I have this idea for an AU wherein Sanji’s physical Germa modifications kick in during his time starving on the rock, and when he’s like 14 Judge finds out and decides to take him back by force, because if the physical modifications took then surely the mental ones will too and if not there’s always psychological conditioning like what he did to Reiju, right? So Germa rocks up to the Baratie, burns it to the waterline, slaughters the crew (almost) to a man, and drags Sanji back. they don’t realize that Zeff survives, and they probably wouldn’t care if they did. (more fool them)
the mental modifications never kick in, but Sanji learns to act like they do, developing this false persona as a vicious shallow hedonist. he also leans hardcore on his growing resemblance to Sora to get Judge to indulge his whims (no, there’s nothing actually sexual about it, but it is deeply uncomfortable and it’s supposed to be). this is because he’s waiting for a very specific kind of opportunity…..
five years later, the Straw Hat Pirates are in Loguetown, getting ready to scale Reverse Mountain when Luffy fucks up the storefront of a shabby little seafood shack off the main square where Roger was once executed and is enlisted into chore boy duty. he gets to talking about dreams and piracy and sailing with the owner.
“do you have any dreams?” he says, failing to mop the floor.
“I used to have a few,” says the owner.
“not anymore?” says Luffy.
“none of your business,” says the owner.
“you should be my cook!” says Luffy.
“not a chance in hell,” says the owner.
then the shit goes down that leads to Luffy being put up on the block and almost executed. when the Straw Hats flee to the Merry they find the owner standing there waiting for them with a book under his arm.
he explains that he can’t be their cook—he’s too old and too broken, he’s had enough of the Grand Line, and besides staying in Loguetown is the best shot he has at achieving his dream (“I knew you had a dream!” yells Luffy. everyone ignores this), but he’s got a cookbook and nutrition guide he’s been working on and the Straw Hats can have the first draft so they don’t totally die of scurvy and shit if they swear to do him one favor—to, if they ever, out there on the sea, meet a nineteen-year-old kid called Sanji, tell him that Red-Leg Zeff is alive.
“yeah! of course!” says Luffy. “if you tell me what your dream is.”
“to see him walk free,” says Zeff.
Zeff’s cookbook keeps the Straw Hats properly nourished. but they barely make it to Sabaody in canon, and here they have one less combatant, so Kuma decides to split the team at Thriller Bark, and instead of sending Zoro to Kuraigana, he sends his unconscious just-bore-Luffy’s-pain ass right onto the Germa 66 flagship.
Judge wants to vivisect Zoro to figure out how a regular human non-DF-user could be so freakshow strong and then turn his head in for the bounty, but Sanji recognizes him as one of the Straw Hats (and thus, one of the liberators of Alabasta) and improvs on the spot that he wants him as a swordsmanship coach (“after all, sir, you want me to improve my swordsmanship”) and, he heavily implies, bed-warmer. thus Zoro wakes up in a Germa 66 infirmary, wounds bandaged, swords gone, and explosive collar on his neck, as the third-born Prince of Germa demands to be allowed to see his new toy alone. (“yes, I’ll be careful with him. I don’t want to break him when I’ve just got him!”)
zoro, having deduced what sanji is alluding to, is about ready to kill him with his bare hands on the spot, but as soon as they’re alone in the room together sanji starts immediately and profusely apologizing for being such a creep. he says he’s not into men (“especially not unwilling ones”) but it was the only way he could think of to get them even occasional privacy, and btw he is probably going to have to claim that he’s doing some unsavory stuff or else Judge might possibly have Zoro killed, but he’ll never lay a hand on Zoro without his consent besides what is strictly necessary to fake it around the Vinsmokes—
at this point Zoro starts to wonder what the hell he’s going on about. Sanji explains the whole thing and says that he’s planning on somehow getting Zoro back to the Straw Hats as soon as he can, and in the meantime he’ll make sure Zoro gets food and medical care and that nobody sells off his swords or anything, but he needs Zoro to do something for him in return:
“I’m going to feed you every bit of knowledge I have about Germa 66, and when you leave here, you need to give that information to someone who can destroy us until not even memories remain.”

I think a lot of people seem hesitant to write about Johan Liebert, believing there’s a need to portray him "accurately" or "seriously" or else don't write him at all.
This fear is completely valid and understandable of course; experiencing it myself. Most works in the "x reader" section tend to lean heavily toward psychological thriller and suspense, all crafted with such skill and depth with downright the most beautiful writing style ever. (can you tell I want to inject these fics right into my veins.)
I absolutely fucking LOVE these. Okay? let's establish that. I eat up these works every time, they clear my skin and water my crops.
What saddens me a bit is to think that starting out writers who read these fics, instead of getting inspired by such beautiful works, accidentally intimidate themselves out of writing for Johan because they think that is the standard of what a Johan fic should look like. I suspect many aspiring writers believe they need to meet certain "requirements" before they can write about Monster or Johan.
It's easy to think that you have to read countless analysis posts on monster, watch the series dozens of times, or have a good grasp in psychology and philosophy before you're allowed to write about him (guilty ✋️).
While it’s beneficial to understand a character well, I've noticed an underlying sense of "perfectionism" found within the fandom, creating this sort of cycle:
-> Look at the Johan/Monster tag: You see no "bad" or "inaccurate" fanfics—only well-written ones. -> Try to write for Johan: You feel your work will never match the quality or accuracy of what's already out there, so you hesitate to share it. -> Avoid uploading your fanfics: you think your work is "inaccurate," so you might as well not upload it. Someone might even bash you for it.
Breeding the idea that only meticulously researched, serious fics are worthy of uploading. I believe these amazing fics should be a source of inspiration to you to share your own stories instead of holding back. I doubt the authors of those fantastic pieces want anyone to feel intimidated. In fact, I'm sure that they, along with many readers, would likely LOVE to see a selection of variety and creativity in the fandom.
It's good to be cautious of your characterization, great even. It means you've at least put in the work right? But you shouldn't let the fear of making something "untrue" to Johan's character stop you entirely. It might help to look at certain fanfics as a way to guide you, but not to set strict laws on yourself. He’s meant to be an enigma, a puzzle to interpret in various ways. For example, one author might say he enjoys tea, while another might explain he prefers blue Gatorade in their story. The beauty of writing him lies in these interpretations!
( Also there are people on platforms like TikTok and YouTube using Johan as a mascot for the "sigma male manipulator". Writing Johan x reader going on a cute date as a little treat for himself with his newfound humanity is absolutely fair game at this point 💀 )
Numerous serious fandoms, like Sherlock, Hannibal, or Dexter, have their share of fluff and unserious fics that don’t delve deeply into character analysis. Yet they’re written, uploaded, and enjoyed by the community.
Fandom and fanfic writing should be a space and a chance for you to experiment and indulge in your creativity. That's what everyone is doing here, it's not a competition for "best writing". You shouldn't feel any pressure to write for anyone else but yourself and write what you wish to read. If anything, I'm pretty sure all the johan peeps are begging to have more people write, eating up any sort of writing like the dogs we are. woof woof bitchh!
You might think that your fanfic about Johan running away to join the circus is stupid, but somewhere out there is someone waiting to find and read a fic of Johan running away to join the circus.

random question - do you have any fic recs for serial killer/stalker/etc dean/cas? or something fucky in similar ways to that? always enjoy your taste!
so i have a few, and i'll list those, but i would also love some clarification as to what exactly you're looking for. i will add links to fics later.
so obviously with understanding by apokteino is kind of the gold standard for this. but you've probably heard of it and most likely read it. you could also check out when all is lost / when the road is as dark as my fears, also by apokteino, for a pretty bad time. [links to mirrors of both fics in this post i wrote, which also has thoughts]
i also greatly enjoy "law enforcement pursuing the winchesters" type fics, (where we see a pov of the canonical winchesters that assumes they are serial killers, even if it isn't exactly right) of which my favorite is the "minimal loss" series by eden22. it's a criminal minds crossover but i've never watched criminal minds so they're just ocs to me, and the fic works fine that way. i have other recs in this genre if you're interested but that one is the best imo.
however, you're probably looking for a more traditional "serial killer au" type fanfiction. i'm kinda picky and easily annoyed, particularly by the classic tropes of the serial killer au, so i can't really give you unconditional recs as such.
so first of all there is this post by moi. that kind of outlines my ideal "serial killer au."
then i have some more questionable ones. i enjoyed number 1 crush by duckyboos, but the serial killer stuff in it was pretty much just "fine" for me, it was like a slasher flick with people who had the same names as spn characters. but the backstory element, which i'm not going to spoil, is like way more understated and therefore way more compelling to me. like it feels like a fucked up little psychological thriller in the best way. the backstory elements really make the fic. but also the fic buys into the concept of a "psychopath" way too hard and like breaks suspension of disbelief for me.
and then there's the angelface verse by anticipating boxes. i can't in good conscience recommend this as a "good" "fic" as such, but i did think about it for eleven years. the premise is tantalizing, but i would actually say that the destiel element is the weakest link. i only ever read the first two, but the most compelling elements to me were always 1) the hints we get at what's going on with the brothers. this isn't full au it's canon a little to the left, or even maybe divergent. and 2) i actually really liked the samruby one i found that it worked a lot better for me than the destiel one. ruby's brainwashing was like more verisimilitudinous than cas', while still being rather goofy in kind of a charming way.
anyway. that's some recs.

top 5 film recs
Putting a lot of thought into this a la film student so I'm just choosing some of the 5 best movies I've seen that I think also capture the beauty of film as an artistic medium.
In no particular order
Burning (Lee Chang-Dong, 2018)
Tumblr media
Deliveryman Jongsu is out on a job when he runs into Haemi, a girl who once lived in his neighborhood. She asks if he’d mind looking after her cat while she’s away on a trip to Africa. On her return she introduces to Jongsu an enigmatic young man named Ben, who she met during her trip. And one day Ben tells Jongsu about his most unusual hobby… (Letterboxd)
A mesmerizing psychological thriller that totally gets in your head yet has a somewhat meandering pace that captures the drawn out nature of these sorts of stories in real life. Breathtaking cinematography. One of my top five and I think a must watch for fans of the genre and/or Korean cinema.
Sans Soleil (Chris Marker, 1983)
Tumblr media
“He wrote me…” A woman narrates the thoughts of a world traveler, meditations on time and memory expressed in words and images from places as far-flung as Japan, Guinea-Bissau, Iceland, and San Francisco. (Letterboxd)
Experimental film at its finest this movie always blows my mind. Moving, contemplative, wonderous. Marker is also just a really important Dude in film history.
The Passion Of Joan of Arc (Carl Theodor Dreyer, 1928)
Tumblr media
A classic of the silent age, this film tells the story of the doomed but ultimately canonized 15th-century teenage warrior. On trial for claiming she’d spoken to God, Jeanne d’Arc is subjected to inhumane treatment and scare tactics at the hands of church court officials. Initially bullied into changing her story, Jeanne eventually opts for what she sees as the truth. Her punishment, a famously brutal execution, earns her perpetual martyrdom. (Letterboxd)
Fuck it silent film. Watched this with a church choir accompaniment and it left me stunned. The first silent film that gave me an oh moment. Reminds you that the medium can transcend so many barriers with so little. I also just think watching silent films or just really old movies is sooo important because it puts the new stuff in a different light sometimes to see the OG filmic storytelling devices.
Moonlight (Barry Jenkins, 2016)
Tumblr media
The tender, heartbreaking story of a young man’s struggle to find himself, told across three defining chapters in his life as he experiences the ecstasy, pain, and beauty of falling in love, while grappling with his own sexuality. (Letterboxd)
Genuinely believe it's one of the best movies made in the 21st century. Gut wrenching and poignant, great writing, beautiful colour grading, amazing casting, one of the best scores I've ever heard (Nicholas Britell stays WINNING I even own it on vinyl), it's just a show stopper for me and an amazing queer film. I think if you haven't seen this but you loved Sciamma's Portrait of a Lady on Fire they have very similar energies.
Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust (Yoshiaki Kawajiri, 2000)
Tumblr media
D has been hired to track down Meier Link, a notoriously powerful vampire who has abducted a woman, Charlotte Elbourne. D’s orders are strict - find Charlotte, at any cost. For the first time, D faces serious competition. The Markus Brothers, a family of Vampire Hunters, were hired for the same bounty. D Must intercept Meier and conquer hostile forces on all sides in a deadly race against time. (Letterboxd)
Genuinely one of the only movies I think has accurately captured gothic vampire literature, it just has the VIBE of Dracula and Carmilla in a way no other movie has. It's not actually about those books, but I think it just has the essence that adaptations miss. A great example of the power of animation!!! (Also you can literally watch it for free on youtube soooo...)
If you read all these thank you for listening... hope I inspired you to watch even one of these suggestions ! My only regret is that I didn't include any lesbian cinema.

Writeblr Intro (cuz i forgot about this)
Tumblr media
AYUP everyone my name's Fleur, i'm a 19 years old woman, im cishet and painfully neurodivergent (AuDHD and MADD). Im also brazilian and christian so there's that! (Trilingual beast coming at ya!)
I've been a writer since who knows when, started to write fanfiction in the worst fandom i could've started (...the beatles), went to an amazing fandom -that turned out to not be that amazing but my writing and storytelling evolved exponentially so im grateful- to now being more focused in original works
I'm currently writing a book with my friend (@serenity-of-waffles)*, and i might probably work in scripts for comics, animations and maybe games????? Let's see-
yeah im an artist too hehehe
Genres i enjoy reading/writing: Fantasy, Scifi, Romance, Thriller/Suspense, Horror, Slice of Life, Supernatural
Here comes the lists of things i like to see in a book and that i tend to write it in my own stuff:
FOUND FAMILY!
A good well written romance sometimes doesn't kill ^.^ (im a cliché beast, careful)
Tragic Backstory? Sign me in
NEURODIVERSITY
Supernatural ocurrences and creatures. Analog Horror, Psychological Horror as well
Super heroes? Yes
Mythological metaphores
I write for both Youth and Adult (im a sucker for children's books they can get so dark suddenly and is amazing)
Mystery elements yesyesyes a good suspense
Deep relationships
Consequences. I love consequences.
Historical plots and period inspired fiction
Super powers, creatures, magic, a whole well made worldbuilding (Tolkien wannabe)
SOOOO what am i looking for??
FRIENDS! People to rant about my silly stories and worlds!
More writers to follow and engage and and- ykwim
Current WIPS? hmmmmm
• Eden Fables: The Inkweaver's Diary - (*NOT WRITING ALONE) So this one i won't give much detail, just know that me and my friends we're going absolutely insane over this book and the entire possible series and is our child, you're not fucking ready. The best fantasy book i ever written in my life TRUST ME. Blame Tolkien and C.S Lewis for inspiring us so much- (sorry for the vague synopsis muahahahah) A story of a boy displaced in time and space as he finds his heart and returns to his throne, finding a family along the way while dealing with the craziest adventures.
• Boreal City (future comic :O) - A retrofuturistic cyberpunk super-hero universe about many different points ot view and adventures that are actually connected (like the Marvel Comics universe or DC comics). Its being one of my favorites so far im having so much fun doing it hehe
Its very inspired by many superhero and retro-cyberpunk media, i cant count here how many hehe Synopsis (for at least one of the stories): From a family of superheroes, turned into a villain by his own demise, and disappearing for 5 years, GlitchWave makes his stupendous comeback in an unexpected redemption arc, and it all starts when he meets his brother again.....
• Gritia's Great Mystery - An amazing story about a corrupt kingdom trying to hide all evidence that god exists, aside from other...cruel crimes against certain groups of people. The aesthetic is a mix of enlightnment era, renassaice and victorian age, all together mixed with elements of thriller, romance, mystery and BIG drama. Maybe one of my most serious stories, since i wont hold back in the critics n shit
The Crown Family of Gritia, for centuries, tries to make the existence of the Mighty King, aka god, a tabboo, or even erase him from all existence, alongside his followers. Anything that goes astray the status quo is suscetible of punishment (or worse....)
That makes Spencer's life a bit complicated, even if he doesnt know abt the Mighty King's existence, he's part of a secret society...lets see where this goes right?
OOF DAMMT I SPOKE A LOT HUH SORRY IM A TALKER! Hope to find more writer friends along the way ^.^

WAIT NO CUTE CAN I GO FIRST
Personality:
-bit of an introvert (agoraphobia is strong with me 😅)
-pretty happy most of the time!! I try to be as optimistic as I can be
-that being said of course sometimes I crash really hard and just need a few days to get myself back into that happy mindset
-people pleaser, but not in the sense that I have no boundaries. I just really enjoy seeing people happy with life and if I can help bring some of that happiness to them, I will!!
-actually extremely insecure which makes me recluse
-more of a couch potato, sure I like to be outside and stuff but I’m not much of a hiker. I’d rather lay on a blanket outside n watch the clouds or something
Likes/interests:
-pink. Anything stereotypical “girly girl” (I hate overly gendered stuff but it’s the best way to explain it. Glitter!!! Pink!! Butterflies!!! Flowers!!! All of that stuff
-this doesn’t usually reflect in my style though because I v much am a drabby tshirt and sweatpants person 😭
-that being said I also DO love dresses!! Like a lot, just not super short ones. I feel like I’m too exposed 😭
-I v much do art, I like to read but I’m not HUGE into it. Prefer to read manga over novels for sure
-unfortunately a weeb
-cats!!!
-my fav foods are queso, Alfredo, and any kind of soggy rice 😅
-I prefer psychological thriller kind of movies that make your head hurt!!!!
-dnd/Sanrio/care bears/ I FUCKING LOVE COWS
-I’m also just about in my late 20s but idk if that’s an interest at all? 😅
-and obviously video games, but stardew is actually the only ‘cozy/life simulator’ game I’ve ever played. More into Zelda and assassins creed :)
I think that’s it :) I’m bisexual so I will be happy with a Bachelor and bachelorette!!
Ily thank u for taking ur time to do this 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻
Oooh my first one ! This one is a bit tricky as I can see multiple matches for different reasons 👀 I’ll go with my gut feeling:
-Shane:
- I’m torn on him because there is a possibility of you two not being good for each other as you share some traits, but it could also be a possibility for you two to come to terms with your struggles (like insecurities) and find an open ear in one another.
-You both are homebodies and like similar kinds of food :D I could see you both ordering takeout and watching some new thriller that just released.
-Your more happy-mindset would also be a nice contrast to his more pessimistic outlook on life, but your “off-days” would show him that it’s ok to not always be 100% positive.
-He thinks you look so cute when you doll up and get all euphoric at your new clothes. Your interest in Sanrio would also be a good base for you and Jas to get along, two women in his life that mean a lot to him.
-he would be SO DOWN to play Tears of the Kingdom with you. Of course it’s a single player game, but just sitting next to each other and helping one-another out doing the quests on their respective switch, or just watching the other play and laugh at whatever stupid shit they can come up with instead of playing the main story hehehe.
-he likes chickens, you like cows, you two share a fondness of a cute farm animal, and it helps a ton with building up that relationship as you two like talking to them, or about them with each other.
-Abigail:
-It’s pretty clear why I chose her. She is a gamer, she loves adventures, she’s an introvert.
-you’re more a homebody, she’s kind of something in-between. You both can spend lazy Sundays together playing video games or you can go outside and wander around in nature or do something fun (if your agoraphobia allows it of course)
-the girl eats rocks…it’s save to say she’s more than happy to eat anything with you, so if you wanna eat rice or pasta every day, so be it.
-she’s not a girly girl, but I think she’d love to dye your hair at least once! You like pink, so why not get some colour in there that matches some of the dresses you wish you wore more often?
-I’m not sure whether she’d be a weeb, but she’d never say no to watching a Shonen anime with you, or even read the manga 👀
-Sebastian:
-why? He’s a nerd, he likes to be inside and play video games and code as his job.
-He’s an introvert like you, so he’d understand when you want to log off and be alone for a bit.
-You could watch movies together ! I HC that he isn’t that much into movies, but once he gets into it, he is very invested, so it could still work out !
-if you draw (because you said you do art), he’d be more than happy if you made some character models for the game he’s working on, or for his discord server etc. he isn’t the artsy type, so he’s more than impressed you are able to cook something up that looks incredible !
-he wouldn’t want to hike with you lmfao 😭 but he’d want to ride on his motorcycle with you, if you want to. Some adventure, but not too much physical activity, yet a lot of fun.
-He’s a weeb, your honour, I feel it in my bones. Do I have to say more ?
——————————————————————————
-all of them seem to be cat people (Shane might be a dog person, but for our sake I say he’s a chicken person and likes both cats and dogs alike, but chickens win) , so that’s also a plus for all :3
I hope you can sort of agree with my picks. Im sorry if I didn’t pick anyone you have hoped for, but I think these 3 are the best matches out of all the marriage candidates. I thought of maybe Leah, but your interest in art would be about one of the few things you’d have in common I fear. I think there are some others that COULD work, but when I read your summary, these came to my mind instantly lol.
Thanks for your submission !

B, I, M, R, W please
Hi hi hi!
B: Any of your stories inspired by personal experience?
Yes - the entire setting of The Wood is inspired by the town my parents have a hunting cabin in deep in the middle of nowhere in Georgia. That placed has creeped me out for years. And then the town in F*ck Christmas is designed exactly like my hometown. I just changed names of neighborhoods and stuff.
I: Do you have a guilty pleasure in fic (reading or writing)?
Yes, I really enjoy darker fics with a lot of psychology involved. So like, I wouldn't say dark romance because it's not really the 'romance' in that that I find fascinating, as much as the psychology etc. involved. I like psychological thrillers for this exact reason, I find the mind fascinating and seeing some writers utilize that for morally grey or 'villain' characters is cool!
M: Got any premises on the back burner that you'd care to share?
I have a faerie Jimin that I want to do as soon as I finish Gods of the Dark! It's called Changeling and I can't decide if I want to put it on Hali After Dark or do it here. I also have a mini-series I'd like to do for Taehyung called Tether, which some may remember from me talking about last year! That one involves witches and daemons and a fantasy setting.
R: Are there any writers (fanfic or otherwise) you consider an influence?
Yes - some of my favorite published authors are Fonda Lee, R.F. Kuang, Samantha Shannon, Pierce Brown, and Christopher Paolini. Kuang and Brown have shaped the way I liked to write loyalties and betrayals and the consequences of violence in my fics. Paolini, Shannon and Lee I attribute a ton of my world-building drive to. Some fanfic authors I have recently have been super inspired by are @gimmethatagustd @eoieopda and @vyduan. Jai and I legit brainstorm ideas almost every day - they get so many of my offshoots and problem-solving and they come to me for the same stuff, so I am always inspired by them. I just beta-read something for Jade the other day and it was so fucking well written that I have been thinking about it for days and it was to the point that now I want to write a similar aesthetic/genre because I was so insane about it. Virginia is literally mechanically and narratively one of the best writers I've ever seen here and her ability to like.. inject feeling and wordplay into her fics makes me want to eat her style like Kirby and make it mine.
W: Do you like more general prompts, or more specific ones?
For drabbles I like more general prompts because it is really hard to capture 'specific' for me in a short amount of writing space. For fics or one-shots, I like more specific prompts.

For the Fanfic Writer Asks:
what is the weirdest story idea you’ve ever had?
what’s something neat you’ve learned while doing research for something you were writing? also, how much do you worry about doing research in general?
what’s the best insult you’ve read in a fic?
how do you write emotional scenes? do you ever feel what the characters feel?
(My phone didn't copy the numbers for some reason. Screw you too phone...)
what is the weirdest story idea you’ve ever had?
Uhh, I don't know that I've really had weird ones. My background is DEEPLY rooted in thrillers/police mysteries ahaha so I've mostly been writing about serial killers and stuff since I was a teenager. I read my first Lisa Gardner novel when I was about 14 and I have been obsessed with those genres ever since. I do have a psychological thriller I've been writing for years that's pretty wild, but spoiler- it's not a ghost, it's scopolamine lol (thanks CM!)
I am writing Out of the Cold, which is a modern-medieval fantasy marriage out of necessity thing. The weirdest thing about it is the dragons, I guess, because they're only the size of like horses. -.- I'm realizing i'm not very creative lol
what’s something neat you’ve learned while doing research for something you were writing? also, how much do you worry about doing research in general?
Uhhhhhhhhhhhh, oh god, really put me on the spot. I'd have to say military jargon, I guess. I come from a military family, so I've always been comfortable writing those stories, and I actually was about to go to bootcamp for the Marine Corps when I had to start chemo and was released from duty with them. There's a lot of weird shit I heard growing up and read about in regards to the jargon!
I am a big fan of research, but I think it's because I'm a bit of a perfectionist. I have a hard time being lenient with facts when so much of my stories are rooted in a reality-based plotline. Like Operation: Sand Leopard, the most fantastical thing about it is a spouse taking over their dead husband's tour of duty! But when I'm reading other people's stuff? Who gives a shit about reality, I just like seeing what they come up with! Unless it's about guns... there are very practical ways that guns work and I get... weirdly irritated reading stuff where guns are written fragrantly wrong but maybe I'm just a dick.
what’s the best insult you’ve read in a fic?
Not really an insult, and I can't remember where I read it, but it went something like this:
"Fuck you!" I yelled
"Fuck me, then!"
Idk it made me laugh
how do you write emotional scenes? do you ever feel what the characters feel?
Well, I used to go full Hemingway with it and drink until I could force myself to cry. Now, I recognize it as one of the few ways I actually express emotions and try to dredge stuff up from very real places. if this was happening to me, would i get that weird pain under my diaphragm that happens when i cry? Would my cheeks feel like they're swelling because I'm embarrassed that I'm crying at all? Showing the physical ways of emotions are the best way for me to describe emotions.

A VERY RIDGEWAY HALLOWEEN 1: THE BRIEF ONES
DAY 1- Firestarter: "it was mid but the ending was cool and the soundtrack fuckt" DAY 2- Prince of Darkness: "great buildup but the climax stinks. Lots of nice ideas in it though and a great soundtrack again" Day 6- Talk To Me: "the plot was kinda shit but the scares were nice and sickening, just the way i like em" Day 8- Videodrome: "super fucking weird but still actually really good. Wasn't too sure about it in the beginning but was sold by the end. Good body horror as well but i'd encourage anyone giving it a watch to look further than just that" Day 9- You Are Not My Mother: "mixed but fairly positive feelings. Horror was good and I liked the central concept as well as the lesbian love story, but the 'main' bully was SO over the top that anything involving her was hard to take seriously. The very end also felt a little pointless and slapped on." Day 15- Brain Damage: "an okay "so bad it's good" movie but nothing more" (i am SO full of shit for this... how can you see the blowjob scene and not recognize a masterpiece) Day 19- The Blob: ""What's ten million dead if it's keeping out the Russians?" SURPRISINGLY good! brian is hawt and actually CORRECT and hes never framed as being a dick for it AND him and meg DONT EVEN KISS AT THE END!!! IT'S A HALLOWEEN MIRACLE!!" Day 20- Motel Hell: "it was bad" (fucking duh idiot) "but in a "so bad it's good" way." (fucking duh idiot) "chainsaw duel whips ass" Day 22- Candyman: "holy shit this was good. Definitely another one that deserves another watchthrough to properly digest everything, and the horror is perfect along with the incredible soundtrack. feel the ending may be a little bit questionable but not really my place to say for sure i suppose" (ok... lol) Day 22 (again, making up for 21)- Candyman (2021): "This one felt more straightforward thematically (at least to me) and lines up startlingly well with some ideas i've been playing with myself. Not so much scary or disturbing like the original was, but what it lacks there it makes up for in being morbidly fascinating instead." Day 23- An American Werewolf in London: "late to add my commentary but it's not very good but is at least funny." (POST-MORTEM CLARIFICATION: THIS IS NOT THE SAME AS BEING "SO-BAD-ITS-GOOD") "Every line is like this: David: fuck... i can feel the werewolf coming inside me... whatserface: haha omg thats so crazy. ur so hot btw" Day 26- Puppet Master: "I was told the first one was good. i was lied to" Day 27- The Lighthouse: "another movie i should rewatch sometime to give it a deeper look. the first time a psychological thriller actually felt like a thriller to me lol. also the oceanic horror did it a hundred times better than lovecrafts dumb ass ever did just by having restraint" Day 29- The Wicker Man: "this is the best worst movie i've ever watched, hands down. it takes itself so seriously but is the goofiest fuckin shit ive ever seen put to screen. this movie definitely left its target audience cuz i was rooting for the townspeople the entire time. like yeah id do that too if i had to deal with this dude for an hour and 40 minutes" Day 31- FIVE NIGHTS AT FREDDY'S... "watched with friends, as expected it was bad but funny bad until the end where it got so stupid it actually made me mad. also i shit you not the credits music was the fnaf 1 song"

Oscar Thoughts 2023
I'm bringing back my popular segment, Oscar Thoughts, mainly because I thought the Oscars were this past Sunday and they were not. Now, I have one more week to not watch any more movies from 2022. I'll just say it, it's March 2023 and I've moved on from 2022. I'm not out here wondering what the Best International movie is anymore. They could have sent screeners. Instead I watched Decision to Leave and moved on. Today, I'm discussing my rankings of the 2023 Best Picture Nominees. One thing to be clear about is my personal taste doesn't really align with a lot of other filmmakers. I like it when the movie is good and that's my main concern when I watch a film. 1. Tar - ****1/2 I love this movie and I'm surprised it never captured the Zeitgeist. There's nothing easy or straightforward about its approach to cancel culture and I think that's tough for some people. I love films about flawed geniuses (see The Social Network and Steve Jobs) and I appreciated the comedy and psychological thriller aspects more the second viewing. 2. Elvis - ****1/2 Because I know how much many people hate this movie, I have kept kind of mum on it but I really enjoyed Baz Luhrman's 'Elvis'. It felt like he finally had the material to match the incredible production design and bombastic, dizzying camera movement and constant cutting that has been his style since 1996's Romeo + Juliet (a junior classic for me). There's no defense for Tom Hanks' performance in Elvis but it's Austin Butler's world and everyone else is just getting by. A truly electric, hypnotic performance that could win an Oscar but could also lose to B. Fraser (whale gang) or Colin Farrell (still owed for his work in 2006's Miami Vice). 3. All Quiet on the Western Front - ****1/2 An instant modern war film classic that's score is still blaring in my brain. 4. Top Gun: Maverick - ****1/2 Recognizing the achievement that is Top Gun: Maverick is hard for some people because they don't view it as an Oscar movie. To them, I say what the fuck is going on with Avatar 2 then? Tom Cruise, Joseph Kosinski, Chris Macquarrie and Jerry Bruckheimer nail the landing with the sequel that ties up all the loose ends and raises the bar on aviation filmmaking. Are you not entertained? 5. Women Talking - **** Superbly acted film from one of my favorite actors from my youth, Sarah Polley (The Sweet Hereafter). I wanted to enjoy this movie more but it's a tough subject matter and it's mainly desaturated, washed out images of people talking in a barn. 6. The Banshees of Inisherin - **** To be clear, I enjoyed Banshees overall and found it funny, which is still the main goal of comedies. I've never seen In Bruges but I can't say I've ever been a Martin McDonagh fan. He's always ready to beat you over the head with symbolism and in this film, he ponders what creators owe fans and what it means to be an artist through the backdrop of an Irish isle during Civil War. Exceptional performances by everyone involved. It's just not one of my favorite films of the year. 7. The Fabelmans - ***1/2 I'm not here to throw shots at the King (Spielberg). He's made another technically brilliant film examining his own backstory in heartbreaking detail. My biggest issue with this film and other Spielberg works is I have very different sensibilities and attitudes toward the American Dream. I hated high school and I didn't care what anyone thought about me and I handled my parents divorce much differently. Spoilers: Young Steve, you broke the code (IYKYK). 8. Triangle of Sadness *** If you always wanted to know what a European version of "Curb Your Enthusiasm" would be, then here is your chance. I enjoyed director Ruben Ostlund's Force Majeure but TOS is a lot more overtly disgusting. It's not until the final act, which is basically a 5 star movie in itself, that I connected with the material. 9. Everything Everywhere All at Once *** When this movie wins Best Picture, it will become the first winner that I'll have walked out on in theaters (don't worry, I went back the next day and nearly walked out again but then bought two beers and just accepted that I wasn't into the film but it deserved to be finished). Here is my LB review that I've never wavered from "There’s a lot of 5 star moments in this movie and a lot of 1/2 star moments. I was exhilarated and also bored. The comedic moments often didn’t work for me. Daniel’s, I get it, you’re into butt stuff. I’m going to give this movie three stars because it’s not really for me but I’m glad I saw it and I’m even more happy to know movies like this can still get made. That said, I never need to see this movie again." 10. Avatar: The Way of Water - *1/2 SPOILERS: James Cameron starts the movie with the bad guys that are killed off in the first movie just being brought back into the Avatar world and basically tells the audience, I'm going to run it back and you're going to lap up these animated visuals like the little puppies you are. I was immediately out on this movie and wanted to walk out but instead went to concessions, bough two IPA's (it was in Texas and yes, there's a pattern here) and went back and watched the Swiss Family Cameron whaling adventure. Cool.

Do you ever have a bad feeling when life is finally going the way you want it to? Like it won’t last long and a spiral of events will make it even worse than it was before everything aligned.
As a university student, it seemed like life was a never-ending exhausting rollercoaster, from project to project without a break. However, as the last semester arrived, everything seemed to have fallen into place. Rome was finally able to go out without worrying about classes, so he did. He decided to go for a walk, but it was a bad idea to stray from the usual path.
As soon as Rome made a turn in an alleyway, to avoid the loud crowds, he saw something he definitely shouldn’t have. Inside the trash bag the guy was tying, he caught a glimpse of a man’s torso, mutilated. His body froze in the wrong moment, as the potential killer turned to look his way. But Rome got control of his body back, and hid before he could be seen. Or at least he thought so.
Fuck.
His brain was racing and he tried his best to keep his breathing quiet. After what felt like an eternity, he poked his head out, finding the killer gone.
Should I call the police? No, that’s a bad idea, I shouln’t get involved.
Slowly, he took a few steps, finding himself back in the main street. He stopped for one second, taking a deep breath of relief, and decided to just go back home for the day. He never thought he'd see a such a thing in person, the image was very vivid in his head. The different colored bruises, certainly from different beatings, ones older and others more recent creating a palette of yellow, green, blue, red and purple on the tan skin; the painfully unclean and uneven cuts from the missing head, arms and lower body and the dry blood around those same cuts; the deep cuts on the skin, the scars from older cuts that never got treatment; and the tattoo of a baby's face on the left part of his chest, right above his heart.
That poor man's family... And what that man had to indure before death, they might never find peace.
Night had come, but Rome couldn't sleep. He felt observed when he was getting dressed, and the fact he caught the glimpse of a shadow moving away when he looked through the window was getting to his head. He couldn't tell if it was just paranoia or if there was actually someone outside of his house.
Weeks passed, and he didn't know if the lack of sleep was getting to him and make him imagine things. At the beginning Rome would find objects slightly out of place, or some things stored in a different place than he remembered, then at the beginning of the day some items would be missing, just for them to be back in place by the end of day. Sometimes he was in bed and seemed to hear someone walking around, but whenever he went to check, there was never anyone in his house. Maybe he was going insane.
Rome went back to his room after having dinner and taking some sleeping pills, determined to get some very much deserved rest after a whole month of mostly sleepless nights. He felt his conscious drift as soon as he closed his eyes, finally getting some comfort he hoped for.
With the effect of the pills wearing off, Rome felt something restraining his wrists and ankles. He opened his eyes trying to see what could be stopping his movements, but his eyes were covered by a black cloth.
"You're finally awake. Took you long enough."
Rome felt something cold on his leg, he felt chills through his whole body, but quickly the cold was forgotten when he felt a burning sensation slice through his thigh.
He couldn't find the energy to scream, or even let out any sound at all, he felt tears form in his eyes, getting immediately absorbed by the fabric.
He was still too tired from the pills to try to fight, and it was probably better if he didn't move with the man there. It's not like he didn't know what his future would be after all, he saw it with his own eyes. One day someone would just find his torso in a bag by the trash.
Rome felt the rest of consciousness he had drift away as more blood spilled from the cuts.
When will this stop?
The next time Rome woke up, the cloth was gone and he could finally look around. He was practically covered in his dry blood and his body was all sore. He tried his best holding onto consciousness, the guy nowhere to be seen.
Thanks to the paranoia of the last days, Rome always kept a hairpin in hand's reach, he'd just have to wait for a good opportunity to use it. He heard some sounds coming from the kitchen and could smell something being cooked, so now wasn't the time to try to make his escape.
"Here, some food." The guy forced some meat into his mouth, putting his hand over it so Rome was forced to actually eat it. "You see, not everyone appreciates the taste of human meat, but I'd say it tastes just like pork. Unfortunately, as you were able to witness, the last guy had some tattoos on his torso, so I wasn't able to eat some of my favourite cuts. But it's ok, cause I've found you."
Rome felt like throwing up, he was pretty sure the meat didn't taste like pork at all and this guy had completely lost his mind long ago.
"Would you like to try a bit of yourself?"
He wouldn't. But he kept quiet.
The guy smiled, picking something from his bag.
"This might hurt, don't scream too much, honey."
It took several painful minutes, but his right arm was now separated from his body. The pain was excruciating, he felt his mind spinning and everything was too much. The smells, the lights, the burning sensation, and just like that, he was out.
Rome woke up again, exhausted, some bloody cloth stopping the bleeding from his missing arm, and the guy was gone again. This would probably be his only chance to attempt an escape, he'd die soon if he stayed, not like he had anything to lose.
The guy had uncuffed his other arm and this was most likely a trap. Or maybe he didn't think Rome would have it in him to go anywhere, specially with his legs still restrained. He didn't waste time getting rid of the cuffs on his ankles and tried being as quiet as he could approaching the window. After successfully landing outside, he started running as fast as his body could. The exhaustion forgotten due to the adrenaline, Rome never looked back.
Why did I choose to live in such a remote area... There's nothing nearby.
Rome kept running, the more he ran the longer the street felt, he was getting nowhere, the adrenaline was wearing off now that he was alone and far from his house and his heart felt like it could explode in his chest.
I still can't see anything... Am I even out? Is this a dream? I can't tell anymore...
His thoughts didn't stop him, but something else did.
A gunshot.

~Metal Family headcanons~
These are like my... general hcs)? which means I didn't include my main hc that Glam, Ches and Vicky are polyamorous, married and started dating after Glam met Vicky, and absolutely everything that implies for the kids and the relationships between each member of the fam. Maybe I'll make a separate post for that or maybe not! Who knows lkfwnlfqnf
Glam
Bisexual
Glam has constant nightmares and ocasional night terrors ever since he ran away home and is an active sleep walker. Ches helped him through the worse ones when they were younger, and learned how to deal with them, always preferring not to wake him up but being with him until the episode passed. Vicky has learned how to deal with them, though she normally asks Ches for advice with it cuz she comes out short sometimes.
He has PTSD. I bet it's diagnosed too, he takes medication and goes to therapy, it doesn't mean he still doesn't have his bad days anyway. He's trying to get better.
Glam has talked to Vicky about his past, his father and his family. This is a direct contradiction of Alina's confirmation that Glam doesn't talk about it with anyone but man FUCK THAT. We love good communication in this house, Vicky tries her best to help him, but there's only so much she can do to help.
Glam enjoys gardening, cooking and making models, he also likes doing his make up, painting his nails and dressing up in fancy, extravagant clothes even if he has nowhere important to go.
He likes taking care of everyone's hair, and constantly helps Vicky brush her hair cuz there's so much of it, Dee when he gets stressed over how tangled it can get, buys Ches hair products so he actually takes care of it, and chases Heavy so the kid actually washes, untangles and brushes his hair.
This one is kind of weird, but I refuse to think any adult in the family is unarmed at any time. Glam owns a taser and pepper spray. They're bright pink and sparkly.
This man cried his eyes out while watching Coco. He's hell to watch movies with cuz he talks and predicts what's gonna happen during the movie, judges them with scores at the end and all.
Vicky
Also bisexual!
Vicky's the one who does everyone's laundry most of the time. She prefers it that way since she's the only one that knows how to wash their black clothes so the colors stay vibrant. (This is based on my gf shaming everyone but Vicky cuz their black clothes always look so muted and almost gray, but Vicky's whole outfit is always the same vibrant black colors, so we decided that neither Glam or the kids know how to wash dark clothes)
She has anger issues, if it isn't obvious. I think she also has PTSD, mainly survivor's guilt due to her surviving the accident her brother died in. She blames herself and cannot bear to talk about it, in some sort of deep denial. If she can't remember, it can't hurt as much, right?
She has scars on the right side of her back and her hip, from the road rash she got on her brother's accident, she never treated it due to grief and it scarred badly. Apart from that, the scar of the caesarean section from Heavy's birth. She doesn't really mind both of them, they happened, nothing to do about them.
She likes watching boxing competitions, brawling matches and motorcycle repairing on TV. Loves doing BBQ's and going to the pool. Also an enjoyer of teasing her kids, kissing and loving her husband at random times, spending time drinking and bonding with Ches and bragging about her family and punching anyone who thinks they're not that cool.
Not particularly a fan of make up, skirts and dresses or any traditionally femenine-perceived stuff. But has been making exceptions due to Glam and Ches being unashamed of being seen as femenine, and actually rocking the looks. The internalized misogyny is kind of slowly dissapearing.
Apart from the guns she carries in each arm (I mean her biceps, have you looked at the size of those?? She strong) she has brass knuckles on her at all times. Glam gifts her new ones sometimes, she loves having multiple choices to punch people teeth in.
Loves horror, thrillers and action movies. Falls asleep during rom-coms and dramas. Ironically, loves gossip and talking shit about people. Enjoys hearing Ches talks about the gossip going on in the nursery home even if she doesn't know who the hell he's talking about.
Rest of the family under the cut!
Heavy
Heavy is a trans boy! He doesn't know his sexuality yet though, he's still figuring himself out. When he's older, i think he definitely dated some men but had better luck with girls.
Heavy has had innocent crushes on some girls on his class before, but they never turn into anything more cuz he's not the best at expressing himself. He follows the bother-the-girl-to-death-until-she-hates-you gimmick, and unsurprisingly, it doesn't work.
I'm sorry to break this to u but Heavy totally had an among us phase, and uses so much reddit and twitch slang... You know he does.
Likes bullying and teasing his brother to death. You know that when Dee had his first romance, Heavy was ALL up in his business being a tease and a bad attempt at a wingman. He means well tho.
He's not squeamish at all. Also has great pain resistance. This kid has picked cockroaches with his bare hands and loves cats, of course the cats have scratched him. He's tough!
Grows up to be the charming himbo he was always destined to be.
Dee
I hc him as demisexual. Kind of inherited his dad's tastes for the takes no crap, intimidating but pretty kind of people.
Can't cook. He tries but he can only do basics like rice, cereal, chicken nuggets or eggs. Complicated meals always burn or don't taste like anything at all. It drives him crazy.
Dee was a quiet and very well behaved toddler before Heavy was born. He never threw tantrums or got whims. After Heavy was born though, and despite the fact he understood his brother was small and needed special care, he started craving attention often and cried and got mad at little things. Typical jealousy of the oldest sibling.
The first time Dee fell in love with someone, he didn't recognize it was love at first. He just thought his interest on the person was born out of curiosity and aesthetic attraction, but as soon as he realized he seeked validation and companionship, that he liked seeing them smile, that he wanted to protect them, that he yearned for more time alone with them and that he wanted more than what just a simple friendship implied, it was an instant 'oh hell no'. He wanted those feelings to get the hell away, but unfortunately, they were there to stay.
Canonically likes MLP, psychological and horror anime like Death note and Hellsing, so I'm deciding he also watched Death Parade, had a FNAF phase, is very into The Walten Files. This guy enjoys any kind of specially dark ARG's and knows a ton of lore of real crime, unsolved cases, ghost appearances and other stuff. Doesn't believe in the supernatural, but sure is entertained by it.
He's a mess at romance. Flirting? His attempts at compliments are hardly flattering. Giving gifts? The best he can manage is jewelry and you can kind of tell he asked his dad for help. Dates? He's so nervous he's silent for most of it, but begins getting comfortable and having fun if his partner really knows how to get him down from his negativity cloud.
Ches
Pansexual.
He's very good with kids. He has the patience of a saint and he's laid-back, chill and fun but still is an authority figure who knows how to put limits. Sure, he's gonna let the kids light up a house on fire BUT hey, now they know everything about fire precautions, burns and how to treat them AND how to get away with arson. What an educational evening, am I right?
Due to certain info from the "Goodbye" official comic, I headcanon Ches as depressed. I don't want to elaborate a lot 'cuz of spoilers, but... God, everything related to his mom fucking hurts, man. How did he deal with all that?
Ches has been Dee and Heavy's babysitter so many times he cannot count them with all his fingers. He learned how to put those kids to sleep almost immediately (Sing Bon Jovi's "This ain't a love song" and any cheesy love song in a slow lullaby style and they're out), which movie were their favorite as kids (Heavy loved 'Monsters Inc.' and Dee never looked away during 'Meet the Robinsons'), how to console them after nightmares (Heavy needed reassurance, sweet words, and to be with someone until he fell asleep again. Dee just had to be tucked in, get his nightlight turned on and kissed in the forehead). He practically raised those kids along with Vicky and Glam.
More than once, Dee and Heavy have slipped and called Ches "Dad". Ches immediately gets his shit eating grin on and answers "Yes, son?" and does a couple of dad jokes just to mess and embarrass them. He's actually very flattered and surprised at how proud of himself he is for being a father figure to both kids.
Has a scar on the left side of his forehead due to a bottle his mom threw at him when he was younger, around the time he met Glam. He hates the scar with passion, it's a permanent reminder of the fact she never cared, that's why he always keeps it covered with his headband. Gets sad about it sometimes.
Ches likes to spend his time with a group of grannies of the nearby nursing home. He genuinely considers them his friends and gossips and hangs out with all of them on weekends. Bingo, billiards, walks in the park, soap opera marathons, you name it. I even designed them, gave them names and backstories... God, i just love the concept too much. I'll make some art about Ches and his granny gang FOR SURE, you're NOT ready for them.
Carries a pocket knife on him at all times. This man grew up on a bad neighborhood and absolutely knows how to defend himself, he can be intimidating when he wants to be and will pose a threat if needed. He's fucking terrifying when genuinely mad. Just cause he looks harmless doesn't mean he is, darling.
That would be all!

Don't Worry Darling Review!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
OKAY SO right off the bat, amazing cinematography and the score and soundtrack are incredible like seriously two of the best parts of the movie hands down. The visuals and aesthetic were just fucking stunning I'm obsessed and Palm Springs was truly the perfect place to have filmed it in.
The fucking costumes!!!!!!! Oh my god it deserves awards honestly they were so good and just added to the whole aesthetic and vibe of the movie 10/10. Harry in suits will always be sexy I fear.
Harry my beloved.........he acted his fucking ass offffff!!!! Like obviously I'm gonna think he's amazing no matter what but he truly did such an amazing job he played to extremes of his character and delivered what was needed every time. Like I was very aware for the first half that I was watching Harry Styles up there on the screen but the second half of that movie.....just wow.
Chris pine…..he was absolutely perfect for Frank. Everytime he spoke I got chills and was honestly so fascinated and interested to see what he was gonna say next like he was so believable I'd join a cult or something if he was the leader tbh. Him and Gemma together….wow stunning 10/10 Gemma was fucking incredible. I wish she had a bigger role but every scene and line she fucking DELIVEREDDDDD. And I was just in awe of her beauty everytime she was on screen.
Florence ate of course. The iconic frown/pout came out many times which always serves. She truly gave the performance of a lifetime (sorry syd stole your quote but it's true) like you felt so bad for her and was rooting for her the whole time and again especially the second half. Random but her hair looked incredible the whole time.
Like her or not but Olivia is a good actress and director. Her character was fucking hilarious and so good, and a lot of the times the comedic relief tbh, and the perfect counterpart to Alice .This movie isn't perfect as pretty much all aren't but it was so good it kept me on the edge of my seat and even though I had a general idea of what happened there was still so many parts I physically gasped out loud, covered my hand over my mouth and was just fucking shook.
Kiki was amazing wish she had been in it more she is so stunning I couldn't look away, she was incredible.
Nick Kroll im in love with you.......he was also hilarious him and the perfect husband to olivia's character and I wish he was in it more as well.
Asif also fucking hilarious and yet again wish he had been in it more but every scene he had was so funny lmfao this movie was way funnier than I thought it was gonna be. It was a good mix.
I'll put my closing statement here for those who don't want to scroll to the spoilers BUT overall I really fucking loved it. As a psychological thriller, horror and just movie fan this movie delivered exactly what I wanted and more. I knew I would like it either way but truly so relieved like I actually genuinely loved it and was so entertained and on edge the whole two hours.
AND HARRY WAS FUCKING RIGHT IT'S A MOVIE THAT FEELS LIKE A MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
***************************************************************
THIS PART CONTAINS SPOILERS IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN IT DO NOT READ!!!!!!!!!!!
***************************************************************
Harry.............he was literally a whole husband like i believe all the little things he did is shit he does irl and i want to DIEEEEEE
THE FUCKING FIRST CAR SCENE WITH HIM AND FLORENCE….HOLY FUCK!!!!!!!!!! THAT WAS THE MOST PAINFUL PART FOR ME BY FARRRRR HE WAS SOOOOO FUCKING CUTE AND SUCH A HUSBANDDDDD OH IM DEVASTATEDHFDJHJIK
The scene where alive and bunny are talking to frank and shelleys kids was so fucking funny like the okay bye bye! and the 'they probably sleep upside down' KILLED ME NFJBHUJDJK
The fucking......Bath scene……my fucking god the thoughts running through my head when he ever said 'lets have a baby, I want more of you, a little you' etc......I WAS SHAKINGGJNGJK!??!?!?!?
The party and tap scene was so fucking iconic like harry was tapping his ass off!!!! tap dancing king!!!
THE CAR SCENE WHEN HARRY'S SCREAMING BROKE MY FUCKING HEART HE ACTED SO WELL some people might think his sorrys and that weren't good but like he's acting like he's upset that shes getting taken away which im sure he is but also hes upset because of what this could mean for him and his job and life etc....the layers im just....I was so impressed with him.
Would love to just know more backstory especially around Jack and Alice like why did jack lose his job how did he get alice looking like that JNFGHUJCI and the song??? did he make that up as he was setting up the simulation or whatever or is that just a song of theirs they sang to each other like???? and also would love to know about bunnys back story especially the kids??? and how she knew the whole time that was crazy I did not see that coming at all!!!
The last like 30 mins of that movie are fucking insane like i was gasping out loud every few minutes i was SHOOK and like......that was not my harry I was blown away obviously he looked not himself at all those scenes were fucking crazy but even when he was jack in that last scene......holy fuck!!!!!! AND I DID NOT SEE WHAT ALICE TO HIM COMING AT ALLLLLLL LIKE OH MY GOD?!?!?!??!

I’ve seen that you and @predator-padawan have said you both are huge classic movie fans. As I am a big fan of both of your blogs and love and respect your guys’ opinions on SW. I was wondering if as a young (and shy hence the anon) person trying to really get into film if you guys have a list of must watch movies?
Hello!! This is the sweetest most wonderful ask we could ask for. @predator-padawan and I are happy to share some recommendations, but I cannot call anything a "must-watch" simply because I don't know your taste in movies and also because they all have different kinds of upsetting content, which I'll try to mention. I'm also going to keep it in the realm of "classic film for Star Wars fans" because I always have more fun getting into something if it's through the lens of something I'm already interested in!! Also, just to be open about bias, I'm capping "classic" at 1970, I don't know anything about silent film, I only like gay movies, and this list is very English-speaking-heavy; if you're interested in a more international exploration of film history, send a separate ask haha.
Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (1958) - I'm guessing you've seen me and @predator-padawan and @flashbulb-memory yelling about Brick from this movie/play! Played by Paul Newman, he's THE depiction of gay repression/internalized homophobia in film. It's all absolutely intentional, so this movie is a great exercise in catching SUBTEXT, as opposed to shipping. It all takes place in a very tense and hostile white Southern family household, a "return to hometown" kind of thing. So trigger warnings for families fighting, lots! of yelling, alcoholism, threats of domestic violence, infidelity, and yeah, homophobia. It's a very uncomfortable movie to watch and the payoff is great. My other favorite Tennessee Williams movie adaptation, Suddenly, Last Summer, is even more uncomfortable and tense to watch, but I also recommend if you like this one.
Strangers on a Train (1951) - Hitchcock psychological thriller, based on a book by Patricia Highsmith (who wrote the books Carol and The Talented Mr. Ripley are based on, both gay classics) and adapted to screenplay by Raymond Chandler (my favorite noir writer.) Very tense, very horrible people involved, very psychologically unstable gay character. But god, it's so much fun. Also, the carousel fight scene at the end is one of the best fight scenes ever. Up there with the lightsaber duel on Mustafar lol. It's not Hitchcock's best movie and not even one of his most popular, but it's a good primer in how he does gay characters and subtext in the psychological thriller genre. Plus you get the comfort of knowing at least a gay writer was involved in creating the characters in the first place.
Some Like it Hot (1959) - Everyone should watch this movie, that's all.
Seven Samurai (1954) - I recently rewatched this because of Star Wars, and it really is helpful as a framework for what George Lucas thought was cool and inspiring when he made the original trilogy. Also hugely influential on American cinema (at least indirectly, through the rework The Magnificent Seven, which is also great.) It was fun to watch this film eight a very sharp editing style and see how Lucas tried (it appears to me) to replicate with very odd results.
Lawrence of Arabia (1962) - Speaking of sharp editing, this is my favorite film on a technical level. It also has one of the most heartbreaking gay romances of all time. (Again, yes, this was intentional subtext, and while Omar Sharif's character is not historically accurate, Lawrence himself was definitely a gay masochist as depicted in the movie.) It's well over three hours long and is about war, English imperialism, and the imperialist origins of the modern Middle East, so be prepared for that. Pretty much all of David Lean's films can be summed up by "English people are so fucked up, isn't it fascinating how fucked up English people are?" Also, you get to see Alec Guinness in brown face, hmm.
Brief Encounter (1945) - My actual favorite movie :) "English people are so fucked up, isn't it fascinating how fucked up English people are?" Also, the forbidden romance of George Lucas's dreams. (It actually is only romantic because the play/screenplay were written by a gay man.)
Singin' in the Rain (1952) - I want to have one proper musical on here, so here it is. I could go on and on for days about Gene Kelly's dancing :)) but I won't. This movie is just cute and hilarious and probably gives you all the background info about classic Hollywood you need. Plus, Debbie Reynolds, Carrie Fisher's mom :))) For extra enjoyment, keep in mind that it's a jukebox musical; the songs were not written for the story, rather the story was worked around the songs.
Red River (1948) - IF you're up for a Western (which I believe is historically important to understanding all American film), start with this gay cinema classic. It's insanely gay. I lose my mind every time we watch it. We've talked about Obikin AUs of it lol. Horrible depictions of Native Americans, which I always use to reflect on what that indicates about the time the movie was made and the history of Hollywood in general. Also very long; I recommend watching with a friend to chat with during long cattle drive scenes.
I'm going to say that Sunset Boulevard (1950) and Whatever Happened to Baby Jane (1962) are must-watches if you're at all interested in Hollywood history or women/what Hollywood does to women. Sorry all of my recommendations have murder and psychological torture in them lol.
I just keep thinking of more, so I'm going to stop myself for now. Come back if you've already seen these and want a different list!
@predator-padawan do you have any additions?

HI ! So im answering this as a new ask cause I bring (hopefully) new info and have IMAGES TO SHARE !
He looks just so preppy in that movie skskksks i almost didn’t recognize him
Tumblr media
which then led me to go through his filmography (at least the first things google showed me) AND
First, found this movie from early 80s (pretty sure ‘81) called Night Warning/Butcher Baker Nightmare Maker and 👀
Tumblr media
I didn’t even know about it but it has an actual interesting plot and a lot of VERY GOOD reviews, so now im curious
AND SECOND it fucking happened again, this man has been an even bigger part of my childhood then half seeing Twister sometimes, and it both took me out and made me feel like an absolute fool for never noticing it
Have you ever seen Spy Kids 2 or 3? Cause I HAVE ! MANY TIMES !
Tumblr media
HE PLAYS THE STUPID COWBOY WHO OWNS THE AMUSEMENT PARK WITH THE STUPID NAME
he’s legit called Dinky Blinks this is not a joke, i repeat, not a joke
First off: I've heard of Butch Baker Nightmare Maker but never had an interest in watching it but with the reviews and...Stuff....Now, I suddenly do. It's so strange. Wonder what it is? 👀 (FFFFFUUU- He looks so good there omfg I swear if Severen would have stripped off his jacket at least once in the movie I would have been FERAL🥵 )
Secondly: lolol Ikr? He's such a softboy (Little yanadere ngl. Like tone it down, Paul.) in Mortuary I honestly felt so FUCKING bad for him tho. It's hurting me that I can't spoil anything but people really failed him and his character is the most interesting thing about that movie.
Tumblr media
It's campy, certain things were unnecessary plot holes and the lead actress imo wasn't as good as the actor playing her boyfriend and Bill as Paul but it's worth the watch at least once! Technically, a slasher just an lesser known one. Look at his gay lil run ☠️😭 That alone should be the only reason needed.
Tumblr media
Third: Bro idk WHY but a barely remember Spy Kids 😬 Idk if I just wasn't interested as much as a kid or if it's just been that long 😅 But yeah it does not shock me at this point. He played so many characters from serious to goofy throughout his entire career (Which is kind of refreshing bc so many actors only play serious cash grab roles as they get older then there's middle aged Bill like 3 decades in the business playing a character called Dinky Blinks ☠️)
He was also in the Titanic which shocked a lot of ppl including me like that hair and tan completely disguised him.
Tumblr media
And I forgot to add this to the watch list (IDK HOW IT'S ONE OF MY FAV MOVIES WITH OR W/O BILL) but Frailty is really good. I LOVE psychological thrillers with twist endings especially if they're done right and Frailty is one of the best ones I've ever seen (Bill Directed it too!)
Tumblr media
It has Religious Trauma in it so if ur sensitive to that then I get not watching it but its really well done AND Matthew McConaughey is the leading role AND the child actors were amazing idk who they are but if they were that great as kids I'm sure they went on to be major Actors and I just don't recognize them.

MY ANIME WATCHLIST FOR WINTER 2021☃️❄️✨
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Finally got some time to do this. Winter is here and we got a marvelous season ahead! Here is my watchlist for this season + the ongoing series i’ll be watching. I already watch every episode that came out, but I’ll do a proper first impression in different posts.
Horimiya (堀さんと宮村くん) I can’t believe this one is finally getting an adaption TT. Yes I’m part of the manga readers group, and I’m really really excited! CloverWorks is in charge and so far they have shown an amazing work! just look at that poster. Genres: Slice of Life, Comedy, Romance.
Dr.Stone: Stone Wars (ドクターストーン ) If you haven’t seen season 1, go and do yourself a favor. Been waiting for this so bad, season two is finally here, and hopefully is going to be even better than season 1. As a women of science this story really gets me excited. TMS Entertainment is working again with this series so im expecting the same amazing job. Genres: Sci-Fi, Adventure, Shounen.
Bottom-Tier Character Tomozaki (弱キャラ友崎くん) This one looks interesting in a weird way, i was really excited that this season got more than one romance anime, so im looking forward to this one. Project No.9 is the studio in charge, their anime has never been that iconic or memorable, hopefully this is a different situation. Genres: Drama, Romance, School
Kemono Jihen (怪物事変) Honestly i saw the poster and thought “this probably going to be a really good but underrated one”, the sypnosis catch me right away and im really curious about the mc. the studio working on this is Ajia-Do, they brought us the marvelous Kakushigoto last year so i have high expectations. Genres: Action, Mystery, Demons.
The Seven Deadly Sins: Dragon’s Judgement (七つの大罪 憤怒の審判) I love Nanatsu so bad, i hated the way they animated last season. Studio Deen normally does a great work but damn, las season was awful. I REALLY hope they do the proper work this anime deserves. This arc is so amazing to be ruined like the previous one.
Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation (無職転生 ~異世界行ったら本気だす~) As one may say, there isn’t a good season without the typical Isekai story. But this one seems to be like everything good from an average Iskeai. The trailer gave me the thoughts that this probably would be the surprise of the season + the studio working on this one is Studio Bind which is apparently new since i couldn’t find any previous work. Genres: Drama, Fantasy, Magic.
Wonder Egg Priority (ワンダーエッグ・プライオリティ) Oh this one looks so beautiful. CloverWorks did such an amazing work with the design an animation. It looks like a movie. Sypnosis didn’t makes sense and was kind of confusing but I got excited and i can’t wait to see more. Genres: Psychological, Drama, Fantasy.
Re:Zero - Starting Life in Another World Season 2 Part 2 (Re:ゼロから始める異世界生活) Man, I love Subaru so much, Re is amazing everyone should watch it. Its seems this part is really important for Subaru’s development, and it would probably get really fucked up as always. WhiteFox keeps working on this amazing story. I can’t wait to see everything that’s going to happen, because last season was really good but so crazy and hard. Genres: Psychological, Thriller, Drama, Fantasy.
BEASTARS 2期 This series is back and I’m dying of excitement, i really don’t know whats going to happen, and what new challenges Legoshi would have to confront but everything tells me is going to be amazing + Orange is bringing again the best CGI work on an anime ever. If you haven’t watch season 2 go and do it you won’t regret it! Genres: Slice of Life, Psychological, Drama
The Promised Neverland Season (約束のネバーランド) I’m really dying of excitement this season. FINALLY Yakusoku is back and with nothing more that worries and uncertainty for me. My kids are back and out of the farm and I’m really nervous to see whats going to happen next. Genres: Mystery, Fantasy, Psychological, Thriller.
Ongoing series from last season I’ll be continuing watching:
Jujutsu Kaisen Next arc is reallyyyyyy good.
Shingeki no Kyojin My slowly death till the end, manga ending got a date now and I really don’t know how this is going to end.
Digimon Adventure 2020 nostalgic and all time favorite.
Black Clover This arc looks insane and animation looks so good in that latest episodes, please keep it like that TT
One Piece I still need to catch up but always one of the best things to watch.
Higurashi no Naku Koro ni, I’ve always love this series, though i still prefer the old animation, I loved this remake, everything is making more sense now (maybe because I’m older🤣) and explanations feels less confunsing + horror is amazing.
