Marianas trench??? Hello??? Fun Canada pop punk??
YES!!! I’ve been obsessed for years??? And I honestly don’t get why they don’t have more crossover with 5sos fans because their career trajectories are so similar??
Like they started out firmly pop punk with songs like shaketramp (which is the first song of theirs I heard when the video always played on much music) and decided to break it (which is an all time fave of mine) on their first album (fix me, 2006) the entirety of which is just... so fun, such classics for me as a canadian 90’s kid
Then they started experimenting with more pop melodies on their second album (masterpiece theatre, 2010) with songs like all to myself and acadia, but they were still very guitar heavy. this album featured one of my favourite pop songs of all time, celebrity status, which in my opinion, really paved they way for their next era (this album also features a three piece set of songs, masterpiece theatre 1, 2 and 3, which are THE youngblood era lashton songs and some of my favourite songs of all time)
And then their third album came out (ever after, 2012) which is my absolute favourite album of all time, jfc if you ever listen to one album in its entirety, back to front, let it be this one!! It’s a concept album, which means it’s telling one story with one theme, and every single song transitions into each other so listening to it all together is like listening to one long song. It’s beautiful, it’s heartbreaking and my very very favourite songs of all time are on here: ever after and porcelain (porcelain is THE malum song for anyone wondering). They also had massive hits on this album (in Canada anyways) that fucking SLAP like haven’t had enough, desperate measures, fallout and stutter, the last one being my favourite! If you like big harmonies and vocal walls like 5sos do in red desert or wildflower, listen to this song, you WILL NOT be dissapointed. (also lowkey think 5sos were inspired my Marianas Trench for those songs because in the past, like 2014-2015, Luke and Ashton said that they wanted to make music with harmonies like Marianas Trench and these are the first songs that really come close).
Fun fact: sometime after this, the lead singer and main writer of Marianas Trench wrote Story of Another Us with Luke and I can really feel the Ever After vibes in that song, if you like that song, listen to By Now
Then we have their fourth album (astoria, 2015). Another concept album and the lyrics on this one BREAK MY HEART they’re so good, songs like astoria and dearly departed are so thematically rich and beautiful, and who do you love has my favourite harmonies in any song I’ve ever heard. This is my favourite era of Marianas Trench, and the themes on calm remind me a lot of the narrative beats on this album (i mean this in a good way, both albums make me very happy)
And their most recent album (phantoms, 2019) is haunting and beautiful and also a concept album, and the concept is very much for me (a haunted house themed album???? Yes please), your ghost and the killing kind are huge standouts and only the lonely survive is pop lyrics at their peak. This album is incredibly unique for them and I absolutely love it, there are several horror movie references if you’re into that (I’m not but they’re there) and there are several references to motifs from their previous albums
I love this band so much and their journey from pop-punk band to strong pop to vocal harmony driven music is very similar to what 5sos have done and I’m not sure why we don’t talk about them more!!

Hi! I’ve been reading through your Buckeride fics and I know this isn’t on your prompt list but I can’t get the idea of long-distance Kelly and 118!Buck where Buck sends him postcards like he used to do with Maddie. Like imagine a post card with a pic of Buck and the first baby he delivers, or Buck mastering a complex Bobby recipe or screenshots of a daring rescue. And Kelly peppering his locker with all of these.
So this is definitely not what you requested, but it's where my weird little brain took me. 1200 words, Buck x Kelly. Buck copes with losing Kelly by hiking across the country. Kelly copes with losing Buck by reading his postcards and sending replies in the form of books. Fair warning, I haven't read all of the books mentioned in this but I'll get around to them eventually.
The first time Buck drops a postcard in the mail to Chicago is a generic shot of the desert, picked up for 60 cents in a tourist trap not far from the head of the trail. Buck prints the address of Firehouse 51 carefully onto the back of the card and spends the rest of the night agonizing over what to write on the rest. In the end he scrawls a messy 2,653 miles to go, wish me luck, and drops it into the mailbox outside of his motel without a return address - he doesn’t have one.
The second is a black-and-white reproduction of Ansel Adams’ Monolith, the Face of Half Dome tucked inside the front cover of the artist’s biography and shipped together in a package from the same post office where Kidd mailed his latest resupply. Yosemite was too fucking crowded. Ansel Adams Wilderness was beautiful though. Did you know he did a whole series on Manzanar, the Japanese internment camp? He was an interesting dude. Hang onto this book for me if you can, please.
His next care package contains a book - Only What We Could Carry: The Japanese American Internment Experience - and even though he hasn’t factored an extra book into his pack weight, he tucks it into his bag along with everything else. When he cracks it open in the fading light of a high altitude sunset he nearly chokes on a mouthful of trail mix. There, on the inside cover, is a note in Kelly’s neat-but-cramped handwriting, just like in every other book he’s ever gifted to Buck. Why do you always pick the most fucking depressing topics to take an interest in? Tell Kidd where I should ship the other 3 books about internment camps when you get off the trail, I’m never going to reread them.
Buck closes his eyes and tips his head up to the sky, staring at the wash of red and orange the sunset paints behind his eyelids until the sting that threatens tears fades away. By then it’s nearly dark - too dark to read, but not too dark to thumb through the pages to find the ones that are dog eared, the passages with stars next to them, the notes in the margins careful never to overlap with the text or images. He doesn’t open it again for almost a week, spends another few days reading it slowly, savoring the notes in the margins and writing his own in return. It’s the continuation of a silent conversation they’ve been having since the first time Kelly picked up one of Buck’s dog-eared, highlighted, scribbled-in books off of the nightstand and returned it to him with three questions and an opinion Buck absolutely had to argue with scrawled inside the back cover.
Except this time...this time Buck can’t read his commentary aloud to Kelly at the end of the day, or ask him to expand on one of the thoughts jotted down at the bottom corner of a page. This time he can’t talk to Kelly at all.
Instead he takes a selfie with the PCT mid point sign and then backtracks to hitchhike into town. He celebrates with a motel room, a shower, and a night in an honest to god bed. Pancakes at the local diner taste like heaven in the morning, he calls Kidd from a curbside bench with a beautiful view of the mountains, and he’s in too good a mood to question it when his feet lead him down the street and into a shop advertising printing.
He has two copies of his selfie printed. One goes into an envelope addressed to 51, alongside a postcard of Mt. Lassen thanking Cindy for the cookies and Mouch for the hockey themed wool socks in his latest resupply. The second he addresses to his old Kelly’s apartment. Thanks for the book. I think I’m going to visit Manzanar after I finish the trail - it’s only a few hours from LA. Maybe I’ll climb Whitney while I’m out there. Hey, did you know Lassen and Shasta are part of the Pacific Ring of Fire? The volcanic landscapes out here are awesome.
Buck almost doesn’t put the second envelope in the mail. He almost puts the book in a box and sends it to Stella instead. But in the end he mails the card, tucks the book deep into his bag where it will sit undisturbed but impossibly heavy with emotion for most of the next two months, and hitchhikes back to the trailhead.
By the time he makes his first stop in Oregon there’s another package: food, socks, a newspaper clipping of Truck 81 saving a little girl and her dog from an overturned car, and a book. Surviving the Stone Wind, clearly purchased used, the cover fraying at the corners and the spine cracked. Inside, beneath a faded note indicating it was once a gift for someone else, Kelly has written Don’t get killed by a volcano. That would be a stupid ass way for a firefighter to go out.
Buck sends a picture of himself from central Oregon tucked inside the cover of the book when he returns it, his handwriting a barely legible scribble beneath Kelly’s sharp letters. At least if I die in an eruption it’ll be quick. I’ve been thinking - there’s a lot of time to think out here - about how we would survive if the Yellowstone Supervolcano ever erupts. The answer is that we probably won’t, but if we did, living through the endless winter afterwards sounds pretty nasty. You know how I hate to be cold.
I bought more hand warmers for the emergency kit, Kelly replies, weeks later, from between the pages of a book about Yellowstone. But I think you’re right. I’d rather go in the explosion.
Buck has another hiker take a picture of him on the Bridge of the Gods, smack in the center of the Columbia river, and scrawls on the back of two copies before sending them off in the mail. The Columbia used to have the largest Salmon run on Earth. I never realized how much we’ve fucked up the environment before spending all this time out in the middle of nowhere. Not that the trail is even the middle of nowhere - thousands of people walk every part of it every year. I wonder what it all looked like before we colonized the West.
The Organic Machine: The Remaking of the Columbia River gets to Buck when he’s a couple of hundred miles into Washington. He flips the cover open eagerly, touches his fingers to the only form of communication he’s had with the love of his life in months. Seems like people have been changing the environment out there since long before white colonizers showed up. They just made it a lot worse. This isn’t going to be one of your “if I had a time machine” obsessions again, is it?
If I had a time machine I’d only go back 10 months, Buck writes inside of the cover. He shoves the book deep inside of his pack, beside the first, and mails back a generic postcard of the Cascades instead.

And that’s the episode.
I was NOT expecting Jesse to exit the train this soon.  I’m sure we’ll see more of him at the end, but is he otherwise out of the show for good?  Actually, if he’s not coming back, then narratively it might be better for us to not see his homecoming and instead focus on MT’s story.
I wonder how she’s going to wheel Mace and Sieve.  That’s what’s going to happen, I think, almost definitely.  They’ve set that up pretty solidly, and it’s just a matter of who gets wheeled, not if someone gets wheeled.  I’m betting that’s how she escapes them.  It’s gonna be pretty dark if she does it herself, so I’m not sure they’ll go there, but Mace is wheelbound for sure, and maybe Sieve behind him--though I can see him giving up the chase if his more hardass partner bites it.
Man.  Poor MT.  You really could see her hope being crushed.  Poor thing.
The Mall Car was quite good, with a good villain, good character stuff, a triumphant sequence late in the episode and a heartrending ending.  It’s just not quite as good as the best of Season 1, though, in my opinion.  It comes in at my new #2 for Season 2, between The Black Market Car and The Lucky Cat Car, and my new #7 overall, between The Black Market Car and The Ball Pit Car (I’m a sucker for good horror and great character stuff, and it was just a huge WHAT THE FUCK episode that I loved.)

Become A Writing Machine
Tumblr media
✨ To read my articles when they come out, join my taglist! :)
A series of article for all future articles about to be birthed, how innovative! Welcome to the mother of all articles, yes, you can subscribe already.
This was requested by Raha from @xenorosis, who wanted an updated version of the very old (and very boring, and very unfunny, but we all start somewhere) How To Write A Masterpost article. Here you go! Hope this helps, I’m looking forward to reading your work.
Since I had a lot to say, this series contains 5 posts!
Post one: before you write an article
Post two: how I write my articles
Post three: my editing process
Post four: tips for writing non-fiction
Post five: how to get more views on your articles
Post One: BEFORE YOU WRITE AN ARTICLE
1. Find Your Niche.
What will you write about? This might take time to figure out, it sure did for me. I used to write mostly about studying but now I hate it (bluntness has entered the chat), so I write about lifestyle design & productivity instead.
Two guidelines that helps narrow it down:
You have to love it AND enjoy about writing about it. (If you don't like writing, start a podcast! Or make videos! The world is yours, darling)
You gotta have some knowledge about it. Means, study books on it, research before writing, constantly talk about it and get different points of view.
Good to remember: Pick something you'll be able to write an actual ARTICLE about, not something you can make LISTS about. I see so many posts about productivity, but they're all the same, written in bullet pointed lists, and I can't help but scroll past. I'm not sorry.
Your niche can be anything! Travel, if you love popping that booty on top of Mt. Everest, cooking, if you like crying while cutting onions, animals, if you're always found at a zoo (and if assuming a homo sapien is reading this, not in the enclosures).
You can mix niches up too! If you like cooking AND animals, maybe start writing about cooking for your Labrador. If you like travel AND dancing, write about how you're blending different cultures by performing Kathak in Mexico.
For eg, I love humor and conquering. Thus I write about becoming a superwoman of life while wearing funky underwear, because that is funny and you have to accept, goodnight.
2. Have Unpopular Opinions.
Have something different to say, Henry! Stop fitting into the crowds, that spiffy red underwear was MEANT to stand out.
Your articles need to bring something new. I've said this to every new studyblr wanting advice and I say it to you too: stand out.
This doesn't mean being an asshole and using the lamest slang in your posts (lmao fun fact, I learnt a new insult — cockalorum — last week, made my day) nor does it mean starting a revolution about drinking water from plates (I'll join).
If simply means bringing something new to the table. And THAT comes in 3 different cuisines:
1. Quality.
In short: put in major work into your article. This is how most of my articles stand out from everyone else's I read on this site — they have a whole lot of work put into them.
Don't believe me? Read the How To Not Be Depressed article, it's a MARATHON of an novel. Over 13 pages, 7000 words, lame humor included. Please love me now.
2. Content.
Bring new content, Maria! The heck is wrong with people giving the same tips of drinking water again and again?
Standing out can also mean giving new ideas. How can you do that? Exercise your idea muscle (write 10 ideas everyday) and consume content that will help you create.
For eg, consider 5 reasons why you're unhappy. Sounds pretty ordinary, right? You'd expect me to give you tips about petting dogs and buying flowers. Yet they include five majorly radical ideas which, if implemented, would change your life (thoroughly tested on a guinea pig named Nandini).
3. Mission Drink Water From Plates.
This one's going all IN. This is about leaving the crowd, standing on top of a cliff, blaring the Lion King theme song and proudly posing in your red underwear. Write about your core, deepest beliefs, no matter how much hate you get, because—I kid you not—these are the posts which will help you find your squad.
Lemme elaborate. Some of my core beliefs include:
Love yourself for what you are and accept yourself fully. I have a ritual, where I get out of the shower every morning, stand in front of the mirror naked and tell myself: “Nandini, I love and accept yourself for what you are.”
You've gotta stand out.
You're tired because you're doing things you dislike, so do something about it.
Live with urgency but know that you have enough time.
Be patient, dear heart (my tagline for now)
I've talked about these and more in a lot of my posts, and I've gotten hate for it. Funnily, I've also found had the best people messaging me and telling me my red underwear smells a bit but is the shiniest, coolest thing they've seen.
I think I'll take it.
3. Know Your Priorities With What You’re About To Write.
Lastly, know your priorities while writing. This means knowing yourself, because ultimately, you write because it pleases you, and you love doing it. (If you're writing for some other reason, please don't. Try audio or video formats instead.)
When you're starting writing, ask yourself: if I was reading this, what things would I like to know?
When I started writing this series, I knew I'd like to know:
What should I write about (Answer = your niche)
Will people hate me if I write about how productivity sucks? (Answer = some will, some won't, it'll help you find your squad so do it anyway)
What about drinking from plates? That was a cool idea (Answer = let's get help and chat afterwards)
What the writer's writing process is (post two!)
Other tips the writer would give for nonfiction work (post three!)
How do I get more views on my articles (post four!)
And so, the Become A Writing Machine series was born.
Lastly know yourself. My dual priorities while writing are:
1) bring major value about concerned topic
2) make people laugh
So I'm out here with my tablet as my sword and hobo jokes as my shield. If you're someone who doesn't enjoy humor in articles, don't write jokes about lingerie! Do you, bro!
Ultimately remember, there are 8 billion humans on this earth. Some will hate who you are, others will love you with all your quirks. Stay true to yourself and you'll attract like-minded people. And hopefully, it'll be a band of badasses dedicated to living a life true to themselves, loving themselves and flashing their underwear. Love you Team Conquer.
(And that was the last underwear joke, I promise.)
(More to come later on.)
(Addio!)
💌 The End Card.

Popular Opinion
“The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.” 2Pet 3:9ESV
There is a new —actually very old— teaching permeating the church. ‘God is such a loving Father, He won’t send anyone to hell, no matter what the condition of the heart.’ This teaching is true and false.
True! 1Jn 4:8KJV “…God is love…” Yes God is the loving Father. God forgives all sins. God sent Jesus to seek and save the lost.
 Jn 1:12NIV “But to all who believed Him and accepted Him, He gave the right to become children of God.” Father God, Jesus “not wishing that any should perish.” Jesus wants everyone to CHOOSE loving him and going to heaven. Yes! There’s that word again! Choose! All of life is about our choices.
People made in the image of God, going to eternal damnation, hell, wasn’t and isn’t God’s idea. God desires absolutely no one to end up in the lake of fire.
Contrary to popular opinion, it’s satan’s idea to take people to hell with him. First, he hates everyone. Second, satan knows how much God loves people. Convincing people to go to hell, hurts the heart of Papa God and makes satan’s day.
False! IF everyone born was going to heaven, then fifty percent of the Bible could be ripped out and thrown in the burn pile.
This makes many questions come to mind, such as i.e.
Heb 12:14NIV “Strive for peace with everyone, and for the holiness without which no one will see the Lord.” Okay… the people who don’t make Jesus their Lord and go to heaven… won’t ever see God without holiness, according to this scripture. So how can you live in someone’s house and never see that Someone? Wouldn’t that make you like a tenth class citizen? Sure it would beat a lake of fire but to live on the fringe… Not cool!
I’m asking seriously, this next question, from anyone who’s studied theology. Then is this fringe or outside of heaven revealed in Rev 22:15NIV? “…Outside are the dogs, those who practice magic arts, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters and everyone who loves and practices falsehood.”
My active mind sees this as living in the worst third world ghetto imaginable, while NEVER being able to be the ‘blessed’ living it up in the palace. Wouldn’t that be a type of hell, in and of itself?
What do we do with this scripture? I thought this scripture is very plain. “Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’” Mt 7:23NIV.
Bottom line— why would anyone risk living throughout eternity without Jesus and God’s love for a ‘maybe-perhaps you can do it all your way’ and still make heaven? Is the risk worth perishing throughout eternity without Love? It’s your choice. You choose.
PRAYER: Papa God, It’s written: “…all the ways that wickedness deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved.’” I ask Sir, don’t allow these perishing ones be in among my readers or our families, in Jesus’ name I pray.  [2Thess 2:10NIV]

Hey, everyone! Welcome to my first shot at writing a fanfic for Undertale! Please bear with me as I go on this journey- I’m still kind of new to this fandom. I don’t know how to classify the story yet. As it revolves around a human girl and Grillby in the time after they come out from under the mountain, I’m pretty sure it doesn’t count as an AU.
If you’ve stopped by to read this: Thank you! Constructive criticism and comments are always welcome. And give it a chance- the first two chapters have a lot of backstory to cover. I promise things will pick up after that.
The only warnings I have so far are for some light cursing. If anything worse comes along, I’ll put a note in at the beginning. Obvious disclaimer: I don’t own Undertale or any of the characters in it.

Chapter one, Part one
The car lurched. Rin turned her head to look at the driver. Her eyes narrowed.
"Jenna..." Her voice had a warning lilt to it.
"What? I'm sure it's noth-" Jenna tried to dismiss when the SUV suddenly shuddered to a stop. She pumped the gas a few times and it lurched forward again, only to shudder and die once more.
Rin leaned over with an exasperated sigh to look at the gauges on the console. "You're out of gas? How- When was the last time you went to a gas station?"
"Oh. So THAT'S what Daddy meant by 'fill her up'. I thought he wanted me to take you to lunch." Jenna shrugged, flipping her pink hair over her shoulder.
Rin's palm involuntarily made contact with her face. "Jenna. If I miss this interview, I'm going to kill you."
"What's the big deal with this interview, anyway?" Jenna popped her gum, an annoyed look on her face.
Rin gaped at her incredulously. "You FRAMED ME for STEALING, got me FIRED, and you OWE ME. THAT'S the BIG DEAL."
"Taking lip gloss in hardly stealing."
"Jenna, It wouldn't have mattered if you took lip gloss or the entire electronics wall: stealing is stealing." Rin's voice grew with each passing second. "And planting it on me to try to get out of it cost me my only source of income!"
"Hey! I panicked-"
"Is that why you left the one lip gloss in your pocket?" Rin hissed through gritted teeth. "Or did you do that on purpose so you would have an excuse to point fingers at me?"
"FINE. I get it. I'll call Daddy and have him come get us." Jenna pulled out her phone, agitated. "Don't worry. You'll get to the interview, you'll get your stupid job, and then we'll never have to see each other again."
Rin flexed her jaw but fell silent.
As long as you hold up your end of the bargain.
~~~
It was a slow Tuesday night at the pharmacy when it happened. Rin was doing her best not to fall asleep while she restocked the makeup aisle. One look at the mirrors on the walls showed that she was the only person on the sales floor.
Most nights were quiet like this ever since the monsters emerged from Mt. Ebbot. Macall was such a conservative city, and there were many people who would not tolerate change of any kind, much less an entirely new race of beings who were given rights equal to the rest of the citizenry. Those people who could afford to move away did so, whether it was to the other side of town or another town altogether. Businesses vacated the area around the base of the mountain in droves as well, leaving her pharmacy on the new edge of town and the bustling city center empty. Thanks to their location, they served an even mix of humans and monsters.
She glanced back up at the mirrors hopefully, pushing a lock of black hair behind her ear.
Maybe no one else will come in tonight. Cleanup will be a snap.
As if on cue, a group of human girls walked through the doors, laughing and being loud.
Rin rolled her eyes and kept stacking foundation on the display. It didn't really matter to her whether the customers were humans or monsters; they all had an equal opportunity to pester her right before closing time.
Great.
The girls strolled around the store, chatting endlessly. It wasn't hard to keep track of them, even without the mirrors. They were obnoxious. They didn't seem to be shopping for anything in particular, so it didn't take them long to make their way to the makeup aisle.
Rin sighed, bracing herself for some forced social interaction. If working in retail had taught her anything, it was that most people were flaming piles of garbage.
Oh, wait, there aren't any monsters that look like piles of trash, are there?
She made a mental note to do some research on the subject. She didn't want to insult anybody.
The girls entered her aisle and Rin gave them a broad smile. They ignored her, making little sounds of disdain.
It didn’t take more than a glance to know immediately who the ringleader was. She wore sky-high wedge sandals, expensive name-brand clothes, and her hair was pastel pink. The other girls were nicely dressed, but no one even came close to her class.
As they picked up and compared makeup, talking about the pros and cons of different brands, the leader voiced her opinion about each item. She never said a single positive thing, no matter what her friends discussed. It was like watching a snobby medieval princess interact with with her ladies-in-waiting.
"Well, not all of us are loaded like you, Jenna." One girl grumbled. "We have to settle for the cheap stuff."
A hush fell over the group. Rin wasn't a part of the conversation, but even she could feel the tension rise. She turned and pretended to be busy fishing things out of a box.
After a moment, she heard the leader, Jenna, clear her throat. "Which one did you want, Chloe?" She asked.
Rin watched the girl who must have been Chloe out of the corner of her eye. She looked at the shelf and picked up a plum-colored lip gloss, handing it to Jenna.
"This shade makes me want to vom. Which was your favorite, Elise?"
One by one, each of the girls picked up their favorite shade of lip gloss and handed them to the Jenna, who pointed out the flaws in their choices. It didn't take long for her to have a fistful of disappointments in her hand.
"All of these are absolute trash." She declared, raising her voice slightly. "I wouldn't pay a single cent for any of them, and neither should you." Then, with the fluidity of a seasoned professional, the girl turned away from Rin and shoved all of the tubes into her pocket.
Rin smiled to herself.
Gotcha, princess. The cameras might be broken on this side of the store, but you are so going down.
She gave the gaggle a few minutes to move on to the next aisle before heading to the manager's office.
"James!" She opened the door to a tired, middle-aged man. "I just saw a girl steal some makeup."
"Cosmetics?" He glanced at the security feeds. The one over the makeup aisle was black. "Damn. Are you sure she did?"
"Positive." Rin nodded. "There are six tubes of lip gloss in her jacket pocket."
James nodded. "Get to the checkout. I'll meet you there."
Rin closed the door and jogged toward the front of the store. She couldn't help the smile that tugged at her lips. Catching shoplifters red-handed came with a certain...thrill.
A few minutes later, the group of girls made their way over to the register. In her head, Rin counted them.
One, two, three, four, five- hey, weren't there six of them?
"I found the Twinkies!" Came a voice from behind Rin and something bumped into her hip.
"Oops!" The sixth girl said, her tone dripping with sarcasm. "Sorry. I didn't see you there."
She went around the counter and joined the group. "Here, Jenna. Do we want anything else?"
The door chimed as someone entered. It was a fire elemental, dressed in slacks and a button down shirt. Rin had never seen a man of fire before and she was fascinated, but she didn't have much time to dwell on him.
James came around the corner and approached the princess with an air of authority. "I need you to empty your pockets, miss."
"Excuse me?" The girl looked offended.
"You can drop the act." Rin said flatly. "I saw you put lip gloss in your pocket."
"This is insane!" The princess scrunched her face and tried to work up some tears. "First you're rude to me and my friends, and now you accuse me of stealing?" She looked at the manager. "How can you employ people like this?"
James shifted uncomfortably but motioned to her pockets again. "If there's nothing there, then you have nothing to hide."
She wiped the non-existent tears from her eyes and sighed. "Of course. I'd be happy to-"
She pulled her hands from her jacket. For a heartbeat, the girl stared down at the single tube of lip gloss in her fingers.
Just one? Where did the other-?
"How. Dare. You." She put down the tube and slapped her hands on the counter. "Did you crawl up from under the mountain like the rest of them? Because you are a monster!"
Rin flinched, and she saw the fire elemental's head whip around at the comment. Briefly, they made eye contact. She hoped that he could read the apology she was silently sending him.
"What are you-?"
"You planted this on me!" The princess shrieked. "You probably did it to distract the manager so you could steal from the store! I bet your pockets are full of makeup."
"That's ridiculous." Rin patted her work vest to prove that-
A lump clinked in her pocket.
"See?!? I told you!" Jenna pointed at Rin, looking at the manger. "Empty her pockets and tell me I'm wrong!"
"Rin?" Her manager seemed genuinely confused. "What's in your pocket?"
Slowly, Rin pulled out the missing five lip glosses and set them on the counter.
How? How did she-?
She sucked in a breath.
The girl who hip-checked me! She must have slipped them in my pocket at the same time!
She looked up at her manager pleadingly. "James, this isn't what it looks like."
He crossed his arms. "Wait for me in the manager's office."
Panic began to rise in her throat. "But, I didn't-!"
"Now, Rin."
Deflated, she moved out from behind the counter and down the main aisle toward the office. As she passed the fire elemental, she caught a glance from his direction.
Was that...pity? Or disgust?
~~~
Waiting in the office felt like an eternity. She had been nothing but a model employee since she started working there, and she was hoping that James would listen to reason.
She thought about the fire elemental and cringed.
He probably thinks I'm just another terrible human being.
She rubbed her eyes. Rin understood what it felt like to be unwelcome. A child of the system, she had been shuffled from house to house where the adults only cared about the paycheck she brought with her.
Her father had abandoned the family when she was very young. To her mother’s credit, she really did try to be the best mom she could be in that situation. And for a while, they had a happy life. But Rin couldn’t fill the hole that her father had left in her mother’s heart. She started dating again, and, unfortunately, none of them were very good people. They took advantage of her mom and their home. Encouraged by her boyfriends, she turned to drugs to cope.
Things spiraled out of control rather quickly after that. Abusing prescription pain meds eventually led her mom to harder drugs like heroin. Rin would come home from school and have to take care of her mom. Sometimes she was just passed out on the couch, and Rin would cover her up with a blanket; other times, Rin would have to defend herself when she was belligerent and angry. Rin hid the damage pretty well, but her teacher reported her bruises to Child Protective Services, and it didn’t take long for CPS to remove her from the home.
Her mother followed Rin from house to house. She would beg the foster parents for time with her daughter, only to steal things to pawn for money to pay for her next fix. Her foster parents would blame Rin for the missing items and dump her back with CPS to be placed in a new home. It was a vicious cycle.
Ten years later, she finally became an adult and worked hard to live on her own. She had managed to scrape by for two years, moving to a new apartment whenever her mom figured out where she was staying. Rin didn’t really have any friends, and people looked down on her when they found out her story.
She liked to think that she’d grown thick-skinned over time, but seeing the nut jobs from town treat the monsters in the same way upset her.
She really wanted monsters to trust her. Or, at least for them to know that they could trust her; that she was one person in the human population who didn't want to run them out of town. She sighed and leaned back in the chair.
Well. You're doing a bang-up job of that, aren't you? Criminals are veeeery trustworthy.
When James finally returned, Rin knew she was doomed. It was written all over his face. In the end, he agreed not to press charges as long as she quit her job on the spot. Nothing she said seemed to getting through to him, so she took the deal and left.
It was dark outside when she went through the doors. The fury she had suppressed throughout the ordeal had long since fizzled out, but she scanned the parking lot for the brat anyway. Of course, the lot was empty.
Figures.
With a sigh, she turned her feet in the direction of home. The apartment complex was a little under ten blocks from the pharmacy, which was the closest job she'd had to her place since her bike was stolen the year before. That's why scoring a position there had been such a blessing. Now her thoughts spun in circles.
Where will I find another job? How will I get there? I have enough money for next month's rent, but how will I buy food?
Her feet knew the way well, so Rin didn't have to pay much attention to her surroundings. They hadn't changed in the past few months anyway. There were a couple of fast food joints, darkened store-fronts (many of which were empty), and a park with an ice cream shop right next door.
It was as she was passing the ice cream place that a sound shook her from her reverie: a laugh.
Her laugh.
She felt anger sweep her body from her head to her toes and she charged up the hill to the picnic tables. There she was: the princess, surrounded by her friends and enjoying an ice cream cone.
"You are going to pay for what you've done." Rin growled, marching up to her.
The momentary surprise on the girl's face passed quickly and she put on an innocent look. "I don't know what you mean. I just can't understand why someone would do something so awful to a complete stranger."
Her friends tittered as a wicked smile spread across her face.
"You cost me my job!" Rin practically yelled.
The girl stood, tossing what ice cream she had left into the nearest trash can. "Your job is not my problem." She took a few steps toward Rin. "My name is Jenna Brighton. My grandfather owns that pharmacy. You're lucky that I don't call the cops on you."
"Listen here, you evil bi-"
"Ah ah ah! Language! There are children around!" Jenna tsked and dropped a crumpled ball at her feet. "Here's five dollars. Buy yourself something sweet to balance out all the crazy in your system. You obviously need it."
Laughing, she motioned to her friends and they started down the hill toward her car.
"Well MY name is Rin Locklear!" Rin shouted after them. "And I'm going to tell every local business what you've done. I'll plaster your face on posters and warn every shop in the area. You won't be able to walk into a single store once I'm through!"
But the girls just laughed and flipped her off as they drove out into the night.
Rin was stunned. Sure, she'd been picked on in school, but no one had ever treated her so cruelly for no reason at all. She retrieved the money and sat down on the nearest bench. As she unfolded the bill, she noticed that there was a lipstick kiss on one end...made with plum-colored lip gloss.
The tears came unbidden, and the harder she tried to stop them, the faster they streamed down her face.
What am I going to do?

There we go! Stay tuned for part two! Let me know what you think!

Episode 23 End
Scene 12:
[Less than an hour later it is dark and the planetarium is almost full. Steven. Wallace and Dizzy are sitting in a row together, but Steven keeps glancing around. Eventually he hops out of his seat.]
Steven: I’m going to look for Ren.
Wallace: Don’t be too long
[Steven edges his way out of the row and then out through the planetarium doors. He scans the lobby and sees Ren walking in the front doors.]
Steven: There you are! It’s about to start.
Ren: Sorry I’m late. I actually only came to tell you I’m gonna watch outside with my pokemon. Care to join us?
Steven: And waste my ticket? Of course I will.
[Ren smiles at him and they walk out into the night together. They barely get ten feet from the door before the entire island goes dark.]
Steven: So where to?
Ren: Your place?
Steven: Sounds perfect. So what kept you?
Ren: I decided to put the orbs back on Mt. Pyre. Kyogre severed their connection with me.
Steven: Is that safe?
Ren: I doubt anyone is gonna try and awaken them any time soon now that everyone’s had a fresh look at the kind of damage they can do. And if anyone tries, I’ll be around to stop them. I’m not worried.
Steven: [laughing] You’re right.
Ren: And it just felt right too, like closing a chapter. It’s time to start something else now.
Steven: I’ve felt that too. I’ve been doing a lot of thinking and I’m going to take you up on that job offer, if you’ll have me.
Ren: [smiling big enough to split her face in two] Anything to get Drake Nathan out of my life.
Steven: Ren!
Ren: I’m joking! Sorry! [mumbling] Feelings are hard sometimes. Besides, you know perfectly well I’d like nothing better.
Steven: Really?
Ren: Yes! [He laughs again but she is quiet for a moment.] Are you sure though? You have plenty of time to decide.
Steven: I am. Believe it or not the world almost ending really helped put some things in perspective. I realized there are some things I’m much more afraid to lose and not much else I’d rather do.
Ren: And nothing stops you from pursuing other things just because you’re on the Elite Four. If you need to travel, we’ll work something out.
Steven: You’re wonderful, do you know that?
[When they get to his cottage, Kotai and all of Steven’s pokemon are waiting for them. Ren sends out the rest of hers and they all settle down in the grass. Ren and Steven lay next to each other with Taraki and Bessemer beside them. The meteor shower has already begun and bright streaks light up the night. It almost seem like you can see forever up into the blackness and no matter where you look there are little points of light. Ren reaches for Steven’s hand and he knits their fingers together.]
Ren: So Steven, about what you said yesterday, did you mean it in a platonic way or a romantic way?
[Steven takes a few seconds to respond and Ren holds her breath.]
Steven: Both.
[She squeezes his hand tight and he turns to look at her.]
Ren: [relieved laughter] Good. Me too.
[Steven smiles and squeezes her hand back.]
Steven: It’s good to be on the same page… I'm sorry it took so long.
Ren: Don't be. This is better, I think, a lot better.
[She rolls over onto his chest and rests her head on her arms so she can look down at him. He smiles up at her and she grins back.]
Ren: But out of curiosity, how long have you been into me? [He squirms uncomfortably.] Want me to go first? [He nods.] To be honest, I wanted to smash my face into your face pretty much from the get go. [He laughs.] And it was a weird thing for me. I’d never felt that way about anyone before and it had sort of gotten to the point where I thought I never would. [She shrugs.] And then you had to be a wonderful person on top of it. I was definitely gone by Meteor Falls.
[He reaches up to stroke her cheek and she leans into his touch.]
Steven: It was a lot more gradual for me. You’re younger and you had only just gotten your first badge when we met. Meanwhile, I was the Champion. I just thought I’d keep an eye on you for Senri. But after you bonded with Latios and more or less took the reigns on taking down Magma, I guess I sort of started to see you differently.
Ren: More like I demanded you did. But this was an unintended consequence for the record.
Steven: I didn’t mean for this either. [He flinches and draws his hand away.] Shit! Was that a little too honest? I’m sorry if I’m ruining the moment.
Ren: Don’t be ridiculous. I'm glad we both followed our better judgement. Things are much more even between us now and we actually know each other. There’s a lot less room for a colossal disaster. Although, I’ll level with you: I’ve never actually dated anyone before, so I guess I’m still woefully unprepared.
Steven: Do you think we shouldn’t…
Ren: NO! [Steven starts at her sudden forcefulness] I’m sorry. What I mean is: if you're willing, we are so totally doing this. [crooked smile] Woefully unprepared is how I like to enter all the major commitments of my life. Are you sure you want to do this though? Things will be awkward.
Steven: Yeah, and maybe a little more difficult than I was anticipating. It never occurred to me that I’d be your first relationship.
Ren: [looking away] Yeah…
Steven: Thank you for telling me. I hope you know that I don’t expect anything from you. I like where we are now.
Ren: [She lays her head on his chest and hugs him.] Thank you.
Steven: [petting her back] We’ll be careful. You’ll tell me if I ever do anything to make you uncomfortable, won’t you?
Ren: You bet I will. I ain’t shy. Plus I can kick your ass.
Steven: [smiling] That’s true.
[She sighs in contentment and snuggles into him. All around them their pokemon are staring up at the sky and talking quietly to each other. Steven looks up too, smiling fit to burst. He feels Ren shift on his chest he turns his attention back to her.]
Ren: And you’re sure you don’t mind being stuck with [pointing at the scarred side of her face] this?
Steven: [completely taken aback] What?
Ren: By your own admission you’re pretty vain, Steven.
Steven: Ren, not that it matters, but I think you’re beautiful.
Ren: [rolling her eyes] Tsh. Charmer.
Steven: I’m serious. I—how can you think otherwise? Just looking at you right now with the stars falling behind you, and that light in your eyes… I can’t even picture anything I’d like to look at more.
Ren: [She snorts.] It’s dark and I’m disfigured. You can’t deny that.
Steven: So it’s possible not everyone is as enlightened as I am.
Ren: Steven.
Steven: So what if other people can’t see past it? I don’t have to look past it. It’s part of you and I love it. I love your freckles and your little button nose and your huge fucking eyebrows. I love that amazing jawline and the way your whole face scrunches up when you’re annoyed. Sometimes I want to smack myself because it took me so long to notice your eyes are green and I could have been looking at them for months now. [Her expression softens, but he is still a bit too agitated to stop.] You’re beautiful to me. And I hope you can see yourself that way. [almost petulant] Maybe I’ve been blinded by your other charms. [obstinate] I stand by my opinion regardless.
[Bessemer and a few of the others snicker and Steven huffs. Ren smiles and shifts her weight so that she can stroke Steven’s hair. He closes his eyes and lays his head back, tension leaving his body.]
Ren: I can’t argue with that. Why don’t you tell me about these charms instead?
Steven: Well first off, you don’t take any of my shit.
Ren: [quirking an eyebrow] And you like that?
Steven: Absolutely. I become a real shit-peddler when people let me and most people let me. I don’t like that Steven. And you always cut me down a peg when I’m being too vain. And you drag me out when I’m getting too self-involved.
Ren: Again, you’re saying that you like this, right?
Steven: What I’m trying to get at is that I like the Steven I have to be with you, even if I grouse about it sometimes.
Ren: That—that is so fucking sweet… I have no idea how to top that.
Steven: [relieved] Oh, good. For a moment I was scared I was screwing this up.
Ren: [soft teasing smile] Aww, were you nervous?
Steven: A little. I’ve never had it quite this bad before.
Ren: [turning beet red and groaning] Stop it! This is so much cuter than all of my dumb fantasies. [thumping her forehead against his chest] You’re killing me!
Steven: This is going pretty well. We’re covering a lot of ground.
Ren: That’s for sure. [popping back up] And we haven’t even kissed yet. [smirking down at him] Isn’t that supposed to be before we discuss all the ins and outs of our relationship?
Steven: We can do things in whatever order we want.
Ren: But how do we know this will even work? What if we’re not compatible?
Steven: [smirking up at her] If you want to kiss me, all you have do is ask.
Ren: May I kiss you, Steven Stone?
Steven: Please do.
[She grins and climbs the rest of the way on to of him, planting her hands in the grass on either side of his head to get a little leverage. He reaches out and touches her cheek, running his fingers along it and back to tuck her hair behind her ear. She leans in and he moves to meet her. It is soft at first but after a few moments, she pushes harder into him. He responds in kind, tilting his head slightly so that they don't bump noses. She puts her weight on one arm so she can run a hand through his hair and his hands run up her back. After a bit more he pulls back just a little.]
Steven: Well, what do you think?
Ren: You know what the hell you’re doing.
Steven: Benefits of being a slut.
[She laughs and kisses him again. He arches into it, pulling her tighter against him, she hums happily.]
Taraki: Whoa! Did everyone see that?
[They break apart and look over only to find Taraki is looking up at the meteor shower like the rest of the pokemon.]
Ren: Kuso! We’re totally missing my show! [rolling off Steven] More makeouts later.
[Steven grabs her hand and squeezes it tight as he turns his gaze back to the sky and she gives him a squeeze in return.]
Bessemer: Thanks for that, Taraki. I was about to say something myself, but I didn’t want to interrupt.
Kata: One of us had to.
Ao: We wouldn’t want you to miss the whole thing.
Ren: Sorry about that everyone. It must have been weird listening to half that conversation. Steven was a perfect gentleman, don’t worry.
Teka: We heard the whole thing. Bessemer has been translating for us.
Bessemer: It was more efficient that way.
Akahata: And Kata filled us in.
Pohaku: [wriggling in delight] I can’t wait to tell Panahi!
Kotai: Aye, she’ll be right proud.
Ren: Oh gods.
Steven: Are yours giving you a hard time? Half of mine were taking bets apparently.
Naihi: We were too. Is that considered rude?
[Ren starts laughing and so does Steven. She edges closer to be in more contact with Steven and he tilts his head to touch hers. Ren reaches out with her other arm and takes Taraki’s hand and he lets out a contented sigh. They all look up at the brilliant rain of meteors and smile. All around the region others are watching too. Kai and Wally are in their reclined seats in the planetarium, hands joined and armrest still tucked away between them. Wallace’s head rests on Dizzy’s shoulder and Dizzy smiles contentedly. Josh and his pokemon are on the roof of Courtney’s mansion taking turns looking through a telescope and marveling at the sight. Courtney herself meanwhile is on a small deserted island with her and Maxie’s pokemon around her. She is reading a letter with the aid of her ninetails’s will-o-wisp. She gets to the end and sets it down. We can see that the signature at the end is Maxie’s before her ninetails puts out the lights and she looks up at the sky. Archie and Maxie watch from the fenced in yard of a prison. Maxie is in the standard issue orange jumpsuit while Archie has a big visitor sticker on his breast pocket. The orb guardians are watching from the top of Mt. Pyre where the orbs are now back in their place at the shrine. Latios and Latias watch by the pool on their island that once again holds their soul dews. Ikki and her mate watch while a little surskit skates across a pond, chasing the reflections of the meteors. Putenga watches with her apprentices from a clearing in the Petalburg Woods. Panahi and her coordinator watch from one of the field in Fallarbor and Mele and his agent watch from Lighthouse Point in Lilycove. Terra and Moana are lying on a beach with their camerupt and sharpedo nearby. Asuka, Senri, Roxanne and the Birches are watching from a bridge over the estuary near Littleroot. And at the top of the waterfall in Meteor falls, Zinnia stands with her pokemon, parents, and grandmother, looking up at the sky. Even Aster, who cannot see, has her face turned upward. Zinnia’s eyes brighten and a tear runs down her face. She holds Aster tighter in her arms and her mother and grandmother each put a hand on her shoulders. Tears continue to fall and she lets them, never looking away from all the lights in the vast universe beyond. For just a little while all of Hoenn is dark, quiet and at peace.]

Title: Better if you don’t ask Summary: Several years after escaping a bad time run, Grillby wonders what happened to an old flame. Warnings: swearing, death mention, blood mention, everyone is sad and no one makes out
It had been several years since the monsters had pushed their way past the barrier and thrown themselves at the mercy of the humans. There was an uneasy peace between the two species; the monsters had given up a lot in order to secure their safety, but the death of king Asgore and the missing queen had put many of them at ease. Leaderless and fleeing for their lives, the monsters seemed a great deal weaker than they had during the war, and many of the humans who had originally sealed them underground had passed on. The upside to the fleeting lifespan of a human was that public opinion changed relatively fast. Still, Grillby found it hard to get too comfortable. He'd felt lost since they'd fled the underground; directionless. He opened his bar on the surface if only to regain some sense of control and order. But the war with humanity had left him scarred mentally, and a busy Saturday night with the bar packed full of humans and monsters alike was full of mishaps. Alcohol and species barely recovering from war didn't mix so well; some days it felt like even the smallest accidental brush from a human hand while passing a cold drink over the counter could send Grillby spiralling into a panic attack. He couldn't outright ban humans, that would be enough to start a riot (if not another war), but he didn't have the heart to close the doors for good, either. More and more often, Grillby thought back to the underground. Things had been calm, and monsters had been such a tight knit community. On the surface there was a lot of space, and most monsters had scattered to more secluded areas and started keeping to themselves in the hopes that their families wouldn't be slaughtered should another human go off the rails. Grillby found himself thinking about the underground more with each passing day. Specifically...the small skeleton that had frequented his bar so often before. The skeleton who had insisted he leave with the others. “You have to go, Grillby.”    “Sans, you've never done an honest day's work in your life. You've never even met a human. I fought in the war. If anyone's going to hold the human off, it'll be me.” Sans looked more serious than he ever had before. The bags under his eyes were heavy, and his usual friendly grin was more of a permanent grimace these days. His posture was as slouched as ever, but instead of looking laid back he looked... Dangerous.    Sans stared him down, unblinking. The two had been fighting about this on and off for hours while Sans coordinated the evacuation of the underground with Alphys. Grillby wanted to stay and defend his home. Sans told him he had to go. “What do you think happens if the humans don't accept them.” Grillby flinched. “We can't think about that right now, we have to--” “We have to think about that right now,” Sans spoke with a lot of patience, but he could tell the conversation was beginning to exasperate him. He felt like Sans thought he was speaking to a child. A child he'd explained a very simple concept to many times before. It pissed him off, but Sans continued before he could tell him to shove his suicidal bravery up his ass. “If the humans attack when the others get to the surface, they're gonna need someone who knows what they're doing. Everyone who fought in the war has decided to stay and fight, and if we're only sending untrained monsters up there, who is going to defend them?” Grillby's flames burned a little brighter as he felt his anger spike again. Sans had made an excellent point, and he hated it. Sans' expression softened for the first time since he'd scooped up his brother's dust. “You know I'm right. Please, Grillby. Help them. They don't have anyone to watch 'em.” “Come with us.” “Hah,” Sans' grin returned, but it was brittle. “Can't. Me an' the kid have unfinished business.” “He's gone, Sans. Getting in the human's way isn't going to--” “I have to. I wish...” He looked at Grillby with a pained longing that he knew all too well before shaking his head and clearing his throat. “This is how it has to be. Trust me. I'm good at dodging.” He shrugged at Grillby. “Way I figure it, I can keep the kid busy long enough for you, Alphys and the others to get out've here. But if I go with ya I don't think your chances will be nearly as good. I know I don't look or act like much but you'll just have to trust me on this one, kay?” Grillby frowned at the small skeleton for a long moment. “Please, Grillby. We're so short on time as it is.” “.....Fine.” It had been years. Grillby figured if the humans on the surface didn't get them the one at their backs would. But there hadn't been any sign of trouble from the mountain for years. At Asgore's instruction, they'd blocked off the entrance of the cave with a few well-placed attacks at some unstable looking rocks, and everyone had assumed the small child wreaking havoc on the underground had died down there. If any monsters had survived, they would have been able to escape the rubble easily. But Mt. Ebott was quiet. Grillby and Sans' relationship had been....rocky at best. There were a lot of good times, but Sans wanted more than Grillby could offer, and if Grillby was being completely fair he should have known to break off 'whatever it was they were doing' (as Sans would have put it) a long time ago. Still. He'd felt....something. He missed him. He missed the good times. And Sans had died alone in the dark with a psychopath. Maybe it was the guilt of leaving, or the stress of trying to make life on the surface work. Whatever it was, it lead Grillby back to the pile of rocks that had once been The Barrior at Mt. Ebott. There was a good chance he was going to die down there, but... Maybe there was a chance that Sans was still down there, too. Grillby took a deep, calming breath. And with a bit of effort, he willed his flames between the tiny crevices between the rocks, reforming on the other side of the rock slide. He blinked, his eyes adjusting to the sudden darkness just beyond the light of his own body. He spent a few minutes there, just listening to the eerie stillness of that dark room, waiting for any sign of the human. Nothing. Finally working up the courage to move forward, Grillby walked into the King's throne room. Please, please, please god please be there, please— Grillby entered the throne room and instantly had to hang onto the door frame for support. The once peaceful garden was covered in dust. Asgore's dust. Fuck. Grillby did his best to walk around it, but the dust seemed to be everywhere. He felt nauseous as dread filled every fibre of his being with each step towards what Sans had always curiously called the 'Judgment Hall'. It was empty, but it was pretty obvious that there had been a fight. Blood and dust was scattered around the room, and the floors and ceilings had taken a lot of damage. Grillby fought through the urge to turn back. He was going to visit his bar no matter what. Even if the human had killed their king. A boss monster. Stronger than any of them. Maybe...maybe Sans could have hidden, or... Grillby knew better. The look on Sans' face when they'd left was not the look of someone who was afraid. He was angry. He was going to get Justice, no matter what. There wasn't a sound in all the underground aside from Grillby's solemn footsteps. Everywhere he went was covered with dust; the human hadn't left a single monster alive from what he could tell. By the time he made it to Gerson's, he'd expected to find signs of a battle but—nothing. No dust behind his shop's counter, thank god. But no sign of Gerson either. Grillby didn't think the human could take him, but it wasn't like Gerson to wander off from his post. Grillby decided to keep moving. Eventually he reached Snowdin. It was abandoned and while the buildings were dark, the street lamps were on. The CORE was still operational, so it didn't surprise him, but having seen the previous bustling life of the families that had once lived in town, the quiet stillness was unnerving. Especially at the house of the skeleton brothers. Papyrus used to yell at Sans so loud about his socks and his pet rock that the whole town could hear their comedic carrying on, but now there was just silence. Silence and dust. Grillby thought to check and see if Sans was in there, but something distracted him. A light he hadn't expected; a light he hadn't left on. Someone was at Grillby's. He almost started to run for his former bar before common sense kicked in and reminded him that the human was still trapped down here. Everyone had assumed that they'd starve before they could get through the rocks, but there was a chance they hadn't made it through all the food reserves yet. They could live down here for years. He approached as quietly as he could, careful not to make a sound as his hand fell on the doorknob. He prepared himself to spring into action the second the door opened before he turned the knob and opened the door, nudging it open with his foot in case he needed his hands free to defend himself. The door creaked open to reveal a dusty, dishevelled restaurant. There were quite a few empties on the floor and counter, and as he cautiously proceeded forward to look around, he noticed a few empty ketchup bottles around too. “S.....Sans....?” There was a moment of absolute silence. Nothing stirred. Then, groggily, from one of the booth's—Sans' favourite, to be precise— “Grillbs?” The bartender rushed to the source of the noise, throwing the door closed behind him in case the human was near. He found Sans in the booth, surrounded by empty bottles of beer and ketchup. A less experienced monster might have thought those were ketchup stains on Sans' jacket, pants and slippers, but Grillby knew better. He'd fought humans in the past, he knew what happened when you cut them. “Holy shit, you're alive—And you've made a goddamn mess.” Sans blinked at him for a minute, his alcohol-addled mind desperately trying to distinguish whether he was hallucinating or not. Once he had a moment to process, he let out a hearty laugh. “Hehhehheh, sorry....Sorry, Grillbs. I figured uh.... you probably wouldn't be using the bar anymore. Y'guys sealed the exits. So I figured that's a pretty good sign yer not coming back for it.” He grinned up at Grillby, but something seemed to click in just then. “Wait. You didn't.... You didn't move the rocks, did you?” Grillby felt his stomach sink. “No...I simply moved through them.” “Ah,” Sans nodded after recalling how 'malleable' Grillby's body could be. “Makes sense. S'good.” Grillby's eyebrows knitted together in concern. “Sans, I'm so sorry, we didn't know you were still down here. We thought... we thought the human must have...” He shook his head. “Let's get out of here, okay?” Sans seemed to sober up almost instantly. “No.” Grillby's eyes widened in shock. “No? Aren't you alone down here?” “You have to leave, Grillby.” “Sans, I came all this way, you can't just—” “Damnit Grillby, it's not safe, you have to LEAVE.” Sans leaned forward and slammed his hand on the table, knocking several empty bottles over, his left eye glowing cyan and yellow. Grillby took a step backwards, raising his hands defensively. He'd never seen Sans' eye do that. “Sans,” he spoke gently. “Didn't you kill the human?” Sans stared at him for a moment before his eye returned to normal and he leaned back. “Heh....heh heh. Hahaha!” Sans was almost doubled over in laughter, his head in his hands. The laughter soon turned to sobs and Grillby, having a very poor track record of comforting people (especially Sans), watched him devolve into hysterics with no idea how to calm him down. It took a few minutes, but Sans eventually went quiet. “You have to leave me here, Grillby.” Sans said after an uncomfortable silence had settled in. “For me?” He tried to smile up at the flame monster, but it was strained and sad. “Where is the human, Sans?” Grillby was more firm this time, and Sans seemed to realize he wasn't going to back down. He sighed. “The kid is gone, for now.” “For now? What happened?” “Asgore was my fault. I just got so tired, I missed them by maybe a second—that's all it took. Poor guy never stood a chance.” “What? No, you couldn't have known—” “I knew,” Sans snapped, glaring up at him. “I knew and I thought, that's it, they're gonna grab the souls and destroy everything, but they didn't. They circled back for me. I guess it's personal now, and that's fine by me.” “But...” Grillby shook his head. Better to leave that alone and get the whole picture first. “Okay, so where did they go?” Sans laughed, bitter and mirthless. “Same place they always go. They came at me, I killed 'em. They came back. Had another go. Same thing. Repeat over and over till they finally win. Then they destroy all of us.” Grillby was absolutely lost, now. “What do you mean they come back?” Sans sighed, his head tilting back until his tired stare was focused on the ceiling. “Look, I can't.... I can't explain this to you again. See, what happened was, we fought a couple years ago and they tried 'mercy'. So I killed the kid while their guard was down. I told them, if we're friends, you won't come back. And they haven't. Yet.” He finally turned his gaze on Grillby, and for the first time ever it made Grillby feel cold. “So you have to go, Grillby. And I have to stay. Because when they come back they aren't going to stop until they kill everyone, underground or surface.” Grillby stared at him, mouth agape as he struggled to process what Sans was trying to say. Sans had been fighting the human all this time? Years? Eventually he latched on to the one thing he knew. “The....the rocks, they can't... they're just a human, they can't move the rocks.” Sans shook his head. “The rocks don't ever work, Grillby.” “What?” “The rocks,” Sans spoke gently, patiently, as he finally made his way out of the booth. “They don't ever stop them.” He walked to Grillby, who took another step back. Sans took both his hands and looked up at him. “I miss you... a lot, but... you can't stay here. They're going to kill me. They'll kill you. The rocks are for peace of mind, and to buy some time, but near as I can figure they don't ever last long once I'm gone.” He paused, staring off into the distance. “But then, I guess I'm not usually around to see that part. So I suppose I can't be sure. Call it a hunch.” “That makes no sense! Humans can't come back from the dead, and you're telling me this has happened before? Sans, I—” Sans straightened, his eyes wide as he looked to the door. “There isn't time.” “What? Sans, you're hurting me.” Sans was holding onto Grillby's hands so tightly it was as if he were afraid he might slip away if Sans let go. But he still wasn't looking at him. There was a flash of cyan, and Grillby felt the world tilt and the ground seemed to disappear beneath his feet; suddenly, there was light, and noise seemed to rush in from all sides. Grillby stumbled as Sans let go and it took him a moment to figure out they were in his bar on the surface, in his office. Judging by how much noise there was out in the dining room, it was around five or six at night. Grillby found a garbage can to wretch into. He just barely caught Sans speaking to him. “I'm so sorry, I wish...I wish there was more time, another way, something...” Sans' voice had begun to shake, and as Grillby wiped his mouth and looked back he could see the strain on Sans' face. “I have to...I have to stop them, okay? I'll see you again before ya know it, heh,” He grinned, tears spilling down his cheeks. “Please don't ever come looking for me again, okay? I have to stay behind.” “Sans, wait—” Another flash of cyan swallowed Sans up, and he was gone. Grillby stood there, staring at the space where Sans had been just moments before. He wasn't sure how long he'd been standing there when one of his employees leaned into the office. “Hey boss, you want me to—whoa, you look terrible. Everything okay?” “Out.” “What?” “Get out.” He walked over to the door and slammed it shut, hearing a muffled 'yikes, fine' from the other side of the door. He went back to his desk and opened a drawer, pulling out an old bottle of whisky. Grillby poured himself a drink.

How will adding 40 million more people to the Health Insurance rolls improve Health Care?
But don't be misled. We know the status quo is unsustainable. If we do nothing, millions more Americans will be denied insurance because of pre-existing conditions, or see their coverage suddenly dropped if they become seriously ill. Out-of-pocket expenses will continue to soar, and more and more families and businesses will be forced to deal with health insurance costs they cant afford. I have a private policy for my second car (my non work runaround) and it is limited to 3000miles per year. Can't afford college Health Insurance...?
I need some type of advice regarding my options. I feel like i've hit a dead end. I have a 4.0 and financial aid, however my state requires student have health insurance... and the only insurance my school offers is over $80 a week on top of the $85 a week lab fees, dr visits, and meds because I have a severe blood disorder and need to go get my blood check every week. I also have specialist visits once a month. I have medicaid right now and if I go to school at all I will lose it and I can't afford the student insurance. It would total up to be more than my rent each month not to mention they don't cover pre-existing conditions. I feel totally hopeless. I'm willing to move to another state if necessary where insurance is more affordable. I just really wanted to go to medical school and now I feel like my future is shot all because I'm not healthy.... How does the age of a car factor into the cost of car insurance?
Obviously there is more than one factor that influences the cost of car insurance. I know that when a car is newer, it usually costs more to insure than a car that is older. For example, a 2009 Chevy Impala is more expensive to insure than a 1983 VW. But, suppose I bought a vehicle like a 1957 Lincoln, 1955 GMC, or a 1956 Plymouth (or some other car from that time period)? If it wasnt something that people easily recognize like more popular cars from that time period, would it cost less to insure? (They arent as recognizable or popular, in the sense that if one was driving a 1957 Chevy, or a 1959 Cadillac or a Thunderbird, most people would instantly know what it was, but if I drove a 1957 Lincoln or a 1955 GMC, most people wouldnt immediately know what it was.)""

""Anyone know where I can get 1 day car insurance, i'm under 21?""
I am 20 years old, and taking my car in for a service to VW whom have offered me a courtesy car as I need to get to work etc throughout the day and pick the car up in the evening. Only problem is they won't let me use their insurance policy as i'm under 21 and after calling my insurance today who clearly said to me we do not deal with temporary cover even for existing customers . I therefore asked how much it would cost to add another car to the policy and they want an initial payment of 97 and I will have to pay ATLEAST the first months payment after which i can then cancel which is a rather expensive way of doing this. Any information/help is greatly appreciated! :)""

Trying to get cheaper auto insurance?
I live in NYC where auto insurance is extremely high. I wanted to know if mom and pop auto insurance companies are cheaper than top named auto insurance companies like Allstate, state farm, etc. The top auto insurance companies are giving me really high quotes. I see a lot of small business insurance companies in the neighborhood. I wonder if they will give me a lower quote and are they just as good as allstate or state farm, etc.? Thanks.""
Will Hillary's Plans to End the War and Create an Affordable Health Plan Work?
Hilary thinks things through. She's pragmatic and capable of modifying things to work in an evolving world. She understands the give and take of a complex economy and her goal is to restore peace and prosperity; unity and pride. Whenever I hear an Obama supporter claim Obama will end the war or deliver a health insurance plan that works I think -- Don't bet on it. Obama tries to copy Hillary, but doesn't understand the complexities at the level she does, not does he seem consistent about anything. He's also more in the pocket of Special interests than Hillary -- though he denies that all the time -- not good. I have utmost confidence that Hillary is brilliant and dedicated and knows how to create solutions that work. The things she talks about, are what she will deliver, you can see that by observing her voting record. Hillary does what she says she will do, that's why I trust Hillary. Hillary '08""

Car Insurance Policy When Not Vehicle Owner?
Can anyone help? My boss has bought me a car but because Renault were unable to put the finance agreement in the company name it had to go in his name, which meant that the ownership of the vehicle did too. Not the problem I have is insuring this car as insurance companies won't insurer me as the driver if I am not the car owner unless the car is owned by a spouse etc...so, I am assuming that the only way round this is for my boss to be put as the main driver and me as an additional driver...if this is the case what will happen if I have an accident or conviction, or he does? How much life insurance is enough?
We are looking to get life insurance for my husband and myself. Permanent over term. Im a stay at home mom of 3 kids and we are planning to have another baby. We are currently living in Europe because my husbands job is here. We are renting but want to buy a home. We plan to move back to the US at some point, when my husband can find a secure job there and when we can save the money to be secure in an unstable economy. Basically, if my husband dies (God forbid!!) the children and I would move back to the US and need to buy a house, vehicle and either ship our belongings from Europe or furnish a new house. Plus, I havent worked in about 5 years since I have been raising my babies and I dont have a college education. I do plan to send all the kids to a public university when that day comes. I am capable of working but dont know what kind of paying job I could get with only a hs education. So how much do you think my husbands policy should be? And for myself? Whats the average cost monthly for a married couple having permanent life insurance?""

Insurance question? please help me i need to know what to do.?
im 16, had my license for a little over a month. i live in california. im with allstate. here's what happened: i was backing out of a diagonal parking space. i was at starbucks, mid day. no one else was in the car. i saw a car coming, i let it pass, and i backed out. turns out it didnt clear out all the way. i got the rear end of it. their dent is not too bad, the bumper is fine, its just a little bit of the metal that probably needs to be sucked back out. it is an suv. my dent however was worse. the bumper got dented, and so did some of the medal around it. the brake light has a small crack in it, but its only visible from close up, and it still works. we exchanged information, and he said he will call his insurance company tomorrow morning. will my insurance go up? how much will i need to pay to have his car fixed? whats gonna happen? please help me im freaking out. thank you soo much""

Do you need to be enrolled in school to stay covered under your parents health insurance? Affordable Care Act?
So here's the question in case you don't want to read my wall of text below (but it would be appreciated if you did to further understand my question). I was covered under my moms health insurance while in college and I was told I needed to be enrolled in school to stay covered, I dropped out a while ago and was wondering if I am still covered by law under the Affordable Care Act since I am only 19. I was covered under my mothers health insurance, she works for a private company and she said that I needed to be enrolled in school in order to stay covered by the insurance. But this was close to a year ago if I'm remembering correctly. The reason I'm worried is because I'm taking a break from college, and have had multiple doctor appointments/tests done after I left, but I never had a problem with the insurance going through. I've made myself paranoid into thinking that the company may just not know, and is assuming I'm still in school and will randomly hit me with the costs of the testings and doctor visits if they saw I was not in school, or god forbid somewhere down the road my mother or I are in a serious accident and are dropped because of this. I know this happens all the time, the insurance agencies have people hired to find abnormalities in your history in an attempt to drop you and not have to pay the bills. So would I still be covered under my mothers health insurance even though I'm not currently enrolled in school under the Affordable Care Act? Once again I am 19 also. Thank you""

What medical tests should a 53-year-old man have?
I know there's tests that men should have when they're around the age of 50. My dad hasn't been to the doctor for years because he doesn't have health insurance or a job(he's living with my grandma who's 76). He's resisted going to the doctor and says I'll go once I get a job but he's not really been trying. My brothers and I are worried and some have even offered to pay for a doctor's visit but he's just said no and that he can wait. I'd like to know what tests he should have and how much they cost on average. He's been a generally healthy man, but skin cancer runs in our family and when he was around 40 he had a thing growing on his neck that was some sort of cancer. He had it removed and it hasn't come back but it there some sort of test for things like that? All three of my brothers and I are either English or History teachers and if what my dad needs is affordable we'd all like to pitch in. I know this is sort of scatterbrained- I'm in a rush, so thank you if you can answer this in advance.""

Then is the fringe or outside of heaven revealed in Rev 22:15NIV? “…Outside are the dogs, those who practice magic arts, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters and everyone who loves and practices falsehood.” My active mind sees this as living in the worst third world ghetto imaginable, while being able to see the ‘blessed’ living it up in the palace.
Bottom line— why would anyone risk an eternity without Jesus and God’s love for a ‘maybe-perhaps you can do it all your way’ and still make heaven? Is the risk worth perishing throughout eternity without Love? It’s your choice. You choose.
PRAYER: Papa God, It’s written: “…all the ways that wickedness deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved.’” I ask Sir, don’t allow these perishing ones be in among my readers or our families, in Jesus’ name I pray.  [2Thess 2:10NIV]
