it’s been 26 years since the massacre at CHS, and because there’s so much misinformation surrounding it, i’ve decided to make a list of the most common myths to debunk them.

“eric was the leader, dylan was a follower”

this narrative is pushed by many different sources (most notably by dave cullen), however it’s blatantly false. both dylan and eric were equally responsible for planning and following through with the massacre.

if anything, it could be argued that eric was more of a follower, as dylan wrote about committing a massacre nearly a year before eric did, and several of their friends stated that eric actually tended to follow/copy dylan in more innocuous ways. this, however is also somewhat farcical, as they made the choice to do this together, and should both be held equally as accountable.

this goes hand-in-hand with the “leader/follower” myth, however based on all the publicly available forensic, ballistic, and coronary/post-mortem information, dylan undoubtedly took his own life.

the intended date was 4/19, as they were inspired by the 1995 oklahoma city b*mbing done on the same date, however they weren’t prepared enough when the day came and they had to postpone.

yes, 15 people died that day, but only 13 of them were victims—you cannot be the victim of a massacre that you, yourself perpetrated. while it’s true that d&e were victims of an unsupportive society and intense bullying, they chose to carry out the massacre, which means they were not victims of their own violence.

rachel scott & cassie bernall’s martyrdom is probably one of the most prevailing myths about the massacre, but it is very much untrue. for rachel, she had no interactions with d&e on the day, as they shot her from a distance. for cassie, while she did have an interaction with eric, it was only him taunting her before taking her life—no conversation took place.

d&e did, however, ask valeen schnurr if she believed in god—to which she answered something along the lines of “no…yes, because my parents believe,” according to schnurr herself and other survivors from the library—but she wasn’t killed because of it.

while they did wear trench coats/dusters, neither dylan nor eric properly associated with the TCM. a couple of their other friends did, but not d&e themselves.

“dave cullen’s book is an accurate account of the events”

this could not be further from the truth—dave cullen’s book is filled with misinformation, distorted evidence, and flat out lies. this includes the very real story of how the now-late anne marie-hochhalter—whom he never even interviewed, instead going off of random news reports—was injured. she had spoken out about it in an article, stating:

“I was injured at [CHS], and Dave Cullen's book is inaccurate and sensationalized...It felt kind of violating, to be honest,” Hochhalter says of the experience of reading Cullen's book. “He got the part about how I was injured completely wrong. I couldn't bear to read the whole thing.”

there’s no doubt hundreds of other myths surrounding the massacre, but these are the main ones that come to mind first.

it’s important for us to remember that this was a very real event that had very real impacts on people—it’s easy to fall into the trap of disconnecting d&e from the destruction they caused, viewing them more as fictional characters you just see on your screen, but that’s far from the case.

i hope cassie, cory, daniel, danny, dave, isaiah, john, kelly, kyle, lauren, matthew, rachel, and steven all rest in peace, they were taken far too soon.

for dylan and eric, i hope their friends and families can remember the good times they had with them, and the rest of us can learn from this case and not go down the same dark path they did.

my love is with the families of all those effected by this tragedy, we owe it to them to do our best in making the world a kinder, more understanding place and taking whatever steps we can to stop more shootings from happening.

—BS: I was working out a lot and I kind of developed an addiction to that, so it was good. It was a good tool to get your frustrations out and sweat it out in the gym. I was there with Valdemar, who was my personal trainer and my right-hand man throughout this whole trip, and he was a very important source for me to let off steam and, you know, cook together and eat well and just walk around Prague and enjoy that beautiful city.

—Before joining this new version, had you read the graphic novels, the comic, the original film?

—BS: Yeah, I had seen the original movie and I watched it again while I was putting this one together. I also read the graphic novel, which I really enjoyed, but when we started shooting I had to focus on the director’s cut and how Eric and that crow would develop and develop. Once we started shooting and working, it was like, well, what are the boundaries of this story? What are the high points, the big moments and the turning points, and how does the character evolve and change throughout this journey?

Some would call this a 'Perfectly Mismatched' relationship ? Mismatched indeed ! But there's nothing perfect about it, is there ?!?

But I digress ... From what I'm seeing, the owners of this 'contract' is the mum and the agent . No-one can be that cruel and get away with it like she can . And she damn-well can . She's not called 'the mom*ger' for nothing . Her girls would be nothing without her, (especially that youngest); mum hosts the show . And a lot of people don't know this except for the ones that deal with her directly . The two kids (TC & KJ) are pawns, watched and matched up a while ago because of their age, youth, appeal and potential for the next generation of HW (i.e. zeitgeistian), and pushed out into the public in order to sell, like wh*res . The only difference here ? TC initially as a youth wasn't really into the HW dream, his background is east coast and european, which accounts for the 'oh shit' moments when he has to perform now; something easily felt through the screen by people who care enough to pay attention . KJ, her little sapphic cash-cow on the other hand, was born, bred, programmed and groomed solely for this role, as all the sisters have been . Except, intellectually? Well ... there's always one .

But what I'm reading and seeing, 'the mom*ger' probably thought of Timo as someone who's image could balance her baby out and an easy-enough target, being so loyal to his team, to be swayed into the HW mindset like every other shmo . "Young, dumb and full of ..." and banking the rest of their dwindling funds on his talent, unusual looks (def. not HW . Oh well.) and charm, of which he has plenty .

The desperation reeks, though . It's scary and disgusting to watch the ship sink and I wouldn't want to be in his shoes, having them hold onto him for dear life (pun intended) . HW's 'American Dream' traditionally was the ultimate narcissistic dream of every little american child . And its big-wigs touted the belief that the whole f*cking world wants in, building competition and cashing in on the innocence in more ways than one . And 'mom*ager', being from that dying era, "The Devil of HW works hard but ... ", is trying very hard to get her last few licks in and sell it to this new gen. But she can only get so far with the old formula so she has to work hard to get around this and her last one needs a lot of hand-holding . Timo might be a New Yorker, but with that european soul ? Very different . I do think he's giving her a run for her money, though . She might be acting all cool and superior, but she'd be a wreck . And she'd definitely be afraid of him . LOL I know he must be learning from this though, he has to . He's got 'Mensa'-level intelligence as someone's said . HW is not hard to figure out, but the simple-minded people within it like to create havok and low-blows out of greed . And there are A F*cK-ToN of them; something that, back in the day, he probably wasn't aware of or understood, like most young people and which is probably why you can see so many un-suspecters blaming him for his predicament BTW. Not forced, more like flattered, seduced and cajoled . Actors are easy that way . But it's bloody obvious this has never been Timo's natural milieu. All of this is calculated of course, the toiling demon of HW knows her audience . So his team needs to have eyes in the back of their head . It must be exhausting . All in all, I do hope he has a plan, these childish 'kiss-and-miss' tricks can only "shock", "insult", "disrespect" and *gasp* "devastate" so much ... They are fun though . In the interim, Fam, watch out for articles like this, their wording and pictures and especially timing is all noteworthy .

Starscream and Skywarp being wild bugs sneaking into her house because it’s TRINE SEASON. not to be confused with mating seasons but it is similar in the fact that it is a season we’re unclaimed (in a trine way) seeker cybugs would look for their second and third life partners and form their near unbreakable bond.

She just caught Starscream’s trying and failing to do some sneaky link shit (trine courting TC) Most likely a hollering Skywarp is somewhere in the house too (maybe still in TC’s enclosure or rest areas and/or hiding in a potted plant or vent that leads outside) watching Starscream be captured by the dreaded plastic cup of doom.

Only for him to get sticky trapped later with a kinda concerned TC bringing Baxter to the poor idiot.

2. Maybe it's Maxine "Buster" Baxter........... M as a nod to Marissa. Idk i haven't touched on the human characters in this AU (and am personally avoiding doing so just as a fun limitation and so i have less characters to keep track of) but also shes probably Buster's neighbour that TC likes.

Busters "real" name isn't likely to come up ever but yknow. fun side thoughts. Green gets to be Felicity (Flyt-city...) Greene, and Buster gets to be Maxine Baxter 😂 idk in my brain everyone just calls her Buster anyway.

3. YEAH!!! They're all different subspecies of Seeker and Buster just didn't realize <3 She figures it out at some point after all 3 of them show up though. (Shortly after posting the Reddit/Seddit Post, I assume lol)

I realised when drafting this part out that since I had already teased Buster before, it meant that I had already included TC in her pfp so either she got Starscream first (years ago) and THEN got TC, OR... she had TC and then was confused as to what Starscream was when he showed up because they look pretty different. I think I had decided to go with the latter less than an hour before ur last ask came thru LMAOO so I was yelling. Like. YEAH. EXACTLY. I also figured that trining between different subspecies was unusual less than an hour before ur last ask so I was Doubly Yelling. LMAO.

I am. not making a research article mockup, I had to write enough of those in uni fhdkfhdk,, it is a neat idea though!! (very fun idea for the rainmakers being a cameo i respect that o7)

4. HOWEVER. thank you for the inspo for a segue into the next part I loosely have planned for the seekers- since it's Unusual for three different subspecies to trine, and with the idea of her being a backyard scientist, she gets to take them in for checkups/research purposes since they're an unusual case 👍 or, to quote the unofficial title of the next seeker feature in my notes: "Starscream goes to the vet".

Hi! I'm looking into writing a character with Treacher Collins syndrome in a fantasy world. Most modern accounts of the syndrome I can find often talk about extensive reconstructive surgery, but that kind of intervention isn't possible in this fantasy world. Do you have any resources on life without Treacher Collins without surgery?

Hey!

A lot of the necessity of reconstructive surgery depends on the severity of the symptoms. So for example, if your character had their bones underdeveloped to the point of breathing problems, they would need something to help with it (unless something as simple as a tracheostomy would be feasible in your setting, it's an incredibly old procedure). But if they're on the milder end of the spectrum, they could go without surgery at all. Sometimes TCS could mean the facial structure being underdeveloped, but not enough to cause major problems; this article on TCS mentions that there are parents who literally don't know they have it until they have a child born with it as well. So that happens too, sometimes it's just brushed off as Looking Different without any kind of diagnosis being made because there aren't any problems.

Here's one account of a man with TCS who was born in the 30s and didn't have any surgery until he was ten (and to my understanding, it was only for cleft palate - something not all people with TCS have). Warning for the r-slur being used in a quote and the kind of ableism you might expect from the timeframe. (I think it's also a nice remainder that there were always families with disabled kids who were inventing solutions to help them, even almost a century ago)

I would try to figure out first what symptoms your character specifically has, you can always just pick ones that would be more survivable in a less medically advanced setting. Many people will have issues with feeding or breathing, but not all will; your character could be one of the latter - or you could have a Fantasy Nutrition Tube and/or the truly ancient tracheostomy I mentioned. When you see the "and then the person gets [something that doesn't exist in your setting]" try to be creative and think what would otherwise happen - the eyelid problems that lead to infections, maybe your character could not experience them, or maybe they would be visually impaired from having them; maybe if there's no hearing aids then their community would have to learn sign to communicate with them, etc.

I hope this helps. I really appreciate the thought of including a character with TCS in the type of settings where many writers would just go "nah they wouldn't survive it". It's nice to see.

“He thinks we’re studying molecular biology for fun.” That was their latest topic in the list of the hundred prerequisites necessary for learning biotransmutation, which they all were aware of, Florin included. He’d picked up on their intentions quickly enough and had been rather tickled by the whole thing. ‘Couldn’t have picked a harder challenge, could you?’ had been his exact phrasing. Quilin hadn’t bothered to point out he’d gotten invested in their studies suspiciously fast.

Generally speaking, Quilin tended to ignore his body. It housed many less-than-desirable qualities, so he opted to pay it as little attention as possible. For the most part, this was easy enough to do. What some people referred to as his ‘obsessive tendencies’ served him excellently. As long as he had his textbooks and notes and articles, he could go entire nights without sleep, entire days without food, entire weeks without once looking at the mirror for too long. He could ignore the nausea. The aching muscles. The shortness of breath. It was his heart, however, that never failed to distract him from his distractions.

Quilin’s discomfort grew as the table filled with breads, sautéed vegetables, sauces, and all the mixing smells gave rise to a mild nausea. The two of them sat huddled on Greta’s dorm’s floor, frozen dirt between them. They’d dug out patches of brown grass from under the snow, and half of it was already laying in the discarded pile, the grass blades blackened. Greta brought a handful of dirt closer to her face, drawing slow circles above the wilted grass with her free hand. “Water,” she murmured. Quilin willed several drops out of the glass between them. He settled them gently over the blades Greta was focusing on and held them in place as Greta made use of the additional molecules to repair the damage. Or, reverse it, as she’d put it.

Artificial intelligence or No Intelligence?

I read this article in English and I must say, I have questions:

1. If this was based on something that happened in 2023, why publish it now in 2025? The journalist implies that the interview is with Marc Chalamet, also a seasoned journo.

2. There's no current photographs of the Chalamet family, only widely available social media pics. Why? 2025!

3. There's a mention of the 'couple' in the town square, causing an uproar, teenagers EVERYWHERE, no pics? 2023! ((This 'relationship' has many layers like an onion, it also makes one cry with laughter))

Then suddenly, in the shop, she doesn't recognise one of the world's most photographed men she has a history with...who spent almost 15 minutes in the shop...
