. Trey more than Riddle because Trey makes great coffee. He thinks Cater, Ace and Deuce are frivolous and a waste of time lmao. 

Dimitri Alexandre Blaiddyd - Dimitri is in Heartslabyul because his response (”KILL EVERY LAST ONE OF THEM”) to getting completely pissed off mirrors the Queen (“OFF WITH YOUR HEAD”). IRONICALLY, he and Edelgard are very alike in that aspect--but while Dimitri is hot anger--Edelgard is cold anger. They both have pretty terrifying rage. Pre-war, the two really did get along so hence I don’t think Heartslabyul will implode. Other than that, he’s actually a pretty peaceful guy unless completely set off. He’d be respectful of his seniors (especially Riddle and Trey), a little miffed at Cater because he’s like Sylvain. He’s okay with Ace and Deuce, but likely gets along better with Deuce. They vibe pretty well. 

Dedue Molinaro - Honestly, I could see Dedue in Scarabia too, but I figured he’d find some way to make sure he was with Dimitri. He gets along well with everyone, with their only note that he’s a pretty silent, careful guy. He gets along best with Trey because they like to exchange recipes, and Cater appreciates how Dedue is always willing to help out with the gardens. 

Ingrid Brandl Galatea - Actually might compete with Edelgard as Riddle’s favourite junior. Riddle probably likes that Ingrid is strict on herself. She is, however, definitely Trey’s favourite junior because of how enthusiastic she is with his cooking. He think that’s adorable. Cater is scared of her because she treats him like Sylvain LMAO. Ingrid probably also sees Ace in the same way. I think she actually likes Deuce and would help him where she could. 

Savannaclaw

Caspar von Bergliez - Savannaclaw has the most because I put the “punch first, ask later” characters into this lmao. Caspar being the most telling. Ironically, the Savannaclaw characters who are named are anything but that lmao. Leona is either dismissive or annoyed by Caspar’s energy. Ruggie thinks Caspar is hilarious. Jack and Caspar would probably get along really well, with Jack probably becoming more noisy/enthusiastic with a friend like Caspar. 

Felix Hugo Fraldarius - Leona and Felix might get along well, especially with how Felix dislikes chivalry. Leona, however, will be irritated if Felix kept trying to fight him--as Felix does. Felix probably doesn’t think much of Ruggie, and probably likes Jack a lot because of his strength. Jack and Felix will likely agree to disagree on underhanded techniques. Though I think Felix thinks it’s situational. Underhanded techniques in matches are a no-go, but underhanded techniques in a life-or-death sort of thing is a yay. 

Raphael Kirsten - Again, “punch first, ask later” character. He also has that hardworking trait, because he wants to help his family. Probably gets along well with Jack the most tbh. Ruggie probably doesn’t care much about Raphael, until Raphael comes up to him asking for saving tips and stuff. Then Ruggie would see him in a different light. Leona just thinks “great another one.”

Leonie Pinelli - Leonie is primarily here because of her tenacity. She definitely gets along well with Ruggie, and they share tips on how to save money/reuse items. Leonie’s likely to hang out with Ruggie the most, when he’s not with Leona. I think Leonie is pretty 50/50 with him. Like she can respect him, but she might not agree with everything he thinks. Definitely gets along pretty well with Jack though. 

Balthus von Albrecht - Leona probably thinks “why did I get a third one?” He probably doesn’t do to well with Leona because Balthus is a very loud guy. Ruggie definitely thinks he’s amusing, and is shook when Balthus admits about his debts and his need to pay back. Another one for the “Ruggie-senpai how do you save money” (I’m also a part of this club). Also gets along well with Jack. (Jack can try to deny it but he’s actually a person who is easy to get along with.)

Octavinelle

Mercedes von Martritz - The most terrifying Octavinelle member. The Donna of Octavinelle. Look, Lorenz is terrified of her. She can still see the Death Knight as Emile, her little brother. She mothers the whole of Octavinelle, and Azul probably pretends he doesn’t like it but actually enjoys it. She can out squeeze Floyd, and now Floyd is probably also a little terrified of her. Jade finds it all funny. 

Ashe Ubert - Honestly considered Ignihyde and Diasomnia from this boy before I ultimately chose Octavinelle. He fits in with the Octavinelle trio with his skill sets, but unlike them--Ashe is only mean to the people who he thinks are deserving of it. He uses his skills for good, and he’s a very Robin Hood character if you think about it. Also Ashe in a tux is sending me, help. Floyd probably enjoys threatening him with squeezes. Azul and Jade appreciate Ashe’s honest hard work, and probably enjoy it even more when he’s willing to use his skills to get back at others. He’s definitely one of the lead workers at Mostro Lounge--when people know he’s on schedule to cook, Mostro Lounge is flooded and Azul is happy. 

Yuri Leclerc - Yuri, Azul and Jade on the same side is terrifying. Like can you imagine the amount of double crossing they’d do? But here’s the thing, Yuri is also incredibly generous to those he thinks are deserving--which I think is what makes him suit Octavinelle. Yuri especially gets along well with Jade. He probably flirts with the Octavinelle trio. Azul and Jade would probably be impressed because I imagine Yuri can say what Floyd wants to hear so that Floyd would listen to him. 

Scarabia

Petra Macneary - I wasn’t too sure where to put Petra. I almost put her in Heartslabyul because she’s pretty strict onto herself, and I almost also put her in Pomefiore because she’s a huntress... but it’s essentially because she’s a huntress that I decided to put her in Scarabia. I figured as a huntress, she probably has that ‘deliberation’ aspect of Scarabia. Jamil respects Petra a lot for her craft, Kalim thinks she’s slightly scary but pretty okay all around. 

Annette Fantine Dominic - Annette probably wanted to be in Diasomnia, but she won’t complain and will instead work really hard in Scarabia. She’s probably Jamil’s favourite junior because he can relate to her strive to work hard and prove herself. In turn, she admires Jamil the most from the way he handles himself and Kalim. Annette enjoys her time with Kalim though, they often have small food appreciation sessions though. She also tries to help tutor Kalim, but Kalim is one tough nut to crack. 

Claude von Riegen - Jamil hates Claude HAHAHA. Primarily because Claude figured out that Jamil is definitely hiding something, and he’ll spend the rest of his high school(?) life figuring it out--much to Jamil’s despair. Jamil can at least appreciate that Claude helps bring up Scarabia’s average (with Annette). Claude and Kalim definitely get along well because they probably both enjoy parties. 

Pomefiore

Dorothea Arnault - Um hell yeah! She’s probably a popular MagiCam cover artist, with a couple of her own original songs. She’s pretty and classy. She and Vil would definitely also get along--they’d probably exchange beauty tips and stuff. She probably would have a soft spot for Epel, because they have similar roots, but she’d probably take him aside to tell him he should take advantage of his looks to win. She probably thinks Rook is weird. 

Ferdinand von Aegir - His appreciation for beauty is Ferdi’s primary reason for being in Pomefiore. Vil probably appreciates Ferdinand a lot more than what anyone thinks because he has a fresh and sweet admiration for beauty. Ferdi and Rook are pretty okay because Ferdi would probably not? call him out. Ferdi and Epel is a bit of a 50/50, wherein Ferdi probably unknowingly insults Epel, Epel fights back, and now they get along. 

Lorenz Hellman Gloucester - Lorenz and Rook probably get along well because they both have a similar appreciation for beauty. Lorenz will be a bit confused as to why Rook likes to stalk people? But other than that, Lorenz’s position in Pomefiore is because he appreciates beauty and considers himself beautiful. Vil probably thinks Lorenz could stand to try harder at it, but as long as Lorenz is trying then Vil has no issue with him. Epel doesn’t like him, “grrr eat the nobility” (Doro is proud of her son).

Hilda Valentine Goneril - I’m going at this because Hilda is really talented in the arts. ALSO CAN YOU IMAGINE THE POWER OF VIL SCHOENHEIT AND HILDA GONERIL? TOGETHER? Oh my god, Hilda’s my favourite FE3H girl, and seeing her side by side with Vil is sending me! They’ll be so popular, like can you imagine Hilda making Vil’s accessories? Them, featuring on each other’s accounts? Match made in beauty influencer heaven. Epel would start out disliking her, but then when he sees how strong Hilda is, he’d start to like her more. Hilda just think he’s cute. She also finds Rook strange. 

Ignatz Victor - His position in Pomefiore is also primarily because of his artistic sensibilities. He’s probably flirted with most of Pomefiore just because he keeps bringing up how beautiful they are. Vil probably commissioned him once to do a painting, and Ignatz became an overnight celebrity on MagiCam. He can get along with Rook, and a little with Epel. 

Ignihyde

Bernadetta von Varley - I MEAN. Where else would I put Bernie? She probably is shut off in Ignihyde, and is terrified of Idia because she think he’s out to get her--because whenever she leaves her room he’s also there. (In Idia’s defense, he think SHE’S out to get him because she’s always there when he leaves his room... it’s a never ending cycle with these two).

Linhardt von Hevring - I almost put him in Diasomnia, and honestly I could still put him there... but the reason I chose Ignihyde, is because I think his love for research outweighs his interest in the actual magical feats of Diasomnia. Also, if I remember from... Chapter 1? We didn’t see any Ignihyde students in the cafeteria, so I’ll believe that they all prefer to just stay in unless it’s an important event (which suits Lin very well). I can definitely see Linhardt being interested in Diasomnia though. He’s probably sleeping buddies with Silver. 

Constance von Nuvelle - I almost put her in Heartslabyul BUT THEN I REALIZED! Constance is basically Ignihyde personified. She’s more Ignihyde than Idia himself LMAO. Like she’s all quiet, and shy during class, but when she retreats to Ignihyde’s dark dorms--she’s loud, bossy and generally unlike them all. Idia gets a whiplash whenever he sees the 180. Ortho thinks she’s fun. 

Diasomnia

Sylvain Jose Gautier - Okay honestly, I almost put him in Pomefiore, but then I realized how much Diasomnia suited him more. LISTEN, everyone would be convinced that Sylvain is definitely Pomefiore material, only for everyone to be surprised when he’s put in Diasomnia because of how smart he actually is. Though he acts a little bit like the black sheep of Diasomnia because of how unlike them he is--he’s definitely going to stun a lot when he comes out with really high grades. Malleus would be impressed. Lilia would just know. Silver is asleep. Sylvain and Sebek... I can see Sylvain having no issue with him but not the other way around.

Lysithea von Ordelia - OF COURSE I’m going to put Lysithea in this house. She’s the little spitfire and darling of Diasomnia. I can see Malleus being really fond of her. In Lysithea’s pursuit of knowledge, I can imagine Lysithea would bug Malleus a lot for help--and Malleus would genuinely be pleased that this tiny little human bothers him so much. He’d love to teach her. Lilia would probably tease Lys often, but would always help her when she needs it. Lys would fight Sebek, and is pretty neutral to Silver.

Marianne von Edmund - Marianne thinks she deserves to be in this house because of her bloodline, and it probably makes her very sad. Lilia probably realizes what she feels and does go out of his way to cheer her up. Lilia probably pushes her towards Silver a lot though, because Silver is a pretty low maintenance friend. Marianne and Silver would also get along really well because they both get along well with animals, and spend a lot of time just sitting in the middle of a forest somewhere--just doing that. Marianne is probably scared of Malleus (and knowing her situation, Mal probably won’t push). On the other hand, Marianne is the one person Sebek can’t fight.  

Hapi - If she can summon magical beings with her sighs, then I can see her in Diasomnia just so that Malleus and Lilia could watch out for her. I can definitely see her bantering with Lilia, and just chilling with Silver. She probably... gets irritated with Sebek actually. They fight each other a lot with the use of petty insults lmao. Sebek does not appreciate it, but Lilia finds it funny so he sometimes eggs on their fights haha. 

Special Thought: Byleth/s are probably Diasomnia graduates.

“Don’t do this,” you begged Doyoung, eyeing the second hotel keycard that he was strategically holding by his side, away from you. 

He tried to hand you the other keycard again, the hotel room number matching the one on the door beside you, “It’ll be good for you two. Maybe you’ll actually be able to get along after this.”

When you huffed at him, blowing your hair out of your face in the process, he rolled his eyes and grabbed your hand, placing the keycard into it and closing your fingers around it. “I hate you, you know,” you pouted at him as he started making his way down the hall.

He held up his hands in defeat, “Look, I didn’t allocate rooms. I just lost rock paper scissors.” So they planned this, you thought. Devils.

When he disappeared into his room, that he shared with Johnny, you looked around; all the other guys had already entered their shared rooms and you wondered who would be willing to swap.

You rolled your eyes as the messages continued from the rest of the group and opened the door using the keycard Doyoung had forced you to take.

“What the hell!” You were startled by the deep voice you were greeted with, its loudness immediately shocking you, freezing you in place as you watched Jaehyun quickly throw his shirt over his head. When you finally looked away, down at the floor, you let the door shut behind you as you dragged your suitcase into the room, letting it rest against the wall of the small corridor. “I was changing,” his tone is still slightly aggressive.

“Sorry,” you mumble, not really sorry at all. He watched you for a moment before looking back down at his suitcase on the bed and zipping it back up, walking over to you to place it beside yours, almost pushing up against you in order to fit it between the table and your own case.

“So,” he starts, looking up and down your body obviously. He’s still way too close for your liking, having not yet stepped away after putting his suitcase down, “they weren’t kidding.”

“Unfortunately,” you deadpan, making your way to the bed Jaehyun had previously been standing at the edge of and dumping your stuff on it.

“Maybe someone will switch with- Hey!” He jutted his chin up at you from where he was standing in the entryway of the bathroom.

“What?” You raise your eyebrow at him, knowing exactly what he was talking about.

He points at the bed you were now happily plopping yourself down on the end of, “That’s my bed.”

“Oh, really?” You narrow your eyes at him as you dramatically turn from side to side, looking for something. “Because I don’t see your name on it.”

He cocks his head to the side at you, his face serious, “I had my stuff on it.”

You smile cheerily, telling him in a sing-song voice that, “Well, now my stuff is on it.”

Jaehyun just turns from you, already heading into the bathroom, “I’m gonna shower before we leave.” He pokes his head around the door, “Don’t come in.”

“Wouldn’t dream of it,” you furrow your brows at him in disgust, rolling your eyes when he shuts the door, a little too loudly.

The restaurant Johnny had picked out for dinner was conveniently located beside your hotel, and somehow you had managed to finish your hair and makeup at the same time Jaehyun had finished showering and dressing.

“Put the heater on before you leave,” you say, not looking at him as you step out of the room, slipping your keycard into your clutch, your jacket sitting securely in the crook of your arm.

“Do it yourself,” he makes his way towards you, flipping open his wallet to make sure he had his own keycard. You don’t say anything and let the door close between you, opting to make your way to the elevators instead.

Looking up from his wallet, he realises you’ve already left and his jaw sets in frustration, begrudgingly turning on the heater before reopening the door and following you to the elevators.

You try to minimise your reaction when you realise he’s walking to the elevator at the exact moment it arrives, and without even hiding it you press the ‘close doors’ button, a smirk on your face.

He fixes his gaze on you as he slips between the metal doors, the two of you silently agreeing not to talk the entire ride down to the lobby. Instead, you stand in silence, facing the mirrored doors. It’s the first time you’ve properly been able to see what he’s wearing, having refused to give him the satisfaction of catching you staring back in your shared room.

He has a jacket hung over his arm, and the fact that you’re doing the same thing annoys you slightly. The white shirt he’s wearing is unbuttoned, but tucked into his black pants. You noticed he hadn’t bothered styling his hair, focusing mostly on his clothes and occasionally applying random products to his face in the mirror in the bathroom. Yet, still, his hair looked perfect. It made you mad how good he looked with such little effort.

“Take a picture, it’ll last longer,” he smirks, his eyes flitting to yours in the dirty reflection of the elevator door.

“So original,” you deadpan, stepping out of the elevator as it arrives at the lobby. You can see Doyoung and Johnny making their way out of the hotel ahead of you. They must have caught the elevator just before us, you thought.

Due to his longer legs, Jaehyun easily overtakes you, not even sparing you a glance as he paces his way towards the doors. Narrowing your eyes at his retreating figure, you quicken your pace, huffing as you get to the revolving door at the same time as him, pushing on the glass and forcing yourself out before him as soon as the gap is wide enough. 

You end up ahead of him, briskly walking towards the restaurant, unable to see the smug smirk that’s taken over his face as he jogs to catch up to you, “Trying to beat me? How childish, y/n.”

“I just don’t want to be late,” you lie, looking in your purse for your phone, having forgotten to put on your watch before leaving the room.

He reaches the door before you still and opens it widely, waiting for you with a grin. You quirk an eyebrow at him as you go to walk inside, before he salutes you, slipping in ahead and allowing the door to shut in your face.

You glare at him as he laughs, immediately catching the attention of the waitress at the front desk and asking her where Johnny’s table was. She eagerly smiles at him, already entranced by his godly looks - did you really just say that? - and shows him to the table. You huff as you wrench the door open and stalk after them, following Jaehyun to the table.

When you arrive, you’re greeted with hello’s from Johnny, Doyoung and Taeyong, who had already arrived. Jaehyun turned around as soon as they called your name, and offered you a smile, a challenging sparkle in his eye, “Oh, y/n! How nice of you to join us.”

You smiled when Johnny elbowed him in the side, and hung your jacket off the chair at the other end of the table from where Jaehyun was sitting. You smile warmly at Johnny, “Lovely restaurant choice, Johnny Suh. Shouldn't have expected anything less.”

You engage in polite conversation with Johnny and Taeyong, as Doyoung and Jaehyun converse at the opposite end of the table. When the rest arrive, almost all together nearly five minutes later, you order food, opting to purchase a bunch of share plates. While you wait for the food, you laugh with Donghyuck when Mark rants about how much he hates rooming with Donghyuck. “I’d switch with you, but we both snore so,” Mark shrugs, his eyes sympathetic.

You laugh, “No, it’s okay. Rooming with Jaehyun isn’t so bad.”

Hearing you say his name immediately catches Jaehyun’s attention, and his eyes are intense as he tries to work out what you had said, not hearing anything other than his name from the other side of the long table. You narrow your eyes at him, and he does the same before looking back at Jungwoo, his eyes immediately softening at the smiling boy, his smile sweet. Part of you would kill to have him look at you the same way. No, it wouldn't, you correct yourself.

When the food arrives, perfectly timed to be served together on a wheeled cart, there’s chaos as everyone tries to get what they want, until Taeyong suggests everyone moves to where their favourite foods are. You stay seated, your favourite dish sitting right in front of you, and you pout as Mark gets up to go sit on the other side of Johnny.

“What? There’s pizza,” he grins, the seat beside you now vacant.

You could tell who replaced him immediately by the smell of his cologne, which you had watched him apply at the desk in your hotel room.

“What are you doing?” You look at him, and he doesn’t miss the mixture of concern and surprise in your eyes.

“I like this,” he states simply and holds up the bowl right beside him, eagerly scooping the food onto his plate with his chopsticks.

You both talked to the other people beside you rather than each other, the dinner continuing with only a few glares and profanities. You can feel one of your shoes slipping off your ankle and you reach down to fasten it, your foot accidentally slipping off your knee when you lose grip of the strap, kicking the table leg quite harshly.

You hiss and grab the toe of your shoe at the same time Jaehyun groans in pain, his hand immediately reaching under the table to rub his leg. Needless to say, you hadn’t kicked the table’s leg, but rather Jaehyun’s. 

“What the fuck, y/n,” he says through gritted teeth, obviously still in pain.

“Sorry, my foot slipped,” you stutter, your eyes wide in shock.

He nudges your knee with his, his jaw set, “Oops. Accident.”

Johnny, who’s sitting beside him, grips his arm, “Dude. Just drop it. She probably didn’t mean it.”

“Probably,” he mutters, going back to eating, purposefully not looking at you.

After dinner and dessert and a walk around the streets of the city, abandoned at this time of night, you all decide to call it a night, walking back through the lobby doors of your hotel.

“Remember, we have to be up early tomorrow to head to the airport, since it’s an early flight,” Doyoung looks pointedly at Donghyuck. “No staying up late.”

You hear Donghyuck mutter to Mark, “He knows I don’t give a shit what he says, right?”

“You better fucking fall asleep or I’m gonna kill you,” Mark hisses back, and you try to contain your laughter as they both try to hold back their own, with Donghyuck failing miserably.

The elevators are slightly too crowded with all of you, so you opt to catch the second elevator with Donghyuck and Mark, joking with them about how Donghyuck won’t fall asleep until almost 5am. You don’t even realise Jaehyun is still standing with you that you're almost surprised to see him standing outside your door when you say goodnight to the youngest members of your group.

He doesn’t say anything as he opens the door for you, and you’re immediately met with a cool breeze, making you shiver, “What the-”

“I told you to turn on the heater,” you immediately turn to Jaehyun, narrowing your eyes accusingly.

“I did,” he spits back, walking into the room to look at the control panel. You follow him and nudge him lightly to make him move. He looks down at you with a slight frown but moves nonetheless. He flicks the switch that changes the heater from ‘cool’ to ‘heat’, the button now useless. “It’s broken.”

“No shit, Sherlock,” you spit, immediately moving to the desk and picking up the phone, searching the directory for the number of the front desk.

“No one’s going to pick up,” he shrugs, opting to switch off the ‘heater’ so it won't continue blowing out cold air.

You turn to him and open you mouth to reply, but he beats you to it, “Y/n, it’s almost midnight. They’ll all have gone home already.”

You exhale, realising he’s right and letting your arm drop the phone back into its place. “Fine. Um,” you look helplessly at the open suitcase on your bed, all your clothes more suited to hot weather than cold.

You both change silently, alternating bathroom usage to prepare for bed, and from the heated bathroom, you run from the open door to your bed, diving under the covers and shivering slightly.

From his bed, you hear him mumble sleepily, “Can you turn the light off, please?” You reach out and turn off the light above your bed, the light in the bathroom still on. “Y/n. The light.”

“It’s the bathroom light, gimme a sec,” you huff and throw the covers back, slipping off the bed and walking to the bathroom. Jaehyun had been in the bathroom before you, so you hadn’t turned on the light, and that meant that now you were trying to look for the switch.

“Y/n,” you hear Jaehyun say. When he doesn’t get a response, he sits up in his bed, turning around to search for you. Rolling his eyes at your stupidity, he gets up and walks to the set of switches beside the door, flicking off the light to the bathroom.

“God?” You whisper, and he feels his lips twitch up in the corners at the funny comment, before suppressing it.

“Well, me,” he says from outside the bathroom, “But same thing, I guess.” He smiles; he can practically hear you rolling your eyes at his comment.

When you walk out of the bathroom, your bed is closest so you easily find it, hugging yourself to preserve what little heat you have. There’s a small thud and the sound of Jaehyun groaning again, and you cant help but giggle at him.

“Right where you kicked me, too,” he says through gritted teeth.

“Goodnight, Jaehyun,” you make a point of saying goodnight, subtly telling him to shut up.

“Whatever, y/n,” you hear the rustling of the sheets as he gets into bed.

Hours later, you can’t tell exactly what time it is, but you woke up because you were just so cold. You’d put on extra layers before bed, but it felt as though the temperature had actually decreased since you’d first gone to sleep.

You wriggle around under the covers, trying to pull the duvet over your neck tightly, before huffing and kicking the covers off you. You stood up and grabbed the duvet from the bed, rustling slightly as you wrapped yourself in it, forming a white bedsheet burrito. You threw yourself onto the bed and tried to get comfortable again.

You had already closed your eyes, waiting for sleep to consume you again, when you felt your teeth chattering once again. You were surprised to hear the sound of rustling of sheets from the other bed, and a short huff as Jaehyun stood up. He’d only gone to sleep in a pair of sweatpants and a black tank top, but he seemingly had no issue with facing the frigid winds of your hotel room.

You assumed he had just needed to go to the bathroom, but you could just make out his figure as he picked you up, the sheets wrapped around you falling as he threw you onto his bed. You let out a small yelp before appreciating the warmth of his bed. You were shocked when he climbed in beside you, wrapping an arm around your shoulders and pulling you against him. You felt your eyes widen, “J-Jaehyun-”

“Just shut up and sleep,” he mumbled, his eyes already closing, and his head leant down slightly so that his cheek rested against the top of your head.

You were surprised by how easily you became comfortable with him; the guy you had fought with, argued with, raced against, rolled your eyes at. The guy that hated your guts was now sleeping in the same bed as you. And you actually enjoyed it. You were sure now, Jaehyun was hot in every sense of the word, his body heat easily warming you, his natural scent encasing you, his thumb rubbing comforting circles on your arm was the only sign he hadn’t fallen asleep yet.

“You’re not so bad, Jung Jaehyun,” you mumbled against his chest, your hand playing with the fabric of his shirt in the dark. Even through the material, you could feel his stomach tense at your touch.

“What did I just say, y/n,” he replied, his other hand reaching to his stomach to rest on top of yours, stilling your movements. When you let your hand fall limp, he didn’t remove his hand, and it was a shame it was dark and you couldn’t see the smile of contentment that had made its way onto his face as he fell asleep with you in his arms.

P2 of the Primer - Minho!

Fandom primer for fandom feels.

So, Minho, dance leader!

Minho (Lee Know, Lino...) is the Stray Kids’ Marilla Cuthbert. Very controlled with showing his feelings. Wants to feed everyone. Hard working and practical. Dresses like an old woman who is constantly freezing.

His lack of desire to embarrass himself on screen is very relatable to all anxious perfectionist introverts. He often gets confused for shy or cold because of this, when he will just not do silly things in front of the camera if he’s not sure of the result. His terrible art? He knows it’s terrible and that’s acceptable. His amazing dancing? He knows it’s amazing and that’s acceptable. Things he’s not sure about which include being vulnerable in front of strangers? NOT ACCEPTABLE. I respect that. So this “primer” will not perpetuate any “mean-ho” ideas thank you bye. (Felix calls him tsundere so if you see me use it, it’s not my fault.)

Anyway Minho is a dancer. That was his job before he joined SKZ (he toured with bts etc) and it was his primary role in SKZ for a while. When he first joined he wasn’t a good singer or rapper, but he would have been ok if he wasn’t constantly shaking because he was convinced he’d get kicked out. Which is valid because he did get kicked out.

oh also - I will treat his and Felix’s story as if the elimination wasn’t a setup just because whatever else was going on, they thought it was real.

His singing voice wasn’t great so he was asked to rap instead. He had never done it but said he’d be willing to try. They were given... what? No time? To prepare for that change and famously, Changbin rapped backup for him and Han held his hand and timed the beat with it.

so i cried, and then he did get eliminated because he messed up the lyrics next time so i cried more and then he sent a final message and i FUCKING BAWLED.

To Han: “The time I failed, was it because you weren’t holding my hand?”

Changbin helped him a lot during practice for the second song and they both felt so bad for different reasons. Minho kept saying he was sorry that someone younger than him had to be helping him and that he was failing despite it. “If I had slept one hour less, would I have been able to do it better?” and Changbin with “What did I do for him, that I couldn’t teach him better?” Anyway this show was torture but I’m gonna go back to the good stuff now.

Minho got to come back and they were a band happily ever after. Before the elimination tho he helped the other members with their dance routines. So, shit i learned about kpop peripherally: most bands are made by formula like “2 members rap, 2 members dance, 2 members sing” or something like that. Minho could dance and Changbin could rap and Seungmin could sing and the goal is rarely to get everyone to be great at everything. And Minho was like “nah.” And he made it his goal to make everyone as good a dancer as possible. So while others were helping him with singing and rapping, he was helping them with dancing.

For me a very important scene in the show was when Bang Chan kinda lost it at IN’s lack of ability to dance and he had everyone stand aside and kept telling IN to try again and Minho gave Bang Chan side-eye and went over to IN to teach him how to do it better.

and Minho’s face just saying “you’re not helping” as he walked over in clear defiance of any hierarchy.

So Minho’s whole approach to the group was “I will help everyone be better at dancing”. According to Chan he picked Minho with the idea that Minho would be in charge of dancing. Which is a big fucking deal. For Bang Chan personally and band as a whole.

Changbin asking this question, who else. Chan was like “that phrasing doe?” But eventually:

(Changbin is listening but also not giving a shit, he’s just waiting for Chan to be done so he can ask what his role is and be told he’s the visual, Minho feeds him so fucking well.)

In group dances Minho tends to not stick out. In fact, Minho would really like it if no one stuck out. His goal is to have them all as synchronized as possible and he’s really good at it.

Oh yeah. He’s very good at his job. He has also gotten SO MUCH better at singing. I don’t think he gets enough credit for how fucking hard he must have worked on that on top of everything else they do. I know the color of his voice doesn’t pop out like Seungmin or IN’s, but he can hold his own now. (His parts in Slump and Neverending story for example. Slump in particular because apparently Han wrote that whole ass song to fit HIS high notes and everyone just went “I guess” and then Han said “but I’ll only rap in it”.)

But enough about how much I respect him as an artist. Let’s talk about how if he is your favorite in the band, there’s a 99% chance your kink is being spit on followed by a good aftercare. Look I don’t make the rules. Just accept it like Hyunjin has.

Did he tickle him after that? Who knows. Not Hyunjin.

but he feeds him well so it’s all good.

In fact, other than making everyone dance well, Minho’s second mission in life is to make sure everyone is well fed. (He is definitely that grandmother who will tell you you’ve gained weight and then get upset when you don’t eat everything she made for you.)

Back in the olden days Minho made lunch and wrote a lovely thank you letter to Seungmin and things were great. Now they jokingly call each other the divorced couple and even though they are roommates they both claim they can’t be roommates. I have a theory that could be way off but I will type it up here anyway. My theory hearkens back to the first paragraph which is that Minho doesn’t like doing things in front of the camera when he’s not sure how it’s gonna end up. And I think Seungmin for his own reasons isn’t very expressive either. And maybe sometimes on camera he didn’t react like Minho needed him to. And it ended in Minho adjusting his on camera attitude. Again, I could be way off, but the way I see it, there is safety in teasing. The same way he’ll show off his giraffe picture and be like “isn’t it beautiful” when he clearly has functional eyes, he can show his friendship with Seungmin and say “lol isn’t it horrible” and he gets the expected feedback and it’s fine. It’s better than being seen as overly needy or reaching out and not getting what you want. And tbh I think he and Seungmin pingpong this at each other and this is why every tsundere needs a Felix or Han to hug them despite the shit that’s coming out of their mouth.

But Seungmin can still recognize him by his tiddies so clearly they’re fine off camera.

As far as fan stuff goes, Minho has a regular live where he eats delicious food and talks to fans. Sometimes fans are really shitty and he plays it off but he is human and y’all need to get your shit together. But since all his fans are subs it all works out in the end. (Go on, tell me he’s your bias and you’re not a sub, I won’t believe you.)

ok so i legit know nothing about apple music despite having had a mac since 2016 and an iphone since 2018. pls explain them basics for me.

edit: i read this again and its highkey confusing af. if you can figure anything out from this i applaud you. but eyah i am definitely available if you want more explanation since this did.... the bare minimum...... k i n d a

okay ! apple music is actually very easy to navigate after you’ve found the features once so i’ll give you a nice lil run down on them! 

(so i did this on mobile so the pictures will probably be fucking stupid but it got really long so i actually got out of bed and got my computer so i could add the read more thing)

so i’ve had apple music since 2014ish so i dont entirely know what the initial set up stuff is like anymore but they’ll obvs guide you through that and then toss you into the app. so i’ll take over from the moment you’re in the LIBRARY page.

this is roughly what your first impression will be (your sections at the top will be different bc i altered mine for my preferences. i included a pic to show all the options apple music gives you to sort the entirety of your library).

most likely they will have had you select artists/songs you like already so that’s dope. to add more go to the SEARCH function (which i’m sure you would’ve figured out easily bc you’re not 3).

apple music has the ability to search their entire database or search within the songs you already own (v helpful when you want to locate a song without scrolling through everything). so obvs select to search from apple music and just look for whatever artists or song you want and add them.

you can also search for playlists (like on spotify) that were created by users but please. lower your expectations for them. do not go in with high hopes bc you will probs be let down. 

so we’ve covered the library page (mostly i’ll be back to it) and the search function. the for you page is basically like spotify’s except it’s a lot less tailored. apple music doesn’t process their data nearly as well as spotify does so the playlists they curate aren’t the best (fr i haven’t listened to fob since 2015 and it still gets recommended to me in the favourites mix playlist)

but essentially the for you page has the playlists that get made for you, hold your recently played albums/playlists, albums they recommend based on your listening habits/playlists, and other kind of stuff.

imma be tbh w you though i only use the library and search pages bc the other stuff isn’t really tailored at all

but in the BROWSE page it’s all generic stuff. things that are in no way specific to you and are just trending albums or songs, top # in [country], new stuff, and some world-specific playlists (ex: summer themed playlists).

in RADIO it’s literally that. radio shows, radios you created based on songs, broadcast shows (sportsnet, tsn, etc).

that covers the stuff to do with the main pages. i’m willing to bet you’ll use library and search and rarely touch the others but who knows.

but going back to library bc it’s where you will absolutely spend most of your time...

downloaded music: holds all the music you download for offline listening. separates music the exact same way, so it’s separated playlists, artists, albums, songs, mvs, etc.

*composers: literally sorts by the person who composed the song idk you won’t use it i promise

*compilations: i dont actually understand man but it’s dumb and you’re not sorting by compilations i know you won’t so who cares

genres: separates songs by their genres (so pop, kpop, rock, r&b, whatever. you probs won’t sort by this either i only have it bc it lets me play every kpop song i own)

music videos: puts all the music videos in one place. apple music has music videos so you can save those to your library and watch them in app if you want. this tab just lets you keep them all together. idk.

songs: is literally your entire song list. every song or music video you own is here. every genre every language every album every artist every single song.

albums: sorta all your stuff by the albums they’re in.

artists: i think you get the gist but it sorta all your songs by the artist (i put a pic above just to make the post a lil bit shorter)

playlists: obviously where your playlists are stored. (the recently played one is bs don’t rely on it).

PERSONALLY i think apple musics playlist function is superior. but that’s my opinion.

this is what creating a new playlist is like. you have an optional name, optional desc, and optional cover image. when you add music you can do it from your library, your for you page, browse, or you can search for songs. personally i think it’s better bc unlike spotify if you search for an album and want to add three songs you won’t have to search it up three times because the app kicks you back to the ‘add songs’ page every time.

SO. within the song. in red is where you find all your actions (delete the song, download it, ‘love’ it, suggest less like it, add to playlist, whatever)

in blue is your queue, your upcoming, where you control if you’re shuffling/looping/repeating. you can also scroll down (up?) and view your history.

in green is just the info abt where your music is playing. speakers, bluetooth, headphones, whatever.

and in purple is my favourite feature! lyrics! it scrolls along with the song, highlights which line is currently being sung, and you are able to tap any line in the lyrics and it will jump to the specific line.

that’s really all that’s important. i mean apple music also has a profile feature but it’s really not used so.

idk. if there’s anything unclear (bc god knows this was terrible and missed things) or you want more info feel free to ask

how do you make poses for the roof? i'm not sure how i can know if the sims will clip into the roof or float

honestly i just...eyeball it...because all roofs are different and you can’t put them into blender so. i just winged it lmao...i just made a pose that looked like it could’ve been lou climbing out the window, only the rig was still ground level, and then i used alt + 9 to lift the teleporter onto the roof as best as i could. that’s why it probably wouldn’t be a very practical pose to release, because i have no way of making it easy to use

unpopular opera opinion…???

literally nobody is going to care about this, but Il Trovatore always gets me fired up (I’ve spent the better part of 14 years contemplating this, ok), so here are all the reasons Count di Luna [the villain] should have gotten the girl, Leonora, instead of Manrico [the hero]:

Dmitri Hvorostovsky. seriously, look up his appearances as Count di Luna if you haven’t seen him already (or look at the link several points below) and then show me a comparably beautiful Manrico. you’ll probably have a tough time of it, if you can even find one at all.

…now that the shallower stuff is out of the way, I’ma get to my main point and say that Manrico x Leonora isn’t any more healthy than Count x Leonora. sure the count is kind of an obsessive stalker but Manrico demonstrates the exact same behaviors and it’s apparently ok because she “loves” him I guess

Manrico is so insecure that when Leonora accidentally mistakes di Luna for him in the dark, he instantly assumes she was cheating on him or something. like, instantly. I’d also like to point out that by the beginning of the opera, Manrico and Leonora have only met approximately once (maybe twice??), and are not an item yet. they’re just kinda mutually into each other, although the depth of their attraction is questionable. the Count is implied to have been courting Leonora for a lot longer, or at least having admired her instead of running into her one time at a tourney and dedicating a song or two to her

Manrico picks a fight with the Count offstage and loses so badly his mom goes looking for his corpse. when she finds him barely alive instead, she nurses him back to health. except when Ruiz shows up and tells Manrico that Leonora’s going to become a nun bc she thinks he’s dead, he promptly ignores Azucena’s warnings—ya know, how he just finished recovering from wounds that probably should have killed him???—and runs off to throw himself headlong into another dangerous situation. (and speaking of which, the Count plotting to snatch Leonora away from God was bad enough, but Manrico did have the exact same idea)

edit: I just realized that the entire time Manrico was recovering, which has to have been quite awhile if he’s in good enough shape to go running off like that, he never even thought about the impact his alleged death would have on Leonora, since it comes as such a Shock when Ruiz tells him she’s going to join a convent. like. did he never even bother checking in on her or letting her know in any way that he was still alive?? I guess he just expects her life to stop or something whenever he’s not a part of it??? what a colossal douchebonnet

the Count gets a better love song to Leonora than Manrico ever sings: “The light of her smile / makes the light of the stars seem pale […] May the light of her gaze drive off / the tempest raging in my heart”. (this link also contains the kickass fight song he gets afterward, in which he rallies his spirits to defy everyone and steal Leonora. my favorite line is “Not even a god, my lady, / can take you from me now!”)

just like he ran out on his mother to reclaim Leonora, Manrico turns around and leaves Leonora at the altar to go save his mom despite Leonora’s warnings and falls right into the count’s trap and gets captured. tbh that’s one of the funniest scenes in the opera because there’s “Di quella pira” to rally the troops and then immediately after the aria ends… sad oboe music. there wasn’t even a struggle song or an onstage scuffle. this idiot has never actually won any of the battles he fights in this opera, with the minor exception of stealing Leonora from her nun friends

by contrast, di Luna has won pretty much all the battles he fights in this opera, and is also clever enough to figure out who Azucena is (with a little help from Ferrando and the poor woman’s dementia) and use her as bait to lure out Manrico

while Leonora is hanging around outside Manrico’s prison cell singing about how much she loves him and how there’s never been a love stronger than hers and how she’s 100% willing to trade her life for his, Manrico’s busy singing about how much he wants to fuCKING DIE (no joke, literally, “Ah, how slow is death, / how slow in coming, / for one who wants to die!”)

Leonora did swear [before God, in fact] that she’d marry the Count in exchange for freeing Manrico, so they were canon for the .5 seconds it took for her to secretly drink poison so she wouldn’t have to actually follow through. then while the Count sings about how happy he is and can’t believe his luck and wow all his dreams are coming true, Leonora sings about how happy she is to die now that her actual bf is safe

let me just break that down for you. the Count is happy for approximately one song in the entire damn opera, two if you count his love song since he’s reminiscing about Leonora, and then she goes and breaks his heart. and before you tell me he doesn’t care about her as much as he does about possessing her, name one (1) time in the entire opera Manrico doesn’t act like Leonora is His Girl™

speaking of which, Manrico is such a god damn self-absorbed mama’s boy that Leonora has given her life to free him from jail and shows up to deliver the news, but then he gets all insecure about how she gained that favor and jumps to mad conclusions.

no, really. when Leonora tells him to leave, with zero cuts in dialogue, he tells her, to her face: “I care nothing for my life. / Now, woman, look into my eyes! / How have you done this? / And at what price? / You won’t speak? Monstrous thought! / From my rival! I understand, I understand! / This wretch has sold her love…”

…and then he proceeds to shout her down while she is literally dying, rejecting her and her attempt at explanation when she is prostrate at his feet begging him to just shut the fuck up and listen, and only when she points out that he should be praying for her instead of cursing her, does it occur to him that maybe, JUST MAYBE, something might be wrong??? what the hell?? terrible husband material.

after finally seeing the error of his ways, Manrico still doesn’t fully catch on to what she wants for him, because he proceeds to stick around and wait for Leonora to die… so obviously the Count goes through with his execution and her sacrifice was for nothing, all because he was too much of a tool to believe she actually loved him the first time. how fragile does your confidence have to be for you to be THAT much of an asshole about fidelity??? holy shit

edit: also it’s worth noting that the Count stumbles upon the two of them after Leonora reveals she’s dying and would have every right to interrupt since he [justifiably] hates Manrico’s guts and Leonora is supposed to be his fiancée but instead he just lets the scene play out like a respectful onlooker

yeah, sooooo that’s why Manrico doesn’t deserve Leonora and the Count should’ve gotten a better chance. but hey at least he lived and they died?? even though that’s really more a curse than a blessing due to all the shit he’s been through. but tbh you gotta take the small victories in opera considering a lot of them end in death all around.

Episode 4: "My meat shield cannot go to the butchers shop just yet." - Tom

Okay HI I’m home from Georgia and I thought oh maybe I can relax SIKE. Now I have to meet 4 NEW PEOPLE. Ugh. I really hope we got whoever voted in the minority over on the other tribe, that sure would make it easier. I’m happy I’m here with Jules and JJ, they are 2 of my closest allies. I trust tom as well, he just doesn’t talk very much. This sounds bad but I really hope Alex gets taken out, he’s SUCH a good player. Anyways Johnny is playing champions and I hope you guys have a great night!

UM HELLO.

Okay so first: I felt so bad voting out willow she was such a sweetheart. I even asked her if there was anything she wanted to do last minute but she didn't have a plan so we really had to let her go. I wanted to be her ally but all in all the connections I made outside of her paid off in a much more tangible way.

SECOND: THE SWAP. I aint about it. I think the newbies are gonna be fine or whatever.... but I was in SUCH a good spot in my tribe. Like lowkey I had an alliance (that lets be real was probably doomed to fail anyways lmao but thats fine) and then also I won that individual immunity. I think people really wanted to work with me no matter who they were!!! AND I WAS GONNA MILK THAT. But nowwww I have to make new relationships and win people over. PLUS the tribemates I am still with I didn't talk strategy with as much like Mo and Jones. They like me sure sure but we never talked about who was voting who, even though Alex and I helped each other.

Lastly: I don't have strong impressions of the newbies. Mitch was the first to say hi so thats sweet of him. Benj hasn't said too much to me. Noah seems fun (?) but also god knows he doesn't seem all that loyal oof

Well, the Willow vote went according to plan. I knew she was voting me, she's such a sweet girl but everything was impossible to plan for when she wasn't around to talk about the comps. She kinda got defaulted into everything she did for the competitions. So, she had to go.

As far as the tribe swap goes, I'm really mad that I have to start all over on the new tribe with the idol search, so it kinda spooks me that I'm in a brand new tribe, with new idol information, and I probably don't have much of a chance.

Ali is someone that I was excited to be with, his meet the cast video was super endearingly messy and I just think he's so cute and wholesome. I love it. I've talked to him the most so far, and out of everyone from OG Budva, I think he's my guy. I enjoy him the most. Julie seems cool, I haven't talked to her much with the exception of calling her fucking GORGEOUS. (Sidenote, literally why am I so fucking shallow that the pretty people get the best edits in my confessionals?!?) Anyways, Julie seems super fun, she gave Jules a Tarot reading on call that was super cute. Jason & Ian haven't talked much, but they seem cool as well. Ian is into gaming, and it sounds like we play similar games, so I think we can bond based off of that really well.

Tom scares me, he's really cute and really fun to talk to, and I know he's with me 100%, but he doesn't want to work with people from our tribe. I might be forced to do things to appease him, or kick him out earlier than I'd like to. I remember us briefly talking about my plan I "jokingly" suggested throwing the comps if OG Durmitor was in the majority, and he was saying he didn't want to because he'd be stupid to work with OG Durmitor in the long run. So I think I need to start building game relationships with OG Budva fast so it gives me options on what I'd like to do.

I spoke briefly with Julia (Wow I got her name wrong every fucking time during my last confessional I'm so sorry sweets.), when I asked her about who she thinks the other person who voted for Mitch might be, she mentioned Ali's name. Who is somebody I'd really like to work with anyways, and I find him really cute. I'm going to have a call with Jules, and see where her head is at, and spill some of this tea as Brigade members. Let's see how things go.

My game got a real ego check last round. Like I really thought I was doing #that and had a chance of winning immunity, when I really was out second. Like... idk what good game I thought I was playing but it was defo non-existent. Jared went home which was ugly but necessary and I swapped away from Michael/Mitch/Noah which I wanted since they were the bottom 3 of my list HSJDKDK. I feel bad for Benj tho, stuck with them eek! I really hope me and him reunite ahh!

Okay so my tribe. I have so many thoughts, like so many. I'll break it down person by person.

Ian: I like 100% dont trust him. I've been confessing for ages about how much I think he is the biggest threat and the immunity challenge totally confirmed that. He has not gotten as far in games as he has for no reason, I've been onto his game for a while and I'm totally over his shenanigans.

Jason: this ties into julia and ian too, but I'm sure the three of them were and are in an alliance. Like 100% sure. Which is worrying for this swap tribe because i think I could easily be the most expendable for the Budva people so yikes. I am scared of him too, like him and Ian are so scary it's really worrying

Julia: I dont know what to think of her. Like I really trust her and really wanna work with her, but I feel she has allies (i.e. Ian and Jason that she values much higher than me). I really want to work with her, like so bad. I want Ian and Jason out so I can make that happen. I LOVE her tho.

okay now we come onto the dormitor (spelling?) people where I think I have real, real options.

Jules: A LEGEND ON EARTH. I LOVE THEM SO MUCH AND AM SO HAPPY WE ARE TOGETHER. I AM SO EXCITED TO WORK WITH JULES. I think between me and jules we could get a really cute cross tribe thing going, the future is BRIGHT.

Evan: he seems SO sweet, like I've probs spoken to him the least, but he seems SO nice and wholesome. Jules holds a super high opinion of him and what jules says, goes.

Thomas: I was SO worried about swapping with him... but I think it could work? Like I really really want him to vote me out and get revenge for legacy, like that would be SO karmic and good. But he seems to want to work with me and I'm down! He is a king so I'd love to stick with him

JJ: he is... wild. He was super nice to me so I dont wanna be that guy that is negative, but he is a LOT hsjssksk. He reminds me a lot of Jared, like a lot of crackhead energy and I could easily see him try and play everyone. It sounds like from Jules he could be the one that dormitor would vote out so that's a good sign.

Anyway my plan? to vote off Ian and then JJ. like if I had to rank the tribe, I'd say:

Jules > Julia > Thomas > Evan > Jason > Ian > JJ

like I actually get a much better vibe from most of the dormitor people, and like... I think I'm down the flip, since I dont trust Ian at ALL. there are two ways I could see it working, either I convince Jules/Evan/Thomas to flip on JJ if we lose sending him out, and then work with them to vote Ian the following round. Or... and this plan is cracked. I think Ian and Jason could be willing to sacrifice me tbh (and Julia too unfortunately), so... I could get Jules to get them all to vote me too, so its 7-1 and then I idol out either JJ or Ian, probs Ian so that I could hopefully get the rest to flip on JJ the following round? idk yet shsjdk

but in general? Last round and the swap gave my game the kick it needed. I was playing really passively and had let myself be an outsider who delusionally thought they were central to the game. I have a fire now. I dont trust anyone from OG Budva really except for Julia and Benj, and it's time for me to put in work and gain control of the game.

The dream is a cross tribe alliance of me, jules, thomas, julia and evan but idk how feasible that is tbh. I just dont ever want to feel as passive and not in control as I did last round. That's never, ever happening again.

*SWAP STRATEGY*

- Can I just say I don't get a good vibe from ANYONE that swapped to Budva from Dirtmitor (I know I'm spelling it wrong) - There's no way we're winning this challenge since we don't even have a song yet and our editor... doesn't know how to edit - SO, my plan is to have one of two things happen: 1. Convince someone on Dirtmitor to flip so the vote's 5-3 2. Create paranoia about an idol and convince Dirtmitor to split the vote so it's 4-2-2 - If can can get either of those things to happen, we throw every single challenge and wipe out the remaining Dirt people and head into a 12 person merge with an 8-4 advantage - Also... this stops any Budva at the Dirt tribe from trying any funny business (flipping)

I'm still desperate for an idol btw. For some reason I think Jared had it and now it's rehidden back at the end of the bridge.

I need to start picking my game up. Up until this point it's been solely about maintaining the relationships I've had from day one. This swap worked out kind of perfectly for me in terms of who I swapped with. All 3 of the Golden Girls stuck together and Ali and I have been fostering a good relationship game-wise that I want to keep going. I can see myself being a target for the Dirt people but I don't see any of the OG Budva flipping yet, let alone on me. So now I feel like I need to focus more on setting up my game for the merge and ideally? I go in with as many near-guaranteed numbers as possible. And the best way to set up for that is taking out numbers I know I don't have now.

Okay so first off wtf is with that challenge results we just posted. I didn’t have time to tell him that I voted Jared too because we fuxking swapped.

Apparently JJ likes Julia for them to go on call and tell stuff to one another. Right now, JJ says there was this big majority alliance on og Budva that had me and Jason as the head of it. Wow I can’t believe I’m in an alliance that I had no idea about. Well I am aligned with Jason but literally there was no big ass allianceon og budva, it was just mob rule or whatever. Apparently Evan told JJ about this info so like where the fuck did Evan get that crackpot idea lol

I came up with an elaborate plan in which Julia goes along with this majority alliance on og budva that supposedly had me, mitch, Jason, Michael, benj and Ali. However, Ali was not really into the alliance at all so Julia and Ali act all wish washy and willing to flip to get Durmitor to split there votes because Julia told jj that the budva idol was already found.

So rn I’m acting all shady towards Tom telling him I’m all alone, with the hopes of him already knowing about this supposed big alliance on og budva for him to think I’m shady as fuck. Jason is also acting shady as fuck to JJ so they think one of us do in fact have the idol and they do split their votes. In doing so, we budva baes collectively vote either Jules or Evan out.

That’s assuming the plot fucking works. I literally don’t know if it works, or we fucking tie or go to rocks or someone on my team fucking flips. I don’t know what’s gonna happen and honestly I’m just waiting for this round to be over. If Durmitor calls our bluff and ties our 4 votes then may the odds be ever in Budva’s favor. So I'm sitting here, Ke$ha's face on my titties. Doing this music video challenge, a bitch like me really worked up a sweat. And I only sweat, on one side of my head.

As far as the game is going, this twist is really activating my inner demon, and I'm causing so much buffoonery. Everyone is talking about rocks, so I'm trying my best to make sure that doesn't happen. I know for a fact that I'm outplaying everyone this round. First, I prevented a gross game of telephone from occurring between Ali & Julia, Julia claimed that Ali might have voted for Mitch, but she very obviously didn't care whether he did or not. I felt like that could have easily been twisted by a diff OG Budva, or a OG Durmitor, into something where Ali would go after Julia, so preventing that has built a semi stable gaming relationship with the two of them. The goal here is to flip them over to our side. Julia has also told me that the Budva idol had already been claimed when she reached the end of the bridge. While Ali spilled to me that there's a large Budva alliance that he wasn't invited into. Using this as leverage, I'm going to attempt to have my old tribe, plus Julia and Ali split our votes 3-3 on Jason and Ian. Jason has also hmu, talking about the vote. We came to the conclusion together that the vote would come down to rocks, in which case. We'd like to be safe, so we agreed to tell our alliances to vote for each other, OG Budva votes JJ, OG Durmitor votes Jason. Which becomes a test, because if Jason tells Ali or Julia to vote for me, I would hope they'd come talk to me about it, if they don't? 4 votes go on Jason. If both of them tell me about it, we proceed with the 3-3-2 split idea, if only one tells me about it, we vote 5-3 on IAN so Jason doesn't have an idol played on him, and if neither of them tell me, we split 4 on me 4 on Jason. To keep me safe. Big risk, big reward baby.

The plus to this is it potentially removes Ian who I want out of here so badly because he is playing too well. The minus is it makes me and Julia super reliant on Thomas/Evan, or even JJ/Jules, whoever tries to pick us up. I think if I could convince Julia... I'd probs be down, worst comes to it, I just play my idol the following round

- Fake Vote Split: We tell them me and Julia will split votes with them, but then vote with Jason and Ian making our 4 versus their divided votes. Problems with this is it alienates Thomas/JJ/Evan/Jules (whichever three stay), but it puts us in the majority and in a comfortable spot. I don't know if I'm down for this plan really?

- 4-4 vote, either Thomas or Julia & I flip on the revote. This... could be an idea. I feel like its the kind of vanilla option, and I don't care who I flip on.

My ideal bootlist for the tribe would be: JJ > Ian > Jason > Evan if we do have to go to four tribals. I really like Thomas for having his head screwed on, Julia for being iconic and Jules for being a legend.

Summary: I'm tired, this challenge made me feel ugly, gross and like a freak, if JJ threatens my game again I will snap, people need to risk more, this vote is going to be a mess.

That leaves pretty much everyone voting Noah except Benj, and he's in my pocket so I don't think theres any conspiracy from him trying to do something crazy. Second, here's what I am afraid of. Everything that I just mentioned above is what Noah wants to do but to me, using my own tribe. I’ve pondered a little over this, and I think the main reason Liam usually gets unfairly sidelined could be assigned to one and/or more of the following reasons:1. Liam’s narrative. Right from the early days, Liam was pinned as the responsible one. For the record, I don’t know why it’s deemed as an undesirable trait because it is not. I always say this and I’ll say it again, Liam is truly magnificent because not only is he A+ in almost everything, he also makes me want to be a better version of myself. I honestly wish I had these inherent leadership traits that Liam possesses. Do you know how often my lecturers stress the importance of leadership values and responsible behavior in the real world? That Liam is naturally capable of maneuvering stressful situations and making them bearable, not only for the boys but also the fans, by and large, is a very very admirable attribute. Like, even in his interview with Rollacoaster, that quote about him taking over because he wanted the other boys to have the moment? WHEN WILL YOUR FAVE EVER, LIKE LITERALLY? However, somehow he even got tagged as boring and dumb along the way – neither of which holds true, lmao. People judge Liam’s intellect and wisdom on the basis of his typing style on Twitter, even as they keysmash on tumblr to express excitement? Liam has been handling all the paperwork and business obligations for a while now. Liam ALSO has been co-writing the songs with Louis. Liam’s interviews with 1D have always been funny and entertaining. Liam has excellent presence of mind and is quite spontaneous as was obvious during 1DDay. He undoubtedly hosted the show sooo well. I bet you these are the very people who go all 2+2 = Europe, I mean???Liam has always been the fulcrum of the band. There is no questioning one’s choice and likes and preferences but if you describe Liam as someone who doesn’t have superior talent, my dude, my bro, my mate…. Carry on with the delusions, I guess. Liam’s voice is a treasure, Liam is one of the strongest yet one of the most underrated Baritones in music today. That has a lot to do with his branding whilst in 1D. Now, in no means am I an expert and I don’t claim to be one either, but it hardly takes rocket science to discern that One Direction’s sound was structured around everyone’s voices but Liam’s, or at best, the least around him. I once read a post and I wish I could find it so I’d link it here. It essentially points out how it is worth considering that we never got to listen to Liam hit the same notes as he did during his second audition at the X Factor. Hmm, wonder why….. There’s been a lot of fuckery involving the solo duration, with Liam’s verses regressing in duration, but that’s not all. Liam had less time on melodies and more on harmonies (specifically backing harmonies) and that’s probably another reason as to why if you listen to the songs clearly, Liam is doing a lot – in most of the songs – but you hardly ever register that because that’s exactly what the intent is: to render his backing harmonies as backing harmonies. There’s hardly any emphasis on his net contribution to every track. Then there’s this huge issue with the fandom and the songwriting and crediting all of the Lilo songs to Louis. I get that Liam himself acknowledges Louis as a very creative co-songwriter and I am not taking that away from our Tommo, never. But all these lines that the fandom cry and fond over and sing praises for? What if those were created by Liam and not Louis? This fandom is so repulsive, lmao. Coming back to 1D’s production, how often do you come across pop artists who sound better live than they do on edited polished pieces of recorded studio version? I hardly do. I personally believe Liam has that beautiful voice that no studio recorded version could do absolute justice to and yes, the real sparks of goosebumps prickle your skin fully when you listen to Liam live, yet there’s something deeply wrong if Liam hits all those brilliant notes by improvising on stage and yet hardly gets the chance to do it on the album. I think this is why I personally cherish Never Enough, it’s the closest we’ve come, really. 3. The fandom and the various sects. There is no denying that there is abject inequality with the way the boys are treated within the fandom, by their so called fans, and this reflects in the way the media handles the boys, too.I distinctly recall when a year back when I was just venturing into the fandom, I was hardly what you’d call a fan.
