The Adventures of Lee and Gracie - BONES AND ALL : part 1
Warnings and such: mentions of bl00d, !death, death of family member, alcohol/drunkenness ,illusions to caññabilism...i think that's it for this part?
A/N: you can't tell me Timothée doesn't radiate this kind of chaotic energy 24/7! He was absolutely perfect for this movie! Thank you for coming to my TedTalk!
---------------------------------------------------------------------
My mother was what she called an “eater,” because I guess calling her a cannibal was wrong. There was a difference, apparently, of which the latter she was not. You could have fooled me. I’ve known for a while, probably my whole life, but to me, that was normal. Normal for her anyway. I had never met another “eater,” at least not that I knew of, but would I know if I had anyway?
She never partook in the activity in the house, but more often than not she came home before she was ready to, covered in blood. Admittedly, it freaked me out to realize how quickly that stopped bothering me…but of course, not as much as discovering what she was doing a few times a month. What bothered me the most is that she came home, cleaned herself up, and carried on with life as if nothing happened. As I got older, I became more wary of her, something that I think she picked up on all too quickly. It drove a wedge in our once perfect relationship, but I wouldn’t consider it a loss.
The idea toyed in her head, for a while- she thought I was a “late bloomer” or that I just needed to “find the feeling,” but whatever it was that caused her to be this way, it must not have been passed along to me. If that’s how someone became an “eater.” It made me wonder where it all started, but then again, maybe I don’t want to know. All I do know is that she left when I was 18, and I hadn’t seen or heard from her since. My dad was long gone and I had no siblings. Maybe my dad knew, and maybe I wasn’t even supposed to happen…oh well, no sense in dreading about it now. I had no complaints. No regrets.
I knew the signs of an eater, or at least the ones that made my mother stand out in a crowd, but I still wasn’t sure if I would be able to pick one out of a line up unless they had blood all over their face. I resolved to just be by myself, to always watch my back and never put a lot of trust in anyone. It was all easy, really. I wasn’t allowed to have friends as a child, understandably so, and because of that I was fine to be by myself. I didn’t know any different.
As my 20th birthday approached, the body of a woman surfaced near the lake. It was a lot to take in, in a small town, but I knew. I knew that it was my mother, and I knew that it wasn’t an animal who had found her body before some local fishermen. There was another eater, somewhere, and suddenly I didn’t feel safe. What if they came after me? I am half my mother, eater or not. I packed a bag and left with a full tank of gas and all the money I had been saving for almost 6 years. I didn’t dare look back.
That was almost a year ago now. My 21st birthday was at the end of the summer and I had already driven across the country and back once. I was stuck somewhere between not wanting to settle down somewhere, and being too afraid to. I had no family elsewhere, at least not that I knew of, so there wasn’t anything grounding me to one specific spot. The life of a nomad was starting to grow on me! I found myself in Indiana, at the dumpiest ‘grocery store’ I had ever been in, which was saying a lot because I’ve seen some pretty deplorable places on my travels.
“What kind of store runs out of lunchables?!”
There was a very intoxicated man wandering the store, drinking a 6 pack of cheap beer that I can only assume he hadn’t paid for. The store attendants didn’t even bat an eyelash at him, apparently this was a regular thing. I was at the end of the aisle he had just strolled down, looking at the bare bone essentials that were strewed about the shelves.
“Hey, I’m talking to you, you dumb bitch-”
A woman with a small child had asked to get by him on her way to the checkout lines. I wasn’t the only one watching him- a boy, about my age, had been following him around the store for a while now. I couldn’t tell if they were together or not, but the younger one seemed highly irritated with the antics.
“Hey!” He called, standing behind me. “You’re out of control, buddy.” Okay, so maybe they aren’t together.
“You with the store or something?”
“No, I’m not with the store. But I’m going to escort you out of it.”
“Oh you are?”
“Watch this,” the younger boy whispered as he stepped around me.
He had a shit eating grin plastered to his face, as if he was waiting for this moment. He turned to the drunk man, smiled at him and without an ounce of hesitation, headbutted him. Hard. I could hear it break his nose. Blood began to seep down his face before he realized what had happened. The drunk threw an otherwise poorly calculated swing, but missed by a mile or more.
“Outside, you fucker!”
“You want to go outside? We can go outside! Let’s go outside!”
“Who the fuck do you think you are, you little asshole!”
“Is this how you spend your Saturdays? Harassing innocent people after you spend the morning jerking off…”
Their voices trailed off as the door closed behind them. I watched them chase each other around the parking lot for a moment before stepping out of view and behind the store. That was the most excitement I had seen in a long time!
I made my purchases and used the microwave behind the counter to makeshift something for dinner. What I wouldn’t give for a real kitchen! It was nearly dark when I finally left, and there was no sign of the two men from earlier. I could only hope they sorted out their differences and everyone left without incident.
I was crossing the parking lot to my truck when I noticed something someone, crawling out the window frame of an abandoned building a few yards away. It was the younger guy from earlier. His shirt was torn and he looked at me before doubling over. I couldn’t tell what he was doing, but could hear the distinct crinkle of a plastic water bottle and as he approached, I could see it- blood! A lot of fucking blood. I knew instantly what he was; his face and chest was smeared the same way I had seen my mother’s many times before. Despite his best efforts to apparently clean himself, the evidence was everywhere. I didn’t know rather to run or scream or-
“He’s back there, if you want to..” He nodded back towards the building, walking past me without batting an eyelash in my direction. Maybe they only “ate” once? Do they get full? They have to, right?
“No! No I don’t- I’m not a…No!” He stopped and looked me up and down.
“Could have fooled me. You smell like one.”
“One what?” I hesitated, trying to keep the distance between us.
“You tell me. You seem to know.”
“I’m not.”
“So you’ve said.”
“What do you mean ‘I smell like one?’”
“An eater. Eaters can smell other eaters. Usually.”
“Well, you’re wrong. I’m not a…a eater.”
“Okay. Well, sorry.” He smiled, and I could see his blood stained teeth. Somehow, even in this moment, I wasn’t phased. “I’m gonna just…I’m gonna go now.”
There was something about him…something that I couldn’t put a finger on, or take my eyes off of. He seemed…different? I only had my mother to compare him to, but there was still something. I watched him circle the parking lot, staring at the keys in his hand. Whatever he was trying to find must not have belonged to him. Wait was he-
“You can’t just steal his truck!” I laughed nervously, watching him climb in and start digging around.
“What good is it to him now?” He turned the key over and tried to start it, groaning. “There’s no gas in it anyway.”
“I’m sorry I don’t-”
“Will you drive me somewhere?”
“No! I don’t even know you!”
He jumped out of the truck, a piece of paper and a few dollars in his hand. He smiled, wiping his spare hand on his pant leg before extending it to me.
“Sorry, I’m Lee.”
“Lee?”
“Lee. No last name.” I looked at him for a minute, his smile never fading.
“Grace. Or Gracie.”
“First and last?” He chuckled and whatever it was about him made me smile, even if I didn’t want to. ‘Don’t trust people’ I reminded myself.
“Look,” he continued. “You could have convinced me you were an eater, like I said, you smell like one. And if you’re really not, hey that's cool too! But eaters don’t eat eaters, so I’ll treat you like one if you’ll just drive me…” he looked at the paper and spun around in a small circle before pointing in some opposite direction. “If you’ll drive me like 15 minutes that way? Please?”
I tried to weigh my options, the risks I was taking by giving in, but there it was again, that thing that was different about him. Whatever it is, it was telling me to just give him the ride. I could leave him there and never have to see him again if the next 15 minutes gave me any inclination that Lee couldn’t be trusted.
“Okay,” I sighed, pointing him towards my own truck a few spots over. “But if you try to-”
“Cross my heart I won't!”
We hopped in and he gave me directions. He was quiet, domestic really…not something I would have expected from one of them. He just sat there, like nothing had happened. I couldn’t help but eye him the whole way, and he definitely knew, but didn’t say anything. It was almost a comforting silence, something I don’t recall ever experiencing in my life before now.
Eventually, we made it. The house was dilapidated, not cared for in the slightest- it smelled of weed and alcohol from the driveway. A bachelor pad if I had ever seen one before. The lights were off, though I may have died of shock if anyone else was living there.
“Thank you,” Lee smiled, hopping out of the car and coming over to my side. “Unless, I mean, do you want to come in?” He said it so calmly, like it was his own house!
“I umm…”
“I promised I wouldn’t bite, remember!”
That feeling returned, consuming my body. It’s fine, just go with him. Something inside me was screaming, I didn’t know if it was my brain, my heart, or my stomach, but none of them were arguing with whichever one was screaming. Maybe this is how I die! Only one way to find out…
I sighed, hopping out of the truck and following him into the house. The inside was somehow worse than the outside- I didn’t even think that was possible. Lee, however, seemed to be in love! He instantly started digging though the man’s collection of music, staring wildly at the raunchy posters on the wall.
Lee let out an excited noise when he pulled a record from the crate, throwing it on the player. The music blared horribly loud, causing both of us to jump out of our skins.
“Fuck!” He yelled, turning it down quickly. The smile soon returned to his face and he began jumping around the room, singing and dancing erratically.
It was almost euphoric to watch. So I did- I just watched him. I watched him for a few minutes, my eyes following him as he jumped off the couch, landing in front of a very dirty mirror. He leaned in close, singing to his reflection until he caught sight of the state he was in. There was still blood smeared down his chin and throat, the rest was hidden behind his t-shirt. The smile dropped from his face and in its place…embarrassment?
“I’m gonna go take a shower.” I nodded and watched as he disappeared down the hallway.
Last chance to leave.
No, I think I’m going to stay.
Lee emerged a while later and asked if I wanted a turn in the bathroom. Again, this seemed so normal to him- he acted like this was his house. He must do this every time he…eats. A real shower sounded too inviting, no matter how gross the bathroom may be.
With the endless supply of hot water, I’m not sure how long I was in there. A small part of me almost expected the boy to be gone when I was finished, but he wasn’t. I followed the sound of the television and found him sitting in front of it, laughing along to whatever way playing, a cigarette in hand. Domestic.
I cleared my throat, not knowing what else to do.
“Oh, hey!” He jumped up. “Do you want to watch something? I think there’s a few more channels on here…”
“No, that's okay. I might actually go to bed…if you don’t mind?”
“Not at all! Take the bed, I’ll sleep out here.” He pointed towards the back of the house. “It's just back there…on the left.”
I felt like I was supposed to say something, to thank him, maybe? But whatever it was, I couldn’t find it. I just looked at him, probably for too long. He began to rock back and forth on the balls of his heels, looking around the room and smiling awkwardly everytime his eyes met mine.
“Goodnight, Lee.” I finally mumbled, stifling a yawn.
“Night, Gracie!” I heard him plop back down on the floor as I headed towards the bedroom.
Weirdest. Day. Ever.
******
I hardly slept last night. Part of me was scared I’d wake up to Lee standing over me, or that the guy whose house we were in was going to come back, or that a neighbor called the cops after seeing us come in or-
*knock* *knock*
“Gracie, you awake?”
I sat up boltright. “Yeah, it’s open.”
No, you idiot! That’s not what he asked!
Lee opened the door awkwardly and stuck an arm through the crack, offering me a cup of coffee. Domestic!
“I’m not sure how you take it, but your only option is black or Irish, but you know, that’s still black.” I chuckled, opening the door further and taking the cup from him. His head was turned, not daring to look in the room.
“Thank you.”
“Mhmm.”
There was an awkward silence. Lee still hadn't turned around.
“Can I ask you something?” I finally found the courage to speak.
“Shoot.”
“This is normal for you, isn’t it?”
“Was that the question, or a statement?”
I groaned, walking back over to the bed. Lee hesitantly peered around the corner, not daring to enter the room any further.
“Sorry,” He chuckled nervously, taking a sip of coffee. “But yeah, I guess this is normal? Are you referring to the whole,” He made an exaggerated chewing motion, teeth clicking together audibly. “Thing or?”
“That. Yes. But I assumed that was normal for you. It was normal for my mother, anyway. But I was referring to the whole ‘making yourself at home’ type of thing.”
“Your mother?!” I just looked at him, waiting for an answer to the second part of the question- the actual question. “Umm. I mean, everyone’s got their own rules, I guess. I don’t see any harm in staying a night or two. It’s not like he’s going to need it.”
We sat silently, sipping shitty coffee and stealing glances at each other. The comfortable silence settling over us once again.
“If you’re not from around here, where are you from? And where are you going?”
“Kentucky,” he smiled, looking like he was reminiscing. “Got family there, sort of...but I’m not sure where I’m going…I don’t ever really know. I just…go. What about you?”
“I’m from New York-”
“Holy shit!”
“Yeah. But there’s nothing left there for me so I’m making my way back across the country.” I shrugged, the idea didn’t seem so crazy to me as it once did.
“I’m sorry, back?!”
“I’ve been on the road for almost a year.”
“That sounds awesome! You’ll have to tell me about it…sometime.” The smile on his face faded slightly as he stared at the contents of the mug in his hand.
Is this where we were supposed to part ways? It didn’t feel right to get back in the truck and leave him, but taking him with me? That sounded just as weird. I’ve never been conflicted over the…wellbeing? Of another person? Is that what this was called?
Hypothetically, I thought to myself. What would be the harm in asking him to come along? What was stopping me from dumping him on the side of the road somewhere if he pissed me off or tried to bite or whatever else could possibly happen. He wasn’t tied to anywhere either, not really anyway. He had been doing things his way for who knows how long, clearly he could take care of himself. He seemed to be doing a better job at it than me, actually. And the odds of ever running into him again? There was something about him that wasn’t…scary. Maybe it was the pink hair!
“I’ll tell you.” I smiled, finishing the coffee. “You drive. I’ll talk.”
“What?”
“Unless you have other plans-”
“No!” Lee said, rather quickly. “Are, are you offering to take me with you?” He sounded less sure of himself as the sentence dragged on.
“IF,” I barked, standing up and sticking a pinky in his face. “You keep your promise!”
“Cross my heart.” He smiled, drawing an ‘X’ over his chest before hooking his pinky with mine.

Disney Channel Greenlights: Hailey’s On It, Disney TVA 97th Animated Series By Phineas And Ferb Alumnis Devin Bunje and Nick Stanton
Disney Channel has given a series green light to Hailey’s On It!, an original animated comedy-adventure, from longtime writing and producing partners Devin Bunje and Nick Stanton (Phineas And Ferb) and Disney Television Animation.
Hailey’s On It follows Hailey Banks, a risk-averse but resourceful teenager on a mission to complete every item on her long list of challenging (and sometimes impractical) tasks in order to save the world. Hailey will be pushed outside her comfort zone to discover the greatness within as she systematically conquers her fears, whether she is winning a sand-building competition, wrestling a honey badger, eating a raw onion, or facing her ever-growing and complicated feelings toward her best friend, Scott.
Auli’i Cravalho (Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Moana) voices the title character, Hailey; along with Manny Jacinto (Hulu’s Nine Perfect Strangers, The Good Place) as Scott, Hailey’s best friend; and Gary Anthony Williams (The Boondocks) as Beta, an artificially intelligent operating system from the future. The series is slated to debut in 2023 on Disney Channel and Disney+
Created and Executive produced by Bunje and Stanton and  Howy Parkins (Disney Junior’s The Lion Guard) is co-executive producer and supervising director, Wade Wisinski (The Owl House) is producer, Karen Graci (Tuca & Bertie) is story editor and Lee Ann Dufour (The Breadwinner) is art director.
Hailey joins Cricket Green, Anne Boonchuy, Luz Noceda, Molly McGee, Lunella Lafayatte, Gretel, Kiff & Tater in being the new members of the modern Disney Afternoon that kicked off on 2018.
“Nick and Devin began their writing careers at TVA nearly 15 years ago and have now come full circle returning to their TVA roots to launch their first animated series,” said Meredith Roberts, SVP and general manager, Television Animation, Disney Branded Television. “The series’ fast-paced comedy, heart and grounded stories about two best friends, who happen to get caught up in extraordinary circumstances, made it a perfect fit for Disney.”

@gcldensnitch tagged me in this challenge, thank you! I'll respond about Tessa, a. because I know she's your favorite and b. because no one else's ship ever really changed that much
What HPHM characters (or MCs) could you see your MC dating, in an AU? What would their relationship be like? Why did you ultimately decide not to go with that ship, or do you still hold a torch for it?
1st Option: Barnaby Lee
Originally Tessa was going to marry Barnaby and they were going to be cute and wholesome together. Tessa is a character that I used to use to explore dynamics with characters that I don't really like that much, and (sorry) Barnaby is one of them. Even if I was to take some creative liberties when writing him, he's still just so stupid, and eventually I couldn't take it anymore. Tessa is a smart girl, and she deserves someone who can keep up with her. She and Barnaby date for a little while in years 3 and 4, and then decide to just be friends
2nd Option: Charlie Weasley
Listen. I adore Charlie. At one point I was tying him out with every mc I have just because I think he deserves someone to adventure with, and the best two options were Gracie and Tessa. Gracie, however, had been paired with Merula right from her first introduction in the game, and I didn't have anyone else who could fit her, so I tried with Tessa. It would have been cute. I still like the idea of them two together, but it could never have worked in the long run. Tessa is far too family oriented, so moving to Romania with Charlie would have been too much of a struggle, and having children when her husband works such a dangerous job would have given her a heart attack. I'm toying with the idea of creating yet another mc because I love Charlie so much. In canon, he and Tessa never get together at all, because I can't break their hearts like that, but in an au I think they could work well
3rd Option: Chiara Lobosca
Tessa is straight. She's always been straight. But... she and Chiara could have been incredible, had Tessa not been straight. Since Tessa gave up hunting Vaults, she's had a lot more time and room to grow as a person, and I think being with Chiara and the inherent danger of just who the girl is would have been good for her, especially with how insecure Tessa is and how incredibly kind Chiara is. Their relationship would have been beautiful, and I was almost willing to have Tessa go through a sexuality crisis for it, when I finally came up with the current plan. However, there is definitely a universe where Tessa isn't straight, because they just would be too good together
Current Option: River Mund (oc)
River is a transfer student from Ilvermorny who arrives at the same time as Alanza (and you can tell I've given up trying to have Tessa interact with characters I don't like, since Alanza is pretty much nonexistent in her story) and Tessa was made to be their tour guide. River is quiet and isolates himself. He ends up staying in the Slytherin dorms, so Tessa is able to observe the way he acts, and she figures out that he's really stressed about something. And here's where Chiara inspired this - Tessa discovers that River isn't human, but a vampire. He's been stressed because he has no good source of blood. Tessa and River are so good to me because they work through the slight over dependency (River drinking from her, Tessa being addicted to the high of it) as they get closer, and they don't start dating until after River gets a more steady source and Tessa can be around him without unconsciously bearing her neck. Tessa gets some dangerous excitement in her life, because who doesn't want that, but she also gets a kind and thoughtful boyfriend who pays attention to her when she's down. Initially I was a little hesitant because he's from America and how the two of them would split time between their families, but then I worked on his backstory to make that not an issue. River came to Hogwarts to get away from his family. He would rarely want to visit them, and Tessa would be able to understand. Hopefully I won't keep changing Tessa's ship anymore, because I think she and River are perfect
I feel like everybody has already been tagged, but if you haven't and you see this, go for it!

meet luna’s crescent bay residents --
Tumblr media
♡ archie fairchild (21) - yes, his parents named him based on their love for archie comics. no, he does not watch riverdale. archie’s parents own the pet store in town and he helps out there on days he isn’t working as a barista at the local coffee shop. an absolute sweetheart, very friendly and an incrediblly hard worker, you can always find archie around town. whether he’s volunteering at a town event, stopping to catch up with whoever is walking by or just walking the dogs, archie is a familiar face and knows everyone well. come by the coffee shop and he will draw cute personalised doodles on your takeaway cup, or demonstrate his impressive latte art skills. this boy is a dumbass, in that dopey, sweet sort of way. he’s social and charismatic, and honestly don’t very good in love. perhaps because he’s been trying to fight a crush on his best friend rosa for years. needs literally all of the friends!! co-workers at both the pet store and coffee shop. a third sibling perhaps. girls for him to have crushes on while pretending to himself that he doesn’t have feelings for rosa.
Tumblr media
♡ ash kang (23) - tall, dark and handsome. ash left town when he was sixteen and never looked back. he craved adventure and life experience that the small town of crescent bay couldn’t provide. seven years later, he’s back and nobody knows why. he parks his motorcyle in his parents driveway and strides up to the door as if nothing has happened. whenever he is questioned as to what brought him back to town, he just shrugs and drawls something vague. now he is working as a busboy and probably flirting with every girl in town. this boy will flirt with your girl right in front of you, and shrug when you call him out on it. ash is a closed off person and there is a lot to discover underneath the surface if he ever lets anybody close enough to find out. needs all of the girls!! or guys!! give me that sweet john tucker must die plot, i dare you! some casual friends perhaps. he’s hot, do with that what you will.
Tumblr media
♡ beatrice ‘bee’ hwang (18) - your local cringeworthy weeb. beatrice’s father left when she was seven and her mother moved them to crescent bay for a fresh start. she wound up falling in love with the woman who owned the local antique store and the rest is history. this new family also came with a step brother the same age as bee. let’s just say the two have never gotten along too well. obnoxious weeb is the only way to truly describe bee. she’s the type of girl to have an ‘i heart anime boys’ pin on her bag. the girl who owns a body pillow and compares everything to whatever manga she’s reading that week. she speaks a little japanese and inserts it into everyday conversations. definitely dresses like an anime girl most of the time. when she was in her second year of high school she founded the towns anime club. they meet once to twice a week and play games, watch anime together and just vibe. they have also hosted cosplay contests in town. bee currently works at the local arcade and is probably daydreaming about finding a boy she likes as much as the anime boys she cries over. needs fellow anime club members. her step brother. a cute boy/girl to fall for!! people who think she’s fucking weird lol.
Tumblr media
♡ gracie lee (21) - the preacher’s daughter is always subject to scrutiny. the entire family is. gracie and her older brother have always had expectations as to how they should behave and present themselves to the rest of the town. as a child, gracie was happy to follow trevor’s example and play the perfect daughter, never setting a toe out of line. when she was ten, gracie began singing in the church choir and she absolutely loved it. singing made her feel free, as if anything was possible. as she got older, gracie started to notice how miserable trying to fit himself into their parents mould was making her brother, and she began realising that she didn’t want that for herself. soon she started craving rebellion. it started with small things like consuming media her parents had warned their children away from or talking back to her father. later becoming a bit more intense when she began sneaking into bars with her friend sam while underage and got a tattoo without her parents knowledge or permission. her parents constantly do their best to keep her rebellions under wraps, but there are definitely rumours. gracie is currently dating one of the mayor’s sons, daniel. while they seem sugary sweet on the surface (and i mean, they still are) and the town absolutely loves them together, gracie is most definitely leading the boy astray behind the scenes. needs all sorts of friends. ones to encourage her chaos and ones who she grew up going to church with and don’t understand her at all. literally anything else you can think of. maybe an ex-boyfriend that her parents didn’t know about!
Tumblr media
♡ isla cheong (19) - born in new york city and dragged out into the middle of nowhere following her mothers death when she was fourteen, isla has grown to be rather fond of crescent bay. the only daughter of a doting father who can never say no to her, she is definitely a little spoilt. isla joined the dance team almost as soon as she arrived in town and her fellow dancers became her family she is undeniably a bit of a brat who can be carelessly mean at times and has yet to understand that the world doesn’t revolve around her. however, she has a major soft side once you crack the surface. she’s a bit of a serial dater and hasn’t had a relationship that lasted more than a few months as she gets bored quickly. no guy she has dated has truly challenged her yet, and isla needs a boy to knock ger down a peg. seriously, this girl knows she can get away with a lot just because she’s pretty. needs dance team friends and any friends really. she is a fiercely loyal friend. a snarky boy to steal her heart and call her on her bullshit. some enemies mb!!

— lola park✎
lola is a hopeless romantic, always chasing the next person that could be her significant other. she has the tendency of shaping her personality to fit whomever she’s after, often setting herself up for disaster and heartache. most of her relationships/crushes have ended in a short amount of time, always leaving her completely heartbroken and with a diminished sense of self.
she’s an academic with a passion for mathematics and biology. due to her intelligence and high grades, lola was able to gain a scholarship to a private highschool (cough chilton cough) and she took it after her fall out with grayson.
lola is bubbly, incredibly friendly and a bit oblivious, especially when it comes to love. she craves romance so much but cannot see what’s right in front of her (with grayson and later with andrew). her parent’s owns the local diner where she sometimes work part-time, and later full-time in between high school and university. she can be a bit self-centered, often relying on grayson for selfish reasons and a crybaby.
avid reader, chess player, scrapbooker, eats at least 2 pastries a day, will smile at you if you lock eyes with her at the grocery store. she has an older sister that is still tbd ♡
— grayson lee✎
despite being somewhat shy, the town all know grayson to be adventurous, playful and easygoing. it’s not often you’d see him wearing a frown or looking upset. his smarts and looks made him really popular in highschool but he was always beside lola, no one ever saw another girl get closer to him than her. where she was, grayson was there too, and vice-versa. it had been that way for over 16 years. at some point, everyone was hoping they’d finally make things official and start dating, grayson included. but it never happened.
so grayson got himself a girlfriend, someone to make lola jealous. it backfired big time. the two had the worst fight of their lives, screaming at each other, always dancing around words neither could dare say. and they didn’t, which made everything worse. at that time, lola had gotten a scholarship from another highschool, so she decided to distance herself from grayson.
grayson feels like he was screaming his feelings for her loud but lola never really noticed him that way. when andrew comes into town, he becomes bitter and a bit of an asshole.
he’s smart and very good academically (almost with no effort). the middle child of 3. close to his siblings but with billie especially! the swim team’s star. later goes to med school. he part-times at the local bar/restaurant. comic book nerd and music enthusiast. grayson would often sneak out of class and drag lola with him, she’d remind him he’s ruining her ivy league career but lola always went anyway. he misses her but his pride and heart are way too hurt.
despite their fall out, they do make amends eventually (after lots of arguing and tears and more time apart) and i’d love to see gracie fall in love with someone that treats him right. 🥺

TOO MANY TELEVISION SETS
October 14, 1949
Tumblr media
"Too Many Television Sets” (aka “Liz and George Order a Television Set” aka “Television”) is episode #58 of the radio series MY FAVORITE HUSBAND broadcast on October 14, 1949.
This was the sixth episode of the second season of MY FAVORITE HUSBAND. There were 43 new episodes, with the season ending on June 25, 1950.
Synopsis ~ Liz can't get George interested in buying a television set, until they spend an evening at the Atterburys, who have one. With his interest piqued, George arranges one be sent over on trial. Little does he know Liz has done the same thing - as have the Atterbury’s!
Tumblr media
“My Favorite Husband” was based on the novels Mr. and Mrs. Cugat, the Record of a Happy Marriage (1940) and Outside Eden (1945) by Isabel Scott Rorick, which had previously been adapted into the film Are Husbands Necessary? (1942). “My Favorite Husband” was first broadcast as a one-time special on July 5, 1948. Lucille Ball and Lee Bowman played the characters of Liz and George Cugat, and a positive response to this broadcast convinced CBS to launch “My Favorite Husband” as a series. Bowman was not available Richard Denning was cast as George. On January 7, 1949, confusion with bandleader Xavier Cugat prompted a name change to Cooper. On this same episode Jell-O became its sponsor. A total of 124 episodes of the program aired from July 23, 1948 through March 31, 1951. After about ten episodes had been written, writers Fox and Davenport departed and three new writers took over – Bob Carroll, Jr., Madelyn Pugh, and head writer/producer Jess Oppenheimer. In March 1949 Gale Gordon took over the existing role of George's boss, Rudolph Atterbury, and Bea Benaderet was added as his wife, Iris. CBS brought “My Favorite Husband” to television in 1953, starring Joan Caulfield and Barry Nelson as Liz and George Cooper. The television version ran two-and-a-half seasons, from September 1953 through December 1955, running concurrently with “I Love Lucy.” It was produced live at CBS Television City for most of its run, until switching to film for a truncated third season filmed (ironically) at Desilu and recasting Liz Cooper with Vanessa Brown.
MAIN CAST
Tumblr media
Lucille Ball (Liz Cooper) was born on August 6, 1911 in Jamestown, New York. She began her screen career in 1933 and was known in Hollywood as ‘Queen of the B’s’ due to her many appearances in ‘B’ movies. With Richard Denning, she starred in a radio program titled “My Favorite Husband” which eventually led to the creation of “I Love Lucy,” a television situation comedy in which she co-starred with her real-life husband, Latin bandleader Desi Arnaz. The program was phenomenally successful, allowing the couple to purchase what was once RKO Studios, re-naming it Desilu. When the show ended in 1960 (in an hour-long format known as “The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour”) so did Lucy and Desi’s marriage. In 1962, hoping to keep Desilu financially solvent, Lucy returned to the sitcom format with “The Lucy Show,” which lasted six seasons. She followed that with a similar sitcom “Here’s Lucy” co-starring with her real-life children, Lucie and Desi Jr., as well as Gale Gordon, who had joined the cast of “The Lucy Show” during season two. Before her death in 1989, Lucy made one more attempt at a sitcom with “Life With Lucy,” also with Gordon.
Richard Denning (George Cooper) was born Louis Albert Heindrich Denninger Jr., in Poughkeepsie, New York. When he was 18 months old, his family moved to Los Angeles. Plans called for him to take over his father's garment manufacturing business, but he developed an interest in acting. Denning enlisted in the US Navy during World War II. He is best known for his  roles in various science fiction and horror films of the 1950s. Although he teamed with Lucille Ball on radio in “My Favorite Husband,” the two never acted together on screen. While “I Love Lucy” was on the air, he was seen on another CBS TV series, “Mr. & Mrs. North.” From 1968 to 1980 he played the Governor on “Hawaii 5-0″, his final role. He died in 1998 at age 84.
Gale Gordon (Rudolph Atterbury) had worked with Lucille Ball on “The Wonder Show” on radio in 1938. One of the front-runners to play Fred Mertz on “I Love Lucy,” he eventually played Alvin Littlefield, owner of the Tropicana, during two episodes in 1952. After playing a Judge in an episode of “The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour” in 1958, he would re-team with Lucy for all of her subsequent series’: as Theodore J. Mooney in ”The Lucy Show”; as Harrison Otis Carter in “Here’s Lucy”; and as Curtis McGibbon on "Life with Lucy.” Gordon died in 1995 at the age of 89.
Bea Benadaret (Iris Atterbury) was considered the front-runner to be cast as Ethel Mertz but when “I Love Lucy” was ready to start production she was already playing a similar role on TV’s “The George Burns and Gracie Allen Show” so Vivian Vance was cast instead. On “I Love Lucy” she was cast as Lucy Ricarodo’s spinster neighbor, Miss Lewis, in “Lucy Plays Cupid” (ILL S1;E15) in early 1952. Later, she was a success in her own show, “Petticoat Junction” as Shady Rest Hotel proprietress Kate Bradley. She starred in the series until her death in 1968.
Ruth Perrott (Katie, the Maid) was also later seen on “I Love Lucy.” She first played Mrs. Pomerantz, a member of the surprise investigating committee for the Society Matrons League in “Pioneer Women” (ILL S1;E25), as one of the member of the Wednesday Afternoon Fine Arts League in “Lucy and Ethel Buy the Same Dress” (ILL S3;E3), and also played a nurse when “Lucy Goes to the Hospital” (ILL S2;E16). She died in 1996 at the age of 96.
Bob LeMond (Announcer) also served as the announcer for the pilot episode of “I Love Lucy”. When the long-lost pilot was finally discovered in 1990, a few moments of the opening narration were damaged and lost, so LeMond – fifty years later – recreated the narration for the CBS special and subsequent DVD release.
GUEST CAST
Tumblr media
Jay Novello (Joe Beckett, the Atterbury’s Neighbor) would appear on “I Love Lucy” as superstitious Mr. Merriweather in “The Seance" (ILL S1;E7), nervous Mr. Beecher in “The Sublease” (ILL S3;E31), and Mario the gondolier in “The Visitor from Italy” (ILL S6;E5). He also appeared on two episodes of “The Lucy Show,” but dapper Novello is probably best remembered for playing Mayor Lugatto on “McHale’s Navy” in 1965.
Tumblr media
Wally Maher (Mr. Trimble) appeared on radio as the title character in the series “The Adventures of Michael Shayne, Private Detective”. In 1947 he appeared on radio with Lucille Ball in “Dark Corner”. Earlier in 1949, he was heard on “My Favorite Husband” in “Vacation Time.” He was a regular on “Let George Do It” and “Lineup” and was frequently heard on “The Cavalcade of America” and “Lux Radio Theatre.” Maher passed away in December 1951, only 43 years old.
Although the original Michael Shayne, the role was later played by Richard Denning (George Cooper).
Tumblr media
Peter Leeds (TV Deliveryman) was born in Bayonne, NJ, and will also be heard on “My Favorite Husband in “Mother In-Law” in November 1949 and “Dance Lessons” in June 1950. He will be seen as the Reporter questioning the Maharincess of Franistan in “The Publicity Agent” (ILL S1;E31). He starred with Lucy in the films The Long, Long Trailer (1953) and The Facts of Life (1960) with Bob Hope. Coincidentally, he also appeared in “Lucy and Bob Hope” (ILL S6;E1) as well as an episode of “Here’s Lucy” in 1971.
EPISODE
ANNOUNCER: “As we look in on the Coopers, dinner is over. George Cooper is in the living room reading the paper. Liz Cooper is in the kitchen talking to Katie, the maid.”
Liz tells Katie that she has a plan to get George to buy her a television set. She is going to hold up a big glass pie plate in front of her face and pretend like she’s a television wrestler.
LIZ: “Do I look like television?” KATIE: “Well your face is all wavy and distorted.” LIZ: “I look like television alright.”
Liz enters the living room with the pie plate in front of her face, but George thinks she is a washing machine.
Tumblr media
Lucille Ball actually voiced a washing machine named Lina for a Westinghouse industrial film titled “Ellis in Freedomland” (1952).  In 1958, she hid inside a washing machine at the end of “Lucy Buys Westinghouse”, another industrial film for the appliance manufacturer.
Tumblr media
In 1952′s “Lucy Does a TV Commercial” (ILL S1;E30), Lucy Ricardo dispenses with the pie plate and disembowels her television set to look like she’s on the air!  Like George, Ricky isn’t buying it.
George guesses that Liz is supposed to be a sailor looking out of a port hole, but warns her that he is not going to buy a television set, effectively ending the conversation. Liz says she is a social pariah because she doesn’t have a television set.
LIZ: “I never know who won the fights or what Kukla and Fran are doing to Ollie.”
Tumblr media
“Kukla, Fran, and Ollie” was a children’s television show created by Burr Tillstrom that aired from 1947 to 1957. Kukla and Ollie were puppets and actress Fran Allison interacted with them. The show won a 1949 Peabody Award and went on to win two Emmys.
George suggests Liz read the newspaper or listen to the radio instead.
LIZ: “Television is taking the place of the newspaper.” GEORGE: “It is, huh? Well, I’d like to see you wrap the garbage in a television set!”
Tumblr media
Before the advent of plastic garbage bags, food waste from the kitchen was generally wrapped in old newspapers before being deposited in the trash bin outside the home.
LIZ: “Every house on the block has an aerial. Our house looks positively naked.”
Tumblr media
Before cable television and internet streaming, homes received television broadcast signals via an antenna (aerial) on the roof. In “Lucy Puts Up a TV Antenna” (TLS S1;E9) Lucy Carmichael decides to save the cost of an installation and erect the aerial herself - to disastrous results.
George agrees to buy the aerial - but not the television set.
LIZ: “Oh, great, that’ll fool everybody. Before we go out at night we can peel onions so our eyes will be bloodshot!”
Liz asks George to buy him an apple box instead.
LIZ: “If I have to watch it [TV] through a store window, at least I’ll have something to sit on.”
Tumblr media
Before television sets became affordable to the general public, it was not uncommon to find people gathered in front of an appliance store window to view it from the street.
Liz answers the telephone. It is Iris, who brags about her brand new television set, which was delivered the day before.
IRIS: “I did my knitting last night with Ed Wynn; I had breakfast with Tex and Jinx; and this afternoon I took a bath with Hopalong Cassidy!”
Tumblr media
“The Ed Wynn Show” was a variety show broadcast from September 22,1949 to July 4, 1950 on the CBS Television Network. Comedian and former vaudevillian Ed Wynn was the star of the program. Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz made their television debut as a couple on the show on Christmas Eve 1949, just a few weeks after this episode of “My Favorite Husband”.
Tumblr media
“Tex and Jinx” were Eugenia “Jinx” Falkenberg and her husband John “Tex” McCRary. The couple were popular radio hosts who began on television in January 1947.
Tumblr media
“Hopalong Cassidy” made the leap from books and movies to the small screen on June 24, 1949, kicking off the legacy of the Western on television. These were not new, but simply cut-down versions of the feature films that were in cinemas from 1935 to 1948. The film / TV series had William Boyd in the title role. A new TV series (also starring Boyd) with newly-filmed adventures, began  in 1952.
Iris’s comment about “taking a bath with Hopalong Cassidy” gets a big reaction from the “My Favorite Husband” studio audience not used to salacious innuendo.
Iris comes up with an idea to help Liz convince George to buy her a television set. She invites the Coopers to come over, where their TV will be showing a football game. George will naturally see the joys of owning a TV and give in!
Instead of Iris or Rudolph, the Atterbury’s front door is answered by their neighbor, Joe Beckett (Jay Novello), the local TVM (television moocher).  He says they just missed the big brawl!
GEORGE: “Mr. and Mrs. Atterbury?” JOE: “No. The Terrible Turk and Gorgeous George!”
Tumblr media
Wrestling matches were very popular on radio and early television, producing such colorful wrestlers as the Terrible Turk and Gorgeous George. George Raymond Wagner (1915–63), was known as Gorgeous George because of his long blonde hair. He was mentioned on “I Love Lucy” in “Pioneer Women” (ILL S1;E25) and “Ricky’s Movie Offer” (ILL S4;E6). In 1949, Republic Pictures released a film starring Gorgeous George. Laurence LeBell (1907-48) was known as Ali Alaba, The Terrible Turk, a name that was used by many wrestlers from the late 19th century onwards. He died in a car crash just weeks after this episode aired.
Joe warns the Coopers not to sit behind Iris because they only have a ten inch screen. (Liz adds that Iris has a 16″ neck.) He advises that they visit the Schraders who watch “Pantomime Quiz” and serve sandwiches. The Andersons have beer, but you have to watch Western movies.
Tumblr media
“Pantomime Quiz” (later titled “Stump the Stars”), was a television game show hosted by Mike Stokey. Running from 1947 to 1959, it has the distinction of being one of the few television series to air on all four TV networks during the Golden Age of Television. Lucille Ball is reported to have been on the series in December 1947, which would make it her television debut.
George realizes Liz’s scheme but is insistent that he won’t watch television. When he hears a football game is on, however, he is intrigued, and decides to see “how bad it looks”.
Liz’s incessant chattering makes Mr. Atterbury miss several key plays in the game. Mr. Beckett is back but then the picture suddenly goes black!  They have to imagine the game and the commercials.
ANNOUNCER: “Liz’s plan to get George interested in television has blown a fuse.  Right now, Liz is on her way downtown to drown her sorrows by buying a new hat...”
Tumblr media
On her way down Sheridan Boulevard, Liz stops in front of a Trimble’s Appliance Store to gaze at the television in the window. An elderly man stops to chat with her about the joys of television. He convinces her to go in and ask about buying one. Of course, he turns out to be Mr. Trimble himself. She tells him to send over a set on trial.
Tumblr media
Later that day, George finds himself in front of the same store, where he encounters the same elderly man!  Needless to say, Mr. Trimble is successful in selling another set to George!  Mr. Trimble thinks the address sounds familiar, but isn’t sure.
Tumblr media
Still later, the Atterbury’s are doing the marketing when they stop in front of Trimble’s Appliance Store. Mr. Atterbury, already having a set, is convinced to send George Cooper. Mr. Trimble is now positive that he’s gotten the same address three times. He thinks he is being tricked and vows that he will only send over one TV set on trial, not three.
After dinner, the Coopers decide to stay in for the evening. The doorbell rings. Unbeknownst to one another, they both are expecting a TV delivery, but instead, it is the Atterburys. A moment later the bell rings again and a deliveryman (and Mr. Beckett) is there with one new television set. Naturally, the Atterburys, Liz, and George, all think they are the ones who bought the set!
The Atterburys think the Coopers are ungrateful and they decide to leave. Rudolph tries to take the TV set with him, but the set is damaged in the tussle.
LIZ: “You’re right Iris, this IS the television set you sent out!”
This ending is reminiscent of when the Ricardos and Mertzes argue over who broke a TV set Fred and Ethel gave Lucy and Ricky as a gift. They, too, argue over ownership of the set, until it is irreparably damaged!
Tumblr media
LUCY: “Look what happened to YOUR television set!”

Blu-ray Review: Big Trouble in Little China
Tumblr media
While cinephiles reflect on John Carpenter's output from the '70s and '80s with great reverence - some might argue that it's an unparalleled run of genre classics - many of his films were considered failures upon initial release due to a lack of commercial success. The Thing is the most well-documented example, but Big Trouble in Little China suffered a similar fate. Produced by 20th Century Fox, the film's domestic gross of $11.1 million only covered about half of its budget, and the critical reception was mixed.
Disillusioned by the Hollywood system, the production influenced Carpenter to return to his independent roots, where he would stay for much of the remainder of his career. But, like many of the master of horror's works, Big Trouble found a cult audience through television and home video. Difficult to classify, the genre-bending adventure combines elements of action (martial arts, no less), comedy, fantasy, horror, western, and even a dash of romance.
Tumblr media
The film follows swaggering truck driver Jack Burton (Kurt Russell, The Thing), who finds big trouble while passing through California's Chinatown. He becomes mixed up with Lo Pan (James Hong, Blade Runner), an ancient, evil sorcerer with a legion of warrior followers. Burton has a crew of his own, including his newfound love interest, Gracie Law (Kim Cattrall, Sex and the City); his friend with a vendetta against Lo Pan, Wang Chi (Dennis Dun, Prince of Darkness); and Egg Shen (Victor Wong, 3 Ninjas), who shares his expertise in magic.
Big Trouble in Little China plays out like John Carpenter's answer to Indiana Jones. In lesser hands, it would be little more than a campy B-movie, but Carpenter's unique lens elevates the material without losing the quirkiness. Aside from a plot that's more complicated than it needs to be, this is the closest Carpenter ever came to making a children's movie, complete with an extremely '80s end credit theme song performed by The Coupe De Villes (consisting of Carpenter and filmmaking friends Nick Castle and Tommy Lee Wallace).
Tumblr media
The screenplay began as a cowboy western that incorporated Chinese fantasy elements, written by first-timers Gary Goldman (Total Recall) and David Z. Weinstein, before script doctor W.D. Richter (Invasion of the Body Snatchers) adapted it from the Old West to a contemporary setting. When it came time to shoot, Carpenter smartly solicited input from the Asian cast and crew members to ensure well-rounded portrayals rather than stereotypes.
The introduction of Chinese mysticism allows for the inclusion of monsters, which were created by Steve Johnson (Ghostbusters, Species). The special effects guru was initially disappointed to have to make cartoony characters, per Carpenter's request - but, after seeing the final product, he conceded that the filmmaker was right. The creatures are not a far cry from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles villains, but there's a charm to them that fits the picture's atypical tone.
Tumblr media
Jack Burton is ostensibly the prototypical action hero, as the story is framed around him. Upon closer inspection, however, the character is little more than a bumbling sidekick to Wang Chi, who actually knows what he's doing. Burton serves as the voice of the Western audience, ignorant of the mythology and incredulous to the sorcery. Russell, in his fourth of five collaborations with Carpenter, tackles the charismatic part with aplomb.
Big Trouble in Little China has received a new Collector's Edition Blu-ray courtesy of Shout Factory. It's available in both standard and limited edition Steelbook packaging with artwork by Laz Marquez and Nathanael Marsh, respectively. In their final collaboration, Carpenter and longtime cinematographer Dean Cundey's (Halloween, Jurassic Park) widescreen visuals shine even more in high definition, utilizing an existing transfer that’s sharp.
Tumblr media
The first of two discs features three audio commentaries, two of which are new. The first is more of an extended interview with producer Larry Franco, hosted by special features producer Justin Beahm. Rarely mentioning what's on screen, they discuss Franco's entire career - including his lengthy stint on Carpenter film's from Elvis to They Live - in chronological order. The second new track finds Johnson in conversation with Sharknado filmmaker Anthony C. Ferrante. Thanks to Johnson's unfiltered nature, it's a fascinating and entertaining chat in which he divulges that he funded his early makeup supplies by selling marijuana, beer, and shoplifted goods to friends.
An archival commentary with Carpenter and Russell, recorded circa 2001, is full of laughs between the two friends. They poke fun at the fact that the movies they do together don't catch on until later, while Carpenter acknowledges that the Big Trouble set was reused in Janet Jackson's "When I Think of You" music video. An isolated score track, featuring 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio of the synth soundtrack composed by Carpenter in association with regular collaborator Alan Howarth (They Live, Christine), is also available.
Tumblr media
The first disc also includes: a vintage audio interview with Carpenter promoting the film; electronic press kit interviews with Carpenter, Russell, Dun, Cattrall, Hong, and visual effects artist Richard Edlund (Star Wars); deleted and extended scenes, including the extended ending; a gag reel; the Coupe De Villes' music video, which somehow makes the song feel even more overtly '80s; three theatrical trailers, one of which is in Spanish; five TV spots; and three photo galleries: movie stills, posters and lobby cards, and behind-the-scenes pictures.
The second disc contains a whopping twelve new interviews with cast and crew members. Dunn discusses his transition from marketing student to actor on a whim. Hong, equipped with a paper fan that he puts to good use when discussing Big Trouble, calls Lo Pan one of his best roles. Actor Donald Li, noting the stereotypical nature of most Asian roles in Hollywood, says he identified with his happy-go-lucky character of Eddie Lee. Actor Carter Wong discusses how his martial arts training led to a film career and his explosive death scene as Thunder. Actor Peter Kwong, who plays Rain, details the racial prejudices he faced early in his career, driving his aspirations to spread a message of humanity rather than race. Actor Al Leong, who plays the Hatchet Man, is animated in his praise for Carpenter.
Tumblr media
Richter details how he turned the original period western script into a contemporary film. Goldman provides additional context to the earlier script, including original scenes that were modernized. Martial arts choreographer James Lew explains how he was drawn to martial arts because he saw Asian representation in Bruce Lee films. Castle - best known for playing Michael Myers in Halloween and co-writing Escape from New York - tells more of his origins and musical background that led to The Coupe De Villes. Wallace - who directed Halloween III and It - calls music his first love as he discusses his lifelong friendship with Carpenter, including their earlier musical collaborations. Legendary poster artist Drew Struzan (Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Harry Potter) shares his fascinating backstory and admits that he posed for his own reference photo for Kurt Russell's body on the poster.
Although they did not participate in new extras, 2013 interviews with Carpenter and Russell offer their recent thoughts on the project. The straight-talking Carpenter is open about his unpleasant experience dealing with the studio, while Russell looks back on his Carpenter collaboration with fondness but reveals that the studio intentionally buried the release. There's also interviews from the same period with Cundey, who briefly touches on his many Carpenter collaborations; Franco, which features a lot of the same information from the commentary; and stuntman/actor Jeff Imada. Extras are rounded out by an archival interview with Endlund, who breaks down several visual effect gags, and a vintage making-of featurette.
Big Trouble in Little China is available now on Blu-ray and Steelbook via Scream Factory.

The Adventures of Lee and Gracie - BONES AND ALL: Author's Notes.
Tumblr media
Mini series time because I'm rediscovering my infatuation with Bones and All! If you've seen the movie, I'm going to stick to the same general plot, but I have to change it up to make it my own. No shade to Maren, love her, but she's not in this.
I have a few 'mini series' in the works, and it's easier to give the reader a name rather than y/n each time, so everyone meet Gracie! She's going to be the character in all the 'series' but any stand alone fanfiction I write will still contain the y/n prompt.
FOR THE BONES AND ALL SERIES:
Lee is going to remain very much the same. At the time of writing this, I don't have plans to change his character in the slightest, outside of making him talk a little more. He's also going to be 22!
Gracie is the daughter of an eater, but she doesn't eat- never had the inclination to do it. That's important to remember. The bulk of her backstory is in the very beginning of part 1, and she's turning 21 in part 2. She will fill in any gaps in conversations with Lee.
** This post is subject to change as the story develops**
My typical 'Warnings and such' will be posted on each part I upload, but here's the bulk of them:
18+ MINORS DNI!! I want to write a little smut for the two of them, but I want to establish the fact that they are both of age before anything else comes into play!
There will be lots of mentions of blood and death and cannibalism- obviously. There will also be mentions of abuse, drugs, alcohol and cigarettes. Some adult themes (see above), and all around violence. If there's anything else I should add, please let me know! I'm also going to be updating this list as I write.
I will be uploading each part separately and will post the links to each part when I figure out how to do it!
I wouldn't call myself a great writer- there's about a million ideas in my head but putting them on paper has always been incredibly difficult for me. Tumblr is my fist experience with letting anyone else read what I write, and it's still nerve-wracking but I appreciate the love I have gotten so far! Brother-Fucker was so much fun to write but SO scary to post! I'm hoping that as the nerves settle, the writing will get better- so please bear with me on this one!!
Tumblr media
Edit to Add: Timothee Chalamet era is in full swing! Mini series will be based on Call Me By Your Name, Beautiful Boy, A Rainy Day in New York (I know, I know) The King, and Dune. I don't have enough ideas to do Little Women and Lady Bird- YET!
Stand alone fanfics will be based on Regulus MF Black!, Timothee Chalamet himself, Mattheo Riddle, Draco Malfoy, Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, James Potter (maybe Peter Pettigrew before he became a rat, but not a real rat, a rat rat). Harry Potter is my *thing* if you couldn't tell by my page!
I hope that's all! Thanks again to everyone!!!

(DJ) Spoon’s Review of 2018
This year I haven’t listened to much music at all, at least not in comparison to previous years and I certainly haven’t been to many gigs. I’m sure this won’t last but this year I’ve been busier at work so less likely to plug in, I’ve stuck to the radio in the car just to keep up with how messy Brexit really is (ooer a bit of politics) and my runs have been 100% fueled by podcasts so music has just taken a backseat. However, I couldn’t let the year go past without some kind of list...so here is a pot pourri of my favourite discoveries of 2018.

Seeing as these have been so important this year I’ll start here...and cheat slightly by bigging up some oldies, but good enough to bang on about again.
Old favourites : Running Commentary (Comedians Paul Tonkinson and Rob Deering take you on their runs and chat sometimes about running, but always about life, kids, comedy and anything that pops into their heads), Adam Buxton (always entertaining ramble chat from Dr Buckles whoever is on, I’ve learnt stuff and I’ve laughed a lot), My Dad Wrote a Porno (Sheer filth as ever but genuinely caused me to LOL during my runs, wondering if people can hear that I’m listening to chat about vaginal lids).
New entries : Off Menu (Ed Gamble and James Acaster opened their genie run fantasy restaurant a month ago and it has quickly become one of my favourite podcasts ever. Eclectic guests pick their fantasy 3 course meals, simple premise and it works. The Scroobius Pip episode was a perfect clash of two excellent pods), Blank (another late entry into 2018 from Jim Daly and Giles Paley-Phillips ostensibly about blank moments in life but just rammed with infotaining chat from ‘non standard’ guests including a jaw dropping episode with Michael Rosen and fun with Gary Lineker and Susie Dent), Poddin’ on the Ritz (sadly now finished with maybe its only series) this pod recorded backstage at Young Frankenstein by Hadley Fraser and the sublime Ross Noble made me laugh more than any other in 2018, it might be about musicals but their search for Kenneth Branagh’s snowglobes and Lesley Joseph adoration was a joy.

2. Board games
They say a family that plays together, stays together. Well we are together more than you can imagine. We’ve played over 220 games this year! Here are our favourite new games into our collection:
The game of the year is Azul, a seemingly simple tile grab and place game, building up a mosaic prettier than anyone else, is full of strategy and a little (but not too much) shafting of others. If you really want to shaft your fellow players though then pick up Unstable Unicorns, a card game where you aim to grow your stable of unicorns, whilst stopping others filling theirs. SO many different cards, tactics and ways to mess it up, you will swear at some point. Discovered in the excellent new board game cafe The Dice Box in Leamington, we bought Meeple Circus before we left, it’s that much fun. Rehearse and perform the best tiny wooden meeple circus performance, accompanied by a bespoke playlist. Stack the acrobats, balance the lions and raise the bar. Another board game cafe, Chance & Counters in Bristol introduced us to the frantic game of Klask, a cross between air hockey, pool and table football. Slide the magnets around to flick a ball into your opponents hole, avoid the magnetic biscuits and don’t KLASK! When is a game not a game? another game of the year has been played a lot in our house, and it’s The Mind. 100 cards numbered 1-100, no words between players and a tense task to lay cards in ascending order. Simple? yes? possible? nope! but it’s sure to cause fun and arguments. The final two of MY favourite sadly aren’t quite as loved by my family, but I’ll get them there. Sagrada is a similar game to Azul with you attempting to build a beautiful stained glass window with coloured dice. More variations and thinking needed than Azul which adds to the challenge. And finally and lovely chess like 2 player game which transports you to the sun dappled Greek island of Santorini. Take the powers of a god and build the traditional blue domed white houses of the island whilst trying to stop your opponent climbing onto a roof. A lot of ‘aha, you’ve stopped me’ moments.

3. TV
It’s been a long old year at work, and in the world of parenting so we’ve found ourselves flopped on the settee many evenings just soaking up great drama, comedy and chilling ;o)
We are very late to the party with Suits but that means we have 8 series to wade through! Really neat writing, bants and relationships between characters, a ‘don’t worry they will always win’ calmness about it and you get to see the Queen in her knickers...ish. Another Netflix treat this year was Magic for Humans with Justin Willman, a hugely likeable and funny magician pulling off tricks that constantly make me smirk with a huge dollop of WTF? amazing. A huge recommendation. A late entry to my TV highlights of 2018 is from the warped warped mind of Charlie Brooker...of course with Bandersnatch. An interactive choose your own adventure TV ‘event’ (I know) that had us hooked for the full 90 minutes (only if you want to see how much bloodshed you can invoke!). Completely on the other end of the spectrum was the sublime and minimalistic Mortimer and Whitehouse: Gone Fishing. I don’t like fishing and why would I find two old mates just teasing each other for half an hour entertaining? No idea but it was beautiful. Like Radio 4, comforting and perfect. Then a few suspenseful dramas that got us on the edge of the settee, Killing Eve (quirky AF), Bodyguard (did they really kill Keely Hawes that early?) and Informer (bleak bleak bleak) and sweaty bullocks in ‘should be in the next section really’ Bird Box (made Informer seem like a giggle fest).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
4. Films
Really haven’t been to the cinema much in the last 12 months and only once to see a ‘grown up’ film I think but kid’s films are SO good at the moment that’s ok. A few stand out films for me were:
Ralph Breaks the Internet, much better than the first one, lots of #lolz internet jokes and more than a little heart. Wrap me up in a duvet and give me a hot cocoa and Paddington 2 any day, tears at the end. A little more sighing but just as much emotion in Christopher Robin, not sure why Eeyore had an American accent but the characters were spot on and nicely faithful to the original concepts. The one time I did venture out for an adult (it’s a 12 so almost ;o) and saw Ready Player One I was delighted, yeah it might not be a) as good as or b) anything like the book but a visual treat and an enjoyable romp.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
5. Books
I read A LOT, until my Kindle donks me on the head in bed anyway...literally a tiny selection of books that have kept me awake.
The Secret Lives of Colour - Kassia St Clair. They say never judge a book by its cover. Well that didn’t work...I bought this purely because it is a beautiful package, the hardback a lot more pleasing imho. Simply 2 coloured pages about how each colour was discovered, invented and introduced throughout history. I never really gave it a thought that colours were...made. Weird and fascinating.
This Is Going to Hurt - Adam Kay. A hilarious ‘secret’ diary of a junior doctor that horrifies at the same time. I think we all knew it was a hard life but bloody hell, if you didn’t love the NHS before you will after this. A thoroughly enjoyable and insightful story of Adam’s journey through medicine. And that ending...wooof.
Moose Allain - I Wonder What I’m Thinking About. I love Moose, I love his colour-me-advent calendars, I love his tweet threads that show the best in Twitter, I love his cartoons and this book is all of those wrapped up in one. And a certain Mr Spoon is to thank for the publication, find me in the back of Unbound funders! An inspiring book for anyone who loves art, creativity and childish humour.
Factfulness : Ten Reasons We’re Wrong About the World - Hans Rosling. A brilliantly clever and educational book about why the world is NOT as shit as it might seem some times. It’s all backed up by real data and lovely lovely graphs!
Lee Child and Ian Rankin. A highlight of the year is the next Reacher and Rebus novels and these two didn’t disappoint. Rebus’ latest adventure Past Tense, is a self-contained story that could introduce anyone to the man machine that is Jack Reacher. Rebus however is back, retired but won’t lie down, in In A House of Lies, an old case comes back to haunt him and will this finally be his downfall? I doubt it!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
6. Music
As mentioned, I haven’t ‘been into music’ as much in 2018 for various reasons but I’ve still enjoyed some great new discoveries:
Barns Courtney - The Attractions of Youth, discovered via the use of Glitter and Gold for the theme tune of Netflix’s Safe. An album of ‘cheesy, commercially viable blues and folk rock’ apparently. I just liked the visceral nature of some of the tracks and it always fired me up at work on slow days.
Isaac Gracie - Isaac Gracie, a rare listened to recommendation from my wife. Isaac is everything I claim to like, fragile thin sensitive boys with acoustic guitars....and I do very much with this. Painful screeched out tales of heartbreak. Sublime.
R.E.M. - Live at the BBC, 104 rare and live tracks from arguably one of the best bands ever. Some of the tracks I haven’t heard since my bootleg cassette buying days at Sheffield Uni, when the world was in black and white. Not all tracks are of the greatest audio quality but bliss for a fanboy like me.
Creep Show - Mr Dynamite, a spin off project for Mr John Grant and even from the eclectic crooner this is an odd one. Glitchy electronica with vocoders all over the place. Weird and very Marmite.
Public Service Broadcasting - Every Valley and everything else. The latest offering from the other PSB was a trip through the miner’s crisis and Thatcher years. Bleak? yup but fascinating snippets of well, public service broadcasting and guest stars including the obligatory Welsh rockers the Manics. This album is perfect by itself but it ‘forced’ me to go back and really discover all the PSB albums. The Live at Brixton release is a huge recommendation, I wish I was there.
Rex Orange County - Apricot Princess, maybe I just added this in to seem cool as Rex, aka Alexander O’Conner, was ‘one to watch in 2018′ from the BBC. A multi-instrumentalist that dabbles with hippity hop, R&B and piano pop. The first track alone contains about three musical styles if you wait.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
7. Food & Drink
I run, because I really like food. And thankfully I’ve run a lot in 2018 so I got to enjoy a lot.
I was introduced to the weird fermented tea monstrosity that is kombucha by my sister-in-law. Vinegar tasting drink that may or may not help your gut that grows in your living room. WTAF? However, health benefits aside the LA Brewery Strawberry and Black Pepper drink is something, alongside my pilgrimage to Leon, worth going to London for. I’ve heard it’s also for sale in Solihull but I don’t often travel that far beyond my class ;o) I’d say, try it...but I suspect 9/10 people with hate the flavour.
I suspect 10/10 people that try the Aldi Black Forest Mince Pies would love them, but you won’t get a chance as I’ve bought them ALL. Aldi are a bugger for getting you hooked then never restocking. I only managed 10 boxes in 2018 and we’ve rationed well so have 12 left to get us through the bleak January weather. Cherries, Dark Chocolate, Chocolate pastry and a smidge of mincemeat. Perfect!
There are many ingredient delivery services available and I’ve only tried Gousto but I don’t know why you’d go anywhere else. 33 recipes tried and 32 of them I’d have again, with the one not so good one was still far better than anything I’d cook by myself. So easy, so tasty and if you want to try it I can give you a big discount that will help us buy another box, a tad expensive without a discount but worth a treat every so often.
Genuinely I traveled to London just to visit Max’s Sandwich Shop...kinda. It was certainly the deciding factor in a day out at the Summer Exhibition (see below). I downloaded the Kindle version of this book when it was promoted in an email, I bought some Scampi Fries and made a Fish Finger sandwich, I crumbled up some Ginger Nuts into a Mascarpone and Jam sandwich and I made a Fried Egg, Shoestring Fried and Gammon sandwich then I NEEDED to go and see how it’s really done. Amazing over the top sandwiches in a rough little hipster cafe in Stroud Green (no me neither and it’s a long walk from the tube!). So good I had to a) buy the hard copy of the book and b) carry half the sandwich home as even I couldn’t manage it all...not with deep fried macaroni balls filling me up ;o)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
8. Places
A family that plays together, stays together as a great man once said. And we don’t just play inside, we love adventures so adventures we had.
I’d never been to the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, as it’s in that there London which often seems hundreds of miles away...but I’m so glad that I visited this year. A trip with a good friend with neither of us knowing quite what to expect. We saw, and laughed, and marveled at, paintings, sculptures, videos, photos, models, and weirdness by Banksy next to Joe Lycett next to Grayson Perry next to Harry Hill, next to me mate Lorsen Camps from Coventry. The SA allows ANYONE to submit artwork for consideration and anyone can be accepted. I think this has to become a yearly visit, awesome.
My parents have been wanting to take our kids, and their big kid, to The Forbidden Corner in North Yorkshire for a few years now...and I’m so happy we finally got round to going. Started as a folly to entertain his children this huge labyrinthine site is crammed with strange sculptures, mazes, tricks and squirting fountains. Many hours were spent squeezing through holes, getting lost and getting wet. Beautifully eccentric.
A family holiday to Brittany meant we could visit the loopy city (it’s their phrase!) of Nantes and more importantly Les Machines d’Ile. Ostensibly the workshop of  a group of engineers and artists that make huge animatronic machines and animals...that you can ride on! Needs to be seen to be believed, the Elephant brings out the big kid in everyone...and we can’t wait to go back in a few years when they’ve built a huge forest over the river with ride on caterpillars and dragonfly. Incredible. The city itself is dotted with crazy art and interactive pieces encouraging play, I know a city closer to home that should be the UK Loopy City of Culture!
Luckily Tilly is a Harry Potter obsessive AND it was her birthday last year so it gave us the excuse we didn’t need to visit the Warner Brothers Harry Potter Studio Tour. Wow, just wow. The incredible detail in everything made for the film, the engineering, the amount of artists involved and the presentation of the exhibition blew us away. I’ve enjoyed everything in this list but this maybe was the most magical in the best way.
Many many amazing experiences warrant a mention, but I just don’t have enough words, include Talking Birds - Walk with Me, Print Manufactory Darkroom Workshop, Ludic Rooms Random String Festival, Go Karting with Tilly, some dancing balloons in Broadgate, Godiva Festival with Tony Christie et al, Bristol Gromit trail, Disc Golfing with my girls, Edinburgh Fringe with Dick and Dom and with another wonderful dick from Coventry starring in Bon Jovi musical We’ve Got Each Other, Pandas! at Edinburgh Zoo, Matilda the Musical with Tilly at last, running the Coventry Mile with the girls’ school, Dippy the Dinosaur in Brum, Wicksteed Park (amazing family fun theme park like what they used to be), Cycling on Stratford Greenway in the sun, Autotesting at MotoFest, Bourton-on-the-Water (it’s just a shame 3 million other people know about this gorgeous village), Giant Pac Man in the city centre, Pork Pie making with a good friend, CET several times, Novelty Automation in London and being on The One Show, a couple of Hope & Social gigs and much much much more fun with my wonderful fam and friends. Roll on 2019!

My Review:
★★★
I thought the stories were interesting and well-written, but I wasn't familiar with the characters and so had no connection to them. I was hoping this would be a good introduction to the characters and worlds so that I could decide which series I wanted to read, but that would have required a lot more background not just dumping you in mid-story with a bunch of characters you've never encountered.
I did find the world-building and nods to different cultures very interesting. They were also aimed a bit younger than I generally read, and the character voices were very similar across the stories which made them blur together a bit.
*Thanks to NetGalley and Disney Publishing Worldwide - Rick Riordan Presents for providing an e-arc for review.

Quidditch: Chaser, team captain from fifth year on
Extra Curriculars:
- Dueling Club
- Assistant for Kettleburn
- Weekly Legilimency lessons from Snape
Favorite Professors:
- Professor Kettleburn: Tessa adores his wacko personality and enthusiasm for creatures. He's encouraged her whenever she feels hopeless and is a surprisingly good listener
- Professor Flitwick: The number of times Tessa has nearly cried in his class is insane. She used to be worried about being too unskilled at magic and her nerves made her fail a spell at first, but Flitwick was gentle and talked her through it until she was one of the best in the class. Her bad nerves left in third year, but he's still more gentle with her
Least Favorite Professors:
- Professor Trelawney: Tessa is good at Divination. She enjoys Divination. What she does not enjoy is Trelawney acting like a freak and driving people out of the class. Tessa learns much more from her textbook than from the professor
- Professor Snape: Yes, he's her head of house, but he's an asshole. He's insulting to her and many others and makes her feel more worthless than she already does. If she didn't have Gracie and Penny to help her learn outside of class, she would have failed his O.W.L. Her Legilimency lessons are the worst part of her week
Relationships
Twin Sister: Gracie Tessa Chiva
- Gracie is only eight and a half minutes older than her, but Tessa sometimes feels like Gracie is years older
- She regrets quitting the vaults because she feels like she and Gracie are different people now
- Tessa still blames herself for Gracie's curse. She can't remember the incident, but her wand was two inches from her hand when she woke up and she had no injuries besides the concussion that she thinks is just from falling, so she believes she failed her sister
- Tessa desperately wants her sister's approval and doesn't realize just how much her sister loves her
- She wishes she could do something to protect Gracie for a change
- They were super close as kids and grew apart in the later school years
- All Tessa wants to do most of the time is latch onto Gracie and never let her go into danger again
Older Brother: Vance Riley Chiva
- This bastard
- Vance always favored Gracie
- Tessa still loved him, but she would sometimes feel excluded
- Vance did in fact leave her a few memories, but they were locked in the same box with Gracie's and when Tessa saw how many more Gracie got, she refused to watch hers
- When Vance is freed in fifth year but leaves again without seeing her first, Tessa shatters the picture of him, her and Gracie. It's repaired the next morning, and stays fixed until the end of sixth year when Gracie shatters it too
- Tessa hates Vance
- When he dies in place of her, she realizes she never hated him. She loved him and just wanted him to love her
Younger Cousin: Aiden Carter Darkling
- Aiden is the son of Rachel Chiva, Jason's sister. Rachel and Aiden's father divorced while he was still young, but it was relatively amicable and he comes around for holidays
- Tessa never payed the kid much attention when they were younger, but after he started Hogwarts she took him under her wing a lot
- Aiden comes to her for advice when he has his first crush, when he's nervous about a test, or simply needs a hug. Tessa gets to be a big sister and she loves it
- She's way closer to Aiden than Gracie is, and Aiden isn't hesitant to tell Tessa that he likes her far better. It makes her feel good
Mother: Clarissa Vanessa Black
- Tessa loves her mother, but she doesn't agree with her on a lot of things
- She tries her hardest to make her mother proud, because she knows she's the only "decent" child Clarissa has left
- She actually suggested a contract marriage in hopes of making her mother happy. She was really confused when Clarissa forcefully shut the idea down, not realizing all that her mother went through in her own past
- When Tessa is in her coma in seventh year, she hears her mother go insane (it's what wakes her up) and realizes just how much Clarissa loves her
- Tessa takes much longer to figure out Clarissa and Margaret than Gracie does
- She keeps better in contact with her mother throughout her adulthood than Gracie
- Family dinners are awkward but hey, they're still family
Father: Jason Harvey Chiva
- Tessa, like Gracie, admired Jason a lot as a child
- She only visited his Auror office a few times, because while she thought it was cool she wasn't interested in it as a career
- Tessa didn't see him murder their family friend and didn't believe it when Jason's partner Thomas came to tell her and Clarissa
- She still can't quite believe it, and she misses him a lot, which is why she carries his watch with her *cough cough daddy issues cough*
- The day Gracie has to kill Jason, Tessa destroys the watch
- He tries to kill Margaret in front of Tessa's young daughter Octavia, and that's when Tessa fully believes that Jason lost his mind
Ex Boyfriend: Barnaby Lee
- They met in first year (obviously, they're in the same house), but Tessa never paid him any attention
- It was only in second year when she and Liz were allowed to start getting early lessons from Kettleburn that she started noticing him
- Barnaby was a character during these early lessons
- He hadn't actually signed up for them, but he heard Liz talk about them and just assumed they were open to anyone
- Kettleburn didn't care obviously, he's a bit unstable anyway
- Barnaby would always carry the heavy stuff and Tessa's raging puberty hormones took one look at the muscles and said "heyyyyyyyyy"
- Then of course she actually started talking to him, and dear fucking god was he dumb. But then she talked to him more and he actually wasn't? He was kinda smart in a weird way? And really really nice?
- She never told him she liked him, and by the end of the year he was starting to slip under Merula's control
- Tessa was the one to try and get him to think for himself in year three. She's also the one who dueled him, and she lost miserably, but she stood back up whenever he knocked her down and he admired that. A few weeks later, he asked her out to Hogsmeade
- Gracie was pissed but Tessa didn't care that much
- They were a super cute couple and all of Slytherin (besides her dorm mates) shipped them so hard
- They ended up growing apart in fourth year and deciding they're better off as friends
Love Interest: River Mund
- As of sixth year, they are not together, though it's pretty obvious they both fancy each other
- River is an exchange student from Ilvermorny who arrives the same day as Alanza. Tessa is made to be their tour guide, and while showing them around she can't help but notice that this (very handsome) new boy seems really stressed out. She assumes it's from being so far from home and tries to be encouraging, but he doesn't say a single word the entire time
- River ends up staying in the Slytherin dorms, and Tessa watches him all the time (just out of curiosity of course). He almost never talks to anyone, and is very jumpy when someone gets too close
- After about a month of this, Tessa decides to sit down at the same table as him while doing homework. He seems almost scared of her, but after a week it becomes normal, and she hears his voice for the first time when he asks her for help on his CoMC essay. Another week, and when River packs up his things to go to the dorms, he leaves her a folded up piece of parchment containing a poem he wrote about her
- Tessa starts noticing how often River sneaks into the Forbidden Forest, and gets curious enough to follow him. This is how she discovers he's a vampire - a rarer subspecies theorized to be stemmed from partial vampire breeding together
- River is horrified and thinks she'll hate him since he hates himself. He wasn't born a vampire. His family illegally paid a vampire to break into the hospital and change him to save him from cancer without any input from him. It's why he wanted to come to Hogwarts, to get away from them
- Tessa is scared, obviously, but she tries her best not to show it because he had just started to open up and she didn't want to lose the progress they had been making. When she tells him she's not scared of him River doesn't look like he believes her, but he's so relieved she's trying that he hugs her
- They very quickly become much closer after that, and Tessa realizes that she might be in too deep when she shoves her wrist in his face for him to drink from when he weakly confesses he hasn't had any blood in two weeks without a second thought
- He buys her the ring during January. He claims it's for being such a good friend, but Tessa hopes it's because he likes her (they're both so oblivious)
- They'll get together in seventh year over Christmas break. They both stay behind at the school, and end up confessing while sitting in front of the fire in the Slytheirn common room
Best Friend: Liz Tuttle
- Tessa and Liz met in first year, the first night in the dorms
- Liz, being her awkward self, asked slightly too loudly if anyone wanted to discuss the Fwooper
- Tessa did indeed want to discuss the Fwooper
- Boom, best friends
- Tessa tries being vegan like Liz but can't take it, and reverts to being vegetarian. She's not exactly good at that either, but she never eats meat in front of Liz (at home is fair game)
- She and Liz spend a lot of their free time outside, sneaking into the forest even
- On an assignment from Kettleburn, they accidentally discover the Room of Requirement and now spend free time during bad weather in there
- Liz constantly reassures her that she's not a bad sister for stepping back from the vaults
Rival: Skye Parkin
- They may have been teammates, but Tessa and Skye HATED each other. It really threw off the team dynamics for a while
- Tessa almost quit because Skye made practices miserable for her, and this is when she and Erika ended up friends. Erika convinced her to stay on the team and make Quidditch miserable for Skye instead, and even helped train her
- Orion picking Tessa as his successor and not Skye (who was a year older and more experienced) made Skye so mad she broke her broom and quit. Tessa couldn't help being happy about that. Skye brings out her inner pettiness
Enemy: Vance Riley Chiva
- Tessa is just so sure he's lost all humanity
- She's mad at him for getting them into this mess in the first place
- She swears the next time she sees him, she's going to smack him
- She doesn't get the chance, nor does she get to say anything at all
Dormmates:
- Gracie Chiva
- Liz Tuttle
- Rowan Khanna: they're friends, but very casually, as Rowan is Gracie's best friend
- Merula Snyde: they're not friends, nor will they ever be, but they try very hard not to argue for Gracie's sake
- Ismelda Murk: they too are not friends, but they study History of Magic together because they have similar studying styles and both find the subject interesting
- Colette Belrose: see below
Pets:
- Ruby, the family Crup
- Clara, Vance's toad (she's more Gracie's pet)
- Elaura, a shared owl
- Lemmy, a moke
- various creatures in the reserve that Tessa and Liz coparent
Closest Canon Friends
- Chiara Lobosca: the werewolf quest? Tessa did that. She adores Chiara's kindness and resilience, and frequently uses her Animagus to accompany her on full moons
- Diego Caplan: he helps train Tessa's magical strength. He was totally into her at first, but he calmed down and now they hang out a lot in and out of the Dueling Club
- Erika Rath: Training buddies with a healthy Quidditch rivalry. Tessa has even gotten Erika to come over to her house so they could hang out over the summer
Closest Noncanon Friends
- Gracie Chiva (Jacob's sibling canonically has no other siblings)
- Rosalie Sonnenschein: A German model one year older than her who attends Durmstrang. A first generation part Veela with a very strong natural allure that has men (and women) swooning
- Kyle Orchan: the Squib son of one of the shopkeepers at the clothing store Tessa frequents. He's the best listener Tessa has ever met and loves hearing about her magical adventures. He does sometimes get very sad hearing about this world he'll never be a part of, but he's too nice to ever mention it
- Colette Belrose (@gcldensnitch): Tessa met Colette their first night in the Slytherin dorms. Granted, Tessa spent most of that night talking to Liz, but she went to bed relatively early so Tessa struck up a conversation with Colette. They're super similar and plan to go on a tour of Europe one day. Colette helps Tessa step back and remember to breathe, and she loves her for it
(Storyline has to be in a different post because of tumblr's dumb text limit)
Future
Marriage and Children: Tessa and River get married at the age of twenty one, and almost immediately Tessa gets pregnant with her oldest daughter, Octavia. Her body reacts very negatively and she almost dies while giving birth, so she and River agree to not have any more children. Six years later, Tessa accidentally gets pregnant with twins, Meredith and Alexander. It's a terrifying experience, but all three of them live and the twins are healthy
Career: At the age of twenty two, Tessa is recruited for the Montrose Magpies after one of their scouts watches her casual group's practice. She takes a short break years later to have the twins, and they welcome her back when she joins back up. Her replacement was shit. Tessa gets better at International Apparation so that she and River can spend time in America, England, and Germany without interrupting their work schedules. After she eventually resigns from the team, she uses her "fame" to bring more attention to the petitions for creature rights
The Second Wizarding War:
- Tessa isn't in the country for the most part when the war starts up, though she stops bringing the kids when visiting her mother after it starts getting bad
- After Bill's attack she and River temporarily stay in England for their friends, having her kids stay with Merula and her and Gracie's kids
- She doesn't fight in the Battle of Hogwarts. She's too scared for both herself and Gracie, as if Tessa went to fight Gracie would follow
- Tessa finally discovers all of what happened when Gracie joined R, and how much she truly was one of them for a little while when Olivia Green suddenly enters the picture. That takes her a while to get over, but she's able to
Old Age and Death: Tessa dies at the age of 120 of natural causes, after Gracie, River, Liz, and basically all of her friends. When she gets too lonely, her soul gives up
