JIA: anyways! we went to a cafe in hannam-dong i really wanted to try. i saw it in yoon seung-ah’s vlogs. they’re known for their bagels and that location specifically has a pretty view of the river so i wanted to take insta pictures.

HAN: OH! and we got lost trying to find it?

JIA: because you insisted, we didn't need directions. HAN: [ROLLS EYES] hey, we found it eventually, didn't we? JIA: after wandering around for an hour! by the time we got there the wait was insane.

HAN: [UNDER HIS BREATH] yeah and the bagels were a bit mid for how long we waited.

JIA: we wouldn’t have had to so long if some had gotten up when i told him to originally AND actually used his phone maps [WACKING HIS SHOULDER TO EMPHAZISE HER POINT]

[THE TWO START TO BAT AT EACH OTHER BEFORE THE SCENCE CUTS]

JIA: i think we should go on a trip together next time we have a vacation. we’ve never gone anywhere just the two of us like that it could be fun.

HAN: a vacation with you….

JIA: what’s that supposed to mean???

HAN: i’m kidding i’m kidding

JIA: yeah sure.

HAN: you are very J so you would make a whole itinerary, wouldn’t you?

JIA: i think having a general plan of what you want to do make sure you get to make the most of you time

HAN: hmmm sure...where would we even go?[THINKING] Japan could be fun. Lots of great food, and it's a short trip. What about you?

JIA: [SMILES] Japan sounds fun. But I'd say Europe. We could explore so many different countries and cultures. I’d love to be able to use my french.

HAN: oh, i have an interesting question, what would we do if the other disappeared.

JIA: oh, this gets a bit serious.

HAN: [SERIOUS] it's funny because i think with any other member, i think i’d want to let them have their space because obviously if they run away, it's for some reason and they want to be alone. but i think if you were so upset that you’d isolate yourself, i’d have to check on you immediately. [ TOWARDS THE CAMERA TO AVOID EYE CONTACT WITH JIEUN ] she isn't someone that likes to be by herself, alone time isn’t really something she seeks because she thrives around others, so i think if she's going out of her way to be by herself like that something is really wrong.

JIA: [A BIT STARTLED AT HIS SERIOUSNESS, AS WELL AS THE SLIGHT READ] aww ji…[POKING HIS ARM] i think i'd obviously want to respect the fact that hanji wanted time alone, but i'd have to check in at some point. [SHE PEEKS AT JISUNG BEFORE CONTINUING A BIT BASHFULLY] i know we have very different social batteries, and hanji is pretty good about just letting me know when he needs some time to himself. but i think if he was to go off and not respond i’d be worried.”

CHAN: honestly, i think out of everyone, jieun has opened up to han the most, besides seungmin.

FELIX: which is interesting because they’re so different.

SEUNGMIN: i think they get on so well because they’re aware of how different they are.

CHANGBIN: oh absolutely. the two used to clash a lot, and i think they came to a point where they had to understand how they were different, and what accommodations they need to make to understand the other better.

JIA: i mean, like you said earlier i’m not one who enjoys being by themselves. i think when i'm alone for too long i begin to think too hard and get into my own head. honestly, i think not being able to properly spend time alone with myself is a bit unhealthy. i kinda admire the fact that you are capable of being on your own and enjoy your own company.

haii, im @retardedhamsters, i dont really care what you call me. i wouldn't mind adam or smiggles, though. im male, use he/him primarily but they/it is also acceptable. as of now i mainly just reblog although i may actually post in the future, once i unearth ideas good enough to be under the 'shwarpshooter' name from my hamster burrow of a brain.

im on a certain spectrum (guess which one!) and because of it i struggle socially. how i act typically depends on who i am interacting with, as i lack a true personality that i can ethically call my own. alone i am not a hateful creature, but in attempt to fit in with others i may drop all morals in order to do so. i dont have my own solid identity by any means and mentally i am typically either a hamster or (often a young version of) lanza. sometimes thats not the case and i am mentally presenting as another, or nothing entirely during common, long episodes of my mind drawing blanks. i believe this is my form of masking/unmasking, depending on what i am presenting as.

has been sitting in my drafts for almost exactly 24 hours. hell yes i will i <3 ictd. welcome to: random facts and story beats + some characterizations that matter (and an intro to the series since people have never heard of it somehow /lh)

cursory warning for mentions of death, brief mentions of cannibalism and stalking.

ictd starts during the summoning, where things spiral out of control for our main characters.

- ictd is a fic series where the lords in black (and webby) and a greater amount of control over hatchetfield! they're deeply connected to the land as well as any plant or creature born to or on that land. i.e. everybody who was born in hf.

- their grip is stronger and meaner in the witchwood. this is why people like lumberaxe and the metzgers are the way they are.

- they also have "districts", where children born are more likely to fall into a specific connection (like downtown, where pokeys strongest, or the old kids district where nibbly's stronger). i havent exactly worked out the map of the island yet, so this is a work in progess

- connection level ranges from 0 (non native to hf) to 10 (a lord), and power falls along with this. higher number, more power. the current strongest human or human-adjacent character is lumberaxe at a 9. anybody above an 8 is likely to appear slightly off or inhuman. the most common levels are 2-4, the least are 0 and 10, of course

- pete, steph and grace (called 'the three' or 'our three') are all 3-6 when the series starts. they'll wind up being 7s or 8s by the end. we get to see them evolve :]

- all three have physical changes immediately. grace grows eyes in odd places, pete grows horns and excessive hair on his legs thats painful to touch for months, steph grows sharper teeth. i bet you can guess who's connected to which lord

- a lot of people die. your faves might die. my dead list isnt done yet. they all have a role in max, ruth, and richies storyline. i have to start have my ictd posts with "i killed your blorbo, im sorry" (see linda, zoey, the metzgers eventually)

- a fun fact: blinky has the most people so far, webby has the least!

- lots of bad things like cannibalism and stalking happen. often. "its hatchetfield", they say. people go missing constantly, and turn up dead or half dead. eventually.

- the clivesdale rivalry is one-sided, and fueled by the lords. any hatchetfield citizen will deadass kill a chemist. for fun. the lords find this entertaining, including webby.

- any connection (alignment) to any lord causes illness. what type differs between lord, and intensity varies from person to person. miss holloway and sheila young have it the worst.

I don’t really follow a set kind of post. Sometimes I post fanart, sometimes I post memes, sometimes I post theories or headcanons. Sometimes my posts don’t have anything to do with Just Dance. I’m a big yapper, so my posts are pretty long most of the time.

Wow a cut, what ever could be underneath it?! Is probably what you asked yourself. Well, trade secrets of course. That’s a joke. I don’t have any of those. But I decided to add a little list of where the stickers I scattered across my drawing come from as I can imagine you’re extremely curious about things I like besides Just Dance, right? Yeah of course you are. Otherwise you would have clicked off long ago. So we’re just going to go for it!

1. The 20 sided die next to my name stands for my love of Dungeon and Dragons (Forever DM tho) and other table top games.

2. The Spiderman logo stands for my love for Spiderman, although I will admit that I’ve never read the comics. If I had to pick, I’d say that the Spiderverse movies they got going on right now are probably my favourite Spidey related thing atm.

3. The Pokeball stands for my love for Pokemon. I have been playing those games since I was very young and they really helped to shape me as a person.

4. The cat next to my head is Jiji from Kiki’s Delivery Service. Another big thing that shaped me since I was a preteen is Ghibli movies, and Jiji felt ideal to represent this.

5. Is a pictogram from Just Dance. Of course I had to add one if those. It’s one of the pictograms for one of my favourite maps: Treasure

6. The brain with the glasses is one of the Sanders Sides logo’s. Since you find yourself on Tumblr I assume you know what Sanders Sides is. It’s the logo used for Logic (Logan), one of the sides I relate to the most.

7. Is the logo for Sex BobOmb which is the band thats featured in Scott Pilgrim. One of my favourite movies/animated series :)

8. The next sticker is a Plumbob from the Sims 4. If you have a little scroll on my blog you can see that I have a little series where I turn some Just Dance coaches into sims (inspired by others on here). So yeah I play it a little (I have over 900 hours in this game).

9. The red pixilated heart stands for Undertale, it is meant to represent the soul of the character you play as :) Undertale was probably the first fandom space I joined back in the day and it just means a lot to me.

10. The next one is meant to be a fossil from Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Which is one of my favourite games. So I had to add it of course.

11. The next symbol looks like a 4 but I don’t think it’s supposed to be. It’s the logo for a series run by the streamer Ranboo called Generation Loss. Gen Loss is honestly one of my favourite series that has come out in recent times. It kind of resparked my creativity after being in a creative burn out for so long due to mental health issues. It’s really good and you should totally check it out if you can.

12. Is the logo for the Umbrella Academy. It’s honestly my favourite thing Netflix has ever produced and I love the series so much. It’s like right up my alley.

I mean- I call him Dreamer!Sans but I'm not really sure if I'm gonna set with that yet, since I don't actually have a story/plot for him besides his purpose in the multiverse, but I do have some other ideas ;]

Dreamer!Sans is basically a protector of dreams, he protects mostly the realities of dreams (or the Dreamscapes, is what I like to call them) to make sure everyone from his au and multiverse have sweet and safe dreams.

Theres this things called Night Spawns or Nightlings who feeds from peoples nightmares and trauma while they are asleep. They oddly look like spiders... Dreamer is responsible for defeating these pests.

"But why?" you may ask.

Well... the Nightlings "power" to manifest bad dreams in your sleep can cause you depression, anxiety, paranoia, and much more, if they stay too long attached to someone, AND since they are really hungry they are trying to consume the dreamscapes of the person they are attached to. If they succeeds, one may never dream again (or woke up, in other words)

"What are Dreamscapes?"

Every time someone dreams, that person's consciousness is "transported" to this place, and each person has their own dreamscapes!! They are directly connected to people's consciousness and that is why they are so important.

Hes mostly like classic Sans, very lazy, laid back/relaxed, and he enjoys puns a lot

but it's a little more extreme-

• He is always tired and cannot stay awake for more than 20 minutes without falling asleep again

• He aways looks tired/sleepy

• Sometimes he sleepwalks, he can do unbelievable things while he's asleep, from knitting and cooking to physically fighting or writing a quantum science research, all unconscious!

• For some reason sometimes he sleeps in super specific and random places, once he slept for two whole days inside Nightmare!Sans' castle and no one ever noticed... strange right? He wasn't even in a room, he slept in the kitchen storage the entire time lol

• He has been in and out of so many people's dreams that he probably knows EVERYONE, he has an incredible memory too!

• Sometimes he can't tell if he's really awake or if he's still dreaming, so he doesn't usually take things around him seriously. Which can make other people upset or annoyed that they're not being taken seriously.

• He learned to never try to find meanings in dreams that don't make the LEAST sense, and since he cannot distinguish which reality he is in because he is almost always dreaming- he will always accept anything absurd you propose to him.

You wanna make a birthday party for a giant unicorn baby? sure sounds fun.

You think Shrek is upset and needs help? yeah lets cheer him up.

Several alternate versions of him are fighting for some bizarre reason he doesn't understand?? yeah ok he can help, he don't mind.

CHARACTERS

here’s a teeny intro for some of the characters developed so far!!!

CLIFF

The main character!!

Cliff tends to be over critical, and generally pessimistic. Going through the motions, he’s not interested in “making lifelong bonds” or “finding a soulmate”; he’s here to win the big, long game of life. And he’ll do that with as little social interaction as possible, denying his feelings of crippling lonliness, and hoarding all of his favorite treasures and trinkets collected on his adventures.

MUSTARD

The main character number two(???)

Mustard is the cheerful, bubbly sidekick. Much to Cliff’s annoyance, he’s often humming a song, spewing about the beauty of nature, or engaging with any stranger he comes across as he and Cliff go about their quests. With his banjo never far off, he finds great joy in making up tunes. He’s determined to show Cliff the wonderful things he gets to experience in life.

ANDRII

(Guys his design is incomplete bear with me 😭)

Andrii is the irritable deity of rain. Everywhere he roams he’s followed by a massive raincloud; the storm obscures his vision of the sun, leading him to suffering from an extreme lack of vitamin D, and a firm belief that the sun isn’t real. Eventually, Cliff and Mustard help him see the err of his ways, but for now he’s got the personality of a moody teen. Also he’s emo 🖤

ZEFFY

Zeffy is a reclusive nomad with a burning quest. She has a tight friendship with the wind; nobody knows how this friendship came about, but ever since she’s been searching for a way to speak with him. When she meets Cliff and Mustard, and eventually befriends them, she hires them with her secret mission: to find the whispering grove, a hallowed ground where mortals can speak with the forces. When she’s not busy with the mystical mysterious stuff, she’s working on her karate.

EZRAH AND JOEY

Ezrah (red guy with boots) and Joey (bunny folk with ATTITUDE) are experts in beasts. Also they hate each other.

Ezrah specializes in the Aviary Faction, dealing with great and terrible beasts known as birds. Joey is the head of the Feline Faction, taming creatures of cunning and power. So when a hoo-cat, the adorable cross between a cat and an owl, shows up as the next Engine, there’s a dilemma in who gets to take it. When they’re forced to work together to manage the beast, Ezrah and Joey can’t seem to stop fighting over every little thing. (but they fall in love eventually so it’s ok)

OSWALD

The hoo-cat in question. She’s a perfect little beast. Only a little murderous.

And here's to the revival of WCTD and the first ever WCTD monthly post! But first things first, let's get some basics out of the way

↳ WHAT IS WCTD?

FENICE VI AETIER, a portent of ill omens and the estranged daughter of the Vasilier, ignites a dangerous succession game between her and her half-siblings, where losing means death and winning means an empire. But to compete in this game requires the acknowledgement of the Vasilier himself, one that he isn't willing to give Fenice unless she gives him something in return: the head of the deposed king of Hesperia.

When Comes the Dawn is a new adult fantasy court intrigue novel featuring succession battles, an aro/ace lead, shifting alliances, cut-throat relatives, and a family that's torn themselves apart in the name of ambition for eons. ↳ WHAT IS WCTD MONTHLY?

I've had this wip for a long time but have never made much significant progress before shoving it to the side because of work, school, life, or just being burnt out. WCTD Monthly is my way to try and motivate myself by giving myself a space to talk about all of the different work I've done on this wip. (And to pressure me into actually working on it so I have something to talk about.) You can follow along with my updates with the #wctd-monthy tag

↳ NOW, ONTO THE SHOW

outline → the first 9 chapters have been outlined. outline document is currently at 4k+ words. The main plot beats for Act 1 and Act 2 have been outlined

notion → I rebuild and organized my wip notion, as well as all of the character pages

series → because of the different character arcs and plot beats that I wanted to explore, I decided to officially make WCTD a duology as opposed to a standalone like originally planned. No official title for book two as of yet, though Crowning of the Sun is a tentative one.

worldbuiling → realized that the majority of book 1 takes place in the now subjugated kingdom of Hesperia as opposed to Aetier, where I focused the majority of my worldbuilding. This means that I'm starting to worldbuilding from...almost the ground up. It helps that I'm mostly focused on the province of Isidore.

characters → the vi Aetier family has been expanded! Fenice and Charles now have 3 other half-siblings (Euphemia, Konstantine, and Basil) as well as their siblings' respective mothers. I've added 9 noble houses to form the unofficial oligarchy of influence in Isidore, and I've given Leda a rival-turned-girlfriend-turned-ex to help flesh out her character.

extraneous content → attempted to make the vi Aetier family tree starting from the beginning of the vi Drochona dynasty (I'll probably clean it up and post it separately at a later date). I also added another god to the pantheon (Heleia, goddess of the wild nature, the hunt, liberation, and childhood), and finally re-introduced wctd (linked above)

🍓Hello! I decided to just bite the bullet and post my beloved OC as well as some info on her. Hope you all can enjoy it! I’m putting it under the cut because it’s LONG, and I don’t want anyone who doesn’t want to see it to have to see it. @acornwinter @the-nightingales-song

TW: Mentions of abuse and past trauma (I am so cruel to my OCs)

Intro: Her name is Mitsumi Kozima, she’s from Kyoto, Japan (you know, like on our planet from our world). She’s lived alone since being separated from her aunt at sixteen. She attends a prestigious art academy on a full ride music scholarship, and made a pretty decent but boring life for herself. Thats how she wanted everything to be, at least. When she suddenly gets run over by a horse drawn carriage (IN THE MIDDLE OF KYOTO???) while saving a helpless little kitten, her life gets way more interesting!

Background: She has no memories before showing up at her “aunts” doorstep at the age of eight. She had nothing but the clothes on her back and the heart-shaped locket with a picture of her father in it, and a little note for the woman who would take her in. It’s like she popped into existence all at once. Her “aunt” initially took her in out of the “goodness of her heart”, but Mitsumi quickly learned it was for appearances. Her “cousin” Hirohito had been suffering multiple types of abuse at his aunts hands for years, and did his best to shield her from his mothers wrath, but could only do so much. Mitsumi learned to blend in, not rock the boat, and most importantly do as she was told. She didn’t have many friends, as she had “imaginary friends” at an age where that thing was unacceptable. Despite all this, she remained as cheery as she could be, holding out hope that her real parents were out there somewhere. Hope that they would find her one day. She did not find real freedom until the day her aunt died during a “horrific break in.”

She separated from her cousin shortly after, using the money she was given after her aunt died to move to Kyoto and make a life for herself there. She found freedom in music, and thus dedicated all her time to learning music. She proceeded to learn six other languages, and knows how to play numerous amounts of instruments. Her school calls her a prodigy, she simply believes she’s hard working.

Personality: She’s a bright, quick witted young woman. She’s academically average, except for the subjects she is particularly interested in — such as history and music. Her professors describe her as hungry for knowledge in most cases. Always doing her best to see the best in others, she is easily taken advantage of, but there’s not a single person she doesn’t believe she could befriend. Still, she has a deep sadness in her that she rarely lets show. She craves adventure and adrenaline, but would rather keep to herself if it means she doesn’t have to be hurt by others. She can adjust her outgoingness to whoever she is around, making her easy to get along with — if not a little difficult to wrap your head around. She’s a friend of extroverts and a lover of introverts.

How she is at NRC: Being thrown into a magical world as a magic less human isn’t all that exciting for normal people. However, for Mitsumi who is quite the opportunist, she is thrilled to be here. Magic is something that only exists in fantasy anime where she’s from, but she just saw a fire breathing cat nearly set a magical talking mirror on fire! If that isn’t cool, she doesn’t know what is. Though, she isn’t used to not excelling in her classes, she’s more forgiving since she missed out on more than just a few years of education here. Being transported here woke her inner sense of adventure, and she can’t help but get herself involved in trouble. Can you blame her, everything here is just so darn exciting! She could even see if there’s a way magic can help her find her parents. The heart locket seems to have a reaction to nearby magic use, nearly burning her skin during overblots, so it seems like she has a lead!

Her most important relationships:

-Ace, Deuce, and Grim are her absolute best friends here! They’re like real siblings that she never got to have, and they take care of her better than her aunt ever did. She really would trust these three (tentatively) with her life. (This applies to all the first years, these three are just the most important by name)

-Vil is the closest thing to a positive motherly figure she’s ever had. While he was scary and mean at first, after he warmed up to her, he’s rather caring and sweet. She particularly likes when he invites her over for “tea” (aka. Sleepovers) with him and rook. He does her hair for her, and sometimes will even take her shopping for new clothes. He is the first person she would go to if anyone upset her, honestly.

-If Vil is her mother, Rook is her quirky step-father. Despite the scars she has (from her aunt and the overblots), he constantly reminds her that she is a beauty and should feel as such. He enjoys her time likely more than Vil does, and is a constant positive person in her life.

-Azul is her dearly beloved, deep rooted crush (that no one in her life sees the appeal of). She always found him quite pretty, but seeing his more vulnerable sides made her heart ache for him. She works in the lounge, which means she gets to see him rather frequently. She’s spent many closing shifts chatting with him for hours on end until Jade or Floyd reminds the two of them that it’s getting rather late, and they both have classes early in the morning. He’d never reciprocate her feelings though (so she thinks), so she’s happy keeping things like this. She has no idea how much she drives him crazy.

Mitsumi twst Lore: This shit is nuts and it’s probably not gonna make sense, but I don’t care. I am cringe but I am FREE!!

Okay so, I alluded to the fact that she belongs in twisted wonderland no so subtly more than once, so let’s get into that.

Mitsumi’s father was a human mage named Wen. He was an extremely talented magician who was capable of mastering some of the most difficult spells known to human and fae alike, but preferred to spend his time studying and writing. He was appointed as the queen’s own scholar, and had a board of men and women who worked beneath him to study whatever he liked. He was born during the era of the great war, but unlike his fellow scholars and royals of the castle, he was not afraid of them. No, Wen was fascinated by them. Their culture, biology, magical systems, and anything he could get his hands on. Frequently he ventured outside of his territories bounds to try and find traces of them, but was rarely successful. That was until the fateful day he met his future wife, Hikari.

Hikari — better known as Princess Hikari Draconia of the Valley of Thorns. Much like Wen, she was particularly curious about humans, and would rather study them than practice and master such simple and easy magic (for her). She had a rocky relationship with her mother and sister, and therefore she has a rocky relationship with the court — aside from her lady in waiting, Jingyi Cheng. She had wanted some space from her mothers oppressive eye, when she ran into this young human in the very woods she sought solace in.

The two spoke, and found their similarities to be evidence that human and Fae can live in harmony. That this war was selfish and senseless. So, they met nearly every week since that day. A week turned into a few days, and a few days turned into every day. The two, unwittingly, had fallen in love with each other. However, the war had begun to escalate, casualties rising on both sides and neither ruler seemed to want to listen to reason. Despite this, their love flourished, and they made the decision to have a child. Maybe that would bring the two sides together. It would give the young prince a companion, after all.

This only seemed to make things worse, however, and both sides saw their baby as a monstrosity. There was a price on the young child’s head in both kingdoms. For a number of years then lived in hiding, far away from any people that could possibly hurt them or their child, however their luck would run out. They would be found by Fae soldiers, and to save their child’s life they gave a grave sacrifice.

Hikari — whose own unique magic she was forbidden from using due to its unstable nature — put her child into a deep sleep, only to be woken in a few thousand years, when things had settled. Wen gave the child an enchanted locket to help guide her back to them when she found her way back into their world. Finally, the child’s magic was sealed away within the same locket. Only small bursts of magic would happen when encountering other magic or magical beings in the world. Their child was safe, for now, but the two were captured and cursed. Hikari was locked away in a mirror, memories wiped. Only a draconian could free her from her eternal prison. Wen was cursed with immortality, forced to wonder the world in an aimless search for his lost family — memories of them haunting him for as long as he lived.

Their child was no better, as her luck seemed to be awful… that was, until she arrived back to twisted wonderland.

How I found my favourite anime. (Servamp)

No I do not watch every anime under the sun, I've only watched about 4-6.

Now that's out of the way. Servamp, how did I find out abt it? Youtube, I found a clip of Servamp of a Youtube short. WAIT, No i do not find anime by shorts, okay? It was a very special clip. Not a fight or funny line or anything. It was, a guy in a blue cat hoodie turning into a black cat.

And you see, i like cats. Also i liked things where something is meant to be scary but have that scary factor ruined for them within a quick second. (Thats why I like the Arcane Order from Trollhunters)

AHEM, now how i found it is outta the way, lemme talk a lil abt the show (No spoilers if you wanna watch the show after reading this.)

Aight, so putting it simply, a school boy find a stray black cat and takes it home, putting a bell onto the cat. Surprise the cat is a vampire but is lazy as hell, so the boy doesn't die. Later the villian shows up outta no where are is the cat's younger/youngest brother. And what made me really like this villian character is well, you remember how i said that i like when someone who is meant to scary has that ruined for them?

WELL, the villian is a fox. A FOX, you know, the little thing with the fluffy tail and ears and lil paws and laughs in a "hehehehehe" way. THATS THE FREAKING VILLIAN OF THE WHOLE SERIES. Ahem, so as you can imagine the villian lost all abilitly of being scary in my eyes.

So that's Servamp, theres only 12 episodes, but there is 20 books and a lot of CDs including storys and songs. Which again ruin all fear the villian ever had.

If you wanna watch it i do highly reccomend it, if you are into comedy animes or just good story line. Warning the intro isn't the best in the world and i do suggest you turn down your volume a bit.

Annnd thats how I found my Favourite anime and watched my first anime series. I guess i forgot to mention that part. Oh well. Also i may talk about Servamp more in the future if this post is liked by you guys.

I've been seeing lots of debate regarding the Tekken 8 character endings, especially compared to MK 1, and since I'm not that big on the lore, I wanted to ask how you feel about the different approaches these games went for those endings?

Honestly its a matter of personal preferences I would say!

MK12 decided to make every character ending canon, thru them you get to learn what the characters have been up to post-story mode, and if you have additional questions, you may find an answer in the dialogue intros. It's pretty straighforward even if you do have to do a bit of research to get the full picture. Mortal Kombat also doesnt have a clear-cut protagonist (even if fire god Liu Kang is the closest we get to that role) so it's easier for it to divide the focus on it's multiple characters, and the fact that it's very much a fantasy setting means that you have an infinite amount of lore to establish, so you never run out of things to say and do with characters.

Mortal Kombat is trying to build a world, but that means that everything the characters do are meant to move this worldbuilding forward, and the future story, along, you dont really get "fluff" out of MK12's endings. And also, MK12 doesnt exist in a vaccum, it's a new timeline so it's obviously going to be compared with its predecessors, and sometimes it's like "look we're making a callback to a previous thing!" or "look we're doing this thing completely different!", and let's just say that if you DONT like those choices and changes, well you're fucked. Because it's here to stay. And sadly Im in that category.

As for T8, the story mode and the characters endings are NOT related, every single T8 character ending is non-canon, BUT. the characterization is. It's all "fluff". And it's honestly not a problem bc it makes things more focused: the characters episodes have a clear beginning meant to establish the character's motivation, a few dialogues between the different fights, and an ending, and out of all of that you get a clearer picture on who the character is, on their relationships with other characters... the endings dont NEED to advance the story forward bc that's what the story mode is for, the endings are here for presentation, for spectacle, for fun. And they're MAD fun.

As opposed to MK, Tekken has a clear set of protagonists: the titular tournament hosts, the Mishimas, and I'm lucky enough to find their story really interesting and to have them as my favorite characters. Some other people don't, however, and that's where you usually get the "oh [...] didnt do anything in the story!"

In MK12, that can be a problem, bc the story is ALL you're gonna get about your fav, but in T8, it's like... yeah? This is Jin's story, why the fuck would Feng (chinese kenpo master wanting to be the strongest) be relevant. And imo, his inclusion in the actual story was the best it couldve been (he lost to a wing chun master who chose to support Jin so he joined the bad guys team to get revenge, we see him for one fight and thats it). Not ALL characters have to be relevant, and if you want to see more of your fav: well they have an entire episode dedicated to them, with a fun little cgi cutscene at the end!

Tekken is like a movie: you dont need every character to be fully developped to drive the message of the story across, Mortal Kombat is like a franchise: every character has something to contribuate to build the world and move the story forward. Tekken wants to be Fast And Furious and Mortal Kombat wants to be Star Wars. They're different with both positives and negatives.
